- 1:45Speaker 1: Rashaan McDonald MNA Making Conversations. The show I interview industry
- 1:49Speaker 1: decision makers, CEO, small businesses and your celebrities, and you
- 1:54Speaker 1: learned the secrets of their success. That's what this show
- 1:57Speaker 1: is all about. If you want to talk to me today,
- 2:00Speaker 1: are later on the street. Talk to me right now
- 2:03Speaker 1: called the hotline number eight three two two three zero
- 2:07Speaker 1: five five nine two. There's eight three two two three
- 2:10Speaker 1: zero five five nine two. Now let me tell you
- 2:13Speaker 1: who's on my show today. Every week I try to
- 2:15Speaker 1: bring on individuals who allow you to they break it down,
- 2:18Speaker 1: their secrets, their their techniques, um their setbacks, their victories
- 2:23Speaker 1: with humble them what is making them great today? Because
- 2:26Speaker 1: I think I feel you have to be humbled. You
- 2:28Speaker 1: have to have to take a step back in order
- 2:30Speaker 1: to move forward. That's just the process. If you don't
- 2:33Speaker 1: realize that you can't make it and be theres be
- 2:36Speaker 1: and and an equate that there is a failure part
- 2:40Speaker 1: and the successful equation. Then you're gonna lose. And I
- 2:43Speaker 1: don't want you to lose. That's why every Monday I'm

- 2:54Speaker 1: who's my guest today? Wow? Can I say wow? Every Monday?
- 2:59Speaker 1: I say why? Because every guest I bring on the
- 3:01Speaker 1: show brings a unique um edge to the table, a
- 3:06Speaker 1: unique style of why they're successful and why you can
- 3:10Speaker 1: be successful if you have a plan. A lot of
- 3:13Speaker 1: people jump out their own faith. I don't recommend that
- 3:16Speaker 1: unless you have a plan underneath the faith, next to
- 3:18Speaker 1: the faith, above the faith, because you cannot go on
- 3:21Speaker 1: any business plan, any life level just only emotions. It
- 3:26Speaker 1: has to be driven by something because emotion is not sustainable. Emotion.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Let me say that one more time. Emotion is not sustainable.
- 3:35Speaker 1: But a plan is sustainable because it allows you to
- 3:38Speaker 1: see what you need to do when things go wrong.
- 3:41Speaker 1: My guest today is Mr j Alexander Martin, co founder
- 3:45Speaker 1: of the Fooboo Empire again j Alexander Martin, co founder
- 3:49Speaker 1: of the Foo Bou Empire, Power couple of NBA analyst
- 3:52Speaker 1: Kenney Smith and his wife, actress host Gwendland Smith, Toby

- 4:34Speaker 1: podcast type of money making conversations. My shows pop right
- 4:39Speaker 1: up very currently. Now I'm gonna starting. I'm gonna start
- 4:42Speaker 1: something new on the show. It's gonna call money Making Conversations,
- 4:46Speaker 1: small business Shoutouts. Okay, Richan, what's that money making conversation?
- 4:55Speaker 1: Small business shoutouts? I've lost the show May first, and
- 4:59Speaker 1: I've had a lot of big businesses on this show,
- 5:01Speaker 1: and I felt that, you know, I can't just interview
- 5:04Speaker 1: in one time and not let you guys understand that
- 5:07Speaker 1: they still out there. They still out there getting they
- 5:09Speaker 1: hustle on. They're still out there doing marketing. He's still
- 5:12Speaker 1: out there doing branding. So every Monday, I'm gonna shout
- 5:15Speaker 1: out for businesses and I might even repeat these businesses.
- 5:18Speaker 1: They might have something that's interesting that's happening in their game.
- 5:21Speaker 1: If it's so interesting, of course, you know, I'll bring
- 5:23Speaker 1: them back on the show for a radio interview. That's
- 5:25Speaker 1: the way we have to make it happen here. You know,
- 5:28Speaker 1: we don't just deny an opportunity. We build on the opportunity.
- 5:31Speaker 1: So again, J Jackson from Atlanta, Georgia. He launched Rise
- 5:37Speaker 1: had a great medium. The other day, Samantha Taylor and
- 5:39Speaker 1: I sat down with him and his team to talk
- 5:42Speaker 1: about Rise. That's r y s E. It's a multicultural
- 5:47Speaker 1: video on demand streaming network you know by Netflix. Where
- 5:52Speaker 1: you're gonna start knowing about Rise. That's R y s E. Now,
- 5:56Speaker 1: he surprised me because he's put my money making conversation
- 6:02Speaker 1: app on his podcast platform. I didn't even know that
- 6:05Speaker 1: was happening. I was. I was surprised and happy that
- 6:09Speaker 1: uh that he put me on there. If you go
- 6:11Speaker 1: to the go rise uh dot com page, you see
- 6:15Speaker 1: it on there, along with a lot of other interesting articles.
- 6:18Speaker 1: But again, this is J Jackson from Atlanta, Georgia. He's
- 6:22Speaker 1: originally out of Florida where he in the magazine business
- 6:25Speaker 1: down there doing his thing. Moved to Atlanta because he
- 6:28Speaker 1: felt that there was more talent available to do what
- 6:31Speaker 1: he's doing and his platform. I think it's gonna be
- 6:34Speaker 1: a hit and we will definitely be doing more things
- 6:36Speaker 1: in the future together. Jay, you know you're my man.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Had a great conversation. Appreciate the email the guy from
- 6:41Speaker 1: you this morning. Clean up that little hiccup on your
- 6:44Speaker 1: web page that now allows you to download his app
- 6:47Speaker 1: when you're out there branding or trying to find out
- 6:50Speaker 1: more about Rushan McDonald or going through his page getting
- 6:53Speaker 1: his apps downloaded. Again, J Jackson, he launched Rise that's
- 6:58Speaker 1: r Y s C. You can go download that app
- 7:01Speaker 1: right now and you understand what I'm talking about. Also,
- 7:04Speaker 1: my man, my nephew, le John Domino, Stewart. That's right,
- 7:08Speaker 1: l John. Dominique is really, but he's shortened the Domino.
- 7:12Speaker 1: You know, if you get arrested, they're gonna say Dominique.
- 7:16Speaker 1: But you know, for street purposes, he's Domino. Now. If
- 7:19Speaker 1: you ever know, I've had him on the show twice.
- 7:21Speaker 1: I'm so proud of this young man, military veteran um.
- 7:25Speaker 1: He opened a small business called Big six Barbecue. He
- 7:29Speaker 1: he learned how to barbecue while in the service or
- 7:33Speaker 1: serving our country. Skill he developed there watching my my
- 7:36Speaker 1: dad bobecu in the backyard with that big old barrel,
- 7:39Speaker 1: that fifty five fifty five gallon drum. You know. He
- 7:43Speaker 1: we cut it out, then we then we drilled some
- 7:45Speaker 1: little some little hinges over it. But that was old
- 7:48Speaker 1: school bobecue right there. You mean, fifty five gallant drum.
- 7:52Speaker 1: That that's how you bobecue back there. Put a little
- 7:55Speaker 1: racket there. We were barbecue for real. That's how he
- 7:58Speaker 1: learned how to barbecue that old school. As a little kid,
- 8:02Speaker 1: he used to watch my dad barbecue like that. That's
- 8:04Speaker 1: how I learned how to barbecue. You know, you usid
- 8:07Speaker 1: around there trying to create clean up those uh, those
- 8:10Speaker 1: those great those those those racks. You let that heat
- 8:14Speaker 1: clean those racks up, put that meat over that scrape
- 8:16Speaker 1: that bad off, and you have some ribs, you have
- 8:18Speaker 1: some links, you have some chicken. Well that's what he's
- 8:21Speaker 1: doing over there, Big Sits Barbecue. He doing it the
- 8:23Speaker 1: best way that anybody's doing it in the state of Texas,
- 8:27Speaker 1: especially in the city of Houston. Now he has a
- 8:30Speaker 1: food stand and it got damaged. It got damaged during
- 8:34Speaker 1: a hurricane Harvey, and um and so, but he's gonna reopen,
- 8:38Speaker 1: I said in the room with the designers. Um, he's
- 8:42Speaker 1: gonna he's it's gonna be a modern food stand. Um,
- 8:46Speaker 1: gonna he's gonna actually be able to fry food now,
- 8:49Speaker 1: deep friars setting up in there, gonna be he got
- 8:53Speaker 1: video cameras around there, air conditioning units in there, his
- 8:56Speaker 1: staff won't be hot. So mid December he'll reopening his
- 9:01Speaker 1: new food stand, Big six Barbecue. As my man Lejohn
- 9:05Speaker 1: Domino Stewart Dominique is his real name. But we're gonna
- 9:10Speaker 1: work with that because he's getting the shout out today
- 9:13Speaker 1: on money making conversations, small business shout out my next person.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I've been a fan of her since I first met her.
- 9:21Speaker 1: She's an inspiration to single moms. She's an inspiration to
- 9:25Speaker 1: um blended family moms. What she's doing in Atlanta as
- 9:30Speaker 1: a young businessperson is amazing with her husband, Darryl, because
- 9:34Speaker 1: he has a security service. But you know, the start
- 9:37Speaker 1: of the family is always to me, is gonna be
- 9:39Speaker 1: Lisa Triplet of Harry nine one one. That's right in Atlanta, Georgia,
- 9:45Speaker 1: Harry nine one one. Now. I know how difficult it
- 9:48Speaker 1: is to get your brand on the shelves of any
- 9:53Speaker 1: store in this country. I know how difficult it is.
- 9:56Speaker 1: It's way crazy. But guess what you get it on
- 9:59Speaker 1: any sheriff in America right now, because guess right, she's
- 10:02Speaker 1: in thirty five stores wald March stores. Hear me, thirty
- 10:07Speaker 1: five wal March stores right now. I'm not taking credit
- 10:11Speaker 1: for any of that. She did it all on her own.
- 10:14Speaker 1: I was just fortunate to have a come on my show,
- 10:17Speaker 1: not once, but twice to talk about our product. And
- 10:20Speaker 1: I just want to give her another shout out today.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Um Lisa Triplet Hair not one one and her wonderful
- 10:26Speaker 1: husband Darryl, who has an incredible security service and as
- 10:30Speaker 1: a funny comedian. But you know, I ain't gonna say
- 10:33Speaker 1: nothing about him being a really really funny comedian. I'm
- 10:36Speaker 1: gonna just say here a funny comedian. That way, you
- 10:38Speaker 1: know you can make decisions when you go see him
- 10:41Speaker 1: and now, I was really really funny. You know, I
- 10:44Speaker 1: was really really funny. So you saw me on stage,
- 10:47Speaker 1: you win every Sean mcdahn, he really you know, you
- 10:50Speaker 1: know you know you're funny when you started shaking your
- 10:52Speaker 1: head and saying the word funny. So you kind of
- 10:54Speaker 1: like reconfirming how funny that person is. That's what people
- 10:58Speaker 1: used to do to me. They said, Rachelle, you funny man.
- 11:01Speaker 1: And when they be's saying I was funny, they'll be
- 11:02Speaker 1: shaking your head simultaneously. That lets you know how funny
- 11:05Speaker 1: as your person is. So if any of you young
- 11:08Speaker 1: comedians out there, if somebody says you're funny and they're
- 11:12Speaker 1: not simultaneously shaking their head nodding yes, then they just
- 11:16Speaker 1: thank you just funny, okay, that you're just a funny person.
- 11:20Speaker 1: My last shot out was my man straight out of Brooklyn,
- 11:22Speaker 1: New York. That's Tod Jones, the Donutologists. I know I've
- 11:27Speaker 1: been up there and Cousins doesn't I walked in there.
- 11:30Speaker 1: He didn't even know I was coming up there, and
- 11:32Speaker 1: I was on the radio. I was on the radio
- 11:36Speaker 1: up there in Brooklyn, New York. He would reach out,
- 11:39Speaker 1: took some pictures with him. Big fan of him. Cousins
- 11:42Speaker 1: Doesn't is based in Brooklyn, New York. That is a
- 11:45Speaker 1: wonderful situation. So those my shout outs today. Jay Jackson
- 11:49Speaker 1: straight out Atlanta, Georgia. He launched Rise, a multicultural video
- 11:53Speaker 1: on demand streaming network. Le John Domino Stewart from Houston, Texas,
- 11:59Speaker 1: he launched Big six Barbecue. His his successful barbecue food
- 12:03Speaker 1: stand was damaged by Hurricane Harvey, but we're reopened in
- 12:06Speaker 1: mid December of this year. Lisa Triplet from Atlanta, Georgia.
- 12:10Speaker 1: She launched Hair nine one, one her own brand of
- 12:14Speaker 1: hair extensions, and we are now available in thirty five
- 12:18Speaker 1: Walt March stores nationwide. And my last small business shout
- 12:22Speaker 1: out on this Monday will be Todd Jones from Brooklyn,
- 12:25Speaker 1: New York, the donutologists and the owner of the very
- 12:28Speaker 1: tasty and successful Cousins Does His Donut in Brooklyn, New York. Brooklyn,
- 12:35Speaker 1: New York, Brooklyn, New York coop Now Wrapptors are segment
- 12:41Speaker 1: up because coming up next is gonna be j Alexander Uh,
- 12:44Speaker 1: co founder of the Fool Fool Food boot. If you
- 12:47Speaker 1: bu in Pop, I launched their money Making Conversations Secrets
- 12:52Speaker 1: of Success page because every quarter I'm I'm I'm gonna
- 12:56Speaker 1: just start featuring dynamics speakers and innovators who come on
- 13:01Speaker 1: my show and distribute them. So they're kind of like
- 13:04Speaker 1: audio books need for free because I went, Okay, you
- 13:07Speaker 1: know something, there's there's certain people who coming on the
- 13:10Speaker 1: show that I field have impactful things to say, and
- 13:14Speaker 1: it's kind of like a book. It's like audiobooks audio
- 13:16Speaker 1: it plays right out of my Heart radio podcast. And
- 13:20Speaker 1: so I launched it. It's on Rushan McDonald dot com.
- 13:23Speaker 1: That's www dot Rashwan McDonald dot com. It's r U
- 13:28Speaker 1: s h I O M. I launched it as a
- 13:31Speaker 1: page which features interviews by celebrities Landa Adams, George Wallace,
- 13:36Speaker 1: Willie Moore, JR. Cheff, Jarnard Wells, and entrepreneurs Robert T.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Young Blood, Molik Till, Laura Foods and a d Dolphin. Again.
- 13:47Speaker 1: That is uh. My Secrets of Success page for Money
- 13:51Speaker 1: Making Conversation is available right now. On Rushan McDonald dot com.

- 13:58Speaker 1: clicked the about and it pops right up. And just
- 14:01Speaker 1: instead of just keep trying to um you guys to
- 14:04Speaker 1: choose to win, well, they give me the wrap up.
- 14:07Speaker 1: That means that I gotta go. Coming up next my
- 14:09Speaker 1: man j Alexander uh, co founder of the Foo Boo Empire.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I'm excited. I hope you're excited. We'll be right back
- 14:16Speaker 1: from more money Making Conversations. Thank you, Hi, just ras
- 14:22Speaker 1: Sean McDonald. Welcome back to Money Making Conversations. Excited is
- 14:26Speaker 1: always on Monday to get this show started with talent
- 14:28Speaker 1: and dynamic individuals who are making a difference in the
- 14:31Speaker 1: business world. They I call them industry decision makers because
- 14:36Speaker 1: the things that they do affect not only themselves, but
- 14:39Speaker 1: thousands and often times millions of people worldwide. My first
- 14:43Speaker 1: guest is definitely that type of person. He's an entrepreneur,
- 14:47Speaker 1: fashion designer, investor, television and lifestyle executive, co founder of
- 14:52Speaker 1: Fo Boo and author of the book Money Makes Me Crazy.
- 14:56Speaker 1: How Squandered millions of dollars building the Foo Boo and
- 15:00Speaker 1: High Please welcome to Money Making conversations j Alexander Martin Hello, Hello,
- 15:09Speaker 1: hello everyone. Hey Jay, how you doing to be here?
- 15:11Speaker 1: Glad to be here? Hey man, I appreciate you taking
- 15:15Speaker 1: the time because I know who I'm talking to. Well,
- 15:19Speaker 1: let's get started here, man. First of all, we got
- 15:22Speaker 1: two breaks here, so I want to take my time
- 15:24Speaker 1: just talk about your journey, because that's what this show
- 15:26Speaker 1: is all about. And that's what I appreciated about your
- 15:28Speaker 1: book because a lot of people always see the end game,
- 15:32Speaker 1: and the end game is you know, they see people successful,
- 15:35Speaker 1: But that beginning game is what is so key to
- 15:38Speaker 1: making you successful. Am I correct in making that statement? No,
- 15:42Speaker 1: you very much correct, very much correct. And the actually
- 15:46Speaker 1: to add to that, there's also another part of it
- 15:49Speaker 1: when when when you look at the end game, where
- 15:51Speaker 1: is the end game gonna be? You know, it could
- 15:53Speaker 1: never end, and sometimes it ends. You know that is
- 15:57Speaker 1: you say that. And it's really crazy because my wife
- 16:00Speaker 1: always tells me I never appreciate my success because I
- 16:05Speaker 1: don't you know, maybe I'm wrong, but I moved once
- 16:08Speaker 1: I complete a goal, I moved to the next goal.
- 16:11Speaker 1: And because I don't, I think that's how it really works.
- 16:14Speaker 1: And then then I realized what I've accomplished maybe months later,
- 16:18Speaker 1: but I never realized what I accomplished immediately because I'm
- 16:21Speaker 1: constantly readjusting the plan. I think that's where a lot
- 16:25Speaker 1: of people make a mistake on they reached their goal
- 16:28Speaker 1: and they feel, like you just said, they feel that's
- 16:30Speaker 1: it h and that's not true exactly, And that's what
- 16:36Speaker 1: you're trying to convey in your book. Correct correct now
- 16:40Speaker 1: and saying that what when you when you sat down,
- 16:43Speaker 1: Because I wanted to bring up his name because it
- 16:45Speaker 1: was very instrumental, Ted mc mcmc lineman, Ted mcgomo, Now
- 16:51Speaker 1: you said when you read his book, it changed your
- 16:54Speaker 1: whole focus, your whole approach to how you looked at
- 16:58Speaker 1: how you have been handling money. How get somebody you
- 17:00Speaker 1: successful that when you read this book now, it wasn't
- 17:03Speaker 1: like back in ninety two, No, you're successful not. Why
- 17:07Speaker 1: Why can I can read the book? Because I want
- 17:09Speaker 1: to let people know that you can. It's never too
- 17:11Speaker 1: late in the game to re educate yourself or educate
- 17:14Speaker 1: yourself and adjust how you doing business. How could he
- 17:17Speaker 1: have to have that big of an impact on you? Well, basically,
- 17:20Speaker 1: you know, I came up in the world of of
- 17:23Speaker 1: of of of people, you know, kind of show me.
- 17:27Speaker 1: You know, everything is about show what I have, Show
- 17:30Speaker 1: what you do? You know, prove what you could do.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Um you know, spend, spend, spend, you know, marketing, marketing, marketing.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I mean I remember going the F I T and
- 17:39Speaker 1: and I was in the buying program buying merchandise and program,
- 17:43Speaker 1: and and all my peers were in the merchant of
- 17:46Speaker 1: marketing department, you know, going to school for the marketers.
- 17:49Speaker 1: And I never really understood that. But again, you know
- 17:52Speaker 1: what I would do is I would you know, when
- 17:54Speaker 1: when we start first started making more a bunch of money,
- 17:56Speaker 1: first thing I want to do is go out. First
- 17:58Speaker 1: thing I want to do is go out and buy stuff.
- 18:00Speaker 1: You know, all the things I've never had, you know,
- 18:02Speaker 1: all the things that you know, my parents lever was
- 18:05Speaker 1: able to get me. You know I've had I've had.
- 18:07Speaker 1: You know, if if you grew up in a household
- 18:10Speaker 1: with only one of two TVs, you know, and you
- 18:13Speaker 1: have to share it, you know, first thing you do
- 18:15Speaker 1: is when you get your your first home, is you
- 18:16Speaker 1: put a TV in every room. Ain't with that, you know,
- 18:21Speaker 1: you know, but but there's nothing wrong with that. But
- 18:22Speaker 1: then it comes to a point where there where you
- 18:25Speaker 1: have to draw the line and and and do things differently.
- 18:30Speaker 1: And one the value of that book of tem mcliman's book,
- 18:34Speaker 1: um And and the Corporation, the collaboration between us two
- 18:37Speaker 1: was the fact that he made me understand that I
- 18:39Speaker 1: was a spender. Wow, who once you once your blind
- 18:46Speaker 1: phones took the right so they again. You know, if
- 18:50Speaker 1: you as you say, if you're at it, you know,
- 18:52Speaker 1: once you understand that that's what you are, then you
- 18:54Speaker 1: could begin to kind of help and and and and
- 18:57Speaker 1: change your problem or change the situation. I had to
- 19:00Speaker 1: understand that what I don't you know, I just couldn't
- 19:04Speaker 1: take momm My money came in and I just had
- 19:07Speaker 1: to kind of give it to somebody else to kind
- 19:09Speaker 1: of manage, because if not, it's all going right, right right,
- 19:13Speaker 1: And I'm gonna tell you something, right, you're not along
- 19:16Speaker 1: in that journey. I remember when I was going up
- 19:18Speaker 1: through the television started getting bigger and bigger than the
- 19:21Speaker 1: money was bigger, you know. I remember one time I
- 19:23Speaker 1: had like three Mercedes, you know, I had I had
- 19:26Speaker 1: I had the email, I had the email sup to
- 19:30Speaker 1: AMG version and just a regular email and then I
- 19:34Speaker 1: had a three three three twenty. It was like, okay,
- 19:39Speaker 1: why are you why are you driving all these vehicles?
- 19:41Speaker 1: And you can't drive all these vehicles? So so but
- 19:44Speaker 1: what but what? What? What? Because I want to be
- 19:47Speaker 1: honest with with my listeners and also with you, because
- 19:49Speaker 1: I think were connected a little bit, because I was
- 19:51Speaker 1: just driven by just because I could buy it, and
- 19:57Speaker 1: and that's dangerous. Correct, yes, very much, angels. And I
- 20:00Speaker 1: can tell you even in a small, small tale, Um,
- 20:05Speaker 1: I writing a book about you know, just going to
- 20:07Speaker 1: a hotel and you go and you just go to
- 20:10Speaker 1: the mini bar, right and you go to the mini bar,
- 20:13Speaker 1: and you think, okay, because of convenience, Hey, I'm just
- 20:15Speaker 1: gonna just take I'm gonna take this this bottle of
- 20:17Speaker 1: little little bottle of liquor. But that same little bottle
- 20:20Speaker 1: look is the same prices as a three leader. You know,
- 20:26Speaker 1: you think about it because convenience, you just do it.
- 20:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something, man, I was just I'm
- 20:32Speaker 1: in Houston right now. I was in l A this
- 20:35Speaker 1: weekend and we were staying at Intercontinental Hotel. And so
- 20:40Speaker 1: this is just so funny you say that because I
- 20:42Speaker 1: looked at the mini bar, and I wanted one of
- 20:44Speaker 1: those some Eminem's and peanuts, and that Eminem's and peanuts
- 20:49Speaker 1: was five dollars in that room. I just got pushed
- 20:53Speaker 1: my button, went down the hotel and got it for
- 20:55Speaker 1: a dollar and it looked concessious, stand right, and it's
- 20:59Speaker 1: out of the hotel. So so it's like, you know,
- 21:02Speaker 1: you said, well, if you got to spend it, but
- 21:03Speaker 1: if you why just take the time to readjust your
- 21:06Speaker 1: thought part them, because if you wasted it on a
- 21:08Speaker 1: candy bar or ten dollar beer or eight dollar sprite
- 21:13Speaker 1: out of that refrigerator in the hotel, that means that
- 21:16Speaker 1: you're making that same area r elsewhere in your in
- 21:19Speaker 1: your financial planning. Correct, correct, correct, And I'm not I'm
- 21:23Speaker 1: not claiming to be and no, no am I claiming
- 21:25Speaker 1: to be or saying that I'm you know, some big,
- 21:27Speaker 1: you know, master wiz when it comes to money. That's
- 21:30Speaker 1: why again, like why I hooked up with Ted, you know,
- 21:32Speaker 1: Ted is more, you know, more, more, more of that.
- 21:36Speaker 1: But what I did have to understand is, okay, j
- 21:40Speaker 1: if you want to have money for the rest of
- 21:41Speaker 1: your life and you then you need to take of
- 21:44Speaker 1: something else. They're changing the value taking away. You know,
- 21:48Speaker 1: I laughed because you never saying this is that you
- 21:52Speaker 1: are me and I'm you, because because it took me
- 21:55Speaker 1: a minute and I was going, like, who am I
- 21:57Speaker 1: competing with? You know, because obviously when you're into that
- 22:00Speaker 1: kind of money, you have to say, who are you
- 22:02Speaker 1: competing with? You? You're obviously competing with somebody. If you're
- 22:05Speaker 1: spending money ridiculously like this, you know, just just you know,
- 22:09Speaker 1: whatever whatever in your pocket, you know you're you're spending it.
- 22:13Speaker 1: It's not even standing there, it's just goals. And so
- 22:16Speaker 1: so my turning point for me was just to be
- 22:19Speaker 1: honest with myself and to be honest with what you're
- 22:22Speaker 1: doing is stupid. I had to tell myself, you're stupid, Rashan,
- 22:27Speaker 1: this makes no sense what you're doing. You're stupid, and
- 22:30Speaker 1: that when I when I made that confession to myself,
- 22:32Speaker 1: it really helped me. It really helped me. And what
- 22:36Speaker 1: I know that the book helped you, the relationship with
- 22:38Speaker 1: Ted helped you. But what were the honest statements that
- 22:41Speaker 1: you made to yourself that turned you around? Well, I mean, listen, honestly,
- 22:47Speaker 1: the facts of facts. You look at your beck account
- 22:49Speaker 1: right at the end of the year, and and it
- 22:53Speaker 1: is nothing confair to what you had before. And then
- 22:56Speaker 1: you look at you know, if you look at the
- 22:57Speaker 1: America spresto and then basically itemized um, you know everything entertainment,
- 23:02Speaker 1: touch and and and food and you know, and and
- 23:06Speaker 1: bills and utilities and all that stuff like that. And
- 23:09Speaker 1: when you look at it and you see how much
- 23:11Speaker 1: you spent on just thinking you had fun, you know,
- 23:18Speaker 1: how much you spent are not necessarily keeping up with
- 23:21Speaker 1: the Joneses, but making yourself feel better? Right, you know, right,
- 23:25Speaker 1: because a lot of times it's a feel good you know,
- 23:27Speaker 1: when you walk up, when you walk into the mall
- 23:30Speaker 1: and you look to the left and you see sale,
- 23:32Speaker 1: you think you did something right. You think, okay, well
- 23:35Speaker 1: you know, but but you know that better than anybody,
- 23:38Speaker 1: Mr clothing Man business, like I know better. It's a
- 23:46Speaker 1: couple of quotes I want to pull from your book
- 23:48Speaker 1: I want to read is like you said this, most
- 23:51Speaker 1: everything you know about money, do you? Meaning you Jay?
- 23:55Speaker 1: You know about money, business and wealth you learned the
- 23:57Speaker 1: hard way by trial and error. You also said, the
- 24:01Speaker 1: purpose of this book is to create a sound force
- 24:03Speaker 1: of reason and your money making decisions. Like it because
- 24:07Speaker 1: a lot of people put their decisions on faith only
- 24:11Speaker 1: that right there is a major mistake. And then you
- 24:15Speaker 1: said your financial engagement should be Twitter four seven, three
- 24:19Speaker 1: hundred and sixty five days a year. That's that's I'm
- 24:23Speaker 1: all three of those quotes. I'm on I'm on point
- 24:26Speaker 1: with you, my friend. That's why I'm hoping that anybody
- 24:30Speaker 1: who listens to Boo because it's gonna play this show
- 24:32Speaker 1: is gonna be on our heart radio podcast also on
- 24:34Speaker 1: the Rise platform. Is to let people know that I'm
- 24:37Speaker 1: recommending this book because the fact that you should not
- 24:40Speaker 1: be in a position to have any of your money
- 24:43Speaker 1: in a child trial and error. You know, you you
- 24:49Speaker 1: buy the car and a year later the car no
- 24:52Speaker 1: either maybe five hundred dollars or depending on the type
- 24:56Speaker 1: of car you get, and you realized, guess what, because
- 24:59Speaker 1: you know the anybody that people need to understand when
- 25:01Speaker 1: you start leasing these cars, they put they put a
- 25:04Speaker 1: mileage restriction on Yeah, so you really you know, you're
- 25:08Speaker 1: not looking at that, You're looking at like, listen, I
- 25:10Speaker 1: got this car and everybody looking at me. Yeah. Yeah,
- 25:13Speaker 1: And that's right there. Let you know that you're not
- 25:16Speaker 1: in allowing yourself to really maximize the value of the
- 25:21Speaker 1: money you're putting out there. Right If somebody telling you
- 25:24Speaker 1: you can only drive eleven thousand miles a year, okay,
- 25:28Speaker 1: that means you have to look at that car a
- 25:30Speaker 1: different way. And that's how you wind up getting multiple
- 25:33Speaker 1: cars because of the fact that that car to you
- 25:35Speaker 1: hit that limit is gonna come up. So you go, okay,
- 25:37Speaker 1: I don't wanna get penalized. You know when they when
- 25:40Speaker 1: I turn it in because I've seen them, let me
- 25:42Speaker 1: go get this other car. So you just start sliding
- 25:44Speaker 1: from one era to the next era. And that's the
- 25:47Speaker 1: trial and era that you're talking about, because you talk
- 25:49Speaker 1: about the Rolex watches, all those things that you said, Hey, man,
- 25:52Speaker 1: if I spent sixty dollars, I spent sixty dollars on
- 25:55Speaker 1: this watch. Why that's that's the funniest term that I
- 25:59Speaker 1: love about your book. Used the word why why am
- 26:01Speaker 1: I doing this? Why? Why you know? You? You you want?
- 26:09Speaker 1: You know? I looked back at myself, I said, well,
- 26:11Speaker 1: were you not entertained? I love it, Jay man. This
- 26:18Speaker 1: is you know man, because this is this is why
- 26:21Speaker 1: I'm so appreciative or you're getting on the call. First
- 26:24Speaker 1: of all, you're allowing us to allow yourself to be
- 26:27Speaker 1: honest because a lot of people who are successful, and
- 26:30Speaker 1: I'm telling everybody about this, is that you gotta you
- 26:32Speaker 1: have to have made mistakes to be successful. That way,
- 26:35Speaker 1: you see the problem because because that same mistake is
- 26:37Speaker 1: gonna come up again, and how you have that same mistake,
- 26:41Speaker 1: it's gonna be how successful you're gonna be moving forward,
- 26:44Speaker 1: because you have to know, I'm still a working products
- 26:46Speaker 1: now right, you know, right, I'm still a working progress.
- 26:49Speaker 1: But at least now you know, I go through the
- 26:51Speaker 1: emotions of okay, all right, you're sure, you know, alright,
- 26:55Speaker 1: we instead of getting three, let's just get one, right, okay,
- 26:58Speaker 1: right right, right? Right? Man? This is they tell me
- 27:03Speaker 1: I got to go to break, I'm gonna come back.
- 27:04Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about a little bit more about your book.
- 27:06Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about you know, you as you as
- 27:10Speaker 1: a man, a man who served our country and how
- 27:13Speaker 1: that changed your life, you know, and how the team
- 27:16Speaker 1: came together, because we at least gotta tell everybody how
- 27:18Speaker 1: the Foo Boo brand got started, you know something, we
- 27:21Speaker 1: all have one and part of lives, and how you
- 27:23Speaker 1: played such a uh amazing Damon John, we're gonna talk
- 27:27Speaker 1: about him, But just like with Steve Harvard, you know
- 27:30Speaker 1: I was there, you know what I'm saying. Just like
- 27:32Speaker 1: with Damon, you've been there, and we're gonna talk about
- 27:35Speaker 1: your success stories that you have coming up and the
- 27:37Speaker 1: project you haven't working on. But I just want to
- 27:39Speaker 1: get started with the whole book because that's what people
- 27:41Speaker 1: can get now, to get information about how you think,
- 27:45Speaker 1: what making what makes you successful if you follow the
- 27:49Speaker 1: the the platforms and the temperament. That's a favorite word
- 27:52Speaker 1: in that book, what's your temperament about? Absolutely, my friend,
- 27:57Speaker 1: We've been right back with more. J Alexander Martin, co
- 28:00Speaker 1: founder of the Foo Foo Foo Boo impot money Making Conversations.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Thank you, Hi, They're welcome back to your money making Conversation.
- 28:09Speaker 1: My guests is Um fashion designer, investor, television lifestyle executive,
- 28:14Speaker 1: co founder of Foo Boo and the author of a
- 28:16Speaker 1: new book Money Makes Me Crazy, highs pondering millions of dollars,
- 28:20Speaker 1: building the Food Boo Empire, the Food Boo Empire, just
- 28:26Speaker 1: the three guys getting together co op program for for
- 28:31Speaker 1: I should say, I'm meaning you, I apologize me and
- 28:33Speaker 1: you and three more guys. I apologize. I know it's
- 28:36Speaker 1: for y'all because y'all met the car, y'all met in
- 28:38Speaker 1: the co op program, and it just and and and
- 28:40Speaker 1: and so and so. But but your initial start to
- 28:43Speaker 1: all this was you thought your way to life was
- 28:46Speaker 1: going to be the Navy. Yeah, and you and you
- 28:49Speaker 1: got injured in a cab ride, which you said in
- 28:51Speaker 1: the book your host felt the safest way, the traveler
- 28:54Speaker 1: of the cab. And you want to get injured in
- 28:56Speaker 1: a cab And so that was that was the first
- 28:59Speaker 1: kind of like turn in your life that pushed you
- 29:01Speaker 1: in a different direction that you didn't expect to go.
- 29:04Speaker 1: And and so so when you met these guys and
- 29:07Speaker 1: you got to your start, understand that you all have
- 29:09Speaker 1: similar values, that's what that's what really galvanized at all.
- 29:13Speaker 1: What was the was the turning point that said, you know,
- 29:16Speaker 1: foo boo the logo, it was inspirational when it was
- 29:20Speaker 1: shown to you. But but damon, what made you say
- 29:23Speaker 1: we can do this? Because that's when the people need
- 29:25Speaker 1: to hear. When they got all these ideas, they got
- 29:28Speaker 1: all what was the thing? What were the things in
- 29:30Speaker 1: place that made you say we can do this? Well?
- 29:33Speaker 1: You know, funny thing about me, people always ask how
- 29:39Speaker 1: do you do stuff? Or or how did you get
- 29:42Speaker 1: to hear or what was what was the actual method?
- 29:46Speaker 1: I think, to be honest, it's drive. And you have
- 29:51Speaker 1: to have a certain drive to just do anything. I
- 29:53Speaker 1: don't care if it's to study for tests, to go
- 29:56Speaker 1: to school, and to start a business, if it's even
- 29:59Speaker 1: just the work, you know, and and work for somebody.
- 30:02Speaker 1: You have to have a certain drive. And my drive
- 30:05Speaker 1: was to be more of an entrepreneur and to be
- 30:08Speaker 1: successful because I've seen people around me that was successful,
- 30:12Speaker 1: you know, and not necessarily saying that they were mentors
- 30:15Speaker 1: or anything, but just you know, I just saw success
- 30:18Speaker 1: and that's what I wanted and you got it, and
- 30:20Speaker 1: you got it and I got it and by any
- 30:22Speaker 1: means necessary and necessary to say, any means that served
- 30:25Speaker 1: as far as as far as you know, in any
- 30:27Speaker 1: derogatory way or absolutely any But but you know, I'm
- 30:31Speaker 1: gonna work. I'm gonna work, and I'm gonna work, and
- 30:33Speaker 1: I'm continue working and continue work and continue working, you know,
- 30:37Speaker 1: to make it reality. But but one thing about if
- 30:40Speaker 1: you're making things reality to just to throw out is
- 30:42Speaker 1: that you have to understand what reality is. You know,
- 30:45Speaker 1: you can't be, for one talking about I'm gonna be
- 30:46Speaker 1: a sinner, right And that's and I want to back
- 30:50Speaker 1: up what you said about any means necessary, any means necessary.
- 30:53Speaker 1: If that if you if it's twenty four hours in
- 30:55Speaker 1: the day, you learn to use every hour in the day.
- 30:58Speaker 1: If you gotta stay away for twenty five hours in
- 31:01Speaker 1: that same day, you stay up for twenty five hours,
- 31:03Speaker 1: that's the enemy enemies necessarily that you're talking. You have
- 31:06Speaker 1: to if you have to do every job in that business,
- 31:10Speaker 1: then that enemies certain. You know, some people just you know,
- 31:13Speaker 1: there's a certain I think I don't want to see
- 31:16Speaker 1: people lazy. Some people are, you know, they wanted fast.
- 31:19Speaker 1: You know, I understand that I have to go through
- 31:21Speaker 1: the grind and you can't cheat. Work, you know, work, work,
- 31:25Speaker 1: those difference you're gonna achieve. That's true. That's true because
- 31:30Speaker 1: I know that, and I don't I don't love. I'd
- 31:33Speaker 1: never allowed my employees to frustrate me because sometimes because everybody,
- 31:38Speaker 1: like you said, it isn't made from the same cloth,
- 31:41Speaker 1: are built from the same model, and so you just
- 31:43Speaker 1: hire people, but they're not visionaries. And that's what a
- 31:46Speaker 1: lot of people have to understand that if you was
- 31:48Speaker 1: hiring visionaries, they're not gonna be working for you long anyway.
- 31:51Speaker 1: But if you're hiring employees, understand that you're hiring them
- 31:56Speaker 1: for a particular task. Don't expect them to come in
- 31:58Speaker 1: there and suddenly go and be over that engaging and
- 32:02Speaker 1: and and and thinking ahead of the curve or thinking
- 32:05Speaker 1: a month in advance, or thinking of different ways to
- 32:08Speaker 1: to make your business more successful. They're basically gonna do
- 32:11Speaker 1: what you hired them for that, y'all. And that's what
- 32:14Speaker 1: people make a mistake too. They just well, she's sorry,
- 32:17Speaker 1: he's sorry, Well, okay, is he? Why? Because I expected
- 32:21Speaker 1: more of them? Okay? Was that part of the job description?
- 32:24Speaker 1: I expected more out of you? Was that written out
- 32:26Speaker 1: in the job description? I expected more out of you?
- 32:29Speaker 1: And if it was, what was written next to the
- 32:32Speaker 1: mo because they need to know that so they can
- 32:34Speaker 1: do the job you want them to do. Now, now
- 32:37Speaker 1: you got one of the jobs that interests me the
- 32:39Speaker 1: most is that you're the president of the New York
- 32:41Speaker 1: State Black Chamber of Commerce. Please tell me exactly what
- 32:45Speaker 1: is that and how do you empower people with that position? Well, well, basically,
- 32:51Speaker 1: give you the bad story one um one, we laughed
- 32:54Speaker 1: because I say, you know, Damon's shark and I'm the
- 32:56Speaker 1: dolphin's true, true true. I basically I UM at one
- 33:02Speaker 1: of the trips to Africa and I met the president
- 33:06Speaker 1: of the National Black chamb of Commerce. So I walked
- 33:09Speaker 1: up to them and I said, you know, I'm the
- 33:12Speaker 1: quintessential black owned business. Like if you know money, everyone
- 33:15Speaker 1: knows fruit, but when it comes to business, why I
- 33:17Speaker 1: don't know you? Why you don't know me? So he
- 33:20Speaker 1: looked at me like huh, and I said, yeah, why
- 33:23Speaker 1: do you don't know me? Who you know? Why we
- 33:25Speaker 1: don't know each other. So from then on we start
- 33:27Speaker 1: a relationship. So I started helping them, the National Black
- 33:30Speaker 1: Chamans out for a while and um helping them speaking
- 33:35Speaker 1: engagement things like that, you know, and actually just putting
- 33:37Speaker 1: in my time. You know. It was just wasn't a
- 33:39Speaker 1: paid gig nothing like that. It was just just what
- 33:41Speaker 1: I what I wanted to do, because it's to help
- 33:43Speaker 1: because again I'm a you know, black owned business and respects.
- 33:46Speaker 1: I want to help and bring more, you know, and
- 33:48Speaker 1: create more black owned businesses. So they wanted to put
- 33:52Speaker 1: me on the board. And then after that they wanted
- 33:54Speaker 1: to start a New York chapter, uh new York State chapter.
- 33:58Speaker 1: So they was, you know, they kept up, Jay, you know,
- 34:00Speaker 1: maybe you should start it. Maybe you started. I'm like,
- 34:03Speaker 1: come on, man, you know my time is really you know,
- 34:06Speaker 1: is it's difficult. I don't know if I can be
- 34:09Speaker 1: able to do this. So after a while, with a
- 34:11Speaker 1: lot of cohercing and cohercing, I foundly said, Okay, let's
- 34:14Speaker 1: do it. So I started that. Basically, what it does
- 34:17Speaker 1: is basically helps you know, uh um, you know urban
- 34:20Speaker 1: And I don't want to just say black because again,
- 34:23Speaker 1: you know, it is for us to help us and
- 34:25Speaker 1: we all four fights. But in turn, we still have
- 34:28Speaker 1: to open our arms out to a lot of different
- 34:30Speaker 1: businesses because if we don't, you know, grow, we can't
- 34:32Speaker 1: grow with We can grow within ourselves, but we can
- 34:35Speaker 1: really grow if we can take you know, take on
- 34:38Speaker 1: everybody and help others everybody, you know, because in the
- 34:41Speaker 1: world is not just up, you know, although it is
- 34:43Speaker 1: you know it, although we are the you know, the
- 34:46Speaker 1: top consumers and that that respect as well, but you know,
- 34:49Speaker 1: I try to help everybody sex. So so that's what
- 34:52Speaker 1: I have. You know, I'm the president of that um
- 34:55Speaker 1: um it's COMMU newly found um within like another year years,
- 34:59Speaker 1: a year and then year and a half. We've been
- 35:01Speaker 1: we've been around and we're doing to you know, we're
- 35:04Speaker 1: giving a couple of loans. Um. I'm was kind of
- 35:07Speaker 1: proud of that, um to help a couple of businesses, uh, networking,
- 35:11Speaker 1: a couple of networking events and um, just just trying
- 35:14Speaker 1: to help grow businesses, right, and that's important. Now let's
- 35:18Speaker 1: go to something even closer to you. Fooboo tv M. Yes,
- 35:23Speaker 1: well your vision your vision, yes, yes, well, well basically
- 35:29Speaker 1: what foo boo of course has been around for it
- 35:32Speaker 1: since you know, actually we're going on anniversary. UM. So
- 35:38Speaker 1: we've been around for a long time. And as you
- 35:40Speaker 1: in business, you have to kind of you know, we
- 35:42Speaker 1: always tell us tell everybody we used to seek when
- 35:44Speaker 1: people's act and entertainment right now is the kind of
- 35:48Speaker 1: the focal point of how you market you know, your
- 35:51Speaker 1: clothing or market anything. So in turn, instead of we
- 35:54Speaker 1: always used to say to us, so, why why don't
- 35:56Speaker 1: we just do it ourselves? So and so and we've
- 36:00Speaker 1: had you know, a number of licensees. So what we
- 36:02Speaker 1: did was saying, you know, why don't we start our
- 36:03Speaker 1: own licensees. I started the television division and respect because
- 36:08Speaker 1: I know that if I instead of me buying uh
- 36:10Speaker 1: time and on others situations, I'll might as well buy
- 36:14Speaker 1: time I own, you know, and then I create shows
- 36:18Speaker 1: and put puente put you know, my clothing and my shows,
- 36:22Speaker 1: you know, so so I could do it myself. You know,
- 36:26Speaker 1: you know that's what we did. UM. We actually grown
- 36:29Speaker 1: to be uh. UM. We started out with a video
- 36:31Speaker 1: on demand, UM we have We're on UM Comcast, we're
- 36:36Speaker 1: on Verizon and we're on UM I'm sorry, Frontier, and
- 36:42Speaker 1: we have a couple of other deals that depending. I
- 36:45Speaker 1: can't mention it yet until actually um, but um eventually uh.
- 36:50Speaker 1: And we did this and respects the video demand because
- 36:53Speaker 1: one you know, and I don't want to call it
- 36:54Speaker 1: the starter kit per se, but you know, respects it
- 36:57Speaker 1: is UM and we do video on demand. And that's
- 36:59Speaker 1: where you know, all the millenniums are actually looking and
- 37:01Speaker 1: they want TV when they want it, and they want
- 37:03Speaker 1: it now. You know, no one just wants to go.
- 37:05Speaker 1: You know, everybody's time is valuable, so they have they
- 37:10Speaker 1: kind of want to watch TV when they when they
- 37:11Speaker 1: have to, when they went when they want to rather,
- 37:13Speaker 1: So that's why we did that first, and eventually you
- 37:15Speaker 1: probably will go off and and and have a full
- 37:18Speaker 1: fledged UH network. But brought up being the more in
- 37:21Speaker 1: the future. So back to what I was saying regarding
- 37:23Speaker 1: us UM creating our own licensees. I created the television
- 37:27Speaker 1: division Carl Brown, which is my other part, and he
- 37:30Speaker 1: created the hotel division. Heard about about first time. So
- 37:34Speaker 1: we have the first hotel opening up in Alabama. We
- 37:37Speaker 1: have a few other deals that appending now. UM Houston, UM,
- 37:41Speaker 1: but I didn't know if I could say Houston, but Houston, Texas, Dallas, right, yeah, yeah,
- 37:46Speaker 1: we're looking at UH. I can't UM, I can't tell
- 37:50Speaker 1: you exactly, but I know it's Houston. Cool, alright, let
- 37:53Speaker 1: me let me, let me slow down, let me slow
- 37:55Speaker 1: my row right right right right, Alabama, right, So we
- 38:00Speaker 1: have that, and then we also just started we we
- 38:03Speaker 1: have internet radio. And then we also just started our
- 38:07Speaker 1: UM uh sell your phone UM slash um business, so
- 38:12Speaker 1: we have we basically get a deal with t Mobile
- 38:15Speaker 1: and we're using that towers. So we have your own
- 38:17Speaker 1: you have your own food service, but opening a hundred stores,
- 38:21Speaker 1: hundred stores in the first year, and UM it's still
- 38:25Speaker 1: pretty good. I'll tell you, We'll tell you something. J
- 38:28Speaker 1: Ain't none of that on my paper. That's a whole
- 38:32Speaker 1: conversation there, that's a that's a that's a whole Ain't
- 38:35Speaker 1: none of that on my paper? Did you just talked
- 38:36Speaker 1: about the hotel? You know, all that brand and all
- 38:40Speaker 1: that My man, you I won't say you you you've learned,
- 38:47Speaker 1: you learned. But more importantly, the whole delegation of the
- 38:50Speaker 1: team and taking responsibility certain zones and building that out
- 38:54Speaker 1: but still under the food bu brand is what's most
- 38:56Speaker 1: impressive to me about the relationships that y'all have created
- 38:59Speaker 1: and still build it on. But also, can you give
- 39:02Speaker 1: me a quick uh I know, I'm I'm I'm pushing
- 39:04Speaker 1: past my clock. Give me a quick feel about what
- 39:07Speaker 1: this internet radio he is because that's big well, that's
- 39:10Speaker 1: that's um, that's my partner, Keith parents Um. He he's
- 39:14Speaker 1: actually started that spearhead of that where he actually it's
- 39:18Speaker 1: just basically hip hop and R and B from the
- 39:20Speaker 1: from our era and that's what he basically focused on
- 39:24Speaker 1: when it comes to uh um music and um, you
- 39:28Speaker 1: know he does. It's one of the things where where
- 39:31Speaker 1: you know you you you you look at you look
- 39:34Speaker 1: at what's out there, and again, you know, we've done
- 39:38Speaker 1: very well when it comes to clothing. You know, right
- 39:40Speaker 1: now we're back in UM Urban Outfitters in uh foot
- 39:44Speaker 1: Action and lids UM and of course schooler dot com
- 39:48Speaker 1: you can get it as well. And we just did
- 39:50Speaker 1: a deal with Puma UH speaker and Pullman that's coming out.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah. So so you know, if it's it's
- 40:00Speaker 1: about you know, and you know, how do you advertige
- 40:03Speaker 1: your advertising on radio? How do you advertige your advertize
- 40:05Speaker 1: on television? Because radio that's me. Now want walk my lane?
- 40:10Speaker 1: That's my lane? Come on now, come on, don't don't
- 40:13Speaker 1: do nothing over that that you should talk to me about.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Just just whisper to me a little couple of things.
- 40:18Speaker 1: I said, Okay, that's cool, that's cool because sponsors. That's
- 40:21Speaker 1: my that's my m O right there. But man, it's
- 40:23Speaker 1: beautiful talking to you. I want to ask you a favorite.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Can I bring you back on the show? Oh please
- 40:28Speaker 1: please do, because because I really want to break down.
- 40:31Speaker 1: You know, the book was great and talking about the whole,
- 40:34Speaker 1: but all this new stuff is the forward thinking that
- 40:36Speaker 1: we should talk about moving forward, man, because you know
- 40:39Speaker 1: it take some callers, because there's some brilliant stuff that
- 40:41Speaker 1: you're doing. Man, You and all your partners are the
- 40:44Speaker 1: three other guys who founded in the two made a
- 40:47Speaker 1: decision when you you took that insurance money at seven thousand,
- 40:51Speaker 1: you kept, you kept a thousand, gave them six. So
- 40:54Speaker 1: y'all get rolling with the food we brand that we
- 40:56Speaker 1: wear and cherished and and proud of because you guys
- 40:59Speaker 1: did it, man, and y'all stayed together and I love it. Man,
- 41:02Speaker 1: Thank you for coming on Money Making Conversations, Alexander. He's
- 41:05Speaker 1: gonna be back, y'all back with more money Making Conversation.

- 41:10Speaker 1: guess what he's still doing it. He will be back

- 41:22Speaker 1: this thing. First quarter to five minutes. Been powerful. First
- 41:26Speaker 1: quarter five minutes. We've been talking up a storm, just
- 41:29Speaker 1: hugging phone with my man Jay Alexander Martin, co founder
- 41:33Speaker 1: of the Hubu Empire. Coming up next is my next guest.
- 41:38Speaker 1: She delivers artistic cake creations to a fan base of
- 41:41Speaker 1: over thirty thousand interesting customers. She is a native u
- 41:45Speaker 1: stone In now based in Dallas. Please work with the
- 41:48Speaker 1: money making conversations, Brandy Dallas, Brandy, Brandy Grandy. Yes, okay,
- 41:57Speaker 1: I looked at your picture after soon did you that
- 42:00Speaker 1: dreaded what they called millennial? Is that correct? Yes? Yes,
- 42:05Speaker 1: you can say that. You say that, Okay, okay, cause
- 42:08Speaker 1: see because see I have to say that because you know,
- 42:10Speaker 1: you guys get a bad rap out there. Millennials. You
- 42:12Speaker 1: know you don't follow up. You know, you do what
- 42:15Speaker 1: you want to do. There's a high level of irresponsibility.
- 42:19Speaker 1: You know you dress, you know you're you know you're
- 42:22Speaker 1: you don't take the artors well, you have an opinion
- 42:25Speaker 1: before you you know, somebody tell you to do something.
- 42:27Speaker 1: You ask why how does a person like you, a
- 42:30Speaker 1: millennial break the mold? Come on, Brandy, how you breaking
- 42:33Speaker 1: that up? How do I break the mold? WOA? I
- 42:38Speaker 1: just you know, I have a a list of God
- 42:41Speaker 1: gives talents that God that's instilled in me. I found
- 42:44Speaker 1: out early on in life that I was like, I'm
- 42:46Speaker 1: extremely creative. So over the years I've dwealth and just
- 42:51Speaker 1: many things like take up not just take artistry, but
- 42:54Speaker 1: shoe artist streets, makeup design, wealth, and graphic designs, just
- 42:58Speaker 1: about anything dealing with art and design. So I have
- 43:03Speaker 1: to I have to use it. You know, you need
- 43:04Speaker 1: to use them. You lose them. So okay, now, let's
- 43:07Speaker 1: let's look down now, because you're millennial. Now now now, now,
- 43:10Speaker 1: So it was other millennials walking around. You're probably fitting
- 43:13Speaker 1: the mold of what people say. Now, so did did
- 43:16Speaker 1: they treat you different? Or did you have a game
- 43:19Speaker 1: plan so strong? They just admired how you approach life.
- 43:22Speaker 1: So I'm not get I mean, I'm not getting treated
- 43:25Speaker 1: any differently or whatever. Um, I'm just focused. I'm focused,
- 43:30Speaker 1: and you know why everyone else doing, you know, doing
- 43:33Speaker 1: what the typical millennial is doing. You know, I have
- 43:36Speaker 1: to stay focused. And plus I have twin daughters that
- 43:39Speaker 1: look up for me and I have to be a
- 43:40Speaker 1: living example for them. So I'm focused over here, you know. Okay, cool, letarybody,
- 43:47Speaker 1: what you focused on? Now? Okay, I'm on the radio
- 43:49Speaker 1: and I wanted to pull up some of your cake
- 43:51Speaker 1: designs on the Facebook. Of course, this is gonna play
- 43:55Speaker 1: back on our Heart radio podcasts. Okay, this is the
- 43:59Speaker 1: beauty of WHI I have you on the show. First
- 44:01Speaker 1: of all, you're young and you have a talent that
- 44:05Speaker 1: you know makes people go wow, because I I know,
- 44:08Speaker 1: I'm telling I bought a designer cake. I remember I
- 44:11Speaker 1: was my daughter was two years old. Why I went
- 44:14Speaker 1: out that was just so happy. I paid seven hundred
- 44:16Speaker 1: dollars for a Wizard of Oz designer cake. I mean
- 44:21Speaker 1: it looked like it was the Wizard of Oz too.
- 44:22Speaker 1: I mean everything was life like. My daughter was too,
- 44:25Speaker 1: she know what it would. I just kind of bought
- 44:27Speaker 1: it for myself. I'm not gonna lie to you, man,
- 44:29Speaker 1: I bought it for myself. My wife looked at me
- 44:32Speaker 1: like I was crazy, but I said, I'm buying this
- 44:33Speaker 1: for myself because I won't let everybody know when they
- 44:36Speaker 1: come by my daughter's birthday part. They didn't go yeah, yeah,
- 44:40Speaker 1: right right. It's a wild factor, right and so so
- 44:45Speaker 1: because these cakes are for everybody, but they are for
- 44:49Speaker 1: a lot of people out there who who bodies? And
- 44:52Speaker 1: I bought the cake. It didn't no regrets because it's
- 44:54Speaker 1: a it's a work of art that you could eat
- 44:57Speaker 1: and sometimes you kind of man when people start eating
- 44:59Speaker 1: on it too. Yes, yes, yes, I do get clients
- 45:03Speaker 1: that don't want anyone seing the cake they don't cut
- 45:05Speaker 1: it or whatever. I'm like, okay, well about right. Okay,
- 45:09Speaker 1: So so so here you are. Okay, you're just amazing
- 45:13Speaker 1: young and I'm gonna say the word attractive cake designer.
- 45:17Speaker 1: So as soon as you know, I'm a producer, I'm
- 45:18Speaker 1: a TV producer, I'm a TV I'm a person that
- 45:21Speaker 1: manages talent. So I mean, look at you and go, man,
- 45:26Speaker 1: she's millennial, she's attractive, and she's talented. Okay, why isn't
- 45:33Speaker 1: she on TV? That's my first statement that comes out
- 45:35Speaker 1: of my mouth when I look at you. Okay, so
- 45:38Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta get that out first. And you
- 45:40Speaker 1: were gonna go to a series or she's gonna be
- 45:42Speaker 1: a more like a because you used to worry brand.
- 45:44Speaker 1: And so we're gonna talk about that, you know, just
- 45:47Speaker 1: interview cause I already realized this interview is too short.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Because you, my my friend, got a talent. That's a
- 45:54Speaker 1: lot of people do it. It's a lot of people.
- 45:57Speaker 1: You know, you're not unique. There are other people out
- 45:58Speaker 1: there do this. How do you separate yourself? You already
- 46:02Speaker 1: separate yourself with your youth? Okay, and then and then,
- 46:06Speaker 1: but how you brand and market your youth with this
- 46:09Speaker 1: talent is very key. So what are all the goals
- 46:13Speaker 1: for you, my friend, with this incredible talent that you
- 46:16Speaker 1: discovered and you're very focused, what's your goals? Well, my
- 46:20Speaker 1: goal is who build a celebrity client fels. I want
- 46:23Speaker 1: to be a designer for the stars or whatever. So
- 46:26Speaker 1: I feel like I'm a packet deal. I got everything else.
- 46:29Speaker 1: I got the branding and everything. I'm self branded, and
- 46:33Speaker 1: I also do my own marketing. I mean I'm a
- 46:35Speaker 1: weapon graphic designer as well. So I feel like with
- 46:40Speaker 1: this package right here, I got the beauty, I got
- 46:43Speaker 1: the mart I have the talent. I'm putting it all
- 46:46Speaker 1: together packet and my goal is to be, you know,
- 46:50Speaker 1: on TV. I want to be the star take designer,
- 46:53Speaker 1: the designer that all the stars come to have their
- 46:56Speaker 1: taps made for their weddings and everything. I want to
- 46:59Speaker 1: be on TV. No, let me ask you this, let
- 47:02Speaker 1: mask you this. Okay, do you have any videos of
- 47:06Speaker 1: you making these cakes? I don't. I know what I'm doing,
- 47:13Speaker 1: every sean, I know what I'm doing. I got my marketing,
- 47:17Speaker 1: I got the looks, I got my packaging, I got
- 47:20Speaker 1: everything together. But I ain't got no videos of you
- 47:24Speaker 1: making these cakes. Okay, now you're talking to the master.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Now you need to quiet, be quiet, Brandy, you're talking
- 47:29Speaker 1: to the master now okay, okay, see see now this
- 47:33Speaker 1: is what we're gonna do, because now I'm manage you
- 47:35Speaker 1: right now. Okay, I've taken over your career. That's how
- 47:37Speaker 1: I do I took over Steve, took with Jamie Fox career,
- 47:41Speaker 1: took over Monique career. This is how I do it.
- 47:44Speaker 1: But we're gonna need to do first. It's get a
- 47:46Speaker 1: video of you making one of these cakes. Okay. Okay,
- 47:50Speaker 1: start defending, and we're gonna speed it up. Okay, so
- 47:53Speaker 1: we can start letting people know that this is real
- 47:56Speaker 1: because a lot of people, you know, they just take
- 47:58Speaker 1: a image of like red printing, and it just layered
- 48:02Speaker 1: a design on top of a kick, which I don't like. Okay,
- 48:05Speaker 1: So I'm telling you we need to do a video
- 48:08Speaker 1: when they're gonna happen. Brandy, Oh, that can happen next week. Okay,
- 48:14Speaker 1: next week, no book. See see now she's thinking that.
- 48:17Speaker 1: Oh oh, she's talking to ra Sean McDonald. I gotta
- 48:20Speaker 1: get this right now. I was talking smack to him,
- 48:22Speaker 1: that's that millennial came out of you. I know you
- 48:24Speaker 1: was a millennial. I knew you was a millennial and
- 48:27Speaker 1: jumped right out there. Okay, do you have a video?
- 48:30Speaker 1: I don't have no video. You know what? That was
- 48:33Speaker 1: on the list? That was on the list. But you
- 48:37Speaker 1: got your act together though, you know, you know, you
- 48:39Speaker 1: got your act together though people got to act together
- 48:41Speaker 1: on the list. It's in the Yes, I do, Mr McDonald.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Would you like me to send it to you right now?
- 48:47Speaker 1: Actually it has over a million views. It would viral.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Every time I post a video, it goes viral. Sir,
- 48:53Speaker 1: I told you I have my act together. I'm good, lucky,
- 48:56Speaker 1: and I'm going to be a celebrity, you know, designer,
- 49:00Speaker 1: designing for the stars, and I'll be on TV next year.
- 49:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something. You're not gonna be on
- 49:05Speaker 1: TV without my help, young lady. You're ready to get
- 49:07Speaker 1: some help. Huh now we're talking now. Now, first of all,
- 49:13Speaker 1: let's let's let's put the website out there. You know,
- 49:16Speaker 1: it's be Dallas bs and Boy Dallas Cakes dot com.
- 49:20Speaker 1: That's be Dallas Cakes dot com where they can go
- 49:23Speaker 1: and see all your work. And people need to go
- 49:25Speaker 1: there now. Secondly, let's talk about building your brand through
- 49:30Speaker 1: your talents, and these videos are very important. Brandy. You know,
- 49:35Speaker 1: a gentleman caller called my show just raving about you. You
- 49:38Speaker 1: You gotta you gotta reach out to Brandy. You got
- 49:41Speaker 1: you gotta the best of the world. Okay, that's how
- 49:45Speaker 1: I found out about you. I didn't know nothing about you.
- 49:47Speaker 1: Somebody just called my show raving about you. That's why
- 49:50Speaker 1: you're on the show. But when I when I saw
- 49:52Speaker 1: your work and Samantha Taylor contact you're going wow. See,
- 49:57Speaker 1: I was at pressed because in the end, it's all
- 49:59Speaker 1: about packaging. It's all about people showing your value, and
- 50:03Speaker 1: right now, your value can only be shown not through
- 50:06Speaker 1: still pictures because anybody can do that, but actually showing
- 50:09Speaker 1: you do the work putting these cakes together. That has
- 50:13Speaker 1: to happen moving forward every time you do a cake,
- 50:16Speaker 1: so we can start building that brand. Is that a deal? Yes,
- 50:19Speaker 1: that's a deal. O. Boy took me took it took
- 50:21Speaker 1: me eight minutes to get that out of hell. Have mercy,
- 50:25Speaker 1: Brandy Dallas, you too much, but your talented girl. You talented.
- 50:29Speaker 1: So if you want to get some of Brandy's cakes
- 50:31Speaker 1: and anything you want to say about yourself for an
- 50:34Speaker 1: interview brand because now you know we have a working relationship.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Now you'll me or at least a couple of videos
- 50:39Speaker 1: next week, correct, I do. I will work on these
- 50:43Speaker 1: videos and I'll get them right up to you. Now,
- 50:46Speaker 1: be Dallas Cakes, your native of Houston. Now you're living
- 50:49Speaker 1: in Dallas doing your thing? What what are your store hours?
- 50:52Speaker 1: Do you have us stores at all? Online? How does
- 50:54Speaker 1: it work well? Right now? At the present moment, I'm
- 50:57Speaker 1: home based, um only to open a storefront next year.
- 51:02Speaker 1: So right now, that's what I'm preparing for, you know,
- 51:05Speaker 1: because everything is about planning. So I'm preparing for this
- 51:08Speaker 1: storefront because it's totally different from having a home based
- 51:11Speaker 1: business and then going to the store frame with the
- 51:13Speaker 1: overhead and all that. So right now, that's what I'm
- 51:16Speaker 1: currently working on. Just getting my credit in order, working capital.
- 51:22Speaker 1: We're gonna talk about that next week now, so you
- 51:25Speaker 1: get those video to you. Hey be Dallas Bakery, Brandy Dallas.
- 51:29Speaker 1: I hope you, Georgia call with me today. I know
- 51:31Speaker 1: it's a little bit different than you expected. You realize
- 51:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna take over your career and take you to
- 51:35Speaker 1: the top. But now I didn't know that. I didn't
- 51:37Speaker 1: know that. Are you ready for that ride? I am ready,
- 51:40Speaker 1: I am ready, and I will be blowing your phone up. Okay, cool,
- 51:43Speaker 1: make it happen. The ladies and gentlemen. More money making
- 51:46Speaker 1: conversations coming up, Kenney Smith, Gwindland Smith doing their thing. Brandy,
- 51:50Speaker 1: thank you for being on the show today. I need
- 51:53Speaker 1: to videos from me. I'm very serious. We'll be right back.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Bye bye, Brandy. Coming up Kenney Smith and when listen,
- 52:02Speaker 1: man to come back fast because I got to very
- 52:05Speaker 1: important Yes on the phone, welcome back and money making conversations. Wow,
- 52:10Speaker 1: my next. Yes. A true media power couple. For the
- 52:13Speaker 1: past fe of years, he has been displaying his NBA
- 52:16Speaker 1: alance skills as a co host on the Emmy Award
- 52:18Speaker 1: When the NBA on TV on TNT excuse me, And
- 52:22Speaker 1: for the same twelve years, his wife was a model
- 52:24Speaker 1: on the long running hit show The Price Is Right.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Please welcome the money making conversations. Kenny and Gwenland spitch
- 52:34Speaker 1: not you know you know, you know this call is
- 52:38Speaker 1: long overdue, both for y'all, both of y'all, both for y'all. Uh,
- 52:45Speaker 1: he's a deal because you know I did a show
- 52:48Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago by Power Couples because that's important,
- 52:51Speaker 1: you know, because because you know, the deal that was
- 52:55Speaker 1: cut for you guys by I t V was because
- 52:58Speaker 1: you guys are a power couple and if you could,
- 53:01Speaker 1: I'm not trying to just you know, I want to
- 53:04Speaker 1: understand the dynamic of what makes that special and what
- 53:08Speaker 1: makes it successful because both of you guys are in
- 53:11Speaker 1: some form of the entertainment business and now you're your producer.
- 53:16Speaker 1: Had on not saying you never had that producer at all,
- 53:19Speaker 1: but it's different because people are coming at you with projects.
- 53:22Speaker 1: How do you have a lot. I want to hear
- 53:25Speaker 1: from both of you. Kenny, when Ladies first win, how
- 53:28Speaker 1: you doing? Hi? Um? Hey, so yeah, I'd love to
- 53:32Speaker 1: answer your question. Um. I definitely think that it came
- 53:36Speaker 1: so um organically because yeah, because we had um the
- 53:44Speaker 1: whole the whole pathway towards doing the reality ship we
- 53:48Speaker 1: have with our family need to Smith Um. That involved
- 53:53Speaker 1: creating a commercial for Hundai and through that we realized
- 53:58Speaker 1: that we were able to work together as producers and
- 54:01Speaker 1: that was why we were able to executives with produced
- 54:04Speaker 1: meet the Smiths and you know that was a huge
- 54:10Speaker 1: amount of work because realized what it was like to
- 54:13Speaker 1: be behind the scenes. Welcome to my world. Welcome to
- 54:17Speaker 1: my world. Welcome to my world. Yes, I mean you know,
- 54:22Speaker 1: the stalls leaders no no, no, no, no, no, the
- 54:25Speaker 1: stars leader set. I'm still there. Okay, I'm still there,
- 54:29Speaker 1: light bub, Okay, what we're doing tomorrow? Okay, welcome to
- 54:33Speaker 1: my world. I had to stop to see people on
- 54:37Speaker 1: this bed. That producing side, man, it's really what makes
- 54:41Speaker 1: it all work. That's what don't come together. You know,
- 54:45Speaker 1: it's like it's NonStop, you know, NonStop. If you want
- 54:48Speaker 1: something to be the vision that you had in your mind,
- 54:52Speaker 1: you are solely responsible from making sure that everything comes together.
- 54:56Speaker 1: You're stitching every single piece of it together. So, you know,
- 55:01Speaker 1: we were able to actually do that producer side as
- 55:03Speaker 1: well as be the talent on the show as well,
- 55:07Speaker 1: which of course is a whole another animal to take on.
- 55:10Speaker 1: But we did it, and we did it very successfully
- 55:12Speaker 1: and um so through that we were able to realize
- 55:14Speaker 1: we could do more, which is what led onto I
- 55:18Speaker 1: TV today. Not Kenny Boy, We've been talking a little
- 55:23Speaker 1: time about Here's the Beauty by Kenny Kenny. Kenny's as
- 55:27Speaker 1: a producer, entrepreneur trapped in a basketball player's body. I
- 55:33Speaker 1: love that. That's this man. I'm telling you this, dude,
- 55:40Speaker 1: we sit out with me and Steve Harvey pitching ideas.
- 55:43Speaker 1: I want to do talk shows. I want to do
- 55:45Speaker 1: one on one shows. And they've done they've they've kind
- 55:48Speaker 1: of let people have like bitten off his ideas over
- 55:50Speaker 1: the years. And I know he's been mad too, man.
- 55:54Speaker 1: I feel what overall? You know, honestly, you know yourself
- 56:01Speaker 1: and probably by two other mentors that kind of like
- 56:04Speaker 1: that you just kind of watch from a fall or
- 56:07Speaker 1: you know, talk to directly about ideas and things. You know,
- 56:11Speaker 1: how to get things off the ground. You know, everybody
- 56:14Speaker 1: has great ideas that I've always heard that if you
- 56:17Speaker 1: have an idea, there's probably tend people in the world
- 56:19Speaker 1: that's having an exact same idea at the same time.
- 56:22Speaker 1: So how do you get it off the ground? Uh?
- 56:25Speaker 1: Is really? Then? I you know what I did with
- 56:27Speaker 1: Sean and we started doing for me. I just started
- 56:30Speaker 1: taking a basketball approaching when I when I when I
- 56:34Speaker 1: get the basketball, I'm a point guard. You throw it
- 56:37Speaker 1: to me and we're about to do the fast break
- 56:40Speaker 1: behind me, I have to look ahead of me. I
- 56:42Speaker 1: have to look both sides. So I'm already taking a
- 56:44Speaker 1: mental picture of what needs to happen before I pass
- 56:48Speaker 1: you the ball or lay it in myself. So when
- 56:51Speaker 1: I when we started doing that and kind of taking
- 56:53Speaker 1: that mental picture and saying, okay, we're in this step
- 56:56Speaker 1: because sports and entertainment is similar. But the difference to
- 56:59Speaker 1: me when you it's entertainment, it's not a destination. It's
- 57:06Speaker 1: just a vacation. So you're really not at that spot
- 57:09Speaker 1: where you're going to be next. So even if it's
- 57:11Speaker 1: a movie, let's say, and let's say we produce this
- 57:13Speaker 1: great movie, you're only going to produce it for three
- 57:15Speaker 1: months and then you're done and you got it. It's
- 57:18Speaker 1: just a vacation. You're never there for an extended period
- 57:21Speaker 1: of time. And then then you don't get disappointed when
- 57:26Speaker 1: you know you're only in a vacation. Oh they stopped
- 57:29Speaker 1: your series. Oh they didn't even give you a series,
- 57:31Speaker 1: Oh because you said a case in anyway? Right? Right?
- 57:35Speaker 1: You know with what it's different? Where what's a destination?
- 57:38Speaker 1: When you get to the NBA, is you get a
- 57:40Speaker 1: seven year deal? You can at ten year deal, you
- 57:42Speaker 1: get an eight year dealt. It's a destination. It's different,
- 57:46Speaker 1: totally different in entertainment, and then you can you can
- 57:50Speaker 1: work without being disappointed and you can just know that
- 57:54Speaker 1: you're working towards something. I'm gonna tell you what. I'm
- 57:57Speaker 1: excited about having you guys on the because Gwendolin Uh,
- 58:02Speaker 1: I've known him so long, and and and and and
- 58:05Speaker 1: and and just seeing him, you know, from throwing party.
- 58:07Speaker 1: Like I said, he's always been an entrepreneur. He's always
- 58:09Speaker 1: figuring out ways to flip a dollar, good dollar, how
- 58:12Speaker 1: to take advantage of the moment. You know. That's that's
- 58:16Speaker 1: his m O. That's his m O. The reason I
- 58:18Speaker 1: like this partnership between you and him, he needs you,
- 58:22Speaker 1: you know because and I'm saying that in a good way,
- 58:24Speaker 1: because when when we would talk, you know, we would
- 58:27Speaker 1: we will step away and then we might see each
- 58:29Speaker 1: other months. But see now he has you on the
- 58:32Speaker 1: day to day, and I think that's important. That's gonna
- 58:35Speaker 1: allow him to evolve to all the gifts that he has.
- 58:38Speaker 1: I think that's because of the fact that the short
- 58:40Speaker 1: time we know, we met at the Neighborhood Awards, and
- 58:42Speaker 1: I followed your career and it's always been real consistent.
- 58:46Speaker 1: It's always been. You know, you have a certain style
- 58:48Speaker 1: about yourself. You know when to say no, I'm not
- 58:50Speaker 1: gonna do that. You know, you said, this is my brain.
- 58:53Speaker 1: You're very brand protective and so having a partner now,
- 58:57Speaker 1: I think that he can communicate with on a regular
- 58:59Speaker 1: basis and have one of these mentors who are quite
- 59:02Speaker 1: frankly at times, focused on what we're doing more than
- 59:05Speaker 1: what he wants to get done. I think it's a blessing.
- 59:07Speaker 1: And am I wrong in saying that team right now?
- 59:12Speaker 1: I think you're very right, and that you know him
- 59:16Speaker 1: in different areas where he compliments me in different areas,
- 59:19Speaker 1: and I think that the proof is right here of
- 59:23Speaker 1: what we can accomplish by working hard together. And we
- 59:27Speaker 1: do have very different styles. And I don't say that
- 59:30Speaker 1: you know because you're headstrong. You are headstrong when I
- 59:35Speaker 1: know that for a fact you're head strong. Yes, it's
- 59:45Speaker 1: the thing about the kid, you know, the one time
- 59:47Speaker 1: I met her in person, she will order me around politely,
- 59:51Speaker 1: though where's the cake? Where's the cake? Hey, I'm the
- 59:58Speaker 1: executive producer of the show. I don't go do stuff,
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: but I think I better go do it because Gwen
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: has asked me to, you know, and that's a powerful
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: skill set to have because it's you know, it's always funny.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Steve Harvey, you st always tell me so rich, I
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: don't care where were at, what city were How is
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: it that you can come on a television show that
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: has nothing new with you but start giving out harders
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: and the crazy part of it people listen to you. Yeah, Well,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: it's you know, when you have your opinion, you know
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: that the end result is going to be great for everybody,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: you know. I just feel like, I don't know, I
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: think it's something that's born in certain people. It is
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: definitely born in me, and I see it's born in
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: my daughter. She's going to be exactly the same way
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: that one. You know, So it's like it's just born
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: in you to know that you have the type of
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: confidence to deal with people, to know that you know
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: that the train's gonna go smoothly and you want everybody
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: to be on it. And it's definitely been a working
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: progress for me to figure out how to even work
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: you know, the best angles of myself and and make
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: it effective. You know. So I'm sure that you know
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: you've gone through the same thing, you know many years ago, Rashan,
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: I mean, let me get you a quick story. So
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: this this sums up going to len to me, I
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: think you know, I would we would go this is
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: years before all of this stuff going on. We would
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: go to a grocery store. She said, oh, you know what,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: I forgot to get the milk. Could you run back
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: and get the milk? Okay? Problem? And by time I
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: come back with the milk, now I'm literally I'm just
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: going to get the milk and come back. The lady
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: in front of her is in tears, crying on her shoulder,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: and I'm like, what happened. She's like, oh, she just
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: told me about the situation. And I'm like, how did
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: you get in a minute, this lady to give you
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: such personal details? Right? And what I've realized that how
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: that works over the years is that Gwen hasn't innate
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: ability to ask the hard question. And I don't always
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: have that in the ability to ask the hard questions.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: That's why y'all perfect man, right, right? And she asked
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: you asked a hard questions like hey, just saying hey,
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: are you okay? Hey? How would you She goes, hey,
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: you don't look okay today, Yes, that's a different question,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: different questions, and that gets a different response. She's ready
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: to ask the hard questions. Okay, okay, now that that
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: that goes to the question, Okay, now, where is y'all
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: show it? That that's the question I gotta ask. We're
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: gonna ask that question when we go to the break.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: Where is y'all questions? Where is y'all show being pitched
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: there right now? Because both of y'all look good, both
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: of y'all articulate, both of y'all could talk on anything,
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: and you know, she got the international flavor. You know,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: she can go English on you, and then she can
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: go American English on you. So she'll throw your curve,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: think you're talking to her sister in the streets, and
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: then she busts out with that accent. You go, okay,
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: what country am talking to that? Don't forget the Jamaican
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: side even can fuss out in some of that as well.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: So so Kenny Ken, Okay, that's that's the KNG show,
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: Ken g in the morning, the day that talks to
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: you for everybody, where is that show at y'all? Come on, kid,
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: you know that that's always been his dream that's always
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: been the Kenny's dream, the host of talk show type format.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: And now he got a riding partner like you that
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: at least has to be in the works because when
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: you come back and we'll talk about the other stuff.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: But let's let our fans know, your fans know, is
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: that even a possibility. It definitely is a possibility. I
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: think the one thing now is like we had to
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: describe what's to just deal with I t V D
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: still and you know, you know these budgets that we have,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: we have to kind of really know what that is.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: And so we can now we could concentrate back on
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: being talent a little bit where it was Wait a minute,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: you got twenty three new people working with you, like
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: and now you got twenty three people at their disposal.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: So you do and how you make that work? And
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: who you know? What if you know you walk in
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: that first day? So brother, what do you actually do? Yes? Yes,
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: I've been that. You don't even know what these people do?
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: So no, no, no, this side really works. Kenny walks
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: in the green and go what do they do out there?
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: What what is she doing? Go tell you what she
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: gonna tell you, because you can't ain't gonna walk up
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: to nobody and go what you do? But he's gonna walkcome.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: You ain't gonna do that. I know ain't gonna do that.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: But you walk up and you go quick doing at that,
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: and you go and you go tell him in detail
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: what it is. Oh, thank you, baby, thank you. Okay,
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: did you find out what she does? Yeah? Find out.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: I loved it. Hey man, Okay, you know I'm a producer.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: So y'all, y'all need to stop talking like this because y'all,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: y'are tripping because I'm just thinking, y'all, just thinking about
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: these daytime show, these games shows y'all be hosted. I'm
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: just gonna stop. I'm gonna just stop myself. Hey Lenna,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: stop myself because when we come back, I'm gonna talk.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: I want to break it down a little bit more
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: your deal that you have with I t V America. Y'all, fantastic,
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Thank you for calling. This show be heard on our
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: heart radio podcasts all over the world, Rise podcast, Apple
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: Tune podcast. But guess what, dam on my show right now?
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Be right back with more money making conversation with the
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: media powerful couple Kenny and gwland Smith we're back money
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: making conversations. I'm on the phone, they're on the phone.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: I'll be in my studio and with a modern day
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: power couple. That's what they are called. Kenny and Gwendol
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: are a modern day power couple with incredible ideas and
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: plans to create groundbreaking program said I t V America
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: CEO Brent Montgomery. That's what they're saying about y'all like that,
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: you know, you know, I want to just slow down
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: for a minute, you know, because that that you guys
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: are special. And I'm just gonna say that right now.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: And when you when you got the special talent and Kenny,
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: you know, I've been around talented people and and and
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: and and the beauty of this relationship and I'm gonna
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: just tell you a little bit when when this deal.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: When Doc Kenney called me, he's Rashaan, did you get
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: to read the paper? Did you hear what's happening? He said,
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Let's do something. And I'm gonna tell you something. What
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: I like about this interview is that we're not talking
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: about what you've done in the past. When we're not
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: talking about the prices, right, we're not even talking about
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: the NBA on TNT and we're talking about your brands
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: moving forward, how you're going to change the game. And
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: I remember when Kenny called me, I was still there
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: trying to figure out who Sean is trying to define
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: my place, you know, And I know how important that
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: is when we have this conversation, because you can't really
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: be successful. You can participate, but that doesn't mean you're
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: gonna be successful if you don't know who you are
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: and who you're talking to. And I clearly see what
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: I'm talking about. That's why I had to say, you
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: guys are gonna do your own TV show because y'all
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: clearly y'all got this deal, and y'all will do this
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: deal at the utmost, and you're gonna you're gonna you're
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: gonna get the right relationships. You're gonna get a TV on,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: You're gonna syndication with digital, you're gonna be on social,
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: you're gonna you're gonna do some game changing program because
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: there's too many outlets out there that you cannot get
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: your voice hurried on. But the one thing I really
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: like the fact is that I'm talking to two individuals
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: and I see future opportunities within yourself that has nothing
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: to do with your past, and that's amazing, that's amazing.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: M I got the kid. You know me? Can you know,
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Kenn you know you know I'm gonna tell you something.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: What the one thing about me is that it isn't
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: I always tell people as to say that I have
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: it's not about it's about the money, but it's not
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: about the money. It's more about the relationship. And people
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: come to me all the time with ideas. Famous people
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: get calls all the time for people wanted advice and
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: keeping them on the right track. Richard, what should I
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: do in this contract being brought up? And I just
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: tell him because I've been fortunate in my life, you know,
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: to have all these personal experience. When people saw Steve
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: as a black comment where they we wasn't touching him.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: So I had to do all the deals. I had
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: to do, the book deals, the radio deals, the syndication
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: deal of family, field deals, the movie deals, the book
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: deals of Harper College. Because they didn't see what I
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: what I saw. But I always know that when I
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: talked to individuals, I know that it's about the team.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: So when he called me, he said, Rashane, I got
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: these Stephan Curry interviews lined up, you know, and they
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: don't let everybody talk to them. So he knew he
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: was at the forefront of of unusual opportunities. It's just
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: that so he was not. So I appreciate the fact
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: he goes he's trying to assimilate a team around him
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: of winners and when it and that's what that was
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: important for me to hear that from you, because a
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: lot of people get these deals and what they do
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: is they go right back to the same people who
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: keep failing. And then they say this successfully, they put
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: out the resume, they say, well, I know you, I
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: know you, but don't know you. That's what makes me mad.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: They don't know you. They even though they might saw
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: a half hour on NBA. You've been crazy with Shack,
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: But that ain't you, right, you know, that ain't your
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: you know what's called let's go all the way back
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: to North Carolina. You know, when you injured your knee
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: and was playing the same season, like, okay, didn't the
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: dude did that dude just injured his knee. How's he
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: playing in the same season and something. That's the type
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: of man that you are, you know. And then and
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: then when and then and then when I when I
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: see the love and the passion and the respect that
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: you have for your wife, not that just as the
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: fact that she's your wife, but she's a thinking woman
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: and not thinking. What he said, the modern day power
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: couple is. That's what Brent was saying, is that you
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: guys are game changers. Don't forget that. M hmm, well, I, oh, Kenny,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: did I leave Gwin speechless? You left? No. I just
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: want to make sure that Kenny gets the stay. I
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: just want to agree with everything you said. I think
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: that you know you not only in in short spurts
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: that we did together, but even over the law haul,
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: you kind of stitched everything together. And that's why, you
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: know when things happen, you know, like let me see
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: what Rashaun's thinking about this, and you know, and a
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: matter of fact, what was even funnier. Let me how
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: how how funny how God was because I called you
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: to three days ago, right right right? But let me
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: say this, I didn't know that this was being set
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: up for a schedule interview, calling the whole different matter
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: and do that same hour talk that we normally do.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: I didn't even know. And then I was like oh,
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: they called me to do an interview. It was the
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: same like an hour or two later, I who had
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: existed to other So, but I think overall, you hit
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: it on the head about the relationship is understanding. You
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: know power. You know when you say power, power comes
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: from strength, But power also comes from knowing your weaknesses,
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: you know. And I think also, you know what a
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: lot of the weaknesses that I have when it's able
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: to fill in, and some of the weaknesses that she has.
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: And we haven't not less talked about it, but I
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: will point it out because he's got to be able
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: to see it, to be able to resolve it and
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: make it start. I think at times though, the only
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: you know. Then I go back to talent. I sent
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: the talent, I said, well, that ain't your only job
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: either to point out my week. You get a little sensitive,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: but it's true, but it's needed because I think overall
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: it gives you a different perspective. It's like it's like
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: and going back to sports again, there's a coach that yells,
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: there's a coach that doesn't yell, and there's a coaches's
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: in the middle, and they all can win championships, but
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: you have to know what you are, Like you said
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: at the beginning of the show, what are you and
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: what's gonna be most effective for you? Ahead if you
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: don't know it's gonna be most effective, then all of
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: a sudden, you you're just trying out. You're trying how
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: suits that don't fit you know what I mean? And
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: you just if they'll never fit and you'll never see
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: be be there. But the one thing that you said,
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: and I was like, when to kind of add on,
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: is that again, we're never in the spot where at
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: if you always think about where you're at, it's like,
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: how does this spot project you? And and and and
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: and push you into a differant direction, no matter how
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: small and how big is it is. And the last
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: thing I'll say on that restaurance we had a like
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: I'll deal started from me saying no to a commercial
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: something a company asked me and I said, no, I'm
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: not gonna do it. I said, I'm not gonna take
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: myself out of the category for that small amount. Right
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: the head of our company calls me and I need
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: a favor, Kenny. I need you to do this for us.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: There are a new company with us. I need you
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: to do me a favor. So I'm like in my hand,
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: I'm like, here's my moment, Like, how do I do
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: this and still keep my relationship with my boss? So
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: so I called him up. I said, listen, what's the
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: idea for the commercial? They said, oh, we don't have one.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: I said, okay, I'll do it commercial if you let
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: me produce it. Wow. Now that was my moment and
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: when the moment was and then they go okay, and
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: then do you have a production company? I'm like, I
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: live in Los Angeles. If I say no that I
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: don't have and live in Los Angeles and no, you
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: and know all the type of people I know that
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: you're an idiot right right? Product company? Because I'm just
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: hire the people that I know that dude, thank you way,
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: and they're gonna do a good job at it. So
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: then we take that and Gwen goes, well, we have
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: this deal, so how are we gonna you know, we're
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: gonna shoot this commercial. I said, let's shoot a commercial,
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: but make it like a reality show. And then we're
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: gonna take that and we'll sell it and use that
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: as our silver real That's how we snip so all
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: because I said no initially, which was what I didn't
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: want to do. But then it came up with projection
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: of well do it, but make it do something else right, right, right,
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: And that's amazing. That's the story of us so far.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: And because because a lot of people don't know, they
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: they're afraid. But I would tell people no can be
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: a word that you can like give it a different answer,
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: and it's still is no. Yeah. And you know what,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: you know, the difference between a budget between the talent
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: budget that's low and a production budget that's really high.
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: There you go, there, you go, I love she hears
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: different things and she goes, you're right, you're right about that. Sean,
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: You're right, You're right, You're right, you're right. You know,
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: I know does have many connotations. You know, that's how
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: you say it. That's why you're gonna be successful. So
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: so let me ask you this. You know, because people
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: are listening, they're gonna listen. How does one pitch ideas
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: to this modern day power couple a couple? Is that possible?
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: Or do they have to go through agents or do
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: you have to go through managers? How do they do that?
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: Quin you just simply give us a cool we have
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: we haven't assisted. We have a senior vice president of
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: development for and that's Adrian Lopez. She's been incredible and um,
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: and you just get an appointment, come on over to
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: I TV Studios and find us and we're ready to
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: take meetings. We are very ready. Now, that sounds so simple.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: That sounds so simple. Come over, that sounds simple. But
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: let me tell you this. This is how you but this.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: There's a buffer. Let me tell you how you get
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: to do the buffer. Because there are a million as
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: you know the show, and there a million great I did,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: there's million great I did. But and I told that
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: we have close friends that are in the business. I said, okay,
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: he's they're pitching us ideas as we eat and dinner.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: They come over to eat. I'm like, hold on, let's
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: put the brakes on. I said, here's how you pitch.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: You make an appointment, but when you come in, it's
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: still a buffer to kid to us. And then that
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: you have to have executed every element of that show.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: So here's the show, here's the idea. Here is the
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: format of the show. Here's how the show translates, here's
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: the here's my production, here's my um, here's my talent,
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: that is listed that I will have. So and here's
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: where I see the show. Where do you see your
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: show when you sit down on your couch? What time
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: is it? Is it daytime? Is it nighttime? You know?
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: And and what channel do you want to see it on?
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: What what's gonna be on before your show comes on?
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: And what's gonna be on after your show airs? And
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: and I always say, we have the triangle. This is
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: what I look for. And I look for a show
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: I go, or an idea or a concept I go.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: The triangle is three pieces, right, there's funny and distribution right,
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: there's talent, right, and then there's the idea. M If
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: you have two out of the three, I'll find the third. Wow,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: that's that. That's that's awesome. And and let me let
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: me let me add this to it. Don't go in
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: there pitching. You know this would Jamie fox would be
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: the lead. But you ain't got a relationship with Jamie FOXX.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: This is a great idea for Steve Harvey. This is
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: a great idea for Justin tim of Lake. You know,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: oh quit, have you talked to Justin Timberla? No? No,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: no no, But if he if we're gonna make millions
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: of dollars if we just get justin timerlate in this project.
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: You guys are talking about concert, I'll make millions of dollars.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: You're not telling me come on now, come on now.
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: And so, so that's the that's the picture that you
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: don't want to hear. The pitch you want to hear
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: is to be broken down and it's amazing. I'm would
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: tell you I'm mad at both of y'all because I
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: gotta get off the ad with y'all. So, so here's
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: our relationship. Here's our relationship. We gotta eat lunch of
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: dinner together. It's gonna be an hour, two hours. Just
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: let me know when. Um Kenny, I text you to
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: email me Win's email address so I can be respectful
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: when I send you something. I'm sending it to both
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: of you guys. Um a man, I'm proud of you.
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: You know that I would really like rishan with that.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: With that meeting, however it takes place, is I either
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: want you to bring one of your cakes or I
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: want to learn how you you need to stop. Okay,
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: so I gotta learn you know, and your seven up? Okay, okay,
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna seeing you the recipe for a seventh kake today. Okay,
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: see your recipe for seven Oka, my man, Kenny, I'm
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: so you know when I say I'm proud, I'm proud.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: Gwen a little. You've been on the talk show in
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Atlanta with Steve. You did the Neighborhood Awards with me.
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: Every time I've seen you, You're a difference maker. And
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: the thing I love about you, you make a good
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: friend of mine. Kenny spill eyes light up, It light up.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: He lights up out of respect because he got the
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: one that got the one that gonna take him to
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: the end. Then when he walks in the room, you
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: see what he see. He's respectful enough that if you
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: don't like something, you're tell him. And we always men
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: that gotta happen. That gotta happened. All women gotta be
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: able to tell us right the wrong. Okay, our question
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: and you do that. Win. We talk soon, y'all the
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: Power Cup when they Kidney Smith. Wow, we'll be back

- 1:20:22Speaker 1: part of the country you're listening to the show, watching
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: the show. But she's fantastic out of Atlanta, Georgia. I'm
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: gonna I'm gonna say this, worried about to spell it
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: out because a lot of people understand what I'm talking about.
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: My next guest launch fol Decor Folk. That's f a
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: u S Decor Design Studio, a super talented decorative painting
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: company that provides both residential and commercial establishment with uniquely
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: custom design. Foe as f a u X finishes, please
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: work with the money making conversations straight out of Atlanta, Georgia,
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: Toby are are Sandy? What it was that entertaining the
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: way I brought you on the air there, Toby, you know,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: I love it I've ever had come on, come on there,
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: give me some love on that because see, I know
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: a lot of people out there they're just mention you,
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: you know, and you know you'd be going, okay whatever.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: I try to bring people on my show with passion
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: and also a little humor in there. Let him know
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: this show is gonna be a little bit more engaging
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: because you're a talent. So your your entrepreneur with talent,
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: and see I'm gonna explain that. See because you because
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: you have to think out a lot of things. You
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: look at the wall. You know when you're doing folk
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: because you know a lot of people, all they here
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: is faulk fo you are you know I'm talking about painting.
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: Explain everybody exactly what that is. I know, and we're
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: gonna get in detail why I know, But explain to
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: people exactly what the folk decore. Painting is, especially fault painting. Okay, well,
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: folks machine is also considered decorative paint. Yes, ma'am, so
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: pretty much. I can pain wall, stealings, floors. I'm gonnak furniture. Um,
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: but I make anything look beautiful, whatever you want. I
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: have thousands of textures. So, for instance, for those people
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: who actually don't know what is, if you've ever eaten
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: a cheesecake factory, the whole restaurant, restaurant is both finished.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: You were going to get black people, come on, stop
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: at Tooby, Stop and stop at Toby. You threw out
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: the cheesecake factor because you know that when black people
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: want to spend a little at your money, that's where
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: we go. You just went right there there. You ain't
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: gonna just come on my show and act like I
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: don't know that. Now, if you ever been a cheesecake factory. Okay,
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: that's your that's your Those people can afford your phote
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: she said, a mom and pop. You know, she said,
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: cheesecake factory. If you cheesecake fact, at least I know
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: you got a credit car. Yeah, so finish your story.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: I had to mess you up on that one. Come on,
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: let's talk. So no, but that's what usually I'll say
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: that when people will be like, oh, okay, yeah, I
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: have seen their walls so because it's very noticeable and
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: their franchises all, you know, they all looks the same,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: so you can't miss it. Um But anyway, so that's
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: what I do, decorative painting or commercial and residential UM spaces.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: And I've also gotten into doing art directing and set
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: design as well. And there's don't go there, there, don't
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: go there yet. That's another conversation. Let's stay because I
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: don't get people too much. Let's talk about this fault.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: Because so when I bought my house in Atlanta. But
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: it's two different types of for I'm gonna talk about
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: in my office to Steve hard Radio Network, Uh, Steve
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: Harvey wanted folk wanted his walls to be full painted design.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: It was kind of like it's almost like if i'm
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: it's almost like you're taking you're layering colors, but they're
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: kind of like on top of each other, and you
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: can kind of like stop me. It's almost like you
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: kind of like smearing stuff and with a style. Correct. Yep,
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: it's called a trowel okay now, and you do build
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: it in layers. So it's so everything you do is original. Yes,
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: it is. I go into my studio and I, you know, well,
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: initially I meet with the client first, and then I
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: go into the studio and I take the pictures that
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: I've taken up their homes or their businesses. Um. If
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: I if I have to meet with their designer, I'll
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: do that and I'll have all the information, all of
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: their colors, their style, and then whatever they take from
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: the consultations, I'll sit down and try to create something
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: custom just for them. Um. And it's very rare that
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: I do the same theme twice actually, but I have
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: done it maybe once. It's white here and there, but
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: for the most part, every client is different and unique,
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: and it is important that people hear that because you know,
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: when people you know about what that's how much she's
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: not paying The white wall. Now this ain't this ain't
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: an even tone wall here, It's just blue. It's happening
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: up there. Now you wanna you wanna look that? Then
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: when people walk in the room, they go wold. I've
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: never heard anybody go wild to a white wall. Wow,
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: that's white. Whoa, whoa? Can I get a white wall
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: like this? Nobody's ever said that. But what you do,
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: people do say that. And that's why it's important that
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: people respect the craft that you have and how you
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: try to develop it. Now, let me just go to
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: another level. Not at my house in Atlanta, one of
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: the reasons we bought it was just just every one
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: of the restrooms and also the main family room. It
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: was full painting. But it was kind of like Larry,
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: you know, I'm saying, it's kind of like you could
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: like heel little chips off the wall. You know what
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: what I'm saying, you know. And so so the problem
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: I had with that it once a while, a piece
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: of that will fall off, you know, until you have
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: to put it back on the wall. We had to
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: find somebody like you come over and go, I can
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: match that back up. I can match that back up.
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: And and that's what I'm saying, is that your skill
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: and and it's it's impressive because of the fact that
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: you know that it's unique. Now when people push back
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: on you because of what you do, how do you
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: react to that and how do you justify anybody questioning
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: what you charge? UM? I'm sorry I got a little
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: choked up there because it happens quite often. UM. But
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: it's funny you say that, because actually my clients are
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: really really good. They're great, UM. They respect what I do.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: And even the new people that call me UM going
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: into a consultation, they're sort of already kind of aware
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: that what they're doing is a luxury and not an
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: ins um. So a lot of times my clients are
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: a sticker shocks, and then I just have to explain
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: to them what goes into doing a wall. I may
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: be on the wall for five or six days. That's
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: a long time, eight hours a day for six days
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: in one place. So it's almost like creating custom art
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: for your home or your business. And if you have
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: to go out and buy a piece of art, you're
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: gonna stand four or five dollars. You know, it's if
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: you're doing a large key. So I try to explain
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: to people what goes into it. And the products aren't
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: cheap either, um, because I can't go in the home
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: depot and buy anything except for tape and some plastics.
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: But everything else that I use, I have to order
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: specialty from a special company that supplies artists like myself, um,
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: with material and paint. So it's a it's the process.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: But once I get over that hump with the client
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: and you know, game their trust and then okay, that's
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: very key because you're about to do something this wall
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: that you know, white paint just don't cough up easy
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: exactly and they have to understand that. And uh and
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: and so it's really important that the whole process is
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: talk dot is shown. Do you do any stuff on
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: the computer? Do you do any renderage on your computer? Um? No,
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: I did not. Everything is bring everything in person. I
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: don't show me anything online because the color differences are
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: two is very too much. So I can't play around
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: with anything on the computer. I have to be in
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: the space, in the lighting, if there's daylight, natural light, whatever.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: That was a trick question that Toby. You know Ye're
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: about to dive in on you if you just said yeah, yeah,
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: you're good, Toby that that was a trick question. I
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: really wasn't trying to get an answer. I'll take up.
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: I was setting you up so I could dive in
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: and blast you. But you went, I bring everything because
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: lighting in the room is different light books, daylight, natural light.
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: Room light might be fluorescent bubbs in the room. They
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: might have one hundred white bubbs in the room. See.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: I was ready to get you. You went mmmmm, I
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: bring everything, Rashan and so I just had to tell
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: you you got your game together. When we come back,
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: I want to hear about your staff. I want to
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: hear about all these publications, all these TV shows, all
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: these celebrities. That's what I would tell you. So you
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: was getting ahead of the game. This is the Money
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: Made Conversation show hosted bout Roshan McDonald. Let me run
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: my shout. We'll be right back with Toby Fold the
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: Core out of Atlanta joint Money Making Conversation hosten to
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: Roshan mcgonth Toby, hope you enjoined it because I love
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: your girl. Um yeah, how are you doing. I'm back.
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: I'm back Money Making Conversation. Last break here with the
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: incredible owner and creator and talented design artists. I'm a
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: design artist. Uh fold the Core Design Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. Uh,
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: Toby are Sanders. We're just our with our standford because
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: you gotta your in your in your name. Here's your
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: Renee right? What there you go with? My sister named Renee,
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: So I had to go there. You know, you know
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: that's a class sick black name. You know, Renee. You know,
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: rename McDonald, that's her name. She craves you to let
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: you know that. I gotta throw that out in public,
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: you know, to my sister. Crazy. But she found like
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: you and I love the factor, you know, fifteen years
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: of decorative and find all the experience. That's what you
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: bring to the table. So somewhere along the line before
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: fifteen years, what were you doing that led you to this?
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: You are not gonna believe. I almost almost wants you
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: to guess. Just take one guess, um, uh, receptionists. No,
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: I was a computer programmer. There you go. I'm gonna
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: tell you something. I'll tell you something. Let's listen to
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: me on the reel. Our My degrees in mathematics minor
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: and sociology and computer science, and and that makes so
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: much sense to me that you're doing this because it
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: is everything's in your head. Everybody don't know that about programming.
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: Everything is in your head. Then you create an outline
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: to be able to program. If you don't do those steps,
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: then you can't program, you know, and so and so.
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: For you to say that this is what you're doing,
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: I can't believe it because in your head, you walk
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: in the room and it's not like you know TV,
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: when you see all these little atoms and all this
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: on the wall. You're not seeing that. But I know,
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: let mention this. Do you spend a lot of time
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: in the room making a decision um before I paint, ma'am.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: You know when you want the room and people show you.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: It's a it's a full thought process, everything from the
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: beginning to end. How I'm going to prep the room off,
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: how I'm going to protect my clients, floors, everything, it's
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: a it's almost like it's almost like a step by
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: step by step. You have to be very tedious, yes, ma'am.
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: And you have to follow everything because if you miss something,
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: you miss something up. I mean, game over now. It's
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: important because my wife, you know, whenever we bought a house,
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: or an apartment or condom. She would not. That's with
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: the house. She's a Richard. Go do your thing because
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: she knows me. I would just go in the house
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: and I would just sit there, empty house, you know,
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: I mean, you know, just sit there and and I
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: would just kind of like see stuff moving around. I
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: go because if you come to our home, any one
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: of our homes, we don't have a lot of you know,
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: some people home they've got all kinds of stuff going
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: on in their house, you know, just hanging here. You know,
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: you you all WoT got to slide around the house
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: to get around, like you can run in my house
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: and won't knock nothing over, especially about my Atlanta home,
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: because it's all about comfort. It's all about when you're
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: walking in that you're not overwhelmed by the moment. And
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: a lot of them and I get the field. I
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: get the feeling that. That's why you work so well
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: in television because you know, on television you can't you
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: make the wall be more more more dramatic than the
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: actor and actress. You know, it has to fit in
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: and blend and carry the scene and its effectiveness. That's
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: what really what it's all about, correct correct, it is.
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: It's it takes a lot to get through everything, and
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: you just have to stay on point. I have to
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: always be on top of my game. And I was
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: speaking ahead always. I said, that's so smooth. I always talking.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: Are you talking when you get good at this interview
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: and stuff. Now, let's talk about some of these publications
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: that you've been need, you know, publications I want to
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: be in that I haven't even made it there yet.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: I've been in with Steve Harvey, but I'm trying to
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: get Rashaan McDonald. She had already been in these publications
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: Black Enterprise, The Atlanta Jongal Constitution, Washington Spaces Magazine, Seasons Magazine,
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: Living Spaces Magazine. This is what this girl is in. Now,
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something. All those publications I started
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: with Black Enterprise, but the rest was Black Publication. So
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: that means that your brand is for everybody. Mm hmm
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: it is, it is and so and so that's important, right,
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: That's important that you that you that you know that
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: your talents are being recognized everybody everybody, because that's how
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: you know your portfolio. Correct, Yes, it is. I'm always
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: constantly trying to reach out or reach a new audience,
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: reach overseas to a different country, because I love what
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: I want to do when I want to share my
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: talent and my guess with everybody, not with just you know,
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: my black people, which I love, but I want everybody
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: to be able to, you know, enjoy this beautiful service
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: that I provide because it's I always tell people, look
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: at it, just tell people all you know, you have
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: a base, and you do have your base, which is correct.
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: You're not gonna run from your base. But if you
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: want to make money and want to have longevity, you
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: have to diversify. You have to cross over because what
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: happens is you can't keep going. You know, you can't
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: keep going to the same purpose to selling type of aware.
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: If they already got typewere they that type ofwere purchase
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: is gonna get less and less every time. Father, they
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: ain't not even gonna answer your phone no more. And
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: so it's important that you diversify, and it's important that
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: your brand is out there. How do you handle it
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: in the digital uh framework and how do you handle
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: your brand into social framework? Well, in the social framework,
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: I had to convert real quick um because all of
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: that will leave you behind social digital technology serious. So
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: you have to be able to adjust and accept change.
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: And for years, my business has been word of mouth,
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: at least for twelve years. UM that as the time
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: has changed, I had to utilize, you know, social media
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: platforms like Facebook. Um. I think i had my biggest
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: following on Instagram. Um, I'm on Twitter, YouTube, Interest, because
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: that's what people are going to now be social media
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: platforms to even find all of their services. Like, no
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: one asked me for my website anymore. It's like no
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: and void, even though I keep it updated. Um, but
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: when people walk up to me, they're like, are you
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: on Facebook? Or you know, is your work on Instagram?
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: So I had to adapt to that, and I had
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: to build my portfolio on each plat to get all
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: the different are the excuse me, all the different target
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: audiences covered, you know, as far as my reach. And
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: I'm still reaching every day, you know, I'm always meeting people,
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: testing our cards, meeting designers. So it's it hasn't been
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: a challenge. I've been able to embrace the change. So
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: that's a good thing. Now here's the fun part about
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: this conversation that we have and is that is that
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: is that you know. I went through all your platforms.
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: The one thing I did not see was a time
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: elapse video of your work. Oh there, there I didn't see.
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: Could you send me that link because I because that's
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: that's the beauty of the see the beginning to the end,
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: and I would you know, I've been doing my research, Toby.
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: I'll be going to you know, I don't like nobody
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: to be getting on this phone think that I'm just
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: casually talking to you. You know. No, you sound very
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: You're in tune. You are say more than a lot
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: of people. Thank you because because videos out there, because
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something, because because I want to,
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: I want to want to, I want I want some math.
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: I was sending some link because I want to put
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: that on my social media. Okay, because that's what people
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: need to see, because that's the reality of you know,
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: the beginning to the end, and timing laps videos tell
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: that story maybe going like you get to see people
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: move real fast and the wall keeps changing, you know
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: all I'm saying boom, Yeah, yeah it does. I love
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: using that future too, and sometimes hard to stop. Again,
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: that was another trick question. Oh my goodness, you're so
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: good Toby, you are YouTube for two and I'm good too. Toby,
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: I'm good at tripping people up. I'm good and tripping
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: people up. No, I bring all my colors to your house.
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: I don't email you, no renderings, no colors. Okay, Okay, okay, Toby, Okay.
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: What I didn't see. What I didn't see, it was
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: render you know, timming that video. I don't know what
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: video you were looking at. That's what I do. Rashawn, Okay,
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: understand that fifteen years in the business. You don't get
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: fifteen years in the business and be on TV shows
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: like Bravo's newest Hit at Skate, Still Kicking It, The
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: Real Housewives of Atlanta, Lifetime, Little Women of Atlanta. Th
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: h Ones came to share of My life, Lives, Full Court, Life,
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: t I and Tiny The Family Hustle to Be Shot.
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: You really understand that my client lease include designs and
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: developers in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, and d C.
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: You have to understand. You need to understand something, young man.
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: I'm gonna call you young because you know you're talking
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: like a millennial right now. I'm the real deal. Fold
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: The Court Design Studio in Atlanta, Georgia, owned and operating
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: by the Fantabulus Toby renee Saunders. You have done your homework.
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: I am impressed. Come on, come on, girl. I love
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: talking to you because you creative. I love talking to
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: you because you were willing to take a risk. Okay,
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: because you were successful when you was at the program.
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: You can just roll that little check out being frustrated
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: because you but you too creative. That's why I left IBM.
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: I have been way successful I be, but I'd have
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: been mad every day because they would not allow me
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: to think like I wanted to think, and they will
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: not allow me to trust my natural instincts. That's what
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: you're doing every day in your life tonight, right now,
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: tell everybody how they can reach out. Tell you I
