- 1:05Speaker 1: Kendale King, How.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Are you doing? Kendale?
- 1:08Speaker 3: I'm doing good, doing good and you know, everybody always
- 1:12Speaker 3: you know with these intros makes me sound cooler than
- 1:14Speaker 3: I think I am.
- 1:14Speaker 1: But well, guess what, CPA, you pretty cool to me,
- 1:18Speaker 1: my friend, You pretty cool to me because I don't
- 1:21Speaker 1: even do my taxes. Okay, I have to have somebody
- 1:24Speaker 1: like you do my taxes. That's been even with the
- 1:26Speaker 1: easy form, I get nervous, mister King.
- 1:29Speaker 2: So welcome to money making conversations of malt the class.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Thank you, thank you for having me.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Now you know you're in California. Did did the world
- 1:37Speaker 1: start in California? Where'd you originally come from?
- 1:40Speaker 3: You know? You know, I'm originally from Cleveland, Ohio. So
- 1:44Speaker 3: I was born in West Palmba, Sporida, but I lived
- 1:46Speaker 3: my life in Cleveland, and that's where you know, you
- 1:49Speaker 3: know I call home after you know, after graduating high school,
- 1:54Speaker 3: I went to Moorhouse So I did you know this
- 1:57Speaker 3: some time in Atlanta and I graduate with it there.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Then started my career off in backing down in Florida,
- 2:04Speaker 3: but didn't make it over to LA until twenty eighteen.
- 2:08Speaker 3: So a few years so I've been here, you know,
- 2:09Speaker 3: going on six years, seven years.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Now, HBCU.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Why why did you attend an HBCU?
- 2:16Speaker 3: Man? Look, I tell you this. I was literally you know,
- 2:18Speaker 3: top of a class, all the good stuff, and you know, Mit, Harvard,
- 2:23Speaker 3: all them sending me letters to apply. I remember I
- 2:26Speaker 3: didn't know about a Morehouse at that time, but I
- 2:29Speaker 3: went to a session you know, that was happening at
- 2:33Speaker 3: John Hey, my high school, and at that time, you know,
- 2:37Speaker 3: I was doing the common app you know, applications to
- 2:39Speaker 3: getting high school being into college. You know, with h
- 2:43Speaker 3: with Morehouse, you can do the common app and they'll
- 2:45Speaker 3: take that. With Harvard, Mit, they just had all these
- 2:49Speaker 3: other different like questions you had to you know, talk
- 2:53Speaker 3: about what type of dream did you have yesterday? Type thing,
- 2:56Speaker 3: just like really expand on that. And it was for me,
- 2:59Speaker 3: it was just like, man, I got to keep jumping
- 3:00Speaker 3: through all these hoops in this joint. It makes no
- 3:05Speaker 3: sense to me and so for for me, and then
- 3:09Speaker 3: you know when I apply it to your more House
- 3:11Speaker 3: and it gave me in tuition scholarship. So it's like,
- 3:14Speaker 3: not only is this is my people telling me that
- 3:17Speaker 3: they want me, They see me, and they're willing to
- 3:19Speaker 3: put their money where their mouth is with it. So
- 3:21Speaker 3: that's you know, the main one of the main reasons
- 3:24Speaker 3: for me. And it was like freezing cold in Cleveland
- 3:27Speaker 3: and I have.
- 3:27Speaker 2: To leave right. You know, it's really good.
- 3:31Speaker 1: So let's let's talk about CPA accounting in general now.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And my degree is in mathematics. So again, just because
- 3:39Speaker 1: I have a degree in mathematics doesn't mean accounting falls
- 3:43Speaker 1: under that umbrella, because I'm telling you there's a different
- 3:45Speaker 1: level of respect for people who do accounting, and it's
- 3:48Speaker 1: a super level of respect people who are CPAs did
- 3:53Speaker 1: Was that a dream?
- 3:54Speaker 2: Was that a goal? Is this something that you wanted
- 3:56Speaker 2: to do all your life?
- 3:58Speaker 3: So it's interesting because you know the I didn't really
- 4:03Speaker 3: even know what a CTA was until I got into
- 4:06Speaker 3: high school. But for me, you know, growing up, I
- 4:10Speaker 3: used to I love playing games, you know, I love
- 4:12Speaker 3: entertainment and everything and all that. So you know, playing Monopoly,
- 4:15Speaker 3: playing you know, cash flow, you know, different types of
- 4:19Speaker 3: games like that. You know, I always had to be
- 4:20Speaker 3: the banker, you know, I'm like, give me the money,
- 4:22Speaker 3: let me do it. And so it was always intriguing
- 4:25Speaker 3: to me mind games or TJ puzzles, stuff like that.
- 4:28Speaker 3: So for me, you know, you know, just and then
- 4:31Speaker 3: growing up where I grew up, in the circumstances that
- 4:33Speaker 3: I have with my family, my mother's andle mother. We
- 4:36Speaker 3: you know, I had a you know, she had helped
- 4:38Speaker 3: every now and again, but basically was kind of doing
- 4:41Speaker 3: all that on her own. And you know, so we
- 4:43Speaker 3: have fams, we have financial issues, and so it was
- 4:46Speaker 3: always very apparent to me. And I think it's just
- 4:50Speaker 3: combined that, hey, I want to get money right, and
- 4:53Speaker 3: you know that was you know, I'm smart and I
- 4:55Speaker 3: can I can think, you know, critically, and but honestly,
- 4:59Speaker 3: at first, I thought I wanted to be a you know,
- 5:02Speaker 3: an architect. You know. My mother sat me down, was
- 5:05Speaker 3: like the you're good at math, Yeah, you know how
- 5:07Speaker 3: to do this here? And we literally googled careers that
- 5:11Speaker 3: you need to be good at mathing and architecture was
- 5:13Speaker 3: one of them. I started there and realized I sucked
- 5:17Speaker 3: at drawing. So I was like, yeah, this is just
- 5:21Speaker 3: this ain't for me. And so the next one on
- 5:23Speaker 3: this was accounting to some classes and I was like, oh,
- 5:25Speaker 3: I think this is it.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Well, you know, it's a beautiful thing.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Because like I said, I wondered around college for seven
- 5:31Speaker 1: years before I figured it out.
- 5:32Speaker 2: So because I was just stumbling.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I think about when I talk to people and I
- 5:38Speaker 1: have individuals like you with an account and background, people
- 5:40Speaker 1: go okay with Shan. You've had GPAs on the show before,
- 5:43Speaker 1: You've had accounting tax experts on the show before. What
- 5:46Speaker 1: makes mister King different? Well because his brand centers around
- 5:53Speaker 1: what I like to call and what he calls capital culture.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Tell everybody what that is?
- 5:59Speaker 3: So capital culture essentially to you know, the thought process
- 6:03Speaker 3: is that it is. You know, usually I think people
- 6:06Speaker 3: have this this sense of what finance, what accounting tact
- 6:10Speaker 3: like it's just all boring. It's all, you know, you know,
- 6:14Speaker 3: just stuits and ties, long hours. You know, sure you
- 6:17Speaker 3: have you know, some a good job, you make some
- 6:20Speaker 3: you know, some money, but it's boring.
- 6:22Speaker 2: You know.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Where I feel like, you know, the experiences that I've
- 6:26Speaker 3: had is that it's all really it's really about the industries.
- 6:28Speaker 3: It's really about the community that you decide to go to.
- 6:32Speaker 3: And so me heavily being in an entertainment space. You know.
- 6:35Speaker 3: So when and when I say entertainment, I mean like production,
- 6:37Speaker 3: so movie, TV shows, the content creators, gaming, stuff like that.
- 6:42Speaker 3: You know, it especially within that type of culture, but
- 6:46Speaker 3: also within the you know, the African American black culture
- 6:50Speaker 3: as well, and so you know, when I'm when I
- 6:53Speaker 3: came up with Capital Culture, it's basically mixing all those
- 6:57Speaker 3: things together and you know, revolutionizing the way that we
- 7:02Speaker 3: interact and see finance accounting and not just being this
- 7:07Speaker 3: taboo thing that you don't want to talk about, but
- 7:09Speaker 3: something that you that's actually entertaining and something that you know,
- 7:12Speaker 3: you actually want to talk about and want to be
- 7:15Speaker 3: in and want to you know, be around.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Well, it's really interesting because you know, I always try
- 7:19Speaker 1: to do my research when I before, and I always
- 7:22Speaker 1: do a pre call to my guests and just get
- 7:25Speaker 1: a sense can understand how I think in my philosophies.
- 7:28Speaker 1: And I went to a Capitol culturemedia dot com and
- 7:32Speaker 1: uh and.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I saw I saw pictures of Mary J. Blo on there.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I saw stories about Dapper Dain and uh for Real
- 7:39Speaker 1: and and uh JP Morgan and U Rihanna and Jermaine
- 7:43Speaker 1: dupri and and uh and I called up I called
- 7:47Speaker 1: up Kendall and I went, uh, mister King, Uh, you
- 7:52Speaker 1: know you got a lot of articles on your website. Uh.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I always like to give advice. Uh are you afraid
- 8:01Speaker 1: of any copyright infringement?
- 8:03Speaker 3: You told me, sir, Yeah, no, so yeah, definitely. You know,
- 8:08Speaker 3: I remember that conversation was pretty funny. But you know
- 8:11Speaker 3: I have thought out to you know, my team, and
- 8:13Speaker 3: you know it's my my brother in law, Jamal, and
- 8:16Speaker 3: my my sister Kalina. So we are you know, the
- 8:20Speaker 3: engine behind that, you know. So you know, Jamal and
- 8:23Speaker 3: Coleena are the ones researching it, and we're creating these
- 8:27Speaker 3: stories from scratch. So it's not like we're taking it
- 8:30Speaker 3: from somewhere else and putting it on here. It's like,
- 8:33Speaker 3: you know, the research is being done and the connection
- 8:36Speaker 3: as it relates to finance is being you know created.
- 8:40Speaker 3: So it's not just you know, we don't try to
- 8:43Speaker 3: you know, find out in you know, oh this is
- 8:46Speaker 3: some gossip or anything like that, but we take things
- 8:50Speaker 3: that are trending, you know, or things that are happening
- 8:52Speaker 3: and find a way to connect that culture with the capital.
- 8:56Speaker 3: You know, So you know, not just talking about stuff
- 8:59Speaker 3: just to talk about it into to raise eyebrows or
- 9:02Speaker 3: be a you know, you know, just like Team Z
- 9:05Speaker 3: or anything. But actually, how does this you know impact
- 9:09Speaker 3: you know, people's pockets, how does it impact the economy
- 9:12Speaker 3: economy and you know, and figured out that way. But yeah,
- 9:15Speaker 3: it's a you know, all homegrown and honestly most of
- 9:18Speaker 3: the most of that credit and work goes to, you know,
- 9:21Speaker 3: to my team Jamala and Cleena who put that together.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Yeah, because because like you know, I had to let
- 9:25Speaker 1: him know and hester Rashan calm down, we could he said,
- 9:30Speaker 1: we have a subscription where we get a license these photos.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Because that happens because again, you know, we have to
- 9:38Speaker 1: understand that I've never seen this done before the way
- 9:41Speaker 1: he's doing it. You know, this is an individual CPA background.
- 9:46Speaker 1: He's merging entertainment and finance together. That's something that unprecedented.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And he's also going to another step by creating the
- 9:54Speaker 1: stories on this website that he feels will be relatable
- 10:00Speaker 1: to your thought process, seeing about trademark infringement, copyright infringements, lawsuits,
- 10:08Speaker 1: all these things that in the IP world, you're that
- 10:12Speaker 1: word a lot, especially when you're moving into AI quote
- 10:16Speaker 1: unquote artificial intelligence. That is what you're talking about, and
- 10:20Speaker 1: that's what you're referencing and that's your motivation, correct sir, Yeah,
- 10:25Speaker 1: so that.
- 10:26Speaker 3: You hit it right on the head. Anything that is
- 10:29Speaker 3: you know, involved in entertainment, all those issues and problems,
- 10:33Speaker 3: you know, bringing it and trying to make it as
- 10:36Speaker 3: digestible as possible. I also have a podcast called Hollywood Accounting,
- 10:40Speaker 3: which also goes into it, you know, you know, just
- 10:44Speaker 3: at a level of me just speaking to it, you know,
- 10:47Speaker 3: but you know, talking about gaming lawsuits and you know,
- 10:50Speaker 3: content creator deals, you know, moving into you know, into
- 10:55Speaker 3: new media and being accepted and you know, you know,
- 10:59Speaker 3: going into a higher level than just posting things on
- 11:03Speaker 3: Instagram or YouTube. But you know, as it relates to
- 11:06Speaker 3: you know, AI crypto, you know, all that stuff, and
- 11:09Speaker 3: just tech in general. You know, it's historically, you know,
- 11:14Speaker 3: people who aren't informed to get left behind. And so
- 11:17Speaker 3: I don't want to d left behind. I don't want
- 11:21Speaker 3: to you know, have you know, people who are subscribing
- 11:25Speaker 3: essentially to the same thought and same beliefs that I
- 11:27Speaker 3: have to get left behind either. And so that's why
- 11:30Speaker 3: it's been very important to me to make sure that
- 11:33Speaker 3: I'm staying on top of it as much as possible,
- 11:35Speaker 3: and then I'm also you know, sharing that information.
- 11:38Speaker 1: You know, how I can wow, you know the thing
- 11:42Speaker 1: about it that I appreciated. And his name is Billed K. D.
- 11:46Speaker 4: A l. E.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Correct ken Dale King, and you're based in Los Angeles,
- 11:51Speaker 1: uh just been named president of the Black count of
- 11:54Speaker 1: California account Association. How why is that important to you
- 11:58Speaker 1: to have that role in your life now? Can deal?
- 12:02Speaker 3: Yeah? I think, yeah, no, that's it's a big role
- 12:04Speaker 3: because again, accounting, you know, in general, again is already
- 12:10Speaker 3: a career that's looked at as not fun, you know,
- 12:14Speaker 3: avoiding it as much as possible. And so that's just
- 12:17Speaker 3: the general sentiment. So imagine you know, the you know,
- 12:21Speaker 3: the inclusion of you know, black and brown people in
- 12:24Speaker 3: the space too. I believe I read that there was
- 12:27Speaker 3: a statistic that the percentage of c pas out there
- 12:31Speaker 3: that are blacks are less than three or four percent,
- 12:35Speaker 3: you know, uh in in in the world, you know,
- 12:38Speaker 3: and there's hundreds of thousands of PCAs. So it's it's
- 12:42Speaker 3: that type of those type of statistics that you know,
- 12:44Speaker 3: are alarming to me because we need to understand finance
- 12:49Speaker 3: in order to do literally anything else, if you know,
- 12:52Speaker 3: especially if you want to have a business. You know,
- 12:55Speaker 3: a lot of lot a lot of time. Now people
- 12:57Speaker 3: are want to be entrepreneurs and they want to you know,
- 13:00Speaker 3: push forward, but if they don't have any understanding of
- 13:03Speaker 3: finances or even somebody that they know and trust that
- 13:07Speaker 3: you know, also has that you know, we really need
- 13:09Speaker 3: to do better of, you know, putting our people in
- 13:12Speaker 3: place to be educated and to you know, learn this stuff.
- 13:17Speaker 3: And so that's a big thing that I want to do.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Not only am I the president of the National Association
- 13:24Speaker 3: of Black Accountants out here for the LA chapter you
- 13:26Speaker 3: know in California, I'm also on the board of the
- 13:29Speaker 3: California Society of CPAs. And you know what I'm trying
- 13:34Speaker 3: to do with those positions is again push and educate
- 13:38Speaker 3: and try and solve this pipeline problem where you know,
- 13:42Speaker 3: people are seeing that there's a very big, you know
- 13:47Speaker 3: drop and interest in getting into the accounting you know
- 13:50Speaker 3: space in the accounting field. And so you know, where
- 13:53Speaker 3: I'm trying to fit in is again doing what i
- 13:55Speaker 3: can to show them that, hey, it's not all just
- 13:57Speaker 3: tash returns and long hours and you know, boring knights
- 14:01Speaker 3: and everything. There's also you know fun, you know, depending
- 14:05Speaker 3: on what you decide to do, and you know, bring
- 14:09Speaker 3: in gammafied education and Gammify events is kind of the
- 14:12Speaker 3: thing that you know, I'm kind of bringing to you know, everything, wow,
- 14:16Speaker 3: trying to make it fun.
- 14:16Speaker 1: You're doing a fantastic job. We speaking to Kendale King. Uh,
- 14:21Speaker 1: he's uh, he's educated us. He's combining finance and entertainment
- 14:26Speaker 1: something that you know, you would never see it that way.
- 14:29Speaker 1: He's letting us know that numbers can be fun and
- 14:31Speaker 1: you can make a lot of money, but you need
- 14:33Speaker 1: to understand the process and be aware of all the
- 14:36Speaker 1: pitfalls that go all with it, go along with it.
- 14:38Speaker 1: That's what capitoculturemedia dot com is being made up. But
- 14:42Speaker 1: when we come back some more interesting information. One of
- 14:45Speaker 1: the things is why should people care about crypto AI.
- 14:49Speaker 1: When we come back, Kendale King would let us.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Know, don't go nowhere.
- 14:53Speaker 1: You just listening to Rushann McDonald money Making Conversation master Class.
- 14:59Speaker 4: Please don't go anywhere. We'll be right back with more
- 15:02Speaker 4: Money Making Conversations Masterclass. Welcome back to the Money Making
- 15:13Speaker 4: Conversations master Class, hosted by Rishan McDonald.
- 15:17Speaker 2: On my show today.
- 15:18Speaker 1: It is the president of the Los Angeles Chapter of
- 15:21Speaker 1: the National Association of Black Accountant Kendale King. And before
- 15:25Speaker 1: I left them went to break, I brought up something crypto.
- 15:29Speaker 2: We hit a lot.
- 15:30Speaker 1: There's some venues named after crypto websites AI. Let's divide it. First,
- 15:36Speaker 1: let's start with crypto. What exactly is crypto? Kendale.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Yeah, so crypto, you know, another term for you know,
- 15:45Speaker 3: just the overarching you know technology, digital assets, blockchain. But essentially,
- 15:52Speaker 3: at the end of the day, it is a way
- 15:56Speaker 3: where you know, the blockchain is allowing you to interact
- 16:01Speaker 3: with monetary transactions with one another. And that's the basic, basic,
- 16:07Speaker 3: most way I can say it. But and the reason
- 16:08Speaker 3: why it's it's something that isn't powerful, it is powerful
- 16:12Speaker 3: now is because you know, it's something that allows you
- 16:16Speaker 3: to interact with people through different borders. There's you know,
- 16:21Speaker 3: having control of your own money instead of putting it
- 16:24Speaker 3: into banks. Obviously, if you're you know, putting it on
- 16:27Speaker 3: a you know, like a coin base or something like that,
- 16:30Speaker 3: then obviously you're still using intermediar. But there's ways where
- 16:33Speaker 3: you can really own your own assets into your own
- 16:36Speaker 3: wives and have full control over that. And it's really
- 16:39Speaker 3: just in my opinion, it's the way of the future
- 16:43Speaker 3: and it's something that you don't want to be left
- 16:45Speaker 3: behind in And I know again that there's a bunch
- 16:49Speaker 3: of confusion and everything out there, but it really does
- 16:54Speaker 3: go it's really going to serve people well to just
- 16:56Speaker 3: educate themselves just a little bit to be able to
- 16:58Speaker 3: understand how to interact with it.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Now when again that's another area, like you said CPS,
- 17:04Speaker 1: where people of color, especially black people, are not aware
- 17:08Speaker 1: of it, don't understand it. You know, Uh, we we're
- 17:12Speaker 1: trailing in the credit game. We're trailing in the game
- 17:15Speaker 1: to get loans for our small businesses, let alone trying
- 17:18Speaker 1: to understand what crypto is. Then it started dancing in
- 17:21Speaker 1: with AI, and AI is a whole new ball of
- 17:24Speaker 1: wax that we need to get a clear grip on
- 17:27Speaker 1: or understanding only what is your definition of what AI is?
- 17:33Speaker 3: So artificial intelligence essentially, at the end of the day,
- 17:38Speaker 3: is a machine, you know, program that is allowing you
- 17:43Speaker 3: to you know that it is how do I say that,
- 17:47Speaker 3: I'm trying to say this as easy as possible. It's
- 17:50Speaker 3: able to perform tasks that like regular human intelligence you know,
- 17:55Speaker 3: can be done with it with a machine, and it's
- 17:58Speaker 3: done at super fast speeds. I am a big user
- 18:01Speaker 3: of chat GPT specifically and where I use it the
- 18:05Speaker 3: most within the accounting space is really automating certain tasks
- 18:10Speaker 3: or you know, helping me think, you know, out certain
- 18:14Speaker 3: thoughts of hey, I have this question, you know, instead
- 18:17Speaker 3: of using Google, where was my best friend before? You know,
- 18:20Speaker 3: and I would just search like, hey, you know, what's this?
- 18:22Speaker 3: Or tell me about that, you know, or does this
- 18:24Speaker 3: thing exist? You know, you can go on to chat,
- 18:26Speaker 3: GPT or other you know types of you know, websites
- 18:31Speaker 3: and programs to basically ask your questions and they can
- 18:36Speaker 3: really help you think things through. And that's just really
- 18:40Speaker 3: the best scratching surface obviously you can. Then you know,
- 18:43Speaker 3: you get into you know, higher level AI where they're
- 18:46Speaker 3: creating pictures out of words and you know, doing somen
- 18:51Speaker 3: like these complicated math problems and you know, everything like that.
- 18:55Speaker 3: But you know, for me, again at a very base level,
- 18:59Speaker 3: I'm using it to speed up mundane task or having
- 19:03Speaker 3: some type of thing that I can you know, kind
- 19:07Speaker 3: of spitball things with, and they write stuff for me,
- 19:10Speaker 3: you know, pretty quickly. It's easy to say, hey, here's
- 19:13Speaker 3: my idea, write this out, give me an outline, and
- 19:15Speaker 3: then I can start, you know, putting in my thought.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Well, you know the interesting thing about it with your
- 19:20Speaker 1: CPA background, and I want to give another note. When
- 19:22Speaker 1: he was talking about the small number of black people
- 19:29Speaker 1: who are involved in the CPA industry. What does your
- 19:33Speaker 1: wife do, sir?
- 19:36Speaker 3: My wife is also.
- 19:40Speaker 2: You kind of like hoarding them there, you're holding them
- 19:42Speaker 2: under your house.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and we agree. Just had a we just had
- 19:50Speaker 3: a son in January. Congratulations, you know, well, thank you,
- 19:54Speaker 3: thank you.
- 19:55Speaker 2: And you know, how can that son not be a CPA.
- 19:58Speaker 1: I mean, it's a it's a legacy's built in here
- 20:00Speaker 1: now he's probably.
- 20:03Speaker 4: Man.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I love it. I love it. You know.
- 20:07Speaker 1: The thing I love about talking to you, Kendall is that,
- 20:11Speaker 1: you know, there's a degree of frustration not saying that's
- 20:14Speaker 1: a bad thing because of the fact that you're on
- 20:16Speaker 1: his should to help us out, educate us, give us
- 20:19Speaker 1: platforms that you're personally building. You have a podcast that
- 20:23Speaker 1: you're personally hosting. You have a wealth site called Capital
- 20:28Speaker 1: culturemedia dot com that the information on that website where
- 20:35Speaker 1: from Taylor Swift. Information, whether it's information about Pharrell and
- 20:39Speaker 1: his conflict with this singer Pink, whether it's Terrence Howard
- 20:43Speaker 1: and his legal lawsuits with the CIA. All this information
- 20:48Speaker 1: is put out there in the general public. What he's
- 20:50Speaker 1: doing that I love about it. He's getting rid of
- 20:53Speaker 1: the gossip side of it because that's what a lot
- 20:55Speaker 1: of it is. It becomes clickbait. But his is about information.
- 20:59Speaker 1: It's about the financial literacy of it all. And that's
- 21:03Speaker 1: where I want to go, the importance of financial literacy
- 21:06Speaker 1: speak to us Kendale.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Yeah, so again I think it again real quick, just
- 21:13Speaker 3: even on the articles that we're posting. Again, all credit
- 21:18Speaker 3: and everything to you know, to my brother in law, Jamal,
- 21:21Speaker 3: who really spends most of all of the time to
- 21:24Speaker 3: you know, putting that stuff together, and my sister Cleena,
- 21:28Speaker 3: who you know, they work together to put all that
- 21:29Speaker 3: stuff together. I provided the vision, I provided the you know,
- 21:33Speaker 3: the direction, and they really execute it on you know,
- 21:36Speaker 3: on doing a lot of that and so you know,
- 21:38Speaker 3: again kudos to them really, you know, thanks for you know,
- 21:41Speaker 3: building that platform with me and you know seeing that through.
- 21:45Speaker 3: But all in all, you know, I think we are
- 21:47Speaker 3: all understanding the you know, the issue of financial literacy.
- 21:51Speaker 3: And I think you can see other platforms out there
- 21:53Speaker 3: that have grown over the years, like Earn your Leisure
- 21:56Speaker 3: for example, who saw tremendous growth and success during the pandemic,
- 22:01Speaker 3: but you know, being able to put that on the
- 22:04Speaker 3: forefront and you know, in certain neighborhoods in certain communities,
- 22:09Speaker 3: talking about finances was a hush, hush, don't don't do that.
- 22:12Speaker 3: You know, let's you know, not you know, let's not
- 22:14Speaker 3: push that. You know, let's not talk about that. You know,
- 22:17Speaker 3: if Bill's gonna get paid the way they need to.
- 22:19Speaker 3: You know, I can you know, my mother has told
- 22:21Speaker 3: me stories of how you know, in the past, you know,
- 22:24Speaker 3: our family, you know, previous generations. You know, when checks
- 22:28Speaker 3: we're you know, we're a big thing of you know,
- 22:30Speaker 3: bouncing checks and you know, trying to tide them, you know,
- 22:33Speaker 3: to the next week and you know, and doing all
- 22:36Speaker 3: we can to you know, getting getting the loan to
- 22:39Speaker 3: you know, the whole Peter to pay, robbing Peter to
- 22:41Speaker 3: pay Paul type of situation. And you know, it's really
- 22:44Speaker 3: just because you know, historically, you know, there's been a
- 22:49Speaker 3: real big effort systematically to prevent education in general to
- 22:55Speaker 3: you know, the black folks, but even specifically, you know,
- 22:58Speaker 3: as it relates to finances and you know, accumulating wealth,
- 23:01Speaker 3: and so at this day and age where we have
- 23:06Speaker 3: able luckily and you know, definitely, you know, from the
- 23:09Speaker 3: efforts of you know, the people who came before us,
- 23:11Speaker 3: we have a little bit you know, a lot more
- 23:13Speaker 3: freedom and a lot more opportunities than you know we've
- 23:16Speaker 3: been given in the past. And so it is our
- 23:18Speaker 3: duty to make sure that we are being as literate
- 23:21Speaker 3: as we can when it comes to finances, because that's
- 23:24Speaker 3: going to be a major, you know, solution for us
- 23:29Speaker 3: to be able to succeed individually, as a youth, family unit,
- 23:33Speaker 3: and as a people.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Well, it's important that knowing the numbers. You know, my
- 23:39Speaker 1: guess as a child, he liked playing with the numbers.
- 23:42Speaker 1: A lot of people were out there playing in the
- 23:44Speaker 1: mood he playing with the numbers. Wanted to be a banker.
- 23:46Speaker 1: He monopoly, He wanted to control the numbers. And then
- 23:49Speaker 1: he followed that passion. And I appreciate the fact that
- 23:52Speaker 1: you know, you tried other things before you found your lane,
- 23:56Speaker 1: which I think is important people hear that is that
- 24:00Speaker 1: Do you know this is what you want to do?
- 24:01Speaker 2: Correct?
- 24:01Speaker 4: King?
- 24:03Speaker 3: Yes, yes I do.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Now, as we close out here, how can we get
- 24:08Speaker 1: in touch with you? I know I mentioned the website
- 24:09Speaker 1: a lot, which is really great. I think people should
- 24:12Speaker 1: at least go over there, and I'm sure it has
- 24:14Speaker 1: contact us type information. How can we you mentioned your
- 24:18Speaker 1: podcast Hollywood accounting podcasts which people can find. How can
- 24:23Speaker 1: we get in touch with you?
- 24:25Speaker 3: Yeah, you can definitely fign me on LinkedIn Kendell King CPA.
- 24:30Speaker 3: I'm probably the only one. And then also on Instagram.
- 24:36Speaker 3: You know, my handle is real Kindel King, so r
- 24:39Speaker 3: E A L. Kendell King and off have a YouTube
- 24:43Speaker 3: channel as well, Kendel Kings. But yeah, I'm definitely again there.
- 24:47Speaker 3: There hasn't been too many Kendel Kings out there, so
- 24:50Speaker 3: honestly at Google Search are probably you know, uncomfortable to right,
- 24:54Speaker 3: So that's the that's the best way to get in contact,
- 24:57Speaker 3: I would say for sure LinkedIn or well.
- 25:00Speaker 1: My friend, it's been fantastic. Thank you for reaching out
- 25:03Speaker 1: to me and thank you for educating me. And more importantly,
- 25:07Speaker 1: your website, man is educating us all. There's a blog
- 25:10Speaker 1: in a sense because it's a it's constantly updated, it's
- 25:13Speaker 1: constantly reminding us that there's a fine line between gossip
- 25:18Speaker 1: and finances. And he crosses thatline with his website. He
- 25:22Speaker 1: crosses thatline in a very detailed manner with financial literacy
- 25:27Speaker 1: with his podcast. Thank you for coming on my show.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Kendale King, Thank you appreciate it.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Cool.
