- 0:01Speaker 1: Kevin McCarthy is out as a Speaker of the House.
- 0:04Speaker 1: The question now is what happens next. I'm being told
- 0:08Speaker 1: there's a very good chance it could be Steve Scalise.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Would Steve Scalise be a great speaker. I do believe
- 0:15Speaker 1: that he would be a great speaker. Steve Scalise is
- 0:17Speaker 1: a man. If you remember that was practicing for that
- 0:20Speaker 1: congressional football game when that attempted mass murderer and a
- 0:26Speaker 1: mass shooter decided to start mowing down Conservatives who were
- 0:30Speaker 1: practicing for that game. Steve Scalise was one of those
- 0:33Speaker 1: that was hurt very badly. He was able to come
- 0:35Speaker 1: back from that. I'm being told that there's a very
- 0:38Speaker 1: good chance that Steve Scalise could get the speakership. Now.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Is that an improvement over Kevin McCarthy. Probably? And I
- 0:46Speaker 1: also think that we need to get this done very quickly.
- 0:50Speaker 1: We know now that Kevin McCarthy is not gonna run.
- 0:53Speaker 1: He said that in conference and made it very clear.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Congressman Matt Gates gave his remarks after the removal of
- 1:01Speaker 1: Kevin McCarthy outside of the capital to the media, and
- 1:05Speaker 1: I want you to hear what he said. Listen carefully,
- 1:07Speaker 1: you'll hear the reporters yelling their question and what was.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Going through your head? Let the vote gattle down, and
- 1:13Speaker 2: it was a special McCarthy wasn't speak there.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Just we got to move to the next step. You know,
- 1:17Speaker 3: we are not at the end of this process. Okay,
- 1:20Speaker 3: at most, we're approaching halftime. We've got to be able
- 1:23Speaker 3: to assemble a governing coalition.
- 1:26Speaker 1: We have to.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Build from a place of trust. The reason Kevin McCarthy
- 1:29Speaker 3: went down today is because nobody trusts Kevin McCarthy. Kevin
- 1:32Speaker 3: McCarthy has made multiple contradictory promises and when they all
- 1:37Speaker 3: came to lost, He lost votes of people who maybe
- 1:39Speaker 3: don't even ideologically agree with me on everything. Take for example,
- 1:42Speaker 3: my colleague from South Carolina, Miss Mace. She's she has
- 1:46Speaker 3: different views than I do on a variety of subjects,
- 1:48Speaker 3: but what we had in common Kevin McCarthy lied on
- 1:50Speaker 3: the cross online.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Second, you're saying that nobody trusts Kevin McCarthy, you're talking
- 1:55Speaker 2: about coding yourself about seven Republicans compared to about two
- 1:59Speaker 2: hundred and.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Somewhat Republicans who actually do trust him. So can you
- 2:05Speaker 1: kind of explain.
- 2:07Speaker 3: As it turns out, getting two hundred Republicans to trust
- 2:10Speaker 3: you isn't enough to stay speaker compared to Republicans.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Have you spoken to former President Trump about this since
- 2:17Speaker 2: the ousting?
- 2:18Speaker 4: Was he supportive of the.
- 2:19Speaker 1: What what you were doing?
- 2:20Speaker 3: I have spoken to President Trump over the last several days.
- 2:23Speaker 3: The ousting only occurred several minutes ago, so we haven't spoken.
- 2:25Speaker 5: President put on your scial that he didn't think this
- 2:29Speaker 5: was a good idea.
- 2:30Speaker 6: He didn't want to see Republicans fighting with other Republicans.
- 2:33Speaker 1: How do you respond to the former president?
- 2:35Speaker 3: I would uh. I would say that my conversations with
- 2:39Speaker 3: the former president leave me with great confidence that I'm
- 2:41Speaker 3: doing the right thing.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Did the President call you today?
- 2:44Speaker 1: The agenda and the.
- 2:49Speaker 3: I would say that the conservative agenda was being paralyzed
- 2:52Speaker 3: by Speaker McCarthy's we have Krthy.
- 2:54Speaker 1: We hadn't even said you listened to Matt Gates there,
- 2:59Speaker 1: and Matt h is loving this moment. I do think
- 3:03Speaker 1: there's a very interesting parallel between Matt Gates and Ross Parrot.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Ross Parrot, if you know the history of why he
- 3:10Speaker 1: decided to run against George Bush, was he just didn't
- 3:12Speaker 1: want George Bush to be president. He didn't want to
- 3:15Speaker 1: be president himself. Ross Parrow actually did not want to
- 3:17Speaker 1: be president. He just wanted to make sure that George
- 3:19Speaker 1: Bush did didn't get to keep his job as president.
- 3:24Speaker 1: And ross parrou had what Summer referred to as the
- 3:27Speaker 1: blank U money. He had enough cash to finance his
- 3:31Speaker 1: own campaign, and he thought, I can probably find enough
- 3:36Speaker 1: disgruntled conservatives, libertarians, those that are tired of the establishment,
- 3:43Speaker 1: and those that I can convince to be tired of
- 3:45Speaker 1: George Bush that I can cost him the presidency, which
- 3:48Speaker 1: ultimately gave you Bill Clinton. There is no way in
- 3:52Speaker 1: the polling that Bill Clinton would have won that election
- 3:55Speaker 1: if it wasn't for ross Paro stealing more votes from
- 3:58Speaker 1: Bush than he stole from Clinton. Yeah, he's still from
- 4:00Speaker 1: Clinton too, but he stole more votes, almost a two
- 4:03Speaker 1: to one margin, from Bush than he stole from Clinton.
- 4:07Speaker 1: So ross Perrot got what he wanted. He wanted to
- 4:10Speaker 1: cost George Bush the presidency, and he did it. And
- 4:13Speaker 1: then what he did, he went away. Matt Gates hates
- 4:18Speaker 1: Kevin McCarthy. Kevin McCarthy hates Matt Gates. You have to
- 4:23Speaker 1: ask yourself this question, was this for the go of
- 4:25Speaker 1: country or was this because Matt Gates hates McCarthy and
- 4:27Speaker 1: McCarthy hates Matt Gates. You know, if you look at
- 4:31Speaker 1: take politics out for a second. I'm just saying how
- 4:34Speaker 1: childish this was. At the end, Kevin McCarthy tweeted out,
- 4:39Speaker 1: and this is a dumb tweet for the speaker to
- 4:40Speaker 1: tweet out, bring it on. He was in response to
- 4:43Speaker 1: Ken McCarthy saying, all right, excuse me, in response to
- 4:46Speaker 1: Matt Gates saying I'm gonna bring this vote, and he
- 4:49Speaker 1: said bring it on. And then what happened was the
- 4:53Speaker 1: wheels came off and Matt Gates and seven other Republicans
- 4:58Speaker 1: did this, be clear, with one hundred percent Democratic support.
- 5:05Speaker 1: They did this by working with all of the Democrats.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I having some of the Democrats, all of the Democrats
- 5:09Speaker 1: over throw Kevin McCarthy and Matt Gates's response was after
- 5:13Speaker 1: the vote, I just did. Now. Some would say that's
- 5:18Speaker 1: an unbelievable amount of power. Others would see that is
- 5:21Speaker 1: total chaos. Matt Gates is you know, he likes being
- 5:25Speaker 1: the least liked conservative in the room in Washington, d C.
- 5:32Speaker 1: He likes going out to conservative events and being cheered.
- 5:36Speaker 1: He likes being famous, he loves this amount of attention.
- 5:41Speaker 1: I know Matt Gates, Okay, I know him well. I
- 5:47Speaker 1: have a cell phone number, he has mine, and we've
- 5:49Speaker 1: been friendly throughout our career. We've had dinner together, we
- 5:53Speaker 1: have been backstage together, We've spoken at different conservative events together.
- 5:58Speaker 1: But Matt Gates, to be is about Matt Gates. Now,
- 6:05Speaker 1: there's one. I have two problems with how this went down,
- 6:08Speaker 1: and none of this has to do with Ken McCarthy,
- 6:10Speaker 1: by the way. Number one, the timing this of this
- 6:14Speaker 1: was incredibly incompetent. You had yesterday when this was going on.
- 6:21Speaker 1: On the same day this was going on, you had
- 6:24Speaker 1: Hunter Biden in a courtroom, in a federal courtroom for
- 6:28Speaker 1: gun charges against him. You know what, the media didn't
- 6:32Speaker 1: have to cover Hunter Biden pleading not guilty to crimes
- 6:36Speaker 1: that he has committed in a federal courtroom. You had
- 6:40Speaker 1: a media that got a pass and said, I don't
- 6:42Speaker 1: have to cover that now because for the first time
- 6:43Speaker 1: in the United States history, on the same exact day, okay,
- 6:47Speaker 1: on the same day, we're getting rid of a speaker
- 6:52Speaker 1: and an infighting, I get to cover that instead. And
- 6:55Speaker 1: that was a stupid move. This vote should have not
- 6:59Speaker 1: been brought up on the same day. This should have
- 7:03Speaker 1: been tabled till today, till the next day, till tomorrow,
- 7:08Speaker 1: and made sure that we had a news cycle where
- 7:10Speaker 1: you had to cover the President United It's America's son
- 7:13Speaker 1: in court in a federal courtroom having to plead not guilty.
- 7:19Speaker 1: The second part of this is who's going to be better?
- 7:25Speaker 1: Who is the next person. I'm hearing Steve Scalise is
- 7:28Speaker 1: the front runner at this point. That obviously can change.
- 7:32Speaker 1: There's a bunch of people that are obsessed with it
- 7:34Speaker 1: being Donald Trump. I don't think Donald Trump wants this job,
- 7:38Speaker 1: so that's a waste of time. He's running for president.
- 7:42Speaker 1: But Matt Gates doesn't have a better name. It's not him.
- 7:45Speaker 1: But I think ultimately he got what he wanted. He
- 7:48Speaker 1: got more followers on Twitter, Facebook, his name id went up.
- 7:51Speaker 1: He can fundraise off of this, and he has the
- 7:54Speaker 1: idea of the mentality of burned the whole place down.
- 7:57Speaker 1: And there are people that love that. But is it
- 8:00Speaker 1: good for the Republican Party when it comes to the nation. No,
- 8:04Speaker 1: there are a lot of independent voters right now. They're
- 8:06Speaker 1: thinking this party is a bunch of yahoos, and they're
- 8:11Speaker 1: going to look at this and remember this on election day.
- 8:15Speaker 1: All right, let me tell you real quick about an
- 8:17Speaker 1: amazing company called Patriot Mobile. For ten years, they have
- 8:21Speaker 1: been America's only Christian conservative wireless provider. And when I
- 8:25Speaker 1: say only trust me, they're the only one. Glenn and
- 8:29Speaker 1: the team have been great supporters of this show, which
- 8:32Speaker 1: is why I'm proud to partner with Patriot Mobile. They
- 8:35Speaker 1: offer you dependable nationwide coverage, giving you the ability to
- 8:38Speaker 1: access all three major networks, which means you get the
- 8:41Speaker 1: same coverage you've been accustomed to without funding the leftist agenda.
- 8:47Speaker 1: When you switch to Patriot Mobile, you're sending the message
- 8:49Speaker 1: that you support free speech, religious freedom, sancty of life,
- 8:52Speaker 1: Second Amendment, and our military, our veterans and first responder heroes.
- 8:57Speaker 1: They have one hundred percent US based customer service team
- 9:00Speaker 1: making switching easy. You get to keep your same cell
- 9:03Speaker 1: phone number, keep your same phone that you have right now,
- 9:06Speaker 1: keep your same phone, or upgrade to a new one,
- 9:09Speaker 1: and their team will help you find the best plan
- 9:11Speaker 1: for your needs and save you real money. You've got
- 9:14Speaker 1: a small business, they can cover all that as well.
- 9:17Speaker 1: All you need to do is go to Patriot mobile
- 9:19Speaker 1: dot com slash ferguson, patriotmobile dot com slash ferguson, or
- 9:24Speaker 1: call them nine seven to two Patriot. That's nine seven
- 9:28Speaker 1: to two Patriot get free activation when you use the
- 9:31Speaker 1: promo code ferguson. Join me and make the switch today
- 9:35Speaker 1: and protect our values and stand for them with every
- 9:38Speaker 1: phone call patriotmobile dot com slash ferguson or nine seven
- 9:43Speaker 1: to two Patriot. Let's talk about what's next, because we
- 9:48Speaker 1: got to fix this pretty quick. I'm being told by
- 9:51Speaker 1: quite a few sources and quite a few Congress people
- 9:56Speaker 1: that the top Republican at this moment is represented to Scalise.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Steve Scalise is working behind the scenes to replace Ken
- 10:04Speaker 1: McCarthy as a speaker. And this is something that Steve Scalise,
- 10:09Speaker 1: who is also the House Majority leader, he's a Republican
- 10:12Speaker 1: from Louisiana, is seeking support hard like full court press
- 10:19Speaker 1: to replace Kevin McCarthy. Sources are now saying, and have
- 10:23Speaker 1: also now said to Fox News that Scalise has been
- 10:26Speaker 1: making calls behind the scenes to shore up support ahead
- 10:29Speaker 1: of a possible vote as early as Wednesday afternoon. Now
- 10:36Speaker 1: that timeline may work. It could be later, but what
- 10:41Speaker 1: we know is Representative Matt Gates, who introduced the motion
- 10:46Speaker 1: to vacate against McCarthy that ultimately led to his removal.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Total reporters yesterday afternoon that Scalise would be quote a
- 10:55Speaker 1: phenomenal speaker. Now that's the only person that he has
- 10:57Speaker 1: said that he would support publicly, besides I think Donald Trump,
- 11:02Speaker 1: and there's no chance in how Donald Trump's going to
- 11:03Speaker 1: do this. McCarthy was temporarily replaced, as you know, by
- 11:09Speaker 1: Representative Patrick McHenry, Republican, North Carolina. The new Speaker pro
- 11:15Speaker 1: tim of the House will preside over the chamber until
- 11:18Speaker 1: a new speaker is elected. Now, McCarthy has made it
- 11:23Speaker 1: clear I'm not going to run, and even mentioned or
- 11:26Speaker 1: alluded to the fact he may just resign from Congress altogether.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I don't know if he'll do that. I don't really
- 11:32Speaker 1: care if he decides to resign, fine, it doesn't bother
- 11:35Speaker 1: me a bit. Representative Greg Murphy, Republican, North Carolina also
- 11:40Speaker 1: said he has plans to have a candidate forum and
- 11:45Speaker 1: a vote on who would succeed McCarthy again. He says
- 11:49Speaker 1: this is important for us to do as fast as possible,
- 11:52Speaker 1: possibly as early as Wednesday. Eight Republicans quitting Gates who
- 11:57Speaker 1: joined all Democrats and voting in McCarthy's continued speakership, have
- 12:02Speaker 1: also alluded to the fact, several of them that they
- 12:05Speaker 1: would support Steve Scalise, now the House majority whip. Tom
- 12:11Speaker 1: Emmer suggested also that Scalise would be make a good speaker.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Scalise told reporters following a Republican leadership meeting that he
- 12:18Speaker 1: didn't have anything to quote announce, which is probably very smart.
- 12:23Speaker 1: I'm also being told that Steve Scalise has made it
- 12:27Speaker 1: clear that he would only want this job for the
- 12:31Speaker 1: rest of the term, okay, the rest of the term
- 12:35Speaker 1: meeting until the next election, and then he would not
- 12:39Speaker 1: want re election. He would say, hey, I'll continue this
- 12:42Speaker 1: congressional term of this Congress and that's it. Now, there's
- 12:46Speaker 1: a couple of reasons why that may happen. Many people
- 12:49Speaker 1: don't know this, but Steve Scalise has been diagnosed with
- 12:51Speaker 1: blood cancer earlier this year. People have asked, hey, is
- 12:55Speaker 1: he physically have to do the job a speaker? He
- 12:57Speaker 1: said he feels great when he was asked that question,
- 13:00Speaker 1: but he does have h He has been diagnosed with
- 13:03Speaker 1: blood cancer. He's obviously in treatment for that. That's another
- 13:07Speaker 1: reason why I think he could say, Hey, I'm a
- 13:09Speaker 1: guy that you can trust. I'm a guy that cares
- 13:12Speaker 1: about this country. I'm fighting for my life with his
- 13:15Speaker 1: blood cancer. I want to serve my country. I have
- 13:18Speaker 1: served my country, have almost died for my country when
- 13:20Speaker 1: I was shot, and I am a guy that is
- 13:24Speaker 1: going to do whatever I can to help this country.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Steve Scalise is liked by a lot of people. There's
- 13:33Speaker 1: also this pipe dream which is annoying to me. And
- 13:37Speaker 1: that pipe dream is this idea that Donald Trump would
- 13:42Speaker 1: be the speaker. This is a waste of time. Donald
- 13:45Speaker 1: Trump is not going to be the speaker. And this
- 13:48Speaker 1: is part of the unrealistic mentality of some of the
- 13:52Speaker 1: Republican Party who float this. Sean Hannity asked Jim Jordan
- 13:55Speaker 1: about this last night.
- 13:57Speaker 5: And people, and you do not need to compromise on
- 14:00Speaker 5: last question. I've now heard from a number of people.
- 14:03Speaker 5: I know for a fact Donald Trump has been contacted
- 14:08Speaker 5: about possibly him being an interim speaker. Is that a reality.
- 14:13Speaker 7: I don't know, he'd be great, but I actually I
- 14:15Speaker 7: want Donald Trump to be the next president United States.
- 14:17Speaker 7: If he wants to be speaking, I want him to
- 14:20Speaker 7: be president.
- 14:22Speaker 5: He's still going to be running for president.
- 14:25Speaker 7: That's where we need him is at sixteen hundred Pennsylvania Avenue.
- 14:28Speaker 7: If he wants to be a speaker, then that's fine too.
- 14:30Speaker 5: All right, Well, I think you do want temporarily to
- 14:34Speaker 5: get at the same time.
- 14:35Speaker 7: You can do it at the same time.
- 14:36Speaker 8: I get to that.
- 14:38Speaker 5: You probably could, all right, Thank you, Jim.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I love by the way, how Jim Jordan handled that,
- 14:42Speaker 1: like you can't do both the same time. You can't
- 14:45Speaker 1: do both at the same time. He's right. So this
- 14:49Speaker 1: is now where we are. We are at a point
- 14:53Speaker 1: where we don't have a speaker. We need a speaker.
- 14:55Speaker 1: We need somebody that everybody can agree on, and we
- 14:58Speaker 1: need to move on from this quick now. If we
- 15:00Speaker 1: do that quickly, then are we in a good place
- 15:04Speaker 1: moving forward? I think we will be representative Gaminez. He
- 15:12Speaker 1: was asked about all of this and about the chaos
- 15:16Speaker 1: and within the Republican Party and just how chaotic the
- 15:20Speaker 1: Republican Party has gotten. I want you to hear how
- 15:24Speaker 1: he explained it in his words, because this is what
- 15:26Speaker 1: we have to move forward to listen, I don't.
- 15:30Speaker 9: Think you know, McCarthy got up, by the way, said
- 15:32Speaker 9: he wasn't gonna that he that he wasn't going to
- 15:35Speaker 9: be runny anymore. And then there was a lot of
- 15:37Speaker 9: emotion in that room. A lot of people are very
- 15:39Speaker 9: disappointed Sawtiers. You know, look, he's been a really good speaker,
- 15:44Speaker 9: he's a really good person, and he didn't deserve what happened.
- 15:48Speaker 1: In the day.
- 15:49Speaker 10: Gates needed Democrats to get this done. Yeah, so what
- 15:53Speaker 10: do you think of that dynamic, the fact that Democrats
- 15:57Speaker 10: helped him do this? Do you find it ironic at all?
- 16:00Speaker 10: Another criticism? I find it hypocritical.
- 16:03Speaker 9: And he said that somehow McCarthy made some kind of
- 16:06Speaker 9: deal with the Democrats to save his speakership winning in
- 16:09Speaker 9: fact did not obviously, but then Gates needed those same
- 16:12Speaker 9: Democrats in order to house McCarthy. That shows the depocrisy
- 16:16Speaker 9: of Matt Gates, and that's why he's not really well
- 16:19Speaker 9: liked within our conference. Matt Gates is about Matt Gates,
- 16:23Speaker 9: not about the American people, not about the Republican Party.
- 16:26Speaker 1: He's certainly not about America.
- 16:28Speaker 9: It's all about mac Gates.
- 16:29Speaker 1: It's all about Matt Gates. That seems to be the
- 16:32Speaker 1: consensus by a lot of Republicans. Remember, if it wasn't
- 16:39Speaker 1: for the eight Republicans voting with all of the Democrats,
- 16:42Speaker 1: they couldn't do this. So these bigs Bucks, Birchett, Crane, Gates,
- 16:46Speaker 1: Good Mace, Rosendale, they all voted with Democrats to make
- 16:50Speaker 1: this happen. And there are a lot of Congress people
- 16:53Speaker 1: now and I really don't think Gates cares. He loves
- 16:58Speaker 1: this limelight, this moment, and he's going to enjoy every
- 17:04Speaker 1: part of this. Kevin McCarthy, I gotta go back to
- 17:11Speaker 1: what he said now, I've made peace with it. Kevin
- 17:14Speaker 1: McCarthy says, I will not seek to regain the Speaker's gavel.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I've made peace with it. That's my plan. You guys
- 17:22Speaker 1: can have it. The house is on fire. Knock yourself
- 17:25Speaker 1: out right.
- 17:26Speaker 2: That's ended up being the fifty fifth Speaker of the
- 17:29Speaker 2: House one of the greatest honors. I loved every minute.
- 17:33Speaker 2: And the one thing I will tell you is doing
- 17:37Speaker 2: the right thing isn't always easy, but it is necessary.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I don't regret standing up for choosing governing over grievance.
- 17:49Speaker 2: It is my responsibility, it is my job. I do
- 17:53Speaker 2: not regret negotiating. Our government is designed to find compromise.
- 17:58Speaker 2: I don't regret my efforts to build coalitions and find solutions.
- 18:04Speaker 2: I was raised to solve problems, not create them. So
- 18:08Speaker 2: I may have lost a vote today, but as I
- 18:11Speaker 2: walk out of this chamber, I feel fortunate to have
- 18:13Speaker 2: served the American people. I leave the Speakership with a
- 18:17Speaker 2: sense of pride, accomplishment, and yes optimism. From the day
- 18:22Speaker 2: I enter politics, my mission has always been to make
- 18:25Speaker 2: tomorrow better than today. I fought for what I believe in,
- 18:29Speaker 2: and I believe in this country of America. My goals
- 18:34Speaker 2: have not changed. My ability to fight is just in
- 18:39Speaker 2: a different form. You need two eighteens. Unfortunately, four percent
- 18:44Speaker 2: of our conference can join all the Democrats and dictate
- 18:48Speaker 2: who can be the Republican speaker in this House. I
- 18:52Speaker 2: don't think that rule is good for the institution, but
- 18:56Speaker 2: apparently I'm the only one. I can continue to fight.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Maybe in a different manner. I will not run for
- 19:04Speaker 2: speaker again. I'll have the conference pick somebody else. I
- 19:10Speaker 2: hope you realize that every day I did the job,
- 19:12Speaker 2: regardless whether you underestimated me or not, I wanted to
- 19:16Speaker 2: do it. With a smile. I grew to enjoy you,
- 19:20Speaker 2: even on your toughest days and your questions. I could
- 19:24Speaker 2: always tell what day it was based upon your question.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Monday you would ask if I could pass the bill.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Tuesday was whether the rule would pass. Wednesday was the
- 19:35Speaker 2: greatest challenge ever to my speakership. And Thursday, when we
- 19:39Speaker 2: passed the bill, you didn't think it was a very
- 19:40Speaker 2: big deal. And it'll all started again on Friday. Yeah,
- 19:47Speaker 2: you know, I wouldn't change a thing. I do believe
- 19:57Speaker 2: I got a new portrait in there too, of Teddy Roosevelt.
- 20:00Speaker 2: You all know the man in the arena, one of
- 20:03Speaker 2: my favorite parts of it. Who errors, who comes up
- 20:05Speaker 2: short again and again, but there is no effort without
- 20:08Speaker 2: error and shortcoming. Who spends himself in a worthy cause,
- 20:11Speaker 2: who knows the triumph of high achievement, and if he fails,
- 20:14Speaker 2: at least he fails well daring greatly. I always like
- 20:20Speaker 2: to take a risk.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I always like to take a risk. Kevin McCarthy will
- 20:27Speaker 1: not seek to regain a speaker's gabble. He made that clear.
- 20:31Speaker 1: That were his closing remarks, basically saying my good luck.
- 20:36Speaker 1: He also alluded to maybe just leaving Congress saying I
- 20:41Speaker 1: believe I can continue to fight, maybe in a different manner.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I think there's a very good chance he's going to
- 20:48Speaker 1: cash out of Washington and he'll cash right back in
- 20:51Speaker 1: as a lobbyist and make a killing. He's probably if
- 20:55Speaker 1: i'm again, and this is the Kevin McCarthy that I
- 20:58Speaker 1: know my gut is exactly what he's going to do.
- 21:03Speaker 1: It's one hundred percent what he's going to do. I'm
- 21:06Speaker 1: gonna cash in. I'm gonna make a bunch of money.
- 21:10Speaker 1: You guys didn't let me do it the way I
- 21:12Speaker 1: wanted to, and therefore this is what I've got moving forward.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I wish this wouldn't have happened this way. I think
- 21:23Speaker 1: the timing was terrible. I think giving a free pass
- 21:30Speaker 1: to Hunter Biden on the days in Federal Court and
- 21:33Speaker 1: in the Republican Party, giving this news cycle to the
- 21:36Speaker 1: media and the Democrats was just amazing. I think there's
- 21:40Speaker 1: a bunch of people out there that are just totally
- 21:42Speaker 1: out to lunch and how it's so unrealistic about reality.
- 21:46Speaker 1: An example of that is this draft Trump movement. Donald
- 21:49Speaker 1: Trump doesn't want to be Speaker of the House. I
- 21:51Speaker 1: want to make that clear. Yet there is a bunch
- 21:53Speaker 1: of people that are obsessed with it. I mean there's
- 21:57Speaker 1: a bunch of people that are obsessed with something that,
- 22:00Speaker 1: let me say, this way is not going to happen.
- 22:04Speaker 1: And there are people that love this idea of oh,
- 22:06Speaker 1: let's put Trump in there. It's not going to happen.
- 22:08Speaker 1: We look dumb when we have conversations about things that
- 22:12Speaker 1: aren't going to happen. Last not on Hannity, this was
- 22:15Speaker 1: what they.
- 22:16Speaker 5: Said history on Capitol Hill tonight, eight Republican lawmakers joining
- 22:22Speaker 5: all two hundred and eight House Democrats to remove Kevin
- 22:25Speaker 5: McCarthy as House Speaker the first time in our nation's history.
- 22:28Speaker 5: And McCarthy will not seek the speakership again now, sources
- 22:33Speaker 5: telling me at this hour some House Republicans have been
- 22:36Speaker 5: in contact with and have started an effort to draft
- 22:40Speaker 5: former President Donald Trump to be the next speaker. And
- 22:44Speaker 5: I have been told that President Trump might be open
- 22:48Speaker 5: to helping the Republican Party at least in the short term,
- 22:51Speaker 5: if necessary, if it's needed anyway. But here's former Speaker
- 22:56Speaker 5: McCarthy earlier tonight. Let's take a look.
- 22:59Speaker 2: I believe I can continue.
- 23:00Speaker 1: To I want to just say when we start off
- 23:06Speaker 1: by saying these things like right that, well there's a
- 23:10Speaker 1: plan to draft him, it will not happen. We look stupid,
- 23:16Speaker 1: we look incompetent. This is a problem. The RNC chair
- 23:23Speaker 1: has come out saying that the American people are the
- 23:26Speaker 1: ones who really lost yesterday. Their business isn't being done
- 23:30Speaker 1: when Washington is shut down. I can't disagree with that,
- 23:38Speaker 1: so we better get our act together quick. Matt Gates
- 23:42Speaker 1: had his day, he made his point right, but the
- 23:46Speaker 1: idea that we can somehow do this and win is
- 23:48Speaker 1: a disaster. The RNC chairwoman saying exactly that. I agree.
- 23:51Speaker 11: Listen, you play Matt Gates and the rebels on the
- 23:55Speaker 11: conservative side should they have not taken this step in
- 23:58Speaker 11: their frustration.
- 24:00Speaker 6: I'm going to be a happy warrior like Kevin McCarthy,
- 24:03Speaker 6: and I'm going to say, let's just get the business
- 24:05Speaker 6: of the American people done. Let's get this speaker vote done.
- 24:08Speaker 6: Let's make sure we don't have this motion to vacate
- 24:10Speaker 6: so we don't have chaos again. We can't do this
- 24:13Speaker 6: next year. We cannot do this and win. If this
- 24:16Speaker 6: happens again, we are jeopardizing a very small House majority.
- 24:20Speaker 6: What I will say to the individuals who did this yesterday,
- 24:22Speaker 6: who were fundraising through the whole process, I really hope
- 24:25Speaker 6: that every dollar they raise they give to those eighteen
- 24:29Speaker 6: Republicans sitting in districts that Biden won, because those are
- 24:33Speaker 6: the people who they put in jeopardy yesterday. When we're
- 24:35Speaker 6: not talking about Biden, we are not winning, and we
- 24:38Speaker 6: need to be talking about the failure of the Biden
- 24:40Speaker 6: administration every single day and what we're going to do
- 24:44Speaker 6: to make the lives of the American people doing here.
- 24:46Speaker 11: You Rona, you said it. We'll leave it right there.
- 24:50Speaker 11: Thank you so much for joining us. We really do
- 24:52Speaker 11: appreciate it. On a momentous day, no doubt. In the
- 24:55Speaker 11: aftermath of mccafee being booted out to Speaker.
- 25:00Speaker 1: She says it, and I agree with her, we cannot
- 25:02Speaker 1: win doing this. If this happens again, we are jeopardizing
- 25:07Speaker 1: a very small House majority, and the American people will
- 25:10Speaker 1: not vote for this next year. She is right on that.
- 25:16Speaker 1: So did we get rid of somebody we want to
- 25:19Speaker 1: get rid of? Yeah. Senator John Kennedy, he was asked
- 25:23Speaker 1: about this and the House side, and he gave some
- 25:27Speaker 1: excellent advice. Senator John Kennedy is a man that I
- 25:30Speaker 1: have a ton of respect for, a man that I've
- 25:32Speaker 1: got to spend some time with recently, and he's really
- 25:36Speaker 1: smart and understands this country and the average American. He
- 25:40Speaker 1: was asked about the House side of things. He's a senator.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Here's what he said his advice, and it's spot on.
- 25:46Speaker 8: I don't have a lot of advice for my House
- 25:49Speaker 8: colleagues other than this, follow your heart, but take your
- 25:58Speaker 8: brain with you. The American people expect us to govern,
- 26:07Speaker 8: and in order to govern, you have to have a leadership,
- 26:12Speaker 8: and you've got to stick with that leadership to give
- 26:15Speaker 8: that leadership a chance. I'd also advise all of my
- 26:22Speaker 8: House colleagues to be sure and take their mins.
- 26:29Speaker 1: This is a hardcore conservative that's saying that, and a
- 26:32Speaker 1: hardcore conservative that's saying get it together. In the nicest way,
- 26:37Speaker 1: we possibly can't get it together. Brian kill Meat over
- 26:44Speaker 1: at Fox had a sparring match with Representative Burchett, one
- 26:48Speaker 1: of those eight. I want you to hear part of
- 26:50Speaker 1: their conversation.
- 26:51Speaker 7: Dam I read your quote.
- 26:54Speaker 2: You said you're going to pray about it. I want
- 26:55Speaker 2: to talk to you about it, and somehow he construes
- 26:57Speaker 2: that I'm a Christian. I'm not going to offend somebody
- 26:59Speaker 2: from I simply read his quote back. I thought there
- 27:02Speaker 2: was still an opening, and I wanted to talk to
- 27:04Speaker 2: him about it. He never mentioned anything when we are
- 27:07Speaker 2: communicating like that.
- 27:09Speaker 12: So you said, you said, part of the reason he
- 27:11Speaker 12: voted like that is because you felt he was mocking
- 27:13Speaker 12: you correct, so with person.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's and that's not accurate, and that's any
- 27:17Speaker 4: of that. I asked him about the six weeks off.
- 27:19Speaker 4: I asked him about, wow, we didn't have a term
- 27:21Speaker 4: limits bill up and continued on down the line, and
- 27:24Speaker 4: it was always not his fault. You know, leadership has responsibilities.
- 27:28Speaker 4: The butt stopped somewhere, and in the House of Representatives,
- 27:31Speaker 4: it stop stops and starts at the Speaker's office. And
- 27:34Speaker 4: clearly that's not happening, and clearly you know you don't
- 27:37Speaker 4: want to continue to make excuses for him. But the
- 27:40Speaker 4: truth is his his approval writing around the country was
- 27:43Speaker 4: not very high. And I do not I don't represent
- 27:46Speaker 4: the people of Congress. I represent the people in time.
- 27:48Speaker 1: I got it.
- 27:49Speaker 12: What do you think is going to do for the
- 27:50Speaker 12: Republican Party and chances of holding on to leadership and
- 27:52Speaker 12: the majority when it looks like you having You're the
- 27:55Speaker 12: ring leader of a circus led by Matt Gates who
- 27:58Speaker 12: likes to blow things up but not offer any new ideas.
- 28:01Speaker 12: Are you happy following Matt Gates? Is that your leader?
- 28:04Speaker 4: I'm not following Matt Gates. I made my own decision.
- 28:07Speaker 4: I didn't ask.
- 28:08Speaker 12: But if Mat Gates didn't challenge, you weren't going to challenge?
- 28:12Speaker 12: Do what if Matt Gates didn't stand up? You were
- 28:14Speaker 12: going to challenge?
- 28:15Speaker 4: You know what I believe, I believe I would have
- 28:17Speaker 4: And they're, well, please, are you're praying.
- 28:20Speaker 7: About it one minute?
- 28:21Speaker 12: The next minute you're going to lead an insurgency.
- 28:23Speaker 4: So you don't think that praying about it's important? Is
- 28:26Speaker 4: that what you're saying?
- 28:28Speaker 12: You going to vote with Matt Gates and the next
- 28:30Speaker 12: minute you're going to lead an insurgency.
- 28:33Speaker 4: Listen, you got to predetermined answer to everything.
- 28:36Speaker 12: No I have I have an opinion about what's going on?
- 28:39Speaker 7: Do you have an opinion too?
- 28:40Speaker 4: And you talk over me every time I try to
- 28:42Speaker 4: make it.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Make your point?
- 28:44Speaker 4: The point is is that we're thirty three trillion dollars
- 28:47Speaker 4: in debt. This speaker was woefully, woefully lacking in leadership skills.
- 28:52Speaker 4: He always plays to blame somewhere else. America is going
- 28:55Speaker 4: to be better off with new leadership. Who is it
- 28:59Speaker 4: that probably be Possibly it could be Steve Scalise, It
- 29:01Speaker 4: could be Alisa Deefan, It could be Roger Williams out
- 29:03Speaker 4: of Texas. It could be Mark Green out of Tennessee.
- 29:08Speaker 12: So they supported the old supported Kevin McCarthy, including the
- 29:11Speaker 12: most conservative guy I know, Jim Jordan. Why are you
- 29:14Speaker 12: smarter than Jim Jordan? And the two hundred and ten
- 29:19Speaker 12: plus Republicans? Why are you smarter?
- 29:21Speaker 4: I represent my district, brother, and why are you smarter
- 29:24Speaker 4: than me? You're condemning me because I'm just saying to
- 29:26Speaker 4: stand up on my own and that's I'm not condemning you.
- 29:29Speaker 1: I'm questioning you.
- 29:30Speaker 4: You don't like being question now, You're just the line
- 29:34Speaker 4: of questioning is very negative. And you know that, and
- 29:36Speaker 4: I know that you. And when this is all over with,
- 29:39Speaker 4: when this is all over with and we have a
- 29:41Speaker 4: new speaker and we're running smooth, let's have this conversation again.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Were you happy with John Bainner.
- 29:47Speaker 4: I wasn't here with John bamer with Paul Ryan. They're
- 29:52Speaker 4: both rhinos. I mean, why do you they're not. They're
- 29:54Speaker 4: not in my camp anyway, So but I wasn't here
- 29:57Speaker 4: when they were here.
- 29:58Speaker 1: So you at.
- 29:59Speaker 12: Fifteen yes for every round you voted with Ken McCarthy.
- 30:03Speaker 12: But you think he's the.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Problem right now, I sure do. It's part of it.
- 30:07Speaker 4: He's part of this, this whole problem. When you don't
- 30:10Speaker 4: when you deny that there's a problem, when in this
- 30:13Speaker 4: dysfunctional Washington brother that you know there's a problem, you
- 30:17Speaker 4: can't problem. You can't take get past the fact we
- 30:21Speaker 4: take in five trillion, we spend seven trillion, and this
- 30:24Speaker 4: and and leadership.
- 30:26Speaker 12: I'm thanks, I say the way you blame Kevin McCarthy
- 30:29Speaker 12: that you're that you're thirty three.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Trillion dollars in debt. But you're going to get a
- 30:33Speaker 1: new leader.
- 30:33Speaker 12: I'm sure he's going to solve everything.
- 30:35Speaker 4: Well, I'm surprised that you get him full credit for
- 30:37Speaker 4: all the successes because we nine months.
- 30:41Speaker 12: I don't think you should take all the blame.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Well, why why are we backing it up? We had
- 30:45Speaker 4: nine months exactly. That's a great point. Why don't we
- 30:48Speaker 4: wait nine months to do something about the wall? Something
- 30:51Speaker 4: about the budget, something about well we never did anything
- 30:53Speaker 4: about termline.
- 30:54Speaker 8: I switch.
- 30:54Speaker 7: I watched him for fifteen minutes.
- 30:56Speaker 12: He was doing he was doing an awful up and
- 30:58Speaker 12: not enough for you.
- 30:59Speaker 1: This, by the way, is what we're dealing with now
- 31:01Speaker 1: in this country. Makes you share this podcast with your
- 31:04Speaker 1: family and friends, and I'll see you back here tomorrow
