- 0:28Speaker 3: Here we go.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Welcome to Money Making Conversation Masterclass. I'm your host, Rayshawn McDonald.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Welcome to the show. Our thing today is there's no
- 0:37Speaker 1: perfect time to start following your dreams. It's time to
- 0:40Speaker 1: stop reading other people's success stories and start living your own.
- 0:43Speaker 1: People always talk about their purpose or gift. If you
- 0:46Speaker 1: have a gift, lead with your gift and don't let
- 0:48Speaker 1: your friend's family or coworker stop you from planning or
- 0:50Speaker 1: living your dreams. We were discussing all these things, like
- 0:54Speaker 1: we do every week, how to overcome the odds to
- 0:57Speaker 1: be successful. My guest is doctor Robert. He's the CEO
- 1:01Speaker 1: of Conquer Worldwide. Conquer Worldwide is a consulting firm that
- 1:05Speaker 1: offers business advisory services and financial consulting to individuals and corporations.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Doctor Watkins has invested in over two hundred new business owners,
- 1:14Speaker 1: assisted thousands of families to change the trajectory or their
- 1:18Speaker 1: financial legacies, and has facilitated more than ten million in
- 1:21Speaker 1: capital for startups. Please welcome the Money Making Conversations Masterclass,
- 1:25Speaker 1: Doctor Robert Watkins. How are you doing, sir?
- 1:27Speaker 3: I'm wonderful. Thank you so much for having me.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Now where are you based at?
- 1:31Speaker 3: I'm based in Orlando by way of Atlanta. Born in Detroit,
- 1:36Speaker 3: but have an office in Atlanta, but I'm living and
- 1:38Speaker 3: living my best life right now in Orlando, Florida.
- 1:41Speaker 1: I'll tell you what. Thy very familiar with Orlando, Florid.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I'd like to call that Mosquito Country, okay, because you
- 1:47Speaker 1: go down there, you drive every home seems to have
- 1:50Speaker 1: a screen on their back porch.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Yeah, well we're no different there. So you know, Disney
- 1:55Speaker 3: being down there, you know they've done a pretty good
- 1:57Speaker 3: job controlling the critters down there. But yeah, we need
- 2:00Speaker 3: those screens to stay away from them.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Scheels absolutely. Let's talk about it. You say, send your
- 2:04Speaker 1: intro has invested in it. Over two hundred new business
- 2:07Speaker 1: owners assisted thousands of families to change the financial trajectory
- 2:12Speaker 1: of their legacies. Talk about your background.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I used to teach business at EMA University
- 2:17Speaker 3: actually here in Atlanta. And when people graduate from my
- 2:21Speaker 3: MBA program in business that was out of business school,
- 2:24Speaker 3: they were called back two years later and say, doctor,
- 2:26Speaker 3: why because I need money? And then I would go
- 2:29Speaker 3: in the churches and I would teach you on business
- 2:31Speaker 3: and finance. And all the people in the church was like, doctor,
- 2:33Speaker 3: why because I need money. And so we started a
- 2:35Speaker 3: financial company to help students and to help people who
- 2:39Speaker 3: have dreams and visions, because at the end of the day,
- 2:42Speaker 3: a dream without resources is a nightmare. And when people
- 2:47Speaker 3: don't have the capital, they live in what I call
- 2:50Speaker 3: holy frustration. And so we started a financial company about
- 2:54Speaker 3: seventeen years ago, and we do about sixteen seventeen million
- 2:57Speaker 3: dollars a year in lines of credit term loans in
- 3:02Speaker 3: lots of one hundred to three hundred thousand dollars. Most
- 3:04Speaker 3: people don't need a million dollars, They just need maybe
- 3:07Speaker 3: fifty or sixty seventy thousand dollars to get off the ground,
- 3:10Speaker 3: and we have created probably many more than two hundred
- 3:14Speaker 3: new real estate investors, probably somewhere around seven or eight
- 3:17Speaker 3: hundred now of brand new real estate investors, and especially
- 3:21Speaker 3: those that are in college. I say, you don't have
- 3:23Speaker 3: to wait till you graduate to invest in property to
- 3:27Speaker 3: start building wealth. The earlier you do it, the better.
- 3:30Speaker 3: But the access to capital, which all these other banks
- 3:33Speaker 3: that were controlled by non minorities typically say no, eighty
- 3:38Speaker 3: percent of the time, we say yes. And we have
- 3:41Speaker 3: taken the frustrated entrepreneur and created well for those people
- 3:45Speaker 3: in the one hundreds. So we've been doing a really
- 3:47Speaker 3: good job. I'm really proud of my team.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Now, how does one get in touch with you? When
- 3:50Speaker 1: you talk about these financial opportunities? There's always paperwork involved,
- 3:54Speaker 1: and usually when from the minority perspective, that's when they stop.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Nobody wants to do the paper, nobody wants to do
- 4:00Speaker 1: the background check it. But everybody wants to, Hey, I
- 4:03Speaker 1: need help give me some money. So there's steps to
- 4:07Speaker 1: this whole program. There's steps to people really engaging themselves
- 4:10Speaker 1: with their financial assistance.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Talk about that, well, the difference between us that we
- 4:14Speaker 3: have our own underwriters. Underwriting is really where the magic
- 4:18Speaker 3: happens in terms of getting to a Yes, most of
- 4:20Speaker 3: us know about underwriting when we're buying a home. We're
- 4:23Speaker 3: about building our life right, our dreams. So I have
- 4:25Speaker 3: two underwriters that work for me full time, and they
- 4:29Speaker 3: understand the plight of guys like me. Are a black
- 4:32Speaker 3: man who grew up in Detroit, who was supposed to
- 4:35Speaker 3: die of a drug bust or some gang violence. But
- 4:38Speaker 3: I'm certainly not supposed to be here talking to one
- 4:40Speaker 3: of the most successful men in the world right now
- 4:42Speaker 3: about business. But we have those two underwriters who understand
- 4:46Speaker 3: the sensitivity of our backgrounds. Right. We may not have
- 4:51Speaker 3: the best credit, we may not have the best experience
- 4:55Speaker 3: when it comes to certain matters of going to the
- 4:56Speaker 3: next step. So we take in all of those factors.
- 4:59Speaker 3: When you control on the writing, you pretty much can
- 5:01Speaker 3: control the Yess.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm talking to doctor Robert Watkins. He's the CEO
- 5:07Speaker 1: and founder Conquer Worldwide. And it's important to talk about
- 5:11Speaker 1: what we always talk about. Now. You hear about fintech,
- 5:14Speaker 1: financial tech, we talk about greenwood, we talk about black banking,
- 5:18Speaker 1: we talk about trying to create financial structures where we
- 5:21Speaker 1: can walk in and see somebody like us who may
- 5:24Speaker 1: be under more understanding and allows an opportunity to grow
- 5:27Speaker 1: our dreams and grow our dreams always needs financial assistance. Now,
- 5:31Speaker 1: when I talk about your background, you know I did
- 5:33Speaker 1: my research military guide Al sir. How did that help
- 5:36Speaker 1: you out as far as discipline? Did it provide discipline?
- 5:39Speaker 1: That did you give your sense of direction?
- 5:41Speaker 3: Absolutely? Before I went in the army, I was seventeen
- 5:43Speaker 3: years old and I graduated. I ran track, so I
- 5:46Speaker 3: was really good in track. And I remember coming home
- 5:49Speaker 3: after graduating and my mom asked me, so, what are
- 5:51Speaker 3: you going to do in life because I didn't want
- 5:52Speaker 3: to go to school. And I said, well, I'm going
- 5:54Speaker 3: to write around and get high. She said, oh okay. Really,
- 5:57Speaker 3: she didn't get mad at me or anything. I stayed
- 5:59Speaker 3: at the one o'clock in the morning. I came home.
- 6:01Speaker 3: She was she just said, oh, you're okay. I said,
- 6:03Speaker 3: I was okay, And I got up That next morning
- 6:06Speaker 3: I was like, wow, I'm really grown now. And it
- 6:08Speaker 3: was I got up and I heard a guy. I
- 6:11Speaker 3: told her I just went around and get high. That
- 6:13Speaker 3: was my That's all I want to do and get
- 6:15Speaker 3: a double white trailer. That was my plan to success.
- 6:19Speaker 1: That was it.
- 6:20Speaker 3: And I got up that morning, sir, I.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Just had to stop, you said, he was, so that
- 6:26Speaker 1: was a that was a dream. My dream when I
- 6:27Speaker 1: got out of high school was be a forklift drive.
- 6:29Speaker 1: So I can't laugh too loud, okay, and I'm do.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I got a job as a forklift driver. So when
- 6:35Speaker 1: you say that, because that was my dream, and I
- 6:37Speaker 1: and I have to slow that down because you know,
- 6:39Speaker 1: our dreams could be so small.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Yeah, if we just.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Open our opportunity that people meant to us to show
- 6:45Speaker 1: you what we can be. And so you told your mom, I'm.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Right around and get high and get a double white trailer.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Cool.
- 6:52Speaker 3: That was it, and she said, oh okay. I got
- 6:55Speaker 3: up there. Next morning, I heard a man in my house,
- 6:57Speaker 3: just my mom, just raising by herself. I went down stairs.
- 7:00Speaker 3: The first thing I saw with some shiny boots around
- 7:03Speaker 3: the corner, and I looked up. The guy was wearing
- 7:05Speaker 3: a green uniform and he said, you're Robert Watkins. I'm
- 7:08Speaker 3: in my underwear. I said, yeah, who are you? He said,
- 7:13Speaker 3: welcome to the army. Son. My mom signed my butt
- 7:16Speaker 3: away to the Army and it saved my life and
- 7:19Speaker 3: I was mad. I was scared, but I was a knucklehead,
- 7:23Speaker 3: and I've never really heard my voice and the first time,
- 7:26Speaker 3: this is where I grew up when private and basic training.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Private Jackson called me to the front of the platoon
- 7:32Speaker 3: and he said, call the men to attention. I said me.
- 7:35Speaker 3: I said who am I? And he said, he says, soldier,
- 7:39Speaker 3: do it? And I said, men attend gun and those
- 7:42Speaker 3: men snapped to attention. I heard my voice for the
- 7:45Speaker 3: very first time. I really believe I grew up in
- 7:48Speaker 3: that moment, that my voice mattered. Something clicked on the
- 7:51Speaker 3: in side of me, and I really believe I went
- 7:54Speaker 3: from being a boy to a man in that moment,
- 7:56Speaker 3: and so I carried that responsibility and I realized that
- 7:59Speaker 3: I was insecure about who I was. And so that
- 8:03Speaker 3: discipline that learned in the service, caring about your fellow man,
- 8:07Speaker 3: caring about carrying, having a mission, having an assignment, and
- 8:11Speaker 3: completing what you started. It's made me the man I
- 8:14Speaker 3: am today, which.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Is really important because I always tell people about setting
- 8:18Speaker 1: goals and then completing the goal, because you can't go
- 8:20Speaker 1: to the next goal unless you wrap on a lot
- 8:21Speaker 1: of people don't understand that. They just have a lot
- 8:23Speaker 1: of things happening in their lives, but not one of
- 8:26Speaker 1: them is a completed goal. And so I call that
- 8:28Speaker 1: busy frustration because you keep you're frustrated because you're not
- 8:32Speaker 1: doing anything, but you got all this business that's taking
- 8:34Speaker 1: up time for you complete something. And so that's what
- 8:37Speaker 1: you're saying. Goal orientation, that's what we're talking about now,
- 8:40Speaker 1: and that's what drives successful business. Now when you do
- 8:43Speaker 1: you did go to college, yes, and then you became
- 8:46Speaker 1: a fraternity demand.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I did. I placed Capitelphaci and so I'm still
- 8:52Speaker 3: active when I can.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Well, you know, for the reason I bring that because
- 8:55Speaker 1: I'm a member of Omega Sci five and so and
- 8:57Speaker 1: I tell people, you know, I'm not saying fraternity life
- 9:00Speaker 1: is for everybody, but it did. I was a guy
- 9:02Speaker 1: just just just wandering do college. I'm not gonna lie
- 9:05Speaker 1: to you. It took me seven years to graduate, and
- 9:07Speaker 1: four and a half years of that I was still
- 9:10Speaker 1: a freshman basically. And then when I played, I really
- 9:14Speaker 1: it gave me a sense of goals, It gave me dates.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I always tell people operate on thirty ninety day and
- 9:20Speaker 1: six month intervals in my life because the typical person
- 9:24Speaker 1: operates on that thirty dight window. They always worried about
- 9:26Speaker 1: the rent, always worried about the rent, always worried about
- 9:28Speaker 1: paying that bill the next thirty days. And so I
- 9:31Speaker 1: had to get out of that thirty day cycle, which
- 9:33Speaker 1: is typical for minority households, to the ninety day cycle.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Then I went to the six month cycle, and then
- 9:39Speaker 1: I project a year like you're supposed to do with
- 9:42Speaker 1: a business. Because you can't project a year in advance,
- 9:44Speaker 1: then you don't know if you can make money, which
- 9:46Speaker 1: means you don't have a real plan. And so that's
- 9:48Speaker 1: why I just wanted to bring that up, because it's
- 9:50Speaker 1: not saying whether you tie to your fraternity now an
- 9:54Speaker 1: active member. It's about a certain discipline. You've had back
- 9:57Speaker 1: to back levels of discipline in your life. One with
- 9:59Speaker 1: the military in the second world is the fraternity.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, And that's where I really learned about the
- 10:04Speaker 3: bond right and in brotherhood, because I was the only
- 10:08Speaker 3: child growing up, and so I had to get out
- 10:10Speaker 3: of selfishness. You can't be selfish and help your brother.
- 10:14Speaker 3: You got to get out of yourself And so that
- 10:16Speaker 3: was a great experience for me there on the campus
- 10:19Speaker 3: and pleasure in camp OFFICALI and I love the cues
- 10:21Speaker 3: as well. You all in the Divine Nine. I think
- 10:24Speaker 3: that we're working more together ever before, and it's a
- 10:28Speaker 3: wonderful thing.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Absolutely. Now let's let's get to why we brought you
- 10:31Speaker 1: in the show. You know, it's about financial advice, business advice,
- 10:36Speaker 1: and I did little research, you know, with your social media,
- 10:38Speaker 1: and I saw these nice little things that I wanted
- 10:40Speaker 1: to bring up. And let's talk about, you know, five
- 10:44Speaker 1: reasons why small businesses and churches fail.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Well, the number one thing is just a lack of leadership,
- 10:51Speaker 3: just incompetency. You're only going to go as far as
- 10:55Speaker 3: the people are around you. I always say, and you
- 10:56Speaker 3: say this as well. If you hang around nine broke people,
- 10:59Speaker 3: guess will be the tenth one. And you go into
- 11:01Speaker 3: a lot of small businesses and certainly not here. You
- 11:03Speaker 3: have competent brothers here that are working, that are focused,
- 11:06Speaker 3: that they're the technical, they know your vision. I sense that.
- 11:11Speaker 3: I mean, you go into some churches, black churches and
- 11:14Speaker 3: white churches, but mostly the black churches where I'm hanging
- 11:16Speaker 3: out in you know, the Bible talks about how we
- 11:18Speaker 3: need faithful and able, not just faithful, but faithful and able.
- 11:24Speaker 3: And so that's the number one thing, is that just
- 11:26Speaker 3: having incompetency around a competent leader that is frustrating.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Well, you know the thing about it because the reason
- 11:32Speaker 1: I brought that up because I heard because rarely do
- 11:35Speaker 1: you hear hear the word business in church in the
- 11:37Speaker 1: same sentence. But really, a church is a business. It's organized,
- 11:41Speaker 1: and a lot of people want to ignore that. But
- 11:44Speaker 1: what also happens is it's also like in the business,
- 11:48Speaker 1: you expect full time service, you pay somebody full time.
- 11:51Speaker 1: In church, I don't know if that's the same mentality
- 11:54Speaker 1: until you start treating it like a business. You know,
- 11:56Speaker 1: some churches are when you go wow, you have to
- 11:58Speaker 1: say wow, because you know they have forty hour people
- 12:01Speaker 1: they do, they have film crews, they have leadership groups,
- 12:05Speaker 1: or it is a business. And so when you say
- 12:07Speaker 1: five reasons why, that's one of them is leadership.
- 12:09Speaker 3: What's the next another is this is lack of resource.
- 12:12Speaker 3: It's a lack of money. Now, the reason why white
- 12:16Speaker 3: churches excel much faster than white churches, it's simply because
- 12:22Speaker 3: of education, yes, sir, And it's because if you're hearing
- 12:25Speaker 3: about wealth building products, stocks, investing, et cetera, and only
- 12:29Speaker 3: thing you're hearing in another church is is giving, give
- 12:31Speaker 3: and give and giving. You know, typically when a black
- 12:35Speaker 3: person gives, typically genuinely speaking, they're giving out of a paycheck,
- 12:38Speaker 3: So it really is sacrificial giving. When a white family gives,
- 12:41Speaker 3: on average, they're giving out of wealth, an overflow, they're
- 12:45Speaker 3: giving out of a business, they're giving out a stock,
- 12:47Speaker 3: a retirement fund, ira mutual fund, they're giving out of
- 12:50Speaker 3: some type of wealth product. When you're giving out of
- 12:54Speaker 3: a paycheck, it's like even I'm gonna give this church
- 12:56Speaker 3: one hundred dollars, I'm gonna have lights right right, So
- 12:59Speaker 3: we have to use words like sacrificial giving, and we
- 13:01Speaker 3: can offering have to be thirty minutes long just to
- 13:05Speaker 3: get people to give, because they're giving out of their life.
- 13:09Speaker 3: So what we have to do is start educating our
- 13:12Speaker 3: people about money, and you're the leader in this area,
- 13:15Speaker 3: so that we can give more and do more and
- 13:19Speaker 3: leave something that's lasting for this next generation.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Yeah, when I'm speaking to doctor Robert Watkins, you know,
- 13:24Speaker 1: Conquer Worldwide CEO and founder, when we talk about things
- 13:27Speaker 1: like this, because I'm not. That's the last question I'm
- 13:29Speaker 1: going to ask on that, because I always tell people
- 13:31Speaker 1: give away everything, then people don't. I got all the information.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I don't need to follow up. I want people to research.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I want people to google you and find out your
- 13:37Speaker 1: brand and the vastness of it. Why are you on
- 13:40Speaker 1: this show today?
- 13:41Speaker 3: Well, I love people, and I love seeing people prosper.
- 13:45Speaker 3: What breaks my heart is seeing poor people broken be
- 13:49Speaker 3: fixed poor as a mindset. And when I see people
- 13:53Speaker 3: living below not the probably line, but living below their potential.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Living in potential is frustrating. And when I see guys
- 14:03Speaker 3: on the street, or I see even in corporate America
- 14:06Speaker 3: who are not happy, that breaks my heart because I
- 14:09Speaker 3: believe that every man has a purpose and I learned
- 14:11Speaker 3: that as an orphan. I never met my birth more
- 14:15Speaker 3: than my birth father before. So I was born as
- 14:18Speaker 3: a war of the state of Michigan, and so I
- 14:21Speaker 3: had to climb out of that situation and started with
- 14:23Speaker 3: my mindset. And so when I see people who are
- 14:26Speaker 3: living below their kingship or their queen ship, it seems
- 14:30Speaker 3: like I need to do something. That's why I write books,
- 14:32Speaker 3: That's why I speak so passionately I do business conferences
- 14:35Speaker 3: and I have a finance conference. I'm a finance company.
- 14:39Speaker 3: We have a consulting company as well. So we just
- 14:42Speaker 3: don't give the money. We say, well, here's the one
- 14:43Speaker 3: hundred thousand dollars, but let's turn this on hundred thousand
- 14:46Speaker 3: into three hundred thousand into five hundred thousand into a
- 14:48Speaker 3: million over the next five years. Right, But here's some
- 14:51Speaker 3: seed capital, and we stay with them. We have a
- 14:54Speaker 3: we started betting breakfast is tech companies buyold companies, healthcare companies.
- 15:00Speaker 3: It all started with just a dream. Like most people
- 15:03Speaker 3: come in with bad credit and no money, no experience,
- 15:07Speaker 3: but they have a vision and that thing is more
- 15:09Speaker 3: valuable than anything that is that we can never pay for.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Let me ask you this, doctor Orkins in the military.
- 15:16Speaker 1: You say you found your voice. Okay, when did you
- 15:19Speaker 1: find your vision? Uh?
- 15:22Speaker 3: I got to a place when I was I was
- 15:24Speaker 3: married and my first marriage failed, and it really is
- 15:27Speaker 3: because I didn't know who I was and I got
- 15:31Speaker 3: to a place I was living in holy frustration. I said,
- 15:33Speaker 3: you know what, I have to have a purpose. And
- 15:36Speaker 3: I was selfish and that was it was all about
- 15:38Speaker 3: me and my house and cars, and it's all about
- 15:41Speaker 3: my brand, my company, what I was doing. You know,
- 15:43Speaker 3: I was in Atlanta, and I realized that it's not
- 15:47Speaker 3: a good winging formula. And when I got to the place,
- 15:51Speaker 3: I started losing things. I never foul bunk, bankruptcy or
- 15:55Speaker 3: anything on it, but I lost. I lost a couple
- 15:57Speaker 3: of cars, and house, got under water, and found myself
- 16:01Speaker 3: in divorce court. And I said, you know what, I
- 16:04Speaker 3: created all of this. I'm taking responsibility for who I hurt.
- 16:09Speaker 3: I'm taking responsibility for what I have not done. I'm
- 16:11Speaker 3: taking my responsibility for being a man and who I
- 16:14Speaker 3: am today. And that was the beginning of the shift
- 16:17Speaker 3: for me. And I believe God gave me a vision
- 16:21Speaker 3: of kings and priests, that we're kings and we're priests
- 16:24Speaker 3: where the kings were kings in the marketplace, and we're
- 16:27Speaker 3: priests of our homes. And I started a nonprofit ministry.
- 16:30Speaker 1: That's over seventeen thousand members.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Yeah, we have seventeen thousand men there, and we have
- 16:35Speaker 3: a big conference coming up in June ninth and tenth
- 16:37Speaker 3: in Orlando. And we're kings and priests. We're kings in
- 16:40Speaker 3: the marketplace and the priest of our homes. I wasn't
- 16:43Speaker 3: a good priest of my home. I was paying the bills.
- 16:46Speaker 3: I was a good provider, I wasn't a good priest.
- 16:48Speaker 3: I wasn't impartying. And so this is the message that
- 16:51Speaker 3: I'm trying to take the men, especially that we can
- 16:53Speaker 3: be both at the same time. You can have money,
- 16:56Speaker 3: but you better be sensitive and vulnerable and humble at home.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Be a good father and be a good husband. And
- 17:02Speaker 3: nobody cares about your money. If you're mean all the time,
- 17:05Speaker 3: no one cares about your money, if nobody likes you,
- 17:08Speaker 3: nobody wants to see you at home. And that was
- 17:11Speaker 3: my life. And so I was able to turn things around.
- 17:13Speaker 3: And that's my that's my life mission.
- 17:16Speaker 1: And that in course and it aligns itself. That's your vision,
- 17:20Speaker 1: and it ties to the king and priest, and that's
- 17:23Speaker 1: an event. Tell us more about that event.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Yeah, So June ninth and tenth, it's a Friday and
- 17:28Speaker 3: Saturday in Orlando, Florida. We've got Ron Devaux with one
- 17:31Speaker 3: of our headliners of New Edition. Yeah, it's going to
- 17:34Speaker 3: be there.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Poison.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Well, he loves family, you know, he loves real estate,
- 17:40Speaker 3: and he lives here in Atlanta. I'm sure you know
- 17:42Speaker 3: and so he he loves what we're doing here and
- 17:45Speaker 3: helping men. And we've got some other special guests, but
- 17:48Speaker 3: it's two days of just pure impartation. We got Luther
- 17:52Speaker 3: Ragsdale that that's coming. He's bought sod and managed over
- 17:55Speaker 3: two billion dollars in real estate before age forty right
- 17:58Speaker 3: here in Atlanta as well. He's going to be joining
- 18:00Speaker 3: us talking about wealth and so. But the whole point
- 18:02Speaker 3: is for us to be better men and better fathers,
- 18:05Speaker 3: and better lovers to our wives, and better citizens and
- 18:09Speaker 3: then playing it forward to the next generation.
- 18:12Speaker 1: You know, when I when I think about this relationship
- 18:15Speaker 1: that you and I create, because it's not only information
- 18:17Speaker 1: that we're sharing, but also I think when I sat
- 18:21Speaker 1: down now that I think I know when I wanted
- 18:23Speaker 1: to create money making conversation, which a great conversation. There's
- 18:26Speaker 1: not so much limited to just people think that business
- 18:29Speaker 1: owners or entrepreneurs are a certain type. You can be
- 18:32Speaker 1: an entrepreneur, as a singer, as a dancer. You know,
- 18:36Speaker 1: you know, there's there's so many levels and you have
- 18:38Speaker 1: to because of the way, especially social media. I would
- 18:40Speaker 1: say anybody who has a social media account, it really
- 18:42Speaker 1: is an entrepreneur because they have the ability to market
- 18:45Speaker 1: theirselves and to recognize that they have a brand. Once
- 18:48Speaker 1: you lock on and realize that social media is more
- 18:51Speaker 1: than just posting food and posting pictures that you're going
- 18:53Speaker 1: on vacation, then you have a business that you can
- 18:56Speaker 1: produce and create. Now when I've talked to money, your
- 19:00Speaker 1: money guy, you know you're already corrected, rashat. I think
- 19:03Speaker 1: I've done more than two hundred new business owners. We
- 19:05Speaker 1: include the real estate, it's probably about seven hundred.
- 19:07Speaker 3: So we don't we big that.
- 19:08Speaker 1: So you facilitated financial legacies. Now I have to ask
- 19:11Speaker 1: somebody like you about investments saves. What are we doing that?
- 19:15Speaker 1: Because you hear and I'm not asking you to be
- 19:18Speaker 1: an expert when you say this, but the magic word
- 19:20Speaker 1: that you hear all the time now is crypto.
- 19:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and listen the bad news in this there's
- 19:26Speaker 3: good news and there's bad news. The bad news inflation
- 19:28Speaker 3: is high and interest rates are high. Got it. But
- 19:30Speaker 3: the good news is CD rates for example, annuities are
- 19:33Speaker 3: at an all time fifteen year high. Yes, okay, so
- 19:36Speaker 3: this is means so when you talk about cryptocurrency, and
- 19:40Speaker 3: I will never advise someone to do something that I'm
- 19:42Speaker 3: not doing. But when we talk about compounding interests, you
- 19:45Speaker 3: can take five hundred dollars and put it into an
- 19:47Speaker 3: annuity right now that is averaging three percent per week
- 19:52Speaker 3: if you leave it in there for five years, reinvesting
- 19:56Speaker 3: all the money back into it, just automated. Just put
- 19:58Speaker 3: the five hundred dollars in there, walk away from it
- 20:00Speaker 3: from five years. At the end of five years, that
- 20:03Speaker 3: is one million, eighty eight thousand dollars. You are now
- 20:06Speaker 3: a liquid millionaire. That's true.
- 20:09Speaker 1: We should have started this interview. You shut down my
- 20:12Speaker 1: whole production crew everything, so you talk about five hundred dollars.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Five hundred dollars, okay, five years now. I want people
- 20:19Speaker 3: to fact check me because there's something called a mortgage,
- 20:22Speaker 3: a compound calculator. Go to Google Google compound calculator, follow
- 20:27Speaker 3: me on this and your principal investment five hundred dollars
- 20:32Speaker 3: and then put in three percent per week. That's what
- 20:35Speaker 3: a lot of these annuities are paying now. That's big, okay,
- 20:39Speaker 3: And at the end of five years it's one million,
- 20:42Speaker 3: eighty eight thousand dollars. That is you putting the money
- 20:46Speaker 3: back in right, never taking it right. It just you
- 20:49Speaker 3: just automated, don't even don't even let the money come
- 20:51Speaker 3: to you, just automate it. But fact check me on that,
- 20:54Speaker 3: and now you are a liquid millionaire. And I'm doing this,
- 20:59Speaker 3: my wife is doing it. You know. I got my
- 21:01Speaker 3: youngest daughter, she's a sophomore at Georgia Tech. I got
- 21:05Speaker 3: an annuity for her. So that's the good news in
- 21:08Speaker 3: this economy that people don't want you to.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Know, right, And that's why I have you on the show,
- 21:13Speaker 1: because you know I'm not. I won't ever say I'm
- 21:16Speaker 1: an know it all. I'm just a person who brings
- 21:18Speaker 1: on information. But when I am, when you say something
- 21:21Speaker 1: like that, I love the fact you said, well, fact
- 21:23Speaker 1: check me, you know, because a lot of people won't
- 21:26Speaker 1: allow themselves to be fact checked because they won't and
- 21:28Speaker 1: I won't allow those people to be on the show.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I edit out because what I won't do on this
- 21:31Speaker 1: show is create false hype, a false opportunity.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Right. That's why I don't want to say the names
- 21:36Speaker 3: of what I'm invested in. Just just you can google
- 21:39Speaker 3: me and if you call my office, we'd be glad
- 21:41Speaker 3: to share that with you.
- 21:42Speaker 1: But what is that office? Tell us how we can
- 21:44Speaker 1: get into such a.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Concer worldwide dot Com, Concer worldwide dot com, Acker worldwide
- 21:49Speaker 3: dot Com, c O n q U e R worldwide
- 21:51Speaker 3: dot com or we have a great staff. They can
- 21:54Speaker 3: call us at eight eight eight five two six one
- 21:56Speaker 3: one one eight. And of course I'm all over social media.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Robert Jay Watkins.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Cool. It was I was reading through some things with
- 22:05Speaker 1: you and it was like, it's a title called my eye,
- 22:09Speaker 1: how to build a Team with No Money. You know
- 22:13Speaker 1: the reason I brought up because all we've been talking
- 22:14Speaker 1: about is money, and then I saw that title said
- 22:17Speaker 1: how to build a team with no money. Now when
- 22:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna just stop right there and allow you to
- 22:23Speaker 1: start educate me on that philosophy.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Well, you know, the new currency is relationships. That's why
- 22:31Speaker 3: I believe God pushed us together. That's the new currency. Right,
- 22:34Speaker 3: the economy is going to get worse, and so you're
- 22:37Speaker 3: you're you're only gonna go as far as the people
- 22:39Speaker 3: that are around you financially speaking. And so how do
- 22:42Speaker 3: you build a new team? How do you build a
- 22:43Speaker 3: team with no money? First of all, you got to
- 22:45Speaker 3: have a compelling vision. You got to have something that
- 22:47Speaker 3: people want to be a part of, Right, That's what
- 22:49Speaker 3: the dot com that Eric taught us is that you
- 22:52Speaker 3: create something nobody heard of, uber eats or even zoom,
- 22:56Speaker 3: you know, until the pandemic hit. And when this next
- 22:59Speaker 3: recession comes, which is going to be really, really mild,
- 23:01Speaker 3: we're going to see new invention. It's gonna be a
- 23:03Speaker 3: new Instagram that comes up. Somebody's working in the garage
- 23:06Speaker 3: right now, they're going to come to the table. So
- 23:07Speaker 3: number one, have a compelling vision. The number two what
- 23:10Speaker 3: is your value popposition? Right? How are you adding value
- 23:13Speaker 3: to people, to people's lives. You're making them healthier, making
- 23:17Speaker 3: them wealthier, making them skinnier. What are you doing that
- 23:20Speaker 3: has to be key? And people want to be a
- 23:22Speaker 3: part of that. You know. I love what the what
- 23:25Speaker 3: the Bible says about that that where there is no vision,
- 23:28Speaker 3: the people perish. And so you got to be able
- 23:30Speaker 3: to cast visions. So when I go online, I'm casting
- 23:33Speaker 3: vision because people need vision. And then number three, have
- 23:37Speaker 3: a funnel, a tool, a place where people can come
- 23:40Speaker 3: and connect to and we just do those three things,
- 23:43Speaker 3: you'll be on your way to having a really good
- 23:45Speaker 3: smart team. And then college students are everywhere, they all
- 23:48Speaker 3: need experience. So there's nothing wrong with even if you're
- 23:52Speaker 3: a startup, just to share your knowledge with a college
- 23:55Speaker 3: student and let them be an intern.
- 23:57Speaker 1: There's two things as we wrap up, I'm speaking to
- 23:59Speaker 1: doctor Robert Watkins, uh CEO and founder Conquer Worldwide. If
- 24:03Speaker 1: you want to follow them up the information the website
- 24:05Speaker 1: worce wide dot com. Conquerworldwide dot com. You also have
- 24:08Speaker 1: a conference June ninth.
- 24:09Speaker 3: June ninth and tenth in Orlando called Kings and Priests
- 24:11Speaker 3: for men only for me, they can go to Kingsinc.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Dot com. Okay, fear stops a lot of people, men
- 24:19Speaker 1: and women of all color. Doubt stops and regret stops them.
- 24:26Speaker 1: What what what of those things? Fear, doubt, regret? How
- 24:31Speaker 1: do you overcome and don't allow that to be uh
- 24:36Speaker 1: limit your dreams?
- 24:37Speaker 3: Well, first of all, bring awareness that you are those
- 24:41Speaker 3: things I know as men. It's not we were not
- 24:43Speaker 3: taught to say, man, I'm afraid. We were not taught
- 24:46Speaker 3: to say, you know those I'm scared. But when you
- 24:49Speaker 3: bring awareness to that, man, this is I mean the
- 24:51Speaker 3: first you know building and I bought on an office building.
- 24:54Speaker 3: They say they're not going to let me do this.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I was so afraid, but once I understood the process.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Wait a minute, I bought a house before. This is easy, right, Well,
- 25:03Speaker 3: we am I going to get the money? We am
- 25:05Speaker 3: I gonna get to twenty percent down payment? We're not
- 25:06Speaker 3: going to get the million dollars? Well, how many people
- 25:08Speaker 3: do I know? I think I know about twenty five people.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Can I get half of those people to believe in
- 25:14Speaker 3: this vision? And before you know it, I had the
- 25:16Speaker 3: money and before you know it, I was at the
- 25:18Speaker 3: closing table. But it took five years of fear. So
- 25:22Speaker 3: I could have did this a long time ago, but
- 25:25Speaker 3: I had to first of all realize, Man, I'm just scared, right, right.
- 25:29Speaker 3: And when a person comes to that realization, then a
- 25:32Speaker 3: shift can happen and now his heart can say it's
- 25:36Speaker 3: time to overcome this. Right, And the field of failure
- 25:39Speaker 3: is very real to a lot of people. So you
- 25:42Speaker 3: got to put yourself out there and just know that
- 25:44Speaker 3: if I fail, I fail. But I never really fail.
- 25:47Speaker 3: I just learned an expensive lesson right for the next level.
- 25:51Speaker 1: As we close here, I'm gonna ask this because everybody
- 25:54Speaker 1: needs to hear this. Talking to doctor Robert Watkins, what
- 25:57Speaker 1: is your frie as free strategy? To help everyday people
- 26:02Speaker 1: get out of debt.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Well, well, number one, you know, stop making new debt.
- 26:07Speaker 3: You know, that's that's number one. Number two, here's what
- 26:10Speaker 3: I will you.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Stop making new dere What's that is that?
- 26:13Speaker 3: Netflix? Is that what?
- 26:15Speaker 1: Buying a car? You shouldn't have?
- 26:16Speaker 3: Well, start with the credit cards, you know how, you know,
- 26:19Speaker 3: here's get over the fear and cut up that credit card.
- 26:21Speaker 3: That takes a lot of faith to say I'm cutting
- 26:23Speaker 3: up this credit card. And when you do that, if
- 26:26Speaker 3: you say I'm gonna have I'm gonna go on a
- 26:28Speaker 3: credit card fast. I'm not gonna use any plastic, including
- 26:32Speaker 3: my debit card. You mentioned about the thirty day, sixty day,
- 26:35Speaker 3: ninety day for ninety days, I'm not using any plastic.
- 26:39Speaker 3: I'm not using plastic cups. That's how. That's how cool
- 26:42Speaker 3: and committed I am. But that's that's number one getting
- 26:45Speaker 3: out of debt. Number two. If you have a credit
- 26:48Speaker 3: card amount, say it's one thousand dollars, and you have
- 26:53Speaker 3: one thousand dollars in a savings account, take the thousand
- 26:56Speaker 3: dollars dollar of the savings account and pay off the
- 26:58Speaker 3: credit card. Now, a lot of people don't like to
- 27:00Speaker 3: do that because we like to see our money online.
- 27:02Speaker 3: We like to look at it and stare at it.
- 27:04Speaker 3: And I'm the same way. I like to go online
- 27:06Speaker 3: and see Okay, I'm good, right, But the credit card
- 27:12Speaker 3: is that fifteen seventeen percent interest rate. I'm making point
- 27:16Speaker 3: five zero five percent interest on my thousand dollars in
- 27:19Speaker 3: the same as account. So take that out and pay
- 27:23Speaker 3: off the credit card. A lot of us don't like
- 27:25Speaker 3: to do that, but that would be on your way
- 27:26Speaker 3: to becoming that free.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Well, you know, we don't because we don't know. Let
- 27:30Speaker 1: me just tell you that now we don't know. And
- 27:33Speaker 1: it's really interesting. I'm one of those common sense guys,
- 27:36Speaker 1: and it's always good to hear an expert tell you
- 27:39Speaker 1: you're doing something, because I've been doing that probably last year,
- 27:42Speaker 1: spending more cash than credit card. And you know, because
- 27:45Speaker 1: I love having cash, you know, love having have their pocket, right,
- 27:50Speaker 1: But then I'm spending a credit card, but keep packing
- 27:53Speaker 1: my pocket.
- 27:53Speaker 3: I made some money.
- 27:54Speaker 1: But I realized, sid, why don't you go ahead when
- 27:57Speaker 1: you go to chick for like, go ahead and pay cash.
- 28:00Speaker 1: It's a big trick move going on out there because
- 28:02Speaker 1: a lot of people don't want to take cash no more.
- 28:04Speaker 3: Well, you know what's happening in China and Russia. So
- 28:07Speaker 3: they just came together. I won't go too deep in
- 28:09Speaker 3: the woods here, but they just partnered. And the first
- 28:11Speaker 3: thing they did was devalue the dollar. Essentially, they trashed
- 28:14Speaker 3: the dollar. They devalued it, and that was an economic move.
- 28:19Speaker 3: That was a war on America. So in the country,
- 28:23Speaker 3: dollars are still king. Outside the country, it's not gonna
- 28:26Speaker 3: be worth anything. So we got to be a little
- 28:29Speaker 3: bit smarter because they're already we're talking about digital economics
- 28:33Speaker 3: and cryptocurrency. They're twenty years ahead of us.
- 28:36Speaker 1: So how should I feel if I'm a guy trying
- 28:40Speaker 1: to lure my debt, trying to get rid of my
- 28:42Speaker 1: credit card debt, and I'm going to these restaurants and
- 28:46Speaker 1: these places they go we don't take cash. Should I
- 28:49Speaker 1: be mad at that? Or should I stop supporting these
- 28:52Speaker 1: type of businesses, or just understand that's the world we're
- 28:55Speaker 1: living in now.
- 28:56Speaker 3: Well that's the world that's becoming. And when it comes
- 28:58Speaker 3: back to credit for a second, is if I don't
- 29:01Speaker 3: have the money in my account, I'm not pulling out
- 29:04Speaker 3: my credit card, right, Okay, I took my daughter to
- 29:08Speaker 3: Ruth Chris Chris Steakhouse till the day. And so the
- 29:12Speaker 3: bill was, you know, a couple hundred dollars. So I
- 29:15Speaker 3: pull out my credit card because I have two hudred
- 29:16Speaker 3: dollars in an account. But if I didn't have the
- 29:18Speaker 3: twentndred dollars in account, I need to take cre to McDonald's.
- 29:21Speaker 3: You see what I'm saying. So I have to be
- 29:24Speaker 3: real about my situation. But there's coming a time in America,
- 29:28Speaker 3: if you can imagine this, where the dollar will not
- 29:31Speaker 3: be received. Everything is going to one digital currency. And
- 29:35Speaker 3: the move that China and Russia made last Thursday was
- 29:39Speaker 3: the beginning of that.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Wow, we're speaking to you as I closed it fantastic.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Give us the information about how to reach you and
- 29:46Speaker 1: also information about the event that's going on in Orlando.
- 29:49Speaker 3: Yeah, Conquer worldwide, con q u e R worldwide dot com.
- 29:53Speaker 3: You see all of our services. We got a great staff.
- 29:56Speaker 3: We do financing, we do business advisement, we do some
- 29:59Speaker 3: big business planning, but we wanted our tagline is to
- 30:02Speaker 3: grow your small business into a big business. Uh call
- 30:05Speaker 3: us eight hundred eight five two six one one one
- 30:08Speaker 3: eight and we're all over social media at Robert J.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Watkins, thank you for coming on Money Making Conversation. You
- 30:14Speaker 1: fantastic appreciate it.
