- 1:13Speaker 1: not met this gentleman in a restaurant. I knew him.
- 1:16Speaker 1: That's why he's stopped and talk Saira Sean come to
- 1:19Speaker 1: my radio show. He was doing a radio show in Houston, Texas,
- 1:22Speaker 1: and I went on the show, and I never thought
- 1:26Speaker 1: about doing the show. Yeah. I produced a show for
- 1:29Speaker 1: fifteen years with Steve Harvey, always behind the scenes guy.
- 1:32Speaker 1: But uh, this this young man right here, who is
- 1:35Speaker 1: one of the America's leading relationship expert. His in depth
- 1:39Speaker 1: emotional intelligence theories helped launch his career as a world
- 1:42Speaker 1: renowed public speaker and life coach, and he has been
- 1:46Speaker 1: recognized by two White House administrations for his positive influence
- 1:50Speaker 1: on American culture. He is held as the reality check Doctor.
- 1:54Speaker 1: He is known for his provocative teaching styles on complex
- 1:57Speaker 1: relationship subjects and has been featured as an expert on
- 2:00Speaker 1: Oxygen's Snap Killer Couples, which I like all the time
- 2:04Speaker 1: I watched that. I should watch Snap and then they
- 2:06Speaker 1: had to Snap kill a couple. That's two different shows.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Now Snap had me for two years, and TV wants
- 2:11Speaker 1: Fatal Attraction. I gotta watch Fatal Attraction. I'm just a
- 2:14Speaker 1: sucker for those type of shows. But guess what, he's
- 2:17Speaker 1: one of the experts to come on there, because guess
- 2:18Speaker 1: what these shows about relationships? Please work with the money
- 2:21Speaker 1: making conversation. Dr Ivan Young, Hey man, thank you. That
- 2:27Speaker 1: was I was wondering, who in the hell is he
- 2:29Speaker 1: talking about? Well, you know what I'm talking about. You
- 2:31Speaker 1: come on now, come on now, mr Mr Viral, Mr
- 2:34Speaker 1: Viral video. Yeah, now, man, thank you for having me.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It's um. You know, I was listening to that introduction.
- 2:43Speaker 1: But the truth be told the the other person that
- 2:46Speaker 1: inspires me. Um. You know, I remember you probably don't
- 2:51Speaker 1: remember for that at University of Houston years ago. I
- 2:54Speaker 1: remember I think you were working an off short job
- 2:57Speaker 1: of doing something like that. But you know, I I
- 3:00Speaker 1: remember you know, and and Robbie and Mac and you
- 3:03Speaker 1: if you are already acute, and you know, and I
- 3:07Speaker 1: was just thinking back. You know, if you make up
- 3:10Speaker 1: your mind to make it, you've got two charges. You
- 3:14Speaker 1: can not want nothing and be mad at the world
- 3:17Speaker 1: for not opening the door, or you can make up
- 3:20Speaker 1: your mind. And when I watch people don't realize what
- 3:23Speaker 1: it took to be you. But I know what it took,
- 3:26Speaker 1: and I watched what you did. And one of the biggest,
- 3:29Speaker 1: couple of the biggest things you taught me, uh up
- 3:33Speaker 1: close and from afar is okay. All that talk sounds good,
- 3:37Speaker 1: That big talk sounds good. Now what can I appen?
- 3:39Speaker 1: You're gonna put it with it, you know, and you
- 3:41Speaker 1: gotta get your behind up in the morning and walk something,
- 3:44Speaker 1: you know, because ain't nobody don't give you nothing. And
- 3:47Speaker 1: that's true. And you know, the thing about it is
- 3:49Speaker 1: that first of all, you're talented, and first of all
- 3:51Speaker 1: you've been consistent, and first of all, you know you
- 3:55Speaker 1: under you understand the value of a relationship because you
- 3:57Speaker 1: know that's what makes you successful long term, and a
- 4:00Speaker 1: lot of people don't understand that a relationship. You know,
- 4:03Speaker 1: the old people tell you that don't don't mess up.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Don't mess up there. You might have to come back
- 4:07Speaker 1: and say hello, you might have to say hi, I
- 4:10Speaker 1: might have to drive down that street again. Martha walked
- 4:13Speaker 1: through that front door again. Don't get kicked out the
- 4:15Speaker 1: back because they won't let you in the front no more.
- 4:18Speaker 1: That's what That's what having a winning careers and you
- 4:21Speaker 1: have a winning career. That when I when I talk
- 4:23Speaker 1: about motivation, that what did the Reality Check Doctor come from? Doctor? Uh?
- 4:29Speaker 1: Being honest that I was having dinner with the producer
- 4:33Speaker 1: from CNN in Atlanta and they were, you know, we
- 4:37Speaker 1: were We've been talking to several networks over the last
- 4:40Speaker 1: several months about where I put what where can I go?
- 4:44Speaker 1: That's a good fit in the lady said to me,
- 4:47Speaker 1: she said, well, uh, you know, we love what you do,
- 4:51Speaker 1: but we don't know what to call it. I mean,
- 4:53Speaker 1: what do we call it? And we set there for
- 4:55Speaker 1: a minute and she said, you know, I've looked at videos,
- 4:58Speaker 1: I read your content. She said, especially that's like you
- 5:01Speaker 1: just give people a reality checking. Right when she said it,
- 5:04Speaker 1: the alarm went off. And I mean, this is I'm
- 5:07Speaker 1: gonna tell you all. Don't do what I did. But
- 5:09Speaker 1: my country behind Rashawn was tempting Jaylene mack Up under
- 5:13Speaker 1: the table. I need you to file a trademark registration
- 5:17Speaker 1: on de Reality Check Doctor. And it's been uh something
- 5:22Speaker 1: that now we do have a trademark on it and uh,
- 5:25Speaker 1: you know like that lady said people need to get
- 5:28Speaker 1: you in one sentence and I think that's not a sentence,
- 5:32Speaker 1: but it's a phrase and it works. I love it.
- 5:34Speaker 1: But guess what, that's the reality of how this business work.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Because you put it out in the usually it's just
- 5:40Speaker 1: a space. Now to put it on the internet, now,
- 5:42Speaker 1: to put it on social media, and it's not trademark
- 5:45Speaker 1: or copyrighted. Somebody gonna do it now. You know, you
- 5:48Speaker 1: put out a little phrase, it sounds good, you better
- 5:50Speaker 1: go online and turn that into a domain and on it.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I remember that it was so funny. Uh when Steve
- 5:56Speaker 1: Harvey I was producing I was producing this show. He
- 5:59Speaker 1: he shouted, I got my fan club named Steve Harvey Nation.
- 6:04Speaker 1: He just said Steve Harvey Nation. And I said, Steve
- 6:06Speaker 1: Stock Steve Harvey Nation, that's name my fan club before
- 6:11Speaker 1: I was eight. Within fifteen minutes of him saying that,
- 6:15Speaker 1: somebody bought the domain. And then I said, we want
- 6:19Speaker 1: to We want a hundred thousand dollars if we wanted
- 6:22Speaker 1: to buy. Yeah, so we had the name s H Nation.
- 6:28Speaker 1: We had to call it s H Nation because somebody
- 6:30Speaker 1: bought Steve Harvy Nation. So so don't say country when
- 6:34Speaker 1: you're talk about us under the table typing texting. Jay
- 6:36Speaker 1: Lene mac was a renowned trademark lawyer, and uh, that
- 6:40Speaker 1: only does all my trademarks. She's outstanding. She wrote a
- 6:43Speaker 1: book on trademarks, and so she's a person that you
- 6:46Speaker 1: should go to if you're doing it. You know, you
- 6:48Speaker 1: just gotta tell people these relationships because every trademark I
- 6:50Speaker 1: ever did with Steve Harvey, I did it through jay
- 6:52Speaker 1: Lenny Mack. And so when he was talking about under
- 6:54Speaker 1: the table texting and now he says, hey, our own
- 6:57Speaker 1: reality check doctor, that's how you have to do it.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I'm just like, you know, don't let it. Don't don't
- 7:01Speaker 1: don't act like that's a joke of the don't don't
- 7:03Speaker 1: say it's a country or it's a business. And people
- 7:06Speaker 1: will take away your dreams if you don't control them
- 7:09Speaker 1: and put them in place on the right, on the
- 7:10Speaker 1: right style. Now, when you say provocative teaching style, what
- 7:14Speaker 1: does that mean, Dr Young? Well, being honest man, I
- 7:19Speaker 1: think that there's a lot of there's a lot of
- 7:24Speaker 1: bs out there. And when I say bs, I mean
- 7:27Speaker 1: with the bull left in the barnyards and these people
- 7:32Speaker 1: come out with all of these um catchphrases, name it
- 7:36Speaker 1: didn't claim it, the law of attraction, if you just
- 7:40Speaker 1: visualize it, well, you visualize all you don't day longs,
- 7:43Speaker 1: you don't get off your button, you know. And and
- 7:46Speaker 1: then many of us we are so good at lying
- 7:50Speaker 1: to not other people, even sometimes we allow ourselves to
- 7:54Speaker 1: them much so if you continue not being said, the
- 8:00Speaker 1: reality of of what it takes to make it, you know,
- 8:05Speaker 1: like this show money making conversations, That's just what this is.
- 8:08Speaker 1: It's money making conversation. And when I talk to people,
- 8:11Speaker 1: if well I don't care a Ted talker, if my
- 8:15Speaker 1: best Ted talks for me, just sitting up talking to
- 8:17Speaker 1: her brother or sister one on one at an airport,
- 8:20Speaker 1: in a gym or whatever. But the one thing that
- 8:23Speaker 1: if wise people need is the truth. And when somebody
- 8:27Speaker 1: tells you I remember you said this is Steve said
- 8:31Speaker 1: this in an interview one day, both of you that
- 8:34Speaker 1: you know, if you tell somebody you're an actor and
- 8:36Speaker 1: they said, well, where are you performing and you say nowhere,
- 8:40Speaker 1: You're got no dog the actor, you're lying? You know
- 8:49Speaker 1: what I mean? Okay with Steve said it, But I
- 8:52Speaker 1: know for a fact, man, that is if you don't
- 8:55Speaker 1: have someone telling you, you know what man kame thing,
- 9:00Speaker 1: you might be able to write some lyrics. Damn saying
- 9:03Speaker 1: no singer, right, you ain't be great at writing a script,
- 9:07Speaker 1: but you're not no actor. And that's what I try
- 9:09Speaker 1: to do in my practice and in my speaking, is
- 9:11Speaker 1: to get people to pull their heads out there but
- 9:15Speaker 1: and realize that if you're gonna make it out here,
- 9:17Speaker 1: and especially in America or in the UK, or you know,
- 9:21Speaker 1: anywhere on the North American comment, you're gotter bring it.
- 9:25Speaker 1: And by being honest, transparent and authentic. But more than
- 9:30Speaker 1: anything else, I practice what I preach. That's what I
- 9:32Speaker 1: mean by giving someone an unfettered conversation. I'm Jasu. You're
- 9:37Speaker 1: listening to the Reality check doctor. That's doctor d Ivan
- 9:41Speaker 1: Young are the Houston Texas um one of the true Uh.
- 9:46Speaker 1: When I listen to a time I listen to, it
- 9:47Speaker 1: always feel like I'm listening to Dr Field. Here's that
- 9:50Speaker 1: doctor Field type tone. And I know that a talk
- 9:53Speaker 1: show has to be in work. Come on, now, I
- 9:55Speaker 1: saw you standing next to UH buying Allen in the
- 9:58Speaker 1: photo on social media? It can you can you reveal
- 10:02Speaker 1: anything to a doctor? Well? I can just say this,
- 10:06Speaker 1: I'm very fortunate to have a guy named David Parozzi
- 10:09Speaker 1: who is taking an interest in me. Uh And and
- 10:12Speaker 1: I think it was Byron Pitts. I want to meet
- 10:14Speaker 1: Byron Allen. So you're being prophetic because Jayleen and I
- 10:17Speaker 1: were talking about Byron Allen yesterday, but you know it
- 10:21Speaker 1: was Byron pits I think from ABC's Eastern Nightline pl
- 10:25Speaker 1: anchor Um. But at the end of the day, we're
- 10:28Speaker 1: talking to those guys. Uh. My publicist is talking to
- 10:33Speaker 1: some people out in Hollywood. At the end of the day.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Our number one goal is I need I would not
- 10:39Speaker 1: need to be somewhere where they're not gonna totally tell
- 10:42Speaker 1: me what to do, and they're they're not gonna do
- 10:44Speaker 1: a bamboozled thing with my content where one thing I've
- 10:49Speaker 1: learned from you is remained true to your brand. So
- 10:53Speaker 1: I'm not gonna do I'm not gonna mention this person's name,
- 10:56Speaker 1: but I'm not gonna do some ah what's wrong and
- 10:59Speaker 1: your line and I made you flying Now you're gonna
- 11:02Speaker 1: be better type show. Anything that we're gonna do, it's
- 11:05Speaker 1: gonna be transformational, it's gonna be real, and it's gonna
- 11:09Speaker 1: be relatable to the American public. If we can't do
- 11:12Speaker 1: it that way and maintain the integrity, I'll just wait
- 11:16Speaker 1: because God's gonna open the right door. I don't want
- 11:18Speaker 1: to go through the wrong one. Well, you haven't went
- 11:20Speaker 1: through one yet. On the phone. Uh. A fantastic interview
- 11:24Speaker 1: with Dr d Ivan Young motivating UH. God saying out
- 11:28Speaker 1: of Houston, Texas. Uh. He has a reality tech doctor.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Reality reality check doctor is what I the industry calls
- 11:35Speaker 1: and what I like. He's known for provocative teaching style
- 11:38Speaker 1: of complex relationship subjects. When we come back, I want
- 11:41Speaker 1: to talk to him about the gift, the job, the
- 11:45Speaker 1: placebo effect, reprogramming your mind understand, do not go anywhere.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Dr d Ivan Young will be back with Rashan McDonald
- 11:55Speaker 1: on money Making Conversations. This with Sean McDonald. You're listening
- 12:01Speaker 1: to money Making Conversation on the phone. Is Doctor d
- 12:04Speaker 1: Ivan Young. He's the reality check Doctor. He's known for
- 12:07Speaker 1: his provocative teaching style and complex relationship subjects and has
- 12:11Speaker 1: been featured as an expert on Oxygen, Snap Killer Couples,
- 12:15Speaker 1: and TV one's Fatal Attraction. Please welcome back to the show,
- 12:19Speaker 1: Dr d Ivan Young. How you doing, sir, I'm so
- 12:22Speaker 1: blessed to be here man, and thankful good. Um. There's
- 12:26Speaker 1: a couple of times topics I want to talk about.
- 12:28Speaker 1: It's a reprogram in your mind. I always tell people about.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Always tell peoplehen they wake up in the morning, they
- 12:33Speaker 1: tend to have a stop sign in front of their face,
- 12:36Speaker 1: so they really don't see the opportunities because they're blocking themselves.
- 12:39Speaker 1: What exactly is reprogramming your mind? To reprogramming your mind
- 12:46Speaker 1: is one of the things that is the number one
- 12:51Speaker 1: source of why we don't get what we wanted in life.
- 12:56Speaker 1: You know that there's this thing, um, and I'm going
- 12:58Speaker 1: to use the Bible, but it'll aplies to everybody and
- 13:01Speaker 1: second Corinthians. It says, cast down imaginations and every high
- 13:05Speaker 1: thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and
- 13:09Speaker 1: bring into captivity every thought to the obedience right of
- 13:14Speaker 1: your head. Meaning and and it says Christ. But that's
- 13:17Speaker 1: the representation of what what is guiding you? What is
- 13:21Speaker 1: in your head where we blow so many opportunities in
- 13:26Speaker 1: life is we just don't we don't think straight, many
- 13:30Speaker 1: of us. If we live in the hood and we
- 13:33Speaker 1: see the dope man, flourished. We think, Okay, well, man,
- 13:36Speaker 1: if that's what it takes, I'm gonna get out of you,
- 13:38Speaker 1: put it there and get this work, and I'm gonna
- 13:41Speaker 1: get what do God? But what you don't understand? Do? Sleep?
- 13:43Speaker 1: And scared as hell? Okay, sleep to long as Mattress
- 13:46Speaker 1: and his home boy getting ready to rip them off.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Or we look at somebody else and that person is well,
- 13:51Speaker 1: you know, if I just sleep and and I seduced
- 13:54Speaker 1: this football play at his basketball play, at his comedian
- 13:58Speaker 1: is after you know this woman, you know she's a doctor.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I don't care how she look if I just can
- 14:04Speaker 1: sleep with her world. The truth be told is this,
- 14:07Speaker 1: all of us have a gift. If you were born,
- 14:12Speaker 1: God gave you one the key to your success. And
- 14:15Speaker 1: I and I and I just got called by a
- 14:17Speaker 1: T n T to speak at something to doing next week.
- 14:20Speaker 1: You know a lot of these people are getting laid
- 14:22Speaker 1: off from these jobs. And they they call up and
- 14:26Speaker 1: I and I turn and I said, let me tell
- 14:27Speaker 1: you something. The only reason you were there that law
- 14:31Speaker 1: is your gift was needed. Now you're the reason they're
- 14:35Speaker 1: letting you go is you're silly, but didn't upgrade you
- 14:40Speaker 1: didn't perfect your gift. You didn't go get it authenticated
- 14:43Speaker 1: with a piece of paper, a license or a registration
- 14:46Speaker 1: or some certificate. You didn't elevate your game. So in
- 14:51Speaker 1: order to get what your creative promised you, you guys
- 14:55Speaker 1: are humble yourself and admit you know what I need
- 14:58Speaker 1: to take. If you can, then go go learn how
- 15:01Speaker 1: to do it right. Don't just keep howling. Go. Sour
- 15:05Speaker 1: notes that your pastor like going go and learn how
- 15:08Speaker 1: to protective gift. And it's in the perfecting of the
- 15:11Speaker 1: gift and and getting your mind under control that's gonna
- 15:15Speaker 1: bring you before great men, like it says you're talents
- 15:17Speaker 1: to bring you before great men. Your gift is gonna
- 15:20Speaker 1: make room for you, but you ain't gonna stay there
- 15:22Speaker 1: unless you perfected it. Wow. I always tell people I
- 15:26Speaker 1: go back to my life um where I was a
- 15:28Speaker 1: successful stand up comic and nanny two. I moved back
- 15:32Speaker 1: from Los Angeles to Houston, Texas and opened a comedy
- 15:34Speaker 1: club with the talent of the comedian called David Raybond,
- 15:37Speaker 1: who became my business partner. In the process of doing that,
- 15:41Speaker 1: I realized that if I wanted to be famous, if
- 15:43Speaker 1: I wanted to find out if I were really talented.
- 15:45Speaker 1: I started a Thursday night show just about me, and
- 15:49Speaker 1: so I go okays about me with Sean. You said,
- 15:51Speaker 1: you're funny. See if they come, Well, they came. And
- 15:55Speaker 1: every Thursday the show, I'll put the tickets, I'll put
- 15:58Speaker 1: the ticket sale on sale Monday. It was old out
- 16:00Speaker 1: on Monday, and then on Thursday the show was started
- 16:03Speaker 1: nine a thirty, started thirty. And so after a while,
- 16:07Speaker 1: the same comics will do the same jokes over and
- 16:09Speaker 1: over again. People will stop coming in for the first
- 16:11Speaker 1: thirty minutes of the show. So the room was completely
- 16:14Speaker 1: empty until in fact it would be a line out
- 16:18Speaker 1: the door and people say, we're not coming in, We're
- 16:20Speaker 1: not coming in to night, We're not coming in tonight.
- 16:23Speaker 1: And so I don't care what whether it was they
- 16:24Speaker 1: weren't coming in, we're not coming in. It was cool.
- 16:26Speaker 1: We're gon. We were could because of the fact it's
- 16:29Speaker 1: called perfecting the craft that you say you want to
- 16:31Speaker 1: be in and so that I was repeating the reality
- 16:34Speaker 1: of what can happen if you do it right. And
- 16:36Speaker 1: here was what Sean McDonald ala host the shows. It
- 16:39Speaker 1: was a talent shows, the four hour show. I started
- 16:41Speaker 1: nine used to in like about one o'clock. And every
- 16:44Speaker 1: week I realized, because people repeat, customers will come and
- 16:47Speaker 1: I would said every week. I realized that I had
- 16:49Speaker 1: to be special every week. I had to be unique
- 16:52Speaker 1: every week. I had to be a reason why people
- 16:55Speaker 1: will bring their friends and when they when they when
- 16:57Speaker 1: they when their friends showed up with them, and they go,
- 16:59Speaker 1: I told you, I can see him in the arts.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I told you, I told you, I told you. They go, yeah,
- 17:03Speaker 1: you were, You're right by Rochan. But when I but
- 17:06Speaker 1: the testament of what I was doing right and the
- 17:08Speaker 1: hard work that I put in and the commitment to
- 17:10Speaker 1: saying I wanted to do this was that look. I
- 17:13Speaker 1: ran a comedy club simultaneously as I was hosting my
- 17:15Speaker 1: Thursday nights. I was committed to giving every week one
- 17:21Speaker 1: and it showed because my comedy club opened at eight thirty.
- 17:25Speaker 1: It was completely sold out, three hundred and fifty seats.
- 17:29Speaker 1: From eight thirty to eight fifty five. There was nobody
- 17:33Speaker 1: sitting in that room. Nobody but wait yours standing around
- 17:37Speaker 1: a fifty five. It was packed. They started to move music.
- 17:42Speaker 1: I come on stage and you swear those have been
- 17:44Speaker 1: sitting there for thirty minutes because they knew there was
- 17:47Speaker 1: something special, because they knew I was gonna give them one.
- 17:50Speaker 1: That's a moment. I can tell you. It's absolutely the
- 17:53Speaker 1: truth has been documented. And I would walk outside and
- 17:56Speaker 1: go want you to come in and go? Or you
- 17:58Speaker 1: on stage? Yet Roshane, I go, no, we come in
- 18:00Speaker 1: when you're on stage bad. Whether they didn't care, they
- 18:03Speaker 1: were not coming in that commony club because I walked
- 18:05Speaker 1: on that stage. So what you're telling the absolutely to
- 18:08Speaker 1: shoot the trick is perfecting your gift. Now, let me
- 18:11Speaker 1: ask you this, how do you get out of your way? Though? Doc?
- 18:13Speaker 1: How do you get out of your way? Well, the
- 18:16Speaker 1: first thing you have to do is stop blaming everybody
- 18:20Speaker 1: else for where you're not. Well. You know, when when
- 18:24Speaker 1: you were saying that, what was going through my mind
- 18:26Speaker 1: is that these people didn't see you sitting wherever you were,
- 18:30Speaker 1: sitting with a pen or pencil in your computer in
- 18:33Speaker 1: front of you, writing jokes and then reading it out
- 18:37Speaker 1: loud and probably playing it back and say, did that
- 18:40Speaker 1: makes me mad? It's just funny, you know what I'm saying,
- 18:43Speaker 1: And and and the truth of it is, man, is
- 18:46Speaker 1: that you have to be humble enough and and you
- 18:51Speaker 1: have to want it bad enough to scout letting. People
- 18:54Speaker 1: are keeping enabling your stupidity to be your your chill
- 18:57Speaker 1: eating section. You gotta get somebody around you that tells
- 19:01Speaker 1: you what you know, what what you just said man,
- 19:03Speaker 1: that didn't resonate with me? Or okay, uh the way
- 19:06Speaker 1: you sung that last line you didn't better? Or you know,
- 19:10Speaker 1: uh baby girls, yeah you could have stylus, but ain't
- 19:13Speaker 1: nobody wearing finger waves no more? What's with the Jerry er?
- 19:16Speaker 1: I mean, you know, you need people around you that
- 19:19Speaker 1: will tell you who you're not. And you have to
- 19:24Speaker 1: have enough humility about yourself to realize that, you know what,
- 19:30Speaker 1: there's so many people out of here is better than me.
- 19:33Speaker 1: You know, there's a saying where some people are better
- 19:35Speaker 1: by nature than others are by practice. And it's true.
- 19:40Speaker 1: There's somebody right now frying chicken with a black skillet
- 19:44Speaker 1: in some little raggedy house in Mississippi that makes popeye'es
- 19:49Speaker 1: look like they all too. Just blew them the stove.
- 19:52Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying there is you know that
- 19:54Speaker 1: there are people out there. Man, you have to stop
- 19:57Speaker 1: and and ask somebody to say MANTHI on this with me.
- 20:01Speaker 1: What is it I can do better? How can I
- 20:03Speaker 1: do better? And that's why even as a life coach,
- 20:07Speaker 1: I have more credentials. I was named the top black
- 20:09Speaker 1: life coach in the world last year. Right now I'm
- 20:12Speaker 1: the number I'm rated the number one relationship and family
- 20:16Speaker 1: coach and professional coach in Houston. Well, I've let this
- 20:20Speaker 1: event in, Rashan. You already know you can find me
- 20:22Speaker 1: on a picture if you get my trip. You know
- 20:25Speaker 1: when I a little Harvard and l A that you
- 20:27Speaker 1: could look at the picture. It didn't take long to
- 20:29Speaker 1: find me. Y'all A catch that in the minute. And
- 20:32Speaker 1: people said, well, why are you here? And I say,
- 20:34Speaker 1: real simple, I'm hungry. I want to be the best.
- 20:39Speaker 1: And being the best means that you keep expanding your
- 20:42Speaker 1: knowledge base, not condensing it. And the better you are
- 20:45Speaker 1: when people can walk in your office, your club, into
- 20:48Speaker 1: your restaurant in where you're cutting hair and they can say,
- 20:51Speaker 1: you know what, he got some new equipment. You know
- 20:54Speaker 1: he does something everybody else don't do. That's what's gonna
- 20:57Speaker 1: make him come back. Rashan, Well, I guess what all
- 21:00Speaker 1: you know, we've known each other a long time and
- 21:04Speaker 1: uh and you've been committed. And when you say consistency,
- 21:08Speaker 1: he's been consistent. And that's that's why I want to
- 21:11Speaker 1: just bring up these different little steps that of advice
- 21:13Speaker 1: that only he can give. How you process life can either.
- 21:17Speaker 1: So I did a length in your life. What exactly
- 21:19Speaker 1: do you mean about that? Dr? Y'all? Well, Uh, Without
- 21:26Speaker 1: going into this neurological conversation, I'm gonna say this in
- 21:30Speaker 1: a simple way. What you think about you get more
- 21:32Speaker 1: of it. So if you only think about doing wasteful
- 21:37Speaker 1: stuff like like not forgiving people, Uh, you know you
- 21:41Speaker 1: still smoking weed? Who the hell still smoke weed? You
- 21:45Speaker 1: you won't exercise and you notice now when you get
- 21:49Speaker 1: up the out of breath and you notice that you
- 21:51Speaker 1: win is short. You're a man, You're you're taking blue
- 21:54Speaker 1: pills for brother being honest. That ain't that ain't your
- 21:58Speaker 1: little man? That's the problem. That's a line that you're
- 22:00Speaker 1: probably don't have a heart attack. You know you're having
- 22:02Speaker 1: a cardio vastually issues. That's why you're taking that blue pill.
- 22:06Speaker 1: So at the end of the day, what you think
- 22:08Speaker 1: about your get You have to change your expectation, not
- 22:14Speaker 1: of other people, but of yourself. You gotta do if
- 22:17Speaker 1: when you know better, you need to do better. My
- 22:21Speaker 1: Angelo had a same when she said, you know when
- 22:23Speaker 1: people show you who they are believable, Well apply it
- 22:27Speaker 1: to yourself. When you show yourself who you are and
- 22:30Speaker 1: you go, well, Doc, how do I show myself when
- 22:32Speaker 1: I am self? Well, look around you. If you're driving
- 22:35Speaker 1: the same car you're driving seven years ago and you're
- 22:37Speaker 1: not eighty, if you have not achieved more, you got
- 22:42Speaker 1: the same dusty certificates on your wall you had seven
- 22:45Speaker 1: years ago, you have you still wearing the same clothes.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I mean, come on, man, that there's a time in
- 22:51Speaker 1: your life where you have to change the way that
- 22:55Speaker 1: you think, change what you expect from yourself, and so
- 23:00Speaker 1: around yourself with some new folks. And if you do that,
- 23:04Speaker 1: you are going to lemthen your life. And I'm not
- 23:08Speaker 1: saying get start. I ain't knowing people. What I am
- 23:11Speaker 1: saying is if they're not evolveing with you, they're keeping
- 23:14Speaker 1: you from evolved. So you need to expect more from
- 23:17Speaker 1: other people. But that starts what you expecting more from yourself.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Thank you, Dr. I appreciate you. Definitely go have you
- 23:23Speaker 1: back on the show The Reality Check Doctor. Dr D Avignan,
