- 1:46Speaker 1: Come on? You know I don't sound like that man.
- 1:49Speaker 1: How are you just gonna just blow over that great voice?
- 1:51Speaker 1: You know, I'm gonna just a little scratch you trying
- 1:53Speaker 1: to get by voice? Hey? How you doing? How you
- 1:57Speaker 1: doing there? I'm very good? That good? Well. First of all,
- 2:01Speaker 1: thank you for coming on my show. Thank you for
- 2:03Speaker 1: being the an entrepreneur, a guy who hasn't had a
- 2:07Speaker 1: career and he's having a career. And also, congratulations on
- 2:11Speaker 1: the amazingly high ratings for this series, uh that you're
- 2:17Speaker 1: starting on with Last Man Standing with Tim Allen's I know, right,
- 2:20Speaker 1: I mean that was so good. I mean, I just
- 2:22Speaker 1: really really appreciate the fans of this show. I'm just
- 2:26Speaker 1: I'm just over the moon. It was really good. That's
- 2:29Speaker 1: why you know, you do something good, something bad shocks you,
- 2:33Speaker 1: and then you get picked up. Let me just tell
- 2:34Speaker 1: you if everybody was happening with Last Man Standard, uh
- 2:37Speaker 1: for six years it was on ABC. Okay, it debated,
- 2:40Speaker 1: It debated the seventh season on Fox Friday Night Friday
- 2:43Speaker 1: Night Now with Tim Allen. Let'sa come rocketing past this
- 2:47Speaker 1: previous season high numbers on ABC. Okay, ABC said we're
- 2:51Speaker 1: done with it, Last Man Standing averaging one point eight
- 2:54Speaker 1: ratings and adults which is the key demo eighteen to
- 2:56Speaker 1: forty nine and eight million viewers and at PM. By comparison,
- 3:01Speaker 1: check this out. The season six premiere on ABC drew
- 3:04Speaker 1: at one point one rating and six million viewers. By
- 3:07Speaker 1: this season as a whole, on one point two rating
- 3:10Speaker 1: and six point four million viewers. In fact, the last
- 3:13Speaker 1: time the series drew over eight million viewers was back
- 3:16Speaker 1: in season four, and the last time I drew at
- 3:18Speaker 1: one point eight rating a better was in season two.
- 3:21Speaker 1: It did both of those this past Friday. Hallelujah. Come
- 3:25Speaker 1: on now, I'm Jason Jonathan. I know how to put
- 3:28Speaker 1: the show together. Brother. I'm not gonna just bring you
- 3:30Speaker 1: on this show and not have my facts because because
- 3:35Speaker 1: you talked to Click, you talked to click. If you talk,
- 3:39Speaker 1: if you if you talk me out, everybody gonna understand
- 3:41Speaker 1: what you said about me. Right those numbers numbers don't live. Brother,
- 3:47Speaker 1: That's all I gotta say. And it was the most
- 3:48Speaker 1: watched comedy on any night in nearly seven years on
- 3:51Speaker 1: Fox excepting NFL nights, and was my father top rated
- 3:55Speaker 1: comedy show on a Friday night. Congratulations, congratulations, so much time.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I'm really happy to be a part of it. Well,
- 4:03Speaker 1: you know, well how did you become a part of it?
- 4:04Speaker 1: Let's let's talk about you know I read earlier about
- 4:07Speaker 1: how you got started. Here's the deal about me. I
- 4:09Speaker 1: got started in stand up comedy, but my degree was
- 4:11Speaker 1: in mathematics. Okay, but you this is something you wanted
- 4:15Speaker 1: to do. Correct, dude, you sound like someone after my
- 4:19Speaker 1: own heart. I never met you. You had your degree
- 4:21Speaker 1: in mathematics. Math was my favorite subject in school. I nearly,
- 4:26Speaker 1: nearly like was a math major. Loved calculus. Calculus was
- 4:31Speaker 1: my favorite thing in the world when I was in
- 4:33Speaker 1: high school. UM loved it. And uh, I just got
- 4:38Speaker 1: into acting, just you know, through side sideways. And I
- 4:42Speaker 1: got into this show kind of sideways because Um, I
- 4:47Speaker 1: auditioned for a guest star in season two, and uh
- 4:52Speaker 1: that guest star they kept asking me back, and then
- 4:55Speaker 1: they cast me back again in season three, and then
- 4:59Speaker 1: and see and four they asked me to be a
- 5:01Speaker 1: regular on the show, which, by the way, it was
- 5:04Speaker 1: one of those seasons you mentioned with one of the
- 5:06Speaker 1: best ratings. So I'm just saying no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 5:09Speaker 1: you're nonimating conversation. You start, Okay, I don't care about
- 5:12Speaker 1: my boy Tim Allen. Who who I know Tim Allen
- 5:15Speaker 1: because when I was doing New Orleans Punch Bunch Line
- 5:18Speaker 1: he was the headliner. And that's when I met Tim
- 5:20Speaker 1: Allen way back then, and we performed the worst week
- 5:23Speaker 1: that you can perform in New Orleans to do stand
- 5:25Speaker 1: up comedy Martin, We're a week. Oh wow, why is
- 5:28Speaker 1: that the worst week? Because nobody's there there, there in
- 5:31Speaker 1: the streets, getting drunk there in the streets. Part you
- 5:34Speaker 1: do not pay this. Here's somebody tell jokes when you
- 5:36Speaker 1: can hear those same jokes free in the streets. Okay.
- 5:41Speaker 1: So Tim and I go way back, and and I
- 5:44Speaker 1: know his career. I followed his career, and I feel
- 5:47Speaker 1: feel that he gave me excellent advice about being myself.
- 5:50Speaker 1: And I was not just trying to be a middle
- 5:52Speaker 1: act when he was the headlining act. So I know
- 5:55Speaker 1: being around him, he's given you tremendous career advice. Tim
- 5:57Speaker 1: Hallen has correct absolutely, you know, Tim, Yeah, he really has.
- 6:03Speaker 1: He's given me great advice in terms of my Crida
- 6:05Speaker 1: also has, uh, you know, kind of opened up my
- 6:07Speaker 1: eyes and you know, how you know comedy works and
- 6:11Speaker 1: how the you know, the business of comedy works. We
- 6:14Speaker 1: get to I get to work with not only Tim Allen,
- 6:16Speaker 1: but you know Jay Leno occasionally, who is also a
- 6:19Speaker 1: comedy legend, and it's just like it's like a dream
- 6:24Speaker 1: sitting there with um, you know him and Hector Alisando
- 6:29Speaker 1: and Jay Leno I get to have scenes with those
- 6:31Speaker 1: guys like all the time, and these dudes are total legends,
- 6:35Speaker 1: and I'm just sitting there soaking and I'm I mean,
- 6:37Speaker 1: I'm not young, but I'm just soaking it all up
- 6:40Speaker 1: and like trying to trying to glean whatever I can
- 6:43Speaker 1: from these guys. Welle. The thing about it is that
- 6:46Speaker 1: because when you look at the show, you do see
- 6:48Speaker 1: prominent resumes acting resumes on the screen, you know, absolutely,
- 6:53Speaker 1: And that's that's what I love about it. But also
- 6:55Speaker 1: I love the fact that it's it's there's a love
- 6:58Speaker 1: about it because you know, Hollywood, Hollywood, you can't really
- 7:01Speaker 1: make your car payment or your horse rent, or your
- 7:05Speaker 1: kids education on a on a on a television or
- 7:08Speaker 1: a film gig, you know, because you know, just because
- 7:10Speaker 1: it premiers or somebody said you've been picked up for
- 7:13Speaker 1: a show, that doesn't mean they're going to stay on
- 7:15Speaker 1: the air. Absolutely, that's the fear of Hollywood, because they're
- 7:18Speaker 1: don guarantees. And the fact that you've been on the
- 7:21Speaker 1: show there was four years roughly, and then all of
- 7:24Speaker 1: a sudden you get counseled. Walk me through that steps
- 7:28Speaker 1: of it being counseled and then it being picked up
- 7:31Speaker 1: talk about that, Okay, well we'll see. I really think
- 7:36Speaker 1: it was, like I said, it was a business decision.
- 7:38Speaker 1: And you know, you got there's people online and people
- 7:42Speaker 1: you know, all over the place who want to say
- 7:43Speaker 1: it was a political decision. I think it was a
- 7:45Speaker 1: business decision on ABC's part in terms of the show
- 7:48Speaker 1: being Fox you know Fox Network, I mean Fox Studios
- 7:53Speaker 1: show and on an ABC on ABC, and so they
- 7:56Speaker 1: want you know, it streamlined your money and this very
- 8:00Speaker 1: very very tough television age where there's so much content
- 8:06Speaker 1: twent there and there's so much other things for people
- 8:09Speaker 1: to watching, people to seeing people to do. They needed
- 8:12Speaker 1: to they needed to, you know, like you said, Like
- 8:15Speaker 1: I said, streamline there you know their money, who who
- 8:20Speaker 1: makes it, and where it goes and how it comes from.
- 8:23Speaker 1: You know, you get a double dip if it's an
- 8:24Speaker 1: ab STU ABC Studio show on ABC network as opposed
- 8:28Speaker 1: to having to take money out as it goes along.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I think it was a business decision and I was, like,
- 8:34Speaker 1: I was devastated personally about it. Did you see it? Comment?
- 8:38Speaker 1: Did you see it happening? Are you he was? It
- 8:40Speaker 1: might not get picked up, no, but I always suspect
- 8:45Speaker 1: that it will. Do you know what I mean, if
- 8:46Speaker 1: you've ever been on television, or if you've ever been
- 8:51Speaker 1: do you know I know that you know it's already
- 8:56Speaker 1: a rough business because as a writer, you know, they
- 8:58Speaker 1: bring us on board in June, we're wrapping February, so
- 9:01Speaker 1: you have to fend for yourself between between March two
- 9:05Speaker 1: to matt you know what I'm saying, right right right,
- 9:07Speaker 1: get with your brother because you don't have a job.
- 9:09Speaker 1: And so it's interesting. But to see that this is
- 9:12Speaker 1: a show, it's with stars, prominent stars all over it,
- 9:16Speaker 1: and they get counseled and then what was one of
- 9:20Speaker 1: your what did I do next? I'm just trying to
- 9:22Speaker 1: get people understand that world that you're in because everybody
- 9:24Speaker 1: wants to be an actor. Everyone wants to come to Hollywood.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Everybody wants to say, hey, I'm the next big thing.
- 9:30Speaker 1: You know, you're an actor. We're gonna talk about later
- 9:32Speaker 1: about the flourishing varse over because I really think that's
- 9:35Speaker 1: the next level that everybody thinks they can do just
- 9:38Speaker 1: because they sound good, and that's not true. So so
- 9:41Speaker 1: so you're so you already got some multiple strings of
- 9:44Speaker 1: incomes out there, working for yourself, but this really is
- 9:46Speaker 1: one of your dominant income lanes here being on Last
- 9:50Speaker 1: man Standing, talk to us about to being counseled. What
- 9:53Speaker 1: did how did you react to it, and what were
- 9:55Speaker 1: your steps. Here's the thing I, my wife and I
- 9:59Speaker 1: have in through this before with some being Uh. I
- 10:03Speaker 1: was in the first season of Bones and Bones, as
- 10:05Speaker 1: you know, went on for nine seasons. I was not
- 10:08Speaker 1: expected to me that they would, you know, get rid
- 10:11Speaker 1: of my character and changes to somebody else. But we've
- 10:13Speaker 1: been through all this before. I was in American Dreams
- 10:17Speaker 1: Henry Walker on American Dreams, and that was canceled whatever.
- 10:20Speaker 1: So at this point when we got Last man Standing
- 10:22Speaker 1: and it all started, uh, you know, really working out
- 10:25Speaker 1: for us, we made it, you know, our decision to like,
- 10:28Speaker 1: you know, how most people need to have like you know,
- 10:31Speaker 1: I don't know what what what do you tell people?
- 10:33Speaker 1: How much savings they should have? Like how much? How
- 10:37Speaker 1: long savings should they should have? Six months? Six months?
- 10:41Speaker 1: My wife and I said we need to have a
- 10:43Speaker 1: year and a half or two because this because my
- 10:49Speaker 1: business is not about you know, everything being consistent. It's
- 10:56Speaker 1: really it's it's feast or famine, and so what we needed.
- 10:59Speaker 1: You know, we need to store in case of famine
- 11:03Speaker 1: all the time. And that's how we feel about this business.
- 11:07Speaker 1: So um, that's what we did. I mean we were
- 11:09Speaker 1: We want to explain to people why he goes to
- 11:12Speaker 1: a teen months because in Hollywood, you get paid and
- 11:15Speaker 1: I'd like to say chunks of money. Yeah, and so
- 11:18Speaker 1: so that chunks of money will can force you to
- 11:21Speaker 1: elevate your lifestyle and and then sometimes that's good, sometimes
- 11:26Speaker 1: it's bad because if the income goes away, then you stuck. Now,
- 11:29Speaker 1: if you're live in a normal everyday life, tied to
- 11:32Speaker 1: a normal everyday check, then six months works for you.
- 11:37Speaker 1: But if you if you have been married to that
- 11:39Speaker 1: chunks of lifestyle living, then you better kick out eighteen
- 11:43Speaker 1: months because so many reasons why you might not work
- 11:46Speaker 1: again in Hollywood for a long period of time. It's
- 11:48Speaker 1: tied to what they've seen you in this series. They
- 11:51Speaker 1: feel they might typecast you, they might because age discrimination,
- 11:56Speaker 1: they might not be looking for an African American male here.
- 11:58Speaker 1: They might want them more characters. So it's a lot
- 12:01Speaker 1: of things that you have to really really start wrapping
- 12:04Speaker 1: your head around when you start making these these purchases
- 12:07Speaker 1: start making these decisions to move forward. I know that
- 12:10Speaker 1: because I did many sitcoms as a writer. Mini City
- 12:14Speaker 1: comes as a producer, and I also did a lot
- 12:17Speaker 1: of casting and all that comes into play, and those
- 12:19Speaker 1: decisions makes correct exactly. Man, you get, you get for
- 12:24Speaker 1: me I personally, I mean, I get burned once and
- 12:26Speaker 1: that's it. You know what I mean, you ain't gonna
- 12:28Speaker 1: burn me again, and that's I mean, that's how it works.
- 12:32Speaker 1: With the first series I was on, and then after
- 12:35Speaker 1: that I was like, no, we need to have a
- 12:38Speaker 1: certain amount of money, and we need to have a
- 12:40Speaker 1: certain number of investments and a certain amount, you know,
- 12:46Speaker 1: going forward, so that you know, I can we can live. Absolutely.
- 12:51Speaker 1: You set a lifestyle and you want to maintain it,
- 12:54Speaker 1: you can you maintain it. But here's the thing though,
- 12:56Speaker 1: with with my word plot, Johnath think want to bring
- 13:00Speaker 1: you back on on the phone with Chuck Larrabie. He's
- 13:02Speaker 1: plays the characters Chuck larrab the long standing comedy last
- 13:05Speaker 1: Man standard. Right back more money making conversations. Hi, this
- 13:11Speaker 1: Rashwan mc. This is rash I just left. That is
- 13:13Speaker 1: out and I can't talk like that with Jonathan on
- 13:16Speaker 1: the phone. He's a vos over expert. So welcome to
- 13:18Speaker 1: money Making Conversation. I'm your host. You can hear me
- 13:21Speaker 1: live in Atlanta Charger every Monday on Busy Level eighty
- 13:24Speaker 1: and also can be heard on our heart radio podcast
- 13:26Speaker 1: Serious XM Channel one for the one h U R
- 13:29Speaker 1: Voices and Voices and on Series XM Channel one for
- 13:33Speaker 1: the two, which is on all HBCU campus. And always
- 13:35Speaker 1: tell people if you have Alexa just enabled money making
- 13:38Speaker 1: Conversation and I started delivering the good news about being
- 13:41Speaker 1: successful in the world of entertainment and entrepreneurship. My guest
- 13:45Speaker 1: who's on the phone is a renowned actor, best known
- 13:47Speaker 1: for his role as neighbor Chuck Larrabie on the long
- 13:50Speaker 1: running comedy Last Man Standing. Let me share some good
- 13:53Speaker 1: news about Last Man Standard It Got was canceled on
- 13:56Speaker 1: ABC after six seasons. It was counseled stars. I'm gonna
- 13:59Speaker 1: call hi my good friend. Now you know good friend
- 14:02Speaker 1: Tim Allen. Just upgrade my relationship with him. It debated
- 14:06Speaker 1: UH on Fox Friday this Friday night. It's seventh season
- 14:09Speaker 1: average one point eight rating an adults eighteen and four
- 14:12Speaker 1: to nine and eight million viewers airing at that a
- 14:15Speaker 1: PM time slot. By comparison, the season six premiere on
- 14:18Speaker 1: ABC drewing one point one rating in six million viewers
- 14:22Speaker 1: while they season while that season as a whole average
- 14:24Speaker 1: only at one point to rating in a six point
- 14:26Speaker 1: four million viewers. In fact, the last time the show
- 14:30Speaker 1: drew over eight million viewers was back in his fourth season.
- 14:34Speaker 1: That's when he officially came on board being the person
- 14:37Speaker 1: on the end of the phone that's a Jonathan, And
- 14:39Speaker 1: the last time the show drew at one point eight
- 14:41Speaker 1: Rarely needs a Better was in season two. It was
- 14:43Speaker 1: also a Fox most watch comedy on any night in
- 14:46Speaker 1: nearly seven years, excluding Interfair nights, and was by far
- 14:51Speaker 1: the top rated show of all Friday nights. Please welcome
- 14:54Speaker 1: back to the show, Jonathan Adams. Hello, I delayed back
- 14:58Speaker 1: out there. Jonathan. You know I I know you got
- 15:01Speaker 1: a chopped liver. Brother, Thank you. I appreciate that. Now.
- 15:05Speaker 1: One thing that you know my producer answered the phone.
- 15:09Speaker 1: He said, wow, that guy has a smooth voice. Obviously
- 15:13Speaker 1: God gave you that voice. He gave a Sean his voice.
- 15:16Speaker 1: You know you know you got the voice. How do
- 15:20Speaker 1: you keep your voice in shape? First of all? Or
- 15:22Speaker 1: do you do anything to sound the way you sound. Um.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Actually no, But here's the thing though, I hate you
- 15:31Speaker 1: you more. You know, here's the I stopped smoking and drinking,
- 15:36Speaker 1: So I don't know that years ago, right, Yeah, no,
- 15:42Speaker 1: I you know, it's just that, I mean, I don't know.
- 15:46Speaker 1: People are born with what you know. People get what
- 15:48Speaker 1: they get. You know, when you get, don't get upset
- 15:50Speaker 1: and then deal with it. Right. But here's the thing
- 15:54Speaker 1: about it. You're a voice over business correct, Yeah, very
- 15:58Speaker 1: good at it, so as and entertain a business manager
- 16:02Speaker 1: represented talent. All my life, people are always coming up
- 16:05Speaker 1: to me talking about they want to be in a
- 16:08Speaker 1: voice over business. I get two things coming to bed.
- 16:10Speaker 1: What somebody wants to be in the music business or
- 16:13Speaker 1: they want to act or they want to do voice over.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Is there a plan or there is there a way
- 16:18Speaker 1: that a person could break into the business as a
- 16:21Speaker 1: voiceover artist. You gotta keep working at it. It really
- 16:25Speaker 1: is one of those places of especially voiceover, that people
- 16:31Speaker 1: people end up hiring who they like and who they
- 16:34Speaker 1: worked with before, and voices they know. And it's a
- 16:39Speaker 1: very difficult business to break into. And it's one of
- 16:43Speaker 1: those things where you have to keep plugging at it.
- 16:46Speaker 1: You can't stop because what you mean if you they
- 16:50Speaker 1: I spent you know me, you mean you you heard
- 16:53Speaker 1: my voice. I spent six months a year just auditioning. No,
- 16:59Speaker 1: maybe even longer than that, maybe like a year and
- 17:02Speaker 1: a half before I got anything of any substance, you
- 17:06Speaker 1: know what I mean? And uh, you you have to
- 17:11Speaker 1: keep keep working at it. And I would also even
- 17:16Speaker 1: suggest taking a few workshops, because it's not really necessarily
- 17:19Speaker 1: about um uh, the the the the education that you're
- 17:27Speaker 1: gonna get from the workshop. It's sometimes it's about the
- 17:30Speaker 1: connections you're gonna get from the people at the workshop. Oh,
- 17:33Speaker 1: I was in a workshop with so and so, I
- 17:35Speaker 1: was in a workshop with whatever, and blah blah blah
- 17:37Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah blah, and um, I remember you
- 17:40Speaker 1: from this, that and the other thing, and it becomes
- 17:42Speaker 1: you become part of the community, which is really what
- 17:46Speaker 1: you need to be. Right. So let me ask you this.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Do you have an agent? Yes? I do, Yeah, I
- 17:51Speaker 1: do have an agent. I have a voiceover agent, uh
- 17:54Speaker 1: and in my voiceover and commercial agent, and I have
- 17:56Speaker 1: a manager for theatrical and everything. Okay, So just going
- 18:01Speaker 1: through the stick with the track about to be a
- 18:03Speaker 1: VARs over because like I said, it always gets asked
- 18:05Speaker 1: to be and you know, I'm a guy who has
- 18:08Speaker 1: produced talent voice over. I don't know where to sen
- 18:11Speaker 1: you what like you you caseuper limited tested. First of all,
- 18:15Speaker 1: is that gonna happen overnight? And like you said, look
- 18:18Speaker 1: at the quality of listen to the quality of mab vos.
- 18:20Speaker 1: It wasn't like I just walked to the room and
- 18:23Speaker 1: just they signed me up. It's tied to relationships and
- 18:26Speaker 1: also position yourself where people can recommend you exactly you
- 18:31Speaker 1: got it exactly right. And so that's that's what you
- 18:33Speaker 1: gotta do and you can't and and it's very frustrating.
- 18:40Speaker 1: It is. It's a frustrating business. You spend a lot
- 18:42Speaker 1: of time going, oh man, I'm just this is never
- 18:45Speaker 1: gonna wear or you sent me out on that I
- 18:48Speaker 1: don't know. And I have a um, I have a
- 18:54Speaker 1: booth in my house now basically where I not. I
- 18:58Speaker 1: don't work from it, but I do have I do
- 19:02Speaker 1: all my auditions from that booth. So uh, if someone
- 19:07Speaker 1: I'll get a script from my agent and i'll i'll
- 19:11Speaker 1: you know, read it to my do it on do
- 19:14Speaker 1: it in the booth in my house and then send
- 19:16Speaker 1: it out to the MP three to my back to
- 19:19Speaker 1: my agent and they take it, they send it to
- 19:21Speaker 1: the clients. Ask you this other because it's a very
- 19:23Speaker 1: serious question here because uh, you know, I'm connected as
- 19:26Speaker 1: you know, and so how would I want in our
- 19:31Speaker 1: opportunities for some of the military type commercial promotions around
- 19:36Speaker 1: the country. How would I get you to not only
- 19:40Speaker 1: just maybe not even just audition, but just recopy so
- 19:43Speaker 1: I can present it to them. Um, you would call
- 19:47Speaker 1: my agent what you do, or you could even start
- 19:50Speaker 1: with my publicist, which which you guys have, and they'll
- 19:54Speaker 1: get in touch with you. You know. This is what
- 19:56Speaker 1: we're gonna do today. You'll be here from Roshan McDonald today.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Just this eye works on money main conversation. So you
- 20:03Speaker 1: call for an interview, you're call for you're about to
- 20:06Speaker 1: hear the change change in your life now because of
- 20:08Speaker 1: a Sean McDonald but black. But like I said, you
- 20:11Speaker 1: know the thing about it. But that's how opportunities come
- 20:13Speaker 1: your way. That's what I'm saying. And that's what people
- 20:15Speaker 1: need to understand. It's not ever plan, it's never, it's never,
- 20:19Speaker 1: but you gotta be ready. Like you said, you have
- 20:21Speaker 1: a booth in your house, that's what Maybe I heard that.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Let me said, you're making a job out of this.
- 20:28Speaker 1: So if you if you didn't say that, then I
- 20:30Speaker 1: don't I don't go to this next conversation about hey,
- 20:33Speaker 1: if I send you some copy, can you cut something
- 20:36Speaker 1: for me so we can I can let some people
- 20:37Speaker 1: here and recommend you for this. So what what? What?
- 20:41Speaker 1: What presented that idea? What? What made you invest in
- 20:43Speaker 1: yourself like that to put a booth in they call
- 20:46Speaker 1: it loop and you can look things in your house
- 20:48Speaker 1: and the sound proof room. Talk about that, let people here.
- 20:51Speaker 1: How you have to invest in your career for opportunities
- 20:54Speaker 1: that you may they even see coming right right right, Well,
- 20:58Speaker 1: you know you said it exactly correctly. You know you
- 21:05Speaker 1: have to you present yourself. You you put yourself out
- 21:09Speaker 1: there for opportunities. You're not you're not sure you're gonna happen.
- 21:12Speaker 1: But I had actually been working as a voice over
- 21:15Speaker 1: actor a great deal, and my my I moved out
- 21:20Speaker 1: to I moved like out of town a little bit,
- 21:25Speaker 1: Like I'm forty five minutes from downtown where I live
- 21:27Speaker 1: right now, and so it gets really hard to get
- 21:30Speaker 1: to my agent's office and I thought, you know what,
- 21:33Speaker 1: since I moved out here, I need to have the
- 21:36Speaker 1: ability to to send stuff in via MP three and
- 21:39Speaker 1: not have to to slep all the way down to
- 21:42Speaker 1: UH down to Hollywood to um to get my to
- 21:45Speaker 1: get my auditions in and just you know, they send
- 21:50Speaker 1: me stuff and it and it works. And but you
- 21:53Speaker 1: do have to invest in a good microphone and a
- 21:55Speaker 1: good set up in some places where and find a
- 21:57Speaker 1: place that's quiet in your house and make sure that
- 22:00Speaker 1: that place stays quiet and then sound proofn blah blah
- 22:03Speaker 1: blah blah blah blah blah, bah blah blah blah. So yeah,
- 22:07Speaker 1: it became a necessity for me because of hers. First
- 22:10Speaker 1: of all, because my location, but also it's a business move.
- 22:14Speaker 1: But before we go, I want to talk about a
- 22:16Speaker 1: balanced life. You're a native of Pittsburgh, your happy mare,
- 22:20Speaker 1: and you have two beautiful daughters. How have you been
- 22:22Speaker 1: able to balance all that over the years? You know,
- 22:24Speaker 1: because like I said, there have been peaks and valleys
- 22:26Speaker 1: and there's a lot of uncertainty and you still have
- 22:29Speaker 1: you happily married and you have two beautiful daughters. How
- 22:32Speaker 1: have you been able to balance that? I've been married
- 22:34Speaker 1: for twenty five years and uh, you know, yeah, I Uh,
- 22:41Speaker 1: I was gonna say blame, but I really, you know,
- 22:44Speaker 1: like my wife is the one who really helps me
- 22:47Speaker 1: out there. She'll she'll you know, she'll get me there,
- 22:51Speaker 1: she'll get me going, She'll get me understanding that you know,
- 22:54Speaker 1: we need to take a vacation and we need to
- 22:56Speaker 1: do this, and we need to do that. And you know,
- 22:58Speaker 1: I just say yes year because she's almost n right,
- 23:03Speaker 1: So you know it's uh, it's you know, it's all
- 23:09Speaker 1: about her, and I really try and keep that, keep
- 23:12Speaker 1: that relationship going. You know, twenty five years is a
- 23:15Speaker 1: long time, especially in Hollywood. That's like that's like seventy
- 23:18Speaker 1: five years after the world. You know, I want to say,
- 23:21Speaker 1: I want to follow up on that because Hollywood, unlike
- 23:25Speaker 1: any other business, is driven on fear because you know,
- 23:28Speaker 1: you just never know when you might miss. It kind
- 23:31Speaker 1: of holds you hostage because you leave town, you you
- 23:34Speaker 1: feel you might miss an audition, you know, relationship or
- 23:38Speaker 1: being somewhere. So you always on that little rabbit, that
- 23:40Speaker 1: little rabbit trail, that little rabbit trail for opportunities and
- 23:43Speaker 1: then leading that and I did that. I'm willing to
- 23:46Speaker 1: tell anybody. I did that far too long, but a
- 23:49Speaker 1: lot of success came out way, don't get me wrong.
- 23:51Speaker 1: But I also know that I could have done it differently.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I could. I could have done it different I could
- 23:56Speaker 1: have slowed down. I could have I could have believed
- 23:58Speaker 1: in myself a lot more, in the in the in
- 24:00Speaker 1: the places that put in place a lot more. And
- 24:02Speaker 1: I congratulate you, my friend. Uh, I hope that you.
- 24:05Speaker 1: We will be hearing from my own my representatives about that.
- 24:08Speaker 1: I was very sincere about that audition opportunity because I
- 24:12Speaker 1: am that type of person that have opportunities for people
- 24:15Speaker 1: of certain talents, and I created money making conversations to
- 24:20Speaker 1: bring to the world your type of talents. And you're
- 24:22Speaker 1: respectfully saying, do you keep winning, my friend, keep doing
