- 0:00This shit ain't nothing to me, man. This is Boxing
- 0:03Before Dark. Boxing. Boxing. Boxing. Back. Back.
- 0:06Back. Back. Back. Before. Before. Before. Before.
- 0:11Boxing. Boxing. Boxing. Boxing Before Dark. This
- 0:15is Boxing Before Dark. Oh, shit. Boxing Before
- 0:25Dark. We're back, bitches. Shanada, how are you
- 0:29doing out there and JP? I'm good, I'm good. It's
- 0:33Golden Week this week, so I have to work because
- 0:37my experiment plan didn't give me a time off,
- 0:41but everybody else gets four days off. What's
- 0:44Golden Week for? It's just that there's randomly
- 0:49two holidays together. So, actually, there's
- 0:54kind of three. The 29th... is Emperor Showa,
- 0:58so I think like three emperors ago, two emperors
- 1:00ago. It's his birthday, the 29th of April, and
- 1:05then the first weekend in May, the Monday -Tuesday,
- 1:09is a holiday. One is Sports Day, and one is Green
- 1:14Day. So Sports Day, you go outside and play sports,
- 1:18and Green Day, you go appreciate nature. It's
- 1:23basically a long weekend while the weather's
- 1:25nice. Because in the summer, it's too hot. So
- 1:29they don't just play American Idiot over and
- 1:31over on Green Day? I would love that. They're
- 1:36going to blast it in the lab all weekend. Oh,
- 1:41shit. Well, let's get right into it. Fucking
- 1:45Manny Pacquiao is making a comeback versus Mario
- 1:52Barrios. This is fucking ridiculous. Absolutely
- 1:55ridiculous. I'm sorry, how old is Pacquiao these
- 1:58days? 45? When was his last fight? Like six years
- 2:03ago? I think... When did he fight Ugas? I think
- 2:12it was six years ago now. 2019? Before COVID?
- 2:17Was Ugas before COVID? Or was it during COVID?
- 2:22I thought it was after. I gotta go look it up
- 2:26now. Yeah, I was about to do the same. 2021.
- 2:32You're right. So four years ago. Still. He lost.
- 2:39He lost and a four year hiatus and you get a
- 2:45championship fight? Bullshit. Makes perfect sense.
- 2:50Bullshit. Mauricio is fucking smoking some something.
- 3:01I mean, man, he's a draw. I get that it's about
- 3:04money, but goddamn. Last time he looked good
- 3:10was 2019. That was his last good fight. Yeah,
- 3:19it's been six years since a win, and he gets
- 3:22a title fight? It's ridiculous. Yeah. Everybody
- 3:26is like, well, George Foreman came back and did
- 3:30it, but George did it the way you're supposed
- 3:32to. He went back on the grind and earned his
- 3:37way up to a title shot. These guys should not
- 3:41be getting title shots off of losses or coming
- 3:44out of retirements or anything else. It's ridiculous.
- 3:49Only situation I could see where coming out of
- 3:52retirement is enough to get a title fight would
- 3:56be if you, like Tyson Fury, you retire. No, those
- 4:00fake retirements. Yeah, those half -ass, like
- 4:02you're only gone for like a year tops. That's
- 4:06not a real retirement, though. That's just lying
- 4:10in the press and taking a normal hiatus break.
- 4:14Like one year is pretty standard. Well, not standard,
- 4:17but pretty common. Yeah. Not fucking four years
- 4:23coming off a loss. Yeah. And I mean, everyone
- 4:28talks about the Keith Thurman fight. Like he
- 4:31won. Yeah, he won. But everyone acts like it
- 4:34was this massive sweep like he did to Adrian
- 4:37Broner. Like Broner got his ass beat. Just pillar
- 4:42to post. But Keith Thurman got knocked down.
- 4:47And then otherwise was pretty competitive. Yeah,
- 4:51I do think Manny won that fight. He did. But
- 4:55it was a close fight for sure. Yeah, but people
- 5:00act like it wasn't. And then Ugas was... That
- 5:05was like the tipping point. Because after that,
- 5:07Ugas was competitive. But he was clearly showing
- 5:10his age. He was not the same guy he used to be.
- 5:14And he loses. I don't see this going much better.
- 5:20The only thing is that Barrios isn't all that
- 5:25awesome. Barrios is the weakest champion for
- 5:29sure. Which is the only reason Manny's trying
- 5:32this. But Manny's just too old. Right. His whole
- 5:38thing was speed. And he's not fast anymore. He's
- 5:4446 years old. 46? 46. He's a whole decade older
- 5:52than I am. What was the thing? Somebody sent
- 6:01a screenshot of Reddit and it was two posts.
- 6:04One saying Manny was coming for this title shot
- 6:08and the post directly under that was 16 years
- 6:11since Manny beats Hatton. Yeah, sweet juxtaposition.
- 6:18Fucking ridiculous. I don't know. I don't...
- 6:26I don't... Official fucking signature of in the
- 6:32no column for this one. I don't want to see it.
- 6:36Don't need Manny Pacquiao back. No. Because this
- 6:41is like a no -win situation. You beat Mario Barrios.
- 6:46Congratulations. You've got the easiest belt
- 6:48out of the three champions there are. You got
- 6:52the easy one. Now you've got a huge target on
- 6:56your back and somebody's going to beat the living
- 6:58piss out of you. Brian Norman or Boots. Yeah,
- 7:04nobody wants to see Pacquiao versus Boots. No,
- 7:08I absolutely do not. That's like elder abuse.
- 7:12This is a Del Boy situation. Like, I like Matty
- 7:17Pacquiao, but I do not want him to win if he
- 7:20does fight. Yeah, and that's the other part of
- 7:23the no -win situation, is he loses to Mario Barrios.
- 7:27I guess it's... What the fuck? It can't be that
- 7:30much worse than Ugas, but... Well, and just imagine
- 7:35you're Mario Barrios. You get to say you beat
- 7:39Matty Pacquiao. Yeah, and... You just got to
- 7:44hope that nobody stops to think about... What
- 7:47year it is? Yeah. Because, like, the 16 years
- 7:52since Ricky Hatton, that... How old was Barrios
- 8:00at the time? 10? Well, how old is Barrios now?
- 8:08He was 13. He's the Aztec, right? Yeah. He was
- 8:1313 years old when... Manny is 16 years older
- 8:22than Barrios? 29 to 46? Yeah. 17? 17 years. Barrios
- 8:34could literally be his son and it would only
- 8:37be slightly scandalous. Yeah. Like, as having
- 8:43a kid in grade 12. Excellent. Fucking ridiculous.
- 8:53Why? Why are they letting him do this? Why did
- 8:58Nevada clear him? Why did Suleiman allow this
- 9:01to happen? This is boxing corruption at its finest.
- 9:06This is where I would cue that song that... He
- 9:09goes, money, money, money, money, money. Oh,
- 9:13no. Yep. That's the only reason. There's no other
- 9:17reason. There's no valid reason otherwise. Well,
- 9:23and, like, he doesn't deserve the shot. No. Take
- 9:27everything else out. He just doesn't deserve
- 9:30it right now. Like, somebody is getting screwed
- 9:36under their chance. at the easy belt. Although
- 9:40I guess if they get to fight whoever wins, it's
- 9:43probably still an easy win. Yeah. I mean, Barrios
- 9:52isn't going to get any better and Manny's not
- 9:55going to get any younger. So whoever has the
- 9:57belt after this fight is still going to be the
- 10:00weakest champion. But Manny Pacquiao in 2025.
- 10:07Fuck. What is going on? Well, on that note, I
- 10:14am opening my holiday beer. Yeah. Fuck. It was
- 10:25the best of times. It was the worst of times.
- 10:29It was mostly just the worst of times. You know
- 10:33who's having a worst time? Sebastian Fundoro.
- 10:38Yeah, I saw they stripped him. That's unfortunate.
- 10:42Stripped him for... What was it you had said?
- 10:47So they ordered that he fight Xander Zayas, and
- 10:52he is declining that, dropping the belt for the
- 10:56Tim Zhu rematch. So Xander's going to fight someone
- 11:00for a vacant belt, I assume? Oh yeah, I didn't
- 11:04think to look up who that was. Yeah, I'm about
- 11:06to. I mean, the Tim Zhu rematch needs to happen,
- 11:14I guess. But I'm a little worried about Tim Zhu
- 11:17after seeing his last two performances. He still
- 11:21looks scared. And if Fundora cuts him again,
- 11:24he's going to just mentally implode, I think.
- 11:30If he gets cut again, he probably will. But he
- 11:35does deserve his shot at... at his revenge because
- 11:39that was not a fair fight that first one and
- 11:42i i've complained about it at length but the
- 11:45corner screwed him the doctor screwed him everybody
- 11:49screwed him in that fight the the wbo site isn't
- 11:54working it's no no it's and maybe it's just me
- 12:06Let me check. WBOboxing .com Nope. It just says
- 12:11Teezy in the top corner. Somebody misspelled
- 12:16Tess. I have it bookmarked. Or it's one of those
- 12:21weird Gen Alpha bullshit things. Tess is too
- 12:24normal. Give it a little Teezy. Tessie? Give
- 12:32it a little Tessie. I see probably more what
- 12:36they were going for. What weight class is that?
- 12:4254. Which is Walter? Super Walter. Or Junior
- 12:50Middle. Okay, so WBO is vacant. Zayas is 1. Perez
- 13:01is 2, maybe? The guy who beat Charles Conwell?
- 13:07I'm not sure. This seems to be an amalgamation
- 13:10of the rankings that I found. Xander Zayas next.
- 13:20Boxing scene has him. Yeah, the guy who just
- 13:23beat Cordell, not Cordell Booker, Charles Conwell
- 13:26is number two. Yeah, Boxing News 24 -7, whatever
- 13:32that is. Says it's Jorge Perez for the vacant
- 13:36WBO has been ordered. Yep. Makes sense. Team
- 13:43Zeus number three. How can you not... How is
- 13:47that not a sufficient title defense? I have no
- 13:53idea. Because Cordell Booker was a fucking mandatory.
- 13:59What is happening? They don't want Fundora to
- 14:05have that belt. That's all it is. It's strictly
- 14:07politics. They don't like Fundora being the champion
- 14:10there. Whatever Bob orders. The WBO belongs to
- 14:16top rank. They are screwing Fundora on this one,
- 14:22I think. Yeah, absolutely. Because I agree. Kim
- 14:25Zoo's ranked high enough. He should count as
- 14:27a defense. Yeah. I mean, if he's third. According
- 14:34to the Tessie site, he's third. What more do
- 14:39you want? Yeah, I don't... They want Fandora
- 14:43out, I guess. Yeah, because you've got to give
- 14:46it to Xander Zayas, who's a top -ranked fighter.
- 14:50It's not like they aren't going to make money
- 14:52on that Tim Zhu rematch, too. Probably more than
- 14:56they would with Xander Zayas, if Fandora fought
- 15:00him. I bet you they want Xander to fight for
- 15:07a belt on Puerto Rico weekend in New York. But
- 15:15then he beats Xander Zayas' ass? When is the
- 15:21Puerto Rico parade? I just know it's in June.
- 15:26Yeah, that's probably what they're doing. They
- 15:30stripped Fundora so that Xander Zayas can fight
- 15:33for a belt. in new york on puerto rico weekend
- 15:36because he's the only puerto rican that's famous
- 15:40right now in boxing and he's fighting a mexican
- 15:45people love that yeah people gobble it up i i
- 15:51used to love that rivalry stuff there's not much
- 15:55of a rivalry right now not at the moment but
- 15:58but i bet you that's what it is It's all so that
- 16:03the Puerto Rico Day Parade fights have a belt
- 16:08on the line. Just so happens the belt in question
- 16:14is the one that Top Rank always has. Well, it
- 16:21makes it easier to take it away from people.
- 16:23Yeah. Yeah, I don't know why... Boxing politics
- 16:31doesn't like Fundora. I know he's probably not
- 16:36the strongest champion. He kind of got lucky
- 16:39with that cut to get the belt and things, but
- 16:42he's a likable kid. He has no major scandals
- 16:45that I know of. He's entertaining. Nobody's ever
- 16:49said that Fundora's a boring fight. People should
- 16:55like him. Yeah, he's always entertaining. Whether,
- 17:00for better or worse, given his attributes. That's
- 17:06part of what I mean, though. Like, I don't see
- 17:09any reason for promoters to dislike him. I guess
- 17:13he doesn't shit talk very much. Too much of that,
- 17:18anyways. He's a polite person. Yeah, I guess
- 17:25that's too boring for... Too boring for boxing
- 17:30these days? We need more heels. Like Ben Whitaker?
- 17:38Gross. I've taken myself off of the Ben Whitaker
- 17:46train. I don't like him. I wasn't a huge fan
- 17:51to start with, and after that... injury. Big
- 17:56quotes on injury. I fucking hate them now. Yeah.
- 18:05That's what it was. The fake injury was pretty
- 18:11bad. To my fault, I was like, I can overlook
- 18:17this just to continue propping up the guy who's
- 18:22gets everybody all riled up because he dances
- 18:25around a lot. Yeah, but I don't like that anyways.
- 18:30He was already a heel in my eyes. Yeah, I was
- 18:35willing to overlook the injury thing, but then
- 18:38you're benefiting from another shitty stoppage
- 18:42and you're acting like you just beat this guy's
- 18:44ass when you fucking didn't. Well, and he fucking
- 18:48whined and complained. about the crowd booing
- 18:51him. Have you tried not being an asshole? Just
- 18:56an idea. Yeah, he's not coming back from that
- 19:01fake injury. No chance. Maybe he can start dancing
- 19:06again. Wow, I hope his ankle's okay. You never
- 19:14know with those kinds of things. It'd be permanent
- 19:18damage. Permanent damage. Segway into MJ Akhmadaliv
- 19:25fighting Inouye in September. Agreed in principle,
- 19:28as you put it. Yeah, so boxing scene has a quote
- 19:36from Inouye, or I assume his interpreter. That's
- 19:41the only thing that's written in stone, Inoue
- 19:43said. In terms of my future, the next fight is
- 19:46in September with MJ, but that's as far as it
- 19:49goes in the context of what's under contract.
- 19:52So it sounds like they've signed the contract,
- 19:55the fight's going to happen, and the rumors are
- 19:58it's going to be in September. I don't know where,
- 20:02though. I imagine that would be in Tokyo. At
- 20:07the Tokyo Dome. Yeah, I don't... MJ is one of
- 20:14the few that's kind of famous -famous, though.
- 20:17They might want Inoue back in the States. Eh.
- 20:23I mean, I'd prefer if it's in Tokyo. Yeah. I'm
- 20:27sure everybody in Japan would prefer it's in
- 20:31Tokyo. Everybody's still, uh, well... My friends
- 20:36are slight degenerates, so it's also not a good
- 20:39subsection of people to use as the normal. But
- 20:44everybody's waking up early and the bar is opening
- 20:47at 9 a .m. And we're all going to be there at
- 20:499 a .m. to watch In A Way in Vegas. Making it
- 20:54work? Yeah. They did open today at 9 a .m. as
- 20:59well and tomorrow. So, like, this whole weekend,
- 21:039 a .m. at the bar. But I'm not going into Tokyo
- 21:06three days in a row. That's too much effort.
- 21:09That is a lot. It's only an hour and a half on
- 21:13the train, but the waking up early and being
- 21:15dressed in a human, nah, too much. Did you say
- 21:21being dressed in human? Yeah. I can be not dressed
- 21:26and hardly awake in my house to watch this stuff.
- 21:30You could be a gremlin. Yeah. Especially when
- 21:37it's hot out, I hang around in very little clothes
- 21:40in my house all the time. And if it's boring...
- 21:43I can have a nap. You can fall asleep. I wonder
- 21:48what that would be like. I have fallen asleep
- 21:54at the bar before. One of those Sony cards, I
- 21:56just put my head down on the bar and had a nap.
- 21:59I asked the guy beside me to wake me up when
- 22:01they did the ring walks. I think it was a Bevo,
- 22:04better be a, if I recall correctly. Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:08It was a six -hour card that started at 1 a .m.
- 22:13And they decided to take a long -ass break? Yeah.
- 22:19I had an hour nap, and I legit didn't miss anything.
- 22:24Somebody was playing darts beside me and woke
- 22:26me up when they got a bullseye. I am excited
- 22:36for Inouye to finally fight MJ. People will have
- 22:39to shut up about him being a duck. I don't know
- 22:44why they think that Inouye is the one ducking,
- 22:47but I see it on forums all the time. The price
- 22:56of success is the goalposts are always going
- 22:59to move. It doesn't matter. He could be fighting
- 23:05MJ now, and there would still be some other guy
- 23:12that he's ducking. Like, I'll say, like, Picasso
- 23:15or Sam Goodman or something stupid like that.
- 23:19But there's always someone. Or, like, he's ducking
- 23:22the guys at 126. Like, he's just fighting bums,
- 23:25and he won't move up because he's ducking the
- 23:28real challenges. The expecting everybody to move
- 23:31up a million weight classes is ridiculous. People
- 23:35didn't do that back in the day. Like, Marvin
- 23:37Hagler only fought at one weight class, and nobody
- 23:41complained. Triple G fought one weight class.
- 23:44Nobody complained. Exactly. Like, I don't understand
- 23:49why everybody thinks, oh, if you're good and
- 23:52you're small, you need to run up six weight classes.
- 23:57How about... The 126 guys, if they're so awesome,
- 24:03why don't they move down? Yeah. I mean, eventually
- 24:08Inouye is going to meet people that are just
- 24:11too big. Yeah, I think that's what people want.
- 24:15They want to find his ceiling so that they can
- 24:19say, see, he's not that good. Well, fuck him.
- 24:23He is that good. Yeah, exactly. It's ridiculous.
- 24:29Oh, well, his frame's big. He can go up another
- 24:33weight class. His frame is not big, by the way.
- 24:36He is tiny. Oh, well, he walks around at 140,
- 24:40so he should be able to fight up to 135. Like,
- 24:44bullshit. No. And also, in these really small
- 24:48weight classes, the height difference becomes
- 24:51a big thing. Like, how tall is he in a way? I
- 24:55think he's only 5 '4". 5 '4". And even taking
- 24:58out Espinoza, that's just like a... He's an outlier.
- 25:02Right, right. But what are the other guys up
- 25:06at 126? They're all like 5 '6", 5 '8". Robisi,
- 25:13I think, is closer in size. Robisi? I almost
- 25:18spelled his name wrong. 5 '6". Okay, two inches
- 25:22isn't that bad. But he's also, I think he might
- 25:25be an outlier as well. Because he's kind of small.
- 25:33Brandon Figueroa is 5 '9". That's five inches.
- 25:39That's a lot of reach. And his arms are probably
- 25:42longer. Fulton is 5 '6". Oh, they're not as tall
- 25:51as I thought they were. Yeah. I guess I can't
- 25:53complain about the height. But still, eventually
- 25:56he's just going to go up against people who are
- 25:59too big. Angelo Leo's 5 '6". Neri is 5 '5". Okay.
- 26:08Yeah. I take it back. I take it back. The height's
- 26:11not a problem. Yeah. 126 is doable, but there's
- 26:16really no need to rush. I also wonder if Inouye
- 26:21is actually... He lists himself as 5 '5". I don't
- 26:26think he's 5 '5". I would say it's safe to subtract
- 26:31one or two with everyone. The reach is listed
- 26:38as like 146 inches. Maybe dial down the exaggeration
- 26:45a little bit. Yeah. On BoxRec, they have his
- 26:51reach at 171, which is, what, 5 '8"? Is that
- 27:01in centimeters? That is in centimeters, yeah.
- 27:0767 and a half inches. That's 5 '7 and a half.
- 27:11Yeah. No, it's not. Anyway. Everybody lies on
- 27:20those things. Yeah, just like everyone says MJ,
- 27:24or Inouye's ducking MJ. Everybody lies about
- 27:27that too. God. Well, they're going to have to
- 27:32find a new lie here soon. I am certain. Well,
- 27:39my money, it's going to be that he's not moving
- 27:42up. He's ducking the 126 guys. Oh, 100%. I think
- 27:48you're correct. If he's fighting MJ next, I hope
- 27:53Nakatani is after that, which is what they said,
- 27:55I think. Nakatani in December. In Tokyo. And
- 28:02if that happens, I am buying a ticket. Oh, good
- 28:07luck with that one. Sure. I'll get one. Maybe
- 28:11not. Maybe I won't. Positive mental attitude.
- 28:18Because the first time I tried with the lottery,
- 28:21every time I've tried with the lottery, I have
- 28:23not gotten a ticket. But maybe I can get one
- 28:26of the old boys at the bar to apply for a ticket
- 28:30for me. That would probably work better. Because
- 28:35you can order up to four when you place your
- 28:38lottery application. So if they don't have their
- 28:42four completely stacked out. I also have a friend.
- 28:47I have a couple friends I can ask. So you'll
- 28:51have several options? Yeah, well, and I'll put
- 28:55their names on my lotteries as well. Recent cards.
- 29:02Boxer first? Yeah. Ben Whittaker. But this is
- 29:09the end of Ben Whittaker. At least this is the
- 29:11end of my support of Ben Whittaker. And this
- 29:14is any... semblance of a chance of him being
- 29:18a top -level guy. He's fucking finished. I think
- 29:22this is... I was never on the Whitaker train.
- 29:29I just don't like his attitude. And that fake
- 29:34injury fucking pissed me off to no end. And Cameron
- 29:39won that first fight, or was winning that first
- 29:42fight, in my opinion. Yeah, that's why he faked
- 29:47the injury. He got the benefit of a shitty decision
- 29:52to call it a technical draw. Yeah, ridiculous.
- 29:58And this time he gets a Brit stoppage. That was
- 30:02crazy. Like, that was an out -of -nowhere stoppage.
- 30:09He was putting it on, but... That was definitely
- 30:14way too early. It was the second round. Yeah.
- 30:20Cameron wasn't that hurt. No, that's what I mean.
- 30:23He had gotten tagged, but he was not stoppage
- 30:29level hurt. Nor was he getting hit to that cleanly
- 30:33that much. Should we start calling British stoppages,
- 30:41calling them Brexits? Yes. I just... Everything
- 30:49about this fight was kind of ass. Yeah. I do
- 30:53think Whitaker probably would have won if it
- 30:56kept on. Like, he was looking better than Cameron
- 31:01this fight. But him getting the benefit of the
- 31:06stoppage early and... I'm all for stopping fights
- 31:10before boxers take too much damage, but Cameron
- 31:14wasn't damaged yet. No, he wasn't. Like, I don't
- 31:18know. I just, that was, that was set up to make
- 31:23Whitaker look better than he is. And everybody
- 31:28knows it. And everybody knows that injury was
- 31:32fake too. He got booed on the way in and then
- 31:35he complained about getting booed. Dude, if you're
- 31:39going to be an asshole and clown on people, own
- 31:42it. Yeah. Like, if you're going to play the heel,
- 31:47play the heel. But don't whine like a little
- 31:50bitch when people don't like you. Yeah, that's
- 31:54kind of what you were going for, wasn't it? With
- 31:58the dancing stuff, you were going for rubbing
- 32:01people the wrong way. See, I think... In his
- 32:07head that was coming off as cool and not asshole.
- 32:13Like, do you know what I mean? Yeah, okay. I
- 32:17see what you mean. I don't think he realized
- 32:19he was playing the heel when he was dancing and
- 32:22clowning on Journeyman. He really thought people
- 32:27were like, wow, I want to be like him. I do think
- 32:31that's what he thought. I think that's what he
- 32:33was going for. Was, oh man, this guy's so cool
- 32:36and so good that he makes everyone else look
- 32:39stupid. Instead of everybody realizing it's just
- 32:46fucking disrespectful. Yeah. Anyways, he's also
- 32:51a little bitch. He faked an injury. to get out
- 32:54of it, and he complained when he got booed. Frazier
- 33:00Clark gets a quick stoppage over former Dillian
- 33:07White opponent Ebenezer Teta. I don't know if
- 33:13that's a good title to have, if that's your claim
- 33:17to fame. He took Dillian White to seven. And
- 33:23Frazier Clark gets him out in the first round.
- 33:27That's... To me, that's... It's making a statement.
- 33:32It's good. Yeah, it's good for Frazier. That's
- 33:34how you're supposed to do it. I'm also glad to
- 33:38see that he wasn't scared after having his head
- 33:40broken. Because that injury in the... No, wait.
- 33:46Am I doing it backwards? Fabio Wardley was...
- 33:48The Joff one was the second one. The first one
- 33:52was the nose flatten. Yeah, yeah. Fraser Clark
- 33:59is mentally very tough. If somebody broke my
- 34:04head like that, I would not get back in the ring
- 34:07and stand there and let people punch me. Would
- 34:10you perhaps run around the ring a lot? Perhaps.
- 34:16Even against a subpar opponent? Perhaps. Perhaps.
- 34:22Perhaps. I might look like a certain boxer who
- 34:26fought earlier today. I wonder who would do that.
- 34:31A little bitch like Shanada. I don't know if
- 34:40he's a little bitch for it. Sam Eggington gets
- 34:43his fight stopped on a cut. They were in the
- 34:45eighth round, so they went to the cards, and
- 34:46he got the UD. I know what no one can call Sam
- 34:51Egginton a little bitch. That man takes damage.
- 34:55Yeah, I I'm actually sad to see he's still fighting.
- 34:59I really think he's his brain is mush. This is
- 35:03another I wish he'd have lost. Yeah, it would
- 35:06be probably to his benefit if he did. I I get
- 35:12him and Cheeseman mixed up. I do, though. They're
- 35:17like the same person in my head. And I know one
- 35:19of them has really bad gambling habits. And that's
- 35:24why he comes back to boxing all the time. But
- 35:27I'm not sure if it's Eggington or Cheeseman.
- 35:32It's Josh confused Cheeseman and Eggington as
- 35:42well when I mentioned them. They're basically
- 35:46the same person. It has to be Eggington, because
- 35:53Cheeseman hasn't fought since 2021. Oh, they
- 35:59finally got him to stop? No, but it is Cheeseman
- 36:01I was thinking of. Cheeseman has lost hundreds
- 36:05of thousands through gambling addiction. I don't
- 36:10know why Eggington keeps coming back. It's the
- 36:13only thing he knows how to do. It's not just
- 36:16me. Because I typed in Eggington and gambling
- 36:22and the top hit is Cheeseman lost hundreds of
- 36:25thousands gambling. The whole world confuses
- 36:29these two men. I gotta see. They don't particularly
- 36:35even look alike. They're just the same person.
- 36:41Yeah, it's just the same person. It doesn't matter
- 36:45that they're... They look very different. Eggington's
- 36:50all tattooed. But their careers are almost the
- 36:52same. Like, their fighting styles are both terrible
- 36:56for themselves. Yeah, bad for their health. Their
- 37:00accents are fucking atrocious. West Midlands?
- 37:05I don't know. I don't know British accents that
- 37:08well. I can't. copy them but like hard to understand
- 37:16british accent from i don't know if he's from
- 37:20a small town but i associate it with rural poor
- 37:23people anyways the boxer card was what it was
- 37:27it wasn't super exciting i don't think especially
- 37:30not when the main and co -main end so fast and
- 37:34it was a it was just a matter of seeing like
- 37:38what happened with whittaker was he really messed
- 37:43up or not he got bailed out by the politics yeah
- 37:49he did i don't think that answered any questions
- 37:52for me other than is whittaker really a bitch
- 37:55yes would it be better if he didn't act like
- 38:00a little bitch afterwards yes it would be because
- 38:04like we always i always blame the fighter benefiting
- 38:08from crappy politics when they probably have
- 38:14very little to do with it. I think they don't.
- 38:19Yeah, but I also generally try not to attack
- 38:26the fighter, but I just don't like Ben Whittaker.
- 38:29His attitude is terrible. His personality is
- 38:33awful. So, any reason I have to dislike him,
- 38:37I'll take it. If a fighter I like benefits from
- 38:42shit like that, I don't say anything. Consistency.
- 38:50I have never claimed to be impartial. Not once.
- 38:57Moving to Eubank Jr. vs. Connor Ben. Some fun
- 39:03stuff. This card kind of sucked. Yeah. In my
- 39:07opinion. I liked the Anthony Yard fight. I thought
- 39:11that one was fun. It was okay. I know I watched
- 39:16the whole thing, but the British fights are literally
- 39:19in the middle of the night for me, and I don't
- 39:21remember anything. I missed Chris Billum -Smith.
- 39:27Heard he did well. Glanton was competitive, but
- 39:32it was really clear for CBS. Yes. Yeah, okay.
- 39:37I do remember now that I look at their faces.
- 39:39Yeah, Glanton tried. He was there to give an
- 39:42honest effort. Like, he didn't just shell up
- 39:45or anything. But CBS was just better. Yeah. I'm
- 39:51kind of glad to see that he isn't broken after
- 39:53that ass -kicking. Oh. Like, Zerto beat the fuck
- 39:58out of him. He did get a cut in the same -ish
- 40:04spot. as he had from the Zerto fight. So I wonder
- 40:08if that's not going to be a problem for him going
- 40:10forward. Hmm. What would it look like if he was
- 40:14broken from his previous fight? I just... You
- 40:20know, some guys... Lateral movement? Yeah. You
- 40:24know, some guys are just scared to get hit. Yeah.
- 40:28Even when their opponent isn't that good. Yeah,
- 40:33I have to say Brandon Glanton was not as bad
- 40:36as I thought he would be. Like, I didn't know
- 40:40who he was, but people on the Discord chat while
- 40:43the fights were on, they all knew who he was.
- 40:45But to me, he was just some random American.
- 40:50Was he American? Pretty sure. Yeah. He's like
- 40:54from the army or something, isn't he? Or he played
- 40:57football. He played football professionally.
- 41:00And then switched to boxing. But CBS just out
- 41:07-skilled him. Just all around better. He looked
- 41:11good. I am happy about that. I kind of like CBS.
- 41:17He seems like a decent guy. You know who didn't
- 41:22look very good? It was Liam Smith. That made
- 41:26me really sad. I like Liam Smith. He's my favorite
- 41:30of the Smith brothers. But I think he's just
- 41:33getting a little old. Yeah, that's exactly what
- 41:38it is. He's going to go in and he's going to
- 41:41give it a good effort. And this is a hard one
- 41:45because he doesn't look completely washed. He
- 41:47just looks like he's not that good anymore. You
- 41:51know what I mean? Like Manny Pacquiao and his
- 41:54last outing? Yeah, exactly. liam smith doesn't
- 41:59take that much damage usually he's not he's not
- 42:03one of those guys that seems like he's getting
- 42:05screwed over fighting too long like he seems
- 42:09like he's still healthy and everything yeah but
- 42:12he also seems like he just he's not gonna do
- 42:17anything spectacular anymore and i kind of just
- 42:20want him to retire and be happy but i'm not worried
- 42:24about his health yet which is usually why i want
- 42:27people to retire Yeah. Yeah, that was the thing.
- 42:31You nailed it. He didn't look terrible. It's
- 42:36just obvious that he's showing his age. He's
- 42:39showing the mileage. It's a precarious time because
- 42:45he could keep going. But do you just want to
- 42:49have more outings like this where the margin
- 42:52just gets wider and wider out of your favor?
- 42:55Yeah, and you just become like, not really a
- 42:58journeyman, but kind of. Like you're a gatekeeper,
- 43:02I guess. And you just become a name that people
- 43:05start putting on their resume. And I don't want
- 43:08Liam Smith to be that guy. But I hadn't seen
- 43:13this McKenna kid before, I don't think. He kind
- 43:17of surprised me. I thought he looked really good.
- 43:21Yeah, I've seen him a few times. I'm trying to
- 43:27think of how to put it, but it was a really solid
- 43:29performance. A lot better than what I've seen
- 43:32out of him previously. He had shown signs of
- 43:34it, but this was special. He looked good. Like
- 43:40I said, Liam Smith didn't look like shit. He
- 43:43just wasn't as good. I'll have to start watching
- 43:48this Aaron McKenna. I like Irish fighters usually.
- 43:54Is he Irish? Although, yeah. I guess he lives
- 43:58in the States according to BoxRec, but he's Irish.
- 44:01I'm sure that accent does really well for him.

- 47:06Chris Eubank vs. Connor Ben. I was very surprised.
- 47:13Me too. In a good way. Yes. This fight was not
- 47:17supposed to be this good. No, it was not. And
- 47:21so far this year, my fight of the year. Oh, we're
- 47:27coming up on that time. The half year. The mid
- 47:31years. There's a couple of those Japanese ones
- 47:35that I can't think of right now that are probably
- 47:38also up there. But recency bias included. This
- 47:45was a fuck of a fight. This was really fun. I
- 47:48really enjoyed it. And I think it is entirely
- 47:53because they picked the right weight for it to
- 47:56be at to make it a fun fight. I think if you'd
- 47:59have made Eubank weigh in any lower, he would
- 48:03have not been able to do it. He would have been
- 48:05drained. Yeah. Well, I just think he didn't make
- 48:09weight. He made the re -weight, but he didn't
- 48:12make weight for the day before. But if you let
- 48:17him, if there had been no rehydration clause,
- 48:23or if the weight had been slightly higher, or
- 48:26all these other things, I think Eubank just kicks
- 48:28the shit out of Conor Benn. He's just bigger.
- 48:32But whoever set this contract picked the perfect
- 48:35conditions for this fight. Man, he only missed
- 48:40weight by eight ounces. Yeah, that's half a pound,
- 48:47right? Yeah. I'm not good at ounces. And it cost
- 48:52him literally a million dollars. Half a mil,
- 48:56but yes, it cost him a lot of money. And it was
- 49:00.05. Not .5. Is it? Yeah. Oh, I misunderstood
- 49:12then. No, I misspoke. It was a very small amount.
- 49:21And he... Yeah, and he ended up losing a shit
- 49:26ton of money for it. Yep. One interesting thing
- 49:30I saw after on the internet. So the trunks were
- 49:35a recreation of the trunks that their dads wore
- 49:38during their fight. So if you look at old pictures
- 49:42or rewatch the fight, it's on YouTube. They're
- 49:46exact replicas of the shorts that their dads
- 49:48were wearing, which I thought was pretty interesting.
- 49:52And I should have clicked when Ben had Destroyer
- 49:56on the back of his shorts because that's not
- 49:58his nickname. But I didn't click. I saw it later
- 50:03in an article online. What were your thoughts
- 50:07on the Eubank -Ben fight? It was entertaining.
- 50:14It was a lot more entertaining than I could have
- 50:17possibly expected. What I didn't... What I hope
- 50:22is that nobody took too much away from it because
- 50:25it wasn't that high -level chess match kind of
- 50:32thing. No, it was not. It was not the most talented
- 50:37fight I've ever seen. Yeah, you shouldn't be
- 50:40putting either of these guys on your pound -for
- 50:42-pound list because of this. No, and also, like,
- 50:47this fight realistically shouldn't have been
- 50:50happening. They're nowhere near the same weight.
- 50:53No, they're not. Yeah, like, Ben weighed in 150
- 50:59-something. Like, he was a few pounds off. Yeah,
- 51:06I think he was 157, maybe. Yeah, 157. That sounds
- 51:12right. Ugh, Connor Ben spells his name wrong.
- 51:16What, 1N? Yeah, well, he took 1N out of his first
- 51:21name and put it on his last name. Yeah, Ben weighed
- 51:24in at 156 .5, and Eubank Jr. is listed at 160,
- 51:31but he missed it by whatever you said, like half
- 51:33an ounce. Yeah. Which is crazy. Anything more
- 51:41for Eubank? Oh, there was a rematch clause both
- 51:48ways. Oh, fun. Yeah, so... Rumor is that Ben
- 51:55wants to activate it. I don't know if I need
- 52:00to see it again. Yeah, I don't think... I don't
- 52:02feel like I need to. The rematch isn't going
- 52:06to be as good. No. Like... I just... This was
- 52:13way better than I expected, and I would like
- 52:15them to just leave it alone. Having it at the
- 52:21soccer stadium there was also kind of cool. It
- 52:25was packed. It was packed, and the crowd was
- 52:28in it. The atmosphere was great. If anybody missed
- 52:34it, it's worth going and watching. Even if you
- 52:36know who wins, it's an all action. Like they
- 52:39met in the middle of the ring multiple times
- 52:42and just swung, which is what I like. It's not
- 52:45a technical high level fight or anything. It's
- 52:49just fucking fun. Yeah. It's just two dudes beating
- 52:52each other up. Ben has a chin. Yes. Ben has a
- 52:57fuck of a chin. And Eubank, the weight. requirements
- 53:03were hard on eubank you can tell he started a
- 53:06little slow he got rocked a couple times and
- 53:09he didn't do real good in those middle rounds
- 53:13and yeah really fun i think the right guy won
- 53:18i also just don't like connor ben but people
- 53:22should go watch it it was competitive but it
- 53:26was really clear like the cards came out eight
- 53:28to four eight to four and I think one of them
- 53:31was 7 -5, and that to me was a lot closer than
- 53:35it should have been. Yeah, it was clear that
- 53:40Eubank won, I think, but it was still fun. Yes,
- 53:46absolutely. I don't know how else to describe
- 53:48it. It was just a really fun fight. If you like
- 53:51people monging out, like... This is your jam.
- 53:56And this is why I would much rather watch two
- 54:00mid -level guys who aren't that good fight than
- 54:04some fucking master class of technique and skill
- 54:08and all that stuff. Shepard Stevenson? Fucking
- 54:12boring as hell. Just, no. But, I am also not
- 54:20a high class person. I like when they do... degrade
- 54:24into just fist fights this was this was a great
- 54:27fight it was entirely worth me staying up in
- 54:30the middle of the night to watch and i wasn't
- 54:33100 sure it was gonna be and i think in japan
- 54:37it cost me like 2000 yen which is 17 bucks american
- 54:43or something yeah yeah totally worth it I will
- 54:49complain that this weekend, everywhere else in
- 54:52the world seems to get a bundle on DAZN with
- 54:55the Times Square and Canelo cards. I don't get
- 54:59to bundle them, but they are cheap. So, I mean,
- 55:02I think I'm still paying less than everybody
- 55:04else, but there was no double -header deal for
- 55:08me. I think the bundle option was $120. Yeah,
- 55:19and it's still much cheaper for me buying them
- 55:21both separately, but there was no bundle deal.
- 55:24Yeah. I think here they're each about $30. Yikes.
- 55:31That is how much they cost individually. Yeah,
- 55:36but you have to remember that they start, like
- 55:39the undercard starts at like 7 a .m. Oh, right.
- 55:43That part always does escape me. So, like, I'm
- 55:50setting alarms and waking up early to watch these
- 55:53fights on my holiday weekend. But worth it. Well,
- 56:00actually, the card today was not worth it, but
- 56:02we'll talk about that next week. Yeah, that was
- 56:05not. Moving to some stuff coming up. I forgot
- 56:15to get the info on that one. Top rank. Where
- 56:21are we starting? I'm kind of looking at it. I
- 56:26don't recognize most of these names. Giovanni
- 56:29Santillan will be fun to see where he's at. I
- 56:35do recognize his name. He's the guy who fought
- 56:38Brian Norman for the title. Should I know who
- 56:43Angel Beltran is? I don't think so. This is a
- 56:49huge side tangent, but do you remember Angel
- 56:53Manfredi? I remember the name. Yeah, yeah. That's
- 56:58all. So I didn't realize that his last name was
- 57:03Manfredi. I thought his nickname was Angel Man
- 57:07and his first name was Freddy. And I did not
- 57:12realize this until we watched the Arturo Gatti
- 57:16fight on YouTube because they give you the titles
- 57:19on YouTube. But my entire childhood, I've seen
- 57:23that fight multiple times. I've seen Angel Man
- 57:26Freddy fight multiple times. I thought his nickname
- 57:31was Angel Man and his first name was Freddy.
- 57:36I mean, that is pretty cool. name to have. It's
- 57:43still stupid, but yeah. It is a little silly,
- 57:48yes, but it's alright. It's like misheard lyrics,
- 57:54I guess. Who did Giovanni fight last time? If
- 57:58I recall correctly, it was Brian Norman. I don't...
- 58:06He's had one fight since then that I didn't see.
- 58:09But yes, Brian Norman is the one I was thinking
- 58:12of. Oh, and then you fought Frederick Lawson.
- 58:19In Phoenix. Yeah, I'm about to check what card
- 58:21that is. Yeah, I got snubbed. Happens to me a
- 58:28lot. Ix. I do not recognize this Angel guy, but
- 58:36his picture isn't very good on BoxRec either.
- 58:45Angelman Beltran? I kind of hope Santillan looks
- 58:54good. Yeah, hopefully. But I do like upsets as
- 59:00well. For the interim IBF lightweight title,
- 59:08who's the lightweight champion right now? Lomachenko
- 59:13still? Can't be, is it? I think he still is,
- 59:19even though he's a year inactive. That's ridiculous.
- 59:29Has Lomachenko only been gone a year? Yeah. Crazy.
- 59:36Seems way longer than that. But Ray Moritaya
- 59:41versus Zaur Abdullaev. Is it Abdullaev? Yes.
- 59:47No, he's Armenian. No. Also, that's not what
- 59:52I was saying yes to. Vasily Lomachenko is the
- 59:56IBF World Lightweight Champion. Of course he
- 1:00:00is. Ridiculous. This must be, yeah, you said
- 1:00:06it's for the intro. Yep. I like cheering for
- 1:00:14the guys who are in weird, or from weird countries.
- 1:00:21But Murataya should win this, right? I think
- 1:00:27so. BoxRec has them at 5th and 6th. In the IBF
- 1:00:36rankings, they are 4th and 2nd. So, evenly matched,
- 1:00:44I guess, which is good. Abdullov is originally
- 1:00:54Russian as well. Oh, okay. He lives in Armenia
- 1:00:58now, but he's Russian. I see. Yeah, I'm going
- 1:01:03to have to cheer for the American on this one,
- 1:01:05I think. That's unfortunate. That's unfortunate,
- 1:01:09you call it. But whoever wins, Lomachenko's retired.
- 1:01:19Yeah, it's enough of the games. Stop holding
- 1:01:24up the belts. IBFC is really, really good about
- 1:01:28stripping people, too. I'm kind of surprised.
- 1:01:31Yeah, I am too. And in the main event, WBO 130
- 1:01:36title, Emmanuel Navarrete versus Charlie Suarez.
- 1:01:43I love Navarrete. Yeah. I think he should win
- 1:01:48this pretty fast. Handily? Yeah, I'll stand by
- 1:01:52the pretty fast, actually. I think he's going
- 1:01:54to get a knockout. How quickly do you think?
- 1:02:02Charlie Suarez looks like such a loser on BoxRec.
- 1:02:06His picture is not nice. Oh, no. That's just
- 1:02:09unfortunate. It's unfortunate. Oh, jeez. Based
- 1:02:14on that picture, like round three. He looks like
- 1:02:19he could be a Dragon Ball Z character. He does.
- 1:02:23That is a very anime caller in that picture.
- 1:02:28Yeah. He is from the Philippines, so he's actually
- 1:02:34probably pretty durable, I would assume. Yeah,
- 1:02:37I would assume as well. I'm going to say Navarrete
- 1:02:44in the eighth round. Eighth. Eighth. That's my
- 1:02:52prediction. All right. I don't really have one.
- 1:02:59Nav should win this one, though. That much to
- 1:03:03be as clear. Anything more for top rank? Nah,
- 1:03:08I think that is a very lopsided card, to be honest.
- 1:03:13Yes, it is. The co -main should be fun. Looks
- 1:03:18like it will be. Yeah. I just don't know who
- 1:03:22this Abdullav guy is. I don't think I've seen
- 1:03:25him before. I haven't seen him before either
- 1:03:29that I can recall. He beat Jorge Linares in 2022.
- 1:03:35Pretty far past his... Yeah, I just... That's
- 1:03:44the only name I'm really recognizing. The rest
- 1:03:47of these fights were in other countries against
- 1:03:52people I don't know. It's another card. This
- 1:03:56is a pretty busy weekend, but they're not all
- 1:03:59that great. Probox, just really quick. Erickson
- 1:04:05Lubin versus Ardriel Holmes. I said it on B -Sides.
- 1:04:10This is vindication for me. Because I've been
- 1:04:13talking about Ardriel Holmes for months. Drip
- 1:04:19used to be like, who the fuck is this guy and
- 1:04:20why are we talking about him? And I'm like, just...
- 1:04:25Trust. This guy's going to be on stuff that you're
- 1:04:30watching soon. Well, everybody should be watching
- 1:04:33Pro Box anyways. Of course. Pro Box, good. Everyone
- 1:04:38else, bad. I am so pissed off that they're not
- 1:04:42in the week, though, anymore. I'm still angry
- 1:04:45about that. I don't like it either. Wednesday
- 1:04:48night was your thing. Keep doing. You should
- 1:04:53keep doing your thing. It was working really
- 1:04:56well. But that was really it. Erickson Lubin
- 1:05:00robbed Jesus Ramos. Don't forget it. Queensberry.
- 1:05:11This one will be earlier in the day. I'm actually
- 1:05:16excited for the main event on this one. I kind
- 1:05:19of forgot it was coming up, but it hasn't gotten
- 1:05:22very much press. No. There's one guy on the undercard
- 1:05:26that's worth checking out, Sam Noakes. Yeah,
- 1:05:30he was the name I recognized as well. Yep. If
- 1:05:34you haven't seen him, check him out. Otherwise,
- 1:05:37Anthony Caccacci versus Lee Wood. Yeah, I always
- 1:05:44like Lee Wood. Yeah, he's fun. He's the comeback
- 1:05:50king. I think you're right. He came back against
- 1:05:58Josh Warrington. He came back against Lara. He
- 1:06:02came back against Conlon. That Conlon last second
- 1:06:07knockout was fucking awesome. Through the ropes.
- 1:06:12In the 12th round when he was losing so badly.
- 1:06:18I don't ever... I say it all the time. I don't
- 1:06:22know why I dislike Michael Conlon so much. I
- 1:06:26just do. I actually like Michael Conlon. I was
- 1:06:29kind of sad about that. But, I mean, how can...
- 1:06:32The worst thing about Lee Wood is his haircut.
- 1:06:36I fucking hate the broccoli head bullshit. Yeah,
- 1:06:40he does have that. But... The way he spells his
- 1:06:43name, I always want to call him Lay. Oh. I know
- 1:06:48lots of people that use that as a Lee. I also
- 1:06:53know an Ashley that spells it like that. Do you
- 1:06:56have his box rec open? Yes. Lee Wood? Look at
- 1:07:00his alias. Lethal. Yeah. Lathal? Lathal. I say
- 1:07:09this, but I hope he wins. Kakachi is unfortunately
- 1:07:13a dirty fighter. Kikachi is super dirty. I don't
- 1:07:17like Kikachi. But if Lee Wood can handle Warrington's
- 1:07:23dirtiness, I think he'll be fine. I think Warrington's
- 1:07:27dirtier than Kikachi. Yes, absolutely. He was
- 1:07:35on something recently. Josh Warrington? Yeah,
- 1:07:42he fought recently. Trying to remember what it
- 1:07:45was on. He was down the bill, though. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:07:54he was really far down. What was the event? It
- 1:07:58was in his hometown. It was in Sheffield. Dalton
- 1:08:04Smith card. That's right. Versus Matthew Germain.
- 1:08:09Yeah, he fought right after Padley. Now, yeah,
- 1:08:14I remember that this was one where, for Dalton
- 1:08:18Smith, it was like, why do you not, why is this
- 1:08:22going as long as it is? This should be over by
- 1:08:25now. Yeah. But, no, I don't like Kakachi. I agree.
- 1:08:33I think he's quite a dirty fighter. The best
- 1:08:38thing about Kakachi is his name and his nickname.
- 1:08:43Yeah, the nickname is really good. The Apache
- 1:08:47Kikachi is pretty catchy. But I hope Lee Wood
- 1:08:52KOs him. I know Lee Wood's probably the underdog
- 1:08:55in this one. He's been on in age, in years. Yeah.
- 1:09:01Mileage, I should say. He might be getting on
- 1:09:06in years as well. I don't know how old he is.
- 1:09:09It is not listed. Yeah, they do that when they
- 1:09:16get inactive. They stop tracking their age. That's
- 1:09:22weird. Yeah, it is. It's not a... It doesn't
- 1:09:27change. Right. And apparently there's a nature
- 1:09:34preserve called Lee Woods as well. Imagine being
- 1:09:41named after a nature preserve. He is 36. 36?
- 1:09:46So he is also getting on in years. Yeah, I thought
- 1:09:48we were about the same age. Wow. Yeah. But I
- 1:09:55still want him to knock this asshole out. Who
- 1:09:59is also 36. Yep. I don't know. I'm definitely
- 1:10:04going to tune in for the main event on this one
- 1:10:06for sure. I think it should be fun. Leewoods
- 1:10:09is always pretty entertaining. Although Kakachi
- 1:10:14is kind of dirty and clinchy and stuff, he might
- 1:10:17try and slow it down. I think Lee Wood will box.
- 1:10:23Same way he did with Lara. Try to bring Kakachi
- 1:10:30there. And Lee Wood can fight from a distance
- 1:10:34pretty well, actually. Yeah, the second fight
- 1:10:37with Lara was fucking beautiful. He performed
- 1:10:42really well. So hopefully he can turn into another
- 1:10:47one like that. That's it for Queensberry. Last
- 1:10:51one in Japan on the 11th. You are not going to
- 1:10:58this one? I forgot about this one, but I'm going
- 1:11:03to try and buy a ticket. I don't think I can
- 1:11:06do my usual through the fighters website. I'm
- 1:11:09going to have to. maybe call in a favor but i'm
- 1:11:15gonna try and get a ticket it is in that uh ota
- 1:11:18city which is just on the other side of tokyo
- 1:11:21towards yokohama but close to tokyo i think it's
- 1:11:26in tokyo province or prefecture or whatever the
- 1:11:29fuck they call them here and uh not tokyo city
- 1:11:32okay yeah i'm pretty sure it's in ota is its
- 1:11:41own part of the prefecture yeah i don't think
- 1:11:46tokyo is actually a city at all if my understanding
- 1:11:49is correct tokyo is the province and then it's
- 1:11:54just all the cities have gotten so big that they
- 1:11:57touch each other inside the province like i think
- 1:12:01if you go back a long time shinjuku and shibuya
- 1:12:05were two separate towns with a space between
- 1:12:08but as they grew they just touch now and it's
- 1:12:12all tokyo city now oh yeah i see what you mean
- 1:12:16like kind of like the five boroughs in new york
- 1:12:20probably started out as different towns and then
- 1:12:23became new york city yeah now they're they all
- 1:12:28pretty much overlap with each other yeah the
- 1:12:31tokyo all overlaps now but I think Ota was one
- 1:12:38of the farther out cities that's just in that
- 1:12:40province. Headlining this card, Fernando Martinez
- 1:12:45versus Kasato Ioka. For the WBA super flyweight
- 1:12:52title. Yeah, I went to the first fight and it
- 1:12:57was really exciting. Ioka lost it, but it was
- 1:13:02competitive and it was exciting. I want to see
- 1:13:06the rematch. I have a feeling it's going to go
- 1:13:08the same way. I kind of feel like Ioka's just
- 1:13:12getting a little too old. Yeah, we were talking
- 1:13:17about this before we started. Like, he's 31,
- 1:13:193, and 1. That's... Oh, shit, 3, 1, 3, 1. Cool.
- 1:13:26He's on in years. How old is he? 35, 36? He's
- 1:13:3136 as well. Everybody's 36, apparently. Oh, heck.
- 1:13:37That's pretty... His style also isn't... Mileage.
- 1:13:43Yeah, yeah. He gets hit a lot. The IBF is not
- 1:13:50on the line this time. It's fucking vacant. Yeah,
- 1:13:55they stripped Fernando when he didn't... make
- 1:14:00the last fight, right? When he got sick? Yes.
- 1:14:04The co -main, Hayato Tsutsumi, I've seen him
- 1:14:08a couple times too. He's fine. He's not that
- 1:14:13good. He's not that bad. But his little brother
- 1:14:16debuted on the Times Square card. I didn't realize
- 1:14:20they were brothers until today. I didn't either.
- 1:14:23I didn't want to assume that just because they
- 1:14:26have the same name. Even though it's a bit kind
- 1:14:29of uncommon. Yeah, I just I hadn't realized they
- 1:14:34were actually brothers. So that's kind of cool.
- 1:14:37Yeah. I don't know who this Jaime Arboleda is.
- 1:14:45He's from Panama. His nickname is Jaimito. That's
- 1:14:59so cute. He fought William Zepeda in 2023. Polanco.
- 1:15:11Chris Colbert in 2020. I just don't think I've
- 1:15:23seen him. Maybe I have. I'm kind of excited for
- 1:15:30this card, but obviously not that excited because
- 1:15:33I forgot it was happening. Yeah, I had almost
- 1:15:36forgotten about it, too. Oh. That's all we got,
- 1:15:44though. Nice. Let me do the noise thing. There
- 1:15:51it is. That's where the outro stuff goes. So.
- 1:15:57What? Parting words? Yeah, we're heading into...
- 1:16:01This will be coming out on Cinco de Drinko. Nice.
- 1:16:10Heading into May 10th weekend. So I am a Toronto
- 1:16:17Maple Leafs fan. I know everybody can send in
- 1:16:19their hate mail. But the Leafs made it to the
- 1:16:22second round of the playoffs. They knocked out
- 1:16:24the Senators in... I think it was... Six games?
- 1:16:28I'm excited. Round two. Here we come. Fun. It's
- 1:16:34really hard to follow hockey in Japan. The time's
- 1:16:37not good for me, and nobody cares, but I've been
- 1:16:42trying to follow a little bit. And this week
- 1:16:45is also Golden Week in Japan, which is just their
- 1:16:50long holiday when the weather's nice. So, happy
- 1:16:53Golden Week. Happy Golden Week. That is it for
- 1:17:00this edition of Boxing Before Dark. This is the
- 1:17:04after dark edition for me. I'm still before dark.
- 1:17:10All right. We'll see you on the other side. Bye.
- 1:17:29Welcome to the fucking show! Alright, just a
- 1:17:32quick blurb, just so you can get back to what
- 1:17:34you were doing. Why would a boxing fan, let's
- 1:17:40assume they're like a purist or some shit, why
- 1:17:44would they want to watch MMA, why would they
- 1:17:47want to listen to an MMA show? I'm gonna come
- 1:17:50at this from sort of like a primal level. So,
- 1:17:53I will admit there are like some very, like...
- 1:17:57unique and like stark differences between MMA
- 1:18:00and boxing and it seems like one of the main
- 1:18:03things that keeps boxing fans away from MMA is
- 1:18:07the grappling aspect and yet sometimes it can
- 1:18:10be you know a lay and pray type of fight and
- 1:18:14it can get old but man like it's just instinctual
- 1:18:19man some of these people the way they fight in
- 1:18:22MMA It's just brutal. And I feel like that's
- 1:18:25what it comes down to when it comes to being
- 1:18:26a combat fan, a combat sports fan. I mean, we
- 1:18:31saw it just recently. Mauricio Rufi versus Bobby
- 1:18:37Green, a spinning back or spinning a wheel kick.
- 1:18:42Man, I mean, they went viral. And it's something
- 1:18:45that everyone can appreciate, even boxing fans.
- 1:18:47I know if you have a few friends that are boxing
- 1:18:50fans. who I sent him that clip. I mean, and they
- 1:18:55were amazed. One even told me that they wish
- 1:18:58they would have seen it live because seeing that
- 1:19:02type of stuff live just elicits a euphoric feeling
- 1:19:07that you can't get. I mean, it happens in boxing,
- 1:19:10too, whenever you see an amazing fight. But I
- 1:19:12just got to say, in MMA, you get those type of
- 1:19:17fights as well, just in a different type. It's
- 1:19:21different, but sort of the same. It's sort of
- 1:19:23weird how I describe it, but it's different,
- 1:19:26but the same. It comes down to that same carnal
- 1:19:29or primal instinct of just fights. Yeah, I always
- 1:19:34think the easiest transition that I always recommend,
- 1:19:39I say this all the time on Ultimate Fucking Casuals,
- 1:19:42is if you're not too keen on the grappling, Muay
- 1:19:48Thai, and kickboxing. are exactly where you want
- 1:19:52to start. Like, you start working on the kicks,
- 1:19:54the elbows, the knees, all that stuff, and you
- 1:19:58can come to learn to appreciate grappling. I
- 1:20:02never thought I would, and here I am. Yeah. Like
- 1:20:06I said, some of it is very boring, some of the
- 1:20:08grappling. It depends on the fighters, but sometimes,
- 1:20:11man, there's boring boxing fights all the time.
- 1:20:14Yeah. Yeah, no, you're true. I mean... Oh, you're
- 1:20:17right. But, man, some of these grapplers, man,
- 1:20:19these scrambles that they do, it is, like, pretty
- 1:20:22crazy just to see it. Like, you know, rolling
- 1:20:25around the floor. I mean, you can see the stuff
- 1:20:27that they're doing in between and the scrambles.
- 1:20:29I mean, it's sort of crazy. Flipping someone
- 1:20:30over, the trips. I mean, it can be fun. But,
- 1:20:34yeah, you're right. The easiest transition is
- 1:20:36definitely start out with Muay Thai, kickboxing,
- 1:20:38and, you know, slowly work your way into MMA.
- 1:20:42And, you know, this is the thing about... Of
- 1:20:45the ultimate fucking casuals. We will let you
- 1:20:47know which fights are going to be good. Which
- 1:20:50ones, you know, if you're not too in tune with
- 1:20:52the grappling, we can get maybe a little tag
- 1:20:56or a little asterisk on certain fights saying,
- 1:21:00like, this is a boxing purist type of fight.
- 1:21:03You can watch this and enjoy this. Like, we'll
- 1:21:06let you know. Yeah, we always try. Like, I came
- 1:21:10into this. The whole show was started with me.
- 1:21:12I didn't know shit. about MMA. I'd never really
- 1:21:15seen an MMA fight in its entirety in my entire
- 1:21:18life. And I came into this with nothing. And
- 1:21:21yeah, that's where we're at now is like, we're
- 1:21:24talking like I make sure I go out of my way to
- 1:21:27bring up Muay Thai and bring up kickboxing so
- 1:21:30that people know like this for boxing fans to
- 1:21:34know this is what this is where you can start.
- 1:21:38All right. Well, yeah, that was about it. I really
- 1:21:41appreciate your time. Thanks, Isaac, for jumping
- 1:21:44on real quick. Thanks for having me on. All right.
- 1:21:47All right. Just to get right into it, Nathan,
- 1:21:54you and I both tried the Strikeman dry fire system.
- 1:22:00What did you like about it? No, scratch that.
- 1:22:04What did you dislike? about uh i tried i have
- 1:22:08the 380 acp and i have the 65 creedmoor what
- 1:22:12did you test out and what did you dislike just
- 1:22:14to start off so i got the uh 223 556 caliber
- 1:22:20uh system um and really my only um complaints
- 1:22:28really just came from the platform i was using
- 1:22:30so i my 556 is a AR -15 platform, semi -automatic.
- 1:22:37Just in that context, a little tough to use because
- 1:22:42it requires the trigger to be reset before every...
- 1:22:46So it's pulling the charging handle over time,
- 1:22:48right? Right. You're not relying on the gunpowder
- 1:22:52resetting your... recycling around, so you have
- 1:22:56to rack that thing back and let the bolt fly.
- 1:23:01But, that being said, there's plenty of other
- 1:23:04uh you know different types of systems that use
- 1:23:08five five six you don't have to use uh ar style
- 1:23:13and the auto system yeah work in that context
- 1:23:16when you when you have a big old bolt like that
- 1:23:18um sorry i lost my train of thought there let
- 1:23:24me chop that up but in in that context um it
- 1:23:27was a little tough to use I think this is a system
- 1:23:31that's much more oriented towards either bolt
- 1:23:34action or a pistol style where you could just
- 1:23:37rack the slide, reset the trigger, and then you're
- 1:23:42ready to go. Yeah, I had a similar experience
- 1:23:46on the 6 .5 Creedmoor. I have a bolt action,
- 1:23:49so you don't have to go through the full range
- 1:23:53of motion to get it reset, but you do still have
- 1:23:56to pop. the bolt and then put it back down to
- 1:24:00get, to get the trigger reset. But as you were
- 1:24:03alluding to the pistol version, I have my three
- 1:24:0780 is a single action, double action. So I don't
- 1:24:11have to rack the slide, but I can't, I do still
- 1:24:14have to pull down the, uh, the hammer a little
- 1:24:16bit to get it to fire off. Gotcha. Uh, what about
- 1:24:23the, what did you think about that? I thought
- 1:24:26the app was really cool. The setup was very easy.
- 1:24:30It took less than five minutes to get the whole
- 1:24:32stand and phone configured. I do really like
- 1:24:36a lot of the gamified features that are kind
- 1:24:38of put in there. So there's like some different
- 1:24:40challenges and you can get on kind of leaderboards
- 1:24:43and do matches with people. And I think that's
- 1:24:46just really cool because, you know, when it comes
- 1:24:48to getting better at shooting. one of the best
- 1:24:51ways to do that is learning how to shoot under
- 1:24:54pressure and so having something that's very
- 1:24:57low stakes like this you know that is a it's
- 1:25:00gonna force you to be accurate but um it's gonna
- 1:25:04do so in a way where it's making you you know
- 1:25:08you're not just doing it repetitively to range
- 1:25:11you're trying to almost beat yourself or beat
- 1:25:12a friend and that competition you know that raising
- 1:25:16of the stakes is gonna help you become a calmer
- 1:25:18shot over time i think I really enjoy that aspect
- 1:25:21of the app. Yeah, that's something I've heard
- 1:25:25discussed when it comes to pressure shooting
- 1:25:28is your max effective range, cut that in half,
- 1:25:33and that's about what you're looking at shooting
- 1:25:35under pressure. So if you're practicing with
- 1:25:40friends, it makes it a lot easier than, I don't
- 1:25:45know, we'll call it a zombie apocalypse. You
- 1:25:48know, when you don't have walkers coming down
- 1:25:50to your face, that's a whole lot easier to just
- 1:25:53play around with friends. And also, you're doing
- 1:25:56it without spending any money on ammo. Like,
- 1:25:58obviously, we've all just happened to the stock
- 1:26:01market these last few days, and ammo could become
- 1:26:04significantly more expensive. But now with the
- 1:26:07Strikeman laser firearm training system, you
- 1:26:13don't have to spend oodles of money on ammo.
- 1:26:17You can take your time in the comfort of your
- 1:26:19own home and practice all you want. Man, that
- 1:26:23was actually kind of tough, like moving it back.
- 1:26:25I started off at what was it like? Like 10 feet.
- 1:26:33And then I moved it back to 20. And even that
- 1:26:36just that little bit was still like, man, I did.
- 1:26:39I thought I was good, but I apparently need a
- 1:26:43lot more practice. but good to find out here
- 1:26:48i think being on that timer too really shows
- 1:26:51like oh wow this is kind of the gap in in skill
- 1:26:55that i i need to work on you know there might
- 1:26:57be it's also different ranges this is similar
- 1:27:01to like archery or long range shooting really
- 1:27:03but like you could be really good at 100 yards
- 1:27:06but you go out to like 125 or an odd number and
- 1:27:09all of a sudden you're you're messed up oh right
- 1:27:12so this this is you know being able to very quickly
- 1:27:15just change the the ranges that you're shooting
- 1:27:17at again just in your home in your backyard whatever
- 1:27:20like that's a really really helpful uh skill
- 1:27:25you can hone with this system Yeah. Well, overall,
- 1:27:32I would call this a, what, four out of five buy?
- 1:27:36It really depends on what it is that you're trying
- 1:27:38to do or what you're trying to practice with.
- 1:27:42I can't speak to any of the other calibers, but
- 1:27:45if it's like a handgun caliber, I always say
- 1:27:49if you can get a single double, get a single
- 1:27:53double. But I know that's not useful for everyone.
- 1:27:58nonetheless, it should still help to increase
- 1:28:02your max effective range under pressure. Like
- 1:28:05I said, cut your original in half. Yeah, and
- 1:28:10I agree with that recommendation. I think any
- 1:28:12kind of pistol caliber is really well suited
- 1:28:15to this system. I think if you're going to do
- 1:28:18rifle, I think bolt action is probably going
- 1:28:21to be your best bet. But yeah, I definitely concur
- 1:28:24with your assessment on on its usefulness as
- 1:28:27a pistol training tool, which I think is, if
- 1:28:29you look at, I think it's what they're aiming
- 1:28:31for. Yeah, I think so too. When they were marketing
- 1:28:34this. So they did well there. I think they have
- 1:28:37shotgun gauges as well. Like that's kind of wild.
- 1:28:42Not what I would have expected for like a dry
- 1:28:46fire kind of training thing, but hey. Oh, that
- 1:28:49sounds like it would actually work because you'd
- 1:28:52just be... for a pump action. Yeah. You just,
- 1:28:55you know, right. Yeah, that's right. So. All
- 1:29:01right. Well, Nate, thanks for jumping on real
- 1:29:03quick. Just wanted to get a little bit on the
