Speaker 1: Direct from Hollywood with Ryan Seacrest. De Lacey is blowing
0:04
Speaker 1: up thanks to Horizons single My Man, and having written
0:07
Speaker 1: hits for the likes of The Change, Mogris and Halsey,
0:08
Speaker 1: but she spent quite a while as an on the
0:10
Speaker 1: verge artist before making it, and that time was particularly
0:13
Speaker 1: challenging because even though she was finding some success as
0:16
Speaker 1: a songwriter, it wasn't sustaining her financially until she wrote
0:19
Speaker 1: Zara Larsen's hit Ruined My Life, which ironically came out
0:21
Speaker 1: of one of the lowest moments at the end of
0:23
Speaker 1: a toxic relationship. She was in tears in her car
0:26
Speaker 1: when de Lacey tells Billboard quote, I was talking to
0:29
Speaker 1: my sister and said, isn't it crazy how someone can
0:31
Speaker 1: just totally ruin your life? Ruin my life is a
0:33
Speaker 1: thing that I say all the time because I'm a
0:35
Speaker 1: drama queen. So I wrote it in my notes. Later,
0:37
Speaker 1: I read that title to a producer friend and he
0:40
Speaker 1: was like, Oh my god, that's dope. End of quote.
0:42
Speaker 1: Before that song even came out, words spread and she
0:44
Speaker 1: had another artist's track one of her songs, one called
0:46
Speaker 1: Without Me by Halsey. Both those songs came out within
0:49
Speaker 1: two weeks and a star was born. The Lacey's own
0:52
Speaker 1: song my Man is out now. That's direct from Hollywood.
