- 5:52Speaker 1: because I would going through everything, you know, I go around.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I've never done that before, but I would just read
- 5:57Speaker 1: your bio if you just flowed at such a uh
- 6:00Speaker 1: just a natural state. And I wait. You know, sometimes
- 6:04Speaker 1: when you know, you you put people out there, and
- 6:05Speaker 1: I always tell people your golden life is for your
- 6:09Speaker 1: resume and who you are to actually meet. And when
- 6:13Speaker 1: I read your bio, I felt that and I said,
- 6:16Speaker 1: you know something, she's don't mind. I want to read
- 6:19Speaker 1: it because usually you know, usually gets read when you
- 6:21Speaker 1: when they when they get your you know, a key
- 6:23Speaker 1: to the city, and they put all that stuff on there,
- 6:26Speaker 1: and the person who's reading it really can't read, and
- 6:28Speaker 1: it'd be like ten minutes you just standing and they're going, Lord,
- 6:32Speaker 1: I hope they heard every hope they put everything to
- 6:34Speaker 1: my bio on there, and they did. You just standing up.
- 6:37Speaker 1: This is the longest day of my life. It's both
- 6:39Speaker 1: be my happiest moment was the longest day in my life.
- 6:42Speaker 1: So Sherry, that is my Keys of the City, Mighty
- 6:46Speaker 1: making Conversations. I'm giving it to you. Ms Riley wlcome
- 6:49Speaker 1: to my show. Thank you, thank you so much. I'm
- 6:54Speaker 1: so excited to be here having a conversation with you.
- 6:57Speaker 1: And you see my energy because you know I've send
- 7:00Speaker 1: over the course of the week, and I know the
- 7:02Speaker 1: last couple of weeks death came on with a lot
- 7:04Speaker 1: low energy. So my energy is up. I'm ready. We're good,
- 7:07Speaker 1: and let's talk about you don't want to talk about
- 7:09Speaker 1: a couple of things, but of course we want to
- 7:11Speaker 1: talk about your book expll Nutral Living. I read the
- 7:13Speaker 1: book so we can really talk. And that's one thing
- 7:16Speaker 1: I always what if anybody on Facebook want to make
- 7:18Speaker 1: a comment or deliver comments so we can ask you
- 7:20Speaker 1: a questions or any questions throughout the show. Please do
- 7:23Speaker 1: go to Money Making Conversation at Money Making Conversations and
- 7:26Speaker 1: you can live with questions. Now, you young Kentucky girl,
- 7:29Speaker 1: came over down to Atlanta, got in the music industry,
- 7:32Speaker 1: and that basically tells me a lot about you because
- 7:36Speaker 1: you didn't allow your surroundings to limit who you could be.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Let's start there, why not very true. Well one my dad,
- 7:45Speaker 1: I mean my dad always said that they sharing love,
- 7:48Speaker 1: find what you love to do, and you'll never have
- 7:50Speaker 1: to work, right, And that just set in me. And
- 7:53Speaker 1: I've always loved for I always loved music, entertainment, and
- 7:57Speaker 1: I've always loved business. And so when I was about
- 8:00Speaker 1: fifteen years old, I just I really had this idea
- 8:05Speaker 1: that I wanted to work at the entertainment industry, that
- 8:07Speaker 1: I'm a date myself, because I would fisting. There was
- 8:11Speaker 1: no entertainment industry in Atlanta. There was no Google, no
- 8:15Speaker 1: cell phone. So the only thing me and my family
- 8:18Speaker 1: knew about in a tenment was trying, right, absolutely absolutely,
- 8:22Speaker 1: So if you go dat me, I'm in that dating club,
- 8:26Speaker 1: So you can stop talking all that. I would stop
- 8:28Speaker 1: you right now sharing okay on this dating because see,
- 8:31Speaker 1: first of all, I would tell people you have to
- 8:35Speaker 1: get older to have an experience, and you have the
- 8:38Speaker 1: older to have a value. So so look here that
- 8:42Speaker 1: the cell phone is less than ten years old. Okay,
- 8:46Speaker 1: let's go through my iPhone. I don't know how much
- 8:49Speaker 1: dating you trying to do, because ten years ago, you know,
- 8:52Speaker 1: it didn't exist. It just becomes such a part of
- 8:55Speaker 1: our life. It makes us feel like it's been with
- 8:57Speaker 1: us twenty and thirty years, but it's only been around
- 8:59Speaker 1: with a ten years because that's when on the iPhone.
- 9:02Speaker 1: It's when Hillary Clinton announced her presidency, when she was
- 9:05Speaker 1: running for the first time against President of the Rock
- 9:08Speaker 1: Barack Obama. So so I that conversation because I brought
- 9:13Speaker 1: you on the show. And this is positive because of
- 9:16Speaker 1: the fact that your resume, like I told you, has
- 9:19Speaker 1: it reached the point in life when you talk, people
- 9:22Speaker 1: need to be listening because you're the truth. You're not
- 9:25Speaker 1: making up anything your experiences and that's what I took
- 9:28Speaker 1: away from your book was that exponential living because your
- 9:32Speaker 1: experiences were real. And then you said you don't believe me.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Let me go grab some people that you might know
- 9:38Speaker 1: and let them share exponential living advice to you, so
- 9:42Speaker 1: you can let people know that what I'm talking about
- 9:45Speaker 1: is real. So now we got that dated conversation out
- 9:48Speaker 1: the way, let's start the show right. I brought Shared
- 9:51Speaker 1: Riley on this show to change people's lives. I brought
- 9:55Speaker 1: Sherifed Riley on this show because guess what, when she
- 9:58Speaker 1: stands up in front of the room, people look at
- 10:00Speaker 1: them because they need to be focused, they need to
- 10:02Speaker 1: have a path to success. That's why I got to
- 10:05Speaker 1: the show. Well, you know what you just said is
- 10:08Speaker 1: so real, because that is exactly was my intention is.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I wanted this to be real. I wanted the message
- 10:15Speaker 1: to you because I started this journey trying to help myself.
- 10:19Speaker 1: That's why whistled all about I needed help. I was.
- 10:22Speaker 1: You know, when I resigned from a Faith Records, I
- 10:24Speaker 1: was burnt out. I was miserable. My hair was falling out.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I had this amazing career, I had this amazing light.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I was doing everything I wanted to do, but I
- 10:36Speaker 1: was just living in this nail to centers. That's who
- 10:39Speaker 1: I was. And so that was the intention in the book.
- 10:42Speaker 1: I didn't want theory. I didn't want to give someone
- 10:44Speaker 1: some research group. I generally wanted you to see, here's
- 10:48Speaker 1: the journey, and here's some other people that have experienced
- 10:51Speaker 1: the journey, and guess what, none of us are special.
- 10:54Speaker 1: You can do this too. You can do this too.
- 10:57Speaker 1: And that was the incentive the book. Now, you said
- 10:59Speaker 1: that the book is not about work life balance. Explain
- 11:03Speaker 1: that to me, right, because what I found is balance.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Is this elusive idea that we really can't accomplish. And
- 11:11Speaker 1: so many of us are trying to accomplish balances right.
- 11:14Speaker 1: We're trying to balance work and family, and we're trying
- 11:18Speaker 1: to balance our philanthropic endeavors, our community endeavors. And the
- 11:22Speaker 1: reality is that doesn't exist. If I'm in l A
- 11:24Speaker 1: speaking and my daughters in Atlanta, she spook, balance says,
- 11:28Speaker 1: I can pick her up. No, No, what really exists
- 11:32Speaker 1: its full life integration. We have to stop making everything
- 11:37Speaker 1: equal because it's not, and we have to start figuring
- 11:41Speaker 1: out how do we integrate our families, how do we
- 11:44Speaker 1: integrate dating if we're single, how do we integrate advancing
- 11:48Speaker 1: on the career ladder, how do we integrate being an
- 11:51Speaker 1: entrepreneur but still being active in our community. And when
- 11:55Speaker 1: we look at it that way, and when I help
- 11:56Speaker 1: my climents look at it that way, first of all,
- 11:59Speaker 1: it removed the guilt of this unrealistic idea of balance,
- 12:02Speaker 1: and then it allows us to have more realistic expectations
- 12:06Speaker 1: of what we can do. And so many women there's
- 12:09Speaker 1: the guilt of oh my god, I'm not sitting in
- 12:11Speaker 1: us of my family. And then for many men they
- 12:15Speaker 1: share that saying guilt as if I'm out here working
- 12:17Speaker 1: and I'm not with my family. But when you focus
- 12:20Speaker 1: on the more quality of the time, the quality of
- 12:24Speaker 1: the time, if you move that guilt. Now, let me
- 12:27Speaker 1: assu you this. This is really interesting because you know,
- 12:30Speaker 1: you're your speaker, and sometimes when you go in the
- 12:32Speaker 1: room and you see all these people and this and
- 12:35Speaker 1: this hope in this direction. So when you're introduced on
- 12:38Speaker 1: stage in front of the room full of strangers, what
- 12:42Speaker 1: is your top three themes that you're trying to accomplish?
- 12:45Speaker 1: The top one thing that you're trying to accomplish when
- 12:48Speaker 1: you immediately um such a stage for delivering your your
- 12:53Speaker 1: motivation or your empowerment moment, but those things you wn,
- 12:56Speaker 1: I'll probably surprised you the first step on that stage.
- 13:01Speaker 1: The first thing I want that audience to do is
- 13:05Speaker 1: to actually go, Wow, this is gonna be worth my time.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Because our time is our most valuable asset. And so
- 13:15Speaker 1: in that first thirty to sixty seconds, that first you know,
- 13:18Speaker 1: ninety seconds, I need to make the audience feel that
- 13:21Speaker 1: if I sit here and pay attention to her, she
- 13:24Speaker 1: is gonna give me something that it's gonna allow me
- 13:27Speaker 1: to make a this decision that's gonna help me and
- 13:31Speaker 1: this is not going to be a waste of my time.
- 13:33Speaker 1: That is the most important thing for me when I
- 13:35Speaker 1: hit that stage. And and so now now the wow,
- 13:39Speaker 1: now the wow, you know, okay, because that's that's very key,
- 13:42Speaker 1: you know, being a performer, stand up comic. I understand,
- 13:46Speaker 1: you know when people say, Rachel McDonald, give a couple
- 13:48Speaker 1: of credits, I want that applause, and I stand there.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I have to do. I have to at least let
- 13:54Speaker 1: them know I'm not afraid. And I think that that's
- 13:57Speaker 1: that's important because a lot of people don't understand that
- 13:59Speaker 1: you like anything. You can sense when somebody's unorganized. You
- 14:02Speaker 1: he says, with somebody is delivering something that's not has
- 14:05Speaker 1: no value to you. So when we come back, Sharry Sherry,
- 14:08Speaker 1: I want you to hold that thought, because when we
- 14:10Speaker 1: get into the book, I wanted, well, I want to
- 14:12Speaker 1: I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go all
- 14:14Speaker 1: over the book. And now I'm gonna go back and
- 14:15Speaker 1: talk to Junior, you know, James Lopez. You know, I
- 14:18Speaker 1: want to talk about your mom was with me. I
- 14:20Speaker 1: was just leting you know, I read your foot back,
- 14:24Speaker 1: you know, because of the fact that on page two
- 14:26Speaker 1: seventy five when you start talked about faith that book
- 14:29Speaker 1: that Chaptain right there, I read three times and so
- 14:32Speaker 1: because it's a different type of faith that you was
- 14:34Speaker 1: talking about. So when you come back, we have more
- 14:36Speaker 1: with Sharon Ryan. She gonna Rusan McDonald read my boot. Hi,
- 14:45Speaker 1: I'm back this Rushan McDonald on the phone. I have
- 14:48Speaker 1: the author of Exponential Living, Cherry Riley Sr. Are you
- 14:52Speaker 1: still there? I am, okay, Cherry. Let's talk about some
- 14:56Speaker 1: of the celebrities are influential people that you brought into
- 14:59Speaker 1: the book that I felt made a impact because it
- 15:02Speaker 1: validated basically the message that you're trying to get out
- 15:05Speaker 1: to everyday people. Uh. And several of my new you
- 15:08Speaker 1: know which is which is a good thing? And some
- 15:11Speaker 1: of them like James Lopez when when you when I
- 15:13Speaker 1: read about James Lopez, James Lopez used to be a
- 15:16Speaker 1: record labeled exactly now he's with will Packer. If you
- 15:18Speaker 1: know Will Packer, Will Packer. He's done all the ride
- 15:20Speaker 1: along movies. He did the movies with Steve and I
- 15:23Speaker 1: said myself, think like a man and think like a
- 15:25Speaker 1: man too. Very influential movie and TV producer in Hollywood,
- 15:30Speaker 1: graduated from FAMI you and now James Lopez is is
- 15:34Speaker 1: running all his films, his films uh UM and also
- 15:39Speaker 1: involved with Clint Colepepper, who's the president of screen Jams.
- 15:43Speaker 1: And it was interesting that when you brought him in
- 15:45Speaker 1: the book, Well, I was important to bring a person
- 15:47Speaker 1: like James Lopez, which is an everyday person into your
- 15:50Speaker 1: book to talk about exponential living. So so many of
- 15:54Speaker 1: us are afraid of transition. So many of us are
- 15:58Speaker 1: afraid of the reality is that we've accomplished a goal
- 16:01Speaker 1: and it's okay to have a whole another goal. And
- 16:04Speaker 1: James so represented transition. I mean, as you know, he
- 16:08Speaker 1: was a vice president at a record label. UM he
- 16:11Speaker 1: accomplished that at the highest level, but he also wanted
- 16:14Speaker 1: to get into film, which is though the industries are
- 16:18Speaker 1: both entertainment, they're very different, very different stuff wom influenced,
- 16:21Speaker 1: very different skill set and so over a five year
- 16:25Speaker 1: period he did the behind the scenes work that no
- 16:28Speaker 1: one knew about, reading scripts, learning how to read scripts,
- 16:32Speaker 1: and he did the work. So by the time he
- 16:35Speaker 1: got the opportunity, in his mind, he had already been
- 16:38Speaker 1: doing the job. And I wanted people to hear that story.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I wanted people to understand that you can reach high
- 16:44Speaker 1: levels of success in your area and then decide I
- 16:48Speaker 1: want to do something else. I've been a successful corporate executive.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Now I want to run a nonprofit and we can
- 16:54Speaker 1: do that. But so many people I come across, they're
- 16:57Speaker 1: absolutely dread getting up on Monday. He because they've been
- 17:01Speaker 1: somewhere for ten years too long, because they're too afraid
- 17:04Speaker 1: of transition. And I needed people to hear change the story.
- 17:08Speaker 1: And that was very important. So when you when you
- 17:10Speaker 1: take a person like him because he's he's more online
- 17:12Speaker 1: the everyday person, because he's a corporate person, you know,
- 17:15Speaker 1: nine to five person. And I do know James because
- 17:18Speaker 1: James sold did the Ring Toom deal for Steve and
- 17:21Speaker 1: I back when radio in Los Angeles. I do know
- 17:24Speaker 1: James the kid. I to make that transition. And then
- 17:27Speaker 1: the father, and he's a father, he's her father, he's
- 17:30Speaker 1: a husband. I needed people to see that here was
- 17:33Speaker 1: that complete story, corporate executive and parents and husband. And
- 17:38Speaker 1: then I then I love the factor you brought in
- 17:40Speaker 1: Junior Bridgeman, who was an athlete. You know, an athlete,
- 17:43Speaker 1: you know, this is the story. This is the athlete
- 17:45Speaker 1: are about the bankruptcy stories, but you don't hear about
- 17:47Speaker 1: the the junior Bridgements of the world, who owned over
- 17:50Speaker 1: a hundred and ninety five franchises in a predominant amount
- 17:54Speaker 1: of Wendy's. You know Wendy's. He's the man in Wendy's.
- 17:56Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. And so you bring him
- 17:58Speaker 1: in because that gives you a guy who's who's who's
- 18:01Speaker 1: up that corporate letter, who's he is truly the entrepreneur
- 18:05Speaker 1: and when we see it, he's he took his seed money,
- 18:08Speaker 1: which is that which was the athletic career and turning
- 18:12Speaker 1: into an entrepreneurship career. Why was he important to your book? Well,
- 18:17Speaker 1: and with JR. And here's the key he played at
- 18:20Speaker 1: the time when they didn't have those million dollar contracts. Absolutely,
- 18:24Speaker 1: he was a sixth man too. He wouldn't even start.
- 18:26Speaker 1: He was a six months. I wasn't even started. He
- 18:28Speaker 1: was a sixth man. And and so it was key
- 18:30Speaker 1: with his story because when I'm a woman of faith,
- 18:33Speaker 1: I don't push my faith on anyone um. But I
- 18:36Speaker 1: knew his story of faith, and I knew how adamant
- 18:39Speaker 1: he was about representing this, you know, a man of faith,
- 18:43Speaker 1: and what's the principle of courage to be faithful? It's
- 18:46Speaker 1: about healing. Most people thought it was about like faith
- 18:50Speaker 1: from a Christian standpoint, but it really was about the healing.
- 18:53Speaker 1: And I wanted to really tell his story of how
- 18:56Speaker 1: he had to stand in these very courageous places and
- 19:00Speaker 1: really grow through the process of being where he is now.
- 19:05Speaker 1: I mean, he's almost a billionaire, right, y'all. He has
- 19:08Speaker 1: the private plane, he has all of that. But when
- 19:11Speaker 1: you meet Junior, as you know, he is just as
- 19:14Speaker 1: down the earth every day, like if you didn't know,
- 19:17Speaker 1: you wouldn't know. And so I wanted people to see,
- 19:20Speaker 1: here's the story that they think they know that I
- 19:23Speaker 1: needed them to go behind the veil and really understand
- 19:26Speaker 1: how he really every day makes decisions dates on courage,
- 19:30Speaker 1: and that courage comes from the ability to stand in
- 19:34Speaker 1: the power of his own personal faith. Cool. And I
- 19:37Speaker 1: wanted to know for one last person I gotta bring
- 19:40Speaker 1: up is the Usher relationship, because that was important because
- 19:43Speaker 1: it reminds me so much of a decision I had
- 19:46Speaker 1: to make with Steve way back in ninety three four. Uh,
- 19:50Speaker 1: And so I wanted people I want you to share
- 19:53Speaker 1: everybody your story so I can show everybody a comparative
- 19:56Speaker 1: story to let everybody know decisions like that I'll be
- 20:00Speaker 1: made every day, and you need to join the club.
- 20:05Speaker 1: You know these are unique decisions. So please tell him
- 20:08Speaker 1: your story about Usher, and then I'm gonna tell them
- 20:10Speaker 1: my story about Steve Harvey and guess what, both of
- 20:13Speaker 1: them are gonna sound similar. They were tough decisions, but
- 20:16Speaker 1: there were decisions we had to make. Yes, So I
- 20:21Speaker 1: when I started at Leface Records, actual was a fifteen
- 20:24Speaker 1: year old unknown like no one knew him. He was
- 20:27Speaker 1: in the midst of trying to record an album, his
- 20:29Speaker 1: voice was changing, he had dispassed me, and so when
- 20:34Speaker 1: I got there, the record label didn't know what to
- 20:36Speaker 1: do with him, and he wasn't a priority in any
- 20:39Speaker 1: way and no shape form of fashion. People wouldn't even
- 20:43Speaker 1: listen to me when I would talk about him in
- 20:44Speaker 1: the meeting. And so for me, coming from Kentucky, mid
- 20:48Speaker 1: western girl, I had a dream here as this kid,
- 20:51Speaker 1: he had a dream, and so we really bonded in
- 20:55Speaker 1: really building his career with me, him and his mom.
- 20:58Speaker 1: That really spearhead did the work to launch him as
- 21:02Speaker 1: an artist and and and so there was this trust
- 21:06Speaker 1: factor that he had for me as his marketing recortive,
- 21:09Speaker 1: as his friend and you know, Rashan, you have to
- 21:12Speaker 1: have some key people you trust when you're an artist,
- 21:16Speaker 1: and and that was critical. And for him, he was
- 21:18Speaker 1: at this point an eighteen year old, still a kid.
- 21:21Speaker 1: But for me, I knew my time that was faced
- 21:24Speaker 1: was over. And so I had to make the really
- 21:27Speaker 1: tough decision that in launching my business, that I would
- 21:31Speaker 1: not work with us sure that he would not be
- 21:33Speaker 1: a client, which was bananas, because you know, when you're
- 21:36Speaker 1: launching a business, you're supposed to leave what a great client,
- 21:40Speaker 1: which he would have been a great client. But I
- 21:42Speaker 1: knew he needed my friendship more than my marketing exspatise.
- 21:46Speaker 1: I knew that he needed someone solid in his corner.
- 21:50Speaker 1: And so I've made the decision not to work with him.
- 21:54Speaker 1: And you know, that's hundreds of millions of dollars that
- 21:56Speaker 1: I passed up. But it was the rightest visions because
- 22:01Speaker 1: that was so integral for him to go from child
- 22:05Speaker 1: stars to grown man who is now an icon. Because
- 22:09Speaker 1: in that journey, if I had remained a part of
- 22:12Speaker 1: his team, I would have been one of the many.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Everyone in his world was with him. He had nowhere
- 22:20Speaker 1: to go to just be him. So we had those
- 22:22Speaker 1: tough conversations when a lot of these child stars transition
- 22:27Speaker 1: and they don't have anyone that's rooted and who there
- 22:29Speaker 1: are as a man or a woman, and they make
- 22:32Speaker 1: really challenging decisions that the public then gets succeed. Well,
- 22:36Speaker 1: was usher. I used to say him all the time,
- 22:39Speaker 1: I'm more concerned with you the man than he's a brand.
- 22:42Speaker 1: And so I was able to stand in a place
- 22:44Speaker 1: in his life where he could make really solid decisions
- 22:47Speaker 1: because he had someone in his corner who wasn't making money,
- 22:51Speaker 1: genuinely loved him, and it wasn't For me as a
- 22:53Speaker 1: business woman, it was a very tough decision, because you know,
- 22:57Speaker 1: I was there was my money that was like from
- 23:00Speaker 1: the table. But for me as a woman and as
- 23:02Speaker 1: a person, it has been priceless, our relationships has been priceless.
- 23:07Speaker 1: And then here was almost twenty five years later, he writes,
- 23:10Speaker 1: before that really shares the journey of why the message
- 23:14Speaker 1: of exponential living is so important. Awesome, Now, that was fantastic.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Now let me share my little bit of story because
- 23:22Speaker 1: it's very similar to that, because in ninety four, you know,
- 23:26Speaker 1: Steve and I was on ABC's Me and the Boys.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Um show was a hit on ABC, but ABC counseled
- 23:34Speaker 1: the show. And so I always tell people that Robert
- 23:38Speaker 1: Townsend rescued my writing career and brought me on parenthood
- 23:42Speaker 1: and that enabled me to become an independent writer. Steve
- 23:45Speaker 1: brought me into television as a sitcom writer. But Robert
- 23:49Speaker 1: Townsend saved my career because he gave me a allowed
- 23:52Speaker 1: me to diversify. I wasn't under Steve's my brother, very
- 23:55Speaker 1: similar to what you just said with us. Now what
- 23:57Speaker 1: Steve came back on TV with Steve Harvey Show. That
- 24:01Speaker 1: was a tough decision for me to make. Do I
- 24:03Speaker 1: stay independent and try to build my resume and try
- 24:06Speaker 1: to build my resume this is important, or go back
- 24:10Speaker 1: under the Steve Harvey umbrella, which had been my only credit.
- 24:14Speaker 1: And that decision I made was to say, I'm gonna
- 24:16Speaker 1: trust rou Sean McDonald just like you went, I'm gonna
- 24:19Speaker 1: trust Sherry Riley. I'm gonna go out there and you go,
- 24:23Speaker 1: who showing your podcast yourself hundreds of hundreds of thousands
- 24:26Speaker 1: of dollars. Yeah, but I also wanted to build a brand,
- 24:29Speaker 1: and even back then when the word brand wasn't being
- 24:32Speaker 1: thrown out there, you understood that you had to you
- 24:34Speaker 1: had to build who you were first. And by building
- 24:37Speaker 1: who you were first, there's a high level of respect
- 24:40Speaker 1: in your relationship, which is gonna carry a lot further.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Same thing with Steve. Then, many years later, two thousand
- 24:46Speaker 1: and I started managing him and the rest is history.
- 24:48Speaker 1: But I started managing him because he saw the work
- 24:51Speaker 1: that I had accomplished without him. That's why sometimes you
- 24:54Speaker 1: gotta say no before you say yes. If you got
- 24:57Speaker 1: to step away in order to get the respect act.
- 25:00Speaker 1: And when you look at my resume and I'm able
- 25:02Speaker 1: to step away from him, now you look at my resume.
- 25:05Speaker 1: A body of work is not just a body of
- 25:07Speaker 1: worker just Steve Harvey. It's a body where it's a career.
- 25:10Speaker 1: And so when I look at Sherry's career, while I'm
- 25:12Speaker 1: excited to have on the show, her body of work
- 25:15Speaker 1: is a career. You know, when you start ludicrous, Will Packer,
- 25:20Speaker 1: Boris Kojo, Eric Parker, you know there are different The
- 25:25Speaker 1: key A Dult from Louisville, Peerless price Out, the University
- 25:29Speaker 1: of Tennessee first round draft pick. Come on now, came
- 25:32Speaker 1: from Buffalo all the way down to Atlanta to catch them.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Rise up. That's not people on your resume. That's just
- 25:39Speaker 1: a few of those people on your resume. That's why
- 25:41Speaker 1: I know it's important that we keep building this relationship
- 25:44Speaker 1: like that. Yes, And and that was so she you know,
- 25:50Speaker 1: on the back end, because I should try for five
- 25:53Speaker 1: years for me to still work with him, and he
- 25:56Speaker 1: finally one day, he finally got it, and it was
- 25:59Speaker 1: probably ten years later, and it was just what you said.
- 26:02Speaker 1: He was like, Sherry, the one of the reasons I
- 26:05Speaker 1: have so much respects to you beyond just our personal
- 26:08Speaker 1: relationship is exactly what he said. He was like, you
- 26:12Speaker 1: have never stood on my name to accomplish anything. He
- 26:17Speaker 1: was like, and you, of all people could, He was like,
- 26:19Speaker 1: you're the one person could, he said, but you never had.
- 26:23Speaker 1: And he was able to see the work that I
- 26:26Speaker 1: put into just being a woman of integrity. And that
- 26:30Speaker 1: was what was so key for me, is I really
- 26:32Speaker 1: wanted to always end this, you know, extremely challenging entertainment
- 26:36Speaker 1: industry to always stand for integrity. And that's why something
- 26:39Speaker 1: you said at the very beginning of this call means
- 26:42Speaker 1: everything to me. And you said your body of work
- 26:46Speaker 1: truly represents who you are, and that Rashaant, that was
- 26:50Speaker 1: what I committed to just being. You know, like I
- 26:52Speaker 1: said with my dad and his impact is in this
- 26:55Speaker 1: entertainment industry. I always wanted my integrity to walk in
- 26:58Speaker 1: the door before I did, and my body of work
- 27:01Speaker 1: to then represent that. And so thank you for that,
- 27:03Speaker 1: because you're not even knowing it said something so powerful
- 27:07Speaker 1: for me, and I appreciate that. I appreciate you, and
- 27:10Speaker 1: that's why I read your body of work because you're
- 27:13Speaker 1: more than the introl your body of work. And when
- 27:16Speaker 1: you're striving to let people understand why this this young
- 27:19Speaker 1: lady talking to me, Why Sean McDonald have on the
- 27:23Speaker 1: show because of our body of work, a lot is
- 27:25Speaker 1: effected me. It is a body of work that I
- 27:28Speaker 1: can share a story that is very similar to her change,
- 27:31Speaker 1: and that's a lot. You know, when you can start
- 27:34Speaker 1: just walking in the room and you affect so many people,
- 27:37Speaker 1: that means that when you're communicating with people, you have
- 27:39Speaker 1: an open understanding of how they can be successful too.
- 27:42Speaker 1: That's why I wanted you on the show. Tell people
- 27:44Speaker 1: how they can reach out to you to get the
- 27:46Speaker 1: Exponential Living book because I'm gonna have you on back
- 27:48Speaker 1: on the show to a t And I've already had
- 27:51Speaker 1: a side conversation that we're gonna talk during the Christmas break. Yes,
- 27:55Speaker 1: that I'm looking so forth to it. I am. My

- 29:16Speaker 1: Muhammad Adli. She's also an undefeated world boxing champion and
- 29:21Speaker 1: fitness expert, a Cooper author, and the host of Homemade
- 29:24Speaker 1: Simple on own network. Please work with the money making
- 29:27Speaker 1: conversation later, I'll leave. Hello. How you doing this, Ali?
- 29:35Speaker 1: I'm doing wonderful. How are you doing? Or you know,
- 29:37Speaker 1: I see you on TV? You stay on TV, which
- 29:39Speaker 1: is a good thing, right every time I see Yes
- 29:41Speaker 1: said this curious, talented, you have a personality that's so engaging.
- 29:46Speaker 1: And so you have this new show and I you know,
- 29:49Speaker 1: I went online. I won't watched eight episodes of Wow,
- 29:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something. Yeah, eight episodes and and
- 29:55Speaker 1: uh and first of all, before I started just babbling
- 29:58Speaker 1: about the show, telling body from your perspective, what is
- 30:02Speaker 1: home made Simple? Two? Sisum three work Home Everybody and
- 30:07Speaker 1: his word Made Simple, where she's the host and just
- 30:10Speaker 1: on the Oprah Winfrey Network, is on Saturday at nine am. Yes,
- 30:15Speaker 1: so homemade Temples. The show has actually been on for
- 30:18Speaker 1: uh six seasons. This is seven seasons. I'm a new host.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Or we do as we go into people's homes. People
- 30:24Speaker 1: were very deserving. It's always like a backstory there that
- 30:27Speaker 1: we share, uh now with me being the host and
- 30:30Speaker 1: I going in with the designer and a carpenter and
- 30:32Speaker 1: we make over a room for them, surprising them. And
- 30:35Speaker 1: I also get in the kitchen kitchen with them and
- 30:37Speaker 1: show them how to cook um some recipes and holes
- 30:40Speaker 1: and recipes for their family. So it's been a lot
- 30:42Speaker 1: of fun. So the show went from half an hour
- 30:44Speaker 1: to an hour, which gives us more time to actually
- 30:47Speaker 1: share some of the amazing stories of the cast of
- 30:50Speaker 1: the people that are on the show. Okay, as a fan,
- 30:53Speaker 1: as a producer, let me tell you what I loved
- 30:55Speaker 1: about the show. First of all, you know the show
- 30:59Speaker 1: have you crime? In the beginning, you know they set
- 31:02Speaker 1: it up by introducing you to the family, the Worthy family,
- 31:06Speaker 1: and you know that that approach is really cool because
- 31:11Speaker 1: it got me hoo reach on eight episodes well, I
- 31:14Speaker 1: guess what, you loved me. You got me hooked. You know,
- 31:20Speaker 1: you meet the family. I met the family young lady
- 31:22Speaker 1: with the cold cancer. Uh, the made the patio where
- 31:27Speaker 1: her husband was dead when they had all the all
- 31:30Speaker 1: the set up all those years they've been married forty
- 31:33Speaker 1: nine years, you know, he had died. In saw that show.
- 31:37Speaker 1: I saw the show where you know, they had the
- 31:39Speaker 1: kids and it was homeschool and they had one bathroom
- 31:42Speaker 1: and you know, the kitchen table and everything was the same.
- 31:45Speaker 1: I met the Bacon Bits, you know, I saw that show,
- 31:48Speaker 1: the Bacon Bits, and each one of these episodes, I
- 31:51Speaker 1: enjoyed it because I was engaged with the whole process.
- 31:55Speaker 1: And one of another reason I enjoyed the show, Layla,
- 31:59Speaker 1: was the fact that your your designers, I know, Jonathan's
- 32:03Speaker 1: I think is consistently on the show, but your designers
- 32:06Speaker 1: were different, and it gave I thought a good point
- 32:09Speaker 1: of view changed for you and I wasn't looking at
- 32:12Speaker 1: the same people all the time. You think that's you
- 32:14Speaker 1: think that's a key to to to to the show
- 32:17Speaker 1: as well. Yeah, I definitely think it's nice to switch
- 32:20Speaker 1: up the designers because you know, for the viewers, it
- 32:23Speaker 1: gives them something different. You don't always know exactly what
- 32:26Speaker 1: to expect. You have your few constants that you can
- 32:28Speaker 1: depend on, but then something changes, you know, along ways
- 32:31Speaker 1: for people whose homes that we're doing, and we have
- 32:33Speaker 1: two carpenters, um, Jonathan and James, and you know, so
- 32:38Speaker 1: they switched back and forth. But I think it's nice
- 32:40Speaker 1: um to have different designers with different styles as well,
- 32:45Speaker 1: you know, and master them with the right family so
- 32:46Speaker 1: they're actually happy with what they get in the end,
- 32:48Speaker 1: you know, you were. I thought it was fun because
- 32:52Speaker 1: I felt that you would never you know, not saying
- 32:54Speaker 1: you would ever get bored, but it was like there
- 32:55Speaker 1: was always a different level of communication with these different designers,
- 32:59Speaker 1: and it kept energy up, it kept your curiosity up.
- 33:02Speaker 1: And also you can said, you know, I'm sorry, I
- 33:05Speaker 1: mean to cut you off now I'm saying, oh yeah,
- 33:07Speaker 1: I was just agreeing with you, you you know. For me,
- 33:09Speaker 1: uh well, first of all, it was my first season
- 33:10Speaker 1: doing the shows. Every time we went to shoot, you know,
- 33:13Speaker 1: I said, okay, with want to be like you know,
- 33:16Speaker 1: because all the personalities are different, you know, so it
- 33:19Speaker 1: makes the show more fun for everybody, I think. And great,
- 33:22Speaker 1: now there's a couple of things about yourself, you know
- 33:25Speaker 1: in your credit. I wanted to talk about you know,
- 33:27Speaker 1: you know, being a fan of yours. I've known you
- 33:30Speaker 1: many years. You did the Parkers with me in the
- 33:31Speaker 1: episode when you was boxing, and I've always admired your
- 33:36Speaker 1: your your professionalism for one, what's always amazing. But when
- 33:39Speaker 1: I look at your resume now I was talking about
- 33:42Speaker 1: tips or management, managing your time. You want to see
- 33:45Speaker 1: the words wife, I see the mom daughter of the
- 33:48Speaker 1: greatest fitness expert, cookbook author, host of Homemade Simple. Can
- 33:54Speaker 1: we talk about you know, because this show I do
- 33:56Speaker 1: money making conversations about getting people tips to the secrets
- 33:59Speaker 1: of access and giving them their advice. When you see
- 34:02Speaker 1: a person as diverse and multilayered as you, how do
- 34:06Speaker 1: you accomplish all these things and basically stay safe? Well?
- 34:11Speaker 1: For me, um, you know, it really is about putting
- 34:14Speaker 1: your priorities in order. We'll hear that a lot because
- 34:17Speaker 1: I have a lot of things that I want to do,
- 34:19Speaker 1: and also I also have a podcast, um which I
- 34:22Speaker 1: added one more thing was called as you know, a
- 34:26Speaker 1: lot of work girl. Now you dinner? Can you get
- 34:29Speaker 1: on my show? Can you come on my show? Late
- 34:32Speaker 1: now you're dealing with trying to book guests, schedule and
- 34:36Speaker 1: you know, editing and all this stuff. So then I thought,
- 34:39Speaker 1: what what have I done? What have I done? Now?
- 34:42Speaker 1: UM added one more thing. But I think it really
- 34:44Speaker 1: comes down to putting your priority in order. And for me,
- 34:46Speaker 1: it really started with UM. And I've been doing this
- 34:50Speaker 1: was very young, writing out my goals, my short term goals,
- 34:54Speaker 1: my long term goals, and then from there mapping out
- 34:57Speaker 1: the plan and how I plan to get there. And
- 34:59Speaker 1: that gets edited and changed along the way. And you've
- 35:02Speaker 1: got to have a good team of people around because
- 35:04Speaker 1: nobody that you see and the public is doing it
- 35:07Speaker 1: all themselves because it's just simply isn't enough hours in
- 35:09Speaker 1: the day. Um, And you gotta learn how to delegate,
- 35:12Speaker 1: you know. So for me, like I said, it started
- 35:16Speaker 1: with me though, you know, figuring out because I have to.
- 35:18Speaker 1: You get a lot of offers, you get a lot
- 35:20Speaker 1: of different opportunities, and I got to say yes to everything.
- 35:23Speaker 1: You will be all over the place right all right,
- 35:25Speaker 1: to choose the things that I'm passionate about right when
- 35:28Speaker 1: the going gets tough, and when the work gets hard,
- 35:30Speaker 1: I'm passionate enough about it where I'll be willing to
- 35:33Speaker 1: do the hard work that it takes because it's not easy.
- 35:35Speaker 1: You know, it never is. No no days every easy.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Every day I wake up, it's kind of like like, oh God,
- 35:39Speaker 1: how am I gonna get everything done? You know? And
- 35:42Speaker 1: I usually don't move on to the next day. That's
- 35:44Speaker 1: just a story in my life. But um, for the
- 35:46Speaker 1: most part, like I said, just knowing what I want
- 35:48Speaker 1: to be passionate about, you know, what my goals are,
- 35:51Speaker 1: and checking in with that list, you know from time
- 35:54Speaker 1: to time because you know, sometimes you know, there can
- 35:57Speaker 1: be confusion and you could be unclear and you gotta
- 35:59Speaker 1: cut me of things out or at night things and
- 36:02Speaker 1: you know, and that's how that's how I stay balance.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Now let me ask you this. Now you added and
- 36:06Speaker 1: where did your podcast? What exactly is your podcast? We
- 36:08Speaker 1: kind of brush through that real quick. So and what
- 36:10Speaker 1: your platform is at all? Is it what My podcast
- 36:13Speaker 1: is called Layla Ali Lifestyle. It's on podcast one and
- 36:17Speaker 1: it's it's also available on iTunes. But pretty much I'm
- 36:21Speaker 1: talking about my like health, wellness, parenting. It's it's a
- 36:26Speaker 1: holistic wellness, you know, trying to just be um the
- 36:30Speaker 1: best that you could possibly be. And it's very broad,
- 36:32Speaker 1: you know. So I have a lot of just informational
- 36:35Speaker 1: and inspirational conversations. Um. And so what I say is,
- 36:39Speaker 1: I'm on my quest to be the best that I
- 36:41Speaker 1: can be. So I'm taking my listeners along with me,
- 36:44Speaker 1: so I never come off to be I'm an expert.
- 36:46Speaker 1: I know everything, you know, I'm learning along the way.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I know a lot more about certain things and the
- 36:51Speaker 1: average persons. But you know, it's just a place for
- 36:53Speaker 1: people to come and share and grow and you know,
- 36:56Speaker 1: be inspired. And that's important. And when you when you
- 36:58Speaker 1: say those things about you, because you have to have information.
- 37:01Speaker 1: The thing I liked about this whole because you have
- 37:04Speaker 1: a book coming out of a cookbook coming out in January,
- 37:07Speaker 1: and then the show, this show used to be a
- 37:10Speaker 1: half hour and naming your cookbook is food for Life.
- 37:13Speaker 1: That is that when they added the hour, was it
- 37:16Speaker 1: part of the plan to bring your cooking in And
- 37:19Speaker 1: then I'm gonna trying I'm trying to get to with
- 37:21Speaker 1: that part of the plan. They have the book come
- 37:22Speaker 1: out in January. Because you know you're a planner. I've
- 37:26Speaker 1: about you. You know your planner. You don't you'll just
- 37:28Speaker 1: run about accident. Later, you got an accidental person now
- 37:32Speaker 1: ex playing people. How you put that together? And then
- 37:35Speaker 1: when we come back from break, we're gonna talk about
- 37:36Speaker 1: the actual book. But I know you're you're a strategist,
- 37:39Speaker 1: You're a life strategists, explained people. How that worked out? Well,
- 37:43Speaker 1: I'm a strategist and my business farmer, and Alobial Garland
- 37:46Speaker 1: is a strategist. So what happened is I had already
- 37:49Speaker 1: been working on this book for a while. There you
- 37:52Speaker 1: go plan. It was already slated to come out in January,
- 37:56Speaker 1: and I took I took a step back to the
- 37:57Speaker 1: one time I was hosting my coreter the shows, and
- 38:00Speaker 1: I was like, you know, I really cannot do the
- 38:02Speaker 1: things that I want to do that I'm passionate about,
- 38:03Speaker 1: like a book, while I'm posting all these shows. So
- 38:06Speaker 1: I cut back on the TV for about eleven months
- 38:09Speaker 1: focus on getting my book done. And then when I
- 38:13Speaker 1: was done, I looked at and said, oh God, like
- 38:15Speaker 1: I need a platform, Like I'm not really you know,
- 38:18Speaker 1: how am I gonna sell this book? You know, I
- 38:19Speaker 1: need to get back on TV. And I just had
- 38:21Speaker 1: a conversation with myself and with God, and I was like, man,
- 38:23Speaker 1: bring me an opportunity and so crazy. A few days later,
- 38:27Speaker 1: I get you know, Amber called me and says, you
- 38:29Speaker 1: know that I got called a call about I possibly
- 38:32Speaker 1: doing this show, which I wasn't that familiar with, and
- 38:36Speaker 1: they actually on season on the prior seasons. Even though
- 38:39Speaker 1: the thirty minute show they had some cooking, it wasn't
- 38:43Speaker 1: always consistent. I don't think that everything looks show, I'm
- 38:45Speaker 1: not sure about that, but they had different chefs come in.
- 38:49Speaker 1: It didn't really fit, you know, they kind of pop
- 38:51Speaker 1: out of nowhere. So when they called me to do
- 38:53Speaker 1: the show, they weren't even aware that I had a
- 38:56Speaker 1: so when I was able to tell them, you know,
- 38:58Speaker 1: they already thought I'd be the perfect tone for them
- 39:00Speaker 1: exam thing able to tell them she actually cooks and
- 39:02Speaker 1: she actually has a cookbook, they were like what wow.
- 39:07Speaker 1: And then of course they gave us the opportunity, which
- 39:09Speaker 1: was amazing because it's not always that easy to get
- 39:11Speaker 1: network to let you promote your own personal stuff. Who
- 39:14Speaker 1: may actually we're willing and appreciative about you know, to um,
- 39:18Speaker 1: I'm sorry and say they were actually appreciative that I
- 39:20Speaker 1: have the book and willing to let me promote it.
- 39:23Speaker 1: So every single episodes and I'm canding my book. I
- 39:25Speaker 1: know if I do on their website saw the episode,
- 39:28Speaker 1: I already know. You know what's a business person that's like,
- 39:32Speaker 1: let's go, even come true, let's go, let's go. We
- 39:34Speaker 1: come back. We're gonna talk about that book, Food for Life.
- 39:37Speaker 1: We're talking more about homemade simple, Layla. I'm proud of you.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Thank you for doing my show. We'll be right back
- 39:43Speaker 1: talk about you know, because you know I could bake Lala.
- 39:44Speaker 1: I don't know you know about that, but your boy
- 39:46Speaker 1: is a baker award winning baker. We're gonna come back.
- 39:49Speaker 1: We'll talk about more. Rashane McDonald late the Greatest, Hi,
- 39:57Speaker 1: Rashane McDonald. I'm back on the office later, Ali. So yes,
- 40:01Speaker 1: she's all the Food for Life, which is coming out
- 40:04Speaker 1: to Bleak January. Uh, we're hitting bookstores. I'll be one
- 40:08Speaker 1: day banner from you, Layters, so I can put it
- 40:11Speaker 1: on my social media. Eight percent of my social media
- 40:14Speaker 1: followers or female, and I'm sure they will be fans
- 40:17Speaker 1: of your cooking post baking pictures all the time on
- 40:21Speaker 1: my social media, So food is a big thing on
- 40:24Speaker 1: my social media platform. So please engage yourself in my
- 40:28Speaker 1: world when that book comes out. Okay, thank you appreciate that. Yeah,
- 40:32Speaker 1: because so tell us about you know, because I've seen
- 40:34Speaker 1: you cook on the show, and uh, the thing I
- 40:37Speaker 1: like about it is that you seem like a natural,
- 40:39Speaker 1: seem like you're not stumbling around in the kitchen. You know,
- 40:41Speaker 1: some people can just get out, you know, saying you
- 40:43Speaker 1: see some of these shows, go you know, you're just
- 40:45Speaker 1: doing this show because they gave you the job. You got. Look,
- 40:48Speaker 1: you can cook now, you can store out cook because
- 40:51Speaker 1: you know you do. You know you're throwing some salt
- 40:52Speaker 1: in there, so you know you you want to. People
- 40:54Speaker 1: don't menasure everything. You just know by Field that's a cook,
- 40:57Speaker 1: you know that, right. Yeah. Well the thing is I've
- 41:01Speaker 1: been cooking since songs about nine. Yeah, you're kind of
- 41:07Speaker 1: comfortable in the kitchen, you know when you've been cooking
- 41:10Speaker 1: for that many years. So, yes, definitely that's why I
- 41:12Speaker 1: was able to go on Shooting Network on Chopped and
- 41:15Speaker 1: win a couple of times and all that because trust me,
- 41:17Speaker 1: with the pressure that's on you when you're cooking in
- 41:19Speaker 1: the cooking competition serious two times, know how to go,
- 41:22Speaker 1: don't don't don't. Don't. Don't. Let's blow past that so quick.
- 41:25Speaker 1: You're a celebrity champ twice, okay, And I know about
- 41:29Speaker 1: the own competition, so that's not an easy show to win,
- 41:32Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Because they put a lot
- 41:34Speaker 1: of impromptu things, and they also asked you to get
- 41:36Speaker 1: out of your comfort zone on certain certain certain episodes
- 41:39Speaker 1: of cooking things like that you have to and you
- 41:42Speaker 1: pulled it off twice and that and I definitely out
- 41:44Speaker 1: of your comfort zone because you don't know what your
- 41:46Speaker 1: rest with your ingredients are and you're not in your
- 41:49Speaker 1: own kitchen, and then there's only a certain amount of
- 41:51Speaker 1: certain items, so you might have something all planned out
- 41:53Speaker 1: and then somebody else took something your need and you
- 41:56Speaker 1: know you gotta do it. You start over that alone.
- 41:59Speaker 1: It's very mental a lot of people. You gotta be
- 42:01Speaker 1: mentally strong, can't. You can't just know how to cook
- 42:03Speaker 1: because all kind of sort of things happen. You know
- 42:05Speaker 1: that'll throw you off. But it was a lot of fun.
- 42:08Speaker 1: But yeah, I've been cooking for for a long time
- 42:11Speaker 1: and the thing is that my cooking has changed over
- 42:13Speaker 1: the years, and I think just being an athlete, being
- 42:16Speaker 1: a mom and knowing what I know about nutrition, Um,
- 42:20Speaker 1: I try to take the foods that I love and
- 42:22Speaker 1: other people love and make them healthier. Um, so it's
- 42:26Speaker 1: not always you know, chuck me. It's easy. It's easy
- 42:30Speaker 1: to just cook with a bunch of butter and a
- 42:31Speaker 1: bunch of just putting whatever you want the food and
- 42:33Speaker 1: make it taste, you know. So you know you got
- 42:36Speaker 1: to compare well, you know, because you bake, but that
- 42:40Speaker 1: different My blood pressure king right here? Girl? Oh lord?
- 42:45Speaker 1: You know the thing is I don't bake. That's one
- 42:47Speaker 1: thing because baking, as you know, is a real science
- 42:50Speaker 1: to it, and you gotta have your measurements right and
- 42:53Speaker 1: that kind of thing. And I taught myself how to cook,
- 42:56Speaker 1: so baking, I mean, you could teach yourself how to bake,
- 42:58Speaker 1: but it's much easier when you have somebody to show
- 43:00Speaker 1: you some some basics, some basic But yeah, I never
- 43:05Speaker 1: and thank god, I don't know how to bake because
- 43:06Speaker 1: I love big goods. So if I knew how to bake, boy,
- 43:09Speaker 1: I would just be about seven the pounds. Well you know,
- 43:12Speaker 1: the brother just tell you. So you know, even like
- 43:15Speaker 1: you said, like I use non salt butter, Okay, No,
- 43:18Speaker 1: salt butter. I used two percent milk, so you know,
- 43:22Speaker 1: I tried to put that, but it doesn't even change
- 43:25Speaker 1: the taste of the food, you know what I'm saying.
- 43:27Speaker 1: So so so when I hear you joked, I joked earlier,
- 43:30Speaker 1: but I also understand what you're saying is that you
- 43:33Speaker 1: can bake tradition. You can. You know you can. You can.
- 43:35Speaker 1: You have to ride out that that you know that
- 43:37Speaker 1: old You're gonna die when you forty recipes, you know
- 43:40Speaker 1: what I'm saying, because of the fact that you just
- 43:42Speaker 1: piling that greasy and putting that LRD in that and
- 43:45Speaker 1: that and that in the greens and all that stuff.
- 43:48Speaker 1: So when you say make it a little bit healthier,
- 43:51Speaker 1: like I just gave a couple of examples of two milk,
- 43:54Speaker 1: I gave a couple of examples of no salt butter.
- 43:57Speaker 1: What example of moving your your recipes to a healthier
- 44:00Speaker 1: foremat but still maintaining the goodness of it and food
- 44:03Speaker 1: for Yeah, what I normally do is it's just there's
- 44:07Speaker 1: just some basic items that are just um things that
- 44:11Speaker 1: I would stock to pantry with. So I have healthier
- 44:14Speaker 1: oils that I would cook with. So coconut oil, avocado oil,
- 44:18Speaker 1: grape seed oil. Um, there's so many different oils that
- 44:22Speaker 1: you can cook with a high temperature. You can bake
- 44:24Speaker 1: with them. You know, Coconut oil has a very distinct flavor,
- 44:27Speaker 1: so it does change the flavor of certain things, so
- 44:30Speaker 1: some people would not want it. But depending on what
- 44:32Speaker 1: you're using for your spices or your seasoning, you can
- 44:34Speaker 1: cover it up and ask it really well. But just
- 44:37Speaker 1: things like that, Um, different flowers, you know, life flower,
- 44:40Speaker 1: almond flower, coconut flour, you know, Kenois flour, and then
- 44:44Speaker 1: in theo's ways that you can mix them where you
- 44:45Speaker 1: can really um, you know, get the textures that you need.
- 44:49Speaker 1: I add, I do a lot of attitudes like my
- 44:51Speaker 1: kids meals for example, like I'm making spaghetti, um, you know,
- 44:54Speaker 1: and I'm if I and I if I have you know,
- 44:56Speaker 1: I don't have a lot of time. I'm not always
- 44:57Speaker 1: gonna just make my soft fresh. But I can get
- 45:00Speaker 1: a really good organic sauce and then I can take
- 45:02Speaker 1: vegetables and roast them really quickly, and then I blend
- 45:06Speaker 1: them in my blender and then put them into the
- 45:08Speaker 1: sauce so that the sauce actually has a lot more
- 45:11Speaker 1: fresh vegetables in it. And I'm talking about like zucchini,
- 45:14Speaker 1: you know, you're on your cellery, your garlic, all these
- 45:16Speaker 1: things that you know, kids aren't gonna eat. A lot
- 45:18Speaker 1: of they meet the nutrition from it. I don't even
- 45:20Speaker 1: take ground flax seed and put it in things that
- 45:24Speaker 1: I do bake and put it in like you can.
- 45:27Speaker 1: You can put that in your taco meat. They want
- 45:28Speaker 1: it to growth undetected, just to have that extra fiber
- 45:31Speaker 1: to keep us using the bathroom like we need to,
- 45:34Speaker 1: so we don't right right. And then I just stay
- 45:41Speaker 1: away from, you know, if I'm making mac and cheese,
- 45:44Speaker 1: even though I know some people like to add, you know,
- 45:47Speaker 1: a can of cheese, soup or things like that, I
- 45:50Speaker 1: try to stay away from, you know, adding canned items
- 45:53Speaker 1: and things with a lot of preservatives in the um.
- 45:56Speaker 1: So that's all just kind of bringing it back down
- 45:59Speaker 1: to the basic and focusing on cooking whole foods. And
- 46:02Speaker 1: you know, but like I said, even something as simple
- 46:04Speaker 1: as the oils, because a lot of time people don't
- 46:07Speaker 1: realize the oils will clog up, you know. And that's
- 46:10Speaker 1: very true. And I think that when I look at
- 46:11Speaker 1: your book, as she's on the cover, is a beautiful picture.
- 46:14Speaker 1: She's wearing white. Food for Life is on the top.
- 46:16Speaker 1: The book comes out of January twenty three. January twenty
- 46:20Speaker 1: they write that down. The book comes out, and so
- 46:23Speaker 1: can they pre order the book now later? Yeah? The book, Yeah,
- 46:26Speaker 1: it is available for pre sales, so people can order
- 46:28Speaker 1: it now, but they're not gonna get it until the
- 46:30Speaker 1: twenty three. And how would they go about? What? What? What? What?
- 46:33Speaker 1: What would they go Amazon? Go to Amazon, go to
- 46:36Speaker 1: Barnes and Noble, and then you just place your order
- 46:38Speaker 1: and then it will it'll let you know. And I'm
- 46:40Speaker 1: going to be still I'm putting together a pre sale
- 46:43Speaker 1: and centers. Okay, people who ordered the book they want
- 46:46Speaker 1: to send, they'll be sending in their poots to purchase
- 46:49Speaker 1: and I'm gonna provide all the information and I'm gonna
- 46:50Speaker 1: give them my plan that I'm putting together right now,
- 46:53Speaker 1: which is going to be like a seven day you know,
- 46:56Speaker 1: we book. You are a flad a look after the holidays,
- 47:04Speaker 1: everybody is ready to get back in order. You're gonna get,
- 47:08Speaker 1: including myself, resolutions come out. The book to be at
- 47:12Speaker 1: the top of the line with your resolutions. Now, with
- 47:14Speaker 1: that being said again, when when you get that plan together,
- 47:18Speaker 1: reach it. Tell your PR people, reach out to my
- 47:20Speaker 1: PR people so I can support you to my social
- 47:22Speaker 1: media because I know you know your strategist and you
- 47:25Speaker 1: don't win by last minute activity. And you noticed the
- 47:28Speaker 1: person year. This is when you're gonna grab people. When
- 47:30Speaker 1: people looking for that that opportunity to get their life right.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Why not Layla? Why not meat? Why a bo my
- 47:36Speaker 1: food for life? Come on over here, let me help
- 47:38Speaker 1: you out. So let me be, let me, let me
- 47:39Speaker 1: champ in your cars on that. Okay, I will definitely
- 47:43Speaker 1: will appreciate that. No problem I wanted. We're gonna wrap
- 47:46Speaker 1: this up right quick. I want to let everybody know.
- 47:49Speaker 1: On the phone. Laila Lee, she's the host of Homemade
- 47:52Speaker 1: Central Simple. Homemade Simple is on their own. That's the
- 47:56Speaker 1: Oprah one for network. It comes on Saturday nine am.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Chall Girl Out is a great show. I've watched eight
- 48:02Speaker 1: episodes this weekend. I binged eight episodes. It's it's just
- 48:06Speaker 1: the opening the show when they described the families is
- 48:09Speaker 1: so engaging. And then when Layla shows up with the
- 48:12Speaker 1: with the carpenter and the designer is sold and they
- 48:15Speaker 1: just walked through the whole process because the designer has
- 48:18Speaker 1: already met with them, so she kind of filling in
- 48:21Speaker 1: Layla on the experience before Layla gets there's really a
- 48:24Speaker 1: cool set up. And as a producer, I went, this
- 48:27Speaker 1: is awesome. And then January just a new book out,
- 48:30Speaker 1: a cookbook because she won't chop celebrity chop twice twice,

- 50:15Speaker 1: this loop? Because this is a bottle money being made
- 50:17Speaker 1: over there and everything has been cashed and carried. How
- 50:20Speaker 1: were you able to get into this area? You got
- 50:23Speaker 1: a lot of questions last, but I want to get
- 50:24Speaker 1: that qution off the top. Explain to everyone because you
- 50:27Speaker 1: have some companies that are some some states like Colorado
- 50:31Speaker 1: that that that have passed America Medical with marijuana. California's
- 50:35Speaker 1: another state, and then some states that you can't do it.
- 50:38Speaker 1: And then you have some athletes if they take it,
- 50:40Speaker 1: they get bad from the league if they smoke marijuana.
- 50:43Speaker 1: So you're navigating a real tricky course out there. But
- 50:47Speaker 1: you're in Nevada. You have a medical marijuana farm. Explain
- 50:51Speaker 1: to people what exactly is that when you say a
- 50:53Speaker 1: medical marijuana farm. So so, um, first of all, thank
- 50:57Speaker 1: you for having me on the show. Than you're working
- 50:59Speaker 1: as a on to be on here, and and uh
- 51:02Speaker 1: we we we basically filled out the paperwork. Man, we
- 51:05Speaker 1: want afraid. I mean, they make it seem like it's
- 51:07Speaker 1: so um, such a big task, and and and don't
- 51:11Speaker 1: get me wrong, it was. But but we filled out
- 51:13Speaker 1: the paperwork, We had the capital, the funding to do
- 51:15Speaker 1: it ourselves, and we and we went ahead and put
- 51:18Speaker 1: it in And and don't be surprised in the next
- 51:21Speaker 1: three to five years that all fifty states are are
- 51:24Speaker 1: going on that route. I mean, obviously it's a financial
- 51:27Speaker 1: money maker for the states and the counties and and
- 51:30Speaker 1: and we're doing well in Las Vegas so far, in
- 51:32Speaker 1: the in the state of Nevada, so far awesome. I
- 51:34Speaker 1: know that and I'm gonna just tell you Larry's a
- 51:38Speaker 1: humble guy when he makes this statement, because it is
- 51:40Speaker 1: hard because like three years ago, I was approached about
- 51:45Speaker 1: investing in American medical marijuana process, but Chot pushed me
- 51:51Speaker 1: away of the fact that you know, banks weren't accepting
- 51:53Speaker 1: your money and where you have to make the transactions.
- 51:56Speaker 1: And it may have changed since then. You can educate
- 51:58Speaker 1: me because at the time, you know, banks weren't accepting
- 52:01Speaker 1: the money. But if you still don't accept it, okay, cool.
- 52:04Speaker 1: And so when you made when you went and purchase
- 52:06Speaker 1: the marijuana, you had to do it in cash, you know,
- 52:09Speaker 1: And so you have to have bodyguards with you to
- 52:11Speaker 1: protect you because you got all these large sums of
- 52:13Speaker 1: money with you. And I was I just felt uncomfortable
- 52:16Speaker 1: with that. So with a lifestyle like that, what how
- 52:20Speaker 1: how how are you comfortable with that lifestyle with those rules?
- 52:23Speaker 1: I feel so severe even though people making money off
- 52:26Speaker 1: of it. Well, you know, it's one of those things
- 52:30Speaker 1: that like, uh, you know, there's certain things that you
- 52:32Speaker 1: just have to be very private about. So we don't
- 52:34Speaker 1: we don't carry we don't carry cash on us obviously. Um,
- 52:37Speaker 1: and we have a security team I actually hired. The
- 52:40Speaker 1: irony about that is that I hired ex Metro police officer,
- 52:44Speaker 1: that's right, and he's Wide officers and they kind of
- 52:47Speaker 1: they take care of that for us. But so it's
- 52:49Speaker 1: a very that's a you know, just like kind of
- 52:51Speaker 1: any other company in a certain way, the certain things
- 52:53Speaker 1: you don't want people to know about. So we just
- 52:55Speaker 1: keep we we keep that portion of it very private.
- 52:57Speaker 1: On what we do with the funds um. Listen, you
- 53:01Speaker 1: know that's once again there's a big stigma. Like listen,
- 53:03Speaker 1: cash is um. You know, you can spend your cashes,
- 53:06Speaker 1: but the moment be cashing the banks, the banks stopnot
- 53:13Speaker 1: your cap okay, don't get you know, but but you
- 53:17Speaker 1: know the banks um, obviously they have an issue with it. Now. Um,
- 53:20Speaker 1: there's a lot of banks to say, you know that
- 53:21Speaker 1: they'll take it and then they then they close you
- 53:23Speaker 1: down once you once they realize what's going on. But
- 53:26Speaker 1: you know that that's the headache part about this business
- 53:28Speaker 1: is that you know that the that you know how
- 53:30Speaker 1: to pay your bills. But listen, we go in the
- 53:32Speaker 1: Envy Energy and if the bill is seven thousand, we
- 53:35Speaker 1: you know, we might take them seven thousand cash and
- 53:38Speaker 1: they take it. That's the fun part. And the other
- 53:40Speaker 1: irony invited this, and we gonna pay our taxes. We
- 53:43Speaker 1: have to take that to the I R S and
- 53:45Speaker 1: they take it cash. And when I've seen you know,
- 53:48Speaker 1: I'm just getting started up, but I've seen companies going
- 53:50Speaker 1: there with you know, half a million dollars in tax
- 53:53Speaker 1: and you can take it. And that's an amazing part
- 53:55Speaker 1: of your business. Because I commend you because there's a
- 53:58Speaker 1: certain amount of strength and courage because first of all,
- 54:02Speaker 1: not everybody is allowed to get into the game, and
- 54:04Speaker 1: when you get out of the game, you know, that's
- 54:06Speaker 1: a certain way you have to do business, and you
- 54:08Speaker 1: have to be willing to do the business. And that
- 54:10Speaker 1: literally to my first question, tell us about your entrepreneur journey,
- 54:14Speaker 1: you know, to where you're at right now, because there's
- 54:17Speaker 1: a lot of stuffs of courage they got you here.
- 54:20Speaker 1: Just just break down some of the barras that you've
- 54:22Speaker 1: had to break down over the years to be able
- 54:24Speaker 1: to say, hey, I'm one of the few right now,
- 54:27Speaker 1: one of the first right now. So so, you know,
- 54:30Speaker 1: being in Nevada, um, you know, it's it's uh, it's
- 54:34Speaker 1: a very interesting state. Um. You know, you know, you
- 54:37Speaker 1: look back at the mob days, everyone thinks that the mob,
- 54:40Speaker 1: you know, they were in they ran the uh the casinos,
- 54:42Speaker 1: which which back into day they did that control. But
- 54:45Speaker 1: there were some other people that I felt like really
- 54:47Speaker 1: were in the the mobl I feel like, well, that's
- 54:50Speaker 1: the Mormon's right in the mob. Let me you know
- 54:51Speaker 1: the casinos back in the day. It's kind of interesting
- 54:54Speaker 1: how Nevada's um shape um I was kind of taking force.
- 54:57Speaker 1: But for me, I started off my entree entree spit
- 55:00Speaker 1: very young. I was sixteen years old. I was betting.
- 55:03Speaker 1: I was betting sports a sixteen. That was That's the
- 55:05Speaker 1: funny thing about I was. I was literally going at lunchtime.
- 55:09Speaker 1: I asked some friends, who's who's uh whose father was
- 55:12Speaker 1: a professional gambler. So I got somehow I got attached
- 55:15Speaker 1: to them, and I would leave at lunch and I
- 55:16Speaker 1: wouldna make sports bets and you know, people arriving with
- 55:19Speaker 1: your gambling, and I'm like, well, you know, the way
- 55:21Speaker 1: I looked at it is I switched everything up and I, um,
- 55:25Speaker 1: I took my It wasn't gambling to me, it was
- 55:27Speaker 1: it was a business for me. I mean literally, I
- 55:29Speaker 1: bought my first car from betting sports UM and I
- 55:33Speaker 1: went on to create UM. You know, I'm considered probably
- 55:36Speaker 1: one of the best UM sports UM handicappers in baseball,
- 55:40Speaker 1: probably in the country. And I did that just by
- 55:43Speaker 1: by instead of taking the looking at this gambling, I
- 55:46Speaker 1: created a business for it. So for example, I would
- 55:48Speaker 1: I would start my betting on Monday, and if I
- 55:51Speaker 1: started with ten thousand on Monday, by the time Sunday
- 55:54Speaker 1: reached all the games that I betted, if I had
- 55:56Speaker 1: twelve thousand dollars, I made two thousand dollars for the week.
- 55:59Speaker 1: And in this a little overhead UM and and you
- 56:02Speaker 1: know a lot of people take, oh your gambling, you're
- 56:04Speaker 1: getting But people gamble every day and don't even realize
- 56:06Speaker 1: what they're doing. Like I'm looking at people like in
- 56:08Speaker 1: bitcoin right now and they're putting their money in and
- 56:11Speaker 1: they don't know where it's going. There, let's slow down
- 56:15Speaker 1: many coin. I'm still trying to figure out what people
- 56:19Speaker 1: investing in. Yeah, I don't even know the same here.
- 56:23Speaker 1: I don't know what it is. It's a it's an
- 56:24Speaker 1: imaginary currency, right, Yeah, absolutely, I put it in really quick.
- 56:29Speaker 1: I made a couple I was I got rotson now
- 56:31Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on where whereas I know
- 56:35Speaker 1: what the Chicago Bulls are gonna look like tonight, right,
- 56:37Speaker 1: all right, right, I have an idea how they're gonna
- 56:39Speaker 1: be coached. You have an idea how to rate. I mean,
- 56:41Speaker 1: so so people look at things and they know you're gambling.
- 56:43Speaker 1: But if you structure it right, then then then you
- 56:46Speaker 1: can create a business for yourself. Because really, really that's
- 56:49Speaker 1: gonna be honest with you, like you're talking. You pay
- 56:51Speaker 1: taxes because you are business correct and a lot of
- 56:54Speaker 1: people act treat their stigma like if you're a gambler,
- 56:57Speaker 1: that's something bad. But that's the business. And that's why
- 57:00Speaker 1: wanted you to talk about your entrepreneurship journey because a
- 57:03Speaker 1: lot of things that people do their are non traditional
- 57:06Speaker 1: and that's a non traditional way to make a living.
- 57:09Speaker 1: But the governors, the government still sitting there, they're gonna
- 57:11Speaker 1: wear my money where my money right my absolutely, and
- 57:14Speaker 1: you don't, if you don't pay, they're gonna shut you down. Absolutely.
- 57:17Speaker 1: With sports betting is a lot different than than I'm like, like,
- 57:20Speaker 1: I don't play like craps a black jazz. Sports betting
- 57:24Speaker 1: is a little bit, a little bit differently. Well, we're trying. Yeah,
- 57:26Speaker 1: I guess I would say sports betting is is. Um,
- 57:29Speaker 1: they make a lot of money off of every year,
- 57:31Speaker 1: and it's one of those things just um, it's uh,
- 57:34Speaker 1: it's taxed. I mean, you know. And when I started
- 57:36Speaker 1: doing was I started taking my winnings and I started
- 57:39Speaker 1: buying houses in my old neighborhood, and I started rebuilding
- 57:42Speaker 1: my neighborhood. So so we would take the winnings from
- 57:44Speaker 1: that and and go buy a house in the neighborhood,
- 57:47Speaker 1: fix it up, put somebody back in there who used
- 57:49Speaker 1: to live in the neighborhood and back in the neighborhood.
- 57:51Speaker 1: So we started, thank you. So we started, you know,
- 57:53Speaker 1: we started doing it that way. So that way we
- 57:55Speaker 1: don't lose the money back. We don't just waste the money.
- 57:58Speaker 1: We're doing something with the money. As Dame Dash was saying,
- 58:01Speaker 1: names with my partners in the cultivation, we we we
- 58:03Speaker 1: basically flipped. We basically take it from one thing and
- 58:05Speaker 1: investing something else. There's something that's something and especially in
- 58:09Speaker 1: our neighborhoods, we wanted to we want to really clean
- 58:11Speaker 1: up our neighborhoods and make our neighborhoods um um. Great again.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Now with that being said, you know, I love the
- 58:18Speaker 1: fact that you first of all, you started a six team,
- 58:20Speaker 1: So that was a there was a there was a
- 58:22Speaker 1: seed in you where who planted that seed in you
- 58:24Speaker 1: to have that empowering ability to say I can do this.
- 58:28Speaker 1: I'm a unique because that that's an important to start
- 58:31Speaker 1: at that young age. Who who pointed you in the
- 58:33Speaker 1: right direction. I'll be honest with you, it was the
- 58:35Speaker 1: brothers on the corner because I didn't want to go
- 58:38Speaker 1: on the corner. I was like, I gotta do something different.
- 58:40Speaker 1: I always wanted to do something. I saw the reaper.
- 58:43Speaker 1: I mean I saw people starting off on the block,
- 58:46Speaker 1: hustling and and and for me, it was like, you
- 58:48Speaker 1: know what, that's a dead end street. Actually it's a
- 58:51Speaker 1: dead end like you just did. Even the early Yeah,
- 58:56Speaker 1: you start you start seeing these guys. They looked there
- 58:58Speaker 1: for a minute and then before you what what was he?
- 59:00Speaker 1: Oh he got locked up. Oh he died. You know.
- 59:03Speaker 1: So I was like, I don't want to that. That's
- 59:04Speaker 1: that's like a no win situation for me. And um
- 59:07Speaker 1: I um, I just I went into the sports book
- 59:10Speaker 1: one they with my brothers and they and they were betting,
- 59:12Speaker 1: and I didn't know what. I don't know what's going on.
- 59:14Speaker 1: So I was, you know, I was playing basketball at
- 59:16Speaker 1: the time, high school basketball, and I lived up and
- 59:18Speaker 1: I was like, man, the bulls are gonna destroy dinner
- 59:21Speaker 1: the night. And he was like what And so I
- 59:23Speaker 1: he bet it and the bulls end up restoring that night,
- 59:26Speaker 1: and so like he was like, man, you know, you
- 59:27Speaker 1: did pretty good. I said, you end up winning the ticket.
- 59:29Speaker 1: And so the next day I went with him again
- 59:31Speaker 1: and I started picking just little little subtle things that
- 59:34Speaker 1: I thought were wrong that they put up there. And
- 59:36Speaker 1: and really sports betting, and that's kind of what that is.
- 59:38Speaker 1: It's it's really your opinion versus someone else's. And if
- 59:41Speaker 1: you do enough research, like I said, you treated as
- 59:44Speaker 1: a business and not entertainment. That's the that's the problem
- 59:46Speaker 1: that most people do. They treat as entertainment and not business.
- 59:49Speaker 1: But it's a bit. It's it's the black man's stock market,
- 59:53Speaker 1: that's that's the way. Laugh. So but you seem to
- 59:56Speaker 1: have a natural instinct for making a decision, and that's
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: what Betty is too, or being able to make a
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: decision and and then not regret that decision. That you
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: make and so so when you when you went into
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: the cannabis business, the America medical marijuana business, Okay, that
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: had to be a decision had to be made. Now
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: you made the decision to get into it, what are
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: some of the early roadblock that you didn't encounter? Have
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: kind of like went, man, you gotta be kidding me. Well,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: you know, we've always felt shouting ourselves, signing myself, signs
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: of my partner. We always felt like there's always been
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: a um you know, when you walk in the room,
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: there's three hundred people in the room and you're one
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: of probably three or four African Americans in the room.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: We've always felt there's been like roadblocks to put in place.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: First of all, the first roadblock that they put up
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: was the two hundred fifty dollar liquid assets that you
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: had to have. Remember that, I think, and I think
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: a lot of people what African Americans, well, we need
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: to figure out what we need to understand. This is
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: that that you know, they made it seem like you
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: personally had to have that and that wasn't the case. Um,
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: And what happens is that we as African Americans need
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: to pull our money together for that two and get
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: in and not be afraid. I mean, but you know,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: we've been smacked around so much in in in in
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: in the marijuana business period that um that the we're
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: so timid and shy, and I think that and that's
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: why you see them stepping up and we're not. They
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: don't get harassed like we do. So so so the
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: biggest hurdles for us have been excuse, we we put
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: up our own building, We designed it, we built it
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: from scratch, and our only biggest hurdle we have was
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: the power company. That was that. Everything else has been
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: smooth sailing. Um. You know, we've represented the state of
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: Nevada very well. Um obviously, you know, we we feel
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: like we represent the urban black youth of American We
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: wanted to show people that we can come in and
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: do this on a very professional level and that you know,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: we're not You're not going to be the ones that
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: are investigating us, or we're not gonna be selling pounds
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: out the back door. I mean, I mean, you know,
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: you know, I'm very proud to say like in our
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: in our building um of seventy six buildings, we had
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: a zero demerit um one of four companies that get
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: zero demerits meeting they didn't find anything wrong with our
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: building and and and I'm I'm proud of those type
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: of things because you know, I know they expect us
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: to come in to do something goofy to because Americans,
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: you know, that's absolutely, they get the information for seeing in.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: They get the information absolute, you know, absolutely, And you
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: know it's always the darker message. You know that, absolutely.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: You know it's just like, but we but we understand
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: we represent something bigger. We understand I understand that I
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: represent you. So when I go on my meetings, I mean,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: you may not be there with me, but I represent
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: I love that. I love that because you understand. You know,
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: if a black person see some another person on the news,
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: I might as well have shot that person too. And
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: you understand that's roll that you play in life and
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: being successful especialists, very uh intense business that you And
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: we've been right back with more. Larry Smith loving this conversation.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: Not in Nevada because I kind of loves Vegas all
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: the time. So are you near Los Vegas? Larry? Oh no, no,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: we right, we did. We We smacked that in the city. Okay, cool,
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: come with us. You will see me next time, I
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: said at the Skylak when I come to town. Were
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: right hap more Larry Smith talking about his career as
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: a visionary and the man makes a decision, he sticks
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: by it. I wanted to talk about that to my
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: listeners because a lot of times we make decisions and
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: we regret it. You can't regret something that was good
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: for your life just because he didn't turn out. I'll
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: be right back with more money Making Conversation with Larry
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: Hides for Sean McDonald. I'm the host of Money Making
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: Conversation on the phone. I got my man Larry Smith.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: He's the first ever African American licensed in medical marijuana
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: cultivation phe and Clark County, Nevada. How you doing, Larry?
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: How are you? I'm gonna find my friend Larry. Before
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: I left, I wanted to uh talk about decisions and
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: I noted that your personality, I feel reason you're successful
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: because you're willing to make a decision and stick by it.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: And a lot of people don't know how to do that.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: Can you tell them, um the value and U and
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: making that decision and then sticking to it. You know,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: it goes back to the to the to the sports
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: betting for me and and and you know when you
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: when you're making a bet, it's a risk. So so
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: so you learned really quick in sports betting that that
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: those risks you make them quick, and you live by
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: them and you die by them. And so I think
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: the sports betting truly has helped me in business because, um,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: I don't If I have a great feeling about something
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: or an intuition, I roll with it and whether I
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: want to lose, listen, I don't have any regrets about it.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: Um I take the shot. I would. I would much
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: rather take the shot than not to take the shot
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: and to look up and go two years later, goo, man,
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: I should have did that, sir, you know, and that's
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: when you know win to lose. I mean, you gotta
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: take the shot. I mean, you can't win if you don't.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: If you don't, if you don't shoot, you know, you
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: don't shoot. Now, use the word intuition. You know a
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: lot of people use worth faith going out on you know,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: I use word intuition. When when I hear the word intuition,
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: it seems like it's more to it than jest, just
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: a just a just Uh's instinct. It means that you're
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: you're putting together You're put together a series of information
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: that you pulled together a real quick and go. You know,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: somebody feel this is the right decision to make that
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: that that's that's really important And how did you gain
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: that skill set? Because your intuition is tied to instinctive
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: information that you know how to pull together to make
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: that decision for the moment. Like you said, a lot
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: of people, you know, they take people days to make decisions.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: It seems to me like it comes together rather quickly
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: for you. You know, what I'll do is, um, you
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: know a lot of times when people bring certain things
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: to me, I'll sleep on it and then I'll go
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: from that perspective. But intuition, I mean, you know, once
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: again we go back to being on the block. So
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: when I was younger, you know, you you you you know,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: I would go sit in the corner and there would
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: be something you know, it's just something not right about.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: Let's let me get out of here, right, you know.
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: And you know I always tell people you gotta listen
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: to that, and a lot of people don't listen to that.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Name leave the corner and you find out a man
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: that came over there and they shot. You know, you're like, okay,
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: we'll up on the second here. Like I was just there,
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: something told me to leave. How many dogs barking over there?
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: Why them dogs talking over there? Why then't barking to day?
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: Okay exactly. Yeah. So it's one of those things that
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: it's just listening to your in the self. I mean,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: I always say that when you close your eyes and
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: you listen to, the soul knows that it's being aligned
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: to and I and I feel I feel like that
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: a lot of times that like we don't look, we
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: don't trust ourselves. And that's another thing in in African
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: American culture, in business, we don't trust ourselves. Prime example
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: that is when um, when we started, they were trying
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: to go to Colorado. These guys are experts in this.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Why my partner, Sean, he's a you electrician, very smart brother,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: graduated top of his class, and here we are listening
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: to them when he had the answers. And that's sometimes
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: that and something kept telling me we don't need to
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: listen to them. We can do this ourselves. We don't
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: there's no need. We need to have a little bit
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: more faith you that we're faith in ourselves. We need
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: to trust in ourselves and believe in ourselves, and and
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: and and go win and lose, take the shot. But
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: the great thing about you, this is what I love
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: about you. You you you don't you don't deny the
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: natural instincts of street survival that you have been brought
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: up into. You know, I come from an inner city.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: I'm very familiar with what you're talking about. And so,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: but did you educated yourself in college? You have a degree? Okay,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: so so you respect the process of higher education or
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: extended education. And then but you don't deny you the
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: decision has to come through you. Now, would that being said, exactly,
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: how does the process of running American medical marijuana farm?
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: How does that get to the customer? How does that?
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: How do you buy stuff from you? How do you
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: get stuff get distributed by you? Can you explain that
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: process to my listeners? Yeah? So what happens is that
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: we actually take the cannabis and we grow it in
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: our facility, sir. And then what we what we do
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: is then we then we then we package everything up
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: in our facility. It goes through an extensive testing process
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: here in nevadom and then we take that, we take
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: that and then we sell it directly to the dispensaries
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: and the whole cell price and they go ahead and
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: sell it to the retail level. So so we we
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: can't sell it to anybody off the street. We have
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: to literally sell it to license dispensaries here in the
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: states of Nevada. Okay. So so when people have people
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: on my Facebook problem, we're gonna ride by that and
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: see Larry right right, ride by that and get shot.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: That's what you go out, all right, So you know,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: we just sell it directly to a dispensary. Okay. So
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: so that's how the process works. Now you now when
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: you were saying that, because it's really interesting and and
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: and the and the so, so you're your your process
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: and you grow it your processes. Then it's tested to
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: make sure it meets the standard, and then it's distributed.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: Now do you have to get on the Can you
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: sell outside the state of Nevada? Are you just limited
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: to sell it and inside the state of Nevada? No? No,
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: I don't want to see Jeff Sessions. So anytime you sell,
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: if you've got me crost line, that's trafficking at that point,
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: so we can't sell. We can't sell. Um, you won't
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: catch me on the news. You're not gonna catch I
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: love that. I don't know who listen to this radio show?
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: All right, yo yo ya yoya, No, no trafficking. Everything
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: is done within the state. We have to stay within
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: the state of Nevada. As long as I stay within
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: the state, that then we can And as long as
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: they're a legal dispensary, UM, then then um that we
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: can sell. And then for us, our next step is
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: to go ahead and apply for the license to get
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: a dispensary, and then that way we're vertically integrated. We
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: can sell it to ourselves. And in that way, it's
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: another way for us to be able to not be
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: knocked out of the game, because I still feel like
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: they're still trying to keep it a good old boys network.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: Is it's it's it's like all it's like r like
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: you said, it's like oil, you know, you know, dude,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: that's when you can when you can control, you know,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: the all prices, and eventually you'll be able to control.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Like you said, this is gonna be nationwide. And when
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: that happens, they're gonna be controlling the prices. So that's
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: what I'm proud of the fact that you're able to
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: get in and start your battle now because they at all,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: they're not letting anybody in. They're not letting anybody in.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: It's just like we encourage the African Americans to man, man, listen,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: pull your money together in your states, get your groups together,
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: because that's all they did. I mean, these guys they
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: got groups together. They didn't somebody I know, some of
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: the guys here in Vegas who who literally were asking
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: me for money two months before, and I'm like, well,
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: hold on, how did he? How did he? How did
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: that happen? And you look up, he's in the group.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: He's in a group of ten guys who one guy
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: put in seventy five, another guy put in one, and
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: then before you know, they got there to fifty. And
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: that way they can start the process. So, I mean,
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: we have to stop being afraid. We have to trust
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: each other, pull our money together and and and get
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: this stuff. This is something that we're really good at anyway,
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: you know. And for there to come in and you know,
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: for us for them to come in and and to
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: dominate like they're doing. It's very discouraging. But the one
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: thing I can tell you is that we're not going
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: to let them o hustlers, especially you know, especially on
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: on on this subject matter. I mean, it's something that
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: the African Americans have done. We've been aroused for it,
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: We've been we've been put through the ringers for um.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: I don't know if you saw the article yesterday with
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: they the Georgia players, they had um less than a penny.
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: It was the size of a penny and they took
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: them to jail for it. So it has to stop them,
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: and we got to figure out how to get into
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: this control is a lot better. Let's talk about the strains,
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: you know, like the strains okay, and theeds a different
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: versions of your product, correct, yes, okay, So yeah, so
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: it's blain to people. So I'm just trying to educate them.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: And I'm about this because I was so excited to
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: get you on this interview because there's always been a curiosity.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: But I know that let people know this is a
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: normal business. That that's why I want to break it
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: down to this is a business. This is like selling
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: just going down and selling cookies, open a bakery or
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: opening a brandchside open the mechanics that you just having
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: to open up a cannabis medical marijuana. Uh, that's that's right.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: So so the strains are Um, every strain is different.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: And once you get into it, and I wasn't into
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: it before until you know, my partner came to me
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: and and broke everything down and I start doing the
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: research and start touring around and going to places that
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: were already had already started and m and so the
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: strains are very important. The strange mean a lot. So
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: for example, you have strains that have people that can't
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: sleep at night, and there are certain strains of cannabis
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: that will put you to sleep. There. There are certain
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: strains of cannabis. You know a lot of people don't
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: understand that a lot of people would cancer. Sometimes they
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: can't eat and that's one of the biggest problems to them.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: So they are strains that that that obviously make you eat.
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: They are strains that will make you get up and
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: move around and be active. Um, there's Sativa's so so
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: so that I mean every strain that they're just not
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: just a name that they're just naming it. They actually
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: do something. I mean, in our research and what what
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: what we prought us that was on is that we
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: we hope, we hope that you know that you're just
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: not smoking it for the fun of we we hope
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: that there's a purpose for you you to be um UM.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: In Hell, for example, you have people with lupus, I
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: mean they're strange and help with chronic um, chronic pain.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: I mean the government's have known all of these things.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: They've always just kept it tight. I mean the government
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: literally has patents on on cannabis strains, so that that
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: should tell you a lot about you know, we've been
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: kind of deceived, you know, so they know they know
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: a lot um and and the strains are. For us,
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: we have a lot of high um certiva strains because
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: in Vegas that's what the kind of the market call.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: So people want to come here be active um. But
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: for us, it will always be medical UM. And we
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: want to make sure that by it being medical that
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: if you do have an ailment, if you aren't sleeping,
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: or you have chronic pain, and we can take that
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: level of pain from a ten to or three that day,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: then we feel like we've kind of done our job.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: I mean I'm not sitting I'm not gonna tell you
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: that we're we're trying to cure cancer because we're not
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: at that level yet. Um. But but if we can,
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: if we can give you a better quality of life,
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: and that it just matters. And don't let anybody tell
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: this is that you have your stoners, you have your
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: guys that want to get high as a kite, but
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: you have there's a lot of people that truly use
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: this for medicine. We have um uh W when we
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: put them doing a production license here coming up the
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: next two months, and we have candies that that we
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: make that um that we feel like they'll be really
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: good for PTSD. And and all they do is they
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: relax you, They calm you down, You can drive, you
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: can do everything, you can function. It has very minimal
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: um um T a c and it a lot of
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: CBD and and it does it just gives you a
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: very common effect or for someone who's normally antsy or
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: right or I contend you know, yeah, absolutely, yeah, from
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: I go, I want to I want to talk about
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: it because it's been a nice journey talking to you
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: because the fact that you're you're so normal. And and
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: then when I say normal, that's because you're in a
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: very intense business, and that seems like an amazing level
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: of calmness to you. And when I say that because
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: of the fact that when I look at your philanthropic side,
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: I want to I want to tell I want you to, Tippy,
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: why is that important that you're involved with the Latino
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: organization that anger into agacy? Like you said early on,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: he was buying these houses back in the community, fixing
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: them up and putting people. Why is that important? Lay?
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: Why when it was driving you in that direction? Well,
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: you know, you know, you know, when I grew up,
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: I played Um, I played basketball. I went on to
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: play junior college, and I always thought me, you know,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: the thought was, man, I'm gonna make it big and
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: be able to get back to my community. And then
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: you know, I started realizing you don't have to go
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: play basketball the football to be an entertainer to be
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: able to give back to your community. And I just
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: feel like that, Um, you know, my grandmother used to
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: always tell me that you never know when people are
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: watching and so, UM, I feel like that's the best
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: form of um invitation and flattery is that when people
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: are watching you. So I wanted to show people that
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: I don't want to talk about anything anymore. I want
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: to do. So when I said I wanted to start
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: buying houses and buying them and putting them back in
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: my neighborhood and building and doing them up, that's what
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: I started to do. Um. You know, as far as
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: giving to the community, there's a lot of stuff that
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I do that I that I put out the look
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: me in the stuff that I don't ever want to
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: get out there. But um, it's one of those things
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: that I wanted to show people that I don't worship
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: the money. I worship the people and and and and
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: that's a big thing for me is like you know,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: sometimes we start everyone wants to make all this money
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: and it just sits there. So for me, I wanted
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: to be able to, uh, you know, I wanted to
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: I want to be able to do something that that
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: you're gonna really when I'm dead and going, you're gonna
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: remember and you're gonna be able to pass it on.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: I want you to understand that that this money comes
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: into your account and usually leaves right away, so it's
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: not yours. So but there but there are but there
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: are things you can do to improve your community. There
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: are things that you can do, and all you have
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: to do is show them you can. You can, you
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: can show I built the learning center in my neighborhood
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: and it's free, doesn't cost anything. Um, I pay for
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: everything over there, and I wanted, I wanted. I don't
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: want there to be any more excuses in our community.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: It's free. If you need tutoring your math, it's free,
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: if it's if you need English. If I mean it's
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: free that we we we we we we keep putting
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: a dollar value on things that we really don't have to.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: If allow up pulled together and build those things and
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: let us stop depending on other people, the city of
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: the county, the grants to start helping us, to start
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: helping ourselves, I think as a people will be in
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: a much better situation. So I just looked at it like,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: instead of me telling you what I'm gonna do, or
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: let's talk about this grant that we're gonna do, let's
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: just do it. No no no more, um no no
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: no more, no more talking about let's just do it.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: We can do it. We don't we have enough resources
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: in our community. I say this because um, in our
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: in our when we built our building, we hired all
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: African Americans to do the work. So we had a plumber,
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: African actor plumber, we had African American drywall were African American. Um.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: The only thing we didn't have as the concrete. But
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: but we had our We were able to pay our

- 1:20:02Speaker 1: one of her business partners, but she talked so much
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: I realized I can't ever bring home the show but
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: by herself. So my next is a single mother and
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: the queen of time management. You'll find out why she
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: went from bankruptcy to businesswoman. Please work on the money
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: making conversations. My most popular guests, Laura Fus, thank you
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: for having me back on Good Good Lord. First of all,
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: we get started. How's your mom? How's she doing? Get
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: that love, get those prayers out there, every good. She's
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: doing well. I appreciate that she's doing well. We're doing good.
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: Thank you. Until I said hi, you know, because she
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: always said with Shine mcdowald, I'm gonna pray for that boy.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: He's gonna make you. He's gonna get you that baby,
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: He's gonna get you there. He's well. The reason I
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: brought you on the show again it was tax time,
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: but also I wanted to bring out a couple of
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: things that that you do that I think it's important
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: when people start talking about who I'm too busy, or
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: they keep talking about their dreams and they say they
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: don't even have time for their dreams, and you seem
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: to have mastered the ability to do very significant jobs,
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: basically be full time jobs for certain individuals. I just
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: filed out the other day by Mary Kay Cosmetics. I
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: didn't know about Mary Kay, and so I got to
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: start by my Mary Kay stuff from you, you know,
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: so you know they know your boy. We start making
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: this Marrikay purchases, you know, because you know I'm in
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: the business. I bout makeup and stuff like that for
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: when I do these shoots and everything. People a line
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: of men. You know, they have everything for men as well.
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: I don't worry, I could I'm the mayor about what
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: I'm buying from. You know, what do you ever shot
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: back from Maria, Hey, don't worry about I'm about makeup,
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: make up coming up. This old face, this old face.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: Thats the part you need to be covered up. When
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: I take you. I got you covered. You'll be my
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: Mary Kay person from now on because it always because
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: I traveled so much. You know, you can't buy America
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: in the stores, and you got to go to a
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: representative to get the product. Because I went in to
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: Alta Alta and I went and I said, just laid
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: on a little too with Merrika. She said, we don't
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: say imric sir. I go, okay, I'm sorry. Let me
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: get out of here. I'm looking like a crazy person
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: right now. So you'll be here for me. So a
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: couple of things I want to bring back. You know,
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: a fact that you know you're you know you're you're
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: you're in the death business. Just said this title out
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: like that, full time corporate career plus hours a week?
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: How many hours a week? Forty plus hours a week.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: That's write there down, y'all. That's forty plus hours a week. Okay.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: She's also in the beauty salon business, full time service
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: law and they have a business supply store. How many
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: hours a week is that? Um? And that is one
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: good you know when you're a business owner that that
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: could be all day, every day. Now I'm not physically
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: at the salon because you sent my other three partners,
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: but that's their full time careers. UM. But when is
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: your own business us your or call every day all
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: day there's no days off, but now dedicated hours. I'm
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: probably at the salon, you know, maybe five to ten
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: hours a week. UM. And then events, of course, we
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: have events that we try to you know, be involved
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: in the community. So normally if you look at my
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: Facebook page, your Instagram plage, yes, I'm out all the time, UM.
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: And that's just to promote all the businesses to our
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: other business just be Lauren. And then and we talked
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: about now let's talk about your your your tax and
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: financial business. Yes, so the tax business. Now, of course
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: we are full well all year tax UM prepared tax
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: preparation service. We do bookkeeping, we do payroll. I just
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: focus on taxes for individuals and small businesses, UM. But
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: we are available all year long. And I think when
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: people are looking for tax prepares, you don't have to
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: use me. Hopefully you do, UM, but let's make sure
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: that they're available that when you called them if you
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: need help. In October and November, someone answers the phone,
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: they replied to your email, they get back to you,
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: because you could receive letters from the I R S,
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: you know, at the end of the year, and you
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: can't just have those tax offices that they're only open
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: January to May or they do taxes at home under
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: and they might use turbo taxes at home and just
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: put self prepared and then when you have an issue,
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: you'll never find them again. So I also just caution
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: people about choosing their tax prepare wisely. But yes, so
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: one day I focused on that a lot of years, um,
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: January through May, and then I'm available all year long
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: um for other people who are maybe filing later, filing
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: with an extension. So so, like I would tell you, so,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: I've never you know, I'm just I have a degree
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: in mathematics. But I'm intimidated. I will tell you to
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: I'm intimidated when it comes to filing taxes. Why am
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: I intimidating? Why? And I'm sure's a lot of people
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: out there, like me said, what's that big fear? Well,
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: I think the big fear is everyone is scared of
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: those large numbers, and everybody has this big, huge, you know,
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: nightmare about the i r S. That if the I
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: R S sends you a letter where if you get
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: all and said, oh my god, and it is not
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: like that the I R S. My biggest thing is
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: if any if you do get any letter, now remember
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: the I R S is not going to email you
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: and they're not going to call you. So there are
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: people that send scams through emails and phone calls. They're
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: not going to do that. You will get a letter
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: in the mail from the I R S. And the
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: biggest thing is do not ignore the letter. That's when
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: you call your tax prepare or if you can't get
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: in contact with them, then you call me and say
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: I need help. The biggest thing is do not ignore
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: their letters. If you communicate with the I R S,
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: they will work with you forever. You could be on
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: a payment plan um and they will certainly work with you,
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: but you just have to respond. Do not ignore the
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: I R S. I'm gonna tell you as soon as
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: I see it, I don't I don't care. It could
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: be could be one of the lottery winning letter in
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: front of it, I'm knocking it out the way to
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: find out what the I R S want with me?
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: Right And sometimes there's something small. I mean, sometimes they
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: just want more information. A lot of times it is
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: not a big deal. And if you have a tax prepair,
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: we're gonna help you get it together. We're gonna write
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: the letter, we're gonna mail it in, you're gonna call
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: in a couple of weeks, make sure they got it,
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: and it's done and over with. So the I R S.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: We do not need to be scared of the IRQ. Okay,
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: I hear what you're saying. I hear what you're saying. Okay,
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: big tim, I will ride it out. But I'm scared
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: to death and I'm gonna need people like you and
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: so so I'm gonna tell you make that part of
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: your campaign. If you're afraid, I'm the one to calm
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: your fear. That should be your motto with taxes. Okay,
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: that that's your moto. Don't don't, don't don't tell me
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: they should be afraid. That's how you get their revenue.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: We should stay afraid. That's what I'm here for. I'm
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: to calm your life. You need me in your life. See,
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: I gotta tun TV will be talking too much. I
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: gotta just change your whole format because you're just giving
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: away money. Don't be afraid. Tell people they should be afraid.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: You need me. You need me because it's amazing because
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: you've got some great things coming up that when we
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: come back on the other side of the commercial break,
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about your your Instagram live, your Facebook live.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: We're gonna start talking about these campaigns because is about
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: building your brand. It's tied that you've become a star,
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: young lady, because your personality is amazing, it's infectious. I
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: truly truly respect and appreciate who you are as an individual,
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: respect your business partners. I've always appreciated the supports you
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: gave us all those years that enabled awards. But more important,
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: it's all about you, Lauren. We come back and we'll
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: talk about some of the campaigns that you have in placed,
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: so people can show you how you're gonna help them
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: and also let them know if they're afraid of the
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: r s, come to me. That's they're gonna be. Come
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: to me. Hi the Sean McDonald, I'm back on the phone.
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: I have the one and only the coein of time Management,
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: Shade out a d C. He's from bankruptcy. The business
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: woman one of my most popular guests on money making Conversations.
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: Laura's still there, Yes, I'm here. Let's let's get some
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: questions here that you prepare that you felt that were
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: very important for people to UH have you respond to.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: As as twenty seven team comes to an end, is
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: there anything we can do to affect our taxes for
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: this year? UM? I would say so, we have like
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: two weeks left for this year, so if you want
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: to change your tax situation, so of course, anything we
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: can do is try to reduce our taxable income. And
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: the way that we can do that is by increasing
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: our itemized deduction, which would be to make donations to
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: a charity UM, and that everybody could go this weekend
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: and clean out your closet while you're on vacation next week.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: Just make sure you get it's a good will the
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: Purple Heart, get a receipt. UM. You can also because
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: we can write off some of your doctor's bills, hospital bills,
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: let me pay some of those bills before the end
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: of the year if you're able to. UM. But the
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: biggest thing is you can still make donations. And then
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: if you're self employed UM, and you need to defer
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: some of that income. Maybe you can wait till the
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: last week and December to send out invoices, so then
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: you get that income next year prepaired tax wise, you
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: got to clean out the income or increase our ademized deduction.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: That's what I recommend for the next two weeks. Yeah,
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: that's that's really important. You know, if you're self imployed,
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: you cannot leave money in that account because they just
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: tax it just exactly exact. And that's that's important. Is
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: just is sometimes I actually will pay some accounts like
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: the first quarter of the upcoming year. That's a that's
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: a trick that I do. I called some of my
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: cousin said, you mind me paying you for the first quarter?
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: Are you paying you in January? Is to the December?
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: Can I pay your early so I get this tax
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: out and I can write the tax off now. And
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: they agree with this. So that's that's that's a technique
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: that I do right there. Now, what do we need
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: to do to prepare to file taxes? What do we
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: have to do for preparation? Because I think the biggest
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: thing because so many people are going to be off
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: during the holiday season, so just get yourself prepared, get
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: yourself an organize, an organize like a file system or
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: a file somewhere, because you know, all of those important
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: documents begins to come in the mail in January and
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: all the time when you come to me or your
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: tax prepare a lot of times they don't have a
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: W two. They're listening at ten ninety nine. So get
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: a space to cure place now and then just have
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: a photo there so as they come in the mail,
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: you don't have to do anything with it, just throw
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: it in that photo. That makes my life a lot easier. Also,
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: while you're on holiday, if you were not diligent and
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: saving all of those receipts, are putting them in an
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: organized file system during the year begins to get those
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: together because more so now um with all these different
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: smart systems with the I R s, they do want
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: to have receipts. We need to have receipts to back
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: up all of those itemized seductions. So that's a great
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: time where you're on holiday vacation to pull those out
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: so then we're not having to file an extension for you.
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: When the IRS opens, you're ready to start filing. In
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: the January beginning of February, I guess I should say,
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: what's the mistake that people do this normally? I mean,
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: it's the same mistake they make all the time, you go.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: If I see this mistake one more time, I'm gonna
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: just I would say. The biggest mistake is thinking that me,
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: their tax of prayer, is a miracle worker. Now I
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: am here and just like your tax pre prayer. Yes,
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: as your tax p payer, I work for you. I
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: do not work for the i RS. I work for you,
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: and there I am there to advise and work through
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: and you know, discuss your situation with you confidentially. Of course, However,
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: I cannot work miracles. When you come to me with
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: your W two from last year and you made fifty
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: thousand dollars this year and had no taxes, with hell
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: and years and all kinds of deductions, there's nothing that
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: I can do, you know. So, I mean, there are
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: things that we can do, but for you, for the taxpayer,
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: and myself to be legitimate and not end up in jail.
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: There's only so much we can do. So the biggest
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: thing is you know that everyone we have to pay taxes,
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: and I'm gonna work with you to minimize how much
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: taxes you're paying, but you have to have taxes with
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: it all from those W two's, or if you're self employed,
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: you have to pay tax on that money. So that's
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: the biggest mistake. The whole chick. Take the whole chick
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: will yes, yes, I have quite a few times to
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: do that, and then they think I'm a real racal
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: worker because that's how I educate them and explain it,
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: asked them to change it for the next year. They
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: still don't change it for the next year. So that
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: is the biggest mistake that people make thinking, you know,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: that's a that's the issue as to why we're going
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: to be and I'm sure we'll get to my live
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: videos and what we want to work on in twenties. Okay, okay,
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: we've transitioned to the live video. You you know, you
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: smooth now, you smooth? Now, Lord, let's talk about these
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: live videos here. Have you been doing them already? Well?
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: I did for a long time. In seventeen we were
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: doing tax tip Tuesday. Okay, there's all were fun, but
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: of course you know that I talked way too much
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: and I do get off track a little bit. So
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: this year I'm gonna try to be more focused on
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: the topic we're supposed to be talking about, really talk
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: so so to mask you how they work, Because because
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: I'm working with a very talented law you're here in
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: Atlanta named or for Real for our law firm. Yes,
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: I found her and I went and stopped her page.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: She's amazing. She's amazing. She gets like you know, I've
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: seen her get up to like three hundred thousand views,
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: and she deals with family divorce situation, how to deal
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: with your children and everything. You know, she's found. She's
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: just she just an engaging person. And I feel that
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: you're an engaging person. But you gotta let people tell
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: their story and respond to him. Though, Lord, you gotta
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: you can't be the star. Your information has to be
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: the star. That's that's what we gotta work with you,
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: because you're so talented. I remember what I was watching
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: Jay Leno when he first took over Johnny Carson, and
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: when he would come on the show, the guests were
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: just laughing at him. And then from then the executive
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: you said to pull him aside, said hey, Jay, you're
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: too funny. Huh. He said, they didn't. We need the
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: guests to come on the show and they need to
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: be the star, and you need to be the host
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: because they're the reason we can do this every night.
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: You can't be funny every night. And he went, oh,
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: so the same thing here with you. She Joy has
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: just figured out that, you know, so my information is
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: the star and people and you go to outside, you
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: go to a website, her Facebook, and you go, wow,
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: these numbers are incredible, Okay and so and she doesn't
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: even have a huge social media followers. So it's all
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: about people finding you, sharing you, and just connecting with you.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: So it's important that as we have to build your
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: brand out, let's let's because I want to work with you.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: I want to work with you. You know, you know
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: I'm a fan of yours. I just feel that just
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: to build you and you get you in the right
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: direction I think would be a blessing and for so
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: many people because you really do care. So so the
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: important thing is for us to figure out who you
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: are and what message you're trying to put out there
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: in the tax season. So people, let me ask you,
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: can you break down like certain people that that like
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: you know, like you know, they're they're they're single parents
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: and single mom and divorcesitate so you say it in
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: a nutshell, which sounds like it was pretty small. Uh,
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: individual taxes and small businesses. Can we expand that when
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: you say individual taxes? What is that? What is exactly
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: does that mean when you say that? So let not
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: say individual taxes. That's you know, everyone who goes to work.
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: You know, everyone who goes to work, or whether you're
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: an employee or self employed, you have to file an
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: individual tax returns. Even for um my good friends that
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: work from home, they have their own side business. Maybe
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: they're earning cash at home. The first dollar that you
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: earn in these United States of America, you have to
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: pay taxes or that, so you would file it individual
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: individual tax return. So everybody has to file it individual
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: tax return. And then if they have side businesses for
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: small businesses where they you know, are self employed, then
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: they would do a business return. Okay, cool. So so
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: let's shoot for January night launch that's a Tuesday. Okay,
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: let's shoot for January night. Let's let's get your let's
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: get your art work together. It's because you know, this
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: is when people they need information what to do with
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: your taxes? What do you do with your tax returns?
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: And all that, but we gotta we gotta let everybody
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: know they need to come to you. Stop telling people
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: stop being afraid of taxes. I want them to be
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: afraid because they need to come to you so you
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: can calm them down. They'll go with to calm them
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: down and let them understand that you can win if
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: by listening to me, by bringing your business to me.
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: So January night, so you know, Smatha're gonna reach out
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: to you and we'll talk over the holidays because it's
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: a ramp up, because we gotta start promoting a week
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: in advance so we can get this. I'm gonna share
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: you with my Money Making Conversations page. We're gonna get
