Latest / Direct From Hollywood with Ryan Seacrest / Why Duncan Laurence Almost Said NO To Working With Fletcher, Even Though It Was His Dream
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Direct from Hollywood with Ryan Seacrest. It's fairly common these
- 0:04Speaker 1: days when a great song that's already been released by
- 0:06Speaker 1: a lesser known artist needs to boost, a more established
- 0:08Speaker 1: star will add a verse to expose it to more
- 0:10Speaker 1: people and hopefully transform it into a hit. And that's
- 0:12Speaker 1: exactly what happened with Duncan Lawrence's song Arcade when Fletcher
- 0:15Speaker 1: got on board. But Duncan admits he wasn't on board
- 0:18Speaker 1: at first, even though he was already a big fan
- 0:20Speaker 1: of Fletcher and had even told his label he would
- 0:22Speaker 1: love to collaborate with him. One day, he tells songwriter Universe.
- 0:25Speaker 1: She texted me out of the blue and said, I
- 0:26Speaker 1: would love to work together. Would it be a good
- 0:29Speaker 1: idea if I wrote my own verse for Arcade? We
- 0:31Speaker 1: couldn't make it a duet, but I wasn't sure. I
- 0:33Speaker 1: told her, well, I've been singing that song for a
- 0:35Speaker 1: year and a half now, so you've got to convince
- 0:37Speaker 1: me because it's my song. So she sent over the
- 0:40Speaker 1: files with her verse in it, and I was blown away.
- 0:42Speaker 1: I was like, I want to do this. It melted
- 0:44Speaker 1: together so well. I'm so proud of it. The words
- 0:47Speaker 1: of Duncan Lawrence and Arcade with Fletcher is out now.
- 0:50Speaker 1: That's direct from Hollywood.
