Latest / Life For Toledo / Walk Before Me Genesis 17:1
Transcript
- 0:00I'm thinking today of Genesis 17 .1. It says,
- 0:04Now, when Abraham was 99 years old, the Lord
- 0:07appeared to Abraham and said to him, I am God
- 0:10Almighty. Walk before me and be blameless. Well,
- 0:16there's a few things in this verse that we can
- 0:18see. And the first one is that God has high expectations
- 0:22of us or of any person that believes in God.
- 0:25Abraham was waiting on the way of salvation that
- 0:27God would make. He was believing in the promised
- 0:30line of the Lord. And just as we also believe
- 0:33in Jesus, and therefore God has high expectations
- 0:36from us that we would do the right thing. When
- 0:38you know what the right thing is, do the right
- 0:41thing. Notice also that God is willing to tarry
- 0:44with a man. That Abraham was just a human, and
- 0:47he had faith in God, and his faith was counted
- 0:49to him for righteousness. And it works about
- 0:51the same way for us, because it's Jesus Christ's
- 0:53righteousness that saves. Jesus Christ's righteousness
- 0:56that God sees when he looks at us, assuming that
- 0:58we've allowed the salvation that Jesus procured
- 1:00for us to be ours, that he paid the price for
- 1:04our sins. Next, notice that Abraham was 99 years
- 1:07old. This basically means that at any time that
- 1:09a person loves the Lord, believes in the Lord,
- 1:12and is willing to follow the Lord, that they
- 1:13can be saved and they can follow God, whether
- 1:15they have a day left or a year left or decades
- 1:18left or a hundred years left. So choose God,
- 1:21choose Jesus, choose to follow the Lord the best
- 1:23you know how. Trust that God is going to take
- 1:25care of the problem of your righteousness through
- 1:27his son, Jesus Christ. God bless you today.
