- 3:09Speaker 1: Please welcome. We always have a good time. She puts
- 3:11Speaker 1: a smile on my face and she inspires my viewers
- 3:14Speaker 1: and my listeners. Tamla Man to money making conversations. Tamla
- 3:19Speaker 1: what's going on? Hey are you I'm doing fantastic And
- 3:24Speaker 1: I always got a lot to say when you come
- 3:26Speaker 1: on the show, you look fantastic. I see awards behind you.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Are they blessings? You know? People always say, you know
- 3:32Speaker 1: you're your achieve a certain level. It can be a
- 3:34Speaker 1: blessing and a curse. Talk about that experience of being
- 3:37Speaker 1: successful talent on man, Well, I wouldn't say it's a curse.
- 3:41Speaker 1: But sometimes you're not gonna please. The thing how I've
- 3:44Speaker 1: learned is you're not gonna please everybody, so I enjoy it.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just living, as the kids say, now,
- 3:51Speaker 1: I'm living my best life, and I really thank God
- 3:54Speaker 1: for the favor that he's giving me. But I mean
- 3:57Speaker 1: thank God for the wards. But I don't try not
- 3:59Speaker 1: to get caught up to all of that. I just
- 4:01Speaker 1: like certain. I just love certain. We're not. Look at
- 4:04Speaker 1: Tom Brady when he wanted the super Bowl, you know,
- 4:06Speaker 1: he said he wanted to win another super Bowl. And
- 4:08Speaker 1: that's and I think that's that's what we have to understand,
- 4:12Speaker 1: that don't hold on what sometimes to what you've accomplished.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Look at what you can do. And I've always talked
- 4:17Speaker 1: that about you know, you know I love David. Your
- 4:20Speaker 1: husbands are daf and today I got you by yourself
- 4:22Speaker 1: today to talk about the things you're doing for your career,
- 4:25Speaker 1: because it always seems that sometimes when you are married,
- 4:28Speaker 1: you can get caught up and people just think you
- 4:29Speaker 1: can only do things as a pair, you don't have
- 4:31Speaker 1: a life. But I've always seen you as an individual
- 4:34Speaker 1: and saw him as a successful individual. Talk about that
- 4:37Speaker 1: relationship as a couple and then defining yourself as Tamila
- 4:41Speaker 1: Man as a couple, I can say for myself, I
- 4:46Speaker 1: look at us as being a powerful couple because of
- 4:50Speaker 1: us believing in supporting one another, and we just try
- 4:53Speaker 1: to be examples for other people to see that you
- 4:56Speaker 1: can't work together and you know, be some shakers and
- 4:59Speaker 1: be some movers to get some things done because we're
- 5:02Speaker 1: just really sent to be encourages and as individuals. It
- 5:07Speaker 1: works for us because we were not jealous of each other.
- 5:10Speaker 1: We're in each other's corners. We have each other's best
- 5:14Speaker 1: interested hard and making whatever that gold is or desire
- 5:18Speaker 1: that you have, we want to make it come to
- 5:20Speaker 1: past for each other. Like now David got my career
- 5:23Speaker 1: often going and now I want him I told him,
- 5:25Speaker 1: let's do it. Let's go do whatever you need to do,
- 5:28Speaker 1: we want to do. Let's make that happen. And we're
- 5:30Speaker 1: just used to allowing each other to have that light.
- 5:34Speaker 1: If it's it's time to be in the light, I'm
- 5:36Speaker 1: cool with just standing in the background, sharing them on
- 5:39Speaker 1: and vice versa. For me, well, the beauty of being
- 5:42Speaker 1: in the background, you really ain't in the background, Tama, Okay,
- 5:45Speaker 1: you know sound you're so much. You're in front of me.
- 5:51Speaker 1: You're from a lot of people, girl, especially in the
- 5:55Speaker 1: gospel world, and that's the beautiful thing. Because we don't
- 5:57Speaker 1: know the journeys that we see. We all we do
- 6:00Speaker 1: is wake up in the morning. We feel blessed because
- 6:02Speaker 1: God a louder. I will tell people a long clock
- 6:04Speaker 1: doesn't wake me up. God. Yeah, you know, just have
- 6:08Speaker 1: to be some physical tool that reminds me that I
- 6:11Speaker 1: can get up at a certain time. But I get up,
- 6:14Speaker 1: but I look at your schedule. Let me just tell
- 6:15Speaker 1: y'all something about tell the man when they the hard
- 6:18Speaker 1: working should be her middle name, hard working should be
- 6:21Speaker 1: David Mane. While working on the album Overcomer, she filmed
- 6:26Speaker 1: two movies, so Sata and The new Tyler Parish movie
- 6:29Speaker 1: made because Tyler said he wasn't gonna do made no more. Okay,
- 6:33Speaker 1: but they roll that check in front of you, making
- 6:35Speaker 1: do a lot of things, making do a lot of things. Okay,
- 6:39Speaker 1: you know what he wanted to bring laughter two And
- 6:43Speaker 1: we've been going through so much. She was like, yeah,
- 6:46Speaker 1: I just wanted us to get together and made people laugh.
- 6:49Speaker 1: So he's really this movie is Homecoming, is gonna make
- 6:54Speaker 1: y'all laugh. I'm telling it's some funny jump going on
- 6:58Speaker 1: in this movie. And when I'll see what's going on,
- 7:01Speaker 1: Mr Brown, I tell you it's hilarious. I can see,
- 7:07Speaker 1: I can see Tyler Perry at the Netflix office, right,
- 7:11Speaker 1: I ain't ever gonna do but dia no more. Then
- 7:15Speaker 1: that man said wrote some numbers. He probably broke out
- 7:18Speaker 1: the mdea right there, which I won't which I won't girl,
- 7:21Speaker 1: which by calling y'all from Netflix, girl, Mr Brooke, damn
- 7:26Speaker 1: Mr Brown from getting close out that closet. Mdina is
- 7:30Speaker 1: back in the filmmaking business right right. I love it.
- 7:36Speaker 1: I love it, And I tell us about Soul Santa
- 7:39Speaker 1: now because I mean and that that's the whole Soul
- 7:43Speaker 1: Santa is gonna be something really different for us as
- 7:47Speaker 1: a couple. We still as a couple, but we have
- 7:51Speaker 1: some disagreements going on here. But it's serious and you
- 7:54Speaker 1: know it's a drama. Um Normally you know we have
- 7:57Speaker 1: a comedy, uh andre, But this time it's just more
- 8:02Speaker 1: drummer and David is You get to see him in
- 8:04Speaker 1: a different light. And I really believe it's a really
- 8:07Speaker 1: really cute, loving Christmas movie. He's just gonna put you
- 8:10Speaker 1: in a Christmas sphere. Well, you know the thing about
- 8:13Speaker 1: that when I talked about like I always look at
- 8:15Speaker 1: Kevin Hart and I always telling people Kevin Hodg's gonna
- 8:17Speaker 1: win to Oscar because you can really act. He's a
- 8:20Speaker 1: He structured his career where you can accept him as
- 8:22Speaker 1: a comedian and now you can accept him as a
- 8:24Speaker 1: serious actor. And and I've always seen David and because
- 8:29Speaker 1: he's he's he's he's a person. When you said I
- 8:30Speaker 1: and talked to him, you can just see that other
- 8:32Speaker 1: side of him because he's not a guy who has
- 8:34Speaker 1: to be owned all the time to entertain you. And
- 8:37Speaker 1: that allows me to let him know that he can
- 8:39Speaker 1: cross over and be serious, he can cross over, be focused.
- 8:42Speaker 1: He he the role so So when you start seeing
- 8:45Speaker 1: him and the script came to you, what were your
- 8:48Speaker 1: thoughts of the opportunity and what was his thoughts that
- 8:51Speaker 1: he shared with you when he saw he had to
- 8:53Speaker 1: do a more serious role. He was he was serious
- 8:57Speaker 1: and he was serious of happy of out it. And
- 9:01Speaker 1: for him to be serious, I mean it was hard.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Like when we were recording of Feminine, you know, some
- 9:07Speaker 1: things he wanted to bring in some comedy, but he
- 9:10Speaker 1: had to really structure himself to just be straight. And um,
- 9:15Speaker 1: Terry Vaughan was out directed ball. When I tell you
- 9:17Speaker 1: she was working with it, she was like, no, we're
- 9:19Speaker 1: not doing anything like sitcoms. It's straight. I don't want
- 9:23Speaker 1: no laughter right here. So it was really challenging, but
- 9:27Speaker 1: a great challenge for him. And even to the extent
- 9:31Speaker 1: that him you know, he was a drinker in the movie,
- 9:35Speaker 1: so he had to be drunk, so that was something
- 9:36Speaker 1: totally different for him. So it's crazy, it's really crazy,
- 9:41Speaker 1: but he did it. He did during the Pandemic, which
- 9:46Speaker 1: which means we're gonna get to some more stuff you've
- 9:49Speaker 1: done because you were busy doing the pandemic. Pandemic did
- 9:52Speaker 1: show you, it didn't, Thank the Lord it really didn't.
- 9:55Speaker 1: So how was that done? When you know, when you
- 9:57Speaker 1: when you guys are quarantined on his compound, how are
- 10:02Speaker 1: you able to do these movies and they feel still
- 10:05Speaker 1: comfortable that you could be safe and your family was
- 10:08Speaker 1: safe when you saw him again on the compound with
- 10:11Speaker 1: Tyler Perry Studios, Yes, we once you you had the
- 10:15Speaker 1: test before you got in. We tested like two to
- 10:18Speaker 1: three times a week, and it was like once you
- 10:21Speaker 1: got on, you cannot you couldn't leave. So we were
- 10:24Speaker 1: on campus the whole time that we were there feeling,
- 10:27Speaker 1: which was great. Tyler made sure that everybody had everything
- 10:31Speaker 1: they needed. It was it was incredible. It was it
- 10:34Speaker 1: was expensive for him, but it was very incredible how
- 10:37Speaker 1: he took care of everybody. And safety was the first
- 10:41Speaker 1: thing that they I mean they pumped it into us
- 10:43Speaker 1: with being writing up on each other and still social
- 10:46Speaker 1: distance and all of that. Then when we did the movie,
- 10:49Speaker 1: we were being tested as well to three times a
- 10:52Speaker 1: week and it was not so as confined as the
- 10:58Speaker 1: base of Tyler Perry Studio. But they kind of told
- 11:01Speaker 1: us that didn't really want us going out. It's like
- 11:03Speaker 1: we will go film tests and be like right in
- 11:07Speaker 1: the hotel pretty much everybody. They had everybody stay at
- 11:10Speaker 1: one hotel. They almost runted out the whole hotel for everybody,
- 11:13Speaker 1: so it would just be us there. But we tested
- 11:16Speaker 1: like two to three times a weekend. They were really pushing,
- 11:21Speaker 1: you know, social distance and keeping your mask on and
- 11:24Speaker 1: the actors we had to do these shields once they
- 11:27Speaker 1: put your makeup on, but everybody had to be masked
- 11:30Speaker 1: up like hair makeup has to have on two masks,
- 11:32Speaker 1: like a mask and a shield. So they were being
- 11:35Speaker 1: everybody was being very careful. We've been really blessed. We've
- 11:38Speaker 1: been really blessed. So now that's it. We got the
- 11:40Speaker 1: two movies. We got the sold Santa out the way,
- 11:42Speaker 1: We got the Tyler Para Badelia film out the way.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Then she shot two seasons. I'm telling a myou she'd
- 11:48Speaker 1: been talm on man shot two seasons Tyler Perry's and
- 11:52Speaker 1: Sister Living Girl. Okay, uh, how you interviewing with me?
- 11:58Speaker 1: Why you ain't tied? I was tired. I took I
- 12:04Speaker 1: took a few breaks breaks, but and then to working
- 12:09Speaker 1: on the music. But you know what, you have to
- 12:12Speaker 1: kind of work while it's day. You have to just
- 12:14Speaker 1: keep doing why you can because you don't know what
- 12:17Speaker 1: we do. You don't know what's gonna happen, So you
- 12:19Speaker 1: kind of have to work when it's time to work.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And I think a lot of people don't play. Then
- 12:24Speaker 1: you play, a lot of people don't do that. They
- 12:25Speaker 1: put restrictions on what they can do. I do say,
- 12:29Speaker 1: they'll say something like I do it later, or that
- 12:31Speaker 1: opportunity they're gonna come back around, and it's not always true.
- 12:34Speaker 1: It's not it's not and so that it's not true
- 12:37Speaker 1: that it's gonna come back, they may go get somebody else.
- 12:40Speaker 1: And that I love about you because I always talk
- 12:43Speaker 1: about you being a businesswoman. Was the launch of your
- 12:45Speaker 1: clothing line, the Tambla Man Collection, because to me, you know,
- 12:49Speaker 1: because you know, I love seeing talent, I love seeing
- 12:53Speaker 1: gifted people. But some people just can see you in
- 12:56Speaker 1: that lane and think that's all you can do, and
- 12:58Speaker 1: that's all. I always champion your business on the track,
- 13:00Speaker 1: you know, every time I talk to you, we talked
- 13:02Speaker 1: business to talk about that hold the Tambla Man Collection.
- 13:06Speaker 1: How did it get started and what motivated you to
- 13:09Speaker 1: do it? What motivated me to do it was trying
- 13:13Speaker 1: to go find some nice things for plus size because
- 13:17Speaker 1: you know, a lot of times when it comes to
- 13:19Speaker 1: our fabric, you know, they have some stuff that look
- 13:22Speaker 1: like table cloths, and we don't want to look like
- 13:24Speaker 1: a table cloth. Know we may be thick, you don't
- 13:26Speaker 1: want to look like We want to look cute too.
- 13:29Speaker 1: So I was really tuned in on like the plus
- 13:32Speaker 1: size thick ladies out of you know, I hate I
- 13:35Speaker 1: don't even like the word plus size. I say thick,
- 13:37Speaker 1: you know, nice with our curves everywhere. But where we
- 13:40Speaker 1: got wherever your curves are, I like that. That's we're thick.
- 13:43Speaker 1: So size is twelve and thirty two. It was for
- 13:45Speaker 1: your everyday woman. Something nice and comfortable is what we
- 13:49Speaker 1: were aiming for. And the quality it was all. It's
- 13:52Speaker 1: all about Templeman collection with the quality of work and
- 13:55Speaker 1: how well it's put together. So when I'm talking to
- 13:59Speaker 1: my my young the managers, which is my daughter MoU
- 14:02Speaker 1: that runs it and the other lady that helps us
- 14:05Speaker 1: with distribution, I'm all about pushing the fabrics that we choose.
- 14:09Speaker 1: My daughter helps my daughter and my daughter and we
- 14:12Speaker 1: all three of us and they're younger, so we're trying
- 14:14Speaker 1: to help for my age group and the younger age group,
- 14:17Speaker 1: so we can have something for everybody. So we try to,
- 14:21Speaker 1: you know, dress up. I want to be cute, comfortable
- 14:26Speaker 1: where it's you can do do your errands, actually work
- 14:31Speaker 1: out in it. Those comfortable clothes you can just throw
- 14:34Speaker 1: on and throw and go and get to worry about
- 14:35Speaker 1: ironing it things like that. That's how that came about.
- 14:38Speaker 1: It's something comfortable and cute for our thick ladies. So
- 14:43Speaker 1: till David to do the same thing for me. Because
- 14:46Speaker 1: when I get out of these suits, I just want
- 14:48Speaker 1: some comfortable stuff that I can just go out in
- 14:51Speaker 1: the yard, or I can just go to the store
- 14:53Speaker 1: and go to home deep or go to the Krogers
- 14:56Speaker 1: or whatever. Comfortable, but look good. I still I have
- 14:58Speaker 1: my little style on me. You now my flavor. That's
- 15:01Speaker 1: what you're saying. Your clothing line is you can look comfortable,
- 15:04Speaker 1: you can feel comfortable, but you still look good and cute.
- 15:09Speaker 1: The Chapel collection, that's what we talked about. Now that
- 15:11Speaker 1: now this leads to the song He did it for me. Now,
- 15:15Speaker 1: when I when I heard that title, he did it
- 15:17Speaker 1: for me? That that that resonated with me because I'm
- 15:21Speaker 1: not a person that I'm not. I'm telling straight up,
- 15:23Speaker 1: for I'm not the Church Gore. I'm not a person
- 15:25Speaker 1: can recite quotes from the Bible. You know, I'm not
- 15:29Speaker 1: gonna even say that, but that my faith. You cannot
- 15:32Speaker 1: question that because I am strong in my faith. I'm
- 15:35Speaker 1: strong in my belief that I'm blessed to be here.
- 15:38Speaker 1: I wake up because of the mercy of God. My
- 15:41Speaker 1: family is here because of the blessings that He had
- 15:44Speaker 1: provide for me to be able to take care of them,
- 15:46Speaker 1: and the fact that I come home every day. It's
- 15:48Speaker 1: tied to his blessings. So when I hear he did
- 15:51Speaker 1: it from me, what did it resonate to you? Because
- 15:54Speaker 1: you created the song you've seen the song he did
- 15:58Speaker 1: it for me comes from a place I had did this.
- 16:01Speaker 1: I had did um an interview, and then I heard
- 16:06Speaker 1: I got back of someone saying, you know that I'm
- 16:10Speaker 1: doing a lot of things and a lot of doors
- 16:12Speaker 1: are opening for me, and why is she getting all
- 16:15Speaker 1: these things? And it really hurt me to the core,
- 16:19Speaker 1: honestly where it brought me to tears. Where I'm not
- 16:22Speaker 1: out here, no one is handing me anything. We're working for.
- 16:26Speaker 1: We've worked for everything that we have, and I just
- 16:31Speaker 1: I was talking to the producer, which was Phil Briant
- 16:35Speaker 1: at the time, and I was like, man, this don't
- 16:37Speaker 1: come easy, the gifts that we have, and I just
- 16:42Speaker 1: didn't understand why the words were being saying, why is
- 16:45Speaker 1: everything coming to her? Why Like it's I guess it
- 16:48Speaker 1: looks easy, but it's not easy for me, and I
- 16:51Speaker 1: just don't I just really, I just really didn't understand, honestly.
- 16:57Speaker 1: So I was like, it was God who did this
- 17:00Speaker 1: of me. I didn't do it for myself. It was
- 17:01Speaker 1: a favor that He's placed upon my life with the
- 17:05Speaker 1: work that I've put in, and that's how he did
- 17:08Speaker 1: it for me. Came about that there's no goodness of
- 17:12Speaker 1: my own, but the Lord saw fit to bless me.
- 17:17Speaker 1: It's finally here, the season of celebration, and no matter
- 17:21Speaker 1: how you celebrate with family and friends, whether you're preparing
- 17:24Speaker 1: for reys magos or Karamu lighting the Manura, are going

- 19:09Speaker 1: Human Services, Administration for Children and Families and the Council. Well,
- 19:13Speaker 1: the interesting thing about it is that I look at
- 19:16Speaker 1: I look at my life, you know, and and I
- 19:18Speaker 1: look at your life too, because you know, we've known
- 19:19Speaker 1: each other long time. And when when you're young, you know,
- 19:23Speaker 1: when you're young and you're twenties and third, you don't
- 19:25Speaker 1: see forties and fifties. You just don't see it. And
- 19:27Speaker 1: then and then I look at young people being successful
- 19:31Speaker 1: when their twenties and thirties, and I often think, do
- 19:34Speaker 1: they understand how much it takes to get to the
- 19:37Speaker 1: forties and fifties with that same level of success? And
- 19:40Speaker 1: then I realized, I'm blessed. I'm blessed because I work hard,
- 19:44Speaker 1: but I blessed because the opportunity is presented to me,
- 19:46Speaker 1: and I just I guess it. What I'm just trying
- 19:48Speaker 1: to say to you is that he did it for me. Really,
- 19:52Speaker 1: it's a testimony to that you understood that twenty he
- 19:54Speaker 1: did it for you, thirty he did it for you.
- 19:57Speaker 1: In your forties and older, he did it for you.
- 19:59Speaker 1: So a lot of people don't understand that they get
- 20:02Speaker 1: lost because they only live in for the moment. Because
- 20:05Speaker 1: I tell people I'm gonna live as long as I
- 20:07Speaker 1: don't know what retirement means. I don't know how you
- 20:11Speaker 1: supposed to walk in fifty or sixty or seventy. But
- 20:13Speaker 1: Rus Shan gonna walk over Shanna Shan. And I think
- 20:17Speaker 1: that when I hear this here and hear the title,
- 20:19Speaker 1: he did it for me, that's all you're saying. Don't
- 20:21Speaker 1: criticize me for what I'm achieving, because I'm not trying
- 20:24Speaker 1: to take credit for what I'm achieving exactly exactly. That's
- 20:28Speaker 1: so true. That's true. And and and I think sometimes
- 20:31Speaker 1: people feel like, you know, give me a shot, but
- 20:35Speaker 1: you know it once up all the time in my life,
- 20:37Speaker 1: I can't see I would be looking at like, Lord,
- 20:40Speaker 1: I'm not being blessed. But once I honestly started putting
- 20:43Speaker 1: the work in and start believing what I prayed for,
- 20:47Speaker 1: that's when the Lord started moving in my behalf, because
- 20:49Speaker 1: my faith started standing on its own to trust God
- 20:54Speaker 1: to be God, and he started doing it. He started
- 20:57Speaker 1: doing it for me right now. You know when I
- 20:59Speaker 1: went about your life, you know, my my, I got
- 21:03Speaker 1: on the scale of the day. I just recently had
- 21:05Speaker 1: a gall bladder surgery. You know, you like three weeks ago,
- 21:09Speaker 1: and uh what you're doing it. I'm to enjoying my life. Okay,
- 21:14Speaker 1: God told me I get up. I'm just telling you,
- 21:15Speaker 1: tat be telling me. Don't be criticizing me for sitting
- 21:18Speaker 1: up your interviewing you. Okay, I keep telling you. God
- 21:21Speaker 1: woke me up, saying okay, it's good. I'm not pushing myself.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I ain't out there running on marathon. I'm not on
- 21:28Speaker 1: I'm not on a balance being Okay, I'm not doing
- 21:31Speaker 1: none of that. I'm just getting up, putting on a
- 21:32Speaker 1: nice suit, sitting in the acrotism in the room interviewing
- 21:35Speaker 1: a friend. Okay, you can stop. Stop. Okay. So I
- 21:38Speaker 1: had gone blot of surgery and then and just so
- 21:41Speaker 1: in my stupid behind. I'm taking uh a concessor, I'm
- 21:45Speaker 1: talking Tom's I'm thinking it's a stomachache. You know what
- 21:48Speaker 1: I'm saying, because that's what we do. You know, we
- 21:50Speaker 1: don't realize our bodies talking to us. We try to
- 21:54Speaker 1: ignore and try to REMITI of certain needs. So recently
- 21:57Speaker 1: in your life, this journey we're talking to that ed
- 22:00Speaker 1: you to the album that we're gonna hear the Overcomer.
- 22:02Speaker 1: You had double knee surgery, You have physical therapy or
- 22:05Speaker 1: a wellness journey. Talk about that, because I always check
- 22:08Speaker 1: you on the show. I try to present a life
- 22:10Speaker 1: that I'm not perfect. I try to present a life
- 22:12Speaker 1: that I make mistakes and sometimes I don't understand because
- 22:14Speaker 1: people look at me like I know it all. I'm successful.
- 22:17Speaker 1: I don't have any problems. You know, I don't have
- 22:20Speaker 1: any money issues. I do have money issues every day.
- 22:22Speaker 1: And so you doney surgery, your physical talk about that
- 22:26Speaker 1: whole journey of wellness for you that makes you comfortable
- 22:29Speaker 1: to talk about it today. Okay, Well, that's how Overcoming
- 22:33Speaker 1: came about. The last five or six years, I was
- 22:36Speaker 1: actually working in pain, dancing around, doing filming. All of
- 22:42Speaker 1: these things were happening, and I will be in so
- 22:45Speaker 1: much pain. And you know, once but while I was working,
- 22:49Speaker 1: it's like it didn't bother me. But once I came
- 22:51Speaker 1: off stage or sit down, my knees will be hurting
- 22:54Speaker 1: me so bad. And after going through the surgery, not
- 22:58Speaker 1: knowing how I was gonna if everything was gonna work properly,
- 23:02Speaker 1: you know, if my body was gonna just to this
- 23:04Speaker 1: material being in my body, and I'm like, Lord, you
- 23:07Speaker 1: know I need you to help me overcome this. And
- 23:10Speaker 1: then with the wellness thing again, it's like I didn't
- 23:14Speaker 1: want to be a liability of my family. So it's like,
- 23:17Speaker 1: you gotta do something different if you want some different results.
- 23:20Speaker 1: So it's I'm still That's why I took the album
- 23:23Speaker 1: the name Overcoming, because it's a day by day walk
- 23:27Speaker 1: that by faith, I'm gonna overcome. I'm overcoming. I've lost
- 23:30Speaker 1: some weight, but it's I still got goals that I
- 23:33Speaker 1: want to reach. I want to complete and finish that
- 23:36Speaker 1: that I started. And with the with the needs and everything.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I went through therapy, like you said, and it's like
- 23:43Speaker 1: every day, every day, you know, it's getting better and better.
- 23:46Speaker 1: It's it's been two years. July so it's like I'm
- 23:49Speaker 1: getting better and better, and I just want to be
- 23:51Speaker 1: like that. Even in my life, I just want to
- 23:53Speaker 1: get better. I don't want to be even though I'm fifty,
- 23:56Speaker 1: in my fifties, I still want to be able to
- 23:58Speaker 1: learn from somebody. I can learn from a young person
- 24:01Speaker 1: or even the older person. I'm open to receive it.
- 24:04Speaker 1: If it's gonna make me better, I'm willing to do that.
- 24:07Speaker 1: So that's how I'm working at being an overcome up
- 24:10Speaker 1: every day, and I'm encouraging those who are watching it
- 24:13Speaker 1: and listening that we all can overcome and we can conquer.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Come on that you special that the two albums songs
- 24:22Speaker 1: on the album Overcoming and comfort, did you just slip
- 24:25Speaker 1: that in so smooth? That's dealing with a pro you know,
- 24:29Speaker 1: and you can overcome And that's not the words started
- 24:35Speaker 1: with completion. And when I looked the word up finishes
- 24:38Speaker 1: in it so a lot. And I realized a lot
- 24:41Speaker 1: of things we've started in our lives, and I even
- 24:44Speaker 1: in my own life, I took it personal. All these songs,
- 24:47Speaker 1: I took it personally. I've started things that you know,
- 24:50Speaker 1: you start cleaning up in the room and before you
- 24:52Speaker 1: know you know, started another room and you haven't even
- 24:54Speaker 1: finished completing that task. So my thing is to stay
- 24:58Speaker 1: focus and finish this album. We're started with finished work,
- 25:02Speaker 1: the work that God has begun in us. We're gonna
- 25:04Speaker 1: finish and with his help, we're gonna complete it. And
- 25:07Speaker 1: then the album. The last song on the album is
- 25:10Speaker 1: called finish that we wouldn't finished, and we're gonna finish well,
- 25:14Speaker 1: well the beauty If this's not you've always had people
- 25:17Speaker 1: write songs for you, you always never participating in that
- 25:20Speaker 1: side of it. Talk about that because you know it's
- 25:24Speaker 1: it's about confidence too, It's about well, what you write
- 25:27Speaker 1: makes sense. Well, if you told somebody you wrote this
- 25:30Speaker 1: with they what they look at you and just pacify you.
- 25:33Speaker 1: But and then say that's good you you you well
- 25:38Speaker 1: you in order to do what you do, because those
- 25:41Speaker 1: are my exact out as a as a songwright, it's
- 25:44Speaker 1: just gonna make sense. I don't know, and I mean
- 25:47Speaker 1: me and my daughter were sitting with the producer and
- 25:51Speaker 1: he really helped me on. He did it for me.
- 25:54Speaker 1: He helped me on, help me to really realize that
- 25:58Speaker 1: my words and even with Travis Green he wrote finished,
- 26:02Speaker 1: I sit and talk to him for about about an
- 26:04Speaker 1: hour of what I wanted to talk about it. He
- 26:06Speaker 1: took all my words and put them into finished and
- 26:11Speaker 1: the same thing when he did it for me with
- 26:13Speaker 1: feel and all of us just working together. It's like
- 26:18Speaker 1: he helped my confidence come alive, you know, like dealing
- 26:21Speaker 1: with sometimes you know, it takes you switching up and
- 26:23Speaker 1: doing something with somebody else to see to stir up
- 26:28Speaker 1: the gift in, you know. And that's what's happened on
- 26:31Speaker 1: this album that I realized that my words can be good,
- 26:35Speaker 1: and that that they are important, and that they're not
- 26:38Speaker 1: too small, that they can be that they can be used.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Absolutely know that she's talking about Philip Bryant and my
- 26:44Speaker 1: boy are Kurt Franklin knows only Travis Green, who I love.
- 26:49Speaker 1: I loved it. I gotta get back on the show.
- 26:51Speaker 1: And then you have my bar. I called him the
- 26:53Speaker 1: church outlaw, Todd, the lady, the church all tell him outlaw.
- 27:02Speaker 1: That is good for him. How you get the church outlaw?
- 27:05Speaker 1: All your church girl huh overcome punkrock? He did it
- 27:11Speaker 1: for me. I called Tied and I said, Tod, I
- 27:15Speaker 1: wanted to talk about finishing. I said, I wanted to
- 27:19Speaker 1: talk about the work that we've begun in the Lord
- 27:21Speaker 1: to finish. And when I tell you, he called me
- 27:24Speaker 1: back and I was it was a scratch of him
- 27:27Speaker 1: playing on the piano and I said, man, I said,
- 27:31Speaker 1: this is it. So we wound up going to Chicago
- 27:35Speaker 1: with his band and singers and recording it live with
- 27:40Speaker 1: his producer, and man, I tell you, it was so
- 27:49Speaker 1: it was like a heavenly experience. And we was in
- 27:51Speaker 1: a in a sanctuary with just us and just a
- 27:54Speaker 1: very few people that work in the church. But when
- 27:57Speaker 1: I tell you, it was like the Lord met us there.
- 27:59Speaker 1: And I'm I'm so excited because it's like another side
- 28:03Speaker 1: of me that no one's seen or heard on finished work.
- 28:07Speaker 1: And I'm just I'm just geet and nervous forever. You know.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Of course, when you come with new music, you don't
- 28:13Speaker 1: know what people gonna receive and all that. But I
- 28:16Speaker 1: just believe in my heart that that God has given
- 28:19Speaker 1: me it's gonna really be able to bless the people.
- 28:22Speaker 1: And that's my goal, is to bring hope, inspiration and
- 28:25Speaker 1: let people know that the mercies of God still exist
- 28:28Speaker 1: on this earth and everybody is not out to get us,
- 28:31Speaker 1: and that we can accomplish those things that God has
- 28:34Speaker 1: begun on us. He's a healer that he can heal
- 28:37Speaker 1: us of all manner of diseases that's going on in
- 28:39Speaker 1: the world. We don't have to walk in fear. If
- 28:42Speaker 1: we do what we need to do and do what
- 28:44Speaker 1: we're supposed to do, we're gonna work out and we're
- 28:46Speaker 1: gonna be fine. One of my all time favorites. And
- 28:51Speaker 1: when she did the amazing Grace and i'ma be honest
- 28:55Speaker 1: with you, Um, every time I see you, I see
- 28:59Speaker 1: I see that moment, And there's gonna be a moment
- 29:02Speaker 1: when you're gonna just settle into understanding all your blessings.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Like that's why this album is special, Overcome Up, because
- 29:08Speaker 1: you you finally stepped past the things and said, my
- 29:10Speaker 1: words have value. You know, I can write it down
- 29:14Speaker 1: and it's gonna mean something to somebody else because it
- 29:16Speaker 1: means something to meet. The next thing is going to
- 29:19Speaker 1: be like that journey you went up to Chicago and
- 29:22Speaker 1: did with Todd. The next half, all y'all gonna be
- 29:25Speaker 1: in the room. Travis Green gonna be in the room
- 29:27Speaker 1: with you, Kurt Franklin gonna be in the room, Philip
- 29:29Speaker 1: Bryan gonna Kimbro gonna be in the room with you,
- 29:32Speaker 1: and it's gonna be about you telling everybody you know
- 29:37Speaker 1: about the King about he did it for me, talk
- 29:41Speaker 1: about the conqueror, talking about all these journeys that means something.
- 29:44Speaker 1: And I just want to let you know this, this
- 29:47Speaker 1: album is a blessing for you because finally, I think
- 29:51Speaker 1: that's the final step. Because you know, every time I
- 29:54Speaker 1: interview you, I'm always I love David, I'm always stepping
- 29:57Speaker 1: into you because I know you a person, how all
- 30:00Speaker 1: these great talent you kind of background in a little bit,
- 30:03Speaker 1: and David has pushed you out there, and finally you
- 30:06Speaker 1: fill the anointment of who and what you can be.
- 30:09Speaker 1: I just I was just so happy for you. I
- 30:10Speaker 1: am so happy for you. Thank you so much. You look,
- 30:13Speaker 1: you're bringing tears to me. That's great, you know. I
- 30:19Speaker 1: know then and then you know, every time I come
- 30:21Speaker 1: on this show, I got to talk about the family
- 30:23Speaker 1: because you mentioned your daughter earlier. And you know, y'all
- 30:26Speaker 1: y'all went out on tour a couple years before the pandemic.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Was all of the country doing there the telling man
- 30:31Speaker 1: entertainment to him talk about the family. Your eyes all
- 30:35Speaker 1: coming together, how they how they how they went through
- 30:37Speaker 1: the pandemic and all that good stuff. Just just talk
- 30:39Speaker 1: about the journey that you and your husband are putting
- 30:42Speaker 1: together in the future that you're gonna have for us,
- 30:44Speaker 1: because we already know you got movies coming out, TV
- 30:46Speaker 1: shows coming out, Alvin Overcoming coming out. What's coming out
- 30:49Speaker 1: with you and your husband. I gotta go back to
- 30:51Speaker 1: the family core. Not my daughter till the youngest one
- 30:55Speaker 1: vocal produced me in the album. She had her hand
- 30:59Speaker 1: and everything. Uh, and her her boyfriend name is Justin Pierson.
- 31:03Speaker 1: They're actually sitting right here with me right now, and
- 31:06Speaker 1: it's amazing how they were able to help. They took
- 31:10Speaker 1: a relief off of David Sr. And they were they
- 31:15Speaker 1: stepped into the role, and I mean they really stepped
- 31:17Speaker 1: into the role to help me with this thing. And
- 31:21Speaker 1: it's been incredible just to see her develop and and
- 31:25Speaker 1: for her skills to come out, and for all of
- 31:28Speaker 1: us to see that this hidden and fear that she's had.
- 31:32Speaker 1: It's like, finally she's stepping into herself and into her
- 31:36Speaker 1: own and you know, even like everybody, you know, with
- 31:39Speaker 1: my other daughter that works in the in the company Porsche,
- 31:42Speaker 1: and then David Jr. Everybody is finding their rightful place,
- 31:47Speaker 1: which is causing the company to grow. And you know,
- 31:51Speaker 1: I have to pray hard because once everything gets really smooth,
- 31:54Speaker 1: the enemy tries to show his head and and it's like,
- 31:58Speaker 1: of course, to try to bring discord and make try
- 32:01Speaker 1: to mess things up. But he's doing his job. That's
- 32:03Speaker 1: why I have to steal on my job praying. And
- 32:06Speaker 1: we have to steal on our job in what we
- 32:08Speaker 1: need to be doing and stand in our lane to
- 32:11Speaker 1: make this thing grow. Because even as individuals, they have
- 32:15Speaker 1: great talents of their own that I really appreciate. You
- 32:18Speaker 1: thank God for the Lord stirring up. But I always
- 32:21Speaker 1: tell them you gotta keep God at your base if
- 32:23Speaker 1: you want to be blessed. This is how your mom
- 32:25Speaker 1: and dad has been blessed. It's been the favor of God.
- 32:28Speaker 1: It's been God keeping his hand on our lives. I
- 32:31Speaker 1: can't take no credit for none of it. It's all
- 32:34Speaker 1: been God using us and be directing us. We know, um.
- 32:39Speaker 1: We laugh with her. We've seen her grow as a
- 32:42Speaker 1: young lady, as a as a wife, as a mom,
- 32:46Speaker 1: and but the new CD, an overcoming Kamelaman has been
- 32:50Speaker 1: more involved than ever in this songwriting, lending her input
- 32:54Speaker 1: to nearly every track. Never actually been more creative with
- 32:57Speaker 1: her vision, been more powerful or heart more than this
- 33:00Speaker 1: collection upon your songs the past few years. You've seen
- 33:03Speaker 1: the physical setbacks, you've seen overcome. You've seen her smile
- 33:07Speaker 1: when she had paint and all paint and her body.
- 33:09Speaker 1: But what never stopped me is telling you I love you,
- 33:13Speaker 1: telling you I love your husband, and thank you for
- 33:15Speaker 1: coming on Money Making Conversations again. Thank you so much,
- 33:18Speaker 1: Thank you. This has been a joy today. You got
- 33:22Speaker 1: you got me hyped up. Well. I hope whoever's after
- 33:25Speaker 1: you today is gonna be as hype. I know it
- 33:27Speaker 1: not because you you You got your own you got
- 33:32Speaker 1: your own pain. You're in the lane out about yourself.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Thank you so much for shocks as usual. You're a
- 33:38Speaker 1: blessing to me and you're a blessing to our community.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Thank you for sharing and bringing us some good information.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Cool. We will be right back
- 33:47Speaker 1: with more money Making Conversations with your host, Rashan McDonald.
- 33:52Speaker 1: You are now tuned into the Money Making Conversations Minute
- 33:56Speaker 1: of Inspiration with Rashan McDonald Hollywood, super produced to Will
- 34:00Speaker 1: Packer has produced films that have earned more than one
- 34:03Speaker 1: billion dollars at the box office. Will Packard tells me
- 34:05Speaker 1: why marketing his brand as a producer wasn't normal in Hollywood. Well,
- 34:10Speaker 1: when I came in as a producer, I knew how
- 34:12Speaker 1: important it was to connect with an artist. That really
- 34:15Speaker 1: started with my journey at Family because I made my
- 34:18Speaker 1: first film project, which was Chocolate City, while I was
- 34:22Speaker 1: still an undergraduate at Family, I was a junior. We
- 34:26Speaker 1: shot Chocolate City, this a little bitty movie, and in
- 34:28Speaker 1: order for that film to be successful, I had to
- 34:30Speaker 1: go out to my artience, my core audience, and I
- 34:34Speaker 1: realized I needed to go out and explain to that
- 34:37Speaker 1: audience why they should care about this film. And that
- 34:39Speaker 1: really started something that I still do to this day,
- 34:42Speaker 1: which is going out and trying to touch people with
- 34:45Speaker 1: every project that I had. If you want to hear

- 36:21Speaker 1: Welcome back to money making conversations with your host Rashaan McDonald.
- 36:26Speaker 1: My next guest is Alan Maldonado. A smile when I
- 36:29Speaker 1: say that name. He's an actor, writer, director, and entrepreneur.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Among his films and TV critics include Straight Out of Compton,
- 36:36Speaker 1: Equalizing Cake, Sony's remake of The Superfly, the Netflix movie
- 36:40Speaker 1: Project Power, the Netflix series Sneakerheads, the TVs TV series
- 36:44Speaker 1: The Last O, g Blackish, You're the Worst, and many more.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Now that is the past. Now this is what's coming
- 36:51Speaker 1: up new and the movies and on TV. Alan starting
- 36:55Speaker 1: a new Stars action back series Heels Plus this fall.
- 36:59Speaker 1: He'll be starting in the Wonder Year's reboot for ABC,
- 37:02Speaker 1: the House Party movie reboot, and Psyche three. This is
- 37:05Speaker 1: Gus three quote movie for Peacock. Please working the money
- 37:09Speaker 1: and make comfortation. He's smiling, man, because I love talking
- 37:11Speaker 1: to a man, actor, writer, director and entrepreneur. My man,
- 37:15Speaker 1: Alan Maldonado. Hey you doing, Alan, I'm excellent, man, Thank
- 37:20Speaker 1: you so much. What an incredible intro. I appreciate it. Man.
- 37:24Speaker 1: I'm over here listening liqually as you go down the list, like,
- 37:27Speaker 1: oh man, I was on all that stuff. But you
- 37:31Speaker 1: know something, Alan, every time you come on the show,
- 37:33Speaker 1: you know, like I said, man, we've been having this
- 37:36Speaker 1: relationship going on four years, you know, uh, you know,
- 37:40Speaker 1: and and just watching watching the growth because we you know,
- 37:43Speaker 1: because we really started talking about the entrepreneurship side of you,
- 37:47Speaker 1: what you were doing in Hollywood and how he was
- 37:49Speaker 1: making a difference. And and now it's being overwhelmed by
- 37:52Speaker 1: your talent as an actor, which has always been out there,
- 37:55Speaker 1: but it's now starting to be recognized on so many levels.
- 37:58Speaker 1: How are you able to balance that? And all you
- 38:01Speaker 1: are is being able to balance the acting. Is it
- 38:03Speaker 1: taking you away from the entrepreneurship side or you're being
- 38:06Speaker 1: a balance both? Wow? Man, I guess how what's the
- 38:11Speaker 1: best way to put it? Put it all in perspective? Um? Well,
- 38:15Speaker 1: for me, I had to understand balance. I had to
- 38:17Speaker 1: understand balance, as you know. And in the last four years,
- 38:20Speaker 1: and you know, it's been it's been crazy, it's been.
- 38:24Speaker 1: It's been in a good way. Um. God has given
- 38:28Speaker 1: me everything I wanted and it's one of those things
- 38:30Speaker 1: where it's like, Okay, this is what you've been asking
- 38:33Speaker 1: for for years. Now go do something with it. Um. So,
- 38:37Speaker 1: just a balance between work and rest and relaxation has
- 38:42Speaker 1: been the biggest challenge and the biggest thing that I
- 38:45Speaker 1: know is important. Um As you know, those four or
- 38:49Speaker 1: five years where I was doing Blackish, Survivors, Remors, You're
- 38:53Speaker 1: the Words, all these things simultaneously while writing and starting
- 38:57Speaker 1: on other shows, I burned myself out. I'm not gonna lie,
- 39:00Speaker 1: you know. So, uh, after the quarantine, I really made
- 39:05Speaker 1: it my business to make sure I have a proper
- 39:07Speaker 1: balance between working and working extremely hard as I do,
- 39:11Speaker 1: and then finding time to get those breaks where either
- 39:14Speaker 1: just a three day vacation, two day vacation or daycare
- 39:18Speaker 1: or whatever like. I just have to be adamant, just
- 39:21Speaker 1: as focused and goal driven for business and acting success,
- 39:27Speaker 1: I gotta be just as driven in my personal and
- 39:31Speaker 1: self care. Absolutely. I'm talking to interviewing Alan maldon Alto.
- 39:35Speaker 1: I remember when you first came on Money Making Conversation,
- 39:37Speaker 1: it was Survivor's Remorse, which out of Lebron James's company,
- 39:42Speaker 1: and then I brought him back. It was it was
- 39:44Speaker 1: the Last O G which was changed, and then I
- 39:48Speaker 1: brought him. After that was Project Power on Netflix with
- 39:51Speaker 1: and that's with Jamie Fox, and now bringing you back
- 39:54Speaker 1: for a serious and not just one. It's a series
- 39:57Speaker 1: of things, which is really beautiful and uh, and let's
- 40:00Speaker 1: talk about Heels. You know, because on social media, you know,
- 40:03Speaker 1: you let everybody know you got some fitness going on
- 40:05Speaker 1: in your life. You know, I know it makes me
- 40:07Speaker 1: feel bad, but I'm alright up older than him, so
- 40:10Speaker 1: I don't take it personal. But if you're young like him,
- 40:13Speaker 1: you might want to take it personal. Not follow his
- 40:17Speaker 1: feed sometimes because he's looking good. So finally, all that personal.
- 40:21Speaker 1: So that's why I like about your alum. You know,
- 40:23Speaker 1: you prepare for success and we don't know where it's
- 40:26Speaker 1: gonna come from. And because you're doing all that personal
- 40:30Speaker 1: training and some people say, man, why are you doing
- 40:32Speaker 1: the work off? You know what you're going for you
- 40:34Speaker 1: and you just never know where your opportunities are going
- 40:36Speaker 1: to come. And because of that, you are with additional
- 40:40Speaker 1: training that they've given you are pretty much wasn't shocked
- 40:43Speaker 1: by the request of this level of fitness, physical fitness
- 40:46Speaker 1: that they need for this series that's on Stars called Heels. Yeah,
- 40:51Speaker 1: I wasn't. I wasn't shocked at all. Man. Um I had, uh,
- 40:56Speaker 1: just a quick story as more of a testimony than
- 40:59Speaker 1: anything in um. You know, two years ago, like I said,
- 41:03Speaker 1: I kind of burnt myself out and I had to
- 41:05Speaker 1: recharge mentally, physically, spiritual and all those things. And God
- 41:10Speaker 1: put it on my heart to get stronger and uh
- 41:12Speaker 1: be more um focused on my you know, self care
- 41:15Speaker 1: and personal fitness. And in that conversation, uh, he gave
- 41:20Speaker 1: me the crazy notion to run marathons. So I began
- 41:25Speaker 1: to run training for marathons in Spain while I was
- 41:28Speaker 1: shooting a film out there, uh called American Carnates that
- 41:31Speaker 1: would be out I think next year as well. Um
- 41:35Speaker 1: it was. I ran four marathons in five months. I
- 41:40Speaker 1: ran in New York Marathon, the Disney Marathon, the Miami Marathon,
- 41:45Speaker 1: and the l A Marathon. And a week after I
- 41:49Speaker 1: ran the March the l A Marathon, which is my
- 41:51Speaker 1: fourth marathon. Uh, I booked hills. So it was one
- 41:56Speaker 1: of those things where God told me to do something
- 41:58Speaker 1: to get prepared for two years ago for an opportunity
- 42:01Speaker 1: that came you know later down the line. So uh,
- 42:04Speaker 1: it was just me meeting up with my blessings. Um
- 42:07Speaker 1: that's how this whole kind of fitness kind of journey
- 42:10Speaker 1: begin with that, you know, wholeheartedly. It was. It was
- 42:14Speaker 1: very selfish simpleness and I respect because I always tell
- 42:19Speaker 1: people people look at me that you know we're shard.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Do you go sleep? Because I always tell people I'm
- 42:25Speaker 1: never shocked by my opportunities because I'm always preparing for
- 42:28Speaker 1: my opportunities. And I've always felt that about you when
- 42:31Speaker 1: I'm talking to you, because we have a good time.
- 42:34Speaker 1: But we always always see activity in your eyes, and
- 42:37Speaker 1: your eyes tell me your brains active. You know what
- 42:39Speaker 1: I'm saying, because you always this conversation is just one
- 42:41Speaker 1: a minute that's going that's happening in your life as
- 42:44Speaker 1: supposed to happen in your life. Now. When I saw
- 42:46Speaker 1: the show Heels, know that I am a wrestling fan
- 42:49Speaker 1: from the from from elementary school. Okay, well that's how
- 42:53Speaker 1: fall back I go. And so the series Heels when
- 42:57Speaker 1: it's being advertised on Stars has my man who started
- 43:01Speaker 1: who blew up in Fame on the series Vikings. If
- 43:03Speaker 1: you have not seen the series Vikings, plead it's an
- 43:06Speaker 1: incredible series. And then also a man who started in
- 43:09Speaker 1: this series Arrow, which is on the seat of your platform.
- 43:13Speaker 1: When those guys, I went, I got to watch that,
- 43:16Speaker 1: and then I started seeing the trailers and then I
- 43:19Speaker 1: guess who popped up one of my favorite people, Alan
- 43:22Speaker 1: mauldin Off and guess what you were sitting just like
- 43:24Speaker 1: that with short sleeves and your heck no, he's showing off.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Yea man. Now working with those guys are incredible, I
- 43:35Speaker 1: got I must say that. Shout out to our showrunner
- 43:39Speaker 1: Michael O'Malley, uh, and just everybody has stars for collecting
- 43:44Speaker 1: a group of actors that are extraordinary. Um. You know,
- 43:49Speaker 1: it's a dream team. Man. You you wake up as
- 43:53Speaker 1: an artist in you dream of being surrounded by people
- 43:57Speaker 1: that share your same passion, your drive, your intensity to
- 44:03Speaker 1: uh being an artist. And that's the cast appeels and
- 44:08Speaker 1: everybody down even shout out to you know, my biggest bro,
- 44:13Speaker 1: James Harrison, who I often tease and I'm the little
- 44:16Speaker 1: brother that he never asked for. But even with him
- 44:19Speaker 1: being this being his first series as an actor, he
- 44:22Speaker 1: came in and showed up and showed out as an
- 44:25Speaker 1: elite athlete, prepared um and giving it his all. And
- 44:31Speaker 1: that was It's an incredible environment and that's what I'm
- 44:34Speaker 1: excited for people to see just all of these talented
- 44:37Speaker 1: people come together and we kind of just you know,
- 44:40Speaker 1: form the Avengers on screen and it's it's just beautiful.
- 44:43Speaker 1: It's beautiful. Man. I can't wait for people to say
- 44:46Speaker 1: now when he said, James Harrison look a little background
- 44:48Speaker 1: on an incredible linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers who ran
- 44:52Speaker 1: back that touchdown and like ran over like fifteen people
- 44:55Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl and playoffs on Super Bowl for touchdown.
- 44:59Speaker 1: It was a super Bowl supero. I was there. He
- 45:01Speaker 1: don't ever try to claim that I was there with him,
- 45:06Speaker 1: but he always they always neglect me out of NFL history.
- 45:09Speaker 1: But it's all right because you know, he's a workout freak.
- 45:12Speaker 1: That's one thing. That's one thing for sure. If you
- 45:15Speaker 1: think you can work out, Alla, hang around James Harrison
- 45:18Speaker 1: because I had I had a good fortune of meeting
- 45:21Speaker 1: him when I was with Steve Harvey on the Steve
- 45:23Speaker 1: Harvey Talk Show. He didn't talk show, and we sat
- 45:26Speaker 1: down my office, had a good conversation because he's a character.
- 45:28Speaker 1: He's a character and he will tell you what's on
- 45:32Speaker 1: his mind. If you if you're sitting across from him, Ala,
- 45:34Speaker 1: we're talking about James Harrison, and you don't want the
- 45:37Speaker 1: truth or some positive feedback that might become negative that
- 45:41Speaker 1: you expected what they say, hold back his words. You're
- 45:45Speaker 1: talking no, not at all, no, no, But but that's
- 45:51Speaker 1: the type of person because he's competitive, he's gonna push
- 45:53Speaker 1: you towards your greatness. When you're talking about that, talking
- 45:56Speaker 1: about working with him, I got I got the chance
- 45:59Speaker 1: to train him for nine months. So while we were
- 46:02Speaker 1: shooting hills, it was basically a part of our it
- 46:06Speaker 1: was a part of our contract to work out basically
- 46:09Speaker 1: five days out of the week, even when we're shooting
- 46:12Speaker 1: and when we're not shooting. So I took it upon
- 46:16Speaker 1: myself to you know, basically shadow him, shodow him while
- 46:21Speaker 1: he trained. So these are four four or fifteen wake up,
- 46:24Speaker 1: five am. We in the gym, and we're training, and
- 46:27Speaker 1: we're working for at least two hours, um every day,
- 46:31Speaker 1: Monday through Saturday. And I did that with that man
- 46:33Speaker 1: for nine months, and I learned what it takes to
- 46:37Speaker 1: be an elite athlete, the approached, the mental side of it, all,
- 46:41Speaker 1: the physical, the importance of recovery. Like I've learned so
- 46:44Speaker 1: much from from him and um so like it was
- 46:49Speaker 1: life changing to be able to have nine months to
- 46:51Speaker 1: train with such an elite athlete and kind of just
- 46:53Speaker 1: you know, mimic and being inspired by his routine and
- 46:57Speaker 1: and learn, like you know, as an actor, you you you,
- 47:00Speaker 1: you you portray and you portray these type of characters.
- 47:04Speaker 1: But to actually be next to one and befriend one
- 47:07Speaker 1: and kind of pick his brain on how it all
- 47:10Speaker 1: comes together was just another blessing. Now we were talking,
- 47:14Speaker 1: let's let's talk about we're talking about We're talking with
- 47:16Speaker 1: Ala Malton Aldo. We're gonna talk about another project, but
- 47:19Speaker 1: right now we're talking about the stars action drama called Heels.
- 47:22Speaker 1: What's your rolling in? And uh, how do you interact
- 47:24Speaker 1: with the other characters? Rooster Robbins is the name. It's
- 47:29Speaker 1: Rooster time. He is the high flying act of the
- 47:33Speaker 1: show and of the rest of the league. Um. We're
- 47:37Speaker 1: part of this independent wrestling league and Duffy called d
- 47:40Speaker 1: w l UM. I'm one of several wrestlers on the show. Uh,
- 47:45Speaker 1: and you kind of see me go through my growing pains.
- 47:49Speaker 1: I'm a I'm a VET, but I started off as
- 47:52Speaker 1: a young prodigy, so you kind of see the frustration
- 47:55Speaker 1: of uh in the eagerness to get to the next
- 47:58Speaker 1: level in this series. It's a drama, So I know
- 48:02Speaker 1: people used to me being in comedies as of late.
- 48:05Speaker 1: But I'm excited to be able to flex that and
- 48:08Speaker 1: just remind people, Like, you know, the last five years,
- 48:12Speaker 1: people have known me for my comedy, but you know,
- 48:14Speaker 1: I've been doing this a long time and like the
- 48:16Speaker 1: first ten years in my career, I did nothing but
- 48:18Speaker 1: dramatic work. So I'm excited to kind of flex that
- 48:23Speaker 1: muscle and and remind people that I can. You know,
- 48:25Speaker 1: I'm all around. Well. The special thing about that when
- 48:28Speaker 1: I watched Kevin Hart, you know, and can flex his
- 48:31Speaker 1: his his drama muscle, and I watch you. But like
- 48:34Speaker 1: I said, because you do so many different projects, that
- 48:36Speaker 1: lets me know you can do this too, because you're
- 48:38Speaker 1: not to me pigeonholes. As far as any of the
- 48:41Speaker 1: roles that you play, because they all are different, they
- 48:43Speaker 1: all involved some research, like this involved some research. But
- 48:48Speaker 1: more importantly, I gotta ask you the physicality of this
- 48:51Speaker 1: particular role because of the fact that you know, you
- 48:54Speaker 1: see you know, the Friday Night Wrastling or the USA
- 48:57Speaker 1: Wrastling on fridayn Fox. These guys coming off that turn vocal,
- 49:02Speaker 1: hitting that hitting that floor. Talk about that training and
- 49:06Speaker 1: how you were able to recover because you talk about
- 49:08Speaker 1: recovering from things like that, and then when you were
- 49:11Speaker 1: doing the training process, that meant when you had to
- 49:14Speaker 1: have the confidence that you will be all right when
- 49:17Speaker 1: you finally hit the mat right. Well, you know that's
- 49:20Speaker 1: what the importance of the weight training and like stretching
- 49:24Speaker 1: was something that I really grew to love while shooting
- 49:28Speaker 1: the show and again working with James, like the importance
- 49:30Speaker 1: of it. I never really stretched before like an idiot,
- 49:33Speaker 1: but now it's it's a part of my routine where
- 49:36Speaker 1: I got like thirty minutes uh before and after every
- 49:40Speaker 1: workout that I'm I'm stretching in the importance of that.
- 49:43Speaker 1: So with that being said, training and all of the
- 49:46Speaker 1: wrestling routines that we would learn, and we had a
- 49:49Speaker 1: fantastic group of stunt doubles. Um. You know, I was
- 49:52Speaker 1: blessed to be able to do most of my stunts. Uh,
- 49:56Speaker 1: I was excited. I was that six year old kid
- 49:59Speaker 1: jumping off a outes, you know. So anytime they would
- 50:02Speaker 1: have asked me to do this ridiculous stunt and I
- 50:05Speaker 1: always took a beat because the grown Maldonado was like
- 50:10Speaker 1: many on this like come on, chill, chick, six year
- 50:16Speaker 1: old maldon I was like, what are you talking about?
- 50:19Speaker 1: This is what we dreamed. Uh, Jumpy got a a
- 50:22Speaker 1: rig front flipping back rope, back flipping off the top ropes,
- 50:26Speaker 1: backflipping on, James Harrison, jumping on, jumping out of the ring, flipping.
- 50:30Speaker 1: I said, you know what, I want to do it
- 50:32Speaker 1: all and I want to experience what it feels like
- 50:35Speaker 1: to be a real wrestler. And wrestling is real. It's predetermined,
- 50:41Speaker 1: but it's real. Those those those um hitting, that hitting
- 50:45Speaker 1: that canvas is real. And it gets even really after
- 50:49Speaker 1: you get close lines seven times in a row by
- 50:52Speaker 1: James Harrison. So definitely by nine. By the ninth month
- 50:58Speaker 1: of us filming this thing, Uh, my body was It's
- 51:02Speaker 1: a it's a toll on my body. I was definitely needed.
- 51:05Speaker 1: Uh it must need a vacation. Hi everyone, I'll roker
- 51:08Speaker 1: here as a guy with his own catchphrase. I appreciate
- 51:11Speaker 1: that Smokey's only said only you can prevent wildfires, but
- 51:15Speaker 1: I'm filling it because there's a lot more to report,
- 51:18Speaker 1: like when they're parched or windy conditions out there. You've
- 51:21Speaker 1: gotta be extra careful with things like burning yard wage.
- 51:25Speaker 1: After all, wildfires can start anywhere even in your neck

- 51:47Speaker 1: Wacome mile in my shoes. Shoes. We've all felt left out,

- 52:03Speaker 1: Welcome out the You know, I really I'm happy you're
- 52:08Speaker 1: saying about wrestling is real because you know, when you do,
- 52:12Speaker 1: you do action scenes and moving. When you're fighting, you
- 52:15Speaker 1: can throw a punch, you know, when you they shooting
- 52:17Speaker 1: it there certainly looks like it made contact. But wrestling
- 52:21Speaker 1: plays itself in front of a live audience, so there
- 52:24Speaker 1: has to be some degree of physical contact. Alum, that's
- 52:27Speaker 1: what you're talking about, you know, So when when that
- 52:29Speaker 1: um hits you, it actually is gonna make contact with
- 52:32Speaker 1: your body if you know it's gonna make contact, So
- 52:34Speaker 1: you have to react to it so you won't make
- 52:37Speaker 1: full contact and knock yourself out. So when you were
- 52:40Speaker 1: going through that process, like you said that, the the
- 52:43Speaker 1: older version you said, whoa, whoa, I got another project
- 52:47Speaker 1: coming up. I want to get up from this math.
- 52:49Speaker 1: The younger versions of Hey, brother, you know we've been
- 52:52Speaker 1: waiting on this. We gotta do it now. So when
- 52:55Speaker 1: did you get confident that this is something you can do?
- 52:57Speaker 1: I know you wanted to do it. Was it just
- 52:59Speaker 1: talking to the stock doubles just are just sitting down
- 53:02Speaker 1: and looking at the whole step step process of walking
- 53:05Speaker 1: it through that you were Okay, I'm cool with this now.
- 53:08Speaker 1: It's it's simple. Man. I wouldn't let James out do
- 53:16Speaker 1: like like for real, man, Like you know, James is ridiculous. Man,
- 53:20Speaker 1: I love that dude. Like he's a premier athlete. He's
- 53:25Speaker 1: in there doing backflips and all this other stuff, and
- 53:27Speaker 1: I'm just sitting there like, man, I can't, I can't
- 53:30Speaker 1: go out like that. Let me go ahead and do
- 53:32Speaker 1: this back flip. He definitely inspired me to take a
- 53:37Speaker 1: lot of risk and challenges I probably wouldn't have done
- 53:39Speaker 1: if he weren't there to be honest, just because we
- 53:41Speaker 1: have this healthy competition. Um, we're not even that competition.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Like I said, he inspires me to train it harder,
- 53:49Speaker 1: uh and do things better and you know, incorrectly because
- 53:54Speaker 1: that was what a lot of things that he was
- 53:56Speaker 1: doing and fixing with the things I was training. Um.
- 54:00Speaker 1: But now, to be totally honest, I'll keep it a buck.
- 54:03Speaker 1: It was I didn't wanna let James out do me
- 54:06Speaker 1: by back clipping in the MEI me not back clipping
- 54:10Speaker 1: myself as well. So it was it was one of
- 54:12Speaker 1: those things we kept pushing each other. I love it. Now,
- 54:14Speaker 1: you know the whole problem, Like the whole good thing
- 54:17Speaker 1: about this whole show is that it's on Stars. You
- 54:20Speaker 1: wanted the stars of the series. It's called Heels that's
- 54:22Speaker 1: premiered on the Stars Network. Now, the great thing about
- 54:25Speaker 1: whenever I talked to Ala Malda, although it's never stops
- 54:28Speaker 1: at one conversation, y'all, it's always what the great thing
- 54:33Speaker 1: about you? You hear people hype stuff, Well, you know
- 54:35Speaker 1: when you deadline dot com, that's the variety. You know,
- 54:40Speaker 1: he's on Deadline dot Com. That's like the ultimate online
- 54:44Speaker 1: digital shout out for something big in Hollywood. Now he's
- 54:48Speaker 1: been in deadline so much because I get the alerts,
- 54:50Speaker 1: so I'll be knowing about Alabauta dollar, Alibata dollar. So,
- 54:56Speaker 1: my man, you got the Wonder Years reboot, that's a
- 54:59Speaker 1: Don Cheer project from for ABC. You got the House
- 55:03Speaker 1: Party movie, Move Movie, Reboat Rebirth. That's through Lebron James's
- 55:07Speaker 1: company here, and that's the Lebron James we all know.
- 55:10Speaker 1: Just wrapped up Space JF two number one Moving in
- 55:13Speaker 1: the country. Do you have side three? This is Gus.
- 55:15Speaker 1: That's a three quoal for the Peacock Network. Let's start
- 55:18Speaker 1: with the Wonder Years reboot. Your role, how you got
- 55:22Speaker 1: involved in that? And that's on ABC? Uh that will
- 55:27Speaker 1: I played coach Long. Um. I'm also the father to um,
- 55:34Speaker 1: the best friend of the show. Uh so Um how
- 55:38Speaker 1: Wonder Years came about Saladeine Patterson as the show runners
- 55:41Speaker 1: shout out to Saladein, Um incredible writer, incredible person overall.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Uh the honor of working with him, uh at the
- 55:52Speaker 1: writer's room because he show ran lass o. G So
- 55:56Speaker 1: when the opportunity came where there was a role, Uh
- 56:00Speaker 1: that I suit I was suited for. Um he just
- 56:02Speaker 1: reached out and Um, you know, made the phone call
- 56:05Speaker 1: and we worked it all out. Uh. We had our
- 56:08Speaker 1: prior you know, working working relationship with the last o
- 56:11Speaker 1: G and we worked so well together. It was you know,
- 56:13Speaker 1: it was a no brainer, UM going in and just
- 56:16Speaker 1: shout out to do le Um who we also started
- 56:21Speaker 1: the Psyche movie, which spawned from how well we worked
- 56:26Speaker 1: together on Wonder Years and a Wonder Years pilot. So
- 56:30Speaker 1: I mean, I'm a I'm a big believer in work
- 56:32Speaker 1: gets you more work, and that's how I've built my
- 56:36Speaker 1: career of just being consistent, being on time, being professional, UM,
- 56:41Speaker 1: trying my best to supersede anyone's expectations of what they
- 56:46Speaker 1: what they want out of whatever character I deliver on screen.
- 56:50Speaker 1: And that's how all of this stuff continues to happen. Man.
- 56:54Speaker 1: So I'm blessed, and I look forward to just continuing
- 56:59Speaker 1: the consistent work ethic and just giving him all as
- 57:02Speaker 1: an artist. Man, I really, I really, really really love
- 57:05Speaker 1: this acting thing. I don't want to short change you know, actor, writer, director, entrepreneur.
- 57:15Speaker 1: You know, in the writer's room in Blackish, you know,
- 57:18Speaker 1: we all talked about this. So you know, sometimes I'm
- 57:21Speaker 1: jealous of you because I was in the writer's room,
- 57:22Speaker 1: but I couldn't act. So you know, so you got
- 57:24Speaker 1: me that, you know what I'm saying, I could tell
- 57:26Speaker 1: a joke, but I couldn't that. So you still got
- 57:28Speaker 1: me that I could direct but I couldn't that. So
- 57:30Speaker 1: you know, you always go top. Regan McDonald, is that
- 57:34Speaker 1: what you talked about was relationships and a lot of
- 57:37Speaker 1: people that don't understand that really is the value. And
- 57:40Speaker 1: black actors now are starting to get relationships with people
- 57:44Speaker 1: that look like us. They are making phone calls. You know,
- 57:48Speaker 1: used to be Spike Lee was the only black person
- 57:49Speaker 1: that can make phone calls, you know, but now there
- 57:51Speaker 1: are other black people in this business starting to make
- 57:54Speaker 1: phone calls and becoming decision makers. And you create these
- 57:57Speaker 1: relationships and into making you feel comfortable about the future
- 58:00Speaker 1: and what you can do not only as an actor
- 58:03Speaker 1: but as a writer and a director, because you want
- 58:05Speaker 1: to bring your own projects to the screen, whether it's
- 58:07Speaker 1: small or large. Correct, Yeah, I mean that's I mean
- 58:11Speaker 1: life has built off relationships, not just you know, entertainment.
- 58:15Speaker 1: I think people lose sight that the real value on
- 58:20Speaker 1: this uh this other world is pet the people um
- 58:24Speaker 1: in your relationships. If everything went the dirt. We will
- 58:27Speaker 1: be relying on each other's relationship to survive, whether it
- 58:30Speaker 1: like if this person hunting and this person caught fish,
- 58:33Speaker 1: or this person was good as a blacksmith. For all
- 58:36Speaker 1: these things, um, we had to depend more on what
- 58:39Speaker 1: technology in the way society has built. You're not really
- 58:43Speaker 1: um measured by your talents, your natural talents rather um,
- 58:49Speaker 1: so people try to diminish your worth. Um So overall, man,
- 58:54Speaker 1: I think relationships and being a good person and respecting
- 58:58Speaker 1: one another will get you a very very very long way. Um.
- 59:04Speaker 1: And I'm happy to uh have built a you know,
- 59:08Speaker 1: reputation of being a stand up person and uh professional
- 59:14Speaker 1: at the end of the day. And really just I'm
- 59:16Speaker 1: just a cool dude man, Like I do my work
- 59:18Speaker 1: and go home. Man, we do a lot of good
- 59:21Speaker 1: works and I respect that. Now you went back now
- 59:23Speaker 1: you're doing a movie and went back to my era,
- 59:25Speaker 1: you know House Party reboot. You know that brought back
- 59:28Speaker 1: some memories and the fact that you're inbroughved with it.
- 59:30Speaker 1: You know. Uh, I thleeve Jacob Latimer from The Shy
- 59:34Speaker 1: is uh starting in the movie with you, Uh talk
- 59:37Speaker 1: about that reboot? I know you know back then, Uh
- 59:40Speaker 1: you know, a lot of comedians were involved in a
- 59:42Speaker 1: lot of great comedy actors were involved in it. When
- 59:44Speaker 1: that was approached to you put on your docket, talk
- 59:47Speaker 1: about that experience. Like you said, you have a past
- 59:49Speaker 1: relationship working relationship with Lebron James on Survivor's Remorse, And
- 59:53Speaker 1: that's what I love about you whenever we talk, you
- 59:56Speaker 1: have a clear understanding that, like we've talked about a
- 59:58Speaker 1: few minutes ago, relationships build opportunity, and on that opportunity,
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: you still have to deliver the work, and you don't.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: You don't fall back on I just that's my boy.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: He's gonna take care of you. Going there with the
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: mindset that I still have to deliver in order to
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: get the next opportunity from my board or from my girl.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Correct that it's correct, man um, I think people uh.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: And that's the respect aspect of it all. Just because
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: you're you know, friends are you're closer to one person
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: versus the next, doesn't mean you lose respect for your
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: craft or your job or what they have hired you for.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: And a lot of times we do do that, and
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: it's disrespectful to whoever your friend is. Because it's like, man,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: that's something separate, like I hired you to do something,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: but House Party it is one of those I p
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: s are you know, classics that to be a part
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: of this new version and this new creation of it.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: As you know, you know, people tend to think of
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: reboots as sequels, and that's not really what it is.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: The reboot. It's a different version of this similar world,
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: this coming of age story that we got to experience
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: that impacted the culture in such a way in the
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: early nineties that you know has transferred to to now
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: which is almost thirty years UM. Shout out to Reggie
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: who directed the first one, who's um, you know, the
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: mind and the creation, the brilliance behind the first one.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: He's a part of the reboot as well as an
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: executive producer. So we're in good hands with Lebron. Uh.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: Shout out to Chuck, our director. Um, you know, and
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: we we we were looking in and we're determined to
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: put some very very funny on screen. Now. Yeah, that
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: you know people would enjoy at the end of the day,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: and that's all that matters. You know. Before I go,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: I I'll be remissed. I kind of mentioned their names
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: a little bit. We talked a lot about James co
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: starring with you and the Stars series he years. But
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: you have two leads in there, because I mentioned started
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: in this series, Viking series and also starting the Arrow series.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: Can you talk about that their talents and working with
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: their talents and how how they just incredibly gifted young
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: men and nice people as well. Oh Man, Stephen the
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: Mill uh and Alexander. Um, They're they're pure professionals. Man.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: I love sharing the screen with them. Some of some
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: of my favorite scenes in the series are with them. Um,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: some some really good dramatic work uh and just lions
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: man like we gotta we gotta den for the lions.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: And Stephen the Mill is the captain of the ship
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: man uh. And second up Xander and they set the tone. Um.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: You know there's scenes I've seen with scenes with Xander's
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: throwing chairs and all types of crazy stuff. I love it.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: It's it's it's it's a beautiful, you know, sort of
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: dance that you get the witness close and personal. When
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: you when you get to work with phenomenal actors such
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: as such as them and and along with the entire
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: got Chris Boo like shout out to Chris he plays
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: wild Bill on the show Everybody's Gonna be in Love
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: with wild Bill on this show. Um, Chris is hands
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: down one of my favorite actors to watch work this witness. Uh.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: He's such a pure artist. Uh. And every time, every second, uh,
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: and every frame that you see him in, it's something
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: special when you go get something unique. So I'm telling
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: you it's the whole cast is incredible and oh my god,
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: I just can't wait. Well before I want to end
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: on a personal note, well, well, I'm recording this interview
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: via zoom and in the background I see some tributes
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: to Kobe Bryant in order to see the images that
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: I'm seeing. Obviously, he had an impact on you of users,
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: and it is death. Unfortunately the allowed me to see
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: only do Kobe Bryant the basketball star. You know, I
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: kind of knew about him as Kobe Bryant the Father,
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: but afterwards I realized how he took the time to
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: impact so many people. And I see images of him
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: on your back wall there. Talk about why that's important
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: that you have that on your back wall and Kobe
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: Bryant and why he has an impact in your life. Uh.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: He you know, Mama mentality is the gospel. It's the uh,
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: you know away of life over here for me, man,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: just that type of dedication and that obsession to what
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: you love and to your craft, you know, just the phrases,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: you know, different animals, same beasts, like these are things
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: that ringing my head daily when whenever I'm in pursuit
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: or whatever go, whether it be fitness, mental, personal, spiritually,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: like there is no nos, only yes uh. And and
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: it's a lot inspired by you know, Kobe, watching him work,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: watching watching his um in his rise, his struggles, his wins,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: his losses, um and just his perseverance and his legendary
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: work ethic is what uh you hear about. And only
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: this is gonna the legend is only gonna grow as
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: the stories continue to go. Even in his past and
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: so uh, Kobe personally means a lot of an l
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: a kid as well. So um, we we watched him
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: grow and you know, to see him pass in the
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: manner that he did was just so traumatic and um
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: it's impacted everyone, you know, definitely condolescence to his wife
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: and the kids, like we can only imagine how they
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: feel it being that we felt so heartbroken even though
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: we and me personally. I didn't know him personally at all,
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: so uh uh. Just an incredible human being, incredible inspiration.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: So um, you know, he's definitely at the top of
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: my mouth. Rushmore. As far as the inspiration, I appreciate
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: as I always I appreciate that Ali. We are. We
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: would definitely be seeing you again. It's always about to
