- 3:15Speaker 1: next is I call a kiky care or shared Kelly.
- 3:18Speaker 1: That's to my interview that she wasn't killing, but that's

- 3:45Speaker 1: an inspirational memoir book for your mind, body, spirit, and
- 3:49Speaker 1: if you're an entrepreneur your business, please work with the
- 3:53Speaker 1: money making conversation. She's my friend, Ki Ki care shared Kelly,
- 3:57Speaker 1: how you knowing my friend? I am doing? How are
- 4:00Speaker 1: you well? I'm excited, you know, I always get excited
- 4:03Speaker 1: talking to because you're an inspirational to me. I have
- 4:05Speaker 1: a twenty three year old daughter. And so whenever you
- 4:08Speaker 1: come on the show, I look for you the people
- 4:10Speaker 1: in her peer group, you know, because you're she looked
- 4:14Speaker 1: up to you. She follows you. She she finds uh
- 4:18Speaker 1: your unblinding faith, your your ability to achieve success. And
- 4:22Speaker 1: I usually as an example a lot of times. So
- 4:24Speaker 1: whenever you come on the show, I'm always excited and
- 4:27Speaker 1: she gets excited. So her name is Christianity McDonald's. But
- 4:31Speaker 1: thank you. Now let's talk about this book. Before we
- 4:33Speaker 1: talk about book, let's talk about now that the movie
- 4:36Speaker 1: been out, you know, because when I interviewed you, the
- 4:38Speaker 1: movie came out. But now we've had a year of
- 4:41Speaker 1: the movie being out. How has that transformed your life?
- 4:45Speaker 1: The movie I'm talking about is The Clark's Sisters First
- 4:48Speaker 1: Ladies of Gospel. Well, it has changed my life in
- 4:51Speaker 1: so many ways. One way is when I go to
- 4:53Speaker 1: the store now, I seem like more people know who
- 4:55Speaker 1: I am and they're relating to me as Karen or
- 4:58Speaker 1: calling me Karen. So it has changed my life in
- 5:02Speaker 1: that way. But it also stretched me to be honest
- 5:05Speaker 1: um trying to portray my mother vocally and just as
- 5:09Speaker 1: a person because she's so gracious and she's like a
- 5:12Speaker 1: quiet storm who is not intimidated by people. But it
- 5:15Speaker 1: comes off as like an innocence or like a it's
- 5:18Speaker 1: just so soft. I had to kind of pull back
- 5:21Speaker 1: while working on that role. So it's changed my life
- 5:24Speaker 1: as a woman, and I think it prepared me to
- 5:27Speaker 1: not knowing then while I was actually doing the role
- 5:30Speaker 1: as a single woman that is preparing me to be
- 5:32Speaker 1: a wife and a mother, just to see things differently. Um,
- 5:36Speaker 1: so it really has changed my life in so many ways.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Of course it was a resume builder, but it was
- 5:41Speaker 1: me performing for my mother, and so it was really
- 5:43Speaker 1: special for me. But it was special in a lot
- 5:45Speaker 1: of ways because you know, you reveal, you pull back
- 5:48Speaker 1: to the curtain. In other words, you know, they told
- 5:51Speaker 1: a story about your grandmother, told a story about your
- 5:53Speaker 1: mom and her sister's experience in dealing with your grandmother.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Someone was rather sensitive, and which is great because it
- 5:59Speaker 1: was a story about a woman pushing her children to
- 6:02Speaker 1: be the best that they could be. And I kind
- 6:04Speaker 1: of take that away and fast forward. I look at
- 6:07Speaker 1: the book Big, Bold and Beautiful. That book is about
- 6:10Speaker 1: pushing you and your friends pushing you and helping you
- 6:14Speaker 1: and supporting you to be the best key key you
- 6:17Speaker 1: can be? Is that correct? Absolutely? And I'm it's so
- 6:20Speaker 1: important because you know, I'm a woman to face. So
- 6:23Speaker 1: I believe in the scripture when it says that iron
- 6:25Speaker 1: sharping's iron. And I was just talking to my friend
- 6:28Speaker 1: Tasha Covs Lenard and she brought out a great point,
- 6:31Speaker 1: she said, Keith, when you say iron sharping's iron, it
- 6:34Speaker 1: could be negative iron that's sharpening negative iron ore. It
- 6:38Speaker 1: could be positive versus positive. And so I think it's
- 6:41Speaker 1: so important what I talked about it in the book
- 6:43Speaker 1: Self Care has everything to do with your squad. You know,
- 6:46Speaker 1: how they're pouring into you, how they're pushing you into destiny,
- 6:49Speaker 1: how they're reminding you of the promises of God. You
- 6:52Speaker 1: have people around you who's always picking at you, and
- 6:55Speaker 1: negative Nancy or negative Joe or whoever you want to
- 6:58Speaker 1: call it. It's like it'll drain you and it cause
- 7:00Speaker 1: you to believe the complete opposite of what you've been dreaming.
- 7:03Speaker 1: So I think it's so important to be very particular
- 7:07Speaker 1: what who's in your space, because you can ask somebody
- 7:09Speaker 1: that's against you and they can cover themselves up. It's
- 7:12Speaker 1: like a what do they say, a wolve in sheep's clothing.
- 7:15Speaker 1: So it's so important that we are selective in that area. Yes, well,
- 7:18Speaker 1: you know it's important we talk about this. I'm a
- 7:20Speaker 1: slow everything down because I want everybody to understand the
- 7:23Speaker 1: value of this book. And it's not a value that
- 7:27Speaker 1: just a female gender can can take. Nugget to wait.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I'm a successful in person in this business. I'm a male.
- 7:35Speaker 1: And when I started reading the book, I went, okay,
- 7:38Speaker 1: relatable because one of the chapters where you talk about
- 7:42Speaker 1: I always have a phrase, you know, you can't save everyone.
- 7:45Speaker 1: You know, you only have one life jacket. You gotta
- 7:47Speaker 1: let them go. You talk about it in one of
- 7:49Speaker 1: your chapters about that about people around you and not
- 7:52Speaker 1: understanding that you know, you can't worry sometimes about other
- 7:55Speaker 1: people's rent or the food on their table if they're
- 7:58Speaker 1: not if they don't worry body. And there's a chapter
- 8:01Speaker 1: about that, and it was really from a business and
- 8:04Speaker 1: from a life perspective. I was floored at the relatability
- 8:09Speaker 1: because I go, wow, this is how I think. And
- 8:12Speaker 1: so when some people do memoirs and you're such a
- 8:15Speaker 1: young person, I'm gonna I'm gonna remind you that you're
- 8:17Speaker 1: a young person. And but you also say I've lived
- 8:19Speaker 1: an adults life, you know, and so and we're gonna
- 8:21Speaker 1: get into that in the book, because but let's talk
- 8:23Speaker 1: about that. The whole chapter where you wrote about people
- 8:26Speaker 1: around you, and then you're taking it personal how you
- 8:29Speaker 1: should treat them. You over worry about them, what they
- 8:32Speaker 1: think about you, because it does as an entrepreneur, beyond
- 8:35Speaker 1: a relationship can be damaging. Correct, absolutely, And one thing
- 8:40Speaker 1: that I've learned, and I talked about it in the book,
- 8:43Speaker 1: is that when dealing with people, you have to understand
- 8:45Speaker 1: you're not just dealing with what you have on the surface,
- 8:47Speaker 1: but you're also dealing with the culture that they've come from,
- 8:50Speaker 1: the trauma that they've experienced. So you're not just responding
- 8:53Speaker 1: in that moment to the comment they made. It's a
- 8:56Speaker 1: lot of things that are behind that statement, you know,
- 8:59Speaker 1: when we communicate with each other or sometimes and I'm
- 9:02Speaker 1: nowhere in the culture now where everybody is living for
- 9:04Speaker 1: the read ready to let somebody have it. I'm about
- 9:07Speaker 1: to show this person sleep while sleep. But I guess
- 9:09Speaker 1: for me, the way I have been moving through life,
- 9:12Speaker 1: what has changed my perspective is to simply understand you're
- 9:16Speaker 1: not just responding to the person. You're responding to their
- 9:19Speaker 1: life circumstances that have molded them into who they are today.
- 9:23Speaker 1: And some people do things and it's not everything should
- 9:25Speaker 1: not be taken personally. So I absolutely agree with you.
- 9:28Speaker 1: And if we don't have that understanding, and if we're
- 9:30Speaker 1: always taking things personally will always be responding to any
- 9:34Speaker 1: and everything to where it will take so much energy.
- 9:37Speaker 1: It will shift our focus off of what we really
- 9:39Speaker 1: should be focused on onto that person and just that scenario.
- 9:44Speaker 1: And so I have had to learn that the picture
- 9:47Speaker 1: is bigger than me. It's it's so far beyond one moment,
- 9:51Speaker 1: like be a student at every opportunity you get. But
- 9:54Speaker 1: even in the book I talk about, it's a chapter
- 9:56Speaker 1: called making the most of every Opportunity, and I just
- 10:00Speaker 1: that absolutely Chapter four, that's the chapter where Shimika, you know,
- 10:06Speaker 1: and y'all went to West Africa, you know. And because
- 10:09Speaker 1: y'all read your book now I read your book. Now,
- 10:13Speaker 1: it's the beauty of this book. Okay, uh, we're talking
- 10:16Speaker 1: about I'm talking to Keiki or kre She or Kelly.
- 10:19Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about Jordan in a minute, you know,
- 10:21Speaker 1: because she had to she had to figure out how
- 10:23Speaker 1: to find him, and she talks about that journey because
- 10:26Speaker 1: sometimes you know, at one point in life. Let me
- 10:29Speaker 1: get ahead of the story, because I want to go
- 10:30Speaker 1: back a little bit about this is why I really
- 10:33Speaker 1: loved the book. Because you're you're beautiful, your your your faith,
- 10:38Speaker 1: you come from a legacy, family or gospel, and sometimes
- 10:43Speaker 1: people can see a certain degree of perfection. And we
- 10:47Speaker 1: talk about that a little bit in your book, you know,
- 10:49Speaker 1: the Silver Spoon chapter, Yeah, and finding yourself. And in
- 10:53Speaker 1: the process of that, when you talk about the bad relationship,
- 10:56Speaker 1: I went, wow, you know, because people don't think you
- 10:59Speaker 1: have a bad she said, people don't think that you
- 11:01Speaker 1: have bad days. And I felt to me. And it's
- 11:05Speaker 1: written early on in the book, because I thought that
- 11:07Speaker 1: was important, because any young reader, especially young women readers.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I thought that was important that you allowed yourself to
- 11:15Speaker 1: show us the side of you that we didn't see.
- 11:17Speaker 1: We see we see success, we see awards, we see
- 11:21Speaker 1: a happy marriage, we see photo ops in essence and
- 11:24Speaker 1: magazines and online. But that was important that you wrote
- 11:27Speaker 1: the truth to a degree of showing people that I
- 11:31Speaker 1: am just like you. I have bad days, I make
- 11:34Speaker 1: mistakes in the men that I select, I am not perfect.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Tell us about the importance of that. Well, first, it's
- 11:41Speaker 1: important at one scenario that I remember when I started
- 11:45Speaker 1: to understand the significance in the process of healing is
- 11:49Speaker 1: when I fell off of a bike. And I think
- 11:51Speaker 1: I talked about this in the book, but I fell
- 11:53Speaker 1: off of a bike and my mom, of course, she
- 11:56Speaker 1: told me, you know what to do, go ahead and
- 11:58Speaker 1: put on a band aid, but she noticed that I
- 12:00Speaker 1: kept getting in the tub and taking showers with the
- 12:02Speaker 1: same band aid, not cleaning it, and just the sore
- 12:05Speaker 1: or the scalp began to get soggy, so it wasn't
- 12:08Speaker 1: healing properly. So it was becoming something more than what
- 12:12Speaker 1: it actually was in that moment. So speaking of transparency
- 12:15Speaker 1: and letting these things out, it's a part of healing.
- 12:18Speaker 1: You have to let oxygen into your wound so that
- 12:20Speaker 1: they can heal properly. And that's what I'm doing through
- 12:23Speaker 1: my life and through me speaking about it, through me
- 12:25Speaker 1: talking about it. But not only that. This form appealing
- 12:28Speaker 1: which as a woman of faith, there's a scripture that says,
- 12:31Speaker 1: confess your thoughts one to another that you may receive healing.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Therapy did not come from culture. Therapy came from God.
- 12:39Speaker 1: He says, I'm gonna give you people that you can
- 12:41Speaker 1: talk to. But the latter part of that scripture says,
- 12:44Speaker 1: the prayers are the righteous avail. If much, it's just
- 12:47Speaker 1: all in who I talked to. If I'm talking to
- 12:49Speaker 1: the right person, A righteous individual. I can trust that
- 12:52Speaker 1: then they can carry my secrets, carry my issues, and
- 12:56Speaker 1: then take them to God because I need someone to
- 12:58Speaker 1: take me to God or carry me to a God
- 13:00Speaker 1: when I can't get myself to them. And so that
- 13:02Speaker 1: even speaks to the self squad piece of it. But
- 13:05Speaker 1: that's why I wanted to be transparent here, because I
- 13:08Speaker 1: want you to know that I can relate. And I
- 13:11Speaker 1: think the connectivity again, like we've mentioned, it's all in
- 13:14Speaker 1: providing a solution for someone who may feel like they're alone.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Very often will soak in it, will get into depression,
- 13:21Speaker 1: will become anxious, and it's because we feel like we're alone.
- 13:25Speaker 1: And so with this conversational approach and me hoping that
- 13:28Speaker 1: the reader would be like, you know what, this is
- 13:30Speaker 1: my girl, I can relate, I connect I'm hoping that
- 13:33Speaker 1: they will become free from listening and reading to that
- 13:36Speaker 1: so reading the book. So that was my whole intent.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Transparency is healing me, but it's in return healing the
- 13:42Speaker 1: reader as well. It's finally here the season of celebration,
- 13:46Speaker 1: and no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,
- 13:49Speaker 1: whether you're preparing for reys magos or karamu, lighting the
- 13:53Speaker 1: Manura are going to Midnight mass Wools has just what

- 14:19Speaker 1: in the spirit of giving, Coals Cares is donating eight

- 15:18Speaker 1: a wizard with arms outstretched to the sky. They see
- 15:22Speaker 1: treasure and pebbles. They see a windy path that could
- 15:25Speaker 1: lead to adventure, and they see you. They're fearless. Guide.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Is this fascinating world? Find a forest near you and
- 15:33Speaker 1: start exploring and discover the forest dot org brought to
- 15:36Speaker 1: you by the United States Forest Service and the AD Council. Well,
- 15:39Speaker 1: you had attitude in this book to freshman that do
- 15:42Speaker 1: and do he gonna call you unattractive and mess with
- 15:45Speaker 1: your weight and you could, Hey, maybe my bigness is
- 15:48Speaker 1: just too enough for your smallness. I went and you
- 15:54Speaker 1: know what it is so many of us who allowed
- 15:57Speaker 1: people to speak to us in and sometimes it is
- 16:00Speaker 1: from places we don't expect, and so and just to
- 16:02Speaker 1: answer your question and there because I know I went
- 16:04Speaker 1: a far left field. But I wanted to talk about
- 16:07Speaker 1: it because I had to get it wrong for me
- 16:09Speaker 1: to understand what was right. And that's what led me
- 16:12Speaker 1: to my husband. Now this healthy relationship. Like before, I
- 16:16Speaker 1: was like, Hey, I want to pray in my relationships,
- 16:19Speaker 1: or I want you to call me a little bit
- 16:21Speaker 1: more often, send me a text check on me. In
- 16:23Speaker 1: another relationship, that was too much for them. But now
- 16:27Speaker 1: that I'm with my husband, and just in the first
- 16:29Speaker 1: dating steps of you know, with Jordan's, he showed me
- 16:33Speaker 1: that I wasn't too much. It was just that I
- 16:35Speaker 1: was asking someone who only had a pint um to
- 16:39Speaker 1: pour into this gallon size of Now I'm with Jordan's,
- 16:43Speaker 1: he can give me a gallant. I can give him
- 16:45Speaker 1: a gallant with filling each other up. And so that's
- 16:47Speaker 1: why I wanted to tell young women that to the
- 16:50Speaker 1: other problem was speaking of young people. My father told
- 16:53Speaker 1: me the rude word of dating is data. Talk about
- 16:57Speaker 1: money making conversations. We put up ourselves for discount, Louis Vitton,
- 17:01Speaker 1: don't go on discount. Why do you think you need
- 17:04Speaker 1: to put yourself up on discount? So make sure you
- 17:07Speaker 1: understand that you don't have to play wife to someone
- 17:10Speaker 1: that's only making themselves available as boyfriend. Play the game,
- 17:14Speaker 1: and as Steve Harvey said, think act like a woman,
- 17:17Speaker 1: but think like a man. And so that's why I
- 17:19Speaker 1: had to play the game and I had to learn Listen,
- 17:22Speaker 1: I may not be your cup of tea, but I'm
- 17:24Speaker 1: for show a hot, spicy comp of tea. It's some
- 17:28Speaker 1: it's some ginger in there. Okay, I'm telling you, this
- 17:32Speaker 1: is the book. This is the book. I'm like, I'm
- 17:37Speaker 1: t I am so excited, you know this, this whole book,
- 17:41Speaker 1: The Big Bowl and Beautiful Owning the woman God made
- 17:44Speaker 1: you to be. And that's just a sample size of
- 17:48Speaker 1: what came out and just hit me in my face
- 17:50Speaker 1: in a positive way because this is We're in an
- 17:54Speaker 1: interesting life because, like you said, when you was eighteen,
- 17:57Speaker 1: in the period when you hit the record labels, they
- 18:00Speaker 1: only take pictures of your face and profiles. They didn't
- 18:03Speaker 1: really want to take a picture of your full body.
- 18:05Speaker 1: That was before you know, the curved dove came out
- 18:08Speaker 1: with those curvy ads and the curvy full figure models
- 18:11Speaker 1: were hitting the runways and all that. Talk about that period.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Because I have a lot of parents listening to the show,
- 18:17Speaker 1: and I may have some young adults, especially women, and
- 18:20Speaker 1: this is about the section. I really want to focus
- 18:22Speaker 1: on the women conversation because men in journal don't have
- 18:25Speaker 1: the physical size issues that women have to deal with,
- 18:28Speaker 1: because commercials tell you should look like this, commercial print
- 18:32Speaker 1: asks tell you should wear this size and things like that,
- 18:35Speaker 1: and then we're gonna get into you being launching that
- 18:37Speaker 1: that that what someone would consider a negative experience into
- 18:40Speaker 1: a successful business eleven sixty. But talk about when you
- 18:44Speaker 1: was eighteen at the record label. Yeah, I'm so excited
- 18:48Speaker 1: that you read. But I have to say, um, that
- 18:54Speaker 1: was an interesting experience. And I think I mentioned before
- 18:58Speaker 1: while we were talking. Sometimes you have this pushback from
- 19:02Speaker 1: areas that you didn't expect it, and it can be
- 19:05Speaker 1: from places that you trusted, hoping that it will be
- 19:07Speaker 1: a place to that would build you up. But that's
- 19:10Speaker 1: the moment where you figure out, oh you're therena tear
- 19:13Speaker 1: me down. It was just you had to get in
- 19:15Speaker 1: good with me. And so I definitely had that that
- 19:18Speaker 1: experience where, um, you know, I just dealt with industry
- 19:22Speaker 1: pressure and um it's simple as I am, I often
- 19:26Speaker 1: still have to tell people, you know, listen, I love
- 19:29Speaker 1: God I'm a simple girl. I don't want to always
- 19:32Speaker 1: put on and I think this, uh, the new culture
- 19:35Speaker 1: and even the listeners and the demo, they're learning that
- 19:39Speaker 1: I don't got to do all of that, you know, anymore.
- 19:43Speaker 1: And if I don't, there is an audience that is
- 19:45Speaker 1: waiting to hear from me. And of course, now I'm
- 19:48Speaker 1: not saying don't change your position in heart, because I
- 19:51Speaker 1: think it's so important that we remain students at heart,
- 19:55Speaker 1: because that's what makes you timeless. But I think, uh,
- 19:58Speaker 1: the other piece that young women should know it is
- 20:01Speaker 1: to not compare yourselves. Uh. I think Theodore Roosevelt said
- 20:05Speaker 1: before that comparison is the thief of joy. You'll find
- 20:08Speaker 1: yourself trying to catch up with culture saying is the
- 20:10Speaker 1: pretty thing to do or the thing to do, and
- 20:13Speaker 1: find that it's unobtainable for you because that was never
- 20:16Speaker 1: for you, that wasn't assigned to you. And so speaking
- 20:19Speaker 1: of the word big in this this book, uh, it was.
- 20:22Speaker 1: It was an insecurity for me once upon a time.
- 20:25Speaker 1: But I had to stop asking people what they thought
- 20:27Speaker 1: about me in my life, and I had to ask God,
- 20:30Speaker 1: what do you think? Let me ask the inventor about
- 20:33Speaker 1: his invention rather than going with people. That's just trying
- 20:36Speaker 1: to figure out how do I stay in touch with you.
- 20:38Speaker 1: But I have those chapters in the book, and one
- 20:40Speaker 1: chapter chapter eight, and says, stop comparing you stole my
- 20:44Speaker 1: I'm so mad at you. You stole my thought because
- 20:46Speaker 1: I'm about to say that chapter eight. I'm about to
- 20:48Speaker 1: say stop comparing yourself. It's chapter eight. You're making me mad. Now,
- 20:52Speaker 1: I gotta let you know I love this book, girl,
- 20:55Speaker 1: I love the book. That's chapter eight. You just recited
- 20:59Speaker 1: chapter eight, Yes, sir, And I was gonna throw out
- 21:01Speaker 1: that chapter um chapter fourteen to where I say, stop
- 21:07Speaker 1: looking at the other woman because you've got the Jews. Sometimes.
- 21:11Speaker 1: The court I love out of chapter eight is no
- 21:13Speaker 1: one had the power to be me. Yeah, that's and
- 21:17Speaker 1: that's the quote I wrote down out of chapter eight.
- 21:19Speaker 1: That's why I still with me, because you know, you know,
- 21:22Speaker 1: I'm having a great conversation and with you, and I
- 21:25Speaker 1: just want to just let you know that it resonated
- 21:27Speaker 1: with me because in the end, you know, writing the book,
- 21:32Speaker 1: you know, I've been fortunate to be around individuals who
- 21:35Speaker 1: have written a successful book. And as you start to write,
- 21:37Speaker 1: you have a story but then you start taking layers
- 21:40Speaker 1: off and you go, wow, I forgot about that. I
- 21:42Speaker 1: forgot about that. And then I know in writing this book,
- 21:46Speaker 1: layers are starting to get peel back. And it's also
- 21:50Speaker 1: is a relief, Like like you said, to be able
- 21:52Speaker 1: to tell your story was a blessing for the reader,
- 21:55Speaker 1: but also a blessing from you for you because of
- 21:58Speaker 1: the fact that you would able to get these layers
- 22:01Speaker 1: out and realize how much you've grown as a person.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Because at one point in your life you just want
- 22:06Speaker 1: to get married. You just felt there was a need
- 22:08Speaker 1: to get married. And I want to bring that up
- 22:10Speaker 1: because sometimes a man in this case, because you're a woman,
- 22:14Speaker 1: a man would walk into your life, that doesn't mean
- 22:16Speaker 1: that's the man. And and and that's what this book
- 22:20Speaker 1: talks about because the man that she eventually got with,
- 22:24Speaker 1: who had that gallon of water because she needed a
- 22:27Speaker 1: gallon of water, she had known him all her life.
- 22:31Speaker 1: He had been walking around all his and he didn't
- 22:33Speaker 1: even know it either. So it wasn't on her. It
- 22:36Speaker 1: wasn't just on her not seeing that that that they
- 22:39Speaker 1: both were walking into church or walking through life half field.
- 22:43Speaker 1: They had eventually slowed down and realized we've been looking
- 22:47Speaker 1: at the wrong opportunity when the opportunity was sitting right
- 22:50Speaker 1: across the aisle in this case church. Talk about that.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Come on, I know, preaching a little bit for your
- 22:56Speaker 1: MISSI Kiki. You know what I'm saying. You are driving
- 23:01Speaker 1: jails and I'm loving it. Um, I can only agree
- 23:05Speaker 1: with you. I think to a part of that evolution
- 23:08Speaker 1: for me was me having the time of being single.
- 23:13Speaker 1: So there's also a chapter in the book where I
- 23:15Speaker 1: talk about being successfully single because you have to find
- 23:18Speaker 1: yourself because, like you said, every person that comes in
- 23:22Speaker 1: your life that ain't always the one. And I think
- 23:26Speaker 1: it goes back a point to the again to the
- 23:28Speaker 1: point that Dad mentioned, which was date the person, collect
- 23:32Speaker 1: the information so you can draw the conclusion or the
- 23:36Speaker 1: final result. So I definitely agree. I think you said
- 23:40Speaker 1: it all. But again my husband showed me that no,
- 23:44Speaker 1: you're not complicated. It's just you were asking the wrong
- 23:46Speaker 1: person to love on you and they weren't equipped to
- 23:49Speaker 1: give you what you needed. And so I definitely agree
- 23:53Speaker 1: with that all. And I think too, if we're not
- 23:55Speaker 1: careful because we are in the wrong place, will begin settling.
- 24:00Speaker 1: We'll say I've been asking for this. I've been praying
- 24:02Speaker 1: for this, and we'll look at everybody else's like like
- 24:05Speaker 1: I said, once upon a time, what was Sierra's prayer
- 24:08Speaker 1: with russell Um? And so I understand what that's like.
- 24:11Speaker 1: But we also have to get to a place where
- 24:14Speaker 1: I'm not settling for anything outside of what I asked for, Like, no,
- 24:20Speaker 1: that's out there. If God put it in you uh
- 24:22Speaker 1: to ask for it in prayer, if you have the
- 24:24Speaker 1: audacity to think of it, then it's obtainable. It's just
- 24:28Speaker 1: make sure you're available and open to love. But I
- 24:31Speaker 1: was so closed off and wanting one thing to work
- 24:35Speaker 1: that I completely had shut off every you know, all
- 24:37Speaker 1: of the great possibilities. So I agree with Customer service
- 24:42Speaker 1: outsourcing used to be about minimal effort. Now with Ubiquity,
- 24:45Speaker 1: it's about delivering great customer service, from engagement to renewal,

- 26:07Speaker 1: forest dot orgon brought to you by the United States
- 26:09Speaker 1: Forest Service and the council. Well, you know, by the
- 26:12Speaker 1: way successfully singles. Chapter twelve, okay, chapter twenty just laid down. No,
- 26:18Speaker 1: were just breaking down the chapter as you go alone,
- 26:20Speaker 1: because now I want to go back before we wrap up.
- 26:23Speaker 1: I wanted to talk about the entrepreneurship because that's a
- 26:26Speaker 1: part of this that really blew this book up for
- 26:28Speaker 1: me because it's written from a woman's perspective, but it
- 26:33Speaker 1: also layers out how you took a negative you know,
- 26:37Speaker 1: uh and turning into a business. But along the way
- 26:41Speaker 1: you had to uh you know, because because it was
- 26:44Speaker 1: a link that I think Lukisha sent to you, the
- 26:48Speaker 1: Lukisha sent to you that that enabled you to get
- 26:51Speaker 1: into Macy's. And so that's why you say you are
- 26:55Speaker 1: the ball. That's the that's the God is the ball,
- 26:57Speaker 1: bar God is your agent. That's that chapter. God is
- 26:59Speaker 1: that age the chapter. And I'll tell I'll tell, okay,
- 27:08Speaker 1: I um, you know, I for the reason I'm excited
- 27:11Speaker 1: because you know, I've interviewed you and we we've we've
- 27:13Speaker 1: we've we've because we like our tone. But to really
- 27:18Speaker 1: see how beautiful you are and how how you you
- 27:22Speaker 1: you're giving us a blessing in this book to be
- 27:24Speaker 1: able to change lives. That's because that's what I think,
- 27:27Speaker 1: like a man, Uh did for a lot of women.
- 27:29Speaker 1: It just opened their eyes. And this book can do
- 27:32Speaker 1: so much for so many young women, women who are
- 27:36Speaker 1: trying to start businesses, women who are frustrating relationship, women
- 27:40Speaker 1: who are doubting themselves physically, mentally, emotionally, but more importantly,
- 27:45Speaker 1: the fastest growing business of franchise, of of of of
- 27:49Speaker 1: the business world or women and especially women of color.
- 27:53Speaker 1: And to write a book where I think lends so
- 27:56Speaker 1: many value lessons of how to cause. I've talked about
- 28:00Speaker 1: Courtney and Courtney that's your ride or die? You know
- 28:03Speaker 1: what I'm saying. When was being stupid, you called Courtney
- 28:06Speaker 1: and she didn't say nothing negative about you, she didn't
- 28:08Speaker 1: throw it back in your face. She said, hey, come
- 28:10Speaker 1: with me, girl, let's go over here. Let's keep supporting you.
- 28:13Speaker 1: And so, but these are the people that you talk about.
- 28:16Speaker 1: You layout you said, Richard, you gotta have the people
- 28:18Speaker 1: because you know, it was funny when you were talking
- 28:20Speaker 1: about Courtney, I was thinking about my ride to die? Dude,
- 28:22Speaker 1: who was that person? So you made me sit back
- 28:25Speaker 1: and go, Okay, Mr Successful, who is your courtney, because
- 28:29Speaker 1: you gotta have a courtney. You gotta have somebody to
- 28:31Speaker 1: call when you die, because you're gonna have down days,
- 28:33Speaker 1: you have doubtful days. Who was that person? But more importantly,
- 28:37Speaker 1: that led you to become an entrepreneur and that's where
- 28:40Speaker 1: you had you know, your your other girl stepping in
- 28:43Speaker 1: when your travel made with all over the world career,
- 28:46Speaker 1: everything for your business, and was sitting right there with
- 28:48Speaker 1: you in Macy's launching. Your didn't know what you was
- 28:51Speaker 1: really doing, but you did it. That's his faith. But
- 28:54Speaker 1: there was also having somebody support your dream, talk about that.
- 28:58Speaker 1: It's important. And I've been in a space where I've
- 29:02Speaker 1: had people around that we're there, you know, just by
- 29:06Speaker 1: work and happenstance, but they weren't really in my corner.
- 29:09Speaker 1: They didn't understand my vision um and it's like, you know, okay,
- 29:13Speaker 1: how do we collaborate together? How are we? You know?
- 29:15Speaker 1: Life partners is not just in the marriage and has
- 29:18Speaker 1: everything to to do with your purpose. When you make
- 29:21Speaker 1: decisions in your work or in your career, it shouldn't
- 29:24Speaker 1: feel like work. It should feel like fun, like I'm
- 29:27Speaker 1: just I'm just living on purpose. This is just what
- 29:29Speaker 1: I'm called to do. And I think that when you're
- 29:33Speaker 1: prayerful and asking God Lord, give me this sense of
- 29:36Speaker 1: dissernment so I can know who is assigned to me
- 29:39Speaker 1: and who's supposed to watch this journey for me or
- 29:41Speaker 1: with me. Because there are expiration dates on some relationships
- 29:45Speaker 1: and connections that we have. But if we don't respect them,
- 29:49Speaker 1: then we'll get exasperated, we can become sick. It's like
- 29:52Speaker 1: if we drink some milk that has an expiration date
- 29:55Speaker 1: on it, eventually it will make us sick. Our bodies
- 29:57Speaker 1: won't respond well to it. And so it's this aint
- 30:00Speaker 1: thing with people. So you said it again from reading
- 30:03Speaker 1: the book, but it's so important to make sure that
- 30:06Speaker 1: tribe and I talk about it again twice. So it
- 30:09Speaker 1: was Squad goes and then it was another chapter called
- 30:11Speaker 1: finding your Tribe. When you're going out into the earth,
- 30:14Speaker 1: you it's not you can't fight everything. You need somebody
- 30:18Speaker 1: to have your back. And so those names that you called,
- 30:21Speaker 1: they're simply women who I have said it is family.
- 30:24Speaker 1: And you know what, if you allow me as a
- 30:26Speaker 1: woman of faith, I'm always giving scripture. But there's a
- 30:28Speaker 1: scripture that says, um I will give you a friend
- 30:31Speaker 1: that is closer than the brother that wasn't Jesus that
- 30:34Speaker 1: they were talking about. They were talking about human beings,
- 30:38Speaker 1: and so I think we should understand that covenant relationships
- 30:42Speaker 1: are ordained by Heaven and God loves us through people.
- 30:46Speaker 1: But it's just a matter of who are the people
- 30:48Speaker 1: were saying yes to. Because the adversary the appoint the
- 30:52Speaker 1: opponent that he also uses people. So make sure you
- 30:55Speaker 1: say yes to the right people. Wow. You know, um,
- 31:00Speaker 1: I think that I expected this from you. Uh, and
- 31:04Speaker 1: that don't apologize. Uh, It's been an inspirational but the
- 31:10Speaker 1: whole prospect though, would you say it is faith? When
- 31:13Speaker 1: you was at Macy's with Shamika, your girl, you're you're
- 31:17Speaker 1: rider die Korea, you know, Dubai. I'm just we're just
- 31:21Speaker 1: calling out some countries that y'all went to, you know,
- 31:23Speaker 1: in West Africa. You know. Just let you know, you
- 31:25Speaker 1: boy read the book, you know, just this case. You
- 31:27Speaker 1: thought I was stumbling. You know, I'm not reading nothing.
- 31:29Speaker 1: I'm not reading nothing. I'm just I'm just I'm just
- 31:32Speaker 1: coming from you know, God's membory. That's all. That's all
- 31:34Speaker 1: I'm doing. God God's spending right here, but but you
- 31:38Speaker 1: thank you so much. I think it was it was.
- 31:41Speaker 1: It was a faith piece for sure, because um it,
- 31:46Speaker 1: I looked at it as spam when my cousin Keisha
- 31:48Speaker 1: sent it to me, I was like, girl, you know
- 31:50Speaker 1: how they send those chain text messages and they say
- 31:53Speaker 1: signed up for this, and I'm like, I'm not signing
- 31:55Speaker 1: up for this, Like it was just like whatever. So
- 31:58Speaker 1: I really wasn't expecting every opportunity, even this book opportunity,
- 32:02Speaker 1: if you allow me to use that as a reference point.
- 32:04Speaker 1: The opportunity was in an email account that I just
- 32:08Speaker 1: had put aside for spam. But something told me, and
- 32:12Speaker 1: you know again, excuse me, I'm a church girl, so
- 32:15Speaker 1: you're know how the scene the season says, they say, girl,
- 32:18Speaker 1: that wasn't something that was the whole a goals. But
- 32:20Speaker 1: something told me to go and check the email and
- 32:24Speaker 1: here I am bumping into a book opportunity. And so
- 32:28Speaker 1: I definitely think it was divine. But I think and
- 32:31Speaker 1: I believe, that God uses people to hand you what
- 32:36Speaker 1: belongs to you, that he gives you those moments. And
- 32:39Speaker 1: that's why I said it in that chapter, Um, God
- 32:42Speaker 1: as my agent, because sometimes you know pr management they
- 32:46Speaker 1: I mean believe me when I say they put in
- 32:49Speaker 1: the hard work and it has everything to do with
- 32:51Speaker 1: where we're going and where we are. But sometimes God
- 32:54Speaker 1: does things so that only he can get the glory.
- 32:57Speaker 1: And so I will say, you know, God took me there,
- 33:01Speaker 1: but there was some other moments where I had to
- 33:03Speaker 1: work for it. So even in the word it says
- 33:05Speaker 1: you gotta put action to your faith so you can
- 33:08Speaker 1: believe a thing. But what you're gonna do when you
- 33:10Speaker 1: get there? So a lot of us are like, oh,
- 33:12Speaker 1: I want this, I want that, I want this, I
- 33:14Speaker 1: want that, But are you ready for it? Is your
- 33:16Speaker 1: character gonna keep you there? Is your work ethic gonna
- 33:19Speaker 1: keep you there. So I definitely think it is two
- 33:22Speaker 1: things that are colliding together, and it is my faith
- 33:25Speaker 1: and my action. I'm just I've been loving it. You know.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I rarely do I have interviews whereas a motivational This
- 33:32Speaker 1: motivational interview right here, you just dropping these nuggers. I
- 33:36Speaker 1: was just sitting back on do your thing. You're do
- 33:38Speaker 1: your thing? What do I pass to plate? What do
- 33:39Speaker 1: I pass to play? Because you are dropping scriptures, you're
