  I'm thinking today of a short passage in James

  chapter 2. It begins with verse 9. It says, but

  if you show partiality, that means if you look
• 0:08
  like toward the rich people and you treat them
• 0:10
  well, or you treat only those people who treat
• 0:12
  you well, well, that kind of thing. It says,

  if you show partiality like that, you are committing
• 0:18
  sin and you are convicted by the law as transgressors
• 0:22
  for or because whoever keeps the whole law and
• 0:25
  yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty
• 0:27
  of all. For he who said, do not commit adultery,
• 0:30
  also said, do not commit murder. Now, if you
• 0:32
  do not commit adultery, but do commit murder,
• 0:34
  you have become a transgressor of the law. So
• 0:37
  speak and so act as those who are to be judged
• 0:40
  by the law of liberty. So this is the point.

  God has given us many instructions. They are
• 0:45
  the way that we will best honor him. They are
• 0:47
  the way that we will live our best life. He came
• 0:50
  and died that we might have life and have it
• 0:52
  more abundantly. And following the directions
• 0:54
  of our God, he is Lord, is the way to get there.

  But if you break one point, you would then be
• 1:00
  guilty of all of it. So if you showed partiality
• 1:03
  towards someone, if you lusted after someone,
• 1:06
  if you murdered someone, someone or showed anger
• 1:07
  or had anger in your heart toward a brother that's
• 1:10
  the same as murder those things then you would
• 1:11
  be guilty of all of it So you need a Savior.

  No one's perfect, and no one's going to get it
• 1:16
  right at all during this lifetime, but you need
• 1:18
  Jesus, and Jesus is Lord, and that means he tells
• 1:20
  us what to do, and we do it, and he's Savior.
• 1:22
  That means he paid the price for our sins, and
• 1:23
  that overcomes our judgment as transgressors,
• 1:28
  and we are justified. We live now just as if
• 1:31
  we had never sinned, and we try to live the best
• 1:33
  we know how and follow the directions because
• 1:35
  we don't want to be transgressors, but at the
• 1:37
  same time, we realize that it's in Jesus that
• 1:39
  we're saved.
