Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Direct from Hollywood. So when Taylor Swift releases a music video,
- 0:05Speaker 1: it's an event. I mean, look at her YouTube channel alone.
- 0:08Speaker 1: She's rapped up forty three point five billion views total,
- 0:12Speaker 1: and that's not even considering all the other places fans
- 0:15Speaker 1: can stream her videos. And she's about to pick up
- 0:18Speaker 1: a lot more views because this morning her latest video
- 0:21Speaker 1: for Opelite arrived and the reaction has already been beyond huge.
- 0:25Speaker 1: But interestingly, Taylor opted to do her video drop a
- 0:28Speaker 1: little differently this time around. While most artists debut their
- 0:32Speaker 1: video on YouTube, not necessarily exclusively, Taylor has opt to
- 0:36Speaker 1: hold off putting Opalite on YouTube for at least the
- 0:40Speaker 1: first forty eight hours of its release, and that probably
- 0:43Speaker 1: comes down to a controversial decision YouTube made back in
- 0:46Speaker 1: December to no longer provide data to Billboard, basically in protests.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Billboard had previously announced their video and music charts would
- 0:54Speaker 1: give more weight to page streams than at supported streams,
- 0:58Speaker 1: and YouTube was not happy. So Taylor's team probably decided
- 1:01Speaker 1: the open Liite video would start its life where the
- 1:04Speaker 1: streams get counted. You can watch it now at Taylorswift
