- 0:30Speaker 1: Welcome to money Making Conversations. I'm your host with Sean McDonald.
- 0:33Speaker 1: It's important to understand that everybody travels a different path
- 0:36Speaker 1: to success. That's because your brand is different and the
- 0:39Speaker 1: challenges you face in your life is different. And I
- 0:40Speaker 1: always recommend to people stop reading other people's success stories
- 0:44Speaker 1: and you started writing your own. Now you can be
- 0:46Speaker 1: motivated by their success because their stories can offer direction
- 0:48Speaker 1: to help you reach your goal through your planet and
- 0:51Speaker 1: your effort. To guests I bring on money Making Conversation,
- 0:53Speaker 1: enable me to tell that story better. And one of
- 0:55Speaker 1: my next guest is one of my favorite Sheila Ldridge,
- 0:58Speaker 1: she has to see your miles and here and Entertainment
- 1:00Speaker 1: and Broadcasting and founder of the Mocha podcast Network. She's
- 1:04Speaker 1: an HBC you graduate of Howard University something I never
- 1:06Speaker 1: knew about it, from prestigious School of Communications, her Miles
- 1:10Speaker 1: Ahead Entertainment and Broadcasting and certified multicultural marketing and public
- 1:14Speaker 1: relations firm that revised the school and lifestyle marketing, event management,
- 1:18Speaker 1: sponsor engagement, as well as integrated broadcast media campaigns for
- 1:21Speaker 1: clients like Ford, Boost Mobile, Toyota America, a RP, and
- 1:26Speaker 1: Essence Communisations, just to name a few. She senticates the
- 1:30Speaker 1: highly successful Cafe Mocha radio show, the Cafe Mocha to
- 1:34Speaker 1: Go Digital show and Streaming Salute the Streaming Salute Them
- 1:39Speaker 1: Awards series. I called her the Queen of syndication and busy.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Please welcome to money making conversations, Sheila Aldred. Was that enough? Sheiling, year,
- 1:52Speaker 1: how's everything going? Everything's going well? Just busy, you know,
- 1:56Speaker 1: but it looks in this day and time it's a
- 1:58Speaker 1: blessing to be busy. Well, you know, I never knew
- 2:02Speaker 1: you were a graduate of Howard University School of Communications
- 2:05Speaker 1: and then HBCU suddenly became a hot topic for corporate donations.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Uh why do you think that happened in like that.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I think it's always been that way. It's just that
- 2:20Speaker 1: it became more known that there were more alumni that
- 2:24Speaker 1: were hailing from a more popular alumni that were helding
- 2:27Speaker 1: from HBCUs. But I've always believed that part of your
- 2:31Speaker 1: life's experience as an African American is to attend an HBCU.
- 2:36Speaker 1: The best years of my life were at Howard University
- 2:40Speaker 1: and I was in the School of Communications, kind of
- 2:42Speaker 1: the first couple of years of the School of Communications.
- 2:45Speaker 1: So um, and the relationships that I built and that
- 2:48Speaker 1: you built at an hbcuit, HBC you just last a lifetime.
- 2:53Speaker 1: My first client was as a result of my roommate
- 2:58Speaker 1: at Howard University. Uh, so you know, the relationships uh,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and the experience, UM just really kind of craft. I
- 3:06Speaker 1: think who you are, uh, you know, as an African
- 3:08Speaker 1: American in America. Well, you know, I'm a big fan
- 3:11Speaker 1: of hbc U S and I see you know you've
- 3:14Speaker 1: been a voice of an HBC is powerful and uh
- 3:18Speaker 1: of course you know one of your alumni it is
- 3:20Speaker 1: going to be the next Vice President of the United States.
- 3:24Speaker 1: How do you feel about that she's a female too?
- 3:26Speaker 1: I mean, she's a female. It is a coming um evolution. UM.
- 3:33Speaker 1: It's such a great feeling to know that we number
- 3:37Speaker 1: one have an African American female vice president. But the
- 3:41Speaker 1: fact that she came from an HBCU. I think it's
- 3:44Speaker 1: going to be great for universities across all the HBCU
- 3:49Speaker 1: is not just h U and Howard, but all of
- 3:52Speaker 1: the universities, because it puts a spotlight on the education
- 3:57Speaker 1: UM that is comparable with your ivy schools UM. And
- 4:01Speaker 1: what we have from hbc US is that endeering kind
- 4:05Speaker 1: of long relationships of the sororities and the fraternities and
- 4:10Speaker 1: just I mean, I think it's a real powerful moment
- 4:13Speaker 1: for anyone that attended an HBCU, and specifically you know
- 4:16Speaker 1: for women. You know, so wow, Well, you know we
- 4:20Speaker 1: always talk about yours, your life. Let's go back to
- 4:24Speaker 1: the roots of our relationship. You know. Cafe Moke Radio,
- 4:27Speaker 1: you know it's in noble for their markets. Uh, you
- 4:30Speaker 1: know so Sears xm Uh we're just the future of
- 4:33Speaker 1: that show. I know. London Love is the is the
- 4:36Speaker 1: cornerstone of Yo Yo and Angelie tell Us about everybody
- 4:39Speaker 1: about the Cafe Moke radio platform for women of color only. Yes, yes,
- 4:44Speaker 1: Well when we started, and thanks to you, one of
- 4:47Speaker 1: the first big TV shows that we did and big
- 4:52Speaker 1: events that we did was the Hoodie Awards, and we
- 4:55Speaker 1: were so excited because we felt like that was in
- 4:59Speaker 1: our second year. We just celebrated ten years by the way, um,
- 5:02Speaker 1: and you gave us that opportunity to kind of put
- 5:05Speaker 1: us on in the spotlight. UM. You know, when I
- 5:08Speaker 1: came up with the concept for Cafe Mocha, I did
- 5:11Speaker 1: not want it to be named after any one woman.
- 5:14Speaker 1: It was about women coming together to empower one another.
- 5:19Speaker 1: And it really became as a result of watching a
- 5:21Speaker 1: lot of what we were seeing on TV at the time,
- 5:24Speaker 1: with some of the reality shows that I just felt
- 5:27Speaker 1: did not really depict who the full scope of who
- 5:30Speaker 1: we are African American women. UM. So I decided, let's
- 5:34Speaker 1: put together a show that represents us that we can
- 5:38Speaker 1: all work together to inspire one another, and the stories
- 5:41Speaker 1: of the women on the show, and that the women
- 5:44Speaker 1: that we honor along the way in these ten years
- 5:47Speaker 1: will hopefully inspire other women. And that's really how the
- 5:50Speaker 1: show came about. UM. And we just celebrated ten years.
- 5:54Speaker 1: We've got Lonnie Love, who you know is on the rideo. Uh.
- 5:57Speaker 1: And Lonnie is unique in that she's such a well
- 6:00Speaker 1: with comedian, so she could go from having topical conversations
- 6:05Speaker 1: to giving you that aha moment uh and and and
- 6:08Speaker 1: making you feel good. Um. And then we have Yo
- 6:11Speaker 1: Yo who's around and the Way Girl, who represents all
- 6:14Speaker 1: the sisters that I have been there and are going
- 6:18Speaker 1: through it and have made it through. Um. And she
- 6:20Speaker 1: represents the West Coast of course. And then we have
- 6:23Speaker 1: Angelique Parent who is an amazing producer and voice over
- 6:27Speaker 1: character artist. Um. That is she just brings the show
- 6:32Speaker 1: to live there a live. I mean, I'm blessed in
- 6:34Speaker 1: that to have a concept and then be able to
- 6:37Speaker 1: bond with three women that really bring that concept a
- 6:41Speaker 1: live you know, it's that's not easy and so I
- 6:44Speaker 1: feel very blessed, you know, have that and for us
- 6:46Speaker 1: to have been together for ten you know, for ten years.
- 6:49Speaker 1: So um, and where are we going from here? Well,
- 6:53Speaker 1: quite honestly, we'd like to take the concept to television
- 6:56Speaker 1: or streaming, so that's kind of where we had it. Uh. Yes,
- 7:02Speaker 1: So that's where we're looking to navigate and especially now
- 7:06Speaker 1: given the streaming platform has come so full circle. Um,
- 7:11Speaker 1: you know with the pandemic. Um, that's really kind of
- 7:14Speaker 1: where we're headed. And you know, we feel like with
- 7:16Speaker 1: the local podcast network and then our syndication, we can
- 7:20Speaker 1: offer a full range for um, you know, for our
- 7:23Speaker 1: listeners and for our advertises. Yeah, before we get to
- 7:26Speaker 1: the podcast network, I want to talk about the Sleut
- 7:29Speaker 1: Awards because you and I were talking last year about
- 7:32Speaker 1: producing some of these lives because before the pandemic hit,
- 7:37Speaker 1: and then also we kept pushing days and pushing days.
- 7:39Speaker 1: We realized the pandemic is not going anywhere and the
- 7:42Speaker 1: ability to do live events are gonna go away. And
- 7:45Speaker 1: so now you have the Sleuth Awards, their virtual I'm
- 7:47Speaker 1: assuming that you have three of them coming up. Correct, Yes,
- 7:50Speaker 1: we have the salutar Wards. They are virtual Salute Her
- 7:53Speaker 1: Awards as well. We are the women because the Cafe
- 7:56Speaker 1: Moca is called radio from a woman's perspective, So we
- 8:00Speaker 1: want to put the spotlight on women from celebrities to
- 8:05Speaker 1: uh women who you don't know, all working in service
- 8:09Speaker 1: to support the community. UM. So that's the Salute Her Awards,
- 8:13Speaker 1: and that's coming up. The next one is for Women's
- 8:16Speaker 1: History moth UM in March and in March sixteen, and
- 8:23Speaker 1: then in June we're going to go back to salute them,
- 8:26Speaker 1: and we're gonna celebrate Black music, and so we will
- 8:29Speaker 1: do Salute Them. UM. One of the things that came about,
- 8:33Speaker 1: and this is thanks to someone that we know, Rashean McDonald, UM,
- 8:38Speaker 1: is that we needed to do more to honor the
- 8:43Speaker 1: full spectrum of our community, and we didn't want to
- 8:46Speaker 1: alienate men. And so as a result, we decided that
- 8:50Speaker 1: if we did salute them, then we are honoring women,
- 8:53Speaker 1: men and organizations that all have a common goal of
- 8:57Speaker 1: serving the community. UM. And so the Salute Them Awards
- 9:01Speaker 1: will be in June, and then we're going back in
- 9:03Speaker 1: September where we're doing in conjunction with a comgressional Black Cancus,
- 9:07Speaker 1: and that will be the Salute Her Award. So we
- 9:10Speaker 1: kind of go back and forth, but the common denominator
- 9:13Speaker 1: is that we are saluting and paying tribute to people
- 9:16Speaker 1: organizations that are making a difference in our culture and
- 9:20Speaker 1: in our community. I know you are a lot of
- 9:23Speaker 1: marketing and event production for the Essence platform, in particular
- 9:27Speaker 1: Essence Music Festival, Essence Festival apologize. Last year was canceled,
- 9:32Speaker 1: actually was pushed a little bit, and then they realized
- 9:34Speaker 1: that because of the pandemic is we should avoid it
- 9:37Speaker 1: all together. Any word yet there has been announced that's
- 9:40Speaker 1: gonna come back in New Orleans in the summertime, or
- 9:43Speaker 1: doing the fourth of July weekend, or that's still on hold.
- 9:46Speaker 1: That's still on hold. I think a lot is going
- 9:49Speaker 1: to be determined based on the first quarter you wanted
- 9:53Speaker 1: this year, um, and how New Orleans and how Louisiana develops. Um.
- 9:59Speaker 1: But now I would venture to say it will probably
- 10:03Speaker 1: be virtual again. But um, it growing to happen people.
- 10:11Speaker 1: That's and that, And then on that multi day event
- 10:14Speaker 1: on fourth job, it was like a writer passage. A
- 10:17Speaker 1: lot of times, I know, you go down there, girl,
- 10:19Speaker 1: you've been Assence, come on down, let's go to black experience.
- 10:22Speaker 1: And a lot of people don't know it had a
- 10:24Speaker 1: diverse drawer as well. It wasn't always one African Americans
- 10:28Speaker 1: that attended the Essence Festival. It was really diverse in
- 10:31Speaker 1: a lot of ways. Let's talk about the whole virtual
- 10:34Speaker 1: versus live event experience, because that's a different sale, that's
- 10:37Speaker 1: a different approach. You can't count people and actually, in
- 10:41Speaker 1: some ways when you go virtual, it becomes an international
- 10:44Speaker 1: event because it's not really tied to that particular market
- 10:46Speaker 1: or that particular city that you're doing the event, and
- 10:50Speaker 1: just we're just talking about people who listening to the show.
- 10:52Speaker 1: This is money making conversation. What are something the hoops
- 10:55Speaker 1: you had to jump or something that changed you had
- 10:57Speaker 1: to do. Your platform to encourage advertised is to experience
- 11:01Speaker 1: the virtual platform versus traditional live event platforms. I have
- 11:06Speaker 1: to tell you that I am really UM surprised and
- 11:11Speaker 1: happy that corporations have started to pivot, you know with
- 11:16Speaker 1: the production UM because we do events and I was
- 11:20Speaker 1: really concerned that some of our sponsors you know, had
- 11:23Speaker 1: a concern about going virtual, but they see the value
- 11:27Speaker 1: now of reaching right far more people UM, your social media,
- 11:34Speaker 1: your digital all your promotions UM. For them, it's it's
- 11:39Speaker 1: broadening their brand and it's it's even better than the
- 11:43Speaker 1: actual events, the actual in person events, because you know,
- 11:47Speaker 1: my plan is to go back to in person events
- 11:51Speaker 1: in two if that we can do that, but my
- 11:54Speaker 1: sponsors like the virtual experience and are saying maybe you
- 11:58Speaker 1: should stay in this space and really grow this space.
- 12:02Speaker 1: And so that's what we're looking to do. We might
- 12:04Speaker 1: you know, we will probably go back and do some
- 12:06Speaker 1: in person events. But I have to tell you that
- 12:08Speaker 1: this virtual space is very intriguing because ultimately, like I said,
- 12:14Speaker 1: my goal is to go to television or to go
- 12:16Speaker 1: to more you know, some of the streaming services. Um
- 12:20Speaker 1: and this is kind of escalated that process into moving
- 12:24Speaker 1: in that area. UM. So you gotta have a great
- 12:26Speaker 1: production team and learning production very fast um and and
- 12:32Speaker 1: and a good editor um and you know, and and
- 12:34Speaker 1: concepts and and great writers. But you know that. I mean,
- 12:37Speaker 1: you've been doing when you were ahead of the game
- 12:39Speaker 1: on all of this, so um but we're all catching up.
- 12:42Speaker 1: But yes, I like this virtual space. While I love
- 12:46Speaker 1: it because like I said, uh, you know, if you
- 12:48Speaker 1: do have been in Atlanta in the venue, if it's
- 12:51Speaker 1: a thousand people or two thousand people that tend to
- 12:54Speaker 1: do it, that's all who saw, That's all who saw.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Where Now when you go virtual, I my whole thing
- 13:00Speaker 1: because I was doing it with the neighborhood. I was
- 13:01Speaker 1: streaming live and do the live event. So I'm saying
- 13:04Speaker 1: do both because you don't want to lose their international growth.
- 13:08Speaker 1: It's it's it's fun to see the people in Australia
- 13:11Speaker 1: or Spain or South Africa or degreement watching your brand
- 13:15Speaker 1: grow and it has a has a big plus there.
- 13:18Speaker 1: So I would say keep both, keep growing your brand
- 13:22Speaker 1: because you are an international brand and you only benefit
- 13:25Speaker 1: by being bigger. Well, I'm surprised that the people that
- 13:29Speaker 1: are you know, responding to us from other countries, you know,
- 13:33Speaker 1: especially in Africa, which is very interesting, you know. And
- 13:37Speaker 1: Ireland loves you too, by the way, just let you
- 13:39Speaker 1: know that. Let's talk about my favorite I've been waiting
- 13:43Speaker 1: to talk about this because I want to talk about
- 13:45Speaker 1: each one of these shows. I hope you know them all,
- 13:47Speaker 1: because I want to talk about every last one your podcast,
- 13:50Speaker 1: your podcast, because there has so many names on here
- 13:53Speaker 1: and people that I know. But let's talk. Let's start
- 13:56Speaker 1: with this. When they really called my eye the Funcky
- 13:59Speaker 1: the two folks, the Funny Mom was hosted by a sheriff,
- 14:01Speaker 1: Shephard and Kim with the two of my favorite people.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I knew they were doing it on the Tom Joy's
- 14:06Speaker 1: show before he ended his syndication, so he just snapped
- 14:09Speaker 1: him up. Yes, Well, they had started, you know, doing
- 14:13Speaker 1: the podcast and they really needed well First, what I
- 14:18Speaker 1: found is that most people that have podcasts having figured
- 14:22Speaker 1: out how to monetize at number one and number two,
- 14:26Speaker 1: how to really you know, put it into a business
- 14:30Speaker 1: and really develop it. Um. And so for Sherry and
- 14:33Speaker 1: for Kim, who were you know, very busy with their
- 14:36Speaker 1: other careers, and everything that we did was helped them
- 14:39Speaker 1: kind of for the structure to it. And it has
- 14:41Speaker 1: done extremely well. UM. And that's just an extension of
- 14:46Speaker 1: you know, they say, well, you know, black women can't
- 14:48Speaker 1: always work together, can't have too many women, you know,
- 14:51Speaker 1: But I don't subscribe to that because all the women
- 14:54Speaker 1: that I've worked with and worked with, um, we just
- 14:58Speaker 1: make it work. You know, we kind of fit in
- 15:00Speaker 1: where what we have to do to make it work.
- 15:02Speaker 1: And um. And so they wanted to join the podcast
- 15:05Speaker 1: Network is one of the podcasters and it's been great.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's you know, it's been a great experience.
- 15:11Speaker 1: We started out, we've already got sponsors on board and
- 15:14Speaker 1: you know, and they're excited and everything. So yes, those
- 15:17Speaker 1: ladies and it's a funny podcast, but it's it's life.
- 15:20Speaker 1: It's about you know. The podcast Network is really a
- 15:23Speaker 1: lifestyle network for women of color um So and they
- 15:27Speaker 1: bring that to you know, giving their children and their
- 15:30Speaker 1: careers and everything. It's finally here, the season of celebration.
- 15:35Speaker 1: And no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,
- 15:38Speaker 1: whether you're preparing for reis Magos or Karamu lighting the Manura,
- 15:42Speaker 1: are going to midnight mass, Coles has just what you
- 15:45Speaker 1: need to make those traditions special. Plus you'll find gifts
- 15:49Speaker 1: for all your loved ones. Send warm wishes with Cozy
- 15:53Speaker 1: Fleece's sweaters, loungeware, blankets and throws. Support minority owned or
- 15:57Speaker 1: founded brands by giving gifts from human a Nation and
- 16:00Speaker 1: shame moisture, or treat them to everyone's favorite activewear from
- 16:04Speaker 1: top brands like Nike, Adidas, and under Armor. And in
- 16:08Speaker 1: the spirit of giving, Coals Cares is donating eight million
- 16:12Speaker 1: dollars to local nonprofits nationwide committed to the health and
- 16:15Speaker 1: well being of our communities. No matter how you celebrate,
- 16:19Speaker 1: when you shop at Coals, you're right where you belong.
- 16:22Speaker 1: So this season, give with all your heart with great
- 16:25Speaker 1: gifts from Coals or Coals dot Com. Whether your event
- 16:28Speaker 1: needed one room or an entire conference center, Hoppin has

- 17:27Speaker 1: That's O T T E R dot ai. Yeah, yeah,
- 17:30Speaker 1: both of most single moms. That's so, that's that we
- 17:33Speaker 1: know the population of single moms keep seems, unfortunately teens
- 17:36Speaker 1: to be growing every year, and you're looking for guys
- 17:38Speaker 1: who are looking to be entertained, so it sells itself there.
- 17:41Speaker 1: But Kim is amazingly funny and I've known her all
- 17:44Speaker 1: the way back to my parents who are sitcom writing days.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Same thing with Sharon Shephard. I met her when I
- 17:49Speaker 1: was doing Jamie Fox as a as a co ejecutive
- 17:51Speaker 1: producer of that show. But the podcast local podcast network
- 17:55Speaker 1: as a platform bringing authentic voices and perspective of multicultural talent,
- 17:59Speaker 1: including entertainers what you just said, Shepherd and the sher
- 18:03Speaker 1: Shepherd and Kim whiley during less experts with the following shows.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Now I'm assuming that the Funky Divers podcast hosted by
- 18:11Speaker 1: involved Now, how did you which invoked members do you have? Okay,
- 18:17Speaker 1: we we have Terry Ella my girl, yes who HBC
- 18:25Speaker 1: year by the way, and you too, um, And then
- 18:29Speaker 1: we have Cindy Aaron Bragg and then we have Rona
- 18:32Speaker 1: Bent and you might know Rona from the Jamie FOXX show. Um.
- 18:37Speaker 1: And so they have been I mean they've been a trio.
- 18:40Speaker 1: A lot of people don't know, but they've in a
- 18:42Speaker 1: trio for almost seventeen years. You know is the newest member.
- 18:46Speaker 1: But they're celebrating get thirty. They will selling last year
- 18:49Speaker 1: they celebrating the thirty canapers and um, the idea for
- 18:53Speaker 1: the podcast. You know, I went to them and said, look,
- 18:56Speaker 1: you need to tell your story to stay together for
- 18:59Speaker 1: third years and they've been through we know they've been
- 19:02Speaker 1: through some change, they've been you know, experiences. You know,
- 19:06Speaker 1: you need to tell your story because other people need
- 19:08Speaker 1: to hear that, and your fans need to hear that.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Another young groups need to hear that. Another females. You
- 19:13Speaker 1: need to hear how you are kind of stayed in
- 19:14Speaker 1: year and gotten through this and so that's really what
- 19:17Speaker 1: the podcast is about. It was the celebration of their
- 19:20Speaker 1: thirties and anniversary and it was so well re seed
- 19:23Speaker 1: that you know, it's just now taken off. You know,
- 19:26Speaker 1: we're um, they'll be doing every you know, we've been
- 19:30Speaker 1: doing it once a month. Now we're doing it every
- 19:32Speaker 1: two weeks and just you know, and they're really getting
- 19:35Speaker 1: into it and they're speaking from their perspective and very
- 19:38Speaker 1: honestly from their perspective. So yeah, we called it the
- 19:41Speaker 1: Funky Divas because that's what in Vogue is known for
- 19:43Speaker 1: as the Funky Diva. Well, I like it because when
- 19:46Speaker 1: you start talking about singing group female singing groups. You know,
- 19:48Speaker 1: it's just Supremes. To me, it's in vogue and then
- 19:52Speaker 1: Destiny's Child. Those are three you know that to me
- 19:55Speaker 1: a legendary that resonated and so to have their voices
- 19:58Speaker 1: not being silent. And that's what this podcast is all about,
- 20:02Speaker 1: giving authentic virtues. That's what you're talking about. People were
- 20:04Speaker 1: talking for a point of reference, can give career advice,
- 20:06Speaker 1: to give advice about the loads of success when it
- 20:10Speaker 1: does not happen and when you at the peak of
- 20:13Speaker 1: the game. But more important is the longevity. Thirty years,
- 20:17Speaker 1: that's a long time. And I know those people. So
- 20:19Speaker 1: you got a lot of HBCU people. I forget that
- 20:22Speaker 1: Loney love is a pre view and m HBCU people.
- 20:25Speaker 1: I think, uh kim with this from Fisk, Tennessee, Tennessee.
- 20:31Speaker 1: You know, I kind of thoughts. I'll tell you, I
- 20:33Speaker 1: know all these people. You got to show which I love?
- 20:35Speaker 1: I love. Now. Now let's go back to My Girl
- 20:37Speaker 1: the Vegans Sexy Cool podcast hosted by Jackie Reid. How
- 20:41Speaker 1: did you get Jackie on the radio? In the podcast?
- 20:46Speaker 1: You know, I did not realize that there were so
- 20:48Speaker 1: many African Americans and black folks that have yes. Um,
- 20:53Speaker 1: when I talked to Jackie and she told me kind
- 20:56Speaker 1: of how she came up with the idea. She lost
- 20:59Speaker 1: the dog, her dog pads, and I think, if you
- 21:02Speaker 1: know what, she realizes how important it is what you
- 21:05Speaker 1: feed and what you put in your body. And she
- 21:08Speaker 1: said that she just kind of went on that journey
- 21:11Speaker 1: of veganism and now she's in it. Um, and I'm surprised.
- 21:16Speaker 1: She gave me a recipe for some greens that had
- 21:19Speaker 1: no meat at all, and when I tell you, those
- 21:21Speaker 1: greens good. So she is. She has her podcasts and
- 21:27Speaker 1: we're excited about that. And um, we're going to be
- 21:29Speaker 1: doing a she's gonna be doing a series panel discussions
- 21:34Speaker 1: with African Americans. You know, in addition that are celebrities
- 21:38Speaker 1: that are vegans and understanding that it's a difference between
- 21:41Speaker 1: the vegetarian and a vegan. I didn't realize that. So um,
- 21:44Speaker 1: it's it's an exciting of course. You know, Jackie is um,
- 21:48Speaker 1: you know, just a journalist, a great journalist. So she
- 21:52Speaker 1: brings a lot of new information, you know, to the podcast. Now,
- 21:56Speaker 1: one of my favorite people you have is Brishian Shaw. Uh, superpower,
- 22:00Speaker 1: my girl, tell me how that relationship was created because
- 22:04Speaker 1: I interviewed her recently on Moneymaking Conversation. She's an inspiration
- 22:08Speaker 1: to me personally and to have on the show motivating
- 22:11Speaker 1: people and tell them there is tomorrow. When people tell
- 22:14Speaker 1: you that, isn't it? That might not be a tomorrow?
- 22:16Speaker 1: I think to me, For she represents on your network,
- 22:19Speaker 1: is amazing. Talk about that relationship. Yeah, she she came.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Actually I didn't really know her. I knew of her.
- 22:26Speaker 1: One of our affiliates WBLS and New York he told
- 22:30Speaker 1: her you need to connect with she or Elbridge, and
- 22:32Speaker 1: he told me we needed to connect. And she and
- 22:35Speaker 1: I just connected and it was like we know one
- 22:37Speaker 1: another for years, you know. Um, and that's kind of
- 22:41Speaker 1: how we connect. It was through a radio one of
- 22:44Speaker 1: my radio affiliates. And she's she's amazing. I mean, she
- 22:48Speaker 1: she's she's a duo. I mean she just goes and
- 22:52Speaker 1: gets it done and she can just inspire people. So
- 22:56Speaker 1: she's very very and she's very special. So you know,
- 23:00Speaker 1: she's a council survivor and she's a superwoman, four times
- 23:04Speaker 1: council survivor. And so when somebody's delivered that that information
- 23:08Speaker 1: to you, that many times, and you still is upbeat
- 23:10Speaker 1: as she is. It's still forward thinking. This she is.
- 23:13Speaker 1: That podcast is as as a definitely listened to because
- 23:16Speaker 1: it's not about, uh, the fact that she's a councilervivor.
- 23:19Speaker 1: She's letting you know that when people give you direct,
- 23:22Speaker 1: you know, dramatic messages of information that you feel may
- 23:25Speaker 1: not allow you to have the life that you want
- 23:28Speaker 1: to have. What do you do? And she her messages
- 23:31Speaker 1: keep on keep planning, keeps living your dream, and keep
- 23:34Speaker 1: accelerating to the next page of success. That's why I
- 23:37Speaker 1: love and I love the diversity of when when I'm
- 23:41Speaker 1: looking at get a vegan host, you got miss Shaw
- 23:44Speaker 1: and then dare direct. I haven't heard dear. She she
- 23:47Speaker 1: still based out of the Dallas Yep, she's still based
- 23:49Speaker 1: out of Dalla. Yeah. And she's you know, she's dealing
- 23:54Speaker 1: with mental health relationships. Uh, and and and and mental
- 23:58Speaker 1: and mental health and menopause. Okay, she said, can I talk?
- 24:03Speaker 1: I said, yes, that's this network is a lifestyle network
- 24:08Speaker 1: and a lot of when I going through METAPA and
- 24:10Speaker 1: so we have conversation definitely, So uh, you know dea um,
- 24:16Speaker 1: you know she is very direct. Uh, and you know
- 24:19Speaker 1: we were excited, uh you know with her podcast, but
- 24:23Speaker 1: you're right, Um, the goal is that you all the
- 24:27Speaker 1: podcasts have been curated so we our philosophy is it's
- 24:31Speaker 1: more equality versus quantity on the network, and that you
- 24:35Speaker 1: can come to this network, um in a week and
- 24:39Speaker 1: listen to the different podcasts and get a full you
- 24:42Speaker 1: get some laughter, you know. I mean, whenever a person
- 24:45Speaker 1: hears the word cancer, you get you're nervous, you know,
- 24:49Speaker 1: so you can Shane, you can listen and then helping
- 24:51Speaker 1: through that, and then if you're going through relationships you know,
- 24:55Speaker 1: and then if you're not sure about I want people
- 24:57Speaker 1: there to come and listen to the differ podcasts and
- 25:01Speaker 1: be able to have a nice, full experience and lead,
- 25:04Speaker 1: you know, saying Okay, I'm good. You know, I've got inspired.
- 25:07Speaker 1: I can make it and I'll be back next week.
- 25:09Speaker 1: That's really the the purpose of what we're trying to do.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something, you know. You know, I'm
- 25:16Speaker 1: a big fan with your top fans in this business.
- 25:20Speaker 1: I always tell you you're amazing. You know what mentor
- 25:25Speaker 1: you know, you are a real mentors and you have
- 25:29Speaker 1: been so straight with me, you know, and honest with me.
- 25:32Speaker 1: You know, because you're you're you're you'runique talent. When I
- 25:34Speaker 1: look at all this you're talking about these careers, you know,
- 25:36Speaker 1: because you have our herd. You have a lot of
- 25:37Speaker 1: podcast platforms out there, and it's a very competitive medium,
- 25:42Speaker 1: and these people are trusting your brain. That's why I've
- 25:44Speaker 1: always told you that you know you're special from a standpoint.
- 25:47Speaker 1: You've created a voice, a channel, and then to build
- 25:49Speaker 1: this out like this seems like the sky is unlimited
- 25:53Speaker 1: for you in this podcast or genre, especially when you're
- 25:56Speaker 1: talking about women of color. We need a voice. Sometimes
- 25:59Speaker 1: you don't get that on local radio anymore. You definitely
- 26:02Speaker 1: don't get it on streaming platforms and things like that.
- 26:05Speaker 1: So what what Lanes I forgot my girl Rulanda Watch?
- 26:10Speaker 1: How could I forgive her? Landa Wats know, that is
- 26:16Speaker 1: one of my favorite people. I can't believe. I'm so
- 26:19Speaker 1: happy you got on this platform. Rlanda Wats. Yeah, she's something,
- 26:24Speaker 1: you know. She's another one that I've known for a
- 26:26Speaker 1: long time from you know, her TV show and just
- 26:29Speaker 1: you know, various acting and things that she's done. Um,
- 26:32Speaker 1: and so when I approached her, I was like, well,
- 26:35Speaker 1: you know, look, you can't hurt ask okay, right, And
- 26:38Speaker 1: I was really She said, you know, I like this.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I can see what you're trying. Yes, I want to
- 26:43Speaker 1: be on this platform. Yes, I like this UM, and
- 26:46Speaker 1: so she came on board. I was nervous, you know,
- 26:48Speaker 1: because when I went to these women, like you said,
- 26:51Speaker 1: it's pretty competitive out there. But with that's the reason
- 26:54Speaker 1: why we're niche, you know. I I'm about UM empowering
- 26:59Speaker 1: where man, I like being in the background. UM, I
- 27:02Speaker 1: like started. I like startups and growing businesses and growing
- 27:06Speaker 1: platforms UM and compelling women. That's our platform. And so
- 27:13Speaker 1: I just stayed with what we do and who we
- 27:15Speaker 1: are in our lane and we just keep driving through.
- 27:19Speaker 1: And we have a nice group of advertisers now that
- 27:23Speaker 1: we've developed over the last ten years that they're with us.
- 27:26Speaker 1: They've seen the results and they take the chance with us.
- 27:30Speaker 1: And so that's what's unique about this network too, is
- 27:33Speaker 1: that we're you know, we're starting out with advertisers that
- 27:36Speaker 1: are supporting as well my virtue of the relationship that
- 27:39Speaker 1: we had in syndication for the last teen years. So
- 27:42Speaker 1: I'm excited about that. UM. But yeah, Landa was just like,
- 27:46Speaker 1: I'm I'm I'm on it so so it's so that
- 27:49Speaker 1: you can see how it's a nice rounded out of group.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Oh it's awesome. Like I said, I've been I looked
- 27:53Speaker 1: up and go, I can't believe I forgot Relunda Ones.
- 27:56Speaker 1: That is because all these people I love Mischew Dear Direct,
- 28:00Speaker 1: Jackie Reid, you got my boy to be Lifted with
- 28:04Speaker 1: Alfred Evan and d C Marshall, or Landa Watts, who
- 28:07Speaker 1: one of my DearS for involgue that, Oh my goodness,
- 28:10Speaker 1: Sherif Schefer, King Willie, and then you got the traditional
- 28:13Speaker 1: Cafe Moke radio is also on your podcast platform with
- 28:17Speaker 1: London Love Yo Yo and Angelique Correct correct, correct, because
- 28:21Speaker 1: it's so much, you know with radio, with the restaural radio,
- 28:24Speaker 1: the brakes have to be so short and there's so
- 28:27Speaker 1: much it gets cut, and that's great conversation that can
- 28:31Speaker 1: go into the podcast. So we say what you don't
- 28:34Speaker 1: hear on the radio, you can go to the podcast
- 28:36Speaker 1: and get them than I love it. Now before I go,
- 28:40Speaker 1: I want to talk about this, this Cafe Moca Virtual
- 28:43Speaker 1: digital series. What exactly this first time I've heard day
- 28:46Speaker 1: I always trying to be in the loop with you
- 28:48Speaker 1: and now you create a new digital series or the
- 28:50Speaker 1: Caffe Moker to the Gold salute her soul sessions and
- 28:53Speaker 1: she boutique. What exactly is all that? Well, the you
- 28:57Speaker 1: know because with the whole pand M and I found
- 29:01Speaker 1: that more people obviously were on the digital on the
- 29:03Speaker 1: platforms Facebook and on social media platforms. And you know,
- 29:08Speaker 1: the talent for the radio show is talent bats. They
- 29:11Speaker 1: have other you know, TV and careers and so they
- 29:16Speaker 1: stay true to the radio show. UM. But what we
- 29:19Speaker 1: decided to do was is to take a topical conversations
- 29:24Speaker 1: UM and have a host that's been a long host
- 29:26Speaker 1: with us as an ambassador, Vanessa James. A lot of
- 29:29Speaker 1: people don't know she's out of Miami, hum and social
- 29:32Speaker 1: media ambassador. She's been with us for a while. And
- 29:35Speaker 1: let Vanessa host a it's a little ten minutes segment
- 29:38Speaker 1: show that's on Facebook called Cafe Moka to Go and
- 29:42Speaker 1: it's what's trending is what people are talking about. It
- 29:46Speaker 1: might be you know, certain subjects. We did a lot
- 29:48Speaker 1: obviously when you know the voting season UM. And it's
- 29:51Speaker 1: hosted by Vanessa James and so it's a it's an
- 29:54Speaker 1: extension of the Cafe Moka brand. But it's a quick
- 29:58Speaker 1: little catch that you can get all the little new
- 30:00Speaker 1: and everything from our perspective, from a woman's perspective and
- 30:03Speaker 1: Cafe Moker perspective. So you know, we're growing our brand. Um.
- 30:07Speaker 1: You know it's gotta be I say, we have to
- 30:10Speaker 1: be a village, um, and so part of our village
- 30:13Speaker 1: is the necessary Cafe Moker to go. And then when
- 30:16Speaker 1: we moved into the virtual space was salute Her. So
- 30:20Speaker 1: many people responded and said, well, who else have you honored?
- 30:24Speaker 1: And you know, I want to know more about you know,
- 30:26Speaker 1: how how can a person get nominated to be honored?
- 30:30Speaker 1: And so what we decided to do well start Soul Sessions.
- 30:34Speaker 1: And the Soul Sessions is on Facebook and it's hosted
- 30:37Speaker 1: by one of our past honorees, sirl for Loott Williamson,
- 30:42Speaker 1: who is an amazing speaker UM and so she interviews
- 30:47Speaker 1: has Salute Her on a reads because when we were
- 30:50Speaker 1: doing events over the last ten years, people didn't know
- 30:52Speaker 1: a lot about Honor reads. So this way we're able
- 30:55Speaker 1: to feature some of our past Honor reads. So that's
- 30:58Speaker 1: what the Soul Sessions. They are conversations from the heart
- 31:02Speaker 1: on how women have kind of you know, UM Forge
- 31:07Speaker 1: through Life UM and and and their story everyone there's
- 31:10Speaker 1: a story, like you said, in their story hopefully will
- 31:12Speaker 1: inspire someone else. And then we have our you know,
- 31:15Speaker 1: I love John Murray. UM. We have the Cathie. We
- 31:19Speaker 1: have the Sheep Boutique, and that is a show where
- 31:22Speaker 1: we feature UM small businesses and not just female lone
- 31:26Speaker 1: small business but you know, unique, one of a kind
- 31:30Speaker 1: small businesses. Things that you can't products and services that
- 31:33Speaker 1: you can't get in the big stores that you could
- 31:36Speaker 1: only get on these you know, these little boutiques. And
- 31:39Speaker 1: so that is a We just launched that in November
- 31:43Speaker 1: and that will run straight through UM next year. And
- 31:46Speaker 1: that's hosted by John Mary. So that's it. We're just
- 31:49Speaker 1: creating a little big and that's a thirty minute show
- 31:53Speaker 1: where we're featuring small businesses. Well, my friend, uh, we
- 31:57Speaker 1: just turned you're busy. I'm sure, as we all know,
- 32:03Speaker 1: it's only gonna get busier for you because you're one
- 32:05Speaker 1: of those people like me. If it's a great idea,
- 32:07Speaker 1: you're gonna turn it into an executable idea. And that's
- 32:11Speaker 1: the brand of what you've developed with Miles Ahead Entertainment
- 32:14Speaker 1: and broadcasting again, thank you for coming on the show.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Make sure I get all my social media calls so
- 32:20Speaker 1: I can promote your events. You know, I support you
- 32:22Speaker 1: in all those different lanes because you're special and I'm
- 32:25Speaker 1: always be a big friend of you. With the Swag Awards, huh,
- 32:30Speaker 1: can we talk about the swag who well, you know
- 32:33Speaker 1: we would know the piece of paper I didn't know.
- 32:35Speaker 1: You know, you know I talked about swag. That's my show.
- 32:39Speaker 1: That's my show. Come on now that you have taught
- 32:42Speaker 1: me its collaboration. My collaborations are to grow your brands.
- 32:47Speaker 1: And so I proud that we're now gonna go into
- 32:50Speaker 1: our second year about collaboration on the Swag Awards. And
- 32:54Speaker 1: the Swag Awards is where you know we are an
- 32:58Speaker 1: ament uh and so and it's hosted of course with
- 33:02Speaker 1: money making conversations and comes to about you. So I
- 33:05Speaker 1: just want to thank you for that. And we've got
- 33:08Speaker 1: some big ideas that will be coming this we look
- 33:11Speaker 1: to grow you know, I Swag Awards and everything. But
- 33:13Speaker 1: thank you for being a mentor. Thank you for all
- 33:16Speaker 1: you do to promote small businesses and HBCUs um. But
- 33:22Speaker 1: we're excited and thank you, you know, just for hanging
- 33:25Speaker 1: in there with us and giving you know, Cafe Mocha
- 33:28Speaker 1: and miles Ahead broadcasting entertaining, you know, some of the
- 33:33Speaker 1: insights that have made you so successful. Well, I'm gonna
- 33:36Speaker 1: tell you something. I wasn't gonna bring up the Swag Award.
- 33:39Speaker 1: You know, I'm goold deliver those every week because I
- 33:41Speaker 1: I love your platform. It comes on in Atlanta, Georgia,
- 33:45Speaker 1: you know, and uh magic one of then point five.
- 33:48Speaker 1: I listened to it every Sunday, and so I'm just happy. Yeah,
- 33:51Speaker 1: I run commercials during that time slot to promote my
- 33:54Speaker 1: own money making conversation platform. And so I realized this
- 33:58Speaker 1: relationships and and I I respect what you do, and
- 34:01Speaker 1: I will continue to deliver the Swag Awards. And as
- 34:03Speaker 1: you say, it's a partnership. I send you names. You
- 34:06Speaker 1: said reach this will work on my platform, don't work
- 34:08Speaker 1: on the platform. And unfortunately, blessed that so many people
- 34:11Speaker 1: do my show now and it give us a nice
- 34:14Speaker 1: options for you to be able to deliver on your
- 34:16Speaker 1: platform the type of men age wise and execute and
- 34:21Speaker 1: everyday dad, because we want to promote that as well
- 34:23Speaker 1: celebrities and well known entrepreneurs. So I appreciate you and
- 34:27Speaker 1: thank you for let me get my little hype on
- 34:29Speaker 1: for great Thank you very much, lad. I was like,
- 34:39Speaker 1: we gotta get there. You know, I didn't see a
- 34:42Speaker 1: little paper. You know. I don't want to push nothing,
- 34:44Speaker 1: but believe me, I'm proud every week I do it. Uh.
- 34:47Speaker 1: It's a priority for me and my staff the Swag
- 34:50Speaker 1: Awards because more and more black men need to be
- 34:52Speaker 1: recognized and to be recognized on the platform for women
- 34:56Speaker 1: of color. That's what's so impressive to me, because the
- 35:00Speaker 1: fact that you know, there's so many miss miss normals
- 35:03Speaker 1: and misstatements about relationships and being that platform, and we're
- 35:07Speaker 1: in to say the positive side and it just becomes
- 35:09Speaker 1: a snowball effect. And so yes, anytime you need me
- 35:13Speaker 1: for that, but of course I represent for all your platforms.
- 35:16Speaker 1: So thank you very much again. Oh, thank you, thank you,
- 35:19Speaker 1: and be careful with me, safe down I have to.
