- 1:06Speaker 1: Please work with the money making conversation. And HBCU made
- 1:09Speaker 1: Tennessee State University. I gotta kick that off, man, because
- 1:16Speaker 1: I was doing your bio and HBCUs a being so
- 1:19Speaker 1: much love man, and UH doing this pandemic time. It's
- 1:22Speaker 1: really long overdue, and because now people are starting to
- 1:25Speaker 1: understand the value of HBCUs even though they're they're they're
- 1:29Speaker 1: the look they started out of racism. We all know
- 1:32Speaker 1: that's why they're in the southeast part of the country.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Tell us about the t s U experience, which is
- 1:36Speaker 1: uh Tennessee State University because they got another TIARSU down
- 1:39Speaker 1: and used to call Texas Southern University. Tell about t
- 1:41Speaker 1: s U up there in Tennessee. Let's look, let's talk
- 1:44Speaker 1: about the real tissue. But let me tell you another man,
- 1:50Speaker 1: um And I'm glad you're asked me that question because
- 1:53Speaker 1: it is and I was talking to somebody about this
- 1:56Speaker 1: other day, man, Like the HPC was Earns Man, it
- 2:01Speaker 1: was an incredible experience. It was the best time of
- 2:04Speaker 1: my life. And I say that because of course life
- 2:07Speaker 1: is good now, but it was a time in my life, man,
- 2:10Speaker 1: with the only responsibility I had was was to get
- 2:12Speaker 1: out of school. You know, and you know and and look. Man,
- 2:17Speaker 1: it was a time where instructors really cared about you. Man,
- 2:20Speaker 1: if they saw you getting off track, you weren't just
- 2:22Speaker 1: a number where they would expel your suspending. They pull
- 2:26Speaker 1: you to the sign like you with their son or daughters. Man.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And then the people that you meet, Man, all the
- 2:32Speaker 1: men listen. I swear, Man, I have friends all over
- 2:35Speaker 1: the world that I swear when we were in school,
- 2:37Speaker 1: you would have sworn that they weren't gonna be worth
- 2:39Speaker 1: a dying. These people are, I mean, they are helping
- 2:43Speaker 1: shape to monitise city states in the world. I mean. Man,
- 2:48Speaker 1: So man, I love it. Man, when I go back
- 2:50Speaker 1: to home coming, there's nothing like it. Man. So, Man,
- 2:53Speaker 1: I would tell anybody that it is a great experience,
- 2:57Speaker 1: and I would never discount it when you're thinking about
- 3:00Speaker 1: where used to go, because you're building friends that love
- 3:03Speaker 1: livel look in the least lifetime, we know you're to Detroit.
- 3:06Speaker 1: So you know, I know, you know how to dress.
- 3:08Speaker 1: You know, if you're to Detroit, that's kind of like
- 3:10Speaker 1: part of the game plan. You know, I've been up
- 3:13Speaker 1: Detroit many tiers, Steve Harvey out there wearing our suits,
- 3:16Speaker 1: when our gators, when our hats. All part of the
- 3:20Speaker 1: structure been that you grew up in a community that
- 3:22Speaker 1: is so urban, which is Detroit. Talk about when I
- 3:26Speaker 1: look at the I want to say that the way
- 3:28Speaker 1: you see social unrest today, and you know, we've been
- 3:31Speaker 1: dealing with that all our life, Kenny, both of you
- 3:32Speaker 1: and I were over sixty and so we've had our
- 3:36Speaker 1: different layers of racism, but we never let our colors
- 3:38Speaker 1: stop our ambition, even though we know we have more
- 3:41Speaker 1: value than they told us. We have value. Talk about
- 3:44Speaker 1: the challenges of going through life growing up in the
- 3:47Speaker 1: community or city like Detroit, and the impact of what
- 3:50Speaker 1: you see and happened today with racial unrest. Young people's
- 3:55Speaker 1: finally realizing their is racism. You know, it's it's it's
- 3:59Speaker 1: deep man. Let's question. I will tell you I think
- 4:02Speaker 1: my biggest experience because as you know, you know, my
- 4:04Speaker 1: father was the first African American to play in the NBA.
- 4:07Speaker 1: All of fame coach the Detroit Pistons. And so I'm
- 4:12Speaker 1: not gonna say that we were insulated from racism because
- 4:16Speaker 1: of course, you know, athletes they don't experience the same
- 4:19Speaker 1: level of racism that ordinary people. Right, So I'm not
- 4:23Speaker 1: gonna say that because I lived in Detroit and because
- 4:26Speaker 1: my father was a head coach on athlete that I
- 4:29Speaker 1: hadn't experienced. Detroit is a different culture, you know, the
- 4:32Speaker 1: city of Detroit itself. I don't want to get become
- 4:34Speaker 1: get political, but you did hear the President referred to Detroit,
- 4:38Speaker 1: you know, and a kind a not so savory way, okay, right,
- 4:42Speaker 1: because he knew what what the population was, you know,
- 4:45Speaker 1: and uh so it's the kind of town man. It
- 4:48Speaker 1: was insulated because the blacks in that dude in that
- 4:53Speaker 1: city of Detroit. Man with some very sharp people. Man
- 4:57Speaker 1: like you take somebody like cold and young Man the clouds,
- 5:01Speaker 1: look man, Coleman. Coleman took that city too, a whole
- 5:04Speaker 1: nuther level. I mean, like Coben Young was a very
- 5:08Speaker 1: strong black man. Um. For me, all I can do
- 5:13Speaker 1: is speak from my perspective. You know. They used to
- 5:15Speaker 1: say that it takes a villains to raise a child, right, Well,
- 5:19Speaker 1: I was raised, man, I had to benefit of being
- 5:21Speaker 1: raised because of my father and my mother, because my
- 5:23Speaker 1: mother has a PhD, you know, and they worked hard,
- 5:26Speaker 1: man to put us in there in a in a
- 5:28Speaker 1: right environment, right. You know. I don't make excuses for
- 5:31Speaker 1: how I was raised. Okay, Now, the thing is that
- 5:34Speaker 1: I wasn't raised in the business, man. I was raised
- 5:36Speaker 1: in the kingdom. Because I was I had to benefit
- 5:39Speaker 1: of being surrounded found by black men that were great
- 5:44Speaker 1: husband's fathers. They were great in their communities, man, And
- 5:48Speaker 1: they were politicians, they were attorneys, physicians, um, entertainers, you know,
- 5:55Speaker 1: and they cared about giving back to the young, to
- 5:58Speaker 1: the young blacks. They really cared about it. Man. It
- 6:01Speaker 1: was I mean, it was embedded in them. Man. Like
- 6:03Speaker 1: they would give us lessons and they would it's still
- 6:06Speaker 1: upon us. And they had the right to even implement
- 6:10Speaker 1: corporal punishment, man, the slappers of spankers and shake us
- 6:14Speaker 1: out if we were disrespectful. I see that on exists anymore.
- 6:18Speaker 1: You know why because they're not a lot of colons
- 6:21Speaker 1: in our communities. Like man, they care about the young men.
- 6:25Speaker 1: You know, these young men are being raised by women
- 6:27Speaker 1: who do who are doing the best they can, and
- 6:30Speaker 1: they're doing a great job. But we know that I
- 6:33Speaker 1: don't want to go. I don't know if I'm opening
- 6:34Speaker 1: knup the door man. But you know it's hard core
- 6:37Speaker 1: women to raise a man. You know. Uh, not to
- 6:40Speaker 1: say that it can't be done, because I've seen it
- 6:42Speaker 1: done right, But we know that a man's influence upon
- 6:46Speaker 1: a young boy it's very important, man, you know, they
- 6:50Speaker 1: it's very important. They respond to us, you know, like
- 6:53Speaker 1: my my youngest son, oh, my my two sons. Man,
- 6:57Speaker 1: they respond to me a little differently than they respond
- 6:59Speaker 1: to of their money because I'm old school, right, you know,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I don't believe in it. You could call family services
- 7:06Speaker 1: if you want, boy, but I take what little with me.
- 7:10Speaker 1: There's a lot easer to living in a foster care
- 7:12Speaker 1: home because you thought it was living. So it's just
- 7:18Speaker 1: it was. They called it the spirit of Detroit, and
- 7:21Speaker 1: the spirit was a prideful spirit of people man who
- 7:26Speaker 1: really cared about each other. That I think they came
- 7:29Speaker 1: from a generation. My parents generation was a generation of
- 7:33Speaker 1: people that were oppressed, and a lot on them were
- 7:35Speaker 1: very poor and they didn't have the means, and their
- 7:38Speaker 1: parents made great sacrifices to make sure that they could
- 7:42Speaker 1: begin the new generation of the family. And I think
- 7:46Speaker 1: that they took great pride in that. And because they did,
- 7:48Speaker 1: they made sure that that we were exposed to the
- 7:53Speaker 1: right things and that they took an interest in us,
- 7:56Speaker 1: and they didn't allow us to get off track without interceding. Man.
- 7:59Speaker 1: So it was a great time, a great error. It
- 8:01Speaker 1: really is, because I can relate that. And born in
- 8:04Speaker 1: fit Ward, Houston, Texas. You know, in the city. You know,
- 8:08Speaker 1: my father was a truck driver, mom graduating from hindh
- 8:10Speaker 1: School and so six sisters, two brothers too, very shotgun
- 8:14Speaker 1: house is what I was born in. But that then
- 8:16Speaker 1: stopping from seeing my goals. But because my father was
- 8:19Speaker 1: in the house, he allowed me to stay focused and
- 8:22Speaker 1: allowed me to move forward. And and I'm not saying
- 8:25Speaker 1: he was the best father in the world, but his
- 8:26Speaker 1: physical male presence of consistency allowed me to be the
- 8:30Speaker 1: man who I am today and allowed to shape some
- 8:32Speaker 1: things that I wanted to do. That's what I wanted
- 8:34Speaker 1: to be as a man based on how he presented himself,
- 8:37Speaker 1: whether it was good or bad, it gave me a
- 8:39Speaker 1: give me a model, Kenny, that's all you're saying. Giving
- 8:42Speaker 1: you a male model to shape your male views as
- 8:46Speaker 1: you come into manhood and as you come into manhood.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Today we look at this pandemic and we look at marketing.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Marketing is such key and that's that's your gift. When
- 8:54Speaker 1: I when I literally resume you're just a gifted marketer,
- 8:57Speaker 1: where did that come from? You know? I think that
- 9:01Speaker 1: I get a lot on my qualities from my father.
- 9:05Speaker 1: But because my father was famous, you know, and you
- 9:08Speaker 1: know a lot of people would think earlier. But man,
- 9:11Speaker 1: my father taught me how to be a man, but
- 9:13Speaker 1: my mother taught me how to be a person. And
- 9:15Speaker 1: both of them had great oratorical skills that had great
- 9:20Speaker 1: uh in a personal skills, you know. And so I'm
- 9:22Speaker 1: not really a great marketer. I'm a great relationship building
- 9:27Speaker 1: And everything is about building relationships. Because if you're a
- 9:31Speaker 1: great salesperson, where anybody can go get a sale and
- 9:35Speaker 1: that's the one time thing. But you know, when you
- 9:38Speaker 1: have the ability to build relationships, you have somebody that
- 9:42Speaker 1: will buy from you every month versus one time and
- 9:45Speaker 1: they're gone. You know, it's a difference between a great
- 9:47Speaker 1: salesperson and a great relationship building because man, listen, everybody,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I know that has positioned them well themselves well financially
- 9:57Speaker 1: in life. Man, they understand the power of building relationship.
- 10:00Speaker 1: They have great relationships. We've been you said, man, look,
- 10:03Speaker 1: you know when this is all sitting done, you know not, Man,
- 10:05Speaker 1: we're gonna get together as absolutely you understand the power
- 10:09Speaker 1: of relationship because and it is the key thing about
- 10:12Speaker 1: it. It It wasn't even my financial get together. It was
- 10:14Speaker 1: just a relationship. Because I always tell people my decisions
- 10:18Speaker 1: I make in life aren't always tied to money. And
- 10:20Speaker 1: because it's tied to a relationship, an opportunity. And I
- 10:23Speaker 1: think you understand what I'm talking about that opportunity. What
- 10:26Speaker 1: builds out of that opportunity, if what allows you to
- 10:28Speaker 1: be a winner. I'll put you in a winning situation.
- 10:31Speaker 1: If you go in looking how much more I can
- 10:34Speaker 1: get out of this relationship, they may deter you or
- 10:36Speaker 1: may cost you a long term opportunity because you're looking
- 10:39Speaker 1: for a short term game. And that's really what we're
- 10:41Speaker 1: talking about here, Kenny, when you're talking about Okay, Rashaan, look,
- 10:45Speaker 1: I want a relationship. And I said, and I said
- 10:47Speaker 1: that very off, Cup, because I know you live in Houston.
- 10:51Speaker 1: You know, I like to eat. I'm sure your bible
- 10:53Speaker 1: que man just like me. You know, you've been used
- 10:55Speaker 1: to less long enough to know there's the best text
- 10:57Speaker 1: mixed restaurants in the country is to use the text.
- 11:00Speaker 1: So you know, when we come down and she was
- 11:02Speaker 1: just COVID because you know, we ain't going nowhere in
- 11:05Speaker 1: public and COVID, my wife ain't going nowhere. I don't know.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I don't know how your family handled and Kenny, but
- 11:09Speaker 1: my wife has not allowed me to take out in
- 11:11Speaker 1: public since March. I'm gonna listen, I'm I'm gonna lockdown, man, Listen.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I don't like to sneak out right right right right
- 11:21Speaker 1: to speak out man, because of course you go crazy.
- 11:24Speaker 1: But you know, as as predicted, uh, it's become worse.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I mean they have been predicting, uh, even from March
- 11:33Speaker 1: on in the in the colder months, man's beginning our
- 11:36Speaker 1: top it is gonna get worse, and it has become worse.
- 11:39Speaker 1: It has. It has come to tuition that it has
- 11:42Speaker 1: become worse and and becoming worsening every day. So you
- 11:47Speaker 1: know my position is that you have to be careful man.
- 11:50Speaker 1: That's why I'm you know, like in my business man,
- 11:53Speaker 1: of course to do the COVID. Man, I lost my
- 11:55Speaker 1: mother and march do the COVID. And I don't wish
- 11:59Speaker 1: that on anybody. It's not just the death of of
- 12:01Speaker 1: a parent, because as life and death man, my father
- 12:05Speaker 1: used always say, life and death is like a door knock.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Everybody gets turned right. You know when your parents started
- 12:09Speaker 1: reaching eighty five, you know it was six, You kind
- 12:13Speaker 1: of know, man, you know that their time is approaching.
- 12:15Speaker 1: But with anybody that has a parent and then there
- 12:19Speaker 1: they're in another city and their parents is diagnosed with COVID,
- 12:23Speaker 1: you can't even go see him, you can't be with them,
- 12:26Speaker 1: you know. Uh, it was difficult, man. I had to
- 12:29Speaker 1: really uh solicit some some political powers to be in Detroit,
- 12:35Speaker 1: to even get a nurse to put on an asthmat
- 12:37Speaker 1: suit going there and take a phone so I could
- 12:40Speaker 1: say some things to my mother that I wanted to say,
- 12:42Speaker 1: because everybody has some things they would love to whisper
- 12:45Speaker 1: to a loved one's here when that they know that
- 12:48Speaker 1: loved one is about the transition. And by the grace
- 12:51Speaker 1: of God, man that it happened, you know, I mean,
- 12:54Speaker 1: because it would have disturbed me. Man, I don't know
- 12:56Speaker 1: where I would be mentally if I wasn't able to
- 12:58Speaker 1: do that. So you know, I think God that that
- 13:01Speaker 1: he made that possible that I could say some things
- 13:03Speaker 1: to it. But uh, they say that in death there's
- 13:07Speaker 1: a birth right. Right. It's funny, man, because right as
- 13:10Speaker 1: my mother passed, Uh, I mean, my business just took off,
- 13:14Speaker 1: you know, And that's what I say. I say that
- 13:17Speaker 1: she became much bigger in spirit that she was ever
- 13:19Speaker 1: for me on earth, you know. And because of the
- 13:23Speaker 1: nature of my business. Man, you know, business has been
- 13:26Speaker 1: very good. So man, I just talk it up to again. Man,
- 13:29Speaker 1: it's just a blessing. It's finally here the season of celebration.
- 13:33Speaker 1: And no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,

- 15:25Speaker 1: That's O T T E R. Dot Ai. So let's
- 15:28Speaker 1: talk about the nature of your business. You know, the
- 15:30Speaker 1: COVID hit online. You know a lot of black people
- 15:33Speaker 1: were not able to um handle the opportunities because they
- 15:37Speaker 1: weren't technically savvy. Their brand wasn't able to benefit from
- 15:42Speaker 1: the lockdown, from the lock from the lifestyle needs. Tell
- 15:45Speaker 1: everybody basically what TAPA is all about, well, tabs Direct said,
- 15:50Speaker 1: but mostly welly known as a network marketing company, right
- 15:56Speaker 1: and we uh, may we survived that first year where
- 15:59Speaker 1: a lot of network marketing companies don't survive ninety days, man,
- 16:02Speaker 1: And we survived our first year and we thrived. Man.
- 16:06Speaker 1: We had an incredible year. Man. A lot of people
- 16:08Speaker 1: were blessed and we uh. We we market health and
- 16:12Speaker 1: wellness products. Products. But we allow people to operate a
- 16:16Speaker 1: business within a business, right, so you can operate a
- 16:20Speaker 1: home based business like we have right now in just
- 16:24Speaker 1: a little over a year, over forty thousand reps all
- 16:28Speaker 1: across the country, man, and in Canada. Right we're expanding.
- 16:32Speaker 1: We have plans for international expansion, but you know, it's
- 16:35Speaker 1: the time putting everything for that. But uh, right now,
- 16:38Speaker 1: you know, a little forty five thousand and these people
- 16:41Speaker 1: are operating from their home, but essentially from their phone
- 16:44Speaker 1: because we have a phone app. Man. We it just
- 16:47Speaker 1: a way you know, for people, uh to take a
- 16:51Speaker 1: little control over their life, man, because there are a
- 16:53Speaker 1: lot of people that are not as fortunate as you, uh,
- 16:56Speaker 1: A lot of people that don't have careers. So there
- 16:58Speaker 1: are a lot of people, man that have job that
- 17:00Speaker 1: that keep us afloat. Man. Like imagine the countless uh bartenders,
- 17:06Speaker 1: man and waitresses that that take care of us man
- 17:08Speaker 1: to service us man who are out of work and
- 17:11Speaker 1: make a lot of make money doing that, take care
- 17:13Speaker 1: of their families doing it. Man, they have no jobs,
- 17:15Speaker 1: and imagine a lot I mean, so there's so many people.
- 17:19Speaker 1: So the thing I love about what I do is
- 17:21Speaker 1: that it gives people an opportunity to be the change
- 17:25Speaker 1: that they've been seeking. And by that, I mean that
- 17:28Speaker 1: they could really start their own home based business. Man
- 17:31Speaker 1: for a thousand dollars or less and have an opportunity
- 17:35Speaker 1: to earn like I mean, Man, I mean I have
- 17:38Speaker 1: people in my company that I mean, in in the
- 17:41Speaker 1: first year, earned over half a million. Man, I have
- 17:44Speaker 1: people that have earned two hunt a quarter of uh
- 17:47Speaker 1: two hundred fifty thousand, people that are earned fifty you know,
- 17:50Speaker 1: so if you have people that earned five hundred thousand,
- 17:53Speaker 1: I have countless people that have earned an extra thousand
- 17:56Speaker 1: dollars a month. Man. That was much more powerful than
- 18:00Speaker 1: the one twols of threes that earned five on the
- 18:02Speaker 1: thousand in one year. The imagine what an extra twelve
- 18:05Speaker 1: thousand dollars would do for for your your household budget. Man,
- 18:10Speaker 1: for extra extra money, Man, I didn't work. I don't
- 18:13Speaker 1: want money. Man. We talked about the kid, We talked
- 18:16Speaker 1: about the lifestyle, We talked about the opportunity. How does
- 18:19Speaker 1: it all work when you're talking about networking? You know,
- 18:23Speaker 1: everybody has a network of people that they share. Imagine
- 18:27Speaker 1: you go to the store and you buy a bottle
- 18:30Speaker 1: of wine and that wine is good. What do you do?
- 18:31Speaker 1: You're like, man, I tried to just bottle of wine.
- 18:34Speaker 1: And the difference is you don't get paid when you
- 18:36Speaker 1: share the story, right, Like somebody asked me, you know
- 18:40Speaker 1: we have a product. We have a coffee called Caprice, right,
- 18:43Speaker 1: and it's it's a CBD right. Oh, I'm gonna send
- 18:49Speaker 1: you something. Let you try the CDD infused. It's delicious. Man.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Somebody asked me in an interview, what's the difference between
- 18:56Speaker 1: my coffee and other coffees in the store. I said,
- 18:59Speaker 1: what a difference is My coffee pays? Okay, all right,
- 19:03Speaker 1: those coffees you have to pay to get those. My coffee.
- 19:06Speaker 1: My coffee pays because you know, you don't have to
- 19:09Speaker 1: just share it with somebody to say, Man, it was
- 19:11Speaker 1: good I tasted and not make a dime. When you
- 19:13Speaker 1: share my coffee, you make money right right, right, and
- 19:18Speaker 1: you're sharing something that's healthy, you know. So, I mean,
- 19:21Speaker 1: so that's the difference. Man. Uh. Everybody has a network
- 19:25Speaker 1: of people that they're close to that they share things.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Hey did you see that movie? Man? That movie was
- 19:31Speaker 1: a good movie. Fan. What you do you just make?
- 19:34Speaker 1: You just made somebody some money. This car, you know,
- 19:39Speaker 1: I mean, Wemburger, fried chicken, this sandwich, all that stuff,
- 19:43Speaker 1: this sign, restaurants, all these things we do. We're making
- 19:47Speaker 1: other people money. We do it unconsciously. So our position is,
- 19:52Speaker 1: how about we work a little conscious, you know how
- 19:54Speaker 1: probably we'll be a little more conscious, uh about what
- 19:58Speaker 1: we do. And let's start sharing some things that we're
- 20:01Speaker 1: trying and let's let's turn it into a business and
- 20:04Speaker 1: share with our friends and family and other people that
- 20:07Speaker 1: that they know and that they know and let's turn
- 20:09Speaker 1: let's let's monetize. And that's what we've been doing. Man,
- 20:12Speaker 1: very well, now you did when I look at your background, Yeah,
- 20:14Speaker 1: you had to run with b ET and then the
- 20:18Speaker 1: w n B A Washington Mystics, and so I know
- 20:21Speaker 1: because your father, you know, Hall NBA Hall of Fame,
- 20:23Speaker 1: first Black to be in the NBA, so you you know,
- 20:26Speaker 1: you know HBCU. You have a trying to say you
- 20:30Speaker 1: have a very um layered life, you know, and and
- 20:35Speaker 1: how has that helped? You were telling us about your
- 20:37Speaker 1: experience with b ET network and then also the Washington
- 20:40Speaker 1: Mystics of the w n B A. Well, let me
- 20:43Speaker 1: say this, the my experience with with b two was
- 20:47Speaker 1: an incredible experience because of the first time ever Man,
- 20:49Speaker 1: we started off with a local network and then next
- 20:53Speaker 1: thing OBT picked it up. Man and we were just
- 20:55Speaker 1: global with the show. Uh, of course it was our
- 20:59Speaker 1: first experience. But you know the show was not so good.
- 21:06Speaker 1: We had a good seasons though, but you know, the
- 21:10Speaker 1: show could have been a lot different. Um. It was
- 21:14Speaker 1: supposed to shine a positive light on network market and
- 21:18Speaker 1: what we do, but uh, it was. It turned into something.
- 21:22Speaker 1: And I don't blame it on b T. I I
- 21:24Speaker 1: say that, and I even the producers. It was the
- 21:26Speaker 1: first project that they ever worked on, man. But it
- 21:30Speaker 1: was absolute pleasure working with B team. Man. We went
- 21:33Speaker 1: down to the BT Awards and and he took care
- 21:36Speaker 1: of us, man, and treat us. We walked the red
- 21:38Speaker 1: They didn't treat us like you know, we were nothing. Man.
- 21:40Speaker 1: They gave us the red carpet experience. So look, man,
- 21:45Speaker 1: you will never hear Kenny Lloyd same thing. You took
- 21:49Speaker 1: care of us when it was when I had my moment,
- 21:51Speaker 1: my five minutes of fame. I enjoyed it, every minute
- 21:55Speaker 1: of it, man, And they made it special. And now
- 21:57Speaker 1: now to watching the mystics of w n b A,
- 22:00Speaker 1: that's my brother. You have to do the interview with
- 22:02Speaker 1: him because that was him working with cool they put
- 22:05Speaker 1: down there on your bio here and I apologize. When
- 22:07Speaker 1: I looked everything up, I didn't see it. I didn't
- 22:09Speaker 1: see what we're rolling like that. So now let's go
- 22:12Speaker 1: back to the Houston, Texas area, and let's let's talk
- 22:14Speaker 1: about that whole experience of being in Houston. You said
- 22:17Speaker 1: you've been in fifteen years, right, yes, Okay, Now what
- 22:21Speaker 1: advantages being in the Texas market, because let's talk about
- 22:23Speaker 1: Texas because I my corporations in Texas they don't tax you.
- 22:27Speaker 1: We're talking money making conversations. Now, there are some advantages
- 22:30Speaker 1: to not taxing into there, not paying taxes as a
- 22:34Speaker 1: corporation and not have your your business tax Is that
- 22:38Speaker 1: being is that Is that an asset for your brand? Oh?
- 22:41Speaker 1: It's it's it's an absolutely asset to the brand man,
- 22:44Speaker 1: you know, and when you are look, I'm still a
- 22:47Speaker 1: small business, okay, you know, I'm still a small business.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I mean, you know, we we do a lot of
- 22:52Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of numbers a month, man,
- 22:54Speaker 1: but we're still a small business. And any break a
- 22:57Speaker 1: small business and you have to capitalize on it. But
- 23:00Speaker 1: what's important in the biggest mistake that most small businesses
- 23:03Speaker 1: makers that they think small when they're at all Uh,
- 23:07Speaker 1: you have to look at your numbers. And when you
- 23:10Speaker 1: see your numbers, man, when you start going from two thousand,
- 23:13Speaker 1: I mean like you know, like ten thousand and sales
- 23:17Speaker 1: a month twenty and when you see yourself going to
- 23:20Speaker 1: six figures and heading towards seven, you better have some
- 23:24Speaker 1: very competent you know people on your team and think
- 23:28Speaker 1: that that our c P. A S man like that
- 23:31Speaker 1: could guide you. But I always tell people, whatever it
- 23:35Speaker 1: is you you, you you achieved to be, start putting
- 23:38Speaker 1: a team together before you get there, because you have
- 23:41Speaker 1: if you stay ready, you don't have to get ready. Man.
- 23:43Speaker 1: You know, when it happens, sometimes it's you one contract. Man,
- 23:47Speaker 1: You're one move, one once, one swing of God's hands
- 23:52Speaker 1: from going from you know, twenty thousand a month to
- 23:55Speaker 1: a million and sales a month. And if you're not prepared, man,
- 23:58Speaker 1: you're gonna seek Because it's not just about sales alone.
- 24:02Speaker 1: It doesn't it unsustained man. It is being you know,
- 24:05Speaker 1: if your infrastructure. So it's important that you have the
- 24:08Speaker 1: right people in place as you see your business start
- 24:11Speaker 1: to grow, man, And don't don't be cheap, because you
- 24:14Speaker 1: get what you paid for. All right, now, let's let's
- 24:17Speaker 1: talk about that, and let's talk about relationship from the
- 24:19Speaker 1: stand part of personal life. My wife has always paying
- 24:22Speaker 1: a major role in my life. You know, I always
- 24:24Speaker 1: tell people, you know, she was very talented optopetrics and
- 24:27Speaker 1: allowed me to go to New York and build my brand,
- 24:30Speaker 1: go to l A and build my brand. I'm in Atlanta.
- 24:33Speaker 1: She's having me build my brand. Now I had to
- 24:35Speaker 1: bring up because you know, your wife plays a prominent
- 24:38Speaker 1: role in your bio. Okay, I'll be I'll be remissing.
- 24:42Speaker 1: And I don't want to fall on her dark side
- 24:44Speaker 1: because I said, I want to get with you. I
- 24:46Speaker 1: don't want to have an anything with you, and don't
- 24:47Speaker 1: bring her up. Okay, Kenny, talk about that the power
- 24:51Speaker 1: corporate relationship that you have with your wife. Kenny, Well,
- 24:53Speaker 1: let me say this, man. My wife is my business
- 24:56Speaker 1: partner and she and I both have a role, right.
- 24:58Speaker 1: And the thing I said about my wife is, I
- 25:01Speaker 1: wouldn't be on this MP with you if it was
- 25:03Speaker 1: not for my wife, because I've had many more failures
- 25:06Speaker 1: than I've had success, you know, and you know each
- 25:08Speaker 1: failure is a success if you don't duplicate because you
- 25:12Speaker 1: learned through it, right. But I've had many more failures,
- 25:15Speaker 1: and she never killed my spirit, like you know who,
- 25:19Speaker 1: I'll never forget that. In this last journey, we she
- 25:25Speaker 1: was working and she would be going to work and
- 25:28Speaker 1: she'd be working on our reality. And our reality was
- 25:31Speaker 1: that we were broken. We needed some money, so she
- 25:34Speaker 1: was going and she was earning some money. But she
- 25:36Speaker 1: allowed me to work on our dream, right, which was,
- 25:39Speaker 1: you know, work the business full time right now. A
- 25:43Speaker 1: little hard though, because you know she would be like,
- 25:45Speaker 1: did you make a sale other day? I'm like, I
- 25:48Speaker 1: can't work out of that kind of pressure. Okay, this
- 25:50Speaker 1: let me do my thing, right, but that she allowed
- 25:54Speaker 1: me to do that, And of course, you know it
- 25:57Speaker 1: was ridicute because you know, people knew me and Shanta's
- 26:00Speaker 1: broke man and this and that. But man, I didn't
- 26:03Speaker 1: let in that sway me because I know, broke man.
- 26:05Speaker 1: It's just temporary, right, right, right. But when our when
- 26:10Speaker 1: our dream became my reality, then her reality changed because
- 26:16Speaker 1: she was able to do what she wants, when she wants,
- 26:18Speaker 1: and how she wants, okay, and but she still chooses
- 26:22Speaker 1: not to sit on her butt all day live in
- 26:24Speaker 1: the lap of luxury. My wife were active in our business,
- 26:26Speaker 1: you know, because she loves the people. She's a big
- 26:29Speaker 1: part of the reason why we're here because she interacts
- 26:32Speaker 1: for people like maybe I don't know. I've been told
- 26:35Speaker 1: I might come off like a shark sometime, man, but
- 26:37Speaker 1: I just don't play because being broken and climbing out
- 26:40Speaker 1: of that hole that broke old man, it's rough, and
- 26:44Speaker 1: so you don't have time to nurture anybody and breastfeed people.
- 26:48Speaker 1: And man, look it's like it's man, this spears to
- 26:51Speaker 1: famine out here, you know, when you're trying to live
- 26:54Speaker 1: your dream, man, when you're trying to come from broke
- 26:56Speaker 1: too and to giving your family the life you want
- 26:59Speaker 1: to give. The man, you gotta be a gorilla. Well,
- 27:02Speaker 1: let me start talking about that, Kenny, because you know,
- 27:04Speaker 1: because I'm probably I'm mad at myself because we talked
- 27:07Speaker 1: about it off air, and I should have started this
- 27:09Speaker 1: conversation with it, because you're not both over sixty. And
- 27:12Speaker 1: we all know that, especially Black people, they tended a
- 27:16Speaker 1: lot of ages when they think they can. This is
- 27:18Speaker 1: when I for the I'm for the I'm done fifty,
- 27:21Speaker 1: I'm done. I'm trying to retire, and we all know
- 27:23Speaker 1: there's no money waiting on your sixty five years of age.
- 27:26Speaker 1: You and I both know that, so what to continued?
- 27:29Speaker 1: And I and I remember I did an interview and
- 27:32Speaker 1: it with viral when I was talking about I don't
- 27:34Speaker 1: have an age limit. Agees a number that's necessary. And
- 27:38Speaker 1: and I hate people who who I don't see how
- 27:40Speaker 1: old I am. I I don't know how you can
- 27:42Speaker 1: be successful unless you get older. That's what's called experience.
- 27:45Speaker 1: And if you do the right to have the right
- 27:47Speaker 1: type of experience, you get paid for that value. Let's
- 27:49Speaker 1: talk about you, because you said Rachean at fifty, I
- 27:52Speaker 1: cranked it back up. Let's talk about that not allowing
- 27:55Speaker 1: age to stop you kidny. No, I mean I adn't
- 27:58Speaker 1: age because I think my my calling, you know, like
- 28:02Speaker 1: we all to put on this earth man with a purpose,
- 28:04Speaker 1: and man some of us die crying because we've never
- 28:07Speaker 1: discovered our purpose, because we don't keep on movingfore and
- 28:11Speaker 1: for me, I anybody who's known me all my life
- 28:15Speaker 1: will tell you that I always said I wanted to
- 28:17Speaker 1: be a millionaire, and I didn't know how, what or what,
- 28:21Speaker 1: but I would My goal was to be a millionaire.
- 28:24Speaker 1: And I said it took me fifty years to make
- 28:26Speaker 1: an happy in a lot of pain. Right. Well, a
- 28:29Speaker 1: lot of people my age, they're downsizing. You know, they're
- 28:33Speaker 1: looking for you know, uh, one of those chairs. I
- 28:38Speaker 1: those one of those chairs. Do you put the lever
- 28:40Speaker 1: and they go, I don't even know what it is
- 28:41Speaker 1: because I don't even here. They're going to standing the
- 28:44Speaker 1: stairs and let check going stand man. They just said
- 28:46Speaker 1: in it, they just tell the people. And this is
- 28:51Speaker 1: might I say this to y'all, say it from my heart.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I'm working on my jet right right. I got two
- 28:58Speaker 1: of things, man, on my on my my fishing board, man,
- 29:01Speaker 1: that I got to complete, and that's my jet and
- 29:03Speaker 1: my yott. I mean, I'm gonna have my jet. I
- 29:06Speaker 1: know what I'm gonna have because I have my expectation date.
- 29:09Speaker 1: I'm closed my yat. I know what I'm gonna have that,
- 29:13Speaker 1: and I will have that before sixty five. Right. And
- 29:17Speaker 1: the point is I'm sixty one years old. Man. Look,
- 29:20Speaker 1: I don't subscribe to that. When you get a certain age,
- 29:23Speaker 1: you start wearing those sweaters, man, and sitting in up
- 29:26Speaker 1: in the recol recliner, that's what you call a recliner chair,
- 29:29Speaker 1: watching TV with the man. Oh listen, that's like you too.
- 29:34Speaker 1: I don't do your thing, but I want everybody to
- 29:37Speaker 1: know that my life I was reborn at excuse me,
- 29:45Speaker 1: I was reborn years old and I'm telling you I'm
- 29:49Speaker 1: sixty one and I still have the energy and vibrants
- 29:54Speaker 1: of a forty yeard. Why because my life is burning, right,
- 30:00Speaker 1: you know, my my life is still burning, man, because
- 30:04Speaker 1: I still have work. You know. It's really interesting that
- 30:09Speaker 1: I tell everybody I didn't really despite having success in
- 30:11Speaker 1: my life, Kenny, it wasn't until I was forty two
- 30:14Speaker 1: that I really accepted who I was and who I
- 30:17Speaker 1: could be. And so age plays a role in all.
- 30:20Speaker 1: That's that's why I admired people like Barack Obama, who
- 30:24Speaker 1: I call him visionaries. They knew early on he wanted
- 30:26Speaker 1: to be president, you know, and so like you said,
- 30:28Speaker 1: it was shane. I remember in high school, Kenny. You know,
- 30:33Speaker 1: we didn't have enough money to burily buy our basketball
- 30:36Speaker 1: shoes that we played in every day. But we used
- 30:39Speaker 1: to cut out pictures of foreign cars, Porsches, corvettes, and
- 30:44Speaker 1: I just always remember that, and guess what I drive
- 30:47Speaker 1: today those type of cars. For some reason, in my mind,
- 30:50Speaker 1: even though I didn't know it, Kenny, I was, I
- 30:53Speaker 1: was instilling a value in me, an aspiration in me
- 30:56Speaker 1: that this is what I wanted in my life. And
- 30:59Speaker 1: even with my friend and settled for you know cars,
- 31:01Speaker 1: I thought, I just waited up. I remember the very
- 31:03Speaker 1: first car was a fore Cars Fiat X one nine
- 31:07Speaker 1: to to see the and because I just knew that
- 31:11Speaker 1: that's the game I wanted to play. And when you
- 31:13Speaker 1: say yourself with Sean at fifty, I remodeled and just
- 31:17Speaker 1: started my career where I wanted to go. Now you're
- 31:19Speaker 1: talking about you got goals all the way to sixty five,
- 31:21Speaker 1: and I know your goals beyond sixty five. But what
- 31:24Speaker 1: I always want to tell people when you think like you, Kenny,
- 31:27Speaker 1: it impacts you physically as well. You walk different, you
- 31:31Speaker 1: talk different, you dressed different. Am I right? Absolutely? One man?
- 31:36Speaker 1: I mean everything about me. I just worked through things. Man,
- 31:41Speaker 1: you know, because I know it was waiting with Kenny.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I want to let you go. Is the top of
- 31:47Speaker 1: lifestyle or off? I want to get your phone number
- 31:50Speaker 1: from you because I'm like, I got a home down
- 31:52Speaker 1: in Houston, Texas, I lived by headquarters down in Atlanta.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Then you know when you get that uh, that plane,
- 31:57Speaker 1: that jet. You know what I'm saying. You know, you
- 32:00Speaker 1: know I'm not gonna ask you what what size you
- 32:02Speaker 1: getting there? What's your what's your what's your vision? The want? Okay,
- 32:07Speaker 1: because I've been on some chets now, I've been on
- 32:09Speaker 1: some jetski uh, I get it. You come here and
- 32:14Speaker 1: you say Vegas, Yes, and you know I got the
- 32:18Speaker 1: relationships baby in Vegas. I got their relationship, Andy Kiddy. Man, please, brother,
- 32:23Speaker 1: stay blessed and again, Man, we're friends. Now, we're relationship. Brother.
- 32:27Speaker 1: And I don't tell everybody about the Taper lifestyle and
- 32:30Speaker 1: networking you've done, man, and everything that you're doing, man,
- 32:33Speaker 1: because it's about uplifting people. Man. And look, man, you've
- 32:37Speaker 1: had a lot of success. Man. And I'm telling you man,
- 32:39Speaker 1: I'm very honored man to be a proper Thank you
- 32:42Speaker 1: very much. Thank you, my brother. We talked soon. Man.
