- 2:06Speaker 1: y'all listening to the voice. Come on dig me na
- 2:10Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey got a radio show, got
- 2:13Speaker 1: a go on for you today. Um. Tommy email me,
- 2:19Speaker 1: text me and hit me with a thought this morning
- 2:24Speaker 1: that caused me to thinking a little bit deeper about it.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Sent me a short text, but it was very pointed.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It had a lot of meaning to me. So as
- 2:33Speaker 1: I began to think about this text to me, I
- 2:37Speaker 1: began to think in terms of how I could present
- 2:40Speaker 1: it as a as a learned experience for all of them.
- 2:45Speaker 1: And and the text of Tommy sent me this morning
- 2:47Speaker 1: said that a tree yields fruit seasonally, but even when
- 2:51Speaker 1: it's not yielding, it's still a fruit tree. Don't get
- 2:55Speaker 1: upset not producing at not producing. Your season has come. Men,
- 3:01Speaker 1: if you stay planted, okay, one more time. A fruit
- 3:06Speaker 1: tree yields seasonally, but even when it's not yielding's still
- 3:11Speaker 1: a fruit tree. Don't get upset and not producing because
- 3:15Speaker 1: your season is coming if you stay planted. Okay. Now
- 3:19Speaker 1: that meant something to me this morning, and it caused
- 3:23Speaker 1: me to start to thinking it through a little bit
- 3:26Speaker 1: deeper in terms of what has happened in my life.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Because what here's the deal. The thing that I just
- 3:35Speaker 1: learned recently, recently was about seasons in your life. Seasons.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I was familiar with it all my life. My mother
- 3:47Speaker 1: taught it to me. I've experienced it, but I didn't
- 3:50Speaker 1: really get it into of late. The thing about the
- 3:55Speaker 1: seasons in your life is when we start thinking about
- 3:58Speaker 1: when you hear people in church, or you hear people
- 4:00Speaker 1: say it's your season is coming, boy, you in your season?
- 4:05Speaker 1: You know what was messing me up a little bit
- 4:07Speaker 1: and it might be messing you up. I thought of
- 4:09Speaker 1: seasons just like I did the season's winter, spring, summer
- 4:15Speaker 1: and fall. But I had it on the timeline just
- 4:20Speaker 1: like seasons quarterly a year. So I looked at boy, iss,
- 4:27Speaker 1: your season, Your season is coming. I looked at it
- 4:30Speaker 1: as a short span of time, and then I was
- 4:33Speaker 1: gonna go back to the barrenness of winter, and then
- 4:38Speaker 1: something might happen a little later on in the spring,
- 4:40Speaker 1: and something pop through the ground and flowers show up,
- 4:44Speaker 1: and then they might survive the something. It's good, and
- 4:46Speaker 1: it's going good all summer long, and I'm guiding, I'm
- 4:49Speaker 1: harvesting crops. Then the fall coming start fading. Then when
- 4:52Speaker 1: I go back to suffering the barrenness of winter like
- 4:56Speaker 1: a crop. But here's what I learned earned. You cannot
- 5:04Speaker 1: look at your season in life and the seasons that
- 5:07Speaker 1: we go through with the same eye for seasons as
- 5:13Speaker 1: you do with crops, because God's timeline is totally different. See,
- 5:18Speaker 1: a season to God could be in a really extended
- 5:22Speaker 1: period of time. It could be the duration of your life.
- 5:28Speaker 1: That's what a season is in God's timeline. See God
- 5:32Speaker 1: is expensive man, He's way bigger than the regular thing.
- 5:36Speaker 1: So what may be a season two a farmer, a
- 5:39Speaker 1: season for God could be three hundred years, fifty years,
- 5:43Speaker 1: sixty years, eighty years, you in now. So I had
- 5:47Speaker 1: to learn that because I was afraid that seasonally meant
- 5:52Speaker 1: that this blessing would be for a short period of time.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Then I go back, Then I there come another burst,
- 5:58Speaker 1: and then I go back, and then I fire a
- 6:01Speaker 1: few more nice shots, and I have a nice summer,
- 6:05Speaker 1: you know, and then I started withering away and here
- 6:07Speaker 1: come winter again. The first things first, that's not how
- 6:11Speaker 1: it worked for me, and that's how I had to learn.
- 6:14Speaker 1: So now let's talk about it with that in mind.
- 6:17Speaker 1: See what the text Tommy sent me mental lot to me,
- 6:21Speaker 1: because see, everybody is a fruit tree. We are all
- 6:26Speaker 1: or fruit tree. But here's the key, though, we are
- 6:30Speaker 1: all different kinds of fruit trees. Oh see, that's the difference.
- 6:35Speaker 1: And that's the other thing was tripping me out. See
- 6:38Speaker 1: I I was looking at the other trees trying to
- 6:42Speaker 1: figure out why I wasn't given and burying the same
- 6:47Speaker 1: fruit that they were burying. Why wasn't I a billion now?
- 6:52Speaker 1: Why wasn't I a yacht owner? Why didn't I come
- 6:56Speaker 1: up with the next great idea? Why wasn't either next
- 7:01Speaker 1: big producer? Why wasn't I the next big, major star.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Why wasn't I the one that came up with some
- 7:09Speaker 1: earth shattering idea and invention that would change the scope
- 7:13Speaker 1: of the world and all this money would flow me?
- 7:15Speaker 1: Why wasn't Because that ain't my fruit, that that's not
- 7:19Speaker 1: my tree. See, everybody can't be Steve Jobs. Everybody can't
- 7:25Speaker 1: be the little dude that invented Facebook. Everybody's not gonna
- 7:29Speaker 1: be the guy that comes up with the next invention
- 7:32Speaker 1: that changes the world. You ain't the right, brothers. You
- 7:35Speaker 1: may not be the one to think of flight. But
- 7:38Speaker 1: what is your fruit? Though? See? Your fruit is plenty,
- 7:42Speaker 1: see and and and and what the what the text
- 7:44Speaker 1: was saying, is your fruit? You? You you bare fruit seasonally,
- 7:50Speaker 1: That means it's coming sometimes you still sprouting. Well, when
- 7:53Speaker 1: you're sprouting, you can't have fruit on you yet what
- 7:56Speaker 1: you're tripping for? You just sprouted. You just came came
- 8:00Speaker 1: up through the dirt. You've been hustling and grinding. You
- 8:03Speaker 1: just popped up through the dirt. Now you're a young tree.
- 8:06Speaker 1: You're a bush. Even if you had fruit on it,
- 8:09Speaker 1: your your bark and your limbs ain't strong enough to
- 8:11Speaker 1: hold the fruit. It The the size of the fruit
- 8:15Speaker 1: would break your limbs if you get it too early. Paul,
- 8:19Speaker 1: come on, man, don't you understand this? Now? This is
- 8:22Speaker 1: what this text meant to me. And so when I
- 8:25Speaker 1: while I wanted fruit, I wasn't ready to hold the fruit.
- 8:29Speaker 1: So you gotta strengthen yourself. You gotta get focused, You
- 8:33Speaker 1: gotta be who you're supposed to be. You gotta try hard. God,
- 8:35Speaker 1: the fruit season is coming for you, because everybody is
- 8:39Speaker 1: a fruit tree, and everybody gonna bad fruit. But what
- 8:42Speaker 1: you cannot do is think that. Look if you're a
- 8:47Speaker 1: lemon tree and your fruit that you bears limen. This
- 8:51Speaker 1: is an analogy. Now I'm talking about whatever your gift
- 8:53Speaker 1: is the fruit you bears a lemon tree. But you
- 8:56Speaker 1: look over there and you're looking at the apple archard
- 8:59Speaker 1: and you're going, but them apples is big and red.
- 9:02Speaker 1: More people eat apples, didn't eat lemons. You sell more
- 9:05Speaker 1: apples than you do lemons. Oh that's true. So now
- 9:08Speaker 1: guess what you do. Now? You uproot yourself. You take
- 9:12Speaker 1: yourself up out of who you are and what you
- 9:15Speaker 1: were born to do. You remove yourself from your gift.
- 9:19Speaker 1: You take yourself all out of who you really are
- 9:22Speaker 1: going over there trying to be an apple tree. When
- 9:26Speaker 1: God made you the lemon tree. Now guess what now
- 9:30Speaker 1: you're all about the soil. You ain't root it no more,
- 9:34Speaker 1: can't no nutrients come up through your roots to even
- 9:37Speaker 1: feed the lemons that he that He bore you to have.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Now you're over there trying to be an apple something
- 9:42Speaker 1: you ain't got no bus of it. Well, ain't no
- 9:44Speaker 1: room and the apple archard for the lemon tree. Now
- 9:48Speaker 1: you wonder why you can't get your roots down in there,
- 9:50Speaker 1: why they ain't accepting you? Now you're bearing man, old,
- 9:54Speaker 1: woe is me, Lord, you'll never get me no fruit.
- 9:57Speaker 1: It's because you keep moving. Let's keep you keep taking
- 10:00Speaker 1: yourself out of who you are. You keep removing yourself
- 10:04Speaker 1: some from the soil that you was planted in. You
- 10:08Speaker 1: keep taking yourself out your orchard. Stop trying to be
- 10:11Speaker 1: an apple. If you was born to be a limit.
- 10:13Speaker 1: What's wrong with lemons? I like lemonade. A lot of
- 10:17Speaker 1: people I know like lemonade. Lemonade. If you stay focused
- 10:20Speaker 1: with it, you might be the only one with the
- 10:22Speaker 1: good lemons. Now, everybody to need limons gotta come to you,
- 10:26Speaker 1: oh man. But if you keep uprooting yourself moving. You're
- 10:30Speaker 1: never batter fruit that you was born to bare. Everybody
- 10:34Speaker 1: is a fruit tree. But you got to stay planet man.
- 10:38Speaker 1: You gotta stay nourished. You gotta talk to your creator
- 10:41Speaker 1: who made you, and find out what fruit you're supposed
- 10:44Speaker 1: to bath and then in your season it's coming. What
- 10:50Speaker 1: fruit tree? You know? Don't give off that fruit except
- 10:55Speaker 1: or fruit tree. Who has not been for the lies,
- 11:00Speaker 1: who has not been nurtured, who has been dug up
- 11:04Speaker 1: and cast away? Did that fruit tree? Can't bring fruit?
- 11:07Speaker 1: But we do it to ourselves. We're looking all over.
- 11:10Speaker 1: The great fruits is way bigger than lemons. I'm gonna
- 11:13Speaker 1: go be a great fruit. I don't want to be
- 11:14Speaker 1: no date tree. These little old dates. There's a there's
- 11:18Speaker 1: a big market for dates. That's a big market for figs.
- 11:22Speaker 1: There's a huge market out there for cherries. See stop
- 11:26Speaker 1: looking at the apples and oranges. So you see a
- 11:29Speaker 1: whole lot more apples and oranges than you do anything.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Look at all them grapes. Yeah, man, they make wine
- 11:34Speaker 1: out of grapes. They do it. I won't be a grape.
- 11:36Speaker 1: You ain't a great man, You're a cherry tree. Be
- 11:41Speaker 1: the best cherry tree you can be. Let all that
- 11:43Speaker 1: fruit come on your tree. Man, you ain't gonna have
- 11:46Speaker 1: enough room on your branches for the cherries that he'll
- 11:48Speaker 1: put on your tree. Everybody want a good cherry man.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Come on here now, stay planning, folks, Quit moving around,
- 11:57Speaker 1: Quit quit getting off your hustle before the before the victory.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Come stop giving up. Man right before you about the
- 12:04Speaker 1: bare fruit. Now you pull up root and go somewhere
- 12:07Speaker 1: else because that it ain't happening quick enough. Man, your
- 12:10Speaker 1: season is coming, but you got to stay played, and
- 12:14Speaker 1: you got to realize through contacting your creator what type
- 12:18Speaker 1: of fruit tree you are. And quit looking at the
- 12:21Speaker 1: other archierds trying to get over there and they got
- 12:24Speaker 1: more fruit than you. That's not who you are. Stop
- 12:27Speaker 1: trying to be something that you are not. You're listening
- 12:31Speaker 1: to Steve Harvey eighteen eighteen minutes after the hour. Welcome
- 12:40Speaker 1: to the ride, y'all, Steve Harvey Marty Show. Yeah here

- 18:18Speaker 1: get out of Vegas until late, all those meetings and

- 23:52Speaker 1: lemu Well got home, his mama was waiting for him
- 23:56Speaker 1: with a switch in the yard. Lemu Well is the
- 24:00Speaker 1: first person to get his assoop after the street lights
- 24:06Speaker 1: should have been there thirty minutes pride, but the boy
- 24:09Speaker 1: was late because that basketball got good. He is the
- 24:13Speaker 1: first person got his ass toe up in the front
- 24:16Speaker 1: yard for getting home late after the street lights came off.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Nineteen sixty nine, step Timber twenty three Augusta, George and

- 31:06Speaker 1: decent conversations. Hey man, I'm her work husband. Dog. Everybody, everybody.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Most people have a work husband or work wife. Man,
- 31:13Speaker 1: that's that's known in the corporate world. Work husband. You
- 31:16Speaker 1: hear what I'm saying. What a work husband and you
- 31:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna be there Monday eight o'clock. Hey, man, I'm
- 31:23Speaker 1: not gonna saying go back. Look, you know what I'm
- 31:25Speaker 1: gonna just called Pam. I just called Pam. I'm sorry
- 31:28Speaker 1: to call me back in about a minute. In fifteen seconds,
- 31:32Speaker 1: we're gonna wait for her to call me back. Works
- 31:35Speaker 1: husband mine on a Friday. Okay, Well, that's it was
- 31:39Speaker 1: just it was just a question. Man. I'm just trying
- 31:41Speaker 1: to see if you didn't want to, maybe we could
- 31:43Speaker 1: work something out if I find out if there's any
- 31:46Speaker 1: truth to anything you're saying. Oh, it's gonna be to
- 31:50Speaker 1: lay down night to night. You ain't nobody gonna do
- 31:52Speaker 1: nothing to my baby. I mean, ain't nobody gonna done
- 31:54Speaker 1: What did you just call my wife your babby? No? No, man,
- 31:58Speaker 1: I'm doing here on Monday, and this is the work husband.
- 32:01Speaker 1: I got one more thing I need to say to you. Man, No,
- 32:03Speaker 1: you ain't got nothing to say to me. Monday. No, no, no,
- 32:07Speaker 1: I got something else I need to say to you.
- 32:08Speaker 1: Are you listening? You better talk to Jesus because I'm
- 32:11Speaker 1: gonna be up there on Monday at eight. Okay, I
- 32:13Speaker 1: got I got one more thing I need to say.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Got nothing to say to me. It's something Monday I do.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Got one more thing to say to you. Go ahead,
- 32:20Speaker 1: go ahead. I said that you're listening. I'm listening to
- 32:23Speaker 1: this for work hasAge. We'll just what I want to
- 32:25Speaker 1: tell you. This is nephew Tommy from the Steve Harvey
- 32:30Speaker 1: Morning Show. You just got pranked by your brother Eric
- 32:39Speaker 1: love that I can't put you up to this. Yeah,
- 32:44Speaker 1: I'm so glad this is a joke because somebody was
- 32:47Speaker 1: about to die. I'm gonna see she works. So you
- 32:51Speaker 1: all right? Man? Oh man, that's a good one. Right.
- 32:56Speaker 1: I need a drink, man, Man? Yeah, man, Hey, I
- 33:01Speaker 1: got one more thing I gotta ask you, man, what
- 33:03Speaker 1: is the baddest radio show in the Lake and the
- 33:06Speaker 1: Steve Harvey Morning Show? Crazy? You're listening to the Steve
- 33:11Speaker 1: Harvey Morning Show? All right, Today's Marty gra Tomorrow is
- 33:17Speaker 1: Ashway Day? Is it? What are people planning to give
- 33:23Speaker 1: up this year for Lent. Now, Lent is that period
- 33:26Speaker 1: between uh, Marty Gras and then Easter. Okay, I think
- 33:31Speaker 1: that's a forty day period. You know they counted for
- 33:35Speaker 1: Marty Gras. I thought litt was religious. You got something
- 33:38Speaker 1: to do with Lent? Is the religious uh observation? You
- 33:43Speaker 1: know in New Orleans they party and everything, you know,
- 33:47Speaker 1: and do everything for Marty Gray and then after Mighty
- 33:50Speaker 1: grad Day, then they go into ash Wednesday in the
- 33:52Speaker 1: Lenten season, you know, but too don't have nothing to
- 33:55Speaker 1: do each other. Well, it's like, yeah, so they're playing
- 34:00Speaker 1: something rotty grow up until ash Wednesday, yes, yes, yes,
- 34:04Speaker 1: and then it starts Lent and you give up something
- 34:07Speaker 1: for Lent, you know, like you kind of like stop sinning,
- 34:11Speaker 1: I guess, or doing things that you've seen in the
- 34:14Speaker 1: whole time you're doing the mode, right, yeah, but after
- 34:17Speaker 1: after minagraphs over and then, but surely it's confusing to
- 34:24Speaker 1: me to give up Lint is to give up a scene.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Well no, no, no, okay here, no, okay, listen to this.
- 34:32Speaker 1: You give up certain things like uh, that's how it
- 34:35Speaker 1: was explained to us, being Christians and everything, you know,
- 34:39Speaker 1: Catholics through it. It's a Catholic observation. Yeah, you know,
- 34:43Speaker 1: you you do something for lyn so you try not
- 34:45Speaker 1: to send like you know, people do do things like
- 34:48Speaker 1: give up TV, give up sugar, you know, or something
- 34:52Speaker 1: like that. But yeah, things like that, but you give
- 34:55Speaker 1: the things you want to do for self improvements totally.
- 34:58Speaker 1: But if you want to do that, you can. Yeah.
- 35:01Speaker 1: So what about us the Baptist You're still Christian? You know, Yeah,
- 35:08Speaker 1: we did it. We did never give up any kids.
- 35:12Speaker 1: We did it. I mean, I don't think it's as
- 35:13Speaker 1: popular now with other religions besides Catholics, you know, besides Catholicism,
- 35:19Speaker 1: but um, yeah, we used to do it in our faith.
- 35:22Speaker 1: They don't they don't necessarily um tie it to religion,
- 35:27Speaker 1: but they still observe the Lenten season. I probably will
- 35:31Speaker 1: give up sugar, Steve, which is hard for me right
- 35:34Speaker 1: now because I've been eating sugar. So that's what I
- 35:37Speaker 1: want to give up sugar. Oh yeah, and potato chips. Yeah,
- 35:46Speaker 1: so sugar and sugar and potato chips. Who would you
- 35:49Speaker 1: give up, big dog? What would you give up if
- 35:52Speaker 1: you had to do something like that? What would I
- 35:54Speaker 1: give up? Mm hmm for forty days? Something hard? Yes,
- 36:03Speaker 1: self improvement something you would want to give up to
- 36:06Speaker 1: get closer to God. A lot of people do it
- 36:08Speaker 1: for that reason. You give it up, you get closer
- 36:10Speaker 1: to God. People pray, they fast during that time. The
- 36:14Speaker 1: only thing I can think of that I could try
- 36:18Speaker 1: to give up. Maybe if you say what I think
- 36:22Speaker 1: you're gonna say, you won't fail. Yes, don't even say it. Okay,
- 36:30Speaker 1: surely what was you thinking of? Uncle cousin show? Don't
- 36:37Speaker 1: even put yourself through that, because it's for forty days, Steve,
- 36:45Speaker 1: you could do it, see right there that they are right?
- 36:54Speaker 1: All right? All right? How about this? Forty days for
- 37:00Speaker 1: little no profanity on the radio. You can't do that anyway,
- 37:05Speaker 1: but you try. You can do it for one day,
- 37:09Speaker 1: one hour. I think the last time you tried this,
- 37:11Speaker 1: don't don't do that. Do something that you know you
- 37:15Speaker 1: can't do profanity on the radio anyway? What was that? Well?
- 37:18Speaker 1: You know like little words will give you one? Like
- 37:21Speaker 1: you that are piss permissible on the radio. I'm gonna
- 37:24Speaker 1: give you one. You It'll be a struggle, but let's
- 37:26Speaker 1: see you you can do it. Give up your plane
- 37:29Speaker 1: for fort todaid and go to the airport like regular people.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Already have I've been in these shops you get. Okay,
- 37:39Speaker 1: so what do you like to um? What what's one
- 37:42Speaker 1: of your favorite foods? Steve? You could give up cigars? Yeah, cigars,
- 37:50Speaker 1: that's what I'm supposed to be he jor huh what
- 37:53Speaker 1: is your half chick ass in this for? It's you know, sacrifice.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Help me tell about something? Give up cigars for lit
- 38:02Speaker 1: for what? It ain't no seeing it's it doesn't necessarily
- 38:08Speaker 1: have to be that. It's just a sin. I mean
- 38:11Speaker 1: some people do that, you know, That's how we kind
- 38:13Speaker 1: of did it growing up. But it doesn't have to
- 38:15Speaker 1: be that. It could be like I said, I'm going
- 38:18Speaker 1: to give up I think something that I really really
- 38:20Speaker 1: really really love, and that's potato, chips and sugar. Right now?
- 38:25Speaker 1: You really love cigars? Yeah, and you really really love
- 38:29Speaker 1: cigars for you day. You can do it though, So
- 38:36Speaker 1: if it would help, if if I'm not giving up cigars, okay,
- 38:42Speaker 1: we'll give up sex for today. I've been to smoke
- 38:44Speaker 1: one now you know, ladies and gentlemen, she's here, Miss
- 38:50Speaker 1: Ann Tripp, thank you very much. Okay. Yeah, well I'm
- 38:53Speaker 1: Roman Catholic, so I'm giving up potato chips and jelly donuts,
- 38:56Speaker 1: those of my things. And yeah, I'm a potato ship lover.
- 39:00Speaker 1: We're like, oh that terrible. Well, that's why we're wonderful. Okay. Anyway,
- 39:05Speaker 1: this is aw with the news and good morning. Okay.
- 39:07Speaker 1: President Trump is scheduled to deliver his first address to
- 39:10Speaker 1: a joint session of the Congress tonight, and he's expected
- 39:13Speaker 1: to lay out his budget priorities, some things we already
- 39:16Speaker 1: apparently know. The President reportedly wants to increase the military
- 39:19Speaker 1: budget by about ten or fifty four billion dollars, while
- 39:23Speaker 1: decreasing spending on domestic discretionary programs and on foreign aid
- 39:28Speaker 1: by about the same amount. Good news is that the
- 39:30Speaker 1: president is not touching entitlement programs like Medicare or Social Security.
- 39:34Speaker 1: By the way, President Trump thinks he knows who's responsible
- 39:36Speaker 1: for what he claims have been those information leaks from
- 39:39Speaker 1: the White House. I think that President Obama is behind it,
- 39:41Speaker 1: because there's people are certainly behind it, and some of
- 39:44Speaker 1: the leaks possibly come from that group. You know, some
- 39:48Speaker 1: of the leaks, which are really very serious leaks because
- 39:50Speaker 1: they're very bad in terms of national security. But I
- 39:54Speaker 1: also understand that's politics and in terms of him being
- 39:58Speaker 1: behind things. That's Paul Techs and it will probably continue. Now.
- 40:02Speaker 1: The President made Noah had Noah ad mission, and he
- 40:06Speaker 1: didn't say he had proof of that, but anyway, he
- 40:08Speaker 1: made that remark on Fox News. Jewish schools and community
- 40:10Speaker 1: centers and places all over the country have been receiving
- 40:12Speaker 1: anti Semitic threats. Yesterday, sites like Florida, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Michigan,
- 40:18Speaker 1: New Jersey, sites and no no states had to be
- 40:21Speaker 1: evacuated after receiving bomb threats. Luckily, they all turned out
- 40:24Speaker 1: to be unfounded. However, several Jewish cemeteries have also been
- 40:27Speaker 1: vandalized over the last two months. Sad news after Bill
- 40:31Speaker 1: Paxson has died at age sixty one because of complications
- 40:34Speaker 1: through the cardiac surgery. According to his family, Bill Paxson
- 40:37Speaker 1: perhaps best remembered for his portrayal of the small town
- 40:39Speaker 1: sheriff in the movie One False Move. In Tombstone, he
- 40:42Speaker 1: plays the youngest brother White loved that movie, and in
- 40:45Speaker 1: Titanic he pays the head of that expedition searching for
- 40:48Speaker 1: the blue diamonds supposedly lost on the Great Ship when
- 40:50Speaker 1: it sunk. Sprague Mrs Calvert I was just wondering if
- 40:57Speaker 1: you had found the heart of the ocean yet, Mr Loving,
- 41:01Speaker 1: all right, you have my attention. Ros Can you tell
- 41:05Speaker 1: us to the woman in the picture is Oh? Yes,
- 41:08Speaker 1: the woman in the picture is me. I love that movie.
- 41:11Speaker 1: And finally, according to report, turns out that the man
- 41:16Speaker 1: in charge of giving out those red nomination and award
- 41:18Speaker 1: envelopes at the Oscars was busy tweeting out pictures of
- 41:22Speaker 1: Hollywood stars instead of doing what he was supposed to
- 41:24Speaker 1: be doing. Despite all the controversy, at the end, the
- 41:27Speaker 1: ratings were poor. You know, the most pre show buzz
- 41:30Speaker 1: was about the movie La La Land, and the Oscars
- 41:32Speaker 1: drew an average of only thirty two point nine million viewers,
- 41:35Speaker 1: which was the second lowest number in history. So didn't
- 41:39Speaker 1: do that well, I guess. I guess if people knew
- 41:41Speaker 1: what was going to happen at the end, they would
- 41:42Speaker 1: have watched not giving it to Denzel. There you go
- 41:47Speaker 1: there and hidden Figures, Thank you very much. Best picture
- 41:51Speaker 1: in my opinion. Anyway, back to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 41:53Speaker 1: All right, thank you for saying let's go to the phones.
- 41:56Speaker 1: What are you giving up for? Lent me up for
- 42:00Speaker 1: because I've come up with what I'm gonna give up
- 42:01Speaker 1: for litt uh uh rid man red meat, red meat.
- 42:10Speaker 1: Oh that's big, that's pretty big. That's big, would you say, Steve?
- 42:17Speaker 1: That's great? Yeah? All right? So what are you giving up, sir?
- 42:23Speaker 1: For litt I'm gonna give up spanking. Yeah, that's a
- 42:28Speaker 1: good idea that business. But I'm will cut that loose
- 42:33Speaker 1: for forty days no spanking because I say it said

- 43:56Speaker 1: called man halter. But anyway, I'm not gonna wear thous
- 43:58Speaker 1: and I'm not gonna wear my cheerly eating sneakers. That
- 44:01Speaker 1: was are a few things that I really really love.
- 44:06Speaker 1: So it's clothing, certain clothing. Why don't you give up
- 44:10Speaker 1: your friends for forty days? Why would I get rid

- 44:22Speaker 1: Are you gonna send? Are you going to spend time
- 44:25Speaker 1: with me? Oh? Now there's a thought. Oh no, absolutely not.
- 44:29Speaker 1: I'm not your friend. But what it does is all
- 44:33Speaker 1: gives you a time to improve yourself. As according to
- 44:36Speaker 1: what the ladies just told, then maybe that'll be good
- 44:39Speaker 1: to have you and I to do like male bonding.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Well that ain't You don't need no more male bonding.
- 44:51Speaker 1: That ain't what you need, Steve, And I'm just trying

- 45:01Speaker 1: I'm I'm a different type of Oh I'm not like
- 45:05Speaker 1: your friends, That's what I'm saying. No, I don't understand
- 45:09Speaker 1: what you mean. Be more clear, I'm not like your friends.

- 45:25Speaker 1: I don't like your friends to promise you. I didn't
- 45:28Speaker 1: mean that, I said, Tommy right away. You've never even
- 45:30Speaker 1: been around my friend. You did as soon as I
- 45:35Speaker 1: said it. I got one for you, and I don't
- 45:38Speaker 1: know anyway. Here's what I'm doing my block with you days,
- 45:47Speaker 1: stepping out into something that you've been really wanting to do.
- 45:50Speaker 1: I'm getting ready to be stepping out of work. What

- 46:18Speaker 1: what I'm getting My body conditioned to be on a
- 46:20Speaker 1: wrestling team. So that's just got It's a new curriculum

- 46:36Speaker 1: have you seen the similar between striking put him side

- 46:56Speaker 1: so farty days. Um, what do you give? No man
- 47:00Speaker 1: halter and no cheerley the sneakers that I wear. Um,
- 47:04Speaker 1: those are my two things thus far. I'll think about
- 47:06Speaker 1: the friends, about friends. Oh my god, No, I have
- 47:10Speaker 1: to have feathers. I have to have feathers. It is
- 47:14Speaker 1: a month. Okay, Um, well, thank you, butterfly, thank you
- 47:20Speaker 1: so much. Charley. You're listening to Steve Harvey Morning Show

- 47:53Speaker 1: going to give up working with this lawyer that I have.
- 47:56Speaker 1: I'm trying to get help me getting on book published
- 47:59Speaker 1: that I wrote, and this other publisher who I don't
- 48:03Speaker 1: think I need to name, did not publish. So my
- 48:08Speaker 1: lawyer told me to put it on his letter head
- 48:09Speaker 1: and factor to him and all this kind of stuff,
- 48:11Speaker 1: and he didn't do it. So I'm just going to
- 48:13Speaker 1: find a new publisher. So I'm give my lawyer up
- 48:15Speaker 1: from that. Give up your lawyer from them, m because
- 48:20Speaker 1: you know they you know, they has no appliciated say
- 48:23Speaker 1: lawyers of liars. I mean, I don't know if he's lying.
- 48:25Speaker 1: I think he just had too much on his plate.
- 48:28Speaker 1: And so you know, I need a publisher, and I
- 48:33Speaker 1: can't wait for him because I hired this one publisher
- 48:36Speaker 1: and they told me to send him some money. I
- 48:38Speaker 1: sent him the money, and they want to call me
- 48:40Speaker 1: back and tell me when you want your poetry book written?
- 48:43Speaker 1: I sent her over nine other pages of a manuscript.
- 48:45Speaker 1: What the excuse me would make her think that I'm
- 48:49Speaker 1: trying to write a poetry book. Yeah, I don't. Nobody

- 49:49Speaker 1: giving up for litting? Why? Well, I'm giving up two things.
- 49:52Speaker 1: First thing is I'm giving up me. Okay, I'm also
- 49:56Speaker 1: giving up hating on myself, being discouraging to myself. You
- 50:04Speaker 1: know something, I just got a text from my son
- 50:08Speaker 1: who's going through a period where he just said he
- 50:10Speaker 1: just woke up. He just needs to pray more because
- 50:13Speaker 1: he's feeling so discouraged right now, like the things he's
- 50:17Speaker 1: done are not paying off, and I had to remind
- 50:20Speaker 1: him that it is paying off. But it is a
- 50:24Speaker 1: trick of the devil to make you think that you're
- 50:27Speaker 1: not accomplishing anything, so you can get discouraged and stay
- 50:30Speaker 1: in a discouraged place. But in actuality, you are just fine.
- 50:35Speaker 1: You're in the process. It's just the process takes a while.
- 50:39Speaker 1: But since it takes a while, the devil's job is
- 50:41Speaker 1: to come in in one of those oh wild moments
- 50:46Speaker 1: and deceive you with it ain't happening. This ain't working.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Let's do something else. Let's give up on this, stay
- 50:53Speaker 1: with it ever, get appreciate your appreciate your words every day.
- 50:57Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Thank you, darling, keep on, Thank you, Tammy.
- 51:02Speaker 1: Give up? What tell me I'm gonna give up six
- 51:06Speaker 1: at my house? Just that location? Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna
- 51:13Speaker 1: give up six at my house. We'll go here. Well, no,
- 51:16Speaker 1: you're not gonna give it up, so so where else?
- 51:20Speaker 1: I mean, it just won't be at the house. You're
- 51:24Speaker 1: just let him talk, all right, But do anybody care?
- 51:29Speaker 1: Not at all. I'm just amazed that he would just
- 51:32Speaker 1: even say it aloud. I guess are amazed. I am sometimes,
- 51:38Speaker 1: you know, even I can become amazed with him. Stupidity
- 51:41Speaker 1: is not really amazing. It's startling. Yeah it's not. Yeah, yeah, alright,
- 51:50Speaker 1: coming up next, more ignorance from the nephew. It just
- 51:52Speaker 1: keeps coming on this show. We'll be back. You're listening
- 51:56Speaker 1: to Steve Harvey Morning Show. Yes, I'm trying to reach

- 53:23Speaker 1: if I won't say the N word, I say words
- 53:26Speaker 1: I don't want to say. If I find some surveillance
- 53:29Speaker 1: to my trailer, I will come and keep your black
- 53:31Speaker 1: people association that hear me? You know who you? Uh?
- 53:36Speaker 1: Just you lest to Tuck? Ain't you You got right?
- 53:40Speaker 1: I'm leus to Tucker. Do you want to know how
- 53:42Speaker 1: many times I said word? We're trying to get a
- 53:45Speaker 1: survey on it, sir, That's what we're trying to I'm
- 53:49Speaker 1: with I'm Curtis walking with Black people of America. Hell,
- 53:52Speaker 1: I'm walking, sir? Why are you calling my house? So
- 53:57Speaker 1: I'm just here to ask have you been using it?
- 53:59Speaker 1: And have you been using it at your job? Why
- 54:01Speaker 1: did I tell you I don't use to to my
- 54:03Speaker 1: house because I got kids. I don't use at the
- 54:05Speaker 1: job because I got black people to work for me.
- 54:08Speaker 1: I don't want to run them off by calling them names. Okay, Well,
- 54:12Speaker 1: when you go down to the club by yourself, are
- 54:14Speaker 1: you guys in there using it? Come on now and
- 54:16Speaker 1: be honest with me. Are you guys in there using it? Man?
- 54:19Speaker 1: Let me tell you something I don't know what about.
- 54:22Speaker 1: But it's not me like you said. Look, I got
- 54:24Speaker 1: black neighbors, all right, I ain't. I ain't like that
- 54:27Speaker 1: I ain't like that. Okay, Well, let me ask you
- 54:29Speaker 1: this when you just when it's just you and them,
- 54:30Speaker 1: them good old boys, when you're just y'all, are you

- 55:06Speaker 1: more thing to tell you. Are you familiar Williams? Yeah,
- 55:10Speaker 1: he worked for me. This nephew tim Me from the
- 55:13Speaker 1: Steve Harvey Morning Show. You just got pranked by william
- 55:20Speaker 1: You all right, man, you got kind of ribbed up? Man?
- 55:23Speaker 1: Well man, you like that? Brother? He told me, he said,
- 55:28Speaker 1: he said, this white guy is gonna go off. He said,
- 55:31Speaker 1: trust me, he does not use the N word, but
- 55:33Speaker 1: just act like he's been using it and he's gonna
- 55:35Speaker 1: go to hell offn me money anyway? Hell, all right,
- 55:45Speaker 1: let's the copy. I gotta ask you, man, what's the
- 55:47Speaker 1: baddest radio show in the land. Let me tell you
- 55:51Speaker 1: if the Steve Harvey Morning Show. And you know how
- 55:53Speaker 1: I know some black guys said work for me? Have that? Ever?
- 56:02Speaker 1: What a what a today? Telling stories? Well, you know,
- 56:19Speaker 1: just not people need to know the text days. Oh yeah,
- 56:22Speaker 1: we do, alright, Subject, Thank you Tommy. Subjects always be
- 56:27Speaker 1: open to Yeah, have an open mind. Yeah, and you
- 56:33Speaker 1: know what they say for your mind. That's the that's
- 56:38Speaker 1: all we reskable, that's all we need. We leve your mind. Subject,
- 56:44Speaker 1: Come on him, all right? You ready to get it together?
- 56:50Speaker 1: Over there? Steve Subject, my husband is verbally abusive? Hi, Steve, Hi,
- 56:55Speaker 1: surely my husband is verbally abusive. He gets upset with
- 56:59Speaker 1: me and calls me hans like butt hole and trifling
- 57:02Speaker 1: and says I'm not a good wife and I can
- 57:04Speaker 1: be replaced. He comes home from work on my day
- 57:07Speaker 1: off and will call me upstairs to ask me what
- 57:10Speaker 1: I did all day? What I am a grown woman.
- 57:13Speaker 1: We went to counseling about this, but it doesn't seem
- 57:15Speaker 1: like it's getting better. He tells me to get out
- 57:18Speaker 1: and takes his rings back, just to call me back
- 57:21Speaker 1: the next day to say he's sorry and he wants
- 57:24Speaker 1: his marriage to work. We've only been married for a
- 57:27Speaker 1: year and I've moved in with him. He also doesn't
- 57:30Speaker 1: get along with my daughter and he complains that she
- 57:32Speaker 1: doesn't speak to him. I told him he winds and
- 57:35Speaker 1: nags like a woman. So I'm thinking about leaving. Do
- 57:39Speaker 1: you think that would be wise? Or should I stay
- 57:42Speaker 1: and try to work it out? Sincerely, A bruised wife. UM,
- 57:46Speaker 1: who is this child you're married to? I'm surprised you've
- 57:50Speaker 1: put up with it this long. I really am. Verbal
- 57:53Speaker 1: abuse hurts too. You just don't see the scars like
- 57:56Speaker 1: you do with physical abuse. And and it's only been
- 57:58Speaker 1: a year with you guys. What happened to the honeymoon phase? Uh?
- 58:03Speaker 1: This is too much. Um. When you went to counseling
- 58:08Speaker 1: where you honest with them, because it's clear that you
- 58:11Speaker 1: guys really do need some kind of help, and you
- 58:13Speaker 1: didn't get it. Because I think that he doesn't think
- 58:17Speaker 1: he needs anything. He probably doesn't think anything's wrong with him.
- 58:20Speaker 1: He's the breadwinner, he's taking care of you. He can
- 58:23Speaker 1: just tell you to give him the rings back? Why
- 58:25Speaker 1: are you giving him back? When he asked you? They're
- 58:27Speaker 1: your rings he gave him to you. This is seriously
- 58:30Speaker 1: my fear that the verbal abuse will turn into physical
- 58:34Speaker 1: abuse at some point. You know he's starting this after
- 58:37Speaker 1: a year. That's very serious to me. I hope it's
- 58:40Speaker 1: serious to you. And um, do you think that would
- 58:44Speaker 1: be wise since you're thinking about leaving? Yes, I do
- 58:47Speaker 1: think that's wise. And I say get out before it's
- 58:50Speaker 1: too late, Steve, Yeah, yeah, another one? M M. Do
- 59:02Speaker 1: you think so I'm thinking about leaving? Do you think
- 59:06Speaker 1: that would be wise? What do you think? You think
- 59:14Speaker 1: it's wise to stay? Shirley says something really smart here?
- 59:20Speaker 1: What happened to the honeymoon phase? You ain't even been
- 59:23Speaker 1: married a year and this guy is verbally abusive? When
- 59:27Speaker 1: did this start? Did you see any signs of this
- 59:30Speaker 1: before you got married? Don't go this bad normally so fast?
- 59:34Speaker 1: You know you still in the planning stage? What kind
- 59:37Speaker 1: of house where we're gonna live? Do you want to call?
- 59:40Speaker 1: You know, you're still matching stuff up at this point.
- 59:42Speaker 1: You I don't get what's I don't you know? Lady?
- 59:46Speaker 1: Come on now, don't don't let your self esteem be
- 59:49Speaker 1: so low that you don't see the good and the
- 59:52Speaker 1: value in yourself and your daughter, And don't allow your
- 59:55Speaker 1: daughter to sit through this and witness this and somehow
- 59:58Speaker 1: fix it in her mind that this is the way
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: a man should treat a woman. Because I got news
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: for you. It's not I it's it's it's not you know, uh,
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: just just look, I don't you're a grown woman. You
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: said that he come home from work on my off day,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: will call me upstairs and asked me what I did
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: all day? What? I'm a grown woman. We went to counseling,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: but it doesn't seem to be getting better. What y'all
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: doing in the counselor where y'all going? You know, some
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: dudes you can't take the counselor. I got a pardner
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: whose wife has asked for counselor, and he said, okay, cool,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: take me down there. She counseled all of them because
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: she already noticed food right here. Gonna get down there
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: and gonna be more than a notion. When he gets
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: in front of that little psychiatrist. You know what he said,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Wait till he say something against me. How is counseling
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: gonna work if he can't say nothing against you the defensive.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: All right, after the break at eighteen after the hour,
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: we'll have part two of Steve's response to Ted Day's
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Strawberry letter. You're listening, Steve, Alright, Steve, my husband is
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: verbally abusive after one year. Well, I mean, you know,
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: I don't I don't get it. I don't know. You're
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: going to counseling and it ain't working. You're praying about it.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: He ain't changing. I mean, you know, well, what you
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: want me to tell you? Stay there, work out what
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: I mean, and and and it's probably is a little
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: bit worse than you're writing in your letter. You know.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Then he he tells me to get out and takes
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: his ring back. He puts you in the baby out. Yeah,
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: I mean this dude right here, got it backwards, you know. Uh,
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: just to call me back the next day and say sorry.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: He wants his manage to work. We've only been married
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: for a year and I moved in with him. Okay,
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: so is his house. That's to put you out. But
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: now right there, he's lost the basic concept of marriage anyway,
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: of what's mine is yours and what's yours is mind?
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: So now he putting you out his house. See this
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: dude right here didn't really need to be married. He
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: needed a housekeeper and an escort service, and then he
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: could go and do it how he want to do.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: You can put them out as soon as they get through.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: Plus they want to leave anyway, so you know he
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: should have did that. He also doesn't get along with
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: my daughter. And he complains that she doesn't speak to him.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: That's because kids are smart. See kids read through crap
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: sometimes quicker than we because see he she has no
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: emotional tie to this man. She has no vested interests. Well,
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: I ain't gotta make this marriage work. She ain't mard.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: She just got this the results of y'all's decision. So
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: the girl going, now, I don't speak because I can
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: tell how you treating my mama. So that's his problem.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: I told him he wines and nags like a woman. Well,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: you know, how did you pick the man? What would
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: you picking? Are you sure he's all the man you
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: think he is? Or why don't you need to get
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: some things checked? Cost precious maybe a little bit different,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: And so you know, look, any man and wines and
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: the nags like a woman, and a woman is telling
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: that to a man. That's the direct opposite of what
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: normally happened. So why are you dealing with that? I
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: don't know. So I'm thinking about leaving. Do you think
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: that would be wise? Well, you ain't done nothing else wise?
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Might a world try that was? Marrying him? Wasn't the
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: best idea? See him like? Or should I stay and
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: try to work it out? Don't? The question is does
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: he want to work it out? You've already invited the
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: boy to counseling here sincerely a brus wife. Um, you
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: know what can I tell you? You know I'm gonna
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: tell you right now, Steve Harmon, I'm out. Yeah. Why
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: don't Shirley Strawberry out? Why don't you what? Why don't
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: she get the cussing him? Like? He? No, no, no, no, no, no,
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: that ain't gonna work. Who wants to be in that mess?
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: Right there? All right? Today's Strawberry letter is posted on
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Steve Harvey dot com. You can tweet or instagram me
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: your thoughts at my girl Shirley. Now coming up after
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: the break at thirty four, after the hour of Miss Anne,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: we'll be here with today's headlines. Okay, you're listening to
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Steve Harvey Morning Show. Uh. Coming up next, we're gonna
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: go to the phone eight seven seven twenty ninety. What
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: do you what are you going to give up? For?
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Litt and Day's as the question. Alright, Lionel Richie, Uh boy,
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: this is something. Lionel Richie's tour with Mariah Carey has
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: been postponed until the summer. H Lionel Richie. They're they're
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: calling it what they're calling it, the All the Hits Tour. Uh.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: In a statement to the News, Lionel blamed it on
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: his slow recovery from recent knee surgery. I didn't even
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: know he was having knee surgery. But anyway, that's that's
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: the reason they're postponing it. When you have been performing
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: as for as long as I have, Lionel says, it
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: takes a toll on your body. He says he I
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: don't want to disappoint anyone, especially my fans, and I
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: look forward to being back on stage so we can
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: all be dancing on the ceiling together again. Lionel's rep
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: says the tour will likely be rescheduled for this summer.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: And that's what I just told you. Lionel just said.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: So there you go, sit down and play that piano.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: That's right, Star playing zoom easy like Sunday Morning. Funny
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: a dance. Say, nobody go to Lina Richard concert to
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: see him dance. Nobody. Nobody went to see Whitney to
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: watch your dance. Got that right now they did. Ladies
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: and gentlemen, cheese here at the Lovely miss hand trip.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: Thank you, Steve, Morning, everybody, Shirley, Carla, Tommy Jr. The
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: Sand Trip with the news. Good morning, Good morning, everybody. Well.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: President Trump schedule to deliver his first address to a
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: joint session of the Congress tonight and expected to lay
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: out his budget priorities reportedly are prepared to up defense
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: spending while cutting the same amount of money spent on
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: domestic programs and foreign age. Defense spending increase will be
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: upset and paid for by finding greater savings and efficiencies
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: across the federal government. We're going to do more with
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: les me. While Jewish synagogue, schools, community centers across the
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: country reporting on the being on the receiving end of
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: a spike and anti Semitic attacks and threats. Since last month,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: at least thirteen states reported receiving bomb fits just yesterday,
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: and of course they will have been a lot of
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: vandalism issues against Jewish cemeteries in St. Louis and Philadelphia
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: and some other places. Somebody hacked into John legends Twitter
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: account Friday night and left a series of vulgar and
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: political tweets. One threatens to stop Donald Trump, referring to
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: the President as a big cheeto. Legend says, first of all,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: he would never threaten violence against the President, no matter
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: quote how much I wish he would go away. He
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: also says he would never call President trumpet cheeto because
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: he enjoys treat cheetos. He likes them. And by the way,
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: it's Black History Month. Time now for today's Black History note.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: Note there were many black American inventors who saved lives,
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: not just black or white or American, but all over
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: the world. One of these was Garrett A. Morgan. Garrett
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Morgan was born in eighteen seventy seven and designed the
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: first street corner traffic signal. He went on to patent
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: the Tricolor traffic light system. Among his other inventions was
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: a safety helmet in nineteen twelve, which was the first
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: gas mask. In fact, Morgan's helmet was later used by
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: the Allied forces in World War One, and it became
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: the prototype of the modern gas mask used by fire departments, miners,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: and rescue squads to this day. Its value was proven though,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: in nineteen sixteen in Cleveland, Ohio, when a gas explosion
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: in the waterworks tracks city workers in a tunnel two
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: d and fifty feet below Lake Erie. Morgan let a
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: rescue crew, including his brother and several firemen, all wearing
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: his breathing helmet. They rescued six unconscious men that day
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: who would have died otherwise, with the twenty one others
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: whom they couldn't get to in time. The four white
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: members of the crew were awarded medals by the city
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: of Cleveland. However, Garrett Morgan's bravery and invention were never
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: even mentioned. In fact, the city of Cleveland never recognized
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: this black American genius for his invention and its use
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: to save lives. He's being recognized by us today as
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: a person of note, a real black history maker. Mr
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: Garretty Morgan back to step, Thank you, thank you. We
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: need more of those little these are called little known unknown. Okay,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: don't get you, don't get Yeah, nineteen o five. You bebicly.

- 1:12:24Speaker 1: I like to know who I'm because if I need
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: to shake something, I know what they eat. You know
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: how to get them out. You know I'm trying to
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: get into cameras on what I'm uh, come on, go ahead,
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: what is going out? What you want to talk about today?
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: All right, all right, I'm glad you're asked. Sister Odell.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Uh did you hear about this woman who left behind
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: a real sass? See let's say obituary? Um it says uh. Well,
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: listen to this. Her name was gene e Addi. Gene
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: e Addi, She says, I was born, I lived, I died.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: I hate to admit it, but evidently I died. I
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: guess after all these years, God finally figured out where
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: to put me. I'm leaving behind a hell of a
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: lot of stuff Casey and Melinda will have to get
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: rid of. So if you're looking for random crap, you
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: should wait for the appropriate amount of time and get
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: in touch with them. After the funeral service, there will
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: be an after party with White Castle's pizza, Crispy Kreme donuts,
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: and booze. If you are sick, don't bother to come.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: I might be dead, but I still don't want your germs. So,
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: sister Odell, how do you want to be remembered? Well, well,
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: first of all, I want to talk to this woman
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: that don't put her obituary out there. She lived and
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: she died something we don't know. Hey, your dad, we're
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: have in your funeral. So that wasn't heavy? You know
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: people I always tried to be heavy, you know, like
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: there's something special that they ain't. And that's all it
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: is hel for just trying to be you know what
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: they call it? You know what's another word for heavy
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: or turnific? Bro that's it? Surely, prof did I just
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: asked timing for a weird She was born, she lived,
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: and she died, and it's half a time out. She
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: want to have at her funeral white castle, crystals and booth.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: She's a helmut? What is how do you know that? By?
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: What is? What? That is? Black people ain't gonna ask
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: for white countle and crystals. And look at the funeral repast.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: That's a trail. That's a trail. Upont request. She tried
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: to upen though all she had the same a moonshine.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: That would have been a dead give way. What else
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: is going on? Well? How about you want to be remembered? Well,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: what kind of funeral you want? You know, I won't
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: I want to smile funeral, but it's gonna be heat
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: because so many people's lives. You know I don't open
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: so many churches across the country. When I leave this girl,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: you ain't seen it. You ain't seen what they're gonna
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: lay out for me. I just told him that the
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: one that only requests I have and what I want
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: to wear, the dress I spent the most time, and
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: I want my missionary uniform. Won't white stockings but a
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: hen a sentiment in them, and I won't I want
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: my nurses gil shoes on it. I want white gloves
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: and a prag cow. And I do want red lipstick.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: I won't hold red lipstick and dell because I don't
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: wear lipstick because I'm a ministry and I don't wear
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: the ear rings. But would I leave here, I would
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: like a nice shot of lipstick on, just so you
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: know what it's like. It's h oh dash red ear
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: rings were don't look like? Don't knock? I want a
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: big younger. I want my niece wims them all the time,
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: and I letting me rings. But your catam when you're
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: doing mischion every work. So I want to get buried

- 1:17:19Speaker 1: sister Dale, you normally do. We scared you didn't even
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: speak to me the way you normally because out in

- 1:17:42Speaker 1: sister del. We have to go. Thank you your sh
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: you're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show, Today's Marty
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: Grod Tomorrow's Ash Wednesday. What do people plan to give
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: up this year for lent? According to an l A
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: Times article, even if you're not Catholic, some people see
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: lead as resolution reboost. Pastor interviewed for the article said,
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: it's always good when humans look at their lifestyle choices
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: and give up a negative habit. It's good for the
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: heart and spirit. Call us and tell us what you're
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: giving up for lent? Or what do you want to
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: do to help improve yourself? Eight seven seven twenty nine,
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: Steve is what's that dog? You should give up? Stupidity? Huh,
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: what not? Just before today you just confused him with
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: that one what I don't do it work? We have
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: callers waiting on the line. A man, all right, line one.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: Let's go to Gerald Deane out of California. Well, Tom,
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: thanks Gerald, Good morning Geraldine. Geraldine. What you're giving up
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: for lint? And why I do the whole forty days fast?
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: I give up food, eating or during less because I
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: think that's for the fact entails and it allows you
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: not only to you know, you get if there's some
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: real spiritual benefits attached to learning how to take away
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: that thing that that flesh desires. You're going fast for
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: forty days, I do it. I do it every year.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: I've been doing this since nineties. Sticks. Hold on, how
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: tall are you gerald Day, I'm five sis. How much
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: you weiit? I'm about one forty. But during the year
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: I gained a few pounds, and when I do the fast,
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: I take those pounds off, so instead of getting bigger
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: and bigger and bigger and then wind up three pounds,
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: that allows you to you know, if you put on
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: some extra way during the year, at some point you
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: gotta stop. You gotta stop dropping and and and and
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: when you say fast, Geral Jane, exactly what are you
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: talking about? Darling? You're gonna not eat hot I don't
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: eat food during the forty days. The first the first
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: week especially is no food whatsoever. Is just liquids. I
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: mean water, water and um. I may drink tease with
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: no sugar in it, and there's no food. Because your
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: first week is where you get your spiritual instructions. That's
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: where you that's where the body comes into you know, subjection.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: You'll find I can tell you this. Your body only
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: creates food for five for if you can go three days,
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: you can go forty days. Your body only gives you
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: a problem about food for the first without eating though
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: why But but there's some spiritu e Fastliness is a
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: spiritual exercise. So you get this in bark upon some
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: spiritual things when you when you don't have food in
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: your body after that third to fifth day, your brain
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: becomes crystal clear and you can hear from God like yeah,
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: show happening and see people think that fastness you want
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: something from God. But when I fast, I literally get
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: more instructions as as my life, what what directions I
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: shift them? At? What moves at your female I get
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: more from God than I do in terms of direction.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: It ain't really about give me to this. I want
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: a house, I want the car. No, And when you
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: ain't consumed with what you're gonna need three times a day,
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: now what you consumed with. Now your mind is only
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: on God because you know you need God to to
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: make it through those forty days. And God will if
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: you're leaning to God to make it. Their feet on
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: the word of God. And then you know, it's just
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: it's just a discipline that I think, it's a spiritual
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: discipline that we all need to incorporate because most of them,
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: you know, we we like to talk about people and
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: drugs and alcohol. Most people are eating themselves to death
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: because they don't know how to tell their body no.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: After all, I tell people, that's always time. If you've
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: been eating certain food since she was in your twenties,
