- 0:00Speaker 1: My next guest employs a diverse staff of professionals, many
- 0:03Speaker 1: of whom are multi lingual, which is an assets when
- 0:06Speaker 1: dealing with international clients, which lets you know she's worldwide,
- 0:09Speaker 1: she's not some domestic. She is also licensed realtor. Licensed
- 0:13Speaker 1: realtor in three states Georgia, Florida, in Texas because you
- 0:17Speaker 1: live in Houston as well, right, correct, I'm actually a
- 0:19Speaker 1: real estate broker. That's what I only show, just educated
- 0:24Speaker 1: because because I want to know I bought enough homes.
- 0:26Speaker 1: I want to what's the real estate broker world? We
- 0:28Speaker 1: get all that, you know, because I learned from my
- 0:30Speaker 1: guests as well, So you know that I know a
- 0:33Speaker 1: lot and I will tell people I'm gonna do it
- 0:34Speaker 1: at all, but then I also ask a questions about
- 0:36Speaker 1: what I don't know. So the only difference is is
- 0:38Speaker 1: that a real estate broker can own a brokerage and
- 0:41Speaker 1: higher agents. Every agent has to have a broker. Okay, okay, cool, Okay,
- 0:47Speaker 1: she's just at even said her name. Yet you know
- 0:50Speaker 1: she's you know, That's why that's why I have studio
- 0:53Speaker 1: guests right now, right the last two year guests of
- 0:56Speaker 1: the year right here, right last. She also follows me
- 1:01Speaker 1: up social media because she knows I'm a baker and
- 1:04Speaker 1: she loves the baker as well. Please working to money
- 1:06Speaker 1: making conversations. Sylvia Weddington, thank you, how you doing well?
- 1:11Speaker 1: Good here? Look fashionably, got your black ole, got your
- 1:14Speaker 1: hair flooring. That that's the look you will. You know,
- 1:17Speaker 1: I always tell people people said, you look nice to this.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I know where the mirror is. That it's there's a
- 1:23Speaker 1: purpose in my house. And so that's what I tell people,
- 1:25Speaker 1: and they compliment me, and I take the compliment in
- 1:28Speaker 1: a very you know, a humble manner because you know,
- 1:31Speaker 1: people don't have to say nice things about you. Thank you.
- 1:34Speaker 1: And so when I look at your company, was talking
- 1:36Speaker 1: about a broker and a realtor because you're all these
- 1:38Speaker 1: shows on TV. You know, you know, fixed this, flip this.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Are you one of those people. I'm not one of
- 1:45Speaker 1: those people. You're not flipping in slipping and you're not
- 1:50Speaker 1: going in by the house for a hundred thousand and
- 1:53Speaker 1: then tearing hous and walls and no. But I help
- 1:55Speaker 1: people do that. Okay, we help people do that. So
- 1:58Speaker 1: we definitely particularly literally in the area in the around
- 2:03Speaker 1: the Mercedes Benz Stadium, that's a hot area for people
- 2:06Speaker 1: to go in and fix something and flip it and
- 2:08Speaker 1: try to flip it. And so so what that means
- 2:10Speaker 1: that they were watching enough television means you buy the
- 2:13Speaker 1: home at this rate and do do you? They do
- 2:15Speaker 1: fix it up? Right? They fix it up and the
- 2:17Speaker 1: purpose of fixing it up under a certain fee so
- 2:20Speaker 1: they can sell it for some type of profit exactly,
- 2:23Speaker 1: and that you'll do it. But you know clients. I
- 2:25Speaker 1: know clients. I have clients that do that. So I'll
- 2:27Speaker 1: take them out to preview the property and they will
- 2:31Speaker 1: decide whether or not they want to purchase that property,
- 2:33Speaker 1: and they know what the budget is of what they
- 2:35Speaker 1: wanted are wanting to add into that property. And then
- 2:38Speaker 1: they purchase the property and go in and fix it
- 2:42Speaker 1: and they either most of the time they lease it
- 2:45Speaker 1: out or sometimes they sell it. Now here's isn't it?
- 2:49Speaker 1: You said Florida? You said Georgia and Texas. Correct. Why
- 2:52Speaker 1: are three locations for your company? Well, um, we are
- 2:56Speaker 1: a global company. And the three locations because because I
- 2:59Speaker 1: lived Texas, that's where I started, and we moved around
- 3:03Speaker 1: a bit. So I started, I moved to Atlanta, and
- 3:08Speaker 1: you know, so I needed to to have a license
- 3:10Speaker 1: here as well, So I kept Texas and then and
- 3:14Speaker 1: then it's also a place where a lot of people
- 3:17Speaker 1: who are athletes get traded to, so it's easier for
- 3:21Speaker 1: me to be licensed in those states. Plus I know
- 3:23Speaker 1: the layer of the land, right, and I know Texas
- 3:27Speaker 1: is a is a no tax state. Georgia is a
- 3:29Speaker 1: tax state. Florida is a no tax state. Correct. Correct. However,
- 3:34Speaker 1: in Texas the property taxes extremely um inflated. So you
- 3:40Speaker 1: may not have other taxes, but that property tax will
- 3:43Speaker 1: get you and that does not go away. And that's
- 3:45Speaker 1: the thing we let people know that the property tax,
- 3:47Speaker 1: you know, everything else, even the mortgage will go away,
- 3:49Speaker 1: but the property tax does not. Okay, So, so so
- 3:53Speaker 1: talk about walkers through your business because you have different layers.
- 3:56Speaker 1: So I'm not going to do a disservice in nect
- 3:58Speaker 1: like you do just one thing, because you have a
- 4:00Speaker 1: n tierre part of your business as well. So we're
- 4:03Speaker 1: talking about realty. Be a realtor or broker. You're broker, right, Okay? Cool?
- 4:09Speaker 1: So talk about how do you do your conduct your
- 4:12Speaker 1: business in three different states? Well, um, I have a
- 4:15Speaker 1: lot of frequent flyer mills. Um, So I probably can't
- 4:21Speaker 1: be too uh. But one of one of the ways
- 4:24Speaker 1: that we do our business is that we um we
- 4:28Speaker 1: are have a concert or service that if you were
- 4:30Speaker 1: buying a house uh anywhere in the world, we would
- 4:33Speaker 1: go and preview that house for you and and narrow
- 4:36Speaker 1: down to three to five properties and when you are
- 4:39Speaker 1: ready to maybe go to where it is, it could
- 4:42Speaker 1: be in Russia, it could be here in the United States,
- 4:46Speaker 1: we would meet you there. Russia. Yeah, in Russia. Yeah,
- 4:50Speaker 1: I have clients in Russia. They mainly buy a lot
- 4:53Speaker 1: in Miami. So but yeah, you can come to Russia,
- 4:56Speaker 1: we could go to China, we could go anywhere in
- 4:58Speaker 1: the world, and um we are. We have a global
- 5:02Speaker 1: couple of Russian trips knock right there. Yeah, I don't
- 5:05Speaker 1: have a lot of those because I have two teenagers,
- 5:08Speaker 1: so that that that cuts down a lot of we're talking.
- 5:11Speaker 1: That's how we met them. Just a little backstories that
- 5:14Speaker 1: we went to orientation together the National Minority Supplies Development
- 5:18Speaker 1: councilor m b E. And I know why I well,
- 5:22Speaker 1: I'm trying to uh. First of all, I wanted my company,
- 5:24Speaker 1: which is third fifteen meeting. You can go to media
- 5:27Speaker 1: dot com and you can see I do talent management
- 5:31Speaker 1: that I have, I do live events, I do marketing
- 5:34Speaker 1: and branding. So I'm trying to find out and cree
- 5:37Speaker 1: relationships within the industry nationally and especially in Georgia, telling
- 5:42Speaker 1: people what I do and so what what what? What
- 5:46Speaker 1: was your purpose of joining the council? My purpose was
- 5:50Speaker 1: to be able to meet people like you, uh and
- 5:53Speaker 1: people who were serious about their business. Because, as you know,
- 5:56Speaker 1: it takes they don't just let you walk in the door.
- 6:00Speaker 1: It's a long drawn out process and you know, in
- 6:03Speaker 1: a strong vetting process. So when you know when you
- 6:06Speaker 1: walk into a room with the people who actually took
- 6:10Speaker 1: the time to invest in getting that certification that they're
- 6:14Speaker 1: serious about their business, and you know, just to be
- 6:18Speaker 1: able to work and network with with other business owners
- 6:21Speaker 1: like myself, well you know that that's really what this
- 6:23Speaker 1: is all about, because I was a number of our
- 6:25Speaker 1: organizations usually part of is a member of the World
- 6:29Speaker 1: e r C, which the Employee Relocation Council correct and
- 6:33Speaker 1: then you're also a number of the global mobilities, your
- 6:36Speaker 1: global mobility specialists. So when I'm going through your bio,
- 6:40Speaker 1: I'm seeing that you understand being connected and being and
- 6:46Speaker 1: being in these relationships and create an environment. Because quite frankly,
- 6:49Speaker 1: that's why you're on this show right now, because we
- 6:52Speaker 1: went to the same council. Otherwise you wouldn't be on
- 6:54Speaker 1: this show. So this is extending your brand outside of
- 6:57Speaker 1: what you would normally do comfortably. Yes, absolutely, absolutely, and
- 7:03Speaker 1: that's what this is all about. This may lead to
- 7:05Speaker 1: something nails, it may not, but it's still brand development.
- 7:09Speaker 1: It's brand exposure, and that's what it's all about with
- 7:12Speaker 1: your brand. How long have you been in this type
- 7:13Speaker 1: of business. I've been in this business for twenty years.
- 7:16Speaker 1: And it takes a long time to build a real
- 7:18Speaker 1: estate business, particularly because in real estate people see you
- 7:22Speaker 1: as competition and so there's not a lot of people
- 7:25Speaker 1: who will kind of reach out across the aisles to
- 7:28Speaker 1: help you, and you kind of have to. You say,
- 7:31Speaker 1: you don't listen to other people's stories because it's not yours,
- 7:34Speaker 1: and that's very true. However, you know, sometimes you don't
- 7:38Speaker 1: see a lot of that in real estate because they
- 7:41Speaker 1: just don't do it. You know, they like, um, you know,
- 7:44Speaker 1: like no, you know this is got that to you
- 7:47Speaker 1: out there? How do you get your hustle on? I've
- 7:49Speaker 1: knowing that you have no mentors. Yeah, well actually I do. Okay.
- 7:55Speaker 1: One of my mentors is one who I've absolutely never met,
- 7:59Speaker 1: and Nest Tyler here I read a lot. I read
- 8:01Speaker 1: all of his things and you know how he was successful,
- 8:03Speaker 1: and it's certainly different because we're two different things. But
- 8:07Speaker 1: you know what I like most is that he says,
- 8:09Speaker 1: you know, whatever you're gonna do, just step out and
- 8:11Speaker 1: and and do it. You know, if you're gonna start,
- 8:14Speaker 1: you know, walking or exercising, if you go out for
- 8:16Speaker 1: five minutes, is to start and come back. So and
- 8:18Speaker 1: I've actually done that because you know, I was like, yes,
- 8:23Speaker 1: and now I'm up to ten miles. Yeah, so I
- 8:27Speaker 1: started out small. Uh. My other mentor is Orlando Lynch
- 8:31Speaker 1: at Atlanta Peach Movers, and he's always available to answer
- 8:35Speaker 1: questions and help me out and text me back when
- 8:37Speaker 1: I have a problem, whether it be with staff or
- 8:41Speaker 1: the running up the business. And and it's kind of
- 8:43Speaker 1: related to what we do because you know, he's moving
- 8:47Speaker 1: people and and and that's what we're doing. We're moving
- 8:50Speaker 1: people as well, and so that's really interesting. So so basically,
- 8:53Speaker 1: by I guess that's what I'm doing. And I know
- 8:56Speaker 1: that's what I'm doing money making conversation because that's why
- 8:59Speaker 1: I start at this. Should just have your story. Your
- 9:02Speaker 1: story is compelling, its stories relatable, and people need to
- 9:06Speaker 1: hear your story. And so as as we as we
- 9:08Speaker 1: write down this information that you've given us, what is
- 9:11Speaker 1: your biggest takeaway? Give a gift of information to individuals
- 9:15Speaker 1: who who are listening to you right now because you
- 9:18Speaker 1: because you survived that little a little dip. Yes, I
- 9:21Speaker 1: did housing that the President Obama had to pull us
- 9:25Speaker 1: out of. So being licensed in three states was it
- 9:31Speaker 1: wasn't a great thing as well because in Texas we
- 9:33Speaker 1: didn't uh the market didn't take such a known statin
- 9:37Speaker 1: as it did here. Uh it did in my analgy
- 9:40Speaker 1: in Florida. Yeah, Georgia and Florida took a hard hit
- 9:44Speaker 1: because the real estate market. Uh there, I imagine that
- 9:50Speaker 1: there's there's more people that moved into the Georgia area
- 9:55Speaker 1: and and they were not that they owned more property
- 9:59Speaker 1: and they add a lot less um equity in the
- 10:04Speaker 1: in the in the in the properties. And so when
- 10:06Speaker 1: when they when they took a nose dive and they
- 10:08Speaker 1: had to leave it, it just plummeted. So that you know.
- 10:12Speaker 1: That's one of the main reasons. Um So let me
- 10:16Speaker 1: ask you this, because because you deal with all types,
- 10:21Speaker 1: you know, but you didn't start going to China, you
- 10:23Speaker 1: didn't start going to Russia, you didn't start dealing with athletes.
- 10:27Speaker 1: It was just you and you had to step out.
- 10:29Speaker 1: You had to like figure out who you who you
- 10:32Speaker 1: are and why you're doing this. Can you tell me
- 10:35Speaker 1: some of those steps? Well, because because like I always
- 10:37Speaker 1: tell people, when you're not doing something normal, then people
- 10:40Speaker 1: will question you. People will go that don't make any sense,
- 10:44Speaker 1: right because you because and sometimes you don't know because
- 10:46Speaker 1: you can't you know when you know. It's just like
- 10:48Speaker 1: I'm an entertainment I can't tell you all the time
- 10:50Speaker 1: how I'm getting paid, and that confuses people. And also
- 10:54Speaker 1: and I tell people that I do what's about eight
- 10:56Speaker 1: hour day, and they're go, I first of all, I
- 10:59Speaker 1: got try to tell because because it leads to more questions.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And so because so is the world you live in
- 11:07Speaker 1: a world a lonely world or world is engaged with
- 11:11Speaker 1: communicating with a lot of people all the time. Yeah,
- 11:14Speaker 1: it's it's a very lonely world when it comes to
- 11:16Speaker 1: being a business owner. But being engaged with people and
- 11:21Speaker 1: uh making them, um, helping them to find what they
- 11:26Speaker 1: need in terms of a home. So before I did this,
- 11:30Speaker 1: I was a hospital chaplain and and I had great
- 11:33Speaker 1: I have great passion for hospital chaplaincy. And one of
- 11:37Speaker 1: the things that, um, I couldn't keep a schedule. That
- 11:41Speaker 1: was the main thing. So I had two sons, I
- 11:43Speaker 1: can't keep a schedule, what do I do? I don't
- 11:46Speaker 1: want to stay at home. So I started looking at
- 11:49Speaker 1: real estate and I had a passion for that as well.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Also my neighbor's passion for real estate. What what is that?
- 11:56Speaker 1: You know? Like I understand Like I was a stand
- 11:58Speaker 1: up comedian and I was that was going to stage
- 12:00Speaker 1: telling jokes and all that stuff, and I wanted to
- 12:03Speaker 1: be an actor. Couldn't sing that I can, like it
- 12:07Speaker 1: look good trying. So so we said passion for real estate.
- 12:13Speaker 1: A passion for real estate is is like all I
- 12:16Speaker 1: thought about with structures, Uh, the anatomy of a house,
- 12:19Speaker 1: what it looks like, everything about it. So when when
- 12:22Speaker 1: you and I look at a house, we're going to
- 12:24Speaker 1: see something totally different. I'm gonna see, you know, how
- 12:27Speaker 1: it was made and constructed. Uh what maybe what century
- 12:31Speaker 1: that some of the columns, or if there were some
- 12:33Speaker 1: what they came out of, you know, all of the
- 12:35Speaker 1: different things that make up a house. And you know,
- 12:39Speaker 1: what is it going to be like if a family
- 12:42Speaker 1: moves into this house? And when when? When what people
- 12:45Speaker 1: walk into a house with me and they say, yeah,
- 12:47Speaker 1: you know I can, I can make this work, then
- 12:49Speaker 1: I'm not going to sell in that house. I want
- 12:51Speaker 1: to hear. Oh, now this is it because I know
- 12:55Speaker 1: that you have to live there for you know, many
- 12:58Speaker 1: years or whatever, and you don't want that number becomes
- 13:02Speaker 1: on speed out exactly. Some money ain't good money, it's right, yeah, yeah,
- 13:08Speaker 1: So you know, if I know it is close to
- 13:10Speaker 1: a landfield or something like that, we we we let
- 13:13Speaker 1: you know, you know, and we document I've been documented
- 13:16Speaker 1: all this. You knew all of this that we let
- 13:18Speaker 1: you know what it was gonna be living in a
- 13:21Speaker 1: society where they want to sue. Oh. Absolutely. We're talking
- 13:24Speaker 1: to Sylvia Weddington. Weddington Realty that's located in Georgia, Texas
- 13:30Speaker 1: and Florida, and we're gonna be right back cause I
- 13:32Speaker 1: want to talk about your balance. Like there's two somethings
- 13:34Speaker 1: who got that swimming because I have a daughter who
- 13:36Speaker 1: played tennis, so I know that's an expensive it is.
- 13:41Speaker 1: And you got to to be right back more with Sylvia,
- 13:45Speaker 1: and thank you for coming doing doing I appreciate it.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Thank you, And we're gonna talk about won't get the
- 13:49Speaker 1: word at the phone numbers and website. We gotta promote
- 13:53Speaker 1: your brand. That's why you came on. That's what money
- 13:54Speaker 1: making conversations all about. We've been right back with Silvis. Hi.
- 13:59Speaker 1: This is Sean m Only you're listening to myny making conversations.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I think I've developed a long term friend there. You
- 14:05Speaker 1: certainly have yeah, special bridge the lord on that house.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Believe it or not. I've actually married people in homes
- 14:16Speaker 1: that they've bought, you know, and and and and done
- 14:20Speaker 1: baby dedications and baptism. You posted on social media. I don't.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I don't put it out there, but it is a
- 14:25Speaker 1: point of difference. I had one client that called and
- 14:27Speaker 1: she was trying to get married and she couldn't find
- 14:29Speaker 1: it just as of a piece, and I'm like, well, wait,
- 14:31Speaker 1: do you have your license? Yeah, when do you want
- 14:33Speaker 1: to get married? I'll be there and I performed the
- 14:35Speaker 1: wedding and she posted it on social media didn't because
- 14:39Speaker 1: what role does social media playing your brand? Gosh, it
- 14:43Speaker 1: plays every role in my brand. You know, people get
- 14:46Speaker 1: to see who I am, what we're doing, um, and
- 14:50Speaker 1: what offers we have, what what real estate looks like? Uh,
- 14:54Speaker 1: how to purchase a home because it's there's a lot
- 14:57Speaker 1: of different steps and a lot of moving pieces. So uh,
- 15:01Speaker 1: it's you know, it's educational for people who want to
- 15:04Speaker 1: who particular people who have never bought a home. Yeah,
- 15:07Speaker 1: before I know, I started a little bit of this
- 15:09Speaker 1: conversation got off of we was talking about two thousand
- 15:11Speaker 1: and eight when the housing crisis head and I was
- 15:14Speaker 1: talking about Georgia in Texas and how Georgia Georgia and Florida,
- 15:18Speaker 1: or Georgia Florida and Texas and Georgia and Florida hit
- 15:20Speaker 1: a lot worse than Texas. But how did you survive
- 15:23Speaker 1: that moment? You know, because I'm sure a lot I'm
- 15:25Speaker 1: sure that's when a lot of doubts. As you've chosen
- 15:28Speaker 1: the right profession, how can you how can get around that?
- 15:30Speaker 1: But you said what helped you was you were in
- 15:33Speaker 1: three different states. Yeah, it helped me to be in
- 15:36Speaker 1: three different states, and it also helped that I didn't
- 15:40Speaker 1: really have to depend on real estate h and I
- 15:44Speaker 1: still worked as a chaplain part time. And when you
- 15:47Speaker 1: get into real estate, one of the things that you
- 15:50Speaker 1: have to do before you really can do it full
- 15:52Speaker 1: time is to be able to work until you can
- 15:55Speaker 1: get to that point. And that's and that's the hard part,
- 15:59Speaker 1: because it is it is a great investment as well,
- 16:03Speaker 1: it's not it's not um cheap to be a real
- 16:06Speaker 1: estate agent. They have a lot of fees, and a
- 16:09Speaker 1: broker has even more fees, right right, right. So, so
- 16:11Speaker 1: with that being said, because you've you've you we've talked
- 16:14Speaker 1: about that balanced life. You know, I always tell people
- 16:17Speaker 1: my show that from I didn't have a balanced life.
- 16:22Speaker 1: You know, building and working with Steve is a part
- 16:24Speaker 1: that Steve Harvey as a business partner, traveling all over
- 16:28Speaker 1: this country doing all these different television shows. You know,
- 16:31Speaker 1: My relationship with my my daughter was fantastic. But she
- 16:35Speaker 1: was a tennis she's a tennis protege as they would say,
- 16:38Speaker 1: you know, phenome as they say, and and so and
- 16:43Speaker 1: in fact, if you come to my house, she has
- 16:45Speaker 1: a little tennis I built tennis house, the tennis court, everything,
- 16:49Speaker 1: and so because that's whatever's a dream. And I felt
- 16:52Speaker 1: that I was not gonna get in the way of saying, hey,
- 16:55Speaker 1: you know, I don't know if you're gonna make it,
- 16:57Speaker 1: but I would tell you when I when I started
- 16:59Speaker 1: man geen uh, when I stop managing Steve Harvey in
- 17:02Speaker 1: s I got to go on the road with her
- 17:05Speaker 1: and H and I got to see women who were
- 17:09Speaker 1: eight thirty, and I didn't like what I saw because
- 17:13Speaker 1: I was, what's you know, what's that option? You know,
- 17:15Speaker 1: what if you don't make it? Because there's no guarantees,
- 17:17Speaker 1: And so I can get what would her life be
- 17:20Speaker 1: because she had no social life, you know, because she
- 17:22Speaker 1: was always out on the court, but she didn't go
- 17:24Speaker 1: to prom, you know, and so she was or playing tennis.
- 17:28Speaker 1: And so you have a similar situation that's extreme because
- 17:32Speaker 1: you because you have sons. I mean, at least they
- 17:34Speaker 1: get to talk to each other, like the William sisters
- 17:36Speaker 1: that the William sisters to help them kind of like
- 17:40Speaker 1: walk through the path and bounce things off each other.
- 17:43Speaker 1: But swimming, Now, when you say the words swimming, people
- 17:46Speaker 1: would rather go, oh, they're just diving in the water,
- 17:48Speaker 1: putting on this a little lotle thing that should be
- 17:49Speaker 1: a cheap spore. No, they are like the the they have.
- 17:57Speaker 1: They have a suit call a fascin and it's only
- 17:59Speaker 1: good for about five or ten swims faskin and those
- 18:03Speaker 1: are five hundred dollars, so they only put those on
- 18:07Speaker 1: for major races, and not to mention the goggles and
- 18:13Speaker 1: the training and yes, so okay, so it's almost comic,
- 18:18Speaker 1: but major races. Now you you see him just walking
- 18:21Speaker 1: out the house with and that's the cheap one, that's
- 18:22Speaker 1: five and so that makes them like I guess slide
- 18:26Speaker 1: the water propels the water a certain way and helps
- 18:30Speaker 1: to constrict the muscles. And so, uh, swimmers who are
- 18:34Speaker 1: competitive swimmers, as my sons are, that's that's what they have.
- 18:38Speaker 1: And what age are they right now? They're at sixteen
- 18:40Speaker 1: and eighteen. They just aged up. But they've been doing
- 18:43Speaker 1: this since they were two years old. So I've been
- 18:45Speaker 1: waking up at four o'clock in the morning since they
- 18:48Speaker 1: were two years old. How did that start? How did
- 18:51Speaker 1: that start? Actually? I wanted them to learn how to swim,
- 18:54Speaker 1: and we moved into a new subdivision and they they
- 18:56Speaker 1: had just opened the swimming pool and I took him
- 19:00Speaker 1: down there to learn how to swim, and they and
- 19:02Speaker 1: they did, you know, they did all the other sports
- 19:04Speaker 1: and then they decided that they wanted to swim competitively.
- 19:07Speaker 1: So it's swimming. It's very early, so they run in
- 19:11Speaker 1: the water, they wake up, you know, and they are
- 19:14Speaker 1: very dedicated. Um, they've been training for this for a
- 19:18Speaker 1: long time, since they were two years old. Like I said,
- 19:20Speaker 1: they've been in the water. So we get up. They
- 19:22Speaker 1: have to be in in the pool by five every
- 19:26Speaker 1: morning before school, and then after school they go back
- 19:30Speaker 1: at four fifteen in the evening and they swim until
- 19:33Speaker 1: about that's right, you know, that's what I'm saying that.
- 19:37Speaker 1: So it's so it's such a blessing that they have
- 19:39Speaker 1: each other because that's a rare isolated life. You know,
- 19:43Speaker 1: there's no time to really mingle, right, and it it
- 19:46Speaker 1: well that their coaches is better at helping them mingle, uh,
- 19:51Speaker 1: the coach that they have now. But with swimmers, they
- 19:53Speaker 1: never get to mingle because they're actually in the water.
- 19:55Speaker 1: So they don't really get to tennis. Yeah, you know,
- 19:58Speaker 1: unless you're playing doubles, you know, intendance, you might talk
- 20:02Speaker 1: to somebody, but basically it's an individual sport and so
- 20:06Speaker 1: so that's what I really, uh, I really feel good
- 20:10Speaker 1: about your situation because at least they get to understake,
- 20:12Speaker 1: get to bounce off anything that they want to they're
- 20:15Speaker 1: confused about, they have to run to you. They're they're
- 20:18Speaker 1: they're each other's best friends. Well not always they're brothers.
- 20:22Speaker 1: But you know, you know, I can't I'm gonna beat
- 20:25Speaker 1: you and I can't wait to a you know. So
- 20:28Speaker 1: they're you know, they're they're competitive, and especially now they're
- 20:31Speaker 1: in the same competitive group, so you know, now they
- 20:35Speaker 1: want but you know, but that's a good thing because
- 20:36Speaker 1: of the fact that they pushes them, you know, because
- 20:40Speaker 1: I like that, because of the fact that you know,
- 20:42Speaker 1: we know this is not an extreme competitiveness, and it's like, hey,
- 20:46Speaker 1: you beat me today, I don't beat you tomorrow. And
- 20:47Speaker 1: of course it's the younger one who's who's driving to
- 20:50Speaker 1: beat the older one. That sounds like you're at my house.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I have a daughter, she's twenty two now. She said
- 20:59Speaker 1: she blew out her knee when she was nineteen and
- 21:01Speaker 1: uh and so when she looked at me and she said, uh, dad,
- 21:05Speaker 1: I said, what do you want to do? Because I
- 21:07Speaker 1: knew that was about her third serious injury and ship
- 21:09Speaker 1: broken good a shoulder. So I knew at that point,
- 21:13Speaker 1: you know that have their interest, they do it. And
- 21:16Speaker 1: then so I was like, um, and so I I
- 21:19Speaker 1: told him what you wanted world to college. And I
- 21:21Speaker 1: immediately told her, do not worry about the expenses that
- 21:25Speaker 1: you incurred in pursuing a tenant's career, because that that
- 21:28Speaker 1: guilt and that that guilt will pop on them real hard.
- 21:32Speaker 1: You know what they see like the swim bro if
- 21:36Speaker 1: they make a decision to change then and then that
- 21:40Speaker 1: that's when the guilt will come about. And you have
- 21:42Speaker 1: to be really aware of that because of the fact
- 21:44Speaker 1: that they know, they know how much money you're spending.
- 21:46Speaker 1: You might think they don't know, but they're totally all
- 21:49Speaker 1: that information in their heads and they are there there,
- 21:52Speaker 1: there there. They feel they're blessed that is happening for them,
- 21:55Speaker 1: but they also can can be overwhelmed by it. And
- 21:59Speaker 1: so that's when I'm saying this really important. Oh, they
- 22:01Speaker 1: can be overwhelmed by it. And so because of the
- 22:03Speaker 1: fact that they do know, they know how much that
- 22:05Speaker 1: two cars. When it goes bad, they know that mommy
- 22:09Speaker 1: has to go get another one, and they really really
- 22:12Speaker 1: don't want to, but they know that's the only way
- 22:13Speaker 1: they can compete because everything is down to a tenth
- 22:15Speaker 1: of a second that you can win or lose a major,
- 22:19Speaker 1: major swimp meat and things like that. So so with
- 22:22Speaker 1: that being said, what is the future for you, you know,
- 22:25Speaker 1: for your company, for your brain? You know. I start
- 22:28Speaker 1: off with this major introduction about you know, we got
- 22:31Speaker 1: multi lingual, you know, and then you mentioned rushy and
- 22:34Speaker 1: you try to reshine it's not many trips there, but
- 22:36Speaker 1: there are trips. You know. Have Survibe two thousand eight.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I'm in texasm and Jogia in Florida. You know. Yeah,
- 22:43Speaker 1: you know something go bag. You can always pray about it. Yeah, yeah,
- 22:46Speaker 1: Well I take a lot of turnaround trips, so I
- 22:49Speaker 1: may leave at four in the morning and be back
- 22:51Speaker 1: at four in the that's my girl. So my goal
- 22:54Speaker 1: is that my children see me when they wake up
- 22:57Speaker 1: and I make their breakfast, and they see me when
- 23:00Speaker 1: they get home because I will have made their dinner.
- 23:02Speaker 1: So I put I use a lot of crop pots
- 23:05Speaker 1: and things like that, and so dinner's ready. So when
- 23:07Speaker 1: they get home, I'm there, you know, and I'm serving dinner.
- 23:10Speaker 1: It's a very rare ocation that I'm not there, and
- 23:12Speaker 1: I'm certainly at every every swim event. I don't miss
- 23:15Speaker 1: any who. Now that's that's the family, that's that's work.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Any charity, any foundations that you're tied to. Yes, I
- 23:23Speaker 1: have a foundation. It is called Ella's Heart Foundation. It
- 23:27Speaker 1: was a foundation that started started in memory of my mom.
- 23:31Speaker 1: She uh as a young child, had rheumatic fever and
- 23:35Speaker 1: at five o'clocks, I mean at five years old, she
- 23:39Speaker 1: became a cook for the family because she couldn't go
- 23:43Speaker 1: out and work like everybody else, like they had a
- 23:46Speaker 1: feel so they had to work the field. But anyway,
- 23:50Speaker 1: as her life progressed, she had heart problems and she
- 23:53Speaker 1: had from Late Charles Louisiana, Louisiana. That sounds very well,
- 23:59Speaker 1: Apple looses Louisiana. Are're gonna go back a little bit.
- 24:02Speaker 1: That's where she was. Everything is right up north of Lafaena.
- 24:09Speaker 1: You gotta go to gotta go, gotta can't get through
- 24:11Speaker 1: Houston unless you go to Lake Charles. That's exactly Golden Triangle.
- 24:15Speaker 1: When you go through Vida and be poured off right,
- 24:21Speaker 1: keep going, Okay, you don't want to have gas problems
- 24:29Speaker 1: in no, no, not it still has their reputation for
- 24:32Speaker 1: a very racist area right in the in the state
- 24:36Speaker 1: of Texas, whether whether it's true or not. Within the
- 24:40Speaker 1: black community, we are aware that that's not the neighborhood
- 24:43Speaker 1: that you want to hang out in, yeah and seek help,
- 24:46Speaker 1: right exactly, it might not be friendly help that you're
- 24:48Speaker 1: gonna get. And so so we always drove. We drove
- 24:52Speaker 1: the speed limit and we got through Vida all the time.
- 24:55Speaker 1: But that that that life, you know, so you Louis,
- 24:58Speaker 1: so you're Louisa in background Texas, that that that gives
- 25:01Speaker 1: you a sense of accomplishment with your life, I'm assuming yeah,
- 25:05Speaker 1: it does, especially with the foundation and that we were
- 25:09Speaker 1: talking about, and because I wanted to do something for
- 25:12Speaker 1: my mom. We were best friends and she loved children
- 25:16Speaker 1: and UM and loved UM. UH express education a lot,
- 25:22Speaker 1: especially with all of us. So the foundation supports UH
- 25:27Speaker 1: scholarship for high school students and scholarship for students who
- 25:30Speaker 1: would like to go to zoos and arboretums or you
- 25:33Speaker 1: know the you know, the fine arts. So that's what
- 25:37Speaker 1: the Ellis Heart Foundation is about. So we're partner with
- 25:40Speaker 1: the American Heart Association and go Red for Women. So
- 25:44Speaker 1: tell us how to reach you. That's that's the part
- 25:47Speaker 1: of why we came on the show. Let everybody know
- 25:50Speaker 1: to build those that revenue, the revenue the well. The
- 25:54Speaker 1: our slogan at Weddington realtis married the home you love,
- 25:57Speaker 1: So we help you marry the home you love. And
- 25:59Speaker 1: we're located in Rosswell. I mean, I'm sorry on Rosswell
- 26:04Speaker 1: Road at thirty twenty Rosswell Road, and the office phone
- 26:07Speaker 1: number is six seven eight eight one nine three nine
- 26:10Speaker 1: o two. Again that number is six seven eight eight
- 26:13Speaker 1: one nine three nine o two. And I give you
- 26:16Speaker 1: my personal phone number and that's stuff four oh four
- 26:19Speaker 1: nine seven seven nine to two one. So now now
- 26:23Speaker 1: they need to talk to me and they can. You
- 26:25Speaker 1: can call me. Yeah, you have my personal phone number,
- 26:29Speaker 1: give me a phone call, and yeah, this is how
- 26:32Speaker 1: it works. I needs to talk to my customer. That's
- 26:35Speaker 1: right number all the time. And uh if if people
- 26:42Speaker 1: hear that number and they called me, pretty much, you're
- 26:45Speaker 1: gonna know in a few seconds whether you should be
- 26:46Speaker 1: talking to me anyway exactly. So I'll tell you you're
- 26:50Speaker 1: not running me off my number exactly. That's how I
- 26:52Speaker 1: feel too, not running me off. Yeah, you master the
- 26:57Speaker 1: auto Okay, why you call it? And I asked what
- 27:00Speaker 1: that means? What you can't do to me? Silver you
- 27:01Speaker 1: can't call me and say, wish out what you're doing.
- 27:05Speaker 1: I know what I'm doing. Why are you calling me?
- 27:08Speaker 1: I know how to say that in the non rude manner,
- 27:11Speaker 1: but you will know don't be calling me. And I
- 27:14Speaker 1: really had my show got started, I said, I should
- 27:17Speaker 1: I have. I don't have time for no non money
- 27:19Speaker 1: making conversations, so much money making conversations. I want to
- 27:24Speaker 1: thank you for coming on my show. I know that,
- 27:26Speaker 1: Uh you know this is a place whenever you want
- 27:28Speaker 1: to promote. Do you do any do you do any
- 27:31Speaker 1: charity events for the foundation? Yes? I do. I actually
- 27:36Speaker 1: with the American in conjunction with the American Hardest. Well,
- 27:40Speaker 1: please let me know in the future if you need
- 27:41Speaker 1: to come on the show, bring them on the show
- 27:43Speaker 1: to promote it. Because the fact that that's what money
- 27:45Speaker 1: making conversation. There's developing the relationship and allow you to
- 27:49Speaker 1: know that you have a place to come to promote
- 27:50Speaker 1: your bread, to promote your causes and tell people your
- 27:53Speaker 1: side of the story is relatable. It's fun and I
- 27:56Speaker 1: wish you so much success and thank you. Thank you.
