- 0:05Hey guys, welcome to another episode of Aligned and Thriving
- 0:09for Teachers. I'm really excited for this one.
- 0:13It took me a little while to sort of get my thoughts
- 0:15together, but I think this is going to be a good one.
- 0:19And I'm I have really high hopes.
- 0:20And if you listen to my last podcast, that was about having
- 0:23hope. So I have a lot of hope and
- 0:25faith in myself here that I can do this justice, but I just
- 0:28think it's something that is really good to talk about.
- 0:31So let's settle into that comfy spot.
- 0:34Or if you're on a walk, keep me playing in your ears because you
- 0:37love the sound of my voice. I'm just beaming with confidence
- 0:40right now. But this is pure gold.
- 0:43So this episode is talking about acting as if and how it all ties
- 0:50into manifesting through the law of attraction.
- 0:53But I just want you to imagine that This Is Us chatting over a
- 0:55coffee 'cause this is real. This is real talk.
- 0:58So acting as if and the law of attraction when we act as if
- 1:05we're not just playing make believe.
- 1:07OK, It's not like your little Kitty playing games.
- 1:10We're actually aligning with the frequency of our future selves.
- 1:13The virgin, the virgin. Oh my gosh, the version.
- 1:17Oh, I can't talk sometimes. Forgive me.
- 1:20Now that's just gonna resonate in your head.
- 1:22See, if we were talking over coffee like we should be, then
- 1:26that would be just a little laughable moment.
- 1:28So rewind and we'll go back. But this is about the version of
- 1:33us that already has what we want, and it's pretty amazing.
- 1:39Jordana Levine, our Levin, I apologise if I don't say her
- 1:43name right, but this is teacher life.
- 1:45We never get everyone's names right.
- 1:47But she puts it so well. That manifestation is
- 1:50essentially about taking ownership of your future.
- 1:53Things are not happening to you, you are making them happen.
- 1:59This is the whole idea of the life of your dreams, like life
- 2:04happens for you, it doesn't happen to you, it happens for
- 2:09you. And that's exactly what we're
- 2:11acting as, if we're making a conscious choice to step into
- 2:14the ownership of our life right now.
- 2:18There's another author I want to quote to, I think her name, how
- 2:22you say it is Roxy Nefusi. And she teaches that our
- 2:27thoughts, emotions, and feelings are all made up of energy and we
- 2:32attract back to us the frequency that we put out.
- 2:37If we alter our thoughts, we can alter, alter our vibration and
- 2:41ultimately our reality. So when you're acting as if and
- 2:45you're using your thoughts, your feelings, and your actions are
- 2:48all aligned with whatever goal you're working towards, you're
- 2:51essentially tuning your energy to attract more of that
- 2:55frequency. And it's pretty cool.
- 2:58My nan years ago, like she would know nothing about this stuff
- 3:02but my nan's secret. So you remember my nan growing
- 3:04up? I've told you.
- 3:05I may have told you about her before, but I thought she had
- 3:08this. Excuse me.
- 3:10Excuse me. I need to clean my throat.
- 3:13I thought she had unshakable confidence.
- 3:16Like, to me, she was one of the most confident women I had ever
- 3:21met or known. But it turns out she was
- 3:25literally just acting as if deep down she was utterly scared.
- 3:31But she would take a deep breath, square shoulders, and
- 3:35would just walk into a room as if she belonged there and as if
- 3:39she knew everyone. They were all her friends.
- 3:41She had nothing to hide. She wasn't shy, she wasn't
- 3:44anything. She would just dominate the
- 3:46room. That is true confidence.
- 3:49There wasn't an absence of nerves, they were there, but she
- 3:52would just move through them. And I like to do what she does
- 3:56and I do it all the time, especially before appeal.
- 3:59I have to tell myself I'm gonna show up like Beyoncé.
- 4:03Even if I feel like I'm shaking, my knees will be shaking, I'll
- 4:06be sweating profusely under my top.
- 4:08Like seriously. And I'm so nervous, but I just
- 4:12show up and I act as if I've got this.
- 4:15Because sometimes you don't realise but you actually do.
- 4:19But I've never had that sort of confidence like I thought I had.
- 4:23But I learnt from my nan and now I know she was just acting as if
- 4:27it's a whole thing. And then you get this idea of 10
- 4:30seconds of courage. It all starts with 10 seconds of
- 4:33insane courage. That little spark that just gets
- 4:37the magic flowing. A friend of mine posted as if
- 4:41she had thousands of followers before anyone even knew who she
- 4:45was and they just came and now she has thousands of followers.
- 4:49If you're trying to land a new job, you just act like you
- 4:52belong and within a week you probably do.
- 4:55That's the thing. Like I walk into a new role and
- 4:57I act like I know what I'm doing and eventually I actually do.
- 5:01Don't give everyone my secrets though.
- 5:04If you're walking into a gym class, oh, which I've done many
- 5:07times before and you really pretend like you've got this,
- 5:10but by the end you're probably in utter pain and agony, but
- 5:14you've smashed it and you feel like you're a pro.
- 5:17It's those mini little acting as if moments to help shift your
- 5:22vibration and open opportunities.
- 5:26So, and, and this is the thing, like I'm talking about my
- 5:29grandparents a lot because you can learn a lot from people who
- 5:31have lived an amazing life. My Alma was another one of those
- 5:35people. I've got some really amazing
- 5:37women in my life. Guys like if we're talking over
- 5:39coffee, my nan was an absolute legend.
- 5:41My Alma was true. And my mom, who's still alive
- 5:45and thriving is just as amazing as these two women.
- 5:48But my alma was a big one for 10 Seconds of Courage.
- 5:52She was one who would always say to me, what's the worst that
- 5:54could happen? Just go ask the question.
- 5:57If they say no, who cares? At least you tried or apply for
- 6:01the job. If you don't give it a go,
- 6:03you're not going to know or you're not going to get feedback
- 6:05to do better next time. So why not just go and try the
- 6:09thing and then you'll know for next time?
- 6:12Or at least you could act as if and then you, if you actually
- 6:15get it well done, what are you going to do then?
- 6:18Like hello, onwards and upwards. So I've been brought up with
- 6:22these strong influential people in my life telling me just go
- 6:27and act as if have some courage and get it done.
- 6:31Because eventually life's gonna happen for you and everything's
- 6:35just gonna work out because I've made that conscious effort to
- 6:38move and shift my vibration and it opens up all of those
- 6:41opportunities. So your and I know some people
- 6:46might not believe in the whole manifesting thing, but you are
- 6:49doing it every day without even naming it up for yourself.
- 6:53If you are a person who's driving around and going I want
- 6:56a car park and it's going to be right there and you drive around
- 6:58the corner and there it is, congratulations, you've just
- 7:01manifested your car park. If you walk in with your Lotto
- 7:05ticket in your hand and go, yeah, this has got some money on
- 7:07it and you hand it to the lady and it has 5 bucks, guess what,
- 7:10You're abundant. You've just manifested.
- 7:12Congratulations. It is all those little things
- 7:15that all add up and so you are basically practising
- 7:19manifestation and you are doing it if you're acting as if.
- 7:24So how do you do that? Well #1 visualise and embody
- 7:29your future self today. You need to act like them, dress
- 7:34like them, speak like them. Now I'm not saying go and if you
- 7:39wanted to be a certain type of person, go and throw everything
- 7:42out of your wardrobe. Buy a whole new wardrobe and do
- 7:44this, that and the other. No, just start with little
- 7:46things, little things that are future.
- 7:49So if I'm talking about me, future male's going to wear
- 7:52those tights. So I might save up and buy those
- 7:55tights because future male is going to wear them because they
- 7:58are going to be better quality, they're going to last longer,
- 8:01they're going to be more comfortable.
- 8:03I can do so much more in them. You might do something like
- 8:05that, or it might be that you just act like, oh, future male's
- 8:09really confident. So I'm just going to start
- 8:11pretending and acting as if I'm really confident.
- 8:16So you do that #2 align your thoughts and your feelings with
- 8:23what you want. So I'm going to quote Roxy
- 8:27again. And like she says, your thoughts
- 8:29create vibration and the vibration creates reality.
- 8:33Now, I've read lots and lots of books.
- 8:35I'm an avid reader. I may be an avid reader, slash
- 8:38listener, you know, Audible, like listen to your books,
- 8:41listen to a podcast, read. I have lots of books, but the
- 8:45one I'm quoting is called Manifest and it's 7 Steps to
- 8:48Living Your Best Life by Roxy Nefusi.
- 8:52I think that's how you say it and it's just really super
- 8:56simple. The same as the one by Jordana
- 8:58is called Make It Happen. It's all these little things
- 9:01that all add up that you're probably already doing, you just
- 9:04didn't realise and it starts to become your reality.
- 9:08So you're making all these things happen #3 speak
- 9:13ownership. As Jordana advises.
- 9:15These things are not happening to you, you are making them
- 9:19happen. So I want you to tell yourself
- 9:22life happens for me and it's going to happen #4 feel it now,
- 9:30say it now. Change your gratitude, your
- 9:34discussion around your good things as if the good is already
- 9:37here. Like I'm so thankful for and OK,
- 9:42if you're going to quote me, I would really like to have our
- 9:46deck built for summer. So I'm so thankful for our
- 9:48beautiful deck. It's so nice being able to sit
- 9:51out there and relax in the beautiful summer sunset.
- 9:55Just little things like that. And you start to visualise that
- 9:58it's happening because you know it's going to get there.
- 10:00And then #5 take action. Even messy action like
- 10:07manifestation is intention plus action.
- 10:11It's just those little things that you might do.
- 10:14It's aligned actions, I'd like to call them because they're
- 10:18aligning with your goals. So if you have like a really big
- 10:21goal that you're trying to achieve, maybe it's like you're
- 10:24saving up for something. Your aligned actions might be
- 10:27you create yourself a savings plan and you start working
- 10:29towards that because manifestation is not what you
- 10:33think. Like click your fingers and you
- 10:35get it. No, you actually have to put in
- 10:36some work. You need to start aligning
- 10:39yourself with that. So you're matching that
- 10:41vibration. OK, does that.
- 10:43I hope that all of that makes sense because I'm quoting like a
- 10:45lot of things all in once, all in one, because that's what I've
- 10:49been learning about and doing lots of research around to make
- 10:52it really simple for you to follow.
- 10:55But that's what it is. It's all about acting as if, and
- 10:57I didn't know that I was actually doing it until I
- 11:00started reading about all these different strategies and going,
- 11:03oh, that's what I was doing or that's what Nan was doing.
- 11:06I know that now. And it's just amazing.
- 11:11So then you have this idea of affirmations and talking about
- 11:16the stuff that you have within you to act as if.
- 11:18So I'll give you some to help you help guide you in the right
- 11:22direction. But here are some really easy
- 11:24affirmations that you could be telling yourself.
- 11:27And the best thing to do with these is to literally look
- 11:29yourself in the face in the mirror or on your phone and say
- 11:32them to yourself. It's really confronting if you
- 11:36haven't done that before, but they are really good for that.
- 11:40So you're looking at yourself in the mirror and you're saying I
- 11:42already have everything I need inside me.
- 11:46I walk into every room like the person I'm becoming because I am
- 11:52her or I am them. I trust myself and I trust the
- 11:58magic of this process. I am grateful for the blessings
- 12:03already on their way. Every choice I make today
- 12:09reflects the future I'm creating.
- 12:12So as I said, there's some really good ones to help focus
- 12:16on the acting as if, and you can add in whatever affirmations you
- 12:21want. Maybe it's related to your
- 12:23class, and you can say something about the way you want to walk
- 12:27into that room, the way you want to hold that space, what type of
- 12:30a teacher you want to be, all of those things.
- 12:34Then you can maybe journal some journal prompts that you could
- 12:37write about to help get it out. So which qualities or actions
- 12:41does your future self naturally embody?
- 12:44So you've got to paint that picture of what you want future
- 12:47self to look like, be like, act like.
- 12:49What is that all about? Where could you give yourself 10
- 12:52seconds of courage today? It might be really simple.
- 12:57It might be making that phone call that you've been putting
- 12:59off and putting off because you really just don't want to do it.
- 13:03Third one, how can you speak and act as if the life you want is
- 13:08already yours? You write that down.
- 13:14What thoughts, feelings or actions might need shifting to
- 13:19help raise your vibration? Can you recall a moment that you
- 13:24acted as if in the past and what opened up for you afterwards?
- 13:30As I said to you before, like I pretty much act as if every time
- 13:33I'm doing a professional learning.
- 13:35Probably when I started doing these podcasts, I was acting as
- 13:38if I was an amazing podcaster. You never know, one day I might
- 13:42be, but at this point, I just like that.
- 13:45This feels like a conversation between friends, between you.
- 13:50You teach a bestie. Really, that's what I want it to
- 13:52be. I just want it to be real.
- 13:54And so I'm acting as if I'm already that person, and that's
- 13:59what I'm wanting you to be able to do too.
- 14:01So whenever you feel that doubt just creeping in, just remember
- 14:07you don't need to feel ready. You can just act as if you can
- 14:10take the deep breath, summon your confidence just as Nan
- 14:14taught me to do, and start living like what you want has
- 14:18already arrived. Because you can do this.
- 14:21You've got this. I've told you so many times
- 14:24before that you've got this. I mean, seriously, every
- 14:28beginning teacher has probably had to act as if they've got
- 14:31this nearly every day that they turn up to teach.
- 14:34I know I was acting as if probably my whole first year of
- 14:37teaching because when I was released from university, I
- 14:41thought I knew everything until I was in front of a class and
- 14:43went, Oh my gosh, now they're all mine.
- 14:45What am I supposed to do? You have to act as if the same
- 14:49as you have to do that in front of the parents that might be
- 14:51watching you. You are acting as if so you can
- 14:55do this because when you align your energy and you embody your
- 14:59future self and show the universe that you're ready,
- 15:02you're going to manifest the person that you're becoming or
- 15:05the person that you want to be. So who do you want to be?
- 15:07What type of a teacher do you want to be?
- 15:10Who is your future self? What are they?
- 15:12What are they doing? What is it that they want?
- 15:15You need to go and take some time to think about that and jot
- 15:20those things down so you can refer back to them.
- 15:22It's so cool when you have a journal that you can refer back
- 15:25to or a diary, whatever it might be, and go back to it like a
- 15:29year later and go, Oh my gosh, all that stuff has happened.
- 15:31I can't believe that. If you haven't got a vision
- 15:34board or something like that. I mean, I know I do, obviously
- 15:38on my vision board, I have that for like the year and then next
- 15:42year I'll look at it and go, Oh my gosh, I've actually done all
- 15:45those things because sometimes I just, it sits in the back of my
- 15:47mind and then I'm like, oh, wow, we did all these things.
- 15:51That's amazing. Or it may not happen in the way
- 15:54that you think it was going to happen.
- 15:56And it happens an even better way because the universe is just
- 16:00like rewarding you and whatever you might believe in.
- 16:04So there's got to be an, I'm a strong believer that there is
- 16:07something else. So whether it is you have faith
- 16:11in God or the universe or just whatever it may be, that's what
- 16:16we're playing into. That whole idea that you are
- 16:18acting as if and it is going to come.
- 16:22It is going to happen. Even if all you get from this
- 16:26little conversation that we've had that you're imagining that
- 16:28we're having a coffee together and we're just talking.
- 16:30If all you got out of this is to have 10 seconds of courage and
- 16:33just pretend like you've got it, then that's what I want for you.
- 16:37Because you don't know what's gonna happen when you start
- 16:39doing that. Just start taking those deep
- 16:42breaths and take the 10 seconds of courage.
- 16:45I'll tell you one more little I'll just make you laugh.
- 16:48This is a funny story. It's not really teaching
- 16:51related, but it is like 10 seconds of courage related.
- 16:54So when I met my husband, he actually crashed my own house
- 16:57warming party. He was not invited.
- 17:00He came with a friend who was invited.
- 17:01But anyway, Long story short, he had 10 seconds of courage to
- 17:06basically get the nerve to come and talk to me and the world's
- 17:11absolute greatest pick up line. And I know he doesn't listen to
- 17:15this podcast, but you I will share is that he sort of, he got
- 17:20his phone out and he goes, oh, no, my phone's got a problem.
- 17:23I said, oh, what's that? And he goes, it doesn't have
- 17:24your number in it. Yes, I fell for that because
- 17:30that was 10 seconds of courage. He had 10 seconds of courage.
- 17:33He committed to it. He did it well.
- 17:36And yes, I gave in and gave him my number.
- 17:38Obviously was a conversation that happened after that was
- 17:40like, oh, yeah, because I want to organise a motorbike ride
- 17:42because I rode, I ride. I don't anymore really, but we
- 17:45rode motorbikes and stuff. I just assumed that that's what
- 17:48it was about and that's just how the love story started really.
- 17:53But anyway, it was 10 seconds of courage and that's all it took.
- 17:57He knew what he wanted and he was going to act as if he was
- 17:59going to get it and that's where he went with that.
- 18:02He's a, he's a great manifesto actually, without him even
- 18:05knowing that that's what he's doing.
- 18:06I've named it up with him a few times and said you're actually a
- 18:09really determined human being who goes until you get sort of
- 18:12what you want, what you're aiming towards, what your goals
- 18:15are. You always go until you get
- 18:17there. I thought, yeah, that's just
- 18:19because it's going to happen. We're going to get there.
- 18:21So really good at acting as if. So if I'm going to leave you
- 18:26with that little story now, because this is a conversation
- 18:29that we were just having over a coffee, I hope, or we were on a
- 18:32walk. You might have taken me on a
- 18:34walk. So yeah, I hope you have an
- 18:37amazing rest of your day, evening, whatever time you might
- 18:40be listening. But I want you to remember to go
- 18:43and act as if. And Nyla, of course, the star of
- 18:46the show, has just popped back in to eat a chew on the floor.
- 18:52That was her racing in. So that's her 10 seconds of
- 18:54courage of being brave and entering mummy's space.
- 18:58Anyway, I want you to go out there.
- 18:59I want you to act as if you've got this because you do want you
- 19:03to take some moments of 10 seconds of courage.
- 19:05Go and reflect on those journal questions, go and have a think
- 19:09about what you want your future self to be to do all of those
- 19:13things and go and have the best day, night, whatever it might
- 19:17be. And I will talk to you again
- 19:19next time. Bye, guys.
