- 0:00Speaker 1: What's happened in DC since President Trump sent in the
- 0:03Speaker 1: National Guard. The murder rate has dropped fifty eight percent,
- 0:06Speaker 1: the robbery rate, the car jacking rate has plummeted.
- 0:09Speaker 2: And what's bizarre is Democrats are unhappy.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Now.
- 0:12Speaker 1: The Democrats get very upset when you put murderers in jail,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and I think that's a sign of how they're really
- 0:19Speaker 1: just captive to a radical ideologically stream.
- 0:23Speaker 4: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.

- 1:02Speaker 3: it is amazing and the upside well, it's real. I
- 1:05Speaker 3: actually have a one hundred ounce silver bar. It is
- 1:11Speaker 3: actually really cool. It's really heavy because it's one hundred ounces.
- 1:15Speaker 3: But I also know that I bought it at the
- 1:17Speaker 3: right price and I wasn't paying massive up charges on
- 1:21Speaker 3: quote rare are special coins, and then when you go
- 1:24Speaker 3: to sell them, you take away all of your earning potential.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Why do they do it this way at Kurt Elliott

- 3:03Speaker 3: for generations to come. KPM dot com slash Ben. It's
- 3:08Speaker 3: forty seven Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Story number one.
- 3:12Speaker 3: It is official. The United States government is shut down.
- 3:16Speaker 3: The Democrats they did it on purpose. Apparently it was
- 3:19Speaker 3: their plan. And the question is for how long have
- 3:22Speaker 3: they been planning on doing this? Centater, This is going
- 3:26Speaker 3: to be a very interesting show. This all revolves around
- 3:29Speaker 3: the Senate. That is something that maybe some people don't realize.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Everything's come out of the House. We're now to the
- 3:36Speaker 3: Senate side of things, and I want you to explain
- 3:39Speaker 3: what it was like in the hours leading up to
- 3:41Speaker 3: the shutdown. Was there ever a chance in hell that
- 3:44Speaker 3: the government wasn't going to shut down?
- 3:46Speaker 1: I think the government shutdown is going to last at
- 3:48Speaker 1: the minimum of days, it may be weeks, and it
- 3:52Speaker 1: may even be longer. Really, yes, this could extend for
- 3:57Speaker 1: a significant period of time and understated. And this is
- 4:02Speaker 1: the Democrats roar that they hate Donald Trump.
- 4:07Speaker 2: So I got to say.
- 4:08Speaker 1: We had the vote tonight. There was no surprise. Everyone
- 4:12Speaker 1: knew the outcome. Out of one hundred senators, all of
- 4:14Speaker 1: us knew the outcome.
- 4:16Speaker 2: The vote was fifty five to forty five.
- 4:19Speaker 1: So three Democrat senators voted to keep the government open.
- 4:25Speaker 3: You have it was a pretty big deal, right, I
- 4:27Speaker 3: mean did you think those three were going to go? Where?
- 4:29Speaker 3: Did you think it was going to be a unanimous vote?
- 4:31Speaker 3: I mean Fetterman and two others like that's that is significant.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Yeah, Look Fetterman, I was not surprised. So Fetterman voted
- 4:37Speaker 1: to keep the government open, Cortes Master voter to keep
- 4:40Speaker 1: the government open, and Angus King voted to keep the
- 4:43Speaker 1: government open. That's not shocking to me. It's fifty five
- 4:47Speaker 1: to forty five. Now, why did the government shut down? Look,
- 4:50Speaker 1: the basic operation of government is the federal government cannot
- 4:55Speaker 1: continue to operate unless Congress appropriates funds under the Constitution,
- 5:00Speaker 1: and Congress has the power of the purse, So Congress
- 5:03Speaker 1: appropriates the spending of money. A typical fiscal year is
- 5:10Speaker 1: October first to September thirtieth.
- 5:12Speaker 3: YEP.
- 5:14Speaker 1: This particular funding ended at midnight on September thirtieth. You
- 5:18Speaker 1: and I are recording this just after minutes after midnight
- 5:22Speaker 1: on September thirtieth. The appropriation, the authorization for Congress to
- 5:28Speaker 1: spend money expired minutes ago. Now, there are a couple
- 5:32Speaker 1: of ways you can extend the government funding. One is
- 5:34Speaker 1: an appropriation and so they're typically in a good year.
- 5:38Speaker 1: They are thirteen appropriation bills that fund each different kind
- 5:42Speaker 1: of major segment of government. For a number of years,
- 5:45Speaker 1: the appropriation bills have not passed. The other major way
- 5:49Speaker 1: that government authorization occurs is through what are called crs.
- 5:54Speaker 1: CR is short for continual resolution. A continued resolution is
- 5:58Speaker 1: essentially Congress saying what we are spending now, we can
- 6:03Speaker 1: continue continue the status quo identically for x period of time. Now,
- 6:08Speaker 1: the House of Representatives pasted a CR, a clean CR
- 6:12Speaker 1: to fund the federal government through the middle of November.
- 6:15Speaker 1: So if the Senate had passed it.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Oh, let's be clear. When you say a clean CR,
- 6:20Speaker 3: that means no political shenanigans in it. It's literally saying,
- 6:24Speaker 3: we're taking the twenty five budget year and we're going
- 6:28Speaker 3: to say the exact same amount we spent in August,
- 6:31Speaker 3: we're gonna spend September, October, November until we get the
- 6:34Speaker 3: new budget. There is no port barrel extras. There's no
- 6:37Speaker 3: political against from either side.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes, okay. A clean CR says what we
- 6:44Speaker 1: spent yesterday is what we'll spend tomorrow, that everything just
- 6:48Speaker 1: continues the same, and that's what the House has passed.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Now.
- 6:53Speaker 1: The challenge is for anything to pass the Senate that
- 6:56Speaker 1: is in the nature of an appropriations or a CR,
- 6:59Speaker 1: it take sixty votes because under the filibuster rule, you've
- 7:04Speaker 1: got to have sixty votes to move forward on legislation. So,
- 7:07Speaker 1: as I mentioned, we got fifty five, we got three Democrats,
- 7:10Speaker 1: but we need sixty, which means we need at least
- 7:15Speaker 1: seven Democrats. And actually here we need eight Democrats because
- 7:18Speaker 1: Ran Paul voted no, so we had fifty two Republicans
- 7:21Speaker 1: vote yes, and we needed eight Democrats to vote yes
- 7:25Speaker 1: to fund the government.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Well, we only got three.
- 7:30Speaker 3: And that was on purpose. And I want to pause
- 7:33Speaker 3: just for a second to go back to the cr historically.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Let's just go back to Biden's time in office when
- 7:39Speaker 3: you guys were in the minority. If I'm not mistaken,
- 7:44Speaker 3: you guys did this more than a dozen times where
- 7:46Speaker 3: you came to and say, hey, we maintained a thirteen time.
- 7:49Speaker 3: All right, So thirteen different times y'all came together and said,
- 7:53Speaker 3: we're gonna spend exactly what we spent yesterday to keep
- 7:56Speaker 3: the government open so we avoid a government shutdown. And
- 8:00Speaker 3: you put the American people ahead of politics, and that
- 8:04Speaker 3: is a bipartisan moment, right, They had to have some
- 8:07Speaker 3: of your votes.
- 8:08Speaker 1: So look, every time we came to the end of
- 8:10Speaker 1: government funding, you would have enough Republicans joined with Democrats
- 8:14Speaker 1: to keep the government funded. Now what has changed, Well,
- 8:18Speaker 1: several months ago we had another expiration of government funding.
- 8:22Speaker 1: And what happened is Chuck Schumer and the Democrats decided, Okay,
- 8:26Speaker 1: let's keep the government going, a very reasonable and very
- 8:29Speaker 1: common sense, a very normal decision. The Democratic left wing
- 8:33Speaker 1: base lost their mind and Chuck Schumer nearly lost his
- 8:39Speaker 1: job because Schumer allowed the government to be funded several
- 8:43Speaker 1: months ago, the left wing rose up against him. And
- 8:47Speaker 1: you want to understand why we have a shutdown. It's
- 8:50Speaker 1: one thing. Schumer is looking over his left shoulder and
- 8:54Speaker 1: he sees AOC running up behind him, and he is
- 8:58Speaker 1: terrified he's going to lose his job. So listen, Schumer
- 9:02Speaker 1: knows this is not going to work. He knows this
- 9:05Speaker 1: is failures.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Just pure cover your als politics one oh one by Schumer.
- 9:11Speaker 1: So the radical left wing, they hate Trump and they
- 9:15Speaker 1: want today to be a giant f you to Trump.
- 9:19Speaker 1: They want it to be we hate President Trump, and
- 9:23Speaker 1: we hate President Trump so much we're gonna shut the
- 9:26Speaker 1: entire government down because rar that's what we're watching now,
- 9:31Speaker 1: by the way, so.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Then hold on, when did this become the plan? Was
- 9:36Speaker 3: this weeks ago? Months ago? Was this when they had
- 9:38Speaker 3: the last year? As I got the next time it
- 9:40Speaker 3: comes up, I have no choice. I got to shut
- 9:41Speaker 3: down the government to flex my muscles. And also there
- 9:45Speaker 3: is a real concern by him that AOC is going
- 9:48Speaker 3: to run against him primary him in the Senate, by
- 9:51Speaker 3: the way, that is after the next president's election cycle.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Was that and that isn't he up two years after
- 9:55Speaker 3: if I'm not mistaken, So you got five plus years
- 9:58Speaker 3: from now.
- 9:59Speaker 1: So, and to be clear, I predicted on this podcast
- 10:02Speaker 1: the inaugural member the chairman of the AOC for President
- 10:06Speaker 1: campaign is Chuck Schumer because he is desperate for AOC
- 10:10Speaker 1: not to primary him. He's gonna say, Alexandra, you are
- 10:15Speaker 1: such a big deal, you were so important. Really, the
- 10:18Speaker 1: Senate's too small for you. Why do you want to
- 10:20Speaker 1: bother being in the Senate. You should be in the
- 10:23Speaker 1: White House. Schumer is going to be all in on that,
- 10:25Speaker 1: but he is living with absolute PTSD. He is traumatized.
- 10:32Speaker 1: He sees left wing antifa crazies coming around on every side,
- 10:38Speaker 1: and so from his end, this shutdown is necessary politically. Now,
- 10:44Speaker 1: what did the Democrats demand? They demanded a lot of things.
- 10:46Speaker 1: You know what the number one demand was, what's that?
- 10:50Speaker 1: Free healthcare for illegals all over the country.
- 10:54Speaker 3: By the way, I mean, when you think about that
- 10:56Speaker 3: and the polling data and what it says, I don't
- 11:00Speaker 3: understand why that would make your number one thing. Because
- 11:02Speaker 3: it's clear that the people are behind President Trump securing
- 11:05Speaker 3: our borders, stopping government waste for aunt of abuse dogs
- 11:08Speaker 3: was a big part of it, and also making sure
- 11:10Speaker 3: that we're not giving out benefits to illegal immigrants. So
- 11:13Speaker 3: like no, no, no, we want to spend one point five
- 11:15Speaker 3: trillion if you want our votes, and it has to
- 11:17Speaker 3: be for health care for illegal immigrants and food stamps
- 11:20Speaker 3: for people that are able bodied, for example, that refuse
- 11:23Speaker 3: to work. That's another thing, and they're like, no, no, no,
- 11:25Speaker 3: we buy gal. You better get mind to people that
- 11:28Speaker 3: are just straight up lazy, that aren't that that have
- 11:30Speaker 3: the ability to work, but you got to pay them
- 11:32Speaker 3: to stay home.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:34Speaker 1: A huge pump chunk of this is getting rid of
- 11:37Speaker 1: the work requirement for government benefits. Democrats don't want anyone
- 11:41Speaker 1: to have to work. They wanted them to be able
- 11:42Speaker 1: to sit at home and get government checks. But did
- 11:45Speaker 1: you see the AI video the White House put out?
- 11:48Speaker 3: Which one? They put out a couple different things. Which
- 11:51Speaker 3: one are you talking about?
- 11:52Speaker 1: I want you? I want I want to play this
- 11:54Speaker 1: for everyone. Okay, this is fake so so all the
- 11:59Speaker 1: nattering neighbors, this is fake news. But it is absolutely hysterical.
- 12:03Speaker 1: The White House put out. This is Chuck Schumer and
- 12:06Speaker 1: a Keem Jeffries explaining what this shutdown is all about.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Take a listen to this.
- 12:11Speaker 5: Look, guys, there's no way to sugarcoat it.
- 12:14Speaker 6: Nobody likes Democrats anymore. We have no voters left because
- 12:17Speaker 6: of all of our woke trans bullsh Not even black
- 12:20Speaker 6: people want to vote for us anymore. Even Latinos hate us.
- 12:23Speaker 3: So we need new voters.
- 12:25Speaker 6: And if we give all these illegal aliens free healthcare,
- 12:30Speaker 6: we might be able to get them on our side
- 12:32Speaker 6: so they can vote for us. They can't even speak English,
- 12:35Speaker 6: so they won't realize we're just a bunch of woke
- 12:38Speaker 6: pieces of shit, you know, at least for a while
- 12:41Speaker 6: until they learn English and they realize they hate us too.
- 12:45Speaker 3: See, this is when I love AI. This is when
- 12:47Speaker 3: I absolutely love the spear from the President. And if
- 12:51Speaker 3: you can't see this, you need to go look at it.
- 12:52Speaker 3: We put up on social media, the videos and Portephries
- 12:55Speaker 3: has got a really nice Hannibar mustache and a sombrero on.
- 12:59Speaker 1: So look, pause for a second and realize that was
- 13:04Speaker 1: released by the White House. That was released by the
- 13:08Speaker 1: President of the United States. I feel a little guilty
- 13:11Speaker 1: because we've got some cursewords in there. We try to
- 13:14Speaker 1: avoid cursewords on this podcast. But what do you do
- 13:18Speaker 1: when the president has put that out?
- 13:21Speaker 2: You pay it?
- 13:23Speaker 1: And I gotta say the video sits today at lunch.
- 13:26Speaker 1: So every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, all the Republican senators
- 13:30Speaker 1: have lunch together. Today at lunch, John Thune met with
- 13:34Speaker 1: the President, met with Schumer, met with the King Jeffries
- 13:37Speaker 1: at the White House. And so Thune was giving us
- 13:40Speaker 1: a download on that. And you know, Thune was talking about, Okay,
- 13:44Speaker 1: the Democrats they don't want to cut a deal. They're
- 13:46Speaker 1: not willing to give it on anything. And I will confess.
- 13:49Speaker 1: I raised my hand.
- 13:50Speaker 2: I question.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I said, John was a King Jeffries wearing the sombrero.
- 13:58Speaker 3: And what did he say?
- 13:59Speaker 2: He just laughed. But look and everyone cracked up. But
- 14:04Speaker 2: that image.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Listen, the Democrats have literally shut down the federal government
- 14:10Speaker 1: because they want free health care for.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Every illegal alien in America.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Yeah, you want to talk about, like on every issue
- 14:17Speaker 1: that's eighty twenty or even ninety ten, they're on the
- 14:21Speaker 1: twenty or the ten side. The American people do not support.
- 14:25Speaker 1: If you want to have a referendum in this country,
- 14:27Speaker 1: should we give illegals free health care?
- 14:30Speaker 2: Wow?
- 14:30Speaker 1: That will be overwhelming But here's the secret. This shutdown
- 14:36Speaker 1: is not actually about free health care for illegals. That's
- 14:39Speaker 1: what the Democrats have hung their hat on because they
- 14:42Speaker 1: got to say they want.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Some they gotta say something, Right.
- 14:45Speaker 1: This is all about just we hate Donald Trump, and
- 14:50Speaker 1: it is Chuck Schumer job preservation. And that also means
- 14:56Speaker 1: the end of this. Okay, there's no universe in which
- 14:59Speaker 1: Chuck Schumer will get President Trump to agree to let's
- 15:04Speaker 1: give free health care to illegals.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Yeah, not going to happen. They know that.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Yeah, they're entering.
- 15:08Speaker 1: There's no universe in which Republicans in Congress are going
- 15:11Speaker 1: to say, hey, that's a great idea, let's give free
- 15:13Speaker 1: health care to every illegal. Like that's you might as
- 15:17Speaker 1: well ask for Area fifty one, like to release the
- 15:20Speaker 1: Martians and let them take over the country. Yeah, that
- 15:23Speaker 1: is as likely to happen as free health care for
- 15:25Speaker 1: illegals from Republicans. The Democrats know that this is not
- 15:30Speaker 1: about getting what they're demanding. This is about how long
- 15:35Speaker 1: do they want to demonstrate Orange Man bad?
- 15:39Speaker 2: Yeah and so and.
- 15:41Speaker 3: The radical base is what has put them in this scenario. Right,
- 15:44Speaker 3: I guess do you actually believe? And let's go back
- 15:47Speaker 3: to the history of the Senate here. I don't believe
- 15:51Speaker 3: that Chuck Schumer actually wanted to shut down the government now, No,
- 15:55Speaker 3: I think he was forced to do it.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Yeah, he would lose his job.
- 15:59Speaker 1: He would lose his job if the government.
- 16:02Speaker 3: It was self preservation. Yes, he In other words, this
- 16:05Speaker 3: is weird. Chuck Schumer is being held hostage by the
- 16:08Speaker 3: Marxist communists and socialists in his party, which they did
- 16:11Speaker 3: not police and they allowed to take over their party.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Then he's now holding the American people hostage with a
- 16:18Speaker 3: government shutdown, which brings me the big question. Even when
- 16:22Speaker 3: we've had shutdowns in the past, there has been some
- 16:26Speaker 3: agreement center like, hey, certain people should deserve to get paid.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Those that are in the military, those badges, like the
- 16:32Speaker 3: list is is not that long. But the essential important
- 16:36Speaker 3: people that deserve to get a paycheck. We don't screw
- 16:39Speaker 3: with them when they're protecting to fing this country, can
- 16:41Speaker 3: you guys, at least was there an agreement to pay them? Really? Okay,
- 16:46Speaker 3: so walk us through that, because I'm assuming that came
- 16:48Speaker 3: up at lunch.
- 16:49Speaker 1: So one of the things I did today is I
- 16:52Speaker 1: sent a letter because under the Constitution, members of Congress.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Our pay cannot be stopped. It's actually unconstitutioned to reduce
- 17:01Speaker 1: the compensation for members of Congress during the term we're
- 17:04Speaker 1: elected to. So I sent a letter and I've done
- 17:07Speaker 1: this during every shutdown, saying while the government is shut down,
- 17:11Speaker 1: don't pay me. It's not fair. It's not right for
- 17:15Speaker 1: an elected member of Congress to receive a paycheck when
- 17:19Speaker 1: federal workers are not. Now, to be clear, I don't
- 17:22Speaker 1: lose my pay when the shutdown is over. I'll get it,
- 17:26Speaker 1: but it's deferred.
- 17:28Speaker 3: But a lot of people don't understand that. The long
- 17:31Speaker 3: which if I think just asinine and I have family
- 17:34Speaker 3: members work in the federal government, and they're like, the
- 17:37Speaker 3: dumb part about this that I think a lot of
- 17:39Speaker 3: Americans don't understand, yep, is that you don't miss a
- 17:43Speaker 3: paycheck in your calendar year. You just miss a month
- 17:48Speaker 3: and then you get it back data, you get it
- 17:50Speaker 3: back the next time whenever the government does open back up.
- 17:53Speaker 3: And so I know people that are in the FAA,
- 17:55Speaker 3: for example, they're like, dude, we just plan our vacations
- 17:58Speaker 3: like great trips around shutdowns because we know we're still
- 18:01Speaker 3: getting paid. We save not everybody can do that. But
- 18:04Speaker 3: like they've almost pre planned for this bonus vacation and
- 18:07Speaker 3: they're gonna get paid back.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Yeah, but let me make several points of clarification. Sure
- 18:12Speaker 1: number one, government shut down as a misnomer. More than
- 18:17Speaker 1: eighty percent of the government will continue to operate. So
- 18:20Speaker 1: the basic principle is everything that is essential keeps going.
- 18:25Speaker 1: So the military, our activity and military like defending the
- 18:30Speaker 1: nation against bad guys, that keeps going. The FBI catching criminals,
- 18:34Speaker 1: that keeps going. The border patrol and ice that keeps going.
- 18:39Speaker 1: The FAA air traffic controllers. Tomorrow, if you get it
- 18:42Speaker 1: on an airplane, the air traffic controllers.
- 18:45Speaker 2: All go to work. By the way, the.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Air traffic controllers are not getting a paycheck, so they're
- 18:50Speaker 1: going to work. But every two weeks federal government employees
- 18:55Speaker 1: get paid. Air traffic controllers, coast guardsmen, military, the the
- 19:00Speaker 1: federal government. Nobody gets a paycheck. And so what shuts down.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Every cabinet secretary was assigned designate among your employees who
- 19:10Speaker 1: is essential and who is not essential. I remember when
- 19:14Speaker 1: Bill Clinton was president, we had to shut down.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Then.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Remember Newt Gingrich and the Republican Congress were fighting with
- 19:19Speaker 1: Bill Clinton.
- 19:20Speaker 2: We had to shut down for a number of weeks.
- 19:22Speaker 1: And I remember there was a headline that said the
- 19:24Speaker 1: Department of Commerce designated thirty percent of their employees is
- 19:29Speaker 1: essential and seventy percent is not essential. I remember thinking,
- 19:33Speaker 1: that's great, we just set a new benchline. All those
- 19:36Speaker 1: non essential. That's seventy percent they ought to be done.
- 19:40Speaker 1: But what that means, so what will be shut down?
- 19:45Speaker 1: Starting October one? National parks will be shut down. So
- 19:49Speaker 1: I got to say, if you were planning to take
- 19:51Speaker 1: your family to Yosemite this weekend, I'm sorry to say
- 19:55Speaker 1: you're out of luck. Yosemite will be closed. If you
- 19:58Speaker 1: were coming to d C, to our nation's capital, you
- 20:01Speaker 1: wanted to go to the Smithsonian, go to the Air
- 20:03Speaker 1: and Space Museum, it's the Smithsonian will be shut down.
- 20:07Speaker 1: If you look at things like the National Institute of Health,
- 20:10Speaker 1: like research on cancer, much of that will be shut down.
- 20:15Speaker 3: All across that non essential. When people are gonna say
- 20:18Speaker 3: that seems insane, why wouldn't we fix that to make
- 20:20Speaker 3: sure when we have these shenanigans happen that that's not affected.
- 20:25Speaker 1: And I think this shutdown will extend. I think it'll
- 20:30Speaker 1: be weeks. I think it will be. Schumer is trying
- 20:34Speaker 1: to protect his own rear end and everything else is
- 20:38Speaker 1: secondary to protecting his own political life. So I think
- 20:40Speaker 1: we will see an extended shutdown.
- 20:42Speaker 3: So is this polling then? I mean, how do you
- 20:45Speaker 3: decide when you won or you lost if you're Schumer?
- 20:48Speaker 3: Because this is not about the country hating Schumer. This
- 20:52Speaker 3: is only about New York. I'm protecting a seat from
- 20:55Speaker 3: AOC So in essence, you don't care how many people
- 20:58Speaker 3: hate you in the country. It's only a New York thing,
- 21:01Speaker 3: is that? I mean, will they do polling? I mean
- 21:03Speaker 3: this is weird.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Look, so this is being called the Schumer shutdown. Yeah,
- 21:09Speaker 1: and I gotta say the Democrats are losing the messaging battle.
- 21:14Speaker 1: It is clear this is a Democrat shutdown. There was
- 21:17Speaker 1: actually exchange right before we had the vote on the
- 21:19Speaker 1: CR to keep the government open, and this is a
- 21:21Speaker 1: clean CR. No, rioters know nothing. This is just keep
- 21:25Speaker 1: the lights.
- 21:25Speaker 3: On status quo.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Schumer stood up and was speaking, and all the Senators
- 21:31Speaker 1: or most of us were standing on the Senate floor,
- 21:33Speaker 1: and Schumer said, look, there's been reference to polling, but
- 21:37Speaker 1: the polling has been biased. It's been right wing polling,
- 21:42Speaker 1: for example, the New York Times. And I got to
- 21:46Speaker 1: tell you, I and every other Republican we just started
- 21:49Speaker 1: cracking up, laughing, and you could see Schumer he actually
- 21:53Speaker 1: turned red, he looked sheepish because he just said on
- 21:56Speaker 1: the Senate floor that the New York Times was a
- 22:00Speaker 1: biased right wing poll.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Yeah, seriously.
- 22:05Speaker 1: And it was a moment where where like Schumer, you
- 22:07Speaker 1: saw Democrats looking at him going.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Dude, you look like that's weak.
- 22:13Speaker 1: And that's because the New York Times did a poll.
- 22:16Speaker 1: If the Democrats don't get everything they want, should they
- 22:19Speaker 1: shut the government down? And sixty five percent of Americans
- 22:22Speaker 1: said no, don't shut the government down. It was a
- 22:25Speaker 1: small percentage. It was just over twenty percent of Americans
- 22:28Speaker 1: that said yes, shut the government down. So that's who
- 22:31Speaker 1: the Democrats are responding to. But they've got Schumer's message
- 22:35Speaker 1: is the New York Times is a right wing mouthpiece,
- 22:39Speaker 1: and how dare you tell the American people that we
- 22:43Speaker 1: the Democrats, are shutting the government down. This is headed
- 22:46Speaker 1: to failure. Everyone knows that. Every Republican knows that every
- 22:50Speaker 1: Democrat knows that. Is there an outcome where Republicans say, Okay, great,
- 22:55Speaker 1: let's fund healthcare free illegals. No, the Democrats will give in.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Three Democrats voted to fund the government. What will happen
- 23:04Speaker 1: is the government is shut down. People are gonna get
- 23:06Speaker 1: ticked off, people are gonna want to like use by
- 23:10Speaker 1: the way, things like passport services will be greatly reduced.
- 23:14Speaker 1: All sorts of government now listen. The military keeps going,
- 23:17Speaker 1: law enforcement keep going, Social Security keeps going, Medicare keeps going,
- 23:21Speaker 1: Medicaid keeps going, an awful lot of government keeps going.
- 23:25Speaker 1: But the lack of government being open will be a
- 23:28Speaker 1: serious function. And at some point we will see seven
- 23:33Speaker 1: or eight Democrats say enough is enough, reopen the government.
- 23:36Speaker 1: That will happen. But let me tell you a huge
- 23:39Speaker 1: piece that is an X factor in this, which is
- 23:43Speaker 1: Russ Vote, who is the head of OMB, the Office
- 23:46Speaker 1: of Management and Budget works for the White House. He
- 23:49Speaker 1: put out a memo a week ago that said, if
- 23:53Speaker 1: there is a government shutdown, we are going to lay
- 23:57Speaker 1: off federal workers. We're not going to give them a.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Furlough on This is the brilliant game of chess that
- 24:05Speaker 3: was early on preemptive Ye warning you do this, and
- 24:10Speaker 3: here's what we were going to do. And this might
- 24:13Speaker 3: be one of the best moves I've seen politically in
- 24:15Speaker 3: a long time in DC, which is, go ahead, do
- 24:18Speaker 3: it and watch what happens, because a lot of people
- 24:20Speaker 3: are going to get loser jobs. And that's going to
- 24:23Speaker 3: be on you guys for allowing it to happen. Right,
- 24:25Speaker 3: So explain all that.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Yes, So Russ is a good friend, he's a strong conservative,
- 24:30Speaker 1: he's a strong fiscal conservative. And what he said is, listen,
- 24:33Speaker 1: if Congress decides not to fund the federal government.
- 24:37Speaker 2: We're going to react to that. By the White House.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Is instructed every cabinet agency to prepare a plan for
- 24:45Speaker 1: a riff a reduction in force to give permanent layoffs
- 24:49Speaker 1: pink slips to government bureaucrats who are left wing bureaucrats
- 24:54Speaker 1: who are advancing the priorities of the Democrat Party. So
- 24:58Speaker 1: what you are going to see in the next few days,
- 25:02Speaker 1: You're going to see bureaucrats at the EPA fired. You're
- 25:06Speaker 1: gonna see bureaucrats at the Department of Labor fired. You're
- 25:11Speaker 1: gonna see bureaucrats at the RS fired. And within a
- 25:16Speaker 1: couple of days we're gonna see Democrat senators. They're going
- 25:19Speaker 1: to be in their lunches screaming at each other because
- 25:23Speaker 1: this is frankly an excuse for the Trump administration to
- 25:27Speaker 1: do what they wanted to do anyway, which is get
- 25:29Speaker 1: rid of left wing bureaucrats. But they now have an
- 25:32Speaker 1: incredible justification, which is, hey, Congress chose not to fund them,
- 25:38Speaker 1: so instead of giving them a paid vacation, stay home
- 25:42Speaker 1: several weeks and then we'll pay you back pay and
- 25:44Speaker 1: come back to your job. They're gonna even pick slip
- 25:47Speaker 1: and say you're done. You no longer have a job.
- 25:50Speaker 1: And I think that is going to ratchet up the
- 25:52Speaker 1: pressure on Democrats massively.
- 25:55Speaker 3: So how quickly can these firings take place? How massive
- 25:59Speaker 3: could they be? And how much research has been done
- 26:03Speaker 3: behind the scenes to get rid of a lot of
- 26:05Speaker 3: these woke bureaucrats that that we've been wanting to get
- 26:09Speaker 3: rid of, that the presidents wanted to get rid of,
- 26:11Speaker 3: the cabinet secretaries of wanting to get rid of like
- 26:14Speaker 3: I mean, I'm assuming they're burning the midnight oil kind
- 26:16Speaker 3: of like goaj did. Let's find the people we want
- 26:19Speaker 3: to get rid of, and this is our chance to
- 26:20Speaker 3: do it. And and by the way, once it's done,
- 26:23Speaker 3: like it's not like he got from their jobs back
- 26:25Speaker 3: like it's done.
- 26:26Speaker 1: So I think that starts happening today. I think October one,
- 26:31Speaker 1: you start seeing pink slips. I think we will see
- 26:35Speaker 1: left wing bureaucrats fired today. I think we'll see them
- 26:39Speaker 1: fired tomorrow.
- 26:41Speaker 2: You know.
- 26:41Speaker 1: This evening, I had dinner with the Deputy Secretary of
- 26:44Speaker 1: HHS who's a longtime friend of mine. He was actually
- 26:47Speaker 1: a grooms in my wedding. Great guy, I asked him.
- 26:50Speaker 1: I said, Okay, the White House asked every cabinet agency
- 26:54Speaker 1: preparing list of people for the riff, and he said, yeah,
- 26:58Speaker 1: we're doing that, he said, every age. And see when
- 27:00Speaker 1: the White House directs us to do that, we do that.
- 27:03Speaker 1: We're going to see I think hundreds, if not thousands,
- 27:06Speaker 1: of left wing bureaucrats fired in the next several days.
- 27:10Speaker 1: I think that's going to put the Democrat Party in crisis.
- 27:13Speaker 1: And by the way, we're not going to fire people
- 27:16Speaker 1: that are critical for the priorities you care you and
- 27:19Speaker 1: I care about. So we're not going to see Border
- 27:22Speaker 1: patrol agents who are securing the border fired. We're not
- 27:24Speaker 1: going to see ice agents who are deporting gang bangers fired.
- 27:28Speaker 1: We're not going to see FBI agents who are catching pedophiles,
- 27:32Speaker 1: We're not going to see them fired. We're not going
- 27:34Speaker 1: to see soldiers and sailors and airmen and marines who
- 27:38Speaker 1: are keeping this nation safe. We're not going to see
- 27:40Speaker 1: them fired. We're going to see bureaucrats who are shutting
- 27:44Speaker 1: down factories, who are destroying jobs, who are pursuing radical
- 27:50Speaker 1: left wing agendas. They're going to be the ones fired,
- 27:54Speaker 1: and ultimately the Democrats are going to cave. The only
- 27:57Speaker 1: question is how long Schumer won wants to go through
- 28:02Speaker 1: this charade before he gives.
- 28:03Speaker 3: In, which brings me my final question, that is the
- 28:06Speaker 3: media does seem to be covering this a little bit
- 28:09Speaker 3: more with honesty than I've ever seen them before. Today
- 28:13Speaker 3: there was a viral clip that is, the tables have
- 28:16Speaker 3: been turned. Democrats are now literally under fire, uh for
- 28:19Speaker 3: a clip that shows them slamming government shut down tactics,
- 28:23Speaker 3: the same ones they're accused of using right now. And
- 28:26Speaker 3: here's what it sounded like back in twenty eighteen. In
- 28:28Speaker 3: December of twenty eighteen, Donald Trump was President Chuck schimern
- 28:31Speaker 3: An's posy in the Oval Office.
- 28:33Speaker 5: Listen, we do not want to shut down the government
- 28:35Speaker 5: because you can you shut it down. Can me say something,
- 28:39Speaker 5: mister President North Dakota.
- 28:41Speaker 7: And the most unfortunate, and we came in here in
- 28:43Speaker 7: good faith and we're entering into this kind of a
- 28:48Speaker 7: discussion in the public.
- 28:52Speaker 3: Transparency.
- 28:53Speaker 7: I know, it's high transparency when we're not stipulating to
- 28:56Speaker 7: a set of facts.
- 28:58Speaker 3: I mean, you listen to that one there, we're not
- 29:00Speaker 3: in favor of it. And then the speaker also put
- 29:03Speaker 3: out a very interesting video montage reminding people the same thing, like, Hey,
- 29:11Speaker 3: you guys think that it's the Democrats. Mike Johnson putting
- 29:14Speaker 3: this out and here he is and what he said
- 29:16Speaker 3: to remind the people about Democrats in their own words,
- 29:22Speaker 3: it is not.
- 29:23Speaker 8: Normal to shut down the government when we don't get
- 29:25Speaker 8: what we want.
- 29:26Speaker 5: If the government shuts down, it will be average Americans
- 29:29Speaker 5: who suffer most. A government shutdown means seniors who rely
- 29:33Speaker 5: on Social Security could be thrown into chaos.
- 29:36Speaker 6: Families will be hurt, Farmers will be hurt.
- 29:40Speaker 1: It's the service members who will work without a paycheck.
- 29:43Speaker 2: It's the firefighters who will be furlough.
- 29:47Speaker 8: The shut down.
- 29:48Speaker 4: You know who's going to feel the pain.
- 29:49Speaker 3: You know who it hurts you everyday.
- 29:52Speaker 4: People and the most vulnerable seniors, veterans, working families, hungary
- 29:57Speaker 4: kids at.
- 29:57Speaker 8: All, Democrats are signal that they're ready for fight this time.
- 30:05Speaker 8: Schuma tells the Associated Press quo. Things have changed.
- 30:09Speaker 2: It is not normal to shut down the government when
- 30:11Speaker 2: we don't get what we want.
- 30:14Speaker 3: I mean, I love them using AOC's words. I feel
- 30:17Speaker 3: like the media has changed a little bit. Here your
- 30:20Speaker 3: thoughts on.
- 30:20Speaker 1: That, well, I'm impressed that you recognize AOC's voice.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I didn't know.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I knew that was a shrill Democrat. I didn't know
- 30:27Speaker 1: who that was, So I appreciate that clarity. Listen, every
- 30:33Speaker 1: single Democrat, I think, without exception, has gone on record
- 30:37Speaker 1: being against shutdowns. The fact that they shut it all
- 30:40Speaker 1: down today demonstrates what utter hypocrites they are.
- 30:43Speaker 2: And I got to say as I was.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Walking off the Senate floor, so I voted to fund
- 30:47Speaker 1: the government this afternoon. The Democrats voted against it and
- 30:52Speaker 1: caused a shut down.
- 30:54Speaker 2: All the reporters were.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Circling and they're talking. Point that they really wanted to
- 30:58Speaker 1: press is they say, had Okay Cruz in twenty thirteen,
- 31:04Speaker 1: in the fight over Obamacare, you ted Cruz forced to
- 31:08Speaker 1: shut down. Isn't that what the Democrats are doing now?
- 31:11Speaker 1: And I just started laughing at them, and I said, look,
- 31:14Speaker 1: number one, in twenty thirteen, when I did a twenty
- 31:18Speaker 1: one hour filibuster on the floor, I was fighting for Americans.
- 31:23Speaker 1: I was fighting for American citizens whose healthcare premiums had skyrocketed.
- 31:27Speaker 1: And they had skyrocketed because Obamacare was a train wreck.
- 31:31Speaker 1: It was a disaster. It caused a massive increase in
- 31:34Speaker 1: health insurance premiums. It made the health insurance companies rich,
- 31:39Speaker 1: and it made millions of ordinary Americans unable to afford
- 31:43Speaker 1: health insurance. And by the way, I was also fighting
- 31:46Speaker 1: for it at a time when the House of Representatives
- 31:49Speaker 1: that was Republican had voted to fund the federal government,
- 31:54Speaker 1: fund the entirety of the federal government, but not fund Obamacare,
- 31:58Speaker 1: so not fund the law that was causing damage to
- 32:02Speaker 1: American citizens. And I said, here, what's happening is Chuck
- 32:05Speaker 1: Schumer is shutting down the federal government not to help
- 32:08Speaker 1: American citizens who are getting hurt. But he's shutting down
- 32:12Speaker 1: the federal government in order to help millions of illegal
- 32:15Speaker 1: aliens and give them free healthcare. And he's willing to
- 32:19Speaker 1: shut down your federal government to give free health care
- 32:23Speaker 1: to illegals, and that fundamentally there's a hypocrisy to it.
- 32:28Speaker 1: And I also said, you know, the reporters were like,
- 32:31Speaker 1: isn't it the same, And I said, listen, let me
- 32:33Speaker 1: be clear. In twenty thirteen, it was Chuck Schumer who
- 32:38Speaker 1: shut the government down. Then I was trying to fund
- 32:41Speaker 1: the entirety of the federal government except for Obamacare, and
- 32:44Speaker 1: Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid decided, no, we'll shut it
- 32:48Speaker 1: all down because we care so much about socialized medicine.
- 32:51Speaker 1: And I told the reporters we had like fifty reporters
- 32:53Speaker 1: standing outside the Senate Florida. I said, look, none of
- 32:56Speaker 1: you guys reported that. You all blamed the shutdown on
- 32:59Speaker 1: me because you're all left wing hacks. Yeah, today, all
- 33:05Speaker 1: of you are still left wing hacks. You agree with
- 33:07Speaker 1: the Democrats, But the facts are so overwhelming. It is
- 33:11Speaker 1: Chuck Schumer and the Democrats who are shutting the government
- 33:14Speaker 1: down that even you dishonest liars are reporting. This is
- 33:18Speaker 1: the Schumer shutdown. Because the House has funded the government
- 33:24Speaker 1: exactly the status quo. The funding yesterday has continued to tomorrow.
- 33:29Speaker 1: It is the Democrats who said let's shut it down,
- 33:33Speaker 1: and I think at the end of the day they're
- 33:34Speaker 1: going to lose that battle. But this is what you
- 33:38Speaker 1: got to ask yourself is how long do the Democrats
- 33:41Speaker 1: have to perform for their crazy left wing activists before
- 33:46Speaker 1: they allow the government to reopen.
