- 0:00This shit ain't nothing to me, man. This is boxing
- 0:03before dark. Boxing. Boxing. Boxing. Back. Back.
- 0:06Back. Back. Back. Before. Before. Before. Before.
- 0:11Boxing. Boxing. Boxing. Boxing before dark. This
- 0:15is boxing before dark. Here we go. Boxing before
- 0:25dark. We are back, bitches. We're here to talk
- 0:28the fights. Shanada, how's Japan treating you?
- 0:32Leaving Japan is more fucking work than getting
- 0:35here. So many forms, Leo. So many forms. I have
- 0:39also been informed that I have to go and tell
- 0:43the government that my, like, resident card is
- 0:47expiring. Like, they know. They set the date.
- 0:51How do... Yeah, that... Why do you have to go
- 0:54inform them of their expiration date? Apparently
- 0:58there is a form I'm supposed to fill out informing
- 1:01them that I am not trying to stay in Japan. All
- 1:07right. I don't get it. Japan informs. Name a
- 1:13more iconic duo. And I got to go in person because
- 1:17I have to use my little stamp to stamp it. Your
- 1:22little stamp? Like, you have a personal one?
- 1:25Yeah, yeah, the little, like, seals. Have I never
- 1:28shown you? No. It's, like, the official little
- 1:33seals, and then you've got, like, your name on
- 1:36it. Holy shit. You have to get a seal? This one
- 1:42is not, like, an official official one. It's
- 1:45the in -between one. So it's legally binding
- 1:48on contracts. but it's not an official one because
- 1:53I didn't fill out a form. You didn't register
- 1:57your seal? Yeah. Essentially? Yeah. Wow. But
- 2:03anything I stamp it on is, like, legally binding.
- 2:06It's like a signature. Yeah. Interesting. You
- 2:10have to register it. That's fucking really dumb.
- 2:13I had to get it made so I could rent an apartment.
- 2:18Because you can't sign. With the company I'm
- 2:22with, I can't sign it. I have to stamp it. Why
- 2:30do the Japanese try so hard to not accept foreign
- 2:34money? They go out of their way to do it. It's
- 2:39really stupid. Well, and also, it seems way easier
- 2:43to fake a stamp. than a signature to me. I would
- 2:50think so too. Or someone could steal this. And
- 2:54suddenly they're you? Exactly. Come on. I don't
- 2:57get it. Maybe this is us, like Westerners, not
- 3:03understanding like they're more integrous society.
- 3:11Yeah. Nobody would just steal it because... Why
- 3:15would I steal it? I have my own stamp. Maybe.
- 3:20It's just really a hangover from when the upper
- 3:25class had servants doing everything. So you could
- 3:31have somebody stamp something in your stead?
- 3:34Yeah. But it's a cool souvenir. It is. That would
- 3:41be something I would really like. i like stationary
- 3:45i i'm a super hipster i have a typewriter so
- 3:49i i'll tell you if you ever come to japan you
- 3:52can find little kiosks where you design your
- 3:55own stamp because that's where i got this made
- 3:57was a mall kiosk like just a machine that you
- 4:00type it in damn that's pretty cool i do have
- 4:05custom stamps um one that i use like it's Instead
- 4:10of wax seals, I have wax seals and I use them
- 4:13very sparingly just because it costs extra to
- 4:17send a wax seal through the mail. So I have a
- 4:20little rubber stamp that says Leo in the middle
- 4:24and has a little catchphrase I put on it. Excellent.
- 4:30I used to... I still do sometimes. I used to
- 4:34carve stamps just for fun. to make like cards
- 4:38and stuff for people. Yeah. It's a nice relaxing
- 4:43hobby. It's a lot easier than carving wood. Yeah,
- 4:48because you're usually carving it out of rubber,
- 4:49right? Yeah, you can get harder like vinyl and
- 4:54stuff, but I just buy the really soft rubber.
- 4:58It's a relaxing hobby. Sending mail is a relaxing
- 5:04hobby. Yeah. Some of my friends get weird little
- 5:07cards with deformed rabbits because I'm not a
- 5:10good artist. But it's handmade. It is. That's
- 5:16not a guarantee. That's some elbow grease went
- 5:20into it. You will tell it is handmade. Alright,
- 5:26let's get into a little bit of news here. Before
- 5:29we start, a handmade survey. bxng .co slash survey.
- 5:36I want to hear what your thoughts are on the
- 5:38titles. What do you consider more prestigious
- 5:41or more corrupt, etc. And the Muhammad Ali Boxing
- 5:46Revival Act. It has left committee in the Senate,
- 5:51but we still have time. LVXmedia .net slash b
- 5:56-sides. If you go there, you can find the contact
- 5:59information for your senators with the link at
- 6:01the top. And yeah, tell them that this shit sucks.
- 6:07Boxing's not perfect. We would be the first amongst
- 6:11the many to tell you that it's not. But this
- 6:14Mabra, this shit ain't it. Not like this. It's
- 6:20not going to help. It's going to create more
- 6:23problems than it solves. But into the news. Oscar
- 6:29Collazo is facing Joey Canoy. On June 20th. Who
- 6:36is Joey Canoy? He's not... Who was the dude that
- 6:42just beat Jerusalem? Something... I also don't
- 6:48remember his name. It's not Tataran, and it's
- 6:53not the dude that just beat Jerusalem. Siwakolwa
- 6:58Kuse. So if it's not them, I don't care. Some
- 7:0732 -year -old, which is ancient for minimum weights,
- 7:10named the baby face. Yeah. Yeah. I am not excited
- 7:19about this one. Yep. It's not the fights that
- 7:24we want. I'm not sure what Oscar De La Hoya thinks
- 7:30minimum weights are worth. But this type of fuckery,
- 7:36they're not worth that. It's making it worse.
- 7:40Yeah. Nobody wants to watch minimum weights as
- 7:44it is. And if you're not making unification fights,
- 7:47then why the fuck am I going to pay attention?
- 7:50Yeah. He's wasting Collazo. Collazo could actually
- 7:54be quite the star for minimum weights. I know
- 7:59that bar is pretty low, but he's really good.
- 8:02He is. Let him show it off. Against, like, top
- 8:08quality opposition. Who the fuck is Joey Canoy?
- 8:12For real. Some Filipino guy I've never heard
- 8:17of. Well, speaking of not getting to show it
- 8:28off, Sky Nicholson is elevated to full Titleist
- 8:33at 122. Not the way... I think she herself said
- 8:40that she would have rather fought for the title.
- 8:45I think most fighters would rather fight for
- 8:48the title. Yeah, rather than get the email that
- 8:53they're elevated. It's too bad. She gets memed
- 9:02a lot because she's pretty, but she's not bad
- 9:06as a fighter. She's not bad. She could have given
- 9:11some good work if she had been given the opportunity
- 9:16to fight for her. Yeah, Sky's not my favorite,
- 9:21but I mean, not having her fight for the actual
- 9:26title is, again, just boring. I guess. I don't
- 9:32like when they do this. You should have to win
- 9:34a title. Ellie Scottney. What are you doing?
- 9:43Yeah. Went out of your way to be not undisputed
- 9:48rather than defend your undisputed crown against
- 9:54what would be a pretty solid payday for you.
- 9:58Because Mashroom They show up for Skye Nicholson.
- 10:03She is a draw, for sure. Stupid. Yeah. Boxing
- 10:15gonna box, I guess. Yeah, Boxer's gonna box.
- 10:21Murat Gassiev is facing Tony Yoka. Well, might
- 10:27be. It's looking... pretty firm. It's not a guarantee
- 10:31yet. It's not a lock, but it's definitely in
- 10:36the works. That's pretty funny. Didn't Yoko just
- 10:43lose? He was supposed to fight Lawrence Okoli,
- 10:47and that fell through because Okoli popped for
- 10:50HGH. I'm confusing Tony Yoko with who's the heavyweight.
- 11:02David Allen? French guy. French heavyweight?
- 11:10Maybe he's not a heavyweight. I don't know who
- 11:12I'm confusing him with. Some black French guy.
- 11:16Carlos Tacan? Maybe. Let's see. Now that you
- 11:25say it, now I really want to figure it out. Looking
- 11:31at the heavyweight picture of France. I don't
- 11:39see any name here that recently fought. Anyways,
- 11:46doesn't matter. Maybe he's not even a heavyweight.
- 11:49I have no idea. I have no idea what I'm thinking
- 11:52of, Leo. It is early on a Saturday. Well, Murat
- 11:57Gassiev, the WBA regular. Titleist will be defending
- 12:02his quote -unquote crown sometime later this
- 12:07year. So isn't that nice? I mean, I like title
- 12:13fights, but this will probably fall through again.
- 12:18Half a title. What's interesting about the WBA
- 12:23regular at heavyweight is there was a guy I want
- 12:31to say his name was Char with two R's. And he
- 12:36held the WBA regular title for so long. When
- 12:41the WBA tried to phase it out, he sued them to
- 12:45keep the WBA regular. Excellent. So the WBA regular
- 12:55at heavyweight has a... It's a legal precedent.
- 13:04remember this guy. Is it Mahmoud? Is that his
- 13:07name? Yeah, Mahmoud Char from Syria originally.
- 13:13But he's German? Somehow? Fighting out of Germany
- 13:17sounds correct. Sounds like... I remember that
- 13:22being the case. He's supposed to fight somebody
- 13:27and Dan Rayfield, if you ever mention the fight
- 13:33to him, He'll, like, block you on social media.
- 13:38Mamou Char versus somebody. God, I need to remember
- 13:44who that is just so I can pester him. Upcoming,
- 13:50Troy Isley. He's a middleweight contender that
- 13:57I keep up with. He signs with Salida Promotions.
- 14:01He'll be making his debut on the June 14th car.
- 14:04That's a Sunday. It'll be taking place in Grand
- 14:07Rapids, Michigan. Nice. I know you like this
- 14:13kid. I do. I'm fond of Troy Isley. His nickname
- 14:18is the Transformer. It's pretty cool. Jermall
- 14:28Charlo. will be returning on the Spence Zoo Undercard.
- 14:37Is this just going to be like a bunch of people
- 14:40who should be retired? An Unkoff? Yeah. Unfortunately,
- 14:46I think it might be. This is going to turn into
- 14:53a meme card. I'm calling it now. It's just going
- 14:57to be... Silly matchups. Well, speaking of silly
- 15:06matchups, Adrian Broner was talking about making
- 15:10a return to the ring. The name being floated
- 15:15is Chris Eubank. Chris Eubank is washed, but
- 15:23I think he can beat Broner at this point. The
- 15:29whole Broner Sega is just making me sad, to be
- 15:32honest. It is getting... It is in that territory
- 15:36now. Like, it's like, man, what are you... What
- 15:39are you doing? You're... Apparently, he's making
- 15:43money doing this streaming with some dude named
- 15:48Dean. Yeah. I've only seen, like, the awful clips
- 15:54from that. Same. I only see the... It just looks
- 15:58sad. Yeah. And that picture of Broner where he
- 16:04looks like he's gonna have triplets. There's
- 16:06no fucking way he's actually coming back and
- 16:09boxing. Dude is dying of cirrhosis or something.
- 16:17He does look pretty unwell. To say the least.
- 16:21He looks... Yeah, he looks like he has some lingering
- 16:29hangover. Constantly, though. Yeah, it persists.
- 16:38Oh, unrelated to boxing, but I learned a fun
- 16:42hangover fact that I think everybody probably
- 16:44thought, but science has finally proven. So you
- 16:48know how you feel better after you have that
- 16:50awful hangover shit? Yes. It's true. That actually
- 16:57gets rid of a lot of the booze toxins and stops
- 17:04your intestines from uptaking them more, so that's
- 17:08why you feel better. So maybe Broder just needs
- 17:13to take a massive dump and he'll be back to his
- 17:16old self. But yeah, there was a scientific paper
- 17:24coming out explaining why you feel better after
- 17:27your hangover shit in the morning. Huh. That
- 17:35makes sense why people refer to it as hangxiety.
- 17:41The hangover, like the negative feelings, not
- 17:45just from feeling sick, but like the negative
- 17:47feelings from a hangover, maybe because you're
- 17:50re -uptaking. stuff that's in your gut. Yeah.
- 17:54Interesting. I just thought it was really funny
- 17:57that they spent real money on that. Oh, man.
- 18:06Next bit, Diego Pacheco will be returning in
- 18:10July. Opponent yet to be determined. However...
- 18:16Pacheco's career is so weird. He, um... He went
- 18:22free agent. He signed with a new management company.
- 18:26And then... He kind of just, like, disappeared.
- 18:31For, like, a year. Yeah, like, every time he
- 18:35gets a little bit of momentum, he just disappears.
- 18:42Yeah. Looks like he's back with Matchroom. Which
- 18:46is good. Good that he has, like, a steady...
- 18:50relationship with a promoter again. It didn't
- 18:55look like that manager did really anything for
- 19:00him. But while his opponent is yet to be determined,
- 19:05the co -main has been set as Andy Cruz versus
- 19:10Albert Bell. IBF Eliminator. Nice. As the IBF
- 19:18does, I don't know who Albert Bell is. And recycling
- 19:22Andy Cruz, who just lost a title fight. IBF doing
- 19:30IBF things. If this is the right guy, he's 28
- 19:35-0. Albert Bell. Who is he with? Uh... His promoter
- 19:46on BoxRec is listed as Vic Green, who I don't
- 19:49know. Never heard of him. The company is Pulse
- 19:55Boxing. Pulse? Pulse, yeah. What the hell? Albert
- 20:01Bell. I have never seen this guy before. I don't
- 20:07recognize him either, but 28 -0 is a good record.
- 20:12Has he fought anyone, though? Going back to 2020?
- 20:20No. Yeah, and he mostly fights in Toledo. And
- 20:31Atlanta. Vic Green of Pulse Boxing. Interesting.
- 20:45Well. Typical IBF situation. A dude you never
- 20:51heard of. He does the dance. He fights the fights.
- 20:56And here he is. Getting himself into a final
- 21:01eliminator. Yeah, who knows? Could be another
- 21:06upset, though. If Andy Cruz loses, that's gotta
- 21:11be fucking raps. You would think so. Last thing.
- 21:21This one's a little bit complicated, but we'll
- 21:25do our best to get through it. So, Norair McCallion,
- 21:30the WBC Cruiserweight Champion, is looking to
- 21:34fight Jai Obataya. However, the WBC has ordered
- 21:41that Norair must make a mandatory defense against
- 21:47David Benavidez. Okay, a little funky, but whatever.
- 21:53However, again, Benavidez allegedly turned down
- 21:58a fight with Jayo Pataya. A brain full of fuck.
- 22:04Like, what is... Yeah, yeah, this is like a bad
- 22:09romance plot. Love triangle going on. I wouldn't
- 22:15be surprised if... the belts are trying to push
- 22:20out Opitaya because he's with Zufa. Wouldn't
- 22:25surprise me either. And that's why the WBC ordered
- 22:29the Benavidez fight. Benavidez has said he doesn't
- 22:33want to fight Jai unless he has real belts. And
- 22:38Mikaelian's probably just looking for the most
- 22:40money. Well, that would be Benavidez, surely.
- 22:47Would it? Or would Zufa offer a metric shit ton
- 22:51to get Jaya fight against somebody with a real
- 22:55belt? Right now, David Benavidez is one of Turkey's
- 23:02favorite toys. That's true. But I mean, so is
- 23:10Opetaya. True. That's also true. Either way,
- 23:15it's the same people paying for it, probably.
- 23:21I just think he would make... Norair would make
- 23:25more fighting the traditional route than trying
- 23:31to scrape something together with Zufa. Yeah.
- 23:39Honestly... Opataya might look like the easier
- 23:43fight, though. Benavidez looked fucking scary.
- 23:49And Opatay's been, like... He's been rocked by
- 23:54some not -so -great fighters recently. Mikaelian
- 23:58might think he's the easier fight for the same
- 24:01money. Not that either of them's easy, but between
- 24:07the two, Opataya looks... more vulnerable than
- 24:11Benavidez did. True. Benavidez looked fucking
- 24:16scary against, uh, Zerto. And Opataya looked
- 24:23vulnerable against Glanton. Yeah. So, uh, yeah.
- 24:32I can see where the Belts are trying to push
- 24:35Opataya out and Makalian's looking for a fight
- 24:38that he thinks he might possibly be able to win.
- 24:42Against, like, a top name at that. Yeah, yeah.
- 24:45Like, Opetai's still a big name, but he definitely
- 24:50looks more vulnerable than Benavidez did. So,
- 24:56it kind of makes sense to me. And I honestly,
- 25:00I think Benavidez just doesn't want to fight
- 25:02for not belts. Yeah, if you're going to take
- 25:07a... big challenge like Obataya might want to
- 25:11have something on the line. Something he can
- 25:17win, not just retain. Yeah. But that's the situation.
- 25:28One of those ones we'll have to keep watching,
- 25:30see how it develops. They really have done a
- 25:35good job of making cruiserweight interesting
- 25:37right now. Like, I never thought we'd spend so
- 25:42much time talking about cruiserweights. I think
- 25:45that Benavidez moving up, even if it's temporary,
- 25:51is what makes this division interesting. Otherwise,
- 25:54it's just Jaya Pataya kind of dominating nobodies.
- 25:59Yeah. Anything more for the news? No, I think
- 26:09that kind of covers everything. Last cursory
- 26:15glance. The only thing I found funny lately,
- 26:20have you seen that Nakatani got a mural painted
- 26:24after the Inoue fight? I think in his hometown.
- 26:30I thought it was an awful fucking mural because
- 26:33it's his face all fucked up after the fight.
- 26:37But Nakatani loves it. He started selling merch
- 26:40of it. And his eyes swollen shut and he's all
- 26:45cut up. I don't know. If you're going to paint
- 26:49a picture of someone, make it a nice picture.
- 26:52Yeah, it should be something flattering, right?
- 26:54Yeah, but Nakatani's selling t -shirts now, so
- 26:57I guess he likes it. Yucasta Valle wearing a
- 27:06thong to the weigh -in. Interesting choice. Amanda
- 27:14Serrano wearing Paw Patrol underwear. I didn't
- 27:22even know they sold those in adult sizes. I would
- 27:25not have thought so either. Man, like, I guess...
- 27:33credit to mvp for letting the ladies show out
- 27:37like however they want yeah you can't police
- 27:41what people wear as long as it's covering but
- 27:44yeah covering the goods yeah that the uh the
- 27:53timeline is full of mvp weigh -in photos or videos
- 27:58fair enough i guess Makes sense, given that it's
- 28:03that time of the week. Yeah, I mean, they do
- 28:08the same thing with the boys. Yeah, of course.
- 28:11It's not just because the chicks are wearing
- 28:14scantily clad bikinis. But, let me get some notes

- 31:45It starts with Friday. May 22nd, and why do I
- 31:50not have these separated? I am so good at this.
- 31:58Okay, Golden Boy on the zone at the SAP Center
- 32:06in San Jose. We have quite three stoppages. That
- 32:14all took place in round three. Darius Fulgham
- 32:16stops Joanki Urrutia in three. Robin Safar, split
- 32:22decision win. Jordan Panton, the Patriot, gets
- 32:27a round three stoppage. Scrappy Ramirez gets
- 32:33a UD win. And Amari Jones, stoppage in round
- 32:37three. It was a decent card. It was a good one.
- 32:44Very enjoyable. We've been dunking on Golden
- 32:48Boy, but this one was good. That being said,
- 32:54I don't remember any of the fights in particular.
- 32:59I would say this was a Golden Boy version of
- 33:04a 5 -star event. They brought out a ton of their
- 33:09names. Yeah. But, yeah, nobody, even though there
- 33:15were, like, three big KO3s, they don't really
- 33:19stand out in my memory. Like you said. Yeah,
- 33:24like, I remember enjoying it, but I don't have
- 33:28any, like, particular talking points. Like, the
- 33:31knockouts were good, but none of them were, oh
- 33:34my god. And then the decisions, the fights were
- 33:39fine. but like i don't remember there being any
- 33:43wars where i'm like you guys got to go watch
- 33:45this yeah unfortunately this one didn't have
- 33:51a lot of staying power it was good at the time
- 33:55but but not something i'm gonna tell people to
- 33:59like go find replays of yeah don't you don't
- 34:02necessarily have to go back for the replay of
- 34:04this one But I mean, they're guys that were supposed
- 34:09to win one and they all looked good. Would you
- 34:15say the same applies to Gloria Giza? Is this
- 34:22one worth... For some reason, if for whatever
- 34:26reason a boxing fan did not watch it, should
- 34:28they go back and see it? The pacing on this was
- 34:31fucking horrible, Leo. Jesus Christ. So this
- 34:35started at midnight here, and I was like, I'll
- 34:38just stay up. I can do this. And I would have
- 34:42been fine if there wasn't two fucking hour -long
- 34:46breaks in the middle of the broadcast. I'm not
- 34:50gonna lie. I fell asleep in round five of the
- 34:54main event. Not because it was boring, but because
- 34:57it was, like, 7 .30 a .m. Like... The pacing
- 35:06on these cards at these big Turkey events is
- 35:09just atrocious. I know you have times that you
- 35:13announced internationally, but if you're going
- 35:16to do that, you have to have swing fights or
- 35:19something. The two biggest breaks. First thing,
- 35:28Mizuki Hiruta gets the UD over Mai Soliman. She
- 35:33came out as Bastet. That was her getup. That
- 35:39was pretty cool. Honestly, I was a little disappointed
- 35:42in her ring rock robe this time. It was a little
- 35:45underwhelming for what we're used to with Mimi.
- 35:49Honestly, she lost the outfit battle in this
- 35:52one. Soleiman had a fucking awesome outfit. Was
- 35:57it gold? Gold and black? Black. Yeah, black with,
- 36:01like, gold Egyptian designs. Wow, well, Egyptian
- 36:05chick. Yeah, but I'm just saying. But, um...
- 36:10How do I put it? People were dunking on Mizuki,
- 36:16but I thought she very clearly won more rounds.
- 36:20But Solomon has power. I was surprised. She rocked
- 36:24her a couple times. It's definitely a lot more
- 36:27competitive than I was expecting. I thought this
- 36:30was going to be a wash. I thought Soliman was
- 36:34brought in because she's Egyptian. And that was
- 36:37it. Turns out she was brought in because she
- 36:40hits hard. She's a legitimate contender. Yeah,
- 36:43yeah. Like, she had Mizuki rattled a couple times.
- 36:49But Mizuki just outboxed her, I think. And her
- 36:53counters were pretty on point for most of the
- 36:55fight. There were rounds where she lost, but
- 36:58I mean. I thought it was a pretty clear win.
- 37:02Competitive, but clear. Yeah. Yeah. But I'm going
- 37:09to watch Solomon now, because she seems like
- 37:11she could get knockouts. It's a rarity in the
- 37:15ladies' ranks. She's got ten wins with six knockouts,
- 37:19but I didn't really recognize any of the people
- 37:22she was knocking out. Baristas. But apparently
- 37:28that's not only the people she could knock out.
- 37:35I thought this was a fun fight. So she's at super
- 37:48flyweight. The... The real threat to super flyweight
- 37:56is... Gabi, right? Gabi moving up. Yeah, I don't
- 38:02think anybody beats Gabi. But... If Soliman could
- 38:09get Hiruta buzzed, Gabi fucking stops her. Yeah,
- 38:15but I've been saying that the whole time. Yes,
- 38:17you have. You absolutely have. No, I love Mimi,
- 38:22but she doesn't have the power to bother Gabi
- 38:25and... Gabby will just piece her up. But... The
- 38:34cause of hour -long break number one. Frank Sanchez
- 38:39stops Richard Torres in two. I was not expecting
- 38:45this. No. I really thought Frank was going to
- 38:50show his age. And knee problems? Yes, especially
- 38:57the knee problem at this advanced age, which
- 39:00I don't give a shit what it says on paper. Like,
- 39:03somebody put a picture of him in Discord and
- 39:07said, like, quit fucking around. This guy's definitely
- 39:0933. And it looks like a 45 -year -old man. Because
- 39:15he is a 45 -year -old man. He's Cuban 33. Right.
- 39:21Yeah, I thought he was going to show it. but
- 39:23apparently not he did not but yeah man he just
- 39:29iced torres i know torres doesn't have the best
- 39:34defense at all but i did not expect him to get
- 39:38just blown out in round two like that was a heavy
- 39:42knockout he to his credit uh to torres's credit
- 39:48he did stand up to beat the count but then he
- 39:54fell back over so yeah at least he wasn't like
- 39:59dead body cold on the ground that's true and
- 40:03he was flopping around game trying to clearly
- 40:07trying to get up but yeah that was uh that was
- 40:13pretty nasty yeah yeah yeah american heavyweights
- 40:17in the garbage jeez we got nothing But who does
- 40:25Frank Sanchez fight next? He's the IBF mandatory
- 40:29now. But Usyk's gonna drop that belt. If he's
- 40:35gonna... He'll drop it before he takes Sanchez.
- 40:40Not that I consider Sanchez a threat, really.
- 40:44But he's not gonna pay enough money. Right. Caballel
- 40:51in Germany is a better payday. Dubois 3 in UK
- 40:57is probably a better payday. I don't want to
- 41:00see Dubois 3. And Moses Atalma is the WBA. So
- 41:06all of them are better paydays than fucking Frank
- 41:13Sanchez. Do you think they do Atalma Sanchez?
- 41:25That would be interesting. If Frank looks like
- 41:29he did there, I could see him giving Atalma some
- 41:34problems before he wins. Before Atalma wins,
- 41:37I mean. The IBF rankings are all kind of weird
- 41:45right now. But Atalma's number one and two are
- 41:50empty. Sanchez is three. I assume they haven't
- 41:53been updated. Torres was four and Atalma was
- 41:57five. That would be a big step up for Atalma,
- 42:05but he needs a big step up. He's just been blowing
- 42:07everyone out. Yeah, he blows out all his step
- 42:10ups. I really do see Frank Sanchez going that
- 42:15way. Just lasting a little longer. But we've
- 42:19been saying that about everyone. True. That's
- 42:23also very valid. I don't know what they do with
- 42:29Torres now. David Allen? Why not? They're both
- 42:42on the skid. I mean, if David Allen beats Richard
- 42:49Torres, it's over. Yeah, that would be raps.
- 42:54That would 100 % be raps. At the best, you're
- 42:59going to be some undercard guy fighting fucking
- 43:05random heavyweights that they can find. I still
- 43:10kind of want to see Torres Anderson. Make the
- 43:16two Americans fight. See who's the least bad.
- 43:20But then that takes away two of our cope hopes.
- 43:26Yeah, but... Takes away one of them anyway. The
- 43:30hope is dead. Let's be honest. Neither of these
- 43:32guys is gonna win a belt. Yeah, we got nothing.
- 43:38At heavyweight? Shit, dude. We got nothing. Let
- 43:41me see. I mean, those are the two top American
- 43:46heavyweights right now, right? Wilder's probably
- 43:51up there. From number one, Gerald Miller, Deontay
- 43:56Wilder, Richard Torres is number three. Kingsley
- 44:00Iba is number four. Price Taylor, Brandon Moore,
- 44:06Jermaine Franklin, Dante Stone, John Cantrell,
- 44:11and Demasian Van Hooter. Anderson's not even
- 44:15on the list? He's been inactive. Ah. Jake Paul's
- 44:2313. Jesus. Fucking dire. That is fucking dire.
- 44:33Holy shit. I didn't know he was local. Kingsley
- 44:39Iba. He lives in Phoenix. Ah, nice. He's fighting
- 44:45on a card on June 20th. Here in Arizona. Let's
- 44:55see if I can go to that. Jack Catterall. UD over
- 45:04Shakram Giyasov. Catterall looked good. I don't
- 45:13like Catterall, but he looked good in this fight.
- 45:15Yeah, it was pretty one -sided. Pretty heavily
- 45:21one -sided. And it really does look like What's
- 45:28-His -Name in Philly improved Catterall's power.
- 45:32It seemed like he was hitting pretty hard. 119,
- 45:43108, 118, 109, and then 116, 111. So there's
- 45:52a knockdown in that. 11 to 1, 10 to 2, and then
- 45:588 to 4. Yeah, he had GSL down early. Yeah, okay.
- 46:09I honestly didn't think GSOV was going to see
- 46:11the final bell after that first round. Yeah,
- 46:16he held on to his credit. That's 147. He's in
- 46:31line for Raleigh's WBA title. Ah, okay. Since
- 46:40Raleigh is retired, I wonder if they're gonna...
- 46:45If he's gonna drop the belt. Jack Catterall as
- 46:54a full welterweight champion in 2026. He's also
- 47:01position number one for Haney's belt. I'm not
- 47:17sure what I... Jack Catterall just continues
- 47:20to fucking impress me. I think it's because my
- 47:24expectations are usually low. And I'm just, you
- 47:28know, not... Never expecting him to look as good
- 47:32as he does. Yeah, well, I just don't like him,
- 47:37so I always cheer against him. So... I mean...
- 47:44But he looked good, I have to admit. Another
- 47:52cause of the hour -long break, Hamza Shiraz stops
- 47:58Alan Begich in two. Chat was saying Begich took
- 48:05a dive. I don't know about a dive, but he sure
- 48:12wasn't. excited to get back in the fight i don't
- 48:19know this this fight just kind of sucked all
- 48:22around it was not good yeah i don't have much
- 48:31to like much positive to say about it um I mean,
- 48:39Shiraz beat up an old German guy. Yeah, look,
- 48:42a 40 -year -old man. Congrats, you're a full
- 48:44champion. So that's great. We'll see if you want
- 48:51to mix it up with the other champs. We've got
- 49:01Munguia, Iglesias. He doesn't want Iglesias.
- 49:09Who does? Alexander Usyk stops Rico Verhoeven
- 49:22at the end of the 11th. Question mark. It was
- 49:27a bad stoppage. I agree. Like a real bad stoppage.
- 49:37Was that who I think it is? The ref? Yeah. It
- 49:46was, what's his name? Mark Lyson, not Howard
- 49:50Foster. No, it wasn't Foster this time. I mean,
- 49:57Rico did way better than anyone was expecting,
- 50:03but I don't think he was up on the cards. You
- 50:06don't? No. I was just going off of vibes. I thought
- 50:14Rico was probably winning most of the rounds.
- 50:18I think... I think people had such low expectations
- 50:24that they were giving him rounds that were close.
- 50:31Do you know what I mean? Like everyone expected
- 50:33him to be shit. So when he outperformed being
- 50:35shit, they were leaning towards him. Especially
- 50:39the fans. Yeah. But Usyk didn't look quite himself
- 50:48either. But that was just a bad stoppage. And
- 50:59honestly, I think Usyk would have... We'll never
- 51:03know, obviously, but I think Usyk kind of had
- 51:06him figured out and Rico was starting to tire.
- 51:10I think the 12th round would have went to Usyk
- 51:13and he would have won on the cards if he didn't
- 51:16stop him in the 12th. I thought he could have
- 51:19stopped him in the 12th. Rico went down pretty
- 51:22hard and he got up and... While Usyk was teeing
- 51:29off on him, nothing was really landing clean.
- 51:33And I thought Rico was actively defending himself.
- 51:37And that stoppage, as you already said, was fucking
- 51:42dog shit. It was a dog shit stoppage. And it
- 51:46just makes boxing look corrupt. Like they're
- 51:49protecting Usyk. Yeah, that's honestly what it
- 51:54looks like, is that they were protecting Usyk.
- 51:57even though he i think he could have easily not
- 52:01well not easily but he could have gotten the
- 52:02stoppage in the 12th if they had let it go which
- 52:06they should have mark lyson i know you're listening
- 52:11you fucking butthole but I hadn't realized how
- 52:19much boxing training Rico does for his kickboxing.
- 52:23Apparently he's been with Peter Fury for like
- 52:25nine years or something. And he used to spar
- 52:31Tyson sometimes. Makes sense why he would want
- 52:41to get one back for the Fury camp. Yeah, well,
- 52:47I'm just... I think Rico's a very proud man.
- 52:51Like, he's never gonna come into a fight and
- 52:54not try and win. But if they do a rematch, I
- 53:02think Usyk beats him quite easily, probably early.
- 53:07Usyk's always better in rematches. Right. Like,
- 53:12the... One of the comparisons that came up in
- 53:17the immediate aftermath was Floyd Mayweather
- 53:21and how few rematches he's ever had to do and
- 53:25how he looks better. Who was it? Jose Luis Castillo
- 53:31and Marcos Maidana. Both fights, people argue
- 53:35he lost. Then he gives the rematch and fucking
- 53:39embarrasses them. Usyk himself has looked better
- 53:44every time he refights somebody at heavyweight.
- 53:48Yeah, he did with Dubois and Tyson Fury. And
- 53:53AJ, I would argue. Yes, that's also true. I don't
- 53:59want to see a rematch, but that stoppage leaves
- 54:02a real bad taste in my mouth. Yeah, I agree.
- 54:05Not gonna lie. But... Rico is saying he's going
- 54:11to stay in boxing. I don't know who they'll have
- 54:14him fight next, but... Frank Sanchez. I mean,
- 54:24that could be fun. I do have to give Rico props.
- 54:30I thought he would gas because kickboxing is
- 54:32such a shorter fight. Like, they only fight five
- 54:36three -minute rounds. In title fights. Yeah,
- 54:40but he didn't. Not terribly. Like, he had a better
- 54:44gas tank than a lot of heavyweight fighters.
- 54:50So, I'd watch Rico in boxing again, but I don't
- 54:53want to see him fight Usyk. If he's gonna stay
- 54:56in boxing, I want him to go down the line. Work
- 55:00his way up. I know he's old, but... One of the
- 55:07fights, one of the possible fights that I've
- 55:09seen come up was him fighting AJ. Rico, I mean.
- 55:15As a, what is it? AJ being the meme killer. Oh,
- 55:23yeah. I mean, Rico is definitely there to be
- 55:28hit. And AJ hits a lot harder than Usyk does.
- 55:33True. He does. Might be a good warm -up fight
- 55:42for AJ versus Tyson. Although it's kind of a
- 55:47dangerous one to come back to after his long
- 55:50layoff. Yeah, he's got that Pranga fight coming
- 55:53up in a few weeks. I guess I kind of just missed
- 56:00that news. I don't follow heavyweights real close.
- 56:04Yeah, he's fighting... Christian Pranga on July
- 56:1325th. But as a meme crossover fight, this was
- 56:20actually a good one. Yeah. Like, Rico did well.
- 56:26And... I... I don't know... why. Like, I've heard
- 56:32so many rumors about Usyk's family and stuff,
- 56:35but Usyk didn't seem like he was as locked in
- 56:38as usual. Or maybe he just didn't take it as
- 56:42serious because it's a kickboxer. I think it's
- 56:46a mix of both. He was saying in the immediate
- 56:49post -fight interview, he was talking about how
- 56:52his family's in bomb shelters. Yeah. And he got
- 56:58the call, like, That they had just gone in the
- 57:01day of the fight. But then he says later on social
- 57:06media, I was just trying to make it interesting.
- 57:12Yeah, that sounds like cope. Yeah, I think so
- 57:14too. Like, your family being in a bomb shelter,
- 57:20that's fucking frightening. So if you're distracted,
- 57:24that makes perfect sense. That's completely understandable.
- 57:28I do kind of sympathize with the people who are
- 57:33like, why hasn't he just gotten his family out
- 57:35at this point? Like, that war's been going on
- 57:40for a long time, and Usyk has enough money. He
- 57:42could have brought them to Spain with him or
- 57:44something. Could have brought them to anywhere
- 57:46with him. Yeah. Well, he was training in Spain,
- 57:50I think. That's the only reason I said Spain.
- 57:52Oh, okay. I thought he was living there or something.
- 57:59Well, like, I think he was living there during
- 58:02training and everything. I don't know. It seems
- 58:06weird to leave them in... Are they in Kiev? It
- 58:14seems weird to leave them in a war zone when
- 58:17you have that much money. I know they kind of
- 58:21use... Like, Ukraine kind of uses the boxers
- 58:24for morale and stuff, but... I don't think it's
- 58:30worth leaving your little kids in a war zone.
- 58:36But maybe it's more complicated. Maybe it's more
- 58:41complicated. Maybe the government is pressuring
- 58:46him and stuff. Anything more for Gloria Giza?
- 59:07No. All right. Last bit of notes. Phone line

- 1:02:24-U -L. All right. Into the previews. Thursday,
- 1:02:33June 4th. Eye of the Tiger at the Montreal Casino.
- 1:02:43Katayev, if you remember him, he fought David
- 1:02:46Morrell. He's on this. And the interim WBA light
- 1:02:52heavyweight title is on the line in the main
- 1:02:54event. Albert Ramirez versus Lerone Richards.
- 1:02:59It is Eye of the Tiger, so I am expecting a bunch
- 1:03:03of one -sided beatdowns and early knockouts.
- 1:03:07Eye of the Tiger has very careful matchmaking.
- 1:03:11Yeah, they do. In the opposite direction, but
- 1:03:18still careful matchmaking, Friday, June 5th,
- 1:03:21ProBox TV at the College Park Center in Arlington,
- 1:03:25Texas. Do I know anybody on here? Like any alum
- 1:03:32that have been on ProBox for a minute? Emilio
- 1:03:38Garcia, I think I've seen. Well. Even if you
- 1:03:45don't recognize the names. Doesn't matter. Yeah,
- 1:03:48Probox puts on... They put on good competitive
- 1:03:50fights. So, enjoy that. Saturday, June 6th. It's
- 1:03:58D -Day. Lest we forget. Kamada Promotions. It's
- 1:04:05gonna be on Lemino. So, good luck watching this
- 1:04:09outside of Japan. But this card is stacked. So
- 1:04:14that three -day event that got canceled in Kyrgyzstan,
- 1:04:18they just took all the best fights from those
- 1:04:21three days and put them on one card. As they
- 1:04:25should have from the beginning. Yes, I agree.
- 1:04:30But this is actually a stacked card. People should
- 1:04:32try very hard to find this one. Who do we got?
- 1:04:38I'm just going to list them all. Shuri Oka. versus
- 1:04:42Adilet Shetkachkin -Bekov. It's a six -round
- 1:04:49super flyweight fight. Seiya Meguro versus Nurzigit
- 1:04:53Dushabaev. Six rounds at super bantamweight.
- 1:04:59Aoi Yokoyama versus Vince Paras. Eight rounds
- 1:05:03at bantam. Yokoyama is one of my favorites. Yeah,
- 1:05:07he's worth watching. Yeah. Masamichi Yabuki.
- 1:05:11Versus Renee Calixto. This is going to be a war.
- 1:05:17This is going to be a war. I'm super excited
- 1:05:20for this one. Yabuki is always exciting. And
- 1:05:24so is Calixto really. IBF super flyweight champ.
- 1:05:30Willy Baldo Garcia. Versus Andrew Maloney. So
- 1:05:34that's fun. This is what you're doing. Instead
- 1:05:39of facing fucking Bam. A. Willy Baldo? I mean,
- 1:05:43if my choices were get the shit beat out of me
- 1:05:46by Bam or face Andrew Maloney. Fair. Fair point.
- 1:05:56Kenneth Lover versus Michael Angeletti. Angeletti?
- 1:06:04I don't know. He's American. Lover is another
- 1:06:11one of my favorite young guys. I'm hoping he
- 1:06:18gets a knockout in this one, and nobody's going
- 1:06:21to see it, but, you know. Would be nice if he
- 1:06:26got a highlight reel that goes around the internet.
- 1:06:33Will we get a highlight reel out of Luis Neri
- 1:06:36versus John Real Casimiro? No. Casimero has looked
- 1:06:43like he's on death's door for fucking years.
- 1:06:48Neary is gonna knock this man out. And if he
- 1:06:50doesn't, I am going to be so disappointed. And
- 1:06:53I fucking hate both these guys. Absolutely can't
- 1:06:57stand either of them. So maybe I'm hoping they
- 1:07:00both break an ankle somehow. But... This is the
- 1:07:09one... So I'm going to miss this because I'm
- 1:07:12going to live fights in Korakuen Hall. But this
- 1:07:15is the one I wanted to take my friend to the
- 1:07:17bar to watch. Because there's so much hot tea
- 1:07:21about this fight. And the whole history of it.
- 1:07:25It's too bad it ended up on the 6th. I'd already
- 1:07:28bought tickets. Booty. But yeah, the main event
- 1:07:35is just a villain fight in Japan. Lesser of two
- 1:07:39evils, cheering? I mean, I'm gonna have to pull
- 1:07:45for Neri. I fucking hate Casamero with a passion,
- 1:07:49and his fans are so delusional. I don't know
- 1:07:52how anyone still cheers for this man. Well, at
- 1:07:56least Luis Neri has at least paid his penance,
- 1:07:59right? When he got stomped by Inouye? Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:08:05I mean, Neri is definitely the lesser of the
- 1:08:08two evils. But I just don't like either of them.
- 1:08:17But no, this card is stacked and it's fucking
- 1:08:19atrocious that it's stuck on Lemino and nobody's
- 1:08:22gonna see it. Maybe Dazon will pick it up. I
- 1:08:27don't know. It would be really nice, but I doubt
- 1:08:30it. matchroom on the zone at the Sheffield Arena.
- 1:08:40This one, this is the one that Galalia Fai fell
- 1:08:44off. But we do have Leo Atang in a six rounder.
- 1:08:55And that's about it. Josh Padley versus Aqib
- 1:08:58Fiaz is the main event. Do you know who Aqib
- 1:09:03Fiaz is? No idea. Okay. I just know the people's
- 1:09:09electrician is... Yeah, you got it here for Padley.
- 1:09:17Yeah. There's some sort of bullshit belt on the
- 1:09:22line, isn't there? I think the EBU? Yeah. Anyways,
- 1:09:32we'll be watching The Electrician. Yeah. Last
- 1:09:36thing, Saturday, June 6th, Zufa Boxing 7 in Burnmouth.
- 1:09:45I only have the top three fights. Steve McKenna
- 1:09:48vs. Casey Streeter. Jack Massey vs. Shavon Clark.
- 1:09:53And Chris Billum -Smith vs. Ryan Rozicki. Rozicki's
- 1:09:59Canadian. Yes. But I don't think he's ever fought
- 1:10:08outside of Canada. I'm expecting a CBS beatdown.
- 1:10:18Yeah, he's never fought outside of Canada. Yeah.
- 1:10:24He looks like the stereotypical lumberjack Canadian.
- 1:10:28It's kind of funny. But that's all we got. On
- 1:10:35the docket. D -Day is actually pretty stacked.
- 1:10:43You could watch boxing literally all day. Because
- 1:10:46you've got Japan, the UK, and then... Also UK.
- 1:10:49Oh, I guess the Zufa is also UK. I was assuming
- 1:10:52it was American. You could storm a beach in the
- 1:10:56evening if you wanted. Yeah. I mean, if you start
- 1:11:01drinking when you're watching the Kameda card.
- 1:11:04You'll be primed to storm a beach. Have you seen
- 1:11:16this Japanese kickboxer chick? Her name is Mona
- 1:11:21Kimura. She does this thing where she hops on
- 1:11:25one foot and then just kicks. Oh, I do know her.
- 1:11:28Like she does the right side kicks. Yeah. She
- 1:11:34uses her kick as a jab somehow. It's super impressive.
- 1:11:41And people seriously struggle with how to get
- 1:11:45around it. I think it's a good... She's the embodiment
- 1:11:53of the adage that Bruce Lee coined, which was,
- 1:11:58I do not fear a man who's practiced 10 ,000 kicks.
- 1:12:01I fear the man who's kicked... Practice one kick
- 1:12:0410 ,000 times. Yeah. She is a master of that.
- 1:12:08That one fucking kick, and she will fuck you
- 1:12:11up with it. I don't... This might sound racist,
- 1:12:17but I'm gonna push through. She reminds me of...
- 1:12:20Who's the one from... Is it Street Fighter? Chun
- 1:12:22-Li? Chun -Li, yeah. Yeah. She really reminds
- 1:12:27me of that in real life. She does... She gets
- 1:12:31the comparison a lot. I've seen some of her videos
- 1:12:33on social media, like her training videos and
- 1:12:36stuff. Yeah. And people always give her the Chun
- 1:12:39Li. Yeah. It is really impressive. I don't know
- 1:12:44how she, like, keeps her leg in that position
- 1:12:47for such extended periods of time. One training
- 1:12:51video I saw was she does a treadmill. It's not
- 1:12:55a slow setting, but, like, she hops just over
- 1:12:58and over and over. With her leg up in the sidekick
- 1:13:02position? That's crazy. That's what made me think
- 1:13:06of the Bruce Lee thing. You have perfected the
- 1:13:11one kick, and nobody can figure it out somehow.
- 1:13:15It's pretty fucking impressive. Yeah, well, using
- 1:13:19a kick as a jab is madness. She came up on my
- 1:13:27feed, so I thought I'd... Ask if you've seen
- 1:13:30her. Yeah, I didn't recognize her name, but I
- 1:13:34have definitely seen her. And she is also super
- 1:13:40cute. I wasn't going to mention that part, but
- 1:13:46yeah. I'll mention it for you. Thanks. She's
- 1:13:50fucking adorable. Now I'm not such a perv. I'm
- 1:13:54just confirming what you already said. She also
- 1:13:56does the Chun -Li hair sometimes. Yeah. That's
- 1:14:07all we got on the docket. We are heading into
- 1:14:10D -Day. Parting words. Find a way to watch the
- 1:14:15Kameda card. I don't usually push the Kamedas,
- 1:14:18but that card is stacked. It's a good card. Yeah,
- 1:14:23if you like people under 100... 30 pounds. You've
- 1:14:27got to find this card. Probably under 120 pounds,
- 1:14:34actually, now that I think about it. No, the
- 1:14:38Neri Casimiro is at 126. Yeah, that's under 130.
- 1:14:45Yeah, so you got it with 130. Also, that's the
- 1:14:49worst fight on the card, I swear to God. got
- 1:15:01nothing to add. That is going to do it for this
- 1:15:06edition of Boxing Before Dark. We'll see you
- 1:15:09on the other side of the stack June 6th. Bye!
- 1:15:30A boxing fan watch MMA. Okay, here's my pitch.
- 1:15:36The reason that a boxing fan would consider watching
- 1:15:40MMA in the year of our Lord, 2026, is that MMA
- 1:15:44is cheaper and more accessible than it's ever
- 1:15:46been in its lifetime. Our biggest organization,
- 1:15:50the UFC, has done away with pay -per -views.
- 1:15:52It's now just like a $15 a month payment to Paramount
- 1:15:56+, and you get 40... plus fight cards a year
- 1:16:00um and it's not just the UFC you have organizations
- 1:16:04like 1FC and Ryzen that put stuff directly on
- 1:16:09YouTube for free to watch and you're able to
- 1:16:13see a wide variety of high level skills like
- 1:16:15this is not just like amateur or shit unless
- 1:16:18we're talking about the heavyweight division
- 1:16:20but boxing fans can relate to uh the gap of skill
- 1:16:23there um you know these are some of the most
- 1:16:26talented athletes in the world and they're fighting
- 1:16:29especially if i can point out the muay thai stuff
- 1:16:32that happens in one fc it's phenomenal um another
- 1:16:36reason that a boxing fan would want this would
- 1:16:38want to jump in now is that i think unlike a
- 1:16:42lot of the cards you're used to watching in boxing
- 1:16:43mma cards are worth watching from the start like
- 1:16:49you don't have to wait until the co -main to
- 1:16:51see something that isn't complete nerd shit most
- 1:16:55of the times you're seeing even if it's a lower
- 1:16:58skill uh feeling you're still seeing fights that
- 1:17:03are exciting and compelling to watch um we just
- 1:17:06came off the backs of UFC 327 and that card top
- 1:17:10to bottom was like absolutely stacked so great
- 1:17:13example you can watch the whole thing for you
- 1:17:17know in bits and pieces or from start to finish
- 1:17:20and paramount plus right now, if you subscribe,
- 1:17:22so paramount, give us some money. We're doing,
- 1:17:25doing marketing for you. So that would be my
- 1:17:28pitch. Perfect. If you do decide to give MMA
- 1:17:31a shot, then why don't you check out ultimate
- 1:17:33effing casuals? It's kind of the same format.
- 1:17:35We talked the fights that happened in the past
- 1:17:37weekend. Then the stuff coming up this weekend,
- 1:17:40give it a shot. It's ultimate effing casuals.
