Latest / The Ben Ferguson Podcast / Schumer Shuts Down the Government, over his Job
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: It is official at twelve oh one am. The governments
- 0:05Speaker 1: shut down. Why because Democrats are holding Americans hostage, refusing
- 0:11Speaker 1: to do what Republicans did seven times during the Biden
- 0:14Speaker 1: administration simply agreed to a continuing resolution until the broader
- 0:20Speaker 1: government plan, the financial plan could be agreed to. But
- 0:24Speaker 1: this time the Democrats said no. Why they want to
- 0:28Speaker 1: hurt Americans and they want to put illegal immigrants first.
- 0:32Speaker 1: We have a lot to talk about when it comes
- 0:35Speaker 1: to what all happened. And now this all comes down
- 0:38Speaker 1: to the Senate because the overall plan has already made
- 0:41Speaker 1: its way out of the House.
- 0:43Speaker 2: So what is next?
- 0:45Speaker 1: But first I want to talk to you about my
- 0:46Speaker 1: friends over at Patriot Mobile. You've got a lot of
- 0:49Speaker 1: choices for cell phone service, with new ones popping up
- 0:53Speaker 1: all the time. But if you want to make a
- 0:55Speaker 1: difference and you want to stop giving your money to
- 0:58Speaker 1: liberal companies, well way you can do that is by
- 1:01Speaker 1: getting rid of Liberal Mobile you probably have right now.
- 1:05Speaker 1: That is where hundreds of thousands of Americans are now
- 1:08Speaker 1: coming together and have made Patriot Mobile what they are today.
- 1:11Speaker 1: They've been in service now for thirteen years, and right
- 1:15Speaker 1: now is the best time ever to switch because it's
- 1:19Speaker 1: never been easier. Now, before I tell you about that,
- 1:22Speaker 1: I want you to know why switching is so important.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Because every time you make a call, every time you
- 1:26Speaker 1: send a text, and every time that you pay your bill,
- 1:29Speaker 1: you're actually standing up for the values you believe in.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Your First and your Second Amendment rights, the rights of
- 1:35Speaker 1: unborn children. And you stand with our military, our veterans,
- 1:38Speaker 1: our wounded warriors, and our fallen soldier families. Because Patriot
- 1:42Speaker 1: Mobile takes about five percent of your bill every month
- 1:45Speaker 1: at no extra cost to you, and they give it
- 1:47Speaker 1: back to these organizations that fight for our values. Now,
- 1:51Speaker 1: let's talk about switching. It has never been easier. You
- 1:54Speaker 1: can keep your same number, keep your same phone, or upgrade.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Patriot Mobile's got one hundred percent US based customer service
- 2:01Speaker 1: team and literally they can now with technology, get you
- 2:04Speaker 1: activated in minutes from the comfort your home or your office.
- 2:08Speaker 1: You're second a contractor owe money on your phones, no worries.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Patriot Mobile has a contract buyout program and this is
- 2:15Speaker 1: how we win, folks by aligning our spinning with our values.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Every dollar we spend matters. Now, let me also give
- 2:22Speaker 1: you a free month of service. Go to Patriot Mobile
- 2:25Speaker 1: dot com slash ferguson. That's Patriot Mobile dot com slash ferguson,
- 2:32Speaker 1: or you can call them nine to seven to two Patriot.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Use the promo code ferguson, and you're gonna get one
- 2:39Speaker 1: month free service by switching today. So again, Patriotmobile dot
- 2:43Speaker 1: com slash ferguson, use the promo code ferguson. You'll get
- 2:46Speaker 1: a free month of service today Patriotmobile dot com slash
- 2:49Speaker 1: ferguson or nine to seven to two Patriot. So the
- 2:52Speaker 1: government is shut down right now, and the question is
- 2:55Speaker 1: where do we go from here. I want you to
- 2:57Speaker 1: hear what Senator Cruz had to say, because all this
- 2:59Speaker 1: revolved around what's happening in the Senate. The United States
- 3:03Speaker 1: government is shut down. The Democrats they did it on purpose,
- 3:07Speaker 1: apparently it was their plan. And the question is for
- 3:10Speaker 1: how long have they been planning on doing this? Center
- 3:14Speaker 1: This is going to be a very interesting show. This
- 3:16Speaker 1: all revolves around the Senate. That is something that maybe
- 3:21Speaker 1: some people don't realize. Everything's come out of the House.
- 3:24Speaker 1: We're now to the Senate side of things, and I
- 3:26Speaker 1: want you to explain what it was like in the
- 3:29Speaker 1: hours leading up to the shutdown. Was there ever a
- 3:32Speaker 1: chance in hell that the government wasn't going to shut down?
- 3:35Speaker 3: No, that there was never a chance. It is just
- 3:38Speaker 3: after midnight, so the government is shut down just for
- 3:41Speaker 3: a few minutes. But I think the government shutdown is
- 3:46Speaker 3: going to last at a minimum of days. It may
- 3:49Speaker 3: be weeks, and it may even be longer. Really, yes,
- 3:54Speaker 3: this could extend for a significant period of time. And
- 3:57Speaker 3: understand this is the Democrats roar that they hate Donald Trump.
- 4:05Speaker 3: So I got to say. We had the vote tonight.
- 4:08Speaker 3: There was no surprise. Everyone knew the outcome. Out of
- 4:11Speaker 3: one hundred senators, all of us knew the outcome. The
- 4:14Speaker 3: vote was fifty five to forty five. So three Democrat
- 4:19Speaker 3: senators voted to keep the government open.
- 4:23Speaker 1: You have it was a pretty big deal, right, I mean,
- 4:25Speaker 1: did you think those three were going to go?
- 4:27Speaker 2: Where? Did you think it was going to be a
- 4:28Speaker 2: unanimous vote?
- 4:29Speaker 1: I mean Fetterman and two others like that's that is significant.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Yeah, look, Fetterman, I was not surprised. So Fetterman voted
- 4:35Speaker 3: to keep the government open, courtes Master voter to keep
- 4:38Speaker 3: the government open, and Angus King voted to keep the
- 4:41Speaker 3: government open. That's not shocking to me. It's fifty five
- 4:45Speaker 3: to forty five. Now, why did the government shut down? Look,
- 4:48Speaker 3: the basic operation of government is the federal government cannot
- 4:53Speaker 3: continue to operate unless Congress appropriates funds. Under the Constitution,
- 4:58Speaker 3: Congress has the power of the perse, so Congress appropriates
- 5:02Speaker 3: the spending of money. A typical fiscal year is October
- 5:08Speaker 3: first to September thirtieth.
- 5:10Speaker 2: YEP.
- 5:12Speaker 3: This particular funding ended at midnight on September thirtieth. You
- 5:16Speaker 3: and I are recording this just after minutes after midnight
- 5:20Speaker 3: on September thirtieth. The appropriation, the authorization for Congress to
- 5:26Speaker 3: spend money expired minutes ago. Now, there are a couple
- 5:30Speaker 3: of ways you can extend the government funding.
- 5:32Speaker 2: One is an.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Appropriation and so they're typically in a good year. They
- 5:36Speaker 3: are thirteen appropriation bills that fund each different kind of
- 5:41Speaker 3: major segment of government. For a number of years, the
- 5:43Speaker 3: appropriation bills have not passed. The other major way that
- 5:48Speaker 3: government authorization occurs is through what are called crs. CR
- 5:53Speaker 3: is short for continual resolution. A continued resolution is essentially
- 5:57Speaker 3: Congress saying what we are spending now, now we can
- 6:01Speaker 3: continue continue the status quo identically for x period of time. Now,
- 6:06Speaker 3: the House of Representatives pasted a CR, a clean CR
- 6:10Speaker 3: to fund the federal government through the middle of November.
- 6:13Speaker 3: So if the Senate had passed it.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Oh, let's be clear.
- 6:15Speaker 1: When you say a clean CR, that means no political
- 6:19Speaker 1: shenanigans in it. It's literally saying, we're taking the twenty
- 6:23Speaker 1: five budget year and we're going to say the exact
- 6:27Speaker 1: same amount we spent in August, we're gonna spend September, October,
- 6:30Speaker 1: November until we get the new budget. There is no
- 6:33Speaker 1: port barrel extras, there's no political sag against from either side.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yes, okay. A clean CR says what we
- 6:42Speaker 3: spent yesterday is what we'll spend tomorrow, that everything just
- 6:46Speaker 3: continues the same, and that's what the House has passed. Now.
- 6:51Speaker 3: The challenge is for anything to pass the Senate that
- 6:54Speaker 3: is in the nature of an appropriations or a CR,
- 6:57Speaker 3: it takes sixty votes because under the filibuster rule, you've
- 7:02Speaker 3: got to have sixty votes to move forward on legislation. So,
- 7:05Speaker 3: as I mentioned, we got fifty five, we got three Democrats,
- 7:09Speaker 3: but we need sixty, which means we need at least
- 7:13Speaker 3: seven Democrats. And actually here we need eight Democrats because
- 7:16Speaker 3: Ran Paul voted no. So we had fifty two Republicans
- 7:20Speaker 3: vote yes, and we needed eight Democrats to vote yes
- 7:23Speaker 3: to fund the government. Well we only got three.
- 7:28Speaker 2: And that was on purpose.
- 7:30Speaker 1: And I want to pause just for a second to
- 7:31Speaker 1: go back to the cr historically. Let's just go back
- 7:35Speaker 1: to Biden's time in office when you guys were in
- 7:38Speaker 1: the minority. If I'm not mistaken, you guys did this
- 7:43Speaker 1: more than a dozen times where you came to.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Go and say, hey, matained a thirteen time.
- 7:47Speaker 1: All right, So thirteen different times y'all came together and
- 7:51Speaker 1: said we're gonna spend exactly what we spent yesterday to
- 7:54Speaker 1: keep the government open so we avoid a government shut down.
- 7:58Speaker 1: And you put the America can people ahead of politics,
- 8:02Speaker 1: and that is a bipartisan moment, right, They had to
- 8:04Speaker 1: have some of your votes.
- 8:06Speaker 3: So look, every time we came to the end of
- 8:08Speaker 3: government funding, you would have enough Republicans join with Democrats
- 8:12Speaker 3: to keep the government funded. Now what has changed, Well,
- 8:16Speaker 3: several months ago we had another expiration of government funding.
- 8:20Speaker 3: And what happened is Chuck Schumer and the Democrats decided, okay,
- 8:24Speaker 3: let's keep the government going a very reasonable and very
- 8:27Speaker 3: common sense, a very normal decision. The Democratic left wing
- 8:31Speaker 3: base lost their mind and Chuck Schumer nearly lost his
- 8:37Speaker 3: job because Schumer allowed the government to be funded several
- 8:41Speaker 3: months ago. The left wing rose up against him. And
- 8:45Speaker 3: you want to understand why we have a shutdown. It's
- 8:48Speaker 3: one thing. Schumer is looking over his left shoulder and
- 8:52Speaker 3: he sees AOC running up behind him, and he is
- 8:56Speaker 3: terrified he's going to lose his job. So listen, Schumer
- 9:00Speaker 3: knows this is not going to work. He knows this
- 9:03Speaker 3: is failures.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Just pure cover your als politics one oh one by Schumer.
- 9:09Speaker 3: So the radical left wing, they hate Trump and they
- 9:13Speaker 3: want today to be a giant f you to Trump.
- 9:17Speaker 3: They want it to be we hate President Trump, and
- 9:21Speaker 3: we hate President Trump so much we're gonna shut the
- 9:24Speaker 3: entire government down because rar that's what we're watching now.
- 9:29Speaker 1: By the way, So then hold on, when did this
- 9:32Speaker 1: become the plan?
- 9:33Speaker 2: Was this weeks ago?
- 9:34Speaker 1: Months ago? Was this when they had the last year?
- 9:37Speaker 1: As I got the next time it comes up, I
- 9:38Speaker 1: have no choice. I got to shut down the government
- 9:40Speaker 1: to flex my muscles. And also there is a real
- 9:43Speaker 1: concern by him that AOC is going to run against him,
- 9:47Speaker 1: primary him in the Senate. By the way, that is
- 9:50Speaker 1: after the next president's election cycle?
- 9:52Speaker 4: Was that?
- 9:52Speaker 2: And that isn't he up two years after? If I'm
- 9:54Speaker 2: not mistaken, So you got five plus years from now.
- 9:57Speaker 3: So, and to be clear, I have predicted on this
- 9:59Speaker 3: podcast the inaugural member the chairman of the AOC for
- 10:03Speaker 3: President campaign is Chuck Schumer because he is desperate for
- 10:08Speaker 3: AOC not to primary him. Yea, He's gonna say, Alexandra,
- 10:12Speaker 3: you are such a big deal, you were so important. Really,
- 10:15Speaker 3: the Senate's too small for you. Why do you want
- 10:18Speaker 3: to bother being in the Senate? You should be in
- 10:21Speaker 3: the White House. Schumer is going to be all in
- 10:23Speaker 3: on that, but he is living with absolute PTSD. He
- 10:28Speaker 3: is traumatized. He sees left wing antifa crazies coming around
- 10:35Speaker 3: on every side, and so from his end, this shutdown
- 10:40Speaker 3: is necessary politically. Now, what did the Democrats demand? They
- 10:43Speaker 3: demanded a lot of things, you know what the number
- 10:45Speaker 3: one demand was.
- 10:46Speaker 2: What's that?
- 10:48Speaker 3: Free healthcare for illegals all over the country.
- 10:52Speaker 1: By the way, I mean, when you think about that
- 10:54Speaker 1: and the polling data and what it says, I don't
- 10:58Speaker 1: understand why that would make your nonumber one thing, because
- 11:00Speaker 1: it's clear that the people are behind President Trump. Securing
- 11:03Speaker 1: our borders, stopping government waste for aunt of abuse dogs
- 11:06Speaker 1: was a big part of it. And also making sure
- 11:08Speaker 1: that we're not giving out benefits to illegal immigrants. So like, no, no, no, no,
- 11:12Speaker 1: we want to spend one point five trillion if you
- 11:14Speaker 1: want our votes, and it has to be for health
- 11:16Speaker 1: care for illegal immigrants and food stamps for people that
- 11:18Speaker 1: are able bodied, for example, that refuse to work. That's
- 11:22Speaker 1: another thing, and they're like, no, no, no, we buy gal.
- 11:24Speaker 1: You better get mind to people that are just straight
- 11:26Speaker 1: up lazy, that aren't that that have the ability to work,
- 11:29Speaker 1: but you got to pay them to stay home.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Yeah. A huge pump chunk of this is getting rid
- 11:34Speaker 3: of the work requirement for government benefits. Democrats don't want
- 11:38Speaker 3: anyone to have to work. They wanted them to be
- 11:40Speaker 3: able to sit at home and get government checks. But
- 11:43Speaker 3: did you see the AI video the White House put out?
- 11:46Speaker 1: Which one? They put out a couple different things. Which
- 11:49Speaker 1: one are you talking about?
- 11:50Speaker 3: I want you, I want I want to play this
- 11:52Speaker 3: for everyone. Okay, this is fake, So so all the
- 11:57Speaker 3: nattering nabobs, this is fake news, but it is absolutely hysterical.
- 12:01Speaker 3: The White House put out This is Chuck Schumer and
- 12:04Speaker 3: a Keem Jeffries explaining what this shutdown is all about.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Take a listen to this.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Look, guys, there's no way to sugarcoat it. Nobody likes
- 12:13Speaker 5: Democrats anymore. We have no voters left because of all
- 12:16Speaker 5: of our woke trans bullsh Not even black people want
- 12:19Speaker 5: to vote for us anymore. Even Latinos hate us.
- 12:21Speaker 2: So we need new voters.
- 12:23Speaker 5: And if we give all these illegal aliens free healthcare,
- 12:28Speaker 5: we might be able to get them on our side
- 12:30Speaker 5: so they can vote for us. They can't even speak English,
- 12:33Speaker 5: so they won't realize we're just a bunch of woke
- 12:36Speaker 5: pieces of shit, you know, at least for a while
- 12:39Speaker 5: until they learn English and they realize they hate us too.
- 12:43Speaker 1: See, this is when I love AI. This is when
- 12:45Speaker 1: I absolutely love the spear from the President. And if
- 12:49Speaker 1: you can't see this, you need to go look at it.
- 12:50Speaker 1: We put up on social media, the videos and Jeffries
- 12:53Speaker 1: has got a really nice Hannibar mustache and a sombrero on.
- 12:57Speaker 3: So look, pause for a second and realize that was
- 13:02Speaker 3: released by the White House. That was released by the
- 13:06Speaker 3: President of the United States. I feel a little guilty
- 13:09Speaker 3: because we've got some cursewords in there. We try to
- 13:12Speaker 3: avoid cursewords on this podcast. But what do you do
- 13:16Speaker 3: when the president has put that out?
- 13:19Speaker 2: You pay it.
- 13:21Speaker 3: And I gotta say the video sits today at lunch.
- 13:24Speaker 3: So every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, all the Republican senators
- 13:28Speaker 3: have lunch together. Today at lunch, John Thune met with
- 13:32Speaker 3: the President, met with Schumer, met with the King Jeffries
- 13:35Speaker 3: at the White House. And so Thune was giving us
- 13:38Speaker 3: a download on that. And you know, Thune was talking about, Okay,
- 13:42Speaker 3: the Democrats, they don't want to cut a deal. They're
- 13:44Speaker 3: not willing to give it on anything. And I will confess.
- 13:47Speaker 3: I raised my hand.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I question.
- 13:49Speaker 3: I said, John was a King Jeffries wearing the sombrero.
- 13:56Speaker 2: And what did he say?
- 13:57Speaker 3: He just laughed. But look and and everyone cracked up.
- 14:01Speaker 3: But that image. Listen, the Democrats have literally shut down
- 14:06Speaker 3: the federal government because they want free health care for
- 14:10Speaker 3: every illegal alien in America. Yeah, you want to talk about,
- 14:14Speaker 3: like on every issue that's eighty twenty or even ninety ten,
- 14:18Speaker 3: they're on the twenty or the ten side. The American
- 14:21Speaker 3: people do not support if you want to have a
- 14:24Speaker 3: referendum in this country, should we give illegals free health care? Wow?
- 14:28Speaker 3: That will be overwhelming.
- 14:30Speaker 2: But here's the secret.
- 14:33Speaker 3: This shutdown is not actually about free health care for illegals.
- 14:37Speaker 3: That's what the Democrats have hung their hat on because
- 14:39Speaker 3: they got to say they want.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Some they gotta say something, right.
- 14:43Speaker 3: This is all about just we hate Donald Trump and
- 14:48Speaker 3: it is Chuck Schumer job preservation. And that also means
- 14:54Speaker 3: the end of this. Okay, there's no universe in which
- 14:57Speaker 3: Chuck Schumer will get President Trump to agree to let's
- 15:02Speaker 3: give free health care to illegals.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Yeah, not going to happen. They know that, Yeah, they're entering.
- 15:06Speaker 3: There's no universe in which Republicans in Congress are going
- 15:09Speaker 3: to say, hey, that's a great idea, let's give free
- 15:11Speaker 3: health care to every illegal. Like that's you might as
- 15:15Speaker 3: well ask for Area fifty one, like to release the
- 15:18Speaker 3: Martians and let them take over the country. That is
- 15:21Speaker 3: as likely to happen as free health care for illegals
- 15:24Speaker 3: from Republicans. The Democrats know that this is not about
- 15:28Speaker 3: getting what they're demanding. This is about how long do
- 15:33Speaker 3: they want to demonstrate Orange Man bade and so.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Do you actually believe And let's go back to the
- 15:44Speaker 1: history of the Senate here. I don't believe that Chuck
- 15:47Speaker 1: Schumer actually wanted to shut down the government now, No,
- 15:50Speaker 1: I think he was forced to do it.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Yeah, he would lose his job. He would lose his
- 15:55Speaker 3: job if the government was Yes.
- 16:00Speaker 2: In other words, this is weird.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Chuck Schumer is being held hostage by the Marxist communists
- 16:04Speaker 1: and socialists in his party, which they did not police
- 16:07Speaker 1: and they allowed to take over their party. Then he's
- 16:11Speaker 1: now holding the American people hostage with a government shutdown,
- 16:15Speaker 1: which brings me the big question. Even when we've had
- 16:18Speaker 1: shutdowns in the past, there has been some agreement center like, hey,
- 16:22Speaker 1: certain people should deserve to get paid, those that are
- 16:25Speaker 1: in the military, those badges, like the list is not
- 16:28Speaker 1: that long, but the essential important people that deserve to
- 16:32Speaker 1: get a paycheck. We don't screw with them when they're
- 16:34Speaker 1: protecting to fing this country. Can you guys, at least
- 16:38Speaker 1: was there an agreement to pay them?
- 16:40Speaker 2: Really?
- 16:41Speaker 1: Okay, so walk us through that, because I'm assuming that
- 16:43Speaker 1: came up at lunch.
- 16:45Speaker 3: So one of the things I did today is I
- 16:47Speaker 3: sent a letter because under the Constitution, members of Congress,
- 16:52Speaker 3: our pay cannot be stopped. It's actually unconstitutional to reduce
- 16:56Speaker 3: the compensation for members of Congress during the term we're
- 16:59Speaker 3: elected to. So I sent a letter, and I've done
- 17:02Speaker 3: this during every shutdown, saying while the government is shut down,
- 17:06Speaker 3: don't pay me. It's not fair. It's not right for
- 17:11Speaker 3: an elected member of Congress to receive a paycheck when
- 17:14Speaker 3: federal workers are not. Now, to be clear, I don't
- 17:17Speaker 3: lose my pay when the shutdown is over.
- 17:20Speaker 2: I'll get it's just deferred. But it's deferred.
- 17:23Speaker 1: But a lot of people don't understand that the long
- 17:26Speaker 1: which I think just asinine, and I have family members
- 17:30Speaker 1: work in the federal government, and they're like, the dumb
- 17:33Speaker 1: part about this that I think a lot of Americans
- 17:35Speaker 1: don't understand, yep, is that you don't miss a paycheck
- 17:39Speaker 1: in your calendar year. You just miss a month and
- 17:43Speaker 1: then you get it back data, you get it back
- 17:45Speaker 1: the next time whenever the government does open back up.
- 17:48Speaker 1: And so I know people that are in the FA
- 17:51Speaker 1: for example, they're like, dude, we just plan our vacations
- 17:53Speaker 1: like great trips around shutdowns because we know we're still
- 17:56Speaker 1: getting paid. We save not everybody can do that, but
- 17:59Speaker 1: like they've all was pre planned for this bonus vacation
- 18:02Speaker 1: and they're gonna get paid back.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Yeah, but let me make several points of clarification. Sure
- 18:07Speaker 3: number one, government shut down as a misnomer. More than
- 18:12Speaker 3: eighty percent of the government will continue to operate. So
- 18:15Speaker 3: the basic principle is everything that is essential keeps going.
- 18:20Speaker 3: So the military, our activity and military like defending the
- 18:25Speaker 3: nation against bad guys, that keeps going. The FBI catching criminals,
- 18:30Speaker 3: that keeps going. The border patrol and ice that keeps going.
- 18:34Speaker 3: The FAA air traffic controllers. Tomorrow, if you get on
- 18:38Speaker 3: an airplane, the air traffic controllers all go to work.
- 18:41Speaker 3: By the way, the air traffic controllers are not getting
- 18:45Speaker 3: a paycheck, so they're going to work. But every two
- 18:49Speaker 3: weeks federal government employees get paid. Air traffic controllers, coast guardsmen, military,
- 18:55Speaker 3: the federal government nobody gets a paycheck. And so what
- 18:59Speaker 3: show down. Every cabinet secretary was assigned designate among your
- 19:05Speaker 3: employees who is essential and who is not essential. I
- 19:09Speaker 3: remember when Bill Clinton was president, we had to shut down.
- 19:11Speaker 3: Then remember Newt Gingrich and the Republican Congress were fighting
- 19:14Speaker 3: with Bill Clinton. We had to shut down for a
- 19:16Speaker 3: number of weeks, and I remember there was a headline
- 19:18Speaker 3: that said the Department of Commerce designated thirty percent of
- 19:23Speaker 3: their employees is essential and seventy percent is not essential.
- 19:27Speaker 3: I remember thinking, that's great, we just set a new
- 19:30Speaker 3: benchline all those non essential. That's seventy percent they ought
- 19:34Speaker 3: to be done. But what that means, so what will
- 19:39Speaker 3: be shut down? Starting October one? National parks will be
- 19:43Speaker 3: shut down. So I got to say, if you were
- 19:45Speaker 3: planning to take your family to Yosemite this weekend, I'm
- 19:50Speaker 3: sorry to say you're out of luck. Yosemite will be closed.
- 19:53Speaker 3: If you were coming to d C to tour our
- 19:55Speaker 3: nation's capital, you wanted to go to the Smithsonian, go
- 19:58Speaker 3: to the Air and Space Museum, it's the Smithsonian will
- 20:01Speaker 3: be shut down.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Uh.
- 20:03Speaker 3: If you look at things like the National Institute of Health,
- 20:06Speaker 3: like research on cancer, much of that will be shut down.
- 20:11Speaker 1: All across that's non essential. When people are just say
- 20:14Speaker 1: that seems insane. Why wouldn't we fix that to make
- 20:16Speaker 1: sure when we have these shenanigans happen that that's not affected.
- 20:21Speaker 3: And I think this shutdown will extend. I think it'll
- 20:25Speaker 3: be weeks. I think it will be Schumer is trying
- 20:29Speaker 3: to protect his own rear end and everything else is
- 20:33Speaker 3: secondary to protecting his own political life. So I think
- 20:36Speaker 3: we will see an extended shutdown.
- 20:38Speaker 2: So is this polling?
- 20:39Speaker 4: Then?
- 20:39Speaker 1: I mean, how do you decide when you won or
- 20:42Speaker 1: you lost if you're Schumer, Because this is not about
- 20:45Speaker 1: the country hating Schumer. This is only about New York.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I'm protecting a seat from AOC. So in essence, you
- 20:52Speaker 1: don't care how many people hate you in the country.
- 20:55Speaker 1: It's only a New York thing, is that. I mean, well,
- 20:57Speaker 1: they do polling. I mean this is weird.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Yeah. Look, so this is being called the Schumer shutdown. Yeah,
- 21:04Speaker 3: and I gotta say the Democrats are losing the messaging battle.
- 21:09Speaker 3: It is clear this is a Democrat shutdown. There was
- 21:12Speaker 3: actually exchange right before we had the vote on the
- 21:15Speaker 3: CR to keep the government open, and this is a
- 21:17Speaker 3: clean CR. No rioters, no nothing, this is just keep
- 21:20Speaker 3: every keep the lights on, status quo. Schumer stood up
- 21:24Speaker 3: and was speaking, and all the senators or most of
- 21:26Speaker 3: us were standing on the Senate floor, and Schumer said, look,
- 21:30Speaker 3: there's been reference to polling. But the polling has been biased.
- 21:35Speaker 3: It's been right wing polling, for example, the New York Times.
- 21:41Speaker 3: And I got to tell you, I and every other
- 21:43Speaker 3: Republican we just started cracking up, laughing, and you could
- 21:46Speaker 3: see Schumer. He actually turned red. He looked sheepish because
- 21:50Speaker 3: he just said on the Senate floor that the New
- 21:53Speaker 3: York Times was a biased right wing poll. Yeah. And
- 22:00Speaker 3: it was a moment where where like Schumer, you saw
- 22:03Speaker 3: Democrats looking at him going, dude, you look like that's weak.
- 22:08Speaker 3: And that's because the New York Times did a poll
- 22:11Speaker 3: if the Democrats don't get everything they want, should they
- 22:14Speaker 3: shut the government down? And sixty five percent of Americans
- 22:17Speaker 3: said no, don't shut the government down. It was a
- 22:20Speaker 3: small percentage. It was just over twenty percent of Americans
- 22:24Speaker 3: that said yes, shut the government down. So that's who
- 22:27Speaker 3: the Democrats are responding to. But they've got Schumer's message
- 22:31Speaker 3: is the New York Times is a right wing mouthpiece,
- 22:34Speaker 3: and how dare you tell the American people that we
- 22:38Speaker 3: the Democrats, are shutting the government down. This is headed
- 22:42Speaker 3: to failure. Everyone knows that, every Republican knows that, every
- 22:46Speaker 3: Democrat knows that is there an outcome where Republicans say, okay, great,
- 22:50Speaker 3: let's fund healthcare free illegals. No, the Democrats will give in.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Three Democrats voted to fund the government. What will happen
- 22:59Speaker 3: is the government is shut down. People are gonna get
- 23:02Speaker 3: ticked off, people are gonna want to like us. By
- 23:06Speaker 3: the way, things like passport services will be greatly reduced.
- 23:09Speaker 3: All sorts of government. Now listen, the military keeps going,
- 23:13Speaker 3: law enforcement keep going, Social Security keeps going, Medicare keeps going,
- 23:16Speaker 3: Medicaid keeps going. An awful lot of government keeps going.
- 23:21Speaker 3: But the lack of government being open will be a
- 23:24Speaker 3: serious function. And at some point we will see seven
- 23:28Speaker 3: or eight Democrats say enough is enough, reopen the government.
- 23:32Speaker 2: That will happen.
- 23:32Speaker 3: But let me tell you a huge piece that is
- 23:35Speaker 3: an X factor in this, which is Russ Vote, who
- 23:40Speaker 3: is the head of OMB, the Office of Management and
- 23:42Speaker 3: Budget works for the White House. He put out a
- 23:45Speaker 3: memo a week ago that said, if there is a
- 23:49Speaker 3: government shutdown, we are going to lay off federal workers.
- 23:53Speaker 3: We're not going to give them a furlough.
- 23:56Speaker 1: This is the brilliant game of chess that was early
- 24:01Speaker 1: on preemptive yep, warning you do this, and here's what
- 24:06Speaker 1: we were going to do. And this might be one
- 24:09Speaker 1: of the best moves I've seen politically in a long
- 24:11Speaker 1: time in DC, which is go ahead, do it and
- 24:14Speaker 1: watch what happens, because as a lot of people that are
- 24:16Speaker 1: going to get loser jobs, and that's going to be
- 24:18Speaker 1: on you guys for allowing it to happen.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Right, So explain all that.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Yes, So Russ is a good friend, he's a strong conservative,
- 24:25Speaker 3: he's a strong fiscal conservative. And what he said is, listen,
- 24:28Speaker 3: if Congress decides not to fund the federal government, we're
- 24:33Speaker 3: going to react to that. By the White House is
- 24:37Speaker 3: instructed every cabinet agency to prepare a plan for a
- 24:41Speaker 3: riff a reduction in force to give permanent layoffs pink
- 24:45Speaker 3: slips to government bureaucrats who are left wing bureaucrats who
- 24:49Speaker 3: are advancing the priorities of the Democrat Party. So what
- 24:54Speaker 3: you are going to see in the next few days,
- 24:57Speaker 3: You're going to see bureaucrats at the EPA fired. You're
- 25:02Speaker 3: gonna see bureaucrats at the Department of Labor fired. You're
- 25:07Speaker 3: gonna see bureaucrats at the RS fired. And within a
- 25:11Speaker 3: couple of days we're gonna see Democrat senators. They're gonna
- 25:15Speaker 3: be in their lunches screaming at each other because this
- 25:18Speaker 3: is frankly an excuse for the Trump administration to do
- 25:22Speaker 3: what they wanted to do anyway, which is get rid
- 25:24Speaker 3: of left wing bureaucrats. But they now have an incredible justification,
- 25:29Speaker 3: which is, hey, Congress chose not to fund them, so
- 25:33Speaker 3: instead of giving them a paid vacation, stay home several
- 25:37Speaker 3: weeks and then we'll pay you back pay and come
- 25:39Speaker 3: back to your job. They're gonna even pick slip and
- 25:42Speaker 3: say you're done. You no longer have a job. And
- 25:45Speaker 3: I think that is going to ratchet up the pressure
- 25:47Speaker 3: on Democrats massively.
- 25:50Speaker 1: So how quickly can these firings take place? How massive
- 25:54Speaker 1: could they be today? And how much research has been
- 25:58Speaker 1: done behind the scenes to get rid of a lot
- 26:00Speaker 1: of these woke bureaucrats that we that we've been wanting
- 26:04Speaker 1: to get rid of, that the President's wanting to get
- 26:07Speaker 1: the cabinet secretaries of wanting to get rid of, like
- 26:09Speaker 1: I mean, I'm assuming they're burning the midnight oil kind
- 26:12Speaker 1: of like doag did. Let's find the people we want
- 26:14Speaker 1: to get rid of. And this is our chance to
- 26:16Speaker 1: do it. And and by the way, once it's done,
- 26:18Speaker 1: like it's not like he got from their jobs back
- 26:20Speaker 1: like it's done.
- 26:21Speaker 3: So I think that starts happening today. I think October one,
- 26:26Speaker 3: you start seeing pink slips. I think we will see
- 26:30Speaker 3: left wing bureaucrats fired today. I think we'll see them
- 26:35Speaker 3: fired tomorrow.
- 26:36Speaker 2: You know.
- 26:36Speaker 3: This evening, I had dinner with the Deputy Secretary of
- 26:39Speaker 3: HHS who's a longtime friend of mine. He was actually
- 26:42Speaker 3: a groom some in my wedding. Great guy, I asked him.
- 26:45Speaker 3: I said, okay, the White House asked every cabinet agency
- 26:49Speaker 3: preparing list of people for the riff, and he said, yeah,
- 26:54Speaker 3: we're doing that. He said, every agency, when the White
- 26:56Speaker 3: House directs us to do that, we do that. We're
- 26:58Speaker 3: going to see I think one hundred, if not thousands,
- 27:01Speaker 3: of left wing bureaucrats fired in the next several days.
- 27:05Speaker 3: I think that's going to put the Democrat Party in crisis.
- 27:08Speaker 3: And by the way, we're not going to fire people
- 27:12Speaker 3: that are critical for the priorities you care you and
- 27:15Speaker 3: I care about. So we're not going to see border
- 27:17Speaker 3: patrol agents who are securing the border fired. We're not
- 27:20Speaker 3: going to see ICE agents who are deporting gang bangers fired.
- 27:24Speaker 3: We're not going to see FBI agents who are catching pedophiles.
- 27:28Speaker 3: We're not going to see them fired. We're not going
- 27:30Speaker 3: to see soldiers and sailors and airmen and marines who
- 27:33Speaker 3: are keeping this nation safe, We're not going to see
- 27:35Speaker 3: them fired. We're going to see bureaucrats who are shutting
- 27:39Speaker 3: down factories, who are destroying jobs, who are pursuing radical
- 27:45Speaker 3: left wing agendas. They're going to be the ones fired,
- 27:49Speaker 3: and ultimately the Democrats are going to cave. The only
- 27:53Speaker 3: question is how long Schumer wants to go through this
- 27:57Speaker 3: charade before he gives in.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Brings me my final question, that is the media does
- 28:02Speaker 1: seem to be covering this a little bit more with
- 28:05Speaker 1: honesty than I've ever seen them before. Today there was
- 28:08Speaker 1: a viral clip that is, the tables have been turned.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Democrats are now literally under fire, uh for a clip
- 28:15Speaker 1: that shows them slamming government shut down tactics, the same
- 28:18Speaker 1: ones they're accused of using right now. And here's what
- 28:21Speaker 1: it sounded like back in twenty eighteen. In December of
- 28:24Speaker 1: twenty eighteen, Donald Trump was president. Chuck Schimer Nain's Posi
- 28:27Speaker 1: in the Oval office.
- 28:29Speaker 5: Listen, we do not want to shut down the government
- 28:31Speaker 5: because you can't you shut it down. Yeah, let me
- 28:34Speaker 5: say something, mister President North Dakota.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Most unfortunate that we came in here in good faith
- 28:40Speaker 4: and we're entering into this kind of a discussion in
- 28:45Speaker 4: the public.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Transparency.
- 28:49Speaker 4: I know, it's high transparency when we're not stipulating to
- 28:52Speaker 4: a set of facts.
- 28:53Speaker 1: I mean, you listen to that one. They're like, we're
- 28:55Speaker 1: not in favor of it. And then the speaker also
- 28:58Speaker 1: put out a very inter yes video montage reminding people
- 29:04Speaker 1: the same thing, like, Hey, you guys think that it's
- 29:07Speaker 1: the Democrats. Mike Johnson putting this out and here he
- 29:10Speaker 1: is and what he said to remind the people about
- 29:12Speaker 1: Democrats in their own words, it is not.
- 29:18Speaker 5: Normal to shut down the government when we don't get
- 29:21Speaker 5: what we want. If the government shuts down, it will
- 29:23Speaker 5: be average Americans who suffer most. A government shutdown means
- 29:27Speaker 5: seniors who rely on Social Security could be thrown into chaos.
- 29:31Speaker 5: Families will be hurt, Farmers will be hurt.
- 29:35Speaker 4: It's the service members who will work without a pay chet,
- 29:39Speaker 4: It's the firefighters who will be furlough the shut down.
- 29:43Speaker 2: You know who's gonna feel the pain. You know who
- 29:45Speaker 2: it hurts you.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Everyday people and the most vulnerable seniors, veterans, work in families,
- 29:52Speaker 3: hungary kids, y'all.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Democratic signal in that they're ready fight this time.
- 30:01Speaker 5: Schuma tells the Associated Press, Well, things have changed. It
- 30:05Speaker 5: is not normal to shut down the government when we
- 30:07Speaker 5: don't get what we want.
- 30:09Speaker 1: I mean, I love them using AOC's words. I feel
- 30:13Speaker 1: like the media has changed a little bit.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Here your thoughts.
- 30:15Speaker 3: On that, well, I'm impressed that you recognize AOC's voice.
- 30:20Speaker 2: I didn't know.
- 30:20Speaker 3: I knew that was a shrill Democrat. I didn't know
- 30:22Speaker 3: who that was. So I appreciate that clarity. Listen, every
- 30:28Speaker 3: single Democrat, I think, without exception, has gone on record
- 30:32Speaker 3: being against shutdowns. The fact that they shut it all
- 30:35Speaker 3: down today demonstrates what utter hypocrites they are. And I
- 30:39Speaker 3: got to say as I was walking off the Senate floor,
- 30:42Speaker 3: so I voted to fund the government this afternoon. The
- 30:46Speaker 3: Democrats voted against it and caused a shut down. All
- 30:49Speaker 3: the reporters were circling and they're talking. Point that they
- 30:53Speaker 3: really wanted to press is they said, Okay, Cruz in
- 30:57Speaker 3: twenty thirteen in the over Obamacare, you Ted Cruz forced
- 31:03Speaker 3: to shut down. Isn't that what the Democrats are doing now?
- 31:07Speaker 3: And I just started laughing at them, and I said, look,
- 31:09Speaker 3: number one, in twenty thirteen, when I did a twenty
- 31:13Speaker 3: one hour filibuster on the floor, I was fighting for Americans.
- 31:18Speaker 3: I was fighting for American citizens whose healthcare premiums had skyrocketed.
- 31:23Speaker 3: And they had skyrocketed because Obamacare was a train wreck.
- 31:26Speaker 3: It was a disaster. It caused a massive increase in
- 31:30Speaker 3: health insurance premiums. It made the health insurance companies rich,
- 31:34Speaker 3: and it made millions of ordinary Americans unable to afford
- 31:38Speaker 3: health insurance. And by the way, I was also fighting
- 31:42Speaker 3: for it at a time when the House of Representatives
- 31:45Speaker 3: that was Republican had voted to fund the federal government,
- 31:49Speaker 3: fund the entirety of the federal government, but not fund Obamacare,
- 31:54Speaker 3: so not fund the law that was causing damage to
- 31:57Speaker 3: American citizens. And I said, here, what's happening is Chuck
- 32:01Speaker 3: Schumer is shutting down the federal government not to help
- 32:04Speaker 3: American citizens who are getting hurt. But he's shutting down
- 32:07Speaker 3: the federal government in order to help millions of illegal
- 32:11Speaker 3: aliens and give them free healthcare. And he's willing to
- 32:14Speaker 3: shut down your federal government to give free health care
- 32:18Speaker 3: to illegals, and that fundamentally there's a hypocrisy to it.
- 32:23Speaker 3: And I also said, you know, the reporters were like,
- 32:26Speaker 3: isn't it the same, And I said, listen, let me
- 32:28Speaker 3: be clear. In twenty thirteen, it was Chuck Schumer who
- 32:34Speaker 3: shut the government down. Then I was trying to fund
- 32:37Speaker 3: the entirety of the federal government except for Obamacare, and
- 32:40Speaker 3: Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid decided, no, we'll shut it
- 32:43Speaker 3: all down because we care so much about socialized medicine.
- 32:46Speaker 3: And I told the reporters we had like fifty reporters
- 32:49Speaker 3: standing outside the Senate Florida. I said, look, none of
- 32:52Speaker 3: you guys reported that. You all blamed the shutdown on me,
- 32:55Speaker 3: because you're all left wing hacks. Today, all of you
- 33:00Speaker 3: are still left wing hacks. You agree with the Democrats.
- 33:03Speaker 3: But the facts are so overwhelming. It is Chuck Schumer
- 33:07Speaker 3: and the Democrats who are shutting the government down that
- 33:10Speaker 3: even you dishonest liars are reporting this is the Schumer
- 33:13Speaker 3: shutdown because the House has funded the government exactly the
- 33:19Speaker 3: status quo. The funding yesterday has continued to tomorrow. It
- 33:24Speaker 3: is the Democrats who said let's shut it down, and
- 33:27Speaker 3: I think at the end of the day they're going
- 33:29Speaker 3: to lose that battle. But this is what you got
- 33:33Speaker 3: to ask yourself is how long do the Democrats have
- 33:35Speaker 3: to perform for their crazy left wing activists before they
- 33:40Speaker 3: allow the government to reopen.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Don't forget share this podcast please with your family and
- 33:45Speaker 1: your friends wherever they are, and I will see you
- 33:48Speaker 1: back here tomorrow.
