- 0:14Speaker 1: reading other people's success stories and start writing your own.
- 0:17Speaker 1: You can only exceed the expectations by believing in yourself.
- 0:20Speaker 1: People always talk about their purpose or gifts. If you
- 0:23Speaker 1: have a gift, lead with your gifts and don't let
- 0:25Speaker 1: your friends, family, or co workers stop you from planning
- 0:28Speaker 1: or living your dreams. My guests is KeAndre Lockett. Returning
- 0:32Speaker 1: from the success of one single Made a Way Remixed.
- 0:35Speaker 1: The b m I Award winning songwriter released the upcoming
- 0:38Speaker 1: new album Cornerstone, on September two, twenty twenty two, right
- 0:43Speaker 1: before David Day. Corner Stone refers to understanding that everything
- 0:46Speaker 1: needs a strong foundation to stand upon. The album was
- 0:50Speaker 1: now number two and climbing on the iTunes, Christians and
- 0:53Speaker 1: Gospel album charts, performing with some of the most prominent
- 0:56Speaker 1: voices in gospel suss my man Ti tribute You're Shared, Mary, Mary,
- 1:02Speaker 1: the Clark's Sisters, and the one only straight out of Houston, Texas.
- 1:05Speaker 1: You're Londa Adams. Lock It has proved herself to be
- 1:08Speaker 1: a master sontress. She's a Billboard chart topping at artists
- 1:13Speaker 1: and b and my walk winning songwriter and fashion these stuff.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Please work with the money Making Conversation master Class, the
- 1:19Speaker 1: one and only Chandra Locket. How you doing? Hey, Hey,
- 1:24Speaker 1: I'm good. What is my things? Well? First of all,
- 1:28Speaker 1: you know, if you just plays back on video and
- 1:30Speaker 1: it plays back on audio, if you're an audio she
- 1:33Speaker 1: looks amazing, she looks amazing. Let's get that out there video.
- 1:37Speaker 1: You know what I'm talking about? You know what I'm
- 1:39Speaker 1: talking about. Well yet, right now, misslock It, I am
- 1:42Speaker 1: at home in Atlanta, Georgia. Uh yeah, look excited, happy, Yeah,
- 1:49Speaker 1: you know you know it's you know I've interviewed before.
- 1:52Speaker 1: You have a great personality. And I say this in
- 1:55Speaker 1: a in a complimentary way. You you you you you
- 1:59Speaker 1: seem like a bookworm type person. Uh, A person who
- 2:03Speaker 1: really can like get in the room and just stay
- 2:06Speaker 1: focused on something for a long period of time. Is
- 2:08Speaker 1: that where the songwriting style comes from. I'll talk about
- 2:12Speaker 1: a little bit of your personality. Okay, Well, um, if anything. Honestly,
- 2:17Speaker 1: I am probably more introverted, if you will, and um,
- 2:23Speaker 1: I U. While I love reading, you know, of course
- 2:25Speaker 1: obviously I love writing UM. At the same time, it's
- 2:29Speaker 1: just a personality, if you will that many people probably, um,
- 2:36Speaker 1: probably we can't really get with because you know, I'm
- 2:39Speaker 1: not as open. But I think that, um, only people
- 2:42Speaker 1: who are in my friend circle, only people who are
- 2:44Speaker 1: in my family are privileged to the other parts of
- 2:49Speaker 1: Keandrew Lock. You know the thing about nothing wrong with
- 2:52Speaker 1: that Condrew, you know, like I said, the beauty of
- 2:55Speaker 1: it is that. Let you know, I noticed that. But
- 2:57Speaker 1: it also is a strength for you because you can
- 3:00Speaker 1: be focused. And I think that a lot of people
- 3:02Speaker 1: see things and they try to read something else into it.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I just read a person who you know, giving an assignment,
- 3:08Speaker 1: You're gonna make a straight eight given an assignment. You're
- 3:11Speaker 1: gonna you're gonna give a given an assignment because you
- 3:14Speaker 1: don't work with many as many different artists as you
- 3:17Speaker 1: work with, you don't like what can I say? This
- 3:20Speaker 1: is my style? Do my style? You do their style?
- 3:24Speaker 1: How do you accomplish that task? How do I accomplish
- 3:28Speaker 1: the style of doing doing my own style? Yeah? Well,
- 3:33Speaker 1: I mean, you know, it's it's one thing to um
- 3:38Speaker 1: to patternize yourself after somebody or you know, like what
- 3:41Speaker 1: it is that they do. Because I do have some
- 3:44Speaker 1: to want to some elements to me that you know,
- 3:46Speaker 1: I changed from other people. I love Kimbero's vocals. You know,
- 3:49Speaker 1: my voice is vast raspy, so you know, I have
- 3:52Speaker 1: found a liking to her because we share the same
- 3:54Speaker 1: commonalities as it relates to both right in no way
- 3:58Speaker 1: do I want to take her full persona, you know,
- 4:01Speaker 1: as it relates to being a singer, and that's in
- 4:03Speaker 1: anything else. That or anywhere else are the places that
- 4:06Speaker 1: I'm inspired by, the people I'm inspired by. I want
- 4:08Speaker 1: to be myself. I want to be coming and that
- 4:11Speaker 1: I love when people say, oh my gosh, I knew
- 4:14Speaker 1: that was you on the radio. That was and it's
- 4:18Speaker 1: like you don't sound like nobody else, thank you. That's
- 4:21Speaker 1: the goal, being myself and to sound like myself, you know.
- 4:25Speaker 1: So well, see see right there, did y'all see how
- 4:27Speaker 1: she picked up a little bit coundrew. See See that's
- 4:30Speaker 1: I love. By the time that interview gonna be over
- 4:32Speaker 1: me and her, she's gonna be laughing. She started that
- 4:34Speaker 1: introvert at the top. But man, she don't get started
- 4:38Speaker 1: to get out there because she's she's a big personality.
- 4:42Speaker 1: And like I said, and because as we go through
- 4:45Speaker 1: her life, you know, just the music it's the base.
- 4:48Speaker 1: You know. The music is the base that we have
- 4:50Speaker 1: so many lanes of music, Kendre. You know, you have
- 4:53Speaker 1: the hip hop, you have the R and B, and
- 4:55Speaker 1: then you have the gospel. You have to pop. Why
- 4:58Speaker 1: are you in gospel? Well, I mean it's it's so
- 5:02Speaker 1: simple for me. Um. I know that there are other
- 5:05Speaker 1: Christians out there who are doing secular music. I feel
- 5:08Speaker 1: like that's their assignment. You know, they're out there spreading
- 5:11Speaker 1: the message of God. They're out there encouraging people. Um
- 5:14Speaker 1: still doing the type of music and shows that they do,
- 5:17Speaker 1: you know, but um, I felt like, uh, well, and
- 5:20Speaker 1: then let me say this. I used to sing in
- 5:22Speaker 1: a group called Zail. So our first thing was you know,
- 5:26Speaker 1: going to our parents letting them know that we wanted
- 5:29Speaker 1: to do this. They said, y'all ain't doing nothing but gospel.
- 5:32Speaker 1: So we were like, okay, that's that's that on that
- 5:35Speaker 1: But as I grew and uh, you know, continue to
- 5:39Speaker 1: um to grow in you know music and uh do
- 5:43Speaker 1: tours and go on you know, stages with other gospel artists.
- 5:46Speaker 1: It was like that doing gospel music is so liberating
- 5:50Speaker 1: and so therapeuty. I mean, I just wouldn't have it
- 5:53Speaker 1: any other way. You know. This is this is music
- 5:56Speaker 1: that truly, at the end of the day, people run
- 5:59Speaker 1: to gospel music because it points them to a source
- 6:02Speaker 1: that can truly help them. You know, even though you
- 6:05Speaker 1: have a song that is about love by the secular artist, Um,
- 6:09Speaker 1: if I'm going through a battle or a crazy situation
- 6:12Speaker 1: with my boyfriend or a relationship whatever, I ain't gonna
- 6:15Speaker 1: really be able to you know, to get with love.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Songs like talking about if like we didn't had it out,
- 6:21Speaker 1: you know, like that that arguments that I need the
- 6:24Speaker 1: Lord God, I need you to help me. You know.
- 6:26Speaker 1: So it's gospel music and I'm just you know, putting
- 6:29Speaker 1: it in those terms if you will, relating it to me.
- 6:32Speaker 1: But you know, it's gospel music that helps me too,
- 6:36Speaker 1: you know, to to do better, live better, and um
- 6:39Speaker 1: deal with crazy, hard situations, even in relationships better. We'll
- 6:43Speaker 1: be right back with more money Making Conversations Masterclass with
- 6:47Speaker 1: Rushan McDonald. Now let's return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass
- 6:54Speaker 1: with Rashan McDonald. Well, you know, let me tell you
- 6:57Speaker 1: some you know, melodies from heaven her Franklin, you know, man,
- 7:01Speaker 1: little thieves from heaven. You know. Uh, you know, I'll
- 7:05Speaker 1: tell you something about the name of Jesus. Do you
- 7:08Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about? Come on, come on, come on,
- 7:11Speaker 1: ow they they give me right, girl, they give me right,
- 7:14Speaker 1: you know. Uh. And so so I understand what you're
- 7:17Speaker 1: saying because of the fact that because I you know,
- 7:20Speaker 1: I listened to all music but born sometimes I'm just
- 7:24Speaker 1: driving that I just I got a little I got
- 7:25Speaker 1: a little gospel role. I got a little gospel role there,
- 7:28Speaker 1: you know, on my on my on my playlist, because
- 7:31Speaker 1: I got about two d songs. I ain't that gospel role.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Just just let it ride, let it ride. And and
- 7:37Speaker 1: because of the fact that about in the matter of
- 7:40Speaker 1: we were talking about music, we're talking about emotion. We're
- 7:44Speaker 1: talking about a feeling of inspiration. And so so when
- 7:47Speaker 1: I look at your personality all that's bottled up in you,
- 7:51Speaker 1: how do you let it out? Because you know, you
- 7:53Speaker 1: threw out that word introverted, like you know, you know,
- 7:55Speaker 1: I mean, my girl, you just you just all that passion,
- 7:59Speaker 1: all that great emotion, all that joy inside of you.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Talk about that. Okay, Well, I mean honestly, and I look,
- 8:08Speaker 1: I don't want to sound so preachy, but this is
- 8:10Speaker 1: what it is. The joy of the Lord is my strength.
- 8:12Speaker 1: You know. So people think that being an introvert. A
- 8:16Speaker 1: lot of times we think that that's you know, somebody
- 8:18Speaker 1: who like tucked off in a corner and they're just scared. Well,
- 8:21Speaker 1: it's not really that I'm an introverted person. And the
- 8:24Speaker 1: fact that you know, I'm sitting here chilling with people,
- 8:27Speaker 1: you know, if I'm at a party or something like that,
- 8:29Speaker 1: and I need I need a release. I need, you know,
- 8:32Speaker 1: some time off from from these people. I need some
- 8:35Speaker 1: time to myself. I enjoyed me and a home body.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I've enjoyed being at home. So that's what I mean
- 8:39Speaker 1: when I say being introverted. But definitely the joy of
- 8:43Speaker 1: the Lord is my strength. And this this excitement and
- 8:46Speaker 1: all of that it comes from like God just being
- 8:49Speaker 1: who he is, like being my father and being there
- 8:53Speaker 1: for me. And I gotta spread this joy of this
- 8:56Speaker 1: excitement to everybody else that they can know the Man
- 8:59Speaker 1: of God, or rather the God that I serve he
- 9:03Speaker 1: is his all that a baggagechips, hot sauce plus like
- 9:09Speaker 1: get with it, get with I'm talking to and drop
- 9:12Speaker 1: luck like excuse me, condrew lock it. She has a
- 9:14Speaker 1: new song, a new album of the number two on
- 9:17Speaker 1: the on the church cornerstone. Now, when you let me
- 9:22Speaker 1: ask you this this question, you know that I played back.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I just played basketball in the streets. You know what
- 9:28Speaker 1: I'm saying. And so and so and you if you're
- 9:31Speaker 1: good to get picked, you know, you go, oh, yeah,
- 9:33Speaker 1: I want you with my team. If you're not good,
- 9:35Speaker 1: you know you want us picking your own team, you know,
- 9:37Speaker 1: because you know people they're picking all the good players.
- 9:39Speaker 1: You go, I got next, you sit on the sideline. Okay,
- 9:42Speaker 1: not back to you because you wanted those players that
- 9:45Speaker 1: got picked. Okay. I won't hug, I won't help. When
- 9:51Speaker 1: did you start to realize, let's lock it, that you
- 9:54Speaker 1: one of those special players. Well, honestly, I would have
- 10:00Speaker 1: to say when, um, when I realized it myself. You know,
- 10:06Speaker 1: we think at times when we're being picked and chosen
- 10:10Speaker 1: by people that that's when oh, I'm popping out because
- 10:13Speaker 1: such and such vouches for me. When really it's that
- 10:17Speaker 1: you were that in the beginning. You know, you might
- 10:19Speaker 1: have a little you know, rough age or you know,
- 10:21Speaker 1: you aren't all the way baked, you know, but you
- 10:24Speaker 1: still had to go through the process. You still had
- 10:27Speaker 1: to grow, still had to become. And that's where I was.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I still had to become this flourishing you know artists
- 10:35Speaker 1: or I've even read and um in some articles acclaimed
- 10:40Speaker 1: you know, that's that's well outed for a world clapped boy.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I have become you know, and and and love myself
- 10:47Speaker 1: where I was in the beginning, before I even got
- 10:50Speaker 1: to you know, disappoint beautiful beautiful now you know, as
- 10:54Speaker 1: you know, she is a gifted songwriter, singer, but she's
- 10:58Speaker 1: also where I when she came into my life was
- 11:00Speaker 1: as an entrepreneur. Okay, I know I had to go
- 11:04Speaker 1: into the resume to find out about the gospel background
- 11:07Speaker 1: because you know, she's all up in Target and all
- 11:10Speaker 1: that stuff with her pail. At least you're wearing all
- 11:13Speaker 1: that stuff, are our sister, Because I cannot do that
- 11:15Speaker 1: in the interview that I mentioned sister sus Okay, that's right,
- 11:20Speaker 1: because either what I'm saying, I gotta gotta miss you
- 11:25Speaker 1: the crew. Gotta miss you the crew now. But that's
- 11:27Speaker 1: a whole different lane, that's a whole different creative process.
- 11:31Speaker 1: How did that, you know, really take on a role
- 11:35Speaker 1: in your life and you realize I can do this too. Um.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Actually we started back in two thousand nine, so it's
- 11:42Speaker 1: it's something that we just already had a passion to do. Um.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Now being able to do it well, that didn't come
- 11:51Speaker 1: until i'll say two thousand nineteen when we did a
- 11:55Speaker 1: hard launch with Jolie Noir. Because we sat down, read information,
- 12:01Speaker 1: did the research, um, bumped our heads a little bit,
- 12:04Speaker 1: you know, and we were able to find out, okay, yeah,
- 12:07Speaker 1: this is something that we can definitely do and we
- 12:09Speaker 1: can do it well. And then now when you when
- 12:14Speaker 1: you get a knock on the door from somebody like Target,
- 12:16Speaker 1: that really lets you know, oh yeah, we we all
- 12:19Speaker 1: here doing something like you know, if we ever doubted
- 12:23Speaker 1: it before, we ain't got it doubt no more. Well,
- 12:25Speaker 1: the doubt and then the substance size when you see
- 12:29Speaker 1: your brand on the floor, you know this is tar
- 12:31Speaker 1: J back in the day, that's when you know, that's
- 12:33Speaker 1: how deeply going the neighborhood. You know, we put a
- 12:36Speaker 1: French spin on Target. You're shopping over t J now
- 12:40Speaker 1: walking in that store because you've told me your story
- 12:42Speaker 1: your sister and I uh uh, this story has been
- 12:45Speaker 1: told to me. But that's when my fans to hear
- 12:48Speaker 1: on this particular platform money making Conversations master class talk
- 12:51Speaker 1: about going in the store seeing your brand, talk about
- 12:57Speaker 1: that it was so amazing. Um, going into Target, we
- 13:02Speaker 1: went to several different Targets. Actually, um, we knew that
- 13:06Speaker 1: the full collection was not gonna be in every Target store.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Now Jeo Re Noir was in all Target stores nationwide,
- 13:14Speaker 1: but the full collection was only in certain markets, and
- 13:17Speaker 1: so we went to nine different stores here in Atlanta
- 13:21Speaker 1: because it was it was all over Atlanta, you know,
- 13:24Speaker 1: like this is this is black Ellywood like you know,
- 13:28Speaker 1: and so um, we went into the first location and
- 13:32Speaker 1: it was like wow, like just to be able to
- 13:35Speaker 1: see the two T shirts. It was our Noir Iconty
- 13:38Speaker 1: shirt and then the girl with had T shirt that
- 13:40Speaker 1: we saw and it was like, this is so amazing,
- 13:43Speaker 1: this is so cool that finally something so big and
- 13:47Speaker 1: so amazing has popped off for for us. And we
- 13:50Speaker 1: know that you know, it was because of of the work,
- 13:53Speaker 1: but it really hit me when um, somebody tweeted, oh
- 13:58Speaker 1: my gosh, I see my girl, key you'll unlock his
- 14:00Speaker 1: line and Target you're allay supposed to know that yet.
- 14:05Speaker 1: But okay, so everybody was just that excited. All the
- 14:09Speaker 1: Target stores were that excited about this year's Black History launch,
- 14:13Speaker 1: and UM, we were like, no, we gotta go ahead
- 14:15Speaker 1: and make our announcement. Now it's about to get out
- 14:19Speaker 1: owned it as you said, you owned it. You had
- 14:21Speaker 1: to own the moment, and that's what it was, sneaking out,
- 14:24Speaker 1: not grabbing it on it now. But the fishing explained
- 14:26Speaker 1: to everybody, what is the line? Okay, well, our line
- 14:30Speaker 1: is essential ware, which is dad caps, sweatshirts, joggers, T shirts, UM,
- 14:38Speaker 1: things that you can just go easily pull out of
- 14:40Speaker 1: your closet. UM staple pieces you know that you'll always need.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Back when the pandemic started, uh, you had everybody you
- 14:50Speaker 1: know posting like what am I gonna wear on a
- 14:52Speaker 1: zoo call and look deeper? And what am I gonna
- 14:54Speaker 1: aware just to go out and get a bite to eat,
- 14:56Speaker 1: or just to go to the grocery store and come
- 14:58Speaker 1: back home. And I really don't have of anything. Just
- 15:00Speaker 1: everyday closed and so um people was frowning around looking
- 15:05Speaker 1: for sweatshirts, tease and things like that. And just so
- 15:08Speaker 1: happens that, um, so many people were shopping black at
- 15:12Speaker 1: the time too, and they were tagging us and just
- 15:15Speaker 1: tagging us like crazy, and we had so many people
- 15:18Speaker 1: coming and purchasing, and you know, really pushed us up.
- 15:20Speaker 1: So yeah, everybody needed sweatshirts and T shirts. And that's
- 15:24Speaker 1: what we do. We give you that and it's beautifully branded,
- 15:28Speaker 1: beautifully uh graphic or beautiful rather graphic designs illustrations that
- 15:35Speaker 1: represent black people. Will be right back with more Money
- 15:38Speaker 1: Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. Now let's return to
- 15:45Speaker 1: Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rashan McDonald. You know, and
- 15:50Speaker 1: againting congratulations and uh and it's awesome that you're able
- 15:54Speaker 1: to recite that story with the same amount of love
- 15:56Speaker 1: and energy and humbleness. Humbleness because it is a blessing
- 16:01Speaker 1: to be in there. Just this is a blessing that
- 16:04Speaker 1: being the gospel music. I want to I want to
- 16:06Speaker 1: slow the conversation down a little bit. Coundre, I'm spending
- 16:09Speaker 1: to Coundre lock at bm I Award when your songwriter
- 16:12Speaker 1: in the Fashion Easter Song album Cornerstone number two on
- 16:16Speaker 1: the charts right now. Because you have hip hop, you
- 16:20Speaker 1: have pop, you know, you have blues, you have grunge,
- 16:24Speaker 1: your rock. But when you get the gospel, gospel has
- 16:28Speaker 1: a lot of sounds, a lot of different sounds in it,
- 16:32Speaker 1: but they put it all under gospel and as a
- 16:36Speaker 1: creative force that you are, how do you deal with that? Is?
- 16:39Speaker 1: Is that is that a hindri just gives you a
- 16:41Speaker 1: bigger range to be creative. I think it does give
- 16:45Speaker 1: a bigger range to be creative. Um, the fact that
- 16:48Speaker 1: we are talking about one subject but there are different
- 16:51Speaker 1: sounds to talk about, was like, that's that's beautiful, It's amazing.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Because then I say that as a compliment. Also, I
- 17:01Speaker 1: guess not giving credit because you you know, you've given
- 17:05Speaker 1: credit for pop, You've given because you know that's a
- 17:07Speaker 1: pacific sound. You're given credit for blues, you know, wrap,
- 17:11Speaker 1: hip hop, you know R and B. They even called
- 17:15Speaker 1: slow jams, you know. But when you get the gospels
- 17:17Speaker 1: at gospel and and you know, you know the beaches,
- 17:22Speaker 1: there's so many different sucks. Some of the gospel could
- 17:24Speaker 1: be upbeat something Our gospel could be old school, you
- 17:27Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, James Cleveland, you know, and so
- 17:30Speaker 1: so what what inspires your sound? Because he has to
- 17:33Speaker 1: start from somewhere, you know, like you know, I can
- 17:36Speaker 1: go back in the day. I know, I was a
- 17:38Speaker 1: four tops, I was a temptation. Then the old James
- 17:41Speaker 1: grabbed me and then uh then then the mothership landed
- 17:45Speaker 1: on top of me, okay, and then hip hop just
- 17:47Speaker 1: took me on to the finish line. What grabs you
- 17:50Speaker 1: early on? And also it's also still an inspiration in
- 17:54Speaker 1: your music writing as all those your song stylings. I'm
- 18:00Speaker 1: honestly I'm inspired by R and B sounds. You know
- 18:03Speaker 1: my sound. I'm an urban gospel UH singer, urban contemporary
- 18:08Speaker 1: gospel singer. So my sounds are like a like R
- 18:14Speaker 1: and B sounds. You know, when you think of me,
- 18:16Speaker 1: you think of or rather you can think of like Brandy,
- 18:20Speaker 1: or you can't think of fantasia like I do soul.
- 18:23Speaker 1: I do all types of music. So I'm inspired by
- 18:25Speaker 1: R and B, inspired by soul singers. You know, it's
- 18:29Speaker 1: not just about gospel singers for me. Now, my top
- 18:32Speaker 1: five are Kim Barell, Karen Clark, Shear, Brandy Miley, Cyrus
- 18:36Speaker 1: and um Ella Fitzgerald. So still you know you hear
- 18:41Speaker 1: a combination of all all genres in that. You know so,
- 18:45Speaker 1: but I'm inspired by more more genres than I am.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Gospel as relates to the sound. Now, inspiration for a
- 18:53Speaker 1: lyrical content, all that comes from God and my experiences.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Now you release Calling Stone in September second of this year,
- 19:00Speaker 1: him and you say, cornerstone refers to understanding that everything
- 19:04Speaker 1: needs a strong foundation to stand upon. So you know,
- 19:09Speaker 1: one could just trivialize that, oh that's corner stone, She's
- 19:12Speaker 1: just but that's not you. You actually mean what I
- 19:15Speaker 1: just stated. Please explain to the parties. Well, listen, when
- 19:19Speaker 1: you when I think of um architects and how they
- 19:23Speaker 1: build things, I think about the cornerstone, because that's what
- 19:27Speaker 1: they start with. It's it's called the cornerstone. That's what
- 19:30Speaker 1: they start with to build the foundation. And when the
- 19:33Speaker 1: foundation is solid, once they've built all of the structure,
- 19:37Speaker 1: all of the levels on top of that foundation, no
- 19:39Speaker 1: storms can never come in and knock that building down.
- 19:42Speaker 1: And it's the same thing with our lives when we
- 19:45Speaker 1: have a short foundation. The Bible calls Jesus the chief cornerstone.
- 19:49Speaker 1: So like he's he's so needed in our lives. So
- 19:52Speaker 1: when we have him as the foundation, then when we
- 19:56Speaker 1: build our careers, our marriages, our relations chips, whatever it
- 20:01Speaker 1: is that we're building for me, my my music, career, entrepreneurship,
- 20:05Speaker 1: all that whenever storms come in, because they will, nothing
- 20:09Speaker 1: will be able to knock it down, you know, nothing
- 20:11Speaker 1: we'll be able to knock whatever it is that we've
- 20:12Speaker 1: built down because we built it on on Christ, We've
- 20:15Speaker 1: built it on God, and it's it's so needed. Um Chan,
- 20:19Speaker 1: We've gotta have we gotta have substance, you know, we
- 20:23Speaker 1: gotta have the foundation because the world is going crazy.
- 20:27Speaker 1: But the world also needs great examples of what what
- 20:31Speaker 1: it is to build on a sure foundation. And still
- 20:34Speaker 1: we're walking around tall, even when a pandemic comes in,
- 20:37Speaker 1: to still be walking walking around tall. When when crazy
- 20:40Speaker 1: stuff is going on, they're gonna be looking to people,
- 20:43Speaker 1: you know, because they don't know to look to God.
- 20:44Speaker 1: They're gonna be the people. They're gonna be looking at
- 20:46Speaker 1: people like you, and they're gonna be like that man
- 20:49Speaker 1: right there, he like he keeping stuff together. I'm not
- 20:51Speaker 1: wonder how, And they're gonna ask you, how do you
- 20:53Speaker 1: keep yourself together? And you're gonna say it's Jesus and
- 20:56Speaker 1: they're gonna be like, I need that. I need some
- 20:59Speaker 1: of that right there? With that statement right there, what
- 21:02Speaker 1: is some of the best advice you've been giving, The
- 21:06Speaker 1: best advice that I've been given in this time is
- 21:08Speaker 1: to make sure that you are sure of who you
- 21:11Speaker 1: are in God, because and I know that might sound
- 21:14Speaker 1: so simple, but that is the truth. Be sure of
- 21:17Speaker 1: who you are and God know that he is your father.
- 21:21Speaker 1: If you don't know, get to know him, because this
- 21:23Speaker 1: is the only way that we're gonna be able to
- 21:25Speaker 1: stand tall in trying times is with him. If you
- 21:29Speaker 1: don't know, did you know what you say? If you
- 21:30Speaker 1: don't know, get to know him. If you don't know,
- 21:32Speaker 1: get to know her. Okay, I'm talking about Keandrew Locket
- 21:36Speaker 1: number two on the charts, Cornerstone doing the thing not
- 21:39Speaker 1: only as a songwriter, not only as a singer, but
- 21:42Speaker 1: a fashionista. You walk in Target and see her brand.
- 21:45Speaker 1: You can go into the fashion second, you can walk
- 21:47Speaker 1: down the hallway pick up her music. You can stream
- 21:50Speaker 1: of music, you can dieload of music. That's a brand.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Young lady, you are walking talking Brian, how proud are
- 21:56Speaker 1: you of that? Thank you? Thank you so much? Was
- 22:00Speaker 1: a question. I'm sorry, you are a brand, a walking
- 22:03Speaker 1: talking brand. How how proud of you of that fact?
- 22:07Speaker 1: You know, I'm so proud of it because for years
- 22:10Speaker 1: I've always known that, you know, as even as a
- 22:12Speaker 1: gospel artist, you gotta have a brand. It's got to
- 22:15Speaker 1: be current, it's got to be relevant. And sometimes, you know,
- 22:19Speaker 1: you tossed between um sitting out on the forefront and
- 22:24Speaker 1: being the celebrity and being the star and point all
- 22:28Speaker 1: of the attention on God, you know, because you don't.
- 22:31Speaker 1: You don't you don't want to be doing this and
- 22:33Speaker 1: take all of the attention from God. But you know that,
- 22:36Speaker 1: you know, some attention gotta be on you. You You gotta
- 22:38Speaker 1: have a good brand, and people gotta be able to
- 22:40Speaker 1: see you, and then you're able to point them to Him.
- 22:43Speaker 1: So it's amazing though that I've been able to build
- 22:46Speaker 1: and grow this. But in the beginnings of growing it again,
- 22:49Speaker 1: I tossed between if this was good to have a
- 22:52Speaker 1: brand that people saw me, and then I was like,
- 22:56Speaker 1: but I'll be seeing God when and all actuality they are.
- 23:00Speaker 1: You gotta learn how to balance to well, you know
- 23:02Speaker 1: I I you know I can't sing mislock it. You know,
- 23:05Speaker 1: I'm just like I. I can get a little bit
- 23:07Speaker 1: of a little bit for people tell me to shut up.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I know when to stop. Okay. Now, as as a singer,
- 23:13Speaker 1: you know you have some songs you like, and then
- 23:15Speaker 1: you have your favorite songs. Can you give me a
- 23:18Speaker 1: couple of songs that Yo, these are my songs, Sean,
- 23:21Speaker 1: and then give me a couple of your favorite songs
- 23:23Speaker 1: that you like to perform. Let's go with the songs
- 23:25Speaker 1: that you then inspire you that you know, get you
- 23:27Speaker 1: fired up. Okay, Well, I love It's a song called
- 23:32Speaker 1: Praise Them, praising all praise and praise and Jesus, let's
- 23:39Speaker 1: it save up. He's worthy to be praised. I like
- 23:45Speaker 1: that one. Um I love Kirk Franklin's love love O
- 23:50Speaker 1: word that comes and go. But people all really know
- 23:55Speaker 1: what it means to really love somebody. And then, um,
- 24:01Speaker 1: I love I love so many you know, honestly, this
- 24:05Speaker 1: ain't even gospel, but little Osler brother drift on that.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Come on, girl, ain't no place I'd rather be with you.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Love it, love it, love it. You know that's the
- 24:23Speaker 1: Jim told y'all gonna get it that see, I gotta,
- 24:25Speaker 1: I gotta right there. And that's what girl, right there,
- 24:27Speaker 1: you know, the beauty of your personality, the beauty of you,
- 24:30Speaker 1: and looking at what is the future whole? I know,
- 24:32Speaker 1: you know the corner stone is doing great. I know
- 24:35Speaker 1: you got a fashion line, but you're an entrepreneur at
- 24:37Speaker 1: Hard Okay, your business one month at Hart? What what
- 24:41Speaker 1: what's the next steps? The next steps are to continue,
- 24:44Speaker 1: you know, pushing that. I think that sometimes you know,
- 24:47Speaker 1: we we'd be so you know, just excited. You know,
- 24:50Speaker 1: I'm here, I'm I'm I'm accomplished in this and you know,
- 24:53Speaker 1: but then like we'll let it just sit to the
- 24:55Speaker 1: side and then it die off. This is not dying off.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Joe into All will be an amazing brand, continuing to
- 25:02Speaker 1: be a household name, and so will my brand and
- 25:05Speaker 1: my ministry. So I'm gonna continue to work these things
- 25:09Speaker 1: and um, you know maybe maybe uh maybe a little
- 25:13Speaker 1: marriage down the line to some children. You know. Well,
- 25:18Speaker 1: one thing we know for a fact, Christmas is coming up.
- 25:20Speaker 1: So I gotta get you and your sister back on
- 25:22Speaker 1: my show so we can so we can move that
- 25:25Speaker 1: product out of that store. Shehelf not saying that that moving.
- 25:28Speaker 1: But you know, a little, a little help always helps,
- 25:30Speaker 1: and that's what my job is in this relationship. So
- 25:33Speaker 1: you gotta know your role. My role is I'm your uncle, Mr. Mentor,
- 25:38Speaker 1: but I'm also your board when you need an extra
- 25:41Speaker 1: push because like last time, I need those flyers. Also
- 25:45Speaker 1: need some some banners so I can put in my
- 25:47Speaker 1: newsletter and all that stuff about the cornerstone c D.
- 25:52Speaker 1: You know, I don't know what sometimes you know it's
- 25:53Speaker 1: the albums and c D. I'm going to old school
- 25:56Speaker 1: c D and so we get the word out about
- 25:59Speaker 1: that because the world is already out there. But I
- 26:01Speaker 1: have a different audience. I want to share your brand
- 26:03Speaker 1: with and continue to grow because, like I said, they
- 26:06Speaker 1: always said you might go platinum, but it was all
- 26:08Speaker 1: that says. There was a lot more people could have
- 26:09Speaker 1: bought your album that they bought your They bought your health.
- 26:12Speaker 1: So as an autist out there, they need to hear
- 26:14Speaker 1: you see your brand? Where are your brand here? Your brand?
- 26:18Speaker 1: Think if you're coming on money making conversation and master class, yes, sir,
- 26:21Speaker 1: I appreciate you. We'll be right back
