- 1:45Speaker 1: is a very very popular film and television actress. You've
- 1:48Speaker 1: seen here in movies like Thinking Like a Man, Think
- 1:50Speaker 1: Like a Man Too, The Intruder and Shazam of next year,
- 1:54Speaker 1: Starr and Sony's Monster Hunter, which will be released hopefully
- 1:57Speaker 1: this year and when the pandemic years. So every thing's
- 2:00Speaker 1: kind of odd, but this movie Monster Harner's Everybody's waiting
- 2:03Speaker 1: to see that movie that she's starting in. She was
- 2:05Speaker 1: recently seen on owns new series of Girlfriends check in.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I checked it out myself. She wrote a game chamming
- 2:12Speaker 1: relationship book with her husband entitled The Weight At Powerful
- 2:15Speaker 1: Practice for finding the Love of your Life and the
- 2:18Speaker 1: Life you Love, which I love that title. She's a philanthropist,
- 2:21Speaker 1: started the Greater the Greater Good Foundation with her sister
- 2:25Speaker 1: and an entrepreneur. Were Good Girl raps a boy making good.
- 2:28Speaker 1: They're a multi multifunctional hair accessory that could be warm
- 2:32Speaker 1: when you're out and about, work out a bedtime. Look,
- 2:35Speaker 1: I am going to buy that for my daughter. Please,
- 2:38Speaker 1: working with money, making conversations making good. Uh, it's so
- 2:46Speaker 1: funny to make. And I saw the raps right, and
- 2:49Speaker 1: so because I was, I said, my daughter was upsjested.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I said, I said, that name is christ Christie. How
- 2:54Speaker 1: to get out here? I gotta show your something. I
- 2:55Speaker 1: gotta show you something simple. You know, she's twined two
- 3:00Speaker 1: senior in college. I think I finally found something because
- 3:03Speaker 1: she comes down here with these things on her hair. Megan,
- 3:05Speaker 1: I'll be like, I'll just be staring on this is
- 3:08Speaker 1: not We do have money, baby, we do have a
- 3:11Speaker 1: little money. You can do better than that. And so
- 3:14Speaker 1: I showed her this and she said, uh, Dad, she
- 3:18Speaker 1: picked out like three different options that we're gonna buy it.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Just tell us about the whole concert. I'm just letting
- 3:22Speaker 1: you know as a man, I saw it, our dad,
- 3:25Speaker 1: I saw it. I fell in love when my daughter
- 3:27Speaker 1: picked out three of them, and I think they're just beautiful.
- 3:30Speaker 1: You can we can you know when you go to
- 3:32Speaker 1: the store. She can wear them. When she goes to
- 3:34Speaker 1: the gym, she can work out in him. She can,
- 3:37Speaker 1: thank God, she can go to sleep and wake up.
- 3:39Speaker 1: And I'm not terrified when she comes into the kitchen.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Well I don't know what she got on her head, Megan,
- 3:45Speaker 1: but at least when she comes to the kitchen now
- 3:47Speaker 1: with your your half your hair wrap, I'll be excited
- 3:50Speaker 1: and thankful that she's my daughter. I gotta tell you
- 3:58Speaker 1: the truth. Now I'll be struggling with the head wrap
- 4:00Speaker 1: that I don't know. You know, we, like I said,
- 4:02Speaker 1: we had a little success making in that life. But
- 4:04Speaker 1: the good Year rap that you have produced all my
- 4:07Speaker 1: favorites now okay, oh yeah, yeah, I was like super
- 4:12Speaker 1: excited to create them because you know, um from one
- 4:15Speaker 1: of my stylists, Um, I have two Nfia Oliver and
- 4:19Speaker 1: carry and we created the Goddess locks the dreadlocks look together. Um.
- 4:24Speaker 1: And so what happened was I was wearing the style
- 4:26Speaker 1: so much and I was going to the gym gym
- 4:28Speaker 1: and trying to work out, and everything I did my
- 4:30Speaker 1: hair was flipping my face and then I'd be trying
- 4:32Speaker 1: to wash my face and I couldn't sleep comfortably and
- 4:35Speaker 1: images like the whole thing. And so we developed this
- 4:38Speaker 1: rap and it literally was like a lifesaver. And then
- 4:40Speaker 1: the more I mean, we're at workout videos, people would
- 4:42Speaker 1: ask like, well, where did you get that? And what
- 4:43Speaker 1: is that? And I was like, you know what, I
- 4:44Speaker 1: just need to create a line and make them available
- 4:47Speaker 1: and also just make it so people can choose their
- 4:49Speaker 1: different styles and look better fits like you know, how
- 4:52Speaker 1: they want wanted to be. So that's really how it
- 4:55Speaker 1: came about. And uh and it did really really well.
- 4:58Speaker 1: The first day we sold out on the collection and
- 5:01Speaker 1: congratulations from the second collection, thank you, And so we're
- 5:05Speaker 1: getting ready to start the third collection now. And the
- 5:07Speaker 1: cool thing is like, you know, I'm able to see
- 5:10Speaker 1: people's input like oh, I would really like to see
- 5:12Speaker 1: more of this kind of color, that kind of color,
- 5:14Speaker 1: more printed whatever, so that's that's the full thing is
- 5:17Speaker 1: like every collection, I really take people input into account
- 5:20Speaker 1: and try to create something that all women feel good
- 5:23Speaker 1: and comfortable with and even some men are able to
- 5:25Speaker 1: wear them as well. So I saw that, I saw
- 5:27Speaker 1: some photos, you know, and of course you know if
- 5:28Speaker 1: you have dreadlocks and things like that, and you know,
- 5:31Speaker 1: they definitely will be perfect for that. And I thought
- 5:33Speaker 1: that were just all I know is that when I
- 5:36Speaker 1: saw it, I immediately liked it and I felt this
- 5:38Speaker 1: was a natural, comfortable look. It could be jazz. So
- 5:40Speaker 1: you can wear them out, you know, to a restaurant,
- 5:43Speaker 1: you can wear you know, you we out to if
- 5:45Speaker 1: you depending on the look that you buy, I want
- 5:48Speaker 1: to feel well, you can go out to a party
- 5:49Speaker 1: with I'm wearing it. So I really felt comfortable with
- 5:52Speaker 1: the look, and I just I was excited about you
- 5:54Speaker 1: coming on my shoulder discuss it, and because as an entrepreneur, no,
- 5:58Speaker 1: we all have great ideas, and so how you know,
- 6:01Speaker 1: you talked about the journey about it, you know, because
- 6:04Speaker 1: it was just your idea. What made it real though,
- 6:07Speaker 1: what made it like, okay, well let's do this. Because
- 6:10Speaker 1: a lot of people stopped at the idea because they
- 6:12Speaker 1: don't think nobody's gonna buy it, or nobody's gonna even
- 6:16Speaker 1: want to show them how to produce it, right. I mean,
- 6:20Speaker 1: I was already working um with another company. I was
- 6:24Speaker 1: creating a line of flannels because you know, I'm an
- 6:27Speaker 1: eighties baby, so in the nineties, you know, and flannels
- 6:31Speaker 1: was always like a stable part of your outfit. So
- 6:33Speaker 1: I was already creating a flannel line with my sister,
- 6:36Speaker 1: and where the money that we were raising through the
- 6:40Speaker 1: flannel line was going to our foundations, and so I
- 6:42Speaker 1: already had the relationship. And what I realized is, you know,
- 6:45Speaker 1: once I was wearing my wrap, if people just kept
- 6:48Speaker 1: asking for a year, the question never stopped and people
- 6:51Speaker 1: were always interested. So I was like, all right, it's
- 6:53Speaker 1: been a consistent thing. People are into it. I think
- 6:56Speaker 1: they'll buy it. Let's just you know, give it a
- 6:58Speaker 1: run and we'll see what happens. And um, and people
- 7:01Speaker 1: really took to other really well. So I was like, okay, well,
- 7:03Speaker 1: let's you know, create even more. And so it's it's been.
- 7:06Speaker 1: It's been really great. Because I know, as a woman,
- 7:09Speaker 1: whether you have dread twists, bread, big curly hair that
- 7:14Speaker 1: you don't want to wash and style every day or
- 7:16Speaker 1: whatever it is. Like, I know for a fact that
- 7:18Speaker 1: this is the product that I would use and I
- 7:20Speaker 1: wish I had earlier, And that made me feel confident
- 7:23Speaker 1: that somebody's going to get some great use out of this.
- 7:26Speaker 1: So congratulations again. You know, when I look at you,
- 7:30Speaker 1: when I look at your career, like when I was
- 7:31Speaker 1: managing Steve Harvard when we started together back in two thousand,
- 7:35Speaker 1: the first time I really got to see you and
- 7:37Speaker 1: introduce myself to you was the movie You Got Served,
- 7:41Speaker 1: And uh, that's way you know, it's way back then,
- 7:44Speaker 1: way back then. Just to talk about your your body
- 7:47Speaker 1: of work, because you begin starting in commercial at the
- 7:49Speaker 1: age of four, and I've done over sixty thousand, sixty
- 7:52Speaker 1: sixty national TV commercial in an untold number of films
- 7:56Speaker 1: and television shows. I just only missed a small my
- 8:00Speaker 1: of your success. In fact, I didn't even mention any
- 8:01Speaker 1: of the television series that you've started very successful on.
- 8:05Speaker 1: So how what has helped you to make that transition
- 8:10Speaker 1: from a child star to an adult star, because that's
- 8:13Speaker 1: a hard make sometimes because you're so cute to qute see,
- 8:17Speaker 1: and when you become an adult people don't buy the
- 8:19Speaker 1: cute cute see, or you don't mature correctly, or you
- 8:21Speaker 1: don't have the support system. What has helped you, megan? Um?
- 8:26Speaker 1: I think you know. The first thing was like prayer.
- 8:29Speaker 1: You know, when I was nineteen, I was I was struggling.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I still looked fifteen sixteen, And it was the first
- 8:34Speaker 1: time in my life I was like, Okay, I'm seeing
- 8:36Speaker 1: people around me getting work and I'm not getting work.
- 8:39Speaker 1: So the first time I prayed, I was like, all right, God,
- 8:41Speaker 1: is this what I'm supposed to be doing. And here's
- 8:44Speaker 1: the thing. I'm gonna just put it on the altar
- 8:46Speaker 1: and say, I want what you want for me more
- 8:48Speaker 1: than what I think I want for myself. One more time.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Now there's like in church, and I say that one
- 8:52Speaker 1: more time. Come on later, I want what you want
- 8:55Speaker 1: for me more than what I think I want for myself.
- 8:57Speaker 1: There you go. Um. And so I was the first
- 9:00Speaker 1: time I had gotten confirmation that this is the business
- 9:03Speaker 1: that I should be in. But that's it's bigger than
- 9:06Speaker 1: than you know, being able to do something that I
- 9:08Speaker 1: love and I'm passionate about. It's bigger than being in
- 9:11Speaker 1: an industry. People consider you celebrity or whatever it is.
- 9:13Speaker 1: It's bigger than all that. It's really about using the
- 9:16Speaker 1: platform that God has given you as an ability to
- 9:19Speaker 1: as an opportunity to build the kingdom, and to really
- 9:22Speaker 1: be used in whatever way He wants to use me.
- 9:24Speaker 1: So once I got that confirmation, that gave me the
- 9:27Speaker 1: confidence to know that, like, okay, so I'm gonna be
- 9:30Speaker 1: okay because this is bigger than me anyways. And I
- 9:32Speaker 1: just kept trucking along and trying to make smart decisions
- 9:36Speaker 1: um and and you know, show however I could like okay,
- 9:40Speaker 1: I'm becoming a woman now and trying to watch that
- 9:42Speaker 1: that balance because you know, at that time, there was
- 9:44Speaker 1: all the men's magazines and I did a bunch of them,
- 9:47Speaker 1: but I made Yeah, when I did it, it it was
- 9:51Speaker 1: like okay, so no baby, when you did them, we're
- 9:56Speaker 1: talking about the king magazines and all those type of
- 9:58Speaker 1: magazines and were were but they said a bad message
- 10:02Speaker 1: or the incorrect message of who your or what your
- 10:04Speaker 1: brand or who you represented. Don't you think? No, I don't,
- 10:08Speaker 1: because I think at that time that is who I was,
- 10:12Speaker 1: you know. And my thing is like I've you know,
- 10:15Speaker 1: I've I've come under fire a lot about saying like,
- 10:18Speaker 1: as a Christian, I don't mind being sexy, and I
- 10:20Speaker 1: own that part of myself. I love that part of myself.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Um and what I realized, you know, my my journey
- 10:27Speaker 1: has been unique to you know, I didn't grow up
- 10:29Speaker 1: in the church, but my mother was always read your Bible,
- 10:31Speaker 1: get to know God, have a relationship, not a religion
- 10:35Speaker 1: with Him. And so as I pursued a relationship with God,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I got saved when I was twelve. I got three
- 10:39Speaker 1: baptized when I was nineteen on my own. So at
- 10:42Speaker 1: that time and I was doing the King magazines, a
- 10:44Speaker 1: Black Man or whatever it was, and I was three,
- 10:47Speaker 1: my feeling was like, I'm gonna own who I am
- 10:51Speaker 1: and be comfortable with who I am. But what I'm
- 10:52Speaker 1: gonna do is I'm gonna go into a place that
- 10:54Speaker 1: some would consider dark and I'm gonna spread light. So
- 10:57Speaker 1: if you look at each one of those interviews, not
- 11:00Speaker 1: only did I not wear you know, lingerie or bathing suits,
- 11:03Speaker 1: or do any backshots or anything that was too suggested
- 11:06Speaker 1: that item feel comfortable in my spirit about, but I
- 11:09Speaker 1: also every single interview I talked about God. I talked
- 11:11Speaker 1: about my relationship with that I talked about being a Christians.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I talked about there's a there's a way to still
- 11:17Speaker 1: be comfortable with your sexuality without overtly, you know, doing
- 11:21Speaker 1: things that are really about look at me, look at
- 11:23Speaker 1: me versus I love me. I embraced me, And so
- 11:26Speaker 1: for me, it was it was walking a line of
- 11:28Speaker 1: like what feels right in my spirit that I'm not
- 11:31Speaker 1: lying to myself. I'm being honest, like whatever God places
- 11:34Speaker 1: in my spirit, I'm owning that. But I'm also not
- 11:37Speaker 1: conforming to what people say a Christians should be because
- 11:41Speaker 1: I know my heart and I know who I am
- 11:43Speaker 1: at the core, and God knows me and we talk.
- 11:46Speaker 1: So at the end of the day, I can do
- 11:48Speaker 1: religious and I can do what people think I should
- 11:50Speaker 1: do and who they think I should be, or I
- 11:52Speaker 1: can own who I am and every season and allow
- 11:54Speaker 1: me and allow Him to guide me. And so that's
- 11:58Speaker 1: what I did. And so I think my my journey
- 12:00Speaker 1: has definitely been an interesting one, but I've always been
- 12:04Speaker 1: with God do all of it. That's beautiful, and that's beautiful,
- 12:08Speaker 1: and I'm glad you're saying that. That's why I'm kind
- 12:09Speaker 1: of like being quiet. Let you say your conversation because
- 12:13Speaker 1: people need to hear without interruption, the message you're trying
- 12:16Speaker 1: to deliver. And that's important because of the fact that
- 12:19Speaker 1: you know, we we we we have preconceived notions of
- 12:22Speaker 1: who people are just how they look or just how
- 12:24Speaker 1: they dress. And that's what you're saying, Okay, I embrace
- 12:28Speaker 1: who I am, but that doesn't mean I can't embrace
- 12:30Speaker 1: my love of God or the respect that I had
- 12:32Speaker 1: for him. And if you want to read something differently,
- 12:35Speaker 1: but whilere you looking at that photo, read the article.
- 12:38Speaker 1: How about that, read the story, opened the book, okay,
- 12:42Speaker 1: and and go through, go through the messages. I'm trying
- 12:45Speaker 1: to tell the consistent values I'm trying to say. And
- 12:47Speaker 1: I think for young people that that's important because especially
- 12:51Speaker 1: with social media today, we can get caught up and
- 12:53Speaker 1: likes and getting caught up and and trying to we
- 12:57Speaker 1: look in a certain way and pose a certain way
- 12:59Speaker 1: in order to grow our and base. And you're saying that, honestly, honestly,
- 13:03Speaker 1: what yourself is the key to that. That's what you're saying, Like, yeah, transparency.
- 13:07Speaker 1: What people are gonna respond to is you not trying
- 13:11Speaker 1: to be anybody else, but being yourself. The honest people
- 13:14Speaker 1: who are gonna like you, dig you, that are going
- 13:16Speaker 1: to be your tribe and support you, are going to
- 13:18Speaker 1: support the truest version of you. So I'm comfortable with
- 13:22Speaker 1: knowing that at ten years old, I was doing off
- 13:25Speaker 1: Broadway shows with drag Queens, and I'm still a Christian.
- 13:28Speaker 1: So the way I see the world, the way I
- 13:30Speaker 1: perceived drag Queens, the way I perceive a lot of
- 13:32Speaker 1: things may be different than some other Christians, but I
- 13:36Speaker 1: know that God allowed me to have that experience and
- 13:38Speaker 1: the mindset that I have. When we talk about what's
- 13:41Speaker 1: appropriate or with modest, well, my different my version of
- 13:43Speaker 1: modest is gonna be different than yours based on my upbringing.
- 13:46Speaker 1: So as long as I own that and I lean
- 13:49Speaker 1: into like God, what do you say as it pertains
- 13:51Speaker 1: to me, that's the only thing I have to do.
- 13:54Speaker 1: And I try to encourage other people, especially young people
- 13:57Speaker 1: to do that as well, because they think that if
- 13:59Speaker 1: you don't fit into a and box, you can't. You
- 14:01Speaker 1: have to choose to do that box. And having a
- 14:02Speaker 1: relationship without or not having a relationship with do you
- 14:05Speaker 1: have a podcast because you have a partner? Come tell
- 14:08Speaker 1: you some girl, you I'm tell you, you know, I
- 14:11Speaker 1: like to believe I recognize talent. Okay, you got you
- 14:14Speaker 1: got the acting down path, but your motivational skill and
- 14:17Speaker 1: your own point about what young people need to hear
- 14:20Speaker 1: and old people need to get people in general, male
- 14:22Speaker 1: and female, everybody, because your your conversation is welcoming to everybody.
- 14:27Speaker 1: And if you have thought about doing a podcast, start
- 14:30Speaker 1: if you have thought, because I feel that your message
- 14:34Speaker 1: and then you know it needs to be heard if
- 14:36Speaker 1: you just just think about it, like you said, if
- 14:39Speaker 1: you never, I'm sure you've heard this before, just like
- 14:41Speaker 1: the wraps. You know, people kept telling you, girl, I
- 14:44Speaker 1: need that, I need it. I need that when McDonald's
- 14:46Speaker 1: come along. You know something, um excuse me. You need
- 14:51Speaker 1: to be worldwide on your own platform or your message
- 14:55Speaker 1: won't be interrupted and you can share and get other
- 14:58Speaker 1: like minded people who look like or don't look like you,
- 15:01Speaker 1: and be able to you know, this is about love,
- 15:04Speaker 1: your message about love. It is so clean. When I
- 15:07Speaker 1: hear you talk, Megan, it's amazing. It's just like it's
- 15:11Speaker 1: like drinking a good cold glass of water on a
- 15:14Speaker 1: hot sunny day. Oh it feels good, Oh it feels good.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Don't it. Oh my god, you go, oh, I feel
- 15:21Speaker 1: good and that's what. Then you're talking so clean, there's
- 15:23Speaker 1: no stuttering, there's no there's no pause about no revelation. Well,
- 15:28Speaker 1: let me think about it. It's just like I said, well,
- 15:30Speaker 1: do you think that was against your bread? No? No,
- 15:32Speaker 1: it was not you. You did not like you didn't
- 15:35Speaker 1: like hesitate, Rachal. I know who I am, and that
- 15:37Speaker 1: is important when people get caught up, get caught up
- 15:40Speaker 1: in decipher bullying, get caught up and should I look
- 15:43Speaker 1: this way? Should A dressed this way? And you're saying
- 15:46Speaker 1: God defines you, believe in him, believe in yourself and
- 15:50Speaker 1: don't don't. Let's they say, um, veer left or rock
- 15:54Speaker 1: and that's what you're saying, beautiful, beautiful, And think it's
- 16:00Speaker 1: important that we that we have a relationship with God
- 16:04Speaker 1: where we hear from Him for ourselves. I want to
- 16:07Speaker 1: be in a position where someone comes up to me
- 16:09Speaker 1: and they say I have a word from God. I
- 16:11Speaker 1: can say, yes, I received that, my spirit agrees, or
- 16:14Speaker 1: no you don't. I don't. I don't feel your spirit
- 16:16Speaker 1: that's for me is not from God. And then have
- 16:19Speaker 1: that type of confidence. I feel like that's how in
- 16:21Speaker 1: true God we have to be. And when you're in that,
- 16:23Speaker 1: when you're that in tune, it doesn't matter that some

- 18:41Speaker 1: The wait I read the book. I want to ask
- 18:43Speaker 1: a couple of questions. That's some fervord lines I want
- 18:45Speaker 1: to run by. But I gotta talk about Shazam. Okay
- 18:48Speaker 1: one um, you made an appearance in that, but it's
- 18:51Speaker 1: one of my favorite movies. In fact, when you when
- 18:54Speaker 1: you finally make an appearance and other adult versions of
- 18:57Speaker 1: the kids making the appearance, it's one of my favorite
- 19:00Speaker 1: parts of the movie. But one of my one of
- 19:02Speaker 1: my was endearing parts is how you were able to
- 19:06Speaker 1: be an adult but you maintain that childlike quality in
- 19:11Speaker 1: your acting performance. Uh that was I mean I smiled
- 19:15Speaker 1: every time I see it, and I go wow, you know,
- 19:17Speaker 1: you know, you know, people are talented, but certain things
- 19:20Speaker 1: that you can show goes. That's an extra gear of
- 19:23Speaker 1: talent that she has. Talk about that whole what I'm
- 19:26Speaker 1: talking about. And Shazam is a very popular superhero. You know.
- 19:30Speaker 1: He says, Shazam is a little fitting your ball and
- 19:31Speaker 1: he becomes this adult superhero care character were a long way.
- 19:36Speaker 1: You know, there's these kids at this foster home and
- 19:39Speaker 1: you play your your childlike characters. Was one of these kids.
- 19:43Speaker 1: And you eventually in the in the movie at the
- 19:45Speaker 1: end said shas Am, and you became an adult version
- 19:48Speaker 1: of your childlike character, but you still had those childlike
- 19:51Speaker 1: characters characteristics talking talking to us about that maintaining that
- 19:55Speaker 1: little reaching its side and hold holding onto that little
- 19:59Speaker 1: baby man. Well, baby Megan has always in there, you know. Um.
- 20:05Speaker 1: And I think, you know, it might come as more
- 20:08Speaker 1: of a shock to people just because you know, again,
- 20:11Speaker 1: like through my twenties, I was kind of like that
- 20:13Speaker 1: sexy girls. People don't realize oftentimes that there there's there
- 20:17Speaker 1: are a lot of different gears and that you know
- 20:19Speaker 1: sometimes like for me through my twenties, that was kind
- 20:22Speaker 1: of one gear. Was like, yeah, that's the side of me,
- 20:24Speaker 1: you know, but there's so much more. And so the
- 20:26Speaker 1: cool thing about Shazam was like I have started my
- 20:29Speaker 1: I had started my workout journey like maybe barely two
- 20:32Speaker 1: years before that, because I told Devon, I said, they
- 20:35Speaker 1: really want to be a superhero like I want to
- 20:37Speaker 1: do like DC or Marvel. And he was like, that's great, honey,
- 20:40Speaker 1: what are you doing to meet got halfway and I said,
- 20:43Speaker 1: what in my mind? You I had my glass of
- 20:44Speaker 1: wine in my hand. I'm watching my Scandal or something.
- 20:48Speaker 1: He said, what are you going to meet? Go halfway?
- 20:50Speaker 1: And I was like, wow, you're right safe without working dead, Okay.
- 20:54Speaker 1: So I said my little self to the gym. I
- 20:56Speaker 1: got a trainer, I changed my eating habits, I cut
- 20:59Speaker 1: back on my wine, and I started working out like
- 21:01Speaker 1: five times a week for about a year and a half.
- 21:04Speaker 1: And then I got this audition for Shazam. I didn't
- 21:06Speaker 1: even know what it was. I had no idea it
- 21:09Speaker 1: was a superhero movie. I was just going in there
- 21:11Speaker 1: and being a seven year old and then I get
- 21:14Speaker 1: the call that I got the part, and I was like, so,
- 21:16Speaker 1: what is it. They're like Shazamn. I was like, oh,
- 21:18Speaker 1: Kazam was like shocked back in the day. They're like, no,
- 21:20Speaker 1: shazamne and I looked it up and I was like, wait,
- 21:22Speaker 1: what these superhero movies? And I like, I kid you not.
- 21:28Speaker 1: I bust out crying. I was like in the middle
- 21:30Speaker 1: of a strip mall. I was like said yeah. Years.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I was like on crying outside of like a nutrition store,
- 21:37Speaker 1: like ran in and told like the lady behind the
- 21:39Speaker 1: count was like I just got a movie, and she's like, oh, forgot.
- 21:41Speaker 1: I mean, it's like and it was crazy because it
- 21:43Speaker 1: was the perfect thing for me, because you know this
- 21:46Speaker 1: type of superhero where where we actually our children that
- 21:49Speaker 1: hasn't been done and it's a it's a very fresh
- 21:52Speaker 1: take and it's something that I can do. I've been
- 21:54Speaker 1: doing little kid voices like my whole life. People just
- 21:56Speaker 1: don't always see that side of me. So it was
- 21:58Speaker 1: like the perfect purfect super earp for me, in perfect
- 22:01Speaker 1: kind of blessing from God and also a testimony, a
- 22:04Speaker 1: testament for like meeting God half way in him saying Okay,
- 22:07Speaker 1: here you go do the work and I and I
- 22:09Speaker 1: provide the way and the opportunity, and you people, you'll
- 22:12Speaker 1: be ready for the opportunity. You know. I'm gonna just
- 22:14Speaker 1: tell you that I've seen Soxam at least six times.
- 22:18Speaker 1: I'm just a guy. I've seen that ending probably about
- 22:21Speaker 1: ten times because it's just so cute and when you
- 22:23Speaker 1: and all the characters recognize that they go to adulthood
- 22:26Speaker 1: and when you for somehow it works so perfectly for
- 22:30Speaker 1: you and you just you gotta downpay congratulations. I just
- 22:33Speaker 1: want to just tell you that just congratulated. It's it's
- 22:36Speaker 1: it's believable. It's very cute. It makes me smile even
- 22:40Speaker 1: when I'm talking to you about right now. I'm smiling
- 22:43Speaker 1: because it's just one of my favorite parts of the movie.
- 22:45Speaker 1: And I can't wait to Sxam too, because I know
- 22:48Speaker 1: that character is gonna be fleshed out a little bit
- 22:49Speaker 1: more and we'll see it a lot earlier than the
- 22:52Speaker 1: movie instead of the end of the movie. And I
- 22:53Speaker 1: don't feel i'm giving away the movie. If anybody has
- 22:55Speaker 1: not seen it, maybe you'll watch it now, because when
- 22:58Speaker 1: you get to that part of the movie, you'll be smiling,
- 23:00Speaker 1: just like ri Shan McDonald. I want to make a tan.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I want to give a transition to you, to you,
- 23:04Speaker 1: you and your husband on the cover of the book
- 23:06Speaker 1: to Wait. First of all, compliments to both of you guys.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Very attractive couple. Y'all look fantastic. It's called The Way,
- 23:15Speaker 1: a powerful practice for finding the love of your life
- 23:19Speaker 1: and the life you love. Why did you write this
- 23:23Speaker 1: book with him? Um? It's interesting because the short version is,
- 23:29Speaker 1: you know, when Devone and I got together, Um, I
- 23:32Speaker 1: just came out of a kind of a verbally abusive
- 23:36Speaker 1: relationship and it wasn't just the other person. It was
- 23:38Speaker 1: both of us. We were not good for each other.
- 23:39Speaker 1: But I literally said, Lord, what am I supposed to
- 23:43Speaker 1: be doing? And he told me three things. He said,
- 23:46Speaker 1: get out of that relationship. I need you to be sulibant.
- 23:50Speaker 1: And Devon is your husband, and I said divine. And
- 23:54Speaker 1: I was like wait, and I'm like, what am I
- 23:56Speaker 1: supposed to do? And God was just like nothing, just
- 23:58Speaker 1: work on yourself. So from that point forward, I worked
- 24:01Speaker 1: on becoming celibant. I wasn't you know, successful immediately, but
- 24:04Speaker 1: ultimately I was. And about a few months into it,
- 24:07Speaker 1: about five months into getting that revelation, I told a
- 24:10Speaker 1: friend of mine that Divan was my husband and she said, oh, girl,
- 24:13Speaker 1: she's you know he's a preacher, right. I said no,
- 24:15Speaker 1: and I said, well, I thought would have scared me away,
- 24:18Speaker 1: but I know what God told me, so it's okay.
- 24:20Speaker 1: And I said and I said, and you know, um,
- 24:22Speaker 1: she said, you know that he's celibate, right And I said, well,
- 24:24Speaker 1: I'm celiban too. She said no, girl, he's for real selebant.
- 24:27Speaker 1: And wait, yes, so because he was preaching, he had
- 24:33Speaker 1: been celibant for years. Um. And she was like yeah,
- 24:37Speaker 1: you and you you're few muth girl, yeah whatever, you know. Anyways,
- 24:40Speaker 1: and so um, when Divine and I got together, it
- 24:43Speaker 1: was like you know, it was we were sublevant for
- 24:46Speaker 1: that for our our year together before we got married.
- 24:49Speaker 1: And it was the best experience of my life because
- 24:51Speaker 1: I got to know him the way that it's like
- 24:54Speaker 1: I got to know him in like four months, the
- 24:56Speaker 1: way it took me to get to know someone in
- 24:58Speaker 1: four years. And that because there was no it was
- 25:02Speaker 1: intimacy in terms of like emotion and spiritually, but there
- 25:06Speaker 1: was no physical intimacy. It that way. So really all
- 25:09Speaker 1: I had to do was besides, do I like you
- 25:11Speaker 1: as a human being? Do I enjoy being with you?
- 25:13Speaker 1: Do I want to spend a lifetime with you? Are you?
- 25:15Speaker 1: Are you about the same thing as in life? Are
- 25:17Speaker 1: we going to the same place? We complement each other
- 25:20Speaker 1: in their purpose? So all that stuff was so clear
- 25:22Speaker 1: because there was no distractions. That the reason we ended
- 25:25Speaker 1: up writing the book is because people kept asking us
- 25:27Speaker 1: about it, and you know, we would tell me the
- 25:30Speaker 1: story whatever, and they were like, we really would love
- 25:32Speaker 1: to have a book about this. So men were like,
- 25:34Speaker 1: I guess we just will write a book not to
- 25:36Speaker 1: be preachy, And I tell people to do, but to
- 25:38Speaker 1: tell them what our experience was and just just to
- 25:40Speaker 1: be transparent about that and if it helps someone and
- 25:43Speaker 1: bless you someone great, you know, And well I wasn't
- 25:46Speaker 1: even helping a lot of people. There's two things I
- 25:48Speaker 1: want to bring out about the book. The way. It's
- 25:50Speaker 1: doubt about sex, but it begins with sex. It's a
- 25:53Speaker 1: book about relationships. And one of my favorite lines in
- 25:56Speaker 1: the book is this, um, the way the way you
- 26:00Speaker 1: stop is okay, in your book, the way you stop
- 26:04Speaker 1: stop picking and choosing which parts of the Bible you
- 26:07Speaker 1: will follow. I read that and I just bought out laughing,
- 26:11Speaker 1: because not only do is does that line apply to me,
- 26:14Speaker 1: but so many people we go, we'll do this. It's
- 26:17Speaker 1: too much work to do everything. So I'm gonna follow
- 26:20Speaker 1: this over here. But as you say, you can't part
- 26:23Speaker 1: time follow God. Yeah that's what you're saying, right, Yeah, yeah,
- 26:29Speaker 1: I mean I think that's the biggest thing is that
- 26:31Speaker 1: I think we do tend to pick and choose, and
- 26:33Speaker 1: especially as it pertains to sex, because we feel like, well,
- 26:37Speaker 1: you lord, you have to understand this part you gave us.
- 26:40Speaker 1: You know, you don't want to do it, you know,
- 26:42Speaker 1: all the Christians and things is doing it now? Come
- 26:44Speaker 1: on right? You know, just like when I when I
- 26:48Speaker 1: first left my virginity, I you know, I said I'll
- 26:50Speaker 1: wait till I'm gonna get married. I lost my virginity
- 26:52Speaker 1: at nineteen, and it was later than most of my friends.
- 26:55Speaker 1: But it was also like I was like, well, this
- 26:57Speaker 1: is my first love. I'm gonna marry himself. You know,
- 26:58Speaker 1: it's my husband anyways. And it wasn't um but I realized,
- 27:02Speaker 1: you know, I lived my life like every times where
- 27:05Speaker 1: I felt bad and I would like repent and I
- 27:08Speaker 1: would not have sex for months, and then you know,
- 27:10Speaker 1: and it just I realized that I was really picking
- 27:12Speaker 1: and choosing and giving myself license instead of saying, let
- 27:16Speaker 1: me just try to do the hardest thing that there
- 27:18Speaker 1: is to do in terms of the commandments, and let's
- 27:21Speaker 1: see how that goes. And what I realized is the
- 27:23Speaker 1: once I conquered that and I found that discipline within
- 27:27Speaker 1: myself for the laid gratification and to not pick and choose,
- 27:31Speaker 1: it gave me the freedom and the power to have
- 27:35Speaker 1: more self control over so many areas. I hated working out,
- 27:39Speaker 1: and you know, it was never gonna happen because of
- 27:42Speaker 1: the discipline I learned from the weight is why I
- 27:44Speaker 1: was able to work out, which ultimately resulted in Shazam
- 27:47Speaker 1: and ultimately resulted in me about to be thirty nine.
- 27:50Speaker 1: I'm in the best shape of my life because my
- 27:52Speaker 1: lifestyle changed because of my discipline, change because of the way.
- 27:55Speaker 1: So it's not just relationships, it's it's across the board
- 27:59Speaker 1: to change my live because because you guys got were married, correct,
- 28:06Speaker 1: And I have to say I have to say, like
- 28:08Speaker 1: I said, I'm a fan of yours. I have to
- 28:10Speaker 1: say that period between and now, I have to say,
- 28:14Speaker 1: it's been the most the best part of your career.
- 28:18Speaker 1: I don't want to be sounded insulty. I'm talking about
- 28:20Speaker 1: the movies, the films, the projects, your your brand, your
- 28:26Speaker 1: your your ability, your luck. You glow. You know, when
- 28:30Speaker 1: you're with your husband, you glow. And that comes back
- 28:34Speaker 1: to discipline and honesty with yourself. And that is my
- 28:38Speaker 1: That is one of the takeaways that I had with
- 28:40Speaker 1: the book to Wait. And if you don't mind, it's
- 28:43Speaker 1: it's because it's on my shelf at my home because
- 28:46Speaker 1: I gave it to my daughter. She read it. And
- 28:49Speaker 1: I have a home in Houston and Atlanta have it
- 28:51Speaker 1: to keep it in my Atlanta home. Uh. Is it
- 28:54Speaker 1: still available to be bought the book? Yeah, yeah, the
- 28:58Speaker 1: Amazon and just anywhere if you if you feel a
- 29:03Speaker 1: little surge in book sales, because Roushan McDonald's gonna do this.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I have an eighty thousand fans fan Club email newsletter
- 29:11Speaker 1: I sent out every Friday at nine am. I'm gonna
- 29:14Speaker 1: put this book in my news letter. Okay. And because
- 29:18Speaker 1: I feel that there's so many inconsistencies I've had in
- 29:22Speaker 1: my life and one of the things that doing money
- 29:25Speaker 1: making conversations has allowed me to. You know, I made
- 29:28Speaker 1: a lot of people famous, I made a lot of
- 29:30Speaker 1: corporations money in my life. But what I've what I've
- 29:33Speaker 1: done is found with Sean McDonald and I just talking
- 29:37Speaker 1: to you on this during this interview. It's just so
- 29:41Speaker 1: fulfilling to me because of the fact that you got it. Megan,
- 29:45Speaker 1: you you you you clearly are comfortable with yourself. You
- 29:49Speaker 1: clearly are happy with yourself, and you're a beautiful person.
- 29:53Speaker 1: That's that's a that's awesome. Congratulations. Wow, that blessed me. Thanks,
- 29:58Speaker 1: thank you, thank you for that. You know, I have
- 30:00Speaker 1: to be honest because of the fact that and I
- 30:02Speaker 1: try to do this show and and and expose people
- 30:05Speaker 1: be uh, when I dropped the whole idea of money
- 30:08Speaker 1: making conversations. You know, we may talk about your career
- 30:11Speaker 1: when you talk about this when the people come on
- 30:12Speaker 1: the show, but I always want to pull back the
- 30:14Speaker 1: curtain so people can just talk. And I ought to
- 30:17Speaker 1: play no music. I have no ambush questions. I just
- 30:20Speaker 1: wanted to just really talk. And this is gonna be
- 30:22Speaker 1: well received in my platform, this interview, and you're just special.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I just wanted to keep winning. And uh, and I'd
- 30:28Speaker 1: like to get your husband Voune on the show to
- 30:30Speaker 1: talk about it. Like I have something that call a
- 30:33Speaker 1: power couples. I bring power couples on my show together
- 30:36Speaker 1: so they can talk. And uh, that's a very popular
- 30:38Speaker 1: series I have with money making conversations. But more importantly,
- 30:41Speaker 1: you know, you know you you made me happy. We're
- 30:44Speaker 1: gonna do exam to you're coming back and that you're
- 30:48Speaker 1: standing in shape, so you're gonna be ready for that.
- 30:50Speaker 1: The girl girl raps. We know we sold that in
- 30:51Speaker 1: certain things right now, but we're gonna get that up
- 30:53Speaker 1: and running because guess what I'm gonna put that in
- 30:55Speaker 1: my newsletter. That means sold. That's a good thing, making sold,
- 30:58Speaker 1: that's a good thing. You the good creat the good
- 31:01Speaker 1: foundation that you started with your sister that's doing great things,
- 31:04Speaker 1: and the and the weight is a blessing that I
- 31:07Speaker 1: want to put back that put out there in my
- 31:09Speaker 1: platform to the world of my followers are female and
- 31:13Speaker 1: they need to hear the word. And the word is
- 31:15Speaker 1: being delivered by you and your husband. And it's a
- 31:17Speaker 1: written word. And guess what the Bible is written word,
- 31:20Speaker 1: not saying as the Bible, but the reflections of the
- 31:23Speaker 1: reflections of what you're talking about. I got it from
- 31:26Speaker 1: the words, and that's important that people need to read
- 31:29Speaker 1: and also share. And I want to thank you for
