- 0:48Speaker 1: Making Conversations of for consumers and business owner and everyday people.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I give you access to celebrity CEOs, entrepreneurs and what
- 0:55Speaker 1: I like to call industry decision makers. My next because
- 0:57Speaker 1: she's a celebrity. She's an interest decision makers. She's somebody
- 1:00Speaker 1: that work in the past. She's Porsche Coman. She's an
- 1:03Speaker 1: accomplished actress, singer, and star on the Netflix series Dad
- 1:06Speaker 1: Stopped Embarrassing Me. I saw this really funny. Porsche's multi fasted.
- 1:10Speaker 1: The career includes guest starring and real curring roles and
- 1:12Speaker 1: hit TV series like Silicon Valley Bowlers, Good Girls Switched
- 1:17Speaker 1: their birth to Parkers, Wild and Out along Time my
- 1:19Speaker 1: board Nick Cannon, she played an addicted mother and the
- 1:22Speaker 1: powerful TV Jake's film Woman Die Out Loose. She's also
- 1:25Speaker 1: a very familiar face and I've never got the commercial,
- 1:28Speaker 1: so I gotta ask her how she does this in
- 1:30Speaker 1: boost Mobile smart car had the ex president Tory Yota.
- 1:33Speaker 1: She's on the show to talk about her career and
- 1:35Speaker 1: most importantly, her starring role in the new Jamie Fox
- 1:38Speaker 1: Netflix to come Daddy Stopped Embarrassing Me. It premiers April fourteen.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Please working to body making conversations, porstr Colon, How are
- 1:46Speaker 1: you doing, Porscher? I'm good. First of all, that intro
- 1:50Speaker 1: was amazing, Thank you so much. Por First of all,
- 1:54Speaker 1: as they say, I don't lie, I tell the truth.
- 1:56Speaker 1: You know, she keeps one. I heard it was all
- 1:59Speaker 1: true much to you know, know, I gotta just get
- 2:02Speaker 1: the secret. You know. I had a little career out
- 2:04Speaker 1: there as an actor, and I really I kind of
- 2:07Speaker 1: blew up as a producer and the writer. But I
- 2:09Speaker 1: tried acting, and I audition for so many commercial portion
- 2:14Speaker 1: I don't know how how do you get a commercial?
- 2:16Speaker 1: How does one land of commercial? You know what? The
- 2:20Speaker 1: commercial game is so tough, But it's all about the smiles.
- 2:23Speaker 1: It's all about lightning up. Because remember most commercials are
- 2:26Speaker 1: thirty seconds. You don't have a lot of time. You
- 2:28Speaker 1: gotta come out the gate in the audition room quick,
- 2:31Speaker 1: get to the point, and then hopefully captivate them that fast,
- 2:34Speaker 1: and then that's how you can get a commercial. Really,
- 2:37Speaker 1: you you are not giving me any advice. Still long,
- 2:40Speaker 1: so you're just saying, Rachel, I'm gifted, I'm beautiful, I
- 2:44Speaker 1: got the natural I have with the people. No, no, no,
- 2:46Speaker 1: I gotta say that you boost mobile. No, it depends
- 2:50Speaker 1: boost Mobile. Okay, here's the funny thing. Boost Mobile. I
- 2:52Speaker 1: was required to talk really really really really really really fast.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I had to see a bunch of words within like
- 2:57Speaker 1: fifteen seconds. And I guess I was the best to
- 2:59Speaker 1: do it because I booked commercial and I was doing
- 3:02Speaker 1: and then Miller Lite was just a beer commercial, just
- 3:05Speaker 1: the girl who was like the cute bartender. So it depends.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But you still gotta be able to get delivered the
- 3:10Speaker 1: dialogue and say it quick and make them love you quickly. Well, congratulations,
- 3:15Speaker 1: that's a skill set. And like I said, we met
- 3:18Speaker 1: on the sitcom many years ago when I was writing
- 3:21Speaker 1: for Doing Consultant right before r at the same time period,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I was managing Steve Harvey comedy. You do comedy, you
- 3:26Speaker 1: do drama. Talk about that. And now you're on a
- 3:29Speaker 1: very successful drama comedy on Netflix starring my man Jamie Fox,
- 3:33Speaker 1: because I was co executive on the Jamie Fox Here's
- 3:36Speaker 1: along with Bentley Evans. I know Ken Winnenham. I know
- 3:39Speaker 1: so many people in that show. When I saw the
- 3:41Speaker 1: cast and the production sheet, let's go, I need to check.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I need to check. I know all these people. Where
- 3:46Speaker 1: are you at? Exactly? Know everybody? So talk about your
- 3:50Speaker 1: ability and that's just about your talent. And that's why
- 3:52Speaker 1: I really wanted to interview you, because it's so diverse,
- 3:55Speaker 1: it's so it's so it allows for you to not
- 3:58Speaker 1: be intimidated by the audition opportunity. Talk about that ability
- 4:01Speaker 1: to correct from drama to go to sitcom because they
- 4:04Speaker 1: all have different shades. They do have different shades, and
- 4:08Speaker 1: I like you, you're speaking from an actor and producer standpoint.
- 4:11Speaker 1: It's like it's it's you call it shades, and in
- 4:13Speaker 1: the actors we call it tone. So the tone of
- 4:16Speaker 1: a drama is totally different than the tone of a comedy.
- 4:18Speaker 1: And comedy you're speaking faster, you're moving faster. The dialogue
- 4:22Speaker 1: is is meant to want to punch and then onto
- 4:24Speaker 1: the next joke. When it comes to dramas, you know,
- 4:27Speaker 1: it's like you have to set up the storyline, you
- 4:29Speaker 1: have to deliver it differently, you have to deliver it
- 4:31Speaker 1: slower a lot of times. So I think going back
- 4:34Speaker 1: and forth between you know, The Parkers a long time ago,
- 4:37Speaker 1: and we did The Parkers, fast forward into Silicon Valley,
- 4:40Speaker 1: fast forward into Wild and out with your stand up
- 4:42Speaker 1: comedy all the way to you know the movie I
- 4:45Speaker 1: did with TV Jakes, Women that are loose, all different tones,
- 4:48Speaker 1: but still it's always the root of understanding the character
- 4:51Speaker 1: and really bringing it to life based on their backstory,
- 4:54Speaker 1: their age, and their circumstances, and once you kind of
- 4:57Speaker 1: delve into that, then you can just kind of play
- 4:59Speaker 1: with wherever the character is going and where you feel
- 5:01Speaker 1: like they should be at that moment in the scene.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And then you had and I remember, it's so funny.
- 5:06Speaker 1: As I hear you talk, you was in there a
- 5:08Speaker 1: movie with Mike elp So with the Jenkee Promoters or
- 5:11Speaker 1: something like Promoters. Was so funny. That movie when When
- 5:15Speaker 1: is one of my It's one of my movies when
- 5:17Speaker 1: I when I'm when I'm going through at night and
- 5:19Speaker 1: I got I gotta watch it, I gotta watch it.
- 5:22Speaker 1: So Jankee Promoters is Jenkie and so funny. Yeah, I'm
- 5:25Speaker 1: not seen Jenkee Promoters Mike as ice Cube are hilarious. Yes, yes, yes,
- 5:31Speaker 1: I was in a lot of people don't I was funny.
- 5:36Speaker 1: He is so was hilarious, right. People never think they
- 5:39Speaker 1: think hard ice Cube, you know, you think he's mean
- 5:43Speaker 1: and just like this hard guy when you see him
- 5:45Speaker 1: do comedy and even when you saw him in Friday,
- 5:47Speaker 1: like he was hilarious and Friday. But JAKEE Promoters, he's
- 5:50Speaker 1: like this approw wearing, slick talking promoter who's got to
- 5:53Speaker 1: do what he does to rob Peter to pay Paul
- 5:56Speaker 1: to get money for this concert. And it does not
- 5:58Speaker 1: go well, and I let him know that I need
- 6:00Speaker 1: my money. Don't play with me, don't disrespect me getting
- 6:03Speaker 1: my money. Yes, but that's why. So you in the
- 6:07Speaker 1: sense I was just laying there the audience now before
- 6:08Speaker 1: we get to the sit calm, Where does she from?
- 6:11Speaker 1: This is? She had comedy chops? How didn't catch it?
- 6:14Speaker 1: Because I don't want anybody to thank you trying because
- 6:16Speaker 1: you're attractive, you know, because people do that, you do that,
- 6:19Speaker 1: you know she's a cute, they won't love you. Your
- 6:22Speaker 1: talent to shine talk about getting that stereo type that
- 6:26Speaker 1: happens all the time. And because I've been fortunate to
- 6:29Speaker 1: be a part of your career early on, watching you know,
- 6:33Speaker 1: telling the world about you and watching your smile, I
- 6:36Speaker 1: went Jakie promoters right. I think I'm very distinctive looking
- 6:41Speaker 1: in a way because people I don't care even now
- 6:43Speaker 1: with the whole mask thing. If they see this, they
- 6:46Speaker 1: see my eyes and know my eyes, and then if
- 6:47Speaker 1: I have no mask, it's like, oh my god, I
- 6:49Speaker 1: know your lips and I know the space and it's like,
- 6:51Speaker 1: I guess I'm recognizable, which I love. So it's like
- 6:53Speaker 1: I'm distinctive. And all the parts that I've gotten have
- 6:56Speaker 1: been various roles, of course, but in the same sense
- 6:59Speaker 1: that it's all still it's a part of who I am,
- 7:02Speaker 1: every character that I've taken on, and especially this one currently,
- 7:05Speaker 1: it's like it's one of the most, you know, the
- 7:07Speaker 1: most exciting products that I've been a part of, just
- 7:09Speaker 1: because of the dynamic that I've had so long with
- 7:11Speaker 1: Jimmie Fox, Jonathan Kite and of course now with David
- 7:14Speaker 1: Allen Greer. Watching this family comedy is just gonna bring
- 7:17Speaker 1: such a warm, you know, feeling to you. And then
- 7:20Speaker 1: we need it right now during a pandemic. Who all
- 7:22Speaker 1: doesn't need a comedy to laugh at right? Absolutely? And
- 7:25Speaker 1: the reason I like it because Netflix is going into
- 7:27Speaker 1: that African American family comedy that's right, and they're going
- 7:32Speaker 1: that way. And I just knew when I started getting
- 7:33Speaker 1: a bunch of calls They're like, oh my god, I
- 7:35Speaker 1: watch you on The Parkers, and I'm like, okay, it
- 7:37Speaker 1: always is on TV. But Netflix got the Parkers, they
- 7:40Speaker 1: got Girlfriends, they got all these shows one on one
- 7:42Speaker 1: that we used to watch on up n that are
- 7:44Speaker 1: now on the streaming service, and it's just a beautiful
- 7:47Speaker 1: blessing to see how big these comedies they took off,
- 7:51Speaker 1: and Netflix was like, oh my gosh, black comedies are
- 7:53Speaker 1: exactly what people want to see, and we've already shot
- 7:55Speaker 1: our show and now follow along and and and follow
- 7:59Speaker 1: that pattern. They're they're really just truly they've been mindful
- 8:03Speaker 1: of just how much people want to see all types
- 8:05Speaker 1: of family because you you can watch Bollywood on there,
- 8:08Speaker 1: you can watch you know, Korean movies, you could watch
- 8:11Speaker 1: anything on there, and their platform is so diverse and
- 8:13Speaker 1: it's so inclusive, and that's why I love that we're there.
- 8:15Speaker 1: We're a black family, but anybody can watch this show
- 8:18Speaker 1: and relate to the homeboy that walks in trying to
- 8:20Speaker 1: go in your kitchen getting some of your stuff, but
- 8:22Speaker 1: the dad who lives in the backhouse, who who might
- 8:25Speaker 1: have been going through hard times, or the sister who's
- 8:27Speaker 1: just living with her brother trying to, you know, be
- 8:30Speaker 1: the best sister she could be while also being in
- 8:31Speaker 1: the corporate world. We're all relatable, just in different ways,
- 8:34Speaker 1: and anyone can watch it and feel a piece of
- 8:37Speaker 1: them or someone they know in this show. We know.
- 8:40Speaker 1: I'm just come in Netflix. I'm a fan of the network,
- 8:43Speaker 1: streaming network because one thing is airs in a hundred
- 8:46Speaker 1: and nanny countries. And the reason I say that, you know,
- 8:48Speaker 1: I've I've written down sister, sister, I've written on Jamie Fox,
- 8:51Speaker 1: I've written on the parents who would And we've always
- 8:54Speaker 1: been categorized as a black sitcom. And guess what we
- 8:56Speaker 1: were regulated either to low watted stations, a non major
- 9:01Speaker 1: network station and so now and even in black movies,
- 9:04Speaker 1: you know, we were premier. Will never go international on Netflix.
- 9:08Speaker 1: You you're growing up international fan base portion, Come on now,
- 9:12Speaker 1: just like but think about what we did the Parkers.
- 9:15Speaker 1: It was up n There was one network for all
- 9:17Speaker 1: of our shows, right one right, it was Girlfriends one
- 9:21Speaker 1: on one, the Parkers. You haven't just tune into that network.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Now you can watch you know, Shona Rhymes TV shows
- 9:28Speaker 1: and you see a Kerry Washington, you see a Viola Data.
- 9:32Speaker 1: You know it's it's just it's no longer one of us.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I said, I used to be me the token black
- 9:37Speaker 1: girl on on one show is the only one. I'm like,
- 9:39Speaker 1: Now you're not You're not the token black girl on
- 9:42Speaker 1: this or not? You know? Okay, now here's my history.
- 9:47Speaker 1: You know, I was a co executive producer to the
- 9:49Speaker 1: Jamie Foxx show that was on the w B busy
- 9:52Speaker 1: and was hired me. Okay and uh and that just
- 9:56Speaker 1: before I went over to The Parkers. That's where I
- 9:57Speaker 1: met you. So that's a blessing and that I have
- 10:00Speaker 1: have a twofold relationship with you. With Jamie so perfect.
- 10:03Speaker 1: With Keening winning Ham, I know him from working on
- 10:08Speaker 1: just various sitcomm when he was cutting his teeth as
- 10:10Speaker 1: a director. And so that's the beauty of it. I'm sure.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I'm sure so many names over there. Stacy Evans, I'm
- 10:17Speaker 1: sure she's over there as well. That's my girls that
- 10:21Speaker 1: so many people on The Parkers. I love Stave, Stacy Evans, Bentley,
- 10:25Speaker 1: ken Winningham. It was really a family dynamic because I've
- 10:28Speaker 1: worked with Bentley on other projects. Of course, Stacy, you
- 10:31Speaker 1: know with the Parkers, who is not a part of this,
- 10:33Speaker 1: but she's so supportive and so amazing. And David Allen
- 10:36Speaker 1: Greer works with Jamie Fox. I've known Jamie for ten years.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I've known Jonathan Kite for many years. It's all just
- 10:41Speaker 1: a circle, and when you watch us on camera, I
- 10:44Speaker 1: definitely feel like you you feel that because it's like,
- 10:46Speaker 1: who doesn't go to Jamie Fox's house and hang out
- 10:49Speaker 1: and go to party that he has. And I kind
- 10:52Speaker 1: of tell people his parties are iconic. So you haven't
- 10:55Speaker 1: seen each other in a while, you can always see
- 10:56Speaker 1: ech other. Jamie Fox do so many parties. He had
- 11:00Speaker 1: a swinging gate. It just fell off. That's that's how
- 11:02Speaker 1: many parties he through. He just lead the gate open.
- 11:05Speaker 1: They just they just fell on the ground and just
- 11:08Speaker 1: that's how many parties even throw it. But this this
- 11:10Speaker 1: is a big party on Netflix. It's called Dad stopping
- 11:13Speaker 1: bar embarrassing me. Yeah, I know Jamie. He goes off
- 11:16Speaker 1: scripts sometimes he wants to improv. I know him well.
- 11:20Speaker 1: So how do you react to this amazingly gifted young
- 11:23Speaker 1: man who goes off script but continues to move to
- 11:27Speaker 1: comedy forward? And you have to make a little small
- 11:29Speaker 1: adjustments to not bust out laughing, not bust out laughing
- 11:33Speaker 1: and holding the script content moving forward. Talk about the
- 11:36Speaker 1: experience of working with this brilliant young man. It is
- 11:39Speaker 1: truly the definition of a master at work. He's a genius.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I find him to be one of the most people,
- 11:46Speaker 1: the most successful people and talented people I've ever met.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I mean, he sings, he writes, he produces, he directs,
- 11:52Speaker 1: he plays music. He's a comedian, he's a dramatic actor.
- 11:56Speaker 1: There's nothing he can't do. So when you're on set
- 11:58Speaker 1: with him and he dd from the script, you gotta
- 12:01Speaker 1: roll with the punches because that might be a better
- 12:03Speaker 1: version of what was written there. And so many times
- 12:06Speaker 1: in the script and in the show that you're gonna see,
- 12:09Speaker 1: there's a lot of moments that they left in there
- 12:10Speaker 1: that were completely organic that Jamie did that, I did that,
- 12:13Speaker 1: David Allen Brier did that, Jonathan did that, Kylie Drew
- 12:16Speaker 1: did that got kept in because it was just organically
- 12:18Speaker 1: in the moment and someone's reaction was just perfect on
- 12:21Speaker 1: the spot for a new thing that they actually hit
- 12:23Speaker 1: you with because your reaction was different. Because you know,
- 12:25Speaker 1: in acting, where you do takes, you do take three, four,
- 12:28Speaker 1: sometimes five times on certain shows you might hit that
- 12:32Speaker 1: one line that's different than what you thought it was
- 12:34Speaker 1: gonna be in your whole reaction changes, and that's the money.
- 12:37Speaker 1: So dealing with Jamie is just dealing with the master.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Knowing how to you know, just be right next to
- 12:41Speaker 1: him and just go right into the to the mix
- 12:44Speaker 1: of it. And I find him just to be so
- 12:47Speaker 1: so incredible at that that how do you not get
- 12:49Speaker 1: lessons for someone who is so good at it? Like
- 12:51Speaker 1: I don't find anyone more funny than him, but also
- 12:54Speaker 1: more diverse than him in the world of winning a
- 12:56Speaker 1: Grammy or are winning you know, like an Oscar recording
- 13:00Speaker 1: amazing albums, but his voice is like to die for.
- 13:03Speaker 1: So being next to him as his sisters is unbelievable.
- 13:06Speaker 1: You know. Just listen to your enthusiasts. And first of all,
- 13:08Speaker 1: it shows on the screen, and it shows in It's
- 13:12Speaker 1: finally here the season of celebration. And no matter how
- 13:16Speaker 1: you celebrate with family and friends, whether you're preparing for
- 13:19Speaker 1: Reis Magos or Karamu lighting the Manura, are going to

- 13:34Speaker 1: blankets and throws. Support minority owned or founded brands by

- 13:42Speaker 1: them to everyone's favorite activewear from top brands like Nike, Adidas,
- 13:46Speaker 1: and under Armour. And in the spirit of giving, Coals
- 13:50Speaker 1: Cares is donating eight million dollars to local nonprofits nationwide

- 14:11Speaker 1: what else? Girls in the forest? Our imagination, our sense
- 14:15Speaker 1: of wonder, and our family bonds grow too. Because when
- 14:18Speaker 1: we disconnect from this and connect with this, we reconnect
- 14:25Speaker 1: with each other. The forest is closer than you think.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Find a forest near you and start exploring. I Discover
- 14:32Speaker 1: the Forest dot Org, brought to you by the United

- 14:39Speaker 1: from foster care is a topic not enough people know about,
- 14:42Speaker 1: and we're here to change that. I'm April Dinnuity, host
- 14:44Speaker 1: of the new podcast Navigating Adoption, presented by adopt Us Kids.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Each episode brings you compelling, real life adoption stories told

- 15:08Speaker 1: Now that the portrayal of the women in the show, uh,
- 15:11Speaker 1: just I love Heather's character. She plays Stacy. She runs
- 15:15Speaker 1: the company, and she's kind of like the if I'm
- 15:17Speaker 1: reading this right, she's divorce of reason within the show, Yes,
- 15:20Speaker 1: without question, Yes, talk about our care. Oh yeah, Stacy
- 15:27Speaker 1: is actually incredible because she is you know, she's at
- 15:31Speaker 1: this point, she's running the company. She's trying to let
- 15:33Speaker 1: Brian know certain things that he might have to do
- 15:36Speaker 1: to make sure this company become successful. It's already successful,
- 15:39Speaker 1: but if he wants to stay in that category of
- 15:42Speaker 1: success and in building and growing into a different dimension
- 15:46Speaker 1: as a company, listen to her and understand what I'm
- 15:49Speaker 1: telling you you need to do. But of course Brian
- 15:51Speaker 1: is hardheaded, so Brian doesn't feel like anything need adjustments
- 15:54Speaker 1: that he's already done well. And I come in because
- 15:57Speaker 1: I'm like, listen, I come from the corporate world. You
- 15:59Speaker 1: might want to listen to me here or there, and
- 16:01Speaker 1: we could both give you advice because you don't know
- 16:03Speaker 1: at all. And I like when he does actually ask
- 16:06Speaker 1: us for certain advice and when he listens to us sometimes,
- 16:11Speaker 1: and then when he doesn't listen to us, it's kind
- 16:13Speaker 1: of like, oh, well, we told you so, you know,
- 16:15Speaker 1: we can just say that she should have listened to
- 16:16Speaker 1: the woman. You know. It was really interesting about watching
- 16:19Speaker 1: his career and watching the original hit sitcom that he
- 16:22Speaker 1: had on called The Jamie Foxx Show. This seems like
- 16:24Speaker 1: a grown version of that show because he was a
- 16:27Speaker 1: single guy, you know, worked at the hotel, and now
- 16:31Speaker 1: he's business owner and he has parent responsibilities and so
- 16:36Speaker 1: he has a system who who's who helps keep him straight,
- 16:40Speaker 1: you know, And and the things I love about the
- 16:43Speaker 1: show this is it's a black show. And I say
- 16:45Speaker 1: that in a complimentary way because it talks about black
- 16:48Speaker 1: values and her important these black values resonate. And also
- 16:53Speaker 1: it's really cool something to storylize that. And I would
- 16:56Speaker 1: tell you this portion, you know, if I wasn't laughing,
- 16:58Speaker 1: I was smiling the old time I was watching this.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Nice you did you get that like feeling of like
- 17:05Speaker 1: watching a family and saying, wow, this makes me feel good.
- 17:07Speaker 1: And even the moments where you're like, no, he didn't know,
- 17:10Speaker 1: she didn't You're like, oh that was though. Like you
- 17:12Speaker 1: feel like every episode you might have learned something about
- 17:16Speaker 1: you know, one of the characters that you didn't know before,
- 17:18Speaker 1: but you also feel like you know someone that you
- 17:20Speaker 1: can relate to that exactly is a reflection of the
- 17:24Speaker 1: person that you're seeing on screen right absolutely, And that's
- 17:26Speaker 1: what I'm saying, is like, you know because you know
- 17:28Speaker 1: after the third because you know, I come in because
- 17:30Speaker 1: I know Jamie, and I came in with an open
- 17:33Speaker 1: mind because I don't read any of the information. I
- 17:36Speaker 1: know David Alagre as a fool. Okay, I know some
- 17:40Speaker 1: foolness and it's gonna come out. It's my but good
- 17:42Speaker 1: foolishness because it's gonna be funny. I know Jamie cars
- 17:45Speaker 1: She's gonna break the third, fourth fifth wall. And in
- 17:48Speaker 1: this show, he talks to you. That's a really cool thing.
- 17:51Speaker 1: He talks to you, so be prepared. I don't think
- 17:53Speaker 1: I'm giving away anything, but he talks to the audience,
- 17:56Speaker 1: which is a really cool thing. And even even even
- 18:00Speaker 1: David al group the buses. It's it's relatable. I like
- 18:04Speaker 1: to say that. It kind of reminds me of even
- 18:07Speaker 1: like the Bernie Max Show. Bernie Mack was his father
- 18:09Speaker 1: on the show, you know what I'm saying, and he
- 18:11Speaker 1: had those moments where he's engaging with the crowd because
- 18:14Speaker 1: it's like sometimes you gotta say, self, let me talk
- 18:17Speaker 1: to you for a second. So whether somebody else is
- 18:19Speaker 1: listening or on the other end of it, he's talking
- 18:21Speaker 1: to himself and talking and thinking out loud. You know,
- 18:25Speaker 1: even though the you know, the the audience is understanding
- 18:27Speaker 1: the reflection that they're seeing, it's still him talking through. Okay,
- 18:31Speaker 1: what scenario, this could go back, this could go right,
- 18:33Speaker 1: what do I do? And then just going with it.
- 18:35Speaker 1: And then of course we all have moments where we
- 18:37Speaker 1: make the wrong decisions, but we're all there to pick
- 18:39Speaker 1: each other up even in between those moments. Now, he's
- 18:42Speaker 1: an interesting thing about it, the dynamics of the characters.
- 18:44Speaker 1: You know, the daughter they're talking about the daughter. You know,
- 18:47Speaker 1: the daughter is not a real life version of his
- 18:50Speaker 1: real daughter, but it's Lucid Base. Yeah, listening to the Base,
- 18:53Speaker 1: there's a Lucid Base series. Because he was an actual
- 18:56Speaker 1: entertainer in real life. It wasn't a business on in
- 18:59Speaker 1: real life, So would you sit taking We all want
- 19:02Speaker 1: to work, you know, but we also wanted opportunity to shine,
- 19:05Speaker 1: the opportunity to show your singing in this series. Did
- 19:09Speaker 1: that Did they excite you? Oh my god, it excited
- 19:13Speaker 1: me because I felt like that was that was absolutely
- 19:16Speaker 1: Jamie's doing. And I was just telling someone the other
- 19:19Speaker 1: day and you can see this on Instagram and so
- 19:20Speaker 1: many people have videos of it, you know, a couple
- 19:22Speaker 1: of months ago, and actually not even a couple of
- 19:24Speaker 1: months ago. This point was like a year and a
- 19:25Speaker 1: half ago, even before we did the show, before I
- 19:27Speaker 1: even knew I was going to be a part of
- 19:28Speaker 1: the show. Jamie had one of those big house parties
- 19:30Speaker 1: at the band in the middle of his living room,
- 19:32Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, Jamie was like, you know,
- 19:35Speaker 1: play this song. So they started playing No Diggity the band.
- 19:37Speaker 1: It's like, don't, don't, don't, no no, they started playing
- 19:40Speaker 1: this song. So next thing, you know, all of his friends,
- 19:43Speaker 1: all his background singers and jamming this song. Jamie says,
- 19:46Speaker 1: I got a thousand dollars from whoever knows the rat.
- 19:48Speaker 1: First the Queen Penn's part or no Dignity, and I'm like,
- 19:52Speaker 1: wait a minute. I'm in my head like, yo, I
- 19:56Speaker 1: know I got this. So I tapped him. I'm like
- 19:59Speaker 1: I got it, and he's like Coors Jacoma, ladies and
- 20:01Speaker 1: gentlemen Shakoma and sends the Jamie I mean, she says
- 20:04Speaker 1: that she knows the Queen Penn verse. Next, you know,
- 20:07Speaker 1: the band kind of took it down a little, so
- 20:08Speaker 1: I started living. At first, I'm singing, so he's taking
- 20:11Speaker 1: my all. She's probably gonna start singing. I hit it
- 20:13Speaker 1: with a rat verse and I'm singing in between. The
- 20:16Speaker 1: whole party loses it and I'm like, oh my god,
- 20:20Speaker 1: I guess it's it. He's all out. Everybody said hey,
- 20:22Speaker 1: uh all this kind of stuff in the middle of
- 20:27Speaker 1: his house. Two months later, I get the call about
- 20:30Speaker 1: the show. Of course I auditioned, but it was just
- 20:33Speaker 1: one audition and then I end up getting the role.
- 20:34Speaker 1: And then I'm seeing in one of the episodes that
- 20:36Speaker 1: I'm singing. Jamie was like, oh no, we had to
- 20:38Speaker 1: let you say, like, oh no, no, we made sure
- 20:40Speaker 1: we had to do that because like, you're too talented.
- 20:42Speaker 1: We gotta put that in so a praying that of course,
- 20:45Speaker 1: you know, if all goes well and we do end
- 20:46Speaker 1: up getting blessed with more seasons, that we're going to
- 20:48Speaker 1: really tap into a lot more of that stuff. Because
- 20:51Speaker 1: who doesn't love Jamie Fox breaking into song. He's a
- 20:54Speaker 1: master vocalist. So just to know that your sibling does
- 20:57Speaker 1: the same thing, that's I mean, my own brother do
- 20:59Speaker 1: but go into all the time. And he's Damie's age
- 21:01Speaker 1: and he also sings and was a former athlete. So
- 21:04Speaker 1: I feel like I was perfect for this because of
- 21:06Speaker 1: similarities between them and him. Well, you know the beauty
- 21:08Speaker 1: of watching the talent the first First, all my compliments
- 21:12Speaker 1: are coming from a real source. Okay, yes, you know everybody,
- 21:15Speaker 1: so we know it's coming from a place of understanding
- 21:18Speaker 1: of who we are individually and then seeing it's appreciate
- 21:21Speaker 1: and it's just seeing when you're going through that you know,
- 21:23Speaker 1: on the boat, on that boat in that video, you know. Okay,
- 21:30Speaker 1: it was a funny point. I remember way back and
- 21:32Speaker 1: when I was when I was coll exectibus and Jamie,
- 21:33Speaker 1: if he hasn't changed, we should do it. Used to
- 21:36Speaker 1: host a amateur night or like a karaoke knight way
- 21:39Speaker 1: back in the day and when yeah, it was it
- 21:44Speaker 1: was on Sunset. I can't remember the name. It was
- 21:46Speaker 1: on sun and when you came in there and did
- 21:49Speaker 1: a carryoke so and brought it down. So he has
- 21:52Speaker 1: not changed, He's still brilliant. You'd been a part of this.
- 21:57Speaker 1: It wraps it all together, David nell, I gotta let
- 22:00Speaker 1: let you tell us about working with that. For David
- 22:02Speaker 1: Alan Grier, Oh my gosh. Well, to me automatically, when
- 22:06Speaker 1: I heard David Allen grew was a part of it,
- 22:07Speaker 1: I said, Jamie Foxx and David Allen Greer reuniting on camera,
- 22:11Speaker 1: Oh my god, is what I said. Because I'm like,
- 22:14Speaker 1: who didn't watch The Living Color and grow up watching
- 22:16Speaker 1: their characters, thinking these men are just incredibly talented. And
- 22:20Speaker 1: then when you were around Jamie the first day, like
- 22:22Speaker 1: on set, Jamie was like, you guys don't understand. I
- 22:24Speaker 1: wasn't the funniest person on the show. David Allen Greer
- 22:27Speaker 1: was the funniest person on the show, and I was
- 22:28Speaker 1: trying to be like him and David Alan Grison they're
- 22:31Speaker 1: talking and they're just really going back and forth about
- 22:33Speaker 1: their stories, and when the camera rolls, David Allen Greer
- 22:36Speaker 1: is a who like he We always talked about his wardrobe.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Every day he comes in his overalls to set. He's
- 22:43Speaker 1: like a farmer. He dresses like the farmer guy. Come
- 22:47Speaker 1: on set and when it's time to play David Alan
- 22:50Speaker 1: Grier turns it all the way on. And when you're
- 22:52Speaker 1: off camera, he's talking. I mean from he's just brilliant
- 22:55Speaker 1: as as an artist and an individual. I mean, he's
- 22:57Speaker 1: on Broadway, he's done movies, he's television. From the car
- 23:01Speaker 1: michaels like. He's brilliant when it comes to this art,
- 23:03Speaker 1: art form in general. But putting them together now is
- 23:06Speaker 1: father and son. It's something that is just mind going
- 23:09Speaker 1: for people to really watch them after all this time together.
- 23:12Speaker 1: And he's comedically just funny, just walking in somewhere. He
- 23:17Speaker 1: walks in the way his stature is in his beard
- 23:19Speaker 1: that he has. Absolutely it's amazing. It's it's amazing that
- 23:25Speaker 1: it's beautiful thing. That's right. We're talking about Netflix new
- 23:27Speaker 1: Jamie Fox series Dad Stopping season one. All I gotta
- 23:33Speaker 1: say is is I'm i'm amos, I'm hard critic, former
- 23:36Speaker 1: stand up so I look everything. I'm a writer, I
- 23:39Speaker 1: got friends on you. I got looking from the perspective,
- 23:41Speaker 1: they're not my friends. You guys, You guys are delivering it.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Make sure you have been watching time because on Netflix
- 23:49Speaker 1: you can sit there just like I did last night.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I went from episode to an episode, the episode, episode episode.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Did you watch? You watch the whole thing? Absolutely? Absolutely?
- 23:57Speaker 1: You know they tell you not this doing this father.
- 23:59Speaker 1: They all is to a vote. So I'm not even
- 24:01Speaker 1: mentioning anything episode Netflix ain't cut. You're not gonna give
- 24:05Speaker 1: away the spoilers that you watch the top to bottom journey, right,
- 24:09Speaker 1: But it's a journey, and that's why it's a real
- 24:11Speaker 1: black experience. It's a black experience because Bidley has the
- 24:14Speaker 1: ability to write real storylines in a comedic fashion and
- 24:19Speaker 1: because Jamie Fox doesn't run from that either. So it's
- 24:22Speaker 1: a Story's a lot of things that are in this
- 24:25Speaker 1: that are really uh that that plays out in our
- 24:28Speaker 1: media airways today. It is told and plays out on
- 24:32Speaker 1: this show. And you're fantastic if we have if we
- 24:37Speaker 1: go back to having a live audience, which of course
- 24:39Speaker 1: we couldn't go to COVID. You gotta come and hang
- 24:42Speaker 1: out and you know this rock with us, because i mean,
- 24:44Speaker 1: look at how crazy it is for all of us
- 24:46Speaker 1: to be on the show and you have every interaction
- 24:49Speaker 1: with all of us individually, that would be a blessing.
- 24:51Speaker 1: So praying that we get an audience season two, and
- 24:53Speaker 1: if we get a season two, I'm telling you your
- 24:57Speaker 1: boy was smiling, laughing some. I told my staff this morning.
- 25:01Speaker 1: I came in and said, you looked at yourself and
- 25:03Speaker 1: watching uh, you know the heck with marks Man looking
- 25:09Speaker 1: at the work. They asked me, why was this and
- 25:13Speaker 1: howard dad stop emparising me on Netflix? I said, well,
- 25:16Speaker 1: I smiled the whole time. I couldn't take a smile
- 25:19Speaker 1: off my laugh because that is really a testament to
- 25:22Speaker 1: me that that that you're just smiling and your face
- 25:25Speaker 1: is in a positive and that's what we need today.
- 25:27Speaker 1: And Netflix is delivering incredibly funny, serious starting Jamie Foxx,
- 25:31Speaker 1: starting Porscher Coleman, your brilliant, your your career is a
- 25:35Speaker 1: testament to your success. And the next take you get
- 25:37Speaker 1: a commercial of Rashan this, how I got that next commercial?
- 25:39Speaker 1: Maybe you could try with you. You know what I'm saying,
- 25:43Speaker 1: commercial commercial Momo, momojo, mojo that the mojo, I think
- 25:48Speaker 1: the porch. Thank you for fourteen. Everybody can see hund
- 25:52Speaker 1: Nay country shot, don't see you a hundred name the
- 25:55Speaker 1: pretty eyes all that they're gonna know who you are.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Come on, girl, Yeah yeah, thank you so much. I
- 26:05Speaker 1: appreciate it. Thankfully listening to Money Making Conversation. If you
