- 1:19Speaker 1: been downloaded over twelve million times worldwide. He is an
- 1:23Speaker 1: expert in mobile app publishing, marketing and monetization, author of
- 1:28Speaker 1: the Seven Steps to App Success, and host of the
- 1:31Speaker 1: brand new podcast Game Up Growth, which is debated and
- 1:35Speaker 1: uh was it debated in the debut in the top
- 1:41Speaker 1: one hundred business podcast on iTunes. Please welcome to Money
- 1:45Speaker 1: Making Conversation. Muyo yo o comed Okay, muyo o co
- 1:55Speaker 1: may work on it. Don't any about it, man, No, no,
- 2:00Speaker 1: no no. We're going a long term relationship, so I'm
- 2:02Speaker 1: not gonna I'm not gonna do that now. This is
- 2:04Speaker 1: I got you back because I love you and you
- 2:06Speaker 1: and you bring a brand to this radio show that
- 2:08Speaker 1: I and this podcast show and this um when so
- 2:12Speaker 1: many different levels will HBCU campuses, and it's a brand
- 2:15Speaker 1: that's respected and I also have to respect my guests,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and you're one of my respected guests. First of all,
- 2:20Speaker 1: thank you for coming back on the show. How are
- 2:21Speaker 1: you doing. I'm doing, I'm doing amazing. How are you awesome?
- 2:25Speaker 1: You know when we was on the show last time,
- 2:27Speaker 1: like I said, I had both it was a power
- 2:29Speaker 1: couple interview and wow, I ran out of time and
- 2:34Speaker 1: we were just talking about I wanted to just talk
- 2:36Speaker 1: about the journey because I'm a farmer IBM employee. My
- 2:39Speaker 1: degree is in mathematics, and I transitioned into the entertainment world.
- 2:43Speaker 1: You you, you transitioned to more of the technical and
- 2:46Speaker 1: now you're more of the app space and and I
- 2:49Speaker 1: guess you know, branding and and and and just growth
- 2:52Speaker 1: in that digital platform that's out there that's really dominating
- 2:55Speaker 1: the marketplace. When you was at ib did you see
- 2:58Speaker 1: this evolving in this direction or it just Hey, man,
- 3:02Speaker 1: I I saw an opportunity that dropped at it. I
- 3:05Speaker 1: was and I be able to do a certain task,
- 3:07Speaker 1: and I just saw that it was gonna limit my
- 3:08Speaker 1: overall vision. So I guess the way I would put it,
- 3:13Speaker 1: so um, last time, I made a mistake. The last
- 3:17Speaker 1: stop I had before becoming a full time entrepreneur that
- 3:19Speaker 1: was at Microsoft. I got some confused now, But what
- 3:23Speaker 1: happened is that at that time I just kind of
- 3:27Speaker 1: becoming dissatisfied and I kind of just drew it as
- 3:29Speaker 1: a funding switch for whatever I would do in the future,
- 3:32Speaker 1: and I was looking around for different opportunities and apps.
- 3:36Speaker 1: The mobile app space happened to be an exciting one
- 3:38Speaker 1: that I came across. I was able to learn more
- 3:40Speaker 1: about it. I read some books, I took some courses,
- 3:43Speaker 1: I started to become more knowledgeable, start doing some experiments,
- 3:46Speaker 1: and it kind of after a while, it ended up
- 3:49Speaker 1: growing and growing and became something more real. What exactly
- 3:53Speaker 1: is it? You know the word word app? Yea. You
- 3:56Speaker 1: you have these mobile platforms, you have of course traditional
- 4:00Speaker 1: website platform and then you have what exactly is an app?
- 4:05Speaker 1: Sure thing I mean, and it's just a piece of
- 4:08Speaker 1: software that delivers some kind of functionality. It could be
- 4:12Speaker 1: a game, it could be a productivity software. Their apps
- 4:16Speaker 1: that people use to for care appointments. Right for me,
- 4:21Speaker 1: sometimes people um end are focusing too much on trying
- 4:24Speaker 1: to develop some crazy app. I think it all comes
- 4:27Speaker 1: back to business is about you want to solve a
- 4:29Speaker 1: problem for a customer. So, um, this is just one
- 4:33Speaker 1: way of delivering in a place where everybody is. Everybody's
- 4:36Speaker 1: doing their phones every day, you know, even while they're
- 4:39Speaker 1: driving nowadays, right right, and and that's where we are
- 4:42Speaker 1: at now in business world. You know, everything is immediate,
- 4:45Speaker 1: everything is fast. I've just seen the evolution I've designed
- 4:49Speaker 1: would not be designed. I've had several apps designed for
- 4:52Speaker 1: large events I've served over the years, just given my
- 4:56Speaker 1: customers a place to go where they can learn about
- 4:59Speaker 1: the events, scared Joel, learned about the things they can buy,
- 5:02Speaker 1: learning about what they can buy, tickets for various shows
- 5:04Speaker 1: that I put on place. So when you when you
- 5:07Speaker 1: when you are given the opportunity to create an app,
- 5:10Speaker 1: are there any certain things that has to be provided
- 5:13Speaker 1: to you to develop it? Um? Well, yes, yes, you
- 5:18Speaker 1: have to have a very good understanding of who it
- 5:21Speaker 1: is that you're trying to serve. UM, Like I mentioned before,
- 5:25Speaker 1: what problem are you're trying to solve for them? And
- 5:28Speaker 1: I mean those would be the main things, and then
- 5:29Speaker 1: I would also look at in terms of the other
- 5:33Speaker 1: there are probably other existing solutions in the space, whether
- 5:36Speaker 1: those are apps or at their websites or news letters,
- 5:38Speaker 1: whatever you want to see what people are already doing.
- 5:41Speaker 1: It's working that you might be able to borrow from
- 5:43Speaker 1: and that's normal, normally a pretty good place to start.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Well reached maskets. Because you are the author of Seven
- 5:50Speaker 1: Steps to App Success. Why did you write that book? Um,
- 5:55Speaker 1: it's just based on my experience over the last seven
- 5:58Speaker 1: eight years. And what's happened is it? Um, you know,
- 6:01Speaker 1: naturally I'm doing apps, people find out they're here twelve
- 6:05Speaker 1: million downloads and get curious. So everybody wants to have
- 6:08Speaker 1: a conversation to pick my print. And I'm sure you
- 6:10Speaker 1: know from from your experience, like there's just not that
- 6:12Speaker 1: much time in the world, but you still want to
- 6:14Speaker 1: help people. So this was a way for me to
- 6:17Speaker 1: be able to provide provide the knowledge and people can
- 6:21Speaker 1: just get it. And um, it's it's quickly consumable and
- 6:26Speaker 1: um there's not that problem of can I pick your
- 6:29Speaker 1: brain and pick your brainer? So it's really interesting talking
- 6:31Speaker 1: to you because there are so many platforms where people
- 6:34Speaker 1: tell you to grow your brand to develop. You know,
- 6:36Speaker 1: do you have the Instagram, you have Twitter, you have Snapchat,
- 6:39Speaker 1: you have Facebook, and you have this world and apps?
- 6:42Speaker 1: How do what do you feel that you get your
- 6:44Speaker 1: most exposure. Where do you go to build your brand,
- 6:47Speaker 1: to market your bread? What platform do you use? Got it? So, Um,
- 6:52Speaker 1: there's a few. There's a few that I'm focused on
- 6:54Speaker 1: right now. So one, of course you mentioned I have
- 6:56Speaker 1: a podcast, it's called The Game of Growth Podcasts. That's
- 7:00Speaker 1: that's grown pretty well. Um. You know, there's a strong
- 7:03Speaker 1: response from the start. Um and I really like podcasting
- 7:07Speaker 1: and because it's one of the only mediums nowadays where
- 7:10Speaker 1: somebody will really give you. They're almost uninterrupted detention for
- 7:14Speaker 1: long periods of time. So you know, it's like people
- 7:17Speaker 1: are spending hours with me a week listening to me
- 7:19Speaker 1: on the podcast, and they almost feel as if you're
- 7:23Speaker 1: it's not that you're selling, You're almost like a trusted friend.
- 7:26Speaker 1: I'm sure you have that experience with your radio show
- 7:28Speaker 1: now with your podcast as well. Then the other other
- 7:31Speaker 1: ones for me would be, um, Instagram. So I I
- 7:35Speaker 1: like Instagram because I feel like there's just so much opportunity.
- 7:41Speaker 1: People are open to meeting new people on Instagram and
- 7:44Speaker 1: seeing what they're doing. And if you're producing content that
- 7:46Speaker 1: they find valuable that resonates with them, they might follow you.
- 7:49Speaker 1: They might share with their friends. And so a really
- 7:53Speaker 1: quick example of this. So for for our new app,
- 7:55Speaker 1: color new are Um, I recently posted about it and
- 8:00Speaker 1: some big Instagram pages picked it up. Ball Alert posted
- 8:03Speaker 1: about it. Way have to work with them, um, you
- 8:05Speaker 1: know ugly so um the post on bailer Alert and
- 8:09Speaker 1: retweeted it out to all of his Instagram followers and
- 8:12Speaker 1: so hundreds of thousands of people. So this app and
- 8:16Speaker 1: thousands of people downloaded it and sold their friends all
- 8:19Speaker 1: because it's out there, it's on Instagram, They're already they're interacting. UM.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I mean, the content does have to be good as
- 8:25Speaker 1: to renomate with them something they care about. But it
- 8:29Speaker 1: does provide you that instant access to so many people.
- 8:32Speaker 1: And I think they're about four jamillion people using it
- 8:35Speaker 1: every month, bigger than countries right right. The interesting part
- 8:39Speaker 1: about all this with apps a podcasts, especially podcasts. Podcasts
- 8:44Speaker 1: seem to be on fire right now. What in listening
- 8:48Speaker 1: to people and launching podcasts? What do you consider on
- 8:52Speaker 1: an annual Basically it's tied to downloads and plays. What
- 8:56Speaker 1: is successful monthly download? And you know, just do you
- 9:00Speaker 1: have the brands out there to millions and we're not
- 9:03Speaker 1: talking about that what did what do they consider a
- 9:06Speaker 1: successful annual downloads or plays that you that you should
- 9:11Speaker 1: have on a podcast and you you're good, you're great,
- 9:14Speaker 1: and you're on fire, got it? Got it? So I
- 9:17Speaker 1: mean I actually wouldn't even look at it that. I
- 9:19Speaker 1: wouldn't I want to see a qunch, but I wouldn't
- 9:21Speaker 1: look at it that way. I think sometimes people compare.
- 9:24Speaker 1: You know, there's there's step one and somebody else's like
- 9:26Speaker 1: chapter twenty and get discouraged and that's the worst thing.
- 9:30Speaker 1: But you know my wife, for example, my my wife
- 9:33Speaker 1: side Hustle Pro she just hit two million downsos recently
- 9:36Speaker 1: and she's getting like a hundred thousand downloads of months, right, Um,
- 9:41Speaker 1: that's not where her podcast started and um, you know
- 9:45Speaker 1: she she had to build up to there and it
- 9:47Speaker 1: just happened over time. Podcast right now relatively new. Um,
- 9:52Speaker 1: but we've reached around uh ten ten thousand downloads per month,
- 9:57Speaker 1: so you can see quite different numbers. But for me,
- 9:59Speaker 1: it's know, I could still see the impact that it's
- 10:02Speaker 1: making on people. But like even their their podcasts, they
- 10:05Speaker 1: have less downloads that are still highly impactful and there
- 10:08Speaker 1: are people that were tune in each and every week
- 10:10Speaker 1: and they get so much out of it. And those people,
- 10:12Speaker 1: those people who devote that much time to your podcast
- 10:15Speaker 1: are going to be some of your strongest brand advocates,
- 10:18Speaker 1: you know what I mean? I know that's That's why
- 10:21Speaker 1: I'm just trying to let people know where they can monitor.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Don't get discouraged by trying to give your arrange because
- 10:26Speaker 1: of the fact that it's really interesting. Because in the
- 10:28Speaker 1: social media games, if you just if you're just looking
- 10:31Speaker 1: at the numbers of social media stars have or celebrities have,
- 10:35Speaker 1: it could be discouraging if you're running around there with
- 10:37Speaker 1: thousand Instagram followers and not feeling that you you you
- 10:40Speaker 1: can't make an impact or your engagement when it really
- 10:43Speaker 1: comes down to engagement and who you're affect, who are
- 10:45Speaker 1: are affected by your boars, and who's following you. That's
- 10:49Speaker 1: really what it comes down to. Now, I'm right with
- 10:52Speaker 1: you on that, because there there are some you can
- 10:55Speaker 1: have a hundred thousand people following you, right, but they
- 10:58Speaker 1: don't actually care about one thing that you're saying that
- 11:01Speaker 1: you know they're they're they're just quick like and they'll
- 11:03Speaker 1: keep it moving right, whereas somebody else may have seven
- 11:06Speaker 1: D people or one thousand, five hundred people, but those
- 11:09Speaker 1: people are really hooked in anything anything that you say.
- 11:13Speaker 1: So there's an essay that I love. It's called one
- 11:15Speaker 1: thousand True Fans by um. If this guy Kevin Kelly
- 11:19Speaker 1: and he just talks about this concept of one thousand
- 11:22Speaker 1: true fans can really drive your business forward to make
- 11:24Speaker 1: sure that you have a career forever. Um if they're
- 11:27Speaker 1: willing to spend a hundred dollars with you every year,
- 11:31Speaker 1: right and um. So like, if you can just really
- 11:35Speaker 1: concentrate not on the massive numbers, but really just impacting
- 11:39Speaker 1: every person that comes into your world in the deepest way,
- 11:43Speaker 1: then I think you have a stronger foundation and you'll
- 11:47Speaker 1: also be able to grow larger numbers because those people
- 11:49Speaker 1: are gonna tell other people. Okay, before we get out
- 11:52Speaker 1: of this break, I won't tell everybody. Can you tell
- 11:54Speaker 1: everybody how to contact you? And where's your website and
- 11:57Speaker 1: all that stuff. We're gonna come back with another break.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I want to get detailed into your podcast game of
- 12:00Speaker 1: growth for sure. For sure. Right now, I've been very
- 12:04Speaker 1: active on Instagram, so um at real app Magic on
- 12:08Speaker 1: Instagram is a great place to reach me. My email
- 12:11Speaker 1: is y o m u o y o at at
- 12:14Speaker 1: magic dot c O cool. Now, as you as you
- 12:17Speaker 1: give out this information, how often do you post on
- 12:20Speaker 1: your Instagram? Um? So it depends. Right now, I'm managing
- 12:26Speaker 1: three of them and it's uh, it's just difficult. You
- 12:29Speaker 1: managed three different it's three different they're yours or you
- 12:33Speaker 1: manage other other other clients know well, so they're all
- 12:36Speaker 1: for my own brands. So ure's there's real app magic
- 12:42Speaker 1: for you know, everything that I'm doing with apps, whether
- 12:46Speaker 1: it be my own or teaching other people. There's a
- 12:48Speaker 1: Game of Growth, which is for the Game of Growth podcast,
- 12:51Speaker 1: and then there is at Color now are app that's
- 12:54Speaker 1: for a yeah? So yeah, yeah, well, my friend more.
- 12:59Speaker 1: We'll be back right we're talking about what you just said,
- 13:02Speaker 1: Game of Grow and especially your new after Color new air,
- 13:06Speaker 1: and we'll be back with more money Making Conversation Again.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I'm glad you came back on my show. Hope you
- 13:10Speaker 1: enjoying it. I'm enjoying it. But more important, you're given
- 13:13Speaker 1: information to people who need to hear it. Money Making
- 13:15Speaker 1: Conversation is a show bill for people who want to
- 13:18Speaker 1: know the information from the right people. We're back with
- 13:22Speaker 1: more money Making conversations on the phone was a very
- 13:25Speaker 1: talented young man. You know, he's an exciting new or
- 13:28Speaker 1: podcast called Game of Growth. Will yo please tell us
- 13:31Speaker 1: about that Game of Grow? Um? Well, how you started
- 13:35Speaker 1: while you named it that title, and why is it
- 13:39Speaker 1: affecting so many people in such a positive manner? Got it?
- 13:44Speaker 1: Got it? Got it all right, it's still more. We're
- 13:46Speaker 1: still gonna work on it, man. Okay, what's what's your
- 13:51Speaker 1: last name? Ocle May? Yeah? Yeah, if I really, if
- 13:57Speaker 1: I really want to put press on you, my full
- 13:59Speaker 1: first name is or it Stan. So we're not gonna
- 14:04Speaker 1: do that today. I go do that today. I'm struggling
- 14:07Speaker 1: down here. And I had used my first guest after
- 14:11Speaker 1: my after my interview earlier with pre recording my first
- 14:13Speaker 1: live guest. So wow, I'm I'm dealing with it, but
- 14:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna get it right because young man, So let's
- 14:20Speaker 1: keep continue talking about I also want to talk about
- 14:22Speaker 1: your parents and the role they play, but let's first
- 14:24Speaker 1: talk about Game up Growth. Okay, absolutely, so, um yeah,
- 14:29Speaker 1: I've been loving the podcast experience of Game of Growth. Um.
- 14:33Speaker 1: So it started there's one one night recently in the
- 14:37Speaker 1: coffee shops and then like a long day of work,
- 14:39Speaker 1: and then I just started thinking about, Okay, you know,
- 14:43Speaker 1: how can I how can I make more impact with
- 14:48Speaker 1: the knowledge that I had, Like, how can I, um
- 14:52Speaker 1: share the process? You know, as an entspreneur, you go
- 14:54Speaker 1: through a lot of struggles and ups and downs. Sometimes
- 14:57Speaker 1: I would just drop like a little status on it
- 14:59Speaker 1: up out a little status about what I'm going through,
- 15:02Speaker 1: what I'm thinking about on Facebook, and we're just resonate
- 15:04Speaker 1: with a lot of people, but then the conversation just
- 15:06Speaker 1: goes away. So I started thinking about, how can I
- 15:09Speaker 1: create a space where I can talk about these things
- 15:12Speaker 1: in a platform that I have more ownership over and
- 15:15Speaker 1: that people can really interact with and be a part
- 15:17Speaker 1: of informal community. So, um, that's kind of how it started.
- 15:21Speaker 1: The name is kind of a play on Game of Thrones,
- 15:23Speaker 1: which just ended. Um. I love the entrepreneurship game. I
- 15:27Speaker 1: feel that it's a journey of growth and development that
- 15:30Speaker 1: that comes with it. You know, it's to succeed, you
- 15:32Speaker 1: have to have a growth mindset. You have to always
- 15:35Speaker 1: be thinking about how can I get better? What do
- 15:37Speaker 1: I need to learn to reach the next step, So
- 15:39Speaker 1: that that's what that's really what it's all about you know,
- 15:42Speaker 1: it's like skill acquisitions, just keeping a positive mindset, developing
- 15:46Speaker 1: yourself and just treating it as a game. Right now,
- 15:50Speaker 1: when you when you think about your show, about with
- 15:53Speaker 1: your subject matter for each podcast, right right right? So, um,
- 15:58Speaker 1: content is can yeah yeah, so content definitely king. One
- 16:04Speaker 1: way is things that I'm going I'm naturally going through
- 16:07Speaker 1: challenges in my business and things will come up and
- 16:10Speaker 1: I realized that, Okay, this could have a tremendous value
- 16:12Speaker 1: to somebody else who is an entrepreneur who wants to
- 16:15Speaker 1: become one. So then I'll talk about it. So you know,
- 16:18Speaker 1: one example of that would be, um, we're coming out
- 16:23Speaker 1: with the app Color Noir, I get some discouraging messages,
- 16:27Speaker 1: you know, somebody who's not in my business, Um, just
- 16:31Speaker 1: send me some messages about why it's not going to work.
- 16:34Speaker 1: So naturally I want to make an episode or at
- 16:37Speaker 1: least a piece of episodes talking about that and why
- 16:40Speaker 1: people should tune people like that out and make sure
- 16:42Speaker 1: that's around themselves with people who are on the same
- 16:44Speaker 1: path or ahead of them, right. So that's one way.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Another way is just um, you meet up with a
- 16:51Speaker 1: lot of incredible people who have incredible stories and they
- 16:53Speaker 1: may have built businesses that have impacted millions of people
- 16:57Speaker 1: around the world or um this or that, and so
- 17:00Speaker 1: I'm actually want to share that stories and they're learnings
- 17:02Speaker 1: and then also use that as an opportunity where I
- 17:04Speaker 1: can learn and the audience can learn as well. UM.
- 17:06Speaker 1: And then another way is that we're developing this community
- 17:10Speaker 1: on Instagram. Um, there's a game of growth community on Facebook.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I'll just ask people like, hey, how can I help you?
- 17:17Speaker 1: What you want to learn, what you want more of,
- 17:19Speaker 1: what you want less of, and they'll let you know.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Right Well, that's really the three ways. Because if you're
- 17:23Speaker 1: talking to the stuff, they don't care about it. Guess what,
- 17:25Speaker 1: there's no growth. And that's yeah. Yeah, and a lot
- 17:27Speaker 1: of people because it's interesting when you look at the
- 17:31Speaker 1: because you go through Facebook, you see so many people
- 17:33Speaker 1: how these shows and they just started talking, they start motivating,
- 17:36Speaker 1: they start you know, but there's always the consistency, and
- 17:40Speaker 1: I think that that's the that's what you're achieving. That's
- 17:43Speaker 1: the number one thing. And I talk about content because
- 17:45Speaker 1: you can anybody can launch the podcast. Okay, but but
- 17:49Speaker 1: what does that tenth episode sound like or that twenty
- 17:52Speaker 1: episode sound like that thirty episode, because guess what, you
- 17:56Speaker 1: just can't just do a podcast just walk away and
- 17:59Speaker 1: say thinks I think people can just keep recycling that
- 18:02Speaker 1: one podcast. So do you work with the team or
- 18:05Speaker 1: you just get your your chalkboardy your white board, you
- 18:08Speaker 1: just putting everything in order, because that's the part of
- 18:11Speaker 1: the process that a lot of people don't don't fulfill
- 18:14Speaker 1: in their podcasts or their live are they Facebook lives
- 18:17Speaker 1: or shows that they created, the talk show they do
- 18:20Speaker 1: on Tuesday or Wednesday? Is that I'm gonna do it
- 18:23Speaker 1: every Friday? Do it happy hour? Is that content? And
- 18:25Speaker 1: a lot of people failed miserably in achieving that on
- 18:28Speaker 1: a regular basis, right, Yeah, So I'm blessing that respects
- 18:33Speaker 1: to have my wife's you know, I think she's one
- 18:35Speaker 1: of the best, um the best doing it right now.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Um not being biased, being a little body, but you know,
- 18:43Speaker 1: I think I think she's really good at what she does.
- 18:44Speaker 1: I've had the benefit of just watching her put out
- 18:47Speaker 1: content every single week, week after week more or less
- 18:51Speaker 1: the same time, and just the impact that that has
- 18:55Speaker 1: over time, right, So that that's been really great for me. Um.
- 19:00Speaker 1: I don't work with any team in terms of uh
- 19:03Speaker 1: like producer or anything. I mixed it myself. Now I
- 19:08Speaker 1: try to keep everything fairly bare bones. My my kind
- 19:11Speaker 1: of philosophy on it is that I care a lot
- 19:14Speaker 1: more about the the content, um than the polish. You know,
- 19:19Speaker 1: I'm still not gonna I'm not gonna make it sound
- 19:20Speaker 1: like trash and put out the garbage product. But um,
- 19:24Speaker 1: you know, if I say things like I'm I don't care,
- 19:27Speaker 1: I don't care at all, Like I just want you
- 19:29Speaker 1: to hear what I'm saying. I want you to get
- 19:30Speaker 1: value from it. And I wanted to actually help you
- 19:33Speaker 1: to make money or you know, change your mindset or
- 19:36Speaker 1: give you the courage to do something right if I'm
- 19:38Speaker 1: able to do that, And I say, um, like, I'm
- 19:41Speaker 1: not going to be embarrassed about that or apologize for that, right. Um.
- 19:46Speaker 1: But but in terms of what you said about making
- 19:48Speaker 1: sure that you have the consistent episodes, so yeah, I
- 19:51Speaker 1: definitely lay out. I have a little spreadsheet I keep
- 19:53Speaker 1: on um Google dost Google spreadsheets that just different episode ideas,
- 19:59Speaker 1: different things that people have said to me, different questions
- 20:01Speaker 1: I've had, or if an idea just hits me as
- 20:04Speaker 1: I'm going through something, I'll try to document it and
- 20:06Speaker 1: uh that way, there's always a catalet, a lot of
- 20:09Speaker 1: different things that we can tap into. And of course,
- 20:12Speaker 1: if I come across somebody that I think would be
- 20:14Speaker 1: great for the audience, then I'll just reach out to
- 20:16Speaker 1: them and ask and try to schedule them for it.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I he that's awesome. Now. The reason I asked because
- 20:22Speaker 1: a lot of people feel that when they do these podcasts,
- 20:24Speaker 1: these shows, that it has to be all on deal.
- 20:28Speaker 1: But you right, right, you know that. Let's say that
- 20:30Speaker 1: you have the number one asset for you creatively in
- 20:33Speaker 1: contact content that drives your content is your wife. It's
- 20:36Speaker 1: awesome because that means that you have somebody that you
- 20:38Speaker 1: can count on. And a lot of people start these
- 20:40Speaker 1: shows and they just start them without a plan. The
- 20:43Speaker 1: plan is, okay, where are you gonna pull this information
- 20:46Speaker 1: that's gonna consistently keep you successful? Like I meet on Tuesdays,
- 20:50Speaker 1: you know, I didn't call you to rebook you on
- 20:52Speaker 1: this show or staff member call because I can't do
- 20:54Speaker 1: that too. I can't because, like I said, I got
- 20:57Speaker 1: a lot of things going on in my life. My
- 20:58Speaker 1: show is a little bit different from your podcast because
- 21:01Speaker 1: my show relies on guests delivering information to my audience
- 21:05Speaker 1: so they can feel that they're getting there, that there's
- 21:08Speaker 1: value to listening to my show. So absolutely, absolutely, So
- 21:12Speaker 1: when I when I talk to people and I bring
- 21:14Speaker 1: you on the show and you're talking about a game
- 21:15Speaker 1: of growth and you talk about your content, like you said,
- 21:18Speaker 1: periodically you have a guest on the show, but really
- 21:21Speaker 1: that show is about you and providing information, and that's
- 21:24Speaker 1: what people have to understand. If people are listening to
- 21:26Speaker 1: the show and you're building a show on your guests,
- 21:30Speaker 1: then that's good. But if they're not coming there because
- 21:33Speaker 1: you provide value too, then your growth and your success
- 21:37Speaker 1: platform will not be as you will not A lot
- 21:39Speaker 1: of people will not be excited about it because it
- 21:41Speaker 1: really comes back to your Yeah. I think, um, you know,
- 21:46Speaker 1: I think I think it's a balance. Um. Sometimes in
- 21:49Speaker 1: the beginning, if you're getting started in the space and
- 21:52Speaker 1: you're not that experience, I think that it can be
- 21:54Speaker 1: a great thing to um use guests and be getting
- 21:59Speaker 1: your audience value with them. And over time you're probably
- 22:02Speaker 1: learn things from your guests, so that's awesome. Your your
- 22:05Speaker 1: audience to learn things from them, so that's awesome. And
- 22:07Speaker 1: then there's that hello effect where they'll start to associate
- 22:10Speaker 1: you with the people that you have on the show.
- 22:12Speaker 1: So it kind of levels you as well in that way.
- 22:16Speaker 1: And because you're you're learning so much and you're doing more,
- 22:18Speaker 1: you'll naturally be able to share. So like with with
- 22:20Speaker 1: my wife's show, initially it was built primarily around all
- 22:24Speaker 1: of the guests, and then that kind of started to
- 22:26Speaker 1: happen where people just really like, people really want to
- 22:29Speaker 1: hear from her more now, and they'll even get upset
- 22:32Speaker 1: if she doesn't seck in with Matt least once a month.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Let us know what's going on in the business. Now
- 22:37Speaker 1: you go. That's all I'm saying. So now let's talk
- 22:39Speaker 1: about a couple of things. Just talk about your brand
- 22:41Speaker 1: new app that you have. About that, yes, sir, why
- 22:45Speaker 1: why you know? You you're busy man, You're busy man.
- 22:47Speaker 1: You were talking about you got three platforms, you gotta
- 22:49Speaker 1: do social media and you just don't stop, You just
- 22:53Speaker 1: don't stop. Yeah, So we we um, we actually throw
- 22:59Speaker 1: we we cut a lot of ideas out and put
- 23:01Speaker 1: a lot of things into the parking lot. But this
- 23:04Speaker 1: is one that I had to do. So the app,
- 23:06Speaker 1: it's called Color. Now are right now. It's available on iOS.
- 23:10Speaker 1: It's coming soon to Google Play. I've been catching a
- 23:12Speaker 1: lot of hell from so shout out to my androids town.
- 23:14Speaker 1: We got to We're coming soon. But um, it's a
- 23:18Speaker 1: coloring book app. And he's like coloring book why? And
- 23:21Speaker 1: so I definitely having colored since childhood. I didn't know
- 23:24Speaker 1: anything about the coloring book for adults trends, but I
- 23:27Speaker 1: came across the trend a couple of years ago. I
- 23:30Speaker 1: was doing some app store research periodically. I'll just go
- 23:33Speaker 1: through the app store and see what you know. You
- 23:34Speaker 1: gotta stay up on your your field, on your craft.
- 23:36Speaker 1: So I'm going through and I see there are a
- 23:38Speaker 1: bunch of coloring book for adults apps becoming very popular,
- 23:42Speaker 1: being successful, making money. I didn't understand why. So it
- 23:45Speaker 1: turns out that people use them to have fun and
- 23:47Speaker 1: to relax, kind of therapeutic effects. So um, I started
- 23:51Speaker 1: playing around with them a bit, and I started to
- 23:53Speaker 1: understand the appeal. Then I also, of course noticed that
- 23:58Speaker 1: not a lot of these they mostly just ignored black
- 24:01Speaker 1: people for the most part, um black people in after
- 24:04Speaker 1: I thought, in most of these coloring books, and I
- 24:06Speaker 1: started figuring to myself, okay, millions of people a year
- 24:08Speaker 1: are using these things, but they don't, you know, they
- 24:11Speaker 1: don't acknowledge that black people are people. So that that's
- 24:14Speaker 1: that's that's an issue. But I kind of put that
- 24:16Speaker 1: suicide for a while. But we watched Black Panther whenever
- 24:20Speaker 1: came out a year ago, two years ago, um, and
- 24:23Speaker 1: it had such a big impact on myself when my
- 24:25Speaker 1: wife on everybody, right, even some of the developers I
- 24:28Speaker 1: worked with overseas. One of my developers, one of my
- 24:31Speaker 1: artists in Sri Lanka that he watched it seven times
- 24:34Speaker 1: within the first two weeks. So I started thinking about, man,
- 24:38Speaker 1: you got this black story with a black cast and
- 24:41Speaker 1: black actors, black director. You know, the money behind it
- 24:45Speaker 1: might not have been black, but everything else was black.
- 24:47Speaker 1: And it has such a big impact billion dollar openings, right,
- 24:52Speaker 1: you know, So we were just right out of time
- 24:55Speaker 1: or you again, I tell you something. You are just
- 24:57Speaker 1: a talker, big time. I gotta bring you back third time.
