- 1:55Speaker 1: with the money making conversations, My man, Rocko, how you hello?
- 1:59Speaker 1: Hello were Sean? You read the whole thing I have
- 2:02Speaker 1: to hold provided you with. Thank you very much. I
- 2:05Speaker 1: would you know, you know, actually cut down? I cut
- 2:08Speaker 1: down because when you reported towns like Steve Harvey and
- 2:12Speaker 1: Steven A. Smith and work with you give people their
- 2:17Speaker 1: career credit, and you know you have a career. Now
- 2:19Speaker 1: you you're interesting guy because I we hear the word healthy,
- 2:23Speaker 1: I hear the word food. Now I'm just letting you
- 2:25Speaker 1: know what you're talking to, Rocko. I'm a guy who
- 2:28Speaker 1: has Um Crispy Cream app on my phone. Okay, you're
- 2:32Speaker 1: talking just how you're talking to. I go to go
- 2:35Speaker 1: to a restaurant. I get my dessert before my meal. Okay,
- 2:39Speaker 1: I would come, I go, hey, can you give me?
- 2:42Speaker 1: Of course, everybody everybody looks at me crazy when I
- 2:45Speaker 1: do that, rock I said, can you get excuse me?
- 2:47Speaker 1: It is crazy? It is crazy, Thank you very much.
- 2:50Speaker 1: So I want to look at the shape you tell
- 2:53Speaker 1: people about my good ship. I want to set the
- 2:57Speaker 1: stage for our relationship. You say, I don't want you
- 2:59Speaker 1: to con you. I don't say you like I'm doing
- 3:02Speaker 1: something right in life. I enjoy our life, but it's
- 3:05Speaker 1: important that especially you know, I'm gonna go real and funny.
- 3:09Speaker 1: At the same time, COVID has told us that we
- 3:11Speaker 1: gotta eat right, especially in the brown and black and
- 3:14Speaker 1: brown communities. We've shown that the COVID ninteen has overtally
- 3:18Speaker 1: affected that and weight loss and high blood pressure and
- 3:21Speaker 1: cholesterol have always been enemies in the black community. And
- 3:24Speaker 1: so that's one of the reasons why I wanted to
- 3:27Speaker 1: bring you on our show, just because your book, and
- 3:28Speaker 1: also we're gonna talk about some some things we're gonna
- 3:30Speaker 1: do by super Bowl time for for nice eats, but
- 3:34Speaker 1: I really wanted to talk about you as a brand
- 3:37Speaker 1: and the and the reason why healthy eating and healthy
- 3:40Speaker 1: lifestyle is so important. Yeah, so you make you're you're
- 3:43Speaker 1: making fun of people who thinking about health. But I
- 3:47Speaker 1: know you must be working out or balancing your behavior
- 3:51Speaker 1: in other ways because you're in great shape. You look amazing.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Obviously you're in good health. So I'd like to know
- 3:56Speaker 1: before you let people believe that you're crispy cream app
- 3:59Speaker 1: rule your daily life, what is it that you do
- 4:02Speaker 1: to stay in such good shape. You obviously work out, Yes,
- 4:05Speaker 1: you watch, you watch, you watch other things that you eat.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I'm sure you probably drink a lot of water. You
- 4:10Speaker 1: probably don't drink a lot of alcohol. You know, there's
- 4:12Speaker 1: probably a few things you do in your life to
- 4:14Speaker 1: stay balanced. I drink a lot of waters. I drink
- 4:19Speaker 1: a lot of water. I I don't drink coffee your tea,
- 4:22Speaker 1: not because it's negative, but I drink a ton of water.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I don't eat early. If you know, I tend to
- 4:28Speaker 1: want to stop eating at six o'clock in the afternoon.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I'm not a big portion eating person. When I was younger,
- 4:35Speaker 1: I was a big all you can eat restaurant fan.
- 4:37Speaker 1: But as you get older, you do less, and so
- 4:39Speaker 1: I usually do two meals a day and I eat
- 4:42Speaker 1: a lot of nuts. There you go. So, so what
- 4:45Speaker 1: you just subscribed includes calorie correction, card correction, intermittent fasting,
- 4:51Speaker 1: even uh, metabolic fasting. Do you work out at all?
- 4:56Speaker 1: I do a lot of stretching now and stretching okay,
- 4:58Speaker 1: and you're probably very I tip, and you're probably staying
- 5:00Speaker 1: busy a lot. So you're doing nine out of ten
- 5:03Speaker 1: things that I recommend doing in all of my books.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I've written nine books about health, and all of them
- 5:09Speaker 1: include everything that you just described. So if you have
- 5:11Speaker 1: a bad Krispy Creme habit, but you balance it with
- 5:14Speaker 1: working out and drinking moderate amounts of alcohol and doing
- 5:18Speaker 1: a lot of jail, you exercise and staying busy and
- 5:21Speaker 1: living a life with purpose and saying hydrated. Those are
- 5:24Speaker 1: all the things that will balance and counteract the Krispy
- 5:27Speaker 1: Creme addiction. I love a Krispy Creme like everybody else.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I haven't downloaded, yepp. I have to be honest with you,
- 5:33Speaker 1: but I do need to stay away from those things,
- 5:35Speaker 1: and they will trigger me. So you gotta know, You
- 5:37Speaker 1: gotta know what will trigger you. Getna stay away from
- 5:39Speaker 1: the bad habits that will trigger you. So if I
- 5:42Speaker 1: see if I walk by a Krispy Kreme, I'm likely
- 5:45Speaker 1: to go in and give it a whiff and see
- 5:47Speaker 1: what's going on. So I try to avoid those places.
- 5:50Speaker 1: But you know, it's it's important, especially as we get
- 5:52Speaker 1: older and especially during a pandemic, that you stay as
- 5:55Speaker 1: healthy as possible. And one easy way to do it
- 5:58Speaker 1: is with your choices about food. It's the only thing
- 6:02Speaker 1: that you have, uh that's really in your control. So
- 6:06Speaker 1: think about all the other influences on your health. Uh So,
- 6:09Speaker 1: the quality of the air you breathe, the quality of
- 6:11Speaker 1: the water, the quality of process and commercial foods, fast foods.
- 6:17Speaker 1: You can't control what's in any of that, right, UH,
- 6:20Speaker 1: Medicines that you take, you have no idea what's in
- 6:22Speaker 1: the medicines, the health care that you get. We don't
- 6:24Speaker 1: really know for getting quality healthcare or fo doctors doing
- 6:27Speaker 1: what's best for us, or making decisions that are in ourvesting.
- 6:31Speaker 1: We don't really know for sure, right we we we
- 6:33Speaker 1: know at the end of our lives what happened and
- 6:35Speaker 1: what what was important, what wasn't. But the food that
- 6:38Speaker 1: you eat every day you have almost control over if
- 6:43Speaker 1: at some point in your life you broke the sugar habit.
- 6:46Speaker 1: If you did that, and you have control over your options,
- 6:49Speaker 1: you can make healthy choices. And once you start making
- 6:52Speaker 1: healthy choices, you regain your power and your control over
- 6:55Speaker 1: your body and your life. And UH, for every person
- 6:59Speaker 1: out there, you've got our seriously consider that. And it's
- 7:01Speaker 1: about eating consciously. So every time you're hungry, you feel
- 7:06Speaker 1: you crave something to eat, you have to take a moment, UH,
- 7:09Speaker 1: you have to think about what you're gonna do, be
- 7:12Speaker 1: conscious and make a decision that's good for you instead
- 7:15Speaker 1: of impulse eating and just stuffing you know, stuff in
- 7:18Speaker 1: your face that happens to be around you. Because when
- 7:21Speaker 1: you do that, you lose control of your health, your body,
- 7:23Speaker 1: your mind, and then you're not helpful to yourself, your family,
- 7:26Speaker 1: people around you, and uh lots of lots of different
- 7:30Speaker 1: categories of people get caught up into this because you know,
- 7:34Speaker 1: we're marketed junk food from from really really young. It's
- 7:38Speaker 1: very inexpensive. I remember going to Catholic school and queens
- 7:42Speaker 1: they served us junk food five days a week. We
- 7:45Speaker 1: had McDonald's one day, we had Blimpy, another day, we
- 7:48Speaker 1: had beats another day. I mean, when you start out
- 7:51Speaker 1: life like that, you know it's it's definitely a hard road.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Uh years on the road. So rock your book, our
- 7:57Speaker 1: Rocko's Keto comfort food, diet e foods you mass still
- 8:01Speaker 1: lose up to a pound to day. That's the book.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I want that book. I'm willa put it on my
- 8:05Speaker 1: social media soon as you give me some banners. That's
- 8:07Speaker 1: why I really started when to make conversation problem, because
- 8:10Speaker 1: you know, it's it's all for you a charge. They
- 8:12Speaker 1: got like one point six social and influence followers, million followers,
- 8:17Speaker 1: and I'd like to really amazing get a sense of
- 8:20Speaker 1: because what happens. If you go to my Facebook, you'll
- 8:23Speaker 1: see I got like eight hundred fifty followers. You see
- 8:26Speaker 1: on Tuesday and three I always promote bakers, they put
- 8:29Speaker 1: their favorite So I really wanted to bring you on
- 8:31Speaker 1: the show because of the fact that I know naty
- 8:34Speaker 1: percent of my followers on Facebook or female ten percent
- 8:37Speaker 1: of men. So that means that they influence dies, they
- 8:40Speaker 1: influence the household. So tell us about your your diet book. Sure, Uh,
- 8:46Speaker 1: since you brought up thinking and I'm just gonna point
- 8:48Speaker 1: out this recipe first. It's a chocolate chips skillet cookie.
- 8:52Speaker 1: This is one of my favorite recipes in the book
- 8:58Speaker 1: Chocolate Skill. It yeah, chocolate chip skill of cookie. It's
- 9:05Speaker 1: made without any sugar at all. It's made with dark chocolate. Uh,
- 9:09Speaker 1: it's got um five grams of protein, eleven grams of
- 9:15Speaker 1: carbs as compared to a normal chocol chip cookie, which
- 9:19Speaker 1: would have you know, sixty seventy grams of carbs, especially
- 9:21Speaker 1: when this big. This would be the first recipe I'd
- 9:24Speaker 1: recommend out of this book. And uh, because I use
- 9:28Speaker 1: dark chocolate, I use coconut flour, I don't use uh
- 9:31Speaker 1: any traditional sweeteners. Unable to keep the grams of carbs low.
- 9:35Speaker 1: And basically we're in a fight against junk carbs. Most
- 9:39Speaker 1: pallots come down to avoiding junk cards. Unless you're an
- 9:44Speaker 1: elite athlete or you run five miles a day, you
- 9:47Speaker 1: basically need to avoid cards. That's what it all comes
- 9:49Speaker 1: down to, and that's what this book is about. It's
- 9:51Speaker 1: a Keto diet. It's called Keto comfort Foods because I took,
- 9:55Speaker 1: you know, my top ten lists of favorite comfort foods
- 9:58Speaker 1: and I turned them into Keto version, which means less
- 10:01Speaker 1: than they add up to less than twenty grams of
- 10:03Speaker 1: carbs per day. So if you eat three or four
- 10:06Speaker 1: dishes from this book per day, you can be guaranteed
- 10:09Speaker 1: that you'll stay in a keto diet, which is a
- 10:10Speaker 1: low carb diet. We've all heard of low carb diet.
- 10:13Speaker 1: The other part of being on a keto diet is
- 10:15Speaker 1: that you eat a lot of fat. You're on a
- 10:17Speaker 1: high fat, low carb diet, and if you're able to
- 10:19Speaker 1: sustain that, you can lose a lot of weight very quickly,
- 10:23Speaker 1: you can reverse diabetes. There are a lot of health benefits.
- 10:26Speaker 1: The thing with the Keto diet is it's a it's
- 10:28Speaker 1: a little bit all or nothing. So if you don't
- 10:31Speaker 1: stay on the Keto diet and you don't stay in ketosis,
- 10:34Speaker 1: and you you have a couple of bad days, you
- 10:37Speaker 1: can gain a lot of weight very quickly. So I
- 10:39Speaker 1: only recommend for people who can stay on the path
- 10:42Speaker 1: for at least ten days. If you're if you're gonna,
- 10:45Speaker 1: you know, fall off the wagon day three, it's probably
- 10:48Speaker 1: not a good thing to do. And what you should
- 10:49Speaker 1: do is just basically lower your junk carb consumption. Talking
- 10:53Speaker 1: about bread, rice, uh, baked goods unfortunately, were showing us
- 11:00Speaker 1: you're unless you're living life and balance. Now, when I
- 11:03Speaker 1: say life and balance, I mean if you're within ten
- 11:06Speaker 1: percent of your goal weight, your body fat is you know,
- 11:10Speaker 1: somewhere between twenty uh. Your your bm your body mass
- 11:15Speaker 1: index is uh, you know, equal to the amount of
- 11:18Speaker 1: calories you burn every day. So our BMR is our
- 11:22Speaker 1: is our basal metabolic rate. It tells you how many
- 11:25Speaker 1: calories you burn without exercise every day, and for most
- 11:28Speaker 1: people it's between fifteen and two thousand calories that we
- 11:31Speaker 1: just burned living life, just doing nothing, just walking around.
- 11:34Speaker 1: If you're eating more than fifteen hundreds of two thousand
- 11:37Speaker 1: calories day, you're obviously going to gain weight because you're
- 11:39Speaker 1: consuming more than you burn. So that's what when I
- 11:42Speaker 1: say life and balance, I'm talking about ISO caloric balance,
- 11:46Speaker 1: meaning you burn and consume the same amount of calories.
- 11:50Speaker 1: You know, there's really good that I'm hearing this conversation
- 11:52Speaker 1: because because my wife, she loves my desserts, but she's
- 11:54Speaker 1: she's really back off the sugar now. She's really that's
- 11:57Speaker 1: just too sweet for me. Like I made some down
- 12:00Speaker 1: to the raising bread this weekend because I know this
- 12:02Speaker 1: sugar content with those she loved it. And so you're
- 12:05Speaker 1: talking about that chocolate chip skillet cookie with no sugar,
- 12:09Speaker 1: I'm making that this week Yeah, you're gonna love it.
- 12:13Speaker 1: You're gonna guarantee you're gonna love it. And if if
- 12:15Speaker 1: it's um, because I use alternative sweeteners like stevia and
- 12:20Speaker 1: monk fruit, if it doesn't taste right, so you can
- 12:22Speaker 1: always add a little bit of coconut nectar or maple
- 12:26Speaker 1: syrup or something like a traditional sweetener, just a little
- 12:28Speaker 1: bit to give it the just taste that you're used to.
- 12:32Speaker 1: But most of the time, listen, you win people over
- 12:35Speaker 1: with those bake make desserts. I'm sure make goods. I'm
- 12:38Speaker 1: sure make you a lot of friends. But you know
- 12:40Speaker 1: everything in moderation. You told me before that you practice
- 12:43Speaker 1: portion control. Hopefully hopefully that's true with all the baked goods. Well,
- 12:47Speaker 1: my whole thing is that, like with this is out
- 12:49Speaker 1: of your book, rock Hose Keto, comfort food diet, eat
- 12:52Speaker 1: foods you miss and still lose up to a pound
- 12:54Speaker 1: of day. Now we were talking about it. Really you
- 12:58Speaker 1: are a godsen to me because of the inn the end.
- 13:01Speaker 1: You know, just talk about it. When you in your twenties,
- 13:04Speaker 1: you just you know, you just burning stuff. You're just burning, right,
- 13:07Speaker 1: And then then you get in that thirties and forties,
- 13:10Speaker 1: you become you start sitting more, you don't run as
- 13:12Speaker 1: much a natural activity, losing and that's when the way
- 13:15Speaker 1: game comes about. And I said the guards in part
- 13:17Speaker 1: about is that you're telling me I can still enjoy
- 13:20Speaker 1: what I eat, but in a healthy manner. And guess what,
- 13:23Speaker 1: I am a disciplined guy, Rocko. I do have discipline
- 13:27Speaker 1: in my and and so, and I like to be
- 13:29Speaker 1: people who follow me have that same discipline if I
- 13:32Speaker 1: redirect them a little bit with your book. Gods, Yeah, listen,
- 13:36Speaker 1: clear clearly you live in this is in life. Look
- 13:38Speaker 1: at what you've accomplished. There's no way you could get
- 13:41Speaker 1: to where you are without waking up every day and
- 13:44Speaker 1: going out there and heading the ground with purpose. Right,
- 13:46Speaker 1: it's the same thing with your diet. The one thing
- 13:49Speaker 1: we think that is not in our control is our
- 13:52Speaker 1: diet and our health and wellness. A lot of people
- 13:55Speaker 1: in America believe that is in the control of other people.
- 13:58Speaker 1: It's not true. It's complete, letly within your control. So
- 14:01Speaker 1: if you again, if there's a little bit of conscious
- 14:04Speaker 1: thought and impulse control, you know, we we learn impulse control, uh,
- 14:09Speaker 1: either by getting in trouble or going to therapy, or
- 14:13Speaker 1: you read about it in a self help book, or
- 14:16Speaker 1: you know, maybe you heard Steve Harvey talked about it.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I don't know, but everybody learns impulse control at some
- 14:21Speaker 1: point in their life. If we apply it, like you know,
- 14:24Speaker 1: when you talk back to your mom and she's snaxy
- 14:26Speaker 1: because you didn't wait a second to keep to make
- 14:29Speaker 1: a better decision. That's that's another lesson in impulse control,
- 14:32Speaker 1: and my mom did that a lot. But if you
- 14:35Speaker 1: apply that to eating, you'll you'll do yourself a huge
- 14:38Speaker 1: favor because most people when they're making conscious decisions about
- 14:42Speaker 1: what they eat, make better decisions. And also if you
- 14:45Speaker 1: cook at home a lot versus eating out, you'll make
- 14:47Speaker 1: much better decisions than commercial food manufacturers will make for you.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And the reason you start to gain weight in your
- 14:53Speaker 1: thirties and forties is because hormones like testosterone and estrogen
- 14:58Speaker 1: start to decline. Your body produces much less of those hormones.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Muscle mass starts to decline. Your muscle is the only
- 15:05Speaker 1: part of your body that burns galleries, so you start
- 15:08Speaker 1: to add You know, some people had five to ten
- 15:10Speaker 1: pounds a year starting in their thirties, and it's really
- 15:14Speaker 1: through no fault of their own. They're doing the same
- 15:16Speaker 1: thing they've always done, but all of a sudden, now
- 15:18Speaker 1: we're gaining weight. So you have to counteracted either by
- 15:21Speaker 1: exercising more, which at some point you have to do
- 15:24Speaker 1: because you'll you'll never add muscle in your thirties, forties, fifties,
- 15:29Speaker 1: sixties unless you're purposely trying to to add muscle by
- 15:33Speaker 1: working out. You know, stretching is a great form of exercise.
- 15:37Speaker 1: It's it's essentially uh another form of yoga, which is
- 15:44Speaker 1: all resistance training, which builds muscle. And if you don't
- 15:46Speaker 1: do that, weight or push up and pull ups, those
- 15:49Speaker 1: all help a lot. It's finally here the season of celebration,
- 15:53Speaker 1: and no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,
- 15:56Speaker 1: whether you're preparing for Reis magos or Karamu, lighting them manure,
- 16:00Speaker 1: are going to midnight mass, Coals has just what you
- 16:03Speaker 1: need to make those traditions special. Plus you'll find gifts

- 16:24Speaker 1: and under Armor. And in the spirit of giving, Coals
- 16:27Speaker 1: Cares is donating eight million dollars to local nonprofits nationwide
- 16:31Speaker 1: committed to the health and well being of our communities.
- 16:35Speaker 1: No matter how you celebrate, when you shop at Coals,
- 16:38Speaker 1: you're right where you belong. So this season, give with

- 17:49Speaker 1: about the word diet and used the word healthy food.
- 17:53Speaker 1: It tends to not sound like it's good food. Am
- 17:56Speaker 1: I wrong? One? And people know you're right? You're absolutely
- 17:58Speaker 1: right about that. Health Me and delicious we're always mutually exclusive.
- 18:03Speaker 1: If you really read my first book, it says healthy
- 18:05Speaker 1: and Delicious are no longer mutually exclusive. So my goals
- 18:08Speaker 1: is as a chef and a diet a diet a
- 18:12Speaker 1: person or an advocate of healthy diets, was to make
- 18:15Speaker 1: sure that the food tasted just as good as it
- 18:18Speaker 1: did before I put the diet onto it. So before
- 18:21Speaker 1: I take away all the bad stuff and add all
- 18:23Speaker 1: the good stuff, I make sure it still tastes good.
- 18:26Speaker 1: So in your book, you you have recipes like chocolate
- 18:29Speaker 1: glazed donut, cinnamon roll bytes, mac and cheese, which is
- 18:33Speaker 1: my daughter is gonna love. Now, this is what I
- 18:35Speaker 1: love right here because I bake some fried chicken for
- 18:39Speaker 1: my staff last week because in my office I have
- 18:42Speaker 1: a full kitchen and so I'm always cooking for him,
- 18:45Speaker 1: and so a lot of these recipes and I enjoy,
- 18:47Speaker 1: like the hot crispy keto fried chicken, does baghetti squash?
- 18:51Speaker 1: The meat lover is cauliflower pizza. Come on, now, see
- 18:55Speaker 1: this pizza is insane. You have to make that, and
- 18:58Speaker 1: that it's so good people love it. The fried chicken
- 19:01Speaker 1: is great. Fried chicken is naturally keto. You just got
- 19:03Speaker 1: to replace the bread crumbs with something that's that's more
- 19:06Speaker 1: keto friendly. Okay, when you say that, what do you
- 19:09Speaker 1: mean when you say that, because now you got me. Yeah.
- 19:12Speaker 1: So so in this book, I use either one of
- 19:15Speaker 1: two things, a nut mixture or because it's Keto. I'm
- 19:20Speaker 1: not saying this is good for everybody, but pork cracklin
- 19:24Speaker 1: ground up cork cracklin as a as a coating instead
- 19:27Speaker 1: of bread crumbs. So that's protein and fat, no carbs.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I know that sounds insane and totally unhealthy, but if
- 19:33Speaker 1: you're on a Keto diet, it works. Now, man, you're
- 19:37Speaker 1: crazy for you, I know right, it sounds crazy. Pork cracklin.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I grew up on that rocko. Come on, now, you
- 19:45Speaker 1: eat too much, you choke on it. If you smash
- 19:51Speaker 1: it up. If you smash it up, you can use
- 19:53Speaker 1: it as a coating for all your fried foods instead
- 19:56Speaker 1: of bread crumbs. So instead of a junk carb, you
- 19:59Speaker 1: using a pro tina. And in fact, those are some
- 20:01Speaker 1: of the tricks that we do in the book. Wow.
- 20:06Speaker 1: See you you you scoff. When I said you are
- 20:08Speaker 1: guards in, you looked at me, And what's he talking about? You?
- 20:11Speaker 1: Telling me? Modesty? Kicking in? Now he's he's he's the
- 20:16Speaker 1: right there. Now the super Bowl is coming up. We
- 20:21Speaker 1: all know that everybody gotta have the right thing. Is
- 20:24Speaker 1: that that's that's the Colifil pizza. That's a that's the
- 20:27Speaker 1: Collegeower pizza. Yeah, yes, a square. I love that. It's
- 20:31Speaker 1: a square pizza. Well, you're probably gonna say some of
- 20:35Speaker 1: my staff because, uh, the way I cook that chocolate
- 20:38Speaker 1: guge don't love it. Cinema role bytes, mac and cheese,
- 20:42Speaker 1: so many of the things that I'm gonna be buying
- 20:44Speaker 1: to that. So with super Bowl coming up, what one
- 20:47Speaker 1: of the things you got on your menia there for us? There?
- 20:50Speaker 1: So here here you go. If you want to be
- 20:51Speaker 1: on a keto diet for super Bowl, which by the way,
- 20:54Speaker 1: I don't necessarily recommend, there has to be some days
- 20:57Speaker 1: where you just don't care, right, There's there's gotta be
- 20:59Speaker 1: a few days a year where you're just not worried
- 21:01Speaker 1: about that stuff. And super Bowl is a good one.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Thanksgiving is another good one. Christmas is another good one.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Just don't worry about it on those days. If you're
- 21:09Speaker 1: worrying about it the rest of the year, you'll be
- 21:11Speaker 1: fine on those days. Uh. This is guacamole served with
- 21:14Speaker 1: pork cracklin, right, so high quality fats, lots of protein
- 21:18Speaker 1: and pepitas which are yeah, right, that's fried pork correctly. Yeah,
- 21:26Speaker 1: instead of tortillas, which are junk cards. It's pork crackling crazy.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I know it sounds insane, but it's really good and
- 21:33Speaker 1: it works. This is and this is all in there
- 21:39Speaker 1: the rock O Keto comfort food diet. Wow, poor crack.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Other thing, the other thing you have to have on
- 21:45Speaker 1: on Super bowls is chicken wings, right, gotta have chicken wings.
- 21:50Speaker 1: So my recommendation for chicken wings comes from another book
- 21:53Speaker 1: I wrote called Now Eat This, And it's basically Frank's
- 21:56Speaker 1: Hot sauce, butter and just fresh chicken wings. That's the
- 21:59Speaker 1: original rest be So in the eighties, when I was
- 22:01Speaker 1: in cooking school, I traveled to Buffalo, New York with
- 22:04Speaker 1: my roommate who's from Buffalo, and I went to Anchor
- 22:08Speaker 1: Bar and to Dust, the two bars that claim to
- 22:10Speaker 1: have originated the Buffalo chicken wing, and I learned the
- 22:14Speaker 1: recipe from them, and that all it is is Frank's
- 22:16Speaker 1: Hot sauce, butter and fresh fried chicken wings. There's no flour,
- 22:20Speaker 1: there's no sugar, there's no crazy stuff. That's all it is.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Three ingredients. Just try that. Try that for this Super
- 22:27Speaker 1: Bowl and I think you'll be very very happy. And
- 22:29Speaker 1: it t keto. Okay, So what are you frying an it? What?
- 22:32Speaker 1: What's what's what's on it? Oil? You're frying it in oil.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Whatever oil you want, obviously the listen. If you can
- 22:39Speaker 1: afford grape seed oil, avocad oil, go for it. But otherwise,
- 22:43Speaker 1: vegetable oil is fine. It's raw, it's dry, it's it's
- 22:46Speaker 1: seasoned with salt and pepper. It's deep fried until it's
- 22:49Speaker 1: crispy about ten minutes, and then it goes into a
- 22:51Speaker 1: bowl with about two thirds Franc's Hot sauce one third butter.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I like to use grass fed butter if you can,
- 22:58Speaker 1: and then you cover the bowl for a few minutes,
- 23:00Speaker 1: toss it around and that's that's the original recipe for
- 23:03Speaker 1: Buffalo chicken wings from Buffalo from Anchor Bar. Wow. Yeah,
- 23:08Speaker 1: so no flour, no dredging, no nonsense, no sugar, none
- 23:13Speaker 1: of that stuff. Okay. Now, the one thing I never
- 23:16Speaker 1: hear people talking about is I'm going to my heart
- 23:19Speaker 1: now desserts for Super Bowl snacks that you know you
- 23:22Speaker 1: can't be around and just what what what would you recommended?
- 23:26Speaker 1: You can grab and you can eat real quick, make
- 23:29Speaker 1: real fast for Super Bowl weekend. So I have a
- 23:31Speaker 1: flowerless chocolate cake in this and this Keto comfort book
- 23:34Speaker 1: that I think is a fantastic go to. You can
- 23:37Speaker 1: make days ahead, leave it in the fridge. You mentioned
- 23:40Speaker 1: monkey bread before. I love monkey bread, and uh, I
- 23:43Speaker 1: like I like to use um pre bought, you know,
- 23:47Speaker 1: like a dough in a tube. Like I don't want
- 23:49Speaker 1: to mention the brand, but you guys know what I'm
- 23:51Speaker 1: talking about. To buy those biscuits and you you pop
- 23:54Speaker 1: them open and then you you assemble them like a
- 23:58Speaker 1: tower so you can make it. Paul Apart, I like
- 24:01Speaker 1: that for the Super Bowl. I think that's fun. Paul
- 24:04Speaker 1: Apart monkey bread. Okay, so but what are the ingredients
- 24:08Speaker 1: with that? What you know, I'll give you a ar rescue.
- 24:11Speaker 1: But this is not a healthy one, by the way.
- 24:13Speaker 1: This is this is conventional. This is conventional. I used
- 24:16Speaker 1: white chocolate, maple syrup bacon in mine. I just made
- 24:21Speaker 1: it on Guy's Ranch Kitchen on the Food Network. It
- 24:23Speaker 1: was it was delicious, and uh it'll be I'll be
- 24:26Speaker 1: on there on the thirty one January. Actually, you'll be
- 24:29Speaker 1: able to catch me making it, and I'll get you
- 24:31Speaker 1: a rescue for it, but it's basically a white chocolate
- 24:33Speaker 1: bacon monkey bread. I know it sounds awful, but it's
- 24:36Speaker 1: really good. Rock you you are. I'm a team man.
- 24:40Speaker 1: You're a man out there, my hall. Everything you're saying,
- 24:43Speaker 1: I grew up eating indeed, but it sounds like I
- 24:46Speaker 1: shouldn't be eating it now. But you said, Rachean, trust me,
- 24:50Speaker 1: this is the pork ryans, the crackling I mean crackling bread.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I remember I grew up with that, you know, six
- 24:57Speaker 1: bare room, a shotgun house. But my dad, my mom,
- 25:01Speaker 1: you know, we were said, they're nine kids, so we
- 25:04Speaker 1: ate like that. That's what we ate, and so we
- 25:06Speaker 1: enjoyed it. And so you bring back memories. And you're
- 25:09Speaker 1: telling me you have to hear that, Rockell, you created
- 25:12Speaker 1: a cookbook that I can get all this stuff and
- 25:14Speaker 1: bring back my food memories. For sure. For sure, there's
- 25:17Speaker 1: a lot of comfort food in there that I'm sure
- 25:19Speaker 1: we'll bring back the memories. That was the way it
- 25:22Speaker 1: was designed. That's why it's called the comfort food diet.
- 25:24Speaker 1: The ideas you can eat the foods you love, still
- 25:26Speaker 1: lose the weight, still manas the weight instead and be happy.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Right because at the end of the day, we're not
- 25:31Speaker 1: feeling happy and satisfied, and we don't reach society, which
- 25:35Speaker 1: is hard to reach. You end up cheating on your diet,
- 25:37Speaker 1: you end up messing up, you end up drinking too
- 25:40Speaker 1: much or eating too many sweets, and it doesn't work.
- 25:42Speaker 1: So I gotta you gotta be able to uh hit
- 25:45Speaker 1: the spot if you know what I mean. Well, I
- 25:47Speaker 1: know what I'm gonna do. I'm going to Bonds and
- 25:50Speaker 1: Nobles and get your book today. I'm surprised my wife
- 25:54Speaker 1: this afternoon with this book. It sounds amazing. Thank you
- 25:59Speaker 1: so much, Rocko. Here's a deal. I have a lot
- 26:02Speaker 1: of chefs. Come on show. I'm I'm a fan of chefs.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I want you to be a friend of my show
- 26:07Speaker 1: anytime you want to come with it, because you're changing
- 26:10Speaker 1: my life in a way. And I'd say these things
- 26:13Speaker 1: because of the fact that as you get older, you
- 26:15Speaker 1: know that you can see the finish line more so
- 26:18Speaker 1: I'm trying to push the finish line. And but it
- 26:21Speaker 1: was more importantly I want to enjoy life. But you're
- 26:23Speaker 1: telling me, Rashan, there's comfort food out there that you
- 26:26Speaker 1: can eat and if you do it right, you can
- 26:29Speaker 1: still smile at the dinner change or still the word healthy.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Don't don't act like that's a defted finding turn. And
- 26:37Speaker 1: that's what your sir, rockos keyto comfort food died, eat
- 26:40Speaker 1: the foods you miss and still lose up to a
- 26:42Speaker 1: pound of day. And you say, as you give yourself
- 26:45Speaker 1: a ten day window to try a key or give
- 26:49Speaker 1: yourself ten day twenty days would be a deal. Ten
- 26:51Speaker 1: days ten days minimum, uh to see some big results.
- 26:55Speaker 1: You'll see results the first few days, but give yourself
- 26:57Speaker 1: ten days being a hundred sent on the path I'm
- 27:01Speaker 1: talking about, you know, holy no no mistakes for ten
- 27:06Speaker 1: days and you'll see big results. Let's talk about your
- 27:09Speaker 1: book just a little bit more sure. Yeah, do you
- 27:11Speaker 1: have like like a morning, a breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- 27:14Speaker 1: type of regiment? I do, yes, So, Uh, the book
- 27:18Speaker 1: has diet plants. It has four four tiers tier once
- 27:21Speaker 1: or two, three, and four which takes you from uh
- 27:25Speaker 1: smaller amounts of calories to larger amounts of calories, but
- 27:28Speaker 1: also from extreme keyto to a keto friendly diet. So
- 27:32Speaker 1: at some point keto becomes um a little bit unsustainable
- 27:37Speaker 1: because you don't want to eat that amount of fat
- 27:40Speaker 1: for the rest of your life. You want to get
- 27:41Speaker 1: into eating healthy vegetables, eating a lot of plant based foods,
- 27:44Speaker 1: and this book gets you from there to there. So,
- 27:47Speaker 1: but it starts off with keto coffee and bone broth.
- 27:52Speaker 1: So you do that for three days, and that's called
- 27:54Speaker 1: the cleanse. So bone broth gives you all the necessary
- 27:57Speaker 1: protein and fat that you need to sustain in you
- 28:00Speaker 1: know your energy, and you can drink as much bone
- 28:03Speaker 1: broth as you want. And I'm talking about a rich,
- 28:05Speaker 1: powerfully flavorede bone broth and keto coffee, which is black
- 28:09Speaker 1: coffee with either a coconut milk or coconut coconut fat
- 28:14Speaker 1: or grass fed butter in the blender. You probably heard
- 28:17Speaker 1: of this, you know bullet bulletproof coffee. It's the same thing.
- 28:21Speaker 1: And if you drink that in the morning and then
- 28:23Speaker 1: you continue to eat bone broth and have one meal
- 28:25Speaker 1: a day for three days, you'll get your body to
- 28:27Speaker 1: understand that you're serious. Your body will immediately understand something
- 28:32Speaker 1: is different and it will convert it's car burning engines
- 28:36Speaker 1: into fat burning engines pretty quickly. During that time, you
- 28:40Speaker 1: have to stay a hund percent hydrated. So let me
- 28:43Speaker 1: explain hydration. Your your muscle cells are seventy water. They're
- 28:49Speaker 1: made out of water. If they are deprived of hydration,
- 28:52Speaker 1: if they are hydrogen starved, they do not work. It's
- 28:56Speaker 1: like trying to run a sports car with a few
- 28:58Speaker 1: quarts of oil. Short you can do it. So you
- 29:01Speaker 1: have to stay hydrated. And stay hydrated means drinking at
- 29:04Speaker 1: least four of these a day, if not five or six.
- 29:07Speaker 1: It should be half your body weight an ounces. So
- 29:10Speaker 1: if you wait two hundred pounds a hundred ounces of
- 29:12Speaker 1: water and so on, you need to You need to
- 29:15Speaker 1: be drinking enough water where you're you're going to the
- 29:18Speaker 1: bathroom a little more frequently because your body knows it
- 29:20Speaker 1: can process the water instead of storing it. And those
- 29:23Speaker 1: are all parts of getting into the keyto diet. Then
- 29:26Speaker 1: in Tier two I add two more meals to the day,
- 29:29Speaker 1: and Tier or three I had another meal. Tier four
- 29:31Speaker 1: I add dessert. That is a twenty day plan. I'm
- 29:36Speaker 1: gonna do it. You don't need to do it. Look
- 29:38Speaker 1: at you're in great shape. You don't need to know.
- 29:40Speaker 1: You can try it, and you can try it and
- 29:42Speaker 1: tell your fans if it works or not. I'm gonna
- 29:44Speaker 1: do at least for ten days. You know, I got
- 29:50Speaker 1: bad habits there, all right. It sounds like it sounds
- 29:55Speaker 1: like you cook a lot of your bad habits very free,
- 29:59Speaker 1: very frequently. So. But ketos keto diets are also therapeutic
- 30:03Speaker 1: in other ways, not just for weight loss. It reduces
- 30:07Speaker 1: your A one C. It can reduce your A one C,
- 30:09Speaker 1: which is a big number for those who are you know,
- 30:12Speaker 1: thinking about type two diabetes. That's the number you're always
- 30:16Speaker 1: looking at blood gluecoast levels. Uh. It can some people
- 30:20Speaker 1: feel like they get a brain boost from a keto diet.
- 30:24Speaker 1: So there are a number of therapeutic benefits other than
- 30:28Speaker 1: weight loss that you should be looking for as well. Energy. Wow,
- 30:34Speaker 1: thank you for coming on my show, man, my spreasure.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Really really, I've heard about you for a while. I
- 30:40Speaker 1: was actually one of your You produced me on the
- 30:42Speaker 1: Steve Harvey Show about ten years ago, and I appreciate
- 30:46Speaker 1: that and I'm thrilled to be on. Well. Well, first
- 30:48Speaker 1: of all, uh, I'm a fan, and uh I'm gonna
- 30:52Speaker 1: reach out to you and let you know when I
- 30:54Speaker 1: started because I'm gonna do with the Chocolate Days donut
- 30:56Speaker 1: for my staff and the cinnamon roll bytes. I'm gonna
- 30:59Speaker 1: do a lot of this stuff. I know I'm doing
- 31:00Speaker 1: a hot Crispe keto fried chicken, and I'm gonna look
- 31:03Speaker 1: through the book and I'm gonna start to die. Probably.
- 31:05Speaker 1: My birthday is February, Okay, so cool. So I'm gonna
- 31:10Speaker 1: probably start like the last like January. It's one gonna
- 31:14Speaker 1: start all right, because okay, because alright, sixty four, I'll
- 31:18Speaker 1: be sixty four, and so I want to test today. Wow,
- 31:24Speaker 1: you look amazing. I'm trying to look at the camera
- 31:27Speaker 1: so you know it doesn't look like I'm not looking
- 31:29Speaker 1: at it. I have to look close. Now you do
- 31:31Speaker 1: not look sixty four. And uh, I wanna use your
- 31:35Speaker 1: die to slive me right on in there, sir, Thank
- 31:38Speaker 1: you for coming to Thank you, brother. I appreciate you.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Man my pleasure. Thanks for having me on and we
