- 2:22Speaker 1: Please welcome to Money Making Conversations, my dear friend, Lisa Nichols. Hello, Hello, Hello,
- 2:29Speaker 1: I'm so excited to be with you, to be shot,
- 2:31Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you. Success as uh as has been
- 2:34Speaker 1: a journey. You know, you've become a household name uh
- 2:38Speaker 1: to get everything you started here. With that being said,
- 2:40Speaker 1: what is your gift, Lisa? What would you say your
- 2:43Speaker 1: gift is? M It's a great question to start with.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I think my my gift is the ability to see
- 2:50Speaker 1: and feel uh and be with people exactly where they
- 2:54Speaker 1: are uh and and and then to be a possible
- 2:59Speaker 1: pathway to the man or the woman that they're looking
- 3:02Speaker 1: to become. So I can't be all of that to them,
- 3:05Speaker 1: but I can be right where they are with them,
- 3:07Speaker 1: hold that space, and then open up a doorway, a
- 3:10Speaker 1: conversation and action plan, a mindset on the journey to
- 3:15Speaker 1: the person that they say they want to become. I
- 3:19Speaker 1: love the way you kind of like say you kind
- 3:21Speaker 1: of hung on that word, Say you know, I'm listening
- 3:24Speaker 1: to you know you're motivator. Now, you know you don't
- 3:26Speaker 1: hang on the word that long unless it means that
- 3:29Speaker 1: people have these dreams, they have these expectations of themselves.
- 3:33Speaker 1: But is it the effort? There? Is that the plan there?
- 3:36Speaker 1: And that's what you're talking about when you're hanging on
- 3:37Speaker 1: the words say correct, right? Right? Well, first of all, yeah,
- 3:41Speaker 1: I call it a verbal highlights, the verbal highlights, and
- 3:46Speaker 1: and it's it's I understand what your intentions are. I
- 3:50Speaker 1: hear what you're saying, but it is the tongue is
- 3:52Speaker 1: the tongue in your mouth and the tongue in your
- 3:55Speaker 1: shoes going in the same direction. That's there's a beautiful
- 4:00Speaker 1: us in to have because you know, we always hear
- 4:01Speaker 1: the words if that's popular words in the UH, in
- 4:03Speaker 1: the motivational world, and that's everyday life. Now, you know,
- 4:06Speaker 1: what's your brand, what's your passion, what's your gift? Jump
- 4:10Speaker 1: for the opportunity, you know, follow your you know, follow
- 4:13Speaker 1: your lead, UH, go out on faith. These these terms
- 4:16Speaker 1: can be they can be they're they're useful, but they
- 4:19Speaker 1: can also be dangerous because just to go out on
- 4:21Speaker 1: faith without a plan, always tell people is a mistake
- 4:24Speaker 1: and also not even understanding what your brand is. And
- 4:28Speaker 1: sometimes you should like as you're growing your brand, you
- 4:31Speaker 1: should stay where you are to your your brand can
- 4:34Speaker 1: somewhat afford you an opportunity to pay some bills. So
- 4:36Speaker 1: when you're doing this whole process of traveling and meeting everybody,
- 4:40Speaker 1: like I said in your in your intro, you know,
- 4:42Speaker 1: from a struggling single mom on public assistance to a
- 4:46Speaker 1: millionaire entrepreneur, how do you balance those conversations? Lisa Nichols,
- 4:53Speaker 1: You know, I adopted a long time ago this theory
- 4:58Speaker 1: that I learned. I had never heard of it until
- 5:01Speaker 1: I was like, probably into my late thirties early forties,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and it was called it's called cognitive dissonance and cognitive dissonance.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I invite anyone who's listened to my voice look it up,
- 5:13Speaker 1: study it, and become an an avid applier of cognitive
- 5:18Speaker 1: dissonance and cognitive dissonances when you see yourself further in
- 5:24Speaker 1: front of you than you actually are, and you you
- 5:28Speaker 1: know that in order to get there you have to
- 5:31Speaker 1: do something different. So it's a disruption of the brain.
- 5:33Speaker 1: The brain is seeing you in a space that you
- 5:36Speaker 1: physically are not, financially or not, and you know that
- 5:41Speaker 1: if that's who you are to become, you need to
- 5:44Speaker 1: do some things that you're not doing stop doing something
- 5:47Speaker 1: that you are doing, begin to adopt some ways of
- 5:49Speaker 1: thinking that you haven't adopted yet. That literally, there is
- 5:52Speaker 1: a mental discomfort because the way you're living, being, operating,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and what your experience is incongruent to who you know
- 6:01Speaker 1: yourself to be. So I, early on Rashan adopted that
- 6:08Speaker 1: behavior and mindset. Right now, you're The interesting thing about
- 6:13Speaker 1: that is that so because you used the word early on.
- 6:15Speaker 1: So let's go back to your background a little bit,
- 6:17Speaker 1: because there are a lot of people want to be you,
- 6:19Speaker 1: our version of you, or feel that they can do this.
- 6:22Speaker 1: They can motivate people because people call my show. They
- 6:25Speaker 1: stopped in the streets, they know who I am. To go, Hey,
- 6:27Speaker 1: I want to get into motivational speaking business. I have
- 6:30Speaker 1: some things I want to say. So how did you
- 6:33Speaker 1: tell us about your background and how did you get started? Lisa? Well,
- 6:37Speaker 1: you know it's funny because I didn't. I didn't step
- 6:41Speaker 1: into motivation, inspiration or transformation. Those are all you know
- 6:46Speaker 1: in the same zip code right now. I didn't step
- 6:51Speaker 1: into this community saying I wanted to be this person.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I stepped into into this community working to save my
- 7:00Speaker 1: own life. So I am a wounded healer. I am
- 7:06Speaker 1: a victim who just kept going to victor, and I
- 7:10Speaker 1: sat down the victim conversation and picked up the I
- 7:13Speaker 1: want to be a champion for this kind of experience
- 7:16Speaker 1: for others because I came through it. So um, I
- 7:19Speaker 1: discovered motivation because I was so depressed and I was
- 7:23Speaker 1: so sad, and I was broken broken, and then I
- 7:26Speaker 1: became tired of being broken broken. It didn't happen overnight
- 7:31Speaker 1: that I knew how to stop being broken broken. I
- 7:36Speaker 1: just started a quest to one discover Who could I
- 7:41Speaker 1: be if I stopped being this this frustrated, angry, hurt,
- 7:46Speaker 1: scared person. Who could I become? Who could I become?
- 7:50Speaker 1: If I stopped demming my light and only showing you
- 7:53Speaker 1: half of my lights so that I don't impose on
- 7:56Speaker 1: on your effort to find your own life? Who can
- 7:59Speaker 1: I become? Um? If I gave myself a thousand second
- 8:03Speaker 1: chances because I keep falling down. But if I stopped
- 8:07Speaker 1: counting the fall downs, and I stopped counting and I
- 8:09Speaker 1: start counting the get ups, who could I be? So
- 8:11Speaker 1: I just kept I put on my door the explorer
- 8:14Speaker 1: hat Rashan, and I turned the light on the on
- 8:16Speaker 1: the front of it, and I just began to explore
- 8:19Speaker 1: who Lisa can become as a single mother, as someone
- 8:23Speaker 1: born in in South central and live between the Harlem
- 8:26Speaker 1: cript thirties and the role in sixties. Who had three
- 8:29Speaker 1: fights a week to get home from school, who's function
- 8:31Speaker 1: who is functionally dyslexic? Who could she become? So really,
- 8:38Speaker 1: I started this journey just in discovery of who can
- 8:42Speaker 1: I become. I'm I'm gonna be honest with you. I
- 8:44Speaker 1: didn't started saying I'm a favorite world, I'm inspired the world,
- 8:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna be a millionaire. No, I said, I'm gonna
- 8:51Speaker 1: get off government's assistance. I'm gonna stop you. I'm gonna
- 8:54Speaker 1: stop meeting wick when women infinite children. I'm gonna stop
- 8:58Speaker 1: thinking I'm not beautiful in my moca skin, in my
- 9:00Speaker 1: full lips, with my round hips and my kinky here.
- 9:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna stop so my. The first part of my journey,
- 9:06Speaker 1: I was running away from all my chaos, and then
- 9:10Speaker 1: I bumped into possibility and I liked the way it felt.
- 9:14Speaker 1: And then I start pursuing something new. I'm gonna be
- 9:16Speaker 1: perfectly I'm well, that's how it started. Everybody in the
- 9:20Speaker 1: booth got the hand up. They got the hand up, Lisa,
- 9:23Speaker 1: they got the hand up. Now you know everybody in
- 9:26Speaker 1: the booth, white people, black people, everybody got the hand up.
- 9:31Speaker 1: That's a relatable speech here, that's a relatable speech. You know.
- 9:34Speaker 1: I'm saying, it's not a black thing. It's not a white,
- 9:37Speaker 1: a Christian thing, it's not a Buddha thing. It's not
- 9:39Speaker 1: a woman thing. It's not it's a human spirit, my
- 9:42Speaker 1: human spirit. When I discovered that my human spirit is unbreakable,
- 9:47Speaker 1: it's unshakable, and it's unavailable to my bank account balance,
- 9:51Speaker 1: that has broke down relationship that I may have been
- 9:53Speaker 1: in how much I was winning at the time. My
- 9:56Speaker 1: human spirit has always and will always simp We asked
- 10:00Speaker 1: for the command. What are we going to conquer next?
- 10:04Speaker 1: Give me a command? When I figured that our shine.
- 10:07Speaker 1: When I figured that out, man, I just I was like,
- 10:10Speaker 1: it was like the new It was a new drug
- 10:12Speaker 1: for me. It literally was a new drug for me.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I was like, Oh, I'm gonna take this in every day.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I'm anna inhale, I'm gonna drink it. I'm a I'm aware,
- 10:18Speaker 1: and I'm gonna rub it on. I'm a bathe in
- 10:20Speaker 1: at possibility, and when I realized that if I can
- 10:23Speaker 1: think about it, but not just think about it, if
- 10:26Speaker 1: I could see it clearly, clear colors, if I could
- 10:29Speaker 1: smell it, I didn't want to just see my dreams.
- 10:31Speaker 1: I wanted to smell them. I wanted to taste them.
- 10:33Speaker 1: So I would go to people's house that live like
- 10:36Speaker 1: I wanted to live. I find a way to get in.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I find a way to get in resin and I
- 10:41Speaker 1: rubbed on their furniture. I would club on their center islands.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I would drew up on their cars. And I'm not materialistic,
- 10:49Speaker 1: but I believe that the God that I served says,
- 10:51Speaker 1: if there's zero distance between you and it, and it
- 10:53Speaker 1: is available to you. So I just put zero distance
- 10:55Speaker 1: between me and all the things I dreamt about, the lifestyle,
- 10:59Speaker 1: the people to love, and then I felt it. I
- 11:01Speaker 1: could taste it, I could see it, I could smell it.
- 11:04Speaker 1: I took a picture next to it, and then I
- 11:06Speaker 1: brought it back into my hemisphere in my mindset, and
- 11:09Speaker 1: then I adopted cognitive dissonance. Please look that up, y'all,
- 11:13Speaker 1: I said, who do I have to become? What do
- 11:16Speaker 1: I have to do to shorten the distance between me
- 11:20Speaker 1: and it. I'm just telling you, I'm coming to be quiet.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Now let you talk. I got excited, Lisa, Lisa, you know,
- 11:26Speaker 1: let me tell yourself. That's what I love you. I'm
- 11:28Speaker 1: telling you right, you know I got to I got
- 11:30Speaker 1: this chance to see you live several years ago at ESSs,
- 11:33Speaker 1: just sitting in the back of the room, just sitting
- 11:35Speaker 1: are having the same motivational tone, having people stand up
- 11:38Speaker 1: point at you. Yeah girl, do it dood You know.
- 11:44Speaker 1: You know when people get motivated, they don't say much word,
- 11:46Speaker 1: They don't say many since they just go tall, point
- 11:49Speaker 1: at you and just look around, get your little shake
- 11:53Speaker 1: your hand left and right. Come on now, come on now.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Because that's the blessing of being able to find your guilt,
- 12:00Speaker 1: find your passion, or or build upon it. Because when
- 12:03Speaker 1: I hear you talk. You know, like I tell people
- 12:05Speaker 1: in high school, I should drive around in different neighborhoods.
- 12:08Speaker 1: I used to cut out cars or that I didn't
- 12:11Speaker 1: I just liked them. I just knew this type of
- 12:13Speaker 1: car I wanted if I had money, to be in it,
- 12:17Speaker 1: to experience it, to deliver it, to be it. And
- 12:19Speaker 1: I always tell peoplehen I walk around in people houses
- 12:22Speaker 1: where they have more money than me, you know, I
- 12:24Speaker 1: I just visualize how they would look. And so so
- 12:26Speaker 1: when I when I buy something that I want is
- 12:29Speaker 1: at that level, then I'm already there mentally. And so
- 12:31Speaker 1: I always tell people, don't deny what you can get
- 12:34Speaker 1: just because you think you don't have it currently. And
- 12:36Speaker 1: that's what that means. You're shutting down your future. You're
- 12:38Speaker 1: shutting down your options to be successful. And that's the
- 12:41Speaker 1: wrong way to think. And so when I look at
- 12:43Speaker 1: people talking about visionary boards, vision boards and all that,
- 12:46Speaker 1: you know, that's nothing new. We just we just you know,
- 12:50Speaker 1: it's just that's just a fancy word. They put on
- 12:52Speaker 1: a dream, that's just a fancy word. They put on
- 12:55Speaker 1: the world a goal. You know. Vision boards have been
- 12:58Speaker 1: in the you know Ford he had a vision you
- 13:01Speaker 1: know Edison he had a vision board, you know. And
- 13:03Speaker 1: so now we put all these words and we give
- 13:05Speaker 1: too much power to these little fancy words like brands
- 13:09Speaker 1: and gifts and and uh and envision boards and really
- 13:12Speaker 1: just go back to who you are, what you want
- 13:15Speaker 1: to be, what your dreams are capable of achieving, and
- 13:18Speaker 1: not what you're living at currently, and get rid of
- 13:20Speaker 1: those nay says, because you know when you were starting
- 13:23Speaker 1: to turn that corner, Lisa, then they say it was
- 13:26Speaker 1: coming out girl. What you're trying to do? You hear
- 13:29Speaker 1: about that? You better stay where you at? How do
- 13:31Speaker 1: you fight off those nay says Lisa, Well, first of all,
- 13:35Speaker 1: you know, going back to your visualizing and understanding about
- 13:41Speaker 1: having things, I realized that there's a complete distinction between wealth.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Wealth is a unilateral conversation around money and possessions. That's wealth.
- 13:51Speaker 1: And while that's an indicator of some level of success,
- 13:54Speaker 1: wealth is not the ultimate indicator of success. Abundance is
- 13:59Speaker 1: um abundant. End is not just the unilateral UH category
- 14:03Speaker 1: called wealth, money UH and possessions. Abundance is abundance in
- 14:08Speaker 1: your relationships, abundant, in having health wealth abundant, and having
- 14:13Speaker 1: spiritual wealth abundance, and having financial wealth. It's one category
- 14:18Speaker 1: of a very large picture. So I want to just
- 14:20Speaker 1: be very clear that that what I pursue and what
- 14:23Speaker 1: I have pursued for the last twenty five years, and
- 14:25Speaker 1: what I teach my students who step onto my multiple
- 14:28Speaker 1: multiple forms in my campus is let's pursue abundance, because
- 14:32Speaker 1: abundance is gonna feel a whole lot better than wealth.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I coach a lot of very very wealthy people how
- 14:38Speaker 1: to have abundance. And so I just want to make
- 14:41Speaker 1: that very clear that that's the thing that I value
- 14:44Speaker 1: most in my life is that this past weekend, while
- 14:48Speaker 1: I spoke for an event that had forty six different
- 14:52Speaker 1: countries present, the most exciting part about my weekend was
- 14:56Speaker 1: on Friday night, for the first time and forty plus years,
- 15:01Speaker 1: my father finally let me shave his beard. He finally
- 15:03Speaker 1: trust me enough to shave his beer. And and that
- 15:07Speaker 1: was the highlight of my weekend. While I was talking
- 15:10Speaker 1: to thousands and thousands of people in generating thousands and
- 15:13Speaker 1: thousands of dollars, that was the highlights. So I'm very clear, UM, naysayers,
- 15:19Speaker 1: So let me just first set a tone that, UM,
- 15:22Speaker 1: you can never have someone who has a UM, you
- 15:27Speaker 1: can never put your sixty four ounce dreams and someone
- 15:31Speaker 1: who has a twenty four ounce capacity. So so so
- 15:35Speaker 1: let's let's let's just start with the truth, because the
- 15:37Speaker 1: truth will set of soft free. So I heard somewhere,
- 15:39Speaker 1: so you will have if you have a sixty four
- 15:42Speaker 1: ounce dream, then only give twenty four ounces of that
- 15:46Speaker 1: dream to someone who is a twenty four ounce thinker.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Go find go find a hundred and twenty ounce thinker
- 15:54Speaker 1: and give them your sixty four I was drinking and
- 15:57Speaker 1: watch them expanded. So, first of all, don't don't do
- 16:00Speaker 1: a disservice to the twenty four hours thinker or to
- 16:04Speaker 1: you by giving your dream that's out of their capacity
- 16:08Speaker 1: to someone. And I'm not saying anything negative about the
- 16:10Speaker 1: twenty four hours thinker. They're not thinking small. They're twenty
- 16:13Speaker 1: four hours is a hundred, there's twenty four hours, and
- 16:17Speaker 1: they're totally fine until you go and try to cram
- 16:19Speaker 1: your sixty four hours instead the twenty four our capacities.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Love them and be with them right where they are.
- 16:26Speaker 1: So I'm gonna say that and then say, the people
- 16:28Speaker 1: in your life did not sign up to be your
- 16:31Speaker 1: business partner. They don't sign up to be your fans.
- 16:34Speaker 1: They don't sign up to be the first readers of
- 16:35Speaker 1: your book. They don't sign up to make your book
- 16:37Speaker 1: a best seller. They decided to be your student. Allow
- 16:40Speaker 1: them to be who they are. That's that's number two.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Number three is your job is to be born into
- 16:49Speaker 1: a community biological, geographical, spiritual culture. That's the community you
- 16:54Speaker 1: were born into allow that community to coexist with you.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Your second job is to go find your second community
- 17:01Speaker 1: that's gonna make you stand on your tippy toes. That's
- 17:04Speaker 1: what I did, And when I found that second community,
- 17:07Speaker 1: lowers the hold. It was a conference. I was the
- 17:10Speaker 1: only one of three women. I was the only person
- 17:13Speaker 1: of any color, So that's that's a cross Latin Asian Indians,
- 17:18Speaker 1: no color but me. And then I was the youngest
- 17:21Speaker 1: person by eighteen years. So I felt like an alien
- 17:24Speaker 1: on an entirely different planet. And they were speaking an
- 17:28Speaker 1: entirely different language. No oblo espagno. I didn't know what
- 17:32Speaker 1: they were talking about. Still talking about PPM term agreements,
- 17:35Speaker 1: r o I, revenue streams, um of revenue paths and
- 17:40Speaker 1: and p n l s And I'm like, what are
- 17:41Speaker 1: they talking about? But I didn't run. I didn't run
- 17:45Speaker 1: because I was different. I didn't run because I stood out.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I didn't run because I was lonely. I would go
- 17:51Speaker 1: to the conference. I would spend three thousand, seven hundred
- 17:54Speaker 1: and eighty two dollars that I didn't have. I would
- 17:57Speaker 1: go there for eight days, and I would feel lone
- 18:00Speaker 1: and out of place. But I knew that group was
- 18:04Speaker 1: causing me to stand roshan on my tippy toes. They
- 18:09Speaker 1: caused me to stay up at night and research what
- 18:12Speaker 1: does PPM mean term agreement r O I, what does
- 18:15Speaker 1: it mean to have seven revenue streams? What does it
- 18:18Speaker 1: mean to have a p n L? I had no
- 18:20Speaker 1: idea what this stuff was. So this group, by being
- 18:23Speaker 1: in their physical proximity, they kept me in cognitive dissonance.
- 18:29Speaker 1: They kept me uncomfortable in who I could become if
- 18:32Speaker 1: I stood around long enough. People often think when they
- 18:35Speaker 1: become uncomfortable, they back away, and I say, don't back away,
- 18:40Speaker 1: don't back away from the discomfort. It's simply It simply
- 18:44Speaker 1: means that you're conviction and you're convenience. As you heard
- 18:46Speaker 1: me say, don't live on the same block. You're not
- 18:48Speaker 1: gonna be convenience on your way to the greatest version
- 18:52Speaker 1: of you. I'll say that again. You're not gonna be
- 18:54Speaker 1: convenience on on the journey to the greatest version of
- 19:01Speaker 1: your greatness lives on the outside of your comfort zone.
- 19:05Speaker 1: What you've already done, you've already done. So if you're comfortable,
- 19:08Speaker 1: it's because you ain't growing. If you complain it, if
- 19:11Speaker 1: you feel good everything, Oh, everything is good. All things
- 19:14Speaker 1: are good. That means you're not at the edge of
- 19:17Speaker 1: your boss. I'm not saying feel bad, but i am
- 19:20Speaker 1: saying feel stretched. My dear talking to the amazing and
- 19:23Speaker 1: put the word amazing in front of her. Amazing. Lisa Nichols, bookselling,

- 22:03Speaker 1: my stand up. You are unique in every way. You
- 22:07Speaker 1: gotta look at what's unique and you and then capitalize on.
- 22:11Speaker 1: The Money Making Conversations continues online at www dot money
- 22:15Speaker 1: Making Conversations dot com. I just Rashan McDonald. You're listening
- 22:18Speaker 1: to Money Making Conversation, the show I created to provide
- 22:21Speaker 1: information to individuals like you who are listening. There are
- 22:24Speaker 1: people out there who are successful. There are people who
- 22:26Speaker 1: have traveled some paths that you want to travel. They
- 22:29Speaker 1: have dreams that you want to achieve. They have goals
- 22:32Speaker 1: that you want to set. That's what money making conversations
- 22:35Speaker 1: is all about. More importantly, they motivate you, not only
- 22:38Speaker 1: which with your spirit, but information information that it's tied
- 22:42Speaker 1: to work. You gotta have work ethic, you have to
- 22:44Speaker 1: have a You can't limit yourself based on I don't
- 22:47Speaker 1: have enough time. I'm not an early morning person. You
- 22:49Speaker 1: can't have excuses in your path to success. That's what
- 22:53Speaker 1: That's what money The main conversation is all about. One
- 22:55Speaker 1: of the leaders in that one of the true Queens,
- 22:58Speaker 1: Captain's Admira was President's UH Diamond Club member. Amazing is
- 23:04Speaker 1: the incredible Lisa Nichols. Lisa, welcome back to the show.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Thank you so much for having me. I want to
- 23:11Speaker 1: talk about this right quickly. Let's talk about the impact
- 23:13Speaker 1: you have had on the teens through your nonprofit foundation,
- 23:17Speaker 1: Motivating the Teen Spirit. You have touched the lives over
- 23:20Speaker 1: over two hundred and seventy thousand teens, prevented over thirty
- 23:23Speaker 1: eight hundred teen suicide, supported hundred dropouts and returning them
- 23:28Speaker 1: to school, and it's helped thousands to reunite with their families. Okay,
- 23:33Speaker 1: that's a yeah, ok yeah yeah, but that you know
- 23:38Speaker 1: when you said I filled my heart expans at nineteen, um,
- 23:43Speaker 1: I had already been you know, um superachiever in some
- 23:48Speaker 1: areas in school, as a track, as an as an athlete,
- 23:52Speaker 1: um uh, as a as a social leader in school,
- 23:56Speaker 1: though I struggle academically and a lot of areas I
- 23:59Speaker 1: see to be very happy. And at nineteen I found
- 24:03Speaker 1: myself um in a very dark place, and I even
- 24:07Speaker 1: contemplated suicide. And I remember standing in the bathroom with
- 24:12Speaker 1: a handful of Thailand All and I wasn't sure if
- 24:16Speaker 1: they would do the trick at eate thailand All to
- 24:18Speaker 1: be exact and extra strength thailand on. I wasn't sure
- 24:21Speaker 1: if this will be enough. But I realized I didn't
- 24:24Speaker 1: really want to die. I just wanted the pain that
- 24:26Speaker 1: I felt in my soul to stop. And I remember
- 24:30Speaker 1: falling to my knees and crying out to God in
- 24:33Speaker 1: my little one bit room house that my dad and
- 24:36Speaker 1: I lived in, when I said, God, if you helped
- 24:38Speaker 1: to relieve me of this pain right now, I'll spend
- 24:41Speaker 1: the rest of my life helping teams be emotionally healthy,
- 24:45Speaker 1: to find joy, to be able to discover how to
- 24:47Speaker 1: have healthy conversations. I'll be a part of the solution. God,
- 24:52Speaker 1: I remember that day like it were yesterday. Rashan and
- 24:56Speaker 1: I went on for uh. I got up, got through that.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I got through that dark moment, and ten years later,
- 25:02Speaker 1: I'm busy, you know, started getting my life together. I'm
- 25:05Speaker 1: a new mom. Jelani is just one years old. And
- 25:09Speaker 1: I feeled it's not And it was God's saying, it's
- 25:14Speaker 1: time for you to pay on that promise you made right.
- 25:19Speaker 1: And he didn't have to knock hard. He didn't have
- 25:22Speaker 1: to knock loud. He didn't have to knock loud. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 25:24Speaker 1: yeah yeah. And you know I shrugged it off the
- 25:26Speaker 1: first a couple of times. God, wait, hold on, I'm
- 25:28Speaker 1: just finding my rhythm. I stop this job. I'm making
- 25:32Speaker 1: six figures. I was thinking a hundred and ten thousand
- 25:34Speaker 1: dollars at the time. I was excited. I'm like, God,
- 25:36Speaker 1: I'm getting off, you know, government's assistance. Finally, I'll pay
- 25:40Speaker 1: you back later, I promise you. I promise it. Hearing
- 25:45Speaker 1: that knock and uh and so I created motivating the
- 25:51Speaker 1: team spirit um and Motivating the Team Spirit as an
- 25:54Speaker 1: emotional literacy program. It's I want to be very clear,
- 25:57Speaker 1: it's not for it's not a youth intervention program. So
- 26:00Speaker 1: it's not a place for teens who have behavioral challenges
- 26:04Speaker 1: or for kids who have just been in trouble to
- 26:06Speaker 1: come while it is their haven, so that they can
- 26:09Speaker 1: find their own emotional intelligence. We for every team we
- 26:12Speaker 1: have that in academic or social trouble, we're sitting next
- 26:16Speaker 1: to them as a as a child who has a
- 26:18Speaker 1: four point for g P A and so Motivating the
- 26:21Speaker 1: Team Spirit is designed to be the one of the
- 26:24Speaker 1: few spaces where teens and young adults because now we
- 26:28Speaker 1: go up to age, they can discover how to distinguish
- 26:34Speaker 1: between their negative self talk and their powerful self talk UM,
- 26:38Speaker 1: how to access their self esteem when it's been challenged
- 26:41Speaker 1: by something that's occurred, how to get back in integrity
- 26:45Speaker 1: when they've broken an integrity contract something that's never spoken
- 26:49Speaker 1: of and never mentioned, but when you break it, it
- 26:52Speaker 1: risks a relationship. So teaching them the life skills around
- 26:56Speaker 1: emotional intelligence UM and UM, I'm super. We do our
- 27:01Speaker 1: events three times a year in San Diego, and we
- 27:03Speaker 1: also travel and bring those same um trainings and workshops,
- 27:07Speaker 1: emotional literacy workshops to your community near you. Um, what
- 27:11Speaker 1: I'm excited about is that the lead trainer and the
- 27:14Speaker 1: director of moving the team spirit now is my twenty
- 27:17Speaker 1: five year old son and Jilani. And so he now
- 27:21Speaker 1: teaches the curriculum I teach beside him sometimes. Um, but
- 27:25Speaker 1: he grew up in it, you know. It was a
- 27:26Speaker 1: thing that shapes his character. So he hasn't steeped in
- 27:29Speaker 1: him more than it was even steeped in me. Um
- 27:32Speaker 1: and so um, it's some of the work that I
- 27:34Speaker 1: am the most, I'm the proudest of. So you've heard
- 27:37Speaker 1: that David preachers kids. So he's a motivation kid. He's
- 27:40Speaker 1: an MK. Yeah, you know what, let me go a
- 27:44Speaker 1: step further. He's a t K. He's a transformational kid.
- 27:49Speaker 1: He Mama wasn't. Mama just wasn't into the raw rob
- 27:52Speaker 1: mama substance. I said, son, your character is defined by
- 27:57Speaker 1: what you do in the dark of the night when
- 27:58Speaker 1: no one's looking. I don't care what you do when
- 28:00Speaker 1: the lights are on you. I want to know the
- 28:01Speaker 1: decisions you make when no one's looking. So he's a teacher,
- 28:04Speaker 1: he's a transformational there you go, there you go, and
- 28:07Speaker 1: you know, you know, we're just reading some of the
- 28:09Speaker 1: questions that they sent over, and that was talking about
- 28:11Speaker 1: retreats that you do and uh, and I wanted to
- 28:13Speaker 1: talk about you have. It was kind of broken down
- 28:15Speaker 1: in a way and said, you have black women only
- 28:18Speaker 1: and you have a different one for men and women.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Explain that rationale and also tell us what exactly is
- 28:25Speaker 1: your or your retreats. So the so the second retreat
- 28:29Speaker 1: that you mentioned is really my first retreat, and that's
- 28:31Speaker 1: what we call our breakthrough retreat. And we're on our
- 28:33Speaker 1: way to our breakthrough retreating a couple of weeks here
- 28:36Speaker 1: and then we have another one coming up. But our
- 28:38Speaker 1: Breakthrough Retreat is designed for everyone, men, woman, black, white,
- 28:41Speaker 1: Asian lathy on everyone, and it's a place where super
- 28:44Speaker 1: heroes and supersroes come to take your take off. So
- 28:49Speaker 1: the exclusivity I have with all my retreats is that
- 28:52Speaker 1: I want game changers to come only. I want movers
- 28:55Speaker 1: and shakers. I want people who are the answer to
- 28:58Speaker 1: other people's challenges. Mean, if you're the one who gets
- 29:01Speaker 1: the calls to get things done, if you're the one
- 29:03Speaker 1: whose everyone else's answer, if you're the one that in
- 29:06Speaker 1: the middle of your crisis, you're still trying to help
- 29:08Speaker 1: other people. This retreat is for you. And so this
- 29:13Speaker 1: retreat is a retreat where you come and at the door,
- 29:17Speaker 1: at the door you metaphorically take your cape off and
- 29:20Speaker 1: set it down and we put it away for a week.
- 29:22Speaker 1: And then what I do is I helped to heal
- 29:25Speaker 1: the healers. I helped to restore those who restore others. So, um,
- 29:31Speaker 1: you come and I we we create a safe space
- 29:34Speaker 1: for you to um reignite, rejuvenate, recharge, recommit, redesign your
- 29:42Speaker 1: life as is or what's next. And so really, um
- 29:46Speaker 1: my last retreat had seven doctors there. March retreat before
- 29:50Speaker 1: that had a gentleman who have been the counsel to
- 29:54Speaker 1: eight presidents. Um uh, people who work at Nassau, people
- 29:59Speaker 1: who people who are entrepreneurs who are serving thousands and
- 30:03Speaker 1: thousands of people like yourself. So it's a place where
- 30:06Speaker 1: where leaders, movers and shakers, game changes, gladigators and unicorns
- 30:10Speaker 1: come to take our kpof. So that's the break to
- 30:12Speaker 1: retreat that's for everyone. And then I have the exact
- 30:16Speaker 1: same experience, but I have it exclusive for a Mover
- 30:19Speaker 1: and Shaker black women. And that was the thing that
- 30:22Speaker 1: I created just because I know her, I am her
- 30:26Speaker 1: um and it's no discount to any other gender, any
- 30:29Speaker 1: other nationality. I just knew that I needed a place
- 30:32Speaker 1: where I can restore my faith and sisterhood. And I
- 30:37Speaker 1: can and and and not everyone, not many people. Matter
- 30:41Speaker 1: of fact, only one kind of person can get in
- 30:44Speaker 1: a Black woman who's into leadership's faith. And that's another
- 30:48Speaker 1: Black woman that's in leadership that she trusts her man.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Her man can't get in her faith, you know, you know.
- 30:57Speaker 1: And so I really I didn't create that that retreat.
- 31:01Speaker 1: That retreat came after me and got me because I
- 31:03Speaker 1: spoke at all these conferences with with with black women
- 31:06Speaker 1: leadership from at Black Enterprise, a b et at all
- 31:10Speaker 1: of these conferences where that Mover and Shaker black women go,
- 31:14Speaker 1: and they kept following me saying, you need a place
- 31:16Speaker 1: to create a place where you can deep dive with
- 31:19Speaker 1: us because we trust you, Lisa, And so I didn't
- 31:22Speaker 1: design that as a new program. These sisters came and
- 31:25Speaker 1: got me and said, we choose you as the person
- 31:28Speaker 1: who can check us, love us, require us to heal,
- 31:32Speaker 1: help us heal and then allow us to hold each
- 31:35Speaker 1: other's hands while we heal. And I just answered, Okay, wow,
- 31:40Speaker 1: that's powerful. And there's a couple of things that you're
- 31:42Speaker 1: doing that I really want to get the message the
- 31:44Speaker 1: information out about it is called the Speaker's Mastermind Program,
- 31:48Speaker 1: which is an exclusive live training workshop to help speakers
- 31:51Speaker 1: take themselves to a new level. And you're launching the Elevate,
- 31:55Speaker 1: an online personal development program and this year June of
- 31:58Speaker 1: this year, so this with the Peak Speaker's Mastermind Program
- 32:02Speaker 1: and then the slide over to the Elevate. So so
- 32:05Speaker 1: many people are aspiring to be speakers as now. There's
- 32:09Speaker 1: two types of speakers. There's the non platform speaker, and
- 32:13Speaker 1: that's everybody. That's anyone who opens their mouths and they
- 32:16Speaker 1: want to convince, inspire, motivate, or educate someone. So that's
- 32:20Speaker 1: the school teacher, that's the judge, that's the person who
- 32:24Speaker 1: works in automotive. That's the salesman, that's the saleswoman, that's
- 32:27Speaker 1: that's multiple level marketing on any level. Anyone who ever
- 32:30Speaker 1: gets a network marketing, direct sales, and you are a
- 32:33Speaker 1: speaker because you want to convince, inspire, motivate someone to
- 32:37Speaker 1: take action. That's the school teacher. And so there's the
- 32:40Speaker 1: non platform speaker. They need to master their speaking. You
- 32:45Speaker 1: want to be a masterful speaker when you open your
- 32:47Speaker 1: mouth even though you're not on stage. And then there's
- 32:51Speaker 1: the platform speaker, and that would be you and me
- 32:54Speaker 1: and those who want to create a platform from their speaking.
- 32:58Speaker 1: So there's non platform speaking and platform speakers. Either way.
- 33:02Speaker 1: I want to train. I want to train you to
- 33:04Speaker 1: master your voice and master your message. And what I
- 33:07Speaker 1: broke down were the fourteen points that turns the body
- 33:11Speaker 1: of speaking into the art and science of speaking. I
- 33:14Speaker 1: looked at everything with Seawan that I had done over
- 33:16Speaker 1: the last twenty five years that kept making everything I
- 33:20Speaker 1: touched turned to goal. How did I go? How did
- 33:23Speaker 1: I get the chicken soup for the sole offer? How
- 33:25Speaker 1: did I get the secret offer? How did I be
- 33:27Speaker 1: a standout on Oprah? How did I get to Larry King?
- 33:31Speaker 1: I took all the years, and I looked back and
- 33:33Speaker 1: I said, let me bottle up. If I could bottle
- 33:37Speaker 1: up what I was doing unconsciously, it was my unconscious competence.
- 33:41Speaker 1: If I can make my unconscious competence a conscious competence
- 33:46Speaker 1: and then share that with someone what would it look
- 33:48Speaker 1: like and that speaker's mastermind. Well, you know, the beauty
- 33:51Speaker 1: of this conversation I'm having with you is that you
- 33:54Speaker 1: know they have singing coaches and classes and I know
- 33:58Speaker 1: when I was in l A, i want to act
- 34:00Speaker 1: and acting acting classes. You know, you want to train
- 34:03Speaker 1: as a stay in shape and you want to that's all.
- 34:07Speaker 1: That's all you're saying that this is a this is
- 34:09Speaker 1: a speech speaker. You want to be the best at it.
- 34:11Speaker 1: You know, platform, a non platform person that comes come.
- 34:15Speaker 1: We finally have that resource. You finally have you know, events,
- 34:18Speaker 1: the body of speakers, you know out there telling you
- 34:21Speaker 1: come in here. Because I always tell people, you know,
- 34:24Speaker 1: it's really interesting. Once that has been a former stand
- 34:27Speaker 1: up comic. Once you know how to tell a joke,
- 34:29Speaker 1: you can actually tell us aboudy how to tell a joke.
- 34:31Speaker 1: And because they're right will's and wrong ways, and you
- 34:33Speaker 1: can be funny or you're gonna be funny for a
- 34:35Speaker 1: short amount of time on stage, or you're gonna be
- 34:37Speaker 1: funny for a long period of time on the stage.
- 34:39Speaker 1: And when you're doing these mastermind and speakers, mastermind and
- 34:42Speaker 1: you're the correct tide of program elevating and in an
- 34:46Speaker 1: exclusive training workshop to help speakers take themselves to a
- 34:49Speaker 1: new level. It's important to understand that that you know,
- 34:52Speaker 1: you can top off, or you can level off, or
- 34:54Speaker 1: you can like stop growing. And it takes an expert.
- 34:58Speaker 1: It takes a person being able to see themselves or
- 35:01Speaker 1: see you at the next level. I was watching this
- 35:04Speaker 1: Bradley Cooper when he was talking about his acting coach. Uh,
- 35:07Speaker 1: she's a female, and how she wasn't able to get
- 35:12Speaker 1: him to turn the corner because he was Oh, he
- 35:14Speaker 1: never had faith in hiself. He's always break down, which
- 35:16Speaker 1: somehow she was able to let him see the light,
- 35:20Speaker 1: let him see his ability, to let him walk through
- 35:22Speaker 1: his fears. And he's an Oscar winner. You know the director,
- 35:25Speaker 1: you know, one of the major players. And that's all
- 35:27Speaker 1: you're saying at the Speaker's Mastermind program, correct, yep, absolutely,
- 35:32Speaker 1: And we have speakers Mastermind UH is four concentrated days
- 35:38Speaker 1: together with me where I lead you through all the
- 35:42Speaker 1: techniques on that I've broken down to the science of speaking.
- 35:46Speaker 1: But what I love about the training uh. And we
- 35:49Speaker 1: do have an online live version of that where I
- 35:51Speaker 1: teach you online live. If you're out of the country.
- 35:53Speaker 1: If you or if you want to do a different
- 35:55Speaker 1: version of it, um, I teach you and then you
- 35:57Speaker 1: apply it. I teach you and your apply. I'm a coach,
- 36:00Speaker 1: so I like you to just I want you to
- 36:02Speaker 1: discover your own muscles. I want you to build your
- 36:05Speaker 1: own apps. I want you to do your own curls.
- 36:07Speaker 1: So at the end of the program, you're lifting more
- 36:10Speaker 1: than you've ever lifted before. You you've surpassed where you
- 36:13Speaker 1: were when we started together. And so what I love
- 36:15Speaker 1: about the training is that it's interactive, experiential. It's not
- 36:19Speaker 1: just theory, it's not just concept. It's not just you know, academia.
- 36:23Speaker 1: It's no applied learning. Show me your video, let me
- 36:26Speaker 1: give you feedback on your video. Show me your life
- 36:28Speaker 1: stand up, let me give you feedback on it. So
- 36:30Speaker 1: it's one of the most engaging platforms that I have
- 36:33Speaker 1: watching your technique grow. And so I'm super excited that
- 36:36Speaker 1: I finally was able. This is after sixteen years of
- 36:40Speaker 1: people asking me to show them how to do what
- 36:43Speaker 1: I do. How do your videos go viral with forty
- 36:46Speaker 1: seven million views in seven days? And for a long time,
- 36:49Speaker 1: I was like, I'm not sure than I thought you
- 36:52Speaker 1: let me go back and let me do my let
- 36:54Speaker 1: me do the work. Yeah. So it took me five
- 36:59Speaker 1: years to come with this process that I can walk
- 37:02Speaker 1: people through that says you will not cannot fully participate
- 37:06Speaker 1: in this program and be the same level speaker, whether
- 37:09Speaker 1: it's non platform or platform speaker as you were before
- 37:13Speaker 1: you came in. There's no way possible. Um. And so
- 37:16Speaker 1: I'm super excited about it. It's gonna be my legacy.
- 37:19Speaker 1: It's going to be the thing I leave to the industry.
- 37:21Speaker 1: I leave through you know, speaking as the wild wild West.
- 37:24Speaker 1: There's the structure in it. It's too new, and so
- 37:26Speaker 1: I feel like I want to give the industry, give
- 37:29Speaker 1: the for all the people who feel like they're terrified
- 37:32Speaker 1: as speaking. I want to give them some formulas that
- 37:35Speaker 1: will reduce their fears, because they will replace their fears
- 37:38Speaker 1: with skill sets. And then I want to give the
- 37:40Speaker 1: people who love to speak. I want to give them
- 37:42Speaker 1: some formulas and tools so they can take it to
- 37:44Speaker 1: the next level. Not so that they can shine brighter,
- 37:47Speaker 1: but so that everyone can serve higher. I want to
- 37:49Speaker 1: close out talking about this. One event is coming up
- 37:52Speaker 1: in May May first to the third, just in Los Angeles.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Come on now, I gotta help you promote this girl, Okay,
- 37:58Speaker 1: so make sure you sent me feel we could. Also
- 38:01Speaker 1: you can come back on the show as well, but
- 38:02Speaker 1: I'm sure it's gonna be so love by the end.
- 38:04Speaker 1: It's called Extraordinary You Personal Development Live Event May first,
- 38:09Speaker 1: the third in Los Angeles is your show tell Us
- 38:12Speaker 1: about Lisa Wow. So it is the first ever personal Mastery,
- 38:17Speaker 1: life gain changing three day UM conference that I've ever
- 38:22Speaker 1: done like this. So this is the culmination of all
- 38:25Speaker 1: the YouTube videos that I put out there that people love,
- 38:28Speaker 1: all of the things that they've seen on stage when
- 38:29Speaker 1: he can say, oh my god, you have to get
- 38:31Speaker 1: up again, Oh my god, let me wait my hands,
- 38:32Speaker 1: Oh my god, you have to get out of this like,
- 38:34Speaker 1: oh my god, you got me standing my greatness. So,
- 38:36Speaker 1: for the first time ever, I'm gonna say, if I've
- 38:39Speaker 1: done anything like that for you, or you want that
- 38:41Speaker 1: in your life, come and we're gonna spend three days
- 38:45Speaker 1: simply elevating and igniting and put setting your life on fire.
- 38:50Speaker 1: We're gonna do some interactive things that are gonna literally
- 38:52Speaker 1: have you break through old belief systems, have you continue
- 38:56Speaker 1: going where you normally would stop, have you adopt a
- 38:58Speaker 1: new way of thinking. We're gonna come front and push
- 39:01Speaker 1: past cognitive dissonance in the room. But the most important
- 39:05Speaker 1: thing I think happens there is that I have the
- 39:07Speaker 1: ability to gather some of the best game changers and
- 39:10Speaker 1: movers and shakers, gladiators and unicorns on the planet. Will
- 39:14Speaker 1: have at least fourteen different countries in the room to
- 39:18Speaker 1: now be available to be added to your Rolo deck.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I encourage and design a time for you to commune
- 39:25Speaker 1: with people, exchange information, find out what you're doing, become international,
- 39:30Speaker 1: expand your own platform. So it's when I tell you
- 39:34Speaker 1: it's gonna be three days of sheer fire. This morning,
- 39:37Speaker 1: I just secured one of the baddest brothers I've ever
- 39:40Speaker 1: met inside Transformation for Men to Men and he just said, yes,
- 39:45Speaker 1: I'm there. So I'm super excited, super excited. If you
- 39:49Speaker 1: want to know about it, it's not even publicized yet,
- 39:52Speaker 1: it will sell out. We are always a fire has
- 39:55Speaker 1: that we always be shut down by the fire department.
- 39:57Speaker 1: I love it. They don't shut the event down. They
- 39:59Speaker 1: just tell us no more people can come and do
- 40:01Speaker 1: more people standing in front of the door, right they
- 40:04Speaker 1: stand up from the door. They're like, you know, more
- 40:06Speaker 1: people because I was packing out and so right now, UM,
- 40:10Speaker 1: going to my site Motivating the Masses dot com. Motivating
- 40:14Speaker 1: the Masses dot com. You'll see the advertisement there. Um,
- 40:19Speaker 1: we are limiting it. I'm not trying to have thousands
- 40:21Speaker 1: and thousands of people there Initially. I want my first
- 40:23Speaker 1: one to be super super um intimate with just a
- 40:27Speaker 1: few hundred people based, so it'll be super exciting in
- 40:30Speaker 1: Los Angeles. So plan to be with me when I
- 40:33Speaker 1: tell you you want to set the second half of
- 40:35Speaker 1: your year on fire, come to the Extraordinary You Conference
- 40:37Speaker 1: and we'll do it together. Lisa Nichols she is one
