- 2:05Speaker 1: you're listening to the boys, Come on dig me now.
- 2:10Speaker 1: One and only Steve Harvey got a radio show, yoh man.
- 2:15Speaker 1: God is in the blessing business all day every day.
- 2:18Speaker 1: God got hundreds of millions of blessings that he passes
- 2:22Speaker 1: out every day. All I want to do is be
- 2:27Speaker 1: the recipient that I'm the recipient of what he has
- 2:31Speaker 1: for me. That's all I want. I just want God's
- 2:36Speaker 1: favor and I go. I want God's blessings. You know,
- 2:41Speaker 1: of course I need his mercy and his grace, but
- 2:44Speaker 1: I just want his blessings and his favor. I want.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I want that in my life because it does things
- 2:53Speaker 1: for me that I'm absolutely incapable of doing for myself.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And I've been a recipient of many of those, and
- 3:00Speaker 1: you can be the recipient of them too. You already are, really, really,
- 3:05Speaker 1: you already are. If you're getting up every morning, that's
- 3:09Speaker 1: a blessing. If you're getting one day closer to anything
- 3:13Speaker 1: you're trying to accomplish, that's a blessing. But now let
- 3:17Speaker 1: me talk to you about this part right here, folks,
- 3:19Speaker 1: because this is the part that messages people up a
- 3:21Speaker 1: great deal. What happens when you get off track? What
- 3:26Speaker 1: is that? What does that mean? When you get off track? See,
- 3:33Speaker 1: I've been off track. I can't tell you how many times,
- 3:36Speaker 1: and it happens in so many aspects of your life.
- 3:39Speaker 1: But what is it that makes getting off track so
- 3:44Speaker 1: debilitating to some people? You know, there are some people
- 3:47Speaker 1: who want stay off track, They off course, they off
- 3:50Speaker 1: the dream, they own to something else. And you cannot
- 3:54Speaker 1: allow the fact that you've gotten off track to stop.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You can't tell you something. Everybody gets off tracked. Nobody
- 4:06Speaker 1: does a diet exactly, meal per meal, calorie by calorie exactly.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Everybody makes mistakes. But somehow, that are people who have
- 4:19Speaker 1: made a success of themselves that are people who are
- 4:23Speaker 1: living their life's dreams. That are people who lose weight
- 4:30Speaker 1: in spite of getting off track. See what happens when
- 4:34Speaker 1: you get off track. Here's the simple thing to do.
- 4:37Speaker 1: The simple thing is just to get back on track.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Now that that's but that's easier said than done, ain't it,
- 4:43Speaker 1: Steve Yeah, Because see people, when you get off track.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Here's some of the things that happen. See you get
- 4:50Speaker 1: the here come to they sayers, some of them from
- 4:53Speaker 1: the outside, some of them internally. Here's what gets said
- 4:58Speaker 1: when you get off track. See I told you, I
- 5:03Speaker 1: told you. You know you. You start hearing that it's
- 5:09Speaker 1: not for you. Okay, this is all just because you
- 5:15Speaker 1: got off track. It's not for you. Okay. Here's another one.
- 5:20Speaker 1: It ain't meant to be. You can hear it all
- 5:23Speaker 1: you could said, Well, I guess it's just not meant
- 5:26Speaker 1: to be. These are all things that people say to
- 5:30Speaker 1: themselves once they get off track. You can't do it, well,
- 5:36Speaker 1: I don't guess I can do it. Here's another one.
- 5:40Speaker 1: I thought you said that you was gonna make it.
- 5:45Speaker 1: You know, I was show hoping I could have made it.
- 5:48Speaker 1: It comes external or internal. But these are just some
- 5:51Speaker 1: of the things. It's that I thought you said you
- 5:54Speaker 1: was gonna lose weight. Well, you know I had tried
- 5:58Speaker 1: to lose some weight. I'm just going down the list
- 6:01Speaker 1: of some of the things that goes through a person's
- 6:05Speaker 1: mind when they get off track. But let me ask
- 6:08Speaker 1: you a question, though, Who made the rule that when
- 6:13Speaker 1: you get off track you can't get back on? Who
- 6:17Speaker 1: made that rule? Where has that written that once you
- 6:21Speaker 1: get off track you can't get back on? See, because
- 6:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something, folks, there's no such rule.
- 6:29Speaker 1: As a matter of fact, it's quite the opposite. See,
- 6:35Speaker 1: everybody in pursuit of a dream, a goal, and aspiration
- 6:40Speaker 1: or a mission, it's going to get off track. Sometimes
- 6:45Speaker 1: you're going to get derailed. They are going to be
- 6:47Speaker 1: days where you're not going to get it right. That
- 6:50Speaker 1: are going to be days where you feel like giving up.
- 6:52Speaker 1: There's going to be days when you're just gonna flat
- 6:55Speaker 1: out get it wrong. That's the journey. But let me
- 6:58Speaker 1: tell you something. Everything successful person that I know ever met,
- 7:02Speaker 1: talked to, set out and chopped it up with have
- 7:04Speaker 1: shared one thing in common. We all get off track.
- 7:09Speaker 1: We all get it wrong along the way. I don't
- 7:13Speaker 1: care who the person is. The president got it wrong
- 7:15Speaker 1: along the way. Your pastor got it wrong along the way. Qui, director,
- 7:22Speaker 1: QUI got it wrong along the way. The principle at
- 7:25Speaker 1: your school got it wrong along the way. The valor
- 7:29Speaker 1: victoria of your class got it wrong along the way.
- 7:34Speaker 1: The star of the team got it wrong along the way.
- 7:39Speaker 1: They've all been off track. Your boss down at your job,
- 7:43Speaker 1: he got it wrong along the way. Your immediate supervisor
- 7:47Speaker 1: got it wrong along the way. Everybody I know that
- 7:53Speaker 1: has any measure of success in every level that you
- 7:56Speaker 1: call success, however you want to label it, has gotten
- 8:00Speaker 1: off track. As a matter of fact, it's impossible. Listen
- 8:06Speaker 1: to me, it is impossible not to get off track
- 8:13Speaker 1: in pursuit of your dreams, goals, visions, aspirations. It is impossible.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Don't you let nobody tell you that they got through
- 8:22Speaker 1: life unscathed, that they made it because they was just
- 8:26Speaker 1: so determined and I would let nothing turn me back. Yeah,
- 8:30Speaker 1: you might not have let nothing turn you back because
- 8:32Speaker 1: you hear all but you thought about it. Oh, you
- 8:36Speaker 1: thought about it on days when you was off track.
- 8:39Speaker 1: But see, people don't like to tell the whole story.
- 8:42Speaker 1: They just want you to think as much as you
- 8:44Speaker 1: can about them. So when they tell you that story,
- 8:47Speaker 1: they leave out the stuff along the way. It was
- 8:50Speaker 1: just hard work and determination that got me here. No
- 8:53Speaker 1: it wasn't, No, it wasn't. It was the fact that
- 8:56Speaker 1: you got off track and the grace and mercy of
- 8:59Speaker 1: God allowed you to get back on. His forgiveness allowed
- 9:03Speaker 1: you to get back on because you would not believe
- 9:05Speaker 1: what some of the people have done. So when you
- 9:09Speaker 1: get off track, don't allow the naysayers outside and the
- 9:13Speaker 1: big naysayer inside, because let me tell you something, the
- 9:17Speaker 1: biggest naysayer of them all comes from inside. See, it
- 9:21Speaker 1: don't matter what other people say out there. It takes
- 9:24Speaker 1: some time for you to learn this. And I understand
- 9:26Speaker 1: because it took me some time to learn it. See.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I have a lot of naysayers out there, but I
- 9:31Speaker 1: ain't operating for them, operating function for the ones that
- 9:35Speaker 1: love me, for the ones that get me, for the
- 9:38Speaker 1: ones that understand what I'm really trying to do. And
- 9:41Speaker 1: so don't you be the one that doesn't allow yourself
- 9:48Speaker 1: to get back on track when you get off track, Because,
- 9:51Speaker 1: like I said, who made the rule up that you
- 9:53Speaker 1: can't get back on track. There's no such rule out there.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Stop stopping yourself from getting it right. So what you
- 10:04Speaker 1: started to diet at the beginning of the year, and
- 10:06Speaker 1: you already off start another one, start over, try it again,
- 10:13Speaker 1: don't ever stop trying. If you stop trying, you can't
- 10:17Speaker 1: make it. But if you never give up the effort,
- 10:20Speaker 1: if you never give up and say it's over, it
- 10:22Speaker 1: ain't over. You heard the saying it ain't over, to
- 10:25Speaker 1: the fat ladies, saying I never invite her. She's not invited.
- 10:32Speaker 1: It ain't over, to the fat ladies saying I don't
- 10:35Speaker 1: know where the fat ladies stay. I have not sent
- 10:38Speaker 1: her an invitation to none of my events. She's not
- 10:41Speaker 1: welcome here. She didn't ask me a couple of times.
- 10:44Speaker 1: How come I never get invited? Because you're gonna start
- 10:47Speaker 1: saying it, and I ain't got time for that. All right,
- 10:52Speaker 1: stop inviting the fat lady to all your events. You're listening,
- 11:01Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen, May I have your undivided attention. This
- 11:05Speaker 1: is the year two thousand nineteen. This is the beginning
- 11:10Speaker 1: of the future that we've all so gladly anticipated and
- 11:16Speaker 1: awaited us arrival and praised me to God we are
- 11:19Speaker 1: all here. Now that we are here, in the words
- 11:24Speaker 1: of a great songwriter, now that we found love, what
- 11:32Speaker 1: are we gonna do with thieves? That simply means, now
- 11:41Speaker 1: that is hell? What is we gonna do with it?
- 11:47Speaker 1: Let the church say man a man again. Yes, now
- 11:53Speaker 1: that we find love, what in the world is we
- 11:58Speaker 1: gonna do with it? Say it again, pastor say it again.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I say, now that we found little Yeah, what in
- 12:08Speaker 1: the world is we gonna do with it? I'm break
- 12:13Speaker 1: it down, past, to break it down. When you've been
- 12:17Speaker 1: devoid of lout for yeahs mate, all right, let's sake,
- 12:24Speaker 1: say maybe even a decade. When it comes up and
- 12:33Speaker 1: pops up, yes, right, stumbles up in front you, Come
- 12:38Speaker 1: on here, boy, trick it down on you, all right?
- 12:44Speaker 1: All potential manner from him? Come on away from here
- 12:48Speaker 1: with that? What or when it show up in front
- 12:53Speaker 1: of you where you can see it? Yeah, shut up,
- 12:56Speaker 1: just shut your mouth. Question becomes what is you gonna
- 13:03Speaker 1: do with it? You is stupid with it? You stupid
- 13:07Speaker 1: with it? Yes? Yes, yes, you can be stupid with
- 13:13Speaker 1: that's right. That's right. You can get you can get
- 13:15Speaker 1: goofy with, you can get you can get jigger with it.
- 13:21Speaker 1: You can get you start feeling so kind of way
- 13:24Speaker 1: about it, ignorant with it, younant with it? You want
- 13:28Speaker 1: you wanna put your mouth phone? You want to you
- 13:32Speaker 1: you you want to tangle it? Ain't get a little
- 13:41Speaker 1: put on it? Why did we found little? That is
- 13:48Speaker 1: the theme of this morning show? All right? Yes, what
- 13:52Speaker 1: is you gonna do with it? What are you gonna do?
- 13:57Speaker 1: All right? What I'm gonna when I find a little?
- 14:02Speaker 1: Almost break that day, almost show that thing what I'm
- 14:09Speaker 1: working And as we go to commercial break at the anphysisis, oh,
- 14:16Speaker 1: Shirley and car a anphysisis that means pissed off? Miss
- 14:23Speaker 1: They're going to debate on what they're gonna do with
- 14:26Speaker 1: it once they find it. I live back with more
- 14:31Speaker 1: of this show Wanted or Nothing two thousand nineteen. Right
- 14:41Speaker 1: after this, you're listening? All right, guys. So it's Tuesday now,
- 14:48Speaker 1: January eighth. Um, let's talk about New Year's resolutions. I
- 14:51Speaker 1: know you mentioned something about yours yesterday, Steve in your
- 14:56Speaker 1: closing remarks, and it's day eight of the new year.
- 15:00Speaker 1: So are you guys sticking to your resolutions? Did you
- 15:03Speaker 1: guys even make resolutions? I'm sticking right to you. Nothing result.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Keeping my word. Timing is everything. Yeah, I'm doing what
- 15:20Speaker 1: I'm doing, what I'll do. But Steve, you did mention yesterday.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I'll remind you you said that you don't necessarily wait
- 15:26Speaker 1: till the beginning of the new year to do what
- 15:29Speaker 1: you say you're gonna do, you say on Christmas Day.
- 15:33Speaker 1: But now I have some goals for two thousand nineteen.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I like that. And I have two major goals and
- 15:43Speaker 1: both of them are believe a healthy lady. Okay, okay, yeah,
- 15:50Speaker 1: that's first one. This year. I am going to get
- 15:56Speaker 1: my weight to two twenty to twenty Okay, Okay, that's good. Okay,
- 16:02Speaker 1: all right, I'm forty right now. Okay, I'm two forty
- 16:06Speaker 1: right now. I need to drop ten yeah, okay, I
- 16:11Speaker 1: need to drop twenty. Okay. This is the one that's
- 16:13Speaker 1: gonna throw everybody into something. But I gotta put some
- 16:15Speaker 1: pressure on myself. I'm down to twelve cigars this year,
- 16:23Speaker 1: one a mom and a month. Ye really, and that's
- 16:26Speaker 1: from from what did you used to do a month day?
- 16:34Speaker 1: Well that's a big change. That's a huge change. That's
- 16:37Speaker 1: a big difference one a month to Yeah, I'm gonna
- 16:44Speaker 1: do one. I'm trying to get it down right now.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I'm down to one a week. Okay, I'm trying to doctor.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Oh no, just Steve. Yeah, but you know, just just me, man,
- 17:01Speaker 1: I just you know what really did it? Man? Julian
- 17:04Speaker 1: Michaels was on my television show and she was on
- 17:07Speaker 1: the ladies panel and we were just you had a
- 17:10Speaker 1: train of Julian Michaels, and she was so mad at me.
- 17:16Speaker 1: She said, I said, yeah, I smoked cigars. You smoked cigars.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Oh my god, no, how many cigars you smoke? I
- 17:24Speaker 1: said probably three a week before week. Oh my god, No, no, Steve,
- 17:29Speaker 1: I can't. No, You're too important. She talked to me
- 17:33Speaker 1: so crazy your show. That her daughter. When I invited
- 17:38Speaker 1: her back on the show to be on the female
- 17:40Speaker 1: panel again, her daughter said, Mommy, is mister Harvey mad
- 17:43Speaker 1: at you? And so she was very timid backstage. And
- 17:47Speaker 1: I go backstage and say hello to the ladies before
- 17:49Speaker 1: we started the panel, and she was gonna, I'm really
- 17:52Speaker 1: sorry about the other time I was yelling, and I went, nah, man,
- 17:56Speaker 1: she affected me, she really did, so I'm gonna to
- 18:00Speaker 1: do that. Why. Yeah, you know, she said, you can
- 18:05Speaker 1: get cast of the mouth stuff like that. But you
- 18:09Speaker 1: know I'm not, so you're not. Don't Okay, So you're
- 18:18Speaker 1: cutting back one on you got a birthday, Well that's
- 18:27Speaker 1: probably be the one this morning. I haven't had a
- 18:31Speaker 1: cigar so far, but I had a one cigar last week,
- 18:36Speaker 1: but I haven't had a cigar this week. It seems
- 18:38Speaker 1: like if you cut back that much you'll probably eventually
- 18:41Speaker 1: give them up. You just want to do. We're gonna
- 18:43Speaker 1: do what you already got. You're not helping at this point,
- 18:47Speaker 1: Junior D. Cigar could last me the rest of my life.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I'm trying to figure out I need to start putting
- 18:55Speaker 1: my Here's the hard part. I don't know what I'm
- 18:58Speaker 1: gonna do to replace said because let me let me
- 19:02Speaker 1: tell you something. Cigar smoking offers me such a relaxation
- 19:06Speaker 1: and a moment of enjoyment. You know, I don't I
- 19:09Speaker 1: don't drink, So you know I can't cut that out
- 19:12Speaker 1: because I don't drink. You don't want to eat over eat,
- 19:16Speaker 1: you don't want to don't want to pick me up,
- 19:17Speaker 1: nothing else. Yeah, but I want to do something? But
- 19:20Speaker 1: what can I do? Man? That's what I need? Suggestions? Man,
- 19:23Speaker 1: I went to sex. I did. I mean, I don't
- 19:25Speaker 1: know if that I'll help you, but it relieves me
- 19:31Speaker 1: right about that. But you know, I hate with everything
- 19:38Speaker 1: community and everybody else. I'm can I ask y'all the question, honestly,
- 19:46Speaker 1: why does sex? Why does it after you get married?
- 19:52Speaker 1: Why does it? Like a careful like? How do I
- 19:56Speaker 1: say this else? The drug store with his father one time,
- 20:06Speaker 1: I had time for this. Ye A little boar was
- 20:09Speaker 1: in the drug store with his father one time, and
- 20:12Speaker 1: they was in the Aisland. He happened to be standing
- 20:14Speaker 1: in front of condoms and he saw a box of
- 20:20Speaker 1: condoms that was a three pack, and he said, Dad,
- 20:27Speaker 1: what are these right here? He said, well, son, that's
- 20:32Speaker 1: for college students. That's you know, about to have a
- 20:40Speaker 1: great weekend, a wonderful night after a weekend. That's what
- 20:45Speaker 1: that's for. He said, okay, Dad. Then he said, well Dad,
- 20:49Speaker 1: what is this box right here for? And it had
- 20:52Speaker 1: six of them in there. He said, well son, that's
- 20:55Speaker 1: for a high school student that you know, might have
- 21:01Speaker 1: some luck come his way, you know, this month. He said, okay.
- 21:06Speaker 1: So he saw a Twilve pack there you go, and
- 21:09Speaker 1: he said, Dad, what is that for? He said, Oh,
- 21:12Speaker 1: that's the twilve pack. He said, that's the married man.
- 21:15Speaker 1: So that's that's one for every month. See that's the
- 21:21Speaker 1: problem I got right there. They're gonna laugh more. All right, guys,
- 21:30Speaker 1: coming up it is the nephew would run that prank back? Yeah,
- 21:35Speaker 1: you got a good one that you think. We'll be
- 21:38Speaker 1: back at forty four after the hour, right after this
- 21:41Speaker 1: you're listening show coming up at the top of the hour,
- 21:47Speaker 1: National News with miss Anne with the latest on the
- 21:49Speaker 1: government shutdown. Right now, nephews here, it's time to run
- 21:54Speaker 1: that prank back. Trumper casket, trumper cast. Let me look
- 22:00Speaker 1: around the room when he well, I need confirmation from somebody.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Triple cast, run that triple cast. Jens Mortuary. This is
- 22:13Speaker 1: Calvin Man. Help you are you can? How you doing?
- 22:16Speaker 1: My name is Brandon Man or Brandon Giles. Um, I'm calling.
- 22:22Speaker 1: We've got somebody that has passed actually three people we
- 22:28Speaker 1: passed away. I thank you for that man. It was
- 22:32Speaker 1: kind of expected, so you know, it wasn't something that
- 22:36Speaker 1: caught us off guard. But you know, but all in all,
- 22:39Speaker 1: you know, we're still grieving about losing our loved ones.
- 22:42Speaker 1: But but I wanted to give you all a call.
- 22:44Speaker 1: We're trying to um pick a particular funeral home on
- 22:48Speaker 1: who we want to um take care of. Yes, yes, sir, yes, sir, okay,
- 22:54Speaker 1: I can definitely help you with that. And once again
- 22:59Speaker 1: I just want to to you know, just let you
- 23:01Speaker 1: know that we can pretty much do the whole game,
- 23:04Speaker 1: that we can make sure that your need to take
- 23:07Speaker 1: and from you know, from from now on, UM we're
- 23:10Speaker 1: here for you showing to get that out. What is
- 23:13Speaker 1: your main need? Uh? You said three people? Sir? Yes, yes, yes,
- 23:20Speaker 1: I wanted to bring attention to you. Do you guys
- 23:23Speaker 1: customize caskets? Yes, we do, goal plating, uh, engraving. We
- 23:29Speaker 1: even have a new thing where we can put the
- 23:32Speaker 1: picture of the person on the outside like a semi
- 23:35Speaker 1: gloss coating A couple of options. Yeah, I don't. I
- 23:39Speaker 1: don't need that all. No goal or nothing like that. Listen, listen,
- 23:42Speaker 1: what I want to do. Is it any way that
- 23:45Speaker 1: you could maybe uh customize a casket that can accommodate
- 23:50Speaker 1: three people? Um? Uh? Yes, like we we can. We
- 23:55Speaker 1: can customize each individual casket for each individual. No, no, no, Calvin,
- 24:01Speaker 1: I didn't want to ask. What I'm saying is if
- 24:03Speaker 1: I want to like like I like I said, my
- 24:06Speaker 1: could they was all close. You know, I don't have
- 24:09Speaker 1: a problem with all three of them being in the
- 24:12Speaker 1: same casket. I get you, um uh, you know, to
- 24:17Speaker 1: my knowledge is as far as I've been in this business,
- 24:20Speaker 1: I've never uh, I'm not really sure we can actually
- 24:24Speaker 1: do that. I mean, I mean, I mean, but what's
- 24:27Speaker 1: the problem if we can get them all in there, sir?
- 24:31Speaker 1: I mean, I think that's a I don't even think if,
- 24:34Speaker 1: for one, it's legal in this state or any state,
- 24:38Speaker 1: three people in one casket, um, and ethics wise, I uh,
- 24:43Speaker 1: that's not really something that how can I say that
- 24:47Speaker 1: we actually you know, but if you customizing a casket, Calvin,
- 24:51Speaker 1: then you ought to be able to put as many
- 24:53Speaker 1: people in there, if you make it deep enough and
- 24:55Speaker 1: wide enough. I ought to be able to get three
- 24:57Speaker 1: people in there, right. Well, the customization is the outer
- 25:03Speaker 1: side of the casket. And maybe you know, some people
- 25:07Speaker 1: even put TV screens on the inside or some of
- 25:10Speaker 1: their their their loved ones, memorable mementos. We customize it
- 25:16Speaker 1: for that, you know. Colorwise, So what about when when
- 25:20Speaker 1: is a person real big h you know, a heavy
- 25:22Speaker 1: said person you know, you gotta have a casket that
- 25:25Speaker 1: can accommodate them, right, yes, But okay, so so you
- 25:29Speaker 1: ought to be able to put you ought to be
- 25:30Speaker 1: able to put three people in one casket if they
- 25:33Speaker 1: can fit. If you put two one way in one
- 25:36Speaker 1: the other other way, then you ought to be to
- 25:38Speaker 1: have all three of them in there at one time. Um,
- 25:41Speaker 1: is there anybody else around you and your family that
- 25:44Speaker 1: can help talk with me about this? I'm talking right now.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I'm trying to get I'm trying to accommodate my cousins
- 25:51Speaker 1: and get them straight. And I'm asking you can we
- 25:53Speaker 1: get them in a casket, that one casket that can
- 25:56Speaker 1: accommodate three people If you put two pillars on one
- 25:59Speaker 1: in one pill that's not something we're really that ain't
- 26:04Speaker 1: just used to doing calb But I'm calling you telling
- 26:07Speaker 1: you that's the way I want this customize. Man, all right, brother, look, brother, brother,
- 26:12Speaker 1: just just chill out with customs, all right. So we're
- 26:14Speaker 1: trying to get three people. I have a standard plan,
- 26:18Speaker 1: it'll be a low end standard plan for three individual caskets.
- 26:24Speaker 1: We ain't gotta we all have enough money for three
- 26:28Speaker 1: individual caskets. I keep telling you that we got room
- 26:31Speaker 1: for one casket. We just need to big enough, man,
- 26:35Speaker 1: so you could get everybody in there. Close the dope.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I'm not gonna I'm not. I don't want to go
- 26:39Speaker 1: back and forth with you, sir. I know this is
- 26:41Speaker 1: a time then go. You ain't got to go back
- 26:43Speaker 1: and forth with me. Build us to our knees so
- 26:46Speaker 1: I can bear my family. It's I don't really know
- 26:49Speaker 1: what to tell you, sir, but I'm just really trying
- 26:51Speaker 1: to help. I'm trying to Won't you tell me you're
- 26:53Speaker 1: gonna get three people in the casket looking good? Cannot
- 26:57Speaker 1: do that? You hauling that? Man, I'm the one going
- 27:00Speaker 1: through bereathing. I understand that, but you are, you're you're
- 27:04Speaker 1: you're using foul language. It's we can't do it, brother,
- 27:07Speaker 1: you hear me not. That's no hold on my cousin.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Them said they wanted to use no, sir, No we can't. Okay, Look, look,
- 27:19Speaker 1: may man, y'all gonna bury these three people, and you're
- 27:22Speaker 1: gonna put all three of them in the same damn
- 27:25Speaker 1: casking man. Two two on one, one on one end
- 27:28Speaker 1: and one on the other. One. Man, sir, if you're drinking,
- 27:32Speaker 1: just ain't nobody. Let me tell you something, man, Let
- 27:34Speaker 1: me say this to you. Your name Calvin, right, yes,
- 27:37Speaker 1: yes it is. Okay, so Calvin, Calvin, let me say
- 27:40Speaker 1: this to you. Either y'all gonna bury my cousin is
- 27:43Speaker 1: the way I want it, or Calvin, you're gonna get
- 27:46Speaker 1: your who you're talking to. That's what's going now. Now, No, now,
- 27:51Speaker 1: that's it, right there, sir. I've been trying to be
- 27:53Speaker 1: as professional as I can. This whole conversation. It's as
- 27:56Speaker 1: crazy as it is. But now it ain't nothing crazy
- 27:58Speaker 1: about No, no, no, no no, no, told you I want
- 28:00Speaker 1: you to bury my cousin. Come on down here. I
- 28:02Speaker 1: got some place to put your body and your cousin's body.
- 28:05Speaker 1: How about that? Huh yeah? Because you know you don't
- 28:10Speaker 1: You don't sound too damn confident. You don't sound too confident, Calvin.
- 28:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you right now. I'm gonna tell you
- 28:17Speaker 1: right now, this ain't the police, and I'm not the
- 28:20Speaker 1: one you will be in the ground messing with us.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Matter fact. If you come here, I'm gonna you up.
- 28:26Speaker 1: How about that? Okay, Calvin? Okay, Calvin, let me tell
- 28:30Speaker 1: you something, Calvin, me and Tommy gonna be down there

- 37:17Speaker 1: is employant. That is a group of angry people. I
- 37:19Speaker 1: didn't do this all the time. I'm one of them.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Du poet. Got one for your head? Is this? I
- 37:26Speaker 1: wrote this? Now you ain't got snapped? Just this? Here
- 37:31Speaker 1: we go angry today. It's National Poetry Day, so I
- 37:38Speaker 1: have a little ride. I'd like to whip it out
- 37:41Speaker 1: and read it. It won't take up much time. Words
- 37:45Speaker 1: are put upon this earth for understanding and communication. So
- 37:51Speaker 1: go out and celebrate poem Day here across this great nation. PS.
- 37:57Speaker 1: You cannot rhyme the word on. You can't. The word
- 38:05Speaker 1: on is unrivable, unable? Do you have anything go with it?
- 38:15Speaker 1: You know why didn't you use another word? I just
- 38:18Speaker 1: had to let y'all know that that we don't never
- 38:22Speaker 1: use the word on because it's unrivable. Yea, he wrote,
- 38:25Speaker 1: he wrote this. Now here we go my last selection. OK,
- 38:30Speaker 1: I just rhyme the word on word. Somebody said they
- 38:36Speaker 1: was going to the stove. Somebody was going to buy on.
- 38:41Speaker 1: Somebody said, well if you going down there, didn't hear
- 38:45Speaker 1: everybody going stupid. That's the way he said. Okay, it
- 38:56Speaker 1: was close going. He is the last one for y'all.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Ask the poetry day, Ask yourself. What is a poem
- 39:13Speaker 1: but mere words that people stop and listen to read
- 39:16Speaker 1: in a book? No, no, no, no. Yet we are
- 39:18Speaker 1: too busy today to listen to the poem that others say.
- 39:22Speaker 1: So remember, if a strange man a woman comes up
- 39:26Speaker 1: to you with poem, take time to listen, and remember again,
- 39:31Speaker 1: you cannot rhyme the word on what you're not doing?
- 39:39Speaker 1: No more day, I killed this? What you again? What
- 39:52Speaker 1: was the last poem? Again? One more time? I'm still
- 39:54Speaker 1: try It was a poem time. The line was you
- 39:58Speaker 1: cannot rhyme the word old. I told you the first
- 40:00Speaker 1: and bet don't in a second. This boy's created no
- 40:08Speaker 1: Coming up at thirty four after the hour, we're gonna
- 40:10Speaker 1: talk about mister Donald Trump. Right after this, you're listening
- 40:15Speaker 1: to show in political news, the President will address the
- 40:20Speaker 1: nation tonight in its primetime speech on border security that
- 40:24Speaker 1: goes down at nine pm Eastern eight Central, and the
- 40:28Speaker 1: President also has plans on visiting the US Mexico border
- 40:32Speaker 1: on Thursday. As we all know, mister Trump has shut
- 40:36Speaker 1: down the government because of the lack of funding for
- 40:39Speaker 1: his wall. The White House is asking for five point
- 40:42Speaker 1: seven billion, that is billion with a B for a
- 40:46Speaker 1: steel barrier and Steve listen to this now. This is
- 40:49Speaker 1: according to ms NBC. The president also wants four point
- 40:53Speaker 1: two billion to support a capacity of fifty two thousand
- 40:57Speaker 1: detention beds, five hundred and sixty three million dollars for
- 41:01Speaker 1: seventy five immigration judges, and two hundred and eleven million
- 41:05Speaker 1: dollars to hire seven hundred and fifty more border patrol agents.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Five hundred and seventy one million dollars for law enforcement
- 41:13Speaker 1: officers in US communities to fight gang violence, smuggling, and trafficking,
- 41:19Speaker 1: eight hundred million dollars for humanitarian needs and that includes
- 41:24Speaker 1: medical care for detainees, and six hundred and seventy five
- 41:28Speaker 1: million to improve technology for inspecting vehicles coming through border
- 41:33Speaker 1: checkpoints for contraband what no money, what money coming from?
- 41:43Speaker 1: What was that total though? Ship? Oh I don't know,
- 41:46Speaker 1: I didn't add it up. Five billion four This is
- 41:51Speaker 1: an addition to the five billion. Oh no, no, no, no no, no.
- 41:55Speaker 1: See what they want to do is they'll give him
- 41:58Speaker 1: the money for all of that they will, because they've
- 42:01Speaker 1: already agreed to do one point some bill, you know,
- 42:04Speaker 1: two billions for security. They've already come to that. And like,
- 42:08Speaker 1: you know, I agree, you should have more border patrol officers.
- 42:12Speaker 1: You know, you should have you know, more judges so
- 42:14Speaker 1: you can speed the process herself, if that's what it's for.
- 42:18Speaker 1: You know, I agree with that, you know, if you
- 42:19Speaker 1: want to do that, that's border security. If but you
- 42:23Speaker 1: can't get that, And no, damn wall, ain't nobody fit
- 42:25Speaker 1: to be on the wall, because then you still got
- 42:27Speaker 1: the same problem. And there's a study out that says
- 42:30Speaker 1: all the wall gonna do is make it far. They
- 42:33Speaker 1: seven seconds harder to get in here. Seven seconds. That's
- 42:38Speaker 1: about how long it's gonna take it the average person
- 42:41Speaker 1: to clear that damn wall. Yeah, and plus they still
- 42:44Speaker 1: have tunnels. They're gonna run a dog on ladder over there,
- 42:48Speaker 1: ladder old vault airplane. How about your airplane? Yeah, a
- 42:54Speaker 1: flight and yeah, but all that money Stevens, in addition
- 42:58Speaker 1: to the five point seven bills in a hard apple loon,
- 43:02Speaker 1: can't you get over? How about you just get out
- 43:04Speaker 1: of California walk around. So he's gonna do a speech
- 43:08Speaker 1: tonight to try to explain, you know, the American people
- 43:13Speaker 1: that he shut down the government for this. I'm assuming
- 43:16Speaker 1: he's gonna try and break it down and make it
- 43:18Speaker 1: all make sense as to why he needs all this
- 43:21Speaker 1: money and stuff. You know, but what about these cavin
- 43:25Speaker 1: of Mexico. They told you before they weren't paying for
- 43:30Speaker 1: that walk. Yeah, we'll go back to him again. See
- 43:32Speaker 1: if down me. No, because he wants to blame the Democrats.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Now why why do that when you can blame the
- 43:39Speaker 1: Democrat this guy as a president. Man, this this is
- 43:44Speaker 1: a disaster for this nation, for people not to even
- 43:47Speaker 1: admit to that. You know what, let me tell you
- 43:50Speaker 1: what to watch for in this speech tonight. Okay, he's
- 43:53Speaker 1: gonna make all these repeated statements, and them damn Republicans
- 43:57Speaker 1: gonna stand up an applause. Oh yeah, no matter what,
- 44:01Speaker 1: even when they know what he's saying is a lie
- 44:06Speaker 1: or cannot happen. And the Democrats gonna be sitting over
- 44:10Speaker 1: there with they sitting on their hands. Man. Well, I
- 44:14Speaker 1: think what this speech is tonight, Steves from the Oval Office.
- 44:17Speaker 1: I think what you're talking about is the state of
- 44:19Speaker 1: the years, which will be in a few weeks. Yeah,
- 44:22Speaker 1: but he'll probably repeat the same thing and have that
- 44:24Speaker 1: same method and logic. That's stupidity. That's it's just stupidity

- 44:33Speaker 1: giving him. But but you don't know me. No, you
- 44:37Speaker 1: ain't getting day. And he's trying to blame it on
- 44:39Speaker 1: the shut down on the Democrats because they won't fund it.
- 44:42Speaker 1: He ain't get none. Pair of Nancy. You do notice though, No,
- 44:45Speaker 1: she don't look like she's gonna give him a day,

- 56:06Speaker 1: All right, thank you, nephew. I'm gonna try to get
- 56:08Speaker 1: through this all right? Subject? Am I trifling or ungrateful?
- 56:12Speaker 1: Dear Stephen Shirley. I am a forty two year old
- 56:15Speaker 1: single mother and I have two teenage children that live
- 56:18Speaker 1: with me. At my age, I wanted to become a
- 56:21Speaker 1: homeowner and stop renting, so I started looking for an
- 56:25Speaker 1: affordable place to buy. My mom recently received a financial blessing,
- 56:30Speaker 1: so she offered me to buy me a house. So
- 56:32Speaker 1: she offered to buy me a house. Hesitantly, I agreed.
- 56:36Speaker 1: I found a small, affordable home and my mother bought it.
- 56:40Speaker 1: I pay the mortgage, but the house is in my
- 56:44Speaker 1: mom's name, which is why I was hesitant to go
- 56:47Speaker 1: through with the deal. I should have followed my first mind,
- 56:52Speaker 1: because since I have moved in, I have not had
- 56:54Speaker 1: any peace in my home. On several occasions, I came
- 56:58Speaker 1: home to find that my mother had put pictures on
- 57:01Speaker 1: the wall, put up curtains, and bought pieces of furniture
- 57:05Speaker 1: from my house. She is a thrifty shopper, so I
- 57:08Speaker 1: don't like any of the design choices she has made.
- 57:11Speaker 1: One day, she dropped off ten vases and told me
- 57:15Speaker 1: she planned to keep fresh flowers in them and put
- 57:18Speaker 1: them throughout my house to liven it up. She comes
- 57:21Speaker 1: over every other day, and she stays overnight too. This
- 57:25Speaker 1: is unacceptable, so I had to tell her that enough
- 57:29Speaker 1: is enough. I asked her to please text or call
- 57:31Speaker 1: me before coming by. She made sure to remind me
- 57:35Speaker 1: that it's her house, that it's her house. She called
- 57:40Speaker 1: me an ungrateful heffay and said I was trifling for
- 57:46Speaker 1: not appreciating the way she's trying to help me to
- 57:48Speaker 1: decorate the house. I haven't talked to her, nor have
- 57:51Speaker 1: I seen her in a week, so I guess it worked.
- 57:55Speaker 1: I don't want to be at odds with my mom.
- 57:57Speaker 1: I'm very grateful for all she's done, but I need
- 58:00Speaker 1: her to respect my space. Am I wrong? Please? Help? No,
- 58:04Speaker 1: you're not wrong. You are absolutely not wrong, especially you know,
- 58:09Speaker 1: as long as you spoke to your mom in a
- 58:10Speaker 1: respectful way, and it sounds like you did. But boy,
- 58:13Speaker 1: this is really a case for going with your first mind,
- 58:17Speaker 1: for going with your gut here. This has got to
- 58:20Speaker 1: be in the top five of that. You know, you
- 58:24Speaker 1: knew it would be a problem though, which is why
- 58:26Speaker 1: you said you were hesitant in the first place. But
- 58:29Speaker 1: that down payment, your mama's money, was dangling in your face,
- 58:33Speaker 1: so you went forward. The lesson for you here is,
- 58:36Speaker 1: you know you should have got your name on the
- 58:38Speaker 1: house as well. You know, yeah, your mom paid the
- 58:41Speaker 1: down payment, but you could have put your name on
- 58:42Speaker 1: the deed surely after portrait. You could have done like
- 58:47Speaker 1: a quick claim um, you know, transaction, or just waited
- 58:52Speaker 1: until you came up with the money for your own house.
- 58:55Speaker 1: You could have done that because you've been looking for
- 58:57Speaker 1: a while. You could have been a little more patient.
- 58:59Speaker 1: I understand wanted to get the house though, and you
- 59:01Speaker 1: found one. It was right there, and your mom was there.
- 59:05Speaker 1: But in the meantime, yes, your mom is out of order.
- 59:08Speaker 1: When you know, when you give someone a gift, you
- 59:11Speaker 1: don't hover it over them, you know, and and and
- 59:14Speaker 1: invade their space like your mom's doing, constantly remind you
- 59:17Speaker 1: that it is her house. That's not right. I mean,
- 59:20Speaker 1: she's throwing it up in your face every chance she gets. Furthermore,
- 59:23Speaker 1: you're paying the mortgage you are, so it's it is
- 59:26Speaker 1: your house. I'm glad she's decided to remove her herself
- 59:30Speaker 1: from the situation and you could probably you know, a
- 59:33Speaker 1: little later on give it some time, call her and
- 59:36Speaker 1: you know, make your apologies, you guys, make up. She's
- 59:39Speaker 1: your mom. She's not going anywhere. But yeah, she's wrong
- 59:41Speaker 1: to do all of this. I mean, nice to help you,
- 59:44Speaker 1: but wrong as far as this is concerned. Steve, Well,
- 59:48Speaker 1: anytime y'all ready for me to make the clear fine
- 59:51Speaker 1: statement of this letter. Please stop me in the middle
- 59:55Speaker 1: of it and ask me at any time, Steve, do
- 59:58Speaker 1: you have a clear fine st eight man, and I'm
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: gonna make it. Let's start with the letter forty two
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: single mama, two teenage children. You know she always thought
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: that body and she'd be at home on the most
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: people do. That's a great goal in life, you know,
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: be at home on and stop written. So you start
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: looking for an affordable place. Your mom ran into a
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: financial blessing. See now here we go. Let's start. This
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: is a financial blessing. All your problems started with what
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: you considered a blessing. See careful. Your mama came up
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: with a financial blessing. It's whatn't yours. It's wasn't them kids.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: It's what your dad is. It's what none of your siblings.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: Your mama had a financial blessing, so she offered to
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: buy me a house. Hesitantly, I agreed. Why why would
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: you hesitively agree? But you found a small, affordable home
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: and my mother bought it. Your mama bought it. I
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: pay the mortgage, but the house is in my mama name. Now,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: if your mother was truly buying you the house, why
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: wouldn't she just give you the down payment and let
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: you own the house. That is because this was never
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: the intention. She just gonna let you stay there, right,
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: which is why I was hesitant to go through the deal.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: I should have followed my first man. I have not
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: had any peace in my home. It's because it ain't choice. See,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: let's just gonna get to this right. On several occasions,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: I can't home find my mother had put pictures on
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: the walls and curtain and bought the place furniture in
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: her house, my house. That's cause it's her house. Hang on, Steve,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: we'll have part two of your responses anytime y'all want
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: to clear Fine, statement when we come back, just as
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna ask you, We'll be back in twenty three
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: after the hour with today's Strawberry Letters? Subject, Am I
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: trifling or ungrateful? Right after this? You're listening, all right, Steve,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: Let's recap today's Strawberry Letters. The recap is simpleness. A
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: woman over here for the two got these kids. I
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: always wanted to own a house. Her mama ran into
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: a financial blessing, a gift from God, hallelujah. Yeah. Then
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: her mamma decided she'd help her daughter out by buying
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: her house. So she bought the house. Yeah, she paid
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: a mortgage, but it's in her mama's name, which is
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: why she was hesitating in the first place. Let's go
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: over what I said. I have not had any peace
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: in my home. Well that cause it ain't choice. On
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: several cases, I can't home find My mother put pigs
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: on wall to put up curtains, and bought piece of
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: furniture from my house. Excuse me her house. She's a
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: thrifty shopper, so I don't like any design choices she made.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: One day, she dropped off ten vasins, told me she
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: planned to keep fresh flowers in them and put them
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: throughout my house to living it up. She's gonna put
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: it in her house and they ain't gonna stay live.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: You're gonna have a bunch of dad and flowers. She
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: comes over. You want it anytime you want it? Can you?
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: What's the clarifying statement? Can't let black people put their
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: name on nothing? This is what this is all about.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: You can't let black people put their name on nothing
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: and then try to act like they ain't got no
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: safe something. Huh, that's the clarifying statement. I'll give it
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: to you anytime you want it. Here's another one. She

- 1:04:15Speaker 1: her to please text to call me before coming back.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Why I gotta call you to come back my house?
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: She may show to remind me that it's her she
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: got she can't add with them. Huh. Can you make
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: a clarifying statement? You can't let black people put their
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: name on nothing, least nothing, not the least the mortgage.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: They can't co sign, No damn low. They can't rich

- 1:05:21Speaker 1: black the whole time. All my relatives is black, every
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: last one of them. You can't let them put their
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: damn name on nothing. She called me ungrateful health. For

- 1:07:35Speaker 1: be at ours with my mama. I have very grateful
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: for all she's done, but I need her to respect
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: my space and my wrong. You ain't got no space.

- 1:10:13Speaker 1: them up. Man, they wouldn't let them up. They beat,
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: they beat. I ain't never seen Alabama take whipping like that.

- 1:10:55Speaker 1: of the categories. And who knows it might Lenda land
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: On that it's time for comedy rule here, go ahead, Jay,
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: commun That is something we do from time to time
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: since we get so many new listeners that listen to
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: the show. Yeah, and the Mississippi Jackson, Mississippi and Mississippi.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: We take four subjects and we put them on the
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: wheel and we spun the wheel around where the wheel
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: start is where we do the damn thing. It's the
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: past tense of spin. Un. These are the categories. Comedians ready,
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: things you things you have to say to get out
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: of a fight. That's number one. Number two, Uh yeah,
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: I like it, go ahead. Number two things Alabama fans
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: are saying to themselves, Oh right now, okay last night. Yeah,
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: that's in there, all right, that's in there, all right? Uh.
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: Number three, stuff you say at the store once you
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: take something back and you know you've used it, Okay,
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: you know you do. That's a good one, right, there
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: and number four things lonely people say to you as
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: to why they don't have anyone as to why they're
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: they're they're just all right, spend the wheelcap please. H okay,
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: it stops on, it stops on, guys. Things Alabama fans
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: are saying to themselves, Now let's go berbiet it sing
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: gonna be Knights Alabama on the woman came out. I
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: know one thing they saying to themself. One thing Alabama
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: fans saying themself. Has anybody spoke to that elephant? He
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: probably gonna kill hisself. Come on, let's go to them.
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: They said to themselves, I'm gonna need y'all to wash
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: this red and white stuff off my face. Get on
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: that damn plane. Here's one they got to be saying.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: I don't know why, but God's gotta be mad at
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: us for some reasons for this stuff happening, all right,
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: comedy Roulette, Steve. Things Alabama fans are saying to themselves.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: I'm tell you right now, they was cheating man on
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: too much. There's orange orange too much. But it's just
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: a game. Yeah stuff, I'm telling how serious he gets. Shark.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: There's probably something somebody that's an Alabama fan probably saying,
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: you know, I name my son Nick Saban that serious
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: like that, he can't live here no more. I'm gonna
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: some Alabama fans saying right now, I'm gonna be the
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: first to say it, but we're gonna need smart colored
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: boys out Here's what one of them gotta be saying.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: We lost mainly cosy didn't score enough points. But you
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: take that away and you got yourself at time, good one.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: I see things Alabama fans are saying to themselves Interstate
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: twenty Nick Berman, hamlet shout Carolina. But I tell you what,
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: don't let us catch your ass on it really can't
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: really mad. Yeah, they're saying all of this in Alabama.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: They say, has been sitting Alabama. You know what, we
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: lost that game last night. I told them they can't
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: won't ask for real. I know that. Shut up. Come
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: close things Alabama fans a thing to them. You know,
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: I think they won the game. Why I think they
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: won the game, and I ain't you know, don't be
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: one to put it out there. I think those they
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: had a white quarterback. You're giving all these Negroes and
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: Hawis all these shots. That's what we get for trying
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: to be impartial, all right, and that lady gentleman's comedy relaxed.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: In the words of George Wallace, segregation. Now we should
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: have stopped. All right, Thank you, guys. I think coming
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: up at the top of the hour, check this out, guys. Finally, finally,
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: some justice for Centoria Brown. Tennessee governor has granted her clemency.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: We'll talk about that right after this. You're listening to
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: Steve Finally justice for Centoya Denise Brown. Now, this was
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: the woman who was serving a life sentence for killing
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: a man who brought her, who bought her for sex
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: when she was just sixteen years old. You guys may
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: remember this story. She's been granted clemency, thank god. And
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: thanks to the Tennessee Governor, Bill Haslam, he's granted at
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: executive clemency to Centoia Brown. She's been serving a life
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: sentence for that murder. She committed a murder when she
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: was sixteen years old. Her case was championed by a
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: number of celebrities, including Rihanna, Ashley Judd, and Kim Kardashian.
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: Centoia Brown supporters have said that she acted in self
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: defense when she killed forty three year old Johnny Mitchell.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: Johnny Mitchell Allen is his name. This was back in
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: two thousand and four, claiming that she feared that he
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: would kill her after he took her to his house
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: for sex. Since then, Centoia Brown has been pleading her case,
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: explaining that she was a sex trafficking victim at the
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: time and feared that her life was in danger. Tennessee
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: Governor Bill haslum commuted Centoia brown sentence of life imprisonment
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: and is now scheduled to be released for to parole's
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: supervision on August seventh of this year. So that is
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: a great August August seventh of this year. Yeah, why
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: so long? But we were in well, you know, bureaucracy, Yeah,
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: red tape, all of that. Damn. Yeah. Well now yeah,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: she's getting out. Gotta gotta give the governor credit. Yes,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: and we definitely do about that. Blessing you went from
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: life to August. I'll take it. Yeah, you know, finally
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: justice man. But man, that's so unfair of the woman.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: I mean, what do you want women to do? Do?
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: You bought her? Well, hold on doubt what you mean?
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: You bought her? Man? How this goal? Yeah? She was sixteen, sixteen,
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: thirty forty eighty five. Bye, that's crazy. Yeah, he's gonna
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: buy this woman abused something like that, and't man anybody
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: finishing them and take all that. Come on, man, that's crazy.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: What would she posted? Dude? Why she and jail in
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: the first place? That they didn't hear that part? He
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: bought her, he sex traffic her, she feared for her life,
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: she killed him. What what what I'm everybody do with
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: that story? Yeah? That that story sounds good. That's open
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: and shut. I know I've often wondered, what are these judges?
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: Are these people hearing the same case that we're hearing.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: Are they seeing the same things that we see when
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: they make these kinds of juvenile as an adult? Hello?
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: But not not to bring this up again, but the
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: juror in Surviving R Kelly, old foreign sounding dude. I
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: didn't believe any of the girls the way they would dressing.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: I don't care if the little girls had on panty sets.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: They fourteen, you know, their children? The kids, man, Yeah,
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: I don't. They came out and high heel shoes and bikinis.
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: They kids. But he's sitting up with his old decrepid
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: ass racist cost cost. They I didn't like that were addressed.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: I didn't believe none. I ain't believe none of them.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: One thing my mom always said, everybody ain't gonna tell
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: the same lie, yea, the same don't different people telling
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: the exact same lie. I was in the room. I
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: couldn't come out. I didn't get fed, I got slapped,
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: I was made I couldn't call nobody. I was ordered
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: to do this. I was in training. Everybody can't tell
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: the same lie, not everybody, that's right. Everybody can't tell
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: the same lie. See a lie mans for deception. Everybody
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: can't tell that same one because it's a lie. See
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: if everybody repeating the same thing over and over and
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: over and over, see, you can't. That's that's so this
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: woman gets clemency. First of all, thank you to the governor,
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: because there's been other governors that haven't ignored this. I
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: really appreciate him. I hate that it's taken to august
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: I don't get that part. But augusty is better than life. Uh,
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: she did kill the guy, But man, I can't think
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: of a better reason to protect yourself. It's called self defense,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: and somebody's abusing you. I don't. I don't get it,
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: you know why, I'm from sixteen year old to life. Yeah, life, life.
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: This is two thousand and one four. Wow, that's crazy. Wow.
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: Sixteen year old for life, two thousand and four for
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: she already did fourteen. Yeah. Yeah, she's about sixteen, you
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. So she's thirty now thirty, Yeah, Jesus,
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: A long term a long term man. Half of her life,
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: her young life. Oh dog, she's done exact same amount
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: of time she's been on Earth, has been in a
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: prison and in one of the most critical parts of
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: her life. But praise God, she gets out and hopefully
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: she can get into a support system that can get her,
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: you know, loved and guided and protected, you know, so
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: she can get out and help, you know, maybe one
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: day find real love, start a family, you know, be
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: a happy have a healthy life. You know. Yeah, let's
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: just hope prison hasn't done man, the institutionalized that, the
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: mental aspect, prison is so damaging. So maybe she can
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: get some therapy. You know, they did a documentary about this.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: This is how everybody found out about the case, you know,
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: if you didn't know locally. So I think they're going
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: to do a follow up documentary. She's been doing schooling
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: and stuff. She's been rebuilding herself while in prison too,
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: educating herself and things like that. So you write, Steve
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: when she gets out hopefully, you know, I just understand,
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: I just go that long in jail, for way more
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: time than the crime. It's a lot of them, but
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: it's a lot of women in jail for the same thing,
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: for killing an abusive man. It's a lot of women
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: incarcerated for that man a lot. Yeah, all right, coming up,
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: we'll have more of the Steve Harvey Morning Show right
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: after this you're listening to show. The IRS announced on
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: Monday evening actually that despite the government shutdown, it will
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: process tax returns starting January twenty eighth and issue tax
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: refunds as planned. That's a move ordered by the White
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: House earlier. The IRS is sent close to nine percent
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: of its workforce home without pay due to the government's
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: partial shutdown, and according to a contingency plan published by
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: the agency in December, IRS offices are closed, tax questions
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: are not being answered, and prior to Monday's announcement, there
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: was a concern that refunds to early filers this year
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: might not be issued on time if the shutdown dragged on.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: According to Yahoo dot com, Russ Bout, acting Director of
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: the Office of Management and Budget, told reporters Monday afternoon
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: that the administration would be updating guidance from past shutdowns
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: in order to allow for tax returns to be fulfilled
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: during the ongoing partial shutdown. Can they talk to Trump

- 1:31:40Speaker 1: Here we are. We're at the last break of the day.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: It's been a big day, a good day. We learned
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: a lot today, Steve. Take us home with some inspiring
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: and enlightening closing remarks. You know yesterday, because of the
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: new year, I want to share something else with you all.
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: I want you to do this in two thousand nineteen.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: Lean lean on God's promises. You know, it's really not
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: that difficult. His promises are true. He does love you.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: He's proving it time and time again. The reason that
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: you know God loves you. I mean, just think about it,
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: look back on two eighteen seventeen, sixteen, fifteen fourteen, right
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: on down the line, and think of all the things
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: that you didn't think you would make it through, and
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: He bought you through anyway, even even without you directly
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: asking him too. I mean, let's be real. We ain't
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: prayed about everything. Let's just gonna keep it one hundred.
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: We ain't really talk to him about everything, Let's keep
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: it one hundred. We ain't really confided in him and
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: sought his counsel and advice on everything. We are all
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: stepped out there and done some stuff on our own.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: We made our own decisions, we made some beds we
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: had to lay in. But in spite of that, did
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: he not bring you through all of it? Answer the
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: question I'm talking to you. Answer the question twenty eighteen seventeen,
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: sixteen fifteen. Did he not bring you through everything you
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: thought you wasn't gonna make it through, even if it
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: was a health issue, He brought you through it. You're
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: still here. Did not he do it? Even when you
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: didn't ask him to. Let's just have a real conversation
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: going into two nineteen. So now what I've decided to
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: do because I fall into that category. See, I'm not
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: talking to you like, let me tell y'all something to
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: help straighten y'all out. This for Steve Harvey too. This
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: is very much for Steve Harvey. See, I've lived this.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: That's how I know this, without pen paper notes or anything.
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: Because I didn't live this. I've not confided and conferred
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: with him on everything. But because of his goodness and
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: his pure love for me, he brought me through some things.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: I really didn't know how I got on the other side.
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: I looked back and said, man, remember that old song
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: old people used to saying, my soul looked back and
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: wonder how I got over. I've looked back, and man,
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: I got through that. And I didn't even get tough
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: up behind it. I might as theah forty three one
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: and two. I can walk through the fire and not
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: get burned, Nor was kindling set upon my clothing, which
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: means I've walked through the fire, came out the other side.
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: It didn't even look like I was on fire, and
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: it was no soit on me. There was no signs
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: that I was in the fire. That's how good God
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: has been to all of us. So in two thousand nineteen,
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: to amplify that, I have decided in two thousand nineteen
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: that I'm going to approach two thousand nineteen with the
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: expectations that God is going to do great things for me.
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: That God is going to take me to places I've
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: never gone before, that He's going to lift me higher
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: than I've ever been, That He's going to see me
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: through every challenge, set back, and hardship that besets me
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: in two thousand nineteen. I expect Him to continue to
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: show his greatness to me, because he always do. I
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: expect two thousand nineteen to be better than two thousand
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: and eighteen. I expect all this to be my season.
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: I expect doors to open that have been closed to
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: me in the past. I expect healing in my body.
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: I expect clear, concise understanding. I expect the element of
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: confusion to be removed from me. I expect to have
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: direction in two thousand nineteen. I expect it if you
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: live your life in the expectation of God, if you
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: start putting most stuff at his feet, if you start
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: laying most stuff out for him, he does more. He's
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: a dude, all. God, he's a he's a he's a
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: show up right now. God, he's a he's a he's
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: a man. He's awesome. God is really awesome, y'all. God
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: is really the best thing that's available for us in
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: two and nineteen. We don't need the more agents, we
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: don't need no lawyers. We need more God. I'm telling
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: you flat out, in two thousand nineteen, I'm expecting to
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: be closer to him. Now. Am I gonna be perfect?
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: By no stretch of the imagination. Am I gonna try
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: to be perfect, be honest, which I probably ain't gonna
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: try to be perfec because I already know I ain't
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: gonna make it. I already know that. But I'm going
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: to be closer to him. I'm gonna spend two thousand
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: nineteen talking with him a little bit more. I'm gonna
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: spend two thousand nineteen expecting my dreams to come true.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna spend two thousand nineteen expecting doors to open,
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: even when people tell me they're gonna close them. I
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: expect great things to happen for me If I were you,
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: I would take two thousand nineteen and approach it with
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: the aspect of expectation and see what happened. Go back
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: over the rest of the years. Ain't he done what
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: he said he was gonna do? Plus some? Why would
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: he not continue? So why would you not expect it?
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: Those are my closing remarks. That's it, Yes, sir, better
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: drop that Yeah, slapped in through it in the flow
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: man and hanging out aladavia. For the new listeners out
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: there that don't understand, why I say y'all have a
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: great weekend is because I expect it to be a
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: great weekend when they get him, and I expect to
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: be here when he get him. So I start on Monday, Tuesday,
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: Wednesday by saying, have yourself a great weekend because I
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: expect it to get him now. So let's get out
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: of here, y'all have great weekend for all Steve Every
