- 0:00The B-side and boxing.
- 0:02B-side shit.
- 0:03B-side.
- 0:04B-side.
- 0:05And the B-side.
- 0:05You gotta B-side.
- 0:07The B-side.
- 0:08B-side.
- 0:08B-side.
- 0:09B-side.
- 0:10That B-side thing.
- 0:11This is the B-Sides boxing podcast.
- 0:24Time to fucking boogie.
- 0:25Boxing B-sides.
- 0:27Does the B in B-side stand for boogie?
- 0:29The boogie sides?
- 0:31Drip not on the boogie sides?
- 0:32I think that's a good one.
- 0:34Maybe not.
- 0:35Nice.
- 0:35Are we back in the 80s?
- 0:37Yes.
- 0:3770s.
- 0:38We're trying to get those disco balls.
- 0:41Louis in the news.
- 0:44Man, we're here to talk a whole lot of boxing.
- 0:46We're going to get ourselves back onto our old rhythm here.
- 0:51So let's get right into the fucking deal,
- 0:54because we got a lot.
- 0:55For now, Conor Ben is cleared to fight in the UK again.
- 1:01Just thought I'd tell him.
- 1:03You know, I was thinking about it.
- 1:05What if Conor Ben had been banished from the UK,
- 1:10was fighting and living probably, and fighting in the US,
- 1:16and then people were bitching about egg prices,
- 1:19and now Conor Ben is leaving, are egg prices going to go down?
- 1:22Less demand, the supply will be able to cover it now.
- 1:28Yeah, now that Ben's not here.
- 1:30Somebody did the math, he had to be eating like 30 eggs a day or whatever.
- 1:35Not unfeasible, but that's also like kind of dumb.
- 1:40Fucking gross.
- 1:40Yeah, he would be massive if he was eating 30 eggs a day.
- 1:4330 eggs and his cholesterol.
- 1:47He would smell bad.
- 1:49Yeah.
- 1:50Oh, egg farts, bros.
- 1:55Yep, so Conor Ben cleared to compete again in the UK.
- 1:58So like good riddance.
- 2:01Good thing you're going back.
- 2:03I guess.
- 2:04Listen, man, he's exciting.
- 2:05Yeah, I guess.
- 2:07He's just down to scrap and bang, like no real technique or anything,
- 2:12just power and throwing punches.
- 2:15He's an exciting guy to watch.
- 2:16I think I'll admit that.
- 2:17Yeah, for sure.
- 2:18It's just like being matched with the right competition.
- 2:22It's usually not great.
- 2:24That's where he shines the most.
- 2:27I feel like boxing.
- 2:29He's exciting for boxing.
- 2:30I'll say that, like as much as he sucks and as annoying as he is,
- 2:34you just need that one guy who just is down to stand there
- 2:37and throw punches with power and hope for the best.
- 2:40Yeah, I would like him a lot more if he wasn't such an ass outside of the ring.
- 2:44Yeah, I mean, he is kind of a douchebag.
- 2:46Yeah, that's always that's really the only problem with it is, yes,
- 2:50you're right, like that type of figure, the in-ring performance type,
- 2:55even if it's not super high quality, nonetheless, it's entertaining and exciting.
- 3:01It seems to me that he thinks he's gotten to where he is strictly on his own merits.
- 3:06And that's absolutely not the case.
- 3:08That's why I don't like him.
- 3:09Yeah.
- 3:10Fucking douchebag riding his father's coattails.
- 3:13He's such a nepo baby.
- 3:15Yeah, like dudes that are like one that comes to mind that fits this motif very well
- 3:22is a while ago, Ruslan Provodnikov.
- 3:25He was a guy that did not give a shit about anything but punishing you.
- 3:29That was it. That's all he wanted to do.
- 3:31And it was great. He's a fan favorite.
- 3:33Everybody loved him.
- 3:34He was a little bit of a character out of the ring, but it wasn't, I don't know, of arrogance.
- 3:41He's still a little eccentric.
- 3:43So, I don't know, there's, I guess, different types.
- 3:47Yeah, and sometimes you just don't like people because you don't like people.
- 3:51Speaking of unlikable people, let's move into some recaps here.
- 3:55Friday, November 15th.
- 3:57That's how far back we're going for this one.
- 3:59This was the Jake Paul Mike Tyson card in Dallas, Texas.
- 4:05Yes, let's just kick it off here.
- 4:08This one, I don't recall much, Niraj Goyat, UD over Winterson Nunes.
- 4:13I remember it being super boring and Niraj being, I don't know, really showy,
- 4:22even though he wasn't really doing anything.
- 4:25Yeah, showboating for no reason.
- 4:27Right. And apparently he has like a lot.
- 4:32I think he's getting into seven digits of a social media following in India.
- 4:38So I guess congrats on that.
- 4:41I don't know, maybe if you're going to box, try being good at it.
- 4:44Just a suggestion. Yeah.
- 4:46Moving up, Bruce Carrington, UD over Dana Coolwell.
- 4:50This was an eight rounder and I was a little bit disappointed with Bruce Carrington's performance.
- 4:56Given what we have, what I've come to expect of him,
- 5:01I admit that my expectations are built a little bit on like media hype.
- 5:09But he did seem to have the goods, right?
- 5:13There was substance to all of the shit that people were saying about him.
- 5:17But this one, like question mark, who the fuck is Dana Coolwell?
- 5:22You're going down to an eight rounder.
- 5:24You say because you want to be on the Tyson card because you're from the same part of Brooklyn that he is.
- 5:29Very cool story. But this is not the type of shit you should be taking to decision.
- 5:34Just my thoughts. Anyone else?
- 5:37I agree. Yeah, it was disappointing for the hype around Bruce Carrington.
- 5:43Yeah, I want to I don't want to be too hard on him for it.
- 5:47It could be jitters. It's very possible.
- 5:50This is the biggest card he's ever been on.
- 5:52Got to give him a one time pass. Sure. Yeah.
- 5:55You have enough night. It happens. It fucking happens to everyone.
- 5:59So it's fine. Not well.
- 6:00We'll see how you how you carry on from here.
- 6:04Well, and he did win. Right. Like convincingly, it's not like it was close.
- 6:09It was just I was expecting this is the type of shit you should be.
- 6:12Yeah, you should be ending this early.
- 6:14It's really what it was. Mm hmm.
- 6:17This one, I can't recall Shadasha Green split decision over Melinda Wattpool.
- 6:23Yeah, I don't remember anything about this.
- 6:25I can't recall that at all.
- 6:27What's that Lucas body majority decision over Armando Casamonica
- 6:32coming off of that Ashton Silve knockout, that like scary one where it's weird.
- 6:39I think that this was it expanded on what was happening in the Silve fight,
- 6:45which was he was losing until he won.
- 6:48And it seems like that Armando was able to kind of replicate
- 6:53that success a little bit that Ashton was having without getting caught,
- 6:58you know, overextending.
- 7:00And Lucas doesn't get I don't think he gets a pass for this one.
- 7:05The writing is on the wall, in my opinion.
- 7:08It's been written on there, but he's plateauing of it.
- 7:11I think so. Or showing his limitations.
- 7:15And they seem pretty steep.
- 7:16It's not something I think he's going to overcome very, very easily.
- 7:20I have to admit, I don't remember this one much either.
- 7:23It's been a while.
- 7:25There's somebody in Discord that just loves Lucas body.
- 7:30And I don't know why.
- 7:31I did.
- 7:34That's odd person to be a fan of.
- 7:36Yeah. I mean, we all have our odd fixations.
- 7:40I have. I get it.
- 7:41I get it.
- 7:42I'm a Nick Ball fan.
- 7:43Well, Nick Ball's crossed into the mainstream, I would say.
- 7:46I was Nick Ball fan before that.
- 7:48You remember you were you were all there.
- 7:50You were all there. We were.
- 7:52We have the seats.
- 7:53We have the receipts in the fucking the tapes.
- 7:56You were there before. It was cool to like Nick Ball.
- 8:00Man, after the little roundup we did,
- 8:04we stayed back and talked afterwards about some of these top three fights.
- 8:08Mario Barrios split draw with Abel Ramos for this was the WBC.
- 8:13Walter Wey title was on the line.
- 8:15Barrios like, what the fuck is this very cool to put on a very entertaining fight
- 8:21and in front of such a big crowd. Awesome.
- 8:24But if you're supposed to be the welterweight champion,
- 8:26one of the welterweight champions, like, what the fuck is this?
- 8:29Abel Ramos is long removed from his best days,
- 8:33which weren't that great to begin with.
- 8:36So yeah, I think Barrios has just put a target on his back with this performance.
- 8:41Everybody's going to want a shot at his belt now.
- 8:44Unfortunate for him.
- 8:45He's going to get paid like and he can choose probably between a few people.
- 8:52Yeah, I was thinking like of the people who should who I think should get priority
- 8:59would be the other three titleists and Stan Jonas is part of the PBC stable as well.
- 9:05So that one would be the easiest one.
- 9:08Brian Norman with top rank and then Boots with match room.
- 9:12Not so much still.
- 9:14I also kind of like that this was on this card because it was an all action fight
- 9:20that was close. Like it's it's a good fight for casuals and Mario Barrios
- 9:25always has great walkouts.
- 9:26A few of my casual friends were sending me like, what the fuck is this?
- 9:32This is awesome type.
- 9:33Yeah, that's that's how we do it.
- 9:36That's how Barrios does it anyway.
- 9:38Sometimes the theatrics are cool if they're done properly.
- 9:42I always like his walkouts.
- 9:44Yeah, that's just me.
- 9:46Makes me think of the the UFC light heavyweight champ, Alex Pajero.
- 9:52He does like an Amazonian kind of thing.
- 9:56Yeah, it really reminds me of Camacho.
- 10:01Good one.
- 10:02Like I always assumed Mario Barrios was a Camacho fan.
- 10:05Yeah, that would make a lot of sense in more ways than just the walkout.
- 10:11Moving up, Katie Taylor gets the UD over Amanda Serrano.
- 10:16You were both saying you thought Katie Taylor was that was the right decision.
- 10:21Am I recalling that correctly?
- 10:22I had Katie winning.
- 10:23OK.
- 10:23Like really close.
- 10:25But I think on my scorecard, it was she won by one round.
- 10:30Like I agreed with one of the judges.
- 10:33Yeah, I can't be too hard on the decision, even though it didn't go the way that I thought it should have.
- 10:38Because like you had said, it was really close.
- 10:42Katie Taylor getting the nod this time isn't it's not a robbery just because you don't like the decision.
- 10:47The fight's really close and it's exciting.
- 10:49And the person that you want to win loses doesn't make it a robbery.
- 10:53Amanda didn't get robbed.
- 10:54Sorry.
- 10:55There's a lot of headbutts.
- 10:56Yes, she did get docked a point for them, though.
- 10:58So not sure.
- 11:00What else you want? You want her to get disqualified?
- 11:04I don't think they were bad enough to get this call.
- 11:06No, they weren't.
- 11:07No, I think I said this the other day, but that's how Katie Taylor fights.
- 11:11Yes.
- 11:12And like Amanda Serrano was doing nothing to avoid the headbutts.
- 11:18She was also coming in headfirst constantly.
- 11:22Katie Taylor must just have the best skin in boxing because I don't think she's ever been cut from a headbutt.
- 11:28I can't recall if she has off the top of my head.
- 11:31But yeah, not.
- 11:33That cut was gross though.
- 11:35It was.
- 11:35The Amanda Serrano cut.
- 11:38Yes.
- 11:38Cut.
- 11:39I did not enjoy that.
- 11:41I really think they probably could have stopped that fight early over that cut.
- 11:46Yeah, would have ended up going the same way regardless of when it was stopped if it had been.
- 11:51I think there's two factors at play here that I don't know if they can be compared to.
- 11:56Here that I don't know if they cancel each other out, but drip one of them that you had mentioned that like a Serrano when when you're not sure who to score how to score it.
- 12:06People tend to favor whoever is being more aggressive and that might be what why people were upset that Serrano lost.
- 12:15But on the other hand, people who are cut and bleeding tend to get scored against because the cut the blood looks bad on you.
- 12:24So I'm not sure what do you make of those two factors?
- 12:28I mean, they definitely score damage.
- 12:30But also, I mean that damage from my head.
- 12:33Was the damage from a head butt or is it accidental?
- 12:35Like, yeah, that's a head butt, right?
- 12:37Yeah, I mean, but Taylor definitely targeted it afterwards.
- 12:40Yeah, of course.
- 12:41Yeah.
- 12:42I mean, any good boxer.
- 12:42You would.
- 12:43What did you have to report?
- 12:44The thing is like Amanda was just hitting leather.
- 12:46Like she looked like she was doing a lot, but at the end of the day, she wasn't really doing much.
- 12:50I think the first round where she rocked Kate Taylor that was probably her best round.
- 12:54But maybe a second was pretty good too, I guess.
- 12:56But like anything after that, she just walked Kate Taylor would like fell up, you know, cover herself.
- 13:02And then Katie would explode, flurry Amanda real quick and piece her up.
- 13:07Then they would clinch and reset.
- 13:08So even with the point deduction and she still won, it kind of tells you that like Serrano didn't do enough.
- 13:14Right.
- 13:15Even though it looks like she did, but she wasn't really doing much at all.
- 13:18But also you have to look at it from like us, like boxing connoisseurs compared to like the casual viewer.
- 13:24They just see Serrano pushing back and don't want a lot of punches at Kate Taylor.
- 13:28But what we're seeing is like, yeah, what we're seeing is like, all right, you're hitting all gloves, hitting arm.
- 13:33And that's about it.
- 13:35Those might be a good strategy.
- 13:37Like Canelo did it to Callum Smith, but that's not those aren't scoring shots.
- 13:42Yeah, but the thing is like, Canelo Smith didn't flurry and piece up Canelo.
- 13:45He just ate the shots, didn't really retaliate.
- 13:48Difference is again, Kate Taylor would back up a few steps, wait until Serrano either threw her, I guess, punches
- 13:55or she would wait for an opening, just flurry.
- 13:58And then she pieced her up a lot.
- 13:59Like I think if you watch her back, you'll see Serrano, she got hit a lot towards the middle and late rounds.
- 14:04Like she was just getting decked.
- 14:06Yeah, Katie had her hurt a couple times.
- 14:08Like Serrano was rocked two or three times in those late rounds.
- 14:13And I hate that everybody is just talking about the CompuBox numbers.
- 14:18As like Drip said, half of those didn't land.
- 14:20I don't think there is no way she landed a hundred more punches than Katie Taylor did.
- 14:26Even if they did, something to remember is the old Jim Lampley refrain.
- 14:33Anytime they when the CompuBox numbers were brought up after any fight on an HBO broadcast,
- 14:39you would say this is academic.
- 14:41This doesn't fucking count for anything.
- 14:43It doesn't matter if you get a hundred more punches.
- 14:45Did they hurt Katie Taylor more than Katie Taylor's punches hurt Serrano?
- 14:49Probably not. Doesn't seem so anyway.
- 14:53I think Katie's punches were much more effective.
- 14:55Like Drip said, she maybe didn't land as many, but they were the ones she landed were doing more damage.
- 15:02And they were well placed.
- 15:05They were more effective, which is one of the scoring criteria.
- 15:09Yeah, definitely. It's yeah, it's I don't know.
- 15:13Yeah, it didn't go the way I'd hoped, but that shit's not a robbery.
- 15:18Okay, moving up to the main event.
- 15:21Jake Paul gets the UD over Mike Tyson.
- 15:24Eight two-minute rounds.
- 15:28How was this a professional match?
- 15:30I know we talked about this before, but what the fuck, Texas?
- 15:33Yeah, come on.
- 15:35Nathan, we were talking about it on MMA show.
- 15:38It was that they went to Texas because of how lax their sanctioning is.
- 15:47The fighter health testing is just like, are you breathing?
- 15:50Is your heart pumping?
- 15:52Cool.
- 15:53All right.
- 15:53Have fun.
- 15:54And that's like really it.
- 15:56And they picked that.
- 15:57So that's why they were there.
- 15:58Tyson looked like as far as professional boxing goes, he looked every bit of 60.
- 16:06Even though he's a few years shy of it.
- 16:08I'm just rounding it up.
- 16:09He looked very much like a 60 year old man.
- 16:11He was in fantastic shape for a 60 year old man, but that shit's not going to even fucking
- 16:18clown like Jake Paul is going to do better than that.
- 16:21His upper body movement still fast.
- 16:24Yes, but the legs are like, oh, does it does even have legs at this point?
- 16:31I was really waiting for him to like stumble and fall trying to move.
- 16:35Yeah, it was not a pretty sad state of affairs overall.
- 16:42Jake Paul looked fucking terrified, which I don't blame him.
- 16:46It's Mike Tyson.
- 16:47Yeah, but even at 60 years old, I would probably shit myself walking in like him looking at
- 16:53me across the ring like, oh my God, what am I doing here?
- 16:56This is a terrible idea.
- 16:58I think that's exactly what Jake Paul did.
- 17:01That's why he stayed 10 feet away at all times.
- 17:04Yeah, that was one of the things that the I'm going to call them out of towners, the
- 17:10non boxing media outlets that were covering this.
- 17:14People were expecting Mike Tyson to be that same scary guy and he might have looked apart,
- 17:18but he didn't.
- 17:19He wasn't able to play it anymore.
- 17:21I stand by Jake Paul being a net positive from what I've heard.
- 17:25Like I saw reports saying that he's done with this boxing clown show stuff.
- 17:30That would be good.
- 17:31I don't know how true that is, but.
- 17:33He seems like a great promoter.
- 17:35Yeah, he's a very good promoter.
- 17:37Oh, fantastic promoter.
- 17:38I think he's done a lot for boxing, honestly.
- 17:41Right.
- 17:42Net positive.
- 17:43New fans, new eyes.
- 17:45If he gets 100, we'll just use round numbers, 100 people to watch.
- 17:50If 10 of those people become more attached to boxing and if one of those becomes like
- 17:56a hardcore fan, that to me is worth it.
- 17:59Yeah.
- 18:00I think he's definitely turned some of the kids on to boxing, as it were.
- 18:05Be good with the Jake Paul shit.
- 18:07Sweet man, we put some time on that.
- 18:09All right.
- 18:10So let's move into Saturday, November 16th.
- 18:14This was the Latino night in fucking Saudi Arabia.
- 18:18Very interesting placement of that.
- 18:22We talked a bit about these.
- 18:23They had the dancers.
- 18:26I really like the folklorico.
- 18:27Yeah.
- 18:28Is that the right?
- 18:29Yeah, I really like them.
- 18:32So one just from the bottom up, because there's actually quite a few interesting fights.
- 18:37I have kind of have them out of order here.
- 18:39But Ziad Al Mayouf gets the majority draw over Juan Carlos Ramirez.
- 18:45Al Mayouf is a Saudi boxer that they're really trying to shoehorn into the whole scene and
- 18:54it's not going very well.
- 18:56This was not a majority draw, but it's in Saudi Arabia.
- 19:00So yeah.
- 19:01What can you expect?
- 19:02Oscar Duarte.
- 19:04This is the same dude I think got beaten by Ryan Garcia a while back.
- 19:09Yeah.
- 19:10First, Botersone Akhmedov.
- 19:11I thought Duarte looked pretty good in this fight, actually.
- 19:15He definitely did not look like the same guy who lost to Ryan Garcia.
- 19:19Seems like he went back to the lab, put some stuff together.
- 19:22So very cool.
- 19:24William Zepeda, split decision over Tevin Farmer.
- 19:27He got knocked down in the seventh with a just beautifully timed shot.
- 19:32I think Tevin Farmer is back.
- 19:34Yeah, I was really impressed with Tevin Farmer.
- 19:37The Tevin Farmer is fucking back.
- 19:40Just like the Murataya one where I was a little bit more, I don't know, leaning more towards
- 19:47Murataya.
- 19:48This time, I'm not so sure that Zepeda got that one.
- 19:53I'm not sure what to make of it.
- 19:54Yeah, I think Farmer kind of got fucked, to be honest, which seems to happen to him a
- 20:00lot.
- 20:01It's unfortunate.
- 20:02I hope he's getting paid extra.
- 20:05That twitch of his still scares the shit out of me, but I guess I have to take it back.
- 20:10The doctors seem to know what they're doing because he looks good.
- 20:14But that involuntary twitch is terrifying.
- 20:19It's unnerving for sure.
- 20:21It looks like a sign of something very serious, but yeah, apparently it's not that big a deal,
- 20:28I guess.
- 20:29He did take two years afterwards before he really fought anybody, so I guess the doctors
- 20:34and trainers and everybody knows what they're doing.
- 20:39They are professionals.
- 20:40I kind of thought Farmer probably won that one, actually.
- 20:44I think he did, too.
- 20:46Everybody is saying Zepeda looked like shit.
- 20:48I don't think that's true.
- 20:50I didn't think he looked like his usual self.
- 20:52I just think Farmer looked really good.
- 20:55That might be why Zepeda didn't look so great because Tevin Farmer was on point.
- 21:02Anyways, I think Farmer won the moral victory on that one at the very least.
- 21:09Yep.
- 21:10Interim WBC, lightweight titles on the line.
- 21:13So this puts Zepeda in line, number one in line for Shakur Stevenson.
- 21:18Gross.
- 21:19Right.
- 21:20I was going to ask, Drip, because one of your local boy, Tevin Farmer, was able to make
- 21:29Zepeda look kind of silly.
- 21:31Can Shakur Stevenson do the same, given the differences in power disparity, for example?
- 21:37Oof.
- 21:38Can Shakur...
- 21:39Yeah.
- 21:40Can Shakur replicate Tevin's performance or do better?
- 21:47Probably do better, if that's got to say, right?
- 21:49Yeah.
- 21:50I don't know.
- 21:51I'm not so sure.
- 21:52I don't know, actually.
- 21:53Yeah.
- 21:54I would say do better.
- 21:55I mean, it is Shakur Stevenson.
- 21:56As much as he is Shakur, the skills are there.
- 22:02As much as he's Shakur, he's still Shakur.
- 22:05Yeah.
- 22:06Yeah.
- 22:07It sounds silly, but yeah.
- 22:10I mean, I would say do better, right?
- 22:11I don't know if he throws as many punches, though.
- 22:15I really don't know how that fight would go.
- 22:17I want to say that Zepeda swarms him and eventually catches him with something, and Shakur's chin's
- 22:24never been tested, and I kind of assume it's not good.
- 22:28But I have nothing to base that on other than Shakur is boring and I don't want to see him
- 22:32fight anymore.
- 22:33Right.
- 22:34It would be a matter of how much danger is he willing to put himself into to secure the
- 22:40victory?
- 22:41I don't think Shakur is going to put himself in danger.
- 22:45I don't think he ever does.
- 22:46That's what I was going to go with was he's not the type.
- 22:50The only time he'll stand in front of you is if he knows you're not going to hurt him.
- 22:55I don't think he'll do that with Zepeda because I think he knows Zepeda could hurt him.
- 23:00Right.
- 23:01But do you think that fight actually happens now?
- 23:02No.
- 23:03Zepeda says his hand's broken.
- 23:05Shakur says his hand was broken.
- 23:07I don't see those guys fighting next year either.
- 23:09I was going to say if it's going to happen, it's going to be like late next year.
- 23:14If it happens next year at all.
- 23:16I think they're both going to fight other people first for sure.
- 23:19Exactly.
- 23:20They're going to get a comebacks first.
- 23:25All right.
- 23:26Moving up to Arnold Barbosa gets his respect.
- 23:30Give him his respect over Jose Ramirez.
- 23:33That was great.
- 23:36Barbosa looked better than he did in his Golden Boy debut.
- 23:40He looked better than he ever has when he was with top rank.
- 23:43Ramirez, is he on the skid because they were talking about him having trouble making 140.
- 23:49Might be thinking about moving up.
- 23:52I don't know.
- 23:53What are we thinking here?
- 23:55I honestly had thought Jose Ramirez retired.
- 23:58I was surprised when they said he was fighting.
- 24:01I don't know why I thought that.
- 24:03I just did.
- 24:05Well then, Arnold, you're also in a pretty stacked division here.
- 24:11Let me pull up some names because he looked great.
- 24:16But yeah, Ramirez didn't look like himself.
- 24:19So I'm not sure how much to make of it.
- 24:22Jack Cattarall.
- 24:24I think that's a good name for him.
- 24:26Yeah.
- 24:27I think he could beat Cattarall.
- 24:28I think so too.
- 24:30But I think Cattarall could also test him as well, which is important if you want to
- 24:34see how high up the ladder you're going to go.
- 24:36I got to pull up a picture.
- 24:38I forget which one is Barbosa.
- 24:41He's the one with the respect.
- 24:45The one with all of the respect.
- 24:46But why with the respect?
- 24:48Yeah, because he made sure that Sergio Mora gave him his respect.
- 24:53Which is so fucking random because I don't think Mora ever talks bad about him.
- 24:58Yeah, he never said anything.
- 24:59So I don't know.
- 25:00It's a weird thing.
- 25:03Weird thing to be, weird time to be mad, I'll say.
- 25:07Yeah, I think if Ramirez wants to do anything, he needs to go up a weight class.
- 25:13I wonder if he wasn't a little weight drained.
- 25:15They were saying that he had been struggling with 140.
- 25:19So it's possible.
- 25:21Kind of fought like it.
- 25:24Moving up, Oscar Goyaso knocks out CP Freshmart in the seventh to unify the WBA and WBO titles
- 25:35for strawweight.
- 25:36I'm happy for Colazo, but I'm sad because I really like CP Freshmart.
- 25:44You can't be champion forever.
- 25:47And eight years is a long time at strawweight.
- 25:51And for anyone, for the uninitiated, which is a lot of people when it comes to strawweight,
- 25:58he wasn't just some dude sitting in Thailand beating up Bangkok fucking taxi drivers.
- 26:03That's not at all what was happening.
- 26:05People were coming from all over the world to fight Freshmart and he was beating them
- 26:11all.
- 26:12He's starting to look old.
- 26:13Yeah, he did look his age a bit.
- 26:16Like not bad, but you have to be so fast at those small weight classes.
- 26:22And he just he couldn't keep up with it anymore, I think.
- 26:27Did you watch this one drip?
- 26:29I didn't.
- 26:30I missed it.
- 26:31Yeah, I think a lot of people skipped the flyweight.
- 26:33Yeah.
- 26:34Bangkok flyweight, strawweight fight, which was a mistake because it was exciting.
- 26:39It was actually very, very good.
- 26:41Yeah.
- 26:42I know that the broadcast was shitting on Freshmart a lot.
- 26:46And I really think if anyone should have been yelling, give me my respect, should have been
- 26:50Freshmart.
- 26:51Yeah.
- 26:52Because even though he lost, you're still looking at a very long time, long tenure champion
- 26:58who beat a lot of guys, a lot of good competitors.
- 27:01So give him his respect.
- 27:04This is a very good win for Oscar, who had a pretty like shaky outing last time.
- 27:11So good for him.
- 27:12Yeah, yeah.
- 27:13I'm really happy for Colazo.
- 27:17Only problem is, is he is American, right?
- 27:21Yes.
- 27:22Nobody in America cares about straw weights.
- 27:25Nope.
- 27:27That's the only problem.
- 27:28Like I liked when CP Freshmart was making people fly to Thailand because the crowds
- 27:35were fucking awesome if you could find the fights to watch.
- 27:38Yeah.
- 27:39Thai crowds are amazing.
- 27:41Yeah.
- 27:42And they don't care how small you are.
- 27:44No.
- 27:45Like they show up and they show out.
- 27:48But the downside was they're really hard to find the broadcast.
- 27:52Oscar, Oscar, Oscar.
- 27:56Is he the best?
- 27:57He is the best Puerto Rican fighter right now.
- 27:59So that's fun.
- 28:01Yeah.
- 28:02Yeah, I have to agree.
- 28:05I don't know.
- 28:06Matthias looked pretty mid against Paro and then, oh yeah, he got a knockout in his comeback.
- 28:12But like, who the fuck was that guy anyway?
- 28:14According to Boxerak, he was born in Jersey.
- 28:17Yes, he was.
- 28:19Oh, good old Joyzy.
- 28:21All right.
- 28:22I could see why he left.
- 28:23Hey, well, well, well, Jersey's not that bad of a place.
- 28:28In the main event, Zerto gets the UD over Chris Billams-Smith to unify.
- 28:34He picks up the WBO title to add to his WBA.
- 28:38Oh, goodness gracious.
- 28:41Holy fuck is CBS a like a juggernaut.
- 28:47I don't know what the right word is.
- 28:49Yeah.
- 28:50Like, how did he not go down?
- 28:53How did he take that much punishment?
- 28:56It's pretty wild to see Zerto looking unlike any time we've ever seen him.
- 29:04He was really light on his feet, pivoting, making angles and stuff, changing up his punch
- 29:10selection to set up other shots.
- 29:14It was, I don't know, where has this guy been?
- 29:18Where the fuck has this Ramirez been?
- 29:21Because CBS, I don't know too much about him to really knock him.
- 29:28But that fight against Okoli, like he was able to do something.
- 29:31He was able to be pretty successful there.
- 29:33And Okoli, whatever his other faults, wasn't necessarily a slouch either.
- 29:37Yeah.
- 29:38I'm not.
- 29:39Yeah.
- 29:40Where did this come from?
- 29:41This is what happens when Gilberto gets to eat all the tacos he wants.
- 29:45Yeah.
- 29:46No more weight cuts.
- 29:47No, I was super impressed with him and I cannot believe that Chris Billams Smith is that tough.
- 29:55I can't believe any human is that tough.
- 29:57I was saying during the fight, like this is around like round eight or nine when it looked,
- 30:04it was pretty obvious for one, CBS is not going to win.
- 30:08Two, CBS has kind of checked out that then it comes to like, what are we, what more do
- 30:14we need to see?
- 30:15What more do we want?
- 30:16Do we want to watch just watch CBS get his ass kicked for four more rounds?
- 30:20I agree with you.
- 30:22But there was also no point where I feel like the ref could have stopped it.
- 30:26It would have had to have been his corner.
- 30:28Yeah.
- 30:29That's what I meant more.
- 30:30Yeah.
- 30:31The ref could not have stopped it.
- 30:32It wasn't that grueling.
- 30:35But somebody, someone should have said, look, hey Chris, like, dude, what the fuck are we
- 30:39doing here?
- 30:41Yeah, I agree.
- 30:44His corner could have stopped it.
- 30:46Anytime in the last four rounds, his corner could have stopped it.
- 30:49Cause I also don't think CBS has the power for that.
- 30:53Like one shot come back.
- 30:55He does not.
- 30:56This was a great fight though.
- 30:58Anybody who missed it should go find it.
- 31:00It was good.
- 31:01I gotta go find it.
- 31:03Yeah, it's, it's worth it.
- 31:05So the, the, uh, Zerto has two.
- 31:10The other two are McAlian, uh, Jai Opataya as well.
- 31:15I don't, Opataya is the fight to make.
- 31:18Absolutely.
- 31:19There, there is nothing else to make besides.
- 31:22And I think that would be a fucking banger of a fight.
- 31:25Like I'd be excited for that one.
- 31:27Absolutely.
- 31:28I hope, I hope he does it.
- 31:31Opataya, I mean, I think McAlian should, he's listed as inactive.
- 31:37He hasn't fought since last year, November of last year.
- 31:42Um, I'm going to need you to get your ass on a, on a flight to Australia.
- 31:48Cause who the fuck are you?
- 31:50You don't get to say, oh, the winner of Opataya and Zerto gets, has the privilege of fighting
- 31:54me.
- 31:55Like shut the fuck up.
- 31:57You don't, you don't get to say that.
- 31:59So David Benavides was talking about going up to fight Zerto.
- 32:03Oh, does he want to look even more flabby?
- 32:05Well that, and I don't think it's a good idea.
- 32:09I think Benavides would get his ass kicked.
- 32:11Yeah.
- 32:12Yeah.
- 32:13He's got smoked.
- 32:14Yeah.
- 32:15It's not a good move for him.
- 32:16If you can't stop, uh, Vosdick, not sure what you're going to do.
- 32:20Uh, 25 pounds higher.
- 32:22Anything more for this, for this card?
- 32:24All right.
- 32:26Uh, one quick one I wanted to mention motherfucking Mickey Scala.
- 32:30He's a local, local guy for me.
- 32:33He gets a win over Luis Ramos.
- 32:35It's a six rounder in New York.
- 32:37So enjoy.
- 32:38If you don't want me to talk about Mickey Scala, then maybe call in and let me know
- 32:43why.
- 32:448 3 3 5 8 9 7 6 3 7.
- 32:46Wow.
- 32:47What a plugin.
- 32:48I know I'm really good at this.
- 32:50So December 7th, pro hardware day.
- 32:51There are so many fights.
- 32:53There's four cards.
- 32:54Yeah.
- 32:55This is fucking massive on the pro box one.
- 32:57Jesus.
- 32:58Four cards.
- 32:59Um, so pro box recently aligned with Conlin boxing, the Conlin brothers, Conlin family.
- 33:07So that's what this card is.
- 33:09A lot of these are lower level guys.
- 33:12Some people making their debuts.
- 33:14The only name I recognize on this whole thing is Tyrone McKenna in the main event versus
- 33:18Dylan Moran.
- 33:19That's all I got.
- 33:21It should be pretty good.
- 33:22That one.
- 33:23I think, I think they're probably pretty even.
- 33:25Yeah.
- 33:26I would say that would be a good, it wouldn't be bad to tune in for that.
- 33:29So that's on Saturday, December 7th.
- 33:32Because it's in, it's in Waterford in Ireland, it'll be on around the same time as the Queensbury
- 33:40card.
- 33:41I really hope pro box staggers it so that they're not competing because they're probably
- 33:46going to not do as well as Queensbury.
- 33:49Pro box being on YouTube and free might help them.
- 33:55True that.
- 33:56Actually, good point.
- 33:58And you can always watch it after.
- 34:00There's one thing I really like about the pro box is like, you don't have to watch it
- 34:05live.
- 34:06Okay.
- 34:07For the Queensbury card, this one's at the Wembley Arena.
- 34:11Bit of stuff on here.
- 34:12I'll just, whatever has some intrigue.
- 34:15It's really just from, what is it?
- 34:17One, two, it's like the fifth fight from the top.
- 34:21Sean Noakes versus Matthew Rennie.
- 34:23It's welterweight, the British, the pride belt, the rainbow one that the Brits like.
- 34:30Sean Noakes versus Matthew Rennie for that.
- 34:32Lawrence Okoli debuting at heavyweight versus Hussein Muhammad.
- 34:36Yeah, Okoli's back, baby.
- 34:40Solomon Dakers versus David Adelaide.
- 34:45This is the pride heavyweight belt.
- 34:48That's fun.
- 34:49Brad Pauls versus Denzel Bentley.
- 34:51This one's actually should be good.
- 34:54Denzel Bentley.
- 34:55That is the snootiest name I have heard in a while.
- 35:01This is a 12 rounder.
- 35:02The previous ones were 10.
- 35:05So the WBO International and the British middleweight titles on the line here.
- 35:11And at the top of the bill, Sam Noakes versus Ryan Walsh, 12 rounds, the British and WBO
- 35:18International lightweight belts will be on the line.
- 35:21So there you go.
- 35:22That's all of the stuff happening in Europe.
- 35:25Yeah, I didn't recognize very many of those names.
- 35:29I recognize these from on paper.
- 35:32Just the Noakes brothers on the Queensberry one.
- 35:36Okoli.
- 35:37Yeah.
- 35:38All right, moving on.
- 35:40In Puerto Rico, Matchroom is returning to the scene of the crime, as they keep saying,
- 35:49for whatever the fuck reason.
- 35:50I do not understand why this is in Puerto Rico.
- 35:53Yeah, it doesn't make sense.
- 35:56I don't know.
- 35:58There's a bunch of shit on it that I'm going to skip.
- 36:00Yanquil Figueroa versus Angel Gonzalez.
- 36:04This is WBC Silver and WBO Intercontinental flyweights.
- 36:09Is that another one of the Figueroas?
- 36:14Is he related to the other ones?
- 36:16No.
- 36:17Not that I know of anyway.
- 36:18I guess it's not that uncommon of a last name.
- 36:21That's pretty common.
- 36:22Oh, no, yeah.
- 36:23Figueroa is.
- 36:24Henry Lebron.
- 36:25He is the doctor.
- 36:27The little doctor?
- 36:28El doctorcito?
- 36:29Doctor Dolittle?
- 36:30His nickname on BoxRec is El doctorcito.
- 36:35Yeah, the little doctor.
- 36:38Hilarious.
- 36:39Doctor Dolittle.
- 36:41Henry Lebron versus Christopher Diaz.
- 36:43IBF Latin America and ABO.
- 36:46Superfeathers Mark Castro versus Agustin Kitana.
- 36:50Mark Castro is the Elon Musk lookalike.
- 36:53Ten round lightweights.
- 36:54And Liam Parrow versus Richardson Hitchens for the IBF super lightweight title.
- 37:00I really hope that Richardson Hitchens is stopped in a brutal fashion that makes him
- 37:09reconsider his career.
- 37:10Please.
- 37:11Yeah, I'm going to jump on the Liam Parrow bandwagon too.
- 37:15I think Parrow is a dog.
- 37:18Please.
- 37:19I want him to be good now.
- 37:20Riddus of his company, Parrow.
- 37:23The world needs you.
- 37:25You've been called to service.
- 37:27Liam Parrow is him.
- 37:29Yeah, I guess.
- 37:31All right.
- 37:32Moving to top rank in Phoenix.
- 37:36Did you get a ticket for this one?
- 37:37I did not.
- 37:38I got snipped.
- 37:39That's all right, though.
- 37:41Demmler Zamora.
- 37:42I'm going to fucking skip all this shit.
- 37:45Giovanna Santian versus Frederick Lawson.
- 37:48Walter Waits.
- 37:49Santian's coming back after Brian Norman beat him bloody.
- 37:53It's a pretty rough one.
- 37:56And then I'm going to skip this.
- 37:58Then Doful Delgado.
- 38:00Whatever.
- 38:02Richard Torres versus Isaac Munoz.
- 38:05Eight round heavies.
- 38:07Interesting.
- 38:08I thought it's not bad.
- 38:11It's not a bad step up, actually.
- 38:1318-1-1 for Isaac.
- 38:15Pretty good.
- 38:16I like Richard Torres.
- 38:18Do I think he's going to be world champion?
- 38:20Probably not.
- 38:21Do I want him to be?
- 38:23Yes.
- 38:24I would like for him to go to cruiserweight if he's going to go anywhere.
- 38:28Do you think he's not that heavy, I guess?
- 38:32No, he would have to probably have to cut a little bit of muscle mass to get to the 200.
- 38:37What's the weird one?
- 38:39Bridger?
- 38:40That only exists.
- 38:41Yeah.
- 38:42Oh, Bridgerweight?
- 38:43Yeah.
- 38:44Which is unfortunate.
- 38:45That's the weight he comes in at pretty much every fight night he comes in around Bridger.
- 38:51Yeah.
- 38:52And he's not yoked, but I don't think he has enough fat that he could make cruiserweight
- 38:58by just cutting fat.
- 39:00In the co-main, Rafael Espinosa is rematching Robesy Ramirez, WBO featherweight title on
- 39:07the line.
- 39:09I like Espinosa a lot, so I really hope that he gets this one more convincingly because
- 39:17Robesy is still pretty good.
- 39:18Yeah, me too.
- 39:22I don't think it's a frog check for Robesy, but I think it's a ceiling check.
- 39:26And in the main, Nav Emanuel Navarrete versus Oscar Valdez, WBO super feather.
- 39:36This is consolidating the interim title while Nav went up to 135 to test the waters.
- 39:43So there you go.
- 39:45I'm not expecting a whole lot to be different than their first one.
- 39:49No, I'm excited though.
- 39:51The first one was good.
- 39:53Yes, exciting.
- 39:54Like Valdez always, always, always comes to scrap.
- 39:59Always.
- 40:00I can't, can't ever fault him for that, for not trying, not having heart or grit or toughness
- 40:07or whatever word you want to use.
- 40:09Nav is, I don't know, just a little bit too much, too much, too unorthodox for Valdez,
- 40:17who's a little bit more by the book in how he fights.
- 40:21Yeah, not sure if this is going to go much better.
- 40:24If I would be more than happy to eat my words, Valdez.
- 40:28He grew up in Tucson, not too far from here in Phoenix.
- 40:34So we're basically best friends at this point since we're like next door neighbors pretty
- 40:39much.
- 40:40But yeah, I really like both these guys.
- 40:42I don't care who wins.
- 40:44Yeah, it comes to nothing.
- 40:46I hope everybody has a good day.
- 40:48Oh no, not one of those.
- 40:50We want to see a winner, damn it.
- 40:53Yeah, it only comes to one thing for me and that's, yeah, I like them both.
- 40:57They're both fun fighters, both put on exciting fights every time they come out pretty much.
- 41:02So all I got is Valdez grew up in Arizona.
- 41:05So that's it.
- 41:06I got nothing else.
- 41:07It's the only thing that sets them apart.
- 41:10Who are you picking, Drip?
- 41:11I'll go with Valdez.
- 41:12I like Arizona.
- 41:13Nice.
- 41:14Well, if you guys are both cheering for Valdez, I guess I'll have to cheer for Navarrete.
- 41:19OK, come on now.
- 41:21Come on.
- 41:22Come on.
- 41:23Oh, well, that's it for this portion.
- 41:27On the next portion, before I head out, can we just make a quick section talking about
- 41:31that trailer for Usyk Fury 2?
- 41:33Because fuck me, that was awesome.
- 41:35I haven't seen it.
- 41:36I seriously I haven't.
- 41:37That was a great noise.
- 41:38Dude, you got to go watch it.
- 41:39Take the time right now to go watch it.
- 41:40I'm pulling it up.
- 41:41So hold on a second.
- 41:42Let me.
