- 0:01Hi everyone welcome back so um
- 0:05the topic for today is on boundaries or self-respect not
- 0:09a rejection so we will start on that one so welcome again to mentor 365 services
- 0:16a gentle space for mental and emotional healing today's topic is something we
- 0:22all struggle with a different moments in our lives.
- 0:26So, boundaries. What are they? What are they not? And why setting them isn't
- 0:31rejection. It's self-respect.
- 0:33Take a deep breath with me.
- 0:37In and out and let's begin. So for many of us, especially those raised in cultures
- 0:44built on loyalty and sacrifice, boundaries feel like a betrayal.
- 0:48We are taught to give more than we have, say yes even when we are tired,
- 0:56accept behavior that hurts, stay quiet to keep peace.
- 1:00We learn that love means don't disappoint anyone.
- 1:04So when we finally say the word no, it feels dangerous
- 1:07not because it's no is
- 1:10harmful but because we were trained to believe
- 1:13our worth comes from pleasing sacrificing and enduring so boundaries feel like
- 1:20rejection but they're not they are the truth so let's make it simple boundary
- 1:26is not a wall it's a door it protects your peace, your time, your energy,
- 1:31while still allowing safe connection.
- 1:34A boundary is not I don't love you. A boundary is I love myself too.
- 1:40It says I want a healthy relationship where both of us feel safe, seen, and respected.
- 1:46Healthy boundaries are actually an invitation to a deeper connection.
- 1:51Because love without respect is not love, it's dependency.
- 1:56So here's the truth people don't talk about. Setting boundary is not easy. It's painful.
- 2:02It means grieving old identities, losing people who only love you when you have
- 2:08no limits, facing guilt, facing fear.
- 2:12It might mean your family doesn't understand, your friends get upset,
- 2:17people call you selfish.
- 2:19But listen, they are not reacting to your boundary. They are reacting to the
- 2:24end of their access without out effort.
- 2:27Some people like you better when you didn't like yourself.
- 2:33And when you change the rules, they feel uncomfortable. But discomfort is the
- 2:37first step of growth, not rejection.
- 2:41When you come from a culture built on survival, boundaries are revolutionary.
- 2:46Many of us with immigrant family history, pain wasn't talked about. It was carried.
- 2:52Our parents had no time for therapy or healing language.
- 2:56Their love was cooking a meal, working extra shifts, setting money overseas.
- 3:01They didn't know how to say, I see you. I'm proud of you. You deserve to rest.
- 3:07So we learn love through survival, not softness.
- 3:11And now we are the first generation saying, I can love you and still love myself.
- 3:16That is breaking a cycle, one boundary at a time.
- 3:20Not angry, not bitter, just different.
- 3:23So let's clear the confusion. A boundary is not abandonment.
- 3:27It's not disappearing without explanation.
- 3:30It's not silent. It's not revenge.
- 3:32A boundary sounds like I need space today. I can't help right now.
- 3:37I won't accept being spoken to like that. I love you, but I need time alone
- 3:42I'm saying no and that's okay You see the difference?
- 3:46Self-respect is honest gentle and clear not emotional punishment.
- 3:53If you ever, like never set a boundary before, start small.
- 3:57Pick one thing this week, something that doesn't destroy the relationship but protects your peace.
- 4:03Say, I'm tired tonight, I'll respond tomorrow. Or, I need a moment to think before I answer.
- 4:09Or, I don't have the emotional space for this right now.
- 4:13Tiny boundaries build confidence.
- 4:15And soon, you discover that the one world doesn't end when you take care of yourself.
- 4:22People who truly love you adjust people
- 4:26who only love your compliance fade
- 4:29either way you find truth so if
- 4:33you're listening right now and boundaries feel terrifying remember this say
- 4:38no to what hurts you is saying yes to the person you are becoming you don't
- 4:43set boundaries to push people out you set them to let love in without losing
- 4:48yourself you are allowed to choose peace You are allowed to protect your mind.
- 4:52You are allowed to love without abandoning your own needs.
- 4:56Boundaries are not rejection. Boundaries are self-respect. Thank you for listening today, okay?
- 5:01If this episode helped you, share it with someone who needs encouragement.
- 5:05Until next time, take care of your heart and health. God bless.
