- 2:29Speaker 1: twenty seventeen seventeen, then moved to Hulu in the fall
- 2:33Speaker 1: of twenty nineteen, and eventually landed at BT plus in
- 2:37Speaker 1: And now we all get to see and experienced this
- 2:39Speaker 1: incredibly talent of the young lady and amazing cast. By
- 2:42Speaker 1: the way, because you can't do this. She was a
- 2:44Speaker 1: stand up comic by herself. On this show. She got
- 2:47Speaker 1: some funny people. It's a new sitcom going back on
- 2:49Speaker 1: the road. We're gonna talk about that. We're gonna talk
- 2:51Speaker 1: about code, will talk about building your dream. Please work
- 2:55Speaker 1: on the money making conversations. Somebody that came into my
- 2:57Speaker 1: life via a newspaper article in twenty coming to you,
- 3:00Speaker 1: Patricia Williams Ak Miss pat How you doing? How are
- 3:05Speaker 1: you doing? Thank you for having me? Well? First of all,
- 3:07Speaker 1: did I said enough about you? Or or do it?
- 3:09Speaker 1: Couldn't I say some moments back that I think you
- 3:12Speaker 1: said enough about me? Well, first of all, let's get
- 3:15Speaker 1: started about why stand up? While are your stand up comedian? Um?
- 3:21Speaker 1: I know I thought I was funny. I never wanted
- 3:23Speaker 1: to be a stand up comedian. Uh people just in
- 3:26Speaker 1: my neighborhood. And then my life was like, you know,
- 3:28Speaker 1: you really just push you should really think about being
- 3:31Speaker 1: a comedian. A trip for the welfare offs and it
- 3:34Speaker 1: was like, you, you know, we had to pick careers.
- 3:36Speaker 1: I never forget Bill Clinton was a president and that
- 3:39Speaker 1: was the first person I voted for. He started a
- 3:41Speaker 1: welfare of work program. So I was trying to get
- 3:43Speaker 1: a career. No longer watching Young with Arrests, which pisces
- 3:48Speaker 1: me out because I was like, I don't even gonna
- 3:50Speaker 1: make me get a hound on the Young and Arrests. Well,
- 3:52Speaker 1: make a long story show a case work. Was like,
- 3:54Speaker 1: you should really, you know, looking to stand up. You're
- 3:58Speaker 1: so funny. And I'm like, I know, I want be
- 4:00Speaker 1: a nurse. He like, no, you should be. You should
- 4:02Speaker 1: look in the stand up. And then I realized I'm
- 4:04Speaker 1: a convicted felion and nobody was gonna ever give me
- 4:06Speaker 1: a job as a nurse. I just it just started.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I went to open mic. Uh huh, well you know
- 4:13Speaker 1: I'm being a former comedian. I guess I can always
- 4:15Speaker 1: say I'm a comedian. Okay, I've done enough in my life.
- 4:18Speaker 1: From Steph Comedy Jam to BT comic view that open mic,
- 4:22Speaker 1: just walking on that stage the very first time because
- 4:25Speaker 1: you because like you, people told me I was funny,
- 4:28Speaker 1: And then I had to be convinced by my sister
- 4:30Speaker 1: and Hunt and my nephew. I would do comedy routines
- 4:33Speaker 1: in front of them on their in their living room,
- 4:35Speaker 1: and they said, that's funny, that's funny. Should do that.
- 4:37Speaker 1: You do that? How did you put together your first
- 4:40Speaker 1: five minutes to go on stage? Miss Pat? I went
- 4:43Speaker 1: to this place that was near my house called the pub,
- 4:46Speaker 1: and it was just a bunch of open Michaels and
- 4:49Speaker 1: I didn't I didn't even know you're supposed to put
- 4:51Speaker 1: together anything. My literally, my first joke was about my
- 4:54Speaker 1: brother being a fat cat burgler. So I just went
- 4:56Speaker 1: and I just went and told a story that I
- 4:58Speaker 1: was familiar with. And I went there and they laughed,
- 5:03Speaker 1: and I was like. I went home and I told
- 5:04Speaker 1: my husband said, guess I'm a comedian. He's gonna work tomorrow. Now.
- 5:11Speaker 1: When when what year was that? When year was there
- 5:13Speaker 1: when you walked on stage? I think it was early
- 5:16Speaker 1: two thousand, two thousand one something like that. Well, we
- 5:20Speaker 1: know we all have dreams. I know when I started
- 5:22Speaker 1: doing stand up, Eddie Murphy was the talk of the land.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Richard Pryor with the King of Comedy, and then as
- 5:27Speaker 1: you see the evolved, you know, when I managed Steve
- 5:30Speaker 1: Harvey and two thousand the original Kings of Comedy came
- 5:33Speaker 1: out and Bernie Mack hit the streets and the Hittor
- 5:36Speaker 1: Street said came became a Super Bowl commercial star, and
- 5:40Speaker 1: Steve Harvey became a radio star, and it was a
- 5:42Speaker 1: television star at the time on w B. What influences
- 5:45Speaker 1: did you have this pat the story, Like you said,
- 5:48Speaker 1: you know, you still a naturally talented person. Did anybody
- 5:51Speaker 1: influence you as a comedian or an actress or a singer. No,
- 5:55Speaker 1: I didn't know anything about coming Honestly, Um, I thought
- 6:00Speaker 1: Richard Pryor was just, you know, actor, So I didn't.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I didn't really dig into comedy. And when I started
- 6:06Speaker 1: to open mic and people will say, you got these
- 6:09Speaker 1: crazy stories, and you you remind me of Richard Pryor,
- 6:12Speaker 1: you know, I'm like, he's an actor, and he was
- 6:14Speaker 1: like he was a comedian. So I just started to
- 6:16Speaker 1: do my research and I was like, I am a storyteller.
- 6:19Speaker 1: So I got heavily into watching Bill Cosby because he's
- 6:23Speaker 1: a great season's great storyteller. And I got into Richard Pryor,
- 6:27Speaker 1: and I realized that my stories were more like rich Richard,
- 6:32Speaker 1: you know, in your face, honestly, honest, and I like
- 6:36Speaker 1: to put them together the way Bill Cosby because they
- 6:38Speaker 1: were so great at storyteller. So those two is kind
- 6:41Speaker 1: of my biggest influence. You know, when I really dug
- 6:44Speaker 1: into I wanted to be a comedian. Well, you know,
- 6:47Speaker 1: it's interesting you say that, because, uh, you know, when
- 6:52Speaker 1: I see your stand up, it just it is the storytelling,
- 6:56Speaker 1: but it's the rawness of red Fox. Did I see it?
- 7:01Speaker 1: And in you? And I see it because of the
- 7:04Speaker 1: fact that you're just talking, you know what I'm saying,
- 7:07Speaker 1: And and I think that you know, he didn't hear
- 7:10Speaker 1: me out on this, because it's a compliment about you
- 7:12Speaker 1: and your talents. And it's that there's a filter and
- 7:16Speaker 1: I don't think you have with Okay, you don't have it.
- 7:23Speaker 1: She don't have a filter, this woman, I'm talking to
- 7:25Speaker 1: you right here. If it's if it's if it's in
- 7:28Speaker 1: front of her head, it's gonna come out of her mouth. Okay.
- 7:31Speaker 1: And that's a beauty because that's why she's on this show.
- 7:33Speaker 1: That's why she's a show and b that's why she's
- 7:35Speaker 1: successful stand up comedian. That's why she goes on her
- 7:38Speaker 1: name appears on the billboard, and add her shows sell out.
- 7:41Speaker 1: It's gonna be honest about that. So now Red Fox,
- 7:46Speaker 1: which was my era growing up, because he was an influence,
- 7:49Speaker 1: but he was just you know what, Like I said,
- 7:50Speaker 1: I was influenced by you know, I knew about Bill Cobley.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I was like over just in awe of Richard Pryor.
- 7:59Speaker 1: But you when I see Red Fox, I see this
- 8:02Speaker 1: uncanny ability to stay streaked and then but relatable because
- 8:07Speaker 1: it's about your personal life. Am I am I hitting
- 8:11Speaker 1: it right for you, miss pat because you didn't mention
- 8:13Speaker 1: Red Fox. Oh no, I think I didn't mention Red
- 8:19Speaker 1: Fox because I didn't fall a lot of this comedy.
- 8:22Speaker 1: You know, I just know Red Fox really from San
- 8:24Speaker 1: from this son, but I know how funny he was.
- 8:26Speaker 1: But I was able to find a lot more Richard
- 8:29Speaker 1: Prior material when I first started, and that was made me.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I really wanted to tell stories I've heard, I've heard Richard,
- 8:40Speaker 1: I've heard Red Fox before. I mean it's either either
- 8:43Speaker 1: I get Richard, burning met or red Fox. That's when
- 8:46Speaker 1: people come up and tell me it's finally here. The
- 8:49Speaker 1: season of celebration. And no matter how you celebrate with

- 10:43Speaker 1: I'm changing all that's complimentary, okay, when you talk about
- 10:46Speaker 1: what you're trying to do, because you know, like you said,
- 10:48Speaker 1: you didn't really have any history or anyone want to
- 10:51Speaker 1: be a stand up comedian on access for that matter.
- 10:53Speaker 1: You know you're as a person who unfortunately was a felon,
- 10:57Speaker 1: has spent you had had jail time like no different
- 11:00Speaker 1: than comedian Tim Allen who hosted Home Improvement. He had jailed.
- 11:04Speaker 1: He spent significant jail time and it also came over
- 11:07Speaker 1: and became a hit sitcom star. And the fact that
- 11:10Speaker 1: you say Sanford in sig And I was telling my
- 11:12Speaker 1: staff today when I came into myself, So I saw
- 11:14Speaker 1: four episodes of this show, and I said, it's very
- 11:17Speaker 1: groundbreaking to me. I said, I haven't seen a show,
- 11:20Speaker 1: especially a black show. There was this authentic sense Sanford
- 11:24Speaker 1: in sign and Sanford the song. Reason I said that's
- 11:26Speaker 1: after the Sun at the time would actually say the
- 11:29Speaker 1: N word on network television, and and and and because
- 11:32Speaker 1: that was that was rare. We're gonna keep it real
- 11:35Speaker 1: if you if you use it in the camera, you're
- 11:37Speaker 1: gonna use it no camera. And who asked you why?
- 11:40Speaker 1: Now we will be t plus. So you know there's
- 11:42Speaker 1: some cousin going on. Y'all y'all get y'all get as
- 11:45Speaker 1: they said, y'all get wild, y'all get wild. Plus y'all talking,
- 11:49Speaker 1: y'all talk and walk it. And that Tammy Roman. I'm
- 11:52Speaker 1: gonna tell you something, that girl right there, you got
- 11:56Speaker 1: a co star co stars right there, that young ladies,
- 11:58Speaker 1: funny child. I did not know that about Tammy Roman.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I want to know how y'all cast Tammy Roman, because
- 12:04Speaker 1: Tammy Roman is gonna be your stop this young lady
- 12:07Speaker 1: right now. I've seen four episodes, so don't tim. I
- 12:09Speaker 1: just saw the pilot. She's just funny, the pilot. I
- 12:12Speaker 1: saw the episode two, I saw episode three, I saw
- 12:15Speaker 1: episode far Your but it's funny, your husband but it's funny,
- 12:19Speaker 1: a little bit of boy's funny. And your daughter who
- 12:22Speaker 1: thinks you know everything funny, Your lazy, your son, your
- 12:26Speaker 1: daughter who comes in later because she because you just
- 12:28Speaker 1: kind of like this enfranchised to that whole episode is
- 12:32Speaker 1: very groundbreaking as far as the language from a gay
- 12:35Speaker 1: community standpoint, coming out of your mouth, being able to
- 12:38Speaker 1: say that and get away with it and then have
- 12:41Speaker 1: morality tied to it. And I'm just being me, what's
- 12:44Speaker 1: the problem. And I walked through and said, did she
- 12:46Speaker 1: say that? But I'm just saying all these things to
- 12:48Speaker 1: everybody who's watching and listen to this interview. We're talking
- 12:52Speaker 1: to the next next. The reason I say that I
- 12:55Speaker 1: can't say who she is, but I just know right
- 12:57Speaker 1: now I'm talking to a young lady right now that
- 13:00Speaker 1: I'm interview on money making. Conversation is not only brilliant,
- 13:03Speaker 1: but she's career defining in her path, and she's authentic
- 13:07Speaker 1: and she's original. That's who you are, Miss Prayer. I'm
- 13:09Speaker 1: not closing out. This interview might sound like an interview
- 13:11Speaker 1: close out. I'll just tell you. I'm just I just
- 13:13Speaker 1: gotta put out there earl in this conversation with people
- 13:15Speaker 1: listen to me because they know I tell the truth.
- 13:17Speaker 1: You special young lady. We talk about Tammy what It
- 13:23Speaker 1: was funny because this show was created with me at
- 13:25Speaker 1: a twenty three year old kid who had I was
- 13:27Speaker 1: in college at the time, never wrote anything but a
- 13:31Speaker 1: play that was at the Public in New York, and
- 13:34Speaker 1: that was my third writer. And Lee Dan He was like,
- 13:36Speaker 1: I'm gonna go to the street and find your writer
- 13:38Speaker 1: because I really think it's something here. So I said, okay,
- 13:42Speaker 1: Lee whatever. He found this kid on my birthday, flew
- 13:45Speaker 1: me out from wherever I was performing there and make
- 13:47Speaker 1: a long story short. I meet him and we get
- 13:50Speaker 1: to talking and you know, we create the pilot of
- 13:53Speaker 1: ourselves when they say we couldn't do it. And then
- 13:55Speaker 1: he get a job and he tells me because we
- 13:57Speaker 1: were really close. He's twenty three years old, and we
- 14:00Speaker 1: call him the Dreamer there. He was like, I know
- 14:02Speaker 1: who you're gonna be your husband, and I know who's
- 14:04Speaker 1: gonna be your sister. And so he pulled Tammy Roman
- 14:07Speaker 1: up in the bonnet chronic chronic that she does on Instagram,
- 14:11Speaker 1: and I was like, no, they're like crazy, She's not
- 14:13Speaker 1: gonna be my sister. He was like, I'm telling y'all
- 14:15Speaker 1: are so good. Y'all like Lucy Ethan and got and
- 14:18Speaker 1: I was like no and so and then and later
- 14:21Speaker 1: on I found out she was a reality star and
- 14:24Speaker 1: I was like, Blue, I don't want to reality star
- 14:26Speaker 1: on the show. I want real actors because this is
- 14:28Speaker 1: my first acting gig. He's like, no, Pat, just listen.
- 14:31Speaker 1: So we we we auditioned, we audition and I found
- 14:35Speaker 1: a girl that I thought I really like. So we
- 14:37Speaker 1: she had number one by her name and walked Tammy
- 14:40Speaker 1: Roman with the nail's pain that just just looked like
- 14:43Speaker 1: his character from top to talk and I didn't like her.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I did not like her. But baby, when she walked
- 14:48Speaker 1: out of that room and I looked at everybody's like
- 14:50Speaker 1: that go Denice. She came and she stold it. She
- 14:55Speaker 1: stole the job. I mean literally, she wouldn't hand her
- 14:58Speaker 1: anything because you know, because she had a name. Who
- 15:01Speaker 1: wasn't trying to get people an Instagram. We was trying
- 15:03Speaker 1: to get real actors. And when I tell you we're
- 15:05Speaker 1: actors and real actress, when I tell you, this girl
- 15:08Speaker 1: came into that room and stole that job, stole that job,
- 15:12Speaker 1: and the chemistry that we have on set is like unreal.
- 15:17Speaker 1: You know, it's like like you can the way the
- 15:20Speaker 1: way this the way this show was cast, you were like,
- 15:23Speaker 1: I almost believe this is a real family, from the
- 15:26Speaker 1: husband to all the kids. You know, we we we
- 15:28Speaker 1: didn't leave no stone unturned. And but she did a
- 15:33Speaker 1: wonderful job. And I'm so happy that people can see
- 15:36Speaker 1: another light of Tammy because there's like she's an actress.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I'm like, this girl can act behind and fun me,
- 15:44Speaker 1: I'm gonna telling you something because I know Tammy all
- 15:47Speaker 1: the way back to Steve Harvey sitcom on w B
- 15:49Speaker 1: that's when I first knew she could act. You know,
- 15:51Speaker 1: she did. She did a couple of cameos on His
- 15:53Speaker 1: Serious way back then. Then she went into this reality
- 15:55Speaker 1: star role. And so when I started reading the credits,
- 15:58Speaker 1: I go, Tammy wrong, and don't the stand up. They're
- 16:01Speaker 1: doing a comedy and the first scene that she comes
- 16:04Speaker 1: in and she just lays it out there go her timing,
- 16:08Speaker 1: and uh, it was, you know, acquire me. I'm just
- 16:10Speaker 1: gonna tell you what that means. They tried to acquire me,
- 16:13Speaker 1: you know, and h y'all look at the show, y'all.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Just look at the show, y'all find out what that means.
- 16:17Speaker 1: That that's a that's such a temple of who she is.
- 16:21Speaker 1: She's as they say. My mom will tell me she's shiftless,
- 16:24Speaker 1: she's lazy, she has no aspirations. But she got a sister,
- 16:27Speaker 1: and the sister got patience with her, and the family
- 16:30Speaker 1: got patience with her. She t she's a know it all.
- 16:33Speaker 1: But when you when you have a person like that
- 16:35Speaker 1: who comes in who you you didn't think it was
- 16:38Speaker 1: the one? Now, pat you didn't think there was on
- 16:41Speaker 1: your show, you know, ms Pad I want the actress
- 16:42Speaker 1: and I want people I've seen on TV. And it's
- 16:45Speaker 1: so funny because when I when I listened to this interview,
- 16:48Speaker 1: you didn't watch TV, you didn't watch movies, you didn't
- 16:51Speaker 1: know nothing about the history of stand up comedy. Sometimes
- 16:53Speaker 1: I figure out how you make a decision when somebody
- 16:56Speaker 1: she can't do the job, and you when you know
- 16:58Speaker 1: about four or five people on your hand in that's
- 17:00Speaker 1: all you know. I mean, I'm not I'm a comedian,
- 17:05Speaker 1: but I don't watch reality show. I'm more I'm an
- 17:08Speaker 1: age drug dealer. So I like gangster movies, you know,
- 17:10Speaker 1: like Knockos the Wire. I watched those. You have to
- 17:15Speaker 1: throw me off the boat, you know, I don't watch
- 17:17Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. So you're knocking, you're knocking reality.
- 17:21Speaker 1: So you knock on Netflix. Yeah, you're my girl. You're
- 17:25Speaker 1: my girl, right the South coming on hand, I like
- 17:31Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. On hand mad steel is not
- 17:34Speaker 1: drug dealing, handmade well, it is a place where they
- 17:38Speaker 1: cutting off things. I mean, I was like, I like that.
- 17:43Speaker 1: So when she came alone, I mean, she just she
- 17:47Speaker 1: just fit the bills. She really did. And I remember
- 17:50Speaker 1: talking to she said, you know, people like I know
- 17:52Speaker 1: you what you probably heard about me. I said, I've
- 17:54Speaker 1: never heard anything about you because I didn't even know
- 17:56Speaker 1: who you was until we started casting. And I said, look,
- 17:59Speaker 1: I take people for who they are, not for what
- 18:01Speaker 1: somebody else say. You did. You know what I'm saying, Hey,
- 18:04Speaker 1: I don't come through to me who you are. I don't.
- 18:08Speaker 1: I don't dislike you for what somebody else dislike you for.
- 18:11Speaker 1: I get to know people, and I got to know
- 18:14Speaker 1: and I mean, she is just a wonderful person to
- 18:17Speaker 1: work with, you know. And one thing about me, I'm real.
- 18:21Speaker 1: So I sent my cast down and I said, hey,
- 18:24Speaker 1: we're not gonna worry about no call. She who's first
- 18:27Speaker 1: on the call, She who's a star? I said, because
- 18:29Speaker 1: this is all of our show. It takes all of
- 18:32Speaker 1: us to get this done it. I said, you know,
- 18:34Speaker 1: the only difference is it got my name on it.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I'm no fool. I know it's my show. I said,
- 18:39Speaker 1: but I can't do it without you guys. So with
- 18:42Speaker 1: all stars, and I just broke down that Hollywood bearer
- 18:46Speaker 1: from the day one, the only difference is all pay Chase.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Here's here's the funny part about that speech she just
- 18:52Speaker 1: gave you. She said, you know I need all y'all.
- 18:54Speaker 1: You know, you know, don't worry about that call sheet,
- 18:57Speaker 1: but my name on the show. So don't get stupid.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Now you get stupid. It that on that one day
- 19:01Speaker 1: you get stupid and forget that. I'm gonna remind you
- 19:04Speaker 1: this miss Patty and I Patricia Weaves straight out the
- 19:07Speaker 1: street from a drug dealer, convicted fella. I will show
- 19:11Speaker 1: you part of reality that you don't want to see
- 19:13Speaker 1: about me. And that's what the reality this show is
- 19:16Speaker 1: bringing all these individual girls. I know, I'm just talking
- 19:18Speaker 1: about Tammy Roman from a stand up comedian, from a
- 19:21Speaker 1: from a comedian standpoint, how she stood out. But your
- 19:24Speaker 1: husband and he's funny, your young son's funny. Let's talk
- 19:29Speaker 1: about that opening. And like I said, the show opens,
- 19:32Speaker 1: you would have heard talking, you know, because I'm not
- 19:34Speaker 1: gonna give away the show too much. But it then
- 19:36Speaker 1: it transitions into her house and it is the plane
- 19:43Speaker 1: right and right right it is. It's really, like I said,
- 19:47Speaker 1: it's really so slick the way you guys are doing it,
- 19:50Speaker 1: and it's so entertaining, you know. I was really fascinated
- 19:55Speaker 1: about And some of my questions were from a production standpoint.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Some of my questions were how much were you involved
- 20:01Speaker 1: when you with this whole creative co opening and the
- 20:05Speaker 1: character set up and also the scripts. Do you do
- 20:08Speaker 1: you get to play with Hey, I don't like that line?
- 20:10Speaker 1: Could I say that line? Do? They shoot several scenes
- 20:13Speaker 1: and this is the scene from the script they go
- 20:15Speaker 1: do your thing scene because a lot of times when
- 20:17Speaker 1: they have challenged comedians like you, they go, hey, okay,
- 20:20Speaker 1: this is a script, but do your thing on this
- 20:22Speaker 1: with miss pat How does that work? Actually, we had writers,
- 20:27Speaker 1: We had writers, honestly, but that was not one strip
- 20:30Speaker 1: that we didn't go back and touch. So you know,
- 20:33Speaker 1: you can have anybody, can you know? Mostly writers with
- 20:35Speaker 1: this show was there too to build a form because
- 20:39Speaker 1: it's such my voice, So I have to touch every
- 20:42Speaker 1: strip and and some of them had to be totally rewritch,
- 20:46Speaker 1: absolutely totally reach. So the bother down to me and
- 20:50Speaker 1: the co creator Jordan Cooper wrote every strip. We wrote
- 20:53Speaker 1: on every strip, so um, only men him was allowed
- 20:58Speaker 1: to change things. You know. Uh, it was never like
- 21:01Speaker 1: do your thing because I felt like we wrote these
- 21:04Speaker 1: trips a funny enough to where everybody she made to
- 21:07Speaker 1: follow the trip. Now we didn't make up some stuff
- 21:09Speaker 1: on the floor and as fun as production. And all
- 21:12Speaker 1: of that stuff you see opening that came from this
- 21:14Speaker 1: twenty three year old. He's twenty six now, twenty six
- 21:17Speaker 1: year old kid out did all that plane opened it?
- 21:19Speaker 1: And the way I do the monologues and the comedy
- 21:22Speaker 1: of firm, all that stuff came from him. You know,
- 21:25Speaker 1: we literally wrote each one of those monologue the day
- 21:28Speaker 1: before I was supposed to shoot all the comedy in
- 21:32Speaker 1: that up front to tell you what the show was about,
- 21:34Speaker 1: how to show open. A lot of that stuff was
- 21:36Speaker 1: wrote at the last minute. Now it wasn't easy either.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Now look at your children's eyes to see the true
- 21:44Speaker 1: magic of a forest. It's a storybook world for them.
- 21:48Speaker 1: You look and see a tree, They see the wrinkled
- 21:51Speaker 1: face of a wizard with arms outstretched to the sky.
- 21:54Speaker 1: They see treasure and pebbles. They see a windy path
- 21:58Speaker 1: that could lead to adventure, and they see you. They're fearless. Guide.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Is this fascinating world? Find a forest near you and
- 22:06Speaker 1: start exploring. I discover the Forest dot Org, brought to

- 22:23Speaker 1: from this and connect with this, we reconnect with each other.

- 22:34Speaker 1: near you and start exploring. I Discover the forest dot

- 22:56Speaker 1: We've all felt left out, and for some that feeling
- 22:59Speaker 1: lasts more more than a moment. We can change that.

- 23:05Speaker 1: to you by the ACT Council. Welcome out and the shot.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Now you know your your your search to comedy stardom.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Like I said, I talked about when you first when
- 23:17Speaker 1: the series was first picked up on Fox at sixteen,
- 23:19Speaker 1: and you recently did a Netflix first special and you
- 23:23Speaker 1: know COVID came out, so that cut down you couldn't
- 23:25Speaker 1: tour taking advantage of all that great notoride. We know
- 23:30Speaker 1: stand up comedians, we make our money live and so
- 23:32Speaker 1: now you have this amazing sitcom on BT Plus called
- 23:36Speaker 1: Miss pat Okay, What's what's what? We're gonna see a
- 23:39Speaker 1: comedy clubs out of You're gonna see three thousand Sea Theres.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Or we're gonna see Uh, we're gonna see a United Center,
- 23:45Speaker 1: or you wanna see Matters Square gard What are we
- 23:47Speaker 1: gonna see? How the Miss Paller? You're gonna come back
- 23:49Speaker 1: and do the stay Farm? You know, Areada by yourself?
- 23:51Speaker 1: What we're gonna do here in Atlanta? George? What we're
- 23:53Speaker 1: gonna do? Miss bad? I'm just putting you on the spot,
- 23:55Speaker 1: young lady. Come on now, well you know I'm open
- 23:59Speaker 1: to ags and stuff like that. I'm hoping. Come on now,
- 24:03Speaker 1: you're way too confident. He shouldn't be hoping. Don't be
- 24:06Speaker 1: humbled on this show. Your talent doesn't allow you to
- 24:09Speaker 1: be ub Come on, you're in your path, You're special. Well,
- 24:13Speaker 1: I mean, I'm looking forward to moving into theaters. I'm
- 24:15Speaker 1: doing really well in clubs right now. I'm looking I'm
- 24:18Speaker 1: looking forward. You know, I like the intimates of the club.
- 24:22Speaker 1: But I'm saying that my career is growing a lot
- 24:25Speaker 1: that I'm not gonna be I'm not gonna work myself
- 24:27Speaker 1: to them doing nine of the shows because I'm four.
- 24:29Speaker 1: I'm forty nine years old, So I mean, I'm looking
- 24:32Speaker 1: forward to I'm looking forward to whatever. You know, the
- 24:34Speaker 1: career brains. I love people, I love doing stand up.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Stand up is number one for me because it's the
- 24:41Speaker 1: only thing that I can't control. You know, as far
- 24:43Speaker 1: as a TV show, they say to Misspatched, show will
- 24:47Speaker 1: be T Plus and Fox on this show. So I
- 24:50Speaker 1: work for them, you know, their part about it. My
- 24:53Speaker 1: name is on it, but in the end is their show,
- 24:55Speaker 1: they boy. So I focus on what I can't control,
- 24:58Speaker 1: which is my stand up. So you will be saying
- 25:01Speaker 1: people can know that you'll be said a lot more
- 25:04Speaker 1: on my stand up because that's where I grind the hardest. That. Now,
- 25:08Speaker 1: let's let's talk about you know, you know, because you know,
- 25:11Speaker 1: you can get popular a lot of ways nowadays through
- 25:14Speaker 1: social media, through YouTube channel. Now, what impacted popularity did
- 25:20Speaker 1: the Netflix special have on your career? Netflix helped me
- 25:24Speaker 1: out a lot. And honestly, they they're really nice over there.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I've worked with them a lot. Uh, they're getting ready
- 25:30Speaker 1: to shoot my first special. When when when we're ready
- 25:34Speaker 1: but um that during that their quarter hour helped out
- 25:39Speaker 1: a lot, also doing the cabin on with Bert christcher
- 25:42Speaker 1: On that all that stuff, everything to me is a
- 25:45Speaker 1: piece of the puzzle to put my career into place.
- 25:48Speaker 1: So those little pieces that those chips that Netflix hit me,
- 25:51Speaker 1: it was just another piece. This this show that BT
- 25:54Speaker 1: plus hit me, it's another piece. All of it just
- 25:57Speaker 1: a poser to me. And we're putting it together now. Okay,
- 26:00Speaker 1: now now we've gotta T plus the show. It's premiered
- 26:02Speaker 1: in August. Have you been able to start feel a
- 26:05Speaker 1: shift of like people like me getting excited about you,
- 26:09Speaker 1: people in the street, going in the grocery shore now
- 26:10Speaker 1: we're wearing masks and someplace you're not wearing mad How
- 26:13Speaker 1: is that affecting you? Are you? Are you feeling? Are
- 26:16Speaker 1: you feeling? You know? You know you kinda got that
- 26:20Speaker 1: that that that sentister smile. You know. I don't know
- 26:22Speaker 1: if you're happy. I don't know if you're ready to
- 26:24Speaker 1: punch me into the forehead. Where are you at with
- 26:27Speaker 1: your life? Are you happy with with what's happening though
- 26:30Speaker 1: you're happy with the popularity this new series is bringing
- 26:33Speaker 1: into your life? Talk to us about that I mean,
- 26:36Speaker 1: I'm very happy. Uh the show just for mere last week,
- 26:39Speaker 1: so I haven't been. I'm I'm on a set right now.
- 26:42Speaker 1: You're behind me. I'm gonna trail. I'm shooting another pilot,
- 26:45Speaker 1: so I will been outside with people are Oh my god,
- 26:47Speaker 1: that's MISPAC. So I've been to the airport. I won't
- 26:51Speaker 1: know until next week. So I mean I'm getting I'm
- 26:54Speaker 1: getting noticed a lot more now. But you know, I
- 26:57Speaker 1: p places people don't expect me. My my, my buggest
- 27:01Speaker 1: A line is right there on Hill Street in Alta,
- 27:03Speaker 1: and I'm walking about, what the heck are you doing here?
- 27:05Speaker 1: I mean to get my wings put on? Like get so, um,
- 27:12Speaker 1: nothing has really changed, Like everybody's like, what do it
- 27:14Speaker 1: feel like? It feels like I need to go to work.
- 27:17Speaker 1: That's why. That's why I'm here. I'm working so I
- 27:19Speaker 1: don't really get caught up in the fame and all
- 27:21Speaker 1: of that stuff. And I don't need you to open
- 27:23Speaker 1: the dope for me. And I drive myself right now. Uh.
- 27:27Speaker 1: It just worked for me, and I'm happy to see
- 27:29Speaker 1: that people are starting to notice how hard I want
- 27:32Speaker 1: to get where I'm at. So that's what makes me happy.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Just people like, Oh my god, I didn't know you
- 27:38Speaker 1: was there. Oh that this show is really good. It
- 27:40Speaker 1: took five years for this show to get on TV.
- 27:43Speaker 1: What the three networks, three writers on a lot of
- 27:46Speaker 1: t years. Well that that that's the part that I
- 27:49Speaker 1: like about you, you know, because of the fact that
- 27:51Speaker 1: a lot of people see Hollywood, they see this ship
- 27:54Speaker 1: coming there. If I don't bring that up in my
- 27:55Speaker 1: intro and we're talking honestly about it, people say, oh,
- 27:58Speaker 1: she would. It's just sixteen. She thought it was gonna happen.
- 28:03Speaker 1: So that was a high for her Fox and then
- 28:06Speaker 1: and then twenty and nirteen Hulu there was another high
- 28:09Speaker 1: for her when you went to b T plus. What
- 28:12Speaker 1: was your emotion at that point? Were you like, whatever,
- 28:15Speaker 1: you know, I I see it when I see it,
- 28:17Speaker 1: And because it went to some more advanced steps that
- 28:20Speaker 1: made you feel it was going to happen, Where were
- 28:22Speaker 1: you at? And then like I said, I'm over here,
- 28:24Speaker 1: you know, just Googland and just gushing about how brilliant
- 28:28Speaker 1: you are and how just I'm in love with miss
- 28:30Speaker 1: pat and the show on BT plus? Where were you
- 28:34Speaker 1: at each one of those steps in twenty sixteen, twin
- 28:36Speaker 1: and eteen and then when when I got to holding
- 28:41Speaker 1: deal and we found a writer, I was happy. I was,
- 28:44Speaker 1: oh my god, I'm finally gonna get a show. And
- 28:46Speaker 1: things didn't work out, so we switched the writer and
- 28:48Speaker 1: then we went to another writer. Things didn't work out again,
- 28:51Speaker 1: so I started to lose comfort, and then I said,
- 28:54Speaker 1: you know what, if it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen.
- 28:57Speaker 1: I'm so happy. I had eat dare to say and
- 29:00Speaker 1: my friend John Ratler wanted the producer that helped found me.
- 29:03Speaker 1: He was like, it's done. I happen sometime when he's great,
- 29:06Speaker 1: you just take a longer time. I never get want of.
- 29:09Speaker 1: The producer named Francis told me that, so I said, okay,
- 29:12Speaker 1: that's fine, and we ended up getting the writer and
- 29:16Speaker 1: then we shot. We shoot the pilot and I kept
- 29:18Speaker 1: telling everybody they're not gonna pick it up. My spirit
- 29:20Speaker 1: told me Hulu was not gonna pick it up. Hulu
- 29:23Speaker 1: dropped it and I was like, okay, Lulu, what are
- 29:26Speaker 1: we're going from here? Day was like I will find
- 29:28Speaker 1: your home. When BT plus popped up, my first thing was, well,
- 29:33Speaker 1: what that was? Bt plug? I never have plus and
- 29:38Speaker 1: it was like T plus picked it up and then
- 29:40Speaker 1: they're gonna give your guys ten up. So I was like,
- 29:42Speaker 1: what is that. They was like, they just started a
- 29:44Speaker 1: new streaming service and he's at the time it was
- 29:48Speaker 1: like maybe a year old, and he looking up. They
- 29:51Speaker 1: only got a million subscribers. You kind of you know,
- 29:55Speaker 1: it's a kind of shift shift in your Happening's like, wow,
- 29:58Speaker 1: we went from Hulu to hear. And so I had
- 30:00Speaker 1: to tell the co creator. I said, let me tell
- 30:02Speaker 1: you something about life. I've learned. You have to learn
- 30:04Speaker 1: to miss with people who miss with you. So just
- 30:07Speaker 1: because you want to be all that with all the
- 30:08Speaker 1: big fish, maybe this is what we're supposed to be.
- 30:11Speaker 1: And so I remember when I got to meet them
- 30:13Speaker 1: and things started to get rolling, and I just told him,
- 30:16Speaker 1: I said, I think that this show is gonna be
- 30:18Speaker 1: your handmaids tells like it was to Hulu because he
- 30:22Speaker 1: may put Hulu that's the only reason why ever subscribed
- 30:25Speaker 1: to it. I said, I said, if you, if you
- 30:27Speaker 1: allow us to do what we wanna do and support us,
- 30:31Speaker 1: we I think we can be your handmaid Still, and
- 30:33Speaker 1: it lunched and people went crazy. There you go, see,
- 30:37Speaker 1: I've been waiting on that. So you see that's all.
- 30:40Speaker 1: So you had to know something. People went crazy, like
- 30:42Speaker 1: me going crazy from Mrs Pat She's a star, uh
- 30:47Speaker 1: Patricia with a K, Miss Pat bt plus subscribe to
- 30:51Speaker 1: it the Miss pat Show. Not only is she brilliant,
- 30:54Speaker 1: but the cast. Like I said that, I just Tammy Roman.
- 30:57Speaker 1: If you just know as a reality star, you watch
- 31:00Speaker 1: this show, you're gonna know as a comedy star. The
- 31:02Speaker 1: other cast members are fantastic. The writing is great, but
- 31:06Speaker 1: more important, it's original. I told my staff today, I said,
- 31:09Speaker 1: I felt like I was watching the modern day version
- 31:11Speaker 1: of Safon his Son from a stylistic from organic, from
- 31:14Speaker 1: original point of view. Because you're breaking so many walls
- 31:17Speaker 1: down and you're doing it with grace, You're doing it
- 31:20Speaker 1: with elegance. You may not have wanted to be a
- 31:22Speaker 1: stand up comedian, but you're a queen of comedy now,
- 31:24Speaker 1: young lady. So you keep winning over people. I'm gonna try.
- 31:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna try because stop that, stop that you are
- 31:31Speaker 1: doing it. Don't do it. I'm trying. You are a beach,
- 31:34Speaker 1: you are a beauty queen of comedy. Okay, what thank you?
- 31:38Speaker 1: Thank you? Thank you hard? I mean, I don't I
- 31:40Speaker 1: can do is put it out there is the public
- 31:43Speaker 1: will let you know what they like it. The public
- 31:46Speaker 1: is letting you know. Uh like you say, you will
- 31:48Speaker 1: be the as they see the anchor of that network
- 31:52Speaker 1: which is BT Street Plus streaming. And believe me, every
- 31:55Speaker 1: day your episodes on they get more subscribers because of you.
- 31:58Speaker 1: And I want to thank you for coming. No money
- 32:00Speaker 1: making conversations, okay, thank you for having. If you want
- 32:04Speaker 1: to see in any interviews are here in in my
