- 0:00Speaker 1: There is a new assault happening on your children in
- 0:02Speaker 1: this country. And it's not just critical race theory. It's
- 0:06Speaker 1: not just calling parents that school board meetings domestic terrorists.
- 0:10Speaker 1: It's not just like the California school board president that
- 0:13Speaker 1: was caught on a hot mic telling a parent to
- 0:15Speaker 1: fu because they were concerned their kids weren't getting a
- 0:19Speaker 1: good education. There is a new assault on your kids
- 0:22Speaker 1: future and it deals with the grades that they are
- 0:25Speaker 1: receiving in schools. Now, you know what schools are doing.
- 0:29Speaker 1: They're trying to indoctrinate your children. Just last night on MSNBC,
- 0:35Speaker 1: a perfect example of this was this new warning that
- 0:39Speaker 1: many school districts are sending messages that in essence are racist.
- 0:45Speaker 1: This is how they started their report as there is
- 0:48Speaker 1: another major issue against your kids that's happening with their future.
- 0:52Speaker 1: It's refusing to fail your kids, refusing to give your
- 0:55Speaker 1: kids d's and as even if they deserve them. It's
- 1:00Speaker 1: called social promotion. We are now seeing in this country,
- 1:03Speaker 1: especially because of what happened last year with a pandemic,
- 1:07Speaker 1: that there are a significant number of school districts around
- 1:09Speaker 1: the country. I'm talking about hundreds who are refusing to
- 1:12Speaker 1: fail kids hold them back or not graduate them. They're
- 1:14Speaker 1: socially promoting them. They're moving them through this system regardless
- 1:19Speaker 1: of if they taught your kid anything or not. Now,
- 1:21Speaker 1: some of this could be the problem of the parents
- 1:23Speaker 1: and the children, no doubt about it. Okay, I want
- 1:25Speaker 1: to make that clear. Okay, some of this is that
- 1:31Speaker 1: there are parents and kids that aren't paying attention, that
- 1:35Speaker 1: are lazy, that don't care. But the majority of what
- 1:38Speaker 1: we're seeing right now is teachers public school systems that
- 1:42Speaker 1: are trying to indoctrinate your kids instead of actually educate
- 1:44Speaker 1: your kids. And now with COVID nineteen, the lockdowns and
- 1:48Speaker 1: some of the terrible decisions that they've made, kids have
- 1:50Speaker 1: fallen behind even more than they were before. So, instead
- 1:54Speaker 1: of being honest about how much of a disaster this
- 1:56Speaker 1: distance learning has actually been in this country, decided to
- 2:00Speaker 1: move in a different direction. That different direction is will
- 2:04Speaker 1: promote and socially promote your child to the next grade
- 2:07Speaker 1: or graduate them, because why not, right, why wouldn't we
- 2:13Speaker 1: It's easier for us to move your kid on even
- 2:15Speaker 1: if they can't read, write, or do arithmetic while we
- 2:17Speaker 1: indoctrinate them. Because that's what this is really all about.
- 2:20Speaker 1: This is about indoctrination. We're not here to educate your kid.
- 2:25Speaker 1: We're here to indoctrinate your kid. Now. I want you
- 2:27Speaker 1: to listen to part of this intro from MSNBC last night.
- 2:31Speaker 1: This is about what they referred to as cultural rewards,
- 2:36Speaker 1: and they say that it's the school's job now to
- 2:39Speaker 1: teach your kid about race, that includes critical race theory.
- 2:42Speaker 1: And if you don't teach your kid about it, then
- 2:44Speaker 1: you're a racist and your kids will grow up to
- 2:46Speaker 1: be racist because we're no longer teaching your kids how
- 2:48Speaker 1: to read right into arithmetic. That's not the job of
- 2:52Speaker 1: public education. It's to indoctrinate your kids to hate America,
- 2:55Speaker 1: hate their own skin color if they're white, and reparation
- 3:00Speaker 1: and everything else they want to do. Guest warns against
- 3:02Speaker 1: the influential followers of a new sort of religion. In
- 3:06Speaker 1: his newest book, Woke Racism, John mcquarter writes, quote third
- 3:11Speaker 1: wave anti racism, in its laser focus on an oversimplified
- 3:16Speaker 1: sense of what racism is and what one does about it,
- 3:20Speaker 1: is content to harm black people in the name of
- 3:23Speaker 1: what we can only term dogma. It's a lot back
- 3:27Speaker 1: with us again tonight easily our favorite linguist around here.
- 3:30Speaker 1: The aforementioned John mcwarter, armed with a PhD in linguists
- 3:34Speaker 1: from linguistics from Stanford. He as a professor at Columbia
- 3:37Speaker 1: University in New York, a contributor at The Atlantic. His
- 3:40Speaker 1: latest book is Woke Racism, How a New Religion has
- 3:44Speaker 1: Betrayed Black America, now in the top ten list of
- 3:47Speaker 1: the New York Times Bestsellers. It's a pleasure to have you.
- 3:51Speaker 1: And I'm so curious, having written this, having just released this,
- 3:56Speaker 1: you're watching last night's returns, how much of the theme
- 4:00Speaker 1: echoed back to you? And do you have a kind
- 4:03Speaker 1: of realization that we may be approaching a realization on
- 4:08Speaker 1: the part of the Democrats that the language of wokeism
- 4:12Speaker 1: just might be political suicide. Well, yeah, I think that
- 4:16Speaker 1: what we're seeing is definitely a pushback against the excesses
- 4:21Speaker 1: that we've seen since roughly June of twenty twenty. And
- 4:25Speaker 1: excess doesn't mean that, for example, you teach about racism
- 4:29Speaker 1: and slavery in schools. What's going on is that in
- 4:32Speaker 1: many school districts, in both private and public schools, there
- 4:36Speaker 1: is a general message being taught to be white is
- 4:40Speaker 1: to be culpable that the whole American experiment can be
- 4:44Speaker 1: argued to have been polluted from the very beginning by
- 4:46Speaker 1: the stain of racism, and that the essence of being
- 4:49Speaker 1: black is being oppressed. A great many people are under
- 4:53Speaker 1: the impression that that really is a suitable default education,
- 4:57Speaker 1: that teaching kids that particular perspective on things is what
- 5:02Speaker 1: an education is supposed to be. And the problem is
- 5:04Speaker 1: that's not something that all reasonable people will agree with,
- 5:08Speaker 1: and instead, what we have is this word game where
- 5:11Speaker 1: somebody calls what I just said critical race theory, and
- 5:15Speaker 1: then somebody else says, well, that's not what's in papers
- 5:17Speaker 1: that some legal scholars wrote thirty and forty years ago.
- 5:21Speaker 1: That isn't being taught to eight year olds, as if
- 5:22Speaker 1: that's what anybody meant. And so the terms of all
- 5:25Speaker 1: of this are extremely frustrating because they are certain people, brilliant,
- 5:31Speaker 1: wise people who are insisting that anyone who doesn't like
- 5:35Speaker 1: the direction that so many schools are taking in terms
- 5:38Speaker 1: of what they think of as instruction is some kind
- 5:41Speaker 1: of bigot, that what this is racism rearing its ugly head,
- 5:45Speaker 1: when really it's just that people will differ on how
- 5:49Speaker 1: slavery and racism are taught in schools, and when they're
- 5:52Speaker 1: told that they're fools for questioning it, they have a
- 5:54Speaker 1: right to be offended. And this sort of thing could
- 5:57Speaker 1: start affecting elections, and we're going to see more of
- 5:59Speaker 1: these old, we're simplified analyzes that all it is is
- 6:02Speaker 1: racism and backlash and ignorance, when really it's something much
- 6:06Speaker 1: more complex. It's by the way, I got to jump
- 6:09Speaker 1: in here, but I wanted you to hear the core
- 6:11Speaker 1: of this argument. So their argument now on the left
- 6:13Speaker 1: is Okay, maybe we need to do a better job
- 6:16Speaker 1: of explaining critical race theory. Maybe we need to do
- 6:20Speaker 1: a better job of not calling it critical race here.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Maybe we need to package it differently. We want to
- 6:24Speaker 1: teach the same thing, right, we want to. We want
- 6:27Speaker 1: to teach the same thing, but we would just need
- 6:31Speaker 1: to package it better, to make it more woke. Package
- 6:35Speaker 1: it better to not be so blatant to tell white
- 6:36Speaker 1: kids it should be ashamed of being white. Now, critical
- 6:39Speaker 1: race theory is being taught. Critical race theory is real.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Critical race theory curriculum is also real, and your tax
- 6:46Speaker 1: stars are paying for it. But while all of this
- 6:48Speaker 1: is going on you may want to know what's actually
- 6:51Speaker 1: happening in your kids' schools. I started by saying that
- 6:58Speaker 1: this public school system that we have created this country,
- 7:00Speaker 1: which is about inducting your kids in ideology, not about reading, writing, arithmetic,
- 7:04Speaker 1: has now got a huge problem. Los Angeles Times is
- 7:07Speaker 1: now reporting that many school districts across the country, our
- 7:10Speaker 1: face was soaring at number of d's and f's. So
- 7:13Speaker 1: schools have decided, instead of doing a better job of
- 7:15Speaker 1: teaching a kid, they're just going to change the way
- 7:17Speaker 1: they grade your kids. You're paying for this, whether your
- 7:20Speaker 1: kids in a public and private school, whether you have
- 7:22Speaker 1: kids or not, you're paying for it. If you pay taxes,
- 7:24Speaker 1: you're paying for this pandemic for school closures. Revealed how
- 7:29Speaker 1: grade point systems hurt quote unquote disadvantaged children, prompting educators
- 7:34Speaker 1: to look for ways to bring equity to gradings. So
- 7:37Speaker 1: now we're going to give kids different grades based on
- 7:40Speaker 1: their economic and social conditions they live in and the
- 7:43Speaker 1: color of their skin. To fix the fact that liberals
- 7:47Speaker 1: shut down schools when they shouldn't have. Private schools kept
- 7:50Speaker 1: them open, and instead of actually going back and teaching
- 7:54Speaker 1: your kids where they didn't teach your kid last year.
- 7:56Speaker 1: They want to change the way they grade your kid
- 7:59Speaker 1: so that they can then move your kid to the
- 8:01Speaker 1: next grade, losing an entire year basically of education, and
- 8:06Speaker 1: they still got paid for this. A few years ago,
- 8:10Speaker 1: high school teacher Joshua Marino got fed up with his
- 8:13Speaker 1: grading system, which had become a points game. Some students
- 8:17Speaker 1: accummended so many points early on that by the end
- 8:20Speaker 1: of the term they knew they didn't need to do
- 8:23Speaker 1: more work and could still get an a. Others, often
- 8:26Speaker 1: those who had to work or care for family members
- 8:29Speaker 1: after school, would fail to turn in their homework and
- 8:32Speaker 1: fall so far behind that they would just stop trying.
- 8:36Speaker 1: It was literally inequitable. He said. As a teacher, you
- 8:41Speaker 1: get frustrated because what you signed up for was for
- 8:45Speaker 1: students to learn, and it just ended up being a
- 8:47Speaker 1: conversation about points all the time. These days, his high
- 8:51Speaker 1: school and as an English teacher, has done away with
- 8:54Speaker 1: points entirely. He no longer gives students homework and gives
- 8:58Speaker 1: them multiple opportunities to improve essays and class work. The
- 9:03Speaker 1: goal is to base grades on what the students are
- 9:06Speaker 1: learning and remove behavior deadlines and how much work they
- 9:11Speaker 1: do from the equation. All right, so let's translate that
- 9:14Speaker 1: into real world. So think about what we're teaching our
- 9:17Speaker 1: kids now. We are teaching our kids that you don't
- 9:20Speaker 1: have to actually behave in the classroom. Right. We're taking
- 9:25Speaker 1: we're removing behavior, We're removing deadlines, which is what you're
- 9:30Speaker 1: going to have in the real world. And the real world,
- 9:32Speaker 1: the only way you're going to keep a job is
- 9:34Speaker 1: if you get crap done on time. And if you
- 9:36Speaker 1: don't get crap done on time, or you don't do
- 9:38Speaker 1: things during each day when you were at work, here
- 9:41Speaker 1: is what happens. You and I both know the answer.
- 9:44Speaker 1: You and I both know exactly what happens. What happens.
- 9:48Speaker 1: What happens, You get fired, you get laid off. So
- 9:52Speaker 1: we're gonna now coddle kids all the way through high school,
- 9:55Speaker 1: and we're going to coddle them to the point when
- 9:59Speaker 1: they immediately go and they get their first job. We
- 10:02Speaker 1: what do we do? We shut them down indefinitely in
- 10:05Speaker 1: the real world. We shut them down because they've never
- 10:08Speaker 1: even been taught that they have to do anything on time,
- 10:11Speaker 1: which is also insanity. It gets better the changes this
- 10:19Speaker 1: English teacher Marino embraced are part of a growing trend
- 10:22Speaker 1: nationwide in which educators are moving away from traditional point
- 10:27Speaker 1: driven grading system aiming to close large academic gaps among racial, ethnic,
- 10:33Speaker 1: and economic groups. So, in other words, we're going woke
- 10:35Speaker 1: in our grading system, where if you're a white kid,
- 10:38Speaker 1: it will be harder for you to get A. If
- 10:40Speaker 1: you're a rich kid, it'll be harder for you to
- 10:42Speaker 1: get an A than if you are poor or a minority.
- 10:45Speaker 1: It may be harder to get an A in some
- 10:47Speaker 1: schools than the other school across town, because we're gonna
- 10:51Speaker 1: judge you at a different level because of your economic
- 10:54Speaker 1: and social conditions. We will punish kids whose parents were successful,
- 11:03Speaker 1: and we will embrace kids whose parents might be unsuccessful.
- 11:08Speaker 1: That's literally what they're now saying in this grading system.
- 11:12Speaker 1: You're welcome. This is happening nationwide all because of one
- 11:16Speaker 1: year of law schooling, And in that one year of
- 11:18Speaker 1: law schooling, we decided, instead of actually going back in
- 11:22Speaker 1: teaching the kids because grown adults screwed up what they
- 11:25Speaker 1: should be taught, we've decided to skip over the entire
- 11:28Speaker 1: year in trade and change the way we're grading so
- 11:31Speaker 1: that we don't have to actually admit we got it
- 11:33Speaker 1: wrong in society. The changes that this English teacher Marino embrace,
- 11:37Speaker 1: they say, are part of a growing trend in which
- 11:39Speaker 1: educators are moving away from a grading system they say
- 11:44Speaker 1: is racist, they say, accelerated by the pandemic and school
- 11:49Speaker 1: closures that cause troubling increases in these and fs across
- 11:53Speaker 1: the country, and by calls to examine the role of
- 11:58Speaker 1: institutionalized races m in schools, and the aftermath of the
- 12:02Speaker 1: murder of George Floyd by a police officer. Okay, let's
- 12:05Speaker 1: just take that last sentence for a second and think
- 12:07Speaker 1: about what we're doing nationwide now. We are changing the
- 12:10Speaker 1: way that we grade kids because the arrest of George
- 12:13Speaker 1: Floyd and the murder of George Floyd, which has nothing
- 12:17Speaker 1: to do with education. If you can't add, and you
- 12:22Speaker 1: can't do two plus two equals four, that has nothing
- 12:26Speaker 1: to do with the aftermath the murder of George Floyd,
- 12:28Speaker 1: which we condemned in this country. That has nothing to
- 12:32Speaker 1: do with that one police officer who committed that crime.
- 12:36Speaker 1: There is nothing that reading, writing, arithmetic has to do
- 12:40Speaker 1: with George Floyd and his arrest and his murder by
- 12:43Speaker 1: a police officer. But we're going to fundamentally change the
- 12:47Speaker 1: entire way that we grade children because of George Floyd.
- 12:50Speaker 1: It makes no sense to connect that dot. Yet they are,
- 12:53Speaker 1: and this is happening nationwide. Los Angeles and San Diego
- 12:57Speaker 1: Unified school Districts, the state's too large school districts in California,
- 13:01Speaker 1: with some six hundred and sixty thousand students combined, have
- 13:04Speaker 1: recently directed teachers to quote base their academic grades on
- 13:10Speaker 1: whether students have learned what was expected them during a course,
- 13:14Speaker 1: and not penalize them for behavior, work habits, and missdeadlines.
- 13:20Speaker 1: So we're teaching kids to totally be irresponsible and going
- 13:24Speaker 1: to indoctrinate them that there is no penalty in life
- 13:28Speaker 1: for your behavior. Right, There's no penalty in life for
- 13:32Speaker 1: your work habits, and there's no penalty in life for
- 13:35Speaker 1: missdeadlines and not doing work on time. I cannot tell
- 13:38Speaker 1: you how many sleepless nights I had in high school
- 13:41Speaker 1: and in college because I procrastinated to the last minute
- 13:45Speaker 1: and then had to cram to get work done. And
- 13:49Speaker 1: what it teaches you about life is that you might
- 13:52Speaker 1: need to actually in life not wait till the last
- 13:55Speaker 1: minute and not cram. Okay, that's what it teaches you
- 14:00Speaker 1: in life. Understand that that's what it teaches you. And
- 14:07Speaker 1: everybody needs to understand that that is what it teaches you.
- 14:12Speaker 1: This is what it teaches you, and we're going to
- 14:15Speaker 1: get rid of that. So if a kid decides to
- 14:17Speaker 1: do his coursework on schedule and he turns it in,
- 14:22Speaker 1: there is no penalty for the other kid who decided
- 14:26Speaker 1: not to do his course work. No penalty if the
- 14:30Speaker 1: kid does it tomorrow or the next day, or the
- 14:31Speaker 1: next week or the next month. In other words, just
- 14:33Speaker 1: do it whenever you want to do it, and you
- 14:35Speaker 1: won't be penalized if you don't. How does that prepare
- 14:38Speaker 1: our children for the real world. This is what your
- 14:41Speaker 1: tax stars going to again, this is part of what
- 14:43Speaker 1: we need to do in an America days. Understand you
- 14:46Speaker 1: are enabling, enabling this destruction of America if you are
- 14:50Speaker 1: not involved and you don't get involved because you pay taxes.
- 14:56Speaker 1: For far too long, we've had lack of accountability for
- 14:59Speaker 1: our money. And I'm talking about lack of personal accountability.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I'm not talking about the government. The government figured it out.
- 15:04Speaker 1: They figured out that we're really stupid that will pay
- 15:07Speaker 1: our taxes, and they have an unlimited amount of firepower
- 15:11Speaker 1: financially to do whatever the hell they want to do. Financially,
- 15:16Speaker 1: they can indoctrinate your children, change this country, raise people
- 15:20Speaker 1: to hate America, and apparently there's nothing that we will
- 15:23Speaker 1: do to stop it. That is a problem, and that's
- 15:28Speaker 1: what we are doing. And that's exactly now what they're
- 15:31Speaker 1: teaching your kids. You don't have to worry about your behavior.
- 15:35Speaker 1: You can tell a teacher to blink off and you'll
- 15:36Speaker 1: still get an agg We're not going to judge you
- 15:39Speaker 1: for that. We're not going to penalize you for your
- 15:41Speaker 1: work habits. We're not going to penalize you for not studying.
- 15:43Speaker 1: We're not going to penalize you for missdeadlines. So imagine
- 15:47Speaker 1: the shell's shock when you go out into society and
- 15:50Speaker 1: you get your first job and you don't do your job,
- 15:52Speaker 1: or you don't show up on time and you get fired.
- 15:54Speaker 1: We raised you to say that you can basically make
- 15:57Speaker 1: your own rules, that everybody can do their own rules.
- 16:00Speaker 1: And if you out and and by the way, if
- 16:02Speaker 1: a boss tells you do something you don't want to
- 16:03Speaker 1: do it, you can tell them go to hell. And
- 16:05Speaker 1: if they fire you, you're gonna be angry because you
- 16:07Speaker 1: were taught that that's acceptable behavior in society, and we
- 16:10Speaker 1: graduated you with great grades because of it. It's teaching
- 16:14Speaker 1: students that failure is a part of learning. We fall,
- 16:17Speaker 1: we get back up, we learn from the feedback that
- 16:19Speaker 1: we get. That's what Alison Yoshimoto, a LA Unified Chief
- 16:25Speaker 1: Academic Officers said about the new guidelines. Traditional grading has
- 16:30Speaker 1: often been used to justify and to provide unequal educational
- 16:34Speaker 1: opportunities based on a student's race or class. So if
- 16:37Speaker 1: you're failing, you can just say, well, you're I'm failing
- 16:40Speaker 1: because I'm black, I'm Asian, I'm African American, I'm Indian,
- 16:44Speaker 1: I'm Mexican, I'm Hispanic, whatever whatever you identify as. I'm transgender.
- 16:48Speaker 1: We're now telling kids that if you are failing, it's
- 16:51Speaker 1: because someone is judging you based on race or class.
- 16:55Speaker 1: I'm poor. You can't expect me to turn in my work.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Senior Executive Director of the Division of Instruction to Principles
- 17:03Speaker 1: last month actually said justify Churchill grading has often been
- 17:08Speaker 1: used to justify it in to provide unequal educational opportunities
- 17:12Speaker 1: based on a student's race or class. That's what they
- 17:16Speaker 1: said in writing quote, by continue to use century old
- 17:20Speaker 1: grading practices, we inadvertently perpetuate achievement and opportunity gaps, rewarding
- 17:26Speaker 1: our most privileged students. So if you make AI's, it's
- 17:29Speaker 1: only because you're privileged. If you've turned your work in
- 17:32Speaker 1: on time, it's only because you're privileged. If you don't
- 17:35Speaker 1: have behavioral issues in the classroom, it's only because you're privileged.
- 17:40Speaker 1: We inadvertently perpetuate achievement and opportunity gaps, rewarding our most
- 17:43Speaker 1: privileged students and punish those who are not the letter
- 17:47Speaker 1: set quoting the educational grading consultant Joe Feldman, whoever the
- 17:51Speaker 1: hell that is? Quote. The ears of need to change
- 17:55Speaker 1: became painfully apparent during the pandemic, when schools were forced
- 17:58Speaker 1: to close as educators grappled with how to fairly grade
- 18:02Speaker 1: students living through an unpresent disruption to their education. Some
- 18:06Speaker 1: of the challenges that student face are unique to the pandemic.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Others had long been present and were more visible. Suddenly,
- 18:16Speaker 1: teachers had an inside view of the crowded home conditions
- 18:18Speaker 1: of some low income students. They saw how some teenagers
- 18:21Speaker 1: were caring for younger siblings while trying to do their
- 18:24Speaker 1: work and witness the impact of the digital divide as
- 18:27Speaker 1: students with spotty internet access struggled to log on to class.
- 18:32Speaker 1: The COVID pandemic just highlighted across the nation a trend
- 18:36Speaker 1: of looking at the inequalities in learning circumstances for students.
- 18:42Speaker 1: The director of ADG Intervention and Support for the LA
- 18:45Speaker 1: Unified School District said, saying, quote, but those different circumstances
- 18:49Speaker 1: of learning have always been present. Fieldman a former teacher
- 18:53Speaker 1: and administrator who wrote the book Grading for Equity, Grading
- 18:58Speaker 1: for Equity. It's a real book. People are reading this,
- 19:00Speaker 1: ying this crap. Have been working for several years of
- 19:02Speaker 1: school districts across the country as they reconsidered gritting policies.
- 19:06Speaker 1: In October November of twenty twenty one, twenty twenty two
- 19:09Speaker 1: academic school year, he suddenly found himself fielding a tidal
- 19:12Speaker 1: wave of calls from districts as teachers issued progress reports
- 19:16Speaker 1: and realize that ds and ss were skyrocketing. So instead
- 19:20Speaker 1: of actually admitting that, hey, we can't teach kids from
- 19:24Speaker 1: far away, we need to actually get our kids back
- 19:27Speaker 1: in the classroom. Instead of just admitting that maybe we
- 19:30Speaker 1: need to repeat a grade for many of these kids
- 19:32Speaker 1: that we just failed. We decided to go back and
- 19:35Speaker 1: claim and blame racism for the reason that we failed.
- 19:41Speaker 1: We claim that we need to change the entire way
- 19:43Speaker 1: we do education because of our screw up adults who
- 19:46Speaker 1: screwed up big time, and we are going to claim
- 19:49Speaker 1: that it's really an equity problem, it's a racism problem.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Their words, not mine. Now you look at this and
- 20:01Speaker 1: you listen to this, and what you clearly realize is
- 20:05Speaker 1: that what they've decided to do is to socially promote
- 20:08Speaker 1: and socially approve failure so that they are not held
- 20:14Speaker 1: accountable for their actions. You know, there are things that
- 20:19Speaker 1: happen in life that suck. I had friends that got
- 20:21Speaker 1: very sick. Some of them had issues with childhood cancer,
- 20:25Speaker 1: some of them had issues with major health conditions outside
- 20:30Speaker 1: of that, and they missed so much school they had
- 20:32Speaker 1: to repeat a grade, apply these new rules, and you
- 20:37Speaker 1: just say, socially promote them, and then when they're behind
- 20:40Speaker 1: the next year, instead of actually fixing that problem, they
- 20:42Speaker 1: would say, well, it's not the kid's fault. They had
- 20:44Speaker 1: cancer when they were in second grade. Will socially promote
- 20:47Speaker 1: them all the way through, and there's no reason not
- 20:50Speaker 1: to because we're just helping the kid out. You're not.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I go back to the story I mentioned the other
- 20:55Speaker 1: day about a kid that graduated value Victorias class, got
- 21:01Speaker 1: a job out of high school, didn't go to college,
- 21:03Speaker 1: and he was an incredibly bright kid. Unfortunately he was
- 21:08Speaker 1: failed by the school district. The employer realized that he
- 21:11Speaker 1: had a hard time doing basic reading. They got their employee,
- 21:14Speaker 1: who they were supporting, tested. You want to know what
- 21:17Speaker 1: they found out the kid at a fourth grade reading level.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Fourth grade. They didn't fire the kid, They got him
- 21:23Speaker 1: a tutor, They mentored the kid, and they did what
- 21:26Speaker 1: the state didn't do for a decade. For a decade,
- 21:33Speaker 1: We're about to have that story every day of the
- 21:34Speaker 1: week because we've now decided the teachers unions have decided
- 21:38Speaker 1: that will blame everything on race, will blame everything on income,
- 21:41Speaker 1: and instead of actually going back and re teaching what
- 21:44Speaker 1: we didn't teach kids last year, we're going to just
- 21:47Speaker 1: give them a different way of grading so we socially
- 21:49Speaker 1: promote them and move them down the road, and then
- 21:51Speaker 1: we claim this is good for society. This is corruption, fraud,
- 21:58Speaker 1: and a Ponzi scheme. I would argue that it's time
- 22:01Speaker 1: for students and parents to sue because they're defrauding your
- 22:05Speaker 1: children of a education. This is fraud. If you invested
- 22:12Speaker 1: in a company and they did this, people would go
- 22:15Speaker 1: to jail. Instead, we're celebrating it nationwide with our children's future.
- 22:21Speaker 1: You are defrauding a kid, every kid that's under these
- 22:25Speaker 1: new rules of a quality, not just quality, a basic education.
- 22:31Speaker 1: You know, you look at the media right now and
- 22:33Speaker 1: as these grades are being changed by these teachers because
- 22:38Speaker 1: they don't want to admit failure of distance learning, they
- 22:41Speaker 1: don't want to actually teach kids what they missed last year.
- 22:45Speaker 1: So we're just going to totally funningly change public education
- 22:48Speaker 1: in this country and blame it on racism and socioeconomic conditions.
- 22:53Speaker 1: The media is doing something else. They're telling you that
- 22:55Speaker 1: what you're hearing and what you're seeing is not even true.
- 22:58Speaker 1: It's not even real. You know, they've been saying critical
- 23:01Speaker 1: race theory isn't even being taught in schools, that this
- 23:04Speaker 1: is the big fake boogeyman that's been created by conservatives.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Even though we know there's curriculum, we know there's receipts.
- 23:09Speaker 1: We know people are being paid to teach critical race theory.
- 23:12Speaker 1: We know we're in doctrine and kids. I played for
- 23:14Speaker 1: you earlier MSNBC talking about, well, maybe we need to
- 23:17Speaker 1: call it something different, right, let's not call it critical
- 23:20Speaker 1: race SERI, but we need to teach it. Well, CNN's
- 23:23Speaker 1: gone with a different approach. They're just telling you that
- 23:25Speaker 1: it's not being taught. It's delusional. They're actually claiming that
- 23:28Speaker 1: no one is being no one is being taught critical
- 23:31Speaker 1: race SERI in Virginia. And then the reason why Democrats
- 23:34Speaker 1: lost the elections because of a big lie by Republicans.
- 23:36Speaker 1: They doubled down on that when they had on a
- 23:40Speaker 1: guest from the NRSC, the chairman a Republican, Rick Scott,
- 23:44Speaker 1: on whether Junken ignored Trump. Ignoring Trump is the blueprint
- 23:50Speaker 1: for how to get Republicans elected. That's so they claimed
- 23:53Speaker 1: they were having him on New Day for this morning.
- 23:56Speaker 1: That's what they claimed, right, We're gonna have you on
- 23:59Speaker 1: to talk about did Yun can run away from Trump?
- 24:01Speaker 1: And maybe that's why I got elected? He ignored Trump,
- 24:03Speaker 1: which isn't what happened at all. But that's the new line, right,
- 24:07Speaker 1: don't be a Trump person. Run away from Trump and
- 24:09Speaker 1: you might get elected. And the real reason why I
- 24:11Speaker 1: got elected because he lied to the people about critical
- 24:13Speaker 1: race theory. Take a listen to this exchange. They're trying
- 24:16Speaker 1: to make you believe that critical race theory is not
- 24:18Speaker 1: being taught when we know it is. For fact, I
- 24:20Speaker 1: think I think what I think when Democrats going to
- 24:22Speaker 1: continue to do is talk about Donald Trump. I think
- 24:24Speaker 1: Republican is going to continue to talk about issues. Glenn
- 24:27Speaker 1: Yunkan won his race because he talked about issues, and
- 24:30Speaker 1: I think that's what's going to happen. What we're gonna
- 24:33Speaker 1: see is just like just like in Virginia, Terry mccaulloff
- 24:37Speaker 1: wanted to say, oh, there was nothing about critical race theory.
- 24:39Speaker 1: We know that, we know it's true. Parents know it's
- 24:43Speaker 1: been Their kids are being indoctorated with critical race theory
- 24:45Speaker 1: in Virginia and the Democrats going to deny it, and
- 24:49Speaker 1: so we showed up because they don't like to. I mean,
- 24:52Speaker 1: just just to be clear, it's not it's not in
- 24:54Speaker 1: the curriculum um in Virginia. Just just to be which
- 24:58Speaker 1: gonna be here. Let me just read your few th
- 25:00Speaker 1: in twenty fifteen, Well, Terry mccaugh was governor the Virginia
- 25:03Speaker 1: Department of Education promoting incorporating and critical race theory lends
- 25:07Speaker 1: in education. You can still find it on the Department
- 25:10Speaker 1: of Education's website, still there in fairy tent nineteen Superintent
- 25:14Speaker 1: memo for the Virginia Department of Education promoting crystal race
- 25:17Speaker 1: theory in the idea of white fragility. It's not i'd
- 25:21Speaker 1: yesterday ask you I love this. Do you hear Brianna
- 25:26Speaker 1: Keiler like, Oh crap, I'm I'm I'm a propaganist. I'm
- 25:29Speaker 1: not a not a journalist. I just lie to the country.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I keep telling them over again, over and over again,
- 25:34Speaker 1: it's not being taught in Virginia, and therefore people will
- 25:38Speaker 1: believe me because I'm in the media and I'm holier
- 25:40Speaker 1: than now. Senator Rick Scott Chamber of the nash Republican
- 25:42Speaker 1: Central Committee is reading for her on the website of
- 25:45Speaker 1: the Virginia government dot gov website, where critical race theory
- 25:50Speaker 1: has actually not only been taught, but the curriculum is
- 25:53Speaker 1: actually being paid for by taxpayer dollars. And she's saying
- 25:56Speaker 1: it's not being taught. Yes, it is, no it's not. Yes,
- 25:58Speaker 1: it is. This is how the they're no longer journalists
- 26:01Speaker 1: in society today. There are propagandists for the Biden administration
- 26:06Speaker 1: and for the liberal Democrats, and Brianna Killer is a
- 26:09Speaker 1: perfect example that she lied, just to be clear about
- 26:14Speaker 1: lets they were trying to indoctrinate kids. Terry mcculloff denied it.
- 26:19Speaker 1: It's still on the website. It is. This is happening,
- 26:24Speaker 1: and I hope Democrats continue to say it's not happening
- 26:28Speaker 1: because parents are dumb. They can see it. Your parents
- 26:34Speaker 1: are dumb, you said, aren't dumb. No, they're not. I
- 26:39Speaker 1: think parents are smart. My parents didn't have much of
- 26:41Speaker 1: a formal education, but they cared about what I learned this.
- 26:45Speaker 1: I just I just want to be clear. The station
- 26:48Speaker 1: promoted critical race theory and and Terry mcculloff said they didn't.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I hope, Okay, listens keep doing that all the country. Fine,
- 26:57Speaker 1: it's not part of the curriculum. I would like to
- 26:59Speaker 1: move on with you. I want to talk specifically, and
- 27:01Speaker 1: I just want to be clear about something, just about
- 27:03Speaker 1: where you personally are. I love this. She just says, well,
- 27:06Speaker 1: it's not part of the curriculum. He just read from
- 27:08Speaker 1: the website where it's a part of the curriculum, and
- 27:11Speaker 1: now she says, I'd like to move on. This is
- 27:13Speaker 1: how CNN host claims Kurric Racer he isn't being taught
- 27:16Speaker 1: virgin the schools and gets wrecked because of the actual
- 27:18Speaker 1: receipts where where this was actually being approved, funded and bought.
- 27:24Speaker 1: And then when she gets busted, she has what's it's
- 27:26Speaker 1: not being taught. It's not it's not officially being taught.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I'd like to move on with you, senator. I bet
- 27:30Speaker 1: you you would. I bet you you would love to
- 27:33Speaker 1: move on from this, because this is the last thing
- 27:36Speaker 1: you want to be talked about, that you guys lie
- 27:39Speaker 1: and that you guys are wrong. Glenn Yunkin he said,
- 27:44Speaker 1: you know what, we are going to launch an aggressive,
- 27:48Speaker 1: aggressive charter school program because he realizes that public education
- 27:53Speaker 1: is actually broken in his state where he just got reelected.
- 27:58Speaker 1: And this is the reason why Democrats are having to
- 28:01Speaker 1: figure out a way to change grades for kids. Imagine
- 28:05Speaker 1: how bad this makes the public school system look that
- 28:09Speaker 1: you are changing grades, but they say, hey, it's better
- 28:13Speaker 1: than failing kids. Flat out. What is manipulating and change
- 28:16Speaker 1: the system? You fail. No, you didn't. We'll socially promote you,
- 28:20Speaker 1: and we'll claim the reason why it is because you're black,
- 28:22Speaker 1: or you're brown, or you're a minority, or you're poor.
- 28:26Speaker 1: We're not going to fail you because you didn't do
- 28:28Speaker 1: your work. We're not gonna fail you for your behavioral issues.
- 28:31Speaker 1: We're not going to fail you because you missed a deadline.
- 28:34Speaker 1: We're gonna look at your socioeconomic conditions, and we're gonna
- 28:37Speaker 1: look at the color of your skin, and then we
- 28:39Speaker 1: are going to use that as a reason to actually
- 28:42Speaker 1: move you forward. Right, We're gonna we're gonna actually do
- 28:45Speaker 1: this in a way to move you forward in our society.
- 28:49Speaker 1: And then one day you're going to be screwed. Right,
- 28:52Speaker 1: one day you're gonna be screwed. But you'll won't be
- 28:54Speaker 1: our problem then, because we gave you eighteen years of propaganda,
- 29:00Speaker 1: well years, I say a propaganda. We made you feel
- 29:03Speaker 1: good about yourself. Now, when you get your first job
- 29:05Speaker 1: and you don't do your work, you're gonna get fired.
- 29:06Speaker 1: When you do get your first job, you don't show
- 29:08Speaker 1: up on time, you're gonna get fired. When you do
- 29:09Speaker 1: your first job, get your first job and you mouth
- 29:11Speaker 1: off to your supervisor and they fire you for insubordination.
- 29:15Speaker 1: That's not on us. You'll just be a part of
- 29:16Speaker 1: the government system now and we'll give you money and
- 29:18Speaker 1: you'll stay home and you'll be poor. It's modern day slavery.
- 29:21Speaker 1: That's what they're creating. This isn't success. This is a
- 29:25Speaker 1: guaranteed path for failure. Glenn Yunkin and what he said
- 29:30Speaker 1: about we're gonna grow aggressive with charge school programs means
- 29:34Speaker 1: he's admitting the public schools are so broken you cannot
- 29:36Speaker 1: fix them. And then we started working yesterday on our
- 29:39Speaker 1: transition and there's a lot to do and I'm really
- 29:42Speaker 1: looking forward to get into work. And what a campaign
- 29:45Speaker 1: it has been. You really zeroed in on what Virginians
- 29:49Speaker 1: wanted to see and what was important to them a
- 29:52Speaker 1: governor elect. Tell us a little about that agenda. The
- 29:55Speaker 1: other day I heard you say we are going to
- 29:58Speaker 1: make sure to engage with parents. We are going to
- 30:00Speaker 1: make sure to give kids the tools to have them
- 30:03Speaker 1: running strong, running fast. What are those tools? How will
- 30:08Speaker 1: you change the education framework in Virginia. Well, we're going
- 30:14Speaker 1: to raise expectations in our schools. They've been watered down
- 30:17Speaker 1: over time and children should be held to high standards,
- 30:21Speaker 1: not low standards. Of course, we have to help those
- 30:23Speaker 1: that might need help. We're going to fund in the
- 30:25Speaker 1: largest education budget in the history of Virginia. We need
- 30:28Speaker 1: to raise teacher salaries. We've got to fund into facilities.
- 30:31Speaker 1: We're going to fund into our special education programs. You know,
- 30:34Speaker 1: Virginia's kids with disabilities have really suffered during this pandemic.
- 30:38Speaker 1: But we're going to launch an aggressive charter school program
- 30:41Speaker 1: as well. He's fighting back. Let's go back to the
- 30:44Speaker 1: woke liberal left right. Last year, West contract Coast to
- 30:48Speaker 1: Unified school district, which is majority of Latino, issued a
- 30:52Speaker 1: memo mandating I'm sorry there weren't encouraging secondary teachers to
- 30:56Speaker 1: give students a minimum five day grace period to earning
- 31:00Speaker 1: work and eliminate zeros in the grading books. Place or
- 31:04Speaker 1: Union high school district, where a majority of the students
- 31:06Speaker 1: are white, has directed teachers to base grades on quote,
- 31:10Speaker 1: valid evidence of a student's content, knowledge, and not on
- 31:14Speaker 1: evidence that it likely that is likely to be influenced
- 31:17Speaker 1: by teachers implicit bias, racism, nor reflect on students circumstances,
- 31:23Speaker 1: so punish the white kids. In Los Angeles, the district
- 31:26Speaker 1: has begun to train teachers on practices, including basing grades
- 31:30Speaker 1: on whether students are meeting academic standards, But when faced
- 31:34Speaker 1: with a flood of deason after during a school closure,
- 31:36Speaker 1: officials quickly moved to change policy, given students additional time
- 31:39Speaker 1: to make up work even into the summer, giving them incompletes.
- 31:43Speaker 1: A recent LA Times analysis of the LA Unified Assessment
- 31:48Speaker 1: and grade data showed how grades fell significantly, which are
- 31:52Speaker 1: just going to happen during school closures for students in
- 31:55Speaker 1: Los Angeles. They're now claiming that's because of the colored
- 31:59Speaker 1: people's skin. They said, the gap and grades that existed
- 32:02Speaker 1: before the pandemic between black and Latino students and white
- 32:05Speaker 1: and aging counterparts widened to as much as twenty one
- 32:08Speaker 1: percentage points. Therefore, we must fix the system, meaning we
- 32:12Speaker 1: must change grades. During the twenty eighteen nineteen school year,
- 32:17Speaker 1: about fifty nine percent of students met the requirements for
- 32:20Speaker 1: certain courses, with a seer better. For the class of
- 32:23Speaker 1: twenty twenty, only forty six percent of students are on
- 32:25Speaker 1: track to meet the requirements. Anybody's going to be held back.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Note where you're going to change the way we give
- 32:30Speaker 1: grades and make it look like they're still being successful
- 32:33Speaker 1: when we're not. This is a Ponzi scheme and this
- 32:35Speaker 1: is happening at every public school in America today where
- 32:39Speaker 1: they're pushing this critical race theory crap. CNN will tell
- 32:42Speaker 1: you it's not being taught when it is. We have
- 32:44Speaker 1: the receipts to prove it, and they still say, nope,
- 32:46Speaker 1: you're lying. The media refuses to tell you the truth,
- 32:49Speaker 1: saying everything's a problem because a race. And so when
- 32:52Speaker 1: your kid graduates, even if their value Victorian were on
- 32:55Speaker 1: a fourth grade reading level, just know you were a
- 32:59Speaker 1: part of the Ponzi scheme. You help fund it, you
- 33:01Speaker 1: help pay for it. This is why it's time to
- 33:03Speaker 1: actually fight back. I hope every one of you will
- 33:07Speaker 1: share this with your family and friends this podcast. We
- 33:09Speaker 1: need to get this info out there. It's important we
- 33:12Speaker 1: get it out there, and it's important that people understand
- 33:15Speaker 1: that we're giving out fake grades. This is a Ponzi scheme,
- 33:18Speaker 1: a Ponzi scheme that those that did Ponzi schemes would
- 33:21Speaker 1: be proud of. Bernie Madoffs would love this scheme. It's
- 33:25Speaker 1: in the billions of dollars a year that we spend
- 33:28Speaker 1: on public education, and now we are basically saying we're
- 33:31Speaker 1: not gonna graduate or we're not going to educate your kids.
- 33:33Speaker 1: We're just gonna graduate them, and when they fail out
- 33:36Speaker 1: in the real world, it's fine because then they'll be
- 33:38Speaker 1: on the government dime for the rest of their lives
- 33:40Speaker 1: and will own them like modern day slavery.
