- 0:00Hi everyone, welcome back to Mentor365 and today's topic is on setting boundaries without guilt.
- 0:08So we're going to talk about something that can be completely changing your
- 0:14life, your relationship, and your peace of mind.
- 0:18So we're going to talk about setting boundaries without guilt.
- 0:22So now, whenever people hear the word boundaries, they often think about saying no.
- 0:28And boundaries sometimes involve saying no there are so much more than that,
- 0:35because boundaries are not all not not wall not our walls not wall gosh i can't even talk tonight.
- 0:43This is a little bit tired boundaries are not walls that keep people out right
- 0:47so boundaries are guidelines that teach people how to treat you so,
- 0:52they are a form of self-respect they are a way of protecting your time,
- 0:56your energy, your values, and your well-being.
- 0:59So the challenge is that many of us were never taught how to set healthy boundaries.
- 1:06So we were taught to be available, we were taught to be accommodating,
- 1:10we were taught to avoid disappointing people, and we were taught to keep everyone happy.
- 1:16But because of that, many people grow up believing that saying no is rude,
- 1:22that prioritizing themselves is very selfish and that protecting their peace is somehow wrong.
- 1:29But the truth is boundaries are not selfish. Boundaries are healthy.
- 1:33In fact, every healthy relationship has boundaries.
- 1:38Think about it for a moment, right? Healthy relationship requires honesty.
- 1:43Healthy relationship requires respect. Healthy relationship require mutual understanding and.
- 1:50Boundaries are a way to help create all of those things.
- 1:55And without boundaries, there's resentment grows, frustration builds,
- 2:02and expectations become unclear, and relationship begins to suffer.
- 2:08So boundaries are not designed to hurt the relationship.
- 2:12They are designed to strengthen them. So one of the biggest reasons people struggle,
- 2:17with boundaries is guilt.
- 2:19So they worry about how others will react.
- 2:22They worry about being misunderstood and they worry about disappointing people.
- 2:27And sometimes they worry about being seen as selfish.
- 2:32But let me ask you something very clearly. How often have you said yes when you wanted to say no?
- 2:39How often have you overextended yourself because you felt responsible for someone else's feelings?
- 2:46How often have you sacrificed your own peace just to avoid making someone uncomfortable,
- 2:53right so many people do this so often they don't,
- 2:57like they stop recognizing it and they feel like they feel or they become exhausted
- 3:04or they are overwhelmed or they're emotionally drained so,
- 3:09eventually they start feeling disconnected from themselves, not because they
- 3:13don't care about others,
- 3:15but because they have forgotten how to care for themselves.
- 3:20So healing teaches you something important.
- 3:23You are responsible for your choices. You are responsible for your actions.
- 3:29But you are not responsible for managing everyone's emotions.
- 3:33So the realization can be life-changing.
- 3:37You can be kind without saying yes to everything. You can be compassionate without
- 3:44abandoning your own needs.
- 3:46So you can love people deeply and still have boundaries.
- 3:50Those things are not opposites. They can exist together.
- 3:53One of the most powerful things you can learn is that every time you set a healthy
- 3:58boundary, you are teaching yourself that your needs matter too.
- 4:03You are reminding yourself that your time has value. You are reminding yourself
- 4:08that your energy is important.
- 4:10You're reminding yourself that your well-being deserves protection.
- 4:14And that is not selfish. That is self-respect.
- 4:17Now, setting boundaries does not mean everyone will like them.
- 4:23And this is where many people struggle with.
- 4:25Sometimes when you start setting boundaries, people become uncomfortable,
- 4:31not because your boundaries are wrong.
- 4:34It's because they were benefiting from the absence of them.
- 4:38So people become accustomed to certain patterns.
- 4:42They become accustomed to unlimited access. They become accustomed to you always saying yes.
- 4:49And when that changes, it surprises them.
- 4:54But someone else's discomfort does not automatically mean you are doing something wrong.
- 5:00Read that again in your spirit or in your free time.
- 5:04Okay, someone else's discomfort does not automatically mean you are doing something wrong.
- 5:11Sometimes it just simply means that the relationship is adjusting to a healthier dynamic.
- 5:19Healthy dynamics require adjustment and faith plays an important role here because
- 5:27setting boundaries often requires trust.
- 5:30Trusting that you don't have to earn love by overextending yourself,
- 5:34trusting that healthy people will respect your limits, trusting that God did
- 5:38not create you to carry burdens that were never yours to carry.
- 5:43So trusting that protecting your peace is a part of honoring the life you have been given,
- 5:49there are times when boundaries will feel uncomfortable you may feel guilty
- 5:54you may second guess yourself,
- 5:56you may off you know all wonder if you just go back to the way things were but
- 6:04growth often feels uncomfortable before it feels natural the same boundary that feels you know,
- 6:12difficult today may become second nature tomorrow and the same no that feels
- 6:18awkward today may feel empowering in the future.
- 6:21So the more you practice, the stronger you become.
- 6:24The stronger you become, the easier it is to remain in line with your values.
- 6:29And another thing I want you to remember is that boundaries are not only about other people.
- 6:35Sometimes boundaries are with yourself, sometimes around your time,
- 6:41boundaries around your habits, boundaries, or around what you consume online.
- 6:47And boundaries around how much negativity you allow into your life or into your day.
- 6:54Boundaries around your own behaviors
- 6:58and patterns because growth requires personal responsibility too.
- 7:03And as you continue healing forward, I want you to give yourself permission
- 7:07to stop apologizing for protecting your peace.
- 7:11Stop apologizing for needing rest. Stop apologizing for having limits.
- 7:17Stop apologizing about your well-being and you don't have to explain every boundaries.
- 7:23You don't have to defend every decisions and you don't have to convince everyone to understand you.
- 7:29Sometimes your responsibility is simply to be clear, respectful, and consistent.
- 7:35That is enough. The people who truly respect you will learn to respect your
- 7:40boundaries and the people who genuinely care about your well-being.
- 7:44Will want you to be healthy and the people who are meant to remain in your life
- 7:49will adjust to the healthy version of you so if you are having or been struggling
- 7:55with guilt let this be your reminder you are allowed to say no,
- 8:00you are allowed to protect your peace,
- 8:02you are allowed to protect your energy you are allowed to choose peace and you are allowed to,
- 8:09prioritize your well-being and you are allowed to create a life that reflects
- 8:13the respect you have for yourself so because boundaries are not barriers to
- 8:19love they are foundations for healthy love,
- 8:22they are not signs of rejection they are not signs of self-awareness they are,
- 8:27they are not something to feel guilty about so,
- 8:31They are something to embrace. So keep growing. Keep honoring yourself.
- 8:36Keep protecting your peace. And trust that every healthy boundary you set is
- 8:41helping you to build a healthier life.
- 8:44So I hope this helps. Thank you so much for listening, guys.
- 8:47I'm sorry. I'm just a little tired today.
- 8:49I have to get ready to go to work tomorrow with a 12-hour shift at the hospital.
- 8:53I just want to throw this one in there before I go to bed tonight.
- 8:56But anyway, God bless. Take care. I love you guys.
