- 0:12[SPEAKER_02]: And welcome to very amusing, your one-stop shop for the story secrets and shenanigans of a popcorn-fueled theme park in journalist.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Herly Guysel, and as you know, I went to the Walt Disney studio a lot, I heard all about D23 news, and the tickets go on sale tomorrow for the majority of
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: 23 gold members who already know this it happens tomorrow, but I just wanted to flag it up top because I am recording this right after I went It was an absolute gas.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_02]: I posted a bunch of videos about it if you don't follow me on Instagram and Tik Tok you should check it out there It's just so nice to be like, oh, it's happening like we are leading up to that big in person event
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: because the way I always feel about Disney fandom, it's kinda like we all go to school online.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_02]: You don't even mean, like we all take our little high school or college courses online, and then sometimes we run into each other at the park, and sometimes we're all together every two years for D23, and it's just nice to know that we will be in our safe space.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_02]: Among Disney fans finding out Disney news, so very soon.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: It is April!
- 1:14[SPEAKER_02]: It is literally April Fool's Day, no fool's about it, and in August, we are going to be bombarded with news about TV shows, movies, and most importantly, to me, about theme parks and about cruises, so I absolutely cannot wait.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_02]: and speaking of things I'm looking forward to, we finally got Scott Guston on the podcast, which you'll hear about he might have been on before we don't, we don't know, and I'm two times to go back and check, because we at this point have six years of archives, and I just don't want to go through them.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_02]: I realized I have been posting this podcast longer than I haven't been.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_02]: In my career covering theme parks and reporting on Disney, I have had very amusing longer than I have not.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_02]: Isn't that wild?
- 1:55[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like we just started yesterday, but I guess we think about it.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: It's been a lot of episodes.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_02]: It's been a lot of work.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: We already have one of these a polluse under our belt with more to come, TBD.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_02]: But, I mean, not TBD, TBA, TB announced.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_02]: We are currently determining and we will soon... not soon!
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not kidding.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: We will eventually announce not eventually not soon somewhere right in the middle listen this is why I don't even gonna talk about this.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: All you need to know is one make sure you are on top of D23 ticketing which is tomorrow and two buckle up for a very very fun episode.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_02]: Happy April Fool's Day everyone stick around We have so much ahead with Scott Gust
- 2:37[UNKNOWN]: Thank you for watching.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back before we jump into this week's episode.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: I just want to let you know we are taking next week off for spring break ends up.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: I am learning firsthand What it's like when they just closed the schools?
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: They just closed the schools and you're left to figure it all out I know some parents out there are laughing because let me tell you.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: This is my first experience with it since I've been astounded and I didn't realize that you just gotta you just get it
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: pick up those shifts somehow.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_02]: So my work week has imploded and we will be taking next week off.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: We'll be back right after that and hopefully this episode will sustain you until then.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: Our pal Scott Gusted is here today to discuss the goofyest theme park happenings of all time on this very special April Fool's episode.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_02]: If you're unfamiliar with Scott Gusted, well you probably don't have Twitter.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: That's the best way to put it.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: But Scott is kind of like
- 3:39[SPEAKER_02]: He's kind of like the people's theme park journalist, confirming so many Disney facts, and giving us the dates while also being truly hilarious online, and very much involves in all things Disney's Twitter.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: I've had the joy of working alongside Scott for a number of years now, and he's so much more than a guy on the internet who cares a lot about Disney.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: Or, as he described himself, a theme park journalist and a guy who always carries snacks.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_02]: Because to me, he knows that's what he is.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_02]: We were Disney Land recently, and it was at the end of a media day, and I was so hungry, and he pulls out a granola bar out of his backpack and saves my life.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not the only time he's done that.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: I still remember, at D23 years ago.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: who were waiting to go into a panel and he was like, oh, by the way, this is for you.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: And he pulls out a bag of buckies, beaver nuggets.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: I had never been to buckies.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't know what these were, but he knew that my absolute obsession with caramel corn would make me fall in love with these.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: And he was right, I brought them home, and then it was obsessed with them, and then I finally went to buckies.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_02]: And then I texted him and was like, I hate that I did it.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_02]: It was a very full circle moment, and I was very happy about it.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_02]: And those, I mean, those beaver nuggets, like, look, he changed my life a little.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_02]: really good.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, we kind of got right before he jetted off to Paris.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we, we, to basically just kind of laugh and commiserate about what this wild weird job we both have is.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: But today, we are talking about the big boys, the absolute prank level goofs we've seen happen almost entirely in real time while covering these parks.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_02]: So truly, who else would I call it for today's episode?
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: Who else would be a better choice to talk about the funniest moment of both of our lives that we experienced together?
- 5:14[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: We will explain each of the things we're discussing because some of them were news discussed again, shocking.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_02]: But if you're looking for visuals or just a little more context, everything will be outlined in the show notes, so definitely head there for more info.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_02]: And before we begin, we simply cannot discuss gaffes and goofs without shouting out internet archivist a title I've decided he needs, Derek Bergen over at touring plans, whose annual theme park Turkey's feature is not only the highlight of the year, but what I use to fact-check timeline details for a lot of these hilarious moments.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_02]: Those theme park turkeys will also be linked to them in the show notes.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_02]: And if you had never read the theme park turkeys before, it deserves your dearest attention.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: Like you need to check it out, Derek is a master, and it is a wonderful feature.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's it.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: Without any further ado, let's talk to Scott about these goofy, goofy moments in theme park culture history.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: Hello.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think I have a mate glad to be here.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I texted you a few weeks ago because I had a full brain fart and was like, wait, this podcast is existed for six years and I've never thought to be like, do you want to come on it?
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm glad to be here.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: I may have also thought that I'd been on a two at some point, but maybe you was just because we talked.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't, I haven't, but I'd had the same thought.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, in a way, the past six years have also felt like 40.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's, we've experienced a lot, as we're going to get into today.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: There's just been a lot of happening.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_02]: But before we get into it, I would just love to know because I actually have no idea.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: How did you end up in this line of work?
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: Were you always a Disney person your whole life or did you just kind of fall into it?
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: I was always Disney, but I went to college, tried to be a reporter, and within, literally within about an hour and a half of shadowing a television reporter after having gone to school thinking that's what I wanted to do.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: I did it for an hour and a half, and I was like, this is not what I want to do.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: my entire college path has just been blown up right in front of me.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I had a news path that I wanted to follow.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: I was always interested in digital and news, so I followed that side of the news business and then kind of crossed over into combining my interest with my job.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: around COVID when there was news every day.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, everything.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: So, and I was doing it before, but I kind of found an audience during a time when the news was not as
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: fun.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: And we weren't constantly just wanting to talk about rumors and all the fun side of the park.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: It was suddenly like, are we ever going to get to go to the park?
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: So, somebody local government meetings that we were all tapped into and did like, it will never again.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: CF Todd, like, I, I just don't, I just hope we never have that whole thing being newsworthy ever again.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so glad that's okay.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_02]: Agreed.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_02]: I never need to know about wastewater ever again.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'll take it with the permits for talking villains land.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm okay then, but outside of that fun speculation never again.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_02]: Wow, well, we are all thrilled that you are here because I've actually I've never heard anyone say a single negative word about you.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: It is just like purely all love for Scott Guston all over the place.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'll see you exist is full name.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_02]: You're you're never Scott.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: You are Scott Guston.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_02]: And there's nobody else I could be doing an April Fool's episode with besides you because we are going to talk about the goofiest theme park happenings of all time.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I think we should just get started with my personal favorite kite tails.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: didn't get to experience Kiteel.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I lived it through.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_00]: I lived it through you and others who saw it, but I did not get there in time to see it.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: So I am pained.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'll give the intro for I guess you and everyone listening in case they didn't know, but a fever dream of a daytime presentation.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_02]: High tales was perhaps the best live entertainment to ever exist.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: It Disney's Animal Kingdom and I will stand by that.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: Birch shows great, but birds don't got anything on a kite.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_02]: This waterfront show was only a Disney world for a year, October 2021 to September 2022, but it was more than just a figment of our stir-crazy COVID imaginations.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_02]: Don't call him jet skis.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_02]: These ski do personal watercrafts, allowed for the most majestic kites, fashioned in the likeness of characters like Simba, Timone, Pomba, and Blue, that's really hard to sing in a row, to float in the sky and then unceremoniously crash to the ground.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_02]: The Discovery River Lagoon has not seen a show since, sad, leaving the waterfront expansive animal kingdom as an off forgotten gravesite for our beloved show.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_02]: Now, while you didn't see it yourself, you, I'm sure saw coverage of this and what did you think of those guys?
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: I loved the chaos of it.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: I loved it that, I think my favorite part about it is that I know that there was a meeting somewhere or someone pitched this idea and they're like, yeah, yeah, we're going to do that.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like, we're going to have tights or tights, tights,
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: multiple times during the show and that will be like the applause moment when they that's the end of that that kites moment and everyone claps when it crashes.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: into the water or into the, whether it's on purpose or not, into the stands.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's, I love, I love a chaotic, like silly theme park thing, not everything has to be serious.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I know there were very, some very, very hot takes on it.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_00]: I just love the silliness of it.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: But from a distance, it was enjoyable.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_02]: I just appreciate that Disney's character integrity team cares so much about every detail of every character and then they were like, but what if they just collapse into a heap in front of our eyes all day just all day and that was the highlight of the show was just watching them just melt into a pile and somehow it got approved.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we're talking about it today because this was a real offering, even though it felt like it was a joke.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: But the Rodgers and Musical in Disneyland was also kind of just like, I'm just so happy that these things can get approved every once in a while.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like these just crazy silly silly moments, like bottled up in time, I love it.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I am running for mayor on the platform of reopen the Hyperion like that is really what I'm out for.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_02]: So Rogers was great while we had it there, but that also felt like chaotic good.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_02]: This just felt like chaos.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_02]: It was just nuts.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_02]: And when I was reading back up on it, just to honestly confirm it actually happened.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_02]: I was refreshing my memory on Tom Brecker's website, which is like a living encyclopedia of all things.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_02]: And he reminded me that Disney World's 50th anniversary entertainment by the time they
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: They were zero for three.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: They closed Disney Enchantment, they closed Hermonius, and they closed Cytales.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: All of them are defunded.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, that is kind of wild to think about none of them managed to stick around.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, even though they weren't specifically said to be part of the anniversary, this wasn't like the 50th title show.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: So it probably was intended to stick around a little bit longer, and just the anniversary.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: But some of those limited run like anniversary things, I'm okay with them just being there and then going away.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: We don't need a, think the night, you know, type fans demanding that it come back.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean,
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: I know, Kiteels, maybe they'll love to fly once again.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm really proud to see it.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'll get to see it.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_02]: It was just so nice to have because there's really entertainment that is, and I mean, this is a compliment, stupid fun.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_02]: It was stupid fun.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_02]: It was just fun.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: It was pure fun.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: You never laugh at a live show like that.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: And we just got to giggle and watch these characters crash and it's fantastic.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_02]: I hope they bring it back just purely so that you get to see it with your own eyes.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_02]: the next goofy theme park we are talking about is NPA experience got oh man NVA experience now this was an homage to basketball at the cross section of theme parks which kind of seems like it would make sense you know if you like Disney and sports which so many do
- 13:49[SPEAKER_02]: You could go here, but in the end, it just really did not come together.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: Scott and I experienced this 44,000 square foot homage to all things basketball together, which we will get into.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_02]: We were at the opening preview of it.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: But it was a short-lint experience at Disney Springs that did not reopen after the pandemic, which I think stinks, because I think this could have had a successful future.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_02]: I'm really kind of like an NBA experience truth there.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_02]: It seems like it should have worked, but sometimes when you and your business friends collaborate, it works great, see the NBA bubble at Disney World, wasn't that fun?
- 14:20[SPEAKER_02]: Wasn't a cool one that guy ran his coffee shop out of a room with a grand Floridian, and then they brought in all those big mattresses because the men wouldn't fit in the beds.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_02]: But other times, you know, there's the other side of the coin, which is NBA experience.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_02]: It operated for seven months, it cost $34 for adults, $29 for kids, and I had a blast there.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_02]: How about you?
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: Probably the opposite, take it here.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: It was kind of struggling with attendance even before COVID.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was a hard thing for them to define what it was.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_00]: I will say like being in there was fine and fun.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was just a hard sell to get people in the door.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_00]: paying any kind of admission there that was not included with their ticket, but it, it was just a terrible idea.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: It was just terrible.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's a counter-truth or okay, okay.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: The execution was better than the idea, I would say.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: Like the, uh,
- 15:23[SPEAKER_00]: The same meeting that we talked about with here at ProofGuys.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: There was also a meeting where they could prove this.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like the Imagineers that actually did work on it.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like, did I doubt as much as you could do with such a siloed idea where everything has to be gamified and you're kind of limited with what you could do.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_00]: it was fine.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: But I am glad that it's gone.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I don't, I, I, the opening, like, I have never seen so many, like,
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: famous people, mostly basketball, obviously, but just so many freaking people at this event.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_00]: Like, everybody, every single person that ever did anything with Disney and NBA was at that thing.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: And if you were there, you were like, man, we are.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: This is like a dedication of like the...
- 16:21[SPEAKER_00]: Rededication of the Great Wall of China or something like this is a major moment in history is what you would think looking around and then it could even make it to go with I had a similar experience at the opening because they're really I feel like I remember there wasn't that much media like it wasn't that it was not media us it was not big everything else
- 16:45[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and like, listen, if there's something new in Florida, I'm coming like I'm getting on a plane and so I was there But I had a similar experience to you where I looked around and was like, wow, except that because I don't know a single one of these men I just looked around and went, oh my gosh, everyone is tall
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: like I felt like a little frog on the forest floor surrounded by giants and I did not know who any of them were and I think I remember asking you I remember I was texting photos of men to my husband to be like who is this man?
- 17:11[SPEAKER_02]: And he'd be like you're an idiot like what do you mean?
- 17:14[SPEAKER_02]: It's so when so uh the only person I recognize was is his name Adam Silver is that is that the Bob Iger of sport?
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, I'm silver and I, you're both there.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I remember that, but it, it truly was like, oh, who's who have people that are who's to me.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and they were also tall and we just, I was doing like pop a shot all day.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's kind of all I remember is like trying to throw a basketball, not knowing a single thing about sport, but I had a blast.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: It was a interesting little woman in time with that.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what was learned from it.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: Go probably make a similar mistake at some point in the future when we have a CEO or someone very hard in the company that just says, like, we should do this.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_00]: And they just like, all right, we're doing this.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like Igor.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_00]: did that then and has done it again with avatar where you just decided we need an avatar experience and then everyone else is like, okay, I guess we got a free group of sale at Disneyland but you know it was not a shocker when it didn't come back.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_00]: I certainly didn't mourn it as much as it sounds like you did.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_02]: But I just, I think I just love the big brand of it all.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, two brands together.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I don't know about you.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you have any of the merchandise from the, I think the store was good.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: I think the store was good.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_02]: They had Mickey stuff for every single team, which I think is great.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_02]: I noticed last night, I was going to bed.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_02]: My husband was filling up a cup that he uses for water that I never clocks.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_02]: It is next to his bed every night.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_02]: It is the cup that I got at the NBA experience opening.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_02]: This relic is truly like one of the only items in our bedroom.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: It is a part of my lives and it will never leave us because and be experienced.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think it could have been good.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: I can't even picture a single murtees of merch that I haven't remember.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: Really?
- 19:03[SPEAKER_00]: Really?
- 19:04[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I kind of remember what the logo looks like.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's about it.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_02]: It was like they had, I don't know how to pluralize turvists.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_02]: Turvists have turvists and then they were like Mickey Mouse.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think, yeah, they should just get the storm.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_02]: It should get the storm.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_00]: And the thing that's replacing it, I was actually just thinking about it at level 99 today.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: I don't work much on it a while.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_00]: But I think maybe...
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm hoping for your sake that once it opens, it will allow you to say, you know, be a piece with losing it because I think what's going to go there will be better if it ever opens.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: Next about the goofy list is, listen, I don't like to clown on the company when they don't deserve it.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: Clearly, I'd love any experience.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_02]: This was so insane that we can't help but make fun of Disney for it because two words got plant Donald.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know what this one is.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_02]: Plenty of talking about plant Donald when they replaced Donald with a plant put us in real on him.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: So this was the one where I was like on the list of top as like, I'm just gonna have to find out was this like a Epcot, Hopeiary gone bad or something.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and now I do remember the failing Donald animatronic.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: And it's someone was just like, guys.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he has a bush.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like, are we good with a bush?
- 20:44[SPEAKER_00]: Are we good with a plant?
- 20:45[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry Donald, man.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_02]: The story goes back even further, which I forgot.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_02]: So for those who also are like, what is this woman talking about?
- 20:55[SPEAKER_02]: Grand Fiesta Tour, the boat ride in Epcot's Mexico Pavilion, typically doesn't draw too much attention, but it is hosted by Donald Duck, Panchito and Jose Carioca, which I think I said correctly.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: And the three appears throughout this ride, but most notably to this tale is audio animatronics.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_02]: So, summer 2020, you know, good vibes all around, everybody's having a blast out of nowhere.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: And this is separate from Donald Duck.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_02]: This is leading up to it.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: Jose, one day, whoop, was no longer there.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: And in his place was a handful of flowers to all of the floor, just like a small pile of flowers, like a gravestite, where his animatronic one stood.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_02]: But shortly thereafter, he came back and all was well again until about five months later.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_02]: When Donald Duck had quacked out for a moment and in his place was not just a plant, but a plant wearing a sombrero as though you could possibly think that that was Donald Duck.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_02]: And it was removed, but this moment lives on in infamy.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_02]: It was like, this was maybe one of the best times to ever be on Disney Twitter when it was
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: really grow on me.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_00]: And that just now looking at the photo.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: So many angles of this moment.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like, with the hat on it.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, when you were looking at how long was it?
- 22:15[SPEAKER_02]: Almost there like a week or I think, um, oh god, let me see.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: I don't mean, I think a few days later, um, I look at my notes and I wrote it was removed about two years later.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm pretty sure that's days.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it was there for two years.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: Um, it was removed a few days later, but I just remember like it was the only thing happening.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_02]: Like everyone was dialed in being like, what do you mean?
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: There is a Sombrero on a plant and we're supposed to think it's a character.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: One, what a moment.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's wonderful.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: Do you remember where you were when you saw it?
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: Do you remember how you felt?
- 22:50[SPEAKER_00]: I don't.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like, oh no, I may have even missed the bulk of this.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: Because I feel like there were so many layers or waves of all of this, like they were the cutouts for a bit.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_00]: And then the cutouts, they forgot about the cutouts.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: See, I remember the cutouts.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think more than I remember the plant.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_02]: Just like.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_02]: Diselectrical just not work in the Mexico pavilion like what is happening where all these things just keep getting replaced by flowers and plants Yeah, the cut-ups make sense like you put a picture of the character there.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, who I mean who was the person who went the plant just doesn't suffice I just got a Just put a little It can't just be missing we need a plant and then we need we need a hat on it.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's what's so funny to me.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_02]: It could absolutely be missing
- 23:37[SPEAKER_02]: If you miss it, if you miss it, it'll be missing, and it'll be fine.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: And everyone would know, oh, it's not here.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's probably broken.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's just, I have.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_02]: Scott, I have this like conspiracy deep in my brain where you know when like a celebrity gets a drastic haircut to distract from plastic surgery, I am convinced that the Walt Disney company did this because they wanted us to ignore something else, but I can't figure out what the something else is.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_02]: Because if you put a plant with a sunbrero in a ride, all of us who loved a dig for news are going to be focused on sunbrero Donald, like we're not going to be thinking about anything else.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_02]: So I wonder what else happened that they buried that day.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like I like the conspiracy, I would even say another possible one is someone just wanted attention and funding for them to properly update and maintain the animatronics.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_00]: Someone was doing some next level 3D chess and saying, let's just put out the most ridiculous thing come up with.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_00]: They landed on plant.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, that's a genius.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: a good way.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if I worked in Epcot and there's a lot of things, I would love to pick a good viral.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_00]: I would, you know, if I'm the guy that really wants funding for them to finally fix the lighting in the, in the, in Epcot and the, the flooring, then I, I will, maybe I'll just put a plant on one of those broken, tripable lights, let's put a plan on it.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: And is that your big cause, the lighting in the floor?
- 25:07[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm the next sound of judging, but I'm
- 25:10[SPEAKER_00]: Is that your big thing that you're, I think I'm to the point where I just don't understand it, like I think it could come back tomorrow and it probably would not really change my life that much.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_00]: It was really pretty and it was really awesome to see it when I was working, but it's more just like, why can my neighbor figure that so like, why do why do every Christmas I see the craziest LED displays on homes and
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: upcut and not figure out how to do basic LED like it's not just the flooring like the LED lights the front of the park are not always working they go around the entrance all of that's like I don't know what the contractor that they use to the company but I'd like to know so that I know not to use that same company whatever the name of it is when I go buy my lights
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: for Christmas, and they work, and some of them they can't figure this out there.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's, it's, it's baffling, and it's just that it's more of my thing now because I just don't understand.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't understand.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: You're right.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't make sense that it doesn't work.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: It should work.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like we, we replaced the faces of Anna and Elsa, from the Frozen Rye.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: and we can't get an LED strip to illuminate.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what is happening?
- 26:44[SPEAKER_00]: What is it?
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I know there's this return investment blah, blah, blah, like all of that fine.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's LED strips in the ground.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_00]: And here we are.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_02]: There's gotta be something we could cut or something we can charge more for to get this covered.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_02]: There's gotta be.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I put a, put a pretzel stand right there next to it
- 27:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like whatever you sell, we'll pay for it.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, with with lit up like blue and green, blue and green dip with a globe view.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, they can make an arrow in the ground at points to the protestants.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like whatever we need to do, um,
- 27:25[SPEAKER_00]: But it is one of those silly, baffling things that I get hyper focused on sometimes because it's just screams, frustrating this management of something, either a budget or the ability to properly invest in the basic things that, you know, everyone else, including around Christmas, just figure it out, except for it, stand up.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, man, think we have to keep going through the list.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll probably pop a couple more will pop in.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: Because I had not thought about F-cott lights at all today.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_00]: And so this moment.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_02]: This is like me, the Hyperion Theater comes up every day for me mentally.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_02]: I just can't shake that.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_00]: Hyperion is one for me too.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like I know I was joking about Ryder's musical, but that I mean they use the Hyperion Theater to audition and get ready for the blue show, which they then move to a tiny venue in Disneyland Park, and it was overcrowded and they had to change the entire way that that was present on them.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm opening day.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_02]: Well, let's say, oh, I'm not going to have that.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to be here opening day again to them because I have a blast when I went when I saw it.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's true for me.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_02]: It was amazing.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: I like to be outside.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_02]: But I think we can have both team both.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think we can have a musical in Hyperion and we can have something if there's an amphitheater.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's more, I don't, I don't think Blueie in there is a good idea there.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_00]: I like Blueie where it is, but it's more just like,
- 28:54[SPEAKER_00]: Clearly enough, people want to come to shows.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: We want to win.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: They want to sit and enjoy.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_00]: So, like, put something else in Hectoring.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_00]: But something way better that has an actual show, because you would want to sit and watch.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_00]: But it just, like, it grows an egg on the idea that has been kind of tossed around, that you could let some of these theme parks think that that experience, that type of theater experiences is on its way out.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if my people were lining up ready to sit and watch a, uh, not really even a show like they were sitting and watching an interactive experience.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's an opportunity.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, more grapes coming.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_02]: Because I have a child in heat stroke.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I would love a show.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I love it.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: We are going to take a quick break and then we are going to come back with the number one thing I wanted to discuss with Scott.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_02]: So stick her up.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_02]: Now, we are talking about something that is very near and dear to both Scott Guston and my part, which is, when the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind was leaked by the communications head of Disney Jeff Morrell.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: Now, if this image is not burned in your brain, it must be nice because this is how the both of us live.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_02]: This is a massive moment for both of us, but before we discuss how major of a faux pas this is, I need to just read this aloud for you, Scott.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_02]: This is the stellar read that Chris Gardner at the Hollywood Reporter,
- 30:43[SPEAKER_02]: said in his subhead of this news story because this was an national news, uh, and he absolutely eviscerated him.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_02]: He said, Jeff Morrell, a former press secretary for the Pentagon, knows his way around confidential briefings, but mistakenly tweeted the launch date for an anticipated Epcot Center attraction.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_02]: Tell me everything's got.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_02]: Tell me what this moment means to you.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's just, it's so wonderful.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's so wonderful.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_00]: So, first off,
- 31:12[SPEAKER_00]: And this is something that Carly learned today.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_00]: My real, my job, my image profile that I have internally at my company is a picture of me recreating the photo that he shared on Twitter when he spoiled the opening day, Guardians.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's how funny this whole thing is to me.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_00]: The short story on when this happened
- 31:40[SPEAKER_00]: He tweeted it and people picked up on it and I sent it to someone at Disney, who works in a part of the company that tries to not leak hoping to hates.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: And the reaction was complete disbelief.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_00]: But also, that person may have been a one to go and form said Jeff that he needed to delete it.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_00]: And that was when it went proof in disappeared.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's just that moment at Disney when you had so many people, this was
- 32:31[SPEAKER_00]: There were a lot of people working on that team in parks.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_00]: It didn't have a lot of experience in parks.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't been talking.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_00]: It just felt so dang good.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_00]: It just felt so good to see that.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: Complete idiot.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_00]: Come.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_00]: full circle.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: Not only were he worked, like he had worked some other places too.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_00]: He worked for BP and helped with the like BP oil spill on the rough and it can't even he can't even handle like, you know, we're gonna let you ride it, but let's just keep it on the downward.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: And then it, I mean, the goober has to post the dumbest selfie of all time, too, like it's so stupid, it's so dumb, it's so blurry, it's just, every part of it was just, this is just, I just ate it up.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_00]: I love every second of it.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_00]: I still, I'm bringing up maybe like every couple months to people just to make sure that they knew that.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's just, I mean, so like, to give everyone the out-type perspective, like, or I guess the inside perspective is that Disney really has a specific way they like to roll out information in terms of a new ride opening.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_02]: And especially when it's a huge roller coaster like this, like this was gigantic news.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_02]: They have a press plan in place to make sure that they are announcing things at a certain time, and it is very
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's very planned out and it's very thought through and the absolute tip-y top communications person at the company Just exploded it on Twitter in a tweet that do not forget Scott.
- 34:19[SPEAKER_02]: He tagged a parody fan account in
- 34:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's center.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_00]: Gowly.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_00]: Epcot center.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_02]: And you know what else I learned?
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: When I was just like looking back on the actual tweet, he misspelled one of the words he misspelled design.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_02]: So he had a typo.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_02]: Top listen, like this dude making so much money to be the head of communications.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_02]: Had a typo, tagged the wrong account and released the date all in one tweet.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: And really it's iconic.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_00]: And he pulled off and he pulled all this off.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_00]: in his remont stand at the company.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_00]: It was here for three months.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I have a headache.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's lasted longer than his step at the company.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think there was like a story that came out of the time he had made, whatever he's, however long he was there and how long he had made.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_00]: It was like over $100,000 a day.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: It was what he ended up making.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, in the amount of a day.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, because they have to pay him out if they let him pay him out because they let him, whatever he had signed and the only fact that you don't,
- 35:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have my math is probably not right I think it was like eight million dollars or something I think is what and then he'd only work for three months, so it had worked out to like 125,000 more today It's what he actually ended up getting paid and in that time he had managed the Chapec disaster in Florida, which is not something that's on the fun list today, but he he was part of that and then
- 35:56[SPEAKER_00]: you know like were you a was this on purpose like who are you like where did you come from go back to BP and get off of our coasters stop spoiling things but and and the kind of strange part of it all of it is that we even though we knew that that probably would be the opening day we actually didn't have it 100% confirmed.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_00]: That is when it was going to open for a couple months after that because it was just as easy that this dumb dumb got a wrong as he did get a right, you know, like we were 99% sure that it probably would end up being that memorial day, but we still didn't have it 100% for a solid month or two after that's how far ahead he was with his breaking news that he just needed to share with the world.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_02]: really funny to view it through the lens of this man tried to do our job for one day and failed.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_02]: Like he had to or his job.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_02]: He couldn't do his job or our job.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like he couldn't go on a ride and shut up about the things that are not allowed to say.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's the job.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_00]: And he couldn't do his job and he tried to scoop the scoopers.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, took the worst photo.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_02]: Oh man, wow, that was a that was a great day to be on the internet.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: There are a few days out there where it's like a beautiful day to be online and that was a clear the schedule kind of day.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: It was too fun.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, and my last story on this from the actual opening of of Cosmic, I, the photo that is my, my profile photo of my company, which is still this.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_00]: Recreation of his photo.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_00]: I tweeted from the opening, a word for word version of his tweet when I got to write it for the first time, announcing it and another person fairly high up in the communications part of Disney, saw me at the opening at scene my tweet mocking Jeff.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_00]: I can't tell you what I'm talking about, but just know that I saw that and I really liked it.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_00]: I can't tell you what I'm talking about.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's like, that's a good, I like that compliment.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's someone who's saying I really enjoyed it, even though I can't say exactly what it is I'm referring to.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_02]: But just another day at the office.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: Just another day.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I was going to do something else next, but do you want to tell me about your favorite t-shirt instead?
- 38:45[SPEAKER_02]: This is one I'm not as familiar with, but it's the iconic.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like I've seen this all over the internet.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_02]: I actually don't know the origin.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_02]: What do you know?
- 38:54[SPEAKER_02]: Or can you explain the t-shirt and then tell me you can know about it?
- 38:57[SPEAKER_02]: You can.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_00]: The best part is that you can explain it because we have never been given a full contact.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_00]: So there is a picture of
- 39:07[SPEAKER_00]: a man at Epcot, walking around World Showcase, and it's a black t-shirt.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, we don't have a photo of the front, which could solve the mystery, but we don't have that.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_00]: But on the back, it says Mexico, China, Germany, Japan, Morocco.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so maybe those are the places you want to go around the Showcase.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_00]: And it says, all of that makes sense.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_00]: If there's a line and it says, lightning, miscelled, lightning, lightning, McQueen's rating account, which was open at the time, and is no longer there.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 39:58[SPEAKER_00]: was widely regarded as the most underwhelming at the best.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's the nicest thing you'd probably could say, underwhelming attraction at Walt as your own.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_00]: And it was like, that was his bucket list on his first trip.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_00]: Let's say, hit up those five countries that were showcase.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_00]: And then I guess lightning, lightning, McQueen's racing academy.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_00]: And that's all we know.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's all we know.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to meet him and find out what the story is.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, so what's curious to me is that if we infer that the line is him going, I'm calling it at Epcot.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm taking the walking path over to go straight to light light lightning, lightening McQueen, but he ends in Morocco.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't even end at a world showcase pavilion that's by an exit.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_02]: So this in first that he's going to Morocco and he's like, and I'm out, I got to race over.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I got to race over to lightening.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_00]: I got to go see that car.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't know, and it shows it pops up anytime, I mean, it was the best part of that attraction closing is because this was kind of brought back to the front of my brain.
- 41:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I wish we knew, I wish that at some point someone had like completed this story and said, that's my uncle, you know, like, got
- 41:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's a list of all the things he had not done and that's what he wanted to get to tell him his trip or he's a local and those are all the places that I don't know.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_00]: I can't even come up with a good story, but I hope people get to see that the flow over that shirt.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, we're going to put all the links in the show notes for anything visual we've discussed and also call the chose hotline, please 7 or 7 terms if you know anything about the origin of the shirt.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_00]: If someone solves this, I will send you.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_00]: I was in you a really cool, something that I've received over the years.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like, something rare, I will send it to you.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it'll be worth money if you can come up with these, these story behind this photo.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, mark them up at night.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, you can send your present.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_02]: We got to do this.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_00]: Please, help me sleep, please.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my gosh, I hope we can solve this for you.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_02]: I will dedicate all my resources.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, we got two more.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_02]: And one is there's a slight non-uptate to it, but this is the absolutely bizarre paddlefish robbery.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_02]: This one is still mind-blowing to me, but just to bring everyone up to speed,
- 42:36[SPEAKER_02]: This was just last fall.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_02]: This was very recently.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_02]: A person allegedly, allegedly, allegedly, allegedly in black clothing and swim goggles appears to have allegedly swam in Disney springs to paddlefish, which is a restaurant shaped like a boat.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_02]: I guess it is a boat a restaurant on a boat that doesn't move and robbed the restaurant before successfully escaping with a
- 42:58[SPEAKER_02]: We think up to $20,000 from the restaurant.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_02]: There is a little bit of, in here, with the rubber coming in and forcing employees to the ground.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_02]: You don't love that.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_02]: But I was looking around because I'm like, has there been any update?
- 43:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's been a few months.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_02]: And apparently there isn't because the case is still open.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_02]: According to Click Orlando, which is the local six news, the investigation still appears to be active and redacted information cannot yet be released.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_02]: So it is still a mystery.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I know it's an official term for someone in Scooby-Year, but I do like these headlines call him a frogman, like that's just a word.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, but it's so rarely used that it's funny, because most people would look at that and just think like, oh, they're comparing to a frog.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_02]: At the end of the year, like Orlando local, like, like if we have a place called Frog Town in LA, so it was like Frog Town man, like that would be like area resident.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why I assumed that's what it was.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's like it's someone who who's goobas and knows how to scuba.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, but I think it is kind of like,
- 44:10[SPEAKER_00]: It is still a bit of a slang term, but it's, I still, I still love that description of it.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_00]: But this has been a, I feel like it's a tricky one because it all could be very, very real.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_00]: But from the beginning, it's just felt a little fishy or another pun.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_02]: But you don't believe that there was a man who scooped to the restaurant and grabbed money and then scoop it out.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_00]: You don't believe?
- 44:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't believe the idea that someone randomly was just like that's of all the places that's the one that I'm or without having some kind of connection to either having previously worked there or some knowledge that would make it worth being a frogman versus just doing this somewhere
- 45:11[SPEAKER_00]: But I think the fact that the investigation is still ongoing tells me that they probably also expect it's a little fishy and are just waiting for like some catch, some new thing to draw.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_00]: It will allow them to pen it on, probably who they think it is.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_02]: That's just my take.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think this person actually swam at least one of the legs of the journey?
- 45:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think so, but I hope so for putting all that stuff on, but I, I don't know, I have a feeling that they probably did not.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_00]: Both ways, I don't think they swam both ways.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_02]: Because how do you swim with cash?
- 45:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like, how do you, what do you, you just put it in like a backpack and then just like, it seems heavy $20,000.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_02]: I listen, I'm not used to carrying $20,000 seems heavy.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that's a good theory.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's probably why I'm sorry.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_00]: I was getting bigs a lot, but his clippers like running.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I have a vision like goofy, like swimsuit goofy with his big flip or feet, just like, you know, Splats, Splats, on the on the concrete trying to run away.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, something, something about this story is never fully made sense, but, um, I, I, I, I know the, I know the record requests, I think I, I saw this a similar update that they said that they're still not fulfilling it.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: I hope, I hope they stick on this story.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_02]: I, I, I do want to know someone looped back, uh, and in February, so pretty, like only a couple of weeks ago, um, yeah, because I just, I got to know,
- 47:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's crazy, but it is interesting that they targeted this place.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_02]: I would go to Rainforest Cafe.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like that of a ton of cash.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's dim in there.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's very poorly lit on purpose.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_02]: Also, like, if you do a crime in the middle of a, you know, a thunderstorm, no, it's gonna notice.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_00]: Disappearance the woods.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's it's kind of made to it's made to disappear.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_00]: You were a camel.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_00]: No, we was the problem.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_00]: The problem should stop.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_00]: There's publishes that.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_02]: The only image I've seen is like right before again, this feels like a TV show right before they sprayed out the security cameras and it's like goggles and full black.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_02]: kind of wetsy.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_00]: I was saying our our highest at Rainforest Cafe that we were just talking uh we're coming up with that I would be Camo.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_02]: No, we don't even have to dress like it would happen.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_02]: We would have to look like oh, like a weathered rhino.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_02]: Like we would have to look like the a rumpant in the Harry Potter right in Epic universe.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like we just have to look like Warren and and leathery flapped.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_02]: They never know.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_02]: They'll the only thing I'd want to steal there
- 48:01[SPEAKER_00]: That is the all that we've eaten there.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_00]: And in recent visits, it's good though.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's a good, it's a fun, it's a fun time.
- 48:08[SPEAKER_02]: We like the one we're in there for the ambiance.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_02]: And there are different ambials.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_00]: 100%.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_02]: and the speaking of food that I'm more into the ambiance than the actual flavor.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_02]: The last thing is this is something I didn't get to experience.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_02]: It happened while I started my journey covering theme parks, but I did not get too taste this firsthand.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_02]: Was the poop candy that was sold at Disney's Animal Kingdom?
- 48:30[SPEAKER_02]: Are you familiar with this, Scott?
- 48:31[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_02]: Have you had it?
- 48:34[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know, I didn't taste it.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_00]: I just dab to see all the photos of that and make sure coverage.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_02]: So to break this down for everyone, they at Disney Santaimal Kingdom, which isn't a genius idea.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_02]: They sold four different types of candy that looked and appeared to be animal poop.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_02]: There was elephant poop, giraffe poop, cotton top tamarind poop, and hippo poop.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_02]: It was all like different kinds of chocolate fudge brownie with caramel.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_02]: Some of them were rolled with oats.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_02]: the elephant poop had yellow coconut flakes on top.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_02]: I have not done a Google to check its accuracy.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_02]: I just choose to believe that the confectioners really went for accuracy with it.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_02]: And when I was looking back into this, I've only seen photos of it.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_02]: I did not realize there is a Tim tracker video about this.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I have not seen that.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_02]: Tim and I'm playing on Tim's wife's name, but they went to Animal Kingdom.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_02]: There's a video of them 10 years ago eating this
- 49:30[SPEAKER_00]: I still, I mean, why did they take it away?
- 49:35[SPEAKER_02]: That's where I met Scott.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_00]: I knew that.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't think if it were brand new in 2026, I think the attention would have been viewed as a good thing.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, where is then it was kind of like, oh, no, like, I'm sure some of them like now are encouraging kids to eat poop or something.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_00]: But.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_00]: that it's just so it's so fun like it looks really good and I some I mean it accurate I guess is a bit of what I should use looks very accurate um but I think if they just they just didn't put who in the name it was just implied you know like uh maybe they would have been able to you know way with that I don't know
- 50:26[SPEAKER_02]: And I will say it is these are animals whose poop we do not have access to.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, that is one way to say so it's not like it's not like it's gonna inspire someone to eat.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_02]: That's very hard.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think this would have this would have broken TikTok.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_02]: This would have been such a fun silly story.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think this would have gotten they would have gotten like four zillion impressions for it.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think it would have been what have been fun.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think they can still reintroduce it and it would be great.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think I think it's genius.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's genius.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's so it's so goofy silly and well kingdom theme park.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_02]: I just I think they got to bring stuff like this back.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_02]: I really do.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_02]: We don't need the popcorn with the skittles in it.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_02]: Like this is what we need.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_00]: I long did it last, do you remember when you were all in?
- 51:09[SPEAKER_02]: It was only, I feel like it was maybe a few.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like a season?
- 51:12[SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't think it was very long at all.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_00]: I was not even more.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_02]: No, it wasn't that long.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted, I'd say I looked up so many dates last night.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_02]: They're all kind of melding together.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_02]: I think the most it was was two months.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_02]: The least was probably three weeks.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_00]: But what a shame, so now you have to pick if you could bring back animal kingdom poop or in the experience.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_00]: There is one correct answer here, so we're clear.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_02]: Why am I torn?
- 51:44[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, I'm one hand, I would love to eat your half poop on the other hand, pop a shot.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_02]: I, I think NBA experience.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_02]: I just believe I'm going to go down on the ship as it sings like I just think there's just those two brands I think they could work together I just still think it could work.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_02]: I still think it could work.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_00]: I actually don't disagree.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_00]: I think it could.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think it could work.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was just the It was just bad timing.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_00]: I miss the same answer for like star cruiser all that hitting at different times in our lives like
- 52:19[SPEAKER_00]: Um, more grace could have been allowed for some things that we're not giving grace during that time.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_02]: I, yeah.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm still a little too close to Star Cruiser to consider it a goofy theme park happening.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_02]: It was, I think the Jenny Nicholson video series was one of the goofiest things that ever happened.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_02]: But Star Cruiser, I'm kind of like, oh, like I saw where they were going and like the way immersiaries as we're going, like it made sense.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_02]: but the world has been so tumultuous and also, I mean, the viewing through the poll, if you don't know, it was from to feel like that's irrefutable.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_02]: There's nothing I can do about that.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I'm not going to argue.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_00]: I think the only thing goofy about circuit, I agree.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a goofy.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think it just got a raw deal at a raw time.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_00]: But I think the only thing goofy with it was
- 53:06[SPEAKER_00]: outrage from people that never went, didn't experience it, but just seemed so invested in something that they had never
- 53:17[SPEAKER_00]: actually done and we're so convinced that all people that actually like something could never have actually liked it.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_00]: I mean that my one of my personal finances just how people get so consumed in other people's real life experiences and how they
- 53:38[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, as wrong as I think you probably are about NBA experience, I respect it.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I know.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_02]: I get it.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_00]: But like, like, it doesn't, like, it doesn't bother me.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_00]: When someone would, it was just during Syracuser, it was like, anyone liked it.
- 53:54[SPEAKER_00]: It was just kind of like this.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_00]: What is wrong with you?
- 53:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like, how could you?
- 53:58[SPEAKER_00]: And that is the goofiest part of that whole or deal is how
- 54:03[SPEAKER_00]: crazy, passionate people were about something that they personally never experienced.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_00]: I never did it, but I certainly have now.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I think you were there.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why in my memory you're like at one of the tables sitting hanging out.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_00]: Never set foot on it.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_00]: There was like an opportunity
- 54:26[SPEAKER_00]: and check it out, not actually stay the night like during the opening weekend.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_00]: It had like a come experience, you know, some of the things and I just couldn't couldn't make it down then.
- 54:36[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but I never felt that I was the right person to even try to talk about it because I'm not a huge Star Wars fan.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_00]: But that then stopped everyone else.
- 54:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about it for once on end, uh,
- 54:55[SPEAKER_00]: We could probably talk for hours just on on StarCrisier, but more of my point with it, there's a lot of things that happened during that time that didn't get a fair shake.
- 55:06[SPEAKER_00]: And even though the poop, the poop came before, because it was 10 years ago, I think it's time for a redo.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_02]: I do too.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_00]: Redo number two.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_02]: So you would rather have poop than and be experienced as what you're saying.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it is a ridiculous question that I asked, first of all, because they're being on the same like one one is like they could do it a weekend the other would be, you know, this massive undertaking, but if I forget all of that.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think I would still take a poop.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I got to know.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_02]: I got to know.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_02]: Scott, it was so wonderful to have you on.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to quickly ask you our some of our lightning lane questions.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_02]: These are just like quick little, you know, it's a little thing lane.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_02]: It's just quick questions.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you know the link.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, some of them are a little tricky off the top of your head, but we will do our best.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_02]: What is the most secret space within Disney parks that you have been to?
- 56:01[SPEAKER_00]: Secret space.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_00]: Oh.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I didn't get to go there until it was a public space, but the bar it up got.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_00]: Now, it used to be like a secret lounge up there.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_00]: I've been there, but it's not a secret.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_00]: So, but it used to be like a secret, I think.
- 56:19[SPEAKER_00]: Have you seen those lounge or whatever?
- 56:21[SPEAKER_02]: Have you done like a utility door?
- 56:23[SPEAKER_00]: I did do it like a tour.
- 56:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a tour in the utility door is a large kingdom.
- 56:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's probably it.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_02]: Have you been in the Cinderella Castle suite?
- 56:32[SPEAKER_00]: I have not.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_02]: They haven't brought people up in a really long time.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's, no, I have not done that.
- 56:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure it's in the cards for you.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_02]: Though you're quite tall.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_02]: It might be tricky for you.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_02]: I feel good.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_00]: I did get it.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_00]: The last time before they, when they used the wonders of life at Epcot for festivals, the last year they did it, they there was got to see the body wars area of that because they had like a,
- 57:04[SPEAKER_00]: They put up these partitions and stuff in there when they were using it for a festival and they were starting to take stuff down because it was like at the end of it and so I got I didn't go back there, but I got a little peek back into the body wars area, and that was like.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_00]: That was pretty cool.
- 57:20[SPEAKER_02]: Whoa.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_00]: That's about that's about as well.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_02]: And there is there is one thing I'm trying to see back in high mind you there's one thing we can't talk about that we both saw recently.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_02]: the thing at the place.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, man.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_00]: See, that one makes me sad.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, sorry.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, sorry.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, sorry.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, guys.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_02]: You don't know what we're talking about, and it's a big bummer.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_02]: What is your favorite Epcot Pavilion?
- 57:45[SPEAKER_00]: Um, oh, next go.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_00]: Good plan.
- 57:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 57:49[SPEAKER_02]: Good vibe.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_02]: If you could travel back in time to a moment of your career or at any point of a day covering Disney, like where would you go?
- 57:57[SPEAKER_02]: And what would it be and why would it be a ride opening would be a park opening like where would you time travel through?
- 58:04[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I wouldn't maybe go back.
- 58:10[SPEAKER_00]: that the lesser fun, like not at a theme park opening, I would go back to the day that I came back because about an hour before it happened, I think I could have actually, like, been right on top of that, having heard something about an hour before it was put, like, you're still a newsman, you wanna go back to report the news?
- 58:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that would've been a really cool scoop to scoop that before,
- 58:38[SPEAKER_00]: even Disney announced it.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_02]: You were a really good at your job because my was like, I want to, I want to go to opening that car.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see the original gosh, like I want to see all the characters.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_00]: So my fun one though would still be probably cosmic rewind because I got to ride it with the Imagineers like as they were Thomas Gerald walked me through the attraction.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_00]: And this was at the opening of that.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_00]: I got to go just with him.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_00]: And he was like explaining the queue to me.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_00]: And then I won't spoil it.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_00]: In case he was exhausted on it, but there's a reveal moment in the queue for Cosplay rewind that is really, really cool.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_00]: and I'll never forget like he was just standing there like just staring into my eyes because he just wanted to watch my reaction to it.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_00]: And so I did know something was about to happen because he was just like I had his hands like just right there and he was just like locked eyes on me as I'm watching the pre-show.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_00]: That was a really cool thing to do that with someone who worked on it for as long as he had and that was his first time taking anyone on it that didn't
- 59:51[SPEAKER_00]: And then also at that event, we also are at that opening.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_00]: There was a lot of time for repeat rides on that ride, which you don't get to do very often.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_02]: That was a good day.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_02]: Do you remember what we did after?
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_00]: It's all really bad, Moody.
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_02]: I still, do you know that I still like once a month feel guilty about we were, so we were all, we were basically had access to garden to the galaxy cosmic rewind the whole day.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_02]: And we knew that it was never going to happen again.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_02]: I wrote 17 times.
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember how many you wrote, but at the, it was time to go because they had Disney had gotten a theater for us to see Dr.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_02]: Strange in the multiverse of madness.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_02]: And it was like, oh my god, we're going from this event to go see a movie with all of our friends and co-workers.
- 1:00:31[SPEAKER_02]: This is amazing.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_02]: And I remember you being like, why don't we just stay and ride the ride more?
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, but we got to see Dr.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_02]: Strange.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_02]: And then we went, I was like, Scott, you got to come see it.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_02]: And then we
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_00]: wasn't great.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_00]: But it was still a right decision.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_00]: We had to go, we needed to see the movie.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_00]: It was still fun.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:05[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:08[UNKNOWN]: It was fun.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:12[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_00]: It was fun.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_00]: It was
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_00]: for that one.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_00]: The really quick story on that one is they tried to usher everyone's breakfast.
- 1:01:21[SPEAKER_00]: after the grand opening moment and I was like, I'm here to ride.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_00]: So I just went over, asked the person, everyone else was being pushed breakfast and I was like, is it open?
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, yeah, go ahead.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_00]: So I went in, me and my photographer went in and we started taking pictures of the queue and then up behind us comes the cast of a half-tar.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_00]: And sure enough, they had opened the ride but it was supposed to only be for them.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_00]: But then they kind of let us just join in, so it was pretty cool to ride that for the first time with a cast of Avatar.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that is cool.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_00]: It was neat.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_00]: Even though it was an accident, it was supposed to be there.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_02]: But sometimes I mean, all of these rules are only in place for like two days only.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_02]: So sometimes random things can just work out.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't break any rules, but we were not really supposed to be in that group.
- 1:02:08[SPEAKER_00]: But it's physical.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_02]: That is sometimes what you have to do to get the job done.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_02]: And that's all I'm going to say about that.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_02]: Last question for you.
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_02]: Describe to me your perfect Disney world day.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I love, I like Magic Kingdom and a lot of people.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of a hassle for most.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_00]: But I would say,
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'd probably starting there with some people mover, some chill attractions, pirates, and then ending it probably at upcut.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_00]: I like nighttime, even with the broken LEDs, I still love that park at night.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_00]: Spaceship Earth with the lights that came during the 50 down of the earth series, so cool.
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_00]: So I would say evening there, just walking around,
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_00]: would be the the cap of a birthday.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_02]: Well, thank you so much for coming on the podcast and I'm so excited to be going to spend April Fool's together.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thanks for having me.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, Carly, my name is Hannah.
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_03]: I called in a few years ago about bringing a big group to Disney in.
- 1:03:36[SPEAKER_03]: How to organize meals together in Jenny Plus, recipes.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, my rant today is, why can I not book my 2027 Disney trip a year in advance?
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_03]: I'm trying to go in January, 2027.
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_03]: I've got two small kids, two under the age of two,
- 1:03:56[SPEAKER_03]: I just want to book the trip.
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_03]: I want to start paying on it, and yes, I can just put money aside in my account, but I want to see my money going toward my trip.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_03]: Why in 2026 can we still not book these trips in advance?
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe they're the logical reason that I just haven't heard or come across.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_03]: But I can book a cruise for two years out.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_03]: Why can I not book my Disney World trip a year out?
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_03]: Why?
- 1:04:23[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, that is my little rant slash question to you today.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you so much for all that you do for the Disney community.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_03]: I appreciate all of your content and keep me in the best.
- 1:04:35[SPEAKER_02]: Hi, thank you for this call because, oh my gosh, that is so frustrating.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_02]: I tend to book my trips truly like eight weeks out.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's not good.
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_02]: I know it's not the way your supposed to do stuff.
- 1:04:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's just how I am.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm too and pretty surprised that even in, I mean, I'm recording this on March 24th.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_02]: that you can't book a trip for under a year away.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_02]: That's not that far away.
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_02]: So I reached out, of course, to my agent Blair and MEI Mouse fan travel to be like, what's the deal here, what's going on?
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_02]: And Blair gave me the deal.
- 1:05:04[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, gave me the download.
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_02]: No, gave me the info.
- 1:05:07[SPEAKER_02]: DL is like keeping something on the deal.
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_02]: This isn't a secret.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_02]: I just goofed to two phrases.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_02]: He told me what we need to know to answer your question.
- 1:05:13[SPEAKER_02]: There we go, brain dysfunctioning.
- 1:05:15[SPEAKER_02]: So Blair told me that at this time, Disney has only released dates through the end of December 2026 for booking.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_02]: They will open up 2027 in the coming months, typically late spring early summer, so we are almost there.
- 1:05:27[SPEAKER_02]: He did also tell me that if you're working with a travel advisor, they can assist you by letting you know when the dates are available and ensure you are getting the best value for your vacation.
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_02]: So, I recommend reaching out to a travel agent, obviously.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_02]: I have my allegiances, but I would do that so that you don't have to feel as on top of it.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_02]: And that way, the second you can book that trip, you can start booking and start planning.
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_02]: I think that would be just nice to like, you know, offset the mental load.
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_02]: Again, I don't need to talk about travel agents, like their personal assistants that work for free, but they kind of really personal assistants are great.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_02]: Again, I booked a cruise over email, okay?
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it's, I've never felt more like a billionaire CEO to be like,
- 1:05:59[SPEAKER_02]: book it.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_02]: Here's my card.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's so fun to feel so fancy and be like, yeah, let me know when it's available to book.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_02]: And then they'll like save you money.
- 1:06:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's the best of both worlds.
- 1:06:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's wonderful.
- 1:06:10[SPEAKER_02]: I highly recommend.
- 1:06:11[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you for calling.
- 1:06:12[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm so excited for you to go on your trip.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_02]: I love a little January post holiday moment.
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I hope you have the very best time.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks for calling.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_02]: That's our show.

- 1:11:25[SPEAKER_04]: If you take a tablespoon of honey, it is the same component as Robotussons.
- 1:11:29[SPEAKER_04]: The doctor told me that.
- 1:11:31[SPEAKER_04]: It is healthy.
- 1:11:33[SPEAKER_04]: and it's a natural energy.
- 1:11:36[SPEAKER_04]: It is high in sugar, like 67 calories big deal.
- 1:11:39[SPEAKER_04]: And I met at 98 normal woman at the club who had told me she takes a tablespoon of honey every day.
