- 0:13Speaker 1: advice to many occasions. Indication didn't notice I'm not broke.
- 0:17Speaker 1: You know. He'll be interviewing celebrity CEOs, entrepreneurs and industry
- 0:20Speaker 1: decision makers. It's what he likes to do, it's what
- 0:23Speaker 1: he likes to share. Now it's time to hear from
- 0:25Speaker 1: my man, Rashan McDonald. Money Making Conversation Conversation. I am
- 0:30Speaker 1: you're hosting Sean McDonald. It is important understand that everybody
- 0:33Speaker 1: travels a different path to success, and that's because your
- 0:35Speaker 1: brand is different. The challenges you face in your life
- 0:38Speaker 1: are very different. So I always tell people stop reading
- 0:40Speaker 1: other people's success stories and you need to start writing
- 0:42Speaker 1: your all. Because an important that you understand that your efforts,
- 0:45Speaker 1: whether it's with the commitment to time or the commitment
- 0:48Speaker 1: to your dreams, has to be your effort and not
- 0:51Speaker 1: somebody else's a version of somebody else in order for
- 0:53Speaker 1: you to achieve your goals. My next guest is Robert Brace.
- 0:57Speaker 1: He is a celebrity fitness trainer, ordained minister, former ballet dancers.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Something I could never do, wellness expert, motivational speaker, founder
- 1:05Speaker 1: and owner Embraced Life Studios, and founder of the Day
- 1:09Speaker 1: Challenge wellness program. He's known in the fitness community as
- 1:12Speaker 1: the mind, Body, Soul connector. He's been seeing on Good
- 1:15Speaker 1: Morning America, The View, The Food Network, Shape Magazine, Self Magazine,
- 1:20Speaker 1: New York Daily News, Bloomberg Business, and b et dot Com.
- 1:23Speaker 1: But he's walking to money making conversations again. My man.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Is that time of the year, y'all, first of the year,
- 1:28Speaker 1: New ye get that weight off, Robert braces. Robert, you
- 1:32Speaker 1: know I had your last year. I had to bring
- 1:34Speaker 1: you back for that day Challenge talk to us. Thank
- 1:38Speaker 1: you so much for having me back on, especially at
- 1:40Speaker 1: the beginning of the year when we know so many
- 1:42Speaker 1: people are thinking about their wellness, thinking about, you know,
- 1:45Speaker 1: how to elevate their mind, body and soul. So this
- 1:49Speaker 1: is the perfect time. So it's good to be back. Well,
- 1:52Speaker 1: I missed you. I was in New York last the
- 1:54Speaker 1: first quarter last year. Came by the shop over Mulberry
- 1:57Speaker 1: Street right about their clamhouse up. How has COVID affected
- 2:01Speaker 1: the fitness game because we're all shocked. You know, we
- 2:04Speaker 1: shut down for two months, but you had to come
- 2:06Speaker 1: out of that. How did it? A New York is steal,
- 2:08Speaker 1: that's what you're based in New York City, and so
- 2:11Speaker 1: how in each state has different rules for COVID eight team.
- 2:14Speaker 1: So how have they affected your business? Well, Listen, it
- 2:18Speaker 1: was devastating for us in the beginning because we had
- 2:22Speaker 1: spent the prior six months getting ready for a big
- 2:25Speaker 1: launch in March, and right when we were ready to
- 2:28Speaker 1: kind of relaudunch our brand UM in the new studio,
- 2:32Speaker 1: we got asked to shut down. So we were shut
- 2:35Speaker 1: down for six months. And that has affected a lot
- 2:38Speaker 1: of the fitness businesses in New York, especially the small
- 2:41Speaker 1: operators UM. And so it's decimated a lot of businesses,
- 2:45Speaker 1: you know. UM. But at the same time, one of
- 2:49Speaker 1: my phrases that I use a lot is looked plans change,
- 2:53Speaker 1: but purposes permanents. Right, So even though plans changed, the
- 2:58Speaker 1: your purpose, the deep soul level, passionate purpose that you
- 3:02Speaker 1: live by, that's permanent. And so my purpose is always
- 3:05Speaker 1: to encourage uplift others, help them make that mind, body
- 3:08Speaker 1: and soul connection and so we found new ways to
- 3:11Speaker 1: do that. We've created a new app, the brace Life,
- 3:14Speaker 1: and uh that's going to be free to everybody in January, right,
- 3:18Speaker 1: free to everybody. You get your motivating it should need
- 3:24Speaker 1: yet your workouts, you get your telling. This helps us
- 3:26Speaker 1: really and help me specifically when you focus in on
- 3:29Speaker 1: what my true purpose is. And look, we're still here,
- 3:31Speaker 1: our gym is still surviving, and so people are still coming.
- 3:34Speaker 1: People want to work out, people are seeking us out.
- 3:36Speaker 1: So you know we've been we've been blessed. Well that's
- 3:40Speaker 1: the key people seeking you at because you can promote
- 3:43Speaker 1: like you're having a great hamburger. Nobody is there to
- 3:45Speaker 1: buy it. Okay, there's new cases, a great workout program.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Talk about this the app, and then I'm gonna go
- 3:50Speaker 1: back to the twenty day program. But let's tell us
- 3:52Speaker 1: about the app. So when I get the word app
- 3:54Speaker 1: is free? Is downloadable? Is their name for the app.
- 3:58Speaker 1: The app is called the brace Line. Thought they need
- 4:00Speaker 1: to do is go to the brace life dot com
- 4:02Speaker 1: the brace life dot com and listen. This is the
- 4:06Speaker 1: first daily lifestyle wellness app with personalized data tracking to
- 4:11Speaker 1: empower your mind, body, and soul lifestyle practice right so
- 4:16Speaker 1: a lot of people talk about, you know, fitness sometimes
- 4:21Speaker 1: usually one or two dimensional. You've got your workouts, you've
- 4:23Speaker 1: got the nutrition, you've got your workouts, maybe you have
- 4:26Speaker 1: your your meditation. But what we're trying to do, especially
- 4:28Speaker 1: during this time, Look, one thing covidanceins taught us is
- 4:31Speaker 1: that we can't wait to start living our best lives, right,
- 4:35Speaker 1: We need to do it today in every interaction, in
- 4:38Speaker 1: every word spoken, and every action and reaction. And so
- 4:41Speaker 1: this app is designed to really help people make that mind,
- 4:45Speaker 1: body and soul connection, right. The mind being the intelligent
- 4:49Speaker 1: problem solving part of you, the body obviously the physical
- 4:53Speaker 1: aspect of who you are, and your soul where you
- 4:55Speaker 1: feel joy, peace, love, gratitude, right. And so with through workouts, meditations,
- 5:02Speaker 1: and there's a lot of motivational inspiration that people are
- 5:06Speaker 1: going to get in this app and it's going to
- 5:08Speaker 1: help them really launch their year in a healthy, positive way.
- 5:12Speaker 1: So we're giving you everything including life workouts with my team,
- 5:15Speaker 1: live workouts with me and so honestly, you know, what's
- 5:20Speaker 1: happened this year for me personally has really helped me
- 5:25Speaker 1: um focus and decide what do I really have to
- 5:30Speaker 1: give and what is this moment asking me to give
- 5:34Speaker 1: and how can I deliver that? And that's how the
- 5:37Speaker 1: brace life app came about. So you know, just joined
- 5:40Speaker 1: go to the brace life dot com. I've got you
- 5:43Speaker 1: covered for your whole January and it's different. It's not
- 5:46Speaker 1: just a regular workout app. You really will connect your mind,
- 5:49Speaker 1: your body, and your soul. Days why twenty eight days?
- 5:53Speaker 1: Okay days a signature program that kind of put us
- 5:58Speaker 1: on the map. So to refresh Paul, this is the
- 6:00Speaker 1: program that a comedian came and asked me if I
- 6:04Speaker 1: could get him in shape in in thirty days and
- 6:06Speaker 1: get six pack abbs in thirty days. And I just said, yes, comedian.
- 6:12Speaker 1: You see a comedian. Yeah, he was a comedian, Mark Malcolm.
- 6:15Speaker 1: He's a filmmaker and he does these different projects, right,
- 6:19Speaker 1: these insane projects. He went to all Starbucks in Manhattan
- 6:23Speaker 1: Island in a day. And so his next insane project was, look,
- 6:26Speaker 1: these fitness magazines say that you can get six stack
- 6:30Speaker 1: ads in thirty days. Can that really be done? And
- 6:33Speaker 1: so he came to me and I said, sure, we
- 6:35Speaker 1: can do it in thirty days. And we ended up
- 6:37Speaker 1: doing it. And this was back in two thousand eleven
- 6:41Speaker 1: and that video he posted it on an obscure platform
- 6:46Speaker 1: and that platform it got a million views, right sorry,
- 6:50Speaker 1: two thousand got a million views, and so people started
- 6:52Speaker 1: seeking me out and since then the Challenges has become
- 6:56Speaker 1: a signature program where we transformed people's bodies in twenty
- 7:00Speaker 1: eight days UM and so uh, it's uh, it's an
- 7:04Speaker 1: intense program. That that is the most intense program that
- 7:07Speaker 1: we offer. But it comes with a mail plan. It
- 7:09Speaker 1: comes with UM specific um caudio protocols designed to really
- 7:16Speaker 1: strip down body flat flat and mod your body within
- 7:19Speaker 1: a short period of time. So let's talk about that.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Let's talk about that first program. Let's let's slow you
- 7:24Speaker 1: back down, you know, because you know thirty days and
- 7:28Speaker 1: you have a person who says he wants it done,
- 7:31Speaker 1: but really doing it for arterior motives. She's doing it
- 7:34Speaker 1: for video project or a docuseries. So what were the
- 7:38Speaker 1: frustrations in that process and what were the uplifting moments
- 7:43Speaker 1: for you in that process? Are working with a person
- 7:45Speaker 1: there's the first time you did this type of program,
- 7:47Speaker 1: which is because a signature part of your program. So
- 7:50Speaker 1: now you know what the bumps in the road are
- 7:53Speaker 1: in this particular program. Where people will push back or
- 7:56Speaker 1: the pushback was in that initial program with him, I
- 8:00Speaker 1: think to push back. The one thing that I remember
- 8:04Speaker 1: working with Mark and and has shown itself in subsequent
- 8:09Speaker 1: clients and projects, is that people think it's um People
- 8:14Speaker 1: try to oversimplify it. There is a lot of science
- 8:17Speaker 1: and there is a lot of dedication that you have
- 8:20Speaker 1: to put in to make this work right. And so
- 8:24Speaker 1: it's not just a matter of while I'm going to
- 8:27Speaker 1: cut a few meals here and there, getting people to
- 8:30Speaker 1: see that, look, you can have what you want, it's
- 8:32Speaker 1: right here, right, but you have to go through steps A, B, C,
- 8:36Speaker 1: and D in this order to get there right. And
- 8:40Speaker 1: so I think initially, Mike, where I had to grow
- 8:44Speaker 1: is learning to communicate that in a way that is
- 8:47Speaker 1: encouraging and uplifting and inspiring and so um in terms.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So that was one of the challenges. Right, everybody wants
- 8:55Speaker 1: what is Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody
- 8:57Speaker 1: wants to die right. Everybody wants to add, but nobody
- 9:00Speaker 1: wants to do the work right. So so it's getting
- 9:03Speaker 1: people through that process and helping people to connect and
- 9:07Speaker 1: visualize their goals and how they see themselves with the
- 9:11Speaker 1: work that they're putting in every single day, and once
- 9:14Speaker 1: you make that connection, then that's like rocket fuel, right.
- 9:17Speaker 1: They're like, Oh, I want to be here. I can
- 9:20Speaker 1: see myself there, and in order to get there, all
- 9:24Speaker 1: I gotta do is these steps every single day and
- 9:26Speaker 1: stay focused on what's right in front of me. That's
- 9:29Speaker 1: where it becomes inspiring. And you know, Mark went on
- 9:31Speaker 1: and yet an incredible transformation. It's one of the most
- 9:34Speaker 1: dramatic transformations we've ever had. And so you know, he's
- 9:37Speaker 1: just been one of those people who always supported our
- 9:40Speaker 1: program and that we ended up one of the highlights.
- 9:44Speaker 1: The program ended up being turned into an infomercial, and
- 9:46Speaker 1: so we were flown out to l A. We were
- 9:49Speaker 1: on a sound stage built for the twenty day challenge,
- 9:53Speaker 1: and Mark, who was there at the beginning, was there
- 9:56Speaker 1: one of those you know, big moments. You know, it's great.
- 10:02Speaker 1: One thing I liked about that whole story is when
- 10:04Speaker 1: I talk about people who come on my show and
- 10:06Speaker 1: I talked about the purpose of money making conversation, being
- 10:08Speaker 1: ready and not shine away from a challenge. Like you said,
- 10:11Speaker 1: there was something you've never done before, but it was
- 10:14Speaker 1: presented to you. You felt that you could pull it
- 10:16Speaker 1: off without proper planning. But you knew that. You knew
- 10:19Speaker 1: your brain and you knew what your brain is based upon,
- 10:22Speaker 1: and so a lot of people shy away from That's
- 10:24Speaker 1: what I always tell people. Let's walking out in the
- 10:26Speaker 1: dark without a flashlight, but your flashlight was that your
- 10:29Speaker 1: brand was on sound footing and you knew how to
- 10:32Speaker 1: accomplish the task. Talk about when people are presenting you
- 10:36Speaker 1: with ideas and how people shouldn't shy away from that,
- 10:39Speaker 1: and how you was able to overcome that doubt when
- 10:42Speaker 1: this project was presented to you. Uh. I think that
- 10:47Speaker 1: that you know, everything that you do in life is
- 10:51Speaker 1: preparation and when opportunities or challenges like that are presented.
- 10:58Speaker 1: For me, you know, part of my back round as
- 11:00Speaker 1: I'm spiritual, I was a minister for many years. For me,
- 11:03Speaker 1: it's um, you know, God saying to me, it's time
- 11:06Speaker 1: for you to be scrapped. It's time for you to
- 11:08Speaker 1: be uncomfortable, and that's where the blessings really come from.
- 11:13Speaker 1: And look, you might not be successful in every single one,
- 11:16Speaker 1: right Listen, if you haven't failed enough, it means you
- 11:20Speaker 1: haven't been trying hard enough, right, But you're going to
- 11:22Speaker 1: fail us some things that you're gonna learn through those failures.
- 11:26Speaker 1: But at the same time, when those opportunities are presented,
- 11:29Speaker 1: it's it's just like an opening a door to another gateway.
- 11:33Speaker 1: You don't know what's going to come from that. You
- 11:35Speaker 1: don't know what's behind that door. And so so long
- 11:38Speaker 1: as you can stay true to your core beliefs, true
- 11:41Speaker 1: to your integrity, true to the trajectory that you see
- 11:45Speaker 1: yourself on, right when these opportunities present themselves, um, it's
- 11:51Speaker 1: it's time for me. It's always represented as an open door,
- 11:55Speaker 1: a time to step up and discover something new. And
- 11:58Speaker 1: if I had not stepped up, really a huge part
- 12:01Speaker 1: of what has h helped my personal brand and my
- 12:04Speaker 1: gym be successful, I would never have I would never
- 12:08Speaker 1: have been introduced to And that's really important now. Now
- 12:12Speaker 1: when I came by your studio when I was in
- 12:14Speaker 1: New York, and I would like, at the one, let
- 12:15Speaker 1: you know this right now, Robert, I'd be in New
- 12:17Speaker 1: York two weeks a month starting June January eight, So
- 12:22Speaker 1: you definitely need to take this old body and kind
- 12:25Speaker 1: of like, let's talk about my old body, because that's
- 12:29Speaker 1: a lot of that's just the first of the year,
- 12:31Speaker 1: and we all want to get in shape immediate, you know,
- 12:34Speaker 1: but there's a process, Like I've learned that. Like I'm
- 12:37Speaker 1: moving into a new building and I found myself going
- 12:39Speaker 1: up and down steps and my knees started talking to me.
- 12:43Speaker 1: So that means that my knees and say, okay, you
- 12:45Speaker 1: you look like you're in shape, y show, but your
- 12:47Speaker 1: knees are not prepared for going up and down these steps.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Let's talk about doing the process right. What's your program
- 12:54Speaker 1: in general, and not trying to overextend the physical capabilities
- 12:59Speaker 1: that body is not prepared to undertake. Yes, you, this
- 13:05Speaker 1: is really important, and I'm glad you asked this question
- 13:08Speaker 1: because sometimes when people like me come on a show,
- 13:13Speaker 1: it can seem like and I've just talked about a
- 13:16Speaker 1: twenty eight day program, right, so it can seem like
- 13:18Speaker 1: you just gotta go hard and you're got to smash
- 13:20Speaker 1: your body. That's definitely not where we come from. Right.
- 13:26Speaker 1: My background, as you know, as a professional dancer, as
- 13:28Speaker 1: I was in school, I was an athlete, and so
- 13:32Speaker 1: one of the main things that we focus on is
- 13:34Speaker 1: doing things with the right form and the right technique right,
- 13:38Speaker 1: because if you do things with the right form, and
- 13:41Speaker 1: you may take a little more longer on the beginning end. Right,
- 13:45Speaker 1: your body is going to adapt to proper form, and
- 13:48Speaker 1: it's going to accelerate your results. Whereas if you just
- 13:52Speaker 1: bang away your body and you're not listening to your body,
- 13:54Speaker 1: it can exacerbate any injuries. Um and it can and
- 13:58Speaker 1: it can ultimately take you longer to get to where
- 14:01Speaker 1: you want to be. So you talk about your old body, right,
- 14:05Speaker 1: there's no old bodies. Your body has a lot of
- 14:07Speaker 1: wisdom in it. Your body has been through a lot
- 14:08Speaker 1: of things. I know that you work out. You can
- 14:11Speaker 1: see out me on that on my knees. Well, listen,
- 14:20Speaker 1: your knees be talking to you because they've got something
- 14:22Speaker 1: to say some places, right. So so since in some
- 14:30Speaker 1: places there's some wisdom in there, right. So what do
- 14:34Speaker 1: I mean by that is that your your body has
- 14:36Speaker 1: muscle memory, right, and so more that you train it
- 14:38Speaker 1: in the right way, the more that it's going to
- 14:40Speaker 1: adapt and respond. Right. And so it's just a matter
- 14:44Speaker 1: of doing things in the right way over time and
- 14:48Speaker 1: your body will change and respond. What I say to
- 14:51Speaker 1: my clients is gentle um uh, gentle pressure applied relentlessly right,
- 14:58Speaker 1: little general pressure, apply relentlessly and your body is going
- 15:01Speaker 1: to change and physically, but getting too scientifical technical, there's
- 15:05Speaker 1: this thing called specific adaptation to impose demand. If you
- 15:12Speaker 1: um impose a demand on your body specifically and over time,
- 15:17Speaker 1: your body will specifically adapt to meet that demand. And
- 15:22Speaker 1: that is how it will change and mold to be
- 15:25Speaker 1: the body that you want it to be. And that's
- 15:29Speaker 1: when your serotonin goes up, your dolphins go up, You
- 15:32Speaker 1: get the joy, you get the stress relief in addition
- 15:34Speaker 1: to your body changing, that's what makes it a whole mind, body,
- 15:36Speaker 1: and soul experience. It's finally here, the season of celebration.
- 15:41Speaker 1: And no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,
- 15:44Speaker 1: whether you're preparing for Reis Magos or Karamu lighting the Manura,

- 17:32Speaker 1: That's O. T T E R. Dot ai. Not not
- 17:35Speaker 1: giving the way the whole program, but what are some
- 17:38Speaker 1: of the major steps, Like, you know, I do a
- 17:39Speaker 1: little light workout, I do walking, I do some cardio,
- 17:43Speaker 1: I do some you know, do the core. What are
- 17:46Speaker 1: the dynamics of the twenty day program? You did say
- 17:49Speaker 1: there is a meal plan associated because like you said,
- 17:52Speaker 1: you you can't go out there and double b cheese
- 17:54Speaker 1: burgers and try to do a twenty day program at
- 17:57Speaker 1: the same time. Let's go and get that out. Okay.
- 17:59Speaker 1: So how does this start and how does it in
- 18:03Speaker 1: in the twenty day period? Okay? So there are for instance,
- 18:08Speaker 1: if you go on somewhere app, there are four signature workouts, right,
- 18:12Speaker 1: and they're designed to be done one after the other.
- 18:15Speaker 1: So we start you off with a dynamic warm up.
- 18:17Speaker 1: We teach you the principles in the in the course
- 18:20Speaker 1: before you even start, we show the principles of how
- 18:23Speaker 1: to move your body as a principal I called fierce form.
- 18:27Speaker 1: So how to move your body in the right posture
- 18:29Speaker 1: in the right way so that you accelerate your results
- 18:32Speaker 1: and get everything that we've talked about. And also how
- 18:34Speaker 1: to engage your core. Engaging your core in the right
- 18:37Speaker 1: way means that over time you're going to be able
- 18:40Speaker 1: to do more explosive movements faster. So we progress the
- 18:44Speaker 1: movements and the work workouts in a certain way. And
- 18:47Speaker 1: so there's a four basic ones, but then as we
- 18:49Speaker 1: go we'll be doing live workouts as well, so people
- 18:52Speaker 1: will be able to join in for free, especially in January.
- 18:55Speaker 1: The live workouts um that are going to add to
- 18:58Speaker 1: those four they say workouts, and you'll see, we build
- 19:03Speaker 1: up your care, we build up your form, then we
- 19:05Speaker 1: build up your power, that we build up your joance,
- 19:07Speaker 1: then we build up your own athletic ability, and it
- 19:10Speaker 1: just slowly, slowly rises like this. And so within either
- 19:15Speaker 1: twenty eight calendar days or twenty eight actual workouts, those
- 19:19Speaker 1: are the two versions, you get a whole body transformation.
- 19:23Speaker 1: And what we've added it Listen, but I want people
- 19:28Speaker 1: to understand is the challenge we've done all day, every
- 19:32Speaker 1: day and we've we've gotten results many many, many times,
- 19:36Speaker 1: especially in this year. We want people to connect their
- 19:40Speaker 1: mind to what they're doing, and this is the reason
- 19:43Speaker 1: why people are coming off COVID nineteen. There's a lot
- 19:46Speaker 1: of anxiety, there's a lot of depressing, a lot of
- 19:49Speaker 1: people going through many different things. Everybody has a different
- 19:52Speaker 1: life story. When you move your body, the thing to
- 19:55Speaker 1: understand is that it produces something called serotonin, which is
- 19:59Speaker 1: it would increases your joy, increases endolphins, which takes the
- 20:04Speaker 1: edge off of the physical markers of stress. And especially
- 20:07Speaker 1: for other people in black communities, you know, the markers
- 20:10Speaker 1: of stress are affecting us in terms of arthritis um
- 20:14Speaker 1: in terms of inflammation in our joints and in our
- 20:17Speaker 1: arteries which can lead to heart problems which can lead
- 20:19Speaker 1: to diabetes, affecting our aggestive issues. Right, And so when
- 20:24Speaker 1: you move, you get more seroto tonnel, which gives you
- 20:27Speaker 1: more joy. You get more endolphins, which takes the edge
- 20:29Speaker 1: of your stress. There's even a hormone called endoc cannabinoids,
- 20:33Speaker 1: and it increases your bliss, It helps you think more clearly,
- 20:37Speaker 1: increases the executive functioning of your brain. So, in addition
- 20:40Speaker 1: to what a changed body, you're getting a changed mind.
- 20:44Speaker 1: And in addition to a changed mind, you're getting feelings
- 20:46Speaker 1: of of of joy, of peace. It actually increases the
- 20:51Speaker 1: love hormone, so your ability to bond with other people.
- 20:54Speaker 1: So those those feelings of joy and peace, love, those
- 20:57Speaker 1: are spiritual, soul level qualities. So change your body, you
- 21:01Speaker 1: elevate your mind, and you refresh your soul. So I
- 21:05Speaker 1: want people to get the body changed. Everybody wants to
- 21:07Speaker 1: be snatched. Everybody wants to be looking good with that
- 21:09Speaker 1: shut off for the swimsuit. Right, we got you no
- 21:13Speaker 1: problem all day every day. In addition to that, we
- 21:16Speaker 1: want to give you that elevated experience. You know, Robert,
- 21:19Speaker 1: we all got the bathroom pose. You know what I'm saying.
- 21:22Speaker 1: We're looking at that mirror. You're trying to get the
- 21:24Speaker 1: bathroom pose out of the bathroom. Right, You're trying to
- 21:27Speaker 1: get right down because we know you know that look
- 21:30Speaker 1: I'm talking about, Robin. We can turn left, turn right,
- 21:34Speaker 1: that's right, this look right there, just to look right there.
- 21:37Speaker 1: It's like that good for about five minutes. They walk
- 21:41Speaker 1: out of there, and the bathroom pools days. In the bathroom,
- 21:44Speaker 1: you're trying to get the bathroom. Pose into the dural
- 21:48Speaker 1: public with this day program. Right, that's right, and do
- 21:54Speaker 1: it in such a way that you don't have to
- 21:56Speaker 1: scooping your optimis post. Come on, I'm a proponent of it.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I'm an advocate of it. I've been doing it all
- 22:06Speaker 1: my life. But this is one your brace life studio.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I'm with the mind body, so connector Robert, Brace Robert.
- 22:14Speaker 1: It's the first of the year. The first quarter is
- 22:15Speaker 1: always that I'm gonna save money, I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 22:20Speaker 1: want to live a better life. I'm gonna I'm actually
- 22:23Speaker 1: keep to my resolutions. A fight up. That's why we
- 22:26Speaker 1: want to always want to bring you on the first
- 22:28Speaker 1: of the year. This is this is gonna becoming like
- 22:31Speaker 1: our annual our relationship. You know every year, get a
- 22:35Speaker 1: roll in twenty eight days. You start in January and
- 22:38Speaker 1: February Black History money for you or African America. You
- 22:41Speaker 1: can be motivated to say, I prepared to celebrate use
- 22:45Speaker 1: Black History money is a celebration because you've achieved your
- 22:48Speaker 1: first major goal of the year, the twenty eight day challenge. Now,
- 22:52Speaker 1: how do you sustain that desire? Robert? How do you
- 22:55Speaker 1: sustain that you and your lost coming. Just um explained
- 23:03Speaker 1: something that people need to know about sustaining it. Right.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Listen again, don't want to get too technical, but you've
- 23:10Speaker 1: got to connect your long term goals to something bigger
- 23:14Speaker 1: than yourself or to your bigger life goal. Right. And
- 23:17Speaker 1: what I mean is you just talked about Black History Months,
- 23:20Speaker 1: doing something that we're all going to be celebrating, and
- 23:23Speaker 1: that is bigger than us. Right. And look, there is
- 23:26Speaker 1: still more work to be done in this arena. We've got,
- 23:29Speaker 1: you know, for me in my house, and I've got
- 23:31Speaker 1: my daughters I've got to raise and I've got to
- 23:33Speaker 1: help them be more focused. I've got to I've got
- 23:34Speaker 1: to help them see the love of themselves, love themselves
- 23:36Speaker 1: so who they are too, beautiful black girls. And so
- 23:40Speaker 1: I need to be strong and available. And so because
- 23:43Speaker 1: I need to be strong and available, I need physically
- 23:46Speaker 1: to be where I need to be so that I
- 23:48Speaker 1: can give them the attention that they need, with the
- 23:50Speaker 1: energy that they need, so that I can be there
- 23:52Speaker 1: for my wife, be there for my kids. And that
- 23:55Speaker 1: is that's that's a belief right in the center of
- 23:58Speaker 1: my being. And so I make that the reason why
- 24:04Speaker 1: I work on my body and we have got to
- 24:06Speaker 1: connect to the higher goals in our lives. Yes, it's
- 24:09Speaker 1: been shown that when people go for just merely short goals,
- 24:14Speaker 1: after you reach the goal, there's a little bit of
- 24:18Speaker 1: a depression to gold and then it's like what's next.
- 24:20Speaker 1: And many people, many programs say Okay, you've got to
- 24:22Speaker 1: go onto maintenance. But maintenance maintenance is who wants to
- 24:26Speaker 1: just maintain? Right? People want to excel, people, people want
- 24:30Speaker 1: to grow, people want to elevate. I don't want to
- 24:31Speaker 1: spend my life maintaining right, And so what we've got
- 24:36Speaker 1: to do is connect with a higher goal. Right. So
- 24:42Speaker 1: I want to be there for my kids to do
- 24:44Speaker 1: this work that I do, which I consider an extent ministry, right,
- 24:48Speaker 1: So I need to be strong for that. So everybody's
- 24:50Speaker 1: going to figure out what is your big why? What
- 24:53Speaker 1: is the big why? Um that you need to take
- 24:57Speaker 1: care of your body to make sure that you're strong,
- 24:59Speaker 1: to make sure that your for strength is where it
- 25:01Speaker 1: needs to be and you're at peace in your soul. Right,
- 25:04Speaker 1: So that's how you keep it going a long time.
- 25:07Speaker 1: And then if you want to do a twenty eight day,
- 25:09Speaker 1: you smash it for twenty eight days. Then you can
- 25:11Speaker 1: go back to the lifestyle, a lifestyle regiment, and then
- 25:15Speaker 1: as you want to move from a lifestyle regiment to
- 25:18Speaker 1: look for an adventure and you want to go on
- 25:19Speaker 1: a hike, com man, you want to climb it, then
- 25:21Speaker 1: then you do that. But your prime goal, your prime purpose,
- 25:24Speaker 1: right is always connected to why you're moving your body
- 25:29Speaker 1: and why you're exercising. It's got to be elevated. And
- 25:31Speaker 1: that's one of the things we talked about. You know,
- 25:34Speaker 1: at the beginning of the end Ofview, I talked about
- 25:35Speaker 1: your studio on one thirty one thirty two Mulberry Street
- 25:39Speaker 1: down a little place I visited and peep through little door,
- 25:43Speaker 1: so I saw I saw a studio. It's not a
- 25:45Speaker 1: big studio, so a studio that how many people can
- 25:48Speaker 1: get in your studio And with people coming out of COVID,
- 25:52Speaker 1: you know, with the vaccine coming out, look, I expect
- 25:55Speaker 1: people at the end of the first quarter to start
- 25:58Speaker 1: start coming into studio and starting to be reminded they
- 26:00Speaker 1: could interact, talk about your studio size, in the location
- 26:05Speaker 1: and what benefits of coming to your studio. Will have
- 26:08Speaker 1: a period ten okay, so yeah, we've got I mean
- 26:13Speaker 1: for a Boutich Studios is a decent size. We've got
- 26:17Speaker 1: square feet and you know what what in typical times
- 26:21Speaker 1: we can have a capacity of fifty people, but during COVID,
- 26:25Speaker 1: we've produced that to sixty. Right. Well, the building has
- 26:28Speaker 1: the run, has a capacity of fifty people, right, but
- 26:31Speaker 1: during COVID the maximum occupancy is sixteen. But we've gone
- 26:35Speaker 1: further one. We ah, we've passed our health inspection and
- 26:40Speaker 1: we've gotten a grade in terms of our COVID cleanliness.
- 26:43Speaker 1: And so we're trying to limit the amount of people
- 26:46Speaker 1: in the studio to just three to five clients will
- 26:52Speaker 1: for the trainer, right, um, so that there's enough space
- 26:55Speaker 1: between everybody, everybody feels safe. Um. And look, we can
- 26:59Speaker 1: have sixty people in the studio, but we just want
- 27:02Speaker 1: to go Look if if we're talking about helping people
- 27:05Speaker 1: be well, right, then we need to go above and
- 27:07Speaker 1: beyond that when people are in our environment that they
- 27:10Speaker 1: are well and so, um and so and so. Yeah,
- 27:13Speaker 1: people are coming back already, we've even at the end
- 27:17Speaker 1: part of this year. People are in the studio working out,
- 27:20Speaker 1: maintaining the distance, wearing the masks, getting in shape, and
- 27:24Speaker 1: we're going to continue. They need to do that, and
- 27:28Speaker 1: we've been one of the lucky stars to survive. Especially
- 27:30Speaker 1: she has a blackgown business. Take that as a badge
- 27:33Speaker 1: of one of for my team, for our clients, and
- 27:36Speaker 1: for everybody who's um you know, come through the studio. Well,
- 27:39Speaker 1: I'm talking to Robert Braids. You know he's gonna see
- 27:41Speaker 1: me this year. Okay, Robert, you know, like I said,
- 27:46Speaker 1: J word eight, I'll be up there because when I
- 27:48Speaker 1: get off studio, a man ain't too many things you
- 27:50Speaker 1: can do. Now we're cold. So one of the things
- 27:53Speaker 1: that I know I have to do is come see you. Now. Now,
- 27:56Speaker 1: with me coming up there, what type of schedule would
- 27:58Speaker 1: you put me on? You know, would how would you
- 28:01Speaker 1: introduced me to your studio at one Berry Street. One
- 28:06Speaker 1: of the first things is we're going to take you
- 28:08Speaker 1: through the whole process. Right, um, you come in, you
- 28:12Speaker 1: and again it's all mind body. So so you're you're introduced,
- 28:15Speaker 1: you get a juice shop which is designed to make
- 28:19Speaker 1: you more alert, but also at the same time open
- 28:23Speaker 1: your heart and lungs, so that's your your oxygen is
- 28:26Speaker 1: moving through your body better. Then we'll test you out.
- 28:28Speaker 1: We'll make sure that the movements that we're going to
- 28:31Speaker 1: do are specific to you, right, and then we'll build
- 28:33Speaker 1: your program, building your core, building your legs. After that,
- 28:41Speaker 1: the focused meditation that will help you connect with your
- 28:44Speaker 1: goals and everything that we talked about. So we put
- 28:47Speaker 1: on these noise canceling headphones so you cancel out all
- 28:50Speaker 1: the noise around you. You go through this meditation and
- 28:53Speaker 1: you connect MHM with those goals that we were talking
- 28:57Speaker 1: about earlier. And then at the end you get another
- 29:00Speaker 1: you shot again to um alive in your sense and
- 29:02Speaker 1: make your focus for the day. And then we give
- 29:04Speaker 1: you spinach extract, which is a natural way for you
- 29:08Speaker 1: to control your appetite. Okay, it's one of the most
- 29:14Speaker 1: natural things that you can do to help you gain
- 29:16Speaker 1: control of your appetite, especially for sugars and cubs. Okay, cool,
- 29:19Speaker 1: that's gonna be real about it, and so you're gonna
- 29:21Speaker 1: get the whole streatment, right. So let's go and be
- 29:24Speaker 1: real about this. Okay, I'm coming up there January eight. Okay, Robert, Okay,
- 29:28Speaker 1: so I would believe I should come by in your
- 29:30Speaker 1: studio January nine. Okay. You open on Saturdays, right, Okay, Okay, cool,
- 29:35Speaker 1: and so I can make that make that happen for you. Yeah, okay, cool,
- 29:39Speaker 1: because I'm it's gonna be serious. You know, Like I
- 29:41Speaker 1: said that, I'm not saying I'm a guinea pig, but
- 29:43Speaker 1: you know I'm gonna be a guinea pig for myself
- 29:46Speaker 1: because I need to, you know, I would tell you that.
- 29:49Speaker 1: You know, when I was like in the eighties, you know,
- 29:51Speaker 1: I taught aerobics, you know, and I taught it, and
- 29:54Speaker 1: so so I know the the whole motivational at the
- 29:58Speaker 1: first of the year. I always know, the p joined
- 30:00Speaker 1: the class at the top of the month, and as
- 30:03Speaker 1: you go through the month, they started dropping off, and
- 30:05Speaker 1: then you started zero again almost, you know, because you
- 30:08Speaker 1: start with thirty eight with ten. That's usually I happened
- 30:11Speaker 1: at the top of the month, the first of the year.
- 30:13Speaker 1: I mean, you can't even you don't have enough spaces.
- 30:16Speaker 1: People sign up there. Everybody want to get motivated, and
- 30:19Speaker 1: so so I noticed I know that process. And so
- 30:23Speaker 1: so when me going up there and talking to you,
- 30:25Speaker 1: this was a perfect interview for me because I know
- 30:27Speaker 1: I'm going up there, I know that I might have
- 30:30Speaker 1: free time, and so so January eight is when I'm
- 30:33Speaker 1: gonna come up there. So January night, let's schedule my
- 30:36Speaker 1: first session with you, and and let's get on the
- 30:39Speaker 1: phone with a couple of times, so reach because I
- 30:42Speaker 1: want to tell everybody this is a real commitment to
- 30:44Speaker 1: to the Brace Life studios. And I were starting to
- 30:47Speaker 1: January nine, and I'll do with some posts we do.
- 30:49Speaker 1: We probably do some photos online and saying I'm at
- 30:52Speaker 1: your studio started my first day of the twenty eight
- 30:54Speaker 1: day challenge. Now here's my whole thing. Like see, I'll
- 30:57Speaker 1: be in New York January eight through two. Okay then
- 31:01Speaker 1: okay down and I'll be back into my office location
- 31:04Speaker 1: in Atlanta. Can I steal do they day challenge even
- 31:08Speaker 1: though I'm not with you? Yeah? Absolutely? And this is
- 31:12Speaker 1: this is why we created this app. And I think
- 31:15Speaker 1: what you're proposing is awesome, especially in January, because I
- 31:18Speaker 1: think we're going to do a lot of good with
- 31:19Speaker 1: this because while you're in Atlanta, we've got the apps,
- 31:25Speaker 1: the workouts on the app prerecorded, and they're going to
- 31:27Speaker 1: be able to do live workouts as well, some with me,
- 31:30Speaker 1: some with my team. Right, So if they go on
- 31:33Speaker 1: to the brace life dot com and just get their
- 31:36Speaker 1: name on that list, they're gonna and we start posting
- 31:41Speaker 1: together and they see your progress. Um, yeah, they can
- 31:44Speaker 1: do it whether and you can do it, whether you're
- 31:47Speaker 1: in the studio with me or whether you're in another
- 31:50Speaker 1: city somewhere else. And we can also do remote sessions
- 31:52Speaker 1: too if we want to give you know, if we
- 31:54Speaker 1: want to share, um, what we're going through with peop
- 31:59Speaker 1: because we do train a lot of our clients, especially
- 32:01Speaker 1: during COVID remotely. Well, this is awesome. Like I said, Robert,
- 32:05Speaker 1: thank you for coming on the show again. Uh the
- 32:07Speaker 1: Brace Life Studios. I'm making a commitment to you because
- 32:10Speaker 1: I believe in you. And it's not so much about
- 32:13Speaker 1: it's being twenty eight days. I just believe in your program.
- 32:15Speaker 1: I believe in your authenticity. I believe in the fact
- 32:18Speaker 1: that you are a man committed UH African American entrepreneur
- 32:23Speaker 1: and that survived COVID and survived COVID and we know
- 32:26Speaker 1: how for the sixth Center, those small businesses in America
- 32:29Speaker 1: I've been shut down due to COVID and then and
- 32:32Speaker 1: then and travesties is called to our economic flow, especially
- 32:35Speaker 1: in the restaurant and the fielding live entertainment business. But
- 32:39Speaker 1: you're in that business of being able to health and wellness,
- 32:42Speaker 1: personalized fitness, and I need it. I've never had anybody
- 32:45Speaker 1: trained me in my life. So at the age of
- 32:48Speaker 1: sixty two, I'm allowing myself to put into your hands,
- 32:52Speaker 1: my friend and uh and and I do that with
- 32:54Speaker 1: a smile on my face. And I'm excited to get
- 32:57Speaker 1: into this program and not not doing it just to
- 33:00Speaker 1: do a documentary on on a good living. I'm doing
- 33:03Speaker 1: it because I want to feel good about myself and
- 33:05Speaker 1: that's what your program, I feel, would do for me.
- 33:07Speaker 1: And any closing remarks on where they need to go
- 33:10Speaker 1: to find out about your app and put that website
- 33:12Speaker 1: out for the last time, Robert, Yeah, sure, well, thank
- 33:17Speaker 1: you for this and thank you for trusting me. I
- 33:18Speaker 1: look forward to the ninth. If you want to join,
- 33:21Speaker 1: go to the Brace be our a c life dot com.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Sign up. It's free for January, right, So everything that
- 33:29Speaker 1: we talked about here. You're going to get the workouts,
- 33:32Speaker 1: the meditations, the motivation, the daily journal, you know, everything
- 33:36Speaker 1: that we've talked about here. So the Brace life dot
- 33:39Speaker 1: come and I'll see you there. Well, I see you
- 33:42Speaker 1: on January nine, because we've talked prior to that. Because
- 33:45Speaker 1: I really want to change my life, and I feel
- 33:46Speaker 1: the day challenge will change my life in the right direction.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Fore and onward, and I'm a I'm dedicating putting you
- 33:53Speaker 1: in my hands. Brace life scales. Let's take care of you, man.
- 33:57Speaker 1: We will take care of you for sure if you'll
- 33:59Speaker 1: have me. I'm looking forward to that. Man. It's gonna
- 34:02Speaker 1: be exciting because of the fact that I like you.
- 34:03Speaker 1: I like you, I like your personality man. And like
- 34:06Speaker 1: I said, this is the second year in a row
- 34:07Speaker 1: that we've talked about your program. You know, I was
- 34:10Speaker 1: in Earnest because I came by your place, and you
- 34:12Speaker 1: know so I've been inspired by your conversation, been inspired
- 34:17Speaker 1: by your brand, and so this time I will get
- 34:19Speaker 1: in and sit down we're talking. I just want to
- 34:21Speaker 1: go through an earnest program at my age to be
- 34:25Speaker 1: able to understand my body a little bit more. I
- 34:28Speaker 1: feel like I understand it, but I've never understood it
- 34:30Speaker 1: through a workout program. And this workout program, I think,
- 34:33Speaker 1: I feel would benefit me and also for my staff
- 34:35Speaker 1: and my family and the and the goals I have
- 34:38Speaker 1: set for myself in one I need to be a
- 34:41Speaker 1: I need to set a standard and I think and
- 34:43Speaker 1: I feel the day challenge will do the transformation for
