- 0:00Speaker 1: Inflation is at forty year highs gas has doubled since
- 0:05Speaker 1: Joe Biden took office. Drag queens are dancing for little
- 0:09Speaker 1: kids at gay bars in Dallas. Crime is through the
- 0:13Speaker 1: roof in cities around the country. People are pushing back
- 0:18Speaker 1: against the Democrats who are running all of these things.
- 0:22Speaker 1: But what's worthy of note here is that it's not
- 0:25Speaker 1: just us pushing back. It's not just the Conservatives and
- 0:28Speaker 1: the Republicans. On issue after issue, city after city, all
- 0:32Speaker 1: the way up to the federal level. You've got Democrats
- 0:35Speaker 1: pushing back against the Democrat ruling class as they see
- 0:38Speaker 1: them headed for disaster in the elections. This is Verdict
- 0:42Speaker 1: with Ted Cruz. This episode A Verdict with Ted Cruze
- 0:52Speaker 1: is brought to you by Matt Walsh's new film, the
- 0:54Speaker 1: New Daily Wire documentary What Is a Woman. I've been
- 0:57Speaker 1: waiting for this film since the day Matt announced it,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and it does not disappoint. Radical gender ideology is corrupting
- 1:04Speaker 1: our nation right now. It's seeping into our children's classrooms
- 1:07Speaker 1: as young as kindergarten and preschool. It's even poisoned corporate culture.
- 1:11Speaker 1: We see Disney and their queerness agenda that they're inserting
- 1:15Speaker 1: into their children's programming. This has become a cultural phenomenon
- 1:18Speaker 1: that is assaulting women, that is trying to erase biological women.
- 1:22Speaker 1: And so Matt Walsh is fighting this fight. He goes
- 1:24Speaker 1: on a global on a world tour, asking a very
- 1:28Speaker 1: simple question, what is a woman. And fortunately he took
- 1:32Speaker 1: a film crew with him, so we all get to
- 1:33Speaker 1: come on this journey with him, and you will be
- 1:35Speaker 1: shocked to hear how many people can't answer what you
- 1:38Speaker 1: would think is a very simple question, or they have
- 1:40Speaker 1: a very warped, twisted idea of what a woman is.
- 1:43Speaker 1: The leftist in this film actually admit to Matt Walsh
- 1:45Speaker 1: what their ulterior motive is, what their underlying agenda is.
- 1:49Speaker 1: You will laugh, you will cry, you will scream, probably
- 1:51Speaker 1: all at once. I highly recommend this film. It's available
- 1:54Speaker 1: for Daily Wire subscribers only. Go to what is a

- 4:30Speaker 1: with Ted Cruz. There is so much to get to,
- 4:33Speaker 1: Senator that I need your thoughts on. But before I
- 4:35Speaker 1: get to any of that, did I see you on
- 4:38Speaker 1: TV playing poker with some of the best poker players
- 4:42Speaker 1: in the world. EU did, and it was one of
- 4:45Speaker 1: the coolest things ever. I played in Poker after Dark,
- 4:49Speaker 1: so I will say I was like Doyle and Phil
- 4:52Speaker 1: I was giddy about. I was like, this was a
- 4:56Speaker 1: bucket list thing. I told my daughters we were fourteen
- 5:00Speaker 1: and eleven, and they're like, yeah, yeah, whatever, okay, some
- 5:03Speaker 1: poker players, What's what's the big deal? I told them
- 5:06Speaker 1: mister Beast is going to be there, and my girls
- 5:09Speaker 1: lost their minds, like mister be Like, so both girls
- 5:14Speaker 1: flew to Vegas to meet mister Beast. I mean, I mean,
- 5:18Speaker 1: it was. Look being in the Senate, it's hard to
- 5:22Speaker 1: do anything that seems remotely cool to a fourteen year
- 5:26Speaker 1: old or an eleven year old, especially a fourteen year old,
- 5:29Speaker 1: but for them to meet mister Beast, they thought it
- 5:32Speaker 1: was the coolest thing ever. And so I played poker.
- 5:35Speaker 1: They put out the first episode, so the game we
- 5:38Speaker 1: played for a couple hours. They chopped it into three episodes,
- 5:41Speaker 1: so part one has come out already, but there'll be
- 5:44Speaker 1: two more parts. And it was it was pretty awesome. Well,
- 5:47Speaker 1: I am glad that you could be a cool guy
- 5:49Speaker 1: now for your daughters. That's always it's always something you
- 5:51Speaker 1: strive for as a parent. You want to seem like
- 5:53Speaker 1: a cool guy. I do have this question on poker, though,
- 5:56Speaker 1: which is I know you love poker. There have been
- 6:00Speaker 1: another a number of other politicians and statesmen who have
- 6:04Speaker 1: famously loved poker. Is there something is there something about
- 6:10Speaker 1: poker that just speaks to a political kind of spirit?
- 6:13Speaker 1: What is it about poker that draws you to it?
- 6:15Speaker 1: Because you're not You're not the first guy I've I've
- 6:18Speaker 1: known who who is so into it. So poker is
- 6:21Speaker 1: people um, and it's it's it's interesting you know you
- 6:27Speaker 1: look at so you play poker, Poker is math. It's
- 6:32Speaker 1: knowing what the odds are. It's knowing what cards you
- 6:34Speaker 1: have and what are the odds and how many outs
- 6:36Speaker 1: you have, And the math is important. But what I
- 6:39Speaker 1: like about poker is it's reading people and it's trying
- 6:42Speaker 1: to understand the person sitting across the table from you.
- 6:45Speaker 1: What do they have? Are they telling you the truth
- 6:48Speaker 1: or lying? Are they bluffing? Um? And it's so I've
- 6:53Speaker 1: got a number of really close friends who enjoy playing poker,
- 6:56Speaker 1: and we played poker for years, and and one of
- 6:58Speaker 1: my closest friends, the guy who was a grown him
- 7:00Speaker 1: my wedding, is a semi professional poker player and he's
- 7:03Speaker 1: played multiple times in the World Series. He's actually made
- 7:06Speaker 1: a final table at the World Series, not in the
- 7:09Speaker 1: main event, but I think the two thousand Texas hold
- 7:11Speaker 1: him event. And he and I have played a gazillion times,
- 7:15Speaker 1: and we both He's beaten me a bunch of times,
- 7:18Speaker 1: I've beaten him a bunch of times. We've spent a
- 7:21Speaker 1: lot of hours around the poker table. What's interesting is
- 7:25Speaker 1: that he is, in terms of the math, clearly a
- 7:30Speaker 1: better poker player. Than I am. I can do the math,
- 7:32Speaker 1: but I don't study it to the level of know
- 7:35Speaker 1: it to the precision that he does. I spend much
- 7:38Speaker 1: more time reading the players, and so we'll have hands
- 7:43Speaker 1: where I'll beat him and it'll be like, what the
- 7:45Speaker 1: hell were you doing? That made no sense? Why would
- 7:47Speaker 1: you call me there? And I answer it because you
- 7:50Speaker 1: didn't want me to. It may not have it may
- 7:56Speaker 1: not have made sense. If you'd had the cards, it
- 7:58Speaker 1: would have been a terrible call. But I knew you
- 8:01Speaker 1: didn't want me to. You wanted me to lay down
- 8:03Speaker 1: my cards, which is why I called you, which is
- 8:05Speaker 1: why I took your damn money. So hand me your
- 8:07Speaker 1: chips and look. Sometimes you get the read wrong, sometimes
- 8:12Speaker 1: you don't. You know, you think you know what's and
- 8:15Speaker 1: obviously that's part of what makes poker fun, is projecting weakness,
- 8:19Speaker 1: projecting you know you're trying to fool the other players.
- 8:27Speaker 1: But it's I grew up, Actually I learned to play
- 8:31Speaker 1: poker's a little kid. My grandmother, my mother's mother, Irish
- 8:39Speaker 1: Italian grandmother, great card player. She played bridge every week
- 8:44Speaker 1: for probably seventy years. But she would would baby sit
- 8:49Speaker 1: me when I was a little kid. When I was
- 8:51Speaker 1: eight ten years old, my parents would drop me off
- 8:54Speaker 1: at my grandparents for them to babysit me. And my
- 8:57Speaker 1: grandmother would sit down and taught me to play poker.
- 9:00Speaker 1: And she had a medal ten of buttons, and we
- 9:03Speaker 1: would play with buttons as chips, and some of the
- 9:07Speaker 1: buttons were costume jewelry and it was like fake diamonds.
- 9:09Speaker 1: So I'd like take the fake diamond and say one
- 9:11Speaker 1: million dollars, and I just you know, make up whatever
- 9:13Speaker 1: it was, you know, if they looked fancy and we're glittery,
- 9:17Speaker 1: and I always would win. As a little kid, I
- 9:20Speaker 1: would win and I would win and I would win,
- 9:22Speaker 1: and I felt pretty good about myself. And when I
- 9:25Speaker 1: was I don't know, about ten years old, I came
- 9:27Speaker 1: and said, hey, granny, let's play for real money. And
- 9:31Speaker 1: she said, okay, sure, And I had five dollars, which
- 9:35Speaker 1: five dollars at the time, my allowance was fifty cents
- 9:38Speaker 1: a week, so that was ten weeks allowance that I had.
- 9:42Speaker 1: And I sat down and played with her, and she
- 9:45Speaker 1: took every penny from me. She wiped me out. My
- 9:48Speaker 1: mom came to pick me up, and I was crying.
- 9:51Speaker 1: As a ten year old. I was in tears, and
- 9:53Speaker 1: my grandmother's just cracking up laughing. You know what Irish
- 9:57Speaker 1: Italian grandmother said, gone home, Sonny, Well, welcome to the
- 10:00Speaker 1: big leagues. Two and a half months pay that that's
- 10:04Speaker 1: pretty tought. It got your attention that well, Okay, that
- 10:11Speaker 1: actually makes sense to me because I have heard people
- 10:14Speaker 1: describe this to me that poker it's not really about
- 10:17Speaker 1: the cards. It's not really as you say, about the numbers.
- 10:19Speaker 1: It's it can be about money, can be about how
- 10:21Speaker 1: people relate to money and risk and threat, and it's
- 10:24Speaker 1: really it's really about people. It's about people reading other people.
- 10:28Speaker 1: So this actually leads us perfectly into what I really
- 10:31Speaker 1: want to talk about today, which is the Democrats who
- 10:35Speaker 1: are in power seem to be completely misreading the situation.
- 10:41Speaker 1: You've got three huge they've You've got a lot of blunders,
- 10:44Speaker 1: but as I can see it, three really really big,
- 10:47Speaker 1: prominent blunders they're making right now on the economic front.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Not only have they made a lot of poor economic
- 10:54Speaker 1: decisions that have hurt the country and certainly their political position,
- 10:57Speaker 1: but they're not backing away from them. They're they're doubling down.
- 11:00Speaker 1: When it comes to energy, they're doubling down when it
- 11:02Speaker 1: comes to so many aspects of the economy. On the
- 11:05Speaker 1: cultural social issues, they're defending drag queens, jiggling for kids,
- 11:10Speaker 1: actual little tiny children in bars twenty one plus bars
- 11:14Speaker 1: in Texas of all places, they're defending it. And then
- 11:18Speaker 1: they're they're coming on crime. They're they're still so weak
- 11:23Speaker 1: on crime. The das the mayors that you're seeing real
- 11:27Speaker 1: significant challenges from the right in San Francisco. You've got
- 11:30Speaker 1: a recall of the district attorney. In Los Angeles, now
- 11:33Speaker 1: you've got a big fight for the mayor and a
- 11:35Speaker 1: sort of kind of Republican is posing a big challenge.
- 11:39Speaker 1: What the hell are the Democrats thinking? You know, Michael,
- 11:43Speaker 1: it reminds me of do you remember those videos that
- 11:45Speaker 1: would come out every Spring break, Girls Gone Wild, and
- 11:48Speaker 1: it would have lots of college women in bikinis or
- 11:52Speaker 1: not bikinis. It reminds me of much the same thing.
- 11:57Speaker 1: This is liberals gone wild, This is the craze left
- 12:01Speaker 1: that this is AOC and Elizabeth Warren, thank god, not
- 12:04Speaker 1: in bikinis, but embracing their socialist nuttiness. I mean, it's
- 12:13Speaker 1: literally like someone sat down at a bar and said,
- 12:16Speaker 1: how much crazy crap can we do? Like, how far
- 12:20Speaker 1: can we go to drive away not just the conservatives
- 12:24Speaker 1: that's a given, not even just the moderate, it's not
- 12:27Speaker 1: even just the independence, but what can we do to
- 12:31Speaker 1: drive away good old fashioned liberals who are not nuts?
- 12:36Speaker 1: I do want to clarify Senator just on the girls
- 12:38Speaker 1: going wild point, I only ever watched that for the articles.
- 12:41Speaker 1: You know, I was just stalling, obviously, but I totally see.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I think the analogy is very good that they've gone
- 12:48Speaker 1: to extremes and followed their own wildest impulses. So what
- 12:54Speaker 1: what is going to happen to them in these these
- 12:56Speaker 1: elections that are really coming up right before us? Now
- 12:59Speaker 1: you're looking Los Angeles, you're looking at the recall in
- 13:01Speaker 1: San Francisco. It's not Republicans recalling these guys. It's not
- 13:05Speaker 1: Republicans who are who are going to be voting primarily
- 13:08Speaker 1: in the LA elections. So what are the elected Democrats
- 13:12Speaker 1: gonna do? Are they gonna moderate or they're gonna get
- 13:13Speaker 1: wiped out? So I don't know what they're gonna do
- 13:18Speaker 1: this week, but I know what they're going to do
- 13:20Speaker 1: in November. They're gonna get obliterated. November. It is going
- 13:23Speaker 1: to be an historic election. It's every issue is so extreme. Look,
- 13:30Speaker 1: there are people Bill Maher. Bill Maher is an old
- 13:32Speaker 1: school liberal who they are driving away Elon Musk. Elon
- 13:37Speaker 1: Musk has been a Democrat his whole life. They are
- 13:39Speaker 1: driving him away where he said, Okay, I'm voting Republican now.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Because these guys are nuts, and you think about it,
- 13:46Speaker 1: all right, let's take the drag queen thing. Like, listen,
- 13:50Speaker 1: this is not about homosexuality. It's not even about transgenderism.
- 13:56Speaker 1: If you want to if consenting a doll want to
- 14:00Speaker 1: do it, consenting adults want to do fine, knock yourself out,
- 14:04Speaker 1: but leave the kids alone. I mean, this is not
- 14:07Speaker 1: rocket science. Listen. If if you had straight women who
- 14:14Speaker 1: were strippers and you had five year olds tucking dollars
- 14:18Speaker 1: in their g strings, you and I would be appalled
- 14:21Speaker 1: because kids have no business being sexualized. And it's where Look,
- 14:28Speaker 1: this is the radical extreme left that they want to
- 14:32Speaker 1: sexualize little kids. So they're in this gay bar. They've
- 14:38Speaker 1: got transgender drag queens where they're tucking dollars in their
- 14:43Speaker 1: g strings and these are little kids, like what it's
- 14:47Speaker 1: it's the whole you know the misname don't say gay
- 14:51Speaker 1: law in Florida? What is it with the radical left
- 14:55Speaker 1: wanting to teach kindergarteners about sex? Gay sex, straight sex?
- 14:58Speaker 1: How about just no se x for five year olds?
- 15:01Speaker 1: That ought to be a really simple rule that only
- 15:05Speaker 1: the crazy left doesn't get. Well. You make a really
- 15:08Speaker 1: interesting point here too on strip clubs. If if instead
- 15:13Speaker 1: of the gay bar with the drag queens wearing skimpy
- 15:17Speaker 1: clothing and have kids putting dollars in their various uh,
- 15:21Speaker 1: scantily attire, you know, scanty attire, if instead of that
- 15:27Speaker 1: you had kids walking into a plain, old, regular strip
- 15:30Speaker 1: club with real women there jiggling around, you would have
- 15:33Speaker 1: people calling child protective services in the blink of an
- 15:36Speaker 1: eye as well they should, so, I guess in a
- 15:39Speaker 1: in a certain way, it does have a tie in
- 15:42Speaker 1: with the LGBT movement inasmuch as there's a complete double
- 15:47Speaker 1: standard here, and when it's drag queens doing it, it's
- 15:50Speaker 1: celebrated in the parents are taking the kids themselves. I
- 15:54Speaker 1: think how crazy this is that this is parents taking
- 15:57Speaker 1: their kids to this look like look, we've discussed how
- 16:03Speaker 1: our culture has just become twisted like protecting the innocence
- 16:10Speaker 1: of kids ought to be something everyone can agree with,
- 16:14Speaker 1: and it's it's where you're saying, or you know, I mean,
- 16:17Speaker 1: let's look at the fact that the DA in San
- 16:21Speaker 1: Francisco is facing a recall chessa bodine or chisard. I'm
- 16:25Speaker 1: not sure how you pronounce it, never know how to
- 16:26Speaker 1: pronounce it. Yeah, but he's the son of two radical
- 16:31Speaker 1: weather underground terrorists who were convicted of terrorist bombing, like
- 16:37Speaker 1: like literally the DA was raised by convicted terrorists, and
- 16:44Speaker 1: he's one of the many George Soros das that got
- 16:47Speaker 1: elected and decided I've got a great idea, let's not
- 16:51Speaker 1: prosecute criminals. Let's let violent criminals go. Isn't this a
- 16:54Speaker 1: wonderful idea? If we let violent criminals go, will be
- 16:57Speaker 1: so enlightened. And even the people of San Francisco are saying,
- 17:01Speaker 1: what the hell are you doing? Like we're liberals, we're
- 17:06Speaker 1: all four ninety percent tax rates or whatever it is
- 17:09Speaker 1: that they're for, but could you not let murderers like
- 17:12Speaker 1: wander the streets? Well, Democrats see that there's that issue, right,
- 17:16Speaker 1: So it's not you know, it's not just the Republicans.
- 17:18Speaker 1: It's not just the moderates Democrats are waking up to this.
- 17:21Speaker 1: But I do wonder if it's if it's not just
- 17:25Speaker 1: that the liberals have gone totally crazy. I mean, maybe
- 17:28Speaker 1: they already work crazy. But you saw many decades ago
- 17:31Speaker 1: you would see liberal leftist radical theorists writing about all
- 17:36Speaker 1: these things, how in order to have true revolutionary change
- 17:40Speaker 1: in America, we need to abolish the police, we need
- 17:42Speaker 1: to radically redesign the prison systems. They would talk about
- 17:45Speaker 1: how we need to sexualize children in order to get
- 17:48Speaker 1: rid of all of their old, stodgy traditional prejudices about sex.
- 17:52Speaker 1: For goodness sakes, Bernie Sanders wrote essays about this in
- 17:55Speaker 1: the nineteen sixties. Even on the economy, you've had not
- 17:59Speaker 1: just the radical theory, but Barack Obama, even members of
- 18:02Speaker 1: the Obama administration saying, we need to increase prices for
- 18:06Speaker 1: fossil fuels. We need to create actually some economic hardship,
- 18:10Speaker 1: because that's the only thing that's going to motivate people
- 18:12Speaker 1: to go in and finally revolutionize the economy. You've seen
- 18:16Speaker 1: them talking about this stuff in a way that shows
- 18:19Speaker 1: their long term political goals, which is, to quote Barack
- 18:23Speaker 1: Obama to fundamentally transform America. And I guess I wonder
- 18:27Speaker 1: if what you're seeing right now is that those long
- 18:29Speaker 1: term goals are just Democrats getting out a little ahead
- 18:32Speaker 1: of their skis here, and there's so much short term
- 18:35Speaker 1: pain and confusion that maybe that their own constituents are
- 18:39Speaker 1: going to say no. So, Michael, I'm sorry. I'm still
- 18:43Speaker 1: traumatized because about halfway through what you said there, you
- 18:46Speaker 1: invoked Bernie Sanders and sex. And that's just an image
- 18:50Speaker 1: I don't need to see. I've got to walk off
- 18:52Speaker 1: the Senate floor and see him with his white hair
- 18:54Speaker 1: sticking straight up in the air, and I just don't
- 18:56Speaker 1: need to That's an image I could have avoid. Look,
- 19:03Speaker 1: it is all right, let's take gas prices. It is
- 19:07Speaker 1: truly amazing watching the corporate press try to bend over
- 19:13Speaker 1: backwards to say, none of this is Biden's fault, It's
- 19:16Speaker 1: Putin's fault, it's global markets. Is this it is that?
- 19:18Speaker 1: It's the other Biden literally campaign saying I'm going to
- 19:22Speaker 1: shut down oil and gas drilling in the United States.
- 19:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna shut it down on federal lands, I'm gonna
- 19:26Speaker 1: shut it down, I'm shore the Green New Deal, I'm
- 19:28Speaker 1: going to embrace. Biden has implemented literally dozens of policies
- 19:35Speaker 1: designed to attack, to hurt, to shut down domestic energy
- 19:41Speaker 1: production in the United States. He's done it over and
- 19:43Speaker 1: over and over and over again. So he promised he
- 19:46Speaker 1: would do it. He's followed through on that promise, and
- 19:50Speaker 1: the predicted effect of that is prices have doubled. And
- 19:54Speaker 1: by the way, the socialists want prices to double, because
- 19:58Speaker 1: what they're saying is, you, Joe sixpack, make the decision.
- 20:04Speaker 1: We don't like you drive a pickup truck. Mom. Maybe
- 20:07Speaker 1: you drive a suburban, maybe you drive a minivan. And
- 20:09Speaker 1: here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna make your life
- 20:12Speaker 1: so miserable that you have to spend one hundred bucks
- 20:14Speaker 1: or one hundred and fifty bucks to fill up your
- 20:16Speaker 1: car a truck that you're going to get rid of
- 20:18Speaker 1: it and buy a Prius, which is what we want
- 20:21Speaker 1: you to do. And so we're going to keep hurting
- 20:24Speaker 1: you until you make the enlightened decision that we your
- 20:29Speaker 1: betters do. By the way, this past week, I don't
- 20:32Speaker 1: know if you saw, the EU is putting taxes on fuel,
- 20:37Speaker 1: on jet fuel, but they exempted private jets because of
- 20:42Speaker 1: course they did. This is called the John Kerry exception.
- 20:46Speaker 1: These guys are mister Burns. They are wealthy, out of touch,
- 20:51Speaker 1: living in opulent riches. But then when they do what
- 20:59Speaker 1: they promised they would do, implement policies to hurt domestic
- 21:04Speaker 1: energy production, to drive gas prices up, suddenly they discover
- 21:08Speaker 1: weight people don't like spending one hundred and fifty bucks
- 21:11Speaker 1: to fill up their truck, right, And then they just
- 21:15Speaker 1: try to blatant lead light to you. I'm really hoping
- 21:18Speaker 1: that you know now the people are kind of people
- 21:23Speaker 1: of all parties actually are pulling the radicals back from
- 21:25Speaker 1: the brink. But I wonder if the radicals and the
- 21:29Speaker 1: people who have been in charge have secured those kind
- 21:32Speaker 1: of longer term victories. I look this past week at
- 21:36Speaker 1: Joe Biden invoking the Defense Production Act because there is
- 21:39Speaker 1: this energy crisis. Energy costs have gone through the roof.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Gas has doubled since the man's been president. And so
- 21:46Speaker 1: what does he do. Does he invoke that provision of
- 21:49Speaker 1: the law or some other provision to open up oil drilling, No,
- 21:53Speaker 1: to I don't know, create a new nuclear powers. No,
- 21:56Speaker 1: what is he doing? It's it's to produce solar panels.
- 21:59Speaker 1: It's to give the left what they've wanted for a
- 22:02Speaker 1: long time that I don't see any way will actually
- 22:05Speaker 1: bring down an energy costs, certainly not anytime soon. One,
- 22:08Speaker 1: how does he do that? The White House hasn't explained
- 22:10Speaker 1: what emergency he's responding to that requires solar panels. But two,
- 22:16Speaker 1: are they getting what they want? Are they? Are they
- 22:18Speaker 1: as we've heard from from which I forget the name
- 22:23Speaker 1: of the Emmanuel brother there's Ari, and there's Zeke, and
- 22:26Speaker 1: there's the one that I'm talking about. Gosh, I can't
- 22:31Speaker 1: believe his name escapes me. But you know, one of
- 22:32Speaker 1: the one of the worst Democrats you know in modern politics.
- 22:36Speaker 1: You know, never to let a crisis go to a
- 22:41Speaker 1: rom There we go. I can't believe I forgot the
- 22:43Speaker 1: most famous of the Emmanuel brothers names. I remember the
- 22:45Speaker 1: Hollywood one and the doctor one, but not rom saying
- 22:48Speaker 1: never let a crisis go to waste? Are they even
- 22:52Speaker 1: as they're losing support even among their own guys right now?
- 22:54Speaker 1: Are they? Are they scoring those long term political wins?
- 22:58Speaker 1: So I actually think there are some voices among Democrats,
- 23:02Speaker 1: and it wouldn't surprise me if Emmanuel is one of
- 23:05Speaker 1: them that is wondering, what in the hell are you
- 23:07Speaker 1: people doing? They're people like James Carville, who listen. James
- 23:11Speaker 1: Carville is smart as all get out. He's one of
- 23:13Speaker 1: the most effective Democrats. You know Mary Madelin, his wife,
- 23:18Speaker 1: Mary as a friend. She's been a supporter of mine.
- 23:20Speaker 1: So I've been to Mary and James's home, and he's
- 23:23Speaker 1: he is an effective adversary. He's a Democrat, but he
- 23:26Speaker 1: actually gets he's not nuts, and he's looking at his
- 23:31Speaker 1: own party and it's like, Okay, you people are are
- 23:34Speaker 1: you trying to lose every congressional race in America? I mean,
- 23:37Speaker 1: that's not a quote, but but there are definitely Listen.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Bill Maher is an interesting example, and we've talked about
- 23:44Speaker 1: at some point. I hope we have Bill on this show.
- 23:47Speaker 1: I've never met Bill Maher, but more and more I'm
- 23:50Speaker 1: watching his diatribes and I'm retweeting them. Not because he
- 23:57Speaker 1: and I agree. He is an old school liberal, but
- 24:00Speaker 1: he does believe in free speech, which the left is abandoned.
- 24:04Speaker 1: You know, he recently had a monologue where he was
- 24:06Speaker 1: talking about like sexuality and the explosion of people that
- 24:11Speaker 1: are identifying as other genders, and identifying as gay. And
- 24:14Speaker 1: he went, you know, through like like in history, this
- 24:16Speaker 1: was not the case, and we've suddenly had this dramatic
- 24:20Speaker 1: shift which we're not even supposed to talk about it.
- 24:23Speaker 1: He raised an interesting point. He said, well, they're big
- 24:30Speaker 1: regional differences in say, California, the number of people who
- 24:35Speaker 1: identify as forty seven genders versus in Youngstown, Ohio. Yeah,
- 24:40Speaker 1: and he said, either there's a lot of peer pressure
- 24:43Speaker 1: and social pressure in California or there's a lot of
- 24:46Speaker 1: suppression in Ohio. But we had to talk about that.
- 24:49Speaker 1: There's apparently a fundamental transformational shift of humanity that we're
- 24:53Speaker 1: not talking about. And I got to say that, frankly,
- 24:57Speaker 1: sounded like something Michael Knowles would say. Yeah, you gotta
- 25:01Speaker 1: wonder is there anyone left in the Democratic Party who
- 25:07Speaker 1: can actually talk to a steel worker. Yeah. Look like
- 25:12Speaker 1: they have become this angry fringe, wealthy urban radical elite
- 25:20Speaker 1: that is appealing to a smaller and smaller It's like
- 25:23Speaker 1: the Yale faculty, Yeah, is their constituency. And I gotta say, thankfully,
- 25:30Speaker 1: the country is not the Yale faculty. And it seems
- 25:34Speaker 1: that today's Democrats don't get that, you know, This is
- 25:38Speaker 1: actually making me feel a bit better, because we tend
- 25:41Speaker 1: to spend a lot of time online. And it is
- 25:45Speaker 1: true that the boundaries of what is acceptable in society
- 25:50Speaker 1: have been basically blown to smithereens. I mean, even five
- 25:53Speaker 1: years ago, the thought of a little kid going into
- 25:56Speaker 1: a drag bar and putting a dollar, I mean that
- 25:58Speaker 1: that would be unthinkable. So because we've seen the limits
- 26:01Speaker 1: get blown to smith reens, it's very easy to fall
- 26:03Speaker 1: down this pit of despair and say, oh gosh, the
- 26:06Speaker 1: country is gone. We might as well give up the fight.
- 26:09Speaker 1: But to your point, Senator, they may not be doing
- 26:13Speaker 1: this kind of stuff out of confidence, out of the
- 26:16Speaker 1: feeling that they've got the wind at their sales. Actually,
- 26:19Speaker 1: you might be seeing the kind of defiance you're getting
- 26:21Speaker 1: from the administration on the economy, the radicalism on sex
- 26:24Speaker 1: and the drag shows, even the defiance on crime and
- 26:28Speaker 1: criminal justice. You might be seeing that more out of
- 26:31Speaker 1: desperation from Democrats now who know that perhaps their time
- 26:35Speaker 1: in office is going to be dwindling, because there's a
- 26:37Speaker 1: very large movement not just of Republicans but of moderates
- 26:40Speaker 1: and some Democrats too, who are ready to throw them
- 26:44Speaker 1: out and ready to shift that pendulum back. But I
- 26:46Speaker 1: guess we won't. There's a little optimism to leave on.
- 26:49Speaker 1: There's a little hope to leave on. But I suppose
- 26:51Speaker 1: we won't know until those elections take place. By the
- 26:53Speaker 1: time this pod comes out, the world will know whether
- 26:56Speaker 1: Chessabudin's been recalled or not. I don't know whether it
- 26:59Speaker 1: will be or not. It's it's but in some ways,
- 27:04Speaker 1: whether he is or not, the point is the same,
- 27:07Speaker 1: because the fact that it is real and close and
- 27:10Speaker 1: significant is powerful, even if he ekes out surviving or
- 27:14Speaker 1: I hope is recalled. You know, Los Angeles there's a
- 27:19Speaker 1: vigorous primary for mayor. A few months ago it was
- 27:23Speaker 1: assumed that Karen Bass, the extremely liberal Democrat congresswoman, was
- 27:29Speaker 1: a shoe in. And you know now there is at
- 27:33Speaker 1: least a vigorously contested primary with a billionaire developer who
- 27:39Speaker 1: has been a Republican much of his life. He's running
- 27:41Speaker 1: in a Democrat primary. Just to tip the hat to it. Yeah,
- 27:47Speaker 1: but I gotta say, if you're in LA, look you
- 27:49Speaker 1: fled LA. I mean the crime issue. I remember a
- 27:52Speaker 1: couple of years ago, I was visiting with a cop
- 27:56Speaker 1: in California. Used to be an LA cop, and he
- 27:59Speaker 1: showed me on his own a picture of a tree
- 28:01Speaker 1: in downtown LA that was just covered with hypodermic needles,
- 28:06Speaker 1: thousands of needles, where the junkies just threw the needles
- 28:09Speaker 1: in the trees. And at some point people say, wait,
- 28:13Speaker 1: this is nuts. You look at the beaches where you've
- 28:16Speaker 1: got homeless people just allowed to take them over engage
- 28:20Speaker 1: in violence. Listen, you you fled La, So yeah, why
- 28:24Speaker 1: did you? Why am I telling you about the place
- 28:26Speaker 1: you fled? Why did you flee? Well, for all of
- 28:30Speaker 1: those reasons, obviously, Plus there were the economic reasons, you know,
- 28:33Speaker 1: the owner's regulation, all of the constant you know, tax hikes,
- 28:38Speaker 1: and I think the California Franchise Tax Board is basically
- 28:42Speaker 1: worse than the mafia at this point. But then there
- 28:45Speaker 1: is this basic safety issue. And I will tell you
- 28:47Speaker 1: friends of mine who have fled lay. Not all of
- 28:50Speaker 1: my friends in LA were conservative. I mean, if if
- 28:52Speaker 1: that were the case, I'd have very few friends in
- 28:53Speaker 1: LA because there just aren't that many conservatives. And there
- 28:56Speaker 1: were a lot of liberal friends who were making the
- 28:58Speaker 1: same comments about crime, and so people really are getting
- 29:02Speaker 1: sick of that stuff. You can see blue places turn
- 29:05Speaker 1: on these kinds of issues. You saw it happen in
- 29:07Speaker 1: New York and the nineties, you might be seeing that
- 29:09Speaker 1: in Los Angeles right now. The very fact that these
- 29:12Speaker 1: keep cropping up, these hotly contested elections with lots of
- 29:16Speaker 1: momentum behind the center or center right candidate, that shows
- 29:20Speaker 1: you that something is in the air right now. And
- 29:23Speaker 1: so I'm not surprised that the Democrats are throwing everything
- 29:27Speaker 1: they've got. They're throwing the kitchen sink right now. And
- 29:29Speaker 1: I know one way they're trying to distract is they're
- 29:32Speaker 1: trying to distract with the January sixth Partisan Committee in
- 29:37Speaker 1: the House. And I also know that our friend Liz
- 29:40Speaker 1: Wheeler will be discussing this with you, and specifically the
- 29:43Speaker 1: arrest of former Trump aid Peter Navarro on the cloak room.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Isn't that right, Liz, Hi Michael Eyes Hunter. First of all,
- 29:49Speaker 1: before we even get into that topic, I want to
- 29:51Speaker 1: thank you both for that disturbing image of Bernie Sanders
- 29:55Speaker 1: has now burned into my mind for all eternity. I
- 29:59Speaker 1: listen to this, I'd lose to this whole episode sit
- 30:01Speaker 1: to write with you, and this is what I get
- 30:02Speaker 1: in return is this image of Bernie Sanders. Just for
- 30:05Speaker 1: the record, Liz, that was Michael. That was not me.
- 30:08Speaker 1: I was a victim in that imagery as well. You're welcome,
- 30:12Speaker 1: all right. So we are going to talk about Peter
- 30:14Speaker 1: Navarro on Cloakroom. This is a very interesting conversation because
- 30:17Speaker 1: it's not just about the January sixth Committee. That's obviously partisan.
- 30:21Speaker 1: It's obviously a showboat trial if you will. I mean
- 30:24Speaker 1: they hired an ABC News executive to produce it, to
- 30:27Speaker 1: make it a primetime a primetime event here. But the
- 30:30Speaker 1: arrest of Peter Navarro itself is a constitutional question because
- 30:34Speaker 1: what he claimed was executive privilege that he couldn't testify
- 30:38Speaker 1: because this was not his information to give that. It
- 30:41Speaker 1: was actually President Trump's information to either divulge or claim
- 30:44Speaker 1: executive privilege. And there's a very interesting constitutional question about
- 30:48Speaker 1: whether it's even legal for Congress to have indicted him
- 30:52Speaker 1: without the court intervening. And we are going to dive
- 30:55Speaker 1: into the details of that today. You can join us.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Of course, we invite you too. We hope you will
