- 0:47Speaker 1: where he was an n double ACP Image Award nominee
- 0:50Speaker 1: for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, and on

- 1:08Speaker 1: He's also a writer. I didn't know that until I
- 1:11Speaker 1: started doing my research, which means we share a lot
- 1:14Speaker 1: in comment. He's an Emmy nominated writer, actor, very funny,
- 1:17Speaker 1: stand up comedian and entrepreneur. Please work on the money
- 1:21Speaker 1: making conversations comedian Dean Cole, Hey, how are you doing? Bro?
- 1:26Speaker 1: How are you? How are you selling? I feel really good?
- 1:29Speaker 1: Dean A big fans. Literally get that out the way first, because, Uh,
- 1:33Speaker 1: in the business where you get to see talent and
- 1:35Speaker 1: you get to see people grow. Over the last twenty years, Uh,
- 1:38Speaker 1: I've been able to watch your talent and one of
- 1:40Speaker 1: the funny backstories about how you got started because you're
- 1:43Speaker 1: you're from Chicago, right, okay, and you got started like
- 1:47Speaker 1: a fifty dollar joke if I remember correctly, right, yeah, bad,
- 1:51Speaker 1: there was a fifty dollar bad that it was dollars
- 1:55Speaker 1: and never looked back. Now, now here's the funny part
- 2:00Speaker 1: about it is that you know my background. Uh, everybody
- 2:03Speaker 1: knows from management producing TV shows and and I was
- 2:08Speaker 1: I would say, I'm I'm still a stand up comic.
- 2:10Speaker 1: How could you take that title away from me? Is
- 2:13Speaker 1: that Uh is that I was a writer. I was
- 2:15Speaker 1: a sitcom writer. Now early on were you were you
- 2:18Speaker 1: doing stand up and you was a writer because you
- 2:20Speaker 1: were doing the Tonight Show Conan O'Brien. Correct, Yeah, I
- 2:24Speaker 1: was doing the Uh used to write for Conan O'Brien
- 2:27Speaker 1: for about seven years. Uh. I was always stand up.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Started off the stand up still am a stand up um,
- 2:35Speaker 1: and then that led to me performing on the Tonight
- 2:39Speaker 1: Show as a guest, and from there Conan picked me
- 2:44Speaker 1: up to be a writer on his staff and then
- 2:48Speaker 1: I what's with him for? Like, like I said, about
- 2:51Speaker 1: seven years that's all and I'm still I still rock
- 2:53Speaker 1: with him to this day. Like, uh that the new
- 2:56Speaker 1: show coming on TVs. UM, I was in the last
- 3:00Speaker 1: that's on his other formatted show that was on TVs
- 3:03Speaker 1: and he's revamping this new show was like a thirty
- 3:07Speaker 1: minute show instead of an hour show. And I'll be
- 3:12Speaker 1: on there as well. So yeah, still rock with Connor.
- 3:14Speaker 1: We toured this year just stand up shows and so yeah,
- 3:18Speaker 1: it's a very good friend of mine. Uh man, a
- 3:22Speaker 1: guy who changed my life and always embebted to him.
- 3:26Speaker 1: That's important because you know, uh, Steve Harvey, it was
- 3:29Speaker 1: an important asset in my life. Gave me my first
- 3:31Speaker 1: writing job and sitcom. Yeah, you know, and so I
- 3:35Speaker 1: know what you. I know what relationships can do for you,
- 3:37Speaker 1: you know, because they can open absolutely absolutely the beauty
- 3:40Speaker 1: I like about your careers that somebody opened the door,
- 3:43Speaker 1: but you didn't let it close. Nah. Nah, and and
- 3:48Speaker 1: and and ayre you bringing up Steve Harvey. He was
- 3:51Speaker 1: another influential person in my life as far as where
- 3:55Speaker 1: I'm at today. Steve and I go way back from
- 4:00Speaker 1: him performing in Chicago and started his radio career in Chicago.
- 4:05Speaker 1: We used to perform at all jokes aside in Chicago.
- 4:10Speaker 1: He used to do the radio in order to promote
- 4:12Speaker 1: his show. That's how he started. He would do the
- 4:14Speaker 1: radio for free. Well, while he would be doing his
- 4:18Speaker 1: show the club, we're trying to find new talent to
- 4:22Speaker 1: do five minutes in front of him every night, and
- 4:25Speaker 1: out of everybody, they chose me and I used to
- 4:28Speaker 1: do five minutes in front of him, and then me
- 4:29Speaker 1: and him would go out and my mother's car later
- 4:32Speaker 1: at night and hang out around the city or whatever.
- 4:36Speaker 1: After that, we had plenty conversations about just uh stand
- 4:42Speaker 1: up and how to and how to be and then
- 4:45Speaker 1: what to do and then and that to him getting
- 4:50Speaker 1: several jobs which he had this philosophy which was ABC
- 4:56Speaker 1: always to be closing. And I've seen him. I seen
- 5:00Speaker 1: him one time on a lot while I was at Coned.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I hadn't seen him in a while when I've seen
- 5:04Speaker 1: him over and he knew I was right for Coned
- 5:07Speaker 1: and he was about to I think he was about
- 5:09Speaker 1: to start family feud. Uh I think he was. I
- 5:12Speaker 1: have a like, uh, yeah he was, but he's having
- 5:14Speaker 1: meetings and stuff, and um I told him what I
- 5:20Speaker 1: was doing. We have another conversation in the parking lot,
- 5:23Speaker 1: and he influenced me to never marvel with your success,
- 5:31Speaker 1: you know. He influenced me to be like, you know,
- 5:33Speaker 1: just you know, when you do something, you do that
- 5:37Speaker 1: and let that catapult another thing. Don't marvel and the
- 5:41Speaker 1: thing that you're in. And I was very influential to me,
- 5:44Speaker 1: which let me to be where I am now. You know,
- 5:48Speaker 1: so mult exactly exact, and that's very important. So let's
- 5:55Speaker 1: talk about But I think I like about the shows
- 5:58Speaker 1: that they're all a geat. They all they all bring
- 6:01Speaker 1: out a different talent of yours. They allow you to
- 6:03Speaker 1: be a different personalities. That by is that you know,
- 6:06Speaker 1: we're all just trying to work, but unfortunately, fortunately for
- 6:10Speaker 1: you it's worked out that way. Tell me about the
- 6:13Speaker 1: you know, grown Ish your role on that and because
- 6:15Speaker 1: I don't ever assume that everybody knows everybody, So let's
- 6:19Speaker 1: talk about the ABC show where you are nominated for
- 6:25Speaker 1: Outstanding Supported Actor in the Comedy Series. Yeah. Absolutely black.
- 6:29Speaker 1: This is a show that was very necessary. Um uh.
- 6:34Speaker 1: It catapulted this movement which is going on right now
- 6:38Speaker 1: with a lot of black actors actresses on television right now,
- 6:43Speaker 1: where there wasn't a lot of black shows on the
- 6:47Speaker 1: air at the time. And then when when Black Is
- 6:49Speaker 1: came out and people see how well it did, I
- 6:53Speaker 1: think it like help catapult other networks to be like, man,
- 6:57Speaker 1: we need a black show. But the difference the shows now,
- 7:02Speaker 1: you know, it's not it's no longer like just a
- 7:05Speaker 1: black face on a show or black faces to make
- 7:09Speaker 1: up a black show. What we did was we became
- 7:12Speaker 1: a black voice, which is way more important. And so
- 7:16Speaker 1: as we became that open doors for other black voices.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Shows that had black voices that spoke to how we
- 7:24Speaker 1: feel in America and what we're going through whatever, and
- 7:28Speaker 1: it was very and it was like we didn't know
- 7:31Speaker 1: the magnitude what was gonna go on. We just we
- 7:33Speaker 1: had something special, but we didn't know the magnitude. And
- 7:37Speaker 1: when when it resonated with the people, we were so
- 7:41Speaker 1: excited to uphold the torch and keep going with it.
- 7:45Speaker 1: You know, Black It is very important show, uh, to
- 7:48Speaker 1: this day. I think it's relevant to all races to
- 7:53Speaker 1: be a blueprint to what's going on right now. So
- 7:57Speaker 1: being a part of that movement as and life change
- 8:01Speaker 1: in um and always would be indebted to you know,
- 8:05Speaker 1: Kenya Barris, Anthony Anderson as well. So, uh, it's a
- 8:10Speaker 1: great show. Grown She is a spin off of that
- 8:13Speaker 1: whether teenage girl Yarra. She goes out to go to
- 8:17Speaker 1: college and lives her life of virus being grown. You know,
- 8:21Speaker 1: I played Charlie Keelfy on both shows, which is a
- 8:26Speaker 1: co worker Anthony's in the office, and and then on
- 8:31Speaker 1: Grownish I became dean a students show there and being
- 8:36Speaker 1: an adjunct professor. But you know, it all works out man,
- 8:40Speaker 1: in the funny of it. You know. So that's my relationship,
- 8:44Speaker 1: that's my relationships. That's my relationship. You appear on BT
- 8:47Speaker 1: which is a predominant black market that you put on ABC,
- 8:50Speaker 1: but we all know it's a general market station and
- 8:52Speaker 1: as well as the family as well as TV is.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I don't want to I'll be remiss if I didn't,
- 8:57Speaker 1: because I have watched this show. Uh and Gie try back.
- 9:00Speaker 1: It's a detective is So. So, how how did you
- 9:04Speaker 1: get the casting opportunity on that show? Well, I had
- 9:09Speaker 1: just finished working with Conan and I had my own
- 9:12Speaker 1: show on TBS, show called black Box. The network remember time, Yeah, yeah,
- 9:17Speaker 1: I have my own show. The network at the time
- 9:20Speaker 1: did not support me in the way that I thought
- 9:23Speaker 1: that they should. The way my show was. My show
- 9:26Speaker 1: was a current show to deal with current topics. And
- 9:29Speaker 1: what they wanted me to do is they wanted me
- 9:30Speaker 1: to have like a show that just show clips of
- 9:35Speaker 1: stuff on the Internet and that's that's all it was.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And and we were like, no, we're a current show.
- 9:43Speaker 1: We're talking about current topics and stuff like you know
- 9:46Speaker 1: what I mean, like dealing with stuff that matters or whatever.
- 9:49Speaker 1: But one day they showed a commercial of a woman
- 9:53Speaker 1: chopping watermelons with her breast for my show, and that
- 9:59Speaker 1: was one of the things that made me kind of
- 10:02Speaker 1: be like, what, I didn't know that they were going
- 10:05Speaker 1: to run that commercial, and so I just was like,
- 10:09Speaker 1: I thought, we've done with these six things, these these
- 10:12Speaker 1: six episodes. I'm gonna go back and talk to them
- 10:15Speaker 1: and see if we can revamp this. And the way
- 10:18Speaker 1: that they wanted it wasn't the way that I wanted it,
- 10:20Speaker 1: and so I just kind of just chilled. So as
- 10:23Speaker 1: I was chilling from Matt and Conan, Steve Carrell shout
- 10:28Speaker 1: out to Steve Carrell. Him and his wife Nancy Carrel
- 10:31Speaker 1: had a show coming on TBS and that they were
- 10:34Speaker 1: about to do and they wanted me to come audition
- 10:36Speaker 1: for an audition for it, and the part that I
- 10:41Speaker 1: auditioned for they didn't want me to get, and so
- 10:44Speaker 1: they didn't have a part from me. So they literally
- 10:47Speaker 1: wrote me into the show because they want to be
- 10:49Speaker 1: a part of it. One thing about my career, anything
- 10:53Speaker 1: I ever auditioned for, I never got nothing, nothing at all,
- 11:00Speaker 1: anything that you blackish Conan Conan hired me just out
- 11:04Speaker 1: of the clear blue, like Thot got off stage. He
- 11:07Speaker 1: hired me Blackish. I was a woman by the name
- 11:11Speaker 1: of Tima. Goins told Kenya innovative artist. Yeah, Tama my girl.
- 11:17Speaker 1: She told Kenya Kenya was looking for a writer. So Kenya, hey,
- 11:22Speaker 1: we should you should try to get Dion Cole And
- 11:25Speaker 1: I went over there to interview with Kenyan to be
- 11:27Speaker 1: a writer. And the person I was supposed to show
- 11:31Speaker 1: up to play the character that I played, Charlie, didn't
- 11:33Speaker 1: show up, and so he asked me to play that character.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Anything I ever got, I never auditioned for because the
- 11:42Speaker 1: things that people look at when they're like writing stuff
- 11:45Speaker 1: and putting stuff together, they look at a certain type.
- 11:49Speaker 1: If you're a different kind of person, they can't they can't.
- 11:53Speaker 1: They can't think of you and put you in there.
- 11:56Speaker 1: It's something that they didn't think of. So therefore, why
- 11:59Speaker 1: would they choose you for their product project? You get
- 12:02Speaker 1: what I'm saying, because you don't fit what they thought
- 12:05Speaker 1: definitely your voice, you know, exactly exactly. So So if
- 12:10Speaker 1: if I'm I'm never gonna be what anybody intends for
- 12:14Speaker 1: me to be, then they're not gonna pick me. But
- 12:18Speaker 1: some people are going to be smart enough to go
- 12:20Speaker 1: you know what, I've never seen the likes of such
- 12:23Speaker 1: of this person. I'm gonna take a chance on them.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Because this person is talented, unique and those that have
- 12:30Speaker 1: done that, we have done magic together, which is like
- 12:32Speaker 1: Conan and the Correllic and your Barriss, like you can
- 12:36Speaker 1: find them, Yo, I want this. I mean, it's it's
- 12:39Speaker 1: the way people the way people like cast people and
- 12:43Speaker 1: stuff like that. I think they just it's kind of
- 12:45Speaker 1: like shopping in a sense. You might you have a
- 12:49Speaker 1: brown suit and you're looking for some brown shoes. That's
- 12:53Speaker 1: you're in the mall looking for some brown shoes and
- 12:55Speaker 1: you can't find them. But you see these green shoes
- 12:58Speaker 1: that amazing, but they don't go with your brown suit.
- 13:02Speaker 1: But you see them and you're like, wow, you're gonna
- 13:05Speaker 1: go Still, you still gonna go get them brown shoes
- 13:08Speaker 1: with some green shoes gonna be on your mind. You
- 13:10Speaker 1: might even come back and get them green shoes and
- 13:13Speaker 1: then get an outfit to go with the green shoes.
- 13:16Speaker 1: That don't mean them green shoes ain't amazing, they just
- 13:18Speaker 1: didn't go with that outfit. And so that's how that's
- 13:22Speaker 1: that's how I always look at how I am when
- 13:25Speaker 1: they're coming a bit come to the business, and how
- 13:27Speaker 1: I've always been like shows and to do things like
- 13:30Speaker 1: and that's how a lot of people should look at it.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Don't ever look at it like you're not worthy enough.
- 13:35Speaker 1: You just didn't go at that outfit. But they're gonna
- 13:37Speaker 1: come back for you if they if they want you,
- 13:39Speaker 1: they're gonna come back for you. And they did that
- 13:42Speaker 1: with me several times. So I've never got nothing at
- 13:46Speaker 1: an audition for nothing. Well, my man, I'm just gonna
- 13:49Speaker 1: tell you, I've been seeing you. I admire your your
- 13:52Speaker 1: personality and your style. It's unique. You're not a you're
- 13:56Speaker 1: not a Kevin or you're not a Steve Harvey. You're
- 13:58Speaker 1: not you're not a Nick Canny. You're young Cole and
- 14:01Speaker 1: that's special and never what makes That's what I'm excited
- 14:03Speaker 1: to have had you on my show. I know that
- 14:05Speaker 1: I'm a friend of yours and a fan of yours,
- 14:07Speaker 1: and you know a lot of names that I know.
- 14:09Speaker 1: And keep mastering that multiple streams of income. Okay, just
- 14:14Speaker 1: keep mastering. All right, We'll be back with more, and
- 14:18Speaker 1: thank you for coming on my show. The Money Making

- 14:30Speaker 1: ras Sean McDonald And like the rest of us, I
- 14:32Speaker 1: found out last night my wife loves my pillow. You
- 14:35Speaker 1: know why. I came in and she was sleeping with
- 14:37Speaker 1: a smile. But guess what I thought. She was sleeping

- 16:19Speaker 1: their celebrities. Let people know several celebrities are diverse CEOs
- 16:23Speaker 1: out there changing the game. UM, I'm happy with this show.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I started in Atlanta, Georgia and Houston, Texas, moving to Atlanta, Georgia,
- 16:31Speaker 1: and uh. Basically the concept has taken off to a
- 16:34Speaker 1: level that I didn't even mix BacT and uh. And
- 16:37Speaker 1: I'm really really excited about the possibilities of what is
- 16:39Speaker 1: it's gonna do in eighteen Because when you have guests
- 16:42Speaker 1: on my show, like my next guests, that lets you
- 16:46Speaker 1: know that the words get down, let's get down, what
- 16:50Speaker 1: make the whole show. My next guest is the CEO
- 16:52Speaker 1: and publisher of Sheen Magazine, which is the ultimate beauty
- 16:56Speaker 1: guide for the modern woman that includes beauty, fashion, hair,
- 16:59Speaker 1: and entertainment. Please working with the money making conversations. Ms.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Kimberly Chapman, Good morning, how are you today. I'm doing
- 17:07Speaker 1: really good, really really good. You know. It is the
- 17:10Speaker 1: great thing about your energy. It matches the energy that
- 17:13Speaker 1: I set in the photos that I've seen throughout this
- 17:16Speaker 1: It's a duality there, correct, Thank you. I appreciate that
- 17:20Speaker 1: I worked on that every single day. Well you were
- 17:24Speaker 1: you winning as far as I'm concerned, because you got
- 17:27Speaker 1: you know, if I was a little bit if I
- 17:28Speaker 1: was a little bit down, you know, you brought me
- 17:30Speaker 1: up and I wasn't. I'm not down now. I'm just
- 17:32Speaker 1: want to let you know I'm not down. Well, you
- 17:34Speaker 1: know you don't ever want to be down because it's
- 17:36Speaker 1: your life. What you're gonna do, eat and every day,
- 17:41Speaker 1: and you can decide what your day is gonna be.
- 17:43Speaker 1: So you know I choose to be happy and forceful
- 17:46Speaker 1: and energetic every day. Well that's important. Um, I don't
- 17:50Speaker 1: know if I'm energetic, but I am definitely driven to
- 17:53Speaker 1: achieve a level of success on the day to day basis.
- 17:56Speaker 1: That's why I started this show to motivate people that
- 17:59Speaker 1: are clear under standing there there are different ways to
- 18:01Speaker 1: be successful because a lot of people say I want
- 18:03Speaker 1: to be like this person, I want to be like
- 18:05Speaker 1: this person, and you're gonna use and that's you can't.
- 18:07Speaker 1: You can't. You can only be you because God has
- 18:10Speaker 1: individualized us, uh with separate talents. And we all can't dunk,
- 18:15Speaker 1: we all can't think fast, we all can't um. We
- 18:18Speaker 1: walked down a runway, it looked like a fashion model.
- 18:20Speaker 1: But we can be successful if we have a plan
- 18:23Speaker 1: for success, which is the basis of money making conversation,
- 18:26Speaker 1: Because you're successful, can we go back a little bit
- 18:29Speaker 1: before you got into the magazine business, give it a
- 18:32Speaker 1: little more, Give me a little history of of you
- 18:34Speaker 1: prior to your start. How did you how because you're motivated,
- 18:38Speaker 1: you're innovating your mentor you got foundations. How did all
- 18:41Speaker 1: this stought? Well, you know, I've involved, I've evolved into
- 18:45Speaker 1: Kimberly Chapman, and I evolved every day. So I tell people,
- 18:48Speaker 1: you don't ever want to be grown, um, and you
- 18:50Speaker 1: always want to be green, because that's that's living. UM.
- 18:54Speaker 1: I told somebody one day that I hadn't I wasn't
- 18:56Speaker 1: grown yet, and they said, oh, I feel sorry for you,
- 18:58Speaker 1: and I just looked at it like when you've wrong,
- 19:00Speaker 1: that means you at the end. I always try to
- 19:04Speaker 1: take that that perspective every day. But I went to
- 19:08Speaker 1: UM school and studied psychology, and of course you use
- 19:11Speaker 1: it every day. UM. But I married Bill Chapman in
- 19:14Speaker 1: nineteen ninety or I can't remember, it's been a while,
- 19:21Speaker 1: he um. And then that's different for a woman, right
- 19:23Speaker 1: we normally Yeah, well I got a lot to remember.
- 19:29Speaker 1: But anyway, I married him and he already had the
- 19:32Speaker 1: product because that's his part. He's the MANU. He's the
- 19:36Speaker 1: developer of our products, which in my road became Congo Carolthina,
- 19:40Speaker 1: and um, of course I made it better. I came
- 19:43Speaker 1: into the administrated hire and fire, and you know, I
- 19:47Speaker 1: have a lot of ideas, so we brought that together.
- 19:49Speaker 1: We're we're a team and we understand each other's weaknesses
- 19:53Speaker 1: and strength and were worked on that. And in doing that,
- 19:57Speaker 1: I wanted to advertise the the products, so I went
- 20:01Speaker 1: to some magazines. And the magazines to me, cost too
- 20:05Speaker 1: much because you can become a bit conglomerate and forget
- 20:09Speaker 1: about the people that are starting. And that's what I
- 20:12Speaker 1: felt that these magazines had done. I understand you have
- 20:14Speaker 1: to pay the bills, being that I'm in the magazine
- 20:17Speaker 1: business now, but you have to give people chances. So
- 20:21Speaker 1: that's what caused me to um start seeing magazine and
- 20:24Speaker 1: it's been doing well. Um And I try to remember,
- 20:28Speaker 1: I do remember that backbone, the is regular people, people
- 20:34Speaker 1: who are out there doing it every day. So I
- 20:37Speaker 1: try to not ever forget that, nor do I allow
- 20:40Speaker 1: my um My, I don't like the I really don't
- 20:44Speaker 1: like the word employees because, um, when you start a business,
- 20:48Speaker 1: you bring other people in because they are part of
- 20:51Speaker 1: the vision and the creativity also, so I take on
- 20:56Speaker 1: the monetary um part of having having a business, but
- 21:00Speaker 1: they're part of the business. So the people that work
- 21:03Speaker 1: with me UM helped me to increase my magazine and
- 21:08Speaker 1: of course the products. UM and I have two children
- 21:11Speaker 1: and they are in the business with me. My son
- 21:15Speaker 1: a little more than my daughter. UM Tony Williams, my
- 21:19Speaker 1: daughter right now is increasing her family. So she's doing
- 21:26Speaker 1: a good job that to UM. But yeah, it's a
- 21:29Speaker 1: day to day basis that we're on every day. And
- 21:33Speaker 1: UM we also have they a nonprofit Chapman Found. Before
- 21:38Speaker 1: we get to that, Before we get to that, we
- 21:40Speaker 1: go I want to go back to the magazine. She
- 21:41Speaker 1: magazine because because because of the digital era, they are
- 21:46Speaker 1: social media era. You know when you started the magazine,
- 21:50Speaker 1: print was was the was the news stands and all that.
- 21:54Speaker 1: How has that changed your philosophy and how you update uh,
- 21:58Speaker 1: your magazine because online and you know, you have to
- 22:00Speaker 1: date it more constantly. It's because I'm assuming is she
- 22:03Speaker 1: in a monthly magazine or quarterly magazine or what is it?
- 22:07Speaker 1: It's every other month, every other month, but online it's
- 22:11Speaker 1: updated more correct. We update it online every day. I
- 22:16Speaker 1: have some great office that come in. I have writers
- 22:19Speaker 1: all over the world, UM that send in information. But yes,
- 22:23Speaker 1: we update our website every day. Let's talk about the
- 22:26Speaker 1: Kimmy Awards, which I'm sure it's short for your first name. Okay,
- 22:31Speaker 1: Kimmy Awards. What is sponsored by SHE Magazine? What exactly
- 22:34Speaker 1: is the Kimmy Award? That's k I M M I
- 22:37Speaker 1: E Awards? All right, we get we started that UM
- 22:41Speaker 1: so that we could give awards to people that we
- 22:44Speaker 1: deemed necessary in the beauty industries, UM, hair industry, the
- 22:50Speaker 1: mad communications industry. So we will UM go in, find people,
- 22:55Speaker 1: have people nominate people. Then we will decide on whether
- 22:59Speaker 1: you know who it is that you should give the
- 23:00Speaker 1: awards to. But that's normally around my birthday April the
- 23:03Speaker 1: twenty six. This year, it will be made for her
- 23:06Speaker 1: filth I believe the weekend of the fourth in the field,
- 23:09Speaker 1: um and it'll be one day and it will be
- 23:10Speaker 1: an Atlanta at the Sheraton. Okay, so it's an actual production. Yah.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Who's hosting it? Seen magazine is hosting it. I'm talking
- 23:22Speaker 1: about talking about because somebody's hosting the advent, you know,
- 23:25Speaker 1: bringing up the pride to distributing the awards. Correct, Yeah,
- 23:30Speaker 1: we will see magazine will Okay, So so you'll be
- 23:33Speaker 1: on stage at night that day or night. Yeah, okay, cool,
- 23:37Speaker 1: that's all I'm asking. I wonder I'm I'm trying to
- 23:39Speaker 1: figure out who out there are saying welcome to Jimmy
- 23:42Speaker 1: Awards me, and you know what, I answer questions for
- 23:47Speaker 1: my people that work with me, and then I moved
- 23:50Speaker 1: to the next thing. So that would be a question
- 23:53Speaker 1: that I don't completely no, but I would be on
- 23:55Speaker 1: the on the stage too, But I'm sure that there
- 23:57Speaker 1: will be someone else I can't. I'm telling something. Ms Chapman,
- 24:01Speaker 1: You're coming back on my show. Don't even worry about that.
- 24:04Speaker 1: So well information you didn't deliver this time, you're coming back.
- 24:07Speaker 1: I see why it was so difficult to get you
- 24:08Speaker 1: on this show. You got a lot going on. You
- 24:12Speaker 1: got a lot going on. I'm not I believe me.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of what you're doing. Also the
- 24:17Speaker 1: hpc U. I love the way you're grassroot and everything.
- 24:19Speaker 1: So anything I can do with my social media is
- 24:22Speaker 1: sevent my social media followers or female because I do
- 24:25Speaker 1: a lot of baking, so so I would like I
- 24:28Speaker 1: got almost a million social media follows, seven hundred forty
- 24:31Speaker 1: thousand on Facebook. So any time you want to send
- 24:34Speaker 1: me a video or a link. I have my staff
- 24:36Speaker 1: good with your staff, so I continue to grow the
- 24:38Speaker 1: brand of Sheen from my grassroom perspective. It's that all right,
- 24:43Speaker 1: that's absolutely wonderful. Thank you, miss mc donal. I'll appreciate that. Well.
- 24:47Speaker 1: We will be back on my show. Correct, Yes, I will,
- 24:50Speaker 1: no doubt about it. Okay, we know April. We've got
- 24:52Speaker 1: a bigger show coming in to Shared and uh in Atlanta, Georgia.

- 28:22Speaker 1: business owner, motivational speaker, and football analysts. I liked all
- 28:28Speaker 1: three of those right there. Business owner, motivational speaker, and
- 28:31Speaker 1: football analysts. All that's all. I love all that. As
- 28:34Speaker 1: a business owner, he oversees launch trampoline park in a
- 28:38Speaker 1: dept foot, New Jersey. The park has a Ninja obstacle course,
- 28:44Speaker 1: rock climbing, indoor playground, trampoline activities, laser tag and active
- 28:50Speaker 1: arcade games. He plans to open multiple parks throughout the
- 28:53Speaker 1: Philadelphia area and launch Launch Dr Raine. Launch called Launch
- 28:58Speaker 1: dr Raine New Jersey is currently under construction. Please working
- 29:02Speaker 1: to money making conversation. I'm gonna call him a friend.
- 29:05Speaker 1: He's a motivational, he's a business owner and guess what,
- 29:08Speaker 1: he's a football analyist. Jason Navan, you're a sign. How
- 29:13Speaker 1: you doing? But has everything going well? First of all,
- 29:15Speaker 1: you know you are you know you you've been out
- 29:18Speaker 1: in ten years. Man. I would tell people about this
- 29:21Speaker 1: about about football players, professional professional football players. That's something
- 29:26Speaker 1: I cannot do. Man. I look at y'all, man, I go,
- 29:30Speaker 1: here's here's here's the deal. You running in one direction?
- 29:33Speaker 1: Did somebody say, I guess what, I'm gonna run the
- 29:36Speaker 1: same option direction just as fast at you. And you yeah,
- 29:41Speaker 1: and then but then you're gonna slow down though, really
- 29:44Speaker 1: really know you've learned, You've learned a sign over over
- 29:50Speaker 1: the years that that that that flight, that that fear,
- 29:53Speaker 1: that fear thinking your brain there that that that kind
- 29:56Speaker 1: of says you to run. You kind of see he
- 29:58Speaker 1: that part and you just keep on full speed. It's
- 30:00Speaker 1: just it's a trained behavior over over a period of time.
- 30:04Speaker 1: You just uh that type of fear that doesn't bother
- 30:06Speaker 1: you anymore. And that's a blessing though, because of the
- 30:09Speaker 1: fact that you know you take that same fear or
- 30:13Speaker 1: lack of fear and to you and you turned it
- 30:16Speaker 1: into your known football playing life. Correct, Yes, yes, yep,
- 30:22Speaker 1: so um I what happened was is that I'm right
- 30:25Speaker 1: around my seventh year, no six year. Um, I'm sitting
- 30:29Speaker 1: in the locker room, and before you know it, like
- 30:32Speaker 1: a lot of my friends are just like leaving, like
- 30:34Speaker 1: left going right. I've seen Dimes and McNab um get released,
- 30:38Speaker 1: Brian Dawkins, a bunch of guys that are that are
- 30:41Speaker 1: being a Hall of Fame one day and I'm looking
- 30:43Speaker 1: around like, man, I don't know any of these guys.
- 30:45Speaker 1: My locker made change in every two days because that's
- 30:48Speaker 1: the nature of the beast. The average careers like two
- 30:50Speaker 1: and a half years. So um guys are in and
- 30:53Speaker 1: out of the locker room. I said, you know what
- 30:55Speaker 1: football means, Nation Football League, not for loan. So I
- 30:58Speaker 1: gotta get get this team, get the thing together. And
- 31:01Speaker 1: um I went back to University of Michigan. UM took
- 31:03Speaker 1: um UH boot camps. UM they're about UM franchising and
- 31:08Speaker 1: also startups and UH and and and continue my education there.
- 31:13Speaker 1: And before you know it, I began to look into
- 31:15Speaker 1: family entertainment centers. And while I was playing, I didn't
- 31:19Speaker 1: wait till I was done. While I was playing in
- 31:20Speaker 1: the off season, I was just going shadow the general manager,
- 31:23Speaker 1: figure out how to do scheduling, figure out how to
- 31:25Speaker 1: work birthday parties, figure out how to do inventory, different
- 31:28Speaker 1: things like that, just to broaden my understanding of the business.
- 31:31Speaker 1: And before you know it, I begin to like fall
- 31:33Speaker 1: in love with being around the kids, and also that
- 31:37Speaker 1: the idea of bringing entertaining fitness to kids something that
- 31:41Speaker 1: will not only, um, you know, help you to make money,
- 31:45Speaker 1: but it's actually a value there because kids are so
- 31:48Speaker 1: inundated with social media, video games and everything else and
- 31:51Speaker 1: they don't get a chance to go outside like we did.
- 31:54Speaker 1: So I could bring activity to them in a fun
- 31:57Speaker 1: manner in a safe place with the trampoline like and
- 32:00Speaker 1: I thought that was a great business move for me
- 32:03Speaker 1: personally wanting to be around kids, but also um a
- 32:06Speaker 1: chance to further um myself as a person um with
- 32:11Speaker 1: opening up a business. Now when I hear this description,
- 32:14Speaker 1: am I assuming that it's indoors? Yeah? Yeah, so so
- 32:18Speaker 1: basically yeah, so it's it's an indoor so we do
- 32:21Speaker 1: it's indoor family entertainment. So, um, it's indoor. We have
- 32:25Speaker 1: thirty five thou square foots of of indoor spaces and
- 32:28Speaker 1: a retail shopping center right next to hobby lobby, right
- 32:31Speaker 1: next to olive guard those things. So it's it's basically
- 32:34Speaker 1: David Busters but active. So we do a little bit
- 32:38Speaker 1: of arcades. We do laser tag for people that may
- 32:41Speaker 1: not have the ability to be active. But you have
- 32:43Speaker 1: water wall, trampolines, you can do American Ninja Warrior, you
- 32:46Speaker 1: can do rock climbing. You can do a bunch of
- 32:48Speaker 1: things that will um keep you in shape and kids,
- 32:54Speaker 1: um won't even know that they're working out because they're
- 32:56Speaker 1: having so much fun. We do uh dunking on on
- 33:00Speaker 1: basketball goes off trampolines. We do dodgeball like we had
- 33:04Speaker 1: in grade school, but it's but it's on trampoline, so
- 33:06Speaker 1: it's a fun experience for kids. Now here's the great
- 33:09Speaker 1: part about it, because you went through, you went to
- 33:11Speaker 1: uh Michigan. Got the number one thing they say about
- 33:16Speaker 1: opening the business parking. You gotta have a parking space
- 33:20Speaker 1: and you gotta put yourself in a position where where
- 33:23Speaker 1: what traffic sees you that you're not paying for. So
- 33:26Speaker 1: when I hear you can talk about that, tell my
- 33:29Speaker 1: AUTI is why that's so important? Oh yeah, you want
- 33:33Speaker 1: to be visible. So that's the thing, like and you
- 33:35Speaker 1: want to our Our business is a destination business. A
- 33:39Speaker 1: lot of people are looking for family or kids activities.
- 33:44Speaker 1: But you never know how many people are going past,
- 33:48Speaker 1: you know, olive garden on the weekend. Like we have
- 33:50Speaker 1: the number two olive garden in the country, So we
- 33:52Speaker 1: just have a lot of eyes on our there people Oh,
- 33:56Speaker 1: I didn't know that was there, um and and or
- 33:59Speaker 1: they're going to Berlin and co fact and say, oh,
- 34:01Speaker 1: what's that place at the end of the corner. So
- 34:02Speaker 1: you want to be seen because that traffic is just
- 34:05Speaker 1: automatic marketing for you. And and before you know that
- 34:08Speaker 1: someone pops in your door, they ask for information. Before
- 34:11Speaker 1: you know you have a birthday party, pick um. And
- 34:13Speaker 1: in our business, parking is key because it's like you
- 34:17Speaker 1: and and it and it's in most it's in most towns,
- 34:20Speaker 1: um you know uh laws and and and in their
- 34:23Speaker 1: zoning that you have to have a certain amount of
- 34:25Speaker 1: parking spaces per um. The size of your business. So um,
- 34:29Speaker 1: you want to have people to have direct access to
- 34:31Speaker 1: your business because you don't want them to go to
- 34:33Speaker 1: a competitor. Because in a more convenient spot and um,
- 34:37Speaker 1: and and and being in the retail shop center is
- 34:40Speaker 1: ideal for us moms feel safe for dropping their kids
- 34:43Speaker 1: off rather than the industrial park or somewhere else. That's
- 34:46Speaker 1: that's not on a on the beaten I mean that's
- 34:49Speaker 1: off the beaten uh trail. That's important that I'm talking to.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Jason Vaant he played ten years in the NFL, and
- 34:56Speaker 1: about that six year he realized that he need they
- 35:00Speaker 1: have a plan, an exit plan for him, and and
- 35:02Speaker 1: and doing so, he uh we educated himself, extended his
- 35:08Speaker 1: education before pass what he knew it wasn't about having
- 35:11Speaker 1: money in the bank. It's about what do I do
- 35:14Speaker 1: when I retire? And then doing so he's launched. I'd
- 35:17Speaker 1: like to say that it's very kid friendly physically fun. Yeah, exactly,
- 35:24Speaker 1: so yep. And and that's the thing, like you like.
- 35:28Speaker 1: The thing about it is money. Money has wings and
- 35:32Speaker 1: then it'll flyaway fast. Right. So if you're just no
- 35:35Speaker 1: matter how much money you accumulate, if you don't have
- 35:37Speaker 1: a plan on how to make more money and or
- 35:41Speaker 1: preserve the money that you have. It will be going
- 35:44Speaker 1: like that. And I knew that God blessed me with
- 35:47Speaker 1: the gift and ability and a lot of hard work
- 35:50Speaker 1: in order to make it to the National Football League.
- 35:52Speaker 1: But I didn't I didn't want that to be the
- 35:54Speaker 1: end for me. And and I'm always reaching, I'm always
- 35:57Speaker 1: trying to attain. I'm always trying to get better there.
- 36:00Speaker 1: And I thought that one of the things that I
- 36:02Speaker 1: can do in order to get better is to put
- 36:04Speaker 1: my money to good use and first of all, educate
- 36:07Speaker 1: myself working in the parks. Go back to school. Um,
- 36:11Speaker 1: I graduated from University of Missican, Uh, you know, before
- 36:14Speaker 1: I played in the NFL. But I wanted to work
- 36:17Speaker 1: in the park to see if I liked it. And
- 36:19Speaker 1: that was the biggest thing. I just didn't do something.
- 36:21Speaker 1: I went to see if I liked it first, And
- 36:23Speaker 1: when I found out that I really liked it and
- 36:25Speaker 1: loved it, that's when I started to really pursue it. Now,
- 36:29Speaker 1: let's go back to your your your your business, because
- 36:34Speaker 1: because I love the whole thing about being an entrepreneur,
- 36:40Speaker 1: you know, you know, I always tell people work in
- 36:42Speaker 1: a normal jar always really prepared you for being an entrepreneur.
- 36:46Speaker 1: They teaching to a discipline and being on time. They're
- 36:49Speaker 1: teaching your rules, they're teaching you how to work with
- 36:52Speaker 1: other people. And a lot of people don't understand that
- 36:55Speaker 1: you talked about okay, I didn't know that, so you
- 36:57Speaker 1: shadowed people who had been so you you you, you
- 37:02Speaker 1: do a lot of man, I want people to really
- 37:05Speaker 1: hear your story because you casually talk about these things.
- 37:08Speaker 1: But you're doing all the important little things that make
- 37:13Speaker 1: people success. If you don't know, you gonna hang out
- 37:15Speaker 1: around people who do know. If you feel you need
- 37:17Speaker 1: to be educated, you break up. You said inside of
- 37:20Speaker 1: town to be re educated. You don't mind reinventing yourself.
- 37:23Speaker 1: You don't mind letting people think that ignore the fact
- 37:27Speaker 1: that I don't have a flaw. I just want to
- 37:29Speaker 1: get better. And a lot of people use excuses to
- 37:32Speaker 1: educate themselves and reintervent themselves as a sign of failure.
- 37:36Speaker 1: You just say, hey, man, I gotta do what I
- 37:38Speaker 1: gotta do to get to my dreams, and my dreams
- 37:40Speaker 1: are tied to me. Uh, shadowing people who know more
- 37:44Speaker 1: than me, by educating myself more, by a lot of
- 37:48Speaker 1: people being in business with people who assist me and
- 37:51Speaker 1: allow me to be successful. All those points are very important.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Plus you even more smarter as you you you you
- 37:59Speaker 1: tell us even more of a because you stay on
- 38:01Speaker 1: the air in the Philadelphia. Yeah. Yeah, so and and
- 38:07Speaker 1: I and I appreciate and I appreciate that, and and
- 38:09Speaker 1: the thing and the thing about it is is that
- 38:11Speaker 1: and that comes from God. I can't do anything about that.
- 38:13Speaker 1: That's me and my relationship with God. We're trying to
- 38:15Speaker 1: be humble and trying my best to be because the
- 38:18Speaker 1: thing about it is, no matter what field you are
- 38:21Speaker 1: you're in, if you're switching fields or you're trying to
- 38:24Speaker 1: reinvent yourself, the biggest the biggest mistake you can make
- 38:28Speaker 1: is I know right, I know it already. And this
- 38:31Speaker 1: is this generation at times, is that I know everything before,
- 38:35Speaker 1: like I don't know anything. But I didn't know anything
- 38:37Speaker 1: about family entertainment. I thought I knew. I thought I
- 38:39Speaker 1: can recognize the business and and and oh it can
- 38:42Speaker 1: be successful here. But I didn't know the nuances of it.
- 38:45Speaker 1: I didn't know payroll, I didn't know scheduling. I didn't
- 38:48Speaker 1: know um Ocean standards for employees. I didn't know any
- 38:51Speaker 1: of this information. And that's the that was the place
- 38:55Speaker 1: that I found out that that it would be more
- 38:58Speaker 1: successful if I would if I would acknowledge the fact
- 39:01Speaker 1: that I didn't know. So when I came in to
- 39:04Speaker 1: a person that had a business, I came in with
- 39:07Speaker 1: that approach, Hey, you know my name is Jason or
- 39:10Speaker 1: what have you? And uh and and you don't you
- 39:14Speaker 1: don't know who I am maybe or maybe you know
- 39:17Speaker 1: me from the Eagles, but can you give me an
- 39:19Speaker 1: opportunity to shout at you and learn what you know?
- 39:21Speaker 1: And that approach got me in more doors than me
- 39:24Speaker 1: coming in with the brazen attitude of arrogance. I love that.
- 39:30Speaker 1: I know we got a few minutes left, but I
- 39:31Speaker 1: got to go back to the these these kid birthday parties,
- 39:35Speaker 1: these large amounts of kids, how do you hand how
- 39:38Speaker 1: does your business handle that? And when it when it's
- 39:41Speaker 1: thirty forty kids they're coming in, how did it? Because
- 39:44Speaker 1: you know it has to be a degree of security
- 39:46Speaker 1: to make sure that the kid doesn't get walk out
- 39:48Speaker 1: the front door with some crazy person and make sure
- 39:50Speaker 1: that the kids stays in the How does that whole
- 39:52Speaker 1: set up work for you at your facility? Well, yeah,
- 39:55Speaker 1: so we have so so thirty or forty, we were like, yeah,
- 39:59Speaker 1: so we we have we have up to so in
- 40:02Speaker 1: our on our p LS system, it's a jump tracker,
- 40:04Speaker 1: So on our jump tracker, we can have up to
- 40:06Speaker 1: two hundred jumpers and out. Okay, and on that jump tracker,
- 40:09Speaker 1: every time someone purchases a ticket, it gets subtractive from
- 40:13Speaker 1: that jump tracker. So we're able to limit how many
- 40:17Speaker 1: people are in the building. And we understand because we
- 40:19Speaker 1: give them wristbands, and we give their parents wristbands that
- 40:22Speaker 1: are coinciding with their kids to recognize, okay, which kid
- 40:25Speaker 1: is with who UM. So that's how that process goes.
- 40:30Speaker 1: And also we have people at our front door. We
- 40:32Speaker 1: have a bunch of different measures to try to keep
- 40:35Speaker 1: the kids safe, UM but and also to keep them
- 40:38Speaker 1: safe on the trampolines because if a kid isn't doing
- 40:41Speaker 1: the right things at the wrong time, you can get
- 40:43Speaker 1: hurt because there's so many people in your business and
- 40:45Speaker 1: you in your in your building. So we're trying to
- 40:48Speaker 1: shovel them through, UM but within reasons. So we have
- 40:51Speaker 1: different courts UM set up in different court monitors there
- 40:55Speaker 1: to to watch it and UM. But it's all set
- 40:58Speaker 1: up in our PLS system. It's really not that hard
- 41:01Speaker 1: to recognize who's in there, who's in the building, and
- 41:03Speaker 1: we also have security. We also have our staff there
- 41:06Speaker 1: as well. Oh man, let everybody know how they can
- 41:09Speaker 1: reach your place. Find it on the website so we can. Uh.
- 41:12Speaker 1: And plus I'm gonna get some banners. I do this
- 41:14Speaker 1: feature call on my social media called Entrepreneur the Week.
- 41:18Speaker 1: I want to feat you your business and you and
- 41:20Speaker 1: making a click through to your website just spread the world.

- 44:26Speaker 1: I love this lady, because I'm I gotta, I gotta
- 44:31Speaker 1: bring up. Let me introduce everybody to tell everybody who
- 44:33Speaker 1: I love. Okay, my neck guest is a celebrity chef
- 44:37Speaker 1: bam My morning talk show, hosts on Food Networks, the
- 44:41Speaker 1: kitchen author of Sonny's Kitchen Hand Hand Easy Food for
- 44:45Speaker 1: Real Life, and an entrepreneur. Because we're gonna talk about
- 44:47Speaker 1: this in inflatium, please welcome to Money Making Conversation Sonny Anderson.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Thank good morning. Thanks for having me. Hey, that was
- 44:56Speaker 1: a nice introduction. Okay, I'm busy. First of all, you'll
- 45:01Speaker 1: you're all you're special because I watch your TV. To
- 45:04Speaker 1: take all this stuff. It's almost um when I see
- 45:07Speaker 1: you on TV. I'm jealous because she's so natural on TV.
- 45:11Speaker 1: You know, you're you know, you know, it's like it's
- 45:13Speaker 1: like it's like watching the person who's I don't care
- 45:16Speaker 1: if I see you on any TV show where she's
- 45:18Speaker 1: making food. It's almost like I'm watching you in your
- 45:20Speaker 1: kitchen at the house, hanging out with your mom, your
- 45:24Speaker 1: best friend, your cousin, the nieces and nephews. There's a
- 45:28Speaker 1: skill set that you have, Sonny, I admire for you,
- 45:32Speaker 1: and I'm jealous. Well listen, I'm that is a huge
- 45:39Speaker 1: compliment because I feel like, you know, when I watched
- 45:42Speaker 1: TV and I have my favorites, they feel like people
- 45:46Speaker 1: that I'm just hanging out with maybe I want to
- 45:48Speaker 1: go get a beer with or you know, just like
- 45:51Speaker 1: be cool with. Um. So it's cool that I give
- 45:54Speaker 1: that vibe off. But I'm always tell people and they
- 45:57Speaker 1: say they love to hang out with me. I am
- 45:59Speaker 1: so boring, Like the best name for me are um.
- 46:05Speaker 1: You know, like no shower, no errands, no nothing. I
- 46:08Speaker 1: just sitting you know, watch TV or cook and hang
- 46:12Speaker 1: out with the dogs and the cats. Now what what
- 46:14Speaker 1: do you just? Where are you based at? So? I
- 46:18Speaker 1: live in New Jersey now, um and for since two
- 46:22Speaker 1: thousand one. Um, up until about two years ago, I
- 46:25Speaker 1: lived in New York and in Brooklyn. So I'm just
- 46:28Speaker 1: kind of like New York adjacent now and loving it absolutely.
- 46:31Speaker 1: There's nothing wrong with living in New Jersey and community.
- 46:35Speaker 1: It's awesome. Now, then here's the thing about your talents.
- 46:38Speaker 1: And then we're going to talk about this, uh this
- 46:41Speaker 1: nacho that I'm gonna make for my Super Bowl, We're
- 46:44Speaker 1: gonna talk about that. We gonna talk about them, gonna
- 46:46Speaker 1: talk about all this thing. But I just want to
- 46:47Speaker 1: talk about Sunny right now. You know the radio DJ Sonny,
- 46:51Speaker 1: the Air Force Sonny. You know this background, and I
- 46:54Speaker 1: knew nothing about. They like to bring up, bring up
- 46:57Speaker 1: on the show. As if I give everybody two breaks,
- 46:58Speaker 1: I want to learn a little bit about a person.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Uh let them know that you just just pop up
- 47:03Speaker 1: and suddenly start cooking on national TV. There's a journey
- 47:06Speaker 1: to that, So tell us a little history about the
- 47:08Speaker 1: Air Force or transitioning from from radio all the way
- 47:12Speaker 1: to catering and then then the celebrity chef status. Yeah, so,
- 47:17Speaker 1: I mean, I think you're right, there's a journey, um
- 47:20Speaker 1: to wherever we are in the present, especially if it's
- 47:23Speaker 1: a present and I feel like I'm living in a
- 47:24Speaker 1: present every day. Um. I started right out of high
- 47:28Speaker 1: school in the Air Force because I wanted to be
- 47:30Speaker 1: in broadcasting in journalism because it was what I was
- 47:33Speaker 1: focused on in high school. Uh. And so when I
- 47:36Speaker 1: got into the Air Force, trained for that and became
- 47:40Speaker 1: a broadcaster journalist in the Air Force, and very simply,
- 47:43Speaker 1: you know, knew that I wanted to do more. When
- 47:45Speaker 1: I got out as the military after four years, Um,
- 47:48Speaker 1: I just continued in radio. And you know, um, you
- 47:52Speaker 1: can't do anything unless you're ready to move or you're
- 47:55Speaker 1: lucky enough. Um, you know, you're at what we call
- 47:59Speaker 1: it a heron sits job where you're from the city
- 48:01Speaker 1: and you get to kind of really grow your roots
- 48:03Speaker 1: in that city and become major. So not being from
- 48:06Speaker 1: anywhere as a military brad, my choice was to move
- 48:09Speaker 1: around get my resume up so I could get to
- 48:11Speaker 1: New York, and I thankfully did in two thousand one. So, um,
- 48:16Speaker 1: you know I got here, I was doing what I
- 48:18Speaker 1: was always doing in other cities and other places I lived,
- 48:21Speaker 1: which is, you know, eating and feeding myself. And um,
- 48:25Speaker 1: you know, as a single person, you bring that food
- 48:27Speaker 1: to work, the leftovers, whether it's cookies or if it's
- 48:30Speaker 1: the other half of the meat loaf. And I just
- 48:33Speaker 1: started finding that that was my calling card. You know,
- 48:35Speaker 1: people expected me to show up with food, and um,
- 48:39Speaker 1: that really just um, you know, snowballed into a catering
- 48:43Speaker 1: business because so many people kept asking and um after
- 48:47Speaker 1: I was charging for just the groceries, and I thought
- 48:49Speaker 1: people would stop asking because I charged them for the food. Um,
- 48:53Speaker 1: you know, it just got to the point where people said, oh,
- 48:56Speaker 1: there's a price for this sure, And so I turned
- 48:58Speaker 1: it into a carrying something. Talked about it on my
- 49:01Speaker 1: radio show when I was on Radio New York, and
- 49:04Speaker 1: that's how Food Network found me through m Oral Laghassi. So, um,
- 49:09Speaker 1: you know a lot of like choices and trials and
- 49:12Speaker 1: tribulations and journeys in between you know there and here. Um,
- 49:16Speaker 1: and I would argue that there's still another here to
- 49:19Speaker 1: get to and I'm there right now. So I think
- 49:23Speaker 1: it's always like a journey of chasing goals and dreams
- 49:26Speaker 1: and um, hopefully they pan out, and if they don't,
- 49:29Speaker 1: you have a couple more ideas on the back burner.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Well it's fantastic and you're on my show talking about
- 49:34Speaker 1: it at the perfect time. So we got got a
- 49:37Speaker 1: busy marketing week Sunday Anderson Marketing Week is on starting today.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Rushan is getting busy. I'm launching it. I'm launching her
- 49:48Speaker 1: campaign today on Monday. Making conversation. But before I'll be remissed,
- 49:52Speaker 1: I got a couple of minutes left in our interview.
- 49:54Speaker 1: Here the kitchen. This is the show again. This is
- 49:57Speaker 1: where a lot of talented people on the show, and
- 49:59Speaker 1: when they have Sunny starts talking. I think she's talking
- 50:02Speaker 1: to me. Really, she's talking to me. She's sampling those
- 50:05Speaker 1: little dessert and just making these things. What makes that
- 50:09Speaker 1: show work for you? Well, I think you know what
- 50:13Speaker 1: you described. I think I called you know, pick your
- 50:15Speaker 1: Pony television. We've got four dynamic uh co host We're
- 50:20Speaker 1: all from different places. We all grew up with different flavors, vibestyles, languages, etcetera. Uh,
- 50:26Speaker 1: the norm is different for each of us. And so
- 50:28Speaker 1: I like the idea that someone might watch and think
- 50:31Speaker 1: I am so annoying, but then just love my girl
- 50:35Speaker 1: Katie or Jeff or gee Z and vice versa. You
- 50:38Speaker 1: know someone that might watch me and say I can
- 50:40Speaker 1: only pattage. Oh you, everything you're saying makes sense to
- 50:43Speaker 1: what I you know. I know that's because maybe we
- 50:45Speaker 1: have some of the same things in our our nurture,
- 50:49Speaker 1: you know, and our nature. So it's really cool to
- 50:52Speaker 1: be on a show where a lot of different vibes
- 50:54Speaker 1: are represented, and I think that's what makes it work most.
- 50:57Speaker 1: We really do love eating it. We love cooking. But
- 51:01Speaker 1: you know, I tell people all the time, my job,
- 51:04Speaker 1: my career isn't to be a shepherd cook. I actually
- 51:07Speaker 1: eat more than I cook because I get to sit
- 51:10Speaker 1: on these shows and eat all this awesome dude, So
- 51:12Speaker 1: I think that's what works. Plus, it's like, who wouldn't
- 51:15Speaker 1: want to eat food from different people? It's free, you
- 51:19Speaker 1: know who. I think watching someone living their best life
- 51:22Speaker 1: is pretty awesome and I like to watch that out
- 51:24Speaker 1: there in the world too. So I can imagine if
- 51:26Speaker 1: I'm living my best life man giving out and it's
- 51:29Speaker 1: awesome the people are watching that. I'm just telling you,
- 51:31Speaker 1: we've got to close this out with with an uplift
- 51:33Speaker 1: statement about how talent you are. Please please sitcom your
- 51:37Speaker 1: sitcom star. I know it, I believe in it. I
- 51:40Speaker 1: will I've I've discovered and worked with too many challenged people.
- 51:43Speaker 1: I got, I got busy, and my staff is gonna
- 51:45Speaker 1: be business all about Sunday this week to promote, the
- 51:48Speaker 1: inflate them, the touchdown, knock nachos, and your brand. You
- 51:51Speaker 1: keep winning. You can come on my show anytime Sunday, anytime.
- 51:55Speaker 1: I'm a fan, I'm a friend and a believer in
- 51:57Speaker 1: your talents. We'll be right back with more from mar
- 52:03Speaker 1: Sean McDonald the money making conversations. Don't touch that down.
- 52:07Speaker 1: It's your boy, ra Sean McDonald And like the rest
- 52:09Speaker 1: of us, I found out last night my wife loves
