- 0:01Hey everyone, this is Dina from Mentor365 Services Incorporated.
- 0:07This is a continuation from yesterday. Today we're going to talk about Chapter
- 0:137, Forgiveness and Freedom, Letting Go Without Losing Yourself.
- 0:18So welcome back to The Healing Mind.
- 0:21In Chapter 6, we explore how to protect your peace and the power of setting
- 0:25boundaries. Today, we turn to one of the hardest and most liberating lessons of all.
- 0:33Forgiveness and freedom, letting go without losing yourself.
- 0:38Forgiveness isn't just a spiritual idea. It's a mental, emotional,
- 0:43and even physical release.
- 0:45When you forgive, you are not saying what happened was okay.
- 0:49You are saying you are ready to stop carrying the pain.
- 0:58Forgiveness is not the same as forgetting.
- 1:01It's not letting people hurt you again. It's not ignoring injustice or pretending everything is fine.
- 1:07Forgiveness is releasing your attachment to the offense.
- 1:11The need to replay it, relive it, or seek revenge.
- 1:16It's choosing peace over bitterness, healing over hurt.
- 1:21You can forgive someone and still choose distance. You can forgive and still have boundaries.
- 1:26You can forgive and still grieve what was lost.
- 1:30Forgiveness doesn't erase pain. It transforms it.
- 1:35The weight of unforgiveness. Holding on to an anger or resentment is like carrying
- 1:41a heavy backpack through life.
- 1:43At first, you think you can handle it. But over time, that weight slows you
- 1:49down, drains your joy, and clouds your judgment.
- 1:53Psychologically, unforgiveness fuels stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline.
- 2:00It can heighten anxiety, depression, and even physical attention.
- 2:04But forgiveness, real forgiveness, releases that burden.
- 2:08When you let go, your nervous system relaxes, your heart rate slows,
- 2:15your sleep improves, you create space for grace to flow again.
- 2:20So in Ephesians 4.32 says, be kind and compassionate to one another,
- 2:28forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you.
- 2:34God's forgiveness isn't based on worthiness, it's based on love.
- 2:39And that's the foundation for how we must forgive others and ourselves.
- 2:44When Jesus said on the cross, Father, forgive them, He was releasing the pain
- 2:50of humanity's rejection while being crucified.
- 2:55That moment teaches us forgiveness is not weakness, it's divine strength.
- 3:01Forgiveness doesn't erase accountability. It just removes the poison of bitterness from your soul.
- 3:09So let me tell you a story, the woman who couldn't let go.
- 3:14There was a woman named Clara who carried deep resentment toward her sister
- 3:19for years. A family arguing turned into silent and silent into distant.
- 3:25She told herself, I'll forgive when she apologized.
- 3:29But the years went by and no apology came.
- 3:34On Sunday during prayer, she felt a quiet whisper in her heart,
- 3:38Forgive her, not for her, but for you.
- 3:43That day, Clara wrote her sister a letter.
- 3:46She didn't justify the past. She simply said, I release this to God. I chose peace.
- 3:53When she mailed that letter, Clara said she felt a weight lift,
- 3:58a freedom she hadn't felt in years. Her sister never replied,
- 4:03but that wasn't the point.
- 4:05Claire forgave to heal herself.
- 4:10So, I'm going to give you a forgiveness reflection exercise, a coaching tool.
- 4:17This is a gentle exercise you can practice anytime you feel stuck in resentment.
- 4:22Find a quiet space, breathe deeply, and reflect on these questions.
- 4:28Who or what am I still holding resentment toward?
- 4:32How has this resentment affected my peace, energy, or relationship? it.
- 4:38What would freedom look like if I chose to release this?
- 4:42What lesson did this experience teach me about strength, grace, or discernment?
- 4:48Write your responses without judgment, then say softly, I release what no longer serves me.
- 4:56I forgive to free my heart.
- 4:59You don't have to rush the process. Forgiveness is journey, not a moment.
- 5:05So, often the hardest person to forgive is ourselves.
- 5:11We replay mistakes, question our choices, and carry guilt for years.
- 5:17But God's grace is bigger than our past.
- 5:21Romans 8.1 says, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
- 5:31Condemnation could change you to yesterday. Grace invites you into tomorrow.
- 5:39If God can forgive you, who are you to withhold forgiveness from yourself?
- 5:44Let that truth settle in your heart. You can still be whole.
- 5:49You can still be used. You can still start over.
- 5:54When forgiveness feels impossible, right? Well, sometimes the wound feels too
- 6:00deep, betrayal or abuse or loss.
- 6:03But forgiveness doesn't mean pretending it didn't hurt.
- 6:07It means allowing God to heal what you cannot fix on your own.
- 6:12If you cannot forgive yet, start by saying, God helped me want to forgive.
- 6:19That's enough. Healing begins with willingness, not perfection.
- 6:26Therapists often teach us gradual forgiveness, a process of emotion release, layer by layer.
- 6:35Each time you choose compassion over anger, you are peeling back another layer of pain.
- 6:41Forgiveness isn't one giant leap. It's a thousand small steps toward freedom.
- 6:48So here are the signs you are healing through forgiveness.
- 6:52You know you are healing when the memory no longer triggers rage but reflection.
- 6:58You feel peace when you once felt pain. You stop rehearsing the story and start rewriting your life.
- 7:06You pray for others' peace, not their punishment. That's when you know the wound has become wisdom.
- 7:14I'm going to give you some affirmation for forgiveness and feeling.
- 7:18I chose peace over bitterness. Forgiveness is a gift I give myself.
- 7:23I release the past and open my heart to healing.
- 7:26I am forgiven, therefore I can forgive.
- 7:30Say them out loud or write them daily.
- 7:34These words are not just affirmations. They are declarations of freedom.
- 7:41So in closing, forgiveness doesn't erase what happened, but rewrites what happens
- 7:47next. It's not about excusing pain. It's about refusing to let pain define you.
- 7:56You deserve to live unchanged you deserve to wake up free you deserve peace
- 8:00so today even it's just one step start walking towards forgiveness because the
- 8:06road to healing begins with release,
