- 0:00This shit ain't nothing to me, man. This is Boxing
- 0:03Before Dark. Boxing. Boxing. Boxing. Back. Back.
- 0:06Back. Back. Back. Before. Before. Before. Before.
- 0:11Boxing. Boxing. Boxing. Boxing Before Dark. This
- 0:15is Boxing Before Dark. Alright. That's the time
- 0:26break. Boxing Before Dark, it's a double dose.
- 0:33We've got douchebag glasses and we've got shoulder
- 0:37cats. Shinada, how goes it in Japan? It goes
- 0:41good. It goes good. I'm going to the mounted
- 0:44archery demonstration after this. I'm super excited.
- 0:48I think it's going to be badass. That sounds
- 0:50so badass. They wear the historical armor and
- 0:54stuff. So it's like full... Samurais. Samurai
- 0:59stuff, yeah, yeah, yeah. Holy cow, that sounds
- 1:01amazing. It's not the, like, big samurai armor
- 1:04people think of, but the mounted archer armor.
- 1:08Okay. Okay, so, yeah, it's not the... My reference
- 1:14point is Last Samurai, the movie. No, that was
- 1:18for sword fighting. Okay. I don't think that
- 1:20would be great on horses, that stuff. Might be
- 1:22a little more difficult to handle yourself. That
- 1:27sounds fun. Almost as fun as having a kitty on
- 1:30your shoulder. Actually, just kidding. Mounted
- 1:33archery is a lot more cool than a shoulder kitty.
- 1:37The shoulder kitty's cute as hell, though. Yeah.
- 1:42Let's get into the stuff. First things first,
- 1:48I... I'm trying to push this because I really
- 1:50want to hear what people have to say. bxng .co
- 1:54slash survey. I want to know what you think about
- 1:57the titles, the secondary titles, regional titles.
- 2:02What do you count as a full world championship?
- 2:07What doesn't count as a world championship? Which
- 2:11world titles, like how do you rank them against
- 2:14each other? How do you rate them? individually
- 2:17like in terms of prestige and another thing the
- 2:23muhammad ali american boxing revival act we still
- 2:27have time to beat this in the senate nico ali
- 2:30walsh has he's launched the ali protection association
- 2:34or whatever the hell he's calling it and what
- 2:38we're doing what he's doing is that is exactly
- 2:41what i'm trying to do right now is i need you
- 2:45to contact your senators if you go to lvxmedia
- 2:48.net slash b -sides. Go there. At the very top,
- 2:53there's a link for how you can find the contact
- 2:57information for your senators specifically. Obviously,
- 3:01this is for the Americans, not for anyone international.
- 3:04There's a blurb there as well. If you're not
- 3:08sure what to say, the blurb is the blueprint.
- 3:14If you want to add to it, take away from it,
- 3:18whatever you feel best fits what you would say.
- 3:22Whatever you feel best fits your voice, that's
- 3:26what my blurb is for. If you can't think of anything,
- 3:29use that. If you know what you want to do better
- 3:32than that, or you feel you can do better than
- 3:35that, by all means. You're not going to hurt
- 3:37my feelings. But that's really it. I just want
- 3:42to... I've said this before and I want to reiterate
- 3:46that legislators in the U .S. pay attention to
- 3:51constituent phone calls, letters, and emails.
- 3:56I know for a fact because I know one of my senators
- 3:59personally. I know him. The other one, I'm casually
- 4:03acquainted with. I know them. I know that this
- 4:08is what they pay attention to. So, before you
- 4:11say, they don't care what I think. Yes, they
- 4:15do. Maybe that's just like my inner activist.
- 4:18But, yes, they do. They will care if you say
- 4:22something about this. Especially if you're contacting
- 4:25them about a very specific piece of legislation.
- 4:29So, we'll leave it at that. We'll get back to
- 4:33the fun shoulder kitty stuff. And just, we can't
- 4:37let Dana White. Get away with it. We can't. No.
- 4:43And we've said it before, but this will kill
- 4:46the lower level. Grassroots boxing is fucking
- 4:49dead with what this legislation proposes. Yeah.
- 4:55So this isn't to say that boxing does not need
- 4:58reform. It absolutely does. But this legislation
- 5:02is not it. Yeah. This shit is not it. But yeah,
- 5:07let's leave it at that. LVXmedia .net slash b
- 5:11-sides. Now, into the fun stuff. Ola Squaga and
- 5:17Navarrete get their five defense rings. Tell
- 5:22me more. Ola Squaga was super excited about it.
- 5:26He mentioned it before the fight in Tokyo. He
- 5:29mentioned it after the fight. And his ring is
- 5:33all over his Instagram now. It's a baller -ass
- 5:37ring. That's for sure. It's a big -ass ring,
- 5:39yeah. It's like Super Bowl type of shit. Yeah,
- 5:43I am 100 % sure he went and got a manicure so
- 5:47he could take the ring pictures. Very, very princess.
- 5:51Yeah, his nails are, like, they're not painted
- 5:53or anything, but they are looking very shaped
- 5:56and shiny. And his cuticles are so clean. I didn't
- 6:02see anything on Nav's, but Olaskaga is very much
- 6:06enjoying his bling. I bet Nav, what he did was,
- 6:12what airborne troopers do in the U .S. is when
- 6:16they get their jump wings, they hold the pin
- 6:19in their mouth and they pound a beer with it.
- 6:22Nice. I would bet Nav would do something like
- 6:25that. Yeah, yeah. End up swallowing a little
- 6:29mini diamond. Nab somehow stuck his in a donut.
- 6:41Yeah. He's not pounding a beer with it. He's
- 6:44pounding a Coke. A Coke bottle with his ring
- 6:49in his mouth. Nab's going to have to get his
- 6:53stretched when he stops boxing. Oh, man. A two
- 7:00-belt champ fucking getting to work on Boxing
- 7:03Before Dark. I love Nav. I do, too. I rode against
- 7:10him, against Nunez, and I fully admit I was sorely
- 7:14mistaken. He looked good. He looked better than
- 7:18fucking ever. Nutritionist Nav is fucking on
- 7:23point. I will never again. I will never speak
- 7:27ill. of Nebraska again. The WBC, this is a little
- 7:34bit more of a somber note, somber -ish, makes
- 7:38a little commemorative belt for George Morikawa,
- 7:42the author of Hajime no Ippo, when he was put
- 7:47into the hospital. So he's been in and out of
- 7:50the hospital recently with something in his abdomen.
- 7:54He had a surgery, but he got out of the hospital
- 8:00right before the tension Estrada card, and they
- 8:05presented him the belt on his way out of the
- 8:08hospital. Excellent. Yeah, so they made him a
- 8:11little belt, and every fighter on that card signed
- 8:14it for him. So it's got... all the signatures
- 8:17on the back and it's a perfect like tiny replica
- 8:21i got one of those for a friend of mine when
- 8:27as a as like a baby shower gift this you know
- 8:32like well baby showers all of the like the women
- 8:35get together and like they do a lot of baby stuff
- 8:38and like they play games and all that so As a
- 8:43baby shower gift for my boy, who was the dad
- 8:47to be, we got him a little mini WBC belt for
- 8:52his boy. Excellent. Yeah. Those little belts
- 8:57are fucking cool. They are cool. I thought this
- 9:00was really nice because the WBC is the belt to
- 9:04get in EPO. Like, they really talk up the WBC.
- 9:08WBA, WBC are the two in the anime that they really
- 9:12hype up. Yeah, yeah. Which is weird, because,
- 9:15like, well, no, OPBF feeds into WBC. Yeah. It
- 9:21makes perfect sense. The WBC is the big one in
- 9:25Japan. Hmm. Like, that's the one people want
- 9:29to win. It has the prestige. Yeah. Japan, via
- 9:35OPBF and JBC, they're like one of the original
- 9:41founders of the WBC. It's not just Mexico. Okay.
- 9:45I don't know much about the history of the belts,
- 9:48to be honest. I looked into, like, OPBF, EBU,
- 9:54what do these even mean? Why do they matter?
- 9:58Why should I care about OPBF? And then that.
- 10:02Like before. OPBF. Was the belt to have. And
- 10:08then. WBC founded. With OPBF as one of like the.
- 10:14Member organizations. Or like founding organizations.
- 10:17That were a supporter of it. So. So the WBC belt.
- 10:28made for george modikawa wonderful gesture um
- 10:31this this is actually like was it when you say
- 10:35it was like a replica belt was it like full size
- 10:37or no it was a small one okay but it was apparently
- 10:42made by the same company and it has all the little
- 10:45like dude pictures on it yeah oh yeah all the
- 10:48accoutrement that goes on the side of it yeah
- 10:52yeah that's cool interesting turn of events The
- 10:56Saudi Wealth Fund is backing off of Live Golf.
- 11:01The relevance will be revealed in a moment, I
- 11:07guess. So there was this big stink a few years
- 11:13ago when the Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund announced
- 11:17that they were making Live Golf, and it was supposed
- 11:21to be like a rival to PGA. And there was a big
- 11:26stink of whether fighters, whether golfers were
- 11:31going to sign with Liv. And some of them did
- 11:34for like record fees. A lot of money was made
- 11:41by a handful of players. And some of them had
- 11:48chosen to not sign with Liv and stayed loyal
- 11:52to PGA. They refused record fees. And later,
- 11:59it turned out that Liv and PGA ended up merging
- 12:02anyway. Ah, that's a kick in the nuts. So a lot
- 12:07of those PGA loyalists sued. Like, what the fuck,
- 12:12man? We rejected them for you, and now you're
- 12:17selling out anyway. Yeah. So that was just one
- 12:23of those, like, there's also a Saudi Super Soccer
- 12:28League, Super Football League, that, like, they
- 12:32signed Cristiano Ronaldo and a lot of other high
- 12:37-end players for record fees. And as we all know,
- 12:41the Saudi Wealth Fund also signed, they put on
- 12:46some pretty high -end boxing events. Let's not
- 12:51pretend. As much as I dislike the Saudi government,
- 12:55the fights were good. The quality of the events
- 13:01fully in and of themselves, not what I would
- 13:06call elite, just because they would have fucking
- 13:10concerts and stuff in the middle of it. It's
- 13:14a little weird. But the Saudi Wealth Fund is
- 13:17backing off of the Live Golf Tournament. We're
- 13:20expecting them to back off of their Saudi Super
- 13:23League for football. Is boxing next? What do
- 13:30you think? They're already kind of pulling back
- 13:33a little, right? Like they haven't been doing
- 13:36the big events. Yeah. I know they're still in
- 13:41with Zufa, but I don't think that's the kind
- 13:45of money that those big ring events were. Or
- 13:50what did they call it? Re -add season events.
- 13:54I don't think they've seen the type of goodwill
- 13:58they were expecting from boxing. People still
- 14:02talk a lot of shit. Myself very much included.
- 14:06Yeah. So it wouldn't surprise me if they're like,
- 14:10oh, this is a bit of a failed experiment. Yeah.
- 14:15As much as I cannot... deny i appreciate the
- 14:21the fights that they did put on because like
- 14:25uh beevil versus better be of that was those
- 14:29two fights were like we've been waiting for this
- 14:33we've been wanting this uh tyson fury versus
- 14:37alexander usik i think they were involved with
- 14:40usik versus aj we can count them count them off
- 14:45but ultimately We like we I feel I can speak
- 14:51on behalf of a pretty big segment of the fan
- 14:55base when I say I appreciate that you put these
- 14:59fights on. That does not change what I think
- 15:02about you as a government or what I think about
- 15:05Saudi Arabia as like a nation as a nation state.
- 15:09It doesn't change what I think about you. Thanks
- 15:12for the fights. But sorry, bro. You're still
- 15:15assholes. You can't buy goodwill that easy. Right.
- 15:19Like, you shouldn't be able to. They'd probably
- 15:23have more luck in some other sports. I don't
- 15:27know how their soccer thing's going off, but
- 15:30I don't think that's really helping either. I
- 15:32have heard nothing about it since the announcement
- 15:35of it. And since the one player that I saw signed
- 15:39to it that was worth a stink was Ronaldo. And
- 15:44that was really it. Yeah, I don't know this like
- 15:49perception washing with sports. I don't think
- 15:52sports fans are that stupid. No, no. Like, I
- 15:57think they they thought sports fans were that
- 16:01stupid and probably combat sports fans. They're
- 16:04like, oh, it's idiots. They like to watch people
- 16:05beat each other up. But like, we're not that
- 16:09stupid. Everyone can see what you're doing. Yeah,
- 16:15my political podcast might be on hiatus, but
- 16:19I haven't stopped paying attention to politics.
- 16:21Yeah. I know that Saudi Arabia is still very
- 16:25shitty. And this isn't for me. I don't know.
- 16:30I'm not wishing ill on the people of Saudi Arabia
- 16:35by any stretch of the imagination. Like the stuff
- 16:38that's happening in Iran at the moment, it's
- 16:41impacting the... Gulf Arab states. And I fully
- 16:47see it. I see you. I know that you're dealing
- 16:51with some bullshit right now. And I don't wish
- 16:55that on you or anyone for that matter. But the
- 16:59Saudi government, like, bro, putting on some
- 17:02boxing events is not going to change what people
- 17:06think about you. Putting on a golf tournament
- 17:09is not going to change what people think of you.
- 17:14It's just not how it works, man. No. Well, speaking
- 17:23of the Saudis, Ryan Rozicki, a Canadian cruiserweight
- 17:29who is currently ranked number one by the WBC,
- 17:33and Chris Billum -Smith, signed with Zufa. Yeah.
- 17:41I don't care about either of these people. Me
- 17:45either. But they're clearly trying to get Jai
- 17:48some competition is what this is. Getting a number
- 17:53one contender is not a bad sign if you want to
- 17:57get Jai a good opponent. And CBS is a name. I
- 18:03mean, kind of. CBS has fought... More than one
- 18:10top cruiserweight. He fought Zerto. We saw that
- 18:13because he got the piss beaten out of him to
- 18:16claim a title off of him. But hasn't CBS fought
- 18:19someone else? Not Lawrence Okoli. I can't remember.
- 18:27I know he's fought like two names. He fought
- 18:31Glanton, right? Is he a name? Not really. No.
- 18:39Reakpor? Akoli? Okay. Yeah, that's who I was
- 18:43thinking of. Just with Reakpor's new recent history
- 18:48that we'll talk about in a moment. But that's
- 18:52who I was thinking of. Yeah. Two good names.
- 18:58We could have either one of these dudes fight
- 19:02Jai, the other guy fight Glanton, and then...
- 19:06When Jai beats the one, have the loser fight
- 19:11Glanton, and then the winner of Glanton... You
- 19:16can have a little round robin here for Jai to
- 19:19get his reps in. Yeah, but like, Jai going to
- 19:25Zufa was so stupid. Not the best move. But I
- 19:31wonder if they're trying to get him back on one
- 19:35of the belt standings. Maybe the WBC is more
- 19:42willing to play with Zufa than the IBF. We know
- 19:46WBC, as long as they're getting paid, they don't
- 19:48give a shit. Exactly. So grab the number one
- 19:52contender from the WBC. Have Jai get up in their
- 19:57rankings. Snipe his position. And then sign Norair
- 20:04Mikaelian. Or don't. Just sign him for one fight
- 20:10just to give up his title. Yeah. And, like, does
- 20:15that lend credence to the... Because we talked
- 20:21about this last week. Does the Zufa title in
- 20:26and of itself doesn't matter? But the number
- 20:29one cruiserweight is holding it. Yeah, but I
- 20:34mean, I still don't care about the Zufa belt.
- 20:36I don't either. It's just... You can't have a
- 20:41belt mean something in one weight class. That's
- 20:45just my opinion. But all your belts mean something
- 20:48or none of them mean anything. Right. I didn't
- 20:51really... I hadn't thought about it that way
- 20:54until you had mentioned it. I'm like, you're
- 20:56right. Because when we say the WBC matters, we
- 21:02mean that the WBC matters. And any division,
- 21:07any titleist in the division is a world champion.
- 21:13Exactly. Like, if any world champion goes and
- 21:18gets any random alphabet belt, it doesn't make
- 21:22the alphabet belt worth anything. I mean, they
- 21:24don't do it, but like... Say Inouye went and
- 21:27won what's one that I don't even know about the
- 21:30IBU? WBF. If Inouye decided to go get a WBF belt,
- 21:37that doesn't make the WBF good. A valid organization.
- 21:41Right. Just means that Inouye did something weird.
- 21:46Clarissa Shields holds on to the WBF belt for
- 21:50whatever her reasons are. She does. Yeah, it
- 21:55hasn't made it a thing in women's boxing. Sure
- 21:58hasn't. Same with IBO. Gennady Golovkin held
- 22:04it for fucking ages. Anthony Joshua held it for
- 22:09quite some time. Sergey Kovalev also held it
- 22:13for quite some time. So, like, there's... This
- 22:20is all in the survey. What do these belts mean?
- 22:25What do you think that they mean? And I want
- 22:28to know what you think. Because we're sitting
- 22:31here talking about Zufa title don't mean shit.
- 22:36I don't know. Do you disagree? Take the survey.
- 22:40Maybe it means something to somebody. It might.
- 22:44But just so far, results so far, it doesn't.
- 22:50matter to anyone um we're we're in double digits
- 22:56of of uh survey takers but whatever i want more
- 23:01ryan garcia and connor ben negotiations are quote
- 23:06well underway for august who is promoting connor
- 23:15ben for this one have we heard I haven't heard
- 23:19yet. Golden Boy, maybe? Since they promote Ryan
- 23:26Garcia? I do not want to see this fight. I could
- 23:34not care less. I don't like Ryan Garcia, but
- 23:37Conor Benn looked like ass. We'll talk about
- 23:40that in a moment. Conor Benn is the number one
- 23:45contender. He fought the fights. That's all I
- 23:53can really say. All right. Anyways, this does
- 23:58not get me excited about anything. I hope they
- 24:03both break each other's faces. Do you hope? Whose
- 24:11face do you hope gets broken? Anthony Joshua
- 24:14versus Tyson Fury. is in the works for November.
- 24:19Oh, you know who I'm going to cheer for in this
- 24:21one. Tyson Fury. No. No. I hope AJ knocks him
- 24:29out cold. Whatever. What's the thing that Fury
- 24:36always says? Dosser? Yeah, that one. Or Big Stiff
- 24:42Idiot. Either way. I hope AJ makes Fury look
- 24:47like shit. It would be nice. Strong words. And
- 24:54I am inclined to agree. I'm very much team AJ
- 24:58on this one. Especially now that he's friends
- 25:01with Usyk. Helps. Helps a lot. I think so. That
- 25:08to me shows a level of maturity. that he has
- 25:15heretofore not not shown it's like it's like
- 25:23admitting he needs to try aj always is willing
- 25:28to try new things though like he switches trainers
- 25:31and stuff maybe too much he did switch he went
- 25:35through like a little trainer um like round robin
- 25:40like he tried ronnie shields he tried robert
- 25:42garcia he ended up going back to where he started
- 25:46which hey like you tried something new but having
- 25:51like the elite heavyweight as in your coaching
- 25:57corner that says a lot i personally think that
- 26:03the biggest thing will be usik helping aj with
- 26:05his mindset I think you're right. I think AJ's
- 26:10like mental side is his weakest point. He's a
- 26:15good boxer. He's really strong. He's always in
- 26:18shape, but he overthinks and makes weird decisions
- 26:22in the fights. And Usyk is always so calculating
- 26:27and cool and like calm in the fights. If he can
- 26:32give AJ some tips on how to like... get his head
- 26:37right i think that's the biggest thing usik can
- 26:41help him with i don't know at this point if aj
- 26:44needs that much like physical training it's not
- 26:48the physical part that he needs he's like you
- 26:51said he's he's fun he's technically sound um
- 26:55he he makes technical miscalculations but it's
- 26:59like the it's the mental aspect that you were
- 27:02talking about and i think usik being the cerebral
- 27:06fighter that he is, it... This is the... This
- 27:12is, like, I feel like this is the key ingredient
- 27:14that the AJ cocktail has been missing. Yeah.
- 27:19Because we know AJ's gonna be in better shape
- 27:22than Fury. Without a doubt. And, like, I think
- 27:27AJ still hits hard. Like, he's still got that
- 27:29great right hand. He just needs... the mental
- 27:34ability to put it all together and not get rattled
- 27:38during the fights right because AJ if he gets
- 27:42hit and out of shape he his he loses his focus
- 27:50and his mental game and starts making stupid
- 27:53fucking mistakes like as soon as he gets wobbled
- 27:57not every time but every time lately that he
- 28:01gets wobbled, he really gets just out of shape
- 28:04instantly. I'm trying to remember what fight
- 28:09it was where AJ's sitting in the corner and he's
- 28:13looking at his trainer and he's saying, what
- 28:16should I do? And then there was a... That was
- 28:21the Ruiz fight he lost, right? I think so. And
- 28:25then he asks, okay, what's he gonna do? Yeah.
- 28:32Yeah. I think you're right. I think AJ's biggest
- 28:36weakness in boxing is not being adaptable during
- 28:41a fight. Yeah. If everything goes to plan, he's
- 28:44golden. But if something unexpected happens,
- 28:48he has trouble adjusting. I believe in AJ. I
- 28:53do too. I think there's still talks of him taking
- 28:56a warm -up fight. I heard talks of him taking
- 29:01Wilder as a warm -up fight. Interesting warm
- 29:04-up fight to take. Yeah. But that's a really
- 29:10dangerous keep -busy fight. Because, like I said,
- 29:15when he gets hit and out of shape... If Wilder
- 29:20can land one good punch... A good right hand.
- 29:23And AJ gets out of shape... That's credits. Yeah.
- 29:31Well, with Usyk in this corner, though, I think
- 29:34he could survive a right hand. He could survive,
- 29:39because Wilder's not who he used to be either.
- 29:43No. But I'm just saying it's a more dangerous
- 29:47fight than, like, Makhmudov or someone. Right.
- 29:51Well, moving on, we have Kenneth Lover. is fighting
- 29:56an IBF bantamweight eliminator in Nagoya on June
- 30:016th. Are you going to be there for that? Nagoya's
- 30:04quite a hike. Yeah. Possibly, but there's a lot
- 30:11of things near Tokyo in June that I'm excited
- 30:14about, so possibly not. Nagoya's the fast train,
- 30:19so it would be an overnight trip. And the train
- 30:23tickets and the hotel are going to be like twice
- 30:25as much as the fight ticket. So it all adds up
- 30:30pretty fast. Nagoya was nice, though. I went
- 30:33there in February and I was surprised. Maybe
- 30:37I found like a cool area of Nagoya because I
- 30:41stayed kind of on the outskirts. But it was nice.
- 30:46Inuyama is what it was called. chose the area
- 30:49entirely because it means dog mountain and i
- 30:51thought it was cute good choice yeah it has a
- 30:57castle it has an old shopping district honestly
- 31:00if you want like not city city i would recommend
- 31:04it dog mountain that's that's fantastic yeah
- 31:09they have little dogs on everything super cute
- 31:11are they uh shiba inus Yeah, yeah. Little Shibas.
- 31:17Of course they are. You know, the lucky cats
- 31:20going into all... Yeah, they were lucky dogs.
- 31:24Oh, it was the little Shiba doing the little
- 31:27paw. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Not everywhere, but I
- 31:30saw many of them in the stores. It was great.
- 31:33Excellent. Oh, man. Speaking of excellent...
- 31:37Bam! Rodriguez versus Antonio Vargas is happening
- 31:42in Phoenix on June 13th. And you will be there.
- 31:47Is that even a question? Of course. Oh, that
- 31:52was a statement. Yeah, of course I will be there.
- 31:56Like, fucking, I will be there for first bell.
- 32:00I am there to watch every fucking fight on the
- 32:03ticket. Every single one. I will be there. I
- 32:09saw Artur Popoka versus Jordan Martinez, I think
- 32:14his name is. They had a draw on the Nav Nunez
- 32:19undercard. Right. And they're rematching. Rematching.
- 32:23Nice. Hell yeah, dog. I'm excited for it. I'm
- 32:29going to try for a press pass this time. But
- 32:33at the same time, like slamming back some fucking...
- 32:38Let me put my douchebag glasses back on. Slamming
- 32:42back some brewskis. Yeah. It does make it a bit
- 32:47more fun. But at the same time, I'm just really
- 32:53happy that this is happening here. More than
- 32:57happy to see Bam again. I know I'm watching a
- 33:01generational talent in front of me. 100 % with
- 33:04Bam. Yeah. I know I go to so many great fights
- 33:09here, but I am a little jealous of this one.
- 33:12I would love to be there. At 118, man, he's moving
- 33:17up. Yeah. I don't think this is permanent, though,
- 33:23because he does seem really set on the Undisputed
- 33:26with Willie Baldo. Yeah, I'm a little surprised
- 33:33he's going up without getting it. The up and
- 33:36down is hard. It is. I don't think it's a permanent
- 33:40move, so I think you're right. Like, moving back
- 33:42down. He said in a press little clipping that
- 33:46not cutting the extra three pounds makes it easier.
- 33:53Yeah. So, I don't know. But I'm still jealous
- 34:01of this one. That's awesome. Are you jealous?
- 34:07I don't know where I'm going with that. Floyd
- 34:11Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao is back on as a
- 34:15sanctioned bout. I mean, we all knew that was
- 34:19happening. Didn't we? Of course. There's been
- 34:24lots of people talking that this is all just
- 34:26marketing by Floyd. like getting people talking
- 34:31about it and stuff it could be honestly i do
- 34:34not want to see this fight anyways i'll watch
- 34:36it but we'll be watching with like a professional
- 34:40interest it's no i'm not excited for this shit
- 34:43the first one was too late and it was like 10
- 34:46fucking years ago like it was like six years
- 34:50too late uh and that was you're right like 11
- 34:55years ago Yeah. So what the fuck is this rematch?
- 35:00But if they're going to do it, it has to be an
- 35:04actual fight. The only reason anyone is going
- 35:07to watch is hoping that Mayweather loses his
- 35:10own. Or at least that's the only thing I'll be
- 35:14hoping for watching this. Yeah. I have to make
- 35:20sure that one listener lives not like. In a city
- 35:26not too far from me, but it's Kevin in Prescott.
- 35:31I'll pronounce it the way that you like it. Prescott.
- 35:36Anyway, this isn't important. This is theatrics.
- 35:44And I don't mean the gamesmanship of Floyd saying
- 35:49it's an exhibition and then Floyd saying it's
- 35:51canceled. No. The whole fucking event. It's just
- 35:56a show. Don't fucking pay attention to this shit.
- 36:01It's not that important. If you miss it, oh well,
- 36:04dude. You didn't miss much. I did like Manny
- 36:08buying Floyd's gym. Oh, I forgot to put that
- 36:12on the outline. Yeah, you're absolutely right.
- 36:16Yeah, yeah. So Floyd was behind payments on his
- 36:19gym or whatever and Manny bought it up. In Vegas.
- 36:22The... TMT Gym in Vegas. Is owned by Manny Pacquiao
- 36:29now. Yep, it's now MP. Oh boy. And there's more
- 36:37stories coming out about Floyd Mayweather being
- 36:40behind on payments and stuff and losing things
- 36:43or having liens put against him. Which is entirely
- 36:47why this fight is happening. Right. Also, has
- 36:52there been any updates on the Mike Tyson fight?
- 36:55It should have happened at this point. So it
- 37:00was just canceled? It seems so. I'm okay with
- 37:04that. Mike doesn't need to be doing this shit.
- 37:09What is the point of a 60 -year -old man, a 60
- 37:13-year -old big man, getting pieced up by a 50
- 37:16-year -old smaller guy? Yeah. Like, what's the
- 37:20point? That one I honestly think no one wanted
- 37:26to see. The Greek kickboxer? Sure. Usyk is doing
- 37:34the same shit. Who cares? Do your crossovers.
- 37:37Whatever. Have fun. Just leave Mike alone. Leave
- 37:42him alone. He's having fun with his podcast.
- 37:46He has his cannabis farm. Leave the guy alone.
- 37:51Let him play with his pigeons and enjoy his retirement.
- 37:54Yeah, leave the dude alone. Fuck with Manny Pacquiao.
- 37:59Yeah, you need that cash? You're going to have
- 38:04to put your record back up on the chopping block.
- 38:09Yeah. Man, I'm going to love it if Manny pulls
- 38:13this off. It's unlikely. But I would be so happy.
- 38:19Imagine if Manny sparks Mayweather. The scenes.
- 38:24Manila will burn. It'll be like Manila will be
- 38:30like Philly after a Super Bowl win. Yeah. Yes,
- 38:35we won. But there are still people eating horse
- 38:41turds off the ground. That type of shit. Like,
- 38:46yes, we won, but we're still burning the whole
- 38:50goddamn city down for whatever reason. Just what
- 38:56you do when you're excited, I guess. Yeah. Anything
- 39:03more for the news? No, I think we covered it.
- 39:07Yeah. All right. Let me put some notes in here.

- 43:48We've got Eye of the Tiger in Montreal. A whole
- 43:55lot of fights on here to talk about. Just kidding.
- 43:57Only one and a half. Really quickly, the half.
- 44:03Arthur B. Arslanov gets the stoppage in seven
- 44:06over Himir Espinosa. It was certainly a fight.
- 44:13Yup. And Oslis Iglesias retires Pavel Selyagin
- 44:19after the 8th to win the IBF super middleweight
- 44:25title and fulfill his promise to his mom. Aww.
- 44:30I didn't know he promised his mom. Yeah, that's
- 44:34what I was trying to type the translations into
- 44:36the chat because the triple interpreter was not
- 44:41working. No. I tried my best to give better.
- 44:50Iglesias looked real good in this fight. Yeah.
- 44:54He looks stellar. I feel like there's nobody
- 44:58in the super middleweight division that's going
- 45:01to beat him. No. And now that he has a belt,
- 45:06maybe some of them will fight him. Like, it's
- 45:11more incentive to take the fight. I don't think
- 45:13so. Several people rejected this fight with it
- 45:21being a title fight. They still rejected it.
- 45:24That's true. I don't know, man. Iglesias is just
- 45:29so fucking good. I can understand why people
- 45:32don't want to fight him, but also that's your
- 45:34job. Right. You get paid a lot of money. That's
- 45:39what it's going to take. They're going to need
- 45:41a bigger financial backer than Eye of the Tiger
- 45:44to lure opponents, quality opponents in. Otherwise,
- 45:51they're just going to have Ostley defending his
- 45:53belt against mandatories, which the IBF is going
- 45:56to call fucking regularly. They're going to be
- 45:59sending lambs to the slaughter. It's going to
- 46:02be bad. If we don't get quality opposition in
- 46:07front of them to get a better gauge of just how
- 46:11good this man is, that's all we're going to have
- 46:15is Ausley's beating up fucking guys like Pavel.
- 46:22Me shrugging as largely, as highly as I can with
- 46:30who the fuck cares with beating up dudes like
- 46:34Pavel. Over and over again. Yeah. Iglesias needs
- 46:40to get out of Montreal. Like. This dude rates.
- 46:45He rates. And nobody wants to travel to Montreal
- 46:49Casino. To watch a boxing match. This man rates.
- 46:55Like what. What more do you want. I just hope.
- 47:01Eye of the Tiger is not going to hold him back.
- 47:05Because I feel like that is the biggest hinge
- 47:08of how far can we catapult Iglesias. Yeah, I
- 47:19don't know what his deal is like. Like, I don't
- 47:23know if he's signed on a long -term contract
- 47:27or anything. I hope not. I certainly hope not.
- 47:32Because... He deserves better than he's getting,
- 47:35for sure. Let's not glaze Iglesias any more than
- 47:44is necessary, because he certainly deserves it.
- 47:48I'm not fucking pretending that he doesn't, but
- 47:51we could just sit here spinning our wheels. And
- 47:55agreeing with each other. Right, talking about
- 47:57Iglesias fucking should be fighting the best.
- 48:00Of course, fucking of course he should. um let's
- 48:05move on friday april 10th pro box tv at the prudential
- 48:09center in newark new jersey um there was an interesting
- 48:14fight on here ofacio falcon no contest with tacky
- 48:20anan yeah one of them came in dressed like um
- 48:25reptile for mortal combat excellent so that was
- 48:29cool but what was funky about this whole situation
- 48:33was that one of them got like a just a really
- 48:37tiny cut on their uh eyebrow on the outside of
- 48:41their eyebrow it was bleeding on the outside
- 48:44of the cheekbone and down like the sideburn yeah
- 48:49right and then the ref waved it off anyway That's
- 48:55weird. It was really weird. Like, the blood...
- 48:58It was pooling on his, like, Adam's apple. Yeah.
- 49:04I really... Okay, you want to protect the fighters.
- 49:08I kind of get it. But at the same time... Yeah,
- 49:13that seemed like an overreaction. That was...
- 49:15Yeah, like, you're overdoing it here, buddy.
- 49:21That ref will not be coming back to Pro Box,
- 49:24I assume. I hope not. That's not his place. He
- 49:28can go to England. Go to Zufa. Moving up to the
- 49:37main event, Hebert, Konsei Sao, not related to
- 49:42Hobson. He beats Johan Gonzalez by UD. This was
- 49:52not the best Pro Box main event? No. Well, no.
- 50:01But it's kind of expected with an Olympic gold
- 50:05medalist, is it not? He's 10 -0, though. You
- 50:09would think he would have adapted to the pro
- 50:11style at this point. I would think, anyway. I
- 50:16guess, but like... He's got a lot of unanimous
- 50:19decisions as a pro. So he's going to end up in
- 50:24a situation where he's like... Like Guillermo
- 50:30Rigondeaux. Where... Fucking... Just elite technical
- 50:36talent. But just absolutely dog shit to watch.
- 50:41Yeah. Maybe, like, he's only got 10 pro fights.
- 50:46Maybe he'll adapt. Perhaps. But I am leaning
- 50:50towards he's going to stay in the amateur style
- 50:54and just be kind of boring. And besmirch the
- 51:00good name of Konsei Sao. Yeah. Moving on. We're
- 51:08going to jump around. I want to jump really quickly
- 51:11to get it out of the way. Pro Box TV at the Boardwalk
- 51:14Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It was certainly
- 51:19a Pro Box card. A little decision heavy, but
- 51:23Vito Melnicki was fine against Omar Ulysses Huerta.
- 51:32Yeah, Melnicki's good. He's fine. But he's not
- 51:37special in any way. He's good, I guess. Yeah.
- 51:47I want to jump to the Gold Star event on Netflix
- 51:54just so that we can get it out of the way because
- 51:58there's a lot more to talk about on the Taken
- 52:00card that you were at. Yeah, I have to admit
- 52:04I missed everything on this. I watched some highlights.
- 52:08Connor Ben. Disappointed. He had a wounded Regis
- 52:15Progray in front of him, and he still couldn't
- 52:18finish the fight. Did you see the Progray interviews
- 52:22afterwards? No. With all the, like, boxers tell
- 52:28stories, but Progray was talking about how injured
- 52:32he was going into the fight. and how he was thinking
- 52:36of pulling out all the way up to the fight. He
- 52:39was having eye problems, he was having hand problems,
- 52:42he was having knee problems. He's like, what
- 52:45if I go in and, like, punch him once and break
- 52:48my hand? Or what if I, like, blow out my knee?
- 52:52And he's like, I seriously considered tripping
- 52:57on purpose and landing on my hand and saying
- 52:59I couldn't fight, that my hand was injured. Goodness
- 53:03gracious. I didn't know it was that bad. Obviously,
- 53:05he didn't do any of that. But yeah, he's got
- 53:08an interview on the Pro Box podcast. What's it
- 53:11actually called? Boxing Scene? Boxing Scene Today,
- 53:15I think it is. Yeah. They interviewed him this
- 53:19week. And, like, the interview's crazy. Pro Grey
- 53:25is retired now, which he should be. Absolutely.
- 53:29But yeah, go watch the interview because it was
- 53:32really interesting seeing somebody admit all
- 53:37the things that they were thinking about before
- 53:39the fight. Because I think boxers probably have
- 53:41a lot of doubts going into fights sometimes,
- 53:45but nobody ever says it. But he said that the
- 53:49only reason he didn't pull out and he didn't
- 53:51pull some sort of stunt like that was because
- 53:54he didn't want to disappoint his son. He wanted
- 53:57to show his son that even if you're scared, you
- 54:00go and do the thing you said you would do. And
- 54:03he made it through the whole fight, like, for
- 54:09being old and apparently injured. Yeah, I mean,
- 54:16Procreate made Ben not look good. I put the blame
- 54:23solely on Connor Ben. Like Regis Progray, he
- 54:26admitted that the lingering injuries were real.
- 54:30And all we got to see was an injured Regis Progray
- 54:37try his best, all circumstances considered, and
- 54:42Conor Benn not able to push the tempo and get
- 54:47a stoppage win over a clearly troubled fighter.
- 54:53This is an indictment on Conor Benn. Not at all
- 54:58on Regis Progray. He showed up and did the best
- 55:02he could do. Whereas Conor Benn had all the advantages
- 55:07and still could not finish the job. Unacceptable.
- 55:16And that was apparently a $15 million fight for
- 55:21Conor Benn. Booty. Yeah, like I said, I only
- 55:27watched highlights, but it looked awful. It was.
- 55:33Let me go from the bottom up just to give some
- 55:36of these fighters who do deserve some time their
- 55:40due time. Elliot Whale, TKO4 over Tom Hill. Mikey
- 55:46Talon, KO1 over Christopher Rios. Fucking nice.
- 55:50Pavel August points decision over Simon Sackenhuber.
- 55:56You punk bitch. Now you're not going to get the
- 55:59fucking IBF shot. That's what you get. Felix
- 56:04Cash, TKO2 over Liam O 'Hare. Frazier Clark.
- 56:09Oh, I got this backwards. I'm pretty sure Justice
- 56:13Hooney got the fucking... Pardon me for being
- 56:18really professional. Yeah, Hooney got the mixed
- 56:21decision. Yeah, Hooney got the majority decision
- 56:24over Frazier Clark. A little bit closer than
- 56:32what I had hoped, but Frazier Clark, I think,
- 56:35is damaged goods. He's clearly not... I don't
- 56:42know. I think the Fabio Wardley fights took a
- 56:45lot out of him. Moving up. Richard Riekpore stops
- 56:53Jamie Chikeva in five to claim the British heavyweight
- 56:59title. So good on him. Like these are the stepping
- 57:04stones for the Brits. So fuck whatever gets us
- 57:08more competition in the heavyweight division.
- 57:11I'm fucking here for it. Tyson Fury. UD over
- 57:17Arslan Beck. Makhmudov. I know that what most
- 57:28people want to hear us talk about is the after
- 57:35the after part of the show where Tyson Fury's
- 57:41calling out AJ. Where he's like passing the microphone
- 57:46to AJ like I'm calling you out. Me, the Gypsy
- 57:51King, I'm calling you, Anthony Joshua, I'm calling
- 57:55you out for a fight. Fuck off. I don't know what
- 58:04you want me to say about that. Obviously, it
- 58:09was theatrics. AJ was very measured, and he was
- 58:14noncommittal. He was saying, Tyson, you're a
- 58:21clout chaser. When I'm ready, you can bring your
- 58:28proposals to me. I'm the fucking boss in this
- 58:32situation. Yeah, what was his actual line? Because
- 58:36I thought it was funny. I'm the landlord. Yep.
- 58:39Yeah. I'm the landlord. Fury did not look very
- 58:47good in this fight from what I saw. To keep it
- 58:50to the fight, Arslanbek is an opponent that was
- 58:57brought in to beat. And Tyson Fury could have
- 59:00done a lot more. And it seems like he was not
- 59:04interested in doing more. He was content with
- 59:09sitting behind his long reach and leaving it
- 59:13at that. I was not impressed with Tyson Fury's
- 59:21performance. I would prefer, if we're going to
- 59:25talk about a big AJ fight, I would prefer to
- 59:30see Deontay Wilder in the ring. Fight for fight.
- 59:35Tyson Fury vs. Arslan Beck. Deontay Wilder vs.
- 59:40Chisora. I would prefer to see Deontay Wilder
- 59:43in the ring with AJ. Tyson Fury does not interest
- 59:48me. Based on this, just based on this, the shit
- 59:53does not matter to me. I think AJ and Fury have
- 59:58to fight. It's too late, everything else, but
- 1:00:01the Brits deserve their super fight, late or
- 1:00:05not. I wouldn't mind seeing AJ and Wilder, but
- 1:00:10like... I think the British fans deserve their
- 1:00:15super fight that should have happened five years
- 1:00:17ago. They'll turn up for it. It's going to be
- 1:00:25huge when it happens. It'll be a major event.
- 1:00:29And the talk about it happening in November...
- 1:00:35If... Let's just pretend that all of the security
- 1:00:43concerns are settled by that time. This still
- 1:00:50should not take place in Saudi Arabia. No, that
- 1:00:54one has to be in the UK. If it's not in the UK,
- 1:00:58you're going to make me dislike the Saudi government
- 1:01:03even more than I already do. And that's hard.
- 1:01:07That's a fucking low bar to go under. This fight
- 1:01:15belongs in the UK. It has to be in the UK. It
- 1:01:20has to be. The fans will be fucking rabid, even
- 1:01:26though it's too late. You can't have those two
- 1:01:29fight in front of a fucking silent, half -empty
- 1:01:33Saudi crowd. I'm just still not too... I really
- 1:01:44disliked Tyson Fury's... I don't know. Lackluster?
- 1:01:52I think it may be the term. Yeah, like on...
- 1:01:57He didn't meet the moment. He didn't care. You're
- 1:02:05supposed to be building up the biggest boxing
- 1:02:11match the UK has ever seen. And this is how you
- 1:02:17do it? What, you just half -ass piece up some
- 1:02:23half -ass contender? Come on, dude. You're supposed
- 1:02:28to be the Gypsy King. You were supposed to really...
- 1:02:33Fuck this dude up. To build up the fight. Yeah.
- 1:02:39Like, Makhmudov is knockoutable. Like, his chin
- 1:02:46can be cracked. Guido Vianello beat his ass.
- 1:02:52Fucking Dave Allen did more damage than Tyson
- 1:02:57Fury did, I swear to God. Disappointing. Best
- 1:03:03I can put it. This isn't the build -up for AJ,
- 1:03:12Tyson Fury in November. This isn't it. I'm sure
- 1:03:17AJ can pull something together. Like, AJ Wilder?
- 1:03:24Holy shit. That's build -up. But... Yeah. But
- 1:03:30that's dangerous for AJ, I think. I would put
- 1:03:34my money on AJ, but if Wilder lands, Wilder lands.
- 1:03:39We already talked about it. We do it in Discord.
- 1:03:43I'm riding with Wilder. You cannot keep me from
- 1:03:47riding with the American, even though I think
- 1:03:51AJ is going to win. Yeah, but you've got to back
- 1:03:54your guy. Yeah, he's my boy. I have to. But Tyson
- 1:03:59Fury versus Arslanbek? You did, like, fuck all
- 1:04:04to really get me excited for a fight with AJ.
- 1:04:10Yeah, I agree. That was a very disappointing
- 1:04:13performance. But let's leave that there. Also,
- 1:04:21on Saturday, April 11th, we had Taken at the
- 1:04:29Ryogoku... kokugikan in sumida tokyo yes in all
- 1:04:36honesty this card was a fucking bust was it yeah
- 1:04:41the card itself so uh the one fight was canceled
- 1:04:46uh kosuke i'm drawing a blank on his last name
- 1:04:52uh failed the doctor's uh checkup the morning
- 1:04:58of the fight or the night before. I can't remember
- 1:05:01when they canceled it. But I will give Japan
- 1:05:05credit for time fill. So they just moved all
- 1:05:11the fights back, which I preferred, like a later
- 1:05:15start. They kept playing videos on the big screen
- 1:05:21of Tenchin crying, which made me very happy.
- 1:05:26so happy just fucking it was him sadly training
- 1:05:31in some public park by himself and scenes of
- 1:05:35him crying after losing and i was like yes whoever
- 1:05:38made this promotional video hates him as much
- 1:05:41as i do like it was fucking great that's nice
- 1:05:46he got yeah it was just him getting the Piss
- 1:05:50beat out of him by Takuma, him crying afterwards
- 1:05:53and him sadly training in a park by himself.
- 1:05:56But do you know what manzai is? No. It's the
- 1:06:00Japanese comedy duos. So there's like a stupid
- 1:06:04guy and a smart guy and they do like skits. They
- 1:06:11hired a manzai group to come and do 20 minutes
- 1:06:15of boxing related manzai jokes. To fill time.
- 1:06:21What? Because, yeah, so the cancellation was
- 1:06:24early that morning or the night before, I can't
- 1:06:27remember. They must have just called these guys
- 1:06:28up and like, can you put together boxing skits?
- 1:06:33So they had them come out. We need half an hour.
- 1:06:36We need a tight 30. Can you hook it up? Yeah,
- 1:06:39I don't think it was 30, but like, it was clearly
- 1:06:43rushed. and i didn't understand all of it because
- 1:06:46of course it's in japanese but the basis of the
- 1:06:49jokes was the smart guy trying to teach the dumb
- 1:06:53guy how to introduce boxers so like okay i'll
- 1:06:57do the blue corner you do the red corner and
- 1:07:00boxing has so much english like even when it's
- 1:07:04in japanese all the weight classes and stuff
- 1:07:06are in english and so the smart guy would do
- 1:07:10it and he'd do a good job and then the dumb guy
- 1:07:12would get to the english words And it was just
- 1:07:15gibberish. And he's like, no, no, no. And the
- 1:07:22guy's like, It sounds really stupid, but instead
- 1:07:32of just dead air, it was actually pretty entertaining.
- 1:07:36But the first fight was super fun. against Beltran.
- 1:07:44I quite enjoyed it. But then my guy... My guy
- 1:07:50got jobbed, I swear to God. I saw that pinched
- 1:07:54Italian fingers. I'd been hanging out with the
- 1:07:57Italian too much. But... So, Jose Calderon fights
- 1:08:02in Japan a lot. He's fought here, like, three
- 1:08:07or four times in the last couple years. Yeah.
- 1:08:11The Japanese have like a stranglehold on the
- 1:08:13lower weight classes. And so Katsuma Akatsugi,
- 1:08:18his first fight in Japan, because he fucked off
- 1:08:21to America to start his boxing career, hadn't
- 1:08:25been back because he's trying to get American
- 1:08:27citizenship. Got tattoos. You've got a couple
- 1:08:32of tattoos. Dirty fucker. Yeah. Like, it was
- 1:08:36a very close fight. But I said it in the chat
- 1:08:40while it was happening. I'm like, if this is
- 1:08:42close at all, Akitsugi's not getting a decision.
- 1:08:47Yeah, you're right. Because I'm a fan, so I'm
- 1:08:52biased. But he could have won that fight. Like,
- 1:08:56it would not have been out to lunch for him to
- 1:08:58have gotten a nod. Majority decision, though.
- 1:09:01Like, that is super close. Yes. But... They picked
- 1:09:08the Mexican dude that fights in Japan. I'm just
- 1:09:16saying. I knew if it was close he wasn't going
- 1:09:18to get it. The JBC hates people that leave. And
- 1:09:23then they wonder why people leave. Yeah. I do
- 1:09:28think Akitsugi maybe felt the pressure a little.
- 1:09:32Like of the moment. because he didn't throw as
- 1:09:37many punches as usual. He was really good in
- 1:09:41the opening rounds, but then Calderon came on
- 1:09:44late. Yeah. Is what I would say. But Akitsugi
- 1:09:49usually is the late guy. Yeah. Yeah. So I think
- 1:09:55he still did well. Honestly, it was the most
- 1:09:58fun fight of the night. Oh, God. By far. By far.
- 1:10:03But I was disappointed. I really wanted my guy
- 1:10:07to get the win in Japan. But he didn't. And then
- 1:10:16the Tomoya -Suboi -Pedro -Gavara fight ended
- 1:10:20in the second round with a really weird head
- 1:10:23clash. That one was kind of scary. I don't know
- 1:10:27how much they showed on the broadcast, but Gavara
- 1:10:29got stretchered out. Yeah, they didn't show him
- 1:10:34getting put on the stretcher, but they did show,
- 1:10:36like, they showed him getting, they showed the
- 1:10:40headbutt, they showed him going down. It was
- 1:10:43really clear that something was wrong. Yeah,
- 1:10:48I know people were talking shit that the ref
- 1:10:51was giving him his five minutes. Probably didn't
- 1:10:56need to give him his five minutes. I haven't
- 1:11:00heard any updates, though, of whether he was
- 1:11:02actually hurt, like, furiously or not. Still,
- 1:11:07it's a nasty, nasty headbutt. Yeah, and when
- 1:11:12they put him on the stretcher, they wrapped him
- 1:11:14burrito -style in a pink blankie, which I thought
- 1:11:17was kind of funny. Just to add a little insult
- 1:11:22to injury. I mean, not to make fun of an injured
- 1:11:27fighter, but... It was kind of funny. It is.
- 1:11:32It is kind of funny. But yeah, so one fight I
- 1:11:36was excited about was cancelled. I was excited
- 1:11:38about this one and it ends in a weird head clash
- 1:11:41in the second. My guy Akatsugi lost and there
- 1:11:47were Calderon chants. I was disappointed in the
- 1:11:50Japanese crowd. Not what I would expect. They
- 1:11:57showed Mrs. Akitsugi a lot. Yeah. I think it's
- 1:12:05nice that he found love in America, but I suppose
- 1:12:10the Japanese probably don't like that either.
- 1:12:12Race traitor. We have a declining birth rate
- 1:12:16here and you're marrying this not Japanese person?
- 1:12:20And living in a different country? And learning
- 1:12:24other languages? How dare you? I wonder why we
- 1:12:31have a declining birth rate. And then the main
- 1:12:36event made me sad. Why did it make you sad, Janada?
- 1:12:43Because Estrada got broken ribs. And he's an
- 1:12:49old man. He doesn't need that shit. was it broken
- 1:12:52ribs is that what it was it was broken ribs yeah
- 1:12:55as soon as he was in the corner the way he was
- 1:12:58sitting um so i guess that was in the patreon
- 1:13:02it was super random i ran into some mexican americans
- 1:13:06from phoenix at the fight and they were sitting
- 1:13:10in my section and actually um the person in the
- 1:13:14seat beside them never came so for the main event
- 1:13:17i actually did something I'm not supposed to
- 1:13:20and changed my seats and sat with them so we
- 1:13:22could cheer for Estrada. But as soon as they
- 1:13:26showed him in the corner, the way he was sitting,
- 1:13:29I was like, that's broken ribs. And then he retired
- 1:13:33in the corner in the ninth. But you could see,
- 1:13:36like, you know how people sit funny when their
- 1:13:40ribs are broken? And then they put ice on it.
- 1:13:44The trainer put ice on his ribs and I was like,
- 1:13:46fuck, this is over. Like, I didn't know he was
- 1:13:50retiring yet, but as soon as they did that, I
- 1:13:53was like, that's broken ribs. He's just, if he
- 1:13:57goes out, he's just going to get beat up. That
- 1:14:00was a hard one. I was... It wasn't as hard as
- 1:14:04the Quadris one. That one was just fucking sad.
- 1:14:08Oh, that was brutality. That was... Estrada was
- 1:14:13not winning. But he was doing fine at the start.
- 1:14:20He's not in his peak at all. But he wasn't completely
- 1:14:25washed. He was competitive despite being behind.
- 1:14:32Despite losing. Being behind for the majority
- 1:14:37of the rounds. Yeah. He was doing his best. I'm
- 1:14:45really shrugging my shoulders trying to be like,
- 1:14:48yeah, he was doing good. He's just old. Yeah.
- 1:14:53It happens. He's past his time. 36 is really
- 1:15:00old for 118. Like, not many people do it that
- 1:15:05long. Yeah. Yeah, you're right. I have been on
- 1:15:10a bad run of watching old men get beat up. But
- 1:15:18it made me sad. I was sad to see Estrada get
- 1:15:24beat like that too. I really thought he could
- 1:15:29do it. I thought if he wobbled tension, he could
- 1:15:35take advantage. But he just never landed that
- 1:15:38punch. He never got the momentum on his side.
- 1:15:42Yeah. And he's old. I do not expect Estrada to
- 1:15:47be fighting through broken ribs at this age.
- 1:15:52Back in the day, he would have. Well, they probably
- 1:15:55wouldn't have broken, but... Anything more for
- 1:15:58the recaps before we roll on? No. I'm really
- 1:16:03glad I ran into the Americans because just as
- 1:16:07a boxing card, this was a bit of a bust, to be
- 1:16:10honest. There was really only one good fight
- 1:16:13on the whole card. And that didn't go your way
- 1:16:17either. No, but it was a good fight. That was
- 1:16:21a good entertaining fight. Yeah. And Akatsugi's
- 1:16:26been putting up pictures of him visiting all
- 1:16:29his relatives. He went and saw his grandmother
- 1:16:31that he hasn't seen in over a decade. Oh, no.
- 1:16:34That sounds amazing. I want to see that. Yeah,
- 1:16:38it's up on his Instagram. All right. I'll check
- 1:16:41that out. That's beautiful. It's actually a really,
- 1:16:44like, kind of sad post. Because she's really
- 1:16:49old and, like, it's a picture of her in bed and
- 1:16:52him talking to her. And he's like, the last time
- 1:16:54I saw you, you were so lively. And, like, he's
- 1:16:58up in his feels. All the years that we missed,
- 1:17:00yeah. Yeah, he's up in his feels on the caption.
- 1:17:04Oh, boy. That's unfortunate. Okay, not quite
- 1:17:08as sweet as I had hoped. Shall we roll on the
- 1:17:17phone line? 833 -589 -7637. I want to hear what
- 1:17:24you have to say. What did you think of Tyson
- 1:17:26Fury and his performance against Makhmudov? 833

- 1:21:56Let's see. Thursday, April 23rd. There's a whole
- 1:22:03bunch of bullshit on this card that I don't care
- 1:22:05about. We've got Jason Maloney versus Andre Donovan.
- 1:22:11I don't know who Andre Donovan is. Should I?
- 1:22:15No. Doesn't really matter. Yeah. Probably not
- 1:22:24excited about this one. This weekend is not great.
- 1:22:29Let's see. Saturday, April 25th. Primetime Fight
- 1:22:34Night Volume 8 at the Sidbank Arena in Kolding,
- 1:22:40Denmark. Jakob Bank versus Paulinus in Jolunimu.
- 1:22:50Nailed it. Fuck. That was a tough one. But it's...
- 1:22:59Yaku Bank, like, that's the only reason we're
- 1:23:01paying attention to this shit in the first place.
- 1:23:04Fighting in his home country? Crowd might be
- 1:23:08fun. As he has been for the last few fights.
- 1:23:12Fair. And the crowd has been pretty good. Namibia.
- 1:23:19You don't see very many boxers out of Namibia.
- 1:23:22You remember Julius Ndongo? Yeah. Was he? He
- 1:23:27was Namibian. He was the blue machine because
- 1:23:32he was a cop. And then he got fucking wrecked
- 1:23:38by Terrence Crawford. Hilarious. Moving on. Queensberry
- 1:23:46at the Adidas Arena in Paris, France. They're
- 1:23:52pitching this as a... a double header, but I'm
- 1:23:59only watching Laurence Acoli versus Tony Yoka.
- 1:24:03That's about all that matters to me. Nothing
- 1:24:08on the underbill. Whatever. Yeah. This is definitely
- 1:24:15not a Shinada card. No. At all. I don't know
- 1:24:21any of these names. Other than Acoli and Yoka.
- 1:24:25A lot of Frenchmen. That's fine. And last bit.
- 1:24:31Matchroom on DAZN at the Fontainebleau in Las
- 1:24:35Vegas. Again, a bunch of shit. Well, never mind.
- 1:24:42Everything is worth the skip. Nishant Dev versus
- 1:24:46Juan Carlos Guerra. That's a super welterweight
- 1:24:50fight. So that's nice. That's about it on the
- 1:24:56undercard. Gerald Miller. Hairpiece man himself.
- 1:25:02Nice. Versus Lanier Pero. Pero is the Cuban,
- 1:25:11right? Yeah. Cuban 33. How old do you think he
- 1:25:17actually is? 38. El Justicero. Nice. Honestly,
- 1:25:27this is just going to be big guys throwing haymakers.
- 1:25:31Might be fun. Might be. As Josh likes to put
- 1:25:36it, this is his vice. Big boys bumping beef.
- 1:25:42That's gross. It is. I really hate that description.
- 1:25:46Not to yuck anyone's yum, but that's gross. That's
- 1:25:50a gross description. You're absolutely right.
- 1:25:55Well, you and Josh can discuss this, but... That's
- 1:26:02all we got on the docket. It's a late weekend.
- 1:26:06It is. It's a good weekend to... Like, the...
- 1:26:10The Queensberry card is in the morning, or like
- 1:26:15in midday, and then towards the evening you got
- 1:26:18the Matchroom card. Both of these, like, if you've
- 1:26:22got other shit going on, on... Your Saturday,
- 1:26:25like, go do that, dude. Catch up on these on
- 1:26:28Sunday. I actually do have plans that day. Well,
- 1:26:33do that instead. I have talked a bunch of the
- 1:26:38international students into checking out a beer
- 1:26:41festival. We will see how that goes. Yeah. That
- 1:26:46sounds fun. It's very international. We have
- 1:26:49Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Brazilian. Turkish.
- 1:26:55We got quite a crew arranged. I'm kind of excited.
- 1:27:09So, as we head into this fucking weekend, parting
- 1:27:18words. Parting words. Summer's Starting -ish
- 1:27:26or soon. Check out a festival in your local area.
- 1:27:31There are more festivals than people think. Food
- 1:27:34festivals, music festivals, whatever. Beer festivals.
- 1:27:39Beer festivals, whiskey festivals. Go find some
- 1:27:44festival in your local area. I will guarantee
- 1:27:47there's a food truck festival sometime this month.
- 1:27:50Oh, hell yeah. I know there is. There are multiple
- 1:27:53in my city. Like multiple times a year. Yeah.
- 1:27:58Go to a craft festival. They usually have those
- 1:28:01in the summer too. Comic festival. Whatever your
- 1:28:06thing is. That's my advice. Because I'm hitting
- 1:28:10up a bunch of festivals before I leave Japan.
- 1:28:14Well. I don't have much to add. I will leave
- 1:28:18it at that. The. Boxing Before Dark crew, we
- 1:28:22are out of here. Bye. Why should a boxing fan
- 1:28:42watch MMA? Okay, here's my pitch. The reason
- 1:28:49that a boxing... fan would consider watching
- 1:28:51mma in the year of our lord 2026 is that mma
- 1:28:55is cheaper and more accessible than it's ever
- 1:28:57been in its lifetime our biggest organization
- 1:29:00the ufc has done away with pay -per -views it's
- 1:29:03now just like a 15 month payment to paramount
- 1:29:07plus and you get 40 plus fight cards a year and
- 1:29:12it's not just the ufc you have organizations
- 1:29:15like 1fc and ryzen that put stuff directly on
- 1:29:19youtube for free to watch and you're able to
- 1:29:23see a wide variety of high level skills like
- 1:29:26this is not just like amateur or unless we're
- 1:29:29talking about the heavyweight division but boxing
- 1:29:32fans can relate to uh the gap of skill there
- 1:29:34um you know these are some of the most talented
- 1:29:38athletes in the world and they're fighting especially
- 1:29:40if i can point out the muay thai stuff that happens
- 1:29:43in 1fc it's phenomenal another reason that a
- 1:29:47boxing fan would want this would want to jump
- 1:29:50in now is that i think unlike a lot of the cards
- 1:29:53you're used to watching in boxing mma cards are
- 1:29:58worth watching from the start like you don't
- 1:30:01have to wait until the co -main to see something
- 1:30:03that isn't complete nerd most of the times you're
- 1:30:06seeing even if it's a lower skill feeling, you're
- 1:30:12still seeing fights that are exciting and compelling
- 1:30:15to watch. We just came off the backs of UFC 327
- 1:30:19and that card top to bottom was absolutely stacked.
- 1:30:23Great example. You can watch the whole thing
- 1:30:27in bits and pieces or from start to finish on
- 1:30:31Paramount Plus right now if you subscribe. Paramount,
- 1:30:34give us some money. We're doing marketing for
- 1:30:37you. That would be my pitch. Perfect. If you
- 1:30:40do decide to give MMA a shot, then why don't
- 1:30:43you check out Ultimate F 'n Casuals? It's kind
- 1:30:45of the same format. We talked the fights that
- 1:30:47happened the past weekend and then the stuff
- 1:30:49coming up this weekend. Give it a shot. It's
- 1:30:52Ultimate F 'n Casuals.
