- 0:47Speaker 1: up in West Memphis, Arkansas. She's here today to talk
- 0:50Speaker 1: about her new book, You Will Win, Inspirational Strategies to
- 0:54Speaker 1: help you Overcome. Please welcome to Money Making Conversations to
- 0:57Speaker 1: Kalin Carr. How are you doing? I'm well, how are
- 1:04Speaker 1: you pretty? Were? Okay? First of all, listen to everybody
- 1:06Speaker 1: know you're twenty years old. And I'm not saying that's
- 1:09Speaker 1: the bad thing because I got right after the interview
- 1:12Speaker 1: is gonna followup Aarrton Gavin. He's only twenty three years old.
- 1:16Speaker 1: And so this is my life, my my little millennial run,
- 1:19Speaker 1: you know, this little run of people who got it
- 1:22Speaker 1: real early. Because in college, I'll tell you when twenty
- 1:25Speaker 1: years old, I had a lot of great ideas. I
- 1:28Speaker 1: couldn't hardly put it on paper, but I just didn't
- 1:31Speaker 1: know twentyyears twenty years old, I gotta ask you this,
- 1:35Speaker 1: what made you? I know because I read about your parents,
- 1:40Speaker 1: But what made you have a clear understanding that you
- 1:42Speaker 1: had a path that you can write a book that
- 1:46Speaker 1: will inspire people? You know what? I knew that one
- 1:51Speaker 1: day I would write a book, um, and I just
- 1:54Speaker 1: didn't know that You Will Win would be my first one.
- 1:57Speaker 1: And so actually the pushing, the motivation behind the book
- 2:01Speaker 1: was I traveled the world and I begin to hear
- 2:04Speaker 1: people tell me their situations and things that was going
- 2:07Speaker 1: on in their lives, and the things as though they
- 2:09Speaker 1: were allowing their situations to win over them when it's
- 2:13Speaker 1: supposed to be the other way around. And so, um,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I just wanted to know what what what is it
- 2:19Speaker 1: that Jaqualin Carr is supposed to release to the world
- 2:22Speaker 1: and help them get back up again. And the message
- 2:25Speaker 1: came and you will win, just really challenging people to
- 2:29Speaker 1: tap into the champion on the inside of them, helping
- 2:32Speaker 1: them to understand that you don't have to become a winner.
- 2:34Speaker 1: You was born a winner. All you have to do
- 2:37Speaker 1: is tap into that champion and unleash their champion from
- 2:40Speaker 1: out of you. And sometimes it takes you getting connected
- 2:43Speaker 1: to some champions so that they can challenge you and
- 2:46Speaker 1: pulled the best out of you and not the worst.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Because if all you are around is defeating people, you're
- 2:51Speaker 1: around is all you see is seekness and and and
- 2:54Speaker 1: poverty and just lack, that's what that's gonna rub up
- 2:57Speaker 1: on your life as well. But when you make up
- 2:59Speaker 1: in your mind that you want to win and you
- 3:01Speaker 1: want to succeed, you got to break from that and
- 3:04Speaker 1: get around some people that can really push you into
- 3:07Speaker 1: that great that place of greatness because you were designed
- 3:11Speaker 1: to win an overcoming life. And so that's just a
- 3:14Speaker 1: message in general, and the motivation behind the message you
- 3:19Speaker 1: will win, getting people to see themselves as champions the
- 3:23Speaker 1: way that they were created to live as Now A
- 3:28Speaker 1: note on that is that you were talking about people
- 3:31Speaker 1: constantly see allowed defeat are dark moments? Are failures? Are fears? Now,
- 3:38Speaker 1: because you've been speaking since you were ten, over a decade,
- 3:42Speaker 1: you now that you just just start talking. Now we
- 3:43Speaker 1: can tell by your opening speech. You know, I just
- 3:46Speaker 1: shut up when I'm not interrupted that she paused because
- 3:52Speaker 1: you can talk. Girl was passed the play in my
- 3:54Speaker 1: radio booth. You know, the beauty of what I'm saying
- 3:58Speaker 1: that to you is that articulating Because you've traveled a lot,
- 4:03Speaker 1: and you've been able to hear people because you're you know,
- 4:05Speaker 1: you're in a motivational world, and and and and also
- 4:09Speaker 1: the gospel or the the the church world that's a
- 4:13Speaker 1: lot of saddest tends to tend to be a major
- 4:16Speaker 1: story to be told. How can you help me? You know?
- 4:19Speaker 1: How can I get me? It's God here in my
- 4:22Speaker 1: prayers too, And and it's really about you talking about
- 4:26Speaker 1: look inside yourself and stop allowing. I won't use the
- 4:29Speaker 1: word excuse because I want I don't want to insult anybody,
- 4:32Speaker 1: but but don't allow yourself to fail when guess what
- 4:37Speaker 1: if you just start putting the plan in place, and
- 4:39Speaker 1: that's what you win. It's all about, and that's what
- 4:41Speaker 1: I found and it's found on that a little bit.
- 4:44Speaker 1: The plan, the plan that you then when you put
- 4:46Speaker 1: this book together, because it's it's articulating, you have all
- 4:49Speaker 1: you have a model at twenty years old, you put
- 4:52Speaker 1: together a model of winning, a model of victory. For
- 4:55Speaker 1: anybody who reads this book, you know absolutely. And I
- 4:59Speaker 1: think at the root of that problem is a lot
- 5:02Speaker 1: of times when we try and we start to plan,
- 5:06Speaker 1: we start to work on our visions and our goals,
- 5:08Speaker 1: and we've failed over and over again, and people feel like, well,
- 5:12Speaker 1: because I failed before, you know, just to me doing
- 5:15Speaker 1: it again. But even in the book, I help you
- 5:17Speaker 1: to understand that the point the problem is not in
- 5:21Speaker 1: your failing. The problem is is in you not trying.
- 5:25Speaker 1: And what we have to understand is that everybody is
- 5:28Speaker 1: not gonna get it on the first try. Sick and try,
- 5:30Speaker 1: third try, fourth try. You know, some people it takes
- 5:33Speaker 1: a minute, but as long as you continue to work,
- 5:36Speaker 1: it's all about being consistent and persistent. But in order
- 5:40Speaker 1: for you to be consistent and persistent, you have to
- 5:42Speaker 1: believe in yourself. You know, you have to believe in
- 5:45Speaker 1: yourself that it doesn't matter how many knows you here,
- 5:48Speaker 1: It doesn't matter how many you can't accomplish this, because
- 5:51Speaker 1: no one else in your family accomplished this. You come
- 5:54Speaker 1: from this type of community, this type of neighborhood, Your
- 5:57Speaker 1: path look like this. But when you believe in herself
- 6:00Speaker 1: enough to want to push beyond all of that negativity,
- 6:04Speaker 1: you will continue to work, You'll continue to plan and
- 6:07Speaker 1: keep pushing until you reach your finish line. And and
- 6:10Speaker 1: in my book, I explained that as having a winning attitude,
- 6:15Speaker 1: you know it doesn't matter what you see and defeat
- 6:18Speaker 1: maybe all around you. And one thing you have to
- 6:20Speaker 1: understand too, is that you can't do nothing about your past.
- 6:23Speaker 1: You can't do anything about how many times you've been
- 6:26Speaker 1: defeated in your past, but you can do something about
- 6:29Speaker 1: now and moving forward to make up in your mind
- 6:32Speaker 1: that I will never be defeated again. Every day is
- 6:35Speaker 1: not gonna be all sunshiny and all of that, But
- 6:38Speaker 1: at the end of the day, I'm not going to
- 6:39Speaker 1: allow my cloudiness and my rain interfere with my working
- 6:43Speaker 1: and my plan. Why Because I believe in myself enough
- 6:47Speaker 1: to know that I'm going to win it's to really
- 6:50Speaker 1: I want to point out a couple of things in there,
- 6:51Speaker 1: because she broke everything in principles and in our chapters
- 6:55Speaker 1: and the under the intentional victory she was in this lane.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I want to build up defining and win, and I
- 7:00Speaker 1: would just need to defining the win. It's really really
- 7:03Speaker 1: key because a lot of people they what's a win?
- 7:06Speaker 1: A win is, you know, dropping a loser friend who's
- 7:11Speaker 1: holding you back, you know, dropping a bad boyfriend, our girlfriend. Okay, uh,
- 7:17Speaker 1: getting a divorce sometimes that that that situation need, that's
- 7:21Speaker 1: that's a win. You know. You know, a win is
- 7:25Speaker 1: you know, it's not all about paying off your debt.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Sometimes it's now you know, it's if you're a job
- 7:30Speaker 1: that you don't want to be in anymore, you just
- 7:32Speaker 1: keep going. Defining the win is putting the application someplace else. Absolutely,
- 7:39Speaker 1: and that is very imperative to your winning journey. Um
- 7:43Speaker 1: and and and really a lot of us were winning
- 7:46Speaker 1: and we don't even know we're winning because a lot
- 7:48Speaker 1: of times weekend we failed because we compare our wins
- 7:52Speaker 1: to natural circumstances such as games and events and awards
- 7:56Speaker 1: and all of these different things. But what you have
- 7:58Speaker 1: to understand is that in a game, only one team
- 8:01Speaker 1: can win. But when you are doing what you're supposed
- 8:04Speaker 1: to be doing and and doing the right thing and
- 8:07Speaker 1: working on your dreams and goals, you win every day.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Whether it be you getting your piece back, you're starting
- 8:13Speaker 1: back to right right your dreams, and you getting up.
- 8:16Speaker 1: You know, a lot of many people hadn't got out
- 8:19Speaker 1: of bed, out of bed and and you know, in
- 8:21Speaker 1: a long time. But to actually get up again, you know,
- 8:24Speaker 1: and just become inner jib and feel good about yourself. Uh,
- 8:27Speaker 1: you know, those are win. So I teld people it's
- 8:30Speaker 1: very important that you don't overlook the things that you
- 8:33Speaker 1: are accomplishing, whether they're small or great, because at the
- 8:37Speaker 1: end of the day, if you're winning, you're just winning.
- 8:39Speaker 1: It doesn't matter where you're winning in as long as
- 8:41Speaker 1: you're winning. And that's why it's important that I wanted
- 8:43Speaker 1: to point out that sometimes people tied, you know, tie
- 8:47Speaker 1: went into big moments and if simples you know that
- 8:51Speaker 1: if you look at your you know, cleaning out your
- 8:53Speaker 1: your house, cleaning out your garage, those are winds. Those
- 8:57Speaker 1: are winds, you know, cutting your grass, that's a win.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Just do it consistently, Just do it consistently because I
- 9:03Speaker 1: want to talk about celebrating to win something I didn't understand,
- 9:07Speaker 1: and I'm doing it a lot more now. When we
- 9:08Speaker 1: come back more with Jaqualin car Wow, girl, we are
- 9:14Speaker 1: uplifting up here today on Money Making Conversations. We'll be
- 9:19Speaker 1: right back with more from mar Sean McDonald the Money
- 9:22Speaker 1: Making Conversations. Don't touch that dog. Hi, This is Rashan McDonald.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I'm hosting our Money Making Conversations on the phone. Is
- 9:30Speaker 1: Jaqualin car Um. She's really inspiring everybody in this book,
- 9:35Speaker 1: and hopefully she's inspiring every listener of your own. There's
- 9:39Speaker 1: watching Money Making Conversations on my Facebook page. More importantly
- 9:42Speaker 1: our Heart Radio podcasts as well. Her first book, You
- 9:45Speaker 1: Will Win Inspirational Strategies to help You Overcome. It came
- 9:50Speaker 1: out of February twinty. I bought the book on Amazon,
- 9:52Speaker 1: so you can go on Amazon right now and you
- 9:54Speaker 1: can buy this book Jaqualin car Uh, you will Win
- 9:58Speaker 1: just typing you will Win and spirational strategies to help
- 10:01Speaker 1: you overcome. Now when when we are when I before
- 10:05Speaker 1: the break, we was talking about defining the win and
- 10:07Speaker 1: I wanted to get a little thing a little statement
- 10:10Speaker 1: about myself, UH, to celebrate a win, which is really important.
- 10:16Speaker 1: And I pulled that out of your book, and everything
- 10:18Speaker 1: we're talking about is in your book. And it's important
- 10:21Speaker 1: that people understand that we're not adding any extra verbage here.
- 10:25Speaker 1: She has a plan in place that will help you
- 10:27Speaker 1: win short term and long term. Her key is don't
- 10:31Speaker 1: look at your pass, don't look back that you can't
- 10:34Speaker 1: change your pass. You look at your present and your future,
- 10:37Speaker 1: and you can. You can affect all those things and
- 10:40Speaker 1: defining the win. And we're standing on that a little
- 10:42Speaker 1: bit longer than our than we will normally, because if
- 10:45Speaker 1: you don't understand how to start, then you won't ever
- 10:48Speaker 1: make it to the middle part of success, nor will
- 10:50Speaker 1: you accomplish your goals. And we talked about defining the win.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Celebrating the win is something I never did, whether it
- 10:57Speaker 1: was a new television show, a SOULDI concert, or winning
- 11:02Speaker 1: an Emmy. I just put it on the shelf and
- 11:04Speaker 1: moved on. That's a mistake. You really have to understand
- 11:08Speaker 1: that what you've accomplished has value, and that way you
- 11:12Speaker 1: appreciate and you slow down for a moment to to
- 11:15Speaker 1: to to reset, and and and that's something I didn't do.
- 11:20Speaker 1: And so explain to everybody why I celebrating the win.
- 11:22Speaker 1: It's very important because I understand it now to Klin, yes,
- 11:28Speaker 1: you know, one thing that we I've learned within my
- 11:31Speaker 1: journey is that, um, of course we're supposed to work
- 11:36Speaker 1: and we we we do what we're supposed to do
- 11:38Speaker 1: concerning your dreams and where you want to be in life.
- 11:41Speaker 1: But if you never take that moment and that's time
- 11:43Speaker 1: to step back and celebrate the things that you have
- 11:47Speaker 1: accomplished thus far, it's hard for you to have that
- 11:50Speaker 1: drive and that motivation and that push to want to
- 11:53Speaker 1: do even more. And so what this does is it's
- 11:56Speaker 1: also another form of balancing. You know, we hear but say,
- 12:00Speaker 1: when it's time to work, you work, and when it's
- 12:02Speaker 1: time to play, you play. And so many times people
- 12:05Speaker 1: feel like, um, you know it's wrong for you to celebrate,
- 12:09Speaker 1: but no, it is okay for you to step back
- 12:12Speaker 1: because remember, you haven't always been where you are now,
- 12:16Speaker 1: and so you want to when you whenever you can
- 12:19Speaker 1: look back and see that you've come a long way,
- 12:23Speaker 1: you know that's a tremendous uh accomplishment, and you have
- 12:27Speaker 1: to take that moment to celebrate because again, when you
- 12:30Speaker 1: step back and you celebrate, it gives you that push
- 12:33Speaker 1: to want to say, oh, and since I did that,
- 12:35Speaker 1: I know I can do this. I Since I did this,
- 12:37Speaker 1: I know I can accomplish that. So that's why it
- 12:40Speaker 1: is important that you celebrate the things that you have
- 12:43Speaker 1: accomplished us far and to remembering that it is a
- 12:46Speaker 1: form of balancing as well. Wow, now you have two
- 12:50Speaker 1: favorite chapters that I want to talk about UH as
- 12:53Speaker 1: principal with each chapter called a principle. Principle three is
- 13:00Speaker 1: Structures to Win. Tell me why that that that that
- 13:02Speaker 1: chapter Structures to Win stands out to you? Yes? Yes,
- 13:07Speaker 1: in this chapter I teach us different several things. And
- 13:10Speaker 1: one of the things that I told you is to
- 13:13Speaker 1: expand your thinking, because if you never think beyond where
- 13:16Speaker 1: you are, you can never go beyond where you are.
- 13:19Speaker 1: And so many times a lot of us we are
- 13:22Speaker 1: held back due to our limited mindset. But when you
- 13:26Speaker 1: can look beyond your current circumstances, look beyond your age,
- 13:31Speaker 1: look beyond where you come from, and begin to see
- 13:34Speaker 1: your potential and how far you can actually go in life,
- 13:38Speaker 1: that's when you will begin to start accomplishing things after
- 13:42Speaker 1: you believe in yourself, of course, but it starts that
- 13:45Speaker 1: you change in your mindset. You it is impossible for
- 13:48Speaker 1: you to win. It is impossible for you to be
- 13:50Speaker 1: successful if people have a successful mindset, if you don't
- 13:54Speaker 1: have a winning thought process, you know, and again sometimes
- 13:59Speaker 1: it takes you because they've everybody doesn't know this. Everybody
- 14:02Speaker 1: wasn't taught how to think winning and think success. So
- 14:06Speaker 1: sometimes it helps when you can get some inspirational messages
- 14:11Speaker 1: in your ears from different motivational speakers, or if you
- 14:15Speaker 1: can write down your vision, your goal or whatever it
- 14:18Speaker 1: is that you want to be your accomplishing life on
- 14:21Speaker 1: different little uh sticky notes and put them around your house,
- 14:25Speaker 1: putting on your mirror, on your refrigerator dashboard. That way,
- 14:29Speaker 1: every time you turn around, that's what you see, and
- 14:32Speaker 1: you have no other choice but to think yourself into
- 14:35Speaker 1: that place of success. And then of course I talk
- 14:37Speaker 1: about focusing. There's so much negativity that will come to
- 14:42Speaker 1: you on your journey to win, but at the end
- 14:44Speaker 1: of the day, you cannot allow that to blindside you
- 14:47Speaker 1: because listen, people are going to talk and negativity is
- 14:50Speaker 1: gonna happen. Whether you're doing bad or doing good. So
- 14:54Speaker 1: it's just for them to talk while you're doing good.
- 14:57Speaker 1: If you want to think, sure that you continue to
- 15:00Speaker 1: stay focused on your assignment and your dreams and what
- 15:03Speaker 1: it is that you are desire to accomplish in life,
- 15:06Speaker 1: and don't allow that to set you back. You don't
- 15:09Speaker 1: have to respond to every negative thing that has been
- 15:12Speaker 1: has been said about you or to you, but you
- 15:15Speaker 1: have to learn how to push beyond that and don't
- 15:17Speaker 1: allow it to make you sit down, but let it
- 15:19Speaker 1: catapults you to want to be either more successful in life.
- 15:24Speaker 1: That is thinking I think success. That's important that she's saying.
- 15:28Speaker 1: She's trying to get your mind set to understand that
- 15:31Speaker 1: you have to if you want to be successful, you
- 15:32Speaker 1: have to think it's successful. You just can't. It's just
- 15:35Speaker 1: something you just don't wake up. It's it's a process.
- 15:38Speaker 1: And more importantly, the word expand because if you're standing
- 15:42Speaker 1: a little small box, then you won't see other opportunities
- 15:45Speaker 1: nor well. And that's that that box of fear, because
- 15:49Speaker 1: that box of fear is powerful because so many people
- 15:53Speaker 1: aren't doing things in life because they fear change. Now,
- 15:56Speaker 1: one of your other great chapters that you wanted to
- 15:58Speaker 1: at least communicate on before we wrapped up this interview.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Was patience to win. Yes, Patients to win is just
- 16:06Speaker 1: talking about when you look upon successful people and you
- 16:09Speaker 1: see the results, you see where they are now, but
- 16:12Speaker 1: you never see what they had to go through and
- 16:14Speaker 1: the patients they had to have in order to endure
- 16:17Speaker 1: what they had to go through. And so with all
- 16:20Speaker 1: of that being said, we must understand that any time
- 16:23Speaker 1: you desire to be successful and when in life there
- 16:26Speaker 1: are certain things that we have to go through, it
- 16:28Speaker 1: is only processing us and equipping us for our place
- 16:32Speaker 1: of greatness because when we get there, we want to
- 16:34Speaker 1: know how to handle our success because so many people
- 16:38Speaker 1: they they access the success, but they know that place.
- 16:42Speaker 1: And so what the process does is it teaches you
- 16:45Speaker 1: how to appreciate it more, how to treat people, how
- 16:48Speaker 1: to you know, uh, love on others. It doesn't matter
- 16:52Speaker 1: how much greatness you obtain, it is important that you
- 16:55Speaker 1: treat people with respect because when you give respect, you
- 16:58Speaker 1: gain respect. And so that's what it's all about, just
- 17:02Speaker 1: helping you to understand that you have to go through
- 17:05Speaker 1: in order for you to be able to appreciate your
- 17:08Speaker 1: place of success now I want to I want to
- 17:10Speaker 1: close the interview out with what I What I found
- 17:13Speaker 1: was pretty profound. The twelve twelve Habits for for a
- 17:16Speaker 1: Win that's in this book, and there's so much more
- 17:19Speaker 1: in this book that were just But like I said,
- 17:21Speaker 1: she's defining your your your starting line. I want to
- 17:25Speaker 1: say that, and and it's understanding that you have to
- 17:28Speaker 1: define you win. You have the game structure. You have
- 17:30Speaker 1: to be patient because it's not gonna happen overnight. But
- 17:32Speaker 1: she in twelve Habits for a Win Number one, start
- 17:36Speaker 1: each day with a prayer. Number two, challenge yourself to
- 17:39Speaker 1: work on your vision. It was a little sticky though.
- 17:42Speaker 1: She was talking about let your let your thoughts to
- 17:45Speaker 1: be positive, don't let negative win, don't let fear win.
