- 0:00By taking today the short verse from 2 Corinthians 7 verse 6, it says,
- 0:05But God, who comforts the depressed, comforted us by becoming of tribus.
- 0:10God, I see you are a God who comforts the depressed.
- 0:13If there is comfort in God and depression, then why do some people go into depression
- 0:16and not find comfort? Is it because they are not looking for God?
- 0:20Is it because like pharaohs, their hearts are hardened and the solution is unthinkable,
- 0:24and they have remained there and not met God face to face?
- 0:27Is it because God has allowed an evil spirit to torment them, as he did Saul?
- 0:32These things, the reasons why, they are beyond my full knowledge.
- 0:37As we must proceed having not met God face to face, I can only imagine.
- 0:42I don't know what looking at all the things of this world questioning why they are the way they are
- 0:46can do to us when we are depressed without the comfort of God.
- 0:50I'm not of the mind to say that everybody gets depressed eventually or at some point.
- 0:54I'm also of the mind to think that this depression is something different than what doctors are
- 0:58calling clinical depression. This is a fact. God comforts the depressed.
- 1:03It's true that God is our way tough and out of every difficult situation.
- 1:07Even if we are taking medicine, attending counseling, or working a plan for depression,
- 1:11we should be going to God and consistently. Notice too that his methods are his own.
- 1:18Wrapped up in that little word by, in this verse, is the idea that he can do it by his chosen
- 1:23method, and in this case, becoming a part of the service. But in our lives, it might include
- 1:29the counseling through the medication, through our experiences, or by combining a pastor or a doctor.
- 1:36Find the help that God has prepared for you. If you're in depression,
- 1:39get the help you need and give God the glory.
