Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We've got a lot to talk about, including China tariffs
- 0:03Speaker 1: going to one hundred and four percent. At midnight was
- 0:07Speaker 1: the announcement from the White House not messing around, making
- 0:11Speaker 1: it clear they're ready to make a deal with China,
- 0:13Speaker 1: but they're not going to allow China take advantage of
- 0:15Speaker 1: the US. In other words, we're willing to go back
- 0:18Speaker 1: and forth as long as you want to. After China
- 0:21Speaker 1: retaliated with extreme tariffs on the US. Now the White
- 0:25Speaker 1: House is doing much more than just dealing with China.
- 0:28Speaker 1: There's also some really exciting news coming out of the
- 0:31Speaker 1: White House, and I want.
- 0:31Speaker 2: To get to that first.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Because the President of the United States of America standing
- 0:36Speaker 1: with American workers, with the coal miners, their families and
- 0:40Speaker 1: talking about energy independence, talking about putting miners back to
- 0:45Speaker 1: work at the White House, explaining that it's time for
- 0:48Speaker 1: us to be careful that we're not relying on others,
- 0:51Speaker 1: and it's an issue also of national security.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Here's part of what the presidents at the White House.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Take a listen.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Today, we're taking historic action to help American workers, miners, families,
- 1:01Speaker 3: and consumers. We're ending Joe Biden's war on beautiful clean
- 1:05Speaker 3: call once and for all, and it wasn't just Biden,
- 1:08Speaker 3: it was Obama and there were others. But we're doing
- 1:13Speaker 3: the exact opposite. And all those plants that have been
- 1:18Speaker 3: closed are going to be opened if they're modern enough,
- 1:21Speaker 3: or they'll be ripped down and brand new ones will
- 1:24Speaker 3: be built.
- 1:25Speaker 4: We're going to put the miners back to work.
- 1:27Speaker 3: And I said I was going to do this, and
- 1:30Speaker 3: I've said it loud and clear, and it's time to
- 1:33Speaker 3: do it.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Then we need it now.
- 1:36Speaker 1: The President mentioned their historic action. This is because he's
- 1:40Speaker 1: no longer going to war with coal miners. He's saying,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'm here to help you. I'm here to help Americans.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I'm here to help your families. I'm here to help
- 1:47Speaker 1: consumers as we are continuing to see the prices of
- 1:51Speaker 1: oil and gas prices go down all over the country.
- 1:54Speaker 1: The President making it clear this is the Democrat Party's fault,
- 1:58Speaker 1: and that's why I said We're ending Joe Biden war
- 2:01Speaker 1: on beautiful, clean coal once and for all. The President
- 2:05Speaker 1: also talked about these important energy workers and coal miners,
- 2:08Speaker 1: saying it's time for us to treat them like the
- 2:10Speaker 1: American patriots that they are. They have been demonized by
- 2:14Speaker 1: the left, and he said not in my administration.
- 2:17Speaker 3: The energy workers and the coal miners in the area
- 2:22Speaker 3: that I'm standing on, and there's a lot of weight
- 2:24Speaker 3: on this platform. So I don't know what's going to happen.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I hope it's structurally designed for you guys. I don't know,
- 2:30Speaker 3: but we have just really well deserving, great American patriots,
- 2:36Speaker 3: and it's such an honor to be here and making
- 2:41Speaker 3: such a big move, such a bold move and energy
- 2:44Speaker 3: because you know, for years people were just bemoan.
- 2:49Speaker 4: This industry and.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Decimate the industry for absolutely no reason. Because with modern
- 2:56Speaker 3: technology and all of the other things that.
- 3:00Speaker 4: We do, it's one of the great great forms of energy.
- 3:02Speaker 3: That's why other countries, leading countries are using it, some exclusively.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Some exclusively, also reminding that the Green New Deal is
- 3:11Speaker 1: over and that there's other countries are using this exclusively
- 3:15Speaker 1: to explain that hey, we're not going to have all
- 3:18Speaker 1: these initiatives around a Green New Deal. We're not going
- 3:21Speaker 1: to push everything into all this alternative energy. We must
- 3:25Speaker 1: have energy independance. It is part of our national security
- 3:28Speaker 1: and that's vitally important. The President also talking about the
- 3:32Speaker 1: policy differences here and explain that Biden's energy policy was
- 3:36Speaker 1: really one simple thing, put Americans last, make you pay
- 3:42Speaker 1: way more than you should for energy, and hurt the
- 3:45Speaker 1: American family, And he says that stops today.
- 3:48Speaker 3: The Democrats Green new scam killed jobs and sent prices
- 3:52Speaker 3: soaring here in America. But meanwhile, China opened two coal
- 3:56Speaker 3: plants every single week, and other countries likewise went very
- 4:01Speaker 3: strongly back into coal. Some of them never got off.
- 4:05Speaker 3: Those are the ones that didn't have the problems. The
- 4:07Speaker 3: Biden energy policy was to put America last.
- 4:10Speaker 4: We want to be least. We got to be lest,
- 4:13Speaker 4: not a good policy.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Under my administration, we're putting America first.
- 4:16Speaker 4: It's very simple. America is always going to be first.
- 4:20Speaker 3: On my first day in office, I terminated the Green
- 4:22Speaker 3: new scam, I declared the National Energy Emergency and withdrew
- 4:27Speaker 3: from the unfair one side and extremely costly to the
- 4:30Speaker 3: United States.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Only Paris climate accurt.
- 4:33Speaker 1: And that wasn't all that the President had to say
- 4:36Speaker 1: when it comes to our policy. The President also said
- 4:39Speaker 1: we're going to get rid of regulations at this White
- 4:42Speaker 1: House event with coal miners behind him, saying that that's
- 4:45Speaker 1: one of the biggest problems is we've used the government
- 4:48Speaker 1: to decide and choose winners and losers. This is part
- 4:51Speaker 1: of that green new scam, as he mentioned, where you
- 4:54Speaker 1: have a government that says we will subsidize certain things
- 4:57Speaker 1: that we like and we will destroy us things that
- 5:00Speaker 1: we don't like. That is the Democratic Party and what
- 5:03Speaker 1: they believe in. The President said, also, those days are
- 5:07Speaker 1: over as well.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Now under the executive order that I will sign in
- 5:11Speaker 3: a few moments, we're slashing unnecessary regulations that targeted.
- 5:16Speaker 4: The beautiful clean Call.
- 5:18Speaker 3: We will rapidly expedite leases for coal mining on federal lands,
- 5:22Speaker 3: and these two gentlemen are going to do a real
- 5:25Speaker 3: job of it.
- 5:25Speaker 4: You've already started, and we'll.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Streamline permitting, we will end the government bias against call,
- 5:31Speaker 3: and we're going to unlock the sweeping authorities of Defense
- 5:35Speaker 3: Production Act, the Defense Production Act.
- 5:39Speaker 1: So this is clearly going to have an instant impact
- 5:42Speaker 1: on the pricing when it comes to what it's going
- 5:45Speaker 1: to cost you this winter, in this summer, whether it's gas,
- 5:49Speaker 1: or whether it's heating your home, whether it is buying
- 5:52Speaker 1: certain goods that use a lot of energy.
- 5:54Speaker 2: What the President said there was.
- 5:56Speaker 1: We're slashing these unnecessary regulations and why because we need
- 6:01Speaker 1: to expand rapidly coal mining in federal lands is a yes,
- 6:06Speaker 1: well streamline permitting. Yes, we're going to end the government
- 6:09Speaker 1: bias against coal. Yes, and we're going to unlock all
- 6:12Speaker 1: of this so the American people get a better deal
- 6:15Speaker 1: and also so we are not giving money to our
- 6:18Speaker 1: adversaries or we are at a disadvantage with the rest
- 6:21Speaker 1: of the world. The President saying this is the plan
- 6:25Speaker 1: moving forward. He also said this, We're going to guarantee
- 6:29Speaker 1: that this country for many years to come, has what
- 6:33Speaker 1: it needs to succeed, specifically when it comes to businesses,
- 6:38Speaker 1: because this is what this is all about.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Get a guarantee that we have a strong business for
- 6:46Speaker 3: many years to come, that your coal companies and your
- 6:50Speaker 3: miners don't get all excited about their jobs. And then
- 6:54Speaker 3: should a radical left liberal become president, they end the
- 6:59Speaker 3: business right And somebody's built a plant and spent hundreds
- 7:02Speaker 3: of millions of dollars in building a plant, and the
- 7:05Speaker 3: plant is going to be closed because a Democrat got
- 7:09Speaker 3: in or a liberal got in. They're opposed to call
- 7:12Speaker 3: and Republicans are very much for it, clean call, and
- 7:16Speaker 3: we're we're going to give a guarantee that the business
- 7:20Speaker 3: will not be terminated by the ups and downs of
- 7:23Speaker 3: the world of politics. So should somebody come in to
- 7:27Speaker 3: this very important office and say, oh, well, you spend
- 7:31Speaker 3: hundreds of millions of dollars and you guys have given
- 7:34Speaker 3: up your life because you want to be in call,
- 7:37Speaker 3: and then all of a sudden you don't have a
- 7:39Speaker 3: life anymore because it's what you know the best.
- 7:41Speaker 4: That's not going to happen.
- 7:42Speaker 3: We're going to give a guarantee that's not going to happen,
- 7:44Speaker 3: so that if somebody comes in they cannot change it
- 7:47Speaker 3: at a whim. They cannot just to go. They're going
- 7:49Speaker 3: to have to go through hell to close you up,
- 7:51Speaker 3: all right, So that's pretty good. We're going to give
- 7:53Speaker 3: that in the form of a guarantee that we're writing
- 7:55Speaker 3: on right now structurally and from a legal standpoint, so
- 7:59Speaker 3: you Spencer could also be protected.
- 8:02Speaker 1: The president again putting American workers first. This is a
- 8:07Speaker 1: big guarantee from this president, and it's not just a
- 8:10Speaker 1: promise that he man in the campaign trail, but he's
- 8:12Speaker 1: actually paying off on it right now.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Now.
- 8:14Speaker 1: All this is happening while we're also dealing with everything
- 8:17Speaker 1: with the tariffs. The President also giving some good news
- 8:21Speaker 1: on tariffs as well. Take a listen to what President
- 8:24Speaker 1: Trump had to say about how much money we're bringing
- 8:27Speaker 1: in already from what he has done.
- 8:29Speaker 3: And for those of you that want to know the tariffs,
- 8:32Speaker 3: you've been hearing about tariffs with taking in almost two
- 8:35Speaker 3: billion dollars a day in tariffs, two billion a day,
- 8:39Speaker 3: and we're doing very well.
- 8:47Speaker 4: And we're doing very well.
- 8:48Speaker 3: And making I call them tailor deals, not off the rack.
- 8:51Speaker 3: These are tailored, highly tailored deals. Right now, Japan is
- 8:55Speaker 3: flying here to make a deal. South Korea is flying.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Here to make a deal, and others are flying here.
- 9:02Speaker 4: I mean, our my only problem is I'm not sure
- 9:04Speaker 4: I have enough.
- 9:04Speaker 3: We're gonna have to use those those great law firms
- 9:07Speaker 3: I think to help us with that.
- 9:09Speaker 4: But we're gonna probably do that.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Actually, we're gonna use them, and we're getting them for
- 9:14Speaker 3: the right price because we have to.
- 9:17Speaker 4: We need a lot of talent.
- 9:18Speaker 1: We have a lot of two billion a day while
- 9:21Speaker 1: you're getting a better deal for Americans, American workers, American manufacturing.
- 9:26Speaker 2: I mean, this is pretty impressive, he says.
- 9:29Speaker 1: We're doing all of these deals, and as he said,
- 9:31Speaker 1: right now Japan is flying.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Here to make a deal.
- 9:34Speaker 1: South Korea is flying here to make a deal, and
- 9:36Speaker 1: others are flying here. They understand this presence not messing around,
- 9:40Speaker 1: and they realize they're going to have to make a
- 9:43Speaker 1: better deal with America so that America is in the
- 9:45Speaker 1: last place anymore and taking it in the chin from
- 9:48Speaker 1: all of these other countries around the world. At the
- 9:51Speaker 1: end of the day, what Donald Trump said is true.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I'm not backing down. I'm gonna fix the problems we
- 9:57Speaker 1: have with our trade deficits, and I'm gonna make sure
- 10:00Speaker 1: that people are investing in the US and American workers
- 10:03Speaker 1: are winning, whether it's the coal miners or those in
- 10:05Speaker 1: the tech industry. It's clear the President is saying American
- 10:10Speaker 1: workers are going to come first in my administration and
- 10:13Speaker 1: this could last for at least three or four more years.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Let me tell you about Patriot Mobile real quick.
- 10:19Speaker 1: If you've got a cell phone and your cell phone
- 10:22Speaker 1: is not with Patriot Mobile, then the question I got
- 10:25Speaker 1: to ask you is why why have you not made
- 10:28Speaker 1: the switch? Well, you should make the switch, and the
- 10:31Speaker 1: deal is really easy. You get cutting edge technology. Switching
- 10:35Speaker 1: has never been easier. There's no store visits, no hassles.
- 10:39Speaker 1: You get to keep your same phone number you have
- 10:41Speaker 1: right now. You get to keep your same phone you've
- 10:43Speaker 1: got now, or upgrade to a new one. And they
- 10:45Speaker 1: have a one hundred percent US based team that can
- 10:48Speaker 1: activate you literally in minutes. The other thing that I
- 10:51Speaker 1: love about Patriot Mobile is this they have access to
- 10:54Speaker 1: all three major networks, meaning you get exceptional nationwide coverage.
- 11:00Speaker 2: I use Patriot Mobile and half for years.
- 11:02Speaker 1: They can even put a second number on a different
- 11:05Speaker 1: network on your phone.
- 11:07Speaker 2: It's like carrying two phones in one. You can have
- 11:10Speaker 2: a work number and a personal number. It's amazing.
- 11:13Speaker 1: They have unlimited data plans, mobile hotspots, international roaming, Internet
- 11:19Speaker 1: on the go devices, and home internet backup as well.
- 11:22Speaker 1: You can get all of this from Patriot Mobile. So
- 11:26Speaker 1: why are you waiting? Make the switch today? And by
- 11:29Speaker 1: the way, when you pay your bill, you know that
- 11:32Speaker 1: about five percent of that bill every month is going
- 11:34Speaker 1: back to support conservative causes.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Causes that stand for our First and or.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Second Amendment rights, the rights of unborn children, and they
- 11:42Speaker 1: stand with our veterans, our first responders, our police and firemen,
- 11:46Speaker 1: are EMTs and are wounded warriors.
- 11:49Speaker 2: So make a difference.
- 11:50Speaker 1: With every call you make, So right now, go to
- 11:52Speaker 1: Patriotmobile dot com slash ferguson or call them nine to
- 11:58Speaker 1: seven to two Patriot. You're going to get a free
- 12:01Speaker 1: month of service with a promo code ferguson. So switch
- 12:03Speaker 1: to Patriot Mobile and make a difference with every call
- 12:06Speaker 1: you make Patriot Mobile dot Com slash ferguson or nine
- 12:10Speaker 1: to seven to two Patriot. This it's been described by
- 12:13Speaker 1: the White House as fafo. It's the policy of Donald
- 12:16Speaker 1: Trump when it comes to tariffs and other nations. Well,
- 12:19Speaker 1: you want to know what happens when you screw around
- 12:21Speaker 1: with Donald Trump and the White House. President Trump has
- 12:24Speaker 1: announced the United States will in pose a one hundred
- 12:27Speaker 1: and four percent tariff on Chinese imports, effective at two
- 12:31Speaker 1: oh one a m.
- 12:32Speaker 2: On April the ninth. This decision follows.
- 12:35Speaker 1: China imposing a retaliatory tariff of thirty four percent on
- 12:40Speaker 1: US goods, which the Trump administration deemed a quote big mistake.
- 12:44Speaker 1: The escalating trade tensions have led to significant market volatility,
- 12:48Speaker 1: which all the media has been covering. On Tuesday, the
- 12:51Speaker 1: SMP initially surged by four point one percent, but reverse
- 12:55Speaker 1: course to close down one point six percent, placing it
- 12:58Speaker 1: nearly nineteen percent below it's February peak. The Dow Industrial
- 13:02Speaker 1: Average fell three hundred and twenty points after earlier getting
- 13:05Speaker 1: one thousand, four hundred and sixty points. Why did that
- 13:09Speaker 1: happen because of a fake news story. I'll tell you
- 13:11Speaker 1: about that coming up in a moment. Major companies that
- 13:14Speaker 1: are well going after China and cheap labor, they're having problems.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Now Apple, that's another stock that they are expected to
- 13:22Speaker 1: be significantly affected by what's happening here. In fact, Apple
- 13:25Speaker 1: stock has declined more than thirty percent this year, dropping
- 13:28Speaker 1: five percent on the latest tariff news. Then you've got
- 13:31Speaker 1: another issue. China has vowed to quote fight till the
- 13:36Speaker 1: end of the new tariff that is put on their country,
- 13:40Speaker 1: criticizing the US measures as quote blackmail. The Chinese communist
- 13:44Speaker 1: government has indicated it will take necessary countermeasures to protect
- 13:49Speaker 1: its interest quote unquote. Now, the situation clearly remains fluid,
- 13:54Speaker 1: and the President has made it clear he'd love to
- 13:56Speaker 1: sit down with China and get a deal done, but
- 13:59Speaker 1: until they come to the.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Table, this is where we're starting.
- 14:03Speaker 1: The White House Press Secretary making it very clear the
- 14:06Speaker 1: President is not afraid of China, and he's willing to
- 14:09Speaker 1: do the hard work to get this done.
- 14:11Speaker 2: You mentioned this seventy countries or so. I'm curious, though,
- 14:14Speaker 2: under what conditions at this point?
- 14:15Speaker 4: When President Trump talked to President She, how about tariffs.
- 14:19Speaker 5: Look, I just spoke to the President about this, and
- 14:21Speaker 5: he believes that China wants to make a deal with
- 14:23Speaker 5: the United States. He believes China has to make a
- 14:25Speaker 5: deal with the United States. It was a mistake for
- 14:28Speaker 5: China to retaliate. The President. When America is punched, he
- 14:32Speaker 5: punches back harder. That's why there will be one hundred
- 14:34Speaker 5: and four percent tariff's going into effect on China tonight
- 14:38Speaker 5: at midnight. But the President believes that she and China
- 14:41Speaker 5: want to make a deal. They just don't know how
- 14:43Speaker 5: to get that started. And the President also wanted me
- 14:45Speaker 5: to tell all of you that if China reaches out
- 14:47Speaker 5: to make a deal, he'll be incredibly gracious, but he's
- 14:50Speaker 5: going to do what's best for the American people.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Sure, now you notice the number has jumped from forty
- 14:54Speaker 1: countries that want to work with the US to seventy
- 14:58Speaker 1: countries that want to work with the United st States
- 15:00Speaker 1: of America to get their trade deal done.
- 15:03Speaker 2: What does that mean for you?
- 15:05Speaker 1: It means there's going to be seventy different countries that
- 15:08Speaker 1: are no longer going to be taking advantage of the
- 15:10Speaker 1: United States of America. If you want to put it
- 15:12Speaker 1: in simple terms, that is exactly what this means.
- 15:16Speaker 2: The White House.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Has said they're ready to make deals, and we are
- 15:20Speaker 1: expecting that there are many countries that are coming to say, hey,
- 15:25Speaker 1: you tell us.
- 15:25Speaker 2: What you want and we will make it happen.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Now, as all of this is happening, the President is
- 15:31Speaker 1: working on a lot of different things. The President also
- 15:34Speaker 1: saying virtually every country wants to negotiate a reciprocal tariff
- 15:38Speaker 1: now to get this taken care of, saying this is
- 15:42Speaker 1: how you do a worldwide change, and this is how
- 15:46Speaker 1: the American President is saying it's going to get done.
- 15:50Speaker 1: In fact, the president's saying this at the White House
- 15:53Speaker 1: with Benjamin Ettia who by his side.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I will say this, virtually every country wants to negotiate.
- 16:02Speaker 3: If I didn't do what I did over the last
- 16:04Speaker 3: couple of weeks, you wouldn't have anybody want to negotiate.
- 16:08Speaker 3: We would have gone to these countries you want to talk,
- 16:10Speaker 3: and they were well, we don't want to talk. Now
- 16:12Speaker 3: they're coming to us. They're offering things like even BB
- 16:16Speaker 3: and this is unrelated because it's a different kind of
- 16:18Speaker 3: a relationship. But he started off our conversation today that
- 16:22Speaker 3: he's cutting all of the tariffs, he's cutting everything.
- 16:25Speaker 4: He's going to get down to a free base.
- 16:26Speaker 2: He's going to do things that, in all fairness.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Other countries, if they said that, would have never even
- 16:32Speaker 3: thought about doing it.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Now they're offering things to us.
- 16:37Speaker 3: That we would have never even thought of asking them
- 16:39Speaker 3: for because they're experiencing a lot of hurt. And the
- 16:45Speaker 3: hurt is that they've taken advantage of us and we
- 16:47Speaker 3: finally fought back. Tariffs will make this country very rich.
- 16:51Speaker 3: We're rich anyway, but we're rich in a certain way.
- 16:55Speaker 3: We have thirty six trillion dollars in debt. I want
- 16:59Speaker 3: to get rid of it, and we can do it
- 17:00Speaker 3: quickly with proper deals.
- 17:04Speaker 4: So when countries.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Don't allow us to sell our product, but we allow
- 17:08Speaker 3: them to sell their product, when they charge us massive
- 17:12Speaker 3: amounts of money for the privilege of going into that country,
- 17:15Speaker 3: those days are over.
- 17:17Speaker 1: So if you want to know what the White House's
- 17:19Speaker 1: messaging is, It's actually very simple. The message is this,
- 17:24Speaker 1: for those who are ready to take a seat at
- 17:26Speaker 1: the negotiating table and recognize that they're no longer going
- 17:29Speaker 1: to be able to mistreat America, then come join us.
- 17:32Speaker 1: For those who want to retaliate after years are ripping
- 17:35Speaker 1: this country off like China, we will not bend and
- 17:38Speaker 1: we will not break, and we are going to stand firm.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Countries across the globe have been ripping America off.
- 17:44Speaker 2: That's the presence point. And what has it done.
- 17:47Speaker 1: It's resulted in a national security crisis. The White House
- 17:51Speaker 1: talking about that. Media not when to talk about that.
- 17:53Speaker 1: And President Trump says, look, i am I'm also going
- 17:56Speaker 1: to solve this national security issue by also making Americans wealthy.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Again, you heard him mention there.
- 18:04Speaker 1: He's like, look, we're very rich country, but in different ways,
- 18:07Speaker 1: we are also incredibly vulnerable. So here's how the President
- 18:12Speaker 1: says this will work to your advantage. Number One, jobs, jobs,
- 18:15Speaker 1: and more jobs. The President says, I'm supercharging the on
- 18:19Speaker 1: shoring of an American manufacturing and that is something that's
- 18:23Speaker 1: really important. Number Two, the March jobs reports show that
- 18:28Speaker 1: the President's economic agenda is already having its intended effect.
- 18:32Speaker 1: The economy added two hundred and twenty eight thousand jobs
- 18:35Speaker 1: in March. The economists predicted one hundred and forty thousand
- 18:38Speaker 1: jobs would be added, So.
- 18:39Speaker 2: This is a huge explosion of job growth.
- 18:44Speaker 1: He also says the aggressive onshooring appears to be a
- 18:48Speaker 1: foot on the sectors where you would first expect to
- 18:50Speaker 1: see a major response, all right, and so that's something
- 18:55Speaker 1: that we should all be really excited about. The President
- 18:58Speaker 1: also said that they allowed unfair and hustle trade at
- 19:01Speaker 1: the sacrifice of the American worker, referring to the government.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Refer to the Biden administration.
- 19:06Speaker 1: From ninety seven to twenty twenty four, the US lost
- 19:08Speaker 1: around five million manufacturing jobs, and some Republicans are also
- 19:12Speaker 1: to blame for this. I want to be clear, five
- 19:15Speaker 1: million manufacturing jobs, and we experienced one of the largest
- 19:18Speaker 1: drops in manufacturing employment in history.
- 19:21Speaker 2: So go back again.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Ninety seven of twenty twenty four, five million Americans lost
- 19:26Speaker 1: their jobs because of this. This goes back to what
- 19:29Speaker 1: the President said about Liberation Day. He said, it's the
- 19:32Speaker 1: first step to restoring the American workforce and rebuilding the
- 19:36Speaker 1: American economy. President Trump also said, look stand with me.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I got your back. I have your back. I've had
- 19:43Speaker 1: your back for a long time. He said, if it
- 19:45Speaker 1: were up to the financial elites, there would be no
- 19:49Speaker 1: American manufacturing and our nation will continue to slide towards
- 19:53Speaker 1: a bankruptcy and ruin. He's right, if you look at
- 19:55Speaker 1: our national debt, look at what Doe is doing right now,
- 19:58Speaker 1: is a perfect example of this. And the President said, look,
- 20:01Speaker 1: I'm fighting not just for jobs. I'm fighting for good jobs.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I'm fighting for great paying jobs for American workers. I'm
- 20:10Speaker 1: also fighting for affordable prices so that when you go
- 20:13Speaker 1: out and spend your money, you have more money to
- 20:15Speaker 1: buy more things, or to save, or to have a
- 20:18Speaker 1: better life for your family. He also said fair trade
- 20:21Speaker 1: policy is a critical step to making all this possible.
- 20:25Speaker 2: So it isn't just tariffs.
- 20:27Speaker 1: It's fighting for good jobs, it's fighting for affordable pricing,
- 20:31Speaker 1: and it is a.
- 20:31Speaker 2: National security issue.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Now, let's also be clear about the American people being
- 20:36Speaker 1: behind President Trump. The President campaigned on this agenda. He said,
- 20:41Speaker 1: I'm going to help working class Americans check not on
- 20:44Speaker 1: short term stock market fluctuation. So I don't want this
- 20:48Speaker 1: to be a fake influx of security for Americans. He said,
- 20:52Speaker 1: what's destroyed American cities and towns across the country is
- 20:55Speaker 1: the haling out of American manufacturing, saying, these tariffs are
- 21:00Speaker 1: part of a long term vision.
- 21:03Speaker 2: To restore American wealth.
- 21:04Speaker 1: So when you bring in good jobs into these cities,
- 21:07Speaker 1: it brings instability. You start having less crime, you have
- 21:11Speaker 1: people that are more involved in their cities, You get
- 21:13Speaker 1: better schools, you get more people that are running for office.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Like all the tide rises all ships. Right, So if
- 21:20Speaker 1: you do this, this is what he's expecting, and this
- 21:23Speaker 1: was part of his promise. The other thing is he
- 21:26Speaker 1: says tariffs work. That's the end of the end of
- 21:29Speaker 1: the day. The takeaway. There was a two thousand and
- 21:32Speaker 1: four study on the effects of President Trump's tariffs in
- 21:34Speaker 1: his first administration, and then they found that they quote
- 21:37Speaker 1: strengthened the US economy. It led to significant restoring in
- 21:42Speaker 1: industries like manufacturing and still production. This is something the
- 21:46Speaker 1: President has already done before and now he's doing it again.
- 21:50Speaker 2: And that's why it's working.
- 21:52Speaker 1: As we continue talking about tariffs in this country, joining
- 21:55Speaker 1: me now Center from Tennessee, Marshall Blackburn Center. I got
- 21:59Speaker 1: to say it's very interesting now to see how the
- 22:03Speaker 1: negotiations have already begun.
- 22:05Speaker 2: The media is not willing to cover this.
- 22:07Speaker 1: There's more than fifty countries that have lined up, and
- 22:09Speaker 1: we're starting to see leaks from other countries. They're saying, hey,
- 22:12Speaker 1: we're willing to put our tariffs at zero on American
- 22:14Speaker 1: goods coming into our countries Taiwan, for example, Vietnam.
- 22:18Speaker 2: They seem to be wanting to get a deal done. Now,
- 22:21Speaker 2: is this the.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Domino effect that you're expecting where we're seeing one country
- 22:26Speaker 1: and then the next one in the next one, and
- 22:27Speaker 1: then this is a success path for the White House
- 22:30Speaker 1: and also for every American, especially American workers.
- 22:33Speaker 6: Yes. Indeed, President Trump had said he was going to
- 22:37Speaker 6: deal with these trade and balances and deal with China
- 22:42Speaker 6: and getting people to the table to negotiate is what
- 22:47Speaker 6: he wanted to do. And as you can see, the
- 22:49Speaker 6: market is back up. You see people coming to the table.
- 22:55Speaker 6: Right now, I'm in the middle of a hearing with
- 22:58Speaker 6: Jamison Greer Trade rep and we know that seventy countries
- 23:03Speaker 6: have already asked to negotiate their teriffs and also their
- 23:10Speaker 6: non terraff barriers, which many times this is what blocks
- 23:15Speaker 6: us from having access to the market in certain countries.
- 23:20Speaker 6: Everyone wants to access to the US market and to
- 23:25Speaker 6: get people to the table to lower these tariffs is
- 23:28Speaker 6: going to help lower inflation. And then look at the
- 23:32Speaker 6: things we've already gotten done. The budget document is passed,
- 23:36Speaker 6: we are working on reconciliation. The price of a gallon
- 23:40Speaker 6: of gas is down under three dollars. I know in
- 23:43Speaker 6: Tennessee it's about to seventy a gallon. You've got the
- 23:47Speaker 6: price of a dozen eggs that have gone down. You
- 23:50Speaker 6: have people that are returning to work, Labor force participation
- 23:56Speaker 6: is up, and a part of this is dealing with
- 24:00Speaker 6: tariffs and trade. We are doing that and we are
- 24:04Speaker 6: getting ready to make the twenty seventeen tax cuts permanent.
- 24:09Speaker 6: I think that's pretty good work for the first hundred
- 24:12Speaker 6: days of a president.
- 24:15Speaker 1: You heard the secretary but said go on CNBC and
- 24:19Speaker 1: he said something very interesting. I want to play this
- 24:21Speaker 1: for you and get your reaction. He said, these negotiations
- 24:25Speaker 1: are not a result of mass.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Of the markets.
- 24:27Speaker 1: It's because these countries realize the presence not going to
- 24:31Speaker 1: hit pause.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Here's what he said.
- 24:32Speaker 7: Market is trading higher today, and we did see what
- 24:38Speaker 7: was welcomed yesterday and that has a bounce from some
- 24:40Speaker 7: of the lows and even a higher close on the NASDAC.
- 24:44Speaker 7: One of our guests, the Secretary earlier mentioned the resumption
- 24:48Speaker 7: of the trade put and not coincidentally, it coincided with
- 24:56Speaker 7: your trip to Florida over the weekend, where reportedly you
- 24:58Speaker 7: were stressing the market needed to hear that negotiations about
- 25:04Speaker 7: these tariffs were in play. Lo and behold, we did
- 25:07Speaker 7: see a bounce. Is that a fair assessment? Do you
- 25:10Speaker 7: think that's what happened?
- 25:12Speaker 4: Well, it's not.
- 25:12Speaker 8: A fair assessment of what happened over the weekend. I
- 25:16Speaker 8: went down to see President Trump, as I do many weekends,
- 25:21Speaker 8: and you know, I can tell you it's all President
- 25:23Speaker 8: Trump's decision, and he had a view on after Liberation
- 25:29Speaker 8: Day that we should go into quiet mode and let
- 25:33Speaker 8: our partners think about the kind of the shock and
- 25:36Speaker 8: awe that he presented.
- 25:37Speaker 2: And over those.
- 25:41Speaker 8: Following few days from April second, we had the I
- 25:45Speaker 8: think we're up to seventy countries contact the White House
- 25:49Speaker 8: for how to come and negotiate. So, you know, I
- 25:52Speaker 8: would say that the negotiations are the result of the
- 25:56Speaker 8: massive inflow of inbound calls to come and negotiate had
- 26:00Speaker 8: nothing to do with the market.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I love how he's just calling out CNBC. You guys
- 26:04Speaker 1: are trying to make this about the markets. No, this
- 26:06Speaker 1: is about leadership.
- 26:09Speaker 6: Well, you're right about that, and Ben, there is a concept,
- 26:13Speaker 6: as I always say, you lead people and you manage assets.
- 26:18Speaker 6: Donald Trump knows how to lead an organization, how to
- 26:23Speaker 6: lead people, how to test that vision and getting the
- 26:28Speaker 6: cost of goods and services down is a big portion
- 26:32Speaker 6: of that. And the way you do that is get
- 26:35Speaker 6: people to the table, get them talking with you, and
- 26:39Speaker 6: then move forward with what you're going to do with
- 26:44Speaker 6: the tariffs. Ultimately, there's a great article in the Wall
- 26:48Speaker 6: Street Journal today by Art Laffer and Steven Moore, and
- 26:52Speaker 6: it's talking about Trump's goal of zero tariffs and removing
- 26:58Speaker 6: these obstruction on tariff barriers and knowing that that is
- 27:04Speaker 6: where he wants to go. That whatever tariff we had,
- 27:07Speaker 6: it's going to be reciprocal. But the actions we take
- 27:11Speaker 6: should be enriching and enhancing the jobs of the American people,
- 27:18Speaker 6: increasing our export, increasing our domestic production, and that is
- 27:24Speaker 6: indeed his focus.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Let's move also to something else that is a really
- 27:28Speaker 1: important issue that's been really put on the back burner
- 27:31Speaker 1: I think in the media, and that is the issue
- 27:33Speaker 1: of activist judges who are doing these nationwide injunctions.
- 27:38Speaker 2: I know you guys in the Senator working on reigning these.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Judges in because they actually represent an area of the
- 27:45Speaker 1: country and they're doing these injunctions in an activist way,
- 27:49Speaker 1: which is trying to it's lawfare. It's another way of
- 27:51Speaker 1: lawfair on President Trump's agenda. He was duly elected. He
- 27:55Speaker 1: shouldn't have to deal with this. Unfortunately he's having to.
- 27:59Speaker 1: And thank goodness, we had a very big victory for
- 28:01Speaker 1: the president, especially when it comes to getting rid of
- 28:05Speaker 1: gang members who are in this country and deporting them
- 28:08Speaker 1: as well.
- 28:09Speaker 6: Yes, indeed, and what you are going to see is
- 28:15Speaker 6: more activity on the congressional side, the House and the
- 28:20Speaker 6: Senate to call this out. There is no constitutional and
- 28:27Speaker 6: there is no statutorial authority for a federal district judge
- 28:33Speaker 6: to enact a nationwide injunction. It does not exist. And
- 28:40Speaker 6: a federal district judge is constrained to the case before
- 28:46Speaker 6: him and also to the district in which he is seeded.
- 28:50Speaker 6: That is his purview, and these judges are completely out
- 28:56Speaker 6: of their jurisdiction.
- 28:58Speaker 3: So yes.
- 28:59Speaker 6: We have a bill in the Senate that would address this,
- 29:02Speaker 6: would clarify the constitutional intent for a federal district judge.
- 29:08Speaker 6: We also did a hearing on this last week. This week,
- 29:11Speaker 6: the House is taking up a measure that would address it.
- 29:15Speaker 6: And I have no doubt that the Supreme Court is
- 29:19Speaker 6: going to have to appin on this.
- 29:22Speaker 1: You look at this and at these fifty injunctions have
- 29:25Speaker 1: been filed against President Trump. It's the agenda in its
- 29:28Speaker 1: attack on the American people. Is this a real constitutional crisis?
- 29:32Speaker 2: In your opinion?
- 29:35Speaker 6: This is not a constitutional crisis. This is something that
- 29:39Speaker 6: we are going to be able to address. We have
- 29:42Speaker 6: to realize that there were fifteen injunctions placed against President
- 29:47Speaker 6: Trump in the month of February alone, and Joe Biden's
- 29:52Speaker 6: entire four years there were fourteen that were placed against him.
- 29:57Speaker 6: So we have I think we're going to be able
- 30:02Speaker 6: to work our way through this to deal with this.
- 30:05Speaker 6: The Court will opine on this, but what we do
- 30:08Speaker 6: know is they are completely out of control on this.
- 30:13Speaker 6: The Prump administration got a favorable reading last night opinion
- 30:22Speaker 6: last night dealing with deportation, and we have no doubt
- 30:26Speaker 6: there will be more of.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Those to come you, obviously being the center for Tennessee.
- 30:31Speaker 1: I want to ask you about another big issue and
- 30:33Speaker 1: this is one happening apparently at Vanderbilt University the medical
- 30:38Speaker 1: center there. Last month, it was reported that Vanderbilt Medical
- 30:41Speaker 1: Center was quote hiding Diversity, Equity and Inclusion DEI resources
- 30:46Speaker 1: behind a password protected web pages. And the question is
- 30:51Speaker 1: how do they get away with this, especially when it's
- 30:53Speaker 1: going against what the rules are now and cantendency do
- 30:57Speaker 1: anything or can you do anything to help advocate to
- 31:00Speaker 1: stop we're the best hospitals in the country from being
- 31:03Speaker 1: so woken going against what the rules now state is appropriate.
- 31:08Speaker 6: And this is something we've requested information on. We are aware.
- 31:13Speaker 6: We heard from the news reports like everyone else did.
- 31:17Speaker 6: We are aware. I do know that the Tennessee General
- 31:20Speaker 6: Assembly has requested information. We have also requested information on
- 31:26Speaker 6: this issue.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Let me ask you another question, and it deals with
- 31:30Speaker 1: some of the storm damage. You were at the TEAMA
- 31:33Speaker 1: this weekend. Tell us what's going on with storm assistance
- 31:36Speaker 1: and what's happening also on the ground from that.
- 31:39Speaker 6: Yes, Indeed, when we after we finished voting at three
- 31:43Speaker 6: o'clock Saturday morning, I was on a plane and by
- 31:48Speaker 6: eight point thirty, I was at SATIMA headquarters in Nashville.
- 31:52Speaker 6: I was able to meet with FEMA because of the
- 31:55Speaker 6: floods that took place in Upper East Tennessee. The FEMA
- 31:59Speaker 6: rep already there at the Teama headquarters and we know
- 32:05Speaker 6: that FEMA is getting resources into these communities. Yesterday they
- 32:11Speaker 6: were able to start some of the damage assessments on
- 32:14Speaker 6: this The flooding is what we are dealing with now,
- 32:19Speaker 6: and we have teams that are out even today doing
- 32:25Speaker 6: these damage assessments. We did get the emergency declaration on
- 32:31Speaker 6: Wednesday night from President Trump as the storm was hitting
- 32:35Speaker 6: the state, and then we will get these disaster relief
- 32:39Speaker 6: declarations done this week. McNairy County was particularly a hard hit.
- 32:46Speaker 6: There are five deaths that are there. There are ten
- 32:50Speaker 6: in the state, and we grieve with these families in
- 32:54Speaker 6: these communities the loss of life, the loss of property,
- 32:59Speaker 6: and the damage that has occurred from this storm.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Do me a favor, make sure you share this podcast
- 33:06Speaker 1: with your family, your friends, put it up on social
- 33:09Speaker 1: media wherever you are on social media, and I will
- 33:11Speaker 1: see you back here tomorrow.
