- 0:01Speaker 1: Black residents are now suing This is not a joke. Okay,
- 0:05Speaker 1: you ready for this are now suing the Chicago Mayor
- 0:09Speaker 1: Brandon Johnson over migrant tent cities. The state halts construction
- 0:15Speaker 1: over the toxic chemicals in the soil.
- 0:19Speaker 2: That's right.
- 0:20Speaker 1: African American residents of Chicago's Brighton Park have officially sued
- 0:25Speaker 1: the Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson over the construction of his
- 0:28Speaker 1: massive tent city city for illegal border crossers, but not
- 0:32Speaker 1: before state authorities shut down construction over a report over
- 0:37Speaker 1: the report that the site may be a toxic landfill.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Mayor Johnson's plans to build a tent encampment for up
- 0:43Speaker 1: to one thousand, four hundred legal aliens has been under
- 0:46Speaker 1: fire since it was proposed, and residents there Democrats quickly
- 0:50Speaker 1: organized to oppose the plans to put hundreds of illegal
- 0:53Speaker 1: migrants right in the middle of their neighborhood without so
- 0:56Speaker 1: much as a community meeting or a discussion with their
- 1:00Speaker 1: alderman aka their city council members. Twelfth District Alderman Julia
- 1:05Speaker 1: Ramirez has disavowed Johnson's construction efforts. Ramirez says she has
- 1:12Speaker 1: no part at all in the planning and execution of
- 1:16Speaker 1: the plans in Brighton Park. The Alderman's letter to her
- 1:20Speaker 1: constituents came only days after she was mobbed by furious
- 1:25Speaker 1: residents when she visited the location of the proposed tent
- 1:28Speaker 1: city on October nineteenth. According to the ex account of
- 1:33Speaker 1: the sixteenth and seventeenth District Chicago Police Scanner, residents of
- 1:38Speaker 1: Brighton Park are now suing. Brighton Park residents are suing
- 1:42Speaker 1: the City of Chicago for a temporary restraining order on
- 1:45Speaker 1: the thirty eighth and the California Migrant Tent City. At
- 1:50Speaker 1: the hearing, it was revealed the city never used that
- 1:54Speaker 1: the city never issued construction permits for the tent city.
- 2:00Speaker 1: The city is arguing that residents can't hold the city
- 2:04Speaker 1: accountable for following its own zoning and building codes. The
- 2:12Speaker 1: Brandon Johnson administration is basically saying that the city doesn't
- 2:15Speaker 1: have to follow its own building codes and laws. The
- 2:20Speaker 1: city is also arguing that the soil is safe as
- 2:24Speaker 1: long as.
- 2:24Speaker 2: You're ready for this.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Don't eat it. Not a joke, as long as you
- 2:29Speaker 1: don't eat it. The mayor seems to understand how unpopular
- 2:33Speaker 1: his tent city is when the local Fox affiliate there
- 2:37Speaker 1: sent a camera crew to film some of the construction
- 2:39Speaker 1: work being done on the site. Workers suddenly appear to
- 2:44Speaker 1: line the safety fence in black material to keep the
- 2:48Speaker 1: prying eyes the city residents and the media out of
- 2:52Speaker 1: Johnson's business. You can't make this up the tent city.
- 2:57Speaker 1: If you want to know how much is going to
- 2:59Speaker 1: cost the taxpayers of Chicago the tent city.
- 3:03Speaker 2: And this is how you know somebody is getting paid.
- 3:06Speaker 1: These are how government kickbacks go to family and friends
- 3:09Speaker 1: and uncles and cousins of aldermen and city council members
- 3:13Speaker 1: and government employees and the mayor.
- 3:16Speaker 2: You ready for the price of this damn thing.
- 3:18Speaker 1: The tent city is set to cost Chicago a whopping
- 3:22Speaker 1: twenty nine million, with a contract with Aegis Defense Services
- 3:31Speaker 1: under a branch being called guarda World Federal Services. Now,
- 3:37Speaker 1: even before the residents of Chicago launched their lawsuit, constructions
- 3:42Speaker 1: on Johnson's much opposed tent city was put on hold
- 3:46Speaker 1: by state officials after a newly released environmental report suggested
- 3:50Speaker 1: that the land upon which the tent city is being
- 3:53Speaker 1: erected is dripping in hazardous chemicals. Quote, state is temporarily
- 4:01Speaker 1: temporarily paused construction of the Brighton Park site pending the
- 4:06Speaker 1: Illinois Environmental Protection Agency's review of environmental report. The IEPA
- 4:13Speaker 1: has some outstanding questions they are hopeful that they can
- 4:16Speaker 1: work through today. Is what the governor said to the
- 4:20Speaker 1: media on Monday.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Now.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Johnson's office confirmed the quote hitch in the tent City, saying,
- 4:28Speaker 1: according to report, soil with mercury levels was identified at
- 4:33Speaker 1: one location, was removed and properly disposed off site at
- 4:37Speaker 1: a landfill, and with a limited soil removal and placement
- 4:41Speaker 1: and maintenance of the barrier, the site is saved for
- 4:43Speaker 1: temporary residential use, the Mayor's office claims. They then went
- 4:48Speaker 1: on to say further base camp construction and re and
- 4:53Speaker 1: remediation of an additional one by one by one foot
- 4:57Speaker 1: area of the nine point five acre site one continue
- 5:01Speaker 1: per the timeline set by the State of Illinois. There
- 5:04Speaker 1: is no construction or remediation schedule at this time. The
- 5:09Speaker 1: city will share assessment of subsequent remediation as it becomes available.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Johnson's office new of the toxic chemicals being found in
- 5:20Speaker 1: the soil at the site, but deemed the conducted to
- 5:25Speaker 1: level the ground for the tent city to be sufficient
- 5:29Speaker 1: to eliminate the threat, and says much of it in
- 5:31Speaker 1: the report released last week. In its report, the city claimed, quote,
- 5:36Speaker 1: with a limited soul removal and placement and maintenance of
- 5:39Speaker 1: the barrier, the site is safe for temporary residential use.
- 5:42Speaker 1: So to be clear, these democrats are so compassionate. They're
- 5:45Speaker 1: going to put these illegal immigrants, costing the taxpayers just
- 5:50Speaker 1: to build the site twenty nine million, on soil that
- 5:53Speaker 1: has mercury in it, and they say, hey, it's totally safe.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Just don't eat the soil, sleep on it, play on it,
- 5:59Speaker 1: have your kids play on it.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Just don't eat it.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Now, the mayor says that he is sure that quote
- 6:05Speaker 1: the limited soul removal was enough to eliminate any toxicity.
- 6:10Speaker 1: State officials, by the way, said they're not going to
- 6:14Speaker 1: just believe his basic claims. An attorney for the residents
- 6:18Speaker 1: suing to stop the construction of the facility was incensed
- 6:22Speaker 1: over the whole entire situation, saying the city has been dishonest,
- 6:26Speaker 1: they're liars, they're untruthful, and they're not being transparent. The
- 6:30Speaker 1: city is not an honest broker. But what I will
- 6:32Speaker 1: do is keep them accountable if they do lie, and
- 6:36Speaker 1: if they're not transparent, then I will hold them in
- 6:38Speaker 1: court in contempt. That is what Attorney Frank Avlis said
- 6:42Speaker 1: on Monday, who were representing the residents who were saying
- 6:46Speaker 1: hell no to this encampment. Now, this is the chickens
- 6:50Speaker 1: coming home to roost in a way that just makes
- 6:52Speaker 1: me laugh, because this is hardcore lefties who are now
- 6:57Speaker 1: upset that their hard core leftist policies are going to
- 6:59Speaker 1: fain life. I find great pleasure in watching the left
- 7:04Speaker 1: turn on the left, because we've been saying we told
- 7:07Speaker 1: you so on these issues for quite some time. White
- 7:11Speaker 1: House in turns send stern letter to Biden demanding a
- 7:17Speaker 1: Middle East ceasefire. There's nothing funnier than watching the Democratic
- 7:22Speaker 1: Party like go to war within their own party, because,
- 7:26Speaker 1: to be clear, the young Democratic Party, the younger Democrats
- 7:30Speaker 1: are pro Hamas, pro Palestinian, and they're anti Semites. We're
- 7:34Speaker 1: now seeing this on college campuses, we are seeing this
- 7:37Speaker 1: on Capitol Hill. I'm in Washington, d C. As we
- 7:40Speaker 1: speak right now, looking at the Washington Monument and the
- 7:42Speaker 1: US Capitol, and I can tell you from the protests
- 7:45Speaker 1: that I've seen here over the last two days. It
- 7:48Speaker 1: is a lot of Hill staffers that are anti Semitic,
- 7:51Speaker 1: anti Israel, and pro Palestinian Hamas period.
- 7:56Speaker 2: I also walk the halls of Congress.
- 7:59Speaker 1: And they're are a shocking number of Palestinian flags outside
- 8:04Speaker 1: of members of the House's offices. Forty plus now White
- 8:10Speaker 1: House interns have sent a letter to President Joe Biden.
- 8:15Speaker 1: This is their boss, the president units. It's America, okay.
- 8:17Speaker 1: They're an intern demanding a permanent ceasefire between Israel and
- 8:22Speaker 1: and the Hamas terrorist organizations, further accusing him of having
- 8:27Speaker 1: ignored the police, they say of the American people. NBC
- 8:33Speaker 1: News first shared the address to Biden and Vice President
- 8:38Speaker 1: Kamala Harris, which also contained a call for the release
- 8:41Speaker 1: of all hostages, including Palestinian political prisoners, alongside an end
- 8:48Speaker 1: to the Israeli apartheid in the region. Their words, these
- 8:52Speaker 1: are White House staffers. It is supported by more than
- 8:57Speaker 1: forty interns who work in the White House and other
- 9:00Speaker 1: executive branch offices. According to the text, the signs all
- 9:05Speaker 1: chose to remain, of course, anonymous, because there are.
- 9:08Speaker 2: A bunch of woke, woosy liberals.
- 9:10Speaker 1: If you're gonna say this, you should sign your damn
- 9:13Speaker 1: name to it, and if you don't, then shut up
- 9:15Speaker 1: and get back to your job. Quote we the undersigned
- 9:20Speaker 1: Fall twenty twenty three, Fall White House and Executive Office
- 9:24Speaker 1: of the President. Interns will no longer remain silent, but
- 9:28Speaker 1: they won't give you their name.
- 9:29Speaker 2: You can't make that up.
- 9:30Speaker 1: On the ongoing genocide they call it of the Palestinian people,
- 9:35Speaker 1: the interns began. They then went on to set out
- 9:38Speaker 1: the conditions of their demand for an end due hostilities,
- 9:42Speaker 1: while claiming to be acting on the voices of the
- 9:45Speaker 1: American people. Quote, we heed the voices of the American
- 9:49Speaker 1: people and call on the Biden administration to demand a
- 9:54Speaker 1: permanent cease fire.
- 9:55Speaker 2: The interns continued.
- 9:56Speaker 1: We are not the decision makers of today, but we
- 10:00Speaker 1: aspire to be the leaders of tomorrow, and we will
- 10:02Speaker 1: never forget how the pleas of the American people have
- 10:05Speaker 1: been heard and thus far, they say, ignored. Now the
- 10:10Speaker 1: writers of this angry, psychotic letter to their boss, who
- 10:16Speaker 1: refused to sign their name because they're a bunch of wisses,
- 10:19Speaker 1: like those at other agencies who have sent similar emails
- 10:23Speaker 1: in recent weeks, decline to sign their names to the letter.
- 10:26Speaker 1: All together like there's no one that we know that
- 10:28Speaker 1: was actually writing this letter, which is hysterical. Instead, they
- 10:32Speaker 1: identify themselves by offices, including the Executive Office of the President,
- 10:38Speaker 1: the Office of the Vice President, and the Domestic Policy Council,
- 10:42Speaker 1: and as Palestinian, Jewish, Arab, Muslim, Christian, Black, Asian, Latina, white,
- 10:47Speaker 1: and queer. The letter ends with a declaration that anything
- 10:52Speaker 1: bar anything bar a ceasefire and an end to Israel's
- 10:57Speaker 1: mass slaughter of inoctance civilians in the Gaza Strip will
- 10:59Speaker 1: not be tolerated. So this is a letter of forty
- 11:04Speaker 1: plus White House and Executive Office Building interns for Palestine.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Quote.
- 11:11Speaker 1: While the American while the administration express support for the
- 11:14Speaker 1: humanitarian pause, we maintain that anything other than a complete
- 11:19Speaker 1: halt of Israel's mass slaughter of innocent civilians in the
- 11:22Speaker 1: Gaza Strip will simply not suffice. We urge the Biden
- 11:26Speaker 1: administration to call for a permanent ceasefire now, a release
- 11:30Speaker 1: of all hostages, including Palestinian political prisoners, and to support
- 11:35Speaker 1: a diplomatic solution that will put an end to.
- 11:38Speaker 2: The illegal illegal They use this word.
- 11:40Speaker 1: This is the White House employees an illegal occupation and
- 11:46Speaker 1: the Israeli apartheid in accordance with international law and for
- 11:51Speaker 1: a free Palestine. Applicants, by the way, just so you know,
- 11:56Speaker 1: to become interns must be US citizens and must.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Be eighteen or older.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Now this also tells you just how rogue the Democratic
- 12:06Speaker 1: Party is. And I've said this, the Democratic Party's dead.
- 12:10Speaker 1: The Democratic Party is masquerading as Democrats. They're really just
- 12:15Speaker 1: socialists and communists. This letter is proof of that. I
- 12:20Speaker 1: do believe by the way that they're not overstating the
- 12:24Speaker 1: number of people on this letter. I do believe there's
- 12:26Speaker 1: twenty two communists that decide to write this letter and
- 12:30Speaker 1: to be anti Semitic and to accuse Israel of apartheid.
- 12:35Speaker 1: By the way they said in this letter, these are
- 12:37Speaker 1: the demands. So these are interns who are here for
- 12:41Speaker 1: a very short season, like three months, four months. These
- 12:45Speaker 1: are interns that are demanding that the president quote they
- 12:50Speaker 1: must meet one of the three criteria. The president the
- 12:54Speaker 1: vice president must do more. Now, now let me tell
- 12:57Speaker 1: you about who these people are, just so to you understand,
- 13:00Speaker 1: they must be enrolled in college or university to become
- 13:03Speaker 1: an intern, or have graduated from a two or four
- 13:05Speaker 1: year institution or be a US military veteran with a
- 13:08Speaker 1: high school diploma or equivalent to even be in the
- 13:12Speaker 1: program of interns. And now they're talking, they're demanding and
- 13:18Speaker 1: yelling at their boss, the President, that it's America, Joe Biden,
- 13:21Speaker 1: the Vice President, Kama Harris. Look, when I was with
- 13:26Speaker 1: the Bush administration in two thousand and four, I remember
- 13:30Speaker 1: vividly somebody taking a party picture at a official White
- 13:39Speaker 1: House gathering and putting it up on I think it
- 13:41Speaker 1: was my Space at the time. It was like right
- 13:44Speaker 1: when Facebook was just getting started and you had to
- 13:47Speaker 1: have a dot edu email to even get a Facebook page.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Okay, And.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Somebody put up the letter the picture and they had
- 13:59Speaker 1: their land with the big E for access to the
- 14:03Speaker 1: White House around their next and I remember the email
- 14:06Speaker 1: that came down.
- 14:08Speaker 2: To virtually every staffer.
- 14:11Speaker 1: In the old Executive Office Building and at the White House,
- 14:14Speaker 1: Like the EEOB is next door to the White House.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Just so you understand, ninety nine percent of the meetings
- 14:19Speaker 1: that take place quote at the White House, actually take
- 14:21Speaker 1: place the EEO B U nine nine point eight percent
- 14:24Speaker 1: of the staff is in the EEO B barely anyone
- 14:27Speaker 1: because the White House is actually not that big.
- 14:29Speaker 2: The office space is not that big, just so you understand.
- 14:32Speaker 1: And so this email went out and was like, if
- 14:35Speaker 1: if any of you ever do this again, you will
- 14:39Speaker 1: be immediately fired from your internship, Like there was a
- 14:44Speaker 1: zero tolerance policy for posting a picture of you like
- 14:50Speaker 1: kind of bragging or even like, you know, like looking
- 14:53Speaker 1: like you're maybe partying while you're at work.
- 14:57Speaker 2: And I remember.
- 14:58Speaker 1: Each one of the staff men then sitting down with
- 15:01Speaker 1: their direct staff of young staff members and interns and
- 15:05Speaker 1: being like, you're not here for a party, You're not
- 15:08Speaker 1: here for this, You're here serving at the pleasure of
- 15:11Speaker 1: the president. That it's America. It was a all out
- 15:15Speaker 1: get you your life in order. No one else better
- 15:19Speaker 1: do this, and if you do, you're gone immediately. Look
- 15:22Speaker 1: how far we've fallen since that standard back in two
- 15:25Speaker 1: thousand and four. You now have forty plus people that
- 15:30Speaker 1: work for the president who are chastising the president, telling
- 15:33Speaker 1: the president you're wrong in your foreign policy and making
- 15:36Speaker 1: demands of the president and Kamala Harrison, you better do
- 15:41Speaker 1: this and turn against Israel and Israel is the terrorists
- 15:45Speaker 1: and they're the ones that are killing innocent people and
- 15:48Speaker 1: genocide and you better listen to us, and you better
- 15:51Speaker 1: turned around right now. But we won't sign our names
- 15:55Speaker 1: to the letter. We won't sign our names to the letter.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Guys are cowards. That's what they are. They're cowards. And
- 16:04Speaker 1: the reason why they didn't sign their name is because
- 16:07Speaker 1: I'm sure they would then know that, hey, there would
- 16:09Speaker 1: be repercussions for their actions.
- 16:11Speaker 2: So they still want it both ways.
- 16:13Speaker 1: They don't want to lose their job if they really
- 16:14Speaker 1: believe this and find quit, do forty one people and
- 16:18Speaker 1: sign your names and a resignation letter saying we are
- 16:20Speaker 1: resigning from internships the White House, like that's what you
- 16:23Speaker 1: do here. For ten years, Patriot Mobile has been America's
- 16:27Speaker 1: only Christian conservative wireless provider.
- 16:30Speaker 2: And when I say the only one, I mean it.
- 16:32Speaker 2: They're the only one.
- 16:33Speaker 1: They make a huge difference every time that you pay
- 16:35Speaker 1: your bill because they actually get back to conservative causes
- 16:38Speaker 1: and organizations to help you stand up for what you
- 16:43Speaker 1: believe in while you're paying a bill you're going to
- 16:45Speaker 1: have anyways. This is the part that I love about
- 16:49Speaker 1: Patriot Mobile. They're making a difference every time you pay
- 16:52Speaker 1: your bill, every time you make a phone call, every
- 16:55Speaker 1: time that you send a text, message. Patriot Mobile actually
- 17:00Speaker 1: gives money back to protect First and Second Amendment rights,
- 17:03Speaker 1: to protect the lives of unborn children. And that's what
- 17:07Speaker 1: they're doing right now is they celebrate their tenth anniversary.
- 17:11Speaker 1: If you switch right now to Patriot Mobile, they are
- 17:14Speaker 1: going to give a donation to help protect life and
- 17:18Speaker 1: to help mothers choose life to an organization that does
- 17:22Speaker 1: everything they can to protect the lives of unborn children.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Then every month when you pay your bill, they're going
- 17:28Speaker 1: to continue to support the causes that I just mentioned.
- 17:31Speaker 1: And this is exactly why you need to make the switch.
- 17:35Speaker 1: If you're tired of woke companies, switch your cell phone
- 17:39Speaker 1: to Patriot Mobile. Whether you are a business, a small business,
- 17:44Speaker 1: or just a family, you can switch and they make
- 17:46Speaker 1: switching easy. They have a one hundred percent US based
- 17:49Speaker 1: call center making switching extremely easy. You're going to get
- 17:53Speaker 1: nationwide coverage, unlimited talking texts, and usually save real money
- 17:57Speaker 1: on your bill. Nine seven to two Patriot. It's nine
- 18:00Speaker 1: seven to two Patriot nine seven to two Patriot, or
- 18:04Speaker 1: go online to Patriot Mobile dot com slash ben that's
- 18:08Speaker 1: Patriot Mobile dot com slash ben or nine seven to
- 18:12Speaker 1: two Patriot. A very big win for conservatives to tell
- 18:17Speaker 1: you about. As Speaker Mike Johnson tables a move to
- 18:21Speaker 1: slip deep state reauthorization into the Defense bill, this is massive.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Speaker Mike Johnson reportedly tabled a move to slip a
- 18:33Speaker 1: deep state reauthorization into the Defense spending bill. This broke
- 18:38Speaker 1: as he he knicks the extension of the FAISA authority
- 18:43Speaker 1: as part of the National Defense Authorization Act.
- 18:46Speaker 2: This is obviously massive.
- 18:49Speaker 1: It was reported that Johnson and other congressional leaders had
- 18:53Speaker 1: wanted to temporarily reauthorize section seven oh two of the
- 18:58Speaker 1: Foreign Intelligence Surveillance FISA in the National Defense Authorization Acts.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Section seven oh two is the controversial government surveillance law,
- 19:08Speaker 1: and the proposed move received strong backlash from fifty four
- 19:13Speaker 1: bipartisan House lawmakers and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Keeping FISA out of the NDAA as a victory for
- 19:23Speaker 1: the American people who demand the end of warrantless government surveillance.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I applaud Speaker Johnson's decision to not cave to the
- 19:32Speaker 1: Biden administration, Chrisopher Ray, and the entire intel community is
- 19:36Speaker 1: what Representative Warren Davison, a Republican from Ohio, said in
- 19:41Speaker 1: a statement. At one point, Johnson's office refused to confirm
- 19:46Speaker 1: to Breitbart News represented Matt Gates claim that there would
- 19:51Speaker 1: be no wreath authorization temporary or otherwise of Section seven
- 19:56Speaker 1: oh two. Johnson said that they would allow for the
- 19:59Speaker 1: different Section seven to two fixes to be considered on
- 20:03Speaker 1: the House floor now. During a closed door conference meeting
- 20:07Speaker 1: on Tuesday, Johnson said he could bring Jordan's and Turner's
- 20:12Speaker 1: two competing bills up for a vote in a rare
- 20:16Speaker 1: procedural gambut known as King of the Hill if there
- 20:19Speaker 1: isn't a consensus over Section seven oh two that accord
- 20:24Speaker 1: to two Republicans in the room. Under that gamut, leadership
- 20:29Speaker 1: can bring competing proposals to the floor as amendments. In
- 20:33Speaker 1: whichever proposal is the last one that comes up for
- 20:36Speaker 1: the vote and still gets a majority is the one
- 20:40Speaker 1: that gets adopted. It allows leadership to try to influence
- 20:44Speaker 1: the outcome by putting its preferred proposal last. Now as
- 20:49Speaker 1: recently as Tuesday night, Senator Ron Wyden, a Democrat from
- 20:53Speaker 1: Oregon who co sponsored the Government Surveillance Reform Act with
- 20:58Speaker 1: Senator Mike Lee, Republican from U TI, tall to rein
- 21:01Speaker 1: in section seven oh two oppose an extension of the NDAA,
- 21:07Speaker 1: saying this we're going the distance with reform. Business as
- 21:13Speaker 1: usual is not going to be acceptable. When I started,
- 21:16Speaker 1: it was pretty lonely. You could have meetings about seven
- 21:19Speaker 1: oh two reform operations in a couple of phone boots,
- 21:23Speaker 1: And I'm looking around now and I'm seeing a lot
- 21:25Speaker 1: of allies, Wyden said, noting that he does not see
- 21:28Speaker 1: how a clean authorization could have been possible with a
- 21:33Speaker 1: strong bipartisan opposition to such a move, as Johnson, the
- 21:38Speaker 1: Speaker and other Congressional leaders can no longer wish or
- 21:42Speaker 1: excuse me no longer wish to include section seven oh
- 21:45Speaker 1: two in the debate. That means the Judiciary Committee will
- 21:49Speaker 1: now consider the merits of their proposal to rein in
- 21:52Speaker 1: this controversial warrantless surveillance on Americans. The Protect Liberty an
- 21:58Speaker 1: End War Warrantless Surveillance Act would require a warrant for
- 22:04Speaker 1: any Americans information sought under section seven oh two. The
- 22:10Speaker 1: program does not currently require a warrant for such a search.
- 22:14Speaker 1: The legislation, by the way, would also prohibit law enforcement
- 22:19Speaker 1: eligence agencies from purchasing Americans private data through a data
- 22:25Speaker 1: broker or data brokers, a practice by the way, which
- 22:29Speaker 1: has been known as the data broker loophole. In other words,
- 22:33Speaker 1: they could go and get your data from Facebook or
- 22:35Speaker 1: Instagram or Twitter or x or.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Google and buy your data.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Now, they're saying the US government would be prohibited from
- 22:44Speaker 1: doing that. Biggs and other lawmakers have decried this practice,
- 22:50Speaker 1: believing it to be a run around the Fourth Amendment.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Congressman Biggs had this to say about this Defense three
- 23:00Speaker 1: Authorization Act and pulling this out of the bill, to.
- 23:04Speaker 3: The laws governing the Fourth Amendment are not necessarily being
- 23:07Speaker 3: applied in certain digital contexts, and courts do not consider
- 23:11Speaker 3: searches of database that have been acquired through purchase as
- 23:15Speaker 3: requiring warrants. The key legislation in this space of the
- 23:18Speaker 3: Electronic Communications Privacy Act, which was written in nineteen eighty
- 23:22Speaker 3: six and did not take into account all the advances
- 23:25Speaker 3: in digital communication that have occurred since that time. It
- 23:28Speaker 3: is therefore necessary to do our job to update key
- 23:31Speaker 3: tenets of privacy law.
- 23:33Speaker 4: This bill would prevent federal agencies.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Further abuse of this loophole, rather than obtaining a warrant,
- 23:38Speaker 3: as they would be required to for a wiretap of
- 23:41Speaker 3: a phone call.
- 23:42Speaker 4: Government agencies such as.
- 23:44Speaker 3: The FBI, IRSDA, DHS, and others have begun buying data
- 23:50Speaker 3: from data brokers to instead to increase mass amounts to
- 23:55Speaker 3: mass large amounts of Americans data and then search with
- 24:00Speaker 3: no warrant in another example.
- 24:02Speaker 4: In one example the CD.
- 24:04Speaker 1: You're not just a homeowner, You're also a bug in
- 24:07Speaker 1: the basement with a frightening number of legs owner. All right,
- 24:10Speaker 1: let me obviously jumped in there. Let me say this
- 24:14Speaker 1: as well about what Andy Biggs is saying. And I'm
- 24:17Speaker 1: going to get back to this. I hate it when
- 24:18Speaker 1: they do this because I have this queued up. It
- 24:20Speaker 1: drives me nuts. I apologize. There nothing I can do.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Welcome to the Internet nowadays. But listen to the second
- 24:26Speaker 1: part of what Andy Biggs had to say in this
- 24:29Speaker 1: audio as he's talking about this bill and what it
- 24:31Speaker 1: would do and how it would limit FBI agents searching
- 24:35Speaker 1: your info.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Twenty thousand dollars to purchase location data during the pandemic
- 24:39Speaker 3: to determine whether Americans were going to church, visiting their neighbors,
- 24:43Speaker 3: or otherwise abiding by the government's arbitrary social distancing laws.
- 24:48Speaker 3: This bill will prohibit the government's purchase of this data
- 24:51Speaker 3: data that includes private personal information like location information, online data,
- 24:57Speaker 3: health information, et cetera. We'll also require the government to
- 25:00Speaker 3: get a court order to force data brokers to disclose data,
- 25:04Speaker 3: treating these cases more like traditional phone wiretaps.
- 25:07Speaker 4: The Committee has in recent years passed major reforms to.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Overhaul the ECPA, but those bills have never made it
- 25:13Speaker 3: into law. It's time to finally move major legislation to
- 25:17Speaker 3: protect privacy, and this bill is exactly the type of
- 25:20Speaker 3: legislation needed to rein in the federal government and protect
- 25:23Speaker 3: the privacy rights of Americans. Data brokers are selling Americans
- 25:26Speaker 3: personal information to law enforcement and intelligence agencies, which are
- 25:30Speaker 3: then being searched without warrants and without oversight, in contrast
- 25:36Speaker 3: to strict rules that prevent phone companies and social media
- 25:38Speaker 3: sites from selling such information to the government. This is
- 25:41Speaker 3: Congress's job to update the law and fill in gaps
- 25:44Speaker 3: that arise over time.
- 25:45Speaker 4: We must act to day to pass this.
- 25:47Speaker 3: Bill and in the government's ability to avoid the Fourth
- 25:49Speaker 3: Amendment by purchasing your highly sensitive information from data brokers
- 25:53Speaker 3: and then ultimately using it against you.
- 25:55Speaker 4: The Fourth Amendment is not for Sale Act.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Would close this legal loop poll and is a critical
- 25:59Speaker 3: step and limiting the federal government's warrantless surveillance of Americans.
- 26:04Speaker 3: I am appreciative of those on the other side of
- 26:07Speaker 3: the aisle who are sponsoring this important piece of legislation.
- 26:11Speaker 3: I look forward to bipartisan support for this now and
- 26:15Speaker 3: on the floor, and I appreciate everyone who's worked on this.
- 26:18Speaker 1: I mean, that's Andy Biggs saying this, and I love
- 26:21Speaker 1: the fact that he's talking about how much money they're
- 26:24Speaker 1: spending to buy up your data from private companies that
- 26:28Speaker 1: are then sending it or selling it to the United
- 26:32Speaker 1: States government because of this loophole.
- 26:35Speaker 2: And he's like, we got to close this loophole because
- 26:37Speaker 2: the US.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Government is taking your tax dollars and they're taking those
- 26:42Speaker 1: tax dollars to then buy your intel and then use
- 26:46Speaker 1: that intel against you again from the private sector. So
- 26:51Speaker 1: the fact that this wasn't in this Defense Authorization Reauthorization.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Act, this is not bad news.
- 26:59Speaker 1: This is a news and conservatives and this is the
- 27:05Speaker 1: reason why, by the way, Kevin McCarthy, I'm glad he's
- 27:07Speaker 1: no longer the Speaker of the House because Kevin McCarthy
- 27:10Speaker 1: would have never done what Speaker Johnson.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Just did, okay, period, full stop.
- 27:18Speaker 1: If Kevin McCarthy was the speaker, this would have definitely
- 27:22Speaker 1: stayed in the bill because Kevin McCarthy's a big government
- 27:27Speaker 1: guy who believes that the government's job is to do
- 27:31Speaker 1: whatever the blank they want to do. To be honest
- 27:34Speaker 1: with you, like they just they think they should be
- 27:35Speaker 1: able to do whatever they want to do whenever they
- 27:37Speaker 1: want to do it, no matter what. And Johnson said no.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Now he's saying, look, there can be an in between,
- 27:44Speaker 1: a happy medium where we're not abusing the rights of Americans,
- 27:48Speaker 1: and we can do that, but we're not gonna sit
- 27:51Speaker 1: there and act like this is this is happening right now,
- 27:54Speaker 1: Like we're not gonna sit there and act We're not
- 27:58Speaker 1: gonna sit there and we're not gonna act like this
- 28:02Speaker 1: is okay to continue to abuse the American people, inspy
- 28:05Speaker 1: on the American people whenever we want to, however we want.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Let me also say, please share this on social media,
- 28:15Speaker 1: all of this intel that I just gave you, Please
- 28:18Speaker 1: share it wherever you can on social media, and I'll
- 28:21Speaker 1: see you back here tomorrow.
