Latest / Life For Toledo / Face The Opposition Matt 22:41
Transcript
- 0:00I'm thinking today, primarily of Matthew 22, 41, it says,
- 0:04Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question.
- 0:08The Pharisees were kind of like the teaching pastors of the day.
- 0:13They were Jewish, of course, and they were proselyting and leading people to be Jewish.
- 0:17But the bottom line is they were teaching the Word of God the best they had it,
- 0:20which was the Old Testament up until that time.
- 0:22And Jesus asked them a question. Here's my suggestion.
- 0:26Face your opposition, whatever your opposition is, and ask your opposition a telling question.
- 0:31This is a way of shutting down all the frivolous challenges.
- 0:35He could have asked them anything, and they might normally have been happy to be addressed,
- 0:39especially in light of the light shining on them.
- 0:42They might have said, and as well he should ask us questions,
- 0:45but the question he chose to ask them was a telling question,
- 0:49a question that showed something about them and something about him and something about God.
- 0:54I think about 1st John chapter 4 verse 1, it says,
- 0:57Test the spirit, for not every spirit in the world is of Christ.
- 1:01In verse 2 there it says, this is how you know when it's of God,
- 1:06when it's the Holy Spirit of God, and that is if it proclaims, recognizes Jesus.
- 1:10And so if there are things in your life that don't recognize Jesus,
- 1:13then I don't suppose that you'll be surprised that they come across as opposition or stand against you.
- 1:18Here's the thing. Ask them.
- 1:20Do they believe in Jesus?
- 1:21And if they don't, let that telling question determine what you do with them.
- 1:25Some things may have to be cut out. Some things may have to be let go.
- 1:28Stand firm in Christ, and God will stand with you every single day.
- 1:32Just a special hi to Terry.

- 1:37And also, I want to tell you, June 26th starts our summer Bible study for kids at New Heights,
- 1:4326, four days long.
