- 0:00Speaker 1: It's a mega drama that's taking place for the MAGA
- 0:04Speaker 1: movement and watch in DC. That's how one newspaper put
- 0:09Speaker 1: it this morning. Another one Trump can't say McCarthy even
- 0:13Speaker 1: after he came out saying it's time to end this.
- 0:16Speaker 1: How long will it last? Well, we're on ballot number seven.
- 0:21Speaker 1: If you want to know how long it's gonna last.
- 0:23Speaker 1: There's one individual that you should listen to, mad Gates.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Mad Gates. He's an individual that says he doesn't trust
- 0:32Speaker 1: Kevin McCarthy. Mad Gates has made it clear he's kind
- 0:34Speaker 1: of been the ringleader of the rebellion here and he says,
- 0:37Speaker 1: I'm sorry, we just don't trust him. We don't want him.
- 0:41Speaker 1: He's lied to us too much. Now. He did his
- 0:45Speaker 1: longest interview last night since we've gone to the day
- 0:49Speaker 1: three of this, and I want you to hear what
- 0:52Speaker 1: he had to say about all of these issues on
- 0:55Speaker 1: Fox and thank you so much for coming off. Kevin
- 1:01Speaker 1: McCarthy tonight did not want to hold a vote in
- 1:04Speaker 1: the House because he believes he might be getting closer.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Do you think that's a fair assessment. Well, there's a
- 1:10Speaker 1: reason Kevin McCarthy doesn't want to continue having votes, and
- 1:13Speaker 1: it's because with each vote he seems to be decreasing
- 1:16Speaker 1: in his vote share, and we've only increased with votes
- 1:20Speaker 1: in our vote share in opposition to Kevin McCarthy. We
- 1:22Speaker 1: suspect that that trend is likely to continue. And I
- 1:25Speaker 1: think this ends one of two ways. Trace Either Kevin
- 1:28Speaker 1: bows out realizing there's no path for him to become
- 1:31Speaker 1: Speaker of the House even if he picks up one
- 1:33Speaker 1: or two, or three or five of the twenty who
- 1:36Speaker 1: have opposed him half dozen times on the floor, or
- 1:39Speaker 1: he essentially has to wake up, bring the house into
- 1:42Speaker 1: session and put on a strait jacket with a rules
- 1:45Speaker 1: package that we've presented to him that doesn't allow a
- 1:48Speaker 1: lot of discretion for the Speaker of the House. The
- 1:50Speaker 1: reason we've demanded that is that we do not trust
- 1:53Speaker 1: Kevin McCarthy. And it's not a small body of work.
- 1:55Speaker 1: The guy's been in leadership in Washington, DC for fourteen years,
- 1:59Speaker 1: and this town to change, and we're going to change
- 2:01Speaker 1: it one way or the other, either by changing out
- 2:03Speaker 1: the speaker or by having the most fundamental rewrite of
- 2:07Speaker 1: the rules in really my lifetime. Now, if you hear
- 2:12Speaker 1: what Gates is saying, there are a lot of people
- 2:14Speaker 1: are gonna say, Okay, he's been in leadership fourteen years.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Have we done him last fourteen years? Many would argue,
- 2:21Speaker 1: we've Republicans have not done a good job of delivering
- 2:24Speaker 1: on what they promised they were going to deliver as Republicans.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Is Kevin McCarthy the guy that you want? Is Kevin
- 2:33Speaker 1: McCarthy the guy that you need to change things? His
- 2:37Speaker 1: argument again, No, it's not gonna be him now. He
- 2:41Speaker 1: can only lose three or four of these people out
- 2:45Speaker 1: of the twenty are out of every Republican to get
- 2:49Speaker 1: this job. And I think what you're hearing here from
- 2:52Speaker 1: Matt Gates is you may be able to callback one
- 2:56Speaker 1: or two or three out of the twenty, you are
- 2:57Speaker 1: not going to be able to call back every one.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Your day is over and it's done now. Then the
- 3:03Speaker 1: question becomes, what are his other options? Can Kevin McCarthy
- 3:07Speaker 1: get together with some Democrats who walk out of the
- 3:10Speaker 1: chamber to lower the threshold needed to become the speaker?
- 3:14Speaker 1: That is another possibility that's been floated. He would have
- 3:17Speaker 1: to give concessions to Democrats for them to do that.
- 3:20Speaker 1: So far, the Democrats seem to be loving this chaos,
- 3:24Speaker 1: and the Democrats have decided. I think it's pretty clear
- 3:27Speaker 1: now that is not in their best interest. They want
- 3:31Speaker 1: to keep this going for as long as they can.
- 3:34Speaker 1: There's another option, and that is Kevin McCarthy decides to
- 3:38Speaker 1: step aside or do a more of a in the
- 3:42Speaker 1: middle moderate type speaker. And that moderate type speaker is
- 3:47Speaker 1: I think who they really want. Is that a good decision?
- 3:50Speaker 1: I would argue, no, that would also not be a
- 3:53Speaker 1: good decision. That would be something that I think would
- 3:57Speaker 1: make many conservatives extremely angry. Would Kevin McCarthy do that
- 4:02Speaker 1: just to spite many on the left? I would argue,
- 4:08Speaker 1: there's a very good or on the right, I should
- 4:11Speaker 1: say there's a decent chance Kevin McCarthy could get so
- 4:14Speaker 1: angry that he is not going to become the speaker
- 4:16Speaker 1: in that scenario that he would say, fine, you're gonna
- 4:19Speaker 1: screw me this way. You're gonna screw all this up,
- 4:23Speaker 1: referring to these twenty or even to five. At that point,
- 4:26Speaker 1: people individuals that won't get on board, then I'll show
- 4:30Speaker 1: you what it looks like and the American people can
- 4:33Speaker 1: judge you. Now. Bobert has also got into this with
- 4:36Speaker 1: Matt Gates. They become very famous. Their name recognition, name
- 4:40Speaker 1: ID is going up. Is this hurting them? They do
- 4:44Speaker 1: not believe that it's hurting them. Yet they believe that
- 4:48Speaker 1: this is helping their value. Their stock price has gone up.
- 4:53Speaker 1: More people know about some of these new members of
- 4:56Speaker 1: Congress than ever before of any other member of Congress.
- 5:01Speaker 1: That's part of the appeal of being in the one
- 5:04Speaker 1: of twenty. Now, I'm not saying that all of them
- 5:07Speaker 1: are doing it for that reason, but obviously some of
- 5:11Speaker 1: them are. Now, I'll go back through this Gates conversation,
- 5:14Speaker 1: and I want you to hear him lay out more
- 5:16Speaker 1: of Lyne saying I'm not budging. There seems to be
- 5:19Speaker 1: a lot of confusion though about exactly what this group
- 5:22Speaker 1: of twenty wants. You say, rules changes. A lot of
- 5:24Speaker 1: people have said a lot of different things. Is there
- 5:27Speaker 1: something specific, Congressman that you want that would gain your
- 5:32Speaker 1: vote to Kevin McCarthy if that thing was fulfilled. Well,
- 5:36Speaker 1: I'm not voting for Kevin McCarthy. But there are some
- 5:38Speaker 1: of the twenty who I suspect might if we got
- 5:41Speaker 1: control of the Rules Committee and the Appropriations Committee in
- 5:44Speaker 1: the hands of folks that don't vote for bad rules
- 5:46Speaker 1: and bad appropriations bills. Remember, before this last Sommibus, Kevin
- 5:50Speaker 1: McCarthy was paving the way for some of the worst legislation,
- 5:54Speaker 1: driving our country deeper into debt and borrowing against the
- 5:57Speaker 1: futures of the next generation. And so if we got
- 6:00Speaker 1: control of those key committees in the hands of conservatives,
- 6:03Speaker 1: I think there are some of the twenty who might
- 6:06Speaker 1: vote for Kevin McCarthy. If things stand as they are,
- 6:09Speaker 1: I would suspect that the opposition will only grow. Yeah,
- 6:12Speaker 1: you've got people like former Congressman Trade Gaudy who said
- 6:15Speaker 1: they call this opposition a clown show. On national television.
- 6:19Speaker 1: The former Speaker of the House, Nuke Gingridge, has said
- 6:21Speaker 1: that you are holding the house hostage. What is your
- 6:25Speaker 1: response to that type of criticism? And before you hear
- 6:28Speaker 1: Matt Gates's response there, one of the reasons why I
- 6:30Speaker 1: want to play that for you is this. There have
- 6:33Speaker 1: been some people that have been really stupid in all
- 6:35Speaker 1: this all right, and they're Republicans. I'll give you a
- 6:41Speaker 1: perfect example. Dan Crenshaw has called them terrorists, referring to
- 6:47Speaker 1: these twenty. You really think that they're going to come
- 6:51Speaker 1: and work with you and agree on all of this. No, okay, no,
- 6:58Speaker 1: I want to make that clear. That's never going to
- 7:02Speaker 1: help or work or it's never going to happen. Okay,
- 7:07Speaker 1: it's not. And if the Republicans in the majority right
- 7:13Speaker 1: outside of these twenty were really smart, if they were intelligent,
- 7:20Speaker 1: they wouldn't have been named calling and saying the things
- 7:22Speaker 1: that they're saying. New Gingrich, who I do like, I
- 7:25Speaker 1: know him well. I think the way that he has
- 7:27Speaker 1: berated them on TV is only going to make these
- 7:29Speaker 1: guys dig in right, It's only going to make things worse.
- 7:35Speaker 1: It's not going to make things better. I want to
- 7:39Speaker 1: be very very very clear about that. When you start
- 7:45Speaker 1: attacking these people this way, it's the dumbest thing you
- 7:49Speaker 1: could possibly do. They're not gonna budge. I don't believe that.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I want to be very very clear here. I don't
- 7:58Speaker 1: believe that Kevin McCarthy is going to be able to
- 8:00Speaker 1: be speaker because of the name calling his allies. When
- 8:05Speaker 1: you go out there and you call your people and
- 8:09Speaker 1: your same party terrorists, and your top people are mocking
- 8:13Speaker 1: them this way, and you have people going out there
- 8:15Speaker 1: on TV saying what's being said about them. It's not
- 8:18Speaker 1: going to make them go, oh, moment of clarity, you're
- 8:21Speaker 1: right now. This goes back to leadership. I do believe
- 8:24Speaker 1: Kevin McCarthy has bungled this thing since the very beginning.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Moving his things in the speaker office was a dumb
- 8:30Speaker 1: move before he was a speaker, all right, going and
- 8:33Speaker 1: having a vote on the speakership knowing he didn't have
- 8:38Speaker 1: the votes was bungling it. That was stupid. Then having
- 8:43Speaker 1: your allies go out there and mock these twenty individuals
- 8:47Speaker 1: and try to burn down their houses when you need
- 8:50Speaker 1: their votes was stupid. If Kevin McCarthy ultimately does not
- 8:55Speaker 1: become the speaker, there is no one to blame but
- 8:59Speaker 1: himself the way that he actually did this. There's another
- 9:03Speaker 1: question that people keep asking, and that is who would
- 9:07Speaker 1: the other candidates even be. There's a lot of different
- 9:10Speaker 1: scenarios that have been talked about. Steve Scalise is the
- 9:15Speaker 1: House Number two. I think he's obviously the front runner here.
- 9:19Speaker 1: If Kevin McCarthy does in fact decide to drop out
- 9:21Speaker 1: and realizes there doesn't seem to be a pathway for
- 9:24Speaker 1: him to be the speaker, now, would Steve Scalise be
- 9:28Speaker 1: a guy that a lot could get behind. I think,
- 9:30Speaker 1: so what makes a good speaker? Number one, You got
- 9:34Speaker 1: to be an effective fundraiser, You got to be an
- 9:36Speaker 1: effective communicator. You have to be able to whip the
- 9:39Speaker 1: votes up when you need them. Those are all things
- 9:42Speaker 1: that Steve Scalise can do. He also is a guy
- 9:46Speaker 1: that literally is bled for the party. If you remember,
- 9:49Speaker 1: he was shot and almost killed in that attack on
- 9:53Speaker 1: the Republican members of Congress that we're at the baseball
- 9:56Speaker 1: practice for that congressional baseball game. He is known for
- 10:02Speaker 1: surviving that mass shooting back in twenty seventeen. This is
- 10:07Speaker 1: an individual that has served his party and bled for
- 10:12Speaker 1: his party literally, Okay literally, I think he is probably
- 10:19Speaker 1: the front runner. And if you listen to what Matt
- 10:21Speaker 1: Gates says about what is going to happen moving forward,
- 10:25Speaker 1: he says, I'm not voting for Kevin McCarthy. He's just
- 10:28Speaker 1: dug in here because of all of the attacks on him.
- 10:33Speaker 1: This may be the next best option for Republicans. Listen, well,
- 10:38Speaker 1: Trey Gaudy would know something about clown shows. That's probably
- 10:41Speaker 1: how a lot of us would categorize to Benghazi hearings
- 10:44Speaker 1: that resulted in people screaming at each other in a
- 10:46Speaker 1: big report, but no real accountability. I remember the Trey
- 10:49Speaker 1: Gaudy who went on your network as a congressman and
- 10:52Speaker 1: said that he had reviewed what had gone on with
- 10:54Speaker 1: the FBI and the Department of Justice and that they
- 10:57Speaker 1: had done nothing wrong and that actually the American would
- 11:00Speaker 1: be happy of what they were looking at with President Trump.
- 11:02Speaker 1: We now, of course, know that to be false, and
- 11:04Speaker 1: even Trey Gaudy has expressed regret about that. So I
- 11:07Speaker 1: don't exactly take a lot of armchair quarterbacking from someone
- 11:11Speaker 1: who during his time in Congress wasn't among the fighters.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Representative elect Mike Lawler said the following. Listen and I'll
- 11:19Speaker 1: get your response. The people who are voting against Kevin
- 11:23Speaker 1: McCarthy in the Republican Conference are aiding Joe Biden, aiding
- 11:27Speaker 1: Hakim Jeffries, and aiding Chuck Schumer. How can you come
- 11:31Speaker 1: together and do what you promised the American people you
- 11:35Speaker 1: would do as Republicans after this kind of chaotic House
- 11:39Speaker 1: speakership vote well. I think the world of Mike Lawler.
- 11:42Speaker 1: He's a terrific representative and he's going to do a
- 11:44Speaker 1: great job for the people of New York. But I
- 11:47Speaker 1: wouldn't exactly call this like insurmountable chaos. Keep in mind, Trace,
- 11:51Speaker 1: I mean there are days in the United States Congress
- 11:53Speaker 1: where the only vote that happens is to rename one
- 11:56Speaker 1: post office. So if we could do that for a day,
- 12:00Speaker 1: if there are days where all we vote on or
- 12:02Speaker 1: how we are going to take the next vote, then
- 12:04Speaker 1: maybe taking two or three days or several weeks to
- 12:08Speaker 1: select the person who is second in line to the
- 12:10Speaker 1: presidency is worth our debate and deliberation. And after that,
- 12:14Speaker 1: absolutely we will come together. I have every confidence that
- 12:17Speaker 1: we'll be able to come together and we'll actually be
- 12:19Speaker 1: an effective fighting force if we're able to get rid
- 12:22Speaker 1: of Kevin McCarthy and get somebody like a Jim Jordan,
- 12:24Speaker 1: a Byron Donalds in that speaker's chair. And you notice
- 12:28Speaker 1: there he mentioned two names, A Jim Jordan, a Byron Donalds.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Do they have the votes? No. That's why I go
- 12:35Speaker 1: back to what I just said about Steve's Kalise. And
- 12:36Speaker 1: the worry here is they're going to keep doing this
- 12:39Speaker 1: even if you give them another candid like as Steve's Kalise.
- 12:42Speaker 1: There's others that have thrown up another name that is
- 12:45Speaker 1: a guy by the name of Tom Cole. I'm going
- 12:47Speaker 1: to give you who these names are because you need
- 12:49Speaker 1: to understand where this could go. He's a guy that
- 12:52Speaker 1: understands Republican politics. He's older seventy three. He worked the
- 12:57Speaker 1: Republican National Committee before joining the House in two thousand three.
- 13:01Speaker 1: He's been a member of the powerful Rules and Appropriations committees.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Tom Cole also served as Deputy Minority Whip and chaired
- 13:09Speaker 1: the National Republican Congressional Committee, which is about getting people elected.
- 13:13Speaker 1: His name has been thrown out there because he's more
- 13:18Speaker 1: at the end of his career. He's never seeked really
- 13:20Speaker 1: the limelight, and he understands how to help get other
- 13:23Speaker 1: people elected now. He's a member of the Chickasaw Nation.
- 13:28Speaker 1: He would be the first Native American speaker if his
- 13:32Speaker 1: name was put out there. Another one is Patrick McHenry.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Patrick McHenry failed to secure enough votes in the fifth
- 13:40Speaker 1: speaker ballot. He's been a member of the House since
- 13:43Speaker 1: two thousand and five. North Carolinis McHenry has his sightset
- 13:47Speaker 1: on becoming chair of the House Financial Services Committee's term.
- 13:52Speaker 1: He's a forty seven year old. He's been trained to
- 13:56Speaker 1: really work on banking issues. He had regulars that were
- 14:00Speaker 1: created under the Dodd Frank Bill passed after the O
- 14:03Speaker 1: eight financial crisis. Specifically, he had come up with a
- 14:07Speaker 1: consumer Financial Protection Bureau. He served as a Chief Deputy
- 14:12Speaker 1: Whip in the past, helping keep House Republicans in line
- 14:16Speaker 1: on key party goals that would serve him well as speaker.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Also there's Elistefoni, the youngest Republican woman ever elected to Congress.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Her name has been brought up over the last twenty
- 14:30Speaker 1: four hours. She's thirty eight. She's quickly risen through the
- 14:33Speaker 1: ranks by moving with the political tides. She was elected
- 14:37Speaker 1: in twenty fourteen by the voters of a northern New
- 14:41Speaker 1: York district as a moderate conservative who had worked at
- 14:44Speaker 1: President George W. Bush and Paul Ryan. Then she became
- 14:48Speaker 1: an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump, especially during his first impeachment.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Sephonics loyalty helped her win the number three spot in
- 14:55Speaker 1: House Republican Conference in twenty twenty one, replacing Liz Cheney.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Her name has been on the list. A man who's
- 15:05Speaker 1: set out loud multiple times he doesn't want the job
- 15:08Speaker 1: keeps coming up. Jim Jordan a former college wrestling coach.
- 15:13Speaker 1: If you don't know who Jim Jordan is a guy
- 15:15Speaker 1: that doesn't like to wear a jacket very often. If
- 15:17Speaker 1: you see him on Fox News, you know who I'm
- 15:19Speaker 1: talking about. He's from Ohio, that's an important state. Jordan
- 15:24Speaker 1: takes a, you know, a very blunt approach to politics.
- 15:30Speaker 1: He uses the rules, he uses committee hearings to grill
- 15:34Speaker 1: democratic officials. He's a guy that's asked a lot of
- 15:38Speaker 1: questions of social media companies and they're bias against conservatives.
- 15:42Speaker 1: And he's an individual that believes that we need to
- 15:46Speaker 1: investigate Joe Biden and Hunter Biden. He's also a founding
- 15:51Speaker 1: member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus. Jordan is a
- 15:55Speaker 1: guy that's experienced but still vigorous at fifty eight. He's
- 16:00Speaker 1: also a staunch defender of Donald Trump, who awarded him
- 16:03Speaker 1: the Presidential Medal of Freedom Awards shortly before leaving office.
- 16:08Speaker 1: As the incoming chair of the House Judiciary Committee, that's
- 16:10Speaker 1: what he really wants. He doesn't want to be speaker.
- 16:13Speaker 1: He had pledged to lead investigations into business dealings of
- 16:16Speaker 1: President Joe Biden and his son Hunter. That's what he
- 16:19Speaker 1: says he wants to focus on. There are the other
- 16:24Speaker 1: names that are being been put out there. Do any
- 16:27Speaker 1: of these have a realistic chance of getting elected? We
- 16:30Speaker 1: honestly don't know, because if five people hold out here,
- 16:34Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter. And that's what
- 16:40Speaker 1: Matt Gates seems to be making clear here. We're gonna
- 16:43Speaker 1: hold you hostage and burn this place down. I still
- 16:48Speaker 1: go back to where the big mistakes were made by
- 16:52Speaker 1: Kevin McCarthy and his team, having his allies, having people
- 16:55Speaker 1: go out there on TV, having people say things like
- 16:58Speaker 1: Dan Crenshaw said on the twenty Republicans who oppose McCarthy,
- 17:02Speaker 1: we cannot let the terrorists win. That was a stupid move.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Trey Goudy last night said on TV again mocking these individuals,
- 17:12Speaker 1: saying this is a clown show. You're never going to
- 17:14Speaker 1: get some of these people, Sean, I mean, they live
- 17:18Speaker 1: to be an opposition to Republicans. But people watching your
- 17:22Speaker 1: show need to call and say, you know what, I
- 17:24Speaker 1: didn't work my tail off in November to watch y'all
- 17:27Speaker 1: look like a clown show on national television. So y'all
- 17:31Speaker 1: get behind Kevin. You got your motion to vacate. As
- 17:35Speaker 1: a relates to President Trump. They love him when they
- 17:37Speaker 1: need a pardon, they love him when they need attention.
- 17:40Speaker 1: But when he says Kevin's my person, all of a sudden,
- 17:43Speaker 1: they know better. They know better than the Republican Conference.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Kevin got eighty five percent of the vote in the primary,
- 17:50Speaker 1: and yet they know better. His whole point is, you'll
- 17:54Speaker 1: never be able to work with these people when all
- 17:56Speaker 1: they're trying to do is make themselves that famous. Now,
- 18:00Speaker 1: maybe you agree with that statement, all right, Maybe does
- 18:04Speaker 1: it help saying it out loud and making them dig
- 18:07Speaker 1: in even more. Bobert barely won her reelection, for example.
- 18:12Speaker 1: We're talking like, at one point they said she had
- 18:14Speaker 1: lost the election, and then it came down to one
- 18:16Speaker 1: hundred and handful of votes. You really think that she
- 18:20Speaker 1: cares right now about anything else but winning this battle.
- 18:26Speaker 1: She feels like the Republican Party is broken, and there
- 18:30Speaker 1: is a reason they say that. New Gingrich said, it's
- 18:35Speaker 1: hard to explain to Gee or Putin what's going on.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Freedom is messy and sloppy. I'm okay with this battle.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I've said that from the very beginning. I don't like
- 18:46Speaker 1: fixed elections, rigged elections. I don't like this you know,
- 18:50Speaker 1: we're gonna pick the guy that has, you know, and
- 18:52Speaker 1: not ask questions. I'm okay with a grand debate. What
- 18:56Speaker 1: I'm not okay with is people that are using to
- 19:01Speaker 1: negotiate just so they get more Twitter followers, just so
- 19:07Speaker 1: they get more TV time. That's why I've been an
- 19:10Speaker 1: advocating for Chip Roy from the very beginning. What he's
- 19:13Speaker 1: been saying about the rules and what he's been saying
- 19:17Speaker 1: about the changes he wants. I understand him. But there's
- 19:22Speaker 1: some in this twenty that they're just doing this because
- 19:25Speaker 1: they don't like the fact that they that Kevin McCarthy
- 19:28Speaker 1: and the Republican leadership doesn't agree with him on every
- 19:31Speaker 1: single thing. That is the problem, because it's not that
- 19:35Speaker 1: they're standing up for America, okay, It's what they're doing
- 19:38Speaker 1: is they're sitting up for themselves. Now. I also don't
- 19:42Speaker 1: agree with new gingrich On. I'm saying, it's hard to
- 19:44Speaker 1: explain what's having to putin gee, I don't really care,
- 19:47Speaker 1: and he's saying, you know, these guys need to get
- 19:49Speaker 1: in line. Well, that's how you got your speakership. With
- 19:51Speaker 1: all due respect, I did a tweet today saying it's
- 19:54Speaker 1: really hard to explain to Putin or Jiping or Kim
- 19:58Speaker 1: Jong Len exactly what what's going on, because this is freedom,
- 20:02Speaker 1: and freedom is messy and sloppy and also remarkable, remarkably creative.
- 20:08Speaker 1: We'll get there and we'll have a speaker probably, I think,
- 20:12Speaker 1: probably sometime tomorrow. And I just checked a few minutes ago.
- 20:15Speaker 1: The last time this happened in nineteen twenty three, it
- 20:18Speaker 1: took nine ballots, and the following election the Republicans picked
- 20:23Speaker 1: up twenty two more seats. So people shouldn't assume this
- 20:26Speaker 1: is the end of the Republican Party in any way.
- 20:28Speaker 1: This is a healthy, tough, serious conversation, and I think
- 20:33Speaker 1: probably by sometime tomorrow, virtually all not all, but virtually
- 20:36Speaker 1: all of the conference will have found a way to
- 20:39Speaker 1: come back together. Now the ending of what Gingard said,
- 20:43Speaker 1: there yea thank goodness for saying it that way. I
- 20:47Speaker 1: couldn't agree with you more. I don't think that this
- 20:51Speaker 1: is a disaster or debacle. I warned you in the
- 20:54Speaker 1: first show that we did about this right after the
- 20:57Speaker 1: first couple of votes. I said it, and I'll say
- 20:59Speaker 1: it again, in the way that they describe it, I
- 21:03Speaker 1: couldn't agree more. Okay, This is not a debacle, This
- 21:08Speaker 1: is not an embarrassment. I love healthy debates. I think
- 21:13Speaker 1: everything in Washington is definitely broken. The way that we've
- 21:17Speaker 1: talked about it, I believe it's absolutely broken. I think
- 21:21Speaker 1: there are major issues here that need to be changed.
- 21:25Speaker 1: And I think there are major issues here that need
- 21:28Speaker 1: to be changed. I am glad, I am thankful that
- 21:35Speaker 1: we are having this debate. Is it worth two or
- 21:38Speaker 1: three days? Yeah, I really do believe it is. In fact,
- 21:41Speaker 1: I would argue this is probably some of the most
- 21:43Speaker 1: productive days that we've had in Congress of a real
- 21:47Speaker 1: fundamental change. I do also worry about the future that
- 21:51Speaker 1: people are going to realize every time there's a vote,
- 21:53Speaker 1: if it's tight like this, that then they say, all right,
- 21:56Speaker 1: I can get on national TV. Motive right here is everything.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Some of the people have genuine and authentic motives for this.
- 22:04Speaker 1: There's others that do not. But having this debate is
- 22:09Speaker 1: not the end of the world. And to say, well
- 22:11Speaker 1: that if Kevin McCarthy gets he's gonna be the weakest
- 22:13Speaker 1: speaker in history, I don't buy that either. I think
- 22:16Speaker 1: we'll move on from this. I think we'll move on
- 22:19Speaker 1: from it. You know, Bobert, for example, she's loving this
- 22:24Speaker 1: moment almost out of Congress. Saw a bunch of people
- 22:26Speaker 1: kind of show their hand about how much they don't
- 22:28Speaker 1: like her. And then she goes on TV now and
- 22:31Speaker 1: she's got her mojo back. She believes she's famous again.
- 22:34Speaker 1: She's going against the guy that made her famous in
- 22:36Speaker 1: the first place, in the MAGA movement, Donald Trump. Here's
- 22:38Speaker 1: what she had to say on Hannity last night. You
- 22:41Speaker 1: said complimentary things about President Trump. Needs to tell Kevin
- 22:45Speaker 1: McCarthy that, sir, you do not have the votes. It's
- 22:48Speaker 1: time to a draw. Let me turn the tables, cargress woman.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Kevin McCarthy is two hundred and two three votes. Your
- 22:55Speaker 1: site has twenty. So if I'm going to use your
- 22:58Speaker 1: words and you're a teodology in your math, isn't it
- 23:02Speaker 1: time for you to pack it in in your side
- 23:05Speaker 1: to pack it in considering he has over two hundred
- 23:08Speaker 1: and you have twenty. Sean, I understand the frustration, I
- 23:13Speaker 1: promise you, but not frustrated. You didn't answer my question,
- 23:16Speaker 1: and we are hearing. We are hearing from frustrating who
- 23:19Speaker 1: are still voting with Kevin McCarthy. Quotative of what we're doing,
- 23:23Speaker 1: and they're cheering us on. So there are more for
- 23:25Speaker 1: us than are against us, and they are waiting for
- 23:29Speaker 1: Kevin t Kets certainly frustrated by I'm frustrated by you
- 23:34Speaker 1: not answering a direct question you said to President Trump.
- 23:37Speaker 1: You said earlier today that President Trump needs to tell
- 23:41Speaker 1: Kevin McCarthy, you don't have the votes. Come up? Can
- 23:45Speaker 1: I finish handidate to elected? Can I finish the House?
- 23:48Speaker 1: You don't have the votes and it's time to withdraw.
- 23:50Speaker 1: He has two hundred and three, your side has twenty.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Why is it time for him to withdraw and not
- 23:55Speaker 1: you when he has so many more votes? Well, Sean,
- 23:59Speaker 1: he needs two eight and he does not have to eighteen.
- 24:01Speaker 1: We've been trying to do in private, as you said,
- 24:05Speaker 1: for months, but Kevin McCarthy didn't even want to listen
- 24:07Speaker 1: to us until his disappointing minterms. We all want a
- 24:13Speaker 1: you hear her. She says, we have more people that
- 24:15Speaker 1: are with us and against us. I don't think that's true.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Handy's point here of saying, I want to I want
- 24:21Speaker 1: to direct answer to a direct question you said to
- 24:25Speaker 1: President Trump. You and you said earlier today that the
- 24:27Speaker 1: President needs to tell Kevin McCarthy you don't have the votes,
- 24:32Speaker 1: and he's like, well, using that logic, neither to you.
- 24:34Speaker 1: You've got twenty votes and that number could change depending
- 24:38Speaker 1: on who the next candidates that you guys pick the
- 24:42Speaker 1: twenty people. And this is how I'm going to look
- 24:46Speaker 1: at this as we go into this next round of voting.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Today need to do a better job of explaining what
- 24:52Speaker 1: it is they want, and if it is what Bobert
- 24:56Speaker 1: is saying here, then I do believe it's time to
- 24:58Speaker 1: move on because her reason is I don't like Kevin McCarthy.
- 25:04Speaker 1: I'll give htt Gates credit. He's at least said I
- 25:07Speaker 1: don't trust him. I think he's a liar. I don't
- 25:10Speaker 1: believe him. I don't trust him. He's not going to
- 25:12Speaker 1: get my vote. I appreciate that candor and transparency. This
- 25:18Speaker 1: is not, by the way, a bad thing for the
- 25:20Speaker 1: Republican Party, and everybody on TV and everybody in the
- 25:23Speaker 1: raids like, oh this is a disaster, debacle that it's not. Okay,
- 25:28Speaker 1: this is not a debacle. This is not a disaster.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I also will say one of the thing about Kevin McCarthy,
- 25:35Speaker 1: and I'll leave you with this as we go into
- 25:37Speaker 1: these votes today. If Kevin McCarthy can't even get the
- 25:44Speaker 1: Republican Party together to surround him on speaker, why do
- 25:48Speaker 1: we think he would make a great speaker where he
- 25:50Speaker 1: could get Republicans around him on actual issues that need
- 25:55Speaker 1: to be voted on when he needs to wrangle the votes.
- 26:00Speaker 1: I don't believe he's the right guy for the job
- 26:02Speaker 1: based on that. As many of you saw, we uploaded
