- 0:01Speaker 1: It would also restore up to five billion dollars of
- 0:06Speaker 1: American taxpayer funds for wasteful spending for international projects. They
- 0:10Speaker 1: want to spend twenty four point six million of your
- 0:13Speaker 1: hard earned dollars as a taxpayer for climate resilience in Honduras,
- 0:16Speaker 1: thirteen point four million for civic engagement in Zimbabwe, three
- 0:20Speaker 1: point nine million for lgbtqiplus democracy grants and the Western Balkans,
- 0:26Speaker 1: two point nine million of your dollars for desert locust
- 0:30Speaker 1: risk reduction in the Horn of Africa, and two million
- 0:33Speaker 1: for quote organizing for feminist democratic principles in Africa. We
- 0:37Speaker 1: are not doing that.
- 0:39Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Good Wednesday morning. Nice to have you with us on
- 0:45Speaker 3: the forty seven Morning Update, and we've got two big
- 0:47Speaker 3: stories for you coming out of the White House. First up,
- 0:50Speaker 3: Democrats are demanding trillions of your tax dollars to reopen
- 0:55Speaker 3: the government. And now we know what they want to
- 0:58Speaker 3: spend your tax dollars on. Crazy programs not even in
- 1:03Speaker 3: the United States of America. We have the list for you,
- 1:07Speaker 3: and I'm going to give it to you in just
- 1:08Speaker 3: a moment. We also had an incredible moment at the
- 1:11Speaker 3: White House where Charlie Kirk was honored with the highest
- 1:15Speaker 3: civilian honor that you can get. It was a moment
- 1:18Speaker 3: to remember Charlie Kirk and also to honor his life
- 1:22Speaker 3: and his legacy. You'll also hear from Senator Cruz and
- 1:25Speaker 3: what he had to say about that day in the
- 1:28Speaker 3: Rose Garden. It's the forty seven morning Update and it starts.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Right now story number one.
- 1:34Speaker 3: We have entered week three of the Democrat government shut down,
- 1:39Speaker 3: the Schumer shut down. But Democrats are now saying they're
- 1:42Speaker 3: willing to move to reopen the government as long as
- 1:47Speaker 3: Republicans will now include three point nine million for LGBTQI
- 1:54Speaker 3: plus democracy grants in Western Balkans. This is not a joke.
- 2:01Speaker 3: This is how crazy the governments are holding Americans hostage,
- 2:05Speaker 3: holding government workers hostage, holding our military hostage from their paychecks.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Democrats now demanding to reopen the government and include the
- 2:14Speaker 3: three point nine million for these LGBTQI plus democracy grants.
- 2:21Speaker 3: The House Speaker Mike Johnson revealing on Tuesday, the fourteenth
- 2:25Speaker 3: day of the government shut down. Welcome to day fourteen
- 2:30Speaker 3: of the Democrat government shutdown. It's two weeks of Democrats
- 2:34Speaker 3: in Congress inflicting untold pain on the American people for
- 2:38Speaker 3: nothing other than pure politics, As we've explained at this
- 2:42Speaker 3: podium every day of the shutdown, Johnson said. Johnson has
- 2:46Speaker 3: repeatedly explained that Republicans put forth a clean continuing resolution,
- 2:52Speaker 3: you know it as a CR. It's something that Republicans
- 2:55Speaker 3: agreed to thirteen times when Joe Biden was the president
- 3:00Speaker 3: to effectively keep the lights on, but Democrats purposely rejected
- 3:05Speaker 3: it several times despite being in favor of it in
- 3:09Speaker 3: the past. Democrats are now using the shutdown to force
- 3:13Speaker 3: a fight on healthcare, something that Johnson has made clear
- 3:17Speaker 3: is a separate issue not tied to the Continuing resolution.
- 3:21Speaker 3: As a Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer is desperate to
- 3:25Speaker 3: appease his Marxist base. Now for a greater perspective, Johnson
- 3:30Speaker 3: walked through some of the demands and the Democrats counter proposal,
- 3:34Speaker 3: highlighting the sheer absurdity of the one point five trillion
- 3:38Speaker 3: dollars in new spending that you, as a taxpayer, would
- 3:42Speaker 3: pay for. He said, quote they would send a half
- 3:45Speaker 3: billion dollars to liberal news outlets by refunding the Corporation
- 3:51Speaker 3: for public broadcasting. It would also restore up to five
- 3:55Speaker 3: billion of American taxpayer funds for wasteful spending for international projects,
- 4:01Speaker 3: he said, providing specific examples, saying, here's just a couple
- 4:04Speaker 3: of them. This is in their legislation. The Democrats their
- 4:09Speaker 3: counterproposal on the SIRE to keep the lights on. This
- 4:12Speaker 3: is what they want to do. They want to spend
- 4:15Speaker 3: twenty four point six million of your hard earned dollars
- 4:19Speaker 3: as a tax payer for climate resilience in Honduras. That's
- 4:25Speaker 3: not in America. They want to spend another thirteen point
- 4:30Speaker 3: four million for civic engagement in Zimbabwe, again not putting
- 4:35Speaker 3: America first. They want to spend three point nine million,
- 4:40Speaker 3: as I mentioned, for the LGBTQI plus democracy grants in
- 4:44Speaker 3: the Western Balkans. They want to spend two point nine
- 4:48Speaker 3: million of your tax dollars for desert locust risk reduction,
- 4:54Speaker 3: not in America, in the Horn of Africa. And also
- 4:58Speaker 3: two million, Johnson said for organizing the Feminist Democratic Principles,
- 5:06Speaker 3: not even in America, but in Africa. The President talking
- 5:11Speaker 3: about all of this, saying it from Capitol Hill and
- 5:14Speaker 3: making it clear that Americans are not going to pay
- 5:17Speaker 3: for this as long as he's in charge. Johnson said
- 5:20Speaker 3: their proposals would also reverse common sense reforms that Republicans
- 5:26Speaker 3: made in the Working Families Tax Cut Act that keep
- 5:30Speaker 3: illegal aliens off taxpayer fund at healthcare. This is a fact.
- 5:34Speaker 3: They would add the illegal aliens non citizens back to
- 5:38Speaker 3: the taxpayer funded benefits. It would cost taxpayers nearly two
- 5:43Speaker 3: hundred billion dollars. Johnson also said they would also remove
- 5:48Speaker 3: a very reasonable, reasonable, and moderate modest work requirement that
- 5:55Speaker 3: we put on able bodied young men with no dependence,
- 5:59Speaker 3: he said, noting it would also make COVID error Obamacare
- 6:04Speaker 3: subsidies permanent without any income caps or any other reforms
- 6:10Speaker 3: at all. So here we are entering week three, and
- 6:15Speaker 3: what you know is that the president of the United
- 6:17Speaker 3: States of American Republicans are united to save your tax dollars.
- 6:22Speaker 3: And part of it now is exposing exactly what the
- 6:25Speaker 3: left demands from you, that you go to work every
- 6:28Speaker 3: day and then you pay for these egregious programs that
- 6:32Speaker 3: aren't even in the United States of America.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Now story number two.
- 6:36Speaker 3: It was a very moving moment at the White House.
- 6:39Speaker 3: It was not covered like the memorial for Charlie Kirk.
- 6:43Speaker 3: But it was a day that we should all pause
- 6:46Speaker 3: and listen to what was said at the White House.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Donald Trump awarded Charlie Kirk the Medal of Freedom on
- 6:53Speaker 3: what would have been his thirty second birthday. President Trump
- 6:58Speaker 3: had a lot to say about Charlie, and here is
- 7:02Speaker 3: part of what he had to say about who he was.
- 7:05Speaker 5: But it was a horrible, heinous, demonic act of murder.
- 7:10Speaker 5: He was assassinated in the prime of his life for
- 7:13Speaker 5: boldly speaking the truth, for living his faith and relentlessly
- 7:18Speaker 5: fighting for a better and stronger America. Loved this country
- 7:22Speaker 5: and that's why this afternoon, it's my privilege to posthumously
- 7:27Speaker 5: award Charles James Kirk, our nation's highest civilian honor, the
- 7:32Speaker 5: Presidential Medal of Freedom.
- 7:35Speaker 3: You think about the legacy of Charlie Kirk, the most
- 7:39Speaker 3: powerful man in the world, and the most powerful men
- 7:42Speaker 3: and women in our government, our cabinet members all sitting
- 7:46Speaker 3: at the White House talking about the life, the legacy,
- 7:51Speaker 3: and the faith of Charlie Kirk. Donald Trump also said
- 7:55Speaker 3: this about Charlie Kirk being a martyr, someone who will
- 8:00Speaker 3: always be remembered.
- 8:02Speaker 5: As I said on the day that he was assassinated.
- 8:05Speaker 5: Charlie Kirk was a martyr for truth and for freedom,
- 8:10Speaker 5: and from Socrates to Think and to Saint Peter, from
- 8:15Speaker 5: Abraham Lincoln to Martin Luther King, those who change history
- 8:19Speaker 5: the most, and he really did have always risked their
- 8:23Speaker 5: lives for causes they were put on earth to defend.
- 8:26Speaker 5: He was put on earth to do exactly what he
- 8:29Speaker 5: was doing. He didn't want to waste time. He would
- 8:31Speaker 5: have been a top student at any college in the
- 8:34Speaker 5: country I know to college as well.
- 8:36Speaker 4: Was smarter than the guys. He was so smart. But
- 8:40Speaker 4: he almost I guess, didn't have the time. He knew
- 8:42Speaker 4: what he wanted to do.
- 8:43Speaker 5: It wasn't like you, I want to sit in the
- 8:44Speaker 5: classroom for four years listening to people teach me liberal
- 8:48Speaker 5: principles because they were.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Never going to teach him that anyway. But he didn't
- 8:52Speaker 4: have the time. He really didn't have the time.
- 8:54Speaker 5: But every time the enemies of goodness and virtue tried
- 8:58Speaker 5: to silence the voice of righteous and no, but leaders like.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Charlie they failed. They seem to fail.
- 9:03Speaker 5: Ultimately, they look like they're doing well and then they
- 9:06Speaker 5: end up failing. Because the truth has been unrelenting over
- 9:10Speaker 5: the years over history, and people like Charlie, it's just
- 9:15Speaker 5: they've got a power that others don't have, and very
- 9:19Speaker 5: few people will ever have. So today, like those martyrs
- 9:23Speaker 5: before him, Charlie's voice, his message, and his legacy are
- 9:26Speaker 5: stronger and greater than ever before.
- 9:29Speaker 4: They are greater than ever before.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Charlie Kirk was a martyr for truth and freedom. When
- 9:38Speaker 3: you think about his life, and it was a short life,
- 9:43Speaker 3: you look at now who he's being compared to, as
- 9:47Speaker 3: the President described him as someone that will be remembered
- 9:50Speaker 3: like Saint Peter, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King. Those are
- 9:55Speaker 3: people who change history the most, and referring to Charlie Kirk,
- 9:59Speaker 3: he said he really did. They risked their lives for
- 10:02Speaker 3: causes that they were put on earth to defend, and
- 10:05Speaker 3: that's exactly what Charlie Kirk was doing. The President also
- 10:10Speaker 3: saying this about America and Charlie Kirk's love for this country.
- 10:16Speaker 5: Charles James Kirk was a visionary and one of the
- 10:19Speaker 5: greatest figures of his generation. He was truly an amazing
- 10:23Speaker 5: figure and growing leaps and bells.
- 10:26Speaker 4: He knew that the.
- 10:27Speaker 5: Fight to preserve our heritage is waged not only on
- 10:31Speaker 5: the battlefield and in the halls of power, of which
- 10:34Speaker 5: we have tremendous power here, including the head of a
- 10:38Speaker 5: place called war.
- 10:40Speaker 4: We called now war.
- 10:41Speaker 5: We had defense, we had our secretary of defense. Now
- 10:44Speaker 5: have a secretary of War, and somehow I think it's
- 10:48Speaker 5: more emblematic. And hopefully we'll never have to use war.
- 10:51Speaker 5: But the fact that we're ready is very good. Peace
- 10:54Speaker 5: through strength is very important. But also in the hearts
- 10:57Speaker 5: of our nation's youth. That's where Charles rode strongest at
- 11:01Speaker 5: age eighteen. That inside inspired Charlie to found the organization
- 11:06Speaker 5: that ultimately touched the lives of millions and millions of
- 11:10Speaker 5: people and so many young people that nobody's ever seen
- 11:14Speaker 5: anything like it. Frankly, turning Point USA. It's amazing, and
- 11:19Speaker 5: it's actually bigger now. It's become bigger in the last
- 11:23Speaker 5: few weeks. And Charlie ever thought, I think his end
- 11:29Speaker 5: vision in many years from now would have been just
- 11:31Speaker 5: a fraction of what had turned out to be in
- 11:33Speaker 5: a couple of weeks. Or it's amazing with hard work
- 11:36Speaker 5: and joyful spirit and endless and enthusiasm and determination. And
- 11:42Speaker 5: he did have great enthusiasm, and I say you need
- 11:45Speaker 5: enthusiasm to be successful.
- 11:47Speaker 4: He had great enthusiasm.
- 11:48Speaker 5: Charlie grew Turning Point into the largest conservative youth organization
- 11:52Speaker 5: in the entire country. He forged a personal bond with
- 11:56Speaker 5: countless young conservatives.
- 11:57Speaker 4: He fought for free speech, religious liberty.
- 12:01Speaker 5: Strong borders, and a very strong and proud America. In
- 12:04Speaker 5: everything he did, he put America first. He really put
- 12:08Speaker 5: America first. And ultimately, Charlie, he became more than a
- 12:13Speaker 5: leader of an important organization. He became the leader of
- 12:16Speaker 5: historic movements all over the country. There were movements, individual movements,
- 12:21Speaker 5: one movement, but it was historic.
- 12:24Speaker 4: Everything he did was historic.
- 12:26Speaker 3: And everything he did was historic. An incredible day at
- 12:32Speaker 3: the White House on honor. That was a moment that
- 12:35Speaker 3: was needed. It will hopefully be a moment that his parents,
- 12:40Speaker 3: and his wife and his children will have forever and
- 12:44Speaker 3: never forget.
