- 1:56Speaker 1: I love it when they call in All time is
- 1:58Speaker 1: a branding strategist? Is the definition of doing it all
- 2:01Speaker 1: with style. With over twenty years of experience, This beauty
- 2:05Speaker 1: and branding experts, work and production products have been featured
- 2:08Speaker 1: on networks like Bravo, I watched that network, BT, grew
- 2:12Speaker 1: up on that network, NBC, My Network, CBS and more.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Founder of the CEO Chick Network and your Beauty Expert.
- 2:20Speaker 1: She is also the author of a book I just
- 2:22Speaker 1: finished reading called Brand to Bucks, and a motivational speaker.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Please welcome to money Making Conversation Colleen or Tero. Hey, Hey, hey, hey,
- 2:32Speaker 1: good morning. You know that I got the name correct?
- 2:35Speaker 1: Everything was right right? Okay? Cool? Yes, now I know
- 2:42Speaker 1: I can't say that now, but you did it better
- 2:44Speaker 1: than me. How to say it now? Brand to Bucks
- 2:50Speaker 1: a no nonsense, no nonsense guy to building a six
- 2:53Speaker 1: figure brand. What does that mean? Yes? Yes, you know.
- 2:58Speaker 1: It means be able to monetize your brand, being able
- 3:04Speaker 1: to monetize your gifts and your talents. You can have
- 3:08Speaker 1: a brand and not have a business. Yes, you can
- 3:11Speaker 1: have a business and I have a brand, and so
- 3:15Speaker 1: it really means being able to set up a system.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I talk about it in the book as you have read,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and it just talks about being able to create a
- 3:23Speaker 1: brand first of all that people desire, that people are
- 3:27Speaker 1: attracted to, um filling a need, you know, and then
- 3:31Speaker 1: building a system around it. You know, there's so many
- 3:35Speaker 1: different ways you can make money. I myself propriate. I
- 3:39Speaker 1: do several things. There's low hanging through, there's digital product there,
- 3:43Speaker 1: there's products that go where you don't you know, and
- 3:46Speaker 1: you can't. So that's important to be able to have
- 3:49Speaker 1: something that you can ship to people. It means having
- 3:51Speaker 1: something they can download. It means uh for me. The
- 3:55Speaker 1: membership you mentioned ceo Chicks, you know, that's my paying
- 3:59Speaker 1: memberships where people are going for information, for community, for
- 4:04Speaker 1: to be able to network. There's higher packages where if
- 4:07Speaker 1: they want to hire me for branding more one on
- 4:10Speaker 1: one time, a high touch product to a low touch product.
- 4:14Speaker 1: So there's so many ways to make money. There is
- 4:18Speaker 1: no shortage. You know. I know that that. Yeah, I
- 4:23Speaker 1: know I brought you on for brand to Bucks. But
- 4:24Speaker 1: the the ceo Chicks Network really called my eye because
- 4:28Speaker 1: it's an interactive mastermind group of established and expiring women entrepreneurs.
- 4:32Speaker 1: So there's a perfect, perfect, you know, perfect seguey to
- 4:36Speaker 1: you know your CEO Chick Network, tell us about that
- 4:39Speaker 1: because there's a there's a is there a monthly fee
- 4:42Speaker 1: or there a fee to doing and what are the
- 4:44Speaker 1: advantages and what do they gain if they become a member?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Because I want to get a banner so I can
- 4:48Speaker 1: promote that for you. Oh man, I would love that. Yes,
- 4:52Speaker 1: the CEO chicks is it's where it's sad. It's about community.
- 4:55Speaker 1: We get together, we collaborate, we create, and we dominate.
- 4:59Speaker 1: That's mantra is that we have to get out here
- 5:03Speaker 1: and we have to create jobs. We are the ones
- 5:05Speaker 1: to create the change we want to see in our communities.
- 5:08Speaker 1: And uh so we have a lineup of amazing coaches.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Christina Bull my financial advisor overseas more than uh fifty
- 5:16Speaker 1: million dollars plus. She's also over diversity and inclusion for
- 5:21Speaker 1: Edward Jones here in Central Florida. UM Jennifer Enders, she's
- 5:25Speaker 1: corporate sales. She oversees high high seven plus figures beyond.
- 5:31Speaker 1: For AMEX, she's our corporate chick. She helps CEO understand
- 5:35Speaker 1: how to build structure and to create, you know, a
- 5:39Speaker 1: legit organization because as I said before, you can have
- 5:42Speaker 1: a brand and out of business and we see it
- 5:44Speaker 1: way too often and we have a mental coach. We
- 5:48Speaker 1: have a she's a licensed mental therapist and she's all
- 5:52Speaker 1: about wellness, teaching our ladies how to handle the stress
- 5:56Speaker 1: that comes with success. And that's a whole a nother
- 5:59Speaker 1: conversation as as how do I, how do I find
- 6:03Speaker 1: it and what is the steps walking through the steps
- 6:06Speaker 1: of becoming a part of this CEO Chick. Absolutely, you
- 6:12Speaker 1: go to the website ceo Chicks online dot com, you
- 6:15Speaker 1: would click join, you would select the package that best
- 6:18Speaker 1: fits you. There are three of them right now. It's annual.
- 6:21Speaker 1: It's an annual fee. From there, you'll decide and it
- 6:24Speaker 1: has it all written out. Whether you are looking for
- 6:26Speaker 1: more one on one coach and whether you're just looking
- 6:28Speaker 1: for community. It's all listed there. We are huge and
- 6:33Speaker 1: supporting other female entrepreneurs and we engage. We engage online.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Every week. We have a class that we you know,
- 6:39Speaker 1: you're able to log on into the webinar one of
- 6:42Speaker 1: our coaches are teaching. We have different guests. Um next
- 6:45Speaker 1: week we're gonna have Clorinda McGrady with us. We're we
- 6:49Speaker 1: have Jay Bowland. We were on with Jay Bowland. He's
- 6:51Speaker 1: gonna be at our conference. Uh celebrity styles. J Bowland
- 6:54Speaker 1: will be with us in March at our conference. So
- 6:57Speaker 1: it's just bringing the goods. It's it's no hype and all.
- 7:01Speaker 1: How to we need to see fruit. We need to
- 7:04Speaker 1: we need to grow our businesses. We we can't just
- 7:06Speaker 1: rely on government. We can't rely on you know, some
- 7:10Speaker 1: some single women and they're not relying on the man.
- 7:12Speaker 1: They're not gold diggers. They they're gonna we gotta figure
- 7:15Speaker 1: this thing out, you know, together. So that's the twenty
- 7:18Speaker 1: four hours of the day. Is there a time where
- 7:22Speaker 1: uh did you guys respond? How does that work? And
- 7:25Speaker 1: that because its own line and you go it's digital,
- 7:28Speaker 1: So how does it work as far as responsive or
- 7:31Speaker 1: do you have set events weekly or said days that
- 7:34Speaker 1: you do any live broadcast? A little bit more details? Great? Yeah,
- 7:39Speaker 1: great question. Yes, we go live every Monday and we
- 7:42Speaker 1: have a private group at nine pm. We go live
- 7:45Speaker 1: every Eastern Standard time. We go live Monday. I need
- 7:48Speaker 1: a banner. I need a banner for Monday so I
- 7:51Speaker 1: can go live. What you tell my fans? Okay, absolutely, yea.
- 7:55Speaker 1: So I'm working with you. I'm working with your CEO, CEO.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I'm working with you. Now these are for these are
- 8:01Speaker 1: for the members. Yet, so we do have some courses
- 8:04Speaker 1: that are free for not No know, what I'm saying
- 8:06Speaker 1: is that you know, I will promote it that but
- 8:10Speaker 1: they gotta pay now, you know, I'm saying. They would
- 8:11Speaker 1: go to the website, you're interested, go here. And it
- 8:13Speaker 1: started this and I promoted a couple of times, so
- 8:15Speaker 1: people get understanding that it's something you speak based. So
- 8:18Speaker 1: create the banner for me. I wouldn't be creating and
- 8:21Speaker 1: tell me how you wanted to market. It's your brand.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I'm trying to just know how to do that. You
- 8:26Speaker 1: go every Monday, we we go live. We're doing some great,
- 8:32Speaker 1: great things and so I'll make sure you have the
- 8:34Speaker 1: banner of the information. We have special guests with us.
- 8:37Speaker 1: You have to join us so you can speak to
- 8:39Speaker 1: the ladies. It's it's just a great, great thing. It's
- 8:42Speaker 1: I'm after quality over quantity, over women that know how
- 8:46Speaker 1: to get together, collaborate and dominate. I love that. So
- 8:50Speaker 1: let's go back to the book because I wanted to
- 8:51Speaker 1: just talk about that because I felt it was important,
- 8:54Speaker 1: because it was live, it was engagement and you're you're
- 8:57Speaker 1: your energy person. And because of the fact that that's
- 9:00Speaker 1: what I'm happy to have you on my show, and
- 9:01Speaker 1: I definitely want to bring you back if your time permits,
- 9:04Speaker 1: because I feel that it's like I said, it's about
- 9:06Speaker 1: the brand is by messaging, is by magnetism, which I
- 9:09Speaker 1: word I took from her book and and and it's
- 9:15Speaker 1: really important that we understand the value of consistency. And
- 9:18Speaker 1: that was one of the things I took from the
- 9:20Speaker 1: book too, is that you know, if you want to
- 9:21Speaker 1: have a brand, you're gonna have all these elements of success.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Then you're one of the things that is most important
- 9:27Speaker 1: is being consistent with your messaging. And I had to
- 9:30Speaker 1: find out about myself and started to find who Rashan
- 9:33Speaker 1: McDonald is. And that's what you're saying about yourself, is
- 9:36Speaker 1: that you know, Rashan, who you are is equally important
- 9:39Speaker 1: as what people know about you. And if they know
- 9:43Speaker 1: about you, if they have value associate with that, then
- 9:46Speaker 1: they'll spend money. And that's what you're achieving with the
- 9:48Speaker 1: CEO Chicks Network. You're saying, there's value there, or come
- 9:52Speaker 1: here and we are mentor you were asked questions for
- 9:55Speaker 1: you will motivate you and inspire you because you have
- 9:58Speaker 1: a home to go where you can ask questions and
- 10:01Speaker 1: be not a series of experts, not just one person,
- 10:05Speaker 1: but a series of experts. We have to guide you
- 10:07Speaker 1: to the next steps of success. Did I said your
- 10:09Speaker 1: brain good enough for you? Breakast? You did? You did?
- 10:12Speaker 1: And the book it's the bestseller. Yes, it exactly, Yes,
- 10:16Speaker 1: because it is it's definitely needed. A lot of times
- 10:19Speaker 1: people do not slow down enough. You know, they get
- 10:22Speaker 1: an idea, they're excited about it. They look for something
- 10:25Speaker 1: cute and hot pink in our cases a lot of
- 10:28Speaker 1: women tend to do. All women don't like hot pink,
- 10:30Speaker 1: by the way, and then they'll they'll go out there,
- 10:33Speaker 1: you know, they go out there, get a business card,
- 10:35Speaker 1: get get a quick wick site or whatever the cases,
- 10:38Speaker 1: and they're running. They're they're out there. I commend people
- 10:41Speaker 1: with with with the boldness and the courage to run,
- 10:44Speaker 1: but they have to give it some time. They have
- 10:47Speaker 1: to process what is the experience that you are wanting
- 10:49Speaker 1: to create, because, as I mentioned in the book, branding
- 10:52Speaker 1: is not just what's scene, it's what's felt. So you
- 10:56Speaker 1: have to really sit down and say, what experience do
- 10:59Speaker 1: I want to create from my customer. That that's the
- 11:01Speaker 1: secret sauce that that's what makes you different from your competitors,
- 11:06Speaker 1: is that experience that you create. You know, the that's
- 11:10Speaker 1: the branding is like the spirit of the organization. It's
- 11:13Speaker 1: it's the moral, it's the it's the energy, it's the vibe,
- 11:17Speaker 1: it's the you know, it's that thing that just keeps
- 11:19Speaker 1: people saying something so different about you. It's just that's
- 11:22Speaker 1: the secret, Sauce. It really is a good book, all right,
- 11:25Speaker 1: because it's one of those interesting books that you run
- 11:28Speaker 1: across because you know, when you had a career like
- 11:30Speaker 1: mind on the inter professional environment IBM college educated, I
- 11:35Speaker 1: worked to entertainment work with many corporate corporate cinients over
- 11:39Speaker 1: the years. She's talking about how you should what you
- 11:42Speaker 1: should wear, you know, the popular social media sites and
- 11:46Speaker 1: what value each one's bringing to your brand. She talks
- 11:49Speaker 1: about you what what the steps of what you what
- 11:52Speaker 1: you offer, and descriptions of what that means to your brand.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Because it's a book that the word brand is thrown
- 11:58Speaker 1: out there a lot and speaking and it's been really
- 12:01Speaker 1: abused because a lot of people don't know what you're
- 12:03Speaker 1: talking about when they say that. But most importantly, I
- 12:06Speaker 1: just wanted to say thank you for coming on my
- 12:08Speaker 1: show because of the fact that I need some banners
- 12:11Speaker 1: from you, because now that you allow me to read
- 12:13Speaker 1: your book, I got to do my job. Okay, and
- 12:16Speaker 1: my executive producer. If you ever want to sign some
- 12:18Speaker 1: books and send them to me, I'll be clapping to
- 12:20Speaker 1: put him in my two thirty fan club mailing lists
- 12:24Speaker 1: and offer them to my fans. Absolutely, thank you so
- 12:27Speaker 1: much for having me, Rashaan. This was great, and we
- 12:29Speaker 1: will be back. And I got a lot of work
- 12:31Speaker 1: to do. I got a lot of Brandon to do
- 12:32Speaker 1: for you. We'll be right back with more from Marsha
- 12:40Speaker 1: McDonald and money making conversations. Don't touch that down. Yeah,
- 12:44Speaker 1: we sort of stopped paying attention and racked up a
- 12:46Speaker 1: lot of debt. Yeah, it was stressful. He blamed me
- 12:49Speaker 1: for my credit card debt and I blamed him for
- 12:51Speaker 1: building that man cave. It's awesome anyway, we stopped blaming
- 12:54Speaker 1: each other. Dinner homework and read that a smart way
- 12:57Speaker 1: to consolidate debt is to get a fixed rate loan.
- 13:00Speaker 1: But getting a loan was brutal and a time drain.
- 13:03Speaker 1: So I was in my man cave researching personal loans
- 13:06Speaker 1: and I found best Egg. They have an A plus
- 13:08Speaker 1: rating with the B B B and best Egg handles
- 13:11Speaker 1: everything online start to finish, and Consumer Affairs gave best
- 13:14Speaker 1: egg five stars for their easy online loan app. And
- 13:17Speaker 1: we could be approved and funded and as little as
- 13:19Speaker 1: one business day. I applied online with no impact my
- 13:22Speaker 1: credit score. She always takes credit from my wins. But
- 13:25Speaker 1: long story short, she got an awesome loan, paid off
- 13:28Speaker 1: our cards and some bills while lowering our monthly payment.
- 13:32Speaker 1: The best egg loan was like a total fresh start.

- 17:35Speaker 1: put ellery, put onions in there, so that that's that's
- 17:39Speaker 1: already set aside, and then I got to dive into
- 17:41Speaker 1: the desserts. You see, And I feel like there's two
- 17:44Speaker 1: different types of people for Thanksgiving. It's the people like
- 17:47Speaker 1: you that are ready that I'm playing and they're ready
- 17:49Speaker 1: to go. And then it's the one panic and like,
- 17:50Speaker 1: oh no, what am I supposed to do that? I
- 17:52Speaker 1: don't know what to cooking turkey like that. It's two
- 17:54Speaker 1: types of people. Okay, you already got your set, so
- 17:56Speaker 1: I'm here to help those people that come. That's what
- 17:58Speaker 1: I'm talking about, because you know, talk to me. But
- 18:00Speaker 1: first before we start talking about that, let's talk about
- 18:02Speaker 1: your show, your TV show. I got to see it again.
- 18:05Speaker 1: How's everything going where you're excited? Uh? How? Because you
- 18:08Speaker 1: were saying digitally or just blowing up on I mean,
- 18:13Speaker 1: it's it's such a blessing. I mean it's called Let's
- 18:15Speaker 1: Eat and I'm co hosting with two other dynamic hosts,
- 18:18Speaker 1: and it's on the Food Network app and you could
- 18:19Speaker 1: see it online. So a lot of people are like, oh,
- 18:22Speaker 1: I missed the show on TV. I'm like, Nope, You're
- 18:24Speaker 1: never gonna miss the show because it's always on your phone.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I'm always with you anyway. Time you want to steev
- 18:29Speaker 1: and cook with me, I'm right there. So we do
- 18:31Speaker 1: all different types of food and we have lots of fun,
- 18:34Speaker 1: and we give lots of recipe ideas and tips and
- 18:36Speaker 1: stuff like that. So that's why I'm here today. I'm like,
- 18:39Speaker 1: I want to give people lots of ideas to to
- 18:42Speaker 1: kind of take that stress away from the holidays, because
- 18:44Speaker 1: you really should be having a good time with family,
- 18:46Speaker 1: not worrying about how are you going to get this
- 18:47Speaker 1: done and and cooking and burning stuff like it shouldn't
- 18:50Speaker 1: be that type of holiday. It should be a fun time.
- 18:53Speaker 1: You know, Well, it's a fun time for people who
- 18:55Speaker 1: want to eat. Okay, everybody want to eat good food.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Some food. This should be out of people's hands before
- 19:03Speaker 1: it's destroyed. And I'm gonna go and say that too.
- 19:06Speaker 1: But before we're going to further, I know, I made
- 19:08Speaker 1: a commitment to you your brand that I was supported
- 19:11Speaker 1: on my social media. Have I been delivering on that absolutely?
- 19:15Speaker 1: And I appreciate people like you because you have such
- 19:18Speaker 1: a dynamic platform and you extend that out to people,
- 19:21Speaker 1: touches myself. So every Wednesday you have been profiling a
- 19:24Speaker 1: recipe and it's been such a great response. I mean,
- 19:26Speaker 1: people in the comments like, I want to make that.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I made that and it turned out great. So I'm
- 19:30Speaker 1: so grateful to you for doing that, and you keep
- 19:33Speaker 1: your wards so I appreciate well, well, I appreciate you
- 19:35Speaker 1: doing it because of the fact that my fansy they're
- 19:38Speaker 1: they're curious group, you know, they are opinionated group too,
- 19:42Speaker 1: and they want to if they make something, I can
- 19:44Speaker 1: make it better. I go cool, don't be challenging me.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I'm just putting it out here just to let you
- 19:49Speaker 1: know there are people out there who don't know how
- 19:51Speaker 1: to cook. And that's what that's that's your role in life.
- 19:54Speaker 1: The rolling life is not. They're professional out there. People
- 19:56Speaker 1: who think they're professional. You're not gonna change their mind.
- 19:59Speaker 1: You know, they got RESI. They don't even pull out
- 20:02Speaker 1: a cup or tea spot. They just start making stuff,
- 20:04Speaker 1: you know, just they say I love watching some cooking show.
- 20:08Speaker 1: They say a half a cup and it just grabs
- 20:10Speaker 1: something with their hands, just put in there like that's
- 20:15Speaker 1: just cooking with instincts. You can't really teach that. It's
- 20:18Speaker 1: just a gut feeling, you gotta know. But everybody doesn't
- 20:21Speaker 1: have that. So for the people that don't have it,
- 20:22Speaker 1: they have to follow a recipe. That's okay too. You
- 20:25Speaker 1: can get your tea spoons and measuring cups and you
- 20:27Speaker 1: can flow right along with us. And you know, our
- 20:29Speaker 1: relationship is a long term because we met when I was,
- 20:32Speaker 1: you know, running into the co created Steve Harden Morning
- 20:35Speaker 1: Show with Steve Harvey and I was executive producer and uh,
- 20:38Speaker 1: I used to come over there and because here's your phone,
- 20:40Speaker 1: we had to deal with her phone and used to
- 20:43Speaker 1: make the recipes. Now at the time, where were you
- 20:45Speaker 1: in transitioning because of the fact that I knew you
- 20:48Speaker 1: was had had a corporate job. So what I want
- 20:51Speaker 1: to just talk about a little bit about that too,
- 20:53Speaker 1: because a lot of people are sitting and listening to
- 20:56Speaker 1: the show trying to make decisions, afraid to make decisions
- 20:59Speaker 1: about what they really want to do versus what they're
- 21:01Speaker 1: actually doing currently. How did you make that decision? Well,
- 21:05Speaker 1: and you know what I think for anybody listening, if
- 21:07Speaker 1: you're wondering, like should I do this? Can I do this?
- 21:10Speaker 1: This is the best time to do that In twenty nineteen,
- 21:13Speaker 1: I encouraging everybody to take that leap of faith because
- 21:16Speaker 1: it wasn't and it's not easy for anybody. It definitely
- 21:18Speaker 1: wasn't easy for me. I mean I started. I had
- 21:20Speaker 1: my degree in marketing, and I thought that's what I
- 21:22Speaker 1: wanted to do. But i found myself going to a
- 21:24Speaker 1: job every day and I'm like, this is not this
- 21:26Speaker 1: can't be the rest of my life. I'm not being fulfilled.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I'm sitting at a desk. This it's not my purpose.
- 21:31Speaker 1: And I wasn't really sure what I fully wanted to do.
- 21:33Speaker 1: And I definitely wasn't thinking about being on television. I
- 21:36Speaker 1: just knew that that wasn't the right place for me.
- 21:39Speaker 1: And when they started laying people off because businesses started
- 21:41Speaker 1: going crazy, and it was like, this is your moment.
- 21:44Speaker 1: They were like, we can demote you and you can stay,
- 21:47Speaker 1: or you can just just take your papers and go.
- 21:50Speaker 1: And I'm the only person in the office that was
- 21:52Speaker 1: that raised my hand, was like, let me go, And
- 21:54Speaker 1: in that moment, I wasn't. I still wasn't sure. And
- 21:56Speaker 1: you don't have to have a one of the plan.
- 21:58Speaker 1: You just got to start walking by faith, because you
- 22:01Speaker 1: know what you're capable of. You know that if you
- 22:03Speaker 1: you want to be a chelf or you want to
- 22:04Speaker 1: be a cook, you know what your talent, you know
- 22:06Speaker 1: what you're good at, and that's what you're supposed to pursue.
- 22:09Speaker 1: You really should be happy every day about what you're doing.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Me right now, I am living the dream. I mean,
- 22:15Speaker 1: I started my own business um as a personal chef
- 22:17Speaker 1: and a caterer, and transition that into auditioning for reality
- 22:21Speaker 1: TV shows on on the Food Network and just doing
- 22:25Speaker 1: those those things you never know where they're gonna take you.
- 22:27Speaker 1: And from that, I mean years later, I'm still on
- 22:30Speaker 1: television and now I'm doing bigger and better things, appearing
- 22:33Speaker 1: on daytime talk shows. I'm gonna be on Good Morning
- 22:35Speaker 1: America on Thursday, cooking for Thanksgiving. That there's nowhere on
- 22:42Speaker 1: my paper here about. I just slipped that in because
- 22:45Speaker 1: I'm just so excited because it's blessings like that. I'm like,
- 22:48Speaker 1: that is one of my dream morning shows. And then
- 22:50Speaker 1: to get an email like we want you to come
- 22:52Speaker 1: cook for Thanksgiving and you can't write that, you can't,
- 22:54Speaker 1: you can't plan that that is just being a part
- 22:57Speaker 1: of the process and walking in faith and you just
- 22:59Speaker 1: got to see where God hates you. And that's really
- 23:01Speaker 1: how I ended up where I am. We're good. Let's
- 23:02Speaker 1: talk about what you're gonna make on the Good Morning
- 23:04Speaker 1: America Thanksgiving Thursday. What are you gonna make one good morning? Well,
- 23:09Speaker 1: the thing is where I really want I'm I'm calling
- 23:12Speaker 1: myself the chef Tom. I am your non one one
- 23:15Speaker 1: survival guide, and like it's really about people that, like
- 23:18Speaker 1: I said, that wanted that start to panic and it
- 23:20Speaker 1: could be a lot of pressure, especially if this is
- 23:22Speaker 1: your first time cooking for something. You've got a lot
- 23:24Speaker 1: of family coming over and you're like you're starting to
- 23:26Speaker 1: feel that anxiety of oh, I don't want to ruin this,
- 23:29Speaker 1: so you want to pull it off. So that's really
- 23:30Speaker 1: what I'm here to kind of put people at ease
- 23:32Speaker 1: and let you know it's okay. It's just a turkey.
- 23:35Speaker 1: He can't beat you. Like you can do this. But
- 23:38Speaker 1: it's really about getting everything in order. So you got it,
- 23:41Speaker 1: And I call it the three piece. We're gonna plan,
- 23:44Speaker 1: We're gonna prep, and then it's time to party, y'all.
- 23:46Speaker 1: That's really what it is. And it's Monday, so you
- 23:50Speaker 1: should already have your checklist. You should have already gone
- 23:52Speaker 1: shopping and making sure that everything is in place so
- 23:55Speaker 1: that the last minute you're not sending somebody to the
- 23:57Speaker 1: store like, oh, go give me some sugars, go give
- 23:59Speaker 1: me some flower Like if you're doing that, you're it's
- 24:01Speaker 1: going to start to fall apart. You better be ready
- 24:03Speaker 1: to rock and roll now. Now I was looking at
- 24:06Speaker 1: the sweet potato bread pudding. Now I'm gonna tell you
- 24:12Speaker 1: I do the I do a raising bread pudding and
- 24:15Speaker 1: I do a sweet potato pie. Okay, it seems like
- 24:18Speaker 1: you put those together without the raisins. It's the most
- 24:21Speaker 1: amazing dessert because it's like a sweep potato pie meet
- 24:25Speaker 1: your Grandma's bread pudding. And you can do pumpkin in
- 24:27Speaker 1: that too, if you if you're a pumpkin person, you
- 24:30Speaker 1: know it's a battle of sweetato in the pumpkins on
- 24:32Speaker 1: where you live? What you can you walk me through
- 24:38Speaker 1: that step because you know I'm putting my my cheff
- 24:42Speaker 1: of Sean had on, you know. Okay, Okay, we do that.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Like I said, I know how to do the sweet
- 24:48Speaker 1: potato pie. I know how to do that, because I
- 24:50Speaker 1: can make a sweep pie for my staff tomorrow, and
- 24:53Speaker 1: I'm gonna make the raising bread putting. Tell me how's
- 24:56Speaker 1: that done? How do you make that? Well, you're gonna
- 24:58Speaker 1: start with You're gonna peel and dice about a pound
- 25:01Speaker 1: of sweet potatoes and you can boil them off just
- 25:03Speaker 1: to get them for tender. If I'm in a rush,
- 25:05Speaker 1: I even pop them in the microwave for about six
- 25:07Speaker 1: to eight minutes just to get them. And you're gonna
- 25:10Speaker 1: leave the swep potatoes there, and then you're gonna start
- 25:12Speaker 1: in your bread pudding. So you can use the day
- 25:13Speaker 1: old bread, a French bread, Italian bread, any type of
- 25:16Speaker 1: crusty bread that you have thick cut and you'll do
- 25:18Speaker 1: it maybe about six to eight cups of that, and
- 25:20Speaker 1: then you start with the bread pudding parts. You know,
- 25:22Speaker 1: you've got to have your milk in there. We can
- 25:25Speaker 1: do sugar. I do sweet condensed milk, sweeten. So I
- 25:28Speaker 1: mean I'm cinnamons. And you know what my secret is.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Everybody write this down. It is freshly graded nutmeg, not
- 25:35Speaker 1: just the one you shake out of there. You take
- 25:36Speaker 1: that microplane, you you get that nutmeg and you greated
- 25:39Speaker 1: across the top. That is what's going to take your
- 25:42Speaker 1: bread pudding to the next level where people are like,
- 25:44Speaker 1: what is that? Because it's just so distinct in that flavor.
- 25:47Speaker 1: You're gonna combine the sweet potatoes with your bread and
- 25:50Speaker 1: all your milk and your sugar and everything, and soak
- 25:52Speaker 1: that in there for about thirty minutes, and you're gonna
- 25:55Speaker 1: break baking in your baking dish the same way you
- 25:57Speaker 1: would do your regular bread pudding. And the sea potato
- 26:00Speaker 1: just adds a little bit of color, a little bit
- 26:02Speaker 1: of flair, a little more texture, a little more sweetness
- 26:04Speaker 1: to it, and you're baking off any other oven until
- 26:06Speaker 1: it is beautiful golden brown. And you know it's ready
- 26:09Speaker 1: because the whole house smells just like heaven. I mean,
- 26:12Speaker 1: it is just bubbling delicious. And I love to top
- 26:14Speaker 1: it off. I put a little bourbon in mind if
- 26:17Speaker 1: you want to kick it up and droll and now
- 26:20Speaker 1: we can. You gotta warm people. Don't let the kids
- 26:23Speaker 1: get in this, but I do it. At the end.
- 26:24Speaker 1: This win ses you have the famous chef Jamika sweepertator pie.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Sweepertator Pie meets bread pudding, Grandma's bread pudding bam on

- 27:06Speaker 1: building that man cave. It's awesome anyway, we stopped blaming
- 27:10Speaker 1: each other, did our homework and read that a smart
- 27:12Speaker 1: way to consolidate debt is to get a fixed rate loan.
- 27:15Speaker 1: But getting a loan was brutal and a time drain.
- 27:18Speaker 1: So I was in my man cave researching personal loans

- 31:05Speaker 1: How are you good? Uh? You know, I was trying
- 31:08Speaker 1: to read a book, like like the day before, I
- 31:11Speaker 1: talked to someone and because everything becomes naturally, my conversation
- 31:15Speaker 1: and the conversation we are having today is about you
- 31:19Speaker 1: as a person. Who have you come to grips with
- 31:22Speaker 1: your with the whole concept of weight and who you are,
- 31:25Speaker 1: because that was the story of the book. Because the
- 31:28Speaker 1: book is about the front part of the book is
- 31:30Speaker 1: about your journey that the back part of the book
- 31:33Speaker 1: is about how you can lose weight and you're motivating people.
- 31:36Speaker 1: You have a little area back in the book where
- 31:37Speaker 1: you can pick notes and all those things. Correct. Yes,
- 31:41Speaker 1: but the book is the book starts where see the
- 31:46Speaker 1: whole point of the book to weight W E I
- 31:48Speaker 1: G H. It's not just about weight loss. It's about
- 31:53Speaker 1: the weight of the pressure as well as women that
- 31:57Speaker 1: we have to endure on a day to day basis,
- 32:00Speaker 1: as far as being mother's wives, um you know, if
- 32:03Speaker 1: we're caregivers, sisters, spree and you know all of the
- 32:07Speaker 1: different um TETs that we have to have to win
- 32:10Speaker 1: on a day to day basis, and the pressure was
- 32:13Speaker 1: having to be beautiful and flawless in the face of
- 32:16Speaker 1: all of them, which is not really realistic at the
- 32:19Speaker 1: end of the day. So there's the dilemma there. There
- 32:23Speaker 1: imposes the dilemma of having to be perfect in the
- 32:26Speaker 1: public eye and societal in society's eye, when that's not
- 32:30Speaker 1: even achievable. Perfection is just not a cheapable So um.
- 32:34Speaker 1: The book starts off with body image and how those
- 32:39Speaker 1: negative seeds of me growing up as a young girl
- 32:42Speaker 1: were planted and how they festered, and how it distorted
- 32:45Speaker 1: my perception of what I should look like and who
- 32:48Speaker 1: I should you know, who I should be. But then later,
- 32:51Speaker 1: you know, after going through all the things that I
- 32:54Speaker 1: had to go through, which was really learning all the
- 32:56Speaker 1: lessons that I needed to learn. I was through all
- 33:00Speaker 1: of the smoke, the blue smoke and mirrors and kind
- 33:02Speaker 1: of find myself and kind of find where I'm supposed
- 33:05Speaker 1: to be and how I can use that pressure in
- 33:09Speaker 1: my life as a negative as a positive way. And
- 33:12Speaker 1: you are in life, you know. So it's that's the
- 33:15Speaker 1: self help, you know, just taking a negative and turning
- 33:19Speaker 1: it into a triumph. Well, the thing about it I
- 33:23Speaker 1: liked about the book is that and not that, And
- 33:25Speaker 1: I don't never say I like something just to be
- 33:27Speaker 1: liking it, you know, because I have you on the show,
- 33:30Speaker 1: because I'm a fan of you, of yours, and then
- 33:32Speaker 1: also when you had this book, you know, the thing
- 33:35Speaker 1: that caught me off was that it is it's a
- 33:37Speaker 1: motivational book, because I think that you have to share
- 33:41Speaker 1: a part of your life for people to understand when
- 33:43Speaker 1: you're giving advice, it's coming from an honest place. And
- 33:45Speaker 1: that's what you get from this book. It's coming from
- 33:47Speaker 1: an honest place. And exactly the reason I say that,
- 33:50Speaker 1: because I'm just talking about disable complix, which I don't
- 33:53Speaker 1: do is give away the book. I want you to
- 33:54Speaker 1: buy this book. It's a very good book, and she
- 33:57Speaker 1: broke it down the daughter, the athlete, artists to celebrity,
- 34:01Speaker 1: the wife, the mother, the fighter, the woman to conquer
- 34:04Speaker 1: up and each one of these titles define a very
- 34:07Speaker 1: important role in your life, which I think that if
- 34:09Speaker 1: you're a reader, if you're a reader of this book,
- 34:13Speaker 1: you will find yourself in one of these chapters. Am
- 34:16Speaker 1: I correct? Absolutely? Absolutely, And that was the whole purpose
- 34:21Speaker 1: of breaking it down that way, because there are different
- 34:24Speaker 1: stages that we have in life, and we're not one dimensional.
- 34:27Speaker 1: People are not one dimensional. You know, there are plays,
- 34:29Speaker 1: there are lots, There are a lot of different fascists
- 34:32Speaker 1: to to us as human beings, and I think that
- 34:35Speaker 1: it we need to to point out the fact that
- 34:38Speaker 1: we have to operate from different fascists of who we
- 34:40Speaker 1: are at all, sometimes at the same time, and that
- 34:44Speaker 1: can be very stressful. And I think that one of
- 34:48Speaker 1: the ways to kind of sit through that is to
- 34:51Speaker 1: buy is to be, is to be able to identify
- 34:53Speaker 1: what those different characteristics are. You know, the interesting thing
- 34:59Speaker 1: interesting things of out your book. This is the thing
- 35:01Speaker 1: about your book is that you know the number one
- 35:04Speaker 1: thing is said, don't ever ask a woman her weight, Okay,
- 35:08Speaker 1: and you have no problems that you know in your book.
- 35:12Speaker 1: You know you talk about weight at different important moments
- 35:15Speaker 1: in your life. Now, why is that important? And because
- 35:22Speaker 1: because I know why. But I just went from a
- 35:25Speaker 1: listeners standpoint, from a potential readers standpoint. Why did you
- 35:28Speaker 1: expose yourself like that in this book? Well, because I'm
- 35:33Speaker 1: not ashamed of who I am or afraid of who
- 35:35Speaker 1: I am. And being that I have a bachelor's degree
- 35:38Speaker 1: in nutrition science, I understand the difference between being my body,
- 35:43Speaker 1: body weight, the scale, the measuring case. All that is romantic.
- 35:49Speaker 1: It's really about how you feel in your hip to
- 35:51Speaker 1: waste ratio that's going to determine your health. Your waistline,
- 35:55Speaker 1: how big is your waistline? And I know with black women,
- 35:58Speaker 1: most of us are shaped while our waistlines are smaller
- 36:01Speaker 1: than our hips. And if you just if you determine
- 36:04Speaker 1: um your body size and type based on weight, which
- 36:07Speaker 1: can actually you can easily be a hundred and fifty
- 36:10Speaker 1: five pounds and be in tip top shape at five four,
- 36:13Speaker 1: but according to societal standards, that's overweight. So I have
- 36:18Speaker 1: no problem, you know, talking about how much I weigh
- 36:20Speaker 1: because it's good for my size. I know that my
- 36:23Speaker 1: height and weight are good, you know, and I'm very
- 36:26Speaker 1: very healthy. I can outrun most I work out five
- 36:29Speaker 1: six days a week, and I eat right, so I
- 36:32Speaker 1: know that I'm healthy. I'm not ashamed of my body.
- 36:34Speaker 1: And that's something that I had to come into because
- 36:37Speaker 1: that wasn't always the case. I wasn't always the case,
- 36:41Speaker 1: so I had to learn that. You know, we all
- 36:44Speaker 1: come in different shapes and sizes, and just because you're
- 36:47Speaker 1: very thin doesn't mean that you're healthy. And so my
- 36:50Speaker 1: goal is to be healthy and happy and so whatever
- 36:53Speaker 1: that is and whatever that looks like, I'm okay. And
- 36:57Speaker 1: you definitely have found it in this book and a
- 36:59Speaker 1: book I'm talking about. The weight is over Weight is
- 37:02Speaker 1: spelled w E I G H T is over My
- 37:05Speaker 1: journey to Loving my body from the outside end and
- 37:09Speaker 1: forewords by my bar Michael Eric Dyson. And we all
- 37:12Speaker 1: know he can talk and he's and something to say.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Now I got you for another break, but I wanted
- 37:18Speaker 1: to talk about, you know, relationship, the importance of your
- 37:21Speaker 1: husband and your life to support the anchor, you know,
- 37:24Speaker 1: and I know the importance of having an anchor in
- 37:26Speaker 1: my life because of the fact that when things are bad,
- 37:29Speaker 1: you really need somebody you can turn to. Okay, even
- 37:32Speaker 1: when these are good, you need somebody you can turn
- 37:34Speaker 1: to and share it because they've been on that journey,
- 37:38Speaker 1: they up and down journey. Just give us some of
- 37:40Speaker 1: some some great things about your husband, you know, on
- 37:43Speaker 1: this Thanksgiving week and Christmas is coming up and high
- 37:46Speaker 1: important heeds play a role he's played in your life. Well,
- 37:49Speaker 1: first of all, it is my very best friend and
- 37:53Speaker 1: I'm extremely blessed to have him in my life. Without him,
- 37:57Speaker 1: first of all, without him I would not have my
- 37:59Speaker 1: to a fulfien. So that's first of all, um. Second
- 38:03Speaker 1: of all, Key One taught me how to really love myself.
- 38:06Speaker 1: I think that he was the key component because he
- 38:09Speaker 1: showed me what that love looked like on the outside,
- 38:13Speaker 1: jin the outside looking in loving yourself from the outside end.
- 38:17Speaker 1: But he showed me how to love myself from the outside.
- 38:19Speaker 1: He loved me no matter what, no matter what size.
- 38:22Speaker 1: You know, I'm pregnant. I'm two hundred and sixty pounds pregnant,
- 38:25Speaker 1: and I'm thinking, how am I gonna lose all this weight?
- 38:28Speaker 1: He doesn't care. He's still loving me regardless. He's still
- 38:31Speaker 1: loving me. What there's no makeup when my hair in calm,
- 38:34Speaker 1: all of that. So if a person can love you
- 38:37Speaker 1: unconditionally like that, how is it that you can't love yourself?
- 38:41Speaker 1: And you have your brain you sit over, you have
- 38:42Speaker 1: an opinion, and I can see why you have an opinion,
- 38:45Speaker 1: because you've lived a good life and the life that
- 38:47Speaker 1: than to be shared and relatable. That's why I understand
- 38:51Speaker 1: you a lot more now since I've read this book,
- 38:53Speaker 1: and more people should read this book because they'll understand
- 38:55Speaker 1: you a lot more now and find you even more
- 38:58Speaker 1: relatable because what happens is when your celebrity people see
- 39:01Speaker 1: you only through that lens of a song or video performers.
- 39:06Speaker 1: When you read her book the weight is over the
- 39:08Speaker 1: weight weight spelled W E I G h D, you'll
- 39:11Speaker 1: find out she's just as human as you are. Uh huh,
- 39:15Speaker 1: that's right. So she Lean Lifestyle, How can we find
- 39:19Speaker 1: about that? Is it? Uh? What tell us about that?
- 39:24Speaker 1: Or she Lean Lifestyle is a a lifestyle company. It's
- 39:28Speaker 1: just what it is. Um. It's not a company to
- 39:31Speaker 1: promote a diet. Um. Even though there is a digital
- 39:34Speaker 1: workout DVD that I put together with some some of
- 39:39Speaker 1: my favorite trainers and favorite women called Mommy's Guest Soul. Um.
- 39:43Speaker 1: It's like a beginner workout for women who have just
- 39:46Speaker 1: had children or women who are pregnant, and it's actually
- 39:49Speaker 1: a hard workout, like you really could get I mean
- 39:51Speaker 1: do it and lose weight. I've had I did. She
- 39:53Speaker 1: she leaned bastidor program or a a woman lost seventy pounds
- 39:56Speaker 1: with it. So um um another last another last seventeen
- 40:01Speaker 1: you know. So it does work and it comes with
- 40:04Speaker 1: a meal plan, but it's not rocket science, you know. Um.
- 40:08Speaker 1: For some people it is some people it is rocket science,
- 40:10Speaker 1: and some people need that written out description of what
- 40:14Speaker 1: to do, and so I provide that on she Lean
- 40:16Speaker 1: Life dot com. Um. You can get it at the website,

- 40:25Speaker 1: be a place for women to be able to go
- 40:28Speaker 1: to and get all the information they need for self betterment,

- 40:39Speaker 1: need that ourselves. I'm a fan of yours, so I'm
- 40:44Speaker 1: a fan of yours. I'm gonna tell you something else
- 40:45Speaker 1: before I let you go. When I that part of
- 40:47Speaker 1: your book, when y'all see your mom in the basement
- 40:49Speaker 1: and you guys are doing Jane Funder videos, I was
- 40:53Speaker 1: afraid you had me a Jaine fund of videos because
- 40:55Speaker 1: I was a rob reconstructor and I had on my
- 40:58Speaker 1: little leotars and my leg warm and girl, you brought
- 41:01Speaker 1: back so many memories when I hit that section. But
- 41:03Speaker 1: your friend, just get those banners over there. I'm a bill.
- 41:06Speaker 1: There's a relationship because it gets what you're special, he
- 41:09Speaker 1: went in, Okay, we'll be right back with more from
- 41:15Speaker 1: mar Tohn McDonald and money making conversations. Don't touch that down. Yeah,
- 41:20Speaker 1: we sort of stopped paying attention and racked up a
- 41:23Speaker 1: lot of debt. Yeah, it was stressful. He blamed me
- 41:26Speaker 1: for my credit card debt and I blamed him for
- 41:28Speaker 1: building that man cave. It's awesome anyway, we stopped blaming
- 41:31Speaker 1: each other, did our homework and read that a smart
- 41:34Speaker 1: way to consolidate debt is to get a fixed rate loan.
- 41:37Speaker 1: But getting a loan was brutal and a time drain.
- 41:40Speaker 1: So I was in my man cave researching personal loans
- 41:42Speaker 1: and I found best Egg. They have an A plus
- 41:45Speaker 1: rating with the B B B and best egg handles

- 41:59Speaker 1: my credits. She always takes credit from my wings. But
- 42:02Speaker 1: long story short, she got an awesome loan, paid off

- 45:12Speaker 1: include Vogue, Variety, Essence, l Ebony and more. Please work
- 45:17Speaker 1: on the money making conversation for Licia Leatherwood. Hello, how
- 45:22Speaker 1: are you come on? You? You you got a lot
- 45:25Speaker 1: to talk about talking about, you know to men? You
- 45:27Speaker 1: am I gonna talk that long? You have a career
- 45:29Speaker 1: twenty six years. Tell us how it all started. Uh. Well,
- 45:35Speaker 1: of course, like a lot of women who may or
- 45:38Speaker 1: may not admit this, my mother didn't know how to
- 45:40Speaker 1: do my hair. I had to take matters into my
- 45:45Speaker 1: own hands. And you know, back in the day, we
- 45:47Speaker 1: didn't have all these wonderful natural hair products that we
- 45:50Speaker 1: do now. Uh. We had pro line, some soft shine,
- 45:54Speaker 1: you know, things like that. So basically, I am started
- 45:58Speaker 1: doing my own hair. I was my first client. And
- 46:02Speaker 1: from that point, when you say that doing your own hair,
- 46:07Speaker 1: what does that mean, I have a daughter? I mean
- 46:09Speaker 1: I actually had to take the comb, the brush, the
- 46:13Speaker 1: pony till holders, all those things and come up with stuff,
- 46:17Speaker 1: getting the mirror and try to figure out my texture
- 46:19Speaker 1: because my hair was a bit rough growing up. You know,
- 46:23Speaker 1: it wasn't soft, it was dry. There were a lot
- 46:27Speaker 1: of uh, just a lot of issues. And when you're
- 46:29Speaker 1: young like that, it's built into your self esteem, you know,
- 46:33Speaker 1: if your hair doesn't look like the other girls on
- 46:35Speaker 1: the block. So I wanted to look or feel pretty.
- 46:40Speaker 1: It's a young girl, you know, and that included my hair.
- 46:43Speaker 1: And so I am basically asked my mom if I
- 46:46Speaker 1: could do my own hair. And she said sure, and
- 46:48Speaker 1: they kept going from that point. Now, m it's a
- 46:53Speaker 1: difference from uh you learning it in your own it
- 46:56Speaker 1: becomes a childhood. It was about your beauty, it's about
- 46:59Speaker 1: self fixedeen what what's your esteem? When did you realize
- 47:03Speaker 1: that this is something that you should be doing as
- 47:06Speaker 1: a career. I think that I was working in corporate
- 47:12Speaker 1: America and I didn't feel the freedom I felt when
- 47:16Speaker 1: I was working on hair, like when I was doing
- 47:19Speaker 1: people's hair and how they would feel so good and
- 47:22Speaker 1: beautiful after I finished. I didn't have that same accomplished
- 47:25Speaker 1: feeling going into work, punching a clock, being in a
- 47:30Speaker 1: very high air conditioned room in a cubicle with a
- 47:34Speaker 1: bunch of people that I felt like I was doing
- 47:36Speaker 1: most of the work for. So for me, I decided
- 47:41Speaker 1: when I remember just being frustrated and looking out the
- 47:43Speaker 1: window of my uh you know building and saying I
- 47:46Speaker 1: want to be outside, and I said, you know, I'm
- 47:49Speaker 1: gonna take a chance and I'm going to figure this
- 47:52Speaker 1: out and go to Consont school. Because I went to
- 47:55Speaker 1: school late. I went to school at like thirty one. Um,
- 47:59Speaker 1: and most people when they go to constetology school, they
- 48:01Speaker 1: go at like nineteen twenty, they start young. But I
- 48:04Speaker 1: left Corporate America. I a little four one K plan
- 48:07Speaker 1: and all that to pursue hair. And everybody was like, well,
- 48:12Speaker 1: what makes you think hair is the way? There's a
- 48:14Speaker 1: hairsauce on every corner. What's gonna set you aside and
- 48:18Speaker 1: make you different? And natural hair was what made me
- 48:21Speaker 1: different because at that time there weren't any natural hair specialists,
- 48:26Speaker 1: and I only wanted to work on women that had
- 48:28Speaker 1: my texture because I knew what I went through as
- 48:30Speaker 1: a child and I didn't want anybody else to stuffer
- 48:33Speaker 1: through that now. So you know, really I love it,
- 48:38Speaker 1: you know story because it happened to me when you
- 48:41Speaker 1: when you lead Corporate America. Because everybody sees that that
- 48:45Speaker 1: income at eight to five, you know, lunch break, you
- 48:48Speaker 1: get up, you go home, vacation for one k. But
- 48:52Speaker 1: when you step out of that that lane, how are
- 48:55Speaker 1: you gonna make money? Are you sure? Did you pray
- 48:59Speaker 1: on this? Yeah, well don't come this way if you
- 49:02Speaker 1: if you, if you make a mistake, I love you,
- 49:04Speaker 1: but I don't love you that much. So so what
- 49:07Speaker 1: made you go ignore that, ignore the doubters to say
- 49:11Speaker 1: this is I've slept on it because I remember when
- 49:14Speaker 1: I left IBM. I made a decision a year in
- 49:17Speaker 1: advance to leave IBM, and I remember when I made
- 49:20Speaker 1: that decision. I actually had tears in my eyes because
- 49:22Speaker 1: it was such an emotional moment for me to say
- 49:25Speaker 1: that I was gonna do it. Because there's a lot
- 49:27Speaker 1: of people. Do understand, when you make these decisions, they
- 49:29Speaker 1: don't happen overnight. You you you have you have to
- 49:32Speaker 1: build confidence within yourself. You have to believe that because
- 49:36Speaker 1: there are so many people who don't believe it. You know,
- 49:38Speaker 1: they pat you on the back to you actually tell
- 49:39Speaker 1: them the truth, and then all of a sudden they
- 49:41Speaker 1: kind of scatter from you because they don't want to
- 49:43Speaker 1: be there and they think you're making a big mistake.
- 49:45Speaker 1: So you incorporate America people already to you got a
- 49:48Speaker 1: hairshops everywhere. How are you gonna jump out there, miss thing?
- 49:51Speaker 1: How are you gonna go out there and and make
- 49:53Speaker 1: a difference? How are you gonna get a check? You
- 49:55Speaker 1: know what? What? What? What? What was the driving forcing you? What? What?
- 49:58Speaker 1: Really think? One of the things that we don't do
- 50:02Speaker 1: enough of us, We don't look at our resources. There's
- 50:07Speaker 1: so many different types of resources we have around us
- 50:10Speaker 1: that we do not use. Um and I noticed people
- 50:13Speaker 1: don't ask for help. They don't know how to ask
- 50:16Speaker 1: for help. Uh. And I don't mean asked call somebody
- 50:19Speaker 1: and ask them to give you money because someone and
- 50:22Speaker 1: asked them if they know someone in your field or
- 50:25Speaker 1: doing what it is that you want to do, who
- 50:27Speaker 1: can give you advice? Like those are key tools, you know,
- 50:31Speaker 1: is to get the proper advice from people. And so
- 50:34Speaker 1: for me, what I did was I was already leaving work,
- 50:38Speaker 1: leaving my nine to five and doing hair after work,
- 50:41Speaker 1: doing hair on the weekends, and I had to sit
- 50:44Speaker 1: down and look at the money I was making. I said,
- 50:47Speaker 1: let me not count this money moment to moment or
- 50:50Speaker 1: day to day. Let me look at what I'm making
- 50:52Speaker 1: in a month just off of doing hair, and let
- 50:54Speaker 1: me compare it to the salary I make at work. Now,
- 50:59Speaker 1: if I leave this job, if I let's say I'm
- 51:01Speaker 1: making half the money I made that work and I
- 51:05Speaker 1: leave the job, that means I can make more. So
- 51:07Speaker 1: it would only make sense to leave the job and
- 51:11Speaker 1: and to act on faith. And the other thing I
- 51:14Speaker 1: had was a very good resume. So if it didn't
- 51:16Speaker 1: work out. I could always go back to corporate America,
- 51:19Speaker 1: but that wasn't what I wanted. And when you really
- 51:24Speaker 1: want something and you have the will and the willpower
- 51:28Speaker 1: to get it, it manifest. And so it's so important
- 51:33Speaker 1: for us to recognize how strong our will is and
- 51:36Speaker 1: how bad we wanted and to go for it, because
- 51:39Speaker 1: that means the God is trying to tell you something.
- 51:42Speaker 1: It's your time. And so I don't think that people
- 51:45Speaker 1: understand that they feel that feeling they want to move
- 51:49Speaker 1: and they want to change, that they left fear interrupted,
- 51:52Speaker 1: and that's not what it's there for. That that feeling
- 51:55Speaker 1: of change and move means it's your time. You're saying
- 51:58Speaker 1: things to me and saying things to my listeners that
- 52:00Speaker 1: are going to change their lives, their life and their
- 52:03Speaker 1: lives male and female, and so so what you always
- 52:07Speaker 1: realize that your brand because of social media and I'm
- 52:10Speaker 1: not telling anything you don't know. I'm just asking you
- 52:13Speaker 1: to understand that your value is so tremendous and to
- 52:17Speaker 1: have you on my show is because your value is
- 52:19Speaker 1: so tremendous. And anytime you get back, because this is
- 52:22Speaker 1: a version of giving back, I'm using your name to
- 52:25Speaker 1: get back and educate people of color. M hm. So
- 52:31Speaker 1: I UM have been. I really want for people to
- 52:35Speaker 1: get involved and not because you know anybody because Oprah said,
- 52:42Speaker 1: a Will Smith said, or you know, but just be
- 52:45Speaker 1: motivated to support your community. I am, um really a
- 52:50Speaker 1: big advocate for supporting black owned businesses, and I go
- 52:54Speaker 1: around the community and find businesses to showcase because I
- 52:59Speaker 1: think people don't understand what social media. We have a
- 53:03Speaker 1: lot of followers, We have a lot of people listening
- 53:05Speaker 1: and watching us, and that is our chance to use
- 53:08Speaker 1: our influence to showcase others. So if I have a
- 53:13Speaker 1: hundred thousands followers on Instagram, then I'm trying to put
- 53:17Speaker 1: other people down that don't have that, that are starting businesses,
- 53:21Speaker 1: but businesses with integrity. So make sure like your business
- 53:24Speaker 1: is gonna do what it says it's gonna do, and
- 53:27Speaker 1: that you have good uh customer service about your business
- 53:33Speaker 1: if things go go haywire. But um, I really like
- 53:37Speaker 1: to support in that way in my community by going
- 53:40Speaker 1: around and showcasing black owned businesses that are newly operating
- 53:46Speaker 1: or that have been around for a while. Uh. And
- 53:49Speaker 1: today there is an event um and here in Los
- 53:53Speaker 1: Angeles at my friends home and it's for the homeless veterans.
- 53:58Speaker 1: And a lot of my colleagues, barbers and hairstylists are
- 54:03Speaker 1: going from ten am this morning at four pm down
- 54:08Speaker 1: to the homeless um house and they're gonna be servicing
- 54:12Speaker 1: the homeless Petrians today so they can get free haircuts
- 54:15Speaker 1: and hairstyles and facials. So I donated brushes to that.
- 54:20Speaker 1: I've donated money to to the organization. UM there is
- 54:26Speaker 1: uh also um some thing's happening over in West Africa
- 54:30Speaker 1: and uh in Nigeria and in Senegal where they're raising
- 54:35Speaker 1: money for schools uh there, and so I support in
- 54:40Speaker 1: that way, and I just really try my best to
- 54:43Speaker 1: let people know what's happened so we can all get involved. Felicia,
- 54:46Speaker 1: thank you for coming on my show. I will be
- 54:49Speaker 1: ordering two or those Detangler brushes today. And you keep winning,
- 54:52Speaker 1: young ladies, You keep winning. Okay, Yeah, we sort of
- 54:57Speaker 1: stopped paying attention and wracked up a lot of that.
- 55:00Speaker 1: Uh it was stressful. He blamed me for my credit
- 55:02Speaker 1: card debt and I blamed him for building that man cave.
- 55:05Speaker 1: It's awesome. Anyway, we stopped blaming each other, did our
- 55:08Speaker 1: homework and read that a smart way to consolidate debt
- 55:11Speaker 1: is to get a fixed rate loan. But getting a
- 55:14Speaker 1: loan was brutal and a time drain. So I was
- 55:16Speaker 1: in my man cave researching personal loans and I found
- 55:19Speaker 1: best Egg. They have an A plus rating with the

- 55:36Speaker 1: She always takes credit for my wins. But long story short,
- 55:39Speaker 1: she got an awesome loan, paid off our cards and
- 55:42Speaker 1: some bills while lowering our monthly payment. The best Egg
