- 0:01Speaker 1: Day one of the Republican Convention. In the books, Donald
- 0:06Speaker 1: Trump makes his first public appearance in see assassination attempt
- 0:12Speaker 1: and the first time we've seen a picture with JD.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Vance standing next to the president as he is the
- 0:19Speaker 1: vice presidential nominee. What we saw yesterday was I think
- 0:25Speaker 1: a little bit different Donald Trump. I think that's okay.
- 0:32Speaker 1: There have been a lot of people saying Donald Trump
- 0:34Speaker 1: looked different night one as he was standing there with
- 0:37Speaker 1: Make America Great underneath them Byron Donald's sitting to his
- 0:43Speaker 1: left if you're looking at the President, Tucker Carlson as well,
- 0:47Speaker 1: sitting to his left. To the right JD. Vance to
- 0:51Speaker 1: the right of him was the speaker Mike Johnson at
- 0:55Speaker 1: the convention. When Donald Trump made his way into the arena,
- 0:58Speaker 1: it was also a little bit different. It was not
- 1:04Speaker 1: as loud as you traditionally hear at a Trump rally.
- 1:08Speaker 1: It was a very somber but I also think serious
- 1:14Speaker 1: moment for Donald Trump. He understands, I think better than anybody,
- 1:19Speaker 1: as we saw his ear, his right ear bandaged, that
- 1:24Speaker 1: he is an individual who could easily have died. He
- 1:29Speaker 1: is someone whose life could have been taken from him
- 1:32Speaker 1: because of this would be assassin and he was shot.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I want to say, if you have ever been in
- 1:39Speaker 1: a shooting, you understand what I'm about to say. Many
- 1:44Speaker 1: of you know I've been in a shooting. I had
- 1:45Speaker 1: to use a gun to save my life and had
- 1:47Speaker 1: two different people pointing a gun at me, one put
- 1:49Speaker 1: to the side of my head. And I can tell
- 1:53Speaker 1: you that you are different after that, no matter how
- 1:59Speaker 1: much you don't want to be different. And what I
- 2:02Speaker 1: mean by that is your perspective changes. There's anger that
- 2:06Speaker 1: comes in afterwards. We saw instantly Donald Trump be angry
- 2:10Speaker 1: when he put his fist up and yelled fight. There's
- 2:13Speaker 1: then this realization that you could have died. There is
- 2:18Speaker 1: then a significant change and shift to concern that it
- 2:25Speaker 1: could happen again. I have a massive amount of compassion
- 2:30Speaker 1: for our men and women in uniform that have dealt
- 2:32Speaker 1: with PTSD. I didn't understand it till after my shooting,
- 2:36Speaker 1: and I cannot imagine what men and women that go
- 2:39Speaker 1: through that every single day in Afghanistan, Iraq or anywhere
- 2:42Speaker 1: else around the world where they're serving, what they dealt
- 2:45Speaker 1: with after nine to eleven, for example, when you're there
- 2:48Speaker 1: for a couple of years on multiple tours of duties,
- 2:51Speaker 1: and you're being shot at, and you're shooting, and you're
- 2:53Speaker 1: seeing your friends get blown up, and you're seeing your
- 2:55Speaker 1: friends get shot, and you're seeing that life can end
- 3:01Speaker 1: not at a time in or a moment of your choosing,
- 3:04Speaker 1: because of evil. Donald Trump seemed different. And I don't
- 3:10Speaker 1: think that's a bad thing. But I'm sure Donald Trump
- 3:12Speaker 1: is dealing with the fact that and this is that
- 3:14Speaker 1: they call it survivor's guilt for reason, Why am I
- 3:18Speaker 1: still alive? And why did an innocent man who was
- 3:21Speaker 1: just there to support me die? Why are there others
- 3:23Speaker 1: that are fighting and are going to have lifelong changes
- 3:27Speaker 1: in their recovery in the hospital still who were shot?
- 3:33Speaker 1: You think about that rally, and Donald Trump is going
- 3:36Speaker 1: to be thinking about that rally. It is going to
- 3:39Speaker 1: be on his mind because he knows that there was
- 3:42Speaker 1: a kind, loving father who saved his daughter and mother's
- 3:46Speaker 1: life and it cost him his own as he was
- 3:48Speaker 1: shielding them from the bullets. And I'm sure there's moments
- 3:51Speaker 1: where he's gonna be thinking, did I have to do
- 3:53Speaker 1: that rally? Should we have done it indoors? Should we
- 3:55Speaker 1: have done it differently? Should we have changed the way
- 3:57Speaker 1: we did things. That is what any person with a
- 4:01Speaker 1: soul is going to be thinking in that moment. And
- 4:05Speaker 1: not only is the president having to deal with that,
- 4:09Speaker 1: but then there's that concern of is it gonna happen again.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I think you also realize, and this has got to
- 4:16Speaker 1: be the hardest part for President Trump. There is a
- 4:19Speaker 1: confidence with a secret service around you. I've been inside
- 4:25Speaker 1: the bubble in my career several times, many times when
- 4:30Speaker 1: I was a saga on the Bush campaign, and I've
- 4:34Speaker 1: been on stage with the President. It's a different level
- 4:36Speaker 1: of Secret Service protection. They are when you're sitting duck
- 4:40Speaker 1: up there, but there was a feeling of invincibility that
- 4:45Speaker 1: made you just focus on what your job was because
- 4:47Speaker 1: you're like, I got them right, Like they're around us,
- 4:51Speaker 1: We're gonna be fine. I'm not thinking about snipers. I'm
- 4:56Speaker 1: not thinking about a lone wolf. I'm not thinking about
- 4:58Speaker 1: a shooter in the crowd. And you go up on
- 5:01Speaker 1: that stage and you do your job well. I mean,
- 5:06Speaker 1: you look at the president last night at the convention,
- 5:10Speaker 1: and I mean this, he is a little bit different
- 5:13Speaker 1: and that's okay, but I wanted to paint that picture
- 5:17Speaker 1: so you understand because while all of this is going on,
- 5:21Speaker 1: and when I was involved in my shooting, I think
- 5:23Speaker 1: the most frustrating part for me afterwards was the fact
- 5:28Speaker 1: that I couldn't control my heart rate when I would
- 5:38Speaker 1: be doing things like pumping gas and a car would
- 5:41Speaker 1: pull up on the other side of that gas pump
- 5:44Speaker 1: and I couldn't see that person, and there's that concern,
- 5:46Speaker 1: is that person about to come around the corner and
- 5:48Speaker 1: pull a gun on me, or shoot at me, or
- 5:51Speaker 1: try to rob me or car jack me. And it
- 5:55Speaker 1: wasn't because paranoid. It was a involuntary thing that would happen.
- 6:00Speaker 1: It took months and months for that to go away
- 6:03Speaker 1: until I felt quote normal again. I the way that
- 6:08Speaker 1: Donald Trump is dealing with this publicly is unbelievable. But
- 6:13Speaker 1: I also want to make it clear we need to
- 6:15Speaker 1: make sure we pray for this man. We need to
- 6:17Speaker 1: pray for him and his recovery. One tenth of an
- 6:21Speaker 1: inch that bullet moves, he doesn't move his head, and
- 6:23Speaker 1: those are the things he's thinking about. To look at
- 6:26Speaker 1: that prompter again for the statistics, and he would not
- 6:30Speaker 1: be with us. And while you're having to deal with
- 6:34Speaker 1: all that and look there's also the fallout that comes
- 6:36Speaker 1: after this with your family. Everybody wants to talk about
- 6:40Speaker 1: this shooting that sees you. Everybody's walking up to you
- 6:43Speaker 1: giving you a hug, which is sincere, and saying we're
- 6:47Speaker 1: so glad you're alive. But you keep hearing that's a
- 6:49Speaker 1: different narrative. It's no longer hey, thank you for fighting
- 6:53Speaker 1: for our country. God bless America. It's now we're so
- 6:55Speaker 1: thankful you're alive. That is a different conversation he will
- 6:58Speaker 1: have with every single per and that he comes into
- 7:00Speaker 1: contact with in Milwaukee this week, and it will be
- 7:04Speaker 1: the same thing that has said to him for weeks.
- 7:06Speaker 1: And I would argue through election day that narrative is
- 7:11Speaker 1: not gonna change. But that's a different conversation. I'm glad
- 7:13Speaker 1: you're alive. I'm glad you're okay, I'm glad you're alive.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Continues to go back to it to remind him that
- 7:19Speaker 1: someone tried to kill him. That's a lot to deal
- 7:23Speaker 1: with for any person. If there's anybody that can deal
- 7:26Speaker 1: with it, it's Donald Trump. He clearly is. But then
- 7:29Speaker 1: I want you to think about what's happened since then,
- 7:31Speaker 1: that the bubble around you and the Secret Service, the
- 7:34Speaker 1: protection that you used to have that made you feel
- 7:38Speaker 1: confident to be able to go up on that stage.
- 7:39Speaker 1: That is gone right now. I don't care what anybody
- 7:43Speaker 1: says in the back of his head, he's like they
- 7:44Speaker 1: didn't get the last one. They could screw it up again.
- 7:47Speaker 1: That's going to change your demeanor a little bit. And
- 7:51Speaker 1: then you've got to do everything else you're doing right now,
- 7:53Speaker 1: right go to a convention, run a convention, pick a
- 7:55Speaker 1: vice presidential candidate. JD Vance, by the way, put out
- 7:59Speaker 1: an amazing simple tweet. It said, just overwhelmed with gratitude.
- 8:03Speaker 1: What an honor it is to run alongside President Donald J. Trump.
- 8:07Speaker 1: He delivered peace and prosperity once and with your help,
- 8:10Speaker 1: will do it again. Onward to victory. A very very
- 8:13Speaker 1: very very very simple. Okay, a very simple tweet there,
- 8:21Speaker 1: a very important tweet. I'm going to get more of this,
- 8:26Speaker 1: but first let me tell you about my friends over
- 8:28Speaker 1: at Patriot Mobile. For more than ten years now, Patriot
- 8:31Speaker 1: Mobile has been America's only conservative, Christian wireless provider. And
- 8:35Speaker 1: that should matter to you because if you're with Big Mobile,
- 8:38Speaker 1: you're giving big donations to the Democratic Party. Candidates, causes
- 8:43Speaker 1: and organizations are supporting the radical left, including major donations
- 8:48Speaker 1: to Plan Parenthood. That is why Patriot Mobiles started more
- 8:53Speaker 1: than a decade ago by a group of conservatives that
- 8:55Speaker 1: were sick and tired of giving their money to companies
- 8:57Speaker 1: that were fighting against their family value use. Now, switching
- 9:01Speaker 1: your cell phone has never been easier in twenty twenty four.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I just did one recently, and I did it all
- 9:06Speaker 1: over the phone. I got to keep my same cell
- 9:09Speaker 1: phone number. I got to keep my same phone. You
- 9:12Speaker 1: can do that or upgrade to a new phone, but
- 9:14Speaker 1: it's done all over the phone. And you may say, well,
- 9:17Speaker 1: I'm just worried about coverage. I'm happy with that I have. Well,
- 9:20Speaker 1: in twenty twenty four, everybody or everybody is using the
- 9:23Speaker 1: same towers. Now you're going to have the same coverage
- 9:25Speaker 1: that you're used to without supporting the radical lefts agenda.
- 9:29Speaker 1: And then there's the big perk. Every month, Patriot Mobile
- 9:33Speaker 1: takes about five percent of your bill at no additional
- 9:37Speaker 1: costs to you, and they give it back to conservative
- 9:40Speaker 1: causes and organizations that fight for free speech, religious freedom,
- 9:45Speaker 1: the sanctity of life, the Second Amendment, as well as
- 9:48Speaker 1: our military, our veterans, and our first responder heroes. They're
- 9:53Speaker 1: one hundred percent US based customer service team makes switching easy.
- 9:57Speaker 1: So call them and I'm going to get your free
- 9:59Speaker 1: activation when you use the promo code Ben. Just go
- 10:02Speaker 1: to Patriot Mobile dot com slash Ben, Patriot mobile dot
- 10:06Speaker 1: com slash Ben, or call them right now and make
- 10:09Speaker 1: the switch. Nine seven to two Patriot. That's nine seven
- 10:13Speaker 1: to two Patriot, nine seven to two Patriot. All right.
- 10:17Speaker 1: He also tweeted out on the fourteenth, two days ago,
- 10:22Speaker 1: this dude is just built different and posted the true
- 10:25Speaker 1: social post by Donald Trump that said quote, based on
- 10:28Speaker 1: yesterday's terrible events, I was going to delay my trip
- 10:31Speaker 1: to Wisconsin the Republican National Convention by two days, but
- 10:34Speaker 1: have decided that I cannot allow a quote shooter or
- 10:37Speaker 1: potential assassin to force change the scheduling or anything else. Therefore,
- 10:42Speaker 1: I will be leaving for Milwaukee's schedule at three point
- 10:45Speaker 1: thirty pm today. Thank you, Donald J. Trump, and jd
- 10:48Speaker 1: Vance wrote this dude is just built different. He absolutely is.
- 10:54Speaker 1: He is built different. I want to shift for a
- 10:59Speaker 1: moment the converation from what I just described with Donald
- 11:03Speaker 1: Trump personally, and I just still think it's incredible what
- 11:06Speaker 1: this guy's doing right now. He's built differently. I want
- 11:10Speaker 1: to talk about Day two theme at the Republican Convention.
- 11:15Speaker 1: The Day two theme is make America Safe Again. That
- 11:20Speaker 1: means so many different things, by the way. Right now,
- 11:24Speaker 1: it means that we have to focus on the border crisis.
- 11:29Speaker 1: We've got to focus on crime in this country. And
- 11:33Speaker 1: I think there's going to be a lot of praise
- 11:36Speaker 1: for Trump for his resilience after this assassination attempt. Day
- 11:42Speaker 1: two at the Convention has a different meaning than when
- 11:46Speaker 1: they announced last week what the themes of each day
- 11:49Speaker 1: were going to be. No one was thinking that it
- 11:52Speaker 1: was going to revolve or they would have to include
- 11:55Speaker 1: the possibility of an assassination as part of the make
- 11:59Speaker 1: America Safe Again theme. It was gonna be about crime,
- 12:04Speaker 1: it was gonna be about the border, it was gonna
- 12:06Speaker 1: be about now security, and now it's about the idea
- 12:09Speaker 1: that there are people that are trying to kill Donald Trump.
- 12:13Speaker 1: The Republican National Convention is focusing Day two with a
- 12:18Speaker 1: crowded list of events and speakers touching on a broad
- 12:22Speaker 1: range with immigration and crime is going to be featured
- 12:28Speaker 1: in the most prominent way, and Democrats will not do
- 12:31Speaker 1: this at their convention. I do think this is also
- 12:33Speaker 1: a moment where you compare and contrast the two. You look, now,
- 12:41Speaker 1: Trump is formerly the GOP nominee. It's official. That happened
- 12:45Speaker 1: day one. You've got his VP candidate, that's official. Jd Vance.
- 12:52Speaker 1: He's there shaking hands with Tucker Carlson Byron Donald's members
- 12:55Speaker 1: of his family, Don Junior, who looked proudly at their father,
- 12:59Speaker 1: their friend who nearly lost his life two days ago,
- 13:02Speaker 1: Like that's big. There are other attendees that are there
- 13:07Speaker 1: that I'm sure are like, Okay, we gotta admit it. Now,
- 13:09Speaker 1: this guy's built differently. What do I mean by that?
- 13:12Speaker 1: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, He was booed when he
- 13:18Speaker 1: made his appearance. I understand why people feel like he's
- 13:21Speaker 1: not done enough. McConnell, by the way, who blamed Trump
- 13:25Speaker 1: for January sixth riot in February twenty twenty one, stating
- 13:29Speaker 1: the former president was practically and morally responsible for provoking
- 13:33Speaker 1: the events of that day. And you want to know
- 13:35Speaker 1: why the guy got booed. McConnell booed at the convention.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I am glad that he got booed at the convention.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I think it stands. I'm glad he got booed because
- 13:47Speaker 1: it's proof that people love Trump and can't stand the
- 13:50Speaker 1: bureaucrats that run Washington. There is a very clear divide
- 13:57Speaker 1: in our party right now. You're either with the Mitch
- 13:59Speaker 1: mcaon Donald's of the world that cow down to the Democrats,
- 14:02Speaker 1: don't hold them accountable, allowed them to use law fair
- 14:05Speaker 1: to get rid of their candidates and have gotten us
- 14:08Speaker 1: to the point where we had this assassination attempt. Or
- 14:11Speaker 1: you're on the side with Donald Trump and hardcore conservatives
- 14:15Speaker 1: that understand that there is evil in the world. AP
- 14:20Speaker 1: put it this way, hosts of speakers will applaud the
- 14:23Speaker 1: former president's strength and resilience after the shooting at isrally
- 14:27Speaker 1: in Pennsylvania day two, and will remind the country that
- 14:30Speaker 1: safety and security are a major, major issue. Nicky Hayley, right,
- 14:38Speaker 1: we're being told is going to be a part of this.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I'm fine with that. Let's go. I don't think she's
- 14:44Speaker 1: going to get some massive welcome. By the way, want
- 14:46Speaker 1: to make that very very clear as well. Let's talk
- 14:49Speaker 1: real quick about the pick that Donald Trump came up
- 14:52Speaker 1: with JD. Vance and the reaction and why so many
- 14:56Speaker 1: are excited about JD. Van's Eric Trump in Milwaukee on
- 15:01Speaker 1: Fox and Friends talking about Vance, the assassination attempt on
- 15:06Speaker 1: his father, and the campaign moving forward.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I know you haven't been out and about so far,
- 15:12Speaker 2: but the Democrats this morning have unveiled sixteen billboards and
- 15:16Speaker 2: one mobile billboard attacking the Trump Advance ticket on abortion
- 15:22Speaker 2: and on tax breaks for billionaires in their words, and
- 15:25Speaker 2: they're referring to it as the Trump Vance Project twenty
- 15:29Speaker 2: twenty five project.
- 15:31Speaker 3: I can only imagine what Kamala is thinking this morning,
- 15:33Speaker 3: because you have a guy who's brilliant Yale Law school,
- 15:35Speaker 3: you know, marine incredibly successful business guy. You know, somebody's
- 15:40Speaker 3: who's gone into politics and kind of taking it by storm,
- 15:43Speaker 3: and a guy who will go into oncoming fire. And
- 15:46Speaker 3: there's almost a bad pun to use this morning, but
- 15:48Speaker 3: every single time he'll go on every single network, no
- 15:50Speaker 3: matter how hostile they are, and just prosecute the case.
- 15:53Speaker 3: And you know what's really interesting to see is the
- 15:55Speaker 3: chemistry be'stween my father and Advance. He's they like being
- 16:00Speaker 3: around each other. They work good together. You know, you
- 16:02Speaker 3: just you feel a natural warmth between the two, and
- 16:05Speaker 3: I think when you're sitting in the White House together,
- 16:07Speaker 3: that's that's incredibly important.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Are you pushing for one of them? Because we know
- 16:10Speaker 1: Don Junior likes.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Him a lot.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Listen, I like him at the same time, I like
- 16:14Speaker 3: the other people that were being considered, and I like
- 16:15Speaker 3: a lot of the people that were being considered before that.
- 16:17Speaker 3: And you know, I always saw my father go with
- 16:19Speaker 3: your gut. You know, my opinion doesn't necessarily matter. And listen,
- 16:22Speaker 3: Advance would be my age. You were very close in age,
- 16:25Speaker 3: and he'd definitely be my agem graphigant guy I could
- 16:27Speaker 3: be great friends with and everything else. But you know,
- 16:30Speaker 3: you have to have that chemistry with people. All the
- 16:32Speaker 3: people that made the finalists were incredibly confident people. They
- 16:35Speaker 3: could do a great job. But you've got to have
- 16:38Speaker 3: that warmth, You've got to have that connection. You've got
- 16:40Speaker 3: to be willing to stand next to that person every
- 16:42Speaker 3: single day in the trenches for a long period of time,
- 16:44Speaker 3: and you know he's going to be excellent.
- 16:48Speaker 1: You watch it here. Here's what you said last night
- 16:50Speaker 1: to Sean about his background.
- 16:53Speaker 5: Can't run on the issue of is the world more
- 16:55Speaker 5: peaceful than it was four years ago. Room when Donald
- 16:58Speaker 5: Trump left office, You've had real growing peace movements all
- 17:02Speaker 5: over the world. The Abraham Accords that showed a real
- 17:05Speaker 5: promise of uniting the Israelis with some of the Suiti
- 17:08Speaker 5: Arab states.
- 17:08Speaker 1: There was no war in Europe.
- 17:11Speaker 5: Asia looked like it was under pretty good control. And
- 17:14Speaker 5: three years later, it seems like we have a conflict
- 17:16Speaker 5: in every corner of the world, and Americans are poorer. Sean,
- 17:19Speaker 5: you know a little about my background. I grew up
- 17:22Speaker 5: in a poor family. I remember when my grandmother, who
- 17:25Speaker 5: raised me, she used to negotiate with the meals on
- 17:27Speaker 5: wheels people to give her additional food so that.
- 17:29Speaker 4: She could feed me.
- 17:31Speaker 5: How does a family like that deal with Joe Biden's
- 17:33Speaker 5: grocery price inflation? How does a family like that deal
- 17:36Speaker 5: with gasoline and energy price inflation. It's gotten more expensive
- 17:40Speaker 5: just to live a good life in this country. Donald
- 17:43Speaker 5: Trump and I want to make that better, and we
- 17:45Speaker 5: have policies to make it better. Democrats have lies and distortions,
- 17:49Speaker 5: and again, I don't think the American people are going
- 17:51Speaker 5: to reward that.
- 17:52Speaker 6: So I guess the big question is, what do you
- 17:54Speaker 6: think was you know, talk to your dad, liked them all.
- 17:59Speaker 6: What do you think was the final thing that he
- 18:02Speaker 6: heard that really said, this is why I'm going to
- 18:04Speaker 6: select this guy again.
- 18:06Speaker 3: I think great energy, and I mean necessarily when you
- 18:08Speaker 3: see him go on to CNA and he's getting ruthlessly
- 18:11Speaker 3: attacked by seven people and he's just kind of dismantling them.
- 18:14Speaker 3: I certainly that you know the policies and he's he's
- 18:17Speaker 3: been just fantastic, and he does have an amazing story
- 18:20Speaker 3: to tell, right from all sides. Great in business, you know,
- 18:23Speaker 3: became very kind of successful, great in the political world,
- 18:26Speaker 3: you know, military background. I mean, it's somebody who can
- 18:28Speaker 3: carry the torch for a very long time.
- 18:31Speaker 6: And that's his story, not his parents' story.
- 18:33Speaker 1: This is actually his story. He's lived the American dream.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Nikki Hayley, she's good. I love by the way, how
- 18:39Speaker 1: he said he's going to be able to carry the
- 18:41Speaker 1: torch for a very long time. And I think that
- 18:46Speaker 1: is something that's so important now, more important now than
- 18:51Speaker 1: ever before, is that you pick your vice president to
- 18:55Speaker 1: be someone that if something happens to you, they can
- 18:58Speaker 1: pick up the torch in like this is this is
- 19:05Speaker 1: why we have a vice President, and now the reality
- 19:08Speaker 1: of that, I think, unfortunately I said in now more
- 19:10Speaker 1: than ever before. I also think there was something else
- 19:16Speaker 1: cool that happened that I that I want you to
- 19:18Speaker 1: hear because it's just awesome.
- 19:20Speaker 7: JD.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Vance was on Hannity from the convention, and this is
- 19:28Speaker 1: the Donald Trump that I know. Donald Trump. During the
- 19:32Speaker 1: VP call, Trump heard Vance's son seven in the background,
- 19:37Speaker 1: and I love this because it just shows the human
- 19:42Speaker 1: nature of the President of the United States of America.
- 19:46Speaker 7: UH.
- 19:46Speaker 1: And the Senator was like, you want to know what
- 19:50Speaker 1: it's like when you're on the phone with Trump. And
- 19:52Speaker 1: this is the story that I've I've told it. I
- 19:55Speaker 1: think I've told it to you guys before, and if
- 19:57Speaker 1: I haven't, I'll make it quick. But it's a it's
- 19:59Speaker 1: a great story. My wife and I we ended up
- 20:02Speaker 1: doing in vitro UH for our children. We we tried
- 20:06Speaker 1: for years and and couldn't have kids, and we had
- 20:08Speaker 1: to move on to the to thank goodness, the medical
- 20:11Speaker 1: miracle which is in vitro fertilization IVF. And the President
- 20:17Speaker 1: was told, this is while he was the president, that
- 20:21Speaker 1: we were going to have twins. And I got a
- 20:25Speaker 1: phone call from the White House, and when you get
- 20:26Speaker 1: a phone call from the White House, it usually comes
- 20:28Speaker 1: up to zero two with no other numbers on your phone.
- 20:30Speaker 1: And I knew this from my time when I was
- 20:32Speaker 1: in the in the you know, working with the Bush administration.
- 20:35Speaker 1: And so it came up and I answered, and it
- 20:37Speaker 1: was someone that I knew that said, hey, the President
- 20:39Speaker 1: would like to talk to you. Can you take the call?
- 20:41Speaker 1: And I was like, of course, like all right, well,
- 20:42Speaker 1: you know we're gonna call you in just a minute,
- 20:45Speaker 1: I think, is how if I remember correctly, I was
- 20:48Speaker 1: like sure, And then sure enough, a few minutes later,
- 20:50Speaker 1: Donald Trump calls and it's the phone and in classic
- 20:55Speaker 1: Trump world, he goes bend. I was like, I'm as
- 20:59Speaker 1: president because I'm I'm he goes, he goes, Donald J.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Trump here from the Oval Office, which is just such
- 21:06Speaker 1: a you know, an arm flex, and it's so classic
- 21:12Speaker 1: Trump and and I was like, I'm as president. He goes,
- 21:16Speaker 1: I hear, there's he here. There's great news in your family,
- 21:18Speaker 1: And I said, yes, sir. He goes, you're having twins.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I said, I am, and he said, well we know
- 21:24Speaker 1: what they are. I said, yeah, that's going to be boys.
- 21:27Speaker 1: And he said he goes, well, you got to name
- 21:31Speaker 1: two boys. I was like, yes, sir. He goes, well,
- 21:33Speaker 1: I'm just going to say, Donald's a pretty good name.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Worst case scenario, you're a billionaire mogul. Best case scenario
- 21:44Speaker 1: it's presidential. And I'm dying laughing cause it's like and
- 21:47Speaker 1: he's not like, it's not like a one line like
- 21:49Speaker 1: he sells pitching it, y'all. It was amazing, and I
- 21:52Speaker 1: start laughing and I was like, I said, well, I said, sir.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I was like, I was like that, you got a
- 21:57Speaker 1: whole other person you're gonna have to convince of that name.
- 22:00Speaker 1: And he goes, what do you mean? I said, well,
- 22:02Speaker 1: it was like my wife. And he goes where is she?
- 22:05Speaker 1: And I was like, she's downstairs. He goes, well, go
- 22:08Speaker 1: get her and put her on the phone. So I
- 22:11Speaker 1: walked downstairs from my office and I'm on the phone
- 22:14Speaker 1: and I look at my wife and I was like, hey,
- 22:16Speaker 1: I was like, somebody's on the phone for you. And
- 22:17Speaker 1: she looks at me weird, like what are you? Like what?
- 22:20Speaker 1: Because that's not normal, right? You just call her phone?
- 22:22Speaker 1: And I'm like and she's like, who is it? And
- 22:24Speaker 1: I'm like, here, I don't tell her, and I handed
- 22:26Speaker 1: her the phone and she's holding our oldest son at
- 22:29Speaker 1: the time, who was still a baby, and she answers that.
- 22:33Speaker 1: She goes hello, and I can hear him. He goes, Anna,
- 22:36Speaker 1: Donald J. Trump here from the Oval Office, and her
- 22:39Speaker 1: face immediately just turns like bright red and she's like, Hi,
- 22:44Speaker 1: I'm as president and he doesn't miss it be He's like, look,
- 22:46Speaker 1: we got to talk about these names. Your job as
- 22:50Speaker 1: a parent is to give your kid a bold name,
- 22:52Speaker 1: an important name, a name that significants her name for
- 22:55Speaker 1: their whole life. They will be no like he's they
- 22:58Speaker 1: will be known by this forever. It'll be for the
- 23:00Speaker 1: day they're born to the day they die, and the
- 23:02Speaker 1: legacy afterwards. We look, we got to talk about these names.
- 23:05Speaker 1: And she's like, uh huh. He's like, look, you got
- 23:07Speaker 1: two to name. I'm just saying I think one of
- 23:09Speaker 1: them a good name would be Donald. And she starts
- 23:12Speaker 1: like laughing and like and she's like, well, miss, you know,
- 23:15Speaker 1: well we're thinking you know family names. He's like, well, look,
- 23:17Speaker 1: you got two. One can be family one. Can you
- 23:19Speaker 1: do middle names? For probably five to six minutes it was,
- 23:24Speaker 1: and I'm just sitting there sitting back dying laughing because
- 23:27Speaker 1: it's just so funny. And I wish I would have
- 23:30Speaker 1: had my phone, but she obviously had to take picture
- 23:32Speaker 1: of this moment. And I don't have that, but I
- 23:34Speaker 1: have the memory. And that is exactly what Donald Trump
- 23:38Speaker 1: is like he was and then and then he turned
- 23:40Speaker 1: very sincere. He's like, look, I just want to say
- 23:41Speaker 1: I'm so excited for you guys. And he was like,
- 23:43Speaker 1: I'll be praying for your children's health, your health anna,
- 23:46Speaker 1: you know, et cetera, and and was very very sincere.
- 23:50Speaker 6: Uh.
- 23:50Speaker 1: And as soon as they were born, I got a
- 23:53Speaker 1: phone call while we were still at the hospital of
- 23:56Speaker 1: him saying congratulations about the kids. And and when I
- 24:01Speaker 1: was in the Oval for his final say the Union,
- 24:05Speaker 1: I was asked to come up and meet with him
- 24:07Speaker 1: in the Oval the day before this final stay of
- 24:09Speaker 1: the Union. And he immediately at the end, he grabbed me.
- 24:13Speaker 1: He's like a right, He's like, let's let's go get
- 24:14Speaker 1: some swag. And he signed a hat for both of
- 24:19Speaker 1: my sons. And he knew that my young my oldest
- 24:21Speaker 1: was you know, he was young young at the time,
- 24:24Speaker 1: but he knew he was obsessed with golf. And he
- 24:27Speaker 1: grabs some prov ones the presidential seal and signed that
- 24:29Speaker 1: for my son as well. And so he goes, look,
- 24:32Speaker 1: you can't go home empty handed. And he and he
- 24:34Speaker 1: and he said, you know, he's very He goes, look,
- 24:36Speaker 1: I know you got three at kids at home. I
- 24:37Speaker 1: know this is you know, getting up here, and I
- 24:39Speaker 1: appreciate it. And so he signed three different things for
- 24:42Speaker 1: my boys.
- 24:43Speaker 7: Uh.
- 24:43Speaker 1: And it was just one of those in our picture
- 24:46Speaker 1: with him at the Oval. I actually have that golf
- 24:48Speaker 1: ball in my hand that he signed for my oldest
- 24:51Speaker 1: and the other two hats for my other two sons.
- 24:53Speaker 1: And that's just who Donald Trump is. And and I
- 24:57Speaker 1: go back to that part of the story to tell you,
- 25:01Speaker 1: you know, during this VP call, Trump heard Vance's son
- 25:06Speaker 1: seven years old in the background and made a very
- 25:08Speaker 1: quote special request. And this is just who he is.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I want you to hear JD. Vance tell this story
- 25:19Speaker 1: about Donald Trump in the moment that he got the
- 25:22Speaker 1: phone call from Donald Trump offering him the VP job. Now,
- 25:27Speaker 1: this was either going to be a good call or
- 25:29Speaker 1: a really bad call. Right, you're just sitting there, you're waiting,
- 25:33Speaker 1: and I want you to hear just how kind Donald
- 25:36Speaker 1: Trump was with his seven year old son in the background,
- 25:40Speaker 1: and I want you to hear this, and then you're
- 25:43Speaker 1: gonna hear about who JD. Vance is and the lefts
- 25:47Speaker 1: attacks on him and him responding. Take a listen. This
- 25:49Speaker 1: is at the convention, his first big interview with Hannity.
- 25:52Speaker 8: Further Ado showing us now marine senator, author of the
- 25:57Speaker 8: massive Big Hit, both in a book for him and movie.
- 26:00Speaker 7: Hillbilly Elegy is the Republican Vice.
- 26:02Speaker 8: President Joe nominee JD Event Sir, how are you, good man?
- 26:06Speaker 8: How are you seeing?
- 26:07Speaker 7: I'm sure you've had a very slow day today.
- 26:09Speaker 4: Yeah, that's right. Nothing happened pretty boring.
- 26:11Speaker 8: Nothing that happen pretty pretty more today, let's talk about
- 26:14Speaker 8: the process. Sure, a lot of questions were you obviously, Uh,
- 26:18Speaker 8: what was it like? Because the last couple of days,
- 26:21Speaker 8: well it's down to two el and Senator Rubio?
- 26:23Speaker 7: What was that like for you?
- 26:25Speaker 4: You know, I just tried to enjoy the ride.
- 26:26Speaker 9: What an honor to be considered if it had been
- 26:28Speaker 9: sent or Ruby? Obviously, Marcus a good guy's good friend.
- 26:31Speaker 9: So I try to just have a good attitude about it. Yeah,
- 26:33Speaker 9: my family's very excited, obviously, asking a lot of questions
- 26:35Speaker 9: I will say, Sean, I hope I'm not betraying too
- 26:38Speaker 9: many confidences here. But when the president called me today,
- 26:41Speaker 9: it actually formally offered me to become, you know, the
- 26:43Speaker 9: vice president's nominee, which just sounds crazy. My son, my
- 26:47Speaker 9: seven year old son, was sort of making noise in
- 26:49Speaker 9: the background.
- 26:49Speaker 4: You know, I'm getting so embarrassed. It's like, oh my god,
- 26:51Speaker 4: Donald Trump's asking me to.
- 26:52Speaker 8: Be his vice So the phone rings, he calls you,
- 26:55Speaker 8: and you're like, Okay, this is the call, or maybe
- 26:57Speaker 8: not the.
- 26:58Speaker 5: Call, or maybe it's a bad call. Right, it's the
- 27:00Speaker 5: who knows whether it's good or bad. But then he
- 27:02Speaker 5: actually has me put my seven year old son on
- 27:05Speaker 5: the phone. If you think about this, everything that's happened.
- 27:08Speaker 5: The guy just got shot at a couple of days ago,
- 27:10Speaker 5: and he takes the time to talk to my seven
- 27:11Speaker 5: year old.
- 27:12Speaker 4: It's a moment I'll never forget, all right, And what.
- 27:15Speaker 8: Did he actually say, you know, he.
- 27:18Speaker 5: Just said, Look, I think I'm gonna go save this country.
- 27:21Speaker 5: I think you're the guy who can help me in
- 27:22Speaker 5: the best way. You can help me govern, you can
- 27:25Speaker 5: help me win, you can help me in some of
- 27:26Speaker 5: these Midwestern states like Pennsylvania, Michigan.
- 27:28Speaker 4: And so forth.
- 27:29Speaker 5: And he said rightfully that we have been very, very
- 27:32Speaker 5: close for a long time, but especially since I endorsed
- 27:36Speaker 5: you in twenty twenty two, and I would not have
- 27:38Speaker 5: won that race without Donald Trump's endorsement and the President's
- 27:41Speaker 5: trust then in his partnership since then has been something
- 27:44Speaker 5: I value a great deal.
- 27:45Speaker 8: Let me let me ask you. You know, this happens
- 27:49Speaker 8: all the time. You get announced and incoming begins.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Let's go over some of it, please, and.
- 27:55Speaker 8: Not questions you haven't heard before, new would be asked.
- 27:59Speaker 8: All of them are fairly predictable, but I think Americans
- 28:01Speaker 8: want the answers.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Sure.
- 28:02Speaker 8: Let me go back to, for example, after you know
- 28:06Speaker 8: he announced this the media, I'm starting to read every
- 28:09Speaker 8: article right yeah, and criticizing you that you know, here's
- 28:13Speaker 8: a guy. This came out of Ohio. His support for
- 28:16Speaker 8: a national abortion band and his twisted belief that women
- 28:18Speaker 8: should stay in violent marriages for the benefit of their
- 28:21Speaker 8: children exemplifies his dangerous extreme extremism. He's not just wrong
- 28:27Speaker 8: for Ohio, he's wrong for the country. I actually saw
- 28:30Speaker 8: those articles this weekend and I said, why would I wait?
- 28:34Speaker 7: I wanted to know the answer.
- 28:36Speaker 8: I called you, Yeah, how do you address that?
- 28:39Speaker 9: Well?
- 28:39Speaker 5: Look, so on, first of all, Democrats have completely twisted
- 28:42Speaker 5: my words here, and as you know, both me and
- 28:45Speaker 5: my mom actually were victims of domestic violence. The way
- 28:48Speaker 5: they say that, you know, Dvance has supported women staying
- 28:51Speaker 5: in violent marriages. I think it's shameful for them to
- 28:53Speaker 5: take a guy with my history and my background and
- 28:56Speaker 5: say that that's what I believe.
- 28:58Speaker 4: It's not what I believe.
- 28:59Speaker 5: It's not what I say, And I think, Sean, it's
- 29:01Speaker 5: evidence of the democrats complete inability.
- 29:04Speaker 4: To talk about the future.
- 29:05Speaker 5: What are Republicans running on delivering the peace and prosperity
- 29:08Speaker 5: that Donald Trump already delivered in his four years. What
- 29:11Speaker 5: are Democrats running on lies and complete distortions of people's records.
- 29:16Speaker 4: That is something I think the American people want to reject.
- 29:18Speaker 4: They're too smart for it. You know.
- 29:19Speaker 8: I said on January second, when the year started, I said,
- 29:22Speaker 8: let me tell you what this year is going to
- 29:23Speaker 8: be like. And I try to give a perspective to
- 29:26Speaker 8: my audience. It's not my first rodeo, that's right, ad,
- 29:29Speaker 8: And I said, the Democrats are going to try to
- 29:31Speaker 8: make this election about.
- 29:33Speaker 7: Quote democracy, in peril.
- 29:34Speaker 8: How often have we heard that meanwhile, they might want
- 29:37Speaker 8: to disenfranchise every primary voter that they had, and they
- 29:42Speaker 8: wanted to get Donald Trump off the ticket in some states.
- 29:44Speaker 8: Another example, it'd be about January sixth, it would be
- 29:47Speaker 8: about abortion, and we hate Donald Trump exactly right. Can
- 29:53Speaker 8: they run on the issue is the country better off
- 29:56Speaker 8: that it was four years ago?
- 29:58Speaker 4: Of course they can't, Sean, they can't run on that
- 29:59Speaker 4: at all. And they can't run on the issue.
- 30:01Speaker 5: Of is the world more peaceful than it was four
- 30:04Speaker 5: years ago? Remember when Donald Trump left office, you had
- 30:07Speaker 5: real growing peace movements all over the world, the Abraham
- 30:11Speaker 5: Accords that showed a real promise of uniting the Israelis
- 30:14Speaker 5: with some of the Sudi Arab states. There was no
- 30:16Speaker 5: war in Europe. Asia looked like it was under pretty
- 30:19Speaker 5: good control. And three years later, it seems like we
- 30:22Speaker 5: have a conflict in every corner of the world, and
- 30:25Speaker 5: Americans are poorer. Sean, you know a little about my background.
- 30:28Speaker 5: I grew up in a poor family. I remember when
- 30:30Speaker 5: my grandmother, who raised me, she used to negotiate with
- 30:33Speaker 5: the meals on wheels people to give her additional food
- 30:36Speaker 5: so that she could feed me, how does a family
- 30:39Speaker 5: like that deal with Joe Biden's grocery price inflation? How
- 30:42Speaker 5: does a family like that deal with gasoline and energy
- 30:45Speaker 5: price inflation? It's gotten more expensive just to live a
- 30:48Speaker 5: good life in this country. Donald Trump and I want
- 30:51Speaker 5: to make that better, and we have policies to make
- 30:54Speaker 5: it better. Democrats have lies and distortions, and again, I
- 30:57Speaker 5: don't think the American people are going to reward.
- 30:58Speaker 7: That opportunity to talk to Donald Trump.
- 31:01Speaker 8: And I knew this question would come up, actually for
- 31:04Speaker 8: almost every person that was under consideration, and that was
- 31:08Speaker 8: past comments that you had made about him, and when
- 31:10Speaker 8: I'll tell you after what his response was, But you
- 31:14Speaker 8: weren't didn't have the nicest things to say about him
- 31:16Speaker 8: back in twenty sixteen, which seems like a long time ago.
- 31:20Speaker 8: Now you know that you literally said, you texted a
- 31:23Speaker 8: friend that Trump is a cynical ahole like Nixon, who
- 31:27Speaker 8: wouldn't be that bad and might even prove useful, and
- 31:30Speaker 8: that he's America's hitler, and you compared him to a
- 31:34Speaker 8: cultural heroine in the Atlantic Monthly.
- 31:37Speaker 7: And I'll tell you Trump's response. But you said that,
- 31:41Speaker 7: then what do you say to people that say well,
- 31:44Speaker 7: wait a minute, what did he mean.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Well, so I don't hide from that.
- 31:48Speaker 5: I was certainly skeptical of Donald Trump in twenty sixteen.
- 31:50Speaker 5: But President Trump was a great president, and he changed
- 31:53Speaker 5: my mind. I think he changed the minds of a
- 31:55Speaker 5: lot of Americans because again he delivered that peace and prosperity.
- 31:59Speaker 4: If you go back to what I thought.
- 32:00Speaker 5: In twenty sixteen, another thing that was going on, Sean
- 32:03Speaker 5: is I bought.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Into the media's lies and distortions.
- 32:05Speaker 5: I bought into this idea that somehow he was going
- 32:08Speaker 5: to be so different, a terrible threat to democracy.
- 32:11Speaker 7: It was a joke.
- 32:13Speaker 4: Joe Biden is the one who's trying to throw his
- 32:15Speaker 4: political opposition in jail.
- 32:16Speaker 5: Joe Biden is the one who's trying to undermine American
- 32:19Speaker 5: law and order. President Trump did a really good job,
- 32:22Speaker 5: and I actually think it's a good thing.
- 32:24Speaker 4: When you see somebody you were wrong about him, You
- 32:26Speaker 4: ought to admit the mistake and admit that you were wrong.
- 32:29Speaker 8: When I brought it up to him, he said, I
- 32:31Speaker 8: can't wait for this, Okay. When I brought it up
- 32:33Speaker 8: to him, he said, yeah, he goes, But he doesn't
- 32:37Speaker 8: think that way, now, does he. So he actually had
- 32:39Speaker 8: a very good sense of humor about it. I also
- 32:41Speaker 8: says a lot about him and he understands. Were you
- 32:43Speaker 8: as political back then?
- 32:45Speaker 4: Not really, Sean. I mean, you know, my book came
- 32:46Speaker 4: out in twenty sixteen, he'll bili elogy. It's really the
- 32:48Speaker 4: sort of the story.
- 32:49Speaker 5: Of growing up in poverty, achieving the American dream, starting
- 32:53Speaker 5: out in business.
- 32:53Speaker 4: And I really didn't care that much about politics. I
- 32:56Speaker 4: certainly had views.
- 32:57Speaker 5: I was a Republican, but I was not as nearly
- 32:59Speaker 5: as involved obviously as I am today. And again because
- 33:02Speaker 5: something that really changed for me, and I think for
- 33:04Speaker 5: a lot of Americans is we saw the results of
- 33:07Speaker 5: the Trump presidency compared to the obsessive, deranged media reaction.
- 33:13Speaker 4: In twenty nineteen and twenty twenty, Like, what's going on?
- 33:15Speaker 4: What's so bad about this guy?
- 33:17Speaker 5: That he's delivered rising wages for American workers and peace
- 33:20Speaker 5: in the world.
- 33:21Speaker 4: Why is the media so obsessed with him?
- 33:22Speaker 5: I think a lot of Americans actually have had a
- 33:24Speaker 5: similar wakening over the last few years because you compare
- 33:27Speaker 5: the results with the reaction, and clearly the people with
- 33:30Speaker 5: the reaction of the problem that's not President Trump's problem.
- 33:32Speaker 8: You know, a lot of people forget too back in
- 33:35Speaker 8: the first debate, I believe it was. And Kamala Harris
- 33:38Speaker 8: was on the stage with Joe Biden at the time,
- 33:40Speaker 8: and she said, I was that girl. If you remember
- 33:43Speaker 8: that moment, it was a very hard hitting moment. What
- 33:45Speaker 8: she was referring to is the fact that Joe Biden
- 33:48Speaker 8: had partnered with a former klansman and tried to stop
- 33:51Speaker 8: the integration of public schools. Joe Biden's words, he didn't
- 33:55Speaker 8: want those schools to become racial Jungles.
- 33:59Speaker 5: Seun Ilamila Harris basically said, Joe Biden wouldn't want a
- 34:02Speaker 5: little black girl like me to live in her neighborhood.
- 34:04Speaker 5: He also powered around with clansmen. She said this months
- 34:08Speaker 5: before she joined his ticket. Sean, I said some bad
- 34:10Speaker 5: things about Donald Trump ten years ago. But I think
- 34:12Speaker 5: it's actually important to be able again to admit that
- 34:15Speaker 5: you're wrong. And if we can make a good pick
- 34:17Speaker 5: case of the American people, people who may have been
- 34:19Speaker 5: skeptical of the president back in twenty sixteen, who can
- 34:22Speaker 5: be skeptical now that we've seen the results.
- 34:23Speaker 7: All right, let's talk about a little bit.
- 34:26Speaker 8: And I think these are important times in a consequential time.
- 34:29Speaker 7: Sure, and we see what's happening with the border.
- 34:31Speaker 8: For example, I think it's now become the number one
- 34:34Speaker 8: national security threat.
- 34:35Speaker 4: Oh absolutely.
- 34:36Speaker 8: And we have nearly eleven million unvetted Joe Biden illegal
- 34:39Speaker 8: immigrants in this country.
- 34:41Speaker 7: What should we do with them?
- 34:42Speaker 4: Well, so we have to deport people.
- 34:44Speaker 5: We have to deport people who broke our laws who
- 34:46Speaker 5: came in here, and I think we start with the
- 34:48Speaker 5: violent criminals.
- 34:48Speaker 4: And President Trump has.
- 34:50Speaker 5: Been very very effective at communicating on this so to
- 34:52Speaker 5: the point where now a majority of Americans believe that
- 34:55Speaker 5: we needed to port a large number of people who've
- 34:57Speaker 5: come here illegally. That's a major political victory for him,
- 35:00Speaker 5: and I think it's going to lead to a policy
- 35:02Speaker 5: victory for the American people. But John, we have to
- 35:04Speaker 5: talk about the fentanyl problem because this is something that
- 35:07Speaker 5: I know extremely personally, and we have close to one
- 35:10Speaker 5: hundred thousand Americans dying of drug over nurses every single year.
- 35:13Speaker 5: Most of us is brought in by Mexican drug cartels
- 35:16Speaker 5: manufacturing in China, been brought in by these cartels. To
- 35:19Speaker 5: get a little personal, you know, my mom started with
- 35:21Speaker 5: addiction for a big chunk on my early life.
- 35:23Speaker 4: That's why my grandmother, who I call Mamma, raised me.
- 35:26Speaker 5: But the coolest thing, maybe the greatest blessing of my life,
- 35:30Speaker 5: is that my mom is about to celebrate ten years sober,
- 35:32Speaker 5: and she is able to celebrate ten years sober, frankly
- 35:35Speaker 5: because the poison that's coming across the border now wasn't
- 35:38Speaker 5: coming across in such large.
- 35:40Speaker 4: Numbers fifteen years ago.
- 35:41Speaker 5: We are depriving Americans of a second chance with their
- 35:44Speaker 5: loved ones. You cannot keep on doing this. You're orphaning
- 35:48Speaker 5: an entire generation in kids. Go to Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Seawan.
- 35:53Speaker 5: You have thousands of grandparents raising grandchildren that they weren't
- 35:57Speaker 5: expecting to raise because of the poison.
- 35:59Speaker 4: Joe Biden come across the border.
- 36:01Speaker 5: President Trump is the guy to stop this, and if
- 36:04Speaker 5: we don't stop it, we're in generation young kids.
- 36:07Speaker 8: You know, when I saw you in Atlanta, I said,
- 36:09Speaker 8: I felt a little embarrassed because one of the few Americans,
- 36:13Speaker 8: because most people knew Hillbilly elog. It was a massive
- 36:16Speaker 8: bestseller that became a movie, and I didn't. I literally
- 36:21Speaker 8: read at least a book a day researching. I know
- 36:24Speaker 8: you do radio and television and so I decided I
- 36:27Speaker 8: watched the movie, and when I saw you, I did
- 36:30Speaker 8: ask you, is this really what your life was, Appalachia.
- 36:36Speaker 7: And this is the history of your life, Appalachia.
- 36:39Speaker 8: You become a marine and by the way, your mom
- 36:41Speaker 8: was a drug addict and an alcoholic. Your father not
- 36:45Speaker 8: exactly the greatest father in the world, and you grew
- 36:47Speaker 8: up poor and you had an amazing grandmother that came
- 36:50Speaker 8: out of your life too, right. But then you joined
- 36:52Speaker 8: the Marines, you served in Iraq, You came out of school,
- 36:55Speaker 8: you went to Ohio State, you went to Yale, You
- 36:58Speaker 8: prospered at Yale. Then you went on to be successful
- 37:01Speaker 8: in business, which, by the way, democrats are criticizing you
- 37:04Speaker 8: for they wish you fell by you guess when they
- 37:07Speaker 8: wrote that, considering where you came from.
- 37:09Speaker 7: It's the American dream. And then you know, you got
- 37:14Speaker 7: into politics and you did so successfully.
- 37:17Speaker 8: A pretty amazing story to give us some texture and
- 37:20Speaker 8: context to that life that.
- 37:22Speaker 7: I mean, that's a tough life you had.
- 37:25Speaker 5: Yeah, Sawan, it was tough in a lot of ways,
- 37:27Speaker 5: but blessed in a lot of ways. And I think
- 37:28Speaker 5: you got to sort of accept the good with the bad.
- 37:30Speaker 9: I wouldn't see the world the same way that I
- 37:32Speaker 9: see it without that experience that I really do see
- 37:35Speaker 9: it as a blessing. The grandmother who raised me was
- 37:38Speaker 9: such an amazing person. I mean, she was a woman
- 37:40Speaker 9: of deep Christian faith.
- 37:41Speaker 5: She cursed like a sailor. I mean, she had a
- 37:43Speaker 5: mouth that would really make a Marine Corps rill.
- 37:45Speaker 4: Instruct her blush.
- 37:46Speaker 5: But she was so loving and so disciplined, and I
- 37:49Speaker 5: really think that all the opportunities that I've had come
- 37:51Speaker 5: directly from her. She also believed in this country and
- 37:55Speaker 5: recognized that most people to Washington do not care about
- 37:58Speaker 5: people like her.
- 38:00Speaker 4: And I talk about.
- 38:00Speaker 5: Generations of grandparents raising generations of grandchildren. That's exactly what
- 38:04Speaker 5: I think about, because I remember that my mamma, she
- 38:07Speaker 5: couldn't afford her Medicaid payments, She couldn't afford the.
- 38:11Speaker 4: Prescription drugs that she needed.
- 38:12Speaker 5: She sometimes couldn't even afford food for both me and her.
- 38:16Speaker 5: Those are the people who suffer when we have the
- 38:18Speaker 5: policies that we've had over the last three and a
- 38:20Speaker 5: half years, And those are the people who stand to
- 38:23Speaker 5: benefit the most from President Trump.
- 38:25Speaker 4: Round two.
- 38:25Speaker 8: Let me go back to the scene and you referred
- 38:27Speaker 8: to it earlier meals on wheels. Yeah, and she would
- 38:31Speaker 8: negotiate an extra something because you had nothing else nothing.
- 38:37Speaker 5: Well, we sometimes we struggled, but sometimes strown. We didn't
- 38:40Speaker 5: have anything, and she would negotiate to get a little
- 38:42Speaker 5: bit of extra so that she could share with me
- 38:44Speaker 5: and also have enough for herself.
- 38:46Speaker 4: Look, sometimes tough work.
- 38:47Speaker 5: Sometimes times were heart right, and you know, but I
- 38:51Speaker 5: look back on that and I think to myself, when
- 38:53Speaker 5: I go and talk to people, when I serve people
- 38:55Speaker 5: as a United States Senator from the state of Ohio,
- 38:57Speaker 5: I go and visit a food bank, I actually understand
- 39:00Speaker 5: a little bit what people are going through. And so, yeah,
- 39:02Speaker 5: it was tough when I was dealing with it, but
- 39:04Speaker 5: now I really do think it's a blessing because it's
- 39:06Speaker 5: given me a perspective a lot of politicians don't have.
- 39:08Speaker 8: Let's talk about what you believe the role of a
- 39:11Speaker 8: vice president should be.
- 39:12Speaker 4: Sure, Well, look, Sean, I think it's very simple. Number One.
- 39:15Speaker 5: You need to support the president in enacting the agenda,
- 39:18Speaker 5: whether it's going and meeting with foreign leaders, whether it's
- 39:21Speaker 5: working with the Senate and the House to get legislation passed.
- 39:24Speaker 5: The president can't be everywhere, even Donald Trump can't be everywhere.
- 39:27Speaker 5: So you've got to be a person he can trust,
- 39:30Speaker 5: he can rely on to actually advance the agenda. That's
- 39:33Speaker 5: the most important job. Of course, if something God forbid happens,
- 39:36Speaker 5: you got to be ready to step into that office.
- 39:38Speaker 5: That's one of the most important roles the vice president.
- 39:40Speaker 5: But I think Donald Trump very healthy, going to serve
- 39:43Speaker 5: a four very good years. But we've got to have
- 39:45Speaker 5: Republicans who are helping him with the agenda. You remember
- 39:48Speaker 5: this as well as anybody, Sean. As successful as he
- 39:51Speaker 5: was politically, even after he was elected, certain Republicans didn't
- 39:55Speaker 5: want to actually enact the America First agenda.
- 39:59Speaker 4: You've got to have leaders in Washington who are supporting him,
- 40:01Speaker 4: not fighting against him.
- 40:03Speaker 8: Let's talk about an occasion where you might disagree with him.
- 40:06Speaker 7: Sure, how do you view your role in terms of
- 40:08Speaker 7: handling that moment.
- 40:10Speaker 4: That's very simple, Sean.
- 40:11Speaker 5: I think that you owe it to the president to
- 40:13Speaker 5: be honest with him if you don't think that he's
- 40:14Speaker 5: doing the right thing. If you disagree with him, but
- 40:17Speaker 5: you do it in private. You offer your counsel in private.
- 40:20Speaker 5: Because a lot of the vultures in the press, they
- 40:22Speaker 5: will blow up every public So.
- 40:24Speaker 8: You've met my colleagues right here. I call him state
- 40:27Speaker 8: run media.
- 40:28Speaker 4: No, they absolutely are are state run media.
- 40:31Speaker 5: In fact, they're so state run that even after President
- 40:33Speaker 5: Trump was shot and he showed a remarkable amount of
- 40:37Speaker 5: unity and defiance and calmness.
- 40:40Speaker 4: They blamed him for the rhetoric, even though he was
- 40:44Speaker 4: the victim of a near assassination.
- 40:46Speaker 5: It's crazy, but I think it's really important that you
- 40:50Speaker 5: don't have Republicans who blow up disagreements so that they
- 40:54Speaker 5: can win points with the media who are never going
- 40:56Speaker 5: to treat Republicans fairly. The job is to help the
- 40:59Speaker 5: nact the agenda.
- 41:00Speaker 4: And why does that matter? Because that's what's going to
- 41:02Speaker 4: make people's lives better.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Let me say this also about JD. Vance real quick,
- 41:07Speaker 1: just to put it in perspective. I think how incredible
- 41:11Speaker 1: this pick is. You look at his history, you look
- 41:13Speaker 1: at his background, you listen to and talk about his upbringing.
- 41:17Speaker 1: He's going to remember so many Americans that keep getting forgotten.
- 41:23Speaker 1: He is going to remember those that are struggling. You know,
- 41:28Speaker 1: in this country there has been this kind of a
- 41:31Speaker 1: I guess you could say obsession, and it is an
- 41:37Speaker 1: obsession that only Democrats can care for those that are poor,
- 41:43Speaker 1: because they have convinced poor people that they're the only
- 41:45Speaker 1: ones that are there for them. And the only reason
- 41:48Speaker 1: why that's the case. Okay, the only reason why that's
- 41:53Speaker 1: the case is because they keep people addicted to poverty
- 41:58Speaker 1: because of government. A Hey, come vote for me and
- 42:01Speaker 1: I'll give you some food. Here's your pentance from the
- 42:03Speaker 1: US government. Right, keep voting for me. The other guys
- 42:05Speaker 1: don't want you to want to give you food stamps
- 42:09Speaker 1: or you know, utility assistance or housing credits, whatever it
- 42:13Speaker 1: may be, public housing. Now, we want you to not
- 42:15Speaker 1: live a life literally in the below poverty. That's the
- 42:19Speaker 1: difference between conservative liberals. Liberals want to keep you there
- 42:22Speaker 1: for your whole life, so they own you like a
- 42:23Speaker 1: modern day slave, so that you will always vote for them. Okay,
- 42:27Speaker 1: that is the part that people don't understand. Okay, that
- 42:33Speaker 1: is the part that people do not get. And I
- 42:37Speaker 1: think that's really really important. I think it's a really
- 42:41Speaker 1: important point that needs to be made. And I think
- 42:45Speaker 1: this is where JD can be a great candidate for
- 42:50Speaker 1: the president, to go out there and to tell people like, hey,
- 42:55Speaker 1: I understand Hey, I get it. Hey, I comprehend what's
- 43:03Speaker 1: going on here. I understand how hard it is to survive.
- 43:07Speaker 1: I've been there, I've done that. Look at my life,
- 43:12Speaker 1: Look at my grandmother that raised me, look at my mom.
- 43:15Speaker 1: He can understand those that deal with addiction. And I
- 43:19Speaker 1: do believe that's going to be incredibly important for the
- 43:21Speaker 1: American people. He has a lot of compassion for people
- 43:24Speaker 1: that are struggling. I think this is going to be
- 43:26Speaker 1: very important for this campaign. I think it's gonna be
- 43:30Speaker 1: incredibly important for Donald Trump to have someone out there
- 43:34Speaker 1: that can walk out there and say, I've been where
- 43:35Speaker 1: you are right now, and we want to get you
- 43:39Speaker 1: out of this. We don't want to keep you in it.
- 43:42Speaker 1: I want you to be able to succeed, not live
- 43:44Speaker 1: in poverty. And that is your legacy for your entire life.
- 43:47Speaker 1: Because the Democrats never want to get you out of poverty.
- 43:49Speaker 1: They want to keep you there so you're dependent on them,
- 43:51Speaker 1: so you will vote for them, and they own you
- 43:53Speaker 1: like a modern day slave, Make no mistake about it.
- 43:58Speaker 1: That's what this is about. That's why I think the
- 44:01Speaker 1: President picked him, and I think he's a great pick
- 44:03Speaker 1: for him. Make sure you share this podcast with your
